Confidentiality Debate
Debate
Imagine being backed into a corner and your opponent is closing ground. Right now you re sweating
trying to think of how you can escape. You have no weapons, no hands, you have nothing but your
mouth. Would you be successful or just another victim, the most likely scenario is the ladder. Today s
generation is quick to use violence to resolve issues instead of using their words, and i am inclined to
believe that it has to do with the fact that they do not know how to have a civilized debate. This is
where debate comes into play, debate is when you argue against an opponent trying to prove that your
right and your opponent is wrong. I have been in debate almost my entire highschool term and i can
honestly say that debate has gotten me out of many sticky situations for the simple fact i knew how to
talk to someone and get my point across. I remember when i was in a debate and the topic was, is
Urban Transit a necessity in rundown neighborhoods. I was on the affirmative side, the side which is
for the plan and my opponent asked would I be willing to ride the bus with convicts and criminals.
Now everyone s initial answer should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Topicality debate is when the debate goes from facts to definitions this is by far the hardest form of
debate because every word comes into play and you have to know the right definition I can think of
many times where I completely beat my opponent on the definitions of there, they re or their. You
would be surprised how many people don t know the difference. Now you re probably thinking what
does that have to do with arguing but the truth is it has everything to do with it. If you don t know the
right definitions how can you even argue someone. It s like trying to tell someone that the sky is blue
we might know it s blue but if they truly believe it s a different color then there is no

Texas Tech And The College Of Human Sciences
Texas Tech is a large University located in Lubbock Texas and is home to many faculty members.
Because it is so big we, decided that focusing on one college, the college for human sciences, for the
semester is the best way to ensure we give our best work out there, in hopes of in the future being able
to help other colleges at Texas Tech University. The college of Human Sciences has a total of one
hundred and twenty eight faculty members according the fall 2015 faculty census on the Texas Tech
website (Faculty Head Count). They also break this number down by ethnicity. There majority of the
faculty population is White Non Hispanic people accounting for ninety nine out of the one hundred
twenty eight people (Faculty Head Count). The least was Black Non Hispanic, accounting for only
two (Faculty Head Count). We hope to get as many ethnicities to participate in this program to be able
to study trends in the specific ethnicity and then to compare and contrast with others (Faculty Head
Count). Now to further our knowledge we took to online resources. Reading what other people
thought effective time management skills helped us design a plan that could be formed to fit the needs
of the individual. Being healthy does not just mean that one is in shape and eats right. Being healthy is
an all around healthy body, as well as mind. We believe if the faculty is able to form a habit to better
scheduling their school schedule, they will be able to be more productive due to an increase on

Motivations of Pathological Gamblers
Based on information from the National Opinion Research Center (NORC), the National Gambling
Impact Study Commission (NGISC) states that there are two and a half million individuals who fall
into a state defined as a pathological gambler, another three million are considered problem gamblers,
and roughly fifteen million more could be considered at risk (NORC, 1999). A pathological gambler is
one who has a severe uncontrollable urge to gamble despite harmful negative consequences or a desire
to stop. This project proposes to address the need to keep a casino patron from developing a
pathological or compulsive gambling problem. The project will entail investigating the driving factors
for a person gambling themselves into problems and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The trail an individual takes to pathological gambling can essentially be defined as a psychological
imbalance or emersion into an alternate world. Natasha Dow Schull, a cultural anthropologist, shows
this alternate world emersion in her recent book on compulsive gambling and the addictive nature of
slot machines. She describes these normally reserved individuals who become absorbed in gambling
as entering a trancelike state she references as the machine zone. This machine zone is the essence of
an addictive gamblers fault. Schull describes the individuals as having their personal needs, social
worries, and bodily awareness fade (Schull, 2008). Unlike other addictions, pathological or problem
gamblers are not controlled by a chemical or substance. They are consumed by a psychological need
to gamble. That is why by developing an information structure that will monitor this behavior,
preventive measures can be implemented to control these psychological emersions.
Current treatment of individuals who experience gambling addiction is performed by counselors with
extensive training in this area. These counselors specialize in neurosciences and family therapy, since
the addicted individual needs to rekindle their normal state of mind as well as their personal
relationships with others. When a gambler has been committed to therapy the counselor will focus
help based on the individual s personal needs and necessary treatment plan. The

Prelude To Bruise Essay
Prelude to Bruise by Saeed Jones is a poetry book that follows a man struggling to be accepted in a
homophobic society. The author discusses many themes from father and son relationships to violence.
The word bruise within the title of the book lets the reader know some type of hurt has happened. A
theme that has continued throughout the book has been violence from within the speaker s home,
sexual relationships, and his historical background. Many times experiencing violence within one s
home can lead to the acceptance of abuse in one s personal life. The speaker is in a room watching his
father burn his belonging, he describes the scene: Thin streams of kerosene when night throws itself
against the wall, when Nina Simone sings in the next room without her body and I m against the wall,
bruised but out of mine: dream headed with my corset still on, stays slightly less tight, bones against
bones, broken glass on the floor, dance steps for a waltz with no partner. Father in my room looking

