Leadership Behavior, Team Development And Group Cohesion...
The purpose of this paper is to discuss relevant research regarding a number of concepts related to
group cohesion including: leadership behavior, team development and group cohesion as a
mediator. Coaching elements identified as being positively related to group cohesion include: the
quality of training and instruction, social support, positive feedback and leadershipstyle (Yarmey,
2013). In particular, a democratic leadership style has been found to promote the development of
team cohesion (Crocker, 2016). Empirical evidence suggests that group s progress through a set of
well defined stages before becoming a cohesive team. According to Tuckman s model of team
development these stages include: forming, storming, norming and performing.... Show more

Leadership Factors
Across many sports, research has provided empirical support for the connection between coaching
elements and team cohesion (Crocker, 2016). Specific coaching elements identified as being
positively related to group cohesion include: the quality of training and instruction, social support,
positive feedback and leadership style (Yarmey, 2013). In the YouTube clip, Al Pacino s Any Given
Sunday Speech , the coach appears to demonstrate effective leadership skills promoting the team s
cohesion. In his motivational speech, a degree of social support is provided through the fostering of
a positive atmosphere. In addition, he provides instructions for the team s success by emphasizing
that the group must work as a team in order to be successful in their upcoming game. Unfortunately,
this clip offers little insight into the coach s decision styles (an important leadership factor related
to group cohesion). Two opposing coaching leadership styles have been found to influence team
cohesion: the autocratic style and the democratic style. While the autocratic style involves
independent decision making by the coach, the democratic style stresses joint decision making and

The Causes And Impacts Of Transnational Corporations
Transnational Corporations (TNCs), also known as Multinational corporations (MNCs), are
businesses that have subsidiaries in at least one other state other than their home state (Jackson,
2013) Due to their reach they have a fairly significant role on global politics. They control the
mass of the economy and GDP of many states, place pressure on policy makers through their
decisions and influence the decisions of citizens through media. They, however, would not be able
to function without the rules and economic control states have to create a market place and media
channels. This limits their power to an extent but they still retain a position of power within the
global political scene.
TNCs have had a massive growth post World War II with America dominating the international
market well into the 1960 s until Europe and Japan began to compete against them. In the modern
global market changes in political regimes and ideologies have allowed for a diverse market with
Eastern Europe and many other Asian countries finding their way in. China has made itself a super
power in international trade, manufacturing and export due to the cheap costs. Many Transnational
corporations have more worth than some states with Wal Mart being worth more than Israel, Poland
and many others. There is an estimated sixty one thousand TNCs that make up two thirds of the
global trade with a third coming from inter firm transactions (Raghavan, 1996). The states
themselves take advantage of the reach

Argumentative Essay On Sports Are Good
Some think sports are gook but others think they are bad, some say they do not help you, some
say they do, well this article going to tell parents some facts about an opinion. Children can get
lots of exercise when people play competitive sports and children will get better grades in school.
One reason about competitive sports are good are, competitive sports are good because there are
so many reasons why sports give people exercise and children get better grades in school. In the
article espn.com by Bruce Kelly he mentions a quote said by Sports and Fitness Industry
Association or SFIA that says, 21.47 million kids between 6 and 17 play sports. Research sample
of 2,185 students in 2007 for the Women s Sports Foundation and found that... Show more content

There are just so many injury s that children could hurt themselves and might never recover from
the injury. The first reason to support that is from the article Listening to Wisdom from a 10 year
old Son about His Head Injury by, Adam Buckley Cohen and the childwas talking, he said, Dad, I
m scared. I only have one brain, and I don t want to hurt it playing football. My son Will, his 10
year old eyes filling with tears, was trying to decide whether to play quarterback in his peewee
game against Roosevelt Elementary. I ve become all too familiar with accounts of N.F.L.
veterans exhibiting Alzheimer s like symptoms in their 40s, of teenagers dying after playing too
soon after a concussion. This supports the main idea because, it is arguing that it doesn t matter
that a lot of people play sports it is just too high risk of getting injured. The second reason is,
from Hey, data data swing by Bruce Kelley and Carl Carchia, they say The No. 1 fear of sports
parents is seeing their child injured on the field. And due to the United States growing
population and sports participation, that s now more common roughly 2.7 million kids under
20 were treated for sports and recreation injuries from 2001 to 2009. This supports the claim
because, It is stating that a lot of people get injured and it is not worth playing if people get
injured. The Final reason is from the article High Cost of Youth Sports by visualNews.com they
said In the United States, parents spend $671 on average per year to cover the costs of uniforms
and the hefty fees charged for registration, lessons and coaching, and at least 1 in 5 ends up
spending over $1,000 per child, every year. This supports the claim because, This means that people

Essay about Natural Descriptions in Coleridge s and Lord...
Natural Descriptions in Coleridge s and Lord Byron s Texts Works Cited Missing Two closely
related texts, one that we ve studied in this class and one that we haven t, that handle natural
description differently are Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Lord Byron s
Manfred. Both of these texts central characters have experienced trauma, and their portrayal of their
environments reveal the effects that the events have left on them. While Coleridge s mariner is
unable to consolidate his past and is relegated to constantly relive it, Byron s Manfred has protected
himself from his unnamed vice by distancing himself from his feelings and environment. Obvious
parallels exist between the poems, but what I found most striking... Show more content on

This image accomplishes two things: 1) It tells the reader how he views himself, comparing himself
to a thousand thousand slimy things (l 237). 2) And it shows how he views the outside world, as a
corrupted, threatening environment. These descriptions reflect the events well enough to
determine that the mariner is attempting to accurately relive/retell the events. While making it
sound as if it s for the benefit of those that he s telling, the arbitrariness of selecting the audience and
the ambiguity of the story s message discredit the mariner s suggestion and imply that the stories
retelling is for the mariner s benefit. Again, Coleridge s mariner and Byron s Manfred share in their
experiences of trauma but differ in their attempts to overcome it. The psychological analogy that
working through trauma mirrors the habituation of an event can explain this difference. By
repeatedly attempting to experience the trauma, the mariner tries to get use to his past to reconcile
with his emotions. Manfred has successfully completed this process. The downfall with habituation
is that you eventually become desensitized to that stimuli and therefore lose a connection with the
environment, which is exactly Manfred s situation. The descriptions in Byron s text seem, largely,
distant emotionally and physically. He doesn t attempt to revisit his

