The Pros And Cons Of Sex Trafficking
In 2000, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, or TVPA, was passed to identify severe forms of
human trafficking, create harsh criminal penalties for offenders and provide support for victims. The
TVPA defines sex trafficking as a situation in which a commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud,
or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such act has not attained 18 years of age ( How
Porn Fuels Sex Trafficking ). The inclusion of the word coercion means that a commercial sex act can
be classified as sex trafficking as long as a victim is coerced or intimidated. The organization Fight the
New Drug identifies that there are often instances in the porn industry where the actor or actress is
threatened with lawsuits or charges ( How Porn Fuels Sex Trafficking ). Human trafficking isn t the
only illegal industry fueled by sexual violence and exploitation. The wide spread availability of
cameras in devices such as portable cameras and cell phones has made it easier to take secret
recordings of another s intimate body parts and other sexually explicit material without the individuals
consent or knowledge. Growing internet access has facilitated the nonconsensual distribution of those
images but the criminal laws in the United States have not stayed up to date with these developments.
Because of this, victims of revenge porn and nonconsensual pornography do not have adequate means
to seek justice. In a study conducted by Cynthia Najdowski at the University

Faith In Life Of Pi
Throughout the novel, Life of Pi, written by Yann Martel it introduces the characters Pi a human boy
who is stranded at sea and Richard Parker the tiger, who accompanies him on his journey. The story is
centered upon Pi and how he was able to heroically survive 227 days at sea and the struggles he had to
overcome. In the story, faith plays a significant role in Pi s personality and demonstrates how he was
able to overcome his hardships through faith. From this, reader s can evaluate their own faith based on
the significance of Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam. The point i m trying to prove is how throughout
the story you can see how faith plays a significant role in shaping Pi s personality.
Pi was struggling with religion in the very beginning.

Lady Bird Johnson, And Jacqueline Kennedy
The first lady is an unpaid public servant elected by one person her husband. Lady Bird Johnson. First
ladies tend to be looked upon as simply public figures or as support for the president. Not many
recognize the sacrifice first ladies make for their country, or the work they have been volunteered to
carry out. Their jobs are much more than living in the White House, selecting the proper china for
certain company, or memorizing the names of the many wives of certain foreign leaders. Much on the
contrary, the first lady has political significance and each has made their mark on society. Five
examples are first ladies Hillary Rodham Clinton, Eleanor Roosevelt, Rosalynn Carter, Claudia (Lady
Bird) Johnson, and Jacqueline Kennedy.
Former first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton is known throughout the world for the astounding things she
has accomplished, not only in the White House, but out. She is full of passion for whatever she sets as
her goal. Her confidence and constant motivational talks set a crowd on fire and her vision for the
future leaves most encouraged for they know that she s on their side. She is constantly aware of what
others think of her and works her hardest to make the world a better place and gain the trust of the
people. Hillary Rodham Clinton was chosen by her husband to be the leader of the Health Care
Reform and supervised research, investigatory trips, financial reports, numerous committees

Death Comes Swift Essay
Death comes swift. I lied awake in bed, unsure of what would happen to me now that Nan was dead.
She was all I had for the last 16 years, and while she wasn t accepting of who, what, I am... I know she
still had some love for me. My thoughts swirled in my head much as they had for the past week:
where will I go? , What if they find out about me? , What if I am discovered? I knew from my
grandmother that something terrible would happen if anyone discovered my... abilities. By the age of
nine I had been aloof and withdrawn in school, fearful that I might reveal myself to someone. She
forced me to church with her, begging the lord to extract my devil s gifts as she called them. I had one

I rolled the cheap rental fabric of the sleeve between my fingers before walking to my dresser and
pulling out my underwear. I grabbed a pair of plain boxers from the front and looked down at the
boring pattern. Might as well be a little different I muttered, as i pulled the old drawer all the way out,
feeling around for the pair of fitted boxer briefs I had secretly gotten for myself. The pale blue went
well with my pale skin, the spunky girl at the store said so herself. It was one of the few acts of
rebellion I had done up to that point. I still remembered how nervous I was going into the alternative
store in the local mall, I shook as I looked at all the crude jokes and sexual things inside. She came up
out of nowhere and asked if I needed any help. I stammered out No, I I m alright thanks. She must
have known I was nervous because she just smirked and said Here let s find you a souvenir. I only
nodded and followed her around the store as she asked me about what I liked, what I was into, etc. I
couldn t help but stair at her amazingly colored hair, it shimmered in the dim light like a peacocks

Reaction Paper On Perfume
Perfume is mixture of fragrant aroma compounds or essential oils, the first evidence of the use of
perfume by mankind dates back to the very old Egyptian civilizations around 2400 BC1. Throughout
the ages, fragrances have become gradually more essential and accessible. Nowadays, the perfume
business is a billion dollar industry 2. The companies also synthesize and trade the individual raw
materials used in perfumes, the perfume stocks are relatively unknown companies that create and
supply perfumes according to the wishes of their customers. The perfume raw materials are generally
complex mixtures of synthetic or natural (e.g. essential oils) organic compounds, the fortitude of the
composition of an unknown perfume, the so called perfume formulation process, is not an easy task.
Apart from the olfactive expertise of the perfumers, it also wants advanced analytical tools. Because
most perfume components are a polar and semi volatile in nature, for decade s olfactometry,

odor sensation by an individual when dispersed in 1 m3 of neutral air. Hence, 1 OU/m3 is the bench
mark of the odorant concentration scale3. In this way, the odor intensity can be estimated, the odor
concentration in terms of OU/m3 of a mixture is not the algebraic sum of OUs for the individual
components, but results from the combination of complex phenomena and mutual

