scale, with over 2 million online
participants from over 200 countries
weighing in on versions of a classic
ethical conundrum. The problem
involves 13 scenarios in which an
accident involving a vehicle is
imminent, and the vehicle must opt
for one of two potentially fatal
options. In the case of driverless cars,
that might mean swerving toward a
couple of people, rather than a large
group of bystanders.

많은 분들이 이와 같은 구글의 실제 도로 주행테스트만 알고 있음. 그러나 반
자율차가 차고를 나가기 전에도 반자율차가 학습할 수 있는 매우 강력한 인
공지능 시뮬레이터(simulator)가 있다면 차고에서도 학습할 수 있음. 이러한
시뮬레이터의 버추얼 랩에서 구글의 반자율차들은 하루에 300만 마일(480만
km)의 버추얼 도로를 주행하면서 학습하고 있음. 공공도로에서 테스트하는
것은 새로운 환경과 경험을 접하기 때문에 소프트웨어(기계학습 알고리즘)의
개발에 매우 중요한 것임.
예를 들어 교차로에서 좌회전하는 경우 탑승한 승객의 안전과 편안함을 위해
소프트웨어를 수정해 반자율차가 주행하는 각도를 수정하는 것이다. 이와 같
은 수정 변화의 새로운 패턴에 따라 인공지능 버추얼 랩에서 200만 마일 이
상을 버추얼 도로에서 주행하는 것이다. 이러한 시뮬레이션을 통해 반자율차
의 능력을 향상시킬 뿐만 아니라 승객에게도 보다 나은 경험을 주는 것이다.
또한 인공지능 버추얼 랩에서 자율주행모드해제(Disengagements of
Autonomous Mode)의 이유를 집중분석하고 최적의 답을 찾아 소프트웨어를
업데이트하고 전 반자율차의 자율주행컴퓨터시스템(Autonomous Driving
Computer System)에 업데이트 시키는 것이다

No LiDar. A Tesla Model S sedan with a semi-
autonomous Autopilot system was smashed as it
plowed into a truck stopped at a Utah traffic
light Friday night(11 May 2018). The female
driver suffered a broken ankle and there was
extensive damage to the car, according to
