1. Quotes Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Quotes" can be both a challenging and rewarding endeavor.
On the one hand, the abundance of quotes available provides a rich pool of material to draw
from, offering profound insights, wit, and wisdom from various thinkers throughout history.
However, navigating through this vast sea of quotations to create a coherent and compelling
essay requires a delicate balance of selection, interpretation, and integration.
The initial challenge lies in the selection process. Choosing the right quotes that not only align
with the theme but also contribute to a cohesive narrative is akin to picking gems from a treasure
trove. The array of perspectives, genres, and contexts can make this task overwhelming. One
must carefully evaluate each quote's relevance, credibility, and potential to enhance the overall
message of the essay.
Furthermore, the interpretation of these quotes is an intricate task. It involves delving into the
nuances of language, understanding the context in which the words were spoken or written, and
deciphering the underlying meanings. Connecting the dots between disparate quotes and
synthesizing them into a unified thesis adds another layer of complexity. The challenge is not just
to present a collection of quotes but to weave them together into a seamless tapestry of ideas.
Additionally, integrating the quotes into the essay smoothly is an art in itself. Balancing the
voice of the essay with the voices of the quoted individuals requires finesse. The transitions
between your thoughts and the borrowed wisdom must be seamless, ensuring that the essay
maintains a coherent flow. The danger of sounding disjointed or losing the originality of your
voice looms large, requiring careful attention to detail.
In conclusion, tackling a "Quotes Essay" demands more than just stringing together a series of
profound statements. It involves the meticulous curation of quotes, thoughtful interpretation, and
skillful integration into a well-structured narrative. While challenging, the process offers an
opportunity to engage deeply with the thoughts of others and create a unique synthesis of ideas.

2. Retirement Plan Proposal and Communication Plan Essay
Retirement Plan Proposal and Communication Plan HRM/324 Retirement Plan
Proposal and Communication Plan Retirement pensions provides a source of
retirement income employees can draw on after they stop working, they have to
invest for retirement while they are still on the job (Lightbulb Financial, 2013). To
take advantage of the opportunity to accumulate tax deferred earnings and in some
cases defer taxes on their contributions as well, employees can participate in
employer sponsored retirement plans and invest in individual retirement accounts
(IRAs) that they set up on their own (Lightbulb Financial, 2013). This paper will
propose several types of retirement plans that could be offered to employees. In

A 401(k) plan, so named for the section of the Internal Revenue Code describing
the requirements, is a savings plan in which employees are allowed to defer
income up to a $12,000 maximum (which increases by $1,000 a year from 2003 to
2006, with amounts indexed for inflation thereafter) (Milkovich and Newman,
2008). Employers typically match employee savings at a rate of 50 cents on the
dollar. Defined contribution plans are more popular than defined benefit plans in
both small and large companies (Milkovich and Newman, 2008). Historically these
plans are faster to vest (the companies matched share of the contribution
permanently shifts over to employee ownership, and they are more portable job
hopping employees can take their pension accruals along to the next job)
(Milkovich and Newman, 2008). The second type of plan is an employee stock
ownership plan (ESOP) (Milkovich and Newman, 2008). In a basic ESOP a
company makes a tax deductible contribution of stock shares or cash to a trust
(Milkovich and Newman, 2008). The trust then allocates company stock (or stock
bought with cash contributions) to participating employee accounts (Milkovich and
Newman, 2008). The amount allocated is based on employee earnings (Milkovich
and Newman, 2008). When an ESOP is used as a pension vehicle (as opposed to an
incentive program), the employees receive cash at retirement based upon the stock
value at that time (Milkovich and
3. Indira Gandhi was a Loved, Hated, and Respected Leader
of...
All my games were political games; I was, like Joan Of Arc, perpetually being
burned at the stake. These are meaningful words of the ever so loved, hated, and
looked up to woman of India: Indira Gandhi. Indira Ghil;678andhi, as the late prime
minister of India, is still is remembered to this day for the impact she had on the
world. As the prime minister of India during a time of political turmoil and being a
vulnerable target, it was hard for her to use her power for benefits. Although the
obstacles that made her struggle, she maintained standing her ground and ended up
leading India to where they are today politically. Indira Gandhi was born on
November 19, 1917 to Jawaharlal Nehruand Kamala Nehru. Indira was practically
born into the political world. Her father, Jawaharlal Nehru, was the first prime
minister of India. Indira was constantly around politics and became very used to
the idea of what being a prime minister is like. Indira was mostly taught by tutors in
her home growing up. When she did attend school it was not year round. This let
her spend as much time at home with one on one tutors as much as she needed to.
As a child, the only time she was around her father was when he wasn t away
because of his job. Most of her childhood, she was home with her mother, Kamala. It
was hard for Indira most of the time because while her father was always working
and not home, her mother was bed ridden because of multiple illnesses. Although her

