Ed Gein Essay
This paper is based on the life of Ed Gein. He was an unusual character, born on a farm, and raised
by a religious crazy, domineering mother. In the space of a few years his entire family passed away
and he was left to take care of his farm all by himself. In the next few years he became a grave
robber, a necrophiliac, a cannibal, and also took up arts and crafts in body parts. He is known as
one of the weirdest serial killersof the twentieth century. He also inspired movies like Psycho,
Silence of The Lambs, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

He went to an old friend by the name of Gus, who was a loner and odd as well. Gus was Ed s
trusted friend, he agreed to assist in digging up the body for medical experiments . His first corpse
was less than 12 feet away from his mother s grave.
Over the next 10 years Ed did the same thing look up obituaries in the local newspaper and dig up
fresh corpses on a full moon. He would take the whole corpse or just the parts that he needed at the
time.
His experiments with dead bodies were bizarre. He would construct objects with the bones and
skin and the organs and meats were stored in the fridge to eat and give as fresh venison to his
neighbors. He would commit acts of necrophilia on the bodies. He even dug up his own mother s
corpse!

Wanting To Be A Woman
Ed Gein never told Gus that he wanted to be a woman. That s why he studied anatomy. He was
always telling people about operations that resulted in a change of sex. Ed was always desiring to
dissect female corpses and familiarize himself with its anatomy. The closest he got was to wear a
full body suit made of women skin, breasts and face included.
His collections of trophies got larger, and so did the range of his experimentation and obsession.
Gus was then taken to an asylum, and Ed was then left alone again. Ed thought that fresher bodies
would be better for his collection so he

In Defense of Liberty and Individuality Essay
In Defense of Liberty and Individuality
It is a little known fact that for the past century, every American president has been given a copy of
John Stuart Mill s On Liberty[1] upon entering office. Since its publication in 1859, On Liberty s
discussions of liberty and individuality have been a foundation for modern Western political thought
and for the liberal democracy. Mill brings to light a unique perspective on the relationship between
liberty and individuality, and in the end, on tolerance. According to Mill, individual libertyshould
be limited by one, and only one thing: the self preservation of society and other individuals. To that
end, man should be free to act and even more so to think in any form he wishes, ... Show more

The aim, therefore, of patriots, was to set limits to the power which the ruler should be suffered
to exercise over the community; and this limitation was what they meant by liberty (On Liberty,
4). These reforms were leading to the democratization of culture and government the transition
that Mill sees around him putting power in the hands of the people. This was supposed to
remove the possibility of tyranny, but Mill is not convinced. He sees two types of tyranny
unaccounted for: tyranny of the majority, where the many persecute the few, and tyranny of
public opinion, in which society seeks to impose a set of values on everyone. [T]he tyranny of the
majority is now generally included among the evils against which society requires to be on guard
(On Liberty, 6). Mill sees the need for laws to protect against both types of tyranny.
After noting that many nations have tried and failed at this feat, he offers his own solution.
Society or an individual may interfere with individual rights if and only if it is necessary to
protect itself. [T]he sole end for which mankind are warranted, individually or collectively, in
interfering with the liberty of action of any of their members, is self protection...[h]is own good,
either physical or moral, is not a sufficient warrant (On Liberty, 11). Mill uses a Hobbesian notion
of self preservation as the cornerstone of his

The Change Of Leaf Color
Typically, as nature starts the transformation process from summer to fall, the green leaves on the
trees begin to change into colors of reds, golds, browns, and oranges. Eventually, the leaves fall off
the trees onto the ground. Three factors contribute to the change in leaf color according to USDA s
Northeastern Area Forest Service website, which include leaf pigments, length of night, and
weather. The increasing length of night and other ecological influences such as the temperature,
rainfall, and food supply trigger the biochemical process of the leaves (na.fs.fed.us). Photosynthesis
occurs in the chloroplasts of the leaves. A chloroplast is a type of plant cell organelle known as a
plastid. Plastids support the storing of the needed ingredients for energy production. A chloroplast
contains a green pigment called chlorophyll which is the agent that gives leaves their green color.
Chlorophyll is important to the photosynthesis process as it is the chemical reaction that facilitates
plants to use sunlight to produce sugars for their food (biology.about.com). During the emergent
season, chlorophyll is repetitively produced and broken down, which causes the leaves to appear
green in color. As the nights grow longer, the production of chlorophyll diminishes and eventually
ceases production. Depending on the type of plant, as the chlorophyll becomes dormant, the color
of the leaves begins to change to reds, browns, yellows, and oranges (na.fs.fed.us).

Wind Farm Essay
Katie Stevenson News Editor @KatieSStevenson Nodaway county has approved a new, 23,000
acre, wind farm for which construction will begin in 2019. This decision came after the
Nodaway County Enhanced Enterprise Zone (EEZ) committee approved the tax adjustment
application from Tenaska Clear Creek Wind. The turbines will be north of Gray s Truck Stop,
continuing to the Iowa border and just west of Pickering Missouri. According to Monte Ten Kley,
Director, Strategic Development Acquisitions at Tenaska the project began in 2008 but Tenaska
was not involved until the summer of 2016 and has recently really started to take off. Tenaska is
developing a 200 to 300 megawatt wind project near Maryville in Nodaway County called the

The remainder can continue to be used in its current state, such as for farming or grazing. This is
another cash crop for landowners that participate in the project, thereby helping to stabilize farm
incomes. Yet, according to Ten Kley Tenaska wants to be an integral part of the Maryville
community instead of simply helping the economy. Additionally, Tenaska is known for being a
good business neighbor in communities where its plants operate, Ten Kley said. Those facilities
have a long standing record of support for broad based community programs, including food
pantries and local Scout troops, and employees donate thousands of hours of time annually to
community projects, from serving on school boards to tutoring students and coaching athletics.
According to the United States Energy Information Administration (EIA) as of 2016, Missouri had
659 megawatts of wind generating capacity online, another 300 megawatts being built, and
substantial additional wind energy potential, primarily in the state s northwest. According to Ten
Kley the Missouri and the Midwest have some of the best areas for wind farms. The Midwest has
some of the best wind resources in the nation and recent advances in turbine technology have
continued to increase the feasibility and cost competitiveness of wind projects in Missouri, Ten
Kley said. These changes, along with the notable wind resource in Nodaway County, has made the

Shawangunk Mountain Formation
Abstract: Determining the location of the Shawangunk Mountain formation from our position on
the outcrop can demonstrate a lot about the upbringing of this formation. The Shawangunk
Formation, consisting of quartz pebble conglomerate from the Middle Silurian age, extends from
south of the Hudson Valley down south until Virginia. The vanishing of the formation within the
area of Rosendale, NY has led to investigations of tectonic events. Due to the Taconic orogeny, we
see the formation of the Shawangunk Mountains being formatted. Through the transgression of
fluvial system, the Shawangunk Mountain formation rose southeast as the result of the tectonic
deformation. The coarse grained beds in the lower portion of the outcrop demonstrate a very... Show

However, it is very similar to how detriots react. Notice the orange tints to the beds towards the
top of the outcrop are due to the oxidation of iron. It began dissolving iron into the rock formation
that oxidizes as the air hits. Green coloring is also exposed due to the algae, and moss growing.

