Similarities Between Superman And Beowulf
Spanning Centuries: The Hero s Legacy Beowulf and Superman, two extraordinary men, two
different times, with one thing in common: the traits of a true hero. Both of these individuals,
endowed with superhuman abilities, share such heroic characteristics as courage, strength, loyalty,
and devotion to a higher cause. While they share many attributes, there are also several differences
between Beowulf and Supermanincluding such things as their motives and the culture that
resulted in the birth of these heroes. The story of Beowulf was originally a poem passed on in
the oral tradition; however, as time passed it was recorded and passed on through literature. The
story portrays a land of great warriors and fierce monsters, a land where brave... Show more content

He fears that she would, as Boas states, feel intense displeasure (607) were she to know his true
identity. For Clark Kent, truly, the teachings of earlier childhood remain...the truth which is never
doubted (Boas 609). Ultimately, his love for Lois Lane forces Superman/Clark Kent to choose
which life to live. Deciding to live life as a mortal with Lois Lane, he must give up his powers.
Unknown to the pair, at the same time a trio of evil Kryptonians, all possessing the same powers
as Superman, have begun to enslave all of mankind. Upon hearing this, the powerless Clark Kent
decides that he must set aside his own feelings, and even the feelings of Lois Lane, in order to act
for the benefit of the majority. He acts against the desires of Clark Kent, and therefore the culture of
his Earth upbringing, and instead acts according to the responsibilities of a hero, therefore
embracing the culture of his Kryptonian parents. Clark Kent undergoes a rebirth as he succeeds in
regaining his powers, becoming Superman once again. Empowered with the strength and
determination to defeat his opponents, Superman conquers the evil Kryptonians and returns peace

Nexus 9 Research Paper
The year is 2019. Many technological advancements have been made, including establishing
colonies on other planets and creating human androids to work on these hazardous planets. Tyrell
Corporation has developed the latest model of androids called the NEXUS 6, referred to as
Replicants. Superior to humans in strength and agility, these androids are used for slave labor
despite having the same level of intelligence as their designers. There is only one flaw in the
NEXUS 6 models they have the ability to develop humanemotions and thus, develop the
understanding that they are being used as slaves. Many revolts have already taken place as the
Replicants become more aware. The only fail safe to stop this is the lifespan of the androids. The
engineers only have the androids four years to live, preventing them from developing too many
emotions or too much humanity. Those who do develop a sense of personhood attempt to escape
bondage and travel to earth in search of their creators. This has been ruled illegal and a special
police force, Blade Runner, is created to hunt down Replicants who have come to earth and
terminate them. Rick Deckard is an ex Blade Runner, retired after becoming guilty for killing, or
terminating, androids that look so human. When four Replicants try to infiltrate the Tyrell
Corporation but are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Fahrenheit 452
In our 21st century today, it is somewhat precise to how Ray Bradbury portrayed the future in his
novel Fahrenheit 451. Mildred Montag s fate really matches up to the people in our society.
Mildred, like many people today, are constantly on their technology devices and having no interest
in the outside world. If more and more people in our word become like Mrs. Montag, then we will
start losing interest in people and the world outside of technology.
Bradbury reveals to the readers that Mildred Montag has short term memory. Mildred easily
forgets what happened the night before when she overdosed on sleeping pills. Maybe you took
two pills and forgot and took two more, and forgot again and took two more, and were so dopey
you kept right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The things you re looking for, Montag, are in the world, but the only way the average chap will
ever see ninety nine per cent of them is in a book. Don t ask for guarantees. And don t look to be
saved in any one thing, person, machine, or library. Do your own bit of saving, and if you
drown, at least die knowing you were headed for shore (Bradbury 86). I believe that in the future,
when hard covered or soft covered books don t exist anymore because books can now be
purchased on any type of device or because people don t really read nowadays, we will for sure
miss books one day. Our world today does not read books as often as in the past because movies
are constantly being made from books and most people don t feel the need to read it, if they are
just going to go watch the movie. Reading books to me is like living in a different world because
it makes me see more of the struggles that people in our society face without me having to
actually experience it. I love the feeling of putting myself in the shoes of the main character and
seeing the journeys they go through with heartbreak, solving mysteries, or living in poverty and
finding ways to survive. I am most 100% sure that that is what Faber was trying to tell Montag and
Bradbury was saying to his readers. In Fahrenheit 451, there are many characters fates that match
up to our own fates. Mildred is an obsessed television watcher who talks to people as if she is

Family Centered Practice
Description of the major thrust of family centered practice
According to Sandau Beckler (2001), the primary drive of family centered practice is customer
empowerment . She defined empowerment as the process of negotiating or eliminating barriers to
problem solving imposed by external society (p. 86). Moreover, she elaborated that the therapist
should present the customer with prospects that would result in empowerment. Similarly, Cohen
(2004) mentioned that both the therapist and customer benefits from this expansion. she further
uttered, You become empowered as you assist in the empowerment of others (p.42).

The Importance Of Isolation In SocietyBy Lahiri
Lahiri shows that one s cultural upbringing and their ability to assimilate isolate a person from
others, that holding onto one s past and societies expectation for one to assimilate immediately
make it harder for individuals to assimilate into society, and that holding onto memories of your
past help you navigate through the loneliness. Isolation within society is caused by where one
comes from and if they are willing to conform to the norm in their new situation. Early in the short
story, lahiri shows the Sen s apartment to be out of the norm by describing all the quirks it has,
one of which is through their shoes. They are both didn t wear shoes in the house, instead they
wore flip flops. Yet later on that page Lahiri outs Eliot s mother by saying, Yet his mother, Eliot
thought, in her cuffed, beige shorts and her rope soled shoes, who looked odd. (Lahiri 112). In
this Lahiri shows how being isolated as the odd one in a situation depends on the actions of those
around you in society, and because she was the minority within this scenario, keeping her shoes on
while the others didn t wear shoes, she is the odd one out. This exemplifies how it is dependent on
your upbring and assimilationthat one is left out in the cold, because if she had been raised in a
similar area, she would know the custom or if she been observant enough she could have seen and
then adapted to be included. Unlike his mother, Eliot shows how through assimilationa person can
become less outed by the