4. Examples Of A Hero In Graceanne
Graceanne just barely stopped the bus from crashing. The lives of many young
children were on the line, and only one person was brave enough to jump to the
rescue. The only thing this young teen was thinking of was making sure these kids
got home safely. What makes up a hero, and why are they so influential? Graceanne
is an example of a hero: someone who is selfless, undaunted, and dedicated. A
selfless person is one who puts others before himself, more involved in the concerns
of others. A hero is not selfish, but instead cares more about the needs of the people
who cannot save themselves. In the wise words of Mahatma Gandhi, The best way
to find yourself, is to lose yourself in the service of others. As an example for
servicing others, in the titanic, the engineers knew the ship was going under. The
engineers decided that it was better to sacrifice the few rather than the many. They
kept the ship working/afloat for as long as possible, to ensure the survival of the
majority of passengers. None of the engineers made it off that boat alive. What
they did will be remembered for decades, they were born ordinary and died a hero.
Anyone can be a hero, as Bob Riley says, Hard times don t create heroes. It s during
the hard times when the hero within us is revealed. To elaborate, everyone can be a
hero, whereas so few people actually figure out and embrace the hero inside. Heroes
are ordinary people who make themselves extraordinary (Gerard Way). An undaunted

5. Battle Of Trenton And The American Revolutionary War
Abstract
Battle of Trenton was analyzed to ascertain what Military Intelligence assets could
have been used to provide a different outcome to the battle for the British forces. The
Battle of Trenton is widely considered to be the turning point of the American
Revolutionary War. If the British Commander had used his intelligence assets
appropriately, it could have led to a different outcome to the battle. A different
outcome would have changed the course of the war and possibly led to a British
victory.

the British forces from escaping. George Washington would lead the main attack

6. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Build-Then-Sell
1.1Introduction
Build then sell (BTS) concept and adoption of the system had been discussed and
debated a long time by various construction and properties related parties in
Malaysia. The idea was originally mooted in the 1980s and since then various
attempts to implement the system had met with dead ends (BTS Review, USM, Nor
Aini). However the system was proposed again by our previous Malaysia Prime
Minister, Tun Abdullah Bin Ahmad Badawi as a way to promote better quality
housing and provide greater protection for home buyers. Therefore, the BTS delivery

9. Analysis Of Jeannie Gunn s We Of The Never Had
Today, social media is one of the central outlets that people use to communicate and
gather information. On social media, individuals like, pin, retweet, and more to
express their satisfaction or disapproval regarding the global happenings and their
personal worlds. On Twitter, sub tweeting is a form of gossip and has caused much
discord between individuals. At the end of the nineteenth and beginning of the
twentieth century, another form of technology, telegramming, functioned as a form
of gossip. In Jeannie Gunn s autobiographical narrative, We of the Never Never
(1907), the telegram is a turn of the century form of social media, serving as a
major tool in communication and the barometer of the social climate of the text.
The telegrams embedded in the text expose the private messages that are under the
surface of written text. While telegrams would not have been a new invention when
Jeannie Gunn wrote this account of her experiences in the early twentieth century,
as being one of the first white women in her part of the bush, telegrams were still
vital to the success of colonization in the harsh conditions of Australia. This paper
will describe the critical role of the telegram in the colonization of Australia through
an analysis of Gunn s text and its historical context. Also, I will analyze the role that
gossip plays in Gunn s fashioning and portrayal of herself in the novel. Additionally,
I will examine how Gunn is able to exist outside of the wired space and to
10. Landscape in The Sea Gull a Novel by Anton Chekhov Essay
Anton Chekhov s The Sea Gull is a Russian comedy, despite some tragedy, written
in the end of the nineteenth century regarding the drama revolving around a group
of people living in the countryside. The characters face the lack of satisfaction in
their lives as they fail to achieve their desires. The characters desires are most about
success; they desire success in loveand art. Since these characters are lacking at least
one of these desires, they are thus left to be loathing their lack of success in life
throughout the play. Overall, The Sea Gull does exemplify the human disappointment
through the characters which face disappointment or dissatisfaction with their lives

