Baldessari and her 2 year old daughter were pulled from the car but her 4 year old son, David DJ
Harper, was trapped in his car seat. John and Joel Rechlitz, two off duty firefighters, took turns
diving into the burning car to rescue the boy and, as a result of their bravery, DJ is now
recuperating from burns covering 20 percent of his body (Kozinski, 2009). Everyday thousands
of people get hurt, but at the same time millions of other get saved. 1If everyone in this planet
were benevolent and courageous, then the number of people who get hurt can drastically decrease.
It only takes one person to save a life. Firefighters, policemen, and doctors aren t the only ones who
can help others, anyone can be a hero. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee uses the
characterization of Atticus and Mrs. Dubose to prove that courage is about ... Show more content on

Atticus is one of the characters who proves that courage is about thinking long and hard about what
s right instead of relying on personal prejudice or gut reaction, and then doing what s right whether
you win or lose. 2Throughout the whole case Atticus supported Tom Robinson; he went against the
whole town just to help an innocent man. 3Atticus did everything he could do to defend Tom
Robinson, but when he failed it really hurts him. When Aunt Alexandra told Atticus that he would
ruin the family name, he still refused to change his mind. Throughout the whole novel Atticus
still fought for what he believed in. Atticus told Jem that As you grow older, you ll see white
men cheat black men every day of your life, but let me tell you something and don t you forget it
whenever a white man does that to a black man, no matter who he is, how rich he is, or how fine a
family he comes from, that white man is trash (page 233). Atticus stood up to Aunt

Gun Violence Effects On School Shootings
Gun violence is a crisis in the United States and it has now dominated national debate since the
school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High in Parkland, Florida. A 19 year old killed 17
and injured 14 people at the school. The article, No, there haven t been 18 school shootings in
2018. That number is flat wrong, is by John Woodrow Cox and Steven Rich is published in the
Washington Post on February 15, 2018. According to the article, Everytown for GunSafety, a non

According to Inderjeet Dokal there are currently 13 known variations of genes that cause FA
and they are as follows: FANCA, FANCB, FANCC, FANCD1, FANCD2, FANCE, FANCF,
FANCG, FANCI, FANCJ, FANCL, FANCM, and FANCN (Dokal, 2008). Dokal and many other
doctors agree that FA is a very penetrant genetic disorder. That is, all of these subtypes of the FA
gene can cause many of the different types of cancer and bone marrow deficiencies that are
associated with FA. For example, in the list given by Dokal, the subtype FANCA is known to
express as a gene that controls certain aspects of protein coding. This one genetic subtype causes
breakdowns in the various checkpoints throughout the cell cycle. As you can imagine, this one gene
can destroy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The expressivity and penetrance of FA are largely based on the number and type of subtypes
present. It was found that a large amount of the subtypes of FA actually interact with each other in
one form or another to cause reactions and abnormalities in many of the pathways that are critical to
the replication and regulation of DNA in each of the cells pathways. Interestingly enough, if just
one of the subtypes is not present, then the expression of the interference is not as extreme as it
could be if all of the subtypes needed for a category were present.
With that said, it s important to understand what happens during a normal cycle of DNA replication.
This will provide a greater understanding of the effects of FA on the DNA replication process. By
understanding the processes and events of replication you can see how those subtypes of FA
like FANCL can be so detrimental to the affected individuals cells. The process of replication in
regards to DNA is a complicated set of processes in which thousands of base pairs are accurately
copied and translated to produce new strands of DNA. It s important to note that DNA
replication is a semi conservative process, this means that every time a new DNA molecule is
formed, an old strand is incorporated along with the new strand. Each cycle recycles at least one
of the old strands. The process of DNA replication begins at specific sites called the origin of
replication. This

The Degree Of Mba Degree
There is controversy in the added value a student gets out of a degree in Masters of Business
Administration (MBA). Experts outside of the field argue that the MBA degree program
provides courses for students, but that the courses are not teaching the students skills that they
need for the field. Chris Roebuck says that MBA School graduates educated bad leaders, (62).
Jeffrey Pfeffer; a professor of organizational behavior says that not all successful business leaders
have an MBA degree (12). Supporting professor Pfeffer, Charles Haddad mentions that
successful businessmen have made a career without a degree in MBA. For example, Bill Gates
and Ted Turner say they didn t bother with the degree because over a span of years the degree
lessens in value (12). Attaining an MBA degree has better benefits than those who don t because a
degree ensures that you are qualified and skillful in doing your job. Having an MBA degree
enhances managementpractice because it gives you tools that prepare you for the field, a broader
perspective on how business is run, and enriches your learning experience by networking with
peers of various disciplines. MBA programs are designed to prepare, and enhance managers for
difficulties they might find in the field. Having an MBA gives the manager a broader perspective
on the business as a whole, and allows more strategic decisions that will ultimately impact the
bottom line. Studies suggest that for most managers, the MBA program was seen to

CMS Inpatient Prospective Payment System
Insurance Final Assignment
1.Hospital reimbursement: Outline the significant components that make up the CMS IPPS
(inpatient prospective payment system).
The Inpatient Prospective Payment System is based on CMS (Medicare) standards because it is
the largest reimburser. It was created to control rising healthcare costs by determining
reimbursement prospectively. The costs of inpatient acute hospitals stays under Medicare Part A
are fixed so that each patient case aligns with a Diagnosis Related Group (DRG).
DRGs are an important element of this system because they drive payment and reimbursement for
services. The DRG Case Mix is meant to be an indicator of resource utilization, thus determining

A Child s Pursuit Of Happiness
On January 23, 2016, Iowa, passed and sent a bill to the state Senate that makes it legal for
children younger than the age of 14 to handle a pistol and ammunition as long as they are being
supervised by a parent or another person. Most of the advocates for this new bill want this law
not to ensure their child s safety from potential harm, but merely the right for their child to
legally use a pistol for recreational purposes. The problem with this new law is that now
countless citizens sense of security relies on whether a parent teaches their 1 14 year old how to
correctly use a pistol. In 2015, statistics have shown that a 3 year old was twice as likely to injure
or kill a person than a 5 17 year old child. In this situation, a child s pursuit of happiness should not
infringe on another person s right to security.
Most children do not have the ability to think rationally about their decisions. In 2013, a 2 year old
in Kentucky was shot and killed by her 5 year old brother. Although there was no guardian
supervision when the homicide happened, the child did not have the capability to understand how
dangerous a gun can become. There have been hundreds of cases like the one mentioned previously
happening throughout the United States. Studies have shown that children are less able than adults
to make risky choices and comprehend the disadvantages and advantages of their choices. These
studies support the basic belief that

Hades And Persephone Research Paper
The Ancient Greeks lived a life oriented around religion, and this religious centered life came with
religious ceremonies to celebrate both men and women s coming of age into adulthood.
One interesting rite of passage for both men and women were the Eleusinian mysteries. These
mysteries are based and centered on the myth of Hades and Persephone, commonly used as an
explanation for the changing of the seasons, but has two other interpretations: the sexual
awakening and becoming a woman, and also the idea that is is possible to come back from the
afterlife. Hades may not be the end of everyone. Prior to her kidnapping, Persephone had no
name and was referred to as Kore, or maiden. Upon being kidnapped by Hades, according to some
versions of the myth, the virginal goddesses came to her defense, not wanting to lose one of their
own. Demeter, Goddess of Agriculture, falls into mourning at the loss of her daughter, or the
prospect of her daughter growing up and becoming a woman. Upon returning, Kore s name was
changed to Persephone, signifying the loss of her virginity. While in a state of mourning, Demeter

The Electric Ant By Philip K. Dick
What Am I ?
The Electric Ant is a science fiction short story written by Philip K. Dick and published in 1969. In
this setting, the story takes place in a distant alternative universe. Mankind s identity and freedom
are being questioned in this futuristic society. Indeed, the plot explores the identity of a protagonist
who has been disconnected from reality after an accident, by being transformed into an organic
robot. A being that is no longer humandespite having the skin, the flesh and the physical body of a

in life. Even he mentioned the fact that he no longer belongs to the human race as mentioned: A
slave, Poole said. A mechanical slave. [...] I ve lived a good live, Poole said. I ve worked hard.
This simply shows how the main protagonist lost all interest of returning to how things used to
be. He accepts what is currently expected of him. Poole is positioned into an artificial body that
can be replaced at any time. He has lost his individuality and freedom. As the story goes on, it
follows the complex development of the protagonist. Another form of displacement of identity is
formed when Poole realizes his whole existence is dictated by a simple gadget installed in his
body. He is not free in the world he is living in as demonstrated in the story.

