4.3 Christmas Resists The Christmas Creep
4.3 Christmas Resists the Christmas Creep
The ritual situations that play a role in this case on one of the most socially celebrated holidays is
called Christmas. Ritual situation is a consumer behavior term that describes a consumer s shopping
pattern. This traditional Christmas holiday season is a major one for retailers because consumers
make a lot of purchases and retailers increase their sales. What motivates the consumer is the
stimulus that activates the what, when, and where of how a consumer purchases merchandise.
Christmas Creep is a marketing strategy in which wholesalers and retailers manipulate consumers to
make early purchases of merchandise by displaying different scenic decorations in stores and e
commerce for the Christmas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Target is using a multi channel marketing strategy to attract consumers who choose to do their
Christmas shopping early. Some of the multi marketing strategies that Target uses are by stocking
and displaying some Christmas merchandise in the store before the holiday season even begins.
Also, by creating an atmosphere of using different displays and creating a certain mood of
happiness during the Christmas season. Target seeks an emotional appeal to the customers. They
start advertising Christmas merchandise by sending out emails and direct mailings, offering
merchandise for sale to only customers who have certain preferences about shopping early before
the holiday begins.
By participating in Christmas Creep, the marketers serve as the problem solver to the consumer
problem by making merchandise available through the store and e commerce to satisfy the
consumers needs and want to buy goods early. During the holiday season, consumers normally
purchase gifts for family and friends. Since not all consumers purchase their items within the
holiday season, marketers use the Christmas Creep to get early bird sales an early start to ensure
that the maximum amounts of customers are buying

Brief Summary Of Survival In Auschwitz By Primo Levi
In Survival in Auschwitz, Primo Levi depicts a life where, under the severe conditions of hunger,
cold, illness, and constant fear, men are transformed into beasts, and where justice and morality
become insignificant in the fight for survival. Upon entering Auschwitz, families are separated and
immediately hundreds are sent to their deaths. Tattooed and given their new identity of serial
numbers, many forget their own past and their names. Initially, Levi accepts his imminent death as
everyone emphasizes that the only exit from Auschwitz is by way of the chimney. But for the next
year, Levi learns to live pragmatically and efficiently under the Nazis continuous brutality. In doing
so, he discovers two very different reactions from living in Auschwitz: those that are saved and
those that are drowned. The drowned rarely exist in normal society, but in Auschwitz, they are
everywhere. For many, the constant cruelty dehumanizes them to the level of animals, where men
accept their fate and work themselves to certain death. Conversely, a few manage to push back and
use their strength, intelligence, and patience to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Friendships were based on pragmatism and selfish interest. Faced with utter solitude, many
prisoners would lose all motivation for survival. Out of the thousands that entered Auschwitz
weekly, only a few hundred would survive. These usually included the most valuable of prisoners,
such as doctors, tailors, and shoemakers. Levi and many other camp veterans understood this and
reacted to make themselves appear useful and not to drown in their detestable conditions. In doing
so, the saved depended on the underground art of economizing on everything, on breath,
movements, even thoughts. In the process, Levi witnesses how this strategy often leads the saved
to social savagery and how the struggle for life is reduced to its primordial

Analysis Of The Book Four Kinds Of Chance By James H....
The Chance to have good or bad Luck. There are times in life that we attribute good luck to our
hard work, dedication or talent but there are some other times when we can say that luck is just a
chance that we get. As we can see on the work of this two authors James H. Austin the author of
Four kinds of chancepublished in Saturday Review and Robert H. Frank author of why luckmatters
much more than you think published in The Atlantic (May 2016) they show the reader how
chances can influence in different ways. After reading their work I consider Robert H Frank article
more effectively fulfills his thesis.
Austin article was more dedicated to the general public, students, adults, people who not
necessarily needs to have education. In his article he uses a vocabulary that most of the people
could understand also he gave us definitions in some of the words like for instance the phrase
like a mirage (p.11) he explained with a lot of details what mirage was, by doing this we as a
reader can have more knowledge of why he is using that word as an example. He informed us
since the begging that he was going to talk about four varieties of chance and the best way to
start with the definition of chance. As we continue reading he guides us by referring to the
chances as Chance I, Chance II, Chance III and concluding with Chance IV where we realize that
he express more and have a detail example on how chance IV works. If we move to the examples
we can perceive that he is showing