Comparing Poems 100 I Believe And Ars Poetry
Poetry is the expression of emotion and ideas through the use of words. Ars Poetica #100: I Believe
by Elizabeth Alexander and Poetry by Marianne Moore are two poems that illustrate how each
author feels about poetry. They both express what it is about poetry that should be valued. Although
poetry can be misunderstanding, it exemplifies much purpose.
There are many different ways the two authors show how poetry is purposeful. One way is when
Alexander says, Poetry (here I hear myself loudest) is the human voice... This line is saying
poetry allows a person to express themselves. As she speaks at her loudest, she puts emphasis on
the human voice, making it authoritative. Another way Alexander expresses the purpose of poetry
is when she says, Poetry is what you find in the dirt in the corner, over hear on the bus, God in the
details... This line shows how poetry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alexander positions her poem in stanzas, while Moore s is a free verse (hers does not follow a
regular pattern of rhyme.) Alexander s whole poem is symbolic. She compares poetry to many
things. Alexander defines poetry when she says, Poetry, I tell my students, is idiosyncratic.
Idiosyncratic meaning distinctive, special, or individualistic. Her repetition of using poetry is in
each stanza explains what poetry is and is not. Moore, on the other hand, uses more imagery. She
uses some metaphors and similes. Moore is also very detailed in her description of what poetry is
and how valuable good poetry can be. A simile Moore uses is, The immovable critic twitching his
skin like a horse that feels a flea... Any person will instantly think of a horse, twitching with fleas.
Some metaphors she uses are imaginary gardens with real toads in them. With this metaphor, Moore
insists that true poetry should include both imagination and reality. A line that includes much
imagery is when Moore says, The

Bending of Beam Lab Report Essay
1. Objective:
The objective of this experiment is to demonstrate the bending of a bean when loaded at the center
of its length and examine its deflection when positioned in two different ways, when the flat side of
the beam is support and when the thin side is supported. In addition, try to find linear relationship
between the load applied and the deflection of the beam and comparing the experimental deflection
with the theoretical deflection.
If the load is applied at the mid length a=b=L/2 then mid span deflection is: Оґ = PL3/(48EI).
Where P is the applied force, L is the length of beam, E is the modulus of elasticity of aluminum,

among his many reformed doctrines, one of the most profound changes Luther made was the
removal of the Cannon of Mass. The Cannon of Mass refers to a long prayer used in the Roman
Mass, which included the Words of Institution. The certain elements of the cannon of mass included
a supplication to the prayer of saints. Luther was worried the Cannon of Mass had inadvertently
changed the celebration of the Eucharist to sacrifice rather than a sacrament. The elements of the
cannon of mass that Luther removed were the thanksgiving (anamnesis) and the invoking of the
Holy Spirit (epiclesis) but Luther did keep the words of institution since it was necessary for
veneration of the bread and wine. Although Luther rejected the cannon of mass also known as the
eucharistic prayer for theological reasons, he never objected to the Eucharistic on the grounds it
was a prayer. In his Formula, Missae, Luther attached the verbs in prayer form to the

This would be unintentionally making it harder to get over the relationship s ending.
There are several questions that the text informs us that we should be mindful of when we are
practicing Solution Focused Brief Therapy. The questions that we should ask include, but are not
limited to:
What brings you here?
What s already changing? Suppose a miracle happens?
What else will be different after the miracle?
How is the miracle happening even a little?
On a scale from zero to ten (how close are you to 10)?
What else can be done?
In my introductory counseling sessions I was able to ask my client several of these questions.
In my introductory session I asked Jean what brought her to speak with me. Note taking is to be
done after the first session unless you are writing down positive things to reinforce back to the
client. There is only a break in the first session if needed, anything else would be inappropriate.
After my first session I was able to reflect on our notes in preparation for my second session. In
my second session with her I asked her what else could be done in regard to making her
comfortable to speaking with professionals in the future. As Jean was thinking about goals I also
asked her to tell me what else had been changing since the beginning sessions. They questions really
helped me to gain perspective through the client s eyes.

Taking a Look at Electroencephalography
The field of neuroscience is rapidly expanding; recent understanding of brain function has expanded
the study of infant brains. Novel neuroscientific techniques will enhance treatment, diagnosis, and
growth of the infant brain. Interest in the treatment of neurological diseases and cures dates back
many years (Wendel, 2010) and with a new focus on the infant brainresearchers hope to find
answers that will pinpoint major causes of infant brain disorders.
Studies on the subject of human brain appear regularly in the fields of psychiatry and neuroscience.
Breakthroughs in the field are due primarily to technological advances in brain imaging, with most
studies employing at least one kind of brain scan to current research. The five most popular brain
scanning techniques are: Electroencephalography (EEG), Magnetoencephalography (MEG),
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Positron Emission Tomography (PET), and Computerized
Tomography (CT) (Scanning the brain, n.d., para. 4).
EEG, MEG, functional MRI (fMRI), and PET all play important roles in correlating a person s
neural metabolism and the activity of local cranial microvasculature with mental functions
(Wolbarst, Capasso, Wyant, 2013). Both EEG and MEG recordings capture neurophysiologically
generated signals with excellent temporal resolution (Wolbarst, Capasso, Wyant, 2013). Infant
brains, however, can be studied with either EEG or MEG. Because EEG is readily available in the
neuroscience lab, and we deal solely with

My Understanding Of Personality Theory
To demonstrate my understanding of personality theory, I choose to create a personality profile
for a close friend. She is a very driven individual with some unique interests. I wanted to evaluate
her personality because she is a very close friend of mine and I know her vary well. I chose
Allport s trait theory because he uses 3 types of traits to describe people. I liked the way he
organized traits in to types of traits. I think its easier to understand his theory because of the
organization. I organized my friend s traits in to 3 categories: central, secondary, and cardinal.
Allport s theory focuses on individual differences. His theory suggest that individuals differ in
the traits that predominate in there personalities. some traits are common; others are unique
(Cloninger 2013 page 128). He goes on to explain that some traits are individual or unique while
others are common. Central traits can affect everyday behaviors. these are traits that your close
friends or family would be able to point out if asked. Examples of my friends central traits would
be: optimistic, out spoken, individualistic, and extroverted. I use these terms to describe her
because I have noticed them consistently. Over time and various situations, I have seen her
behavior follow these traits. My friend is on the executive board of an RSO. She enjoys talking to

consequences and to be able to think of alternatives ahead of time. Swan also encouraged the
individuality of the employees by setting different guidelines for the different focus groups she
established. This ensured that while these teams will collaborate and work together, they will still
have to work individually according to their own guidelines. Swan also emphasized the importance
of communication by leading bi monthly Update Meetings, rotating the meetings leadership based
on the feedback from an internal survey, and opening lines of communication with employees who
were having tensions with other members or who wanted to communicate with Swan directly.

