Essay thomas eakins
Thomas Eakins nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Thomas Eakins was born on July 25, 1844, in
Philadelphia, and with the exception of four years of study in Paris and Spain, the city remained
his home. Its school, public and private art collections, and community of artists, many of whom
were recent emigrants from Europe trained in the academic tradition and familiar with new artistic
styles, provided Eakins with an unusually wide ranging art education for an American artist of his
day. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; When Eakins arrived in Paris in 1866 to continue his art studies,

summer. He had used photographs from the other sources as aids for his painting in the 1870 s,
but the acquisition of his own camera inspired a period of intensive investigation of photography

How Does Duckweed Grow
Duckweed (lemnaceae) is a plant the reproduces by duplicating itself. It s remarkable because it
can survive in extreme environments with temperate climates with the exception of frozen poles
and dry deserts, explains naturina.per.sg. It is a prime example of exponential growth because as
naturina.per.sg reports it can double in as a few as 2 days. This is possible because under ideal
conditions it has all the nutrients to spark growth. NPK Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium are
nutrients essential to the growth of plants. Duckweed holds the remarkable ability to clean a
variety of levels of polluted water. Research conducted by R A Leng in duckweed s potential for a
high protein resource explains that duckweed was able to remove contaminants

Airbags Flaws
Have you ever wondered why we need airbags? Cars have been around for multiple years now
and have had many flaws. Many tests have been done to prevent these flaws. People are
debating on if airbags are one of those flaws. People may believe that they don t stop people
from getting hurt. This is incorrect because of Newton s first law. To start, Newton s first law is
about motion and inertia. According to our textbook, when a car crashes, the momentum will be 0.
The shorter the time, the greater the force will be. With airbags, the momentum is slowed down in
a shorter amount of time, which leads to a smaller force (Video). The video showed us that when
you throw an egg at a wall, it will break instantly, but if you threw an egg at a curtain,

Nicaragu The Spanish Speaking Nation Of Nicaragua
In the heart of Central America lies the Spanish speaking nation of Nicaragua. Officially titled the
Republic of Nicaragua , there have been multiple stories of how the country got its name, the most
prominent story says that during the time the Spanish invaded, Nicaragua took its name from an
indigenous chief named Nicarao who was ruler of the region. Fast forwarding the history: Three
hundred years of Spanish colonialism, a hundred years of totalitarian ruling by multiple presidents ,
and thirty years of Somoza family dictatorship, Nicaraguaunderwent the Sandinista revolution in
1979 to create a socialist society. Despite socialism having a track record of failure, there was
great advancements in literacy and overall education, as well as improvement the nations GDP.
However, the 1980 s were engrossed in destructive guerilla wars and political blunder sending the
nation into a downward spiral.
Political History
Though titled as a democratic nation, the early years of Nicaragua s political ruling was taken by
tyrannical rule, namely the Somoza family who publicly used violence to silence opposition or
potential opponents. The end of their rule resulted in the creation of a constitution that ensured
political rights to the people while suppressing the power of those in power as well as setting a
limit on how long one could stay in office. Since 1987, the supreme law of the country is the The
Political Constitution of Nicaragua , control of the constitution is exercised

Concentration Camp Research Papers
Research paper
What was it like in the Concentration Camps? The concentration camp is where Jews were killed
and starved. Many were killed in gas chambers and many died of typhus. Jews were kept in camps
to be punished by Hitler.
My body paragraph 1 is why were they created. Many Jews died in these camps because they were
never fed. It was horrible to live in them that s why people went into hiding. They used numbers
to call you during roll call and it was tattooed on their arms. They were tattooed on their arms so,
if any escaped they would know because they wouldn t answer so that means they are gone. If a

Summary Of Junot Diaz s Drown
LANGUAGE AND RACE IN JUNOT DIAZ S LITERATURE
Between 1960 and 1986, more than 400,000 Dominicans migrated legally from the Dominican
Republic to the United States, especially to New York and New Jersey, and many thousands more,
illegally. By the 90 МЃs they had become the second largest Hispanic group in the Northeast this
has generated important consequences for the Dominicans migrating to the US, for their families in
the Dominican Republic and for Americans in general. Today, with the Hispanic community
being the largest minority in the U.S. and with projections of growth at a fast rate, the
Dominican diaspora is another example of the integration of a Hispanic subgroup into American
life and society. I would like to focus on a specific aspect of this event, namely the self
consciousness of racial identity in this community of migrants. To do so, I will use the literature
of Junot Diaz. ...Diaz s Drown is composed of ten short stories that follow the pattern of a quasi
chronological narration of the story of a Dominican family. Each story is a chapter presenting
different moments in the lives of the characters and the narrator, Yunior, who grows over the course
of the novel. The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao is similarly a Dominican family story centered
on a young but disoriented Dominican American man in search of love in a hostile world. My
intention with this examination of the two sociological and statistical studies about the Dominican
community in New

Modern Characteristics Of Helen Of Troy
Helen of Troy Humans have always been fixated on looks. Girls want to be the prettiest, have the
best hair, the best body, and the best clothes. Boys want to have the most muscles, lift the most,
be the strongest, and get all the girls. In most of Greek mythology, Helen of Troy is portrayed as
this beauty that no one could match. She is what every girl wanted to be and who every guy
wants to be with, but she also caused a war. Today, when we think of Helen of Troy or Greek
mythology in general, people might think of Disney s Hercules or Rick Riordan s Percy
Jackson. To this day, Helen of Troy is seen as an unobtainable standard of beauty. She is used as
a standard of beauty to sell hair tools, makeup, and spa tools. She is also used as a standard of
beauty to young girls, and she is used as a standard of beauty that will never age. Young girls who
are using classic characters for a standard of beauty will see and hear about her in the modern
adaptations and they will see someone who as this unattainable beauty that they cannot reach. Over
the years, what Helen has symbolized has changed. At the beginning, she was a beautiful woman,
who everyone wanted, but the fight for her was lost in them fighting each other. Today she is slut...

many and from such powerful families that her reputed father, King Tyndareus, her mother s

therefore exacted first a solemn oath from all that they would champion the cause of Helen s
husband, whoever he might be, if any wrong was done to him through his marriage. It was, after
all, to each man s advantage to take the oath, since each was hoping he would be the person to the
uttermost anyone who carried or tried to carry Helen away. (pg.

Neither of those faults plagues The Great Debaters. By highlighting themes of individual
achievement against a daunting backdrop, this film provides heroes who can be admired
irrespective of their race, even though skin color is a huge part of the story. More significantly,
it does not shy from showing the darkest aspects of human nature. A scene in The Great Debaters
is designed to shock and horrify, and it succeeds in doing so. But it is in no way exploitative; it is
necessary to the understanding of the characters and their motivations, and to coming to grips with
elements of the social fabric that are too often softened for mass consumption. The film makes it
evident that racism can be more ghastly than calling someone degrading names.Denzel
Washington His initial goals are modest: face off against other black colleges. But when the team
goes on an undefeated run that includes toppling one of the best black debating teams in the
country, he sets his sights higher and challenges National Champion Harvard. If Harvard agrees to
the contest, it will be the first time the debating team from a black college will face off against a
National Champion. The Great Debaters does an excellent job forming a bond between the
characters and the audience.