Masha becomes another medium for addressing human disappointment, and
effectively shows this disappointment when she is talking about Treplev. Treplev
himself is yet another example of disappointment and struggle from lack of love
since he is trying to please to his mother, Arkadina, although this love is more of a
family matter rather than a relationship when she shows disapproval of him by
criticizing his play and states he is a conceited, capricious boy (117). These three
examples provide evidence of Anton Chekhov s address to disappointment by
showing the disappointment of love in The Sea Gull through characters and their
actions; examples to this disappointment are not just limited as the whole play
contains many romance triangles that lead to disappointment. Next, human
disappointment also extends to the characters desire for success in art and most
prevalent with Treplev, Arkadina, and Trigorin. Treplev is the son of Arkadina and
is a member of the Russian social elites. He was born the son of a famous action. In
The Sea Gull, Treplev attempts to start a new form of theater. He writes a play that
would reference humanity and its disappointment and symbolism.Treplev also
includes the senses as part of his play through materials such as sulfur to instigate
reaction. His plan for the new form of theater however did not have his intended
reaction by the audience as his mother commented
11. College Student Athletes
College sport programs are beginning to have more of a negative effect on
education for numerous reasons. Some of those reasons are that athletes are not
able to participate in games due to ineligibility, other people are doing the athletes
homework, and athletes do not study or do their homework do to games being on
the same day or the following day. Now every student athlete has to meet the
requirements of passing all of their classes to be able to participate in their sporting
events. The required grade point average (GPA) that a collegestudent athlete has to
maintain is a 2.3. As a former student athlete, I know the struggles of trying to keep
your grades up to par and to be completely honest, I found it is very easy to keep my
grades at the eligibility requirements during high school. Even in college it is not the
hardest of thing to keep your GPA at the passing requirement because the athletes are
able to use tutors whenever they need the help. However, even the most gifted of
athletes may not be the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone always hears stories about how athletes are paying other people to do
their homework because they do not want to do it themselves. Student athletes
could do their cheating from plagiarizing a paper or even cheating on a test or quiz.
The major concern with a student athlete cheating is that they are at the risk at
failing the class if they get caught or even getting kicked out of college because the
professors will not tolerate cheating at all. There are a few athletes who will even
pay someone else to do their homework because they can get a better grade if they
pay someone to do if for them. All of those reasons have a major negative effect on
education because the student athletes are just wasting their own time at college by
not putting in the effort to do their work and benefit their
12. The Crisis Center Hotline Looking For Immediate Shelter
The client, Julie*, called into the Crisis Center Hotline looking for immediate
shelter for herself and her two young children. At that time, our shelter was not full
and therefore had space for the mother and her children. I went through the
procedural routine of making sure that she was not in the center s blue books, a
record of clients not allowed to receive shelter and/or services, and seeing if she had
an alpha card already completed, this would mean that she was a previous client at
the shelterand already had a file. Julie* did was not found in either source. At that
point, I began to complete the shelter intake paperwork with her over the phone.
The first two pages of the intake are completed first with the client. These pages
find out more about the client s demographics, her current physical and mental
health state, how many children she has and if she could be pregnant at the time,
her abuser s demographics, and the presenting primary abuse occurring. I
completed these two pages with Julie* and then from that point an approval staff
member will tell you if you can complete the rest of the intake or tell the client that
at the time we cannot offer them services. Julie* was approved to complete the rest
of the intake paperwork. The majority of the rest of the intake paperwork is a more
detailed explanation of the first two pages. These pages help the approval staff and I
see if the client raises any major concerns and allows us to prepare for her stay
13. Mrs. Flowers s Influence On American History
Over the course of the traditional American public education from kindergarten
through high school graduation, a student will have more than fifty teachers. Many of
these educators are easily forgotten, but there are always some whose influence
makes a lasting impression. One of those memorable educators taught seventh grade
American history. Thirty years later, her name still comes up in conversation among
former students. There was no formal character educationcurriculum in practice, but
Jane Flowers instilled essential virtues in her students even as she was lecturing about
the nation s history.

all students. She started conversations with her students ... Show more content on