Theories Of Group Dynamics
CHAPTER 3:
THEORETICAL BACKGROUND POF THE STUDY:
1.THE FUNDAMENTALS OF GROUP DYNAMICS:
Group dynamics refers to the interactions between people who are talking together in a group
setting.
Group dynamics can be studied in different settings, in classroom settings, and in social settings.
Any time there are three or more individuals interacting or talking together, there are group
dynamics.
Another definition of group dynamics is the extent to which the team members in the group are
actively participating in decision making, sharing their ideas about the tasks, motivating co
employees.
Team and group dynamics are important is given to these dynamics plays a key role in overall
success of an organization.
Group dynamics can be referred to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The complexity of large groupings is partially because they are made up of interrelated subgroups.
As the size of a group increases, the need for more organization or leadership also often becomes
more obvious.
German sociologist GEORG SIMMEL argued that as the group becomes greater, the individual
becomes separated and grows more alone, isolated and segmented.
Simmel s view was somewhat ambiguous with respect to group size. On one hand, he believed
that the bigger the group the better for the individual. In a larger group it would be harder to exert
control on an individual, but there is a possibility of the individual becoming distant impersonal.
Group dynamics can be referred to group development and movement in time towards its goals
substantiated by the interaction and communication of group members and the external influences.
It considers the set of social and psychological processes and phenomena that take place during the
whole life cycle of the group.
Group dynamics covers all stages of group development starting from its creation, functioning,
development, stagnancy, regress and break up. Based on the mentioned definitions, in the given
work together in order to achieve common goals

The Ethiopian Orthodox Church
Spirituality has a unique definition for every individual. As for myself, my spirituality is the path to
my eternal life through my savior Jesus Christ. As a follower of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido
Church, the church has taught me the way of life and how to constantly mend myself toward the
right path while serving others. To begin with, the country I grew up in, Ethiopia is truly a
combination of the two worlds because it is the first country to accept Christianityand Islam before
even the Europeans did. What differs the Ethiopian Orthodox Church is the replica of the Ark of the
Covenant we have in every church. The ark of the covenant, or as called by us Ethiopians Tabot, is

I realized that vocation does not have to be religious and it could just be something virtuous that
we do the world. My vocation can be a contribution from both humanity s point of view as well as
my religious point of view. The reason is because when I do something good to help others, it
should be from the bottom of my heart; and I should be helping just because I am a human and
that I can. From the religious perspective at the same time, my soul will be filled with joy when I
help others; and in a way, I will be fulfilling the words of God as written in the bible. Because the
foundation of all Christianity is Christ, the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido church and Catholicism
do overlap. However, the difference comes in at the part where the Ethiopian Orthodox believes in
the natural union of the Divine and Human Nature, hence the word Tewahido meaning mixture in

One of the first assignments we had in this class was to write a paper discussing our goals and
aspirations for the upcoming semester in this class. The three main goals I focused on in that
first paper were to make new friends and meet new people, to become more confident in
everything I do, and to learn to preform and use my voice when acting and/or speaking in front
of others. I think with the help of my professor as well as the help from my classmates, I
achieved all of these goals I had hoped to, along with accomplishing many other things I did not
expect to. I believe this class helped me in many ways.
I have made more friends through this class then I had ever hoped to. The class had such a fun and
open atmosphere and it allowed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We focused a lot on this in action. I think this really helped me stay on tract and not let my nerves
take over. I think this has made me more confident in everything I do.
The final goal I hoped to achieve this semester was to learn to preform and use my voice when
acting and/or speaking in front of others. Over the span of the semester we have learned many
techniques in this class that I think have really helped me when preforming not only in this class
but also in my other classes. I have learned to project my voice to the entire class and be
confident when I present. Usually when I present I have a problem with talking way to fast, this
class has taught me how to control this. I have learned to take a breath when I am starting to talk
way to fast. Learning how to become a good speaker and presenter will help me in my future
classes as well as with my future career.
Upon graduation I plan on becoming a nurse. My dream job is to work in the labor unit with
newborns. Although with this job I will not have to do many presentations, these goals I have
worked to achieve in this class will help me in my job in the future. The most important will be
being confident in everything I do. I will have to be confident in my knowledge of the subject and
also with how I present the information with the patients as well as with my coworkers. This is
similar to this class. I learned to be confident when

(Ans)
Devsari or Dand was a small token fee paid by people of other villages bordering thevillages of
Bastar. It was charged when someone from the other village wanted to have some forest products
fromBastar.
(Q.)How did the forest laws initiate the scope of employment?

Many communities left their traditional occupation and started trading of forest products or other
economic activities. For example, the Mundurucu people in Brazil who started collecting latex
from wild rubber trees became totally dependent on rubber trades in the later years.

The Forest Act brought severe hardships for villagers across the country. After the Act, their
everyday practices cutting wood, grazing of cattle, collection of fruits and roots, hunting and
fishing were treated as illegal activities. People were forced to steal wood from the forests and
when caught, were at the mercy of the forest guards.
(Q.)
What are the recent developments in forestry?
(3 Marks)
(Ans)
1) The concept of forest management has changed since 1980. It was observed by the government
that implementation of strict forest laws was leading to stealing of timbers and illegal hunting.
2) Forest dwellers were kept away from the implementation procedure of these laws andtherefore, it
generated conflict between the two parties the government and the villagers.
3) Indian adivasis preserve the forest land and resources and therefore, the government is involving
local people in the matters like safetyand security of forest land, forest products and wild animals.
(Q.)
Elaborate some of the activities of the people of Bastar.
(3 Marks)
(Ans)
1) The people of Bastar believe deeply in the village and its offerings. Since the village
peopleknow the boundaries of the village, they look after the natural resources.
2) If people from a village want to take some wood from the forests of another village, they pay a