Essay On Gerrymandering
When looking at a map of the United States, it can be seen that it is very cut and dry. The borders
of states are straight, cut at right angles, and distributes the land proportionally. The same cannot be
seen or said for Congressional districts. The intention is to evenly divide up the States even further
but instead, it is based on the state populations. It can also be apparent that the drawing of the
districts in recent years has been less than about population numbers, but as to who the population
votes for. Representation including district boundaries is known as the practice of gerrymandering.
So in the process of setting districts, gerrymandering is a practice attempting to establish a political
advantage for a particular group.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was not until 1964 in the case of Reynolds vs Sims that found An individual s right to vote for
state legislators is unconstitutionally impaired when its weight is in a substantial fashion when
compared with votes of citizens living in other parts of the State (Reynolds v Sims), which
came as a result of discriminatory representation in the state of Alabama. This case however,
only outlines unlawful practice in a narrow fashion, not giving full width to the possible
practices. Districts can still be redrawn in ways that give one group a large advantage over their
competitors. It is described that Voters in seven states...have turned to such commissions in an
effort to reduce political gerrymandering, the map drawing method that leads to districts easily
won by Democrats or Republicans (Wolf). This is why we see districts drawn in such illogical
patterns that render the minority groups, most likely powerless. This can also allow the minority
group to unlikely win. Only when race seems to be the predominant factor in the apportionment,
do these redistribution schemes face any legal action, being at risk with the 14th Amendment. It is
very easily possible to give a win to a minority party because of these practices. In North Carolina,
where the two party House vote was fifty one percent Democratic, forty nine percent Republican,
the average simulated delegation was seven Democrats and

Isaac Asimov What Is Intelligence Anyway
My thoughts on What is Intelligence Anyway? In the essay What is Intelligence Anyway? the
author Isaac Asimov shows how despite what popular consensus is, whether a person is considered
intelligent or not will depend on the subject at hand. There is no denying that he is right about this.
Asimov talks about his conversations with his auto mechanic and how he was considered
intelligent due to how he scored on some tests while his mechanic would do poorly on the test.
Despite that Asimov admits he doesn t understand the first thing about cars. This would mean that
Asimov is intelligent by school standards but not by automobile standards. I can relate to both
Asimov and the Mechanic in this situation. While I know the secrets and how

Wife Of Bath Feminism Essay
Feminism in the Wife of Bath Prologue In her prologue from The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey
Chaucer, the Wife of Bath portrays a different take on the typical medieval woman. By doing so
she is confirming negative stereotypes about women from this time and demonstrating that they
are in fact deceitful and manipulative. Although at first her actions may seem revolutionary, she
is just a tool used by Chaucer to mock women during this time period rather than empower them.
Even just based solely on the way she is introduced in her prologue, she appears as if she uses her
sexual attributes for personal gain instead of trying to show her equal status. Overall this female
character is supposed to be seen as a parody since she embodies numerous negative female
stereotypes such as, deceitfulness, stupidity, and arrogance. Even though she is retaliating back at

In other words, she is conforming to the patriarchy rather than working outside of it and so she
only ends up confirming the negative stereotypes of women, especially since most of the
insights she offers are misunderstood, twisted, or just simply incorrect. For example, at one
point she refers to the Bible again, saying, Where can ye saye in any manere age / That hye God
defended marriage / By expres word? I praye you, telleth me / Or where he commanded virginitee?
(lines 65 68). She is justifying her bad behavior with the Bible and her misinterpretations of it and
this makes her appear dumb rather than educated. It confirms the stereotype of medieval women
that they are not as capable at understanding the mysteries and deep meanings of the Bible and that
if they are given education on the matter they would only use it to justify their sinful

Conflict Theory And Social Interactionism In Orange Is The...
Orange is the new black is a Netflix original series about the functional ability of a woman s
prison in upstate New York. Integrity, power, and privilege all work together to create many of the
situations that arise. Litchfield prison is made up of white male officers, and different racial
groups that are clearly divided. For each race, loosely made up of: blacks, latinos, whites, others ,
and a group of older women known as the golden girls , there is a sector of living. Blacks in one
block, with a bathroom only for them, whites in another, etc. Conflict theory and symbolic
interactionism are both excellent theories to examine this series by. Conflict theory, a multi part
theory about both raceand gender, is applicable to Orange Is The New Black because of the
degrading treatment of the women and the denial of their basic feminine needs. Symbolic
interactionism can be applied to most situations that occur in the show. Through these theories
social interactions in Orange Is The New Black can be looked at and better understood.
Privilege can be applied to many different situations throughout the show. Racial privilege, gender
privilege, class privilege, etc. A common theme of privilege throughout Orange Is The New Black
is racial privilege. This is shown through the cleanliness of the living quarters and punishment
given across races. SHU (solitary confinement) is much more readily handed out to black inmates
over any other race. In one episode, a screwdriver goes

The Glorious Revolution in England of 1688
The Glorious Revolution in England of 1688 James II succession to the throne of England came
without protest of any kind. James II was the son of Charles I and younger brother to Charles II.
In January of 1649, Charles I, King of England, went on trial and was convicted as a Tyrant,
Traitor, Murderer, and public enemy to the good people of this nation. (Cannon, pg. 385) On 7
February 1649, Charles II was proclaimed King of Great Britain. While Charles II was in office, he
began to develop a form of government that existed without the parliament. In 1685, when Charles
II brother, James II, took over, James continued with the trend in government that his brother set
into action. From the Restoration of Charles II in 1660 to the... Show more content on

Hence, the Glorious Revolution earned the name the Bloodless Revolution. This was the first
revolution where a king was dismounted without any bloodshed (Israel, pg. 432 40). As the
Glorious Revolution ended, England was forced into an immediate conflict with Louis XIV of
France. James II, a Catholic king, had been disposed of, and a Protestant king, William, husband
of Mary, James s daughter, had taken over. Louis and James were able to get along but William
and Louis were not. They began a war over what is now present day Belgium. Belgium was a key
place for fortresses and harbors (Kissinger, pg.71). Though the revolution itself may have been
bloodless, it caused much unrest in England. Old stresses between the King and Parliament,
Church and Dissent, appeared to be undiminished and were joined by bitter divisions over the
succession of William III and Mary II. This involved rebellion and war in Ireland and Scotland,
and plots, riots, and insurrection in England (Hoppit, pg. 2). It is very doubtful whether many of
the revolutionaries of 1688 foresaw the consequences of their actions in terms of England s
relations with foreign powers. Before the revolution, England was largely pro French and anti
Dutch. After 1688, France was to become more or less a permanent enemy. The Nine Years War
was actually a war spawned from the Glorious Revolution between England and France (Morgan,
pg. 353 56). After James II was relieved of

Conservation and Preservation at the Turn of the 19th Century
Missing Works Cited
The environmentalist movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries presents a picture of
America at the time: torn between the desires to expand while seeking to protect nature. Although
all members of the movement sought to protect nature, there were two predominant schools as to
how to go about this. In their two philosophies, they created two methods for human interaction
with the wilderness. The conservationist movement can be called the utilitarian movement, and
sought the greatest good for the greatest number over the longest term. In contrast, the
preservationist school aimed at keeping nature in its current state, although the ... Show more

This networking would serve him later in life, but first he had to receive an education in forestry,
something unavailable in America. Thus he traveled to Germany to study forestry theory in
Germany and England. The time spent in Europe formed the foundation of his beliefs on
conservation and through him those of the conservationist movement.
Pinchot left Europe with some convictions about forestry. He had learned... that trees are a crop...
Pinchot brought the gospel that forestry was the art of using a forest without destroying it... [He]
preached that through the use of proper methods a forest could be both harvested and preserved.
(McGeary 23) This conviction reveals the underlying theory to all of the conservation movement,
that nature should be viewed in the confines of its economic value. For example, Pinchot s policy
did not allow for the continuation of old growth forests, but demanded that they be cut down and
let new trees to grow back in their place. He clashed repeatedly during his career with
conservationists who were basically devoted to preserving the trees. (McGeary 87)
To understand where the motivation and passion to protect the environment was developed, one
looks to the rapid deforestation of East Coast old growth forests at the turn of the century. As
Gifford Pinchot expressed it, The American Colossus was fiercely at work turning natural resources
into money. A