Fandom Research Paper
Towards the end of sixth grade (I think), I found out about fandoms. A fandom is a community of
fans, participating in fanac and interacting in some way, whether through discussions or creative
works. Some people feel that those in the same fandom as them are like family. We talk to each
other, try to make each other happy, support one another, and give advice and suggestions. Before
you continue, I highly suggest not looking up any animes, shows, or web comics that I may
mention, no matter how awesome I say they are, unless you are okay with staying up until one in
the morning because you wanted to know what happens next. Also, you might end up spending a
lot of money if you want to cosplayas a character. The Warrior cat books by Erin Hunter are great,

The trolls have four quadrants, and humans only have one! Matespritship is the closest to human
romance. Kismesissitude is based on mutual hatred rather than mutual love. Moirallegiance is often
misinterpreted as best buds forever or bromance , but with the Homestuck trolls, the emphasis is on
the fact that one of the two has particularly violent tendencies, even by troll standards, and their
interactions with their moirail help to make them less dangerous to themselves and others.
Auspisticism is probably the furthest from anything humans actually do. Basically, an auspistice
mediates between two normal enemies (as opposed to kismeses), in order to prevent it from
becoming too violent. Matespritship and moirallegiance are called red rom , or red romance . They
are based on positive feelings. Kismesissitude and auspisticism are called black rom , or black

Non-Traditional Women In Chaucer s Canterbury Tales
Non Traditional Women in Medieval Marriages
In Chaucer s Canterbury Tales there are sections that are purely based on marriage, and in these
stories a couple of the women are portrayed as being non traditional wives in their marriages. A
marriage in medieval England is not like what marriage is today. The wives in both The Wifeof
Bath s Tale and The Merchant s Tale are what today s society would expect from a woman or wife.
A non traditional wife is someone who wants authority, is outspoken, and sexually active prior to
marriage or during marriage; Chaucer s wives do not portray all of these traits. The comparison
between these two wives is the result of Chaucer s view on marriageable women. The theme seems
to be, starting with The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

response to the Wife of Bath s Tale , to show a woman that is completely submissive to her
husband. Griselda is the traditional medieval wife, she is almost impossible to compete with. Jill

Establishing Goals
John Green, one of my biggest role models, once said, Imagining the future is a kind of nostalgia.
Nostalgia means something you long for, I long for a bright future. In my future, I desire to be an
author. In order to accomplish that, I must thoughtfully construct a plan that will lead me to the
ultimate result of the life that I crave for. Authors influenced me to wantto become an author
myself. After reading a wide range of books by varying writers like Ned Vizzini, J.D Salinger,
Natalie Babbit, Mitch Albom, and as I said earlier, John Green, I am determined to leave that
evangelical zeal that you get from books, and only books, on my readers the way many books
have done to me before. Establishing goals is crucial to actualizing my dreams of having a
gratifying career as a Young Adult/Teen novelist. Knowledge is a key aspect when creating the
goals that you will pursue because it is extremely beneficial to know which universities you are
bound to attend. For instance, my university of choice is Columbia Universityof New York. I would
like to study at Columbia University because I am interested in the clubs and activities they have
available there such as The Artist Society Blog, Quiz Bowl, and Feminist Thought. Furthermore,
Columbia University has many classes and courses for writing. Defining clear goals for myself will
motivate me to propel forward with my endeavors. With a definite mindset of where I want to end

The Balance Between Customer Service And Resource...
The main objective of nicola is to find the balance between customer service and resource
utilization, so at nice framing ,in order to meet the demands of the customer and able to satisfy
their needs ,it was necessary to have a good levels of finished stock . This actually meant that
Nicola needed to have enough raw materials at all times. Thus availability of a wide variety of
stock meant that she actually have an edge over its competitors. In order to use her resources ,
she used to make little batches of same size frames instead of one at a time and the unused stock
was kept for future use .The stock which was not in use does effect her working capital but not for
long because of its dedication towards her customers by meeting there demand at all times.
Nicola s business of Nice Framing was to put main focus on the customers , as the business is now

many raw materials and had a wide variety of finished framed pictures in stock to wait for the

The part of the reading that had me most engaged and interested was the section on the cave
paintings done by the early humans. The way that they painted these images were just so intricate
and with so much detail, it had me in awe. The fact that some of these animals seemed to be drawn
in motion gives me the inclination that it was something more meaningful than drawing for the
sake of making art, a lot of time and effort must have been spent on this for it not to have some sort