The Future Of The U.s. Economy
The Future of the U.S. Economy
What lies ahead for the U.S. economy is uncertain and is leaving the minds of people in dismay
as to how will they survive in their near future. The U.S. has not had a positive balance of trade
since 1976. That means since 1976 other countries have been exporting goods and services to us
and we have been exporting our currency to them in return. This trade off has actually been
mutually beneficial (to an extent). The U.S. dollar has helped other countries stabilize their own
monetary regimes, and has given them a powerful medium of exchange. In the U.S. the
currencies backed by the dollar or triangulating trade through the dollar tend to require large
dollar reserves, which increases demand for our export. When a nation s debt exceeds its ability
to repay even the interest, it can be assumed that the currency will collapse. The greater the level
of debt, the more dramatic the inflation must be to counter it. The more dramatic the inflation, the
greater the danger that hyperinflation will take place. As the US dollar is a fiat currency and is on
the ropes, the US will experience a currency emergency at the street level that will be
unprecedented. Your life savings could be reduced to nothing almost overnight. Inflation is a fact of
life. However, the thing governments have traditionally done when they simply can t pay their
debts is print more money. The problem with this is the further you expand the money supply, the
less the money you

The National Football League on Legal Hits
The national football league has stiffened its policy on legal hits. The hit zone has shrunk, while
player frustrations have grown. The policy is enacted in an effort to reduce the number of
concussions in the game of football. The enforcement of these rules has strayed away from
being all about safety. The policy on hits has created a divide among its players and fans alike.
The policy of hits being enforced so strictly has had a significant impact on the sport. The
sociology of the NFL and the rule itself drive this argument. By stepping on the field as an NFL
football player, it is accepted that it is very dangerous. The players make enough money to make
the concussions worth it. Profiting from the fine money for these hits has caused the NFL to be
enforcing these rules unethically, the rules and the impact they have had on the sport have been
detrimental to football. The NFL has created a new acceptable hit zone which is very small.
Limiting a players area to deliver a hit has created a difficulty for them. Players have had to
completely adjust their approach to tackling. Players are becoming very frustrated with the new
rules, for example Pittsburgh Steelers player Ryan Clark states ...give a guy who is 200 pounds,
like myself, a 2 foot area to stop a guy who is 240 or 250 running at full speed. They might as
well just take us off the field... (Patra 1). This is evidence that NFL players are actually getting
frustrated with these rules. Ryan Clark is one of the most

interview experience will be presented in the class. I asked if she was comfortable with these
conditions, and letting her know if at any time she feel uncomfortable to answer any type of
questions, she is under no obligations to answer them. I started the recording and the interview
by asking her a brief basic personal information, including her age, where does she live and if she
considered herself as disable. Once we established that she considered her slight disable, to better
understand why she considered herself disable, and why only slightly, I asked her if she can
describe on what she meant. She implied that her learning disabilityaffects her workforce, and her
mental disability effects mostly on her social participations. She would make mistakes at work,
and having bipolar disorder mean she was easily overwhelmed and may cause her coworkers to
avoid her, and when she is depressed, she would avoid interact with her coworkers.
For the reason that she has both learning disability and mental disorder, I felt strongly to understand

wanted to know about her childhood environment and her parents roles in her life. I was also

Human Behavior And Human Development Essay
While the study of human genes is increasingly improving our understanding of human
development, it is not solely our genetic makeup that determines how we will develop. Humans as a
species share many universal traits, which make it easy to disregard the large influence the
environment plays in development. Throughout the lifespan, the environment presents itself in
many different positions that help determine and shape humandevelopment. By looking at the
influence of the environment and geneticson human development we are able to create a more
holistic view of this process and gain a better understanding of the complexities involved within it.
Through this comprehensive lens, it is easy to see how probabilistic human development offers the
greatest amount of explanation, unlike the predetermined views of genetic influence in the past,
and that environmental influence has an extensive impact on human behavior. Throughout human
history, there have been many shared processes and factors related to development. Evolutionary
psychologyis a branch of psychology that has developed based on the idea that humans have shared
behavioral traits. Demonstrations of these shared human traits can be seen in fixed patterns. These
fixed patterns, such as yawning and attachment, are unlearned behaviors ever present in human
development, allowing us to overestimate the power of genetics on human development as a whole
(Newman Newman, 2016). While fixed patterns do have a largely

Issue #1 mountain property that is currently in process of foreclosing includes a squatter

In a similar case in Lakewood, Ohio, the Saleets were about to have their home, along with their
neighbors homes, taken to build new higher end condominiums. The mayor of the city had
pressed for the new development as a way to strengthen the tax base. In the end, the Lakewood
residents were able to reject the proposed development, remove the blight label from their
neighborhood and also voted the mayor out (Leung, 2009). Yes, the new resort would create jobs
to manage the resort, and increase the city s income and taxes, however, the area does not qualify
as one that requires this sort of enhancement. As stated in the Institute For Justice (2013) website
The justification the City had offered for the takings was that a new development would create
more jobs and taxes, but keep this in mind: anyone s home or small business would generate more
taxes as a shopping mall. If that can justify such takings, then literally no home or business would
be safe from this kind of abuse at the hands of government (para.3). Should Barney be unable to
win the opportunity to keep his home, fighting at least gives the chance to help get the best
available amount for what qualifies as full market value.

