2. We’re pretty similar
• Founded in 2004
• OpenStreetMap Foundation, non-profit UK
limited company started in 2006
• Freely-licensed geospatial data contributed
by a community of volunteers
• It’s also enormously addictive

3. Contributing
• Get user account
• Collect traces with a GPS device with
GPX export.
• Other formats than GPX can be
converted using GPSBabel

4. Town and city
• There’s lots that needs doing, but it’s
mostly maintenance of existing content
(like WP!)
• To find things to do, go to the OSM wiki:
wiki.openstreetmap.org and type in city
– e.g. London.
• Metadata improvements, pubs,
churches, public toilets, schools, bus
stops etc.

loads to do!