Flowers has been a mentor for me. She exemplifies the finest qualities of respect and
compassion for students. I often reflect on my seventh grade year in her class, and I
try to provide the same moral influence for my own students, knowing that each child
has worth and dignity. It has been my experience that students are likely to buy into
the values that the teacher demonstrates and exemplifies.
Many students come to school without a solid moral and ethical foundation because it
has not been a priority at home. The lack thereof must not be used as an excuse.
Educators must assume the responsibility to be effective caregivers, moral models,
and ethical mentors. Successful character education is an integral part of a school s
culture, most effective when the virtues are integrated into the academic curriculum
(Dean, 2014).
Character education is the foundation on which students will be equipped to make
wise decisions and smart life choices (Lickona, 2003). Mrs. Flowers contributed
significantly to building this foundation for generations of students. In addition to
teaching the basics of American history, she was a compassionate caregiver, a moral
model, and an ethical mentor to her students. Character education was a priority, and
the impact of her teaching was enduring. Mrs. Flowers is, without a doubt, a leader
in the area of character
14. Past Mistakes Of America Research Paper
Americans have a habit of not paying attention to History. Americans learn in school
that history is important because we can learn from our past mistake, but that is not
all there is to it. Learning from past mistake is not all to our histories importance.
History has a big influence on people who study it, so it is not just about learning it
to pass a class, but it is about the impact it makes on Americans.
Whether we like it or not, history is always going to be there. There was a journey
America took to get where we are today. Today the US is one of the most developed
countries in the world. We have so many resources to become even more successful,
but Americans tend to not notice one of the best resources, which is our history. We
have new technology that allows us to see more and more of the past. We can look
back and see mistakes that were made, and what success we had, and now we have
the opportunity to do avoid past mistakes and carry out the success. So yes, our
teachers were right. We learn history to avoid making the same or similar mistakes,
but not only that. One can see what success America has made and make it even
greater. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is why it is so important to learning our history. Some would say that America
is going downhill, but all we have to do is look at what we had in the past and see
how good it was. We should stand together and remember how America was built,
and what we were built to stand for. We have to know where we even started and to
get back to it, and we need to know what we were in the past to know who we are
15. The Horror Genre Essay
The Horror Genre
The horror genre is a topic that can be written or filmed about. In this essay, I will
be concentrating on films, and how the horror genre is included in them. The main
ingredients in a horror film are music, sound effects, lighting, camera trickery special
effects and most importantly a clever, catchy, scary script. But to make horror what
it is, a director will include many other things that create suspense and the eerie
atmosphere of the scene, or simply make us cringe. The prop are not just there to fill
space, the costumes aren t chosen because the character had to wear something or the
film done at night because the filming finished late. I will explain the reasons these ...

The viewer will feel sorry for the victim, and feel hatred towards the murderer,
getting him or her involved in the film how often have you been watching a film
and the person sat next to you starts saying Yes! Yes! Kill him! or Don t be stupid!
It s obvious he s guilty! I certainly have (usually my mum). If the victim is female,
she is often attractive, making male viewers like her and then angry when she is
killed, again getting angry with the murderer. Once a person has started getting
involved in a film, they won t want to stop watching it they ll want to see the guilty
murderer get caught, or killed.
Of course, in a horror film not all characters are real and nor are the events. Camera
trickery, special effects and make up add to the realism of a good horror film. The
lighting adds emphasis to make up, a character s personality or a frightening scene.
If something surprising happens, such as a hideous monster jumping out on
someone, up lighting will be used. This is when the lights are shone from the floor,
up onto something, e.g.. under someone s chin. This causes no shadows on the
person s face, making it seem big and bright, thus often scary. This usually makes a
person jump, increasing the thrill of the film. Otherwise, down lighting can be used
to make a person
16. Hamlet Loss Of His Father Analysis
Like any other human Hamlet has experienced the loss of his father. Although the
loss of a loved one is a very common feeling that every person will experience,
Hamlet had lost his father and his mother even though she was still alive. She
betrayed his by marrying Hamlet s father within the same week as his father, her
husband, passing. Also Hamlethad to watch his uncle become the new King. Hamlet
despite all the negative surrounding him experienced some of the same feelings
that anyone going through a normal loss of a parent or loved one would
experience, Hamlet experienced pain, sadness and numbness, frustration from
being broken hearted, anger and confusion and depression, to name just a few.
Over the course of Hamlet s seven soliloquies, the audience can see the slow
transgression of Hamlet s growth; however, Hamlet was pretty much stayed in the
same mind frame. To start the play, King Claudius gave a speech that despite the
loss of his brother he had taken his spot as King, Married his wife and this was
cause for a celebration. This was still very much a shock to Hamlet, he was filled
with so much sadness and numbness. Through pain filled tears Hamlet spoke O,
that this too too solid flesh would melt, Thaw, and resolve itself into a dew, or that
the Everlasting had not fixed his canon gainst self slaughter. O God, God, How
weary, stale, flat, and unprofitable seem to me all the uses of this world! (I.2.129

this research, I can look at if there are any of these expression examples within my

Children s initial declarative utterances can be about shared, specific referents and
aimed at focusing the listeners attention on something new, that has not been
previously mentioned. This is from the egocentric child point of view, (Greenfield

of the child s aspect of reality, for example, imperative and interrogative functions.