Implementing Nationwide Health Enrichment Goals And...
Initial Post: Access to healthcare
Paula Moran Lally Healthy People 2020 aims to establish nationwide health enrichment goals and
increase public knowledge regarding the indicators for health, disease and disabilities while
supporting opportunities for enhancement (Nies McEwen, 2015). One of the most crucial goals
Access to Health Care has been highlighted in lieu of the fact that in 2014 the United States health
care system needed to provide the 32 million uninsured Americans with needed health insurance for
the first time as a result of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) (Healthy People 2020, 2012). The ACA
has formulated a four part system build around Medicare, Medicaid, employer sponsored insurance
and the new state based insurances ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many key components in approaching access to health care: coverage, services,
timeliness and workforce (Healthy People 2020, 2015). Patients who have a positive and
consistent source of care will ultimately have better end results, minor discrepancies and fewer
costs (Healthy People 2020, 2015). Timeliness is the health system s capability to optimize
services in a convenient manner, whether it embraces the time spent either waiting in a doctor s
office or an emergency department. At the same time for many patients it encompasses the time
between analyzing the need for tests or treatment and obtaining those results. Working as an ER
nurse there has been incredible long waiting times in emergency rooms secondary to the fact that
people are using the ER for care and more notably as their primary care physician. Likewise
prolonged Emergency department wait times can decrease patient satisfaction and notably people
leave without been seen. Finally the different element of workforce is vital in contributing access
to health services. Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) play an important role in providing access to
health services and it has been noted that many medical students are leaning away from working in
primary care (Healthy People 2020, 2015). Our ultimate goal is to direct them towards that needed
profession. The Healthy People 2020 leading health

What Are Worse Than Other Sports Injuries
Some sports injuries, are worse than others Are athletes protected enough in sports? Even though in
some sports, athletes wear pads for protection. Some sports require more pads than others do. Not
all athletes feel safe in their own sport. Some athletes are more prone to injury in other sports. The
injuriesplayers face in football are awful. It s a high risk sport. Players of the sport retire so early
from the NFL because of the massive hits. It really takes a toll to their body. Some players retire
by thirty years old for reasons like injuries. ACL/MCL tears are the most common injurythat is

I play for Memorial so I can say, it is a risky sport. I love it, and there are lots injuries that can
happen though. Hits, blocking shots, constantly being hit by sticks; all of these can cause some
form of injury. Players face lots of bruises, but some of these can cause a more serious, long term
injury such as knee, elbow and hand injuries. Basketball can be high risk. I ve seen some very
graphic injuries from watching a basketball game. All sports have some sort of injury possibility,
but this oe would definitely be on the bottom of the rest. Main injuries are ankle sprains, jammed
fingers, or some of the possible more severe injuries include knee injuries. My experience with
injuries aren t a whole lot, because I would like to say I don t put myself into situation to get hurt
a whole lot. I have faced a lot of bruises in lacrosse and they hurt, but they eventually go away. I
have been in a lot of pain after a few slashes to my hand, I came out right away because of the
pain. I hung in there and finished and it eventually went away. I ve never broken a bone, and I

Self-Presentation In Tamburlaine
When language serves as a tool for characterization, two fundamental distinctions must be
established: whether the verbal forms of self presentation remain implicit or explicit and whether
the implicit form of self presentation is voluntary or involuntary. Explicit self presentation occurs
when a figure consciously outlines its picture of itself and this may happen in the context of either
monologueor dialogue. The information received from the character in this way is not objective or
trustful and should be evaluated as elements of a subjectively coloured form of self presentation. In
examples of explicit self presentation within a dialogue, there is a deceiving factor embodied in the
strategic intentions of the speaker who frequently... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

So much by much, as dooth Zenocrate
What is beauty, saith my sufferings then? (pp.55 6)
The praise on Zenocrate shows close affinities with Elizabethan poetic conventions in its structure,
in the repetition of the metrically regular lines in which Zenocrate s name is introduced, and in its
imagery. It is a highly lyrical description it opens with references to nature s participation in
Tamburlaine s feelings, watery cheeks, aire, earth and goes on to speak of Zenocrate s imminent
death. It ends with five parallel visions which show the loving sympathy and grief of the angels, of
the heavenly bodies, of nature, and of God.

where he has won a wife, Hippolyta, and a sister in law, Emily. Along the way, he runs into a

Jimmy Carter Literature Review
Jimmy Carter was a very avid Christian before, during and after his time in office. He is
commonly acknowledged of being one of the most religious presidents in history. The purpose
of this literature review is to give an overview of how academia interprets Carter s religiosity.
Berggren and Rae (2006) describe Carter as an Evangelical style president with a strong
devotion to his corresponding Evangelical Faith. He is referred to being the born again
president. Carter had a born again experience during his pre presidential life which supports he
was evangelist during this part of his life. In this experience, he questioned his faith after a failed
attempt to become governor. It wasn t until his sister, a devout evangelist, spoke to and
convinced him that he had not fully dedicated himself to God, that he had a born again
realization and devoted himself to Christ. Carter s Evangelical Faith is further supported by him
referencing himself as born again and saying, I believe God wants me to be the best politician I
can be (Lindsay, 2007). Lindsay s article also reasons that at the beginning of his presidency
Carter had a high rate of evangelical approval because these people could easily connect with like
minded president. Carter s evangelism religiosity is demonstrated by these two sources before and
during his early administration but gives no insight into how might have changed during and after
his presidency. Preston (2012, 575) expands on Carter s evangelical

Since evenness species respond more rapidly to human activity than the richness species and

Why Is Standard Oil Unethical
A monopoly is the exclusive possession or control of the supply or trade in a commodity or service.
Durning its time, Standard Oil gained almost complete control of oil refining and marketing in the
United States through a process called horizontal integration. Horizontal integration is a strategy
where a company creates or acquires production units for outputs which are alike. In the kerosene
industry, Standard Oilused it s own vertical system. It supplied kerosene to local markets by tank
cars and tank wagons then delivered to retail customers (McGuire and Wheeler). The end result was
that the quality and availability of kerosene products were improved and the cost to the public was
reduced, but it created intense controversy about the business... Show more content on

In 1882, Rockefeller s lawyers created a corporation to centralize their holdings called the
Standard Oil Trust. The Standard Oil Trust was the corporation of corporations, and its size and
wealth gained many peoples attention. Nine trustees, including Rockefeller, ran the 41
companies in the trust. The public and the press were immediately very suspicious of Standard
Oil and its many companies, but other businesses seized upon the idea, which further infuriated
the public. Standard Oil had a reputation and seemed invincible, it always prevailed against
competitors, critics, and even political enemies. It had become the biggest, richest, most feared
business in the world, seemingly immune to the boom and bust of the business cycle that
tortured every other business. In spite of the trust and its perceived immunity from all
competition, by the 1880s Standard Oil had passed its peak of power over the oil market