The Essays On Physiognomy By Solomon Asch
The Essays on Physiognomy, written in 19th century, was a paper which tried to describe in a
scientific way how to understand in minutes the character of a person, based only in his physical

extreme popular; even if there was nothing supporting the unfounded conclusions of this essay, like
the relation between close eyebrows and stable personality! Still, the popularity of this paper shows

Additionally, he discussed order effects. Primacy effects were associated with the first items in the
list which affected impressions more, while recency effects had to do with the fact that the last
items affected impressions more. He also talked about the halo effect, in which the positive or
negative evaluation associated with some traits spreads to others. Moreover, he supported that
impressions have structure and that the meanings of their elements (traits) depend on which other
elements are present.
Implicit personality theory is a network of assumptions that individuals hold about relationships
between people, behaviors and traits. Research has shown that if we know or believe that
someone has one particular trait, this leads us to infer that they have other traits as well
(Schneider, 1973; Selikides Anderson, 1994). As we will discuss next, this very useful in cases

Research has also suggested that information which is initially presented is more powerful in
forming a general impression, either because new information about a person always means simply
updating the first impression which always stays there or because individuals tend to pay much
more attention to the information that we encounter first in order to form an impression, thus
assimilating it better (Anderson 1962, 1965).

Essay on The Practice of Music Censorship
Music censorship has taken many forms in the past, but many forms are overbearing and
generally ridiculous. Censorship comes in many forms. The practice of censorship is defined as
...the act of changing or suppressing speech or writing that is considered subversive of the
common good. (Merriam Webster). Old forms of censorship included not allowing airplay, refusal
of sale, and refusal of publishment. The major issue found with those that oppose censorship, is
that they have no real grounds to address the problem sensibly. Most focus of censorship, however,
is focused on the younger genres of music such as Metal, Punk, and especially Rap. The structure

There is no area for the language to be expressed and let be untouched.(EO) Much of America s
censorship has seen specific targets in what has been chosen to be censored. A wondrous
example would be the foreign metal pop influence band, Rammstein. A number of their songs
were banned from television, or were not permitted to play on daytime airtimes.(Rammstein) An
example of one of their songs banned, is a track that s titled Ich Will. When this track s name is
translated to english, it reads I want. The video accompanying the song portrays the band
committing crimes of terrorism, then later receiving airtime for their behaviour. Politicians
actually moved to have the video and song banned from the US on account of the behaviour
shown in the video.(Rammstein) References of bands being dis promoted for their portrayals in
lyrics and video accompaniments go on for ages. A short list of examples of songs/ artists that
saw censorship in newer music consists of Tell Me Baby, (RHCP), also Killing in the Name of,
(Rage Against the Machine) and Closer, (NIN) So overall, Music has it s own particular area of
censorship which is unique and flawed in it s own way. Although there have been some more recent
changes in music to support the freedom of artists, the past has been condemning and rough for

an antisocial way. Punk music is a form of rebellion, and it turned against all other musical forms

The Buzzcocks were another band from the northwest, and helped forge the Manchester punk
scene by helping bands like Warsaw, who later changed their name to Joy Division. The
Ramones had a bigger following in the UK than they did in their native country; the US was too
embraced in Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles to take any notice of anything else. Malcolm
Mclaren was the owner of a shop called quot;Sex quot; in Kings road, which sold Bondage gear
and punk items. Eventually he gathered together a few young Naive boys who were willing to
help him revolutionise the world of music. Johnny Rotten, as legend has it, first entered his shop
with a Pink Floyd T shirt sketched with the words quot;I hate quot; above the band s name. As a
result of the Bill Grundy show incident, which gave the Pistols and the Banshees no shortage of
press coverage, punk became almost impossible to ignore and major labels snapped and signed
most of the first wave. At first, a lot of them did refuse to change, but the rate at which some
changed their musical style was alarming; The Clash by 1980 had turned into a convovulated mess,
with Soul, Reggae, Funk, Rap and many other styles being present on the triple Sandinista album.

Advocacy Competences of School Counselors
Advocacy is one of the major roles for professional school counselors. The concept of advocacy
is the tradition of professional counselors, but the role of advocacy in school counseling was not
valued until the recent times. The purpose of this paper is to give a reflection about the article
on school counseling in order to show and describe the advocacy competencies of school
counselors. The article was written by Jerry Trusty and Duane Brown. The article was set to
provide a structure that helps to conceptualize advocacy in order to develop advocacy
competencies. School counselors have a key role in advocating for academic success for each
student in the school. The advocacy makes the counselors have a leadership role in encouraging
and promoting school reforms. The advocacy efforts of school counselors aim to eliminate
obstacles preventing the development of students and to create chances for all students to learn. It
also aims to ensure students have access to the school curriculum that fits their needs. School
counselors collaborate with other people within and outside the school to assist students meet their
learning needs. In addition, advocacy promotes positive and systematic change in schools (Trusty
Brown, 2005). The advocacy competencies according to Trusty and Brown s article were designed
from literature reviews, personal experiences as school counselors. They categorized them into
three groups, that is, counselor s dispositions, knowledge and skills.

Implementation of a Management Production Schedule for...
Realco Breadmaster Company It is very important for a business to have a master production
schedule because it enables companies to determine whether or not it is meeting the demands of
production. Businesses without a master production schedule are at a huge disadvantage
compared to businesses that do have a MPS. For example, a business can have many products in
stock but can miss out on its profits due to the holding cost. Not having a MPS can cause
businesses to lack in supply which can result into customers receiving their products very late. A
company known as the Realco Breadmaster Company has experienced what it is like to be in
business without a MPS. Johnny Chang, the owner of the Realco Breadmaster Company, would
like to adopt a MPS for Realco so that the company can get back on its feet. Here s a sketch of the

The Purpose Of This Work Is To Explore Machiavelliв
Ђ™S...
The purpose of this work is to explore Machiavelli s political philosophy through the lens of
discord. In terms of discord, Machiavelli presents the two main rivals, who are the nobles and the
people. He sees the two different humors of the nobles and the people as the cause of discord. He
observes that conflicts caused by the two diverse humors create salutary effects. His praise of
tumults has inspired scholars not only to relate the notion of humors to the discussion of political
freedom, but also to find the origin of the Modern Republicanism in his political philosophy.
Focusing on the irrational cause of humors, however, existing studies have slightly overlooked
rational causes such as idea or reason or knowledge of political... Show more content on