leadership style, one cannot help but reference Ancona s four leadership capabilities. In the
saturated media market, Swan was quick to prioritize capturing attention and differentiating the
brand in order to convince affiliates and advertisers to choose Nickelodeon over the plethora of
other channels. Furthermore, she knew the importance of signing up advertisers ahead of time,
even before there was a channel, in order to seal the corporate approval. These

Montresor s Attitude Towards Fortunato
The topic of the reading is about Montresor being cold and vengeful towards Fortunato. A reader
should be interested in this story due to it showing a side of the character that most authors won t
adventure into. Montresor speaks out about his disdain and hatred towards Fortunato. He is seeking
revenge on Fortunato by luring him to his death within the catacombs. It s clear by the evidence that
Montresor doesn t have any regret or a change of heart towards Fortunato during the story. First, I
will explain, Montresor s thirst for revenge is displayed very quickly within the first sentence and
he plans to act on it! THE thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could, but when he
ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge. The quote above shows that Montresor is seeking to
punish Fortunato. As is clearly represented in the last part of the quote which declares, I vowed
revenge. Additionally, it allows us to realize that he will be calculating and callous as he lures

He had a weak point this Fortunato although in other regards he was a man to be respected and

us to have an insight on what Fortunato s weakness is and how it can be exploited. We now
know that Montresor will use wine to his advantage and lure Fortunato into his own death. This
trickery works as Montresor is able to take him on a special trip to the catacombs, which will be
his last. At this moment, we see that Montresor wasn t lying when his deception began to claim

Britney Spears: Tragic Hero Almost everyone has some type of flaw, but not everyone s flaw is
as drastic as others. Possessing a flaw is completely normal as long as that flaw is kept under

Perry And Bussey s Theory Of Sex Essay
Perry and Bussey s (1979) study was motivated as a rebuttal to Maccoby and Jacklin s (1974)
claim that research and studies done up until then failed to give significant support to the theory
that sex differentials based on same sex model imitation as a mechanism for sex role development
was unimportant. Perry and Bussey contended this notion on two fronts. They repute current design
models used to test imitation of same sexmodels, stating that children are oftentimes given a single
stranger as a role model, maleor female, who preform mundane tasks and are then tested for
imitation of the model s response (Perry and Bussey, 1979, p.1700). This is nowhere near
reminiscent of real life scenarios in which a child has multiple examples of both same and
opposite sex models to compare and contrast sex appropriate social and cultural responses. They
also re examined how children code sex typing displays into long term memory by looking at
how children respond to models they found themselves to be similar to. To that end, Perry and
Bussey set up two related experiments that where designed to determine a) how might a child s
endorsement of an item be influenced by the frequencies with which same versus opposite sex
models display similar preferences and b) does the child imitate said same sex model more often
when they believe the model s behavior is appropriate due to a clear indication that the model is
behaving typically for his or her sex. In the first experiment Perry

Taking a Look at the Lynne Deposit
The Lynne deposit lies within the early Proterozoic Penokean fold belt of the southern province
of the Precambrian Shield. The fold belt is divided into two major terranes in Wisconsin (Sims
1989). The first is the northern Penokean terrane, which contains major oxide facies iron
formations and granitic intrusions (DeMatties 1989). The second major terrane, separated from
the Penokean terrane by the Niagara fault zone, is the Wisconsin magmatic terrane, characterized
by a volcanic island arc basin assemblage (Sims 1989). This southern terrane lacks major oxide
facies iron formations, but contains abundant tonalite granite intrusions (DeMatties 1989). The
Wisconsin magmatic terrane is further subdivided into the northern Pembine Wausau terrane and
the southern Marshfield terrane, which are separated by the Eau Pleine shear zone, a north
dipping subduction zone (Sims 1989). Sims et al. (1989) synthesized U Pb zircon ages for the
Pembine Wausau terrane. Sims concluded that the volcanic rocks were generated from around
1889 to 1860 Ma as island arcs and closed back arc basins above the south dipping subduction
zone (Niagara fault zone). Granitoid rocks in the terrane, emplaced from around 1870 to 1760 Ma,
are mainly granodiorite and tonalite but include gabbro, diorite, and granite. These developed as
island arcs above the Eau Pleine shear zone. The Niagara fault zone contains a relict ophiolite,
suggesting that the rocks in the Pembine Wausau terrane probably accumulated on

Plastic Surgery has become a wide topic in the United States. Plastic surgery is also known as, the
reconstruction surgery that involves the restoration of a function to a damaged body part and the
rebuilding of normal physical contours when parts of the body such as the nose, jaw, ears, or
fingers are missing or disfigured. Throughout the years, plastic surgeryhas become a well known
surgery. The overall percentage on plastic surgery dropped by forty percent for the first time in a
decade, total cosmetic procedures for women and men dropped below thirty one thousand that
was the lowest since the year od 2006. I believe that plastic surgery has very many cons towards
it. There are many statistics that prove that plastic surgery can be a harmful idea to the body.
However, there is also many positive thoughts when looking at the overall picture with plastic
surgery. According to the article Plastic Surgery pit is often done for purely cosmetic reasons, to
remove blemished, make unusual contours more normal, or improve self esteem. Plastic surgery
has caused many people to reach the cancer stage, or even pass away from coming in contact with

risks.

Changes in Consumer Behaviour Essays
Executive Summary
Consumer behaviours have changed over the years; this is shown by consumers today purchasing
a more healthy variety of products, as information today is known about products that was not
known many years ago. Factors such as these, change the way we perceive and value products, as
we now are more knowledgeable as well as manufacturers having by law to print the ingredients and
content of the products ingredients on the back of most food products, allowing consumers to
become more educated. The typical consumer today watches what they eat; they are more aware
and exposed to factors that have brought about change in consumer behaviours.

And also in some cases going to the extreme in stating that parents are slowly killing their children
with feeding them specific foods. This is a huge factor that has brought about changes in the way
consumers purchase and behaviour. Other factors are current events, such as when the 9/11 incident
occurred; a lot of patriotic Americans bought and consumed American made products to help the
American economy grow. The American government also put out campaigns to promote American
produced and made products to the public to change the views of consumer purchases. Just another
example of factors that support change in consumer behaviours.
Governments and consumer groups control or filter what information is known about certain
products. The Australian consumers association or ACA produces a magazine that informs
consumers about their rights and about the value and safety of products. The government on the
other hand works in conjunction with the health department to reveal the real truths about products,
such as the smoking campaign, that informs us of what really is in a cigarette and how much
damage it is doing to your body. These groups play a vital role in educating the consumers about
certain truths that need to be made aware to the consumers of today s health concise age.

The Treaty Of The Old Testament
In the days of the Old Testament, if you wanted to make a deal with someone, you could either
make a promise, or make a covenant with them. However, an important distinction needs to be
made here. A promise can be broken without severe consequence. To the people of the Ancient
Near East, a covenant closely resembled a Suzerainty Treaty; this was a legal bond between two
parties, one being the Suzerain with power, and another being the Vassal, that is agreeing to help
from the Suzerain. The treaty describes blessings that will occur from Suzerain to Vassal if the
treaty is upheld, and cursings if it is not. This document would be accompanied by a ceremony that

The sign of the covenant is a rainbow, mentioned in Gen. 9:13. Following such a devastating
scale of destruction by water, God wanted His bow to be a sign whenever clouds appeared that
He would be faithful to His covenant with all flesh on earth. The character of God described
through this covenant is His great care for every aspect of His creation. Through Genesis 9:9 11,
God describes in great detail who and what shall benefit from the covenant He makes with Noah.
He not only mentions Noah s immediate family (which in turn is the peoples of the earth), but
even goes as far to describe His care for the beasts of the earth. Busenlitz says The reason for
such detail is to make the divine concern for even the least of the creatures strongly apparent (p

Writing For The Instant Messaging And Text Messaging...
Another reason it is essential to place an emphasis on creative writing in the classroom is because
of today s rapidly developing society. As the world has become so technologically advanced, there
have become more and more ways for people to use written communication to express their
thoughts. Where there was once snail mail and emails, now things have become as instantaneous
as a text message or Tweet. Since people seem to write with such haste and almost carelessness
today, it is important for students to be provided with slower paced writingexploration in the
classroom. In Writing for the Instant Messaging and Text Messaging Generation: Using New
Literacies to Support Writing Instruction, Sheelah M. Sweeney states, Teachers may be concerned
about the way some students write [...] imagining the potential negative impact on their students
academic writing, but this interest can be an instructional advantage (Sweeney, 2010, p. 121).
While naturally there may be cause for concern with the way students can erroneously communicate
so quickly through the written word, the unease teachers may have will actually be a good thing for
students if these educators move forward with awareness instead of ignorance. Technology is one
aspect of society that will not be regressing in the future, and the best way educators can adapt to
this is by incorporating these advancements into the educationof students in years to come.
This article states that instead of shunning

Sports Are The Way Of Life
To many Americans sports have been the way of life. The people think that sports are one of the
main reasons why the different cultures and backgrounds have come together. Sports tend to
make people put all of their differences aside and make them communicate and possibly became
friends with people they would have never thought of. The effects of sports on people lives are
good because they teach good values and habits along with bringing people together as one.
Sports are at the center of our country and teaches a lot about good values. The U.S. citizens
often tend to take sports too far which was stated when President Clinton talks about how the
country is insane about sports and that they use sports as a way to how we act. Most Americans
would say that the only good thing about the country is the sports. They think sports is the only
place for people to get the same chances and where people work the hardest and it brings all the
people together (Saunders). Sports were probably the best thing that happened to the people in the
United Statesbecause Sports had become more of a way of life in American in which everyone

Themes In The Picture Of Dorian Gray
The Picture of Dorian Gray is a novel by Oscar Wilde, first published in 1890. In this novel, the
main character, Dorian Gray, has his soul trapped in a portrait which ages and records every
soul corrupting sin. Two main themes can be defined in this novel: desire, which is a strong
feeling of wanting to have something, or wishing something to happen; and pleasure, a feeling
of happy satisfaction and enjoyment. Therefore, forbidden pleasures and dark desires lead
Dorian Gray to be doomed. I m going to first examine Dorian Gray s desires, then the theme of
ruining lives, to end with living a life of pleasure. In the beginning of the novel, Dorian Gray is a

To start with, we could say that Basil Hallward was the one who launched it all. Firstly, he was
the one to paint the picture and also the one to introduce Dorian Gray to Lord Henry. But we can
also say that Lord Henry, with his hedonism ideas, was the main influence in Dorian s actions.
Having no idea whatsoever of the world as it is, Dorian was ignorant and innocent about it. Then
receiving ideas that pleasure is the means to life, he accepted them as universal truth, without
questioning them at all. And as soon as he began to believe in such things, everything fell apart.
Lord Henry finds confusing Dorian a source of pleasure, and he does not care if Dorian is going
down a path of destruction, by his philosophy,if it is amusing, it is good. Dorian only valued
Sybil as an aesthetic object. She was a living work of art, and when she couldn t act anymore,
she lost all of her value in the eyes of Dorian. He then broke up his engagement. As a sign of
what he was doing wrong, his painting showed the mark of his break up with Sybil, which meant
that it was also a pain to his soul, and it was the first time that the painting altered its appearance.
Without knowing it, Dorian was the cause to a great deal of pain, enough for that girl to kill herself