Spiderman Hero
Spider Man is one of my favorite heroes of all time. Spider Man was a teenager named Peter Parker
with spider like abilities. Peter visited a laboratory to see a famous doctor and was bit by a spider that
gave him superpowers. Peter was given powers such as super strength, fast reflexes and the ability to
shoot webs from his hands. There are four different movies of Spider Man fighting villains. My
favorite villain that Spider Man faced was Doctor Octopus. Doctor Octopus was an intelligent mad
scientist (Otto Octavius), who built four, powerful mechanical appendages and attached the
appendages to himself. In Spider Man 2, Doctor Octopus would rob banks so that he can buy
expensive equipment for his lab. The equipment Doctor Octopus bought resembles how much of a
genius he desired to be. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Doctor Octopus tried to take money from banks, Spider Man always showed up to stop him
from doing so. Doctor Octopus believed that since Spiderman continuously tried to stop him from
robbing banks, he didn t want to see Doctor Octopus to succeed. Doctor Octopus vowed that the next
time Spider Man tried to stop him from robbing banks, he would kill Spider Man. Doctor Octopus
believed that his four mechanical appendages was enough to stop Spider Man, but he was
unsuccessful in doing so. Spider Man ripped off the four mechanical appendages and locked him in
jail. Doctor Octopus is one of many villains Spider Man had to fight. Spider Man 2 is my favorite
movie because even though Spider Man was new at being a superhero he prevailed over evil. Another
reason why Spider Man 2 is my favorite movie is because the effects in the movie with Doctor
Octopus four mechanical appendages was amazing. Spider Man never gave up on himself and always
defended his city, that is why he will be my one of my favorite superheroes of all

Papa John s Pizza And Economies Of Scope Essay

Papa John s Pizza and Economies of Scope

PAPA JOHN S PIZZAAND ECONOMIES OF SCOPE 2
Papa John s Pizza was founded in 1984 by John Schnatter, whose goal was to make high quality
pizzas and deliver them something unusual back then. This company is typically ranked currently as
the third largest national pizza chain, with franchises expanding outside of the
United States. When a business is expanding, one thing worthwhile to study is economies of scope, in
order to see why and how the expansion happened in looking at daily operations and average costs to
produce these fine pizzas.
An economy of scope is a proportionate saving gained by producing two or more distinct goods when
the cost of doing it is less than the cost of producing each good separately. Economies of scope (it s
used in the plural) focus on the fact that the average total cost of production decreases as a result of
increasing the number of different but compatible goods produced. In other words, as the company
increases the number of items it offers at very little extra cost to itself, the average cost to produce
each item drops, making all the items more affordable.
A study of the menu in a Papa John s restaurant demonstrates how economies of scope work.
Mr. Schnatter (Papa John, as he calls himself in his commercials) started the business model with a
few pizzas that he made in the broom closet of his father s bar. He started with

Identity Theft Essay examples
Introduction
There is currently a huge growing number of criminals that now do greater and more widespread
damage to their victims without ever meeting them. Identity theft surfaced in the early 1990s and
turned peoples everyday transactions into a data gathering game. Bits of personal information such as
bankcards, credit card accounts, income, social security numbers or just someone name, address, and
phone numbers are now collected and could be used illegally by these individuals without anyone s
knowledge.
The purpose of this study is to investigate what is being done to help control this growing crime in
North Carolina. This includes the evaluation of the identity theft ... Show more content on

The less sophisticated thieves have perfected the art of dumpster driving rummaging through trash.
Abusing employer s authorized access to credit reports or some even playing landlord has given them
unauthorized access to victim s reports. Some victims have been scammed fro information by an
identity thief posing as a legitimate businessperson or government official. In the most recent news
from Concord, NC (Aug. 19, 2004), the police have uncovered a more sophisticated case of ID theft.
The newspapers stated, Authorities think a portable credit card reader, or skimmer, was used to read
personal information off a credit card s magnetic strip. Then those details were applied to the strip on
the back of a different cared.
Information gathered from various nationwide newspapers have indicated that some employees of
companies that handle personal consumer information such as banks and utility companies, among
others, have emailed confidential loan files to unauthorized third parties. This inappropriate employee
use of email can result in identity persecution of the customer who have entrusted them with their
personal data.
The thieves, who now have the information they need, proceed with going on spending sprees at the
expense of the victim. They open new accounts in their name and SSN, write bad checks against a
checking account or run up the charges on a credit card, then leave them unpaid.

Southwest Airlines And The Airline Industry
Southwest Airlines, a cost leader in the airline industry, was faced with an important decision on
whether or not to enter LaGuardia Airport s expensive, heavily regulated and congested market. How
does a leader airline in discount airfare, continue to expand into high traffic markets without
compromising its core strategies and disrupting its existing network?
Founded in 1967, Southwest entered the airline industry at a time when interstate travel was heavily
regulated by the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB).10 Some of those regulations imposed by CAB
include: airlines were not allowed to discount fares even when their planes were at half capacity,
airlines were not able to add new routes or remove old routes, and new carriers were not allowed to
enter the interstate airline travel.10
Due to these regulations on the interstate market and seeing the success of intrastate carriers, such as
Pan Southwest Airlines (PSA) and Air Cal, Southwest entered the intrastate market where CAB
regulations did not apply.[10] [1] Southwest knew from early on that it had to provide considerably
lower fares to stave off the competition from other airlines and was planning to charge fares that were
at least 60% lower than the average coach fare .1 From the words of Colleen Barrett, We knew that we
were going to have to have substantially lower fares on day one of our operation than were currently
being charged because that was our only chance of winning a niche in the business .1

Personal Narrative-Changing Experience With Soccer
I ve been playing soccer a long time, longer than i remember. My dad says i ve played since I was
four. Despite that, as a freshman in highschool I still wasn t very good. id simply drifted through ten
years worth of summer and fall leagues, only picking up enough skill to become the captain of my
school s C team.
The team wasn t hopeless, for a c team. most of our players had played soccer before, usually in the
same recreational leagues I grew up in. we were about average better than some, worse than some but
we managed to stay on track for a winning season, more than the JV and Varsity teams could say.
Before the last game of the season our record was seven wins, and seven losses. A win would push us
above .500.
The game was almost over, and looked like it would end in a tie, when the referee called a penalty
kick on the other team. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scoring a penalty kick looks like the easiest thing to do in sports. Just put the small ball through the
big goal, and you score. But when you are standing in front of the goal, just you and the goalie, it gets
a lot harder. The game becomes a sort of psychological warfare between kicker and goalie, each one
trying to get into the other s head. Anyways, that day coach decided it was my turn to take the kick. I
had a chance to be the hero or the goat, as Charlie Brown says. I wanted to be the hero so I ran up to
the ball and kicked it as hard as I could. I would have scored a perfect field goal if i had been playing
the right kind of football. Instead the game wound down and ended in a

addition, and subtraction of whole numbers. We will also discuss and review the concept of least
common multiple (LCM), which is needed for fractional addition. Next, we will review fractional
amounts by sectioning and dividing cupcakes. Finally, we will divide the the cupcakes equally and eat
them! 2. Purpose A. The student will be able to model the following operations with pattern blocks:

This is a two person game. The goal is to be the first to discard your blocks. Each person starts with
the same number of hexagons, either one, two, or three. Follow these rules: 1 Take turns rolling the
cube. 2 You have three options on each turn: to remove a block (only if it is the fractional part of the
hexagon indicated by the fraction face up on the cube), to exchange any of your remaining blocks for
equivalent blocks, or to do nothing and pass the cube or dice to your partner. You may not remove a
block and trade on the same turn; you can only do one or the other. A brief homework exercise of 10
problems will be given to reinforce the fractional modeling concepts. The students will model each
operation, by drawing the shapes and showing what is being done. 6. Checking for
understanding/Closure The next day, the students will volunteer to give their answers on the smart
board. They will explain their model and how they solved the problem. 7. Closure Again, a class
discussion will follow regarding the correctness of the answers given. I will wrap up the topic by
summarizing the entire unit and allowing the class to ask any questions they may have relating to

Love And Hate In The Story Of An Hour
Love and hate are both very powerful emotions. The abundance one can feel inside when feeling them
can be overwhelming at times. I think everyone can relate to the feeling when you love someone so
much you would do anything and everything for them. We can also understand that feeling when you
can t even stand the thought of someone being in the same room of you. When we look at what
emotion is more powerful, I think hate is stronger than love. The reason being is that love can quickly
turn to hate, but hate doesn t change to love very fast, if at all. I think Othello is a great example of
this. His love for his wife, turned to hate so fast because he thought she was cheating on him. He
murdered his wife in pure cold blood which shows how hate can be such a powerful emotion that it
can actually cause someone to want to commit murder. The feeling of love and hate can change
someone, and they both can be very powerful. However, I think that hate is an emotion unlike no other
in which the feeling is very stable, in the since that it is very hard to change someone s mind about
you when they hate you.
In the short story The Story of an Hour a lady talks about the feeling after her husband passed away.
She described the feeling of being set free as she said There was a feverish triumph in her eyes, and
she carried herself unwittingly like a goddess of Victory (Schlilib, 429). This shows how someone can
fall out of love. Maybe she didn t hate him, but she definitely had some

From the surface one may look upon Australia as being the lucky county however when explored

Many sources of literature suggest that Australia is not considered the lucky country for migrants,

The new edition of My Place by Sally Morgan called Arthur Corunna s Story has been adapted for
younger readers. Arthur Corunna s comment on his own story could well stand as a comment on the
larger book: It s important, because then maybe they ll understand how hard it s been for the blackfella
to live the way he wants (Thomas, 1988). Imtinan, a 16 year old child was quoted saying, Here
[Australia] we cannot find solutions for our situation, because whenever we come up with something,
some people will say forbidden, others will say this cannot be done. In other words, we cannot do
anything (NRC, 2013).
Australia evidently is not the lucky country for the vast majority of people living there. Australia has
potential to be the lucky country for everyone living there but we choose to not embrace their cultural
values and attitudes that these marginalized groups contribute to the lucky country . These
marginalized citizens have been sidelined on the terms of development and social amenities and have
been are vulnerable to social injustices and human discomforts, hence making these groups
disadvantaged in most aspects of life. So, once again, is Australia the lucky country? Well maybe not
for all.

Water Reuse As A Water Management Initiative
Water reuse is a crucial concept in our society, water is a scarce resource and it is needed to operate
many things. Water is used in stream and in off stream (Botkin, 2014). Water has been used
extensively for irrigation and for energy production in industrial settings. Water reuse is a water
management initiative that is aimed at conserving our water resources and to allow the continual use
of this precious resource repeatedly. Reused water also known as Reclaimed water is a type of water
has been used by households, Industries ect, and is collected on a treatment site where it is cleared of
various solids, organic and inorganic pollutants, and can be released into receiving streams or be used
again. Water can be recycled after it has been used vigorously to perform various functions i.e water
can be treated and then reused, there are numerous ways in which water can wastewater can be
treated. Wastewater can be treated by Constructed wetlands which are manmade systems that use the
properties of plants, microbial diversity to treat wastewater and to remove pollutants. Manmade
wetlands function on simple principles that natural wetlands use to treat water, but constructed
wetlands are monitored by man. There are various manmade wetlands including Free water surface
constructed wetlands (FWSCW) are crucial in treating water that contains organic pollutants, it
accomplishes this by using a process of microbial breakdown of pollutants, Vymazal (2010).

Comparison Of North By Northwest And Double Indemnity
The films North by Northwest (1959) and Double Indemnity (1944), directed by Alfred Hitchcock and
Billy Wilder both have significant strides within the history of film, and both films made different in
artistic innovation. North by Northwest was a late film of the post war era, and Double Indemnity was
an early film of film noir. The objective of this paper is to compare and contrast both films within the
context of sexual content, comedy, and suspense. Film noir has distinct traits: the films are aimed at
male audiences, men are the protagonists, and women play sexually alluring roles that lead the
protagonist into danger or use them for a selfish deed. Scenes from film noir are shot in big cities, dark
alleyways, and in sleazy bars. North by North West was a late film from the post war era with film