Designing A Rectangular Microstrip Patch Antenna And L...
By using the advantages of the microstrip patch antenna and L probe feeding technique, hexagonal
patch is etched on a square microstrip antenna to achieve broad bandwidth and improved gain. In
this Project, MSA is designed with dual substrates, one for L probe other for radiating patch.
4.1 Design Specifications
The three essential parameters for the design of a rectangular Microstrip Patch Antenna:
Frequency of operation (fo): The resonant frequency of the antenna must be selected appropriately.
The WLAN band uses the frequency range from 2.4 GHz to 5.28 GHZ. Hence the antenna
designed must be able to operate in this frequency range. The resonant frequency selected for
design is 2.4 GHz.
Dielectric constant of the substrate (Оµr): The dielectric material selected for our design is FR4
which has a dielectric constant of 4.4. A substrate with a high dielectric constant has been selected
since it reduces the dimensions of the antenna. Table 4.1: Design parameters of microstrip antenna

Pros And Cons Of A Well-Cut White Shirt
A white shirt VS a well cut white shirt
Compared to all the colours of shirts that are available in the market, white and black colour has
always been the top priority to men. Especially, white shirt in men has a special appeal that appears
out of nowhere and this gets the women going. A perfectly ironed or slightly crinkled up buttoned
down white shirt has always been known to give the men a look of class. This particular piece of
dress goes along well with any of the jean or the formal pants.
Well cut white shirt
We all know what a normal white shirt is. Now let us look at what a well cut white shirt is
actually is. We have seen these in advertisements and also in shops. Basically, a well cut white
shirt is a normal white shirt that has been custom tailored to accentuate the physique of a man. So
say so, this particular shirt is cut at the right places to make the man look toned up and to show off
his muscles that he has worked hard to develop.
Why this particular white shirt
One might ask like why we have to go in for this well cut white shirt when we can simply just
purchase the white shirt from the shops. Just take a second here and think about few things. Have
you ever seen the commercials for these types of shirts while watching some show on the
television? Just imagine how those men look in those well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

difficult to tuck them in and even after tucking in; some of the fabric is loose on the sides and

even after rolling them up, it never helps in showing off your arms. When you look at the videos
that are available on YouTube, one can see that when the ideal white shirts for the men are
discussed, majority of the people are going in for the well cut look rather than the regular white

Organizational Culture Is The Key Values, Beliefs And...
Organizational Culture:
Organizational Culture is the key values, beliefs and attitudes shared by the members of an
organization. Organizational culture includes an organization s expectations, experiences,
philosophy, and values that hold it together, and is expressed in its self image, inner workings,
interactions with the outside world, and expectations for the future. A key source of organizational
culture is usually its founder. It can be sustained by creating and spreading organizational stories
and organizational heroes.
London Drugs has had a strong culture since it was founded 70 years ago. Their culture was
originally focused on entrepreneurship and is very original. A big part of their culture focuses on
taking care of their people and helping out communities. London drugs does this by providing
family assistance program to its employees. An example of this family assistance program is
where employees are helped during their hard times like funerals. Keeping the environment clean is
another important element of London Drugs culture. They have created the What s the Green
Deal? program, which ensures everything in the company is done in a way which does not harm
the environment. According to the Vice President of London Drugs, the best part of the company s
culture is that you get a very open, familial feeling when you are working. The reason behind is
that everyone knows how to treat each other and support each other. A big part of the cultureis to

Having a medical health care access, in my opinion, is everybody s right. In other words, it is a
privilege that people should posse because oftentimes health care systems are not always

that each one of us has to work for it in order to achieve it, and perhaps it is what we call it

that people should protect and keep themselves under control by taking care of their body not only

Resolving the Social Problem of Crime
Resolving a Social Problem: As mentioned in the first assignment, one of the main social
problems in the modern society is crime, which is basically defined as an offense against public
law. Since it is a major social problem, crime has significant effects on victims, the society, and
social institutions. Crime is a multi faceted social problem because it involves personal
responsibility as well as social, cultural, and political aspects that contribute to it. It is also a
social problem that should be understood from a social context because it does not occur in a
social vacuum. Due to the social nature of crime and its impact on the society, there are several
organizations that seek to address this social problem. These organizations range from
governmental agencies to community based organizations with different ways for addressing the
problem. Some examples of organizations committed to this social problem include National
Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA) and Crime Prevention Coalition of America.
Objectives of these Organizations: The mission of National Organization for Victim Assistance
(NOVA) is to promote dignity and compassion for individuals harmed by crime and crisis ( Nova
Overview , n.d.). Therefore, the organization is committed to addressing the social problem by
focusing on victims of crime and victims of crisis. National Organization for Victim Assistance

Powers Of Ten Analysis
To begin, much like space, the videos and books read and listened to, covered a lot of ground.
What these sources explained was simply how big space is and our microscopic place is inside
such a colossal surrounding of stars, galaxies, Nebulas, and so much more. To first get a reference
point of our closer neighbors, we were brought through an adventure in the countryside with Bill
Nye to acknowledge the unimaginable distances between the planets. For example, when earthwas
scaled to the size of a baseball, it took over well over two miles to reach an absolutely tiny scale
model of Pluto. This is striking on it s own and even more staggering is the fact that Pluto is but a
inconsequential speck on the map of the solar system, galaxy, and universe... Show more content on

The short documentary begins at the hand, or thumb, of a man picnicking in Chicago, then things

forward, our planet, our sun, our solar system, even the our Galaxy, The Milky Way, shrink out of
sight into a bewildering cluster of galaxies. Third and finally, a representation of the space

Review Of The Fall Of Constantinople Essay
Jeffery Jacob World History [Teacher name here] December 21st, 2016 The Fall of Constantinople
Byzantium was one of the many Greek city states that stratled along the coasts of the Aegean Sea.
As an abundant source of Grains, fish, and trade, she played a pivotal role as a landing for Darius
colossal army against the Greeks; a battleground between Athens and Sparta during the
Pelloponessian war; and a prized tributary under Roman supervision. The Roman Emperor,
Constantine I, renamed the city after himself and the newly christened Constantinoplegrew to
eclipse Rome as the greatest Capital of Europe. Even after the continent was plunged into the so
called Dark Ages ; protected by the indominable Theodosian Wall, The Queen of Cities , as the
Greek speaking Byzantines called her, retained her position as the most prestine City of the early
Middle Ages. And became the seat of power for the great Basilieis, Greek plural for Emperors, and
the venerated Patriarchs of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Yet the middle ages made life more
turbulant for the aged Byzantine Empireas it lost vast swathes of land to the surging Muslim
Caliphate; struggled with internal corruption throughout its lifetime; clung desperately to its
commercial power in the face of competition from merchant republics such as Genoa and Venice;
and embroiled itself into several centuries of conflicts with the Turks over control of Anatolia,
modern day Turkey. However, its Religious influence grew

Informative Essay On Snow Removal
The fact can be really comprehended that snow falling is something that everyone takes pleasure in.
Several people might hold a different perception to the following question.
How does it feel when you are sitting near the window inside your house relishing a cup of hot and
scented coffee and taking a mesmerizing view of snow falling?
You simply get hypnotized by such a captivating view that MotherNature showers on you. Winter
is hitting the doors and it has almost taken every human being under its shed. It is something that
people really relish big time. But what they don t enjoy is when they see snow getting accumulated

Pursuing A Career In School Psychology
The authors begin chapter three by explaining that there are commonly discrepancies among raters
and their ratings of child behavior. Moreover, these differences stem from the different
perceptions of the parents, teachers, children, and even the school psychologist. The differences
can also be attributed to the differences in the child s behavior across contexts. This information
is important to acknowledge and understand for many reasons. We are different. What a parent
might constitute as a poor behavior, might be seen as an acceptable behavior by the teacher. It all
goes back to culture and what each person truly believes to be important and/or meaningful. This
also made me think of other courses that we have taken where we were required to observe a child,
as well as operationally define a target behavior. The operational definition of the behavior helps to
ensure that anyone can observe the same behavior without confusion.... Show more content on

Monetronic Financial Crisis
Monetarists connection with the financial crises has its origins on the most influential economist
since 1970, Milton Friedman. Friedman and Schwartz (1963) argued that financial crises are
largerly exogenous phenomena and connected them with banking panics. As they documented,
bank panics lead to decline in money supplybecause depositors withdraw their deposits and banks
move to reserves rather than loans (Mishkin, 1992, pp. 122 124). The decline in money supply
follows the contraction of aggregate economic activity and the price level. It is worth mentioning,
in the early view of monetarism, decreasing asset prices and increasing business failures cannot
characterized as financial crisis, if no bank panic occurs (Mishkin, 1992, p. 116).... Show more

