Introduction

Project Manager of AYUSH Resource Centre for North East, Guwahati, Mr. Sanjay Talukdar
accompanied by National Resource Expert, Ms. Gunamoni Das visited Manipur between 24th
August 2010 and 4th September 2010. The purpose of the visit was to do the Monitoring and
Evaluation; the progress of the Mission Scheme of the year 2009-10 under Manipur
Horticulture Department.

Reports on the meeting with following official is enclosed:

Following issues were discussed:



Mission Director informed that infrastructure at the two forest units i.e. Kangpokpi &
Tamenglong were not constructed by the Horticulture Department as the Forest officials
refused to accompany them to the site due to law and order situation.



However, the first installment of the model nursery was released and the second
installment was not released. The funds have been diverted to KVK, Imphal East and KVK,
Bishnupur where the construction has been completed and plantation of planting materials
is about to start after the rainy season.

Mission Director also mentioned two units of Model Nursery approved for the year 2010-10
will be setting up at two locations of Forest Department, for which the construction is ready
to start.



Nodal Officer, Mr. Birender Singh was requested to prepare a fresh utilization certificate of
Rs. 368.00 lakhs of sanction no Z.18020/54/2008-NMPB (Pt.) dt. 17.03.2009 as the previous
utilization certificate had some technical errors. Representatives of AYUSH Resource Centre
also requested to send the progress report in proper format to NMPB as soon as possible.



Nodal Officer, Mr. Birender Singh accompanied the representative of AYUSH Resource
Centre for the monitoring of the nursery and cultivation areas under National Mission on
Medicinal Plants (NMMP) scheme.



The nursery’s condition should be improved. Most of the seedlings belong to forest
