DEAR READERS,
News letter is a collection of various activities & developmental programmes.It
is quarterlyl report of the campus activities during the tenure sep-dec 2012. The
main objective of publishing the news letter is to create a know about the
activities carried out in the college & collaboration with the agricultural
departments &other allied departments.Here we like to share about the
RAWE(Rural & agricultural working experience) programme 2012-2013 by the
final year B.Sc students, besides we have included orientation programme from
Fertilizer association of India,personality development talk for studenys &
teachers,inter-campus foot-ball,badmiton competition, farewell & welcome
function to former & new Dean, HOT activities etcâŠâŠ

2. RURAL AGRICULTURAL WORK
EXPERIENCE PROGRAMME 2012-2103
[RAWE]
âąThe RAWE (Rural& agricultural working
experience) programme 2012-2013 was held during
the period June 26th 2012 to Sept 15th 2012.
âąThis programme enables the students to know the
situation in rural areas like the culture of people,
working of rural institutions like co-operatives, village
panchayats etc.
âąThe RAWE-P was scheduled for 3 months period
collaboration the agricultural departments where the
students were placed in 8 RSKâs (hobli level) & were
educated about the ongoing activities carried-out in the
RSKâs.

KANNADA RAJYOTSAVA
On 26th Nov kannadarajyotsava was been
celebrated.Dr.Rachegowda principle of Hassan
institute of medical sciences,Hassan was the chief
guest &he addressed the student community & the
college staff regarding the importance of
kannadalanguage,age old laureates, poets.
Dr.Hegd, prof of horticulture spoke about the current
status ðical status importance of the kannada
language.
IFFCO ORIENTATION PROGRAMME:
The fertilizer association of India(southern region) had
organized a 2 days orientation programme on impact of
Fertilizers on ensuring food security. On 8th &9th Aug
2012. The technical session comprised of renewed
Speakers from various sectors of fertilizers industry.
The session was headed by Mr.M.Remold Regional
executive FAI-SR Chennai who addressed about the
overview of fertilizer industry followed by:
âąCo-operative societies in fertilizers marketing
& distribution-Mr.H.K.Ramanand,Senior area
manager(marketing) IFFCO ltd, Hassan
IFFCO inauguration programme.
AGRONOMY DEPARTMENT
âąPublications:â Attitude of agricultural students
towards education & their organizational climateâ by

Training programmes were carried out by the SMS of
the college to the farming community & the farmers at
the agri departments.i.e, KVK, DATC & other allied
departments about :
âąRecent advances in production of field crops.
Kannada rajyostava.
Professors in the technical meet.
3. FAREWELL & WELCOME
GUEST LECTURE
Dr.M.A.Shankar the former Dean (Agri), ACH & the
present DR of GKVK Bengaluru has successfully
completed his service of 4 years with zeal &
enthusiasm. As a part of his service end term on
function was organized by the college staff & the
students.
Apart from it the new Dean Dr.L.Manjunath was been
welcomed to the campus by the former Dean, students
& college staff.
On 28th Nov 2012, guest lecture was given to all the
HOT students of the college by Dr.Rajgopal retired
dean(PG)& prof of entomology (GKVK) on management
of soil borne insect pests-termites, ants, white grubs,
cut worms.
Who won many national awards- Jawaharlal Nehru
award, he has published more than 200 research papers.

Inter campus Sports:
An inter-campus football & badminton was held on
29th Oct2012 to 1st Nov 2012. It has inaugurated by
an EX-ZP Mr.Satyanarayan.

STATUE ESTABLISHMENT:
In the college premises as a contribution made by the
final year students statues of Indian farmer,
Goddess saraswati, goddess Annapoorneshwari.

4. Hands on training (HOT) ACTIVITIES
Commercial Sericulture:
Establishment of mulberry raised nursery bed.
Raising of mulberry cuttings in polythene bags for the
purpose of transplantation and garden establishment.
Practical exposure to mulberry cultivation practices in
the nearby village âUdayapuraâ.

Commercial Bio fertilizer(s) production
Inoculation of microorganisms of commercial imp,
essential for plant growth and development
and soil fertility enhancement such as Trichoderma ,
Azatobacter, P-Solubilizing Bacteria and Bejeirinkia.
Establishment of âAzolla Demonstration Unitâ.
Mulberry Nursery
Commercial Seed Production
Commercial seed production in French Bean (pulses).
Establishment of raised nursery beds for different
crops such as maize, groundnut and cowpea to assess
the germination percentage
.
