I went to the Scottsdale Community College library website and searched whaling. All the sources I
chosen was through Academic Search Premier. Every thing that I read put me in a new perspective
about my topic. I learned that whaling has been going on since the eleventh century, and commercial
whaling became illegal in 1931 (Matera 3). I found out that the United States actually whaled at some
point but it was not for the meat, it was for the whale oil. During the eighteenth and nineteenth

Throughout history, the comparison of faith and science have caused debate between our historians.
However, they can agree that the nineteenth century was somewhat of a blurred line in American
history to determine where the population s allegiance laid. While the Second Great Awakening riled
up a lot of devout Baptists and Methodists, science had also taken a toll with the Industrial Revolution.
Which is still one of the most significant economic changes in American history to date. And although
Darwin s finds did not occur in the US, the effects of his theory of evolution made men and women in
the states question their beliefs and faith in religion. Technological developments also created issues
for the church as they were losing grip of power on their believers. Even though religion played a
large role in the early nineteenth century, given the facts, science and innovation captured the interest
of America s people and undermined their faith. Although faith was not the leading candidate for
winning over the allegiance, faith in religion runs deep down to the foundations of America. The early
settlers, such as the pilgrims, ran from Europe to practice their own faith without the accusation of
heresy. Puritanism was a religious reform movement that sought to purify the Church of England.

Since a young age, my life has been centered on artistic expression and a fascination for beauty. At the
age of 9, I told my scientist mother and mathematician father that I wanted to be a ballerina. My
parents were always big supporters of the arts, and encouraged me to try many creative outlets. They

Intro
Casablanca, first released on January 23rd, 1943 is undoubtedly one of the masterpieces of Classical
Hollywood film. Written and released in the midst of World War Two it explores themes such as love,
desire and especially sacrifice. Although the love story of the protagonists is the cause and catalyst for
most of the narrative, one would not necessarily associate it with the conventional Classical
Hollywood love story. Rather as a fabula based on the principle of the importance of sacrifice in order
to overcome a common enemy, in this case the Nazis. Casablanca does indeed contain many of the
common characteristics identified with the Classical Hollywood film. An example being the the way

It is of utmost importance to the Harmony Creek Middle School that they conduct research into how
their students are learning in different classrooms. They believe that their teachers may need to
develop the same methodology in their classroom instruction in order to achieve the highest math
scores possible. I will investigate Harmony Creek Middle School test scores based on a number of
factors: classroom methods of teaching, gender, race, socioeconomic status and teacher student race. I
will use the ANOVA as well as the t test to investigate this. I will begin with my introduction in which
I will give more information about the teachers. Next, a review of literature on the aspects and
research that has been obtained on each method of instruction used at Harmony Creek Middle School
will be discussed and reported on. Finally, I will take a look at the results, and I will give my