A cross sectional oral health survey was designed to assess both functional and
psychosocial effects of dental disease on the elderly population of Buda, Texas
(US). Printed surveys that consisted of 50 open ended questions on dental disease
history and dental hygiene were mailed to the selected members of a target group.
However, the response rate was not satisfactory, as a large percentage of the selected
study participants either did not return the survey, or failed to answer all the
questions posed. The researchers opted for two strategies: prompt those who did not
respond with a second letter that guaranteed complete confidentiality and broaden the
pool of selected participants. Depending on the final response rate and researchers

In other words, the lower the survey response, the higher the likelihood for

where P represents the proportion of nonrespondents in the targeted sample (also
referred to as the nonresponse rate), O the answer derived from observed responses,
and N the answer based only on nonrespondents. According to that formula, the bias
in question is calculated as the product of two main components: 1) nonresponse rate
and 2) the difference between the observed and nonrespondent answers. An increase
in either of the two components leads to increased nonresponse
19. Biography Of Auguste Rodin s The Gates Of Hell
Auguste Rodin has a number of awe inspiring pieces, ranging in medium, size, and
location. Outside the massive cluster in Paris, they pop up in the most unusual
places, such as Philadelphia, Seoul, Tokyo, and Raleigh. What is even more
interesting is that many of Rodin s pieces were designed to be part of a single
great piece, a massive pair of doors, intended for an art museum that grew into
something much more. This piece is Rodin s Gates of Hell. The gates are
particularly significant to the world of art, not only for the sculptural mastery they
display, but also for being a rather revolutionary piece in regards to the physical build
and the emotion provocation. They display the characteristic Rodin flair for
emotional content, perhaps... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his creation techniques, Rodin used a casting technique, where he would first
make the sculpture out of clay or plaster, and then it to someone else to be cast and
glazed into the blackened bronze look he is so well known for. Perhaps this spare
time allowed him to create more prolifically, as he made multiple copies of many
pieces, ranging in size. He would also often also combine separate pieces with
modification to create a new piece, many of which are well known. His gates are
remarkable because of this dedication, taking the typical relief method of only
having only slight amounts of depth created, to having the surface of the gates
roiling with sinners pulling away from the slab, their bodies protruding outwards.
Theses gates excluded a number of motifs from a variety of places, which leads, in
turn, back to speculation on the influences Rodin had while designing them. The
main influences on the gates include Rodin s personal and professional life, The
Inferno, and artists and writers of the times. A relief is a sculpture done on a slab,
with rationally layer being taken away or added to create depth, without any main
protrusions from the slab. Casting is a complex process, but ultimately results in in a
hollow metal replica of the sculpted. The pieces are ground down to remove any
imperfections, then finished with coats of metal oxides, known as a patina, that react

direct correlation between the structure of the text and the themes of the stories. The
way Murakami cloaks his own culture parallels the isolating and hidden structure of