Evaluating The Best Educational Placement For Children...
Every year as their children enter the educational system, many parents of children with special
needs have to choose the best educational fit to maximize their children s long term success. I have
been one of those parents. Raising a child with special needs comes with many challenges along the
way, but the choice of setting in which a child with special needs obtains their educationhas a long
lasting impact on a child s physical and emotional health. For this reason parents in collaboration
with educators must weigh many factors to determine the best educational placement for children
with special educational needs. Therefore, placement in an educational setting must take into
consideration the setting that provides for the best interests of each particular child. Various
educational options should continue to be available to students with special needs to ensure they
are receiving the education that is most appropriate for their areas strengths and weaknesses.
The current special education system determines the placement for these students in accordance
with the recommendation of the child s educational team. This group is made up of parents,
educators and administrators from the child s school district, as well as administrators from an
alternative schooling option if applicable (Ohio Department of Education). The team is unique to
each student and has the goal ensuring a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) for the student

Disadvantages Of Resilience In Children
Resilience is the process of successfully adapting to various challenges or extremely threatening
circumstances (Ungar et al., 2013; Ungar, Russell, Connelly, 2014). Resilient children develop
protective responses during times of uncertainty, threat, and surprise. It is an active process
involving the interaction of vulnerability, risk, and protective aspects (Benard, 2004). Resilient
children experience positive results in their development despite the extreme challenges they
encounter (Martin, 2013).
Individuals become resilient in response to internal and external factors that they have, which are
called protective factors. These protective mechanisms are developed within children by having
good role models and access to adequate home, school, and community support (Im, Hughes,
Kwok, Puckett, Cerda, 2013; Ungar et al., 2013). These protective factors help to buffer adversity.
The greater the protective factors, the more likely it is that a person will persevere through life s
difficulties (Ungar, Russell, Connelly, 2014). The literature identified a number of protective
factors found among children who were anticipated to struggle, yet experienced positive outcomes
(Benard, 1993). Ungar et al. (2013) observed that a large percentage of children who grow up in
adverse environments display resilience by overcoming the challenges that confront them.
Various models help refine the various aspects of resilience theory (Ungar et al., 2013), such as the

The Leadership Theory Of Organizational Needs
As previously mentioned, it is important that organizational needs are met by ensuring that leaders
have the right skills, while also having a foundation of a specific leadership theory to drive the
daily functions of the organization. As important as these aspects are, it is even more important that
leaders take the time to evaluate their leadershipstyle and philosophy to ensure that they remain
effective and efficient in their work. Fisher (2009) notes that it is important to recognize the
type of leadership that is most effective with staff, so that it can be applied accordingly. By
taking the time to self evaluate, it will allow for self reflection on one s own philosophies and the
ability to grow as a leader in their areas of weakness and enhance the areas that are the strongest. As
a social workleader working within the nonprofit public management side of a HSO, it is
important that I take the time to self evaluate myself and the philosophies that I adhere to in my
daily work. As a Quality Improvement Manager, there are several philosophies that I follow to
ensure that my actions and behaviors are trustworthy, genuine, and supportive in nature. As a
social worker, I abide and follow the values and philosophies of the National Association of

primary goal of enhancing an individual s well being is met (NASW, 2008). Next, I have always

Ontology vs. Epistemology
Ontology deals with questions concerning what entities exist or can be said to exist. What do
we know? What are we certain of? What can we prove? What is the nature of existence?
Epistemology is the study of knowledge. How do we know what we know? How can we
establish truth and certainty? Are their limits to what we can know based on how we come to
know it? These epistemological questions when combined with ontological questions have
philosophers pondering what exists and how we know it exists. In A Certain Ambiguity, by
Gaurav Suri and Hartosh Singh Bal, there was a constant question of proof. How do you go about
proving something? Well the book suggests that it is only possible to prove something if you have
a set of accepted axioms.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first half of this quote explains that idea in a different way, Each society thought that their
way was the natural way, the absolute way, and the certain way, but Protagoras and Sophists
realized that one way was not anymore certain or real than any other way. They went on to
generalize that every human idea is relative to the circumstances surrounding the originator of
the idea, and that true knowledge is unattainable. (pg. 42) The second half of the quote intrigued
me. People are too dependent on one another to formulate or recognize new truths. The movie
Flatland showed how people s thoughts and ideas are limited to what they can see and what
they experience. The circles were powerful and influential and clearly knew they could control
the thoughts of their people. The circumstance surrounding the idea of the existence of the 3rd
dimension was the shapes were to be punished if they disobeyed the circles and tried to prove
there was a 3rd dimension. When someone finally stood out and fought to prove the existence of
the new dimension, was when the people followed along because the new truth made more sense.
If people keep looking at certainty with an oh look, something shiny attitude they are going to
continue to be pawns in someone s game and are never really going to increasing their knowledge.
Oh look, something shiny is used to express the way people react when they are told a new truth.

Ђ™S Lives Are Very
The first few years of young children s lives are very critical to their overall development
because new learning is happening every day, either during time spent with a teacher or parent.
When children are four years old, they are with a teacher full time or part time. That teacher is a
professional individual who plays an active role in children s early childhooddevelopment and has a
genuine desire to help them learn, grow and succeed in their education. These are just a few roles
that early childhood educators play in the field of early childhood education, working with young
children in their early childhood years of life.
The requirements for becoming a teacher vary from state to state. In New York State, teachers must

That answer got me thinking. All of her answers gave me advice about how to be a great
kindergarten teacher down the line.
Standard one, promoting child development and learning, means that a teacher of young children
must have an understanding of the characteristics and needs of young children as well as an
understanding the many influences on young children (relationships with their families, their
health, their learning styles, their opportunity to play) and use this understanding of children s
development and learning to create learning environments that are healthy, respectful, supportive,
and challenging for all children. Standard two, building family and community relationships means
that a teacher must understand the importance and complex characteristics of children s families
and communities. Teachers can then create respectful, reciprocal relationships that support families,
and involve families in their children s development and learning. Standard three is knowing how to
observe, document, and assess in order to support young children and families. Teachers must
understand the goals, benefits, and uses of assessment. They must also know how to use systematic
observations, documentation, and other assessment strategies in a responsible way, for the purpose
of positively influencing children s development. Standard four is knowing

EBP literature review
Introduction
Chang et al. (2015) sets to investigate the accuracy of CHOL PET and T2W/DW MRI in
delineating prostatic tumor. An imaging modality with high precision could guide focal therapies
more accurately, therefore reduce unnecessary dose to healthy tissues of patient and bring
significant health benefit. Research was undertaken in hope to identify CHOL PET as a suitable
candidate for guiding focal therapy. Abstract of the study briefly summarized the aim, design and
conclusion of the study. This essay aims to review study conduct and evaluate its validity, bias and
accuracy.

Good Advertising or Not?
David A. Gatti
BUSI 612 Integrated Faith amp; Learning Report
Liberty University November 10, 2015
Abstract
This paper will discuss a Bible verse(s) that would guide a marketer as they developed
advertisements that would be considered within the boundaries of good advertising.
Keywords: good advertising, advertising ethics, corporate social responsibility
Good Advertising or Not?
Advertisements
Advertisements are an important vehicle designed to promote or help sell a product, service or
idea (Young, 2014, p.35). As a dimension of IMC, advertising is ...most often associated with
offenses that attract attention from critics and regulators alike (Young, 2014, p.34). This can be...