Euripedes Hippolytus
Euripides Hippolytus
Artemis informative speech to Hippolytus not only displays the dramatic irony present throughout the
play, but also solidifies many predominant themes present during the play. This passage summarizes
the entire play as Artemis describes the plans of the characters, going on to blame Phaedra, the Nurse,
Aphrodite, and Theseus. (Halleran, 276) Through Artemis passage (Euripides, 1283 1312), the truth
about Phaedra and Hippolytus, unknown and misunderstood by Theseus, finally surfaces. As Artemis
reveals the plot to Theseus in the passage, the themes of honour and relationship between man and
god are evident. Hippolytus relationship with the goddesses Artemis and Aphrodite, along with his
honour and pride, are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Artemis recognizes Phaedra s nobility and honour, telling Theseus she came also for, ...[his] wife s
frenzied lust, or in a way, / nobility. (Euripides, 1300 1301) Artemis recognizes Phaedra s concern to
maintain her reputation, as well as her struggle to fight off the emotional attachment to Hippolytus
instilled in her by the goddess Aphrodite. Relationships between gods and mortals are vital to Greek
culture. Hippolytus, as strongly devoted as he is to the goddess Artemis, fails to show respect to the
goddess of sexuality, Aphrodite. Aphrodite initially describes Hippolytus as, an arrogant young man
who should be punished for his contempt for [Aphrodite s] world. (Halleran, 274) His constant
disrespect of the goddess results in Aphrodite s scheme to ultimately get Hippolytus killed. Although
Hippolytus has the support of the goddess Artemis, Aphrodite s scheme to have Hippolytus killed
ultimately triumphs, relating the play to Greek culture, implying the gods ultimately decide all mortals
fate. Another god who impacts the life of Hippolytus is Poseidon, father of Theseus. Poseidon grants
Theseus three wishes, and does Theseus well by fulfilling the curse Theseus wishes for his son; the
curse of death. Evidently, Poseidon, although knowing Theseus may be making a decision he will
regret, grants Theseus his wish, representing the strong relationship between Theseus and Poseidon.

Tower Of Babylon Summary
Tower of Babylon In Ted Chiang s Tower of Babylon , the story serves as a pathway for the concept of
the prominent fight between the existence of religion versus the intelligence of man in the genre of
science fiction. The Tower of Babylon targets the self righteousness and obliviousness of men when
faced with any circumstances. Chiang shows the tower itself as a devotion to God in order to get
closer to him in the story but in reality, is exemplifies man s hubris which ultimately shows the man s
lack of humility towards God. The story starts off with introducing a group of miners from Elam
hoping to achieve the goal of breaking the vault of heaven , which is the gateway to Yahweh s
paradise. Both miners from Elam and Egypt are gathered to decode this enigma, ultimately providing
a utopia for mankind. As the men gear up for a long journey, they go over the basics of traveling up
the tower in order. They have already figured out a way to go and break the vault, from growing a
forest to supply wood for the tower to growing their own crops on the towers. The author now shows
the main paradox the story is surrounded upon, they are confident and constantly uphold the
superiority of their religion, but rely on engineering rather than prayer . The story is mainly focused on
the adventure to the vault as no deity makes an appearance in the story . Specifically, man trying show
their dominance in knowledge when facing God.

Case Study Of Cholesterol
8 CHOLESTROL LVELS Cholesterol is a waxy substance that comes from two sources: your body
and food. Your body, and especially your liver, makes all the cholesterol you need and circulates it
through the blood. But cholesterol is also found in foods from animal sources, such as meat, poultry
and full fat dairy products. Your liver produces more cholesterol when you eat a diet high in saturated
and trans fats.
Excess cholesterol can form plaque between layers of artery walls, making it harder for your heart to
circulate blood. Plaque can break open and cause blood clots. If a clot blocks an artery that feeds the
brain, it causes a stroke. If it blocks an artery that feeds the heart, it causes a heart attack. View an

It s important to know the levels of cholesterol in your blood so that you and your doctor can
determine the best strategy to lower your risk.
8:1 .Personal Context Our bodies need healthy levels of cholesterol to function. Cholesterol is a fatty
substance made by the liver and distributed throughout the body. It allows our bodies to make vitamin
D and hormones, and makes up bile acids. We also get less than 25 percent of our body s cholesterol
from the foods we eat, especially animal fats.
High cholesterol means you have a lot more cholesterol in your blood than you need. Most people
who have high cholesterol don t have any obvious symptoms. A simple blood test can tell you if you
have high cholesterol. If you do have high cholesterol, dietary changes, exercise, and targeted
medications can help lower it and reduce your risk of developing heart disease. Changing some of
your lifestyle habits may also help to reduce your cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Suggestions

Theme Of Women In Mrs Dalloway
Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway tells the story of a middle aged, upper class woman, Clarissa
Dalloway, on a single June day in 1923, who plans a house party. However, Woolf s novel also traces
the story lines of multiple characters, concentrating on their mental states and internal beliefs. Woolf s
novel depicts the impact of World War One and a male dominated society on the lives of individuals,
specifically females. Through the inclusion of primary female characters, such as Clarissa and Sally,
Woolf centralizes an exploration of the emotions the female characters experience in the novel. Floral
imagery abounds to help Woolf develop the connection between female characters and their routine
experiences in English society. In Mrs. Dalloway, Woolf conveys floral imagery as a dual symbol of
both the feminine liberated identity and the systematic oppression of women in post war English
society, through an analysis of female characters. Woolf s use of floral imagery helps portray the
freedom that female characters desire and experience in their daily London lives. In the first line of the
novel, the narrator notes that, Mrs. Dalloway said she would buy the flowers herself (Woolf, 1). From
the start, Clarissa conveys her desire to experience freedom with the ability to make her own decisions
and perform simple tasks herself . She initially surpasses the low expectations of women in the
English society, using flowers as a tool to combat the oppression. In choosing to buy the

Bread and wine were some of the most important ingredients to the Ancient Greeks. They ate bread
with almost every meal. The Ancient Greeks most common breakfast was bread dipped in red wine
with fruit. They also occasionally ate bread with lunch and dinner and often had it as a midnight
snack. To support this, the Ancient Greeks drank wine with their breakfasts.