He also plays an important role in transforming detrimental results of discord to its salutary results.
In this dissertation, I will categorize the one man s characteristics into three features: tyrannical,
prudent, and deceitful. I will also illustrate how the one man manages discord, and even controls it
having with his three characteristics. The last question is associated with the relationship between
discord and regime. Conflicts take an important role in the creation of regime, its decline, and its
extinction. Presenting the connection between discord and regime, this work also explores the
regime types for which Machiavelli designs. In his preference of the republican regime, I will
present the distinctive features of Machiavelli s regime, which are tumultuous, rejuvenated, the
presence of the one man. Based on that, I will conclude that the presence of the one man is crucial
in terms of Machiavelli s regime. In the discussion of discord, there are two main contenders of the
nobles and the people defined. The one man is invisible in conflicts. However, his role is critical in
conflicts between them. Like an invisible hand, he involves in competitive relationship between
them by affecting the outbreak of tumults, its intensity, and its settlement. He also plays an
invisible, but important role in making Machiavelli s

Characteristics Of The Mayan Civilizations
There are many different types of civilizations. Three major ones are the Aztec, Maya, and Inca .
These different civilizations play a very important role in history today. The Maya empire was

develop a complete writing system. The Maya were also highly skilled at agriculture and
farming. The Maya were by far the most advanced and smart civilization. The Maya empire was
very precise and exact when it came to architecture. Mayans built their cities with all of the
important buildings in the middle such as palaces and temples. The homes and other small

Maya writing is in a way similar to modern Japanese writing used today. The hieroglyphic writing
was carved in a series of squares on the wall with a sharp tool created by the Mayan people.
Scientists and archaeologists today are able to understand some, but not all of Mayan
hieroglyphics. This civilization also wrote in books. These books were made of leaves, bark, or
leather and glued together with a stucco layer. These types of books were often protected with
animal skin or wooden boards. All of these facts conclude that the Mayan writing was much
more advanced and intricate than other civilizations. Agriculture or farming played a very
important role in the ancient Mayan civilization. The mayans were smart and used the calendar,
sun, and the seasons to grow specific crops. Back when framing first started they always grew
way too much food. As a result, they ended up trading their crops for items. However, at one
point in time farming did become somewhat difficult for the Mayans. As the population grew,
farmers found it ever more difficult to grow enough food to feed the growing population. (Linn
Don, Maya Empire Agriculture). Farming was not easy in the Maya region, it was difficult
because of the climate, and land. The soil was bad, there was few water sources, and the forests
were very dense and big. However, the Mayans were smart enough to develop a way of farming.
Mayan agriculture was different in every city state because of the unique land. In

Security Risks Surrounding Electronic Medical Records
In this paper we identify security risks surrounding Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and discuss
strategies healthcare providers can employ to mitigate those risks. We begin with a brief overview
of the legislative history driving the rapid adoption of EMR and other health information
technology. Legislation Driving Rapid Adoption of EMR Perhaps the most important piece of
legislation relevant to our understanding of security risks surrounding EMR and health information
technology is The Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which was
signed into law in 1996 by the Clinton administration. HIPAA impacts the healthcare industry in
many ways, but of particular importance at least for our purposes of understanding security risks
surrounding EMR is HIPAA s security rule, which governs how providers must protect private
health information during the process of adopting and implementing new health information
technology such as EMR. HIPAA requires covered entities to take reasonable measures to protect
electronic private health information. HIPAA is vitally important to our understanding of EMR
risks because providers can face harsh penalties if found in violation of HIPAA. Over the next
decade, significant advances were made on the technology front, and in 2009 president Obama
signed into law The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act
(HITECH). The HITECH Act introduced the concept of meaningful use as a way to

A common theme throughout the show was the use of the Wall of Sound, where many different
instruments and beats were being played simultaneously. This made the entire room fill with
sound, making it almost impossible to distinguish between the multiple layers of beats hitting
you. Although, this may have been true for much of the concert, the DJ s also incorporated the
concepts of minimalism into their work, by using very few instruments: drums, piano, a
synthesizer, and turntables. The tempo of the songs varied greatly throughout their performance,
with some songs being slowed down to incorporate new, unique sounds, and others being sped
up to introduce the next track. The canons of the songs vary greatly, with some sets of songs
sounding very similar to each other, then it will become quiet, and then the canon will change
again as the concert progresses into its next stages. Repetition also plays a major role in Porter
Robinson and Madeon s music, creating a steady beat that s easy to move to, with the rest of the
song never deviating greatly from the original beat. A great example of this is Porter Robinsons
song, Divinity, where the initial beat sets the theme for the rest of the song. In every song the
musical elements build upon each other. For example, in their song, Shelter, it starts with a beat
and an electronic voice speaking. As the song progresses these elements still exist, but other beats

According to the Appalachian Voices Organization, The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
notes that iron and manganese concentrations surpass drinking water guidelines in at least 40% of

by the chemicals and waste left behind from the mountaintop removal sites that has entered their

it is highly toxic and it can leach into groundwater. Furthermore, On August 20, 2004, a bulldozer

Analysis Of Angela And Adam s The Home With Angela s...
The case study of Angela and Adam describes a situation in which a Caucasian teenage mother,
Angela, does not appear to have a bond with her 11 month old son, Adam. According to
Broderick and Blewitt (2015) Angela and Adam live in the home with Angela s mother, Sarah.
Angela s relationship with her own mother is described as a bit dysfunctional as Sarah is
reported to continue to be angry with Angela for becoming pregnant in the first place. Sarah s
anger has caused her to deny Adam s father the ability to come to the home and play an active
role in Adam s life, therefore putting more of a strain on Angela, who has already had to drop
out of high school in an attempt to take care of Adam on her own. Angela has openly admitted to
aggressive behavior towards Adam such as grabbing his face and handling Adam in a rough
manner. In return, Adam has reacted by being avoidant of his mother and he is reported to not
respond to his mother as an 11 month old child should and he is not reported to have an appropriate
bond with his mother.
In order to find the appropriate research based intervention, it is important to review the lifespan
developmental theories which may apply in this case.
Lifespan Development Theories Bowlby s attachment theory, as well as Erikson s psychosocial
theory, indicates that a child s overall development is dependent on the care that they receive from
their caregiver, more specifically their mother. Meeting the needs of the child and providing a

