3. The Villain
The antagonist who aims to stop the Hero. They are morally bad and the audience
does not support them. They also serve to highlight the hero’s qualities.
5. The Donor
Will give the Hero some sort of advice or gift (typically magical) to assist them.
6. The Helper
Arrives at critical moments to support the Hero and highlight the Hero’s qualities.
7. The Father
Father of the Princess who gives the task to the Hero. They may be protective of
the Princess and the Hero will have to earn their trust and respect.
The Father and the Princess may be difficult to distinguish.
8. The False Hero
Will appear to act heroically and may be mistaken for the Hero. Their goal is to steal
the Hero’s credit and marry the Princess.
9. The Dispatcher
Sends the hero on their mission.
Can be combined with the Father, the Princess, the Donor and the Helper.