this would be the story Barn Burning . The house etiquette belongs to Japanese

22. Major Elements Of Memory Management
D.Major elements of memory management
Linux operating system is using virtual memory to support programs running in the
system. The virtual memory provides lots of optimal ways to maximize the memory
mapping and utilization. The virtual memory can allocate much more memory to
processes than its actual physical memory size. Linux provides virtual memory great
support to allow the processes running in the system, such as mapping the process s
memory to physical memory (Arora, 2012).
There are two major important elements in memory management: virtual memory and
demand paging. As discussed before, virtual memory plays a powerful role to
support the programs for memory needs which may more than the physical memory
size. Virtual memory is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the process, page model plays a role as a flag with virtual/physical page frame
number as identified number for mapping; in addition it also provides access
information such as read only, or read write, for access control.
E.Major elements of scheduling
The scheduling of Linux operating system is priority based scheduling. It is to
make scheduling policies into the core of Linux which called Kernel for multi
tasking processes. There are two different scheduling: real time and normal, for
handling large data processes performance balance and sharing CPU equally in the
system. In the scheduling of Kernel, each process has a priority value which
ranges from 1 to 139. 1 is the highest priority level. 139 is the lowest priority level.
The real time priorities range from 1 to 99 and the normal priorities range from 100
to 139. The smaller number of priority value, the priority is higher. All real time
programs have a higher priority than normal programs in the system. In Linux
scheduling is implemented by a class named sched_class (Seeker, 2013).
The purpose of this class is to handle the multi tasking processes by scheduler
skeleton and data algorithms. As discussed above, the priority value is very
important for the scheduling, so how the system set the priority in the Linux for
assigning which is in higher priority? It depends on the types of the
23. Analysis Of The Soup Nazi By Larry David
The famous episode from Seinfeld, The Soup Nazi , is loved and viewed by many.
In this episode, both George Costanza (Jay Scott Greenspan) and Jerry Seinfeld
(Jerry Seinfeld) go to a restaurant that supposedly has the best soup in the city ,
according to the locals. However, everyone calls the owner of the soup restaurant
The Soup Nazi because of his hard, cold personality and his ability to refuse service
to anyone who annoys him. The episode comically portrays the fear which The Soup
Nazi induces on his customers and the willingness of his customers to come back just
because his soup is so delicious (http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/07/04/the top 10
seinfeldepisodes?page=2). This episode represents only a small sample of the
countless comical and satirical works written by Larry David, the writer of the
television series, Seinfeld. Larry David is a comedian as well as a satirist. He is in
many Saturday Night Live (SNL) skits as Bernie Sanders, and was the co creator of
the television series, Curb Your Enthusiasm. A common theme throughout his works
is his ability to take everyday problems and blow them out of proportion. Larry
David practices many techniques in his satirical pieces that explore ideas of race
and gender in order to bring across a message to society and entertainment to
viewers. Among Larry David s vast amount of satirical and comical pieces, one of
the main brunt of his jokes is race. Since Larry David is of Jewish ethnicity, he plays

26. The Bolsheviks and Marxism
Analyzing the Bolshevik State compared to Marxism can be difficult because Marx,
Engels and their followers gave relatively little thought to what the state would look
like after a socialist revolution. Engels famously wrote, the state is not abolished, it
withers away, which highlights the hazy and unfixed nature of Marx and Engle s
writings on the ultimate, classless society they envisioned. Further, what they did
write is subject to the differing interpretations by numerous socialist parties all
claiming to be Marxist. As discussed earlier, Lenin claimed he simply reshaped
Marxismto fit the conditions of Russia. Others argue his interpretation was not true
Marxism at all. However, the basic principles of a socialist state in the eyes of
Marx s are outlined in the Communist Manifesto as follows: 1. Abolition of property
in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.

2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.

3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.

4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.

5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with
State capital and an exclusive monopoly.

6. Centralization of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the
State.

7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State; the
bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in
accordance with a common plan.

27. Theories And Rational Choice Theory
Introduction
This paper will cover two criminological theories and they will be applied to two
types of criminality. The two theories chosen for the paper were developmental
theory and rational choice theory. The two types of crimes that were chosen were
organized crime, specifically focusing on gangs, and terrorism. Then the crimes will
be compared and contrasted. Finally, the developmental theory will be applied to
organized crime to explain why and how it happens. The rational choice theory will
be applied to terrorism to explain what compels individuals to attempt this form of
criminality.

Terrorism has been conducted throughout the world on numerous occasions. The
groups that perform these actions come from multiple countries from all over the
world. The United States even has some forms of terrorist groups and individuals.
One of the biggest terrorist attacks was the destruction of the Twin Towers carried
out by Al Qaeda. Also recently there has been attacks in Paris and Great Britain,
which were ISIS s plan. The biggest terrorist organizations include the Taliban, Al
Qaeda and quite recently ISIS. The Taliban was founded in 1994, by Mullah
Mohammed Omar, and they kill people in the name of jihad. Al Qaeda was founded
by Osama Bin Laden and also kill for jihad. Finally ISIS was founded recently hand
continues to grow rapidly. They kill indiscriminately and how they see fit (Ppcorn,
n.d.).
Compare Organized Crime and Terrorism Organized crime and Terrorist groups are
very similar in many ways. They both are structured with well thought out
organization and are multi leveled, just like a corporation would be. Both are
involved with illegal business activities. This includes the smuggling and selling of
drugs, kidnapping, and human trafficking. The members of the groups are normally
deviant with their behavior. They consist or aggressive, violent, and dehumanizing
natures. They feel satisfaction from killing innocent people and striking fear in the
individuals that oppose

