1. Boilers
Presented by: WAQAS CH
Objective: To describe and explain the boilers’
functions and the two main types of boilers.
2. What is a boiler?
A water containing vessel in which water is
heated under pressure
Transfer heat from afuel source(oil, gas, coal)
into steam
Thesteam or hot fluid circulatesout of the
boiler for usein variousprocessor heating
appliances.
3. How does a boiler work?
Closed system: when 100% of thesteam
produced isreturned to bereused.
Examplesof closed systemsareclosesteam
heating, hot water heating, and “one-pipe”
systems.
Open system: asystem that doesnot return the
condensate.

5. Fire Tube Boilers
• Thecombustion gasespassinsideboiler
tubes, and heat istransferred to water on the
shell side.
6. Water Tube Boilers
• Boiler water passes
through thetubes
whiletheexhaust
gasesremain in the
shell side, passing
over thetube
surfaces.
7. Conclusion
Boilersareclassified into firetubeor water
tubeboilersdepending on whether theheat
sourceisinsideor outsidethetubes.
Thegoal in both casesisto maximizetheheat
transfer between thewater and thehot gases
heating it.
