Introduction
In today's fast-paced business environment and people perspective, adhering to a strategic
framework is crucial for organizations seeking sustainable success.
One such approach for visualizing and assessing business and people growth is the SOAR
Analysis. This powerful tool enables businesses to identify their strengths, opportunities,
aspirations, and results, ultimately providing a roadmap for continuous improvement.
The primary purpose of SOAR Analysis is to stimulate strategic thinking and generate creative
solutions for organizational and people growth.

WHY SOAR
A SOAR Analysis is essential for organizations
and people seeking to thrive in today's
competitive business landscape. By
focusing on strengths, the process enables
businesses and development to identify
and leverage their unique advantages.
SOAR Analysis is a strategic planning method
that centers on the organization's strengths,
opportunities, aspirations, and results.
Unlike traditional approaches, this model
takes a more positive and future-oriented
approach to plan and achieve objectives.
Organizations and people that embrace
SOAR Analysis become adept at targeting
resources and efforts to maximize their
potential. It leads to creating a powerful
vision for the future firmly grounded in the
organization's strengths and capabilities.
Additionally, the SOAR Analysis allows teams
within the organization to better align their
strategy with the overall business
objectives. The process establishes a clear
roadmap towards achieving the desired
results by emphasizing collaboration and
open dialogue.
SWOT and SOAR
SWOT involves identifying Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats to understand a
project or decision comprehensively. SOAR is a positive and future-oriented approach that
identifies Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations, and Results.
Unlike SWOT Analysis, the SOAR model uses an appreciative approach to focus the organization on
what is known to work, rather than internal weaknesses or perceived threats that might not
eventuate. Building on strengths requires less effort and resources than trying to correct
weaknesses. The technique is more action-oriented than a SWOT and is focused on outcomes.
Both SWOT and SOAR are valuable tools for evaluating a business and identifying areas for
development. SWOT is more traditional and may be more easily understood by external parties, but
SOAR is a stronger option for younger or less-developed companies, especially those striving for
innovation.