Battle Of Vimy Ridge Essay
World War I, also known as the First World War, the Great War, or the War to End All Wars was a
global war originating in Europe that lasted from July 28th 1914 to November 11th 1918. During the
war, Canada had played a very important role under the British Empire. Canadian soldiers were sent
under the British Empire to capture Vimy Ridge, (a monument) which was held by the Germans. The
Battle of Vimy Ridge is Canada s most celebrated military victory an often mythologized symbol of
the birth of Canadian national pride and awareness. The four divisions of the Canadian Corps, fought
together for the first time, attacked the ridge from April 9th to 12th 1917, and captured it from the
German army. Despite their success, more than 10,500 Canadians were killed and wounded in the
assault. Today, an iconic white memorial atop the ridge honours the 11,285 Canadians killed in France

Child Poverty in New Zealand
Child poverty is a major and complex issue that New Zealand faces today. The degree is far more
severe than the public s perception and it is a problem that we cannot afford to ignore. A combination
of factors contributes to child poverty, from individual causes at the micro level to the macro
collective government involvement. This occurs partly due to social construction and it is potentially
avoidable. The consequences can impact on both individual and to a great extent affect significantly

Socio economic factors are widely acknowledged as important determinants of poverty. If an
individual experiences adverse living conditions in childhood, majority of them will have inadequate
income and result in low socio economic status as adults (Carroll et al, 2011). Children born in poor
households have difficulty in accessing the basic needs (e.g. food, clothing, and good living
environment) and this can affect their learning ability at school, unable to focus. In other words, they
have a higher chance of dropping out of school or lower education attainment, unable to provide
appropriate qualifications when they move onto adulthood, seeking for job opportunities. These
children are finding day to day life tough, they are living in cold, damp houses, do not have warm or
rain proof clothing, their shoes are worn, and many days they go hungry (Children s Commissioner,
2012). Often this has taken place over a long period of time, impacting on their development,
behaviour and physical health furthermore limiting their potential as they grow into adults.
Unemployment or underemployment can cause significant household stressors; parent may feel
incompetent to meet the basic needs for their children, unable to make ends with financial problems.

The Downside Of Downsizing Analysis
According to the article, The Downside of Downsizing, Caela Farren, points out that companies no
longer have loyalty to their workers; therefore, it is no surprise that workers no longer look to remain
in jobs long term. Farren also believes that companies need to look beyond the bottom line and see
that it is the human factor that makes the company successful (Farren, 2008). Receiving notice that
your position will be impacted by a reduction in force, downsizing, or outsourcing, regardless of what
it is called, it has the same effect and that is a loss of employment and security. Reports of job loss in
2015 indicate that close to180,000 people have been eliminated by mass layoffs from large companies.
The news reports that there are more cuts still to come before year end. What is causing all these
people to lose their jobs? Bankruptcies, restructuring, divestitures to focus on mainstay products, and
reduction in federal budgets have all been listed as reasons for the job losses (Zillman, 2015). ... Show

Eudora Welty s Delta Wedding
The Roaring Twenties and the Jazz Age describe an era of prosperity and entertainment. With fancy
parties, cars, houses, and a multitude of wealth, people go about their day with frivolity. However, not
all were willing to accept the social changes that goes with the 1920s. One such novel that addresses
the liberal era and some reluctance is Eudora Welty s novel Delta Wedding. Beginning with Laura
McRaven travelling to visit her extended family, the Fairchilds, at their plantation in the Mississippi
Delta, she experiences the turmoil surrounding her departed mother s family: the uproar of the
oncoming wedding, the tension between her aunts, and the difficulties one must face in becoming a
Fairchild. Despite Laura playing the main role of the novel, Welty uses her minor character Robbie
Reid to explore the compact Southern family and the polarity between precedent archetypes and the
liberal woman of the 1920s. Welty uses the temporary separation of Robbie, Laura s aunt by marriage,
and her husband, George, to highlight how swiftly the Fairchilds will band together and turn against
those who are deemed outsiders. Towards the middle of the novel, Welty introduces Aunt Tempe who,
upon hearing the news of Robbie s departure, exclaims, I d like to see her! She ll get no welcome from

I.Hurts the child physically and abuses the child right
II. Destructive rather than constructive
A. Many people believe that corporal punishment is a method of encouraging students for better
academic performance with no cost.
B. Ineffective for the child s long term behavioral change
III. It affects the child s behavior psychologically
A. Makes the student violent
B. It lowers the child s self esteem

Father-Son Relationships In Death Of A Salesman By Arthur...
Great authors use characterization to further develop a character. In Arthur Miller s play, Death of a
Salesman , an old salesman named Willy pressures his eldest son, Biff, to become a successful
businessman. Through the different father son relationships, Willy s character develops. In the play,
Arthur Miller portrays father son relationships as detrimental to one s success by characterizing Willy
as desperate, demanding, and difficult. Miller s use of characterization in the play shows how the
absence of Willy s father affected him. Willy visits with his long lost brother Ben, reminiscing on their
childhood. Willy, knowing that his father left his family when he was only a young boy, becomes
obsessed with the idea of his father. Willy s father abandoned his family when Ben and Willy were
children and all Willy remembers is a man with a big beard, and I was in Mamma s lap, sitting around
a fire, and some kind of high music (203). Even though his father left, Willy has a positive memory of
his father, idolizing him. Through Willy s idolization of his dad, he begins to develop false hope of
having a relationship with his dad. Begging Ben to please tell about dad , Willy becomes characterized
as someone who obsesses with the past and unable to remain in the present (203). After Willy begs
Ben to tell him more about their dad, Ben continues to tell him about the admirable characteristics of

the idea of growing up and becoming a phony himself.
Change is inevitable and is a constant phase that Holden cannot conceptualize. Holden s fear of
change can be exemplified by the Museum of Natural History. Like the museum, he wants everything
to be unchanging and as simple as possible. He talks about the immutable statues by saying, Certain
things they should stay the way they are... I know it s impossible, but it s too bad anyway (Salinger

of childhood innocence. The only thing he can talk about without contempt is kids. Allie, his deceased
brother, is continuously mentioned in the book, as well as the many interactions Holden has with
Phoebe. Although he is continuously deriding others around him, he humbly admits to his sister that
the only thing he could envision doing is saving kids, What I have to do I have to catch everybody if

Healthcare clinics are under a great deal of pressure to reduce costs and improve quality of service. In
recent years, healthcare organizations have concentrated on preventive medicine practices and have
tried to reduce the length of time that patients stay in a hospital. Outpatient services have gradually

As a result of this, when one patient takes longer to process, the Arrival Queue becomes a bottleneck.
Patients begin to stack up behind one another while they wait for the other patients to be processed.
This is point in the process that needs improvement. By fixing the time it takes to process each patient
and removing or reordering certain steps, the cycle time could be reduced and the bottleneck
eliminated.
Work Process Improvement
As stated earlier, the cost for health care is rising for both employers and employees; therefore, both
employers and employees are seeking for medical groups that provide systems of very well
coordinated care. Coordinating care creates significant advantages for patient by delivering high
quality care efficiently, so that patients get the most for their health care dollars. When services are
integrated and carefully designed across the stream of care, this thoughtfulness up front eliminates
duplication of processes and inappropriate services. Patients, employers and medical groups benefit in
terms of better health and streamlined costs associated with the care.
Survey after survey suggest that the biggest frustrations for patients are:
1. Appointment access
2. Phone Access
3. Getting information about their test results
4. Understanding how to use medical group systems (referrals, eligibility, business department, etc.)