This relationship will cause an increase in the costs per unit of output of products and goods,
causing inflation for the economy.
Question 2B
Question 3A
Date of purchase: $500,000 of shares of stock CPI = 190
One year later: $530,000 price sold CPI = 200
Rate of return = (530,000 500,000)/500,000 = 0.06 = 6%
% of inflation = (200 190)/190 = 0.0526 = 5.263 % inflation
real rate of return = we paid ($500,000/190) X 100 = $263,158 of shares of stock we received
($530,000/200) X 100 = $265,000 from the sale. So real rate of return = (265,000 263,158)/263,158
= 0.7 %
Question 3B
The CPI includes some weight of imported goods, while the GDPD does not include the weights
of imported goods. In this situation, we are calculating the real rate of return, so we use the CPI
because it more accurately expresses the average percentage of price increase of household

Lord Of The Sinner By J. M. Bradbury
In regards to the concepts of desire and pleasure Laura Esquivel said, Each of us is born with a
box of matches inside us, but we can t strike them all by ourselves. Desire for pleasure is hard
wired into human nature, and people will do whatever they can to acquire it. One strong desire
of pleasure is that which involves the human body and all the pleasures it has to offer. That desire
however, exists on a thin border one that if crossed enters the realm of lust. It is a realm of carnal
sin that paves the road to harsh and unrelenting punishment for all who follow it. Disgrace by J. M.
Coetzee, demonstrates lust and the punishment that comes with it through several events befalling
Byronic protagonist David Lurie. Given the horrifying assault scene of Disgrace, Coetzee is
alluding to the second circle of hellin Dante s Infernoand the punishment for the sin of lust. The
first allusion to hell s second circle in Disgrace s rape and battery scene is the entrapment of the
sinner. After being knocked unconscious by his assailants, David wakes to find himself in the
bathroom of his daughter s ranch house. After recovering slightly and attempting to exit the
room, he was placed in David finds himself trapped: He tries to kick at the door, but he is not
himself, and the space too cramped anyway, the door too old and solid (Coetzee 94). Despite any
effort David could attempt in his situation, he finds himself at the mercy of his surroundings.

Analysis Of John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
The book that I am currently reading is a book by John Steinbeck which is called Of Mice and
Men. Lennie has interacted with others in this book by being sarcastic, clever, and funny towards
other people, unraveling the conflicts and the personal difficulties Lennie has had to go through
in his life, but he mostly interacts with George because he is his best friend and will never leave
his side. These interactions with others will unravel the author s purpose for writing this book
because the main character is very lonely and this book talks a lot about loneliness in my opinion.
An example of one of these conversations or interactions is in the first chapter and in the second
part. George unslung his bindle and dropped it gently on the bank.

Compare And Contrast Craftsman And Bungalow Style Home
Craftsman and Bungalow Style Homes During the Arts and Crafts movement that took place in
the 19th century, a new trend in home building and design showed up that changed homes across
North America and Europe. These homes were normally designed by architects but it is writers
like Henry Wilson that made these homes popular thus adding to the value as well as craving
homeowners had for this design style. A true Craftsman or Bungalow style home had distinct
characteristics both on the inside and out. The exterior characteristics of Craftsman Style homes
are what made these homes stand apart from the other homes of the century. Craftsman and
Bungalow style homes were typically one to two stories with a low pitched roof. Rafter tails and
knee braces are exposed with elaborate rafter ends and verge boards. The entire... Show more

Craftsman designed hardware such as the tile work and lighting, enhances the handcrafted look
of the home. Living rooms are adjacent to the entry ways and can provide a physical connection
to the porch. The stone or brick fireplaces which are typically centered with bookcases and high
windows are the focal points of the living room. The dining room is the breaking point between
the public and private spaces of the home. This room shares natural light with the kitchen
through large windows and a connection to the back yard via sliding glass or French doors in
the dining room are more common in these homes today because of the growth of backyard
entertainment. Craftsman and bungalow Style homes also feature nooks for a quick meal and
are often located in or near the kitchen and allow for few people to eat and quick clean up. The
floor plans for these homes created a more holistic lifestyle for the homeowners. The flow between
the public and private spaces in the home allowed for families to socialize and be together more

Recently, Statistic Canada has point out Seniors are projected to become more numerous than

baby boom in 1950s, afterwards, there has been a steady decline in fertility. The median age in
Canada was 27.2 in 1956 and climbed to 39.5 in 2006 (Statistics Canada, 2016). With the decrease

How Did Djoser Build A Tomb Structure In Early Dynastic...
Many changes were made to funerary architecture as the years progressed. In Early Dynastic
period, the elite members of society would be buried under a tomb structure called a mastaba.
Inside the mastaba would be a sealed room for the ka statue of the departed. This room is called
the serdab. These funerary structures would often be arranged together into a necropolis and