person that dislike Christmas, gets visited by three spirits that made him change his

lender. And a friend of his, Marley, died on Christmas Eve, which made Scrooge a
bitter person about Christmas. He dislikes generosity; he s a cold hearted man and an
old miser. He didn t give out money to anyone who was in desperate need for it. For
example one of his workers, Bob Cratchit, his clerk, asks Scrooge if he can buy
heating coals for a fire because it was so cold, and Scrooge refused. Another time
when Scrooge didn t want to give money was when two men passed by and ask
Scrooge if he would like to make a donation to their charity and he refused also. Later

According to Fortune (2017) ADHD is one of the most common neurodevelopmental
disorders of childhood (Lecture 8, slide 2). A child by default already has high energy
levels and constantly needs to be active however according to Fortune (2017), ADHD
can be categorised in three types: predominantly inattentive presentation,
predominantly hyperactive impulsive presentation and combined presentation
(Lesson 8, slide 3). The child (Jon) with ADHD with whom I worked was diagnosed
with predominantly hyperactive impulsivity presentation. Jon had a hard time
waiting for activities to start, and once they did, he would not follow the rules
instead he would run up on the benches then come on the court to play with another
child who was not his partner then he would run back to the instructor to complain
he was bored and wanted to do other things (the same behaviors happened when we
switched activities). However, I developed an intervention plan for Jon so that he can
stay still long enough that he can focus on tasks and be able to participate with the
other children. The intervention plan stated that Jon needed to release his energy, and
gets bored very quickly, therefore, I came up with a schedule for Jon to follow

Stock car racing has evolved a great amount since 1920 s when racing first started.
The cause of racing was because of the Prohibition. The 18th amendment banned the
production and possession of alcohol. So people had to make their own liquor, called
moonshine. In order to make money from liquor, part of the job was to deliver it to
their customers, but with the law enforcements trying to obey the new law,
Moonshiners had to make their runs at night. They also had to use vehicles that
would blend in, and would not create too much attention, but those vehicles couldn t

The outer shell of the helmet has 2 layers of carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is
extremely strong and light. The construction of the outer shell begins with a thin
layer of gel coat. After that a special resign is added to the shell. The special resign
includes several types of glass, carbon, Kevlar, and other exotic fibers and weaves.
Kevlar is what makes carbon fiber helmets extremely durable and light. All that

outer shell is the BEADALL liner. BEADALL liner is a foam layer that is made of
polystyrene or polypropylene. This layer of foam is put in the crown of the

Guilt is cancer. Guilt will confine you, torture you, destroy you as an artist. It s a
black wall. It s a thief. Dave Grohl perfectly describes this psychological demon
inside our minds, munching away on our inner esteem. However, this contrite
conscience only comes after a harrowing deed has been done, after a haunting
experience has been encountered. One such phenomenon occurs in the short story
The Tell Tale Heart, where the protagonist, an unnamed narrator, brutally murders an
old man to get rid of his evil eye. To start with, this anonymous storyteller endeavors
to convince the reader of his sanity, and states that he has contracted a disease that has
honed his senses (especially the sense of hearing). The raconteur continues by... Show

To begin with, his motive for murder is the epitome of insane. The text states
Object there was none. Passion there was none. I loved the old man. He had never
wronged me. He had never given me insult. For his gold I had no desire. I think it
was his eye! Yes, it was this (2). Even though the old man does absolutely nothing to
upset his younger companion, the protagonist still strives to end his life, all because
of an eye. With this newfound objective, the story teller quickly acts, describing how
he advances in paragraph 3: You should have seen how wisely I proceeded with what
caution with what foresight with what dissimulation, I went to work! Specifically, the
main character stalks the old man throughout a whole week before finally striking. At
midnight, he cautiously opens the bedroom door and sticks in a lantern, just enough
so he lands a single ray of light upon the evil eye. On the other side of the spectrum,
he lures the old man into a false sense of security during the day by acting good
natured and kindhearted. Although the raconteur has expressed his psychotic mind
and vexatious ideas, the infamous principle innocent until proven guilty prevents his
conscious from entering the depths of guilt since no serious devilry has been done

The pH of your blood should be kept within the range of 7.35 7.45, if it increases or
decreases in acidity, health concerns occurs. In your body, your brain, lungs and
kidneys contribute in sustaining your blood pH.
Lungs are respiratory organs where it intakes oxygen and releases carbon dioxide,
which is strongly acidic. With the carbon dioxide in your blood, it is transported to the
lungs by blood, where we are able to breathe it out. If the concentrate of carbon
dioxide in the blood increases, the acidity of your blood starts to rise. The brain will
control how much carbon dioxide you breathe out by managing the speed and
intensity of breathing. In order to control the pH in your blood, you start to
hyperventilate, releasing carbon dioxide, which increases the blood pH (decreases the
acidity). With the brain and lungs working together, it is able to control the blood pH
maintaining homeostasis. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Having your blood have too much base or not enough acids, the kidney will then

the blood pH, which is longer in comparison to the lungs, but it still works well and

Ancient Athens was a highly polarized society in which citizenship meant everything.
Citizenship permitted individuals to not only participate in the democratic

citizen controlled influence over slaves, foreigners and most importantly women.
Athenian women were relegated to the status of child bearers and keepers of the
household. There was no room for personal expression or freedom and the strict
moral code in many cases restricted these women from even leaving their homes.

This is evident in the way that women were referred to in conversation as they
were called aste (city woman) rather than the feminine form of citizen which was
politis (Just 1989: 21). Furthermore, women s subservient status is also
demonstrated in the common practice during formal speech of specifying women
by their relationships with men. Wives remained in the house for the majority of
the time and did not perform strenuous activity as the procreation of a son was all
important (http//:www.perseus.tufts.edu/classes/JKp.html). Another example of the
inferior status of women is the fact that adultery was a more serious crime than
rape as it was an offense to the husband and put into question the legitimacy of his
sons (http://www.ucd.ie/~classics/94/Arkins94.html). Perhaps the best description
of the way in which wives were viewed by Athenian men is given by Ischomachos
in the Oikonomikos: Why, what knowledge could she have had, Sokrates, when I
took her? She was not yet fifteen years old when she came to me, and up until that
time she had lived under the utmost care, seeing as little as possible, hearing as
little as possible, and saying as little as possible. If, when she came to me, she knew
no more than how to turn out a cloak when given the wool and had only seen only
how to the spinning had been given out to the maids, is that not as much as could be
expected (Xenophon: 7.5).

In this essay, I will be exploring the similarities and differences of female
characters in A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams; and The World s
Wife by Carol Ann Duffy. Both texts denote women as somewhat weak and
incompetent and as having a predatory attitude towards the mainly dominant male
characters. A Streetcar Named Desire was written in 1945 and it initially connected
with America s new found taste for realism following the Great Depression and
World War II. William s based the character of Blanche on his sister who was

industries, one of the most popular is the racing one. It has been evolving since it

understatement. Even while it is an industry of its own (Racing industry), it still has
many different branches. For instance, when we talk about racing, we can have an

racing, we have organized activities such as NASCAR racing events, but if we want
to talk about illegal racing ways, we can talk about street racing or drag racing on

A Lesson in Oppression From the beginning of time and around the world, women
have been subjected to patriarchal oppression in various forms. From economic
hardships such as wage gaps or an inability to own property, to social mores such as
submission in marriage and sexual objectification, women are systematically treated
as second class citizens without a voice. African Americanwomen have faced these
gendered challenges in addition to racial discrimination in the forms of slavery, unfair

main characters who experience racial and gender oppression in various ways.
Webster s Dictionary defines oppression as: the state of being subject to unjust

placement in employment where no more than eight other employees with
disabilities; (3) twice monthly follow along assessment of the employee in their place
of employment (Shafer, Tait, Keen, and Jeisolowski, 1989). The amendment provided
grants to fund supportive employment special projects and programs to help state
agencies establish and implement supportive employment (Shafer et al. 1989). The

This contributed to the increase of vocational education with the goal of being
incorporated into the workforce (NLIHC 2014). Occupational therapy played a vital
role in the preparation of clients for work based rehabilitation due to the focus of
occupational therapy. According to the Occupational Therapists in mental health,
school setting, and rehabilitation settings all promote work as an important goal in
the occupational intervention plan (King Olson, 2014). An additional outcome, and
possibly one of the most significant, is the fact that the Rehabilitation Act
Amendments of 1986 initiated the ideas and practices that developed into
Occupational therapists becoming a advocates for policy development to assist
clients with disabilities (King Olson,