Evaluating Scientific Paradigms to Predict the Credibility of Medieval Science
Abstract
Science is the fundamental backbone to understanding how the world works. From the start of historic
civilizations to modern era, science has evolved drastically and continues to change based off of pre
existing notions formulated by pre existing notions to those. This cycle of taking ideas that have been
previously established and creating new and falsifiable hypotheses revolve around scientific
paradigms. These scientific paradigms provide accepted models that give scientists a starting point,

Using the scientific method helps prove previous ideas to be true by creating falsifiable hypotheses,
and not being able to prove them false. Thusly, allowing scientists to accept the Null Hypothesis ,
which states that there is no correlation between your results and hypothesis. Furthermore, referring to
the Null Hypothesis attempts to give experimental data meaning. If experimental results cannot prove
something false, and correlates with the subject at hand, you would reject the Null Hypothesis .
Methods
We can test the fallacy of folk magic by executing the following experiment. We hypothesized that,
because there are five total cards, each representing one different symbol, the participant will correctly

twenty five different students and correlated the data to folk magic s consistency. We had students

card. Not only did we test the credibility of folk magic, but we conducted a similar experiment with
respect to Astrology s fallacy. We obtained data from a wide variety of students with different

Examine and Assess How Political Order Is Made and Repaired
Examine and assess how political order is made and repaired.
In this TMA I will examine and assess how political order is made mainly through the state. In order
to create, maintain and repair political order, the state needs authority from its citizens to do so and
this authority needs to be legitimate. Legitimacy refers to a belief in the states rightness, its right to
rule or the idea that its authority is proper. I will then explain how today, legitimacy is closely linked
to democracy and it is through free and fair elections that the state receives legitimacy. The degree to
which individuals legitimise the state is varied and individuals or groups of people can also engage
critically with the state.
Creating political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One way citizens can legitimise their relationship with the state is through citizenship ceremonies
however most citizens do not attend such ceremonies.
Many of the everyday practises and discourses of the state, its discourses, its symbols and the ways in
which state actors and institutions represent themselves to the people, are involved in the process of
legitimation; that is to say, the states claim of legitimacy from its citizens. So through peoples
everyday practises and activities like paying taxes or taking the car for an MOT individuals are
involved in the making and remaking of the state. This is another way through which people legitimise
the state.
However, one of the main ways individuals express their acceptance or rejection of the state is through
the ballot box. Elections provide a means for people to question and reflect on this or that government
policy, the adequacy of this or that government agency, or the talents and policies of this or that party,
candidate or official. Today we would see free and fair democratic elections as the main, if not the
only, reasonable indicator of whether people have given express consent to those who hold state
derived power over them.
Its possible to see that state legitimacy is closely linked to democracy. This is because through
democracy the state claims legitimacy to rule over people in a certain territory. Democracy is a form
of political order few dare to oppose (Sen) even if they

Reflection About Discipleship Relationship
Throughout the past few months, the Lord blessed me with the opportunity to begin discipleship

Beyond discipling someone, I also had the blessing and joy of getting to know my aunt better and

her my whole life thus we already had a decent connection, but I wasn t prepared for development I
would experience throughout this relationship. Being as we re family, we easily connected from the

  • 2. The Pros And Cons Of Sex Trafficking In 2000, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, or TVPA, was passed to identify severe forms of human trafficking, create harsh criminal penalties for offenders and provide support for victims. The TVPA defines sex trafficking as a situation in which a commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such act has not attained 18 years of age ( How Porn Fuels Sex Trafficking ). The inclusion of the word coercion means that a commercial sex act can be classified as sex trafficking as long as a victim is coerced or intimidated. The organization Fight the New Drug identifies that there are often instances in the porn industry where the actor or actress is threatened with lawsuits or charges ( How Porn Fuels Sex Trafficking ). Human trafficking isn t the only illegal industry fueled by sexual violence and exploitation. The wide spread availability of cameras in devices such as portable cameras and cell phones has made it easier to take secret recordings of another s intimate body parts and other sexually explicit material without the individuals consent or knowledge. Growing internet access has facilitated the nonconsensual distribution of those images but the criminal laws in the United States have not stayed up to date with these developments. Because of this, victims of revenge porn and nonconsensual pornography do not have adequate means to seek justice. In a study conducted by Cynthia Najdowski at the University ... • 4. Lady Bird Johnson, And Jacqueline Kennedy The first lady is an unpaid public servant elected by one person her husband. Lady Bird Johnson. First ladies tend to be looked upon as simply public figures or as support for the president. Not many recognize the sacrifice first ladies make for their country, or the work they have been volunteered to carry out. Their jobs are much more than living in the White House, selecting the proper china for certain company, or memorizing the names of the many wives of certain foreign leaders. Much on the contrary, the first lady has political significance and each has made their mark on society. Five examples are first ladies Hillary Rodham Clinton, Eleanor Roosevelt, Rosalynn Carter, Claudia (Lady Bird) Johnson, and Jacqueline Kennedy. Former first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton is known throughout the world for the astounding things she has accomplished, not only in the White House, but out. • 5. Death Comes Swift Essay Death comes swift. I lied awake in bed, unsure of what would happen to me now that Nan was dead. She was all I had for the last 16 years, and while she wasn t accepting of who, what, I am... I know she still had some love for me. My thoughts swirled in my head much as they had for the past week: where will I go? , What if they find out about me? , What if I am discovered? I knew from my grandmother that something terrible would happen if anyone discovered my... abilities. By the age of nine I had been aloof and withdrawn in school, fearful that I might reveal myself to someone. She forced me to church with her, begging the lord to extract my devil s gifts as she called them. I had one saving grace with my abilities, she never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I rolled the cheap rental fabric of the sleeve between my fingers before walking to my dresser and pulling out my underwear. I grabbed a pair of plain boxers from the front and looked down at the boring pattern. Might as well be a little different I muttered, as i pulled the old drawer all the way out, feeling around for the pair of fitted boxer briefs I had secretly gotten for myself. The pale blue went well with my pale skin, the spunky girl at the store said so herself. It was one of the few acts of rebellion I had done up to that point. I still remembered how nervous I was going into the alternative store in the local mall, I shook as I looked at all the crude jokes and sexual things inside. She came up out of nowhere and asked if I needed any help. I stammered out No, I I m alright thanks. She must have known I was nervous because she just smirked and said Here let s find you a souvenir. I only nodded and followed her around the store as she asked me about what I liked, what I was into, etc. I couldn t help but stair at her amazingly colored hair, it shimmered in the dim light like a peacocks feathers; radiating out from a vibrant green, to blue, and purple. As we passed by the sexy underwear section of the story, my eyes landed on the pair of underwear. Right away she noticed and said Great choice! I bet he ll love them with a wink. • 6. Reaction Paper On Perfume Perfume is mixture of fragrant aroma compounds or essential oils, the first evidence of the use of perfume by mankind dates back to the very old Egyptian civilizations around 2400 BC1. Throughout the ages, fragrances have become gradually more essential and accessible. Nowadays, the perfume business is a billion dollar industry 2. The companies also synthesize and trade the individual raw materials used in perfumes, the perfume stocks are relatively unknown companies that create and supply perfumes according to the wishes of their customers. The perfume raw materials are generally complex mixtures of synthetic or natural (e.g. essential oils) organic compounds, the fortitude of the composition of an unknown perfume, the so called perfume formulation process, is not an easy task. Apart from the olfactive expertise of the perfumers, it also wants advanced analytical tools. Hence, 1 OU/m3 is the bench mark of the odorant concentration scale3. • 7. Spiderman Hero Spider Man is one of my favorite heroes of all time. Spider Man was a teenager named Peter Parker with spider like abilities. Peter visited a laboratory to see a famous doctor and was bit by a spider that gave him superpowers. Peter was given powers such as super strength, fast reflexes and the ability to shoot webs from his hands. There are four different movies of Spider Man fighting villains. My favorite villain that Spider Man faced was Doctor Octopus. Doctor Octopus was an intelligent mad scientist (Otto Octavius), who built four, powerful mechanical appendages and attached the appendages to himself. In Spider Man 2, Doctor Octopus would rob banks so that he can buy expensive equipment for his lab. The equipment Doctor Octopus bought resembles how much of a genius he desired to be. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Doctor Octopus tried to take money from banks, Spider Man always showed up to stop him from doing so. Doctor Octopus believed that since Spiderman continuously tried to stop him from robbing banks, he didn t want to see Doctor Octopus to succeed. Doctor Octopus vowed that the next time Spider Man tried to stop him from robbing banks, he would kill Spider Man. Doctor Octopus believed that his four mechanical appendages was enough to stop Spider Man, but he was unsuccessful in doing so. Spider Man ripped off the four mechanical appendages and locked him in jail. Doctor Octopus is one of many villains Spider Man had to fight. Papa John s Pizza And Economies Of Scope Essay PAPA JOHN S PIZZAAND ECONOMIES OF SCOPE 1 Papa John s Pizza and Economies of Scope MGT407, Unit 4 Patten University PAPA JOHN S PIZZAAND ECONOMIES OF SCOPE 2 Papa John s Pizza was founded in 1984 by John Schnatter, whose goal was to make high quality pizzas and deliver them something unusual back then. This company is typically ranked currently as the third largest national pizza chain, with franchises expanding outside of the United States. When a business is expanding, one thing worthwhile to study is economies of scope, in order to see why and how the expansion happened in looking at daily operations and average costs to produce these fine pizzas. An economy of scope is a proportionate saving gained by producing two or more distinct goods when the cost of doing it is less than the cost of producing each good separately. Economies of scope (it s used in the plural) focus on the fact that the average total cost of production decreases as a result of increasing the number of different but compatible goods produced. In other words, as the company increases the number of items it offers at very little extra cost to itself, the average cost to produce each item drops, making all the items more affordable. A study of the menu in a Papa John s restaurant demonstrates how economies of scope work. Mr. Schnatter (Papa John, as he calls himself in his commercials) started the business model with a few pizzas that he made in the broom closet of his father s bar. He started with ... Southwest Airlines And The Airline Industry Southwest Airlines, a cost leader in the airline industry, was faced with an important decision on whether or not to enter LaGuardia Airport s expensive, heavily regulated and congested market. How does a leader airline in discount airfare, continue to expand into high traffic markets without compromising its core strategies and disrupting its existing network? Founded in 1967, Southwest entered the airline industry at a time when interstate travel was heavily regulated by the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB).10 Some of those regulations imposed by CAB include: airlines were not allowed to discount fares even when their planes were at half capacity, airlines were not able to add new routes or remove old routes, and new carriers were not allowed to enter the interstate airline travel.10 Due to these regulations on the interstate market and seeing the success of intrastate carriers, such as Pan Southwest Airlines (PSA) and Air Cal, Southwest entered the intrastate market where CAB regulations did not apply.[10] [1] Southwest knew from early on that it had to provide considerably lower fares to stave off the competition from other airlines and was planning to charge fares that were at least 60% lower than the average coach fare .1 From the words of Colleen Barrett, We knew that we were going to have to have substantially lower fares on day one of our operation than were currently being charged because that was our only chance of winning a niche in the business .1 Southwest not ... • 13. Love And Hate In The Story Of An Hour Love and hate are both very powerful emotions. The abundance one can feel inside when feeling them can be overwhelming at times. I think everyone can relate to the feeling when you love someone so much you would do anything and everything for them. We can also understand that feeling when you can t even stand the thought of someone being in the same room of you. When we look at what emotion is more powerful, I think hate is stronger than love. The reason being is that love can quickly turn to hate, but hate doesn t change to love very fast, if at all. I think Othello is a great example of this. His love for his wife, turned to hate so fast because he thought she was cheating on him. He murdered his wife in pure cold blood which shows how hate can be such a powerful emotion that it can actually cause someone to want to commit murder. The feeling of love and hate can change someone, and they both can be very powerful. However, I think that hate is an emotion unlike no other in which the feeling is very stable, in the since that it is very hard to change someone s mind about you when they hate you. In the short story The Story of an Hour a lady talks about the feeling after her husband passed away. She described the feeling of being set free as she said There was a feverish triumph in her eyes, and she carried herself unwittingly like a goddess of Victory (Schlilib, 429). Woolf s novel depicts the impact of World War One and a male dominated society on the lives of individuals, specifically females. The four divisions of the Canadian Corps, fought together for the first time, attacked the ridge from April 9th to 12th 1917, and captured it from the German army. Despite their success, more than 10,500 Canadians were killed and wounded in the assault. Today, an iconic white memorial atop the ridge honours the 11,285 Canadians killed in France throughout the war who have no known graves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gavrilo Princip wanted the Austro Hungarian Empire out of Bosnia. To me, the cause of the war was mainly nationalism and alliances. While Archduke Franz Ferdinand s murder was the immediate cause for the declarations of war, a patchwork of mutual defence alliances were made throughout Europe meaning, if one country was attacked, another was likely to defend them. Socio economic factors are widely acknowledged as important determinants of poverty. If an individual experiences adverse living conditions in childhood, majority of them will have inadequate income and result in low socio economic status as adults (Carroll et al, 2011). Children born in poor households have difficulty in accessing the basic needs (e.g. food, clothing, and good living environment) and this can affect their learning ability at school, unable to focus. In other words, they have a higher chance of dropping out of school or lower education attainment, unable to provide appropriate qualifications when they move onto adulthood, seeking for job opportunities. These children are finding day to day life tough, they are living in cold, damp houses, do not have warm or rain proof clothing, their shoes are worn, and many days they go hungry (Children s Commissioner, 2012). Often this has taken place over a long period of time, impacting on their development, behaviour and physical health furthermore limiting their potential as they grow into adults. With fancy parties, cars, houses, and a multitude of wealth, people go about their day with frivolity. However, not all were willing to accept the social changes that goes with the 1920s. One such novel that addresses the liberal era and some reluctance is Eudora Welty s novel Delta Wedding. Beginning with Laura McRaven travelling to visit her extended family, the Fairchilds, at their plantation in the Mississippi Delta, she experiences the turmoil surrounding her departed mother s family: the uproar of the oncoming wedding, the tension between her aunts, and the difficulties one must face in becoming a Fairchild. Despite Laura playing the main role of the novel, Welty uses her minor character Robbie Reid to explore the compact Southern family and the polarity between precedent archetypes and the liberal woman of the 1920s. Welty uses the temporary separation of Robbie, Laura s aunt by marriage, and her husband, George, to highlight how swiftly the Fairchilds will band together and turn against those who are deemed outsiders. Towards the middle of the novel, Welty introduces Aunt Tempe who, upon hearing the news of Robbie s departure, exclaims, I d like to see her! Evaluating Scientific Paradigms to Predict the Credibility of Medieval Science Abstract Science is the fundamental backbone to understanding how the world works. From the start of historic civilizations to modern era, science has evolved drastically and continues to change based off of pre existing notions formulated by pre existing notions to those. This cycle of taking ideas that have been previously established and creating new and falsifiable hypotheses revolve around scientific paradigms. These scientific paradigms provide accepted models that give scientists a starting point, per se, for further research and progression beyond that point. Using the scientific method helps prove previous ideas to be true by creating falsifiable hypotheses, and not being able to prove them false. Thusly, allowing scientists to accept the Null Hypothesis , which states that there is no correlation between your results and hypothesis. Furthermore, referring to the Null Hypothesis attempts to give experimental data meaning. If experimental results cannot prove something false, and correlates with the subject at hand, you would reject the Null Hypothesis . Methods We can test the fallacy of folk magic by executing the following experiment. We hypothesized that, because there are five total cards, each representing one different symbol, the participant will correctly guess five of the twenty five cards, about twenty percent by chance. Below this number says the student has no psychic ability, above says otherwise . To test this hypothesis, we collected data from twenty five different students and correlated the data to folk magic s consistency. We had students draw twenty five cards, one card at a time, and gave them the chance to correctly name each drawn card. Not only did we test the credibility of folk magic, but we conducted a similar experiment with respect to Astrology s fallacy. In this TMA I will examine and assess how political order is made mainly through the state. In order to create, maintain and repair political order, the state needs authority from its citizens to do so and this authority needs to be legitimate. Legitimacy refers to a belief in the states rightness, its right to rule or the idea that its authority is proper. I will then explain how today, legitimacy is closely linked to democracy and it is through free and fair elections that the state receives legitimacy. The degree to which individuals legitimise the state is varied and individuals or groups of people can also engage critically with the state. Creating political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One way citizens can legitimise their relationship with the state is through citizenship ceremonies however most citizens do not attend such ceremonies. Many of the everyday practises and discourses of the state, its discourses, its symbols and the ways in which state actors and institutions represent themselves to the people, are involved in the process of legitimation; that is to say, the states claim of legitimacy from its citizens. So through peoples everyday practises and activities like paying taxes or taking the car for an MOT individuals are involved in the making and remaking of the state. This is another way through which people legitimise the state. However, one of the main ways individuals express their acceptance or rejection of the state is through the ballot box. Elections provide a means for people to question and reflect on this or that government policy, the adequacy of this or that government agency, or the talents and policies of this or that party, candidate or official. Today we would see free and fair democratic elections as the main, if not the only, reasonable indicator of whether people have given express consent to those who hold state derived power over them. Its possible to see that state legitimacy is closely linked to democracy. This is because through democracy the state claims legitimacy to rule over people in a certain territory.