Analysis Of The House Of Mirth By Lara Saltz
Selden, in The House of Mirth, is a character that is part of the Elite class, but that doesn t allow
the constraints of the elites shadow his vision. In her essay, Lara Saltz argues Selden is able to
see real, poetic Lily because he possesses both an acute eye for what is materially in front of him
(Saltz 1). She continues on with this thesis, arguing that Selden posses a balance between
realism and imagination, that allows him to see the real Lily, during her performance of Sir
Joshua Reynold s pain, Mrs Lloyd. Evidence in the novel showing that Selden can see past the
illusions of high life, can be seen in Lily realizing that Selden is detached from the social world,
the discussion of love between Lily and Selden and Lily s final confrontation of Selden and
subsequent death. These three pieces of evidence support Saltz s assertion that Selden can see

with a focused scope on Stalin and Trotsky?
The Introduction
The leading historians told us so much information about the Russian Revolution starting from the
appearance of the new ideologies related to people like Carl Marx, many changes happened to the
Soviet society so that no one could predict what was going to happen. The dilemma was based on
the fact that many changes happened to the different classes of the Soviet society starting from the
leading class to the poorest one.
The Discussion of the Question of the Study
Many people in Russia who used to live in the basements during the Tsar Era had become living in
the upper rooms of the Tsar palaces. Everything had come upside down.
There are other changes related to the ideologies that moved life in Russia. These ideologies had
been gathered in a way or another under the slogan of communism . It seemed to be good for the
Soviet society in Russia as well but the consequences prove to be wrong.
Stalin was supposed the real leader who should implement the rules of communism but just like
Napoleon, he was the first to break these rules. Stalin used to live in a very luxurious life while the
Russian people were working and working and dying! The analogy between this reality and the ...

His greatest adversary was Trotsky, whom he battled on the direction that the revolution should
now go. Trotsky wanted to spread the revolution around the world as Marx had predicted. Stalin
argued that the Party must protect and rebuild Russia first. By using his supporters, and creating
deals with other powerful members of the party, Stalin was able to push Trotsky out of the Party in
1925. Trotsky was exiled to Siberia as punishment, and ultimately exiled out of the country. Fifteen
years later, Stalin had his secret police assassinate Trotsky in

The Four Primary Design Principles Of Service Oriented...
One of the four primary design principles of service oriented architecture is service reusability is
one of the design principles that are most commonly incorporated within the service model process.
The text defines service reusability as being responsible for defining the inventory blueprint,
grouping logic within the contexts of proposed agnostic service candidates and refining
functionality (Thomas, 2008). The goals of a traditional system does not differ much from this
model, because they both focus on identifying and refining functionality. The next most commonly
incorporated design principle is service autonomy. The service autonomy process involves gathering
and analyzing information about the system in order to prevent future mishaps.... Show more

I worked for a company named Fleet Management Expansion, which was responsible for
maintaining equipment readiness, data management systems and reporting. One of the issues
that we dealt with was linking our host systems to our client systems in real time. The
equipment that we had was separated by different unit ownership. Sometimes the equipment was
located in separated areas from the main location. In these instances, we had to set up client data
management systems that displayed in real time with the host systems. Setting this up in a top
down sequence would not be feasible for this operation, because the main focus is not on the
subsystem (client), the host has to be set up properly before the focus could lean toward the
client. If the client system had to be reverse engineered in order to setup the host system, then
the top down model would be sufficient. In our case we used the bottom up model to set up our
data management systems. We made sure that all the details were covered at the host level first
and then moved on to the client. We made sure that the time zone was in sync, oracle was set up
properly in order for the systems to interface and the data that was in the systems was input
correctly. Afterwards, we made a backup of the host system and loaded it on the client system;
allowing changes to be made on both ends in real

Essay On Battle Of Canada
Because of the war, we became the lord of the world. It spent us forty years to spread before we
unified again. They were the words America and Germany used to describe World War Two. One
of the other countries which was also very important was called Canada. .During World War Two,
they won a lot of battles such as Battle of Dieppe , Battle of Ortona and Normandy Landing as
well. The three battles were very important for Canadabecause they were the sign to show how
brave and independent Canada was, how they were as strong as an independent country rather than
a colony as well as their faith for the victory of World War Two.

chosen from select units. The units chosen were from the medical unit and critical care units.
The size of the sample consisted of 42 nurses. The nurses were chosen from various management
levels. Interviews were conducted on 11 staff nurses, 12 charge nurses, 10 head nurses, and 9
supervisors. There were 33 females and 9 males in the study. Most participates had a BSN and
had an average of five years charge nurse experience. The size of the study was adequate because

Southwest United States. The study addresses the fact that there are differences in military versus
civilian nursing. The major difference is that military nursing must deal with issues such as
deployment. The study also states that the information would be applicable to and benefit both
areas of nursing. Data Collection Methods After the participants were chosen, then interviews were
conducted using format open ended questions. В… A qualitative interview approach was thought
to be the best means of exploring expectations people had for the role (Connelly et al., 2003, p.

1. Describe the corporate culture at Sealed Air. What is its business model? How do they make

Since its start Sealed Air s goal has been a position as a market leader and as a constant

market leader was also inspired by greater and sustainable profits which have always been assured
for the market leader. Continuing analysis of customer needs was based on this corporate behavior

First, since the firm has been a historic champion of barrier coating , starting producing a product
which has been characterized by the very firm as weaker and lower quality would go against the
very major message of the company and its cost effectiveness approach. This would at least put
under question mark the image of the company and its philosophy, at most render almost futile all
its market education efforts of more than a decade. Anyway, as mentioned, GAFCEL s success
did not come about as a result of creating additional market but rather of gaining a portion of
market previously occupied by Astro. It is not that the profit margins were low for the uncoated
products (indeed, these hovered around 60 70%), but the change in the product line would have
been against the whole idea of Sealed Air. And the firm had very goodbrand awareness and the
American customer was opting for quality and cost effectiveness.
In contrast to the American market, the emergence of new competitors on the European market
seemed to have the potential of a much more powerful impact. The European customer was not
that educated about the product and many regarded packaging supplies as expendable commodities
, making the price in this market a key driving determinant of purchase choice. In this context, the
decision to diversify by enlarging the product line into uncoated bubble packaging material would
have a lesser effect on firm s image. Also, faced