Persevering trials bring purpose, and God s love is evident in His chastening which should never be
despised (Job 5:17; Hebrews 12:5).
The Word of God then warns not to be fooled by Satan or his lies (James 1:16). Our faith and
love in God who first loved us (1 John 4:19) can shield the fiery darts of wickedness hurled by
Satan, the real source of temptation (Ephesians 6:16). James 1:17 continues by naming God as
the source of every good and perfect gift from above. Of His own will He brought us forth by the
word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of His creatures (James 1:18, NKJV). The
excerpt points to the sacrifice, redemption and love of Jesus Christ who said, As the Father hath
loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love (John 15:9, KJV). Conclusion
In summary, marketers will be challenged daily and would be wise to take heed to spiritual
instruction:
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord
ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. But he that doeth
wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons
(Colossians 3:23 25, KJV).
Finally, before giving an answer to: Is it considered good advertising or not?, marketers should
rely solely on the direction and guarantee of God s promises (2 Corinthians 7:1) and His wisdom

Randy Pausch Last Lecture Analysis
The most inspiring part of Randy Pausch s Last Lecture was his attitude. The way he started out
by saying he was not their to talk about his cancer or his family and the way he focused on such
a basic thought, as childhood dreams and their importance, was highly insightful. Mr. Pausch
wasn t dwelling on what he has yet to do, but instead focuses on the dreams he has already
achieved. When he spoke of being offered the job as a Disney Imagineer and turning it down, that
was a very empowering decision. He had the ability to achieve one of his childhood dreams and
chose not to. It shows how we can adapt those childhood dreams to our lives as we grow and
become different things throughout our lives. My personal motivation is my children

The Similarities Of Macbeth And Eleanor Roosevelt
Can two couples that seem so unalike actually have many things in common? Although the
Macbeths and the Roosevelts have some differences, they are very similar couples. In Macbeth,
Macbeth ascends from thane to king with Lady Macbeth s help. Macbeth is eventually killed for
being king and Lady Macbeth commits suicide. Franklin and Eleanor Rooseveltwere the President

I Love To Keep Mount Everest Research Paper
The rewards of keeping Mount Everest are risks and death. My decision is to keep Mount
Everest because it s a extreme sport you have to have faith, courage, and you have to be wise.
The reason why you have these characteristics is because so you could be safe. First you need to
have faith and courage because you can t go in nervous and scared because you can end up
getting hurt. Lastly is wise. You need to be wise because you need to plan your moves and you
need to be smart about what you do.
First reasons why I would love to keep Mount Everest is because it s part of our history everyone
knows what it is as a matter of fact Mount Everest is 29,029 feet tall one of the tallest and
mountain in the world. In paragraph four it says It s an quest that provides a sense of
achievement (Source 1). That s one reason why I would love to keep Mount Everest because
people love that rush in their blood system, they love that feeling that scared feeling, and by the
time you complete what you did you feel good about yourself. Some people love challenges and

explorers risked their lives in the Age of Discovery (Source 1). People risk their life for this
mountain they love that rush so much. In addition, Mount Everest comes with big
responsibilities. You have to bring a can of oxygen because once you get to a high altitude you

The Sun Also Rises Analysis
The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemmingway. Belmonte was one of the most popular bullfighters
in his early days. When Belmonte decided to come out of retirement to bullfight once again, he
knew that he couldn t live up to those legend bullfighters that came before him and that he grew
up watching and admiring. As you can say, it was awkward when Belmonte would fight on the
same day as Pedro Romeo and then get overshadowed by Pedro and realizing he isn t the

Houston has seen a major revitalization of the areas inside of the 610 loop, from the Heights, to

toward downtown, but has never quite reached into the limits of the downtown area.

Mars Hypothesis
PROBLEM What would be the best, easiest, and cheapest way to get enough water to healthily
sustain a Mars colony of one hundred people for one year? A second question is, Is there a way to
reduce the amount of water used by each human on a daily basis?
HYPOTHESIS
My hypothesis is that the easiest, cheapest, and most sustainable source of water on Mars will be
filtration of urine. Scientists have already proved that this will work in space on the International
Space Station. A second hypothesis is that the amount of water needed by humans on mars can be
cut in half by making some simple changes.
PROCEDURE
To begin my experiment I will research information of several ways that you could potentially get
water on Mars. I will look at filtration systems, binding of hydrogen and oxygen molecules and
melting of ice that is said to be located on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also for any filter to be useable it has to be able to withstand the trip to mars and the landing on
mars.
Another method worth exploring is the binding of hydrogen and oxygen molecules. If this works it
could potentially be more sustainable and cheaper that the alternative. For this to work it will need
to be proven on earth before going to mars. It also will need to be made a more simple process.
Additionally it will need to be safe to do within a building. The oxygen and hydrogen would also
need to be able to be sent in a pressurized form. Finally for this to work they would need a safe
and efficient way to transport it to mars. Another way to get water from mars would be the
melting of ice said to be located on the poles of mars. To make this work they would need to
know for certain that there is ice on mars. They would also need to know how to melt the ice
without starting a fire. Also they would need a way to separate the water from the dirt it is said to
be mixed with. Additionally they would need to find a way to collect the amount of dirt it would

was consumed by the bird and caused its death. Rather than the rubbish being in the trash, it is

To A Mouse And Louse Summary
Silly Little Critter
(Three Messages From Mouse and Louse) When Robert Burns wrote To a Mouse as well as To a
Louse, he had to have been thinking about it pretty hard, because the messages of each text
connect to one another in many ways. In both of these texts, he used little critters that might
gross some people out. He didn t really use a creature that very many people found cute in any
way. It was a very creative way to go about, because he decided he would use a animal/insect that
people don t really pay too much attention to. There was a very genius reason to why he decided
to use pests as the main topic of his texts, and that s because it made all of the messages more
clear to the reader. Robert Burns was a really known author, and many people thought very highly
of him. According to Brooke A. Stopford, His greatest power, that which made him... Show more

This is a very true message in many ways. The main reason why this is most likely the best
message in the texts, is because Burns talked about how they don t have to live their life
struggling because of worrying. Something that humans do a lot of the time is stress over things
that might be big, but might also not be as important as we act like it is. In the text To a Mouse,
Burns said, Still thou art blest, compared wi me! The present only toucheth thee. What was being
said in this sentence is that even though the mouse s house got completely destroyed, instead of
sitting there and worrying about it, he just started building a new one. He doesn t know about the
past, nor the future. All that animals, as well as insects know about is the present, which gives
them a huge advantage over us. Same thing goes for the louse in To a Louse. He didn t know that
he could get hit by something at any minute and die, because unlike humans, they don t know about
death until it

Neolithic Agriculture Benefits
Agriculture is one of the key factors that shape your everyday life. Your time, money, nutrition, and
life is dependent on agriculture. Food can be gathered by either hunting for it or producing it,
however, which method is healthier for human civilization? Some people believe that producing
foods and domesticating animals (agriculturein Neolithic Revolution) is more beneficial to
humans. However, the reasonings for which hunting and gathering is healthier overall are
abundant. Hunting and gathering (way of getting food in the Paleolithic Era) supplies a better and
more varied amount of nutrients, less vulnerability to famine and disease, and good leisure time
with less work. Progressivists (those who believe in the benefits of agriculture) say that agriculture
was more beneficial due to the fact that you could get more food for less work. The problem was
that farming did not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those perks offered vast culture, better hospitality, more farms and more produce. However, as
hunting and gathering consists of many different food sources rather than just farming a lot of
select foods, relying only on select produced food leaves you more vulnerable to famine and
disease. The reasoning behind this is if your crops fail, then you probably won t have another
source of food because most farmers did not have the skillsets or physical ability for hunting and
gathering. An example of a catastrophic outcome with producing food could be the Great Famine
in Ireland, where potatoes became infested and became unable to eat which triggered the famine
due to farmers being so dependent on potatoes. As previously stated, farming brings more people
together in certain areas. With having a higher population, disease is common due to the ease of
spread. The risks that farming takes is too deadly and dependent compared to hunting as it mostly
depends on