But if there was no one in the room to dance with someone could have been violent toward the
speaker verbally. It is clear that the speaker is crossed dressed when his father enters the room. The
author uses the words sissy clothes by the father, seeing his son in women s clothes, he could have
been heartbroken to see and know his son wants to be a homosexual. Burning the clothes was a way to
show his son that a man dressed as a woman was not allowed in his home. Burning the clothes could
have also been the father s way of bruising his son trying to change his thinking pattern and peculiar
identity. The speaker s father may have caused him to experience emotional violence by burning his

firefighting), but do not usually have the ability to deal with underlying inefficiencies in the system as
designed. Such underlying inefficiencies Juran calls chronic waste.

Chapter 2: His life and works.
Ludwig van Beethoven was born in the second half of the 18th century when the age of curiosity was
prominent. Society at the time was beginning to question many old beliefs, customs, and religions.
There were advances in astronomy, geography and chemistry, proving that the world was ready for a
revolution of innovation and excitement.
Beethoven was born on December 17, 1770 in Bonn, Germany. Bonn was a pleasant city. It was very
old and very rich in tradition. Its location was on the western bank of the Rhine River which offered
protection form intruders.(Marek, 26 7) It was a close knit community and there was a good balance
between business and recreation. It may be safe to say that some of
Beethoven amp;#8217;s compassion was sparked by his environment of fertile resources that the town
of Bonn provided.

Disadvantages Of Gonorrhoea
Gonorrhoea are fastidious gram negative, facultative, intracellular and typically appear in pairs
(diplococci), in the shape of coffee beans. Among various species of Neisseria that colonize humans,
only N. gonorrhoeae is clinically important responsible for transmission through sexual contact (Elias
J et al., 2011).They are non motile, aerobic, capnophilic, non sporulating, possess pilli to adhere the
surfaces of mucous membrane of warm blooded hosts (Janda Wet et al., 2007). The type IV pili (Biais
N et al., 2008) operate mechanically similar to a grappling hook, which extend and attach to a
substrate that signals the pilus to retract, dragging the cell forward. N. gonorrhoeae are able to pull
100,000 times their own weight, and it has been claimed that the pili used to do so is the strongest

Copyright And Copyright Infringement Trials
Intellectual properties are anything that is created by the mind. This includes inventions, designs,
books, etc. Many people protect their intellectual by copyrighting their work. Copyrights are
trademarks or patents, and give the owners of the work the right to claim their work and protect it
from theft. Use or reference of famous work is permitted when it is for transformative or limited use.
This work be considered fair use and many copyright infringement trials have been dismissed because
of this. Copyrights are an important tool to ensure that copyrighted work that is referenced mentions
the original inventor, rather than stealing their invention and claiming it as their own.

Trademark is a sign, design, or expression used in order to set a business apart. Trademarks serves as
two primary functions. The first is to provide protection to manufactures and traders by not allowing
unfair competition. It also protects customers from impersonations. Trademarks today are governed on
state and federal level. Trademarks today are considered property, meaning that trademarks can be
sold, inherited, or even leased as long as it is not the intent to fool the customer.

Carnegie, the Selfish Philanthropist
Andrew Carnegie, The Selfish Philanthropist
Andrew Carnegie, born on November 25, 1835, was a Scottish philanthropist who was one of the
richest men in America in the 1900 s. I completely agree with Carnegie s opinion of how the rich
should donate their money toward the good of mankind before they die, but disagree with his actions
toward his workers . He started working in a cotton mill making $1.20 a week only to upgrade to
$2.20 working as a messenger boy. He eventually taught himself telegraphy and worked as Thomas A.
Scott s assistant for $35 a month. He moved on to investing, with the help from his mentor Scott, in
the Woodruff Sleeping Car Company and several small iron mills and factories. He was so successful

This also prevents the family member or the heirs of the inheritance to be spoiled. Carnegie had a
great point for doing this. For some strange reason, Carnegie cut the wages of his steel workers while
at the same time putting money toward public programs that would benefit mankind. He even stated
that he could put more use of that money than the workers ever could, which is ridiculously egotistical
and rude. By not giving his workers a fair wage, he was hurting the economy. Our economy is based
off of consumers spending their money. In my honest opinion, I think Carnegie is a selfish attention
seeking mastermind. He seems very sensitive to what other people think of him. Don t get me wrong,
he sounds like a nice, caring, and independent man. His intentions though, are outweighed by the
means and basis for his profit: unfair and underpaid labor. The money that he made from his steel
factory was ironically against his giving attitude that he was trying to generate. I think that after he
realized that he would never have to worry about his financial situation ever again, he focused on
becoming a public figure and cared about the public opinion of himself. An example to prove this
would be how he reacted to the steel strikes. While he was visiting Scotland, his next in command
(Henry Clay Frick) replaced all of the strikers with immigrants. This action is said to have caused the
death of 10 men. Carnegie took the

Franchising Is A Long Term Essay
Nowadays, franchising is one of the easiest ways to start a business. Franchising is defined as a long
term, continuing business relationship wherein for consideration, the franchisor grants to the franchise
a licensed right, subject to agreed requirements and restrictions, to condusct business utilising the
trade and/or service marks of the franchisor and also provides to the franchisee advice and assistance
in organising, merchandising, and managing the business conducted to the licensee 1. The
company granting these rights in deemed the franchisor, the receiver of these rights the franchisee, and
the right is defined as the franchise. The franchiser owns a trademark or brand, which he (or she)
agrees to allow the franchisee to use for a fee (often an original purchase price plus a percentage of
sales). The franchiser provides the franchisee with assistance (financial, choice of site, and so on) in
setting up their operation, and then maintains continuing control over various aspects of the franchisee
s business; for example, via the supply of products, discussion of their marketing plans and/or
centralized staff training 2.
The franchising arrangement may be viewed as an agency relationship in which the franchisor
(principal) is reliant upon franchisees (agents) to undertake actions on their behalf 3. Franchising
organizations differ from other business, based on three important points 4 are:
1. Geographic dispersal of organizations units

Sensitive Periods in Early Development Essay examples
Sensitive Periods in Early Development From the moment of conception to the moment we are born
and grow into adulthood, the timing of even the first beginning of our life journey is crucial. Even the
timing of fertilization can be too soon or too late in which will cause the organism to be destroyed.
(The Development of Children, 2nd ed). The mother carrying a baby has a responsibility to ensure
enough nutrition is supplied for the rapid growth of the organism. However it is also crucial that the
fetus also plays a part to survive, by being active and moving to develop. Hamburger, 1975 illustration

The unwanted children born weighed less at birth and needed more medical care even though the
mothers were judged to be in good health. Fewer of the children were breast fed, they had more
difficulties in school, and they were referred for psychiatric help more often as teenagers. Also that by
the time they had reached adulthood, many were more likely to have antisocial behavior problems. So
here we can see from this research that stress also plays a vital role of a healthy developing baby.
Some fact (Yarrow, 1961, as cited in Early Experience, 1967) states that also the first few years of life
have crucial effects upon later development and adult characteristics and that the significance of early
infantile experience for later life development has been repeated so frequently and so seriously that the
general effectiveness of this declaration is now almost unchallenged. Bowlby, 1951, (as cited in Early
Experience, 1967) quotes that the prolonged deprivation of the young child of maternal care may have
grave and far reaching effects in his character and so on the whole of his future life. In comparison to
this J.B. Watson (1928) also felt passionately about the first two years of a Childs life. He believed

Impact Of The Monroe Doctrine Dbq
The only policy enacted by James Monroe in 1823 is referred to as the Monroe Doctrine and serves as
a symbol of early American nationalism. In Document A, the Monroe Doctrine is being demonstrated
by an invisible border that separates the Western Hemisphere from the Eastern Hemisphere and a stop
sign place on the Western side. The European region states , What do you mean off limits? , which
shows how they did not approve of the doctrine that keeps them from obstructing the expansion of the
U.S. on its Western side. In Document B, two flower pots are illustrating nationalism. One flower pot
is smiling while stating , Wow! I m so glad I was born in this pot and not that pot! , albeit the other

Persuasive Essay On Boxing
Boxing has elements to it that teaches you more about fighting than you think is possible. People who
have never tried it think that because boxing only involves using the hands/fists without any kicking
or other moves that it s not real fighting. Those who have tried boxing know that it s tough sport that
involves strict training and tough competition. It s genuine athletics that requires raw speed, stamina,
and power. Your reflexed in boxing need to be quick and that involves fast reaction time on the part of
the boxer.
All types of fighters from mixed martial arts should learn to box because they will benefit from it.
Even if the punches and techniques aren t interesting to you, it s still a good sport to learn and master.
It will improve your athletic performance, speed, stamina, and your reflexes and reaction time. It

Speedy Reflexes are important in boxing. Boxing matches are faster paced than other fighting/combat
sports. The opponents are closer in proximity with both attacking and defending at the same time. You

great for hand to hand, but what about with weapons or kicking? The techniques used in boxing
improve your reaction time and reflexes, which helps you be faster when you need to be, and teaches
you how to use your hands when you re without a weapon or unable to kick.
2. Master the Art of Slickness by learning to box. You can master the art of slickness known as the
sweet science of boxing. Art + Efficiency = Slickness. That s the equation. Being slick helps you
overwhelm and shutdown your opponent. While it s a rare occurrence, slickness looks like a beat

Art And Art
What is Art? Art is the aesthetic experiences we encounter when we are exposed to new responses of
sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell (McGraw 2013). According to McGraw no society has lived
without some form of art in human history. (2013) We have the ability to create images that have
evolved and find a new relationship with each one. Art is composed of meaningfulness in every
aspect, from the artist perspective. The symbolism of art changes from era to era. Art is created by
individuals who have acquired traits of; sensitivity, flexibility, originality, playfulness, productivity,
fluency, analytical and organizational skills (McGraw 2013). We will later elaborate on these traits
individually through pieces of art. The shift of cultures has impacted the trait of art, through eras of
history, which impact artist mindset and modern culture.
The meaning of Art to me personally is something that you should have a connection with and or
understanding of what the artist is talking about by looking at the painting or drawing. The quality,
production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or
of more than ordinary . (dictionary) Referring to our textbook Living with Art refers to as Art being
simplified, fragmented and distorted. With that being said Art is needed to be natural and stylized in it
s own unique way.
In Art there are eras that had started in the BC s, just like stone age had started in

Tariff and Non-Tariff Barriers
International Trade is the branch of economics concerned with the exchange of goods and services
with foreign countries. In the context of globalization, International trade has become an even more
important topic now that so many countries have begun to move from state run to market driven
economies. Tariff and non tariff barriers play a large part in this process.
Tariff Barriers
Tariffs are among the oldest forms of government economic intervention. They are most commonly
used as taxes on imports into a country or region. They are put into practice for two clear economic
purposes. They provide revenue for the government and they improve economic returns to firms and
suppliers to domestic industries that face competition from foreign ... Show more content on

Two common examples are quotas and counter trade, which even though they are considered non
tariff barriers, have the same effect as a tariff, but are only imposed in specific circumstances. Some
non tariff trade barriers are explicitly permitted in very limited circumstances, when they are deemed
necessary to protect health, safety, or sanitation, or to protect natural resources.
Non tariff barriers to trade can be:
* State subsidies, procurement, trading, and ownership.
* National regulations on health, safety, employment.
* Product classification.
* Quotas.
* Foreign Exchange: controls and multiplicity.
* Over elaborate or inadequate infrastructure.
* Buy national policy.
* Intellectual property laws (patents and copyrights).
* Bribery and corruption.
* Unfair customs procedures. (Wikipedia.com, 2005B)
Globalization
A critical shift is occurring in the world economy. The world is moving quickly away from a world in
which national economies are mostly reliant on goods from within their own country; stay isolated
from each other by barriers trade across national borders, and by national differences in government
regulation, culture, and business systems. It is moving toward a world where barriers to trade across
national borders are dropping, perceived distance is shrinking due to advances in transportation and
telecommunications technology, and national economies are

Confucianism, Daoism, And Legalism In Evergreen Middle School
Introduction Confucius once said, oppressive government is fiercer and more feared than a tiger
(Source #2.) Confucianism is one of the three main Chinese philosophies created during the warring
states period, a time when rulers fought others for more power and land. Another philosophy created
during the same period was Daoism. Daoism was created by Laozi. Some Daoism beliefs include that
harmony with nature leads to peace and happiness and that one should accept whatever happens. The
other main Chinese philosophy was Legalism. Per http://www.ancient.eu/Legalism, Legalism in
ancient China was a philosophical belief that human beings are more inclined to do wrong that right
because they are motivated entirely by self interest. In addition, Legalism governments have a set of
laws with strict punishments if you disobey them. Out of the three, Confucianism has the most
benefits and would be best to be used to operate Evergreen Middle School.

For example, per Source #1, Confucius s values included respecting tradition, reverence for ancestors,
and he honored scholars. Since Confucius had these values, they are part of Confucianism beliefs.
With these values, students at Evergreen Middle School would respect their teachers and traditions at
Evergreen. To add on, Confucianism teaches good character. For example, per Source #2, Confucius s
goal was to make people better in their lifetime. He was also teaching a system of moral conduct.
Having Confucianism at Evergreen Middle School will inspire students to have attitudes that are full