Gdp Per Capita As An Indicator Of Standard Of Living
GDP per Capita As an indicator of standard of living GDP per capita is the market value of the
final goods and services produced in a country during a given period per person (McDowell et al.
2012). This could also be explained as a measure of quantity of goods and services available to a
typical resident of the country at a particular period. GDP per capita is used as an indicator of
standard of living because it reflects the accessibility of goods and services to a person. GPD
counts only the goods and services that have market value but they are just one of the measures
of standard of living. There are many other factors that affects standard of living and do not
contribute to GDP, e.g. environmental quality and leisure time (McDowell et al. 2012). China
has been facing serious ecological problem (e.g. water and air quality) while its economic grows.
Nonetheless, environmental quality cannot be bought or sold in the market, the issue is not
demonstrated in China s GDP. Other than that, leisure time available to a person can affect his
standard of living. The person is better off if he can enjoy more leisure activity. But leisure time is
not priced in market, and it does not give a rise in GDP. Another problem of using GDP per capita
is that it neglects purchasing power. Table 1 Real GDP per capita at 2013 (US$)Real GDP per

How Did Daniel Defoe s Death Affect Society
A dreadful plague in London was In the year sixty five, Which swept an hundred thousand souls
Away; yet I alive (Defoe 159). This cry by H.F. is a fascinating statement of a survivor of the 1665
Plague in London. The distribution of burdens in the book was unequal. Personally, Daniel Defoe
was not as impacted as society was as a whole. The intervention of government is supported as
effective but the aftermath of the events reveals the standards that were perpetuated during the
plague were not established as a permanent social institute.

end, Defoe also offered a contrast to this societal standard with, ...the morals of the people declined

immoralities than they were before... (147). The plague culminated in a interesting phenomenon of
compassion and tolerance from many English communities but that equal leveling of social classes
was not an enduring consequence of the Bubonic Plague, it was an exception to the rule. After the
plague had passed over London, the people returned to their normal class structure and what good
conduct transpired during the Bubonic Plague was

The House On Mango Street Identity Analysis
The House On Mango Street, written by Sandra Cisneros, tells the story of a poor Latina teenager
named Esperanza growing up in America. Esperanza, the main character, is a kind and helpful girl.
Many factors, like her moving around often and not liking her name, contribute to Esperanza s
identity. However, growing up in a poor Chicago neighborhood contribute most to Esperanza s
identity. The biggest factor that shaped Esperanza s identity is the environment in which she grows
up in. Growing up in her neighborhood thought Esperanza that sometimes the world s judgement is
unfair. Those who don t know any better come into our neighborhood scared. They think we are

In her neighborhood there is a junk store where the shopkeeper will only turn the lights if you
have the money to buy something. When she wanted to experience eating in the lunchroom, the
lunch lady was so unpleasant to her that she cried. One day I ll own my own house, but I won t
forget who I am or where I came from. Passing bums will ask, Can I come in? I ll offer them the
attic, ask them to stay, because I know how it is to be without a house (87). This shows that
Esperanza will be kind to those below her unlike the shopkeeper and the lunch lady. This makes
her a kind hearted human being and that is part of who she is. Growing up in a poor Chicago
neighborhood shaped Esperanza to be a kind, compassionate person who knows her worth and
doesn t judge people by sight. Some may argue that moving around often is a more important
aspect of Esperanza s identity than growing up in the neighborhood that she did. They may assert
that because moving around a lot caused her to become a self reliant person. Esperanza did not
form many connections with people her own age. However, growing up in her neighborhood
caused her to mature as a human and give her the characteristic that make her who she is. As you
can see, growing up in the neighborhood that she did, contribute most to Esperanza s identity. It
caused her to be a self loving, kind, compassionate and not judging

Santa Ana Winds Comparison Rhetorical Analysis
The Santa Ana Winds The Santa Ana by Joan Didion and Brush Fire by Linda Thomas offer
complete separate views to a similar topic, the winds of Southern California. In a first person
narration the authors write of the wind from her own experience of living in California and from
her own perspective, shedding light on two very different aspects of the Santa Ana winds.
Physically, both pieces of literature are different. Each story reflects its own writer as The Santa

Didion personifies the wind as almost an unknown epidemic. Similar to when an unknown
disease goes viral, all walks of life are affected. Didion clearly states how teachers, students,
doctors, to physicists, to generally everyone becomes unhappy and uncomfortable during the
winds. She does not write of how the wind caused fire to ravage the shrublands, but she writes of
the symptoms it inflicts on the people. Didion mentions all the after effects of the wind and the
harm it can do like inflict paranoia. She mentions how the fear stricken victims of southern
California are paranoid like her neighbor that refuses to leave the house and her husband who
roams with a machete. Didion s personification of the wind focuses on a fearful and distant light. In
contrast, Thomas approaches the Santa Ana winds as a routinely destructive awe. Though Thomas
focuses more on the fire caused by the wind, then the wind itself, Thomas casts a soft light on the
winds. She believes that the winds are not destructive, but that humans are and the winds only do
what they must. She and her neighbors gather around and watch the brushfire destroy a hill in the
distance, a casual pastime like watching stars. Thomas casually explains in paragraph three of
Brush Fire , the burning of chaparral during these winds is normal . She implies that the winds
cause of destroying the Southern California land is natural, a simple part of nature. Thomas does
not fear the winds like Didion, she admires the

White Christmas Literary Devices
Dreaming of A White Christmas was written by Bing Crosby during the year of 1942. This
typical song has a different hook that got my attention. The title was the hook for me because it
said Dreaming of A White Christmas it s a very different title to other songs. Bing Crosby wrote
this song because he had a purpose to tell parents and us they key memories. Key memories of
the holiday season that most people love and cherish. This song had some literary devices I
wanted to discuss. One of the literary devices that got my attention was imagery. This song has
imagery because in (1:1) it say White Christmas this makes me imagine the snow falling during
the time in December. You can also imagine people having fun, spending time with their family
during a White Christma. Another imagery that many people can imagine is (1:6) With every
Christmas card i write it makes you imagine. It gives you a sense of people sending Christmas
cards to their family or to special people. The last imagery is my favorite one. Its is (1:12) To hear

Bing Crosby used rhyming to make the song have a beat to it. In (1:1,2) this is rhyming going
on there. The rhyming is between the word know and snow. Bing Crosby did a good job of
rhyming with this song. In (1: 3) you can also find rhyming their with the words treetops glisten
and children listen. The writer made a good job because if treetops glisten children will listen.
Most of his rhymes are typical human extinct. The rhyming that got me curious was the rhyming in
(1: 6,7,8) because he ended all his sentences with words that rhyme and he did not do that with his
other lyrics. This one literary device that got me