The purpose of this paper is to discuss relevant research regarding a number of concepts related to group cohesion including: leadership behavior, team development and group cohesion as a mediator. Coaching elements identified as being positively related to group cohesion include: the quality of training and instruction, social support, positive feedback and leadershipstyle (Yarmey, 2013). In particular, a democratic leadership style has been found to promote the development of team cohesion (Crocker, 2016). Empirical evidence suggests that group s progress through a set of well defined stages before becoming a cohesive team. According to Tuckman s model of team development these stages include: forming, storming, norming and performing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The purpose of this paper is to discuss relevant research regarding a number of concepts related to group cohesion including: leadership behavior, team development and group cohesion as a mediator. Leadership Factors Across many sports, research has provided empirical support for the connection between coaching elements and team cohesion (Crocker, 2016). Specific coaching elements identified as being positively related to group cohesion include: the quality of training and instruction, social support, positive feedback and leadership style (Yarmey, 2013). In the YouTube clip, Al Pacino s Any Given Sunday Speech , the coach appears to demonstrate effective leadership skills promoting the team s cohesion. In his motivational speech, a degree of social support is provided through the fostering of a positive atmosphere. In addition, he provides instructions for the team s success by emphasizing that the group must work as a team in order to be successful in their upcoming game. Unfortunately, this clip offers little insight into the coach s decision styles (an important leadership factor related to group cohesion). Two opposing coaching leadership styles have been found to influence team cohesion: the autocratic style and the democratic style. The Causes And Impacts Of Transnational Corporations Transnational Corporations (TNCs), also known as Multinational corporations (MNCs), are businesses that have subsidiaries in at least one other state other than their home state (Jackson, 2013) Due to their reach they have a fairly significant role on global politics. They control the mass of the economy and GDP of many states, place pressure on policy makers through their decisions and influence the decisions of citizens through media. They, however, would not be able to function without the rules and economic control states have to create a market place and media channels. This limits their power to an extent but they still retain a position of power within the global political scene. TNCs have had a massive growth post World War II with America dominating the international market well into the 1960 s until Europe and Japan began to compete against them. In the modern global market changes in political regimes and ideologies have allowed for a diverse market with Eastern Europe and many other Asian countries finding their way in. China has made itself a super power in international trade, manufacturing and export due to the cheap costs. Many Transnational corporations have more worth than some states with Wal Mart being worth more than Israel, Poland and many others. One reason about competitive sports are good are, competitive sports are good because there are so many reasons why sports give people exercise and children get better grades in school. I only have one brain, and I don t want to hurt it playing football. My son Will, his 10 year old eyes filling with tears, was trying to decide whether to play quarterback in his peewee game against Roosevelt Elementary. I ve become all too familiar with accounts of N.F.L. veterans exhibiting Alzheimer s like symptoms in their 40s, of teenagers dying after playing too soon after a concussion. This supports the main idea because, it is arguing that it doesn t matter that a lot of people play sports it is just too high risk of getting injured. The second reason is, from Hey, data data swing by Bruce Kelley and Carl Carchia, they say The No. 1 fear of sports parents is seeing their child injured on the field. And due to the United States growing population and sports participation, that s now more common roughly 2.7 million kids under 20 were treated for sports and recreation injuries from 2001 to 2009. This supports the claim because, It is stating that a lot of people get injured and it is not worth playing if people get injured. The Final reason is from the article High Cost of Youth Sports by visualNews.com they said In the United States, parents spend $671 on average per year to cover the costs of uniforms and the hefty fees charged for registration, lessons and coaching, and at least 1 in 5 ends up spending over $1,000 per child, every year. Natural Descriptions in Coleridge s and Lord Byron s Texts Works Cited Missing Two closely related texts, one that we ve studied in this class and one that we haven t, that handle natural description differently are Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Lord Byron s Manfred. Both of these texts central characters have experienced trauma, and their portrayal of their environments reveal the effects that the events have left on them. While Coleridge s mariner is unable to consolidate his past and is relegated to constantly relive it, Byron s Manfred has protected himself from his unnamed vice by distancing himself from his feelings and environment. This image accomplishes two things: 1) It tells the reader how he views himself, comparing himself to a thousand thousand slimy things (l 237). 2) And it shows how he views the outside world, as a corrupted, threatening environment. These descriptions reflect the events well enough to determine that the mariner is attempting to accurately relive/retell the events. While making it sound as if it s for the benefit of those that he s telling, the arbitrariness of selecting the audience and the ambiguity of the story s message discredit the mariner s suggestion and imply that the stories retelling is for the mariner s benefit. Again, Coleridge s mariner and Byron s Manfred share in their experiences of trauma but differ in their attempts to overcome it. The psychological analogy that working through trauma mirrors the habituation of an event can explain this difference. By repeatedly attempting to experience the trauma, the mariner tries to get use to his past to reconcile with his emotions. Manfred has successfully completed this process. The downfall with habituation is that you eventually become desensitized to that stimuli and therefore lose a connection with the environment, which is exactly Manfred s situation. The complexity of large groupings is partially because they are made up of interrelated subgroups. As the size of a group increases, the need for more organization or leadership also often becomes more obvious. German sociologist GEORG SIMMEL argued that as the group becomes greater, the individual becomes separated and grows more alone, isolated and segmented. Simmel s view was somewhat ambiguous with respect to group size. On one hand, he believed that the bigger the group the better for the individual. In a larger group it would be harder to exert control on an individual, but there is a possibility of the individual becoming distant impersonal. Group dynamics can be referred to group development and movement in time towards its goals substantiated by the interaction and communication of group members and the external influences. It considers the set of social and psychological processes and phenomena that take place during the whole life cycle of the group. Economy The Future of the U.S. Economy What lies ahead for the U.S. economy is uncertain and is leaving the minds of people in dismay as to how will they survive in their near future. The U.S. has not had a positive balance of trade since 1976. That means since 1976 other countries have been exporting goods and services to us and we have been exporting our currency to them in return. This trade off has actually been mutually beneficial (to an extent). The U.S. dollar has helped other countries stabilize their own monetary regimes, and has given them a powerful medium of exchange. In the U.S. the currencies backed by the dollar or triangulating trade through the dollar tend to require large dollar reserves, which increases demand for our export. When a nation s debt exceeds its ability to repay even the interest, it can be assumed that the currency will collapse. The greater the level of debt, the more dramatic the inflation must be to counter it. The more dramatic the inflation, the greater the danger that hyperinflation will take place. As the US dollar is a fiat currency and is