Perverse Portraits Of Phallic Power In Flannery OConnor
Because Enoch is such a physically driven character, he often highlights the novel s theme and
irony with just his actions, but there are many instances where characters exemplify irony and
theme with only their thoughts and beliefs. Hazel pursues Sabbath Lily Hawkes thinking that
she is an innocent young woman he can corrupt but finds that she is actually very experienced
and looking to seduce him. This sets about events such as Hazel destroying the mummy Enoch
gives him and forcing Sabbath to leave (O Connor 189). Hazel initially decides to pursue her to get
closer to Asa Hawkes, but that proves to be no help. Hazel, as an example of irony, is later seduced
by Sabbath as she calls him the king of the beasts (O Connor 106). This reveals her to not be the
pure soul Hazel had assumed and after sleeping with her, he feels troubled (O Connor 170). White
Trash, Low Class, and No Class at All: Perverse Portraits of Phallic Power in Flannery O Connor s
Wise Blood, states that Sabbath, as well as the audience, knew that Sabbath was looking to seduce
Hazel because he wanted nothing but Jesus, but when Sabbath tells Hazel this, he forces her out
of his car and out of his life (Paige 332). This represents the novel s theme because sleeping with
Sabbath after her seducing him forced Hazel to look at his reasoning, which is what drove him to
self mutilation and suicide.
Hazel s incorrect beliefs stretch beyond his thoughts of Sabbath, and he even proves himself to be a

The Learning Management System ( Lms ) For Teaching And...
There were three sources of data explored in this study. One was the interviews of 24 subjects who
had been teachers of District X since the learning management system, the HUB, had been
introduced. The second form of data used was artifact data from analytics reports from the HUB,
and course information used by teachers for instruction, when necessary. The third form was field
notes taken by the researcher, used to paint a more complete picture of each participant as an
individual case and to gain more insight as to their attitudes and motivations for their innovation
adoptiondecisions. The information sought was in response to the following research questions
(RQs):
RQ1. Of the teachers who have adopted the learning management system (LMS) for teaching and
learning, what is different about those who adopt more quickly than others? (Interview questions #1
2)
RQ2. How has the learning management system been incorporated into teaching and learning in
the classroom? What were the early successes or failures that may have influenced the choice to
adopt? (Interview questions #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7)
RQ3. What have been current steps toward communication, collaboration and instructional use of
the LMS implementation and adoption phase? What feedback loops exist in order for leadership
and end users to stay informed and work to remove barriers to implementation? (Interview question
#6)
RQ4. What other characteristics of this implementation have been unique, or have

Analysis Of Social Service Work Values
One of the social service work values required in this situation includes, service to humanity
(Ramsarran, 2015, p. 3). Referencing the text on the values and ethnics of social service work
provided during first semester, service to humanity focuses on upholding service in the interest
of others consistent with social justice (Ramsarran, 2015, p. 3). It explores balancing one s own

Background Of International Investment Protection
I.Background to International Investment Protection During industrialisation, Western European
Countries and United States, which has huge capital surplus, started investing massively in less
developed countries in the form of Foreign Direct Investment. There was obviously an imbalance of
power between the investing countries and the host countries at that time. The investing countries
expected that their investment and property be protected and in case they suffered any injury or
incurred any loss, the host country has to compensate else the former had all the power to make
their life uncomfortable. The investors could even seek help from their government to obtain the
desired remedy for damage caused to their investment. This... Show more content on

The doctrine was adopted mainly by Latin American countries and was also incorporated in the
Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and navigation. However resolving international commercial
disputes via litigation by national courts entailed many complications. For instance host state may
come up with legislations or policies which may affect the business and prevent the investor from
getting any remedy for damages suffered; the country may not have strong and update laws to
protect the investments. Also the adversarial nature of the litigation may not help to maintain good
business relationship. As such arbitration which is consensual, flexible, informal, binding and
enforceable can be considered as a better form of dispute resolution. The Convention on Peaceful
Resolution of International Dispute signed in 1907 provided for conclusion of Bilateral Arbitration
Treaties however there was no direct cause of action by the foreign national which had suffered
damages. In 1965 there was a major reform by the creation of ICSID mechanism after the
conclusion of Washington Convention. As a result many states entered into Bilateral Investment
Treaties BITS to promote and protect investment. As per the treaties disputes were submitted to
International arbitration which were completely delocalised and Investors could seek remedy

How Did Architecture Influence Roman Architecture
Roman architects did not invent the Arch nor for that matter concrete, but they did however refine
and apply these key architectural techniques and materials to sublime effect we will explore the
impact the use of these two elements had on the development of Roman architecture, how they
affected everyday life in Romeand the results of their use. .
Some of the earliest evidence of the application of the arch date back to the second millennium
BCE, the Romans adopted it from other cultures and were drawn to a number of key attributes of
this shape. A popular parlour trick for illusionists is to place a crate of eggs between two solid
surfaces and place a large weight on top of it, sometimes an adult. Counter intuitively the eggs do

The resultant aggregate was very strong and durable as the numerous examples of structures
constructed using it that exist even into the present age attests. The importance of the use of concrete
by the Romans cannot be understated. Concrete allowed Roman engineers to create great
commercial structures that would not otherwise have been possible for example the port of
Caesarea which employed under water concrete technology on a large scale. In addition to the
system of aqueducts, concrete technology allowed Roman engineers to create networks of dams,
canals and cisterns that played a vital role in irrigation and feeding Rome s populace. Rome also
constructed a number of military installations including walls and strategic garrisons which helped
to defend her citizens. The construction of strategic bridges also helped logistically in moving
Roman forces across her empire which allowed her to maintain a military dominance that lasted for
centuries. Roman concrete also allowed for the creation of grand temples, baths and public
buildings that helped maintain social cohesion, supported the political system and influenced the
Roman psyche engendering a pride and confidence which no doubt played a vital role in
developing the Roman

The Thematic Intentions of
Sunset Boulevard
The film Sunset Boulevard directed by Billy Wilder and staring the main characters of Norma
Desmond, Joe Gillis, and Max Von Mayerling is ideal example of how important film making
techniques help depict a movie s core theme intentions with vivid clarity. Classic Hollywood is the
first thing that comes to mind when one speaks about this film s style. This signature category
combined with the visual style of realism and it s continuity editing; detailed mise en scene and all
of its characteristics; and lastly the use of reoccurring motifs with formalistic qualities make the

He says, ...poor sucker, he always wanted a pool. This here is our first look at one of the motifs
involving the idea of a dream. Throughout the movie that motif is seen in several different ways,
this is just one of them. In almost all of the depictions this dream is some how linked with being
shattered or simply not being what it s thought to be all. The jest of it is the fact that it does draw
a parallel to extreme negativity and it also begins to show specifically how Wilder uses formality
in parts of his direction.
For this establishing scene the realism is viewed simply through the continuity editing that I have
already touched on in some detail about the actual shots, angles, and camera movements involved
here. This invisible style that is seen in so many Classic Hollywood films makes it seem like what
is shown definitely could happen in real life. The only thing here that might not go hand in hand
with that is the fact that this type of depiction was definitely not what the industry and the audience
in their own reality was used to. Therefore, the superior thing about this fact is that because we
know that it was not normal for its time, it takes that central theme of industry decryption and
makes it even more poignant by itself and especially to the people that first saw this

