The Faculty Jazz Ensemble was on Monday, November 9 in the Westbrook Music Hall. The
Performers included Peter Bouffard on guitar, Paul Haar on saxophone, Dave Hall on drums,

Cord of Three Strands composed by Darryl White. It was in a minor mode and was in triple meter.
The piece started off with a calm piano dynamic and homophonic texture with the trumpet playing
the melody over the drums, bass, and piano playing a countermelody underneath. The trumpet soon
fades out with a cadence and the saxophone comes in with a deeper more calming sound than the
trumpet, again with a homophonic texture. The piece reminds me of a calm pouring rain. When
the saxophone and trumpet are included, the rain picks up and when it is just the drums, bass, and
piano it is like a slight drizzle of rain. The piece fizzles out in the end with a clam cadence.... Show

Oxford University study in England.

Tetanus Tetanus is an infection caused by the Clostridium tetani bacteria, also written C. tetani.
The C. tatani bacterium is gram positive and shaped like a slender rod, once it has developed a
terminal spore it may resemble a drumstick (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC],
2015). The actual bacteria are heat sensitive and cannot survive when there is oxygen present, the
spores on the other hand are very heat resistant and can survive the presence of oxygen (CDC,
2015). Cases of tetanus continue to shrink in the United States and other developed countries
thanks to the availability of the tetanus vaccination; however, in underdeveloped countries tetanus
is still a major problem. Tetanus presents with various visible signs and symptoms which may vary
based on the type of tetanus. The type of tetanus will also determine the methods used to treat the
infection.
Epidemiology
Tetanus can occur anywhere in the world. You will find occurrences of this infection more
frequently in hot, damp climates with highly populated areas (CDC, 2015). The spores of the C.
tetani bacterium are found in unassuming locations such as the soil in your garden, especially if

provided universal free healthcare coverage for its citizens. Since its enactment, 75% of Brazil s
population now rely on Sistema Гљnico de SaГєde (SUS) as their sole provider of health coverage,
making it the largest public health system in the world (World Health Organization). SUS receives
its funding primarily through federal and local taxation totaling $208 billion (Deliotte).
However, this large amount of spending is not reflected in the quality of healthcare provided to
Brazilians. Brazil has an estimated 2.5 hospital beds per 1,000 citizens and the beds are of bad
quality and are poorly distributed (Deliotte). Brazil s Federal Medical Council conducted a
survey that showed 93% of Brazilians considered the healthcare systems to be either very bad or
mediocre (Deliotte). While more Brazilians have access to healthcare than ever before, the quality
of care does not meet the requirements that would allow the system to be truly effective. Despite its

The argument here that exists is that Ubuntu has no historic significance or cultural value. Its
source and origin cannot be identified as it is still believed to be a discourse that was just
invented for the sake of it. This is why many critics have gone to great lengths to comment that this
terminology is empty and does not have any concrete relevance or even origination and should be
discarded instead of being commercialized or made popular. The societies that practiced Ubuntu
cannot be found either which further weaken the position of this term and its emergence as a value.

Sexually transmitted diseases are caused by a wide range of viruses. The most common viruses are:
HIV 1, HSV 1/2, and HPV. Often the contraction of these viruses goes undiagnosed until the patient
has acquired severe symptoms, by this time they have also transferred the disease to another
individual. For this reason, the importance of developing and understanding immunotherapeutic
strategies has become essential for immunologists (5). There are many factors that contribute to
viral infection, therefore, targeting these virus specific factors is a key to preventing viral spread to

Cytokine therapy has been a crucial advance in the treatment of HIV because this disease is highly
affiliated with cytokine production. Cytokines are inserted in tumor cells as immune stimulatory
genes (5). Following insertion, the patient is injected with a cytokine based vaccine which is used
as a therapeutic measure for cancer prevention in patients that have HPV. Activation of cytokines
(IL 2, IL 12, GM CSF) have been theorized to inhibit the growth on tumors. HIV is linked to a
decline of the host s immune system response and decrease of CD4 T cells, therefore cytokine
therapy enables the production of these cells by treating patients with IL 2 (5). HPV has been
associated with cancer and there is no cure for HPV, however, there are preventative and therapeutic
medications (2,6). In the case of HPV vaccination, natural killer cells are activated which induce an
immune response. Immune modulators have suppressive and stimulatory effects on macrophages.
Stimulation allows for the secretion of cytokines which allows the immune system to produce
antibodies due to the high antigen presentation in dendritic cells.
Although these viruses often remain undetected, HSV typically causes a more visible and painful
reaction in the infected tissues. Shedding of the HSV virus is prominent when the symptoms occur