1441 1442) mention that, in this model, shocks due to innovation and/or expectations can generate
credit cycles and asset price fluctuations. Furthermore, they highlights three worth considering
properties of this model related with the recent credit boom. First, loose monetary policy may not
fully explain credit booms and asset bubbles because a decline in interest rate increase the money
demand and the price of assets but the result on credit demand is ambiguous. The unclear effect on
credit demand occurs because the positive effect of declining interest rate and the negative effect
of lower cost of equity. Second, demand for credit and asset prices increase if expectation for
higher future asset prices exist. In that case, the result in money demand is not certain. The higher
asset prices influence positively money demand but the expected return of real assets negatively.
Ultimately, the expansion of credit, due to for example financial innovations, to lead to lower
interest rates and higher money demand and asset

the gene expression profiles shifting the treatment to more specific approach guided by certain

Gene expression profiling divides breast cancer into 3 major subtypes: luminal, human epidermal
growth factor receptor 2+ (HER2+), and basal like. Such classification has helped in predicting the
treatment and the prognosis of each type11. Hormonal therapy and targeted therapy have replaced
chemotherapy for subclasses that overexpress the corresponding receptors.
Luminal subtypes (Luminal A, Luminal B) are hormone receptor positive (HR) estrogen receptor
(ER)positive and progesterone receptor (PR) positive. They gene expression patterns similar to
normal cells that line the breast ducts12 14. Luminal subtypes are known to have better prognosis,
high survival rate and low recurrence rate compared to other subtypes .Treatment option of luminal
subtypes is based on HR targeting.
HER 2 is known for overexpression of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) genes.

The project has not yet fully achieve its goals, but it contains approved results for future

have had a lot of successes. One of the successes appeared as the salmon experiment, 1,200
salmon got released for the first time in the river and over 40% of these fish successfully
migrated 150 miles downstream of the river. The project will cost approximately 892 million
dollars with an additional 188 million dollars in levee improvements. The followers of this project
believe that the money has continued well spend but not necessarily true. The project continues in
the process, but it has displayed working characteristics for some of the salmon s migration to

caused a delay. Farmers and near residents think the project needs reevaluation to put priorities

we would get more water and easier to continue the project. After reading multiple articles and

Is Punishment Justified
When punishment is only justified as a response to moral fault, obstinate questions may arise as to
the justification of punishment. This is what this piece seek to critically assess as it takes the stand
that punishment is justifiable when it is a response to moral fault. There are many definitions of
punishmentas there are many philosophers and how they view punishment. However a few
definitions are accepted and well known worldwide. Punishment is some pain or penalty warranted
by law, inflicted on a person, for the commission of a crimeor misdemeanor, or for the omission of
the performance of an act required by law, by the judgment and command of some lawful court .
The body of this piece is divided into three parts in which the first part will discuss the theories and
philosophies of retributivism. The second part will discuss my view on the topic, The Justification
of Punishment as a Response to Moral Fault . The last part however will discuss and contrast
retributivism to consequentialism. The philosophy behind Justification of Punishment pursues to
explain why punishment should exist and why it has to be justified. Hence Justification of
punishment usually takes two camps, the Retributivism camp and Consequentialism camps.... Show

consequentialist undermines the dignity of man and rather end up changing individual to suit what

punishment is not justified. For this reason I stand to the notion that unless punishment is a

Trial by Media
Chapter I Introductory The subject of Trial by Media is discussed by civil rights activists,
Constitutional lawyers, judges and academics almost every day in recent times. With the coming
into being of the television and cable channels, the amount of publicity which any crime or
suspect or accused gets in the media has reached alarming proportions. Innocents may be
condemned for no reason or those who are guilty may not get a fair trial or may get a higher
sentence after trial than they deserved. There appears to be very little restraint in the media in so
far as the administration of criminal justice is concerned. We are aware that in a democratic country

Zee Telefilms (IA 8185/2003 in Suit No. 1543/2003 dated 24.1.2005) aptly describe the state of
affairs of today s media. He says that journalism and ethics stand apart. While journalists are
distinctive facilitators for the democratic process to function without hindrance the media has to
follow the virtues of accuracy, honesty, truth, objectivity, fairness, balanced reporting, respect or
autonomy of ordinary people . These are all part of the democratic process. But practical
considerations, namely, pursuit of successful career, promotion to be obtained, compulsion of
meeting deadlines and satisfying Media Managers by meeting growth targets, are recognized as
factors for the temptation to print trivial stories salaciously presented . In the temptation to sell
stories, what is presented is what public is interested in rather than what is in public interest .
Suspects and accused apart, even victims and witnesses suffer from excessive publicity and
invasion of their privacy rights. Police are presented in poor light by the media and their morale

whatever gossip the media gathers about the line of investigation by the official agencies, it gives
such publicity in respect of the information that the person who has indeed committed the crime,
can move away to safer places. The pressure on the police from media day by day builds up and

But where did this ideal come from? Aristide Maillol was born in 1861 in a pink house in
Banyuls ser Mer to a family of fisherman and vine growers. It is this home, sandwiched between
the Mediterranean Sea and the Alberes mountains, where Maillol would spend his whole life, in
the old village with its labyrinth of narrow lanes, amid the green Pyrenean foothills full of vines,
trees and mimosas, and beyond, the snowcapped summits in the distance. This is the place that
would shape the expressive qualities of the artist s sculptures, as well as form his ideal conception
of woman, which would be his primary subject. This isolated little village in the countryside was a
location where a good decent girl would never be nude or scandalous, where conservative families
survived off of both the sea and the vines. Maillol s life in the countryside is evident in his work,
including The Three Graces. He retains a rustic ingenuousness in his work, something calm, self

How To Write A Sam Yang Essay
Overview
Hunting big game is a thrilling sport. It requires a lot of skill, guts, and of course, the right gun.
For this challenge you need an extremely high powered, big bore air rifle to do the job in a
successful and humane manner. You need an air rifle that can fire heavy pellets with enough
velocity to take down big game like wolves, deer, mountain lions, or wild boars. However, most
big bore air rifles today require you to be extremely close to the animal so you don t have much
room to miss, making it more difficult to hunt. This also causes the animal to feel a lot of
unnecessary pain. This is why it is extremely important to use an air gun that has enough power
and big enough caliber to bring down big game in one single shot.

Soft Drinks Vs. High School
Since the last decade, Americans have been drinking more soda pop than ever before. Statistics
confirm that children are one of the heaviest consumers of soft drinks, and over 50% of children
above 8 years of age drink sodas daily, and a third of teenage boys in The United States of
America drink at least three cans of soda pop a day. It is obvious that soft drinks are a great
factor that leads to diabetes and obesity, but it is dreadful to know that over 60% of all public and
private middle schools and high schools nationwide now sell soft drinks with the aid of vending
machines and soda dispensers (QUOTE). Since it goes without saying that the authoritative figures
in ever middle school and high school only want the best for their students, I often found myself
wondering why the soft drinkcorporations were specifically targeting middle school and high school
children, when clearly, the several soft drink corporations have multiple regions in the United States
as well as overseas where they can attain large profits. Although soft drinks have been of interest to
several school children s palates, it seems suspicious that the children just dove straight for the
sodas, without any sort of instigation in physical form. By blaming the schools that purchase these
drinks only to gain popularity among their competitors, the adults and other such authoritative
figures have overlooked one pivotal question: Why do the soft drink industries direct their sales

The best example of personal branding is Micheal Jordan and his Jordan shoe line. MJ is one of,
if not, the greatest basketball players of all time. In the 1980s, due to MJ s success on the
basketball court, Nike shoes jumped on the chance to brand MJ with his own shoe and clothing
line series. In 1985 the Jordan shoe series was created and in 2014 brought in 2.25 billion dollars

million dollars that year. MJ made more money that year alone than he ever did from his basketball