The Age Of Enlightenment
The Age of Enlightenment was a movement of the 18th century that introduced ideas that strayed
from the traditional ideas of the church. In fact, some philosophers rejected Christianity, arguing
that it drew focus away from creating a better life on earth and instead promised people a false
after world. Such ideas were exemplified by philosophers such as Friedrich Schiller, who argued
that thought and reason were superior to one s senses or feelings. Likewise, many intellectual
groups valued the individual conscience and ability to reason over religious inspiration. While
religion was being challenged in Europe, across the Atlantic, the American Revolution rejected the
monarch and created way for a representative government. These ideas are prevalent in and
developed in the writings of Jeremy Bentham. Born in 1748, Bentham was an English philosophe
who pushed heavily for social reform. In 1798, he helped form the Thames River Police to prevent
theft on the Thames River, and in 1823, he co founded a liberal publication titled the Westminster
Review. Bentham held particularly progressive and even radical ideas that were generally not

Stereotypes Of Stock Characters In Film And Modern Family
A stock character is a fictional character in literature, film, theatre or television that is based on a
stereotype that is familiar to many people. Stock characters rely heavily on cultural types, manner
of speech, and other characteristics. They are an important component of any play or story
because it provides relationships and interactions that people will recognize immediately. People
can summarize the characters role in the story in a sentence or less and people will know exactly
what you are talking about. They vary from widely known cultural types and mannerisms, and
every culture has its own set of stock characters. An example of a stock characteris a Jewish Mother.

The audience can be very entertained by The Soldier in Roman comedy because he is not bright
and easily misled by flattery, which makes his character pretty hilarious to watch. He is always
chasing after women, even if they are married, he thinks he is extremely handsome, and believes
that all of the women are in love with him. This character is very amusing to watch because he is
so airheaded that he could never actually be a real and respected soldier in an army.
The Slave in Roman comedy also plays a very large part in the humor aspect of the show. He
may not seem like a stock character in this present style of sitcoms, but back then the slave was a
very popular character. He is very smart, clever, always up to some scheme, and he is always
plotting to be made free. I find this very ironic because the slave should be the character who is
dumb and stupid but instead, he portrays himself as the one with the higher status rather than lower
status because he knows that he is smarter than the soldier and he always succeeds when he tricks
the Soldier into doing

The Radioactive Iodine Uptake Of The Thyroid Gland
The radioactive iodine uptake is the measure of the amount of iodine avidity of the thyroid gland
(Cooper, 2003).Physician use RAI to find the functional condition of the thyroid nodules
(Panneerselvan et al., 2013).RAIU is measured at different time intervals mostly 24 hour after the
administration of the isotope, the RAIU is inversely proportional to the concentration of iodine in
the plasma and directly proportional to the thyroidfunctional state (Little, 2006).

The Respect of Soldier s Rank
In the U.S. Military services, rank determines who gets to tell whom what to do. The higher one s
rank the more authority (and responsibility) they have. U.S. Military personnel fall into one of three
categories: (1) enlisted members, (2) warrant officers, and (3) commissioned officers. Warrant
officers outrank all enlisted members, and commissioned officers outrank all warrant officers and
enlisted members.
Rank and pay grade are closely associated terms, but not quite the same. Pay grade is an
administrative classification, associated with a member s pay. Rank is a title and denotes the

petty officers trace their insignia heritage to the British. Petty officers were assistants to the
officers aboard ship. The title wasn t a permanent rank and the men served at the captain s
pleasure. Petty officers lost their rank when the crew was paid off at the end of a voyage. In
1841, Navy petty officers received their first rank insignia an eagle perched on an anchor. Ratings
job skills were incorporated into the insignia in 1866. In 1885, the Navy designated three classes
of petty officers first, second and third. They added chevrons to designate the new ranks. The rank
of chief petty officer was established in 1894.During World War II, the Army adopted technician
grades. Technicians of a given grade earned the same pay and wore the same insignia as equivalent
noncommissioned officers except for a small T centered under the chevrons. Technicians, despite
the stripes, had no command authority over troops. This evolved into the specialist ranks, pay
grades E 4 to E 7.

The Module Brands And Branding Essay
1. Introduction
In this report for the first assessment of the module Brands and Branding I will critically discuss
the growing importance and meaning of brands in contemporary consumer culture. Brands are
omnipresent in todays life. Everywhere you look around you can see different brands. Our life
with brands already starts early in the morning when we get up out from our bed, which was made
by a company with his own brand. We go to the bathroom to brush our teeth with a toothpaste e. g.
from „Colgate . Thats the way we go though the day. We write messages via „Whatsapp from
a smartphone often from a big company like Apple or Samsung. Apple for an example is a brand
which produces a smartphones, tablets, laptops or watches. But the names of these products are
also brands. When I am thinking about the first smartphone my first thought rises the „iPhone
and „Steve Jobs . A Person and an advanced mobile phone, but also they both are brands for
themselves. So you can see we are so „manipulatet by big brands that I had no chance to think
about any other brand which also produce well designed smartphones with a high usability.
They are not only lifestyle gadges which grew importance of brands. We can take a look at the
brand Rolex for example. Rolex has his origin in Germany before the watchmaker has founded
Rolex as a company in Switzerland in 1908. This company has a very long tradition an his

Ancient Sumer s History
Sumer s history began long before humans invented writing to record historical events. Much of
what we know of pre historic Sumer was found in archeological ruins, which told of a people who
gradually switched from a hunting and gathering society to a settled, agriculture based culture. As
agriculture could produce a surplus of food, people found they could devote their time to other
work besides that in the fields. A surplus of food could also sustain a larger population, which
congregated at first in small villages. As time went on, many small villages became the first cities,
one of them being Eridu, according to the Mesopotamians themselves. Scholars, however, consider

came the first villages and the beginning of towns. By 3500 B.C. the Sumerian city states began
forming, all centered around temples to the gods. By this time, Sumerian people had invented
writing, the wheel, irrigation and water control and sailboats. One of the names for Mesopotamia is
the cradle of civilization, as the land between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers was the birthplace of
civilization as we know it.
Sumer s city states were first ruled by priest kings known as Ensi. As society grew more complex,
however, and city states began battling over land and water rights, a secular kingship began, with
the rule of a city state in the hands of Lugal, or strong man. The Lugal supervised wars and
oversaw important trade with other lands. Trade brought in goods such as metal ores that were
unobtainable in Sumer itself. It was probably the necessity of record keeping in long distance trade
that spurred the development of cuneiform writing.
While the archeological record reveals the life of common Sumerians, the Sumerian King List
provides some detail of Sumer s kings. The King List, a cuneiform document that lists and briefly
describes all the kings of the region beginning with Etana of Kish, who ruled c. 3100 B.C. A scribe

homogeneous to the four line stanzas of other poetry encountered throughout this semester. Gray
utilizes a homogeneous theme of time in his poem, likewise in Shakespeare s sonnets and Donne

structure is the first thing to descry while comparing Gray s Elegy to other poems. Gray indites in

Shakespeare seems absorbed in physical resplendency when reading Sonnet Nineteen. His aperture
line, Devouring time... time is eating up all of earth s creatures. All of the resplendency is eaten
up by time. Gray utilizes the theme of time by imaging what the mundane man of this country
churchyard did during their life. Instead of being upset about time passing, glomming
resplendency within the world, and not capitalizing on the time given to us, Gray is
appreciating the time the deceased has had. For them no more the blazing hearth shall burn, / or
diligent housewife ply her evening care: / no children run to lisp their sire s return, / or climb
his knees the envied kiss to apportion. Here, Gray is reminiscing the times a certain man might
return home and appreciating the affection of his family. Other poets might visually perceive
time as an exasperation; Gray optically discerns it as a treasure to be cherished. When
comparing Gray s Elegy to John Milton s Lyciads , we discover a drastic difference. Both men
indited in replication to a death of their friend. Gray s poem reflected mental conceptions of the
past lives of the mundane people found within the country churchyard. He is asking us to
accolade the lives of the people he has discovered in this graveyard. Gray develops relationships
between these dead and nature. In stanza seven, Oft did the harvest to their sickle yield, / Their

The concern of the regulator will be to determine if the merger could raise or reduce the welfare of
consumers. That is if the reduction in cost measured by the lower average cost would be sufficiently
large relative to the rise in price, then the merger would improve welfare of consumers as cost
saved will be greater than deadweight loss. But if the rise in price after the merger is sufficiently
large relative to the reduction in average cost then the merger lowers welfare (deadweight

collapse, suffer losses, and even close down when rival firms introduce cutting edge innovations.
This is the result of creative destruction: new products and production methods replace or rather

the new products make their lives easier and economic evidence shows that old firms should learn

produced is vital. Firms want to minimize the cost of making an output. Thus, Blockbuster used
efficient ways to produce its movies and games by outsourcing and reduced staffing (WordPress).
However, a major expense for Blockbuster was rent for the location of its stores and wages for its
employees, which Netflix did not have to worry about because it was an online service. Therefore,

Masks And Figures In Picasso s Guernica By Pablo Picasso
In the painting Guernica by Pablo Picasso, the artist uses abstract shapes and figures to represent
the horrors of war. The work is a large mural painted in oils and the colors used are variations of
black and white. By using these dark somber colors instead of bright vibrant colors, Picasso
shows that Guernica is not a painting that is supposed to be visually pleasing but instead is
supposed to present a message. Certain shades of grey in the painting look like that of an old
printed newspaper and almost make the work seem like it is a picture you might see on the front
page. Picasso uses shape quite a bit and the painting seems to be centered on a triangular shape
that draws the eye upwards and to the center to the eyeball. This eyeball, with an iris made out of
a lightbulb, looks to be casting a light down upon all of the carnage. The jumble of human limbs,
geometric shapes, and animal heads are given emphasis because they appear to rest atop a solid
black background. There are quite a few figures in this piece and the overall movement in it is
chaotic. Certain figures are given emphasis because of their size, such as the woman holding the
candlestick, the bull s head, and the crying woman holding her child.
Guernica was named after a village in Picasso s home country that was bombed for two days
straight during the Spanish Civil War. This painting was his response to the tragedy. It was largely
overlooked when it was first unveiled because of the abstract nature of its composition but is now
seen as famous representation of the devastating effects of war on innocent people.
Francisco Goya s The Disasters of War, No. 18: Bury Them and Say Nothing is an etching with
aquatint. It is also in black and white and features another gruesome image of war. It is smaller
in scale than Guernica, but it s realistic depiction of a pile of dead bodies lying on the ground
make it a powerful image. The dark black ink used to cover the ground beneath them emphasizes
the bodies and draws the viewers eye to them. Standing just above the bodies to the right are two
figures that appear to be mourning the dead lying before them. The upper half of the etching that
represents the sky is completely empty, drawing the eye to two

Similarities Between The Yellow Wallpaper And The Sandman
Common Sense in Fantastic Stories: Two Aspects of Rational Thinking Stories like Charlotte
Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper and E. T. A. Hoffmann s The Sandman are examples of
the central character being the one experiencing the supernatural events. At the same time,
another seemingly rational character was created as a contrast to the central character, these are
the characters that the readers are more identified with. They are observers, give rational
explanations to unnatural experiences of the central characters, like John from The Yellow
Wallpaper and Clara from The Sandman ; just like us readers, due to natural instinct, our first
reaction is also trying to find reasons for things. Characters with common sense are identifiable to
the readers: as we are rational, love analyzing every element in the story and trying to explain
everything in a scientific way; at the same time, narrow minded and lack of imagination just like
these characters. John in The Yellow Wallpaper is not a very likable character to the readers,
mainly because his characteristic is depicted through the narrator s point of view. In her mind, he
cannot see things she s seeing, and her opinions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the readers, while reading a fantastic story, would love to find clues and analysis the behavior
of the character in order to find a rational explanation when the story itself doesn t provide us
with a concrete answer to supernatural elements within it. At the same time, being narrow
minded and denying supernatural forces is perfectly normal for us readers, living in a world
without concrete proof that they truly exist. The reason why fantastic tales exist is to bring a
whole new point of view to our ordinary lives. There may be things appeared beyond our
knowledge, some people prefer to be agnostic towards the formation of the world, and religion is

Research Paper On Anna Pavlova
How did a seven year old girl go from being a ballet enthusiast to one of the greatest ballerinas of
all time whose influences are still so evidently felt today? Anna Pavlova is a famous Russian
ballerina who is best known for introducing and popularizing ballet around the world, defying the
traditional expectations of ballerinas and her contribution to the modern pointe shoe. Her love for
classical ballet, determination, perseverance, and elegance stole the hearts of people around the
world.
At the age of eight Anna Pavlova, born in St. Petersburg, Russia, on 31 January 1881, was
amazed by the performance of The Sleeping Beauty at the Mariinsky Theater and was thereafter
determined on becoming a professional ballerina. Despite not having the ideal, strong, muscular
and compact figure of a ballerina at the time, Pavlova was accepted into the Imperial Ballet School
in 1891. Pavlova attracted the attention from her teachers and at the annual graduation
performance in 1899, it was announced that Pavlova, after graduating, would join the Imperial
Ballet at the Mariinsky Theatre. Pavlova, with her grace, talent and work ethic, rose through the
ranks quickly, she was named coryphГ©e in 1902, premiГЁre danseuse in 1905, and finally, after
her extraordinary performance in Giselle, she was promoted to prima ballerina in 1906.
With her strong stage presence, Pavlova stole the hearts of many across the world, who called
themselves the Pavlovitzi. One such person was Michel Fokine,

The Importance Of Baseball In The United States
According to Forbes.com, the MLB brought in around nine billion dollars last year. It has become
evident that these numbers aren t new for the league. This revenue amongst other things has made
the United States into what appears to be the zenith of baseball; but Japan s national baseball
league, the Nippon BaseballLeague is alive and well. According to WorldBaseballClassic.com,
Japan s national team is ranked as the third best baseball team in the world, trailing only the
powerhouses of the United States and Cuba. The team made the semi finals in the last World
Baseball Classic. Even as many people see baseball as only truly catching on in the United States,

The league has been highly successful and is gaining steam. The MLB plays a yearly series