Human Nature In Lord Of The Flies
Mark Twain once said, Everyone is a moon, and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody
. What the 19th century American writer said perfectly captures the state of human nature: there is
a bad aspect for every good one. Sometimes, however, the dark side outshines the light of the moon.
Nowhere is this more apparent than in William Goldings timeless classic, The Lord of the Flies
(1954), where a group of boys are stranded on a deserted island in the absence of adults and must
set up society in order to be rescued. As the novelcontinues, the boys progressively abandon
society and seek evil deeds, led by the antagonist, Jack. With a lack of society, humans revert to a
more primitive and evil nature. The descent in human nature in the boys can be identified from
the very beginning. After the boys have found each other on the beach, Ralph decides to take
Jack and Simon on a expedition to find out where they are. However, Piggy wants to join them,
but Ralph has other plans. You can t come. Piggy s glasses were misted again this time with
humiliation (25). Even from the beginning of the novel, the boys evil intentions are clear. Ralph,
being the leader, shows the boys that excluding and picking on others is okay, which escalates as
the novel progresses. While Ralph s actions can be viewed as childish and simply the result of his
upbringing, his immediate willingness to satisfy his pleasure at the expense of Piggy s shows that
the boys are willing to commit bad

Healthcare Econometrics
The goal of econometrics is to aid decision making in a business setting. By analyzing seemingly
unrelated sets of information, economists hope to see correlations that may help make informed
choices. (Ouliaris, 2012) Econometrics has its limitations if data is incomplete or if the sampling
period is insufficiently short the resulting information may not give the full picture as intended by
the economists. (Ramcharan, 2012)This paper will discuss the use of econometrics in the
healthcare setting. Use of statistics and analysis may have a role in decision making in future
hospitalspending. One example of how an econometrics study may help is in the healthcare
setting: hospitals and physician providers rely on professional nursing and other allied health staff
to care for the patient consumers of in the healthcare field. It can be difficult to predict staffing
needs in the short term; how many nurses are required to safely care for patients within the budget
in the next week, month or even year? Many factors must be considered such as patient acuity,
meaning how sick are the patients, what is the skill level of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Unfortunately the analysis may be somewhat ambiguous, or may not tell the whole story. It will be
extremely important to use other data sources to help in the decision making process. In the case of
the hypothetical health care system, a look at the slowing trend of healthcare spending and the
increasing cost of health insurance are very important considerations when deciding to expand
services or build new facilities. (Farley, 2014) Other factors to consider would be: is the political
climate of the area accepting of new hospital growth? Is the population of a given area in need of
new services? Econometrics should be just one tool to be used in such important decision

plasmodial species predominate. Almost every malarial death is caused by P. falciparum.[
Malaria is caused by an infection with protozoa of the genus Plasmodium. The name malaria,
from the Italian mala aria, meaning bad air , comes from the linkage suggested by Giovanni
Maria Lancisi (1717) of malaria with the poisonous vapours of swamps. This species name comes
from the Latin falx, meaning sickle , and parere meaning to give birth . The organism itself was
first seen by Laveran on November 6, 1880 at a military hospital in Constantine, Algeria, when he
discovered a microgametocyte exflagellating. Patrick Manson (1894) hypothesised that mosquitoes
could transmit malaria. This hypothesis was experimentally confirmed independently by Giovanni
Battista Grassi and Ronald Ross in 1898. Grassi (1900) proposed an exerythrocytic stage in the life
cycle, later confirmed by Short, Garnham, Covell and Shute (1948), who found Plasmodium vivax
in the human liver.

Saudi Arabi An Experiment For Reduction The Oil Production
Figure 5 shows how the United States has a developing oil production that U.S. is the largest oil
consumer in the world. When the largest consumer produces a massive amount of oil it will
influence many countries that depend on the revenue budget from oil exports. The United States
added almost 1 million barrels per day of oil production between 2012 and 2013 (Ratner, Tiemann,
2015, p6). With this production of the United Stateseffects the oil prices in the global because the
U.S. imports oil decreases and the supply of oil in the world increases.
Many countries convince Saudi Arabia to rebalanced the supply through reducing the oil production
to let the price go up, but Saudi Arabia believes the market with this price will be rebalancing.
Saudi Arabia has an experiment for reduction the oil production happened in 30 years ago. Dermat
Gately(1986), New York University, says restriction from 1979 to 1985: each cut output at least 20
percent. But the greatest percentage cutbacks were borne by Saudi Arabia (more than
60 percent of its 1979 level) (p.241). Saudi Arabia tried to face the collapse price by reducing oil
production and the largest sacrificed came from Saudi Arabia. While Saudi Arabia decreased the
production they lose many consumers that were imported the oil from Saudi Arabia. The one of the
most important issues to maintain consumers is trustful to you. When Saudi Arabia decreased the