Blindspot Stereotypes
These seemingly disparate demographics and, subsequently different portions of NBC s flow are
not as disjointed as they seem at first glance. There remain thematic threads and subtextual audience
assumptions that create coherence and flow as it now functions. The imagery of the jeopardy
opening, in which the camera soars over CGI oceans, islands and San Franciscan monuments,
evokes a theme of travel and adventure that is sustained throughout the portion of the schedule
analyzed, which actually builds off of this same theme created by the slow preceding it, Wheel of
Fortune which was giving out exotic trips as prizes. This sense of adventure establishes a slightly
more ambiguous demographic which can include younger viewers who, for a half hour, live
vicariously through the contestants, getting the same rush when answering questions as the
contestants do. This sense of adventure is upheld in the advertisements as well. The Taltz ad (V)
depicts happy consumers enjoying themselves in the great outdoors under blue skies, and the
various car commercials depict their vehicles offroading in the mountains of a wintry climate, (VI,
XIX, XXIX, XXXI). This pandering to those who would consider themselves adventurous continues
into the next program, Blindspot, and its advertisements. The plot of Blindspot provides a large
portion of the feeling of adventure... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Brief Note On Diabetes And Diabetic Patients
Homeostasis refers to stability, balance, or equilibrium within a cell or the body. It is the body s
ability to keep a constant internal environment. Homeostasis is an important characteristic of living
things. Keeping a stable internal environment requires constant adjustments as conditions change
inside and outside the cell. Homeostasis is crucial for the bodily systems because without it your
body would slowly fail. Failure to maintain body temperature would lead to hypothermia or
heatstroke. Failure to maintain energy balance would result in obesity and diabetes. Failure to
maintain calcium balance in the blood would lead to hypocalcemia or hypercalcemia. Failure to
maintain water balance would result in dehydration.
2.Why one of the risks of diabetes mellitus is the diabetic coma, which results when insufficient
glucose is present? IS it triggered by low or high levels of insulin? Explain.
There are 3 common causes of diabetic coma in diabetic patients. First being severe
hypoglycemia, this happens when the blood sugar level in the brain drops to a critical level.
Second is Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state (HHS), which is a condition characterized by
severe dehydration and very high blood glucose. A missed dose of insulin, acute infection or
injury, and heavy food or sugar intake are the most commonly causes of HHS severe enough to
lead to coma. The third cause of diabetic coma is ketoacidosis. This is mostly seen in people with
type 1 diabetes or those who are

Free Church Reflection Paper
Through attending The Free Chapel, I have been able to deepen my understanding of it works
into the fabric of social structure. Firstly, the church is located in Orange County, specifically
Irvine which has a vibrant religious scene. With a wide variety of churches to choose from in the
area, Free Chapel has to think of new and innovative ways to entice people to attend their church.
This is exemplified in the grandness of the church, and the modernness of the inside. When we
asked the pastor to tell us about the church, he said that they wanted the physical appearance of
Free Chapel to be excellent to be great, because Godis great. He also said that The Biblesays that
God judges by the inside, but people still judge but the outside. Embedded in this statement is the

Having this kind of status in society, has probably influenced the way that they have experienced
the world, and as a result has shaped what the Christian religion means to them. These similarities
in social class also means that the members of Free Church are able to better comprehend each
others point of view. On the other hand my partner and I noticed that although Free Church is
mainly European Americans, there were people from races and ethnicities represented. So in this
regard, the church may act as a vehicle through which people who come from different cultural and
social backgrounds are able to relate to each other. Furthermore, social life the church attempts to
integrate people into the small church community, in this way it acts as a small sub community
within the larger Orange County/ Irvine community. Also, people form the church often take the
lessons that they learn in church, and try and spread them to other people in the community, which
consequently links the larger community back to the

My Experience With Attending An Elite
My Experience with Attending an A.A. and Alanon Meeting As a part of our class assignment
we were presented with the idea of attending an A.A. and an Alanon meeting. After attending
these meetings, I found that they were more interesting than I could have imagined. I am not
quite sure what I expected, but the environment held a serene spirit that I normally encounter at
church. I attributed this fact, to the point that the name of God was called on often and the
people were singing his praises. Observing and listening to how people referenced or
acknowledged his presence helped them to refrain from drinking was just awesome. In this
paper, I will describe the environment where the meeting took place, how the meeting was
brought to order and its format, and the insight it provided me being a future counselor who will
have to make referrals. I participated in an AA and an Alanon meeting this week at the 623 club
in Belleville, IL. I was privy to attending the Alanon meeting first due to the nature of my
schedule. The facility where the meeting was held looked like a restaurant. I say that because it
was set up like an eating establishment with tables and chairs throughout the room accordingly. A
lady who was a part of the meeting supplied drinks, such as water, tea, soda and coffee from where
she stood behind a counter. Nevertheless, the meeting itself took place at the center table and it was
about thirteen of us on that day. I was a few minutes late and

The Issue Of American Patriotism
Nationalism and patriotism is a very touchy subject for some people just due to the fact of
everyone having their own opinion on what it means. Some people just do not know the
difference between the two, or just don t know if there even is a difference. They are very often
commonly confused as the same thing and I can see why at first glance, but after searching this
subject on many credible sources I have come to find many clarifying and interesting facts on this
particular topic.
First of all, the actual definition of American patriotism is the pride and devotion to one s
homeland. As everything does, there are pros and cons to being a patriot. For example, a pro
would be that it leads us to feel proud of and for our county. That ... Show more content on

Unless your knowledge is of a universal type, equally useful and valued anywhere; then it makes
no difference where you live, as long as you enjoy your life. Another being specialization;
patriotism instinctively guides citizens to discover their natural and cultural specialties: their own
resources, traditions, industries, and identity that has existed for ages. They will not imitate or
copy another country blindly. Loving a place makes one automatically love, learn, cherish, and
improve the special qualities about it/them. A couple of the others are commitment and security.
Most cons of patriotism fall under the category of centralization being harmful. They claim that
the benefits enjoyed by centralized countries will eventually be shared by everyone worldwide.
They say that it is not a big problem to desert some countries as long as citizens are happy and
successful elsewhere. They also claim that in over populated countries, or those with high
unemployment rates, its better when people leave. I do not neccesarily agree with all of this but I
do think the majority of the claims made are true.
Nationalism has two definitions that basically mean the same thing but one is more easily
understood. The more complicated version saying that

displays them as events on a single server. From one place, one can be able to access the log files
in any of the web servers of the business, all the databases, routers, load balancers, and firewalls
from all the companies operating systems. All the logs and configuration files can be accessed
and analyzed, as well all from one device. 3.7 Conversion of data into answers Splunk is used to
analyze the data gathered to offer solutions to the various problems that require its application
and involve many data. The software converts data into answers that are used by the business
organizations to effect changes. Web servers and load balances provide particular information
that is stored in the log files. This information is what people who use Splunk to provide the
required answers use. In the machine data, all the gathered information is represented as events.
When a user searches for a particular information, Splunk retrieves the particular event that match
the search made. The events are organized into fields. Data that Splunk read to give the answers
must have a particular time at which they occurred; the other requirement for the data is that it
must be textual and not binary. Splunk provides answers to problems such as the need to know
via email when the server load exceeds 80%. Splunk gives answers to such a problem by retrieving
all the events with loads that average 80% and

Cultural Norms In The Woman Warrior
A young Chinese American girl in the 1950 s would try to break out of her parents cultural norms
and prove to her parents that their thought process is invalid, and doesn t fit inside the parent s
patriarchal cultural mindset. The young Chinese American girl we follow throughout the story is,
Maxine Hong Kingston, and she believes that women aren t just to be married off and truly do
have a life of their own. The WomanWarrior is a book written by Maxine Hong Kingstonwrote a
book based on her own childhood events. As she breaks through these stereotypes, as she breaks
these stereotypes she learns through both Chinese cultural stories and familystories told by her
mother and father. Maxine would express throughout the story, the subtle word choice that her
mother would use to incline how Maxine should be lucky to be born and have a good life.... Show

Overcoming cultural, gender barriers is done in a number of forms and we see with Maxine it is

Reno V. ACLU Essay
In March of 1996, there was a federal court case of Reno v. ACLU, in which the American Library
Association had expert witnesses testifying on their behalf against the Communications Decency
Act in favor of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) among other organizations. This is
considered the first Supreme Court ruling on the guidelines for materials circulating via the
Internet. One of those expert witnesses was Robert Croneberger, who demonstrated to the three
judge panel on the near impossibility and labor intensive work required to scour all libraries of
sexual related references from their collection on March 22, 1996. On June 11th of 1996, that same
three judge panel deemed the CDA as unconstitutional, using Croneberger s testimony three times in
their decision.

Zamperini Argumentative Essay
Louie Zamperini is an example to follow. Not because he was an athlete or a solder, because of
his actions and motivations The most important, from my point of view, is his family. He would
ve done everything for them. That s the most important reason why he decided to change and by
the same way change others. The best example for that is when he stared running, he was doing
it for his mama, for his dad and Pete and his sisters, and that before doing it for himself. An other
example is when the Japanese gave him the opportunity to speak on radio, the first thing that he
did was speaking to his family and how much he missed them. Another remarkable thing that
Zamperini did was being the life of the raft. He was the one who was giving hope to

Many people define what friend is by their own definition such as a person attached to another
by feelings of affection or personal regard or people who are aware of how retarded you are and

people who cry for you when one of your special items disappear. when you dont have enough
money to get a ice cream, they chip in. knows all of your internet passwords. People who would
never make you cry just to be mean. For me, friend is someone who accept the way you are,
someone who always cheer you up, someone who always support you no matter your condition is.

friend that similar to you, you will never try new things that maybe also wonderful. Everything
would be bored for you because you always do the same thing and try the same thing. For example,
you like to eat ramen only in Ikudo Ichi, and your friend also eat ramen in Ikudo Ichi. Because
both of you have the same taste and habit, you always eat ramen there. You never try to eat ramen
in other restaurants like marugame udon. If you have friend that different from you, you will try
new wonderful things. You will learn to try something that you never try before. You will also find
your life more colourful with type friend like that. In the other side, there are also some

Summary Of Ayn Rand s Theory Of Rational Selfishness
I agree with Ayn Rand s theory of Rational Selfishness and with how she depicts altruism in terms
of the false idea of benevolence and the actuality of the true concept of self sacrifice. Before
reading this chapter of Rand s book, I labelled myself as an altruist, because I was raised under the
false interpretation of altruism, I believed it was about giving to those who were in need, even if
that meant you had to do without for the time being. My definition of selfishness was society s
misunderstood definition, living and operating only to accomplish and fulfill my desire. In the
article, The Ethics of Benign Selfishness by Tibor R. Machan he discusses the prominence of
altruism and states that one of the reasons why it is so commonly... Show more content on

It s not wrong to want to nurture my humanity and survive. The moral code of selfishness does
not support an individual who only focuses on themselves without the care for the interests and
wellbeing of others nor does it promote a deficiency in self care. Since the entire universe is
connected, no man can operate as an island, human survival involves taking care of one s own
well being as well as your neighbors. So, self interest could never be the motivation for the
actions and choices made by all individuals because then society wouldn t progress. As Midgley
said, it is one aspect of life; but in my opinion, the motivation behind our actions and choices, is

What Is The Tone In Killing Chicken
title A sibling is only missed once he or she has moved out. The donut isn t nearly as good when
it is being eaten, as it seems to be once it is gone. Things are easily taken for granted, as seen in
Meredith Hall s Killing Chickens. Hall incorporates her own personal stories, heartache,
expirences, and family to reveal to the reader the act and effect of underappreciation. Through
short syntax, imagery, and a distant tone, Hall shows how easy it is for things to be taken for
granted. The first technique used to show theme is short syntax. Hall reveals her vulnerability, I am

divorcing. They were stunned to scilence. Though these short, each senence carries a lot of weight.
The author gives insight about the responsibility she now has, from being totally independent to
being a single mother. Hall uses this short syntax to get her message across, and each sentencehas
full meaning and is impactful. But I am going to do it myself. This is just one little thing in all
the things I am going to have to learn to do alone. I have five more to go (Hall). The impact of

  • 2. Ed Gein Essay This paper is based on the life of Ed Gein. He was an unusual character, born on a farm, and raised by a religious crazy, domineering mother. In the space of a few years his entire family passed away and he was left to take care of his farm all by himself. In the next few years he became a grave robber, a necrophiliac, a cannibal, and also took up arts and crafts in body parts. He is known as one of the weirdest serial killersof the twentieth century. He also inspired movies like Psycho, Silence of The Lambs, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Ed Gein/Page 4 Profile Name Edward Ed Gein. He went to an old friend by the name of Gus, who was a loner and odd as well. Gus was Ed s trusted friend, he agreed to assist in digging up the body for medical experiments . His first corpse was less than 12 feet away from his mother s grave. Over the next 10 years Ed did the same thing look up obituaries in the local newspaper and dig up fresh corpses on a full moon. He would take the whole corpse or just the parts that he needed at the time. His experiments with dead bodies were bizarre. He would construct objects with the bones and skin and the organs and meats were stored in the fridge to eat and give as fresh venison to his neighbors. He would commit acts of necrophilia on the bodies. He even dug up his own mother s corpse! Ed Gein/ Page 7 Wanting To Be A Woman Ed Gein never told Gus that he wanted to be a woman. That s why he studied anatomy. He was always telling people about operations that resulted in a change of sex. Ed was always desiring to dissect female corpses and familiarize himself with its anatomy. The closest he got was to wear a full body suit made of women skin, breasts and face included. His collections of trophies got larger, and so did the range of his experimentation and obsession. Gus was then taken to an asylum, and Ed was then left alone again. Ed thought that fresher bodies would be better for his collection so he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. In Defense of Liberty and Individuality Essay In Defense of Liberty and Individuality It is a little known fact that for the past century, every American president has been given a copy of John Stuart Mill s On Liberty[1] upon entering office. Since its publication in 1859, On Liberty s discussions of liberty and individuality have been a foundation for modern Western political thought and for the liberal democracy. Mill brings to light a unique perspective on the relationship between liberty and individuality, and in the end, on tolerance. According to Mill, individual libertyshould be limited by one, and only one thing: the self preservation of society and other individuals. To that end, man should be free to act and even more so to think in any form he wishes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The aim, therefore, of patriots, was to set limits to the power which the ruler should be suffered to exercise over the community; and this limitation was what they meant by liberty (On Liberty, 4). These reforms were leading to the democratization of culture and government the transition that Mill sees around him putting power in the hands of the people. This was supposed to remove the possibility of tyranny, but Mill is not convinced. He sees two types of tyranny unaccounted for: tyranny of the majority, where the many persecute the few, and tyranny of public opinion, in which society seeks to impose a set of values on everyone. [T]he tyranny of the majority is now generally included among the evils against which society requires to be on guard (On Liberty, 6). Mill sees the need for laws to protect against both types of tyranny. After noting that many nations have tried and failed at this feat, he offers his own solution. Society or an individual may interfere with individual rights if and only if it is necessary to protect itself. [T]he sole end for which mankind are warranted, individually or collectively, in interfering with the liberty of action of any of their members, is self protection...[h]is own good, either physical or moral, is not a sufficient warrant (On Liberty, 11). Mill uses a Hobbesian notion of self preservation as the cornerstone of his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Change Of Leaf Color Typically, as nature starts the transformation process from summer to fall, the green leaves on the trees begin to change into colors of reds, golds, browns, and oranges. Eventually, the leaves fall off the trees onto the ground. Three factors contribute to the change in leaf color according to USDA s Northeastern Area Forest Service website, which include leaf pigments, length of night, and weather. The increasing length of night and other ecological influences such as the temperature, rainfall, and food supply trigger the biochemical process of the leaves (na.fs.fed.us). Photosynthesis occurs in the chloroplasts of the leaves. A chloroplast is a type of plant cell organelle known as a plastid. Plastids support the storing of the needed ingredients for energy production. A chloroplast contains a green pigment called chlorophyll which is the agent that gives leaves their green color. Chlorophyll is important to the photosynthesis process as it is the chemical reaction that facilitates plants to use sunlight to produce sugars for their food (biology.about.com). During the emergent season, chlorophyll is repetitively produced and broken down, which causes the leaves to appear green in color. As the nights grow longer, the production of chlorophyll diminishes and eventually ceases production. Depending on the type of plant, as the chlorophyll becomes dormant, the color of the leaves begins to change to reds, browns, yellows, and oranges (na.fs.fed.us). Nature.com describes ... • 5. Wind Farm Essay Katie Stevenson News Editor @KatieSStevenson Nodaway county has approved a new, 23,000 acre, wind farm for which construction will begin in 2019. This decision came after the Nodaway County Enhanced Enterprise Zone (EEZ) committee approved the tax adjustment application from Tenaska Clear Creek Wind. The turbines will be north of Gray s Truck Stop, continuing to the Iowa border and just west of Pickering Missouri. According to Monte Ten Kley, Director, Strategic Development Acquisitions at Tenaska the project began in 2008 but Tenaska was not involved until the summer of 2016 and has recently really started to take off. The remainder can continue to be used in its current state, such as for farming or grazing. This is another cash crop for landowners that participate in the project, thereby helping to stabilize farm incomes. Yet, according to Ten Kley Tenaska wants to be an integral part of the Maryville community instead of simply helping the economy. Additionally, Tenaska is known for being a good business neighbor in communities where its plants operate, Ten Kley said. Those facilities have a long standing record of support for broad based community programs, including food pantries and local Scout troops, and employees donate thousands of hours of time annually to community projects, from serving on school boards to tutoring students and coaching athletics. According to the United States Energy Information Administration (EIA) as of 2016, Missouri had 659 megawatts of wind generating capacity online, another 300 megawatts being built, and substantial additional wind energy potential, primarily in the state s northwest. According to Ten Kley the Missouri and the Midwest have some of the best areas for wind farms. The Midwest has some of the best wind resources in the nation and recent advances in turbine technology have continued to increase the feasibility and cost competitiveness of wind projects in Missouri, Ten Kley said. These changes, along with the notable wind resource in Nodaway County, has made the area ideal for locating a wind powered electric ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shawangunk Mountain Formation Abstract: Determining the location of the Shawangunk Mountain formation from our position on the outcrop can demonstrate a lot about the upbringing of this formation. The Shawangunk Formation, consisting of quartz pebble conglomerate from the Middle Silurian age, extends from south of the Hudson Valley down south until Virginia. The vanishing of the formation within the area of Rosendale, NY has led to investigations of tectonic events. Due to the Taconic orogeny, we see the formation of the Shawangunk Mountains being formatted. • 7. Essay On Gerrymandering When looking at a map of the United States, it can be seen that it is very cut and dry. The borders of states are straight, cut at right angles, and distributes the land proportionally. The same cannot be seen or said for Congressional districts. The intention is to evenly divide up the States even further but instead, it is based on the state populations. It can also be apparent that the drawing of the districts in recent years has been less than about population numbers, but as to who the population votes for. Representation including district boundaries is known as the practice of gerrymandering. So in the process of setting districts, gerrymandering is a practice attempting to establish a political advantage for a particular group.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was not until 1964 in the case of Reynolds vs Sims that found An individual s right to vote for state legislators is unconstitutionally impaired when its weight is in a substantial fashion when compared with votes of citizens living in other parts of the State (Reynolds v Sims), which came as a result of discriminatory representation in the state of Alabama. This case however, only outlines unlawful practice in a narrow fashion, not giving full width to the possible practices. Districts can still be redrawn in ways that give one group a large advantage over their competitors. It is described that Voters in seven states...have turned to such commissions in an effort to reduce political gerrymandering, the map drawing method that leads to districts easily won by Democrats or Republicans (Wolf). This is why we see districts drawn in such illogical patterns that render the minority groups, most likely powerless. This can also allow the minority group to unlikely win. Only when race seems to be the predominant factor in the apportionment, do these redistribution schemes face any legal action, being at risk with the 14th Amendment. It is very easily possible to give a win to a minority party because of these practices. In North Carolina, where the two party House vote was fifty one percent Democratic, forty nine percent Republican, the average simulated delegation was seven Democrats and ... In the essay What is Intelligence Anyway? the author Isaac Asimov shows how despite what popular consensus is, whether a person is considered intelligent or not will depend on the subject at hand. There is no denying that he is right about this. Asimov talks about his conversations with his auto mechanic and how he was considered intelligent due to how he scored on some tests while his mechanic would do poorly on the test. Despite that Asimov admits he doesn t understand the first thing about cars. This would mean that Asimov is intelligent by school standards but not by automobile standards. • 10. Wife Of Bath Feminism Essay Feminism in the Wife of Bath Prologue In her prologue from The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, the Wife of Bath portrays a different take on the typical medieval woman. By doing so she is confirming negative stereotypes about women from this time and demonstrating that they are in fact deceitful and manipulative. Although at first her actions may seem revolutionary, she is just a tool used by Chaucer to mock women during this time period rather than empower them. Even just based solely on the way she is introduced in her prologue, she appears as if she uses her sexual attributes for personal gain instead of trying to show her equal status. Overall this female character is supposed to be seen as a parody since she embodies numerous negative female stereotypes such as, deceitfulness, stupidity, and arrogance. I praye you, telleth me / Or where he commanded virginitee? (lines 65 68). She is justifying her bad behavior with the Bible and her misinterpretations of it and this makes her appear dumb rather than educated. Integrity, power, and privilege all work together to create many of the situations that arise. Litchfield prison is made up of white male officers, and different racial groups that are clearly divided. For each race, loosely made up of: blacks, latinos, whites, others , and a group of older women known as the golden girls , there is a sector of living. Blacks in one