Rhetorical Analysis Of Charlot s Speech
The high taxes and cost of living make it very difficult for middle class Americans to get by and
the government continues to take, and take, and take leaving some families with nothing,
creating hostile feelings such as frustration and anger among citizens. During American history,
there has always been some form of greed from the government, so much at times causing many
wars and destruction. Slemhakkah, known as Charlot, who was the Chief of the Kalispel band
of Flathead Indians, felt the same frustration and anger toward the government in 1876, when
the federal government required that Montana Indians residing on reservations pay taxes.
Charlot was angry with the white people s way, the greed, as well as the unfair and unjust
destruction that the white man brought upon the land. He expressed his views in a powerful
speech titled, He has filled graves with our bones, that was published on the Western Frontier.
Charlot speaks to his people, with a tone of anger and worry. The stance that he took to inform
his people and express the worries he had, is very powerful, and justifiable. He was a leader,
respected among his people, stayed true as his word and had a sincerity within ethos, pathos,
logos appeals, throughout his speech. At the very beginning of Charlot s speech, he starts with a
presence of ethos, Yes, my people, the white man wants us to pay him. He comes in his intent and
says we must pay him pay him for our own for the things we have from our God and our

The Causes Of Carbon Dioxide And Planeting Earth s...
Carbon Dioxide emissions are destroying earth s environment, minute by minute. Humans play a
big part in the addition to the carbon in the air. Every car on the road produces carbon dioxide into
the air, as well as the factories worked in, also release carbon dioxide. However, nature also
contributes to the increase of carbon dioxide. Wildfires are an attribute to greenhouse gas in the air
that is almost uncontrollable by humans. When acres of land is burned, the smoke releases
carbon dioxide into the air. Carbon Dioxide takes over the oxygen levels that humans need in
order to live and breath. Carbon Dioxide is a gas that is absorbed from the air through plants
during the process of photosynthesis. Trees are important in the regulation of greenhouse gas in
the atmosphere. A newspaper article, The New York Times, states, Wildfires also release carbon
dioxide, one of the main drivers of climate change, and reduce the number of trees available to
absorb carbon dioxide, a double whammy for the atmosphere (Schlossberg). Trees and forests
help maintain the level of this gas, by releasing oxygen and absorbing carbon dioxide.
Unfortunately, wildfires interrupt the receiving of carbon dioxide. When a forest catches on fire,
the substance that absorbs the greenhouse gases are burned down. Not only are the wildfires
releasing millions of metric tons of carbon dioxide, there is no longer a product to take in the toxic
gas. Therefore, more greenhouse gases are released than absorbed,

Analysis of The House of Spirits by Isabel Allende Essay
After being accused of being possessed by the devil and visited by her Uncle Marco s dead body,
Clare del Valle began to keep a diary. Fifty years later, her journal was used to solve the puzzle of a
family history. In The House of Spirits, Isabel Allende tells the story of many generations of a
family in Latin America. There are three prominent themes in The House of Spirits by Isabel
Allende. First, the social divide between those who are civilized and those who are supposed
barbarians. Second, the influence of women and their role in society. Third, the clash between
social classes.
The first major theme in The House of Spirits is the division between civilization and savagery. The
country in which the story takes place remains ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every woman in The House of Spirits is a protagonist, who each work in different ways to protect
their rights. Alba, Clara, and Blanca remain the focus of the story, while the men enter through
means of love and marriage. The major events that dominate the story are experiences central to
these women, including childbirth, sexual and physical violence, and abortion. Besides Nivea s
devotion to female suffrage, the women rarely condemn gender inequality for their struggles. Each
woman s life is, however, scarred by this. The women in The House of the Spirits are strong women
who do not submit to mistreatment. The women affect more permanent and extreme changes than
any of the men implement. For example, the men lead revolutions that temporarily collapsed the
government, and soon after those revolutions failed. The women have more exquisite methods. By
teaching people to read and to write and to practice health care, by setting curses, and by refusing
to speak aloud increases productivity in implementing long lasting change in society. For example,
when Clara s husband, Esteban, abuses her, she stops speaking to him. She then restores her
maiden name, and moves out of Tres MarГas and back to the city, with her daughter Blanca.
However, she preserves a civil relationship with him until her demise. Acting out violently against
Esteban may have been effective temporarily, but not speaking to him enforced a permanent change

How to Drive Manual Car Essay
Outline
Manual Transmission Cars
Purpose To explain to the class about manual transmission cars and how to drive one.
Central Idea Driving a manual transmission car is very different from driving an automatic
transmission car
I. Introduction
Today about 6 million people drive a car in the United States, but the percentage of those people that
drive a manual transmission is significantly less than those who drive automatic. In every country
in Europe, and perhaps in the world, manual cars are a common sight. However, here in the
U.S.A. finding a manual car and someone who knows how to drive one is like looking for a needle

Cars often have 4 gears and a reverse gear.
Transition: Ok so lets pretend we got into a manual car, we adjusted our mirrors, we put on our
seatbelts and now we re ready to go somewhere.
C. To get moving onto the road there are some things that we have to do. a. First off, we have to
release the Emergency Break.
i. Failure to do so might result in damage to the transmission and engine.
b. Next we have to step on the clutch pedal and shift the car to first gear.
c. Then we have to slowly release the clutch and start pressing on the gas pedal.
Transition: Next thing you know you re moving, but your car is starting to roar, time to change gear.
D. Changing gear from 1st to 2nd is much easier than the initial start. a. First, you step on the
clutch pedal. b. Next, you chose your gear. c. Then, you have to press on the gas lightly while
releasing the clutch
i. Note that this has to be done quickly, but not too quickly otherwise the car will give kickback
Transition: Sounds easy right? It took me about a month to fully understand it.
III. Conclusion
From what I ve been through if you ever want to learn to drive stick shift I highly recommend you
go to a driving school that teaches manual because they wont yell at you or call you names. Also,
it can be discouraging and depressing at first because you will stall a lot, that s when the

Samuel Clemens High School was established during the 1890 s, but it wasn t always as nice, big,

The Rose For Emily Comparison
The GreenLeaf, by Flannery O Connor, and The Rose for Emily, written by William Faulkner, are
different in many ways but also similar. The books both have similar literary devices being used,
the era the books were staged in, and how the authors portrayed southern ideals .
Flannery used smiles, such as when O Connor wrote, ..hand would dangle from her wrist like the
head of a broken lily. , where she compared the hand of Mrs.May and a broken lily s head. O
Connor also shown symbolism by the bull stabbing Mrs.GreenLeaf in the heart with it s horn,
while earlier in the story she stated Oh Jesus, stab me in the heart! , this shows Jesus stabbing
her as she said in her demand and symbolizes the crucifixion of Jesus. In the beginning of the
story, O Connor displays symbolism by comparing the bull to Christ. So once again Flannery O
Connor is bringing religion into play. O Connor is well known for utilizing being raised Catholic
in the South in her books. Miss O Connor puts a piece of herself in all her short stories. Mrs.
May shares this Christian aspect that Flannery establishes in all her stories. She conveys this by
always stating how she is a lady of God, even though the statements that she makes do not manifest
that. Mrs.May claims this on multiple occasions as if she is trying to convince herself how
christianly she is. The Rose for Emily also contains multiple literary devices; such as, symbolism,
the aged house Emily lives in shows her isolation, she does not leave that much, because she is
hiding a terrible secret in the upstairs room. Emily only wanted a home, she could call her own
and grow old with someone she loved in, which she thought was Home Barron but tragically he
died and stored his body in the upstairs room, this is the reason why her house was smelling so
horrible. The townspeople had to sprinkle lime on her lawn to terminate the smell. The reader is
to think that she killed him because she loved him and wanted the control that she never had,
because her father abused her and he was all she had before he died, so she wanted to always have
Barron.

