Foundation (NEF) introduced the Happy
Planet Index (HPI) - an index of human well-
being and environmental impact.
Costa Rica – not the most technologically advanced
country in the world - topped the ranking for the second
time in 2012. And while the US fared well on life
expectancy and wellbeing, it ranks a low 104 due to