Forced Sterilization And Its Effects On Society
Shortly after the turn of the century, nearly two thirds of states in America enacted laws that required
sterilization of various criminals, mentally ill, epileptics, alcoholics, and sufferers of poverty (Largent,
2011). All of this effort was exerted to prevent undesirable children from being born. It was justified
by the assumption that unfit people aren t capable of adequate parenting; therefore their offspring
would be a financial burden on society. Strong ideals and dogma were the weapons chosen by
eugenicists to get involuntary sterilization legalized.
Depending on who is in power politically at a given time, certain people in society are vulnerable to
abuse. This author will focus on the topic of forced sterilization in America, as there are certain people
in this country that are still coerced and forced into sterilization.
Background
The topic of eugenics is broad in nature and can mean anything from human sterilization, reproductive
genetic technologies (RGT), selective breeding, restrictions on marriage and withholding assistance
from the poor and sick. All of this effort is exerted to protect society from the unfit, inferior and
ultimately to improve the quality of the gene pool (Camporesi, 2015).
Historical perspective
After Charles Darwin published his book On the origins of species in 1859, evolution became a hot
topic of discussion; the notion of the human race improving itself by selective breeding started to
spread (Winfield, 2012). For years

Creative Writing Is Not A Stranger
Creative writing is not a stranger to the classroom. It s more like a third cousin you see at family
reunions. Unfortunately, creative writing is not seen as a beneficial skill students need to learn.
Instead, it is used for elective classes or to fulfill a small section of a language arts standard. Creative
writing provides more than entertainment, it provides skills, which [students] have acquired in their
pursuit of a fictional character, will serve them equally well in their pursuit of subjects for expository,
persuasive, and analytic essays (Anderson, 47). This genre of writing requires creativity, curiosity, and
technical skills. Creative writing is detrimental to the progression of students writing ability. Teaching
creative writing is not as simple as letting students explore their imaginations, Peterson (2014) and
Crumey (2012) both suggest prior knowledge plays a significant role in the creative writing process. It
has been widely said a writer should, write what they know. This sentiment is often shared as a nugget
of wisdom to aspiring writers or those struggling from writer s block. Peterson (2014) says, young
writers should be passionate about what [they] do. Passion drives the best storytelling (500). Crumey s
(2012) argument is that to become a better writer, you need to be well read and you need to write. He
emphasizes this with a quote by Stephen King: You ve got to read a lot and write a lot (114). Crumey
(2012) explains the difference between

The Bosla Familia Program is a policy that tries to eliminate child labor through poverty elevation by
giving families with a certain low per capita income transfers as long as their children between the
ages 6 to 17 years old are enrolled in school (Pais et al., 2013, p. 664). Pais (2013) conducted research
on the program and found that it raised school attendance, but it did not stop children from being
involved in work activities (p. 666). Even though Pais did not find successful results the United States
Department of Labor praises the Bosla Familia program and that it has made notable efforts (para. 2).
This praise from the United States Department of Labor has created an inconsistency between which

I walk through the door of my team house. Seeing Professor Carl, and Mrs. Saren, on my couch.
No, absolutely not! I shove them through the door and close it.
Open the door, V. I turn around and see one of my two team mates.
Lydia has long midnight black hair to her waist, golden tan skin, and bright exotic brown eyes. She is
the same height as me, about mid height, 5ft even. She has muscular build, me being more muscular
and built of the three. I pull the door open. Glaring my hardest at our bosses. Hello, girls! Mrs. Saren

kind are stolen. I growled and sent an electric current through the air. They shrieked, and I apologized.
In one hour the guards will shift, and there will be a lull in the guard. At this time strike, hard fast and
deadly. The humans are already experimenting on them. I nodded and Mrs. Saren and Carl left. I
nodded to Lydia and she lifted her spell. We split to our rooms to prepare. I pulled on a black shirt, a
black leather jacket, a pair of leather pants, and leather combat boots. Leather is one of the few
materials that help mask a presence. Every loving things presence is their aura which mages use to

clothes. Hidden, but in perfect reach. I had a boot knife, four daggers, five throwing knives, brass
knuckles, one Korean war fan that conceals throwing stars and knives, sais, and twin daggers. I shifted
a few times to make sure everything was secured. I read over my passage of my werecat assassin

beautiful. She rocked a pair of tight leather pants, black dress like shirt, open leather jacket, and ankle

Visual Acuity Research Paper
What is visual acuity?
Visual acuity is commonly referred to as the clarity of vision and is dependent on both optical and
neural factors, such as the sharpness of the retinal focus in the eye, the health of the retina, and the
sensitivity of the brain. One aspect of visual acuity is the ability of recognizing and discriminating the
colours of the visible spectrum of light. There are two types of cells involved in vision: rod cells and
cone cells. Rod cells are highly sensitive cells that allow for low acuity vision in dim lit environments,
however they lack the detail and colour information. Cone cells are high acuity cells that provide
colour information in well lit environments. Rod cells provide more convergence than the cone cells
which results in their increased sensitivity but also results in the decreased acuity.
Physiology behind differences in visual acuity in men vs women
It is generally believed that woman have higher discriminatory abilities with respect to naming of
colours, which often implies they have superior colour vision. It has been found in many studies that
women perform better than men in the matching of colours from memory, and tend to use a plethora
of different words to describe sets of colour stimuli. It is possible that there exists an underlying
physiological explanation for why there should be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Quality And Quality Of Health Care
Quality in health care is making sure that the patient that is being attended to, is receiving the right
care at the right time. Quality means different thing to different people. Some weigh quality on the
amount of time it takes for them to be seen. Some say it is the way that they are treated and spoken
too. Quality can also be measured by some by the amount of time that they spend with the physician.
Quality plays a major role in every occupation. It is extremely important in the health care field. In

Essay On Tchaikovsky s Piano Concerto No. 2 In C Minor
sister s house in Ukraine, he began work on Symphony No. 2 in C Minor, which he finished that year.
Three years later, in the Mariinsky Theatre, in St. Petersburg The Oprichnik was performed. At the
time, the opera was not well regarded by critics, and Tchaikovsky eventually agreed with them. His
next opera, Vakula the Smith, later recomposed as Cherevichki, was criticized in much the same way
as The Oprichnik. Tchaikovsky as a budding composer encountered hardship in finding a happy
medium between his creative drive/fervor and his capability to judge his works still in development.
Despite the bad press from his operas, his orchestral compositions started to gain him fame, and, at the
end of 1874, Tchaikovsky wrote his Piano Concerto No. 1 in B flat Minor. At the ripe age of thirty

Creationism versus Evolutionism
Evolution by natural selection is a result of evolution that leaves organisms well adapted to their
current population but does not make a perfect organism (Smock 2014). Male guppies have shown
over the past 200 years to have more or less colorful patterns decorating their bodies. Studies have
shown that male guppies have more colorful body patterns in areas where there are no predators and
more conservative colorations when in hostile waters (Futuyuma 2009). A 1980 study proved that
once guppies were moved to safer waters, in the next later generations, more colorful male guppies
began to appear (Futuyuma 2009). The guppy applies to the first rule of natural selection that there is

The other reason that Intelligent Design is not able to stand as a scientific theory is that it is inherently
religious and therefore not actually scientific. That is proven in Judgment Day when it is discovered
that prior to the court ruling that outlawed Creationism being taught in school, the textbook that was
going to be used to teach Intelligent Design was using the word Creationism instead until it was
changed in the next editing phase (Judgment Day 2014).
What one must do to reconcile science and religion is to let go of the idea that one discipline rules out
the other (Miller 2001). Professor Ken Brown theorizes that maybe a higher power created a world
that was complex and alive at it s base and then allow it to be self sustaining, developing on it s own
(Miller 2001) which is a theory that I can agree with. What needs to be understood is that science will
never be able to explain why there is or is not a higher power and religion will never be able to explain
widely accepted theories like evolution (Miller 2001). They both function on their own realities, one
where science answers the natural world around us and one where religion gives meaning to our lives
(Miller 2001). The rift is made because there are people that deny the idea that something other than a
higher power was behind the beginning of

In addition to beginning and exacerbating conflicts, labeling can occur informally and formally.
Informal labels are utilized by an individual or group of individuals to establish a means of
identification for another individual or group of individuals. Formal labels are established by
institutions, such as academia and government, as a means to identify an individual or group of
individuals possessing similar characteristics.
A label has the power to define the individual or group of individuals being identified. That power is
equal to control (Koppelman, 2011). Both can have a positive or negative effect. Unfortunately, the
labels used by the majority are meant to have a negative effect. In fact, the labels are meant to demean
and hurt as much as possible. They are so negative that there seems to be the intent to drive the labeled
individual and/or group away, so they are no longer present and able to interact with the majority.
Within the context of the movie, the minority group referred to themselves as Jewish or Jews. When
used to describe one s self, I believe that the intent was to refer to one s ethnicity, nationality, and/or
religion, because they are strongly interrelated. Typically, the majority group labels itself in a way that

Why use lukewarm (or room temperature) instead of cold or hot water to make this healing morning

Chymotrypsin mimics. D Souza along with other researchers were investigated the use of an artificial
chymotrypsin with the binding site of cyclodextrin with the catalytic site of an imidazolyl group, a

they believed that the real and artificial enzyme had the same catalytic activity. The model enzyme as

active site is only known through X ray crystallography and because of this knowledge surrounding
the mechanism is limited. The crystallography data shows the proposed mechanism involves three

Family Food Traditions Eating brings people closer together everyday, and for everyone, there are
important memories that have been created because of food. Whether it s a formal dinner, or an

Summary Of Hispanics And The American Dream
In Linda Chavez s, Hispanics and the American Dream she starts by showing the growth of Hispanics
in America and how they are depicted. She sees them as a valuable part of society that is steadily
climbing to new heights on the socioeconomic ladder, yet the population perceives them to be the
lower end and will likely remain that way. She goes on to prove this assumption by the way Hispanics
are shown in the media, which states that poor and Hispanic goes hand in hand when thought of. What
is failed to be seen is that most Hispanics are steadily in the middle class, but this varies within the
group just as it does with all races. The analysts take into consideration the immigrants who have just
entered America, legal or illegal, which in turn causes the balance to shift towards the poor side of the
spectrum. Our overall perception of Hispanics plays a role in their place in society. Linda illustrates
how the way we view Hispanics is what holds them back from fully growing in our society. This is
mainly done through discrimination that withholds them from attaining jobs or opportunities that halts
their overall progression up the ladder. The U.S. census and many other federal agencies confirms that
the Hispanic race, much like any other race, works had to make a decent living and support their
families. This depicts Hispanics as a race that shares a common norm of all others, yet is still treated
as if they are the bottom rung of society. This is actually not the case when

In the course of AP Biology, there are four Big Ideas . The first one is The process of evolution drives
the diversity and unity of life . The second is Biological systems utilize free energy and molecular

a new environment. And this is just what the polar bears did. So even though they are now completely
different, they are linked together by the same family history (Harmon, Katherine). Another example
of evolution would involve natural selection. Natural selection is a chief mechanism hidden (under)
evolution, and it acts as a phenotypic honor/difference in populations; it kills off those species unfit to
survive and if a gene is viewed as a hider, it is either changed or eventually evolved away. But there
are those genes that are indifferent to the organism, it neither helps it nor hurts it. This is just like men

  • 2. Confidentiality Debate Debate Imagine being backed into a corner and your opponent is closing ground. Right now you re sweating trying to think of how you can escape. You have no weapons, no hands, you have nothing but your mouth. Would you be successful or just another victim, the most likely scenario is the ladder. Today s generation is quick to use violence to resolve issues instead of using their words, and i am inclined to believe that it has to do with the fact that they do not know how to have a civilized debate. This is where debate comes into play, debate is when you argue against an opponent trying to prove that your right and your opponent is wrong. I have been in debate almost my entire highschool term and i can honestly say that debate has gotten me out of many sticky situations for the simple fact i knew how to talk to someone and get my point across. I remember when i was in a debate and the topic was, is Urban Transit a necessity in rundown neighborhoods. I was on the affirmative side, the side which is for the plan and my opponent asked would I be willing to ride the bus with convicts and criminals. Now everyone s initial answer should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Topicality debate is when the debate goes from facts to definitions this is by far the hardest form of debate because every word comes into play and you have to know the right definition I can think of many times where I completely beat my opponent on the definitions of there, they re or their. You would be surprised how many people don t know the difference. Now you re probably thinking what does that have to do with arguing but the truth is it has everything to do with it. If you don t know the right definitions how can you even argue someone. It s like trying to tell someone that the sky is blue we might know it s blue but if they truly believe it s a different color then there is no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Texas Tech And The College Of Human Sciences Texas Tech is a large University located in Lubbock Texas and is home to many faculty members. Because it is so big we, decided that focusing on one college, the college for human sciences, for the semester is the best way to ensure we give our best work out there, in hopes of in the future being able to help other colleges at Texas Tech University. The college of Human Sciences has a total of one hundred and twenty eight faculty members according the fall 2015 faculty census on the Texas Tech website (Faculty Head Count). They also break this number down by ethnicity. There majority of the faculty population is White Non Hispanic people accounting for ninety nine out of the one hundred twenty eight people (Faculty Head Count). The least was Black Non Hispanic, accounting for only two (Faculty Head Count). We hope to get as many ethnicities to participate in this program to be able to study trends in the specific ethnicity and then to compare and contrast with others (Faculty Head Count). Now to further our knowledge we took to online resources. Reading what other people thought effective time management skills helped us design a plan that could be formed to fit the needs of the individual. Being healthy does not just mean that one is in shape and eats right. Being healthy is an all around healthy body, as well as mind. We believe if the faculty is able to form a habit to better scheduling their school schedule, they will be able to be more productive due to an increase on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Motivations of Pathological Gamblers Based on information from the National Opinion Research Center (NORC), the National Gambling Impact Study Commission (NGISC) states that there are two and a half million individuals who fall into a state defined as a pathological gambler, another three million are considered problem gamblers, and roughly fifteen million more could be considered at risk (NORC, 1999). A pathological gambler is one who has a severe uncontrollable urge to gamble despite harmful negative consequences or a desire to stop. This project proposes to address the need to keep a casino patron from developing a pathological or compulsive gambling problem. The project will entail investigating the driving factors for a person gambling themselves into problems and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The trail an individual takes to pathological gambling can essentially be defined as a psychological imbalance or emersion into an alternate world. Natasha Dow Schull, a cultural anthropologist, shows this alternate world emersion in her recent book on compulsive gambling and the addictive nature of slot machines. She describes these normally reserved individuals who become absorbed in gambling as entering a trancelike state she references as the machine zone. This machine zone is the essence of an addictive gamblers fault. Schull describes the individuals as having their personal needs, social worries, and bodily awareness fade (Schull, 2008). Unlike other addictions, pathological or problem gamblers are not controlled by a chemical or substance. They are consumed by a psychological need to gamble. That is why by developing an information structure that will monitor this behavior, preventive measures can be implemented to control these psychological emersions. Current treatment of individuals who experience gambling addiction is performed by counselors with extensive training in this area. These counselors specialize in neurosciences and family therapy, since the addicted individual needs to rekindle their normal state of mind as well as their personal relationships with others. When a gambler has been committed to therapy the counselor will focus help based on the individual s personal needs and necessary treatment plan. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The money that he made from his steel factory was ironically against his giving attitude that he was trying to generate. I think that after he realized that he would never have to worry about his financial situation ever again, he focused on becoming a public figure and cared about the public opinion of himself. Pais (2013) conducted research on the program and found that it raised school attendance, but it did not stop children from being involved in work activities (p. 666). • 29. Visual Acuity Research Paper What is visual acuity? Visual acuity is commonly referred to as the clarity of vision and is dependent on both optical and neural factors, such as the sharpness of the retinal focus in the eye, the health of the retina, and the sensitivity of the brain. One aspect of visual acuity is the ability of recognizing and discriminating the colours of the visible spectrum of light. There are two types of cells involved in vision: rod cells and cone cells. Rod cells are highly sensitive cells that allow for low acuity vision in dim lit environments, however they lack the detail and colour information. Cone cells are high acuity cells that provide colour information in well lit environments. Rod cells provide more convergence than the cone cells which results in their increased sensitivity but also results in the decreased acuity. Physiology behind differences in visual acuity in men vs women It is generally believed that woman have higher discriminatory abilities with respect to naming of colours, which often implies they have superior colour vision. It has been found in many studies that women perform better than men in the matching of colours from memory, and tend to use a plethora of different words to describe sets of colour stimuli. Three years later, in the Mariinsky Theatre, in St. Petersburg The Oprichnik was performed. At the time, the opera was not well regarded by critics, and Tchaikovsky eventually agreed with them. Studies have shown that male guppies have more colorful body patterns in areas where there are no predators and more conservative colorations when in hostile waters (Futuyuma 2009). A 1980 study proved that once guppies were moved to safer waters, in the next later generations, more colorful male guppies began to appear (Futuyuma 2009). That is proven in Judgment Day when it is discovered that prior to the court ruling that outlawed Creationism being taught in school, the textbook that was going to be used to teach Intelligent Design was using the word Creationism instead until it was changed in the next editing phase (Judgment Day 2014). What one must do to reconcile science and religion is to let go of the idea that one discipline rules out the other (Miller 2001). Professor Ken Brown theorizes that maybe a higher power created a world that was complex and alive at it s base and then allow it to be self sustaining, developing on it s own (Miller 2001) which is a theory that I can agree with. What needs to be understood is that science will never be able to explain why there is or is not a higher power and religion will never be able to explain widely accepted theories like evolution (Miller 2001). Informal labels are utilized by an individual or group of individuals to establish a means of identification for another individual or group of individuals. Formal labels are established by institutions, such as academia and government, as a means to identify an individual or group of individuals possessing similar characteristics. A label has the power to define the individual or group of individuals being identified. That power is equal to control (Koppelman, 2011). Both can have a positive or negative effect. Unfortunately, the labels used by the majority are meant to have a negative effect. In fact, the labels are meant to demean and hurt as much as possible. They are so negative that there seems to be the intent to drive the labeled individual and/or group away, so they are no longer present and able to interact with the majority. She sees them as a valuable part of society that is steadily climbing to new heights on the socioeconomic ladder, yet the population perceives them to be the lower end and will likely remain that way. She goes on to prove this assumption by the way Hispanics are shown in the media, which states that poor and Hispanic goes hand in hand when thought of. What is failed to be seen is that most Hispanics are steadily in the middle class, but this varies within the group just as it does with all races. The analysts take into consideration the immigrants who have just entered America, legal or illegal, which in turn causes the balance to shift towards the poor side of the spectrum. Our overall perception of Hispanics plays a role in their place in society. Linda illustrates how the way we view Hispanics is what holds them back from fully growing in our society. This is mainly done through discrimination that withholds them from attaining jobs or opportunities that halts their overall progression up the ladder. The U.S. census and many other federal agencies confirms that the Hispanic race, much like any other race, works had to make a decent living and support their families. Natural selection is a chief mechanism hidden (under) evolution, and it acts as a phenotypic honor/difference in populations; it kills off those species unfit to survive and if a gene is viewed as a hider, it is either changed or eventually evolved away.