Similarities Between Superman And Beowulf Spanning Centuries: The Hero s Legacy Beowulf and Superman, two extraordinary men, two different times, with one thing in common: the traits of a true hero. Both of these individuals, endowed with superhuman abilities, share such heroic characteristics as courage, strength, loyalty, and devotion to a higher cause. While they share many attributes, there are also several differences between Beowulf and Supermanincluding such things as their motives and the culture that resulted in the birth of these heroes. The story of Beowulf was originally a poem passed on in the oral tradition; however, as time passed it was recorded and passed on through literature. Unknown to the pair, at the same time a trio of evil Kryptonians, all possessing the same powers as Superman, have begun to enslave all of mankind. Upon hearing this, the powerless Clark Kent decides that he must set aside his own feelings, and even the feelings of Lois Lane, in order to act for the benefit of the majority. He acts against the desires of Clark Kent, and therefore the culture of his Earth upbringing, and instead acts according to the responsibilities of a hero, therefore embracing the culture of his Kryptonian parents. • 4. Nexus 9 Research Paper The year is 2019. Many technological advancements have been made, including establishing colonies on other planets and creating human androids to work on these hazardous planets. Tyrell Corporation has developed the latest model of androids called the NEXUS 6, referred to as Replicants. Superior to humans in strength and agility, these androids are used for slave labor despite having the same level of intelligence as their designers. There is only one flaw in the NEXUS 6 models they have the ability to develop humanemotions and thus, develop the understanding that they are being used as slaves. Many revolts have already taken place as the Replicants become more aware. The only fail safe to stop this is the lifespan of the androids. The engineers only have the androids four years to live, preventing them from developing too many emotions or too much humanity. Those who do develop a sense of personhood attempt to escape bondage and travel to earth in search of their creators. This has been ruled illegal and a special police force, Blade Runner, is created to hunt down Replicants who have come to earth and terminate them. Rick Deckard is an ex Blade Runner, retired after becoming guilty for killing, or terminating, androids that look so human. When four Replicants try to infiltrate the Tyrell Corporation but are... • 5. Fahrenheit 452 In our 21st century today, it is somewhat precise to how Ray Bradbury portrayed the future in his novel Fahrenheit 451. Mildred Montag s fate really matches up to the people in our society. Mildred, like many people today, are constantly on their technology devices and having no interest in the outside world. If more and more people in our word become like Mrs. Montag, then we will start losing interest in people and the world outside of technology. Bradbury reveals to the readers that Mildred Montag has short term memory. Mildred easily forgets what happened the night before when she overdosed on sleeping pills. The things you re looking for, Montag, are in the world, but the only way the average chap will ever see ninety nine per cent of them is in a book. Don t ask for guarantees. And don t look to be saved in any one thing, person, machine, or library. Do your own bit of saving, and if you drown, at least die knowing you were headed for shore (Bradbury 86). I believe that in the future, when hard covered or soft covered books don t exist anymore because books can now be purchased on any type of device or because people don t really read nowadays, we will for sure miss books one day. Our world today does not read books as often as in the past because movies are constantly being made from books and most people don t feel the need to read it, if they are just going to go watch the movie. Reading books to me is like living in a different world because it makes me see more of the struggles that people in our society face without me having to actually experience it. I love the feeling of putting myself in the shoes of the main character and seeing the journeys they go through with heartbreak, solving mysteries, or living in poverty and finding ways to survive. I am most 100% sure that that is what Faber was trying to tell Montag and Bradbury was saying to his readers. In Fahrenheit 451, there are many characters fates that match up to our own fates. She defined empowerment as the process of negotiating or eliminating barriers to problem solving imposed by external society (p. 86). Moreover, she elaborated that the therapist should present the customer with prospects that would result in empowerment. Similarly, Cohen (2004) mentioned that both the therapist and customer benefits from this expansion. she further uttered, You become empowered as you assist in the empowerment of others (p.42). • 7. The Importance Of Isolation In SocietyBy Lahiri Lahiri shows that one s cultural upbringing and their ability to assimilate isolate a person from others, that holding onto one s past and societies expectation for one to assimilate immediately make it harder for individuals to assimilate into society, and that holding onto memories of your past help you navigate through the loneliness. Isolation within society is caused by where one comes from and if they are willing to conform to the norm in their new situation. Early in the short story, lahiri shows the Sen s apartment to be out of the norm by describing all the quirks it has, one of which is through their shoes. They are both didn t wear shoes in the house, instead they wore flip flops. Yet later on that page Lahiri outs Eliot s mother by saying, Yet his mother, Eliot thought, in her cuffed, beige shorts and her rope soled shoes, who looked odd. (Lahiri 112). In this Lahiri shows how being isolated as the odd one in a situation depends on the actions of those around you in society, and because she was the minority within this scenario, keeping her shoes on while the others didn t wear shoes, she is the odd one out. This exemplifies how it is dependent on your upbring and assimilationthat one is left out in the cold, because if she had been raised in a similar area, she would know the custom or if she been observant enough she could have seen and then adapted to be included. Unlike his mother, Eliot shows how through assimilationa person can become less outed by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Comparing Poems 100 I Believe And Ars Poetry Poetry is the expression of emotion and ideas through the use of words. Ars Poetica #100: I Believe by Elizabeth Alexander and Poetry by Marianne Moore are two poems that illustrate how each author feels about poetry. They both express what it is about poetry that should be valued. Although poetry can be misunderstanding, it exemplifies much purpose. There are many different ways the two authors show how poetry is purposeful. One way is when Alexander says, Poetry (here I hear myself loudest) is the human voice... This line is saying poetry allows a person to express themselves. As she speaks at her loudest, she puts emphasis on the human voice, making it authoritative. Her repetition of using poetry is in each stanza explains what poetry is and is not. Moore, on the other hand, uses more imagery. She uses some metaphors and similes. Moore is also very detailed in her description of what poetry is and how valuable good poetry can be. A simile Moore uses is, The immovable critic twitching his skin like a horse that feels a flea... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... among his many reformed doctrines, one of the most profound changes Luther made was the removal of the Cannon of Mass. The Cannon of Mass refers to a long prayer used in the Roman Mass, which included the Words of Institution. The certain elements of the cannon of mass included a supplication to the prayer of saints. Luther was worried the Cannon of Mass had inadvertently changed the celebration of the Eucharist to sacrifice rather than a sacrament. The elements of the cannon of mass that Luther removed were the thanksgiving (anamnesis) and the invoking of the Holy Spirit (epiclesis) but Luther did keep the words of institution since it was necessary for veneration of the bread and wine. Perry And Bussey s Theory Of Sex Essay Perry and Bussey s (1979) study was motivated as a rebuttal to Maccoby and Jacklin s (1974) claim that research and studies done up until then failed to give significant support to the theory that sex differentials based on same sex model imitation as a mechanism for sex role development was unimportant. Perry and Bussey contended this notion on two fronts. They repute current design models used to test imitation of same sexmodels, stating that children are oftentimes given a single stranger as a role model, maleor female, who preform mundane tasks and are then tested for imitation of the model s response (Perry and Bussey, 1979, p.1700). This is nowhere near reminiscent of real life scenarios in which a child has multiple examples of both same and opposite sex models to compare and contrast sex appropriate social and cultural responses. They also re examined how children code sex typing displays into long term memory by looking at how children respond to models they found themselves to be similar to. To that end, Perry and Bussey set up two related experiments that where designed to determine a) how might a child s endorsement of an item be influenced by the frequencies with which same versus opposite sex models display similar preferences and b) does the child imitate said same sex model more often when they believe the model s behavior is appropriate due to a clear indication that the model is behaving typically for his or her sex. The fold belt is divided into two major terranes in Wisconsin (Sims 1989). The second major terrane, separated from the Penokean terrane by the Niagara fault zone, is the Wisconsin magmatic terrane, characterized by a volcanic island arc basin assemblage (Sims 1989). This southern terrane lacks major oxide facies iron formations, but contains abundant tonalite granite intrusions (DeMatties 1989). The Wisconsin magmatic terrane is further subdivided into the northern Pembine Wausau terrane and the southern Marshfield terrane, which are separated by the Eau Pleine shear zone, a north dipping subduction zone (Sims 1989). Sims et al. (1989) synthesized U Pb zircon ages for the Pembine Wausau terrane. Sims concluded that the volcanic rocks were generated from around 1889 to 1860 Ma as island arcs and closed back arc basins above the south dipping subduction zone (Niagara fault zone). Granitoid rocks in the terrane, emplaced from around 1870 to 1760 Ma, are mainly granodiorite and tonalite but include gabbro, diorite, and granite. • 35. Writing For The Instant Messaging And Text Messaging... Another reason it is essential to place an emphasis on creative writing in the classroom is because of today s rapidly developing society. As the world has become so technologically advanced, there have become more and more ways for people to use written communication to express their thoughts. Where there was once snail mail and emails, now things have become as instantaneous as a text message or Tweet. Since people seem to write with such haste and almost carelessness today, it is important for students to be provided with slower paced writingexploration in the classroom. In Writing for the Instant Messaging and Text Messaging Generation: Using New Literacies to Support Writing Instruction, Sheelah M. Sweeney states, Teachers may be concerned about the way some students write [...] imagining the potential negative impact on their students academic writing, but this interest can be an instructional advantage (Sweeney, 2010, p. 121). While naturally there may be cause for concern with the way students can erroneously communicate so quickly through the written word, the unease teachers may have will actually be a good thing for students if these educators move forward with awareness instead of ignorance. Technology is one aspect of society that will not be regressing in the future, and the best way educators can adapt to this is by incorporating these advancements into the educationof students in years to come. In this novel, the main character, Dorian Gray, has his soul trapped in a portrait which ages and records every soul corrupting sin. Two main themes can be defined in this novel: desire, which is a strong feeling of wanting to have something, or wishing something to happen; and pleasure, a feeling of happy satisfaction and enjoyment. Therefore, forbidden pleasures and dark desires lead Dorian Gray to be doomed. In her essay, Lara Saltz argues Selden is able to see real, poetic Lily because he possesses both an acute eye for what is materially in front of him (Saltz 1). She continues on with this thesis, arguing that Selden posses a balance between realism and imagination, that allows him to see the real Lily, during her performance of Sir Joshua Reynold s pain, Mrs Lloyd. Evidence in the novel showing that Selden can see past the illusions of high life, can be seen in Lily realizing that Selden is detached from the social world, the discussion of love between Lily and Selden and Lily s final confrontation of Selden and subsequent death. These three pieces of evidence support Saltz s assertion that Selden can see things for what they really are due to his ability to balance realism and imagination. Setting this up in a top down sequence would not be feasible for this operation, because the main focus is not on the subsystem (client), the host has to be set up properly before the focus could lean toward the client. If the client system had to be reverse engineered in order to setup the host system, then the top down model would be sufficient. In our case we used the bottom up model to set up our data management systems. We made sure that all the details were covered at the host level first and then moved on to the client. We made sure that the time zone was in sync, oracle was set up properly in order for the systems to interface and the data that was in the systems was input correctly. Gdp Per Capita As An Indicator Of Standard Of Living GDP per Capita As an indicator of standard of living GDP per capita is the market value of the final goods and services produced in a country during a given period per person (McDowell et al. 2012). This could also be explained as a measure of quantity of goods and services available to a typical resident of the country at a particular period. GDP per capita is used as an indicator of standard of living because it reflects the accessibility of goods and services to a person. GPD counts only the goods and services that have market value but they are just one of the measures of standard of living. There are many other factors that affects standard of living and do not contribute to GDP, e.g. environmental quality and leisure time (McDowell et al. 2012). China has been facing serious ecological problem (e.g. water and air quality) while its economic grows. Nonetheless, environmental quality cannot be bought or sold in the market, the issue is not demonstrated in China s GDP. Other than that, leisure time available to a person can affect his standard of living. The person is better off if he can enjoy more leisure activity. But leisure time is not priced in market, and it does not give a rise in GDP. Another problem of using GDP per capita is that it neglects purchasing power.