Herbal Essences Advertisement Analysis
Semiotics is a critical approach that studies the symbols as elements of communicative behaviour
(Dictionary.com). One would analyze the image influence, language influence, and the intention of
the advertisement. Image influence includes colours, pictures, and the action (if necessary).
Language influence contains the text size, type of font, and phrases. The intention of the ad
includes the purpose and the intended audience (age, gender, culture (etc.)). I will be focusing on
the utilization of semiotics through a Herbal Essences advertisement. The ad motivates its
customers by its image, language, and purpose.
Firstly, the image presented by Herbal Essences catches the viewers attention. Initially, if one were
to look at the advertisement, the first picture he or she would notice is the woman Nicole
Scherzinger. It is the largest image on the poster making her the central attraction. She is a
celebrity which could influence her fans to purchase the product. Nicole looks happy with her
smooth, shiny hair. This can lead others to think that the product gives customer satisfaction. Her
face has a glow, which makes her look radiant. Also, one would notice that she is touching her
shiny, wavy, black hair, which makes her look attractive and gives it a sexual appeal. In the online

Introduction
On paper, global marketing is undoubtedly a great concept. The idea of leveraging a marketing
strategy across multiple markets seems to be nothing but beneficial. It saves effort and resources,

However, the question of whether global marketing works is a frequent conversation topic amongst
marketers, and the concept of globally led marketing resources can be subject to much scepticism.

and consumers at one point or another. It may either help or hurt you, so familiarizing yourself with
their strategies can help you to adapt to changes.
And as a manager or the CEO, you must know your customer s views about what they re buying
from you, and what they value most about it. In this case you might know what they like about
your product and what they really want from your service. Because of that, this question will
come up: What you could do to make it more useful and valuable to them? Regarding to this
question you can make innovations and changes to your product that is based on what the
customer s desire. To have a better result, ask this question to yourself: What would encourage
them to buy more? Here, after you think of an idea to innovate your product and to improve your
services you must put it in action. For example, you give promos and discounts.

The Real Miracle at Dunkirk and the Other Channel Ports in...
The real miracle at Dunkirk and the other Channel ports in May 1940 was that Hitler halted his
Panzer divisions against the advice of almost all his generals, and allowed nearly 600,000
British and French troops to escape to England. Had he not done so, the military disaster that the
British Expeditionary Force experienced in France would have been total, and none of its troops
would have been able to fight on another day. Even so, they lost most of their planes, tanks,
artillery and heavy equipment, while the loss of aircraft by the RAF imperiled it ability to defend
the country against the Luftwaffe. Although Winston Churchill and his Minister of Information
Alfred Duff Cooper tried to put the best face on the evacuation possible, especially by
emphasizing the role the small boats had played in the rescue effort, they were under no illusions
about the magnitude of the disaster. Hitler gave various explanations for why he refused to
continue ground operations against Dunkirk none of them particularly convincing and it has
puzzled historians for seventy years since. Most of the top German commanders were literally
speechless when they heard the order to halt and leave Dunkirk to the Luftwaffe, although Field
Marshal Gerd von Rundstedt was concerned about possible British and French counterattacks on
the exposed northern flank of the German army. Britain s counterattack at Arras had also come as

A Madman s Confession In The Tell-Tale Heart By Edgar...
A Madman s Confession
Edgar Allan Poe s The Tell Tale Heart is a magnificent tale of an unnamed narrator attempting to
defend his sanity while revealing he has committed murder. The storyteller makes us believe that
he is in full control of his mind yet he is experiencing a disease that causes him oversensitivity of
the senses. However, it is not the disease that draws us into the story; it is the way Poe vividly
illustrates the destruction mental illness has that leaves a stain on the reader s mind.
There are several passages within the story that demonstrate auditory hallucinations, deluded beliefs
thought processes, and violent tendencies. In modern times we can conclude these are symptoms of
paranoid schizophrenia. However, when this story was composed, paranoid schizophrenia was not
yet discovered, meaning this tale would have been originally considered dark and sinister,
compared to society s current standards. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Driven by his paranoia, he thought: they were making a mockery of my horror (45). Poe was
able to illustrate the narrator s mental breakdown, as you cannot hear the beating of a dead heart;
however, if you are frightened or your pulse is racing, many people claim they can hear the
whooshing sounds of their own heart beating. Poe again illustrates how destructive the illness is on
the narrator, as the narrator is no longer able to tell the difference between reality and his delusion
and could only conclude it was the old man s heart beating beneath the floorboards.
In conclusion, Edgar Allan Poe s The Tell Tale Heartis an incredible gothic fiction story which Poe
eloquently illustrates how mental illness can consume a person s mind and untimely destroy how
reality is perceived. However, it does leave you to question how Poe can understand the inner
workings of a mad man s mind so effortlessly without being mad

stagnant political process and were advocating for new democratic reforms. A person who has
been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster is what
we call a Refugee, but with the current war on Terrorism/ISIS it is hard to distinguish whether
they are really refugees or working with ISIS. More than four million refugees of the Syrian Civil
war have fled Syria, and left to neighboring countries such as Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Turkey, and
some even ended up in the Persian Gulf, Europe, and North Africa. The... Show more content on

The movement began as a peaceful demonstration but eventually outside forces joined and began
to use this movement for other purposes mainly violent ones. The protests turned into massive
ones around March of the same year and thousands of people took the streets of Syria in peaceful
protests. Later in April 2011, the Syrian government has decided to send out the military to subdue
the protests. Opposition groups began to arm themselves and fight back after this, and they were
aided by the Syrian military members who joined them as well. The government was not happy
about these protests and they responded with extreme measures such as torturing and killing
protesters, kidnapping, and mistreatment. The government troops opened fire on civilians and the
civilians fired back in response to this. The result of this was the Syrian army quickly turning this
to an armed conflict. Daily, terrorist groups sabotage innocents, blow up buildings/infrastructure,
bomb roads, and murder civilians in mass scales. Many communities are destroyed and terrorized,
families are displaced and broke apart, and people are being murdered on the streets security
officials and civilians. These evil acts are being put through by the Free Syrian Army, as well as
some ISIS overlap. With the continuous bombings, deaths, and uncertainty in these Syrian civilians

How A Fetus Changes Into A Baby
In this chapter it talks about the development of how a fetus changes into a baby. The first part
of the chapter starts out by talking about how the zygote divides into the two cells. With another
36 hours the zygote becomes 32 cells. This time period of conception is call germinal stage. In
the first few days in the germinal stage the cell mass takes the form of a fluid filled ball called a
blastocyst. The dividing cells cell moves through the fallopian tube, then they go throw to the
uterus. This chapter also talks about how although humans are not chickens their babies are formed
in the same way. Like in a chickens egg the yoke develops into a baby chicken, and in a human the
embryobecomes a fetus. Then the chapter starts to talk about the different things bleeding while
being pregnant can mean. Although a majority of people believe that if a woman bleeds while
pregnant mans that she has had a miscarriage, it can mean many of different things. Miscarriages
can be caused by many different things, and can cause many different types of problems. Such as a
high risk of having anxiety and it also puts relationships at a higher percentage of ending. One third
of percent end in a miscarriage. Miscarriages happed within the first three months of pregnancy.
Woman who are over the age of thirty are more likely to have a miscarriage. Miscarriages can be
cause from many things such as chromosomal problems, substance use, or hormonal problems. The

Dear Sir or Madam
I am writing this letter in order to turn your attention to two different sites on the Isle of Wight. I
have been contracted by DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food Rural Affairs) to assess the
current state of the southern coast of the island. The Isle of Wight is always susceptible to
landslides and coastal erosion. Hence investigations need to be done regularly in order to minimise
the negative impacts of these events. The sites I will be talking about include:
1.Alum Bay
2.Hanover Point
Alum Bay
Alum Bay is situated on the west coast of the Isle of Wight within close proximity with the
Needles (rock formation). The bay is famous for its multi coloured sand cliffs, which make it a
perfect tourist attraction as well as a point of interest for geologists. There is a series of
vertically bedded soft sand and clays, which are weak rocks due to being geologically very
recent. The vertical beds are formed over time due to tectonic plates pushing into each other (in
this case the African plate pushing into the Eurasian plate). The rock bed started off horizontally
and due to plate pressure, the distance between one side of the crust to the other was shortened and
hence a vertical bed was formed in the middle.
Just through searching for Alum Bay on Bing maps it is possible to spot problems straightaway.