Hydrocephaly-MASA Spectrum Analysis
Hydrocephaly MASA Spectrum is the most common XLID syndrome with a structural
malformation of the central nervous system. Isolation of mutations in L1CAM has allowed
inclusion of four entities that were previously thought to be separate entities in the spectrum; these
include X linked hydrocephaly, MASA syndrome, XLID clasp thumb and complicated spastic
paraplegia (Stevenson RE., 2013). Hypotonia is usually present initially and replaced by spasticity
in the late childhood. Interestingly, the degree of intellectual development of these individuals
appears to be correlated with the severity of hydrocephaly. Hydranencephaly represents the most
severe form of ARX associated XLID. In most cases it is coupled with abnormalities of neuronal

Struggle Against Savage Roots
Society s Struggle Against Its Savage Roots
Webster s online dictionary defines civilization as a society in an advanced state of social
development . Without the restraints of society, the behaviour of people will regress to their
savage beginnings, due to the fact that one s need for survival will overpower all other impulses.
The descent into savagery, man s inherent desire to survive over anything else, and the need for
civilization and order shows how society unnaturally holds everyone together. Society artificially
bonds everything together by imposing rules and structures and without the reminders of
civilization and its conventions the savagery of human nature emerges.
The strength of a society can be linked to its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The light of civilization in the Congo is depicted as evil, symbolized by the white accountant
who is clothed in white starched linen amongst the white man s civilized endeavours (digging
holes) set against the dark natives crouched in pain against the dark tree trunks who are starving
and dying as they work for the white man. Secondly, Kurtz is on a mission to procure ivory and
to impose society onto a region of darkness. In his report to his superiors, he scrawls across the
bottom, Exterminate all the brutes! (Conrad 128) Kurtz does not believe that the natives are in
any way civilized, nor does he believe that the natives can become civilized on their own. He
does not see the Africans as human beings, but merely as animals. Instead of civilizing them,
which he obviously has decided would be foolish, he feels it would be easier simply to kill all of
the natives. In these beliefs, one can see the darkness that comes from the civilizing mission. The
darkness is within Kurtz (and people like him), and that darkness is brought to light in the minds
of people like Marlow who see the savagery in their ways. Furthermore, a contemporary of
Conrad, William Golding, also explores the theme of descending into savagery. Embedded within
his story of a group of young boys struggling to survive alone on a deserted island separated from
society they had known are insights to the

Freddie Mac Fraud The definition of fraud is an intentional deception or deceit, perpetrated for
profit or to gain some unfair or dishonest advantage (dictionary.com). Fraud is a breach of law and
can be punishable by law. Mortgage fraud is one of the financial crimes where a company materially
misrepresents or omits information on its mortgage loan documentation in order to secure a loan
larger than what is actually required for the business. It could be perpetrated by one or more
participants, including the borrower, real estate agent, loan officer, appraiser or multiple related
parties. Fraud not only destroys a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Loan level misrepresentation might include fabricated employment, income, or asset documents.
Consumer and mortgage debts might not be disclosed on the application. The sources of funding
might also be misrepresented. Usually, the recorded owner should always be the same as the
person on the contract, who sells the property, title documents and appraisal when conducting a
purchase. If the person who sells the property or the person who borrows is not the same as the
owner on record, the loan needs to be reinvestigated to ensure the legitimacy of the transaction.
Identify theft is generally used when dealing with impersonal real estate agent, loan officers and
appraisers (Freddie Mac, 2012).
There are numerous types of fraud, such as builder bailout schemes, condominium conversion
bailout schemes, property flips and multi lien frauds. The builder bailout scheme occurs when the
sales speed in the market is slowing down while the builders and developers want to transfer
property quickly. Condominium conversion bailout schemes occur when the builders and
developers want to transfer units quickly and there is a depression on the real estate market.
Property flips happen when certain properties have changed ownership numerous times in a short
period of time. It becