Хід проведення:
I. Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! We’re glad to see you today at our
show.
II. Hello! Our today’s programme is dedicated to the great holiday of all
people who are in love – St. Valentine’s Day.
I. “If you want to be loved, then love,” – wrote Robert Bills. That’s why our
show will be full of laugh and jokes, songs and dances, and, of course, love, love,
love…
II. We’re sure it will be interesting to talk to our audience in the studio and
to listen to what they know about this day.
An interview with the audience.
I. Well, we’ve heard your opinions. And let’s listen to our experts. What can
they tell us about this wonderful holiday? You’re welcome.
Experts.
1. We’ll try to tell you in brief about the history of this holiday. It was
broughtto Britain by the Romans, who used to celebrate the return of spring at the
beginning of February.
2. But when Christianity arrived the Christians named the 14-th of
FebruarySt. Valentine’s Day. It became a tradition of hopeful lovers to send each
other gifts. Then cards replaced gifts.
1. Valentines often show a Cupid with an arrow. Cupid, also called Eros,
was an ancient Roman god of love. Theornaments that decorate valentines are the
symbols of love and friendship and have their special meaning. A ribbon means
“You are tied up” or “You are my girl”. Rice or a ring mean a wedding.
2. 2. In the early 19-th century there was a fashion for comic valentine
cards, and people even tried to offend each other with comic poems.
1. Times have changed and now we send our cards only to congratulate
each other and to remind people about our love and friendship.
II. Our experts have told us about the valentine cards containing words of
love and affection. And we want you to make your valentines.
I. Take some paper, take the scissors,
Cut a heart and then design.
Write a message in the middle:
“Will you be my Valentine?”
II. We need six participants who’ll compete in making the best valentine
cards. You may use everything you see here, on the table. You’ll have five minutes
to be ready. Try to be not only quick, but original.
A contest: “The best valentine card”.
I. And while our valentines are being made let’s listen to the greetings which
can be found in our cards.
Valentine cards’ poems.
***
I have a little
valentine
That someone sent
to me,
It’s pink and white
and red and blue
And pretty as can
be.
Forget-me-nots are
round the edge,
And tiny roses too;
And such a lovely
***
Modest as a violet, as
a rosebud sweet
That’s the kind of
little girl people like
to meet.
Bright as is a
diamond, pure as any
pearl,
Everyone rejoices in
such a little girl.
Happy as a robin,
gentle as a dove,
3. piece of lace,
The very palest
blue.
And in the center
there’s a heart
As red as red can
be!
And on its written
all in gold:
“To you with love
from me”.
That’s the kind of
little girl everyone
will love.
Fly away and seek
her, little song of
mine,
For I choose that very
girl as my Valentine.
***
My pretty angel, how are you?
Are you fine?
I want you always to be mine.
My pretty angel, you’ve broken my heart,
So we cannot be apart.
My pretty angel, you’re my first real love,
And I feel myself somewhere above!
My pretty angel, please tell me why
I cannot watch you without a cry…
II. Oh! I consider poetry to be the best way of expressing our feelings. I’d like to
hear one more poem about love written by Robert Burns.
“She Walks in Beauty” (+ translation).
She walks in Beauty like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which Heaven to gaudy day denies.
Она идет во всей красе –
Светла, как ночь ее страны.
Вся глубь небес и звезды все
В ее очах заключены.
Как солнце в утренней росе,
Но только мраком смягчены.
4. One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace.
Which waves in every raven tress
Or softly lightens o’er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express,
How pure, how dear their dwelling place.
And on this cheek, and o’er this brow
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent
The smiles that win, the tints that glow
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!
I. Are our valentine cards ready? We’ll define the
winner by your applause!
II. I’m not a poet and will never be able to rhyme
the lines. But love can be expressed in a quite different
way. For example, a dance.
A dance.
I. It was perfect! And can our guests express their
feelings without words? It must be rather difficult.
II. Everybody knows that people who’re in love understand each other
without long phrases and beautiful utterances. We need three boys and three girls
now.
I. Your task is to convince these girls that they are really appreciated by you
without any word. Show your feelings but keep silent!
A contest: Showing feelings without words.
II. It was great! Of course, love doesn’t need words at all!
I. I can’t agree with you. Everyone needs warm pleasant words which are
usually called compliments. Let’s try to compete in making them.
5. II. Two boys and two girls are welcome. Our gentlemen are to make one
step in the direction of their ladies giving a compliment. They will do it in turn and
the main task is not to repeat the words which have been said already.
A contest: Compliments.
I. Oh, yes. Nobody will ever convince me that there’s something more
simple and convenient to express our love than words.
They always help us.
II. Really? Just look at this!
Sketches (anecdotes).
1.
- No dinner ready! I’m going to a
restaurant!
- Couldn’t you wait for a few minutes?
- Will it be ready then?
- No, it won’t. But I’ll be ready myself to go with you!
2.
- Give me a kiss, darling!
- No, no. My mother is againstkissing!
- But, my dear, I don’t wantto kiss your mother!
3.
- Hi, Jane!
- Hi!
- Is your sister waiting for me?
- Yes, she’s really waiting.
- How do you know?
- She’s gone out.
4.
- You say I’m the first model you ever kissed?
- Yes.
- And how manymodels have you had before me?
6. - Four. An apple, two orangesand a vase of flowers.
I. Maybe you’re right and moreover I don’t want to argue with you today.
Let’s have a short rest and listen to a charming song.
“Love Story”
II. What a wonderful song! My legs are dancing even without my wish.
I. Do you really want to dance? There’s nothing simpler. And I suppose our
guests will do it with pleasure either.
II. We need three pairs who are ready to compete in dancing.
I. Dancing is a real art. Our pairs will dance on these newspapers, but they
should do it very carefully in order not to step on the floor.
II. Remember! Dance on papers only! No floor! You can’t touch it!
A contest: A dance on the newspapers.
I. Thank you for your dancing. And have you heard that love is blind?
II. You’ve hit the nail on the head. I can only add that it can be strange. Just
listen!
“A Pair”
They walked in the lane together,
The sky was covered with the stars,
They reached the gate in silence,
He lifted down the bars.
She neither smiled nor thanked him
Because she knew not how,
For he was just a farmer’s boy
And she – the farmer’s cow.
II. So, we’ve discussed different aspects of love, but we must never forget
that such feelings as greed, envy, jealousy can ruin our passion.
I. That’s why our main task is to protect our feelings. “There is only one
happiness in life, to love and to be loved,” – wrote George Sand.
II. Love each other with whole hearts and souls, help each other any time
your friends need your support.
7. I. Be happy and smile! And we want to finish our today’s programme with a
song. Let’s sing together!
“My Bonny”
II. Good-bye to you now!
I. And you’re welcome to our dancing party. Good-bye!