The Toxic Waste Dump By Mary Jane
Mary Jane Ramirez was assigned the task of boosting morale and improving work place results
on the third floor of her company, which was referred to as the toxic waste dump . During a
chance meeting with Lonnie from the world famous Pike Place Fish in Seattle Washington,
which was in walking distance from her work site, she began to believe that turning her
department around for the better was possible. Lonnie taught her about the 4 step system of the
fish market. Mary Jane knew she wanted to implement his ideas, and get her staff involved in
the fish philosophy of: choose your attitude, play, make their day, and be present. Mary Jane
stepped out of her comfort zone and took a promotion with her firm. Her boss, Bill, passed down
that the upper management of the firm expected to see improvements in the department that she
now managed. The department lacked morale, did nothing to build relationships with their
internal customers, and was the joke of the whole firm, upper management even referred to them
as the toxic waste dump . Mary Jane revisited lecture material from self help seminars she had
attended in the past, studied inspirational quotes, and searched the inner corners of herself to try
and come up with a feasible solution to the duty set before her. It may have been luck or possibly
fate that guided her to the Pike Place Fish during her lunch hour where she was destined to meet
Lonnie. It seemed like a case of being at the right place at the

Data
Discuss the importance of data accuracy. Inaccurate data leads to inaccurate information. What
can be some of the consequences of data inaccuracy? What can be done to ensure data accuracy?
Data accuracy is important because inaccurate data leads may lead to such things as the closing
down of business, it may also lead to the loosing of jobs, and it may also lead to the failure of a
new product. To ensure that one s data is accurate one may double check the data given to them, as
well as has more than one person researching the data they are researching.

The Angel Of Death Research Paper
The Angel of Death
The Nazi party rose to power in 1933 under the leadership of Adolf Hitler, and would soon
unleash a reign of terror and death upon Europe. However, Hitler was not directly responsible for
all of the terror to ensue; there were many Nazi followers and soldiers who committed unspeakable
crimes of war and other atrocious acts even as far as crimes against humanity. One such man was
Dr. Josef Mengele.
Mengele was born March 16th, 1911 in GГјnzburg, Germany. He received his Ph. D. in physical
anthropology in 1935, when he was 24 from the University of Munich. A few years later, in 1937
he was the assistant to Dr. Otmar von Vercheur who was famous for his research on twins. In
1945, Mengele fled Germany. He was caught by US soldiers who later released him, not realizing
who exactly he was. Mengele was never found alive again. It was said that after he escaped, he
befriended a Nazi supporter in Brazil named Wolfgang Gerhard, who hid Mengele for years and

out while they were unknowingly being led to their demise.
Josef Mengele was a revered scholar and one of the most infamous members of the Nazi party

experimentation and torture on twins and many others. In most pictures found of Mengele he is

Violence, Terrorism, and the Interactions between Cultures
When humans from different cultures interact, the result is often bloodshed, domination and
disease. Also, without exception, the exchange of ideas gradually occurs. All of these factors have
shaped the course of history. While much of the spread of disease has been reduced since the Black
Death, much bloodshed still comes from the interaction of cultures, possibly from physical contact
without intellectual or rational interaction and understanding. Interaction itself is necessary and
does result in good as well, especially in terms of technological advancements.
The spread of disease is possibly one of the most dramatic results of interactions between cultures.

(Diamond) Millions of Romans died during the fifteen year epidemic. In the fourteenth century,
the Black Death (bubonic plague) traveled from Central Asia to Europe and killed a third of
Europe s population. It continued to reappear periodically for the next 300 years. The Great
Plague hit London in 1665 and was killing about 6,000 people a week by September. (Ponting)
Close quarters and a lack of good sanitation helped perpetuate the problem.
While this logic seems sound, it is also true that we have limited knowledge of the history of meso
American peoples and the diseases they may have discovered. For example, the Mayans
disappeared mysteriously, and disease has been suggested as the cause. What we do know is that
when the Europeans interacted with the indigenous American peoples, the Americans had no
immunity to the diseases the Europeans carried, while the Europeans health remained unaffected
by the interaction. (Diamond) The result of the spread of European diseases was drastic. When
CortГ©s tried to conquer the Aztecs in 1519, he barely managed to make his way back to the coast
with the remaining third of his men. The second time he tried, smallpox had preceded him, resulting
in the deaths of half of the Aztecs and some depressingly better luck for CortГ©s. The disease
killed over 18 million of Mexico s initial 20 million people by 1618. (Diamond)

Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Stages
Erikson s Psychosocial Stages Erik Erikson discussed psychosocial stages, his theory however
was predicated upon Sigmund Freud s theory of psychosexual stages. According to Erikson, the
ego develops as it prosperously resolves crises that are distinctly gregarious in nature. These
involve establishing a sense of confide in others, developing a sense of identity in society, and
availing the next generation prepare for the future. Erikson proposed a lifespan model of
developing , taking in five stages up to the age of 18 old age and three further levels beyond,
well into adulthood. Erikson suggests that there is still plenty of room for continued emergence
and development throughout one s life. Erikson put a great mountain of stress on the adolescent
time period , feeling it was a crucial stage for developing a person s identity. The outcome of this
maturation timetable is a wide and integrated set of life skills and abilities that function together
within the autonomous individual. However, instead of focusing on sexual development (like
Freud), he was interested in how children socialize and how this affects their sense of self.
Psychosocial Stages Erikson s (1959) theory of psychosocial development has eight distinct stages.
1. Trust vs. Mistrust Erikson s first psychosocial crisis occurs during the first year of life, during
this stage the infant is uncertain about the world in which they live. To resolution these feelings of
uncertainty the baby looks towards

The Glass Ceiling And Glass Escalator
Gender roles are socially constructed rules that dictate the types of acceptable behaviors based
on sex. In modern society, gender roles continue to hinder the progress of equality between a
man and a woman. A man and woman s acceptable role in a 1960s American society is clearly
portrayed in the episode of Smoke Gets in Your Eyes (2007), written by Matthew Wieners, of the
series Mad Men. The episode illustrates the concepts of the glass ceiling and glass escalator, and
how these concepts affect home and work life for two women: Peggy Olson, one who plays by her
genderrole, and Rachel Menken, one who breaks free of her gender role. The concept of the glass
ceiling is explained as the struggle of a certain group in upward mobility. As portrayed in the
episode, women struggle with the glass ceiling in typically men s occupations. In the episode,
Don Draper, the creative director of the Sterling Cooper advertising agency, must come up with
an advertising idea to effectively sell cigarettes after a claim has been made stating cigarettes are
harmful to the public (Wiener 2007). To help him combat the issue, the company provides
research on how people will enjoy smoking cigarettes regardless of the health risks. Although the
research may have been helpful in guiding his ideas, which is proven later on in the episode, Don
rejects the research simply because the researcher is a woman. This is evident when he does not
deny his colleague Salvatore Romano s sarcastic statement: Oh

Biological Theory And Psychological Theory
Now day s murder becomes very common in all countries due to increased desires and due to
increased competition. Unlawfully killing of one human by another especially with a desire to
harm others and see others suffering from pain, these are planned or sometimes unplanned. Murder
done by convict (Hashmukhial Mistry) because of depressed mind and family conflicts.
This essay explains the application of biological theory in case of Hashmukhial Mistry killed his
wife and his father before taking his own life. Biological theory is originated from Social trait
theory, deviant trait theory and psychological theory.
Biological theory of crime assumes that a person lead to criminal activities just because of their
physical attributes. Physical characteristics are generally transferred from parents to children. If
certain physical attributes which force a individual to do some criminal activities are transferred to
child from their parents that make the child more at risk of committing the crimes. Children mostly
learn all the things from the family and society which increased day by day with increasing age.
Johan Casper Lavater believed that shape of the skull and other facial features impacted human to
conduct criminal activities. Charles Goring developed a study that compared prisoners with
member of the Royal Engineer of London and found no differences in facial features or skull size
between the two groups. However, Goring did conclude that he prisoners tended to have

Why Rumor Is Defined By The New York Stock Exchange
Rumor is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as an unverified or unconfirmed statement or
report circulating in a community. In the financial community, rumors have an effect on the
direction of markets. The New York Stock Exchange in the United States is the epitome of how
rumors can impact trade. The fluctuation of stockand commodity (raw material) prices on a daily
basis is, in part, due to the daily news cycle. Although reports by news companies are supposed to
be factual, statements made can be unverified. Because of the large scale of social media, anyone
can make up rumors that can go viral. Stock traders rely on the news to determine what stocks they
will buy or sell. News reports include important information such as: new product developments,
company restructures, commodity reports, and scandals. Because of the rapid news, trading on the
stock markethappens very fast and it gets chaotic. As the buyers and sellers interact their process
sets the stock price. The news effects the stock price because if a positive story circulates, there
will be more buyers for a stock, which will raise the stock price; if a negative story circulates,
there will be fewer buyers, which will lower the stock price. This constant process can either earn
a big payday or be a total loss. Because of the money that people stand to either make or loose,
rumors have an effect on the way individuals behave on the stock market.
To better understand how rumors work within the financial

Heart Of Darkness By Joseph Conrad
In Joseph Conrad s, Heart of Darkness one encounters the telling of Conrad s adventures on a
steamship traveling up the Congo when numerous, drastic accountancies take place. During this
Victorian age, men are seen as heroes and women are occupied by roles of domesticity, which
ironically the story tells quite the opposite from these two ideals. Throughout the text, one will
also learn from the imperialistic society that is set forth by the Europeans and the controversy
that arises because of the social system within the home and civilization. This story is set up by a
narrator, by the name of Marlow, who re telling the experiences that Conrad had and how various
obstacles were overcome with he and his intended or fiancГ©. In Heart of Darkness, the main
themes that are discussed and brought to light throughout the entire story are that of the hypocrisy
behind the idea of Imperialism, the madness that surrounds the absurdity of evil, and the idea of the
last encounter that Marlow has with Kurtz s intended and the irony that surrounds the circumstance.
First, the issue at hand with Imperialism and the insincerity that surrounds it is baffling, as Marlow
is traveling in and out of the many stations that neighbor the river he is on. Marlow is in awe, as
he has to encounter and be a bystander of much torture, cruelty and a senseof slavery that these
station workers possess and fight for on a daily basis, highly focusing on the Inner and Outer
Station or Central Station. As

speaking (Yaikhong Usaha, 2012, p. 23). In Asian countries, EFL learners suffer even more in
language classroom anxiety because of insufficient language environment. According to Scovel

may exist in many aspects of language learning process. Language classroom anxiety is one of the
most common concerns. Many researches showed that students classroom anxiety will greatly

Public Speaking is a course that teaches students how to deliver a speech in public, and it is
believed to be valuable to a student s all around development (Lind, 2012). It has a long history in
western countries, but only a few Chinese universities begin to know it and open the course in
recent years. For those who don t have this course to benefit their students, ESP tasks might be a
good choice to help students reduce anxiety and improve their language performance.
Statement of the research problem
I design the current study to examine whether EPS tasks are efficient in reducing EFL learners
language classroom anxiety. The objective of this study is to find out the relationship among ESP
task, classroom anxiety, and language performance. Specifically, the study aims to answer the
following two questions: a) Can EPS tasks lead to EFL students language classroom anxiety
reduction? b) Can EPS tasks lead to EFL students language public presentation improvement? c) Is
there any relation between students anxiety level and language performance?

  • 2. Compare And Contrast Atticus And Mrs. Dubose Ines Abdennadher Eisenhour 9 hr LA 5 December 2016 Baldessari and her 2 year old daughter were pulled from the car but her 4 year old son, David DJ Harper, was trapped in his car seat. John and Joel Rechlitz, two off duty firefighters, took turns diving into the burning car to rescue the boy and, as a result of their bravery, DJ is now recuperating from burns covering 20 percent of his body (Kozinski, 2009). Everyday thousands of people get hurt, but at the same time millions of other get saved. 1If everyone in this planet were benevolent and courageous, then the number of people who get hurt can drastically decrease. It only takes one person to save a life. Firefighters, policemen, and doctors aren t the only ones who can help others, anyone can be a hero. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee uses the characterization of Atticus and Mrs. Dubose to prove that courage is about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Atticus is one of the characters who proves that courage is about thinking long and hard about what s right instead of relying on personal prejudice or gut reaction, and then doing what s right whether you win or lose. 2Throughout the whole case Atticus supported Tom Robinson; he went against the whole town just to help an innocent man. 3Atticus did everything he could do to defend Tom Robinson, but when he failed it really hurts him. When Aunt Alexandra told Atticus that he would ruin the family name, he still refused to change his mind. Throughout the whole novel Atticus still fought for what he believed in. Atticus told Jem that As you grow older, you ll see white men cheat black men every day of your life, but let me tell you something and don t you forget it whenever a white man does that to a black man, no matter who he is, how rich he is, or how fine a family he comes from, that white man is trash (page 233). • 4. According to Inderjeet Dokal there are currently 13 known... According to Inderjeet Dokal there are currently 13 known variations of genes that cause FA and they are as follows: FANCA, FANCB, FANCC, FANCD1, FANCD2, FANCE, FANCF, FANCG, FANCI, FANCJ, FANCL, FANCM, and FANCN (Dokal, 2008). Dokal and many other doctors agree that FA is a very penetrant genetic disorder. That is, all of these subtypes of the FA gene can cause many of the different types of cancer and bone marrow deficiencies that are associated with FA. For example, in the list given by Dokal, the subtype FANCA is known to express as a gene that controls certain aspects of protein coding. This one genetic subtype causes breakdowns in the various checkpoints throughout the cell cycle. As you can imagine, this one gene can destroy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The expressivity and penetrance of FA are largely based on the number and type of subtypes present. It was found that a large amount of the subtypes of FA actually interact with each other in one form or another to cause reactions and abnormalities in many of the pathways that are critical to the replication and regulation of DNA in each of the cells pathways. Interestingly enough, if just one of the subtypes is not present, then the expression of the interference is not as extreme as it could be if all of the subtypes needed for a category were present. With that said, it s important to understand what happens during a normal cycle of DNA replication. This will provide a greater understanding of the effects of FA on the DNA replication process. By understanding the processes and events of replication you can see how those subtypes of FA like FANCL can be so detrimental to the affected individuals cells. The process of replication in regards to DNA is a complicated set of processes in which thousands of base pairs are accurately copied and translated to produce new strands of DNA. It s important to note that DNA replication is a semi conservative process, this means that every time a new DNA molecule is formed, an old strand is incorporated along with the new strand. Each cycle recycles at least one of the old strands. The process of DNA replication begins at specific sites called the origin of replication. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Degree Of Mba Degree There is controversy in the added value a student gets out of a degree in Masters of Business Administration (MBA). Experts outside of the field argue that the MBA degree program provides courses for students, but that the courses are not teaching the students skills that they need for the field. Chris Roebuck says that MBA School graduates educated bad leaders, (62). Jeffrey Pfeffer; a professor of organizational behavior says that not all successful business leaders have an MBA degree (12). Supporting professor Pfeffer, Charles Haddad mentions that successful businessmen have made a career without a degree in MBA. For example, Bill Gates and Ted Turner say they didn t bother with the degree because over a span of years the degree lessens in value (12). Attaining an MBA degree has better benefits than those who don t because a degree ensures that you are qualified and skillful in doing your job. Having an MBA degree enhances managementpractice because it gives you tools that prepare you for the field, a broader perspective on how business is run, and enriches your learning experience by networking with peers of various disciplines. MBA programs are designed to prepare, and enhance managers for difficulties they might find in the field. • 11. A Child s Pursuit Of Happiness On January 23, 2016, Iowa, passed and sent a bill to the state Senate that makes it legal for children younger than the age of 14 to handle a pistol and ammunition as long as they are being supervised by a parent or another person. Most of the advocates for this new bill want this law not to ensure their child s safety from potential harm, but merely the right for their child to legally use a pistol for recreational purposes. The problem with this new law is that now countless citizens sense of security relies on whether a parent teaches their 1 14 year old how to correctly use a pistol. In 2015, statistics have shown that a 3 year old was twice as likely to injure or kill a person than a 5 17 year old child. In this situation, a child s pursuit of happiness should not infringe on another person s right to security. Most children do not have the ability to think rationally about their decisions. In 2013, a 2 year old in Kentucky was shot and killed by her 5 year old brother. Although there was no guardian supervision when the homicide happened, the child did not have the capability to understand how dangerous a gun can become. There have been hundreds of cases like the one mentioned previously happening throughout the United States. Studies have shown that children are less able than adults to make risky choices and comprehend the disadvantages and advantages of their choices. These studies support the basic belief that ... • 13. Hades And Persephone Research Paper The Ancient Greeks lived a life oriented around religion, and this religious centered life came with religious ceremonies to celebrate both men and women s coming of age into adulthood. One interesting rite of passage for both men and women were the Eleusinian mysteries. These mysteries are based and centered on the myth of Hades and Persephone, commonly used as an explanation for the changing of the seasons, but has two other interpretations: the sexual awakening and becoming a woman, and also the idea that is is possible to come back from the afterlife. Hades may not be the end of everyone. Prior to her kidnapping, Persephone had no name and was referred to as Kore, or maiden. Upon being kidnapped by Hades, according to some versions of the myth, the virginal goddesses came to her defense, not wanting to lose one of their own. Demeter, Goddess of Agriculture, falls into mourning at the loss of her daughter, or the prospect of her daughter growing up and becoming a woman. • 16. Evaluating The Best Educational Placement For Children... Every year as their children enter the educational system, many parents of children with special needs have to choose the best educational fit to maximize their children s long term success. I have been one of those parents. Raising a child with special needs comes with many challenges along the way, but the choice of setting in which a child with special needs obtains their educationhas a long lasting impact on a child s physical and emotional health. For this reason parents in collaboration with educators must weigh many factors to determine the best educational placement for children with special educational needs. Therefore, placement in an educational setting must take into consideration the setting that provides for the best interests of each particular child. Various educational options should continue to be available to students with special needs to ensure they are receiving the education that is most appropriate for their areas strengths and weaknesses. The current special education system determines the placement for these students in accordance with the recommendation of the child s educational team. This group is made up of parents, educators and administrators from the child s school district, as well as administrators from an alternative schooling option if applicable (Ohio Department of Education). • 18. Disadvantages Of Resilience In Children Resilience is the process of successfully adapting to various challenges or extremely threatening circumstances (Ungar et al., 2013; Ungar, Russell, Connelly, 2014). Resilient children develop protective responses during times of uncertainty, threat, and surprise. It is an active process involving the interaction of vulnerability, risk, and protective aspects (Benard, 2004). Resilient children experience positive results in their development despite the extreme challenges they encounter (Martin, 2013). Individuals become resilient in response to internal and external factors that they have, which are called protective factors. These protective mechanisms are developed within children by having good role models and access to adequate home, school, and community support (Im, Hughes, Kwok, Puckett, Cerda, 2013; Ungar et al., 2013). These protective factors help to buffer adversity. The greater the protective factors, the more likely it is that a person will persevere through life s difficulties (Ungar, Russell, Connelly, 2014). The literature identified a number of protective factors found among children who were anticipated to struggle, yet experienced positive outcomes (Benard, 1993). Ungar et al. (2013) observed that a large percentage of children who grow up in adverse environments display resilience by overcoming the challenges that confront them. The Leadership Theory Of Organizational Needs As previously mentioned, it is important that organizational needs are met by ensuring that leaders have the right skills, while also having a foundation of a specific leadership theory to drive the daily functions of the organization. As important as these aspects are, it is even more important that leaders take the time to evaluate their leadershipstyle and philosophy to ensure that they remain effective and efficient in their work. Fisher (2009) notes that it is important to recognize the type of leadership that is most effective with staff, so that it can be applied accordingly. By taking the time to self evaluate, it will allow for self reflection on one s own philosophies and the ability to grow as a leader in their areas of weakness and enhance the areas that are the strongest. What is the nature of existence? Epistemology is the study of knowledge. How do we know what we know? How can we establish truth and certainty? Are their limits to what we can know based on how we come to know it? These epistemological questions when combined with ontological questions have philosophers pondering what exists and how we know it exists. They went on to generalize that every human idea is relative to the circumstances surrounding the originator of the idea, and that true knowledge is unattainable. (pg. 42) The second half of the quote intrigued me. People are too dependent on one another to formulate or recognize new truths. The movie Flatland showed how people s thoughts and ideas are limited to what they can see and what they experience. The circles were powerful and influential and clearly knew they could control the thoughts of their people. The circumstance surrounding the idea of the existence of the 3rd dimension was the shapes were to be punished if they disobeyed the circles and tried to prove there was a 3rd dimension. Our faith and love in God who first loved us (1 John 4:19) can shield the fiery darts of wickedness hurled by Satan, the real source of temptation (Ephesians 6:16). As you look at the advertisement, your eyes will automatically detect the picture of the corpse of an Albatross bird on hard concrete and its open abdomen. As a substitute to intestines, stray objects that are thrown out by humans take place inside its stomach. A lighter, a few bottle caps, and other plastic objects was consumed by the bird and caused its death. Rather than the rubbish being in the trash, it is instead inside the bird who innocently mistook the items for food. Since the background is black and the Albatross feathers are similar, they both blend together. This feature gives focus on the junk inside its stomach that can be easily spotted. On the bottom right corner of the advertisement, the logo for Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) is seen, which builds the credibility of the maker of the advert. The purpose of the print ad is to spread awareness throughout mankind, and EWT is doing their part of protecting wildlife from facing extinction. • 34. To A Mouse And Louse Summary Silly Little Critter (Three Messages From Mouse and Louse) When Robert Burns wrote To a Mouse as well as To a Louse, he had to have been thinking about it pretty hard, because the messages of each text connect to one another in many ways. In both of these texts, he used little critters that might gross some people out. He didn t really use a creature that very many people found cute in any way. It was a very creative way to go about, because he decided he would use a animal/insect that people don t really pay too much attention to. There was a very genius reason to why he decided to use pests as the main topic of his texts, and that s because it made all of the messages more clear to the reader. Robert Burns was a really known author, and many people thought very highly of him. According to Brooke A. Stopford, His greatest power, that which made him... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a very true message in many ways. The main reason why this is most likely the best message in the texts, is because Burns talked about how they don t have to live their life struggling because of worrying. Something that humans do a lot of the time is stress over things that might be big, but might also not be as important as we act like it is. In the text To a Mouse, Burns said, Still thou art blest, compared wi me! The present only toucheth thee. What was being said in this sentence is that even though the mouse s house got completely destroyed, instead of sitting there and worrying about it, he just started building a new one. He doesn t know about the past, nor the future. All that animals, as well as insects know about is the present, which gives them a huge advantage over us. Same thing goes for the louse in To a Louse. Food can be gathered by either hunting for it or producing it, however, which method is healthier for human civilization? Some people believe that producing foods and domesticating animals (agriculturein Neolithic Revolution) is more beneficial to humans. However, the reasonings for which hunting and gathering is healthier overall are abundant. Hunting and gathering (way of getting food in the Paleolithic Era) supplies a better and more varied amount of nutrients, less vulnerability to famine and disease, and good leisure time with less work. Progressivists (those who believe in the benefits of agriculture) say that agriculture was more beneficial due to the fact that you could get more food for less work. An example of a catastrophic outcome with producing food could be the Great Famine in Ireland, where potatoes became infested and became unable to eat which triggered the famine due to farmers being so dependent on potatoes. • 39. The Real Miracle at Dunkirk and the Other Channel Ports in... The real miracle at Dunkirk and the other Channel ports in May 1940 was that Hitler halted his Panzer divisions against the advice of almost all his generals, and allowed nearly 600,000 British and French troops to escape to England. Had he not done so, the military disaster that the British Expeditionary Force experienced in France would have been total, and none of its troops would have been able to fight on another day. Even so, they lost most of their planes, tanks, artillery and heavy equipment, while the loss of aircraft by the RAF imperiled it ability to defend the country against the Luftwaffe. Although Winston Churchill and his Minister of Information Alfred Duff Cooper tried to put the best face on the evacuation possible, especially by emphasizing the role the small boats had played in the rescue effort, they were under no illusions about the magnitude of the disaster. Hitler gave various explanations for why he refused to continue ground operations against Dunkirk none of them particularly convincing and it has puzzled historians for seventy years since. Most of the top German commanders were literally speechless when they heard the order to halt and leave Dunkirk to the Luftwaffe, although Field Marshal Gerd von Rundstedt was concerned about possible British and French counterattacks on the exposed northern flank of the German army. • 41. A Madman s Confession In The Tell-Tale Heart By Edgar... A Madman s Confession Edgar Allan Poe s The Tell Tale Heart is a magnificent tale of an unnamed narrator attempting to defend his sanity while revealing he has committed murder. The storyteller makes us believe that he is in full control of his mind yet he is experiencing a disease that causes him oversensitivity of the senses. However, it is not the disease that draws us into the story; it is the way Poe vividly illustrates the destruction mental illness has that leaves a stain on the reader s mind. There are several passages within the story that demonstrate auditory hallucinations, deluded beliefs thought processes, and violent tendencies. In modern times we can conclude these are symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia. However, when this story was composed, paranoid schizophrenia was not yet discovered, meaning this tale would have been originally considered dark and sinister, compared to society s current standards. ... Poe again illustrates how destructive the illness is on the narrator, as the narrator is no longer able to tell the difference between reality and his delusion and could only conclude it was the old man s heart beating beneath the floorboards. In conclusion, Edgar Allan Poe s The Tell Tale Heartis an incredible gothic fiction story which Poe eloquently illustrates how mental illness can consume a person s mind and untimely destroy how reality is perceived. The vertical beds are formed over time due to tectonic plates pushing into each other (in this case the African plate pushing into the Eurasian plate). Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Stages Erikson s Psychosocial Stages Erik Erikson discussed psychosocial stages, his theory however was predicated upon Sigmund Freud s theory of psychosexual stages. According to Erikson, the ego develops as it prosperously resolves crises that are distinctly gregarious in nature. These involve establishing a sense of confide in others, developing a sense of identity in society, and availing the next generation prepare for the future. Erikson proposed a lifespan model of developing , taking in five stages up to the age of 18 old age and three further levels beyond, well into adulthood. Erikson suggests that there is still plenty of room for continued emergence and development throughout one s life. Erikson put a great mountain of stress on the adolescent time period , feeling it was a crucial stage for developing a person s identity. The outcome of this maturation timetable is a wide and integrated set of life skills and abilities that function together within the autonomous individual. However, instead of focusing on sexual development (like Freud), he was interested in how children socialize and how this affects their sense of self. Psychosocial Stages Erikson s (1959) theory of psychosocial development has eight distinct stages. 1. Trust vs. Mistrust Erikson s first psychosocial crisis occurs during the first year of life, during this stage the infant is uncertain about the world in which they live. • 54. The Glass Ceiling And Glass Escalator Gender roles are socially constructed rules that dictate the types of acceptable behaviors based on sex. In modern society, gender roles continue to hinder the progress of equality between a man and a woman. A man and woman s acceptable role in a 1960s American society is clearly portrayed in the episode of Smoke Gets in Your Eyes (2007), written by Matthew Wieners, of the series Mad Men. The episode illustrates the concepts of the glass ceiling and glass escalator, and how these concepts affect home and work life for two women: Peggy Olson, one who plays by her genderrole, and Rachel Menken, one who breaks free of her gender role. The concept of the glass ceiling is explained as the struggle of a certain group in upward mobility. As portrayed in the episode, women struggle with the glass ceiling in typically men s occupations. In the episode, Don Draper, the creative director of the Sterling Cooper advertising agency, must come up with an advertising idea to effectively sell cigarettes after a claim has been made stating cigarettes are harmful to the public (Wiener 2007). To help him combat the issue, the company provides research on how people will enjoy smoking cigarettes regardless of the health risks. Although the research may have been helpful in guiding his ideas, which is proven later on in the episode, Don rejects the research simply because the researcher is a woman. This is evident when he does not deny his colleague Salvatore Romano s sarcastic statement: Oh ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unlawfully killing of one human by another especially with a desire to harm others and see others suffering from pain, these are planned or sometimes unplanned. Murder done by convict (Hashmukhial Mistry) because of depressed mind and family conflicts. This essay explains the application of biological theory in case of Hashmukhial Mistry killed his wife and his father before taking his own life. Biological theory is originated from Social trait theory, deviant trait theory and psychological theory. Biological theory of crime assumes that a person lead to criminal activities just because of their physical attributes. Physical characteristics are generally transferred from parents to children. • 56. Why Rumor Is Defined By The New York Stock Exchange Rumor is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as an unverified or unconfirmed statement or report circulating in a community. In the financial community, rumors have an effect on the direction of markets. The New York Stock Exchange in the United States is the epitome of how rumors can impact trade. The fluctuation of stockand commodity (raw material) prices on a daily basis is, in part, due to the daily news cycle. Although reports by news companies are supposed to be factual, statements made can be unverified. Because of the large scale of social media, anyone can make up rumors that can go viral. Stock traders rely on the news to determine what stocks they will buy or sell. News reports include important information such as: new product developments, company restructures, commodity reports, and scandals. Because of the rapid news, trading on the stock markethappens very fast and it gets chaotic. As the buyers and sellers interact their process sets the stock price. The news effects the stock price because if a positive story circulates, there will be more buyers for a stock, which will raise the stock price; if a negative story circulates, there will be fewer buyers, which will lower the stock price. This constant process can either earn a big payday or be a total loss. Because of the money that people stand to either make or loose, rumors have an effect on the way individuals behave on the stock market. To better understand how rumors work within the financial ... • 57. Heart Of Darkness By Joseph Conrad In Joseph Conrad s, Heart of Darkness one encounters the telling of Conrad s adventures on a steamship traveling up the Congo when numerous, drastic accountancies take place. During this Victorian age, men are seen as heroes and women are occupied by roles of domesticity, which ironically the story tells quite the opposite from these two ideals. Throughout the text, one will also learn from the imperialistic society that is set forth by the Europeans and the controversy that arises because of the social system within the home and civilization. This story is set up by a narrator, by the name of Marlow, who re telling the experiences that Conrad had and how various obstacles were overcome with he and his intended or fiancГ©. In Heart of Darkness, the main themes that are discussed and brought to light throughout the entire story are that of the hypocrisy behind the idea of Imperialism, the madness that surrounds the absurdity of evil, and the idea of the last encounter that Marlow has with Kurtz s intended and the irony that surrounds the circumstance. First, the issue at hand with Imperialism and the insincerity that surrounds it is baffling, as Marlow is traveling in and out of the many stations that neighbor the river he is on. Marlow is in awe, as he has to encounter and be a bystander of much torture, cruelty and a senseof slavery that these station workers possess and fight for on a daily basis, highly focusing on the Inner and Outer Station or Central Station. It is widely known that in EFL learning situations, many students exhibit fear of foreign language speaking (Yaikhong Usaha, 2012, p. 23). In Asian countries, EFL learners suffer even more in language classroom anxiety because of insufficient language environment. Public Speaking is a course that teaches students how to deliver a speech in public, and it is believed to be valuable to a student s all around development (Lind, 2012). It has a long history in western countries, but only a few Chinese universities begin to know it and open the course in recent years.