on the ropes, the US will experience a currency emergency at the street level that will be unprecedented. The policy is enacted in an effort to reduce the number of concussions in the game of football. The enforcement of these rules has strayed away from being all about safety. The policy on hits has created a divide among its players and fans alike. The policy of hits being enforced so strictly has had a significant impact on the sport. The sociology of the NFL and the rule itself drive this argument. By stepping on the field as an NFL football player, it is accepted that it is very dangerous. The players make enough money to make the concussions worth it. Profiting from the fine money for these hits has caused the NFL to be enforcing these rules unethically, the rules and the impact they have had on the sport have been detrimental to football. The NFL has created a new acceptable hit zone which is very small. Limiting a players area to deliver a hit has created a difficulty for them. Players have had to completely adjust their approach to tackling. Players are becoming very frustrated with the new rules, for example Pittsburgh Steelers player Ryan Clark states ...give a guy who is 200 pounds, like myself, a 2 foot area to stop a guy who is 240 or 250 running at full speed. Human Behavior And Human Development Essay While the study of human genes is increasingly improving our understanding of human development, it is not solely our genetic makeup that determines how we will develop. Humans as a species share many universal traits, which make it easy to disregard the large influence the environment plays in development. Throughout the lifespan, the environment presents itself in many different positions that help determine and shape humandevelopment. By looking at the influence of the environment and geneticson human development we are able to create a more holistic view of this process and gain a better understanding of the complexities involved within it. Through this comprehensive lens, it is easy to see how probabilistic human development offers the greatest amount of explanation, unlike the predetermined views of genetic influence in the past, and that environmental influence has an extensive impact on human behavior. Throughout human history, there have been many shared processes and factors related to development. Evolutionary psychologyis a branch of psychology that has developed based on the idea that humans have shared behavioral traits. Demonstrations of these shared human traits can be seen in fixed patterns. These fixed patterns, such as yawning and attachment, are unlearned behaviors ever present in human development, allowing us to overestimate the power of genetics on human development as a whole (Newman Newman, 2016). Moreover, he supported that impressions have structure and that the meanings of their elements (traits) depend on which other elements are present. Malcolm Mclaren was the owner of a shop called quot;Sex quot; in Kings road, which sold Bondage gear and punk items. Eventually he gathered together a few young Naive boys who were willing to help him revolutionise the world of music. Johnny Rotten, as legend has it, first entered his shop with a Pink Floyd T shirt sketched with the words quot;I hate quot; above the band s name. As a result of the Bill Grundy show incident, which gave the Pistols and the Banshees no shortage of press coverage, punk became almost impossible to ignore and major labels snapped and signed most of the first wave. At first, a lot of them did refuse to change, but the rate at which some changed their musical style was alarming; The Clash by 1980 had turned into a convovulated mess, with Soul, Reggae, Funk, Rap and many other styles being present on the triple Sandinista album. Realco Breadmaster Company It is very important for a business to have a master production schedule because it enables companies to determine whether or not it is meeting the demands of production. Businesses without a master production schedule are at a huge disadvantage compared to businesses that do have a MPS. For example, a business can have many products in stock but can miss out on its profits due to the holding cost. Not having a MPS can cause businesses to lack in supply which can result into customers receiving their products very late. A company known as the Realco Breadmaster Company has experienced what it is like to be in business without a MPS. Johnny Chang, the owner of the Realco Breadmaster Company, would like to adopt a MPS for Realco so that the company can get back on its feet. Here s a sketch of the MPS. In terms of discord, Machiavelli presents the two main rivals, who are the nobles and the people. He sees the two different humors of the nobles and the people as the cause of discord. He observes that conflicts caused by the two diverse humors create salutary effects. His praise of tumults has inspired scholars not only to relate the notion of humors to the discussion of political freedom, but also to find the origin of the Modern Republicanism in his political philosophy. Focusing on the irrational cause of humors, however, existing studies have slightly overlooked rational causes such as idea or reason or knowledge of political... These books were made of leaves, bark, or leather and glued together with a stucco layer. These types of books were often protected with animal skin or wooden boards. All of these facts conclude that the Mayan writing was much more advanced and intricate than other civilizations. Back when framing first started they always grew way too much food. As a result, they ended up trading their crops for items. Security Risks Surrounding Electronic Medical Records In this paper we identify security risks surrounding Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and discuss strategies healthcare providers can employ to mitigate those risks. We begin with a brief overview of the legislative history driving the rapid adoption of EMR and other health information technology. Legislation Driving Rapid Adoption of EMR Perhaps the most important piece of legislation relevant to our understanding of security risks surrounding EMR and health information technology is The Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which was signed into law in 1996 by the Clinton administration. HIPAA impacts the healthcare industry in many ways, but of particular importance at least for our purposes of understanding security risks surrounding EMR is HIPAA s security rule, which governs how providers must protect private health information during the process of adopting and implementing new health information technology such as EMR. HIPAA requires covered entities to take reasonable measures to protect electronic private health information. HIPAA is vitally important to our understanding of EMR risks because providers can face harsh penalties if found in violation of HIPAA. Over the next decade, significant advances were made on the technology front, and in 2009 president Obama signed into law The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH). This made the entire room fill with sound, making it almost impossible to distinguish between the multiple layers of beats hitting you. Although, this may have been true for much of the concert, the DJ s also incorporated the concepts of minimalism into their work, by using very few instruments: drums, piano, a synthesizer, and turntables. The tempo of the songs varied greatly throughout their performance, with some songs being slowed down to incorporate new, unique sounds, and others being sped up to introduce the next track. The canons of the songs vary greatly, with some sets of songs sounding very similar to each other, then it will become quiet, and then the canon will change again as the concert progresses into its next stages. Repetition also plays a major role in Porter Robinson and Madeon s music, creating a steady beat that s easy to move to, with the rest of the song never deviating greatly from the original beat. A great example of this is Porter Robinsons song, Divinity, where the initial beat sets the theme for the rest of the song. In every song the musical elements build upon each other. According to Broderick and Blewitt (2015) Angela and Adam live in the home with Angela s mother, Sarah. Angela s relationship with her own mother is described as a bit dysfunctional as Sarah is reported to continue to be angry with Angela for becoming pregnant in the first place. Sarah s anger has caused her to deny Adam s father the ability to come to the home and play an active role in Adam s life, therefore putting more of a strain on Angela, who has already had to drop out of high school in an attempt to take care of Adam on her own. Angela has openly admitted to aggressive behavior towards Adam such as grabbing his face and handling Adam in a rough manner.