The Age of Enlightenment is one of the turning points in the human history, which affected the

Essay thomas eakins Thomas Eakins nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Thomas Eakins was born on July 25, 1844, in Philadelphia, and with the exception of four years of study in Paris and Spain, the city remained his home. Its school, public and private art collections, and community of artists, many of whom were recent emigrants from Europe trained in the academic tradition and familiar with new artistic styles, provided Eakins with an unusually wide ranging art education for an American artist of his day. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; When Eakins arrived in Paris in 1866 to continue his art studies, he was in the vanguard of young artists who would revolutionize American art over the next two decades, breaking away from the literalism of Hudson River School... He had used photographs from the other sources as aids for his painting in the 1870 s, but the acquisition of his own camera inspired a period of intensive investigation of photography as a tool for making art. Eakins made scores of photographs as studies for a group of major paintings, among them Mending the Net, Swimming, and Cowboys in the Bad Lands. He also told students in his academy to take pictures to help them. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Following Eakins dismissal, thirty eight of his male students resigned from the Academy and formed the Art Students League of Philadelphia, providing him with a new forum for his life classes. He submitted The Agnew Clinic to the Pennsylvania Academy s annual exhibition of 1891, but the work was rejected on a technicality. • 4. How Does Duckweed Grow Duckweed (lemnaceae) is a plant the reproduces by duplicating itself. It s remarkable because it can survive in extreme environments with temperate climates with the exception of frozen poles and dry deserts, explains naturina.per.sg. It is a prime example of exponential growth because as naturina.per.sg reports it can double in as a few as 2 days. This is possible because under ideal conditions it has all the nutrients to spark growth. NPK Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium are nutrients essential to the growth of plants. Duckweed holds the remarkable ability to clean a variety of levels of polluted water. People are debating on if airbags are one of those flaws. People may believe that they don t stop people from getting hurt. This is incorrect because of Newton s first law. To start, Newton s first law is about motion and inertia. According to our textbook, when a car crashes, the momentum will be 0. The shorter the time, the greater the force will be. With airbags, the momentum is slowed down in a shorter amount of time, which leads to a smaller force (Video). Officially titled the Republic of Nicaragua , there have been multiple stories of how the country got its name, the most prominent story says that during the time the Spanish invaded, Nicaragua took its name from an indigenous chief named Nicarao who was ruler of the region. Fast forwarding the history: Three hundred years of Spanish colonialism, a hundred years of totalitarian ruling by multiple presidents , and thirty years of Somoza family dictatorship, Nicaraguaunderwent the Sandinista revolution in 1979 to create a socialist society. Despite socialism having a track record of failure, there was great advancements in literacy and overall education, as well as improvement the nations GDP. However, the 1980 s were engrossed in destructive guerilla wars and political blunder sending the nation into a downward spiral. Political History Though titled as a democratic nation, the early years of Nicaragua s political ruling was taken by tyrannical rule, namely the Somoza family who publicly used violence to silence opposition or potential opponents. The end of their rule resulted in the creation of a constitution that ensured political rights to the people while suppressing the power of those in power as well as setting a limit on how long one could stay in office. Many Jews died in these camps because they were never fed. It was horrible to live in them that s why people went into hiding. • 8. Summary Of Junot Diaz s Drown LANGUAGE AND RACE IN JUNOT DIAZ S LITERATURE Between 1960 and 1986, more than 400,000 Dominicans migrated legally from the Dominican Republic to the United States, especially to New York and New Jersey, and many thousands more, illegally. By the 90 МЃs they had become the second largest Hispanic group in the Northeast this has generated important consequences for the Dominicans migrating to the US, for their families in the Dominican Republic and for Americans in general. Today, with the Hispanic community being the largest minority in the U.S. and with projections of growth at a fast rate, the Dominican diaspora is another example of the integration of a Hispanic subgroup into American life and society. I would like to focus on a specific aspect of this event, namely the self consciousness of racial identity in this community of migrants. To do so, I will use the literature of Junot Diaz. ...Diaz s Drown is composed of ten short stories that follow the pattern of a quasi chronological narration of the story of a Dominican family. Each story is a chapter presenting different moments in the lives of the characters and the narrator, Yunior, who grows over the course of the novel. The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao is similarly a Dominican family story centered on a young but disoriented Dominican American man in search of love in a hostile world. • 10. Modern Characteristics Of Helen Of Troy Helen of Troy Humans have always been fixated on looks. Girls want to be the prettiest, have the best hair, the best body, and the best clothes. Boys want to have the most muscles, lift the most, be the strongest, and get all the girls. In most of Greek mythology, Helen of Troy is portrayed as this beauty that no one could match. She is what every girl wanted to be and who every guy wants to be with, but she also caused a war. Today, when we think of Helen of Troy or Greek mythology in general, people might think of Disney s Hercules or Rick Riordan s Percy Jackson. To this day, Helen of Troy is seen as an unobtainable standard of beauty. She is used as a standard of beauty to sell hair tools, makeup, and spa tools. She is also used as a standard of beauty to young girls, and she is used as a standard of beauty that will never age. Young girls who are using classic characters for a standard of beauty will see and hear about her in the modern adaptations and they will see someone who as this unattainable beauty that they cannot reach. Neither of those faults plagues The Great Debaters. By highlighting themes of individual achievement against a daunting backdrop, this film provides heroes who can be admired irrespective of their race, even though skin color is a huge part of the story. More significantly, it does not shy from showing the darkest aspects of human nature. A scene in The Great Debaters is designed to shock and horrify, and it succeeds in doing so. But it is in no way exploitative; it is necessary to the understanding of the characters and their motivations, and to coming to grips with elements of the social fabric that are too often softened for mass consumption. The film makes it evident that racism can be more ghastly than calling someone degrading names.Denzel Washington His initial goals are modest: face off against other black colleges. But when the team goes on an undefeated run that includes toppling one of the best black debating teams in the country, he sets his sights higher and challenges National Champion Harvard. Initial Post: Access to healthcare Paula Moran Lally Healthy People 2020 aims to establish nationwide health enrichment goals and increase public knowledge regarding the indicators for health, disease and disabilities while supporting opportunities for enhancement (Nies McEwen, 2015). One of the most crucial goals Access to Health Care has been highlighted in lieu of the fact that in 2014 the United States health care system needed to provide the 32 million uninsured Americans with needed health insurance for the first time as a result of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) (Healthy People 2020, 2012). The ACA has formulated a four part system build around Medicare, Medicaid, employer sponsored insurance and the new state based insurances ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many key components in approaching access to health care: coverage, services, timeliness and workforce (Healthy People 2020, 2015). Patients who have a positive and consistent source of care will ultimately have better end results, minor discrepancies and fewer costs (Healthy People 2020, 2015). Timeliness is the health system s capability to optimize services in a convenient manner, whether it embraces the time spent either waiting in a doctor s office or an emergency department. At the same time for many patients it encompasses the time between analyzing the need for tests or treatment and obtaining those results. Working as an ER nurse there has been incredible long waiting times in emergency rooms secondary to the fact that people are using the ER for care and more notably as their primary care physician. Likewise prolonged Emergency department wait times can decrease patient satisfaction and notably people leave without been seen. Finally the different element of workforce is vital in contributing access to health services. Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) play an important role in providing access to health services and it has been noted that many medical students are leaning away from working in primary care (Healthy People 2020, 2015). Our ultimate goal is to direct them towards that needed profession. The Healthy People 2020 leading health ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I ve seen some very graphic injuries from watching a basketball game. All sports have some sort of injury possibility, but this oe would definitely be on the bottom of the rest. Main injuries are ankle sprains, jammed fingers, or some of the possible more severe injuries include knee injuries. My experience with injuries aren t a whole lot, because I would like to say I don t put myself into situation to get hurt a whole lot. Self-Presentation In Tamburlaine When language serves as a tool for characterization, two fundamental distinctions must be established: whether the verbal forms of self presentation remain implicit or explicit and whether the implicit form of self presentation is voluntary or involuntary. Explicit self presentation occurs when a figure consciously outlines its picture of itself and this may happen in the context of either monologueor dialogue. The information received from the character in this way is not objective or trustful and should be evaluated as elements of a subjectively coloured form of self presentation. • 19. Jimmy Carter Literature Review Jimmy Carter was a very avid Christian before, during and after his time in office. He is commonly acknowledged of being one of the most religious presidents in history. The purpose of this literature review is to give an overview of how academia interprets Carter s religiosity. Berggren and Rae (2006) describe Carter as an Evangelical style president with a strong devotion to his corresponding Evangelical Faith. He is referred to being the born again president. Carter had a born again experience during his pre presidential life which supports he was evangelist during this part of his life. In this experience, he questioned his faith after a failed attempt to become governor. It wasn t until his sister, a devout evangelist, spoke to and convinced him that he had not fully dedicated himself to God, that he had a born again realization and devoted himself to Christ. Carter s Evangelical Faith is further supported by him referencing himself as born again and saying, I believe God wants me to be the best politician I can be (Lindsay, 2007). Lindsay s article also reasons that at the beginning of his presidency Carter had a high rate of evangelical approval because these people could easily connect with like minded president. Carter s evangelism religiosity is demonstrated by these two sources before and during his early administration but gives no insight into how might have changed during and after his presidency. Perverse Portraits Of Phallic Power In Flannery OConnor Because Enoch is such a physically driven character, he often highlights the novel s theme and irony with just his actions, but there are many instances where characters exemplify irony and theme with only their thoughts and beliefs. Hazel pursues Sabbath Lily Hawkes thinking that she is an innocent young woman he can corrupt but finds that she is actually very experienced and looking to seduce him. This sets about events such as Hazel destroying the mummy Enoch gives him and forcing Sabbath to leave (O Connor 189). Hazel initially decides to pursue her to get closer to Asa Hawkes, but that proves to be no help. Hazel, as an example of irony, is later seduced by Sabbath as she calls him the king of the beasts (O Connor 106). This reveals her to not be the pure soul Hazel had assumed and after sleeping with her, he feels troubled (O Connor 170). White Trash, Low Class, and No Class at All: Perverse Portraits of Phallic Power in Flannery O Connor s Wise Blood, states that Sabbath, as well as the audience, knew that Sabbath was looking to seduce Hazel because he wanted nothing but Jesus, but when Sabbath tells Hazel this, he forces her out of his car and out of his life (Paige 332). In fact, some philosophers rejected Christianity, arguing that it drew focus away from creating a better life on earth and instead promised people a false after world. Such ideas were exemplified by philosophers such as Friedrich Schiller, who argued that thought and reason were superior to one s senses or feelings. Likewise, many intellectual groups valued the individual conscience and ability to reason over religious inspiration. While religion was being challenged in Europe, across the Atlantic, the American Revolution rejected the monarch and created way for a representative government. That is if the reduction in cost measured by the lower average cost would be sufficiently large relative to the rise in price, then the merger would improve welfare of consumers as cost saved will be greater than deadweight loss. But if the rise in price after the merger is sufficiently large relative to the reduction in average cost then the merger lowers welfare (deadweight loss). The antitrust authorities can determine if the merger would enhance welfare or not depending on how reacts to the merger. • 44. Masks And Figures In Picasso s Guernica By Pablo Picasso In the painting Guernica by Pablo Picasso, the artist uses abstract shapes and figures to represent the horrors of war. The work is a large mural painted in oils and the colors used are variations of black and white. By using these dark somber colors instead of bright vibrant colors, Picasso shows that Guernica is not a painting that is supposed to be visually pleasing but instead is supposed to present a message. Certain shades of grey in the painting look like that of an old printed newspaper and almost make the work seem like it is a picture you might see on the front page. Picasso uses shape quite a bit and the painting seems to be centered on a triangular shape that draws the eye upwards and to the center to the eyeball. This eyeball, with an iris made out of a lightbulb, looks to be casting a light down upon all of the carnage. The jumble of human limbs, geometric shapes, and animal heads are given emphasis because they appear to rest atop a solid black background. There are quite a few figures in this piece and the overall movement in it is chaotic. Certain figures are given emphasis because of their size, such as the woman holding the candlestick, the bull s head, and the crying woman holding her child. Guernica was named after a village in Picasso s home country that was bombed for two days straight during the Spanish Civil War. This painting was his response to the tragedy. It was largely overlooked when it was first unveiled because of the abstract nature of its composition but is now seen as famous representation of the devastating effects of war on innocent people. Francisco Goya s The Disasters of War, No. 18: Bury Them and Say Nothing is an etching with aquatint. It is also in black and white and features another gruesome image of war. It is smaller in scale than Guernica, but it s realistic depiction of a pile of dead bodies lying on the ground make it a powerful image. The dark black ink used to cover the ground beneath them emphasizes the bodies and draws the viewers eye to them. Standing just above the bodies to the right are two figures that appear to be mourning the dead lying before them. Humans play a big part in the addition to the carbon in the air. Every car on the road produces carbon dioxide into the air, as well as the factories worked in, also release carbon dioxide. However, nature also contributes to the increase of carbon dioxide. Wildfires are an attribute to greenhouse gas in the air that is almost uncontrollable by humans. When acres of land is burned, the smoke releases carbon dioxide into the air. Carbon Dioxide takes over the oxygen levels that humans need in order to live and breath. Carbon Dioxide is a gas that is absorbed from the air through plants during the process of photosynthesis. Trees are important in the regulation of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere. A newspaper article, The New York Times, states, Wildfires also release carbon dioxide, one of the main drivers of climate change, and reduce the number of trees available to absorb carbon dioxide, a double whammy for the atmosphere (Schlossberg). Trees and forests help maintain the level of this gas, by releasing oxygen and absorbing carbon dioxide. Unfortunately, wildfires interrupt the receiving of carbon dioxide. When a forest catches on fire, the substance that absorbs the greenhouse gases are burned down. Not only are the wildfires releasing millions of metric tons of carbon dioxide, there is no longer a product to take in the toxic gas. Therefore, more greenhouse gases are released than absorbed, ...