block, with a bathroom only for them, whites in another, etc. Conflict theory and symbolic interactionism are both excellent theories to examine this series by. Conflict theory, a multi part theory about both raceand gender, is applicable to Orange Is The New Black because of the degrading treatment of the women and the denial of their basic feminine needs. Symbolic interactionism can be applied to most situations that occur in the show. Through these theories social interactions in Orange Is The New Black can be looked at and better understood. Privilege can be applied to many different situations throughout the show. Racial privilege, gender privilege, class privilege, etc. A common theme of privilege throughout Orange Is The New Black is racial privilege. This is shown through the cleanliness of the living quarters and punishment given across races. SHU (solitary confinement) is much more readily handed out to black inmates over any other race. • 13. The Glorious Revolution in England of 1688 The Glorious Revolution in England of 1688 James II succession to the throne of England came without protest of any kind. James II was the son of Charles I and younger brother to Charles II. In January of 1649, Charles I, King of England, went on trial and was convicted as a Tyrant, Traitor, Murderer, and public enemy to the good people of this nation. (Cannon, pg. 385) On 7 February 1649, Charles II was proclaimed King of Great Britain. While Charles II was in office, he began to develop a form of government that existed without the parliament. In 1685, when Charles II brother, James II, took over, James continued with the trend in government that his brother set into action. From the Restoration of Charles II in 1660 to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence, the Glorious Revolution earned the name the Bloodless Revolution. This was the first revolution where a king was dismounted without any bloodshed (Israel, pg. 432 40). As the Glorious Revolution ended, England was forced into an immediate conflict with Louis XIV of France. James II, a Catholic king, had been disposed of, and a Protestant king, William, husband of Mary, James s daughter, had taken over. Louis and James were able to get along but William and Louis were not. They began a war over what is now present day Belgium. Belgium was a key place for fortresses and harbors (Kissinger, pg.71). Though the revolution itself may have been bloodless, it caused much unrest in England. Old stresses between the King and Parliament, Church and Dissent, appeared to be undiminished and were joined by bitter divisions over the succession of William III and Mary II. This involved rebellion and war in Ireland and Scotland, and plots, riots, and insurrection in England (Hoppit, pg. 2). It is very doubtful whether many of the revolutionaries of 1688 foresaw the consequences of their actions in terms of England s relations with foreign powers. Before the revolution, England was largely pro French and anti Dutch. After 1688, France was to become more or less a permanent enemy. The Nine Years War was actually a war spawned from the Glorious Revolution between England and France (Morgan, pg. 353 56). After James II was relieved of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Conservation and Preservation at the Turn of the 19th Century Missing Works Cited The environmentalist movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries presents a picture of America at the time: torn between the desires to expand while seeking to protect nature. Although all members of the movement sought to protect nature, there were two predominant schools as to how to go about this. In their two philosophies, they created two methods for human interaction with the wilderness. The conservationist movement can be called the utilitarian movement, and sought the greatest good for the greatest number over the longest term. Thus he traveled to Germany to study forestry theory in Germany and England. The time spent in Europe formed the foundation of his beliefs on conservation and through him those of the conservationist movement. Pinchot left Europe with some convictions about forestry. He had learned... that trees are a crop... Pinchot brought the gospel that forestry was the art of using a forest without destroying it... [He] preached that through the use of proper methods a forest could be both harvested and preserved. (McGeary 23) This conviction reveals the underlying theory to all of the conservation movement, that nature should be viewed in the confines of its economic value. For example, Pinchot s policy did not allow for the continuation of old growth forests, but demanded that they be cut down and let new trees to grow back in their place. He clashed repeatedly during his career with conservationists who were basically devoted to preserving the trees. (McGeary 87) To understand where the motivation and passion to protect the environment was developed, one looks to the rapid deforestation of East Coast old growth forests at the turn of the century. By using the advantages of the microstrip patch antenna and L probe feeding technique, hexagonal patch is etched on a square microstrip antenna to achieve broad bandwidth and improved gain. In this Project, MSA is designed with dual substrates, one for L probe other for radiating patch. 4.1 Design Specifications The three essential parameters for the design of a rectangular Microstrip Patch Antenna: Frequency of operation (fo): The resonant frequency of the antenna must be selected appropriately. The WLAN band uses the frequency range from 2.4 GHz to 5.28 GHZ. Hence the antenna designed must be able to operate in this frequency range. The resonant frequency selected for design is 2.4 GHz. Dielectric constant of the substrate (Оµr): The dielectric material selected for our design is FR4 which has a dielectric constant of 4.4. Since California expects El Nino projections appear to affect the San Joaquin Project since we would get more water and easier to continue the project. • 34. Is Punishment Justified When punishment is only justified as a response to moral fault, obstinate questions may arise as to the justification of punishment. This is what this piece seek to critically assess as it takes the stand that punishment is justifiable when it is a response to moral fault. There are many definitions of punishmentas there are many philosophers and how they view punishment. However a few definitions are accepted and well known worldwide. Punishment is some pain or penalty warranted by law, inflicted on a person, for the commission of a crimeor misdemeanor, or for the omission of the performance of an act required by law, by the judgment and command of some lawful court . The body of this piece is divided into three parts in which the first part will discuss the theories and philosophies of retributivism. The second part will discuss my view on the topic, The Justification of Punishment as a Response to Moral Fault . The last part however will discuss and contrast retributivism to consequentialism. The philosophy behind Justification of Punishment pursues to explain why punishment should exist and why it has to be justified. Hence Justification of punishment usually takes two camps, the Retributivism camp and Consequentialism camps.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 35. Trial by Media Chapter I Introductory The subject of Trial by Media is discussed by civil rights activists, Constitutional lawyers, judges and academics almost every day in recent times. With the coming into being of the television and cable channels, the amount of publicity which any crime or suspect or accused gets in the media has reached alarming proportions. Innocents may be condemned for no reason or those who are guilty may not get a fair trial or may get a higher sentence after trial than they deserved. There appears to be very little restraint in the media in so far as the administration of criminal justice is concerned. Zee Telefilms (IA 8185/2003 in Suit No. 1543/2003 dated 24.1.2005) aptly describe the state of affairs of today s media. He says that journalism and ethics stand apart. While journalists are distinctive facilitators for the democratic process to function without hindrance the media has to follow the virtues of accuracy, honesty, truth, objectivity, fairness, balanced reporting, respect or autonomy of ordinary people . These are all part of the democratic process. But practical considerations, namely, pursuit of successful career, promotion to be obtained, compulsion of meeting deadlines and satisfying Media Managers by meeting growth targets, are recognized as factors for the temptation to print trivial stories salaciously presented . In the temptation to sell stories, what is presented is what public is interested in rather than what is in public interest . Suspects and accused apart, even victims and witnesses suffer from excessive publicity and invasion of their privacy rights. Police are presented in poor light by the media and their morale too suffers. The day after the report of crime is published; media says Police have no cue . Then, whatever gossip the media gathers about the line of investigation by the official agencies, it gives such publicity in respect of the information that the person who has indeed committed the crime, can move away to safer places. This piece has the same soft qualities including the focus on volume instead of definition, especially with the breasts, where the nipples are not even present, but the volume of each breast is beautifully molded to appear full and smooth. Aristide Maillol was born in 1861 in a pink house in Banyuls ser Mer to a family of fisherman and vine growers. It is this home, sandwiched between the Mediterranean Sea and the Alberes mountains, where Maillol would spend his whole life, in the old village with its labyrinth of narrow lanes, amid the green Pyrenean foothills full of vines, trees and mimosas, and beyond, the snowcapped summits in the distance. This is the place that would shape the expressive qualities of the artist s sculptures, as well as form his ideal conception of woman, which would be his primary subject. This isolated little village in the countryside was a location where a good decent girl would never be nude or scandalous, where conservative families survived off of both the sea and the vines. Maillol s life in the countryside is evident in his work, including The Three Graces. He retains a rustic ingenuousness in his work, something calm, self possessed not feverish or frantic. It is obvious that soft drinks are a great factor that leads to diabetes and obesity, but it is dreadful to know that over 60% of all public and private middle schools and high schools nationwide now sell soft drinks with the aid of vending machines and soda dispensers (QUOTE). Although soft drinks have been of interest to several school children s palates, it seems suspicious that the children just dove straight for the sodas, without any sort of instigation in physical form. Keeping a stable internal environment requires constant adjustments as conditions change inside and outside the cell. Homeostasis is crucial for the bodily systems because without it your body would slowly fail. Failure to maintain body temperature would lead to hypothermia or heatstroke. Failure to maintain energy balance would result in obesity and diabetes. Failure to maintain calcium balance in the blood would lead to hypocalcemia or hypercalcemia. Failure to maintain water balance would result in dehydration. 2.Why one of the risks of diabetes mellitus is the diabetic coma, which results when insufficient glucose is present? IS it triggered by low or high levels of insulin? Explain. There are 3 common causes of diabetic coma in diabetic patients. First being severe hypoglycemia, this happens when the blood sugar level in the brain drops to a critical level. Second is Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state (HHS), which is a condition characterized by severe dehydration and very high blood glucose. A missed dose of insulin, acute infection or injury, and heavy food or sugar intake are the most commonly causes of HHS severe enough to lead to coma. My Experience With Attending An Elite My Experience with Attending an A.A. and Alanon Meeting As a part of our class assignment we were presented with the idea of attending an A.A. and an Alanon meeting. After attending these meetings, I found that they were more interesting than I could have imagined. I am not quite sure what I expected, but the environment held a serene spirit that I normally encounter at church. I attributed this fact, to the point that the name of God was called on often and the people were singing his praises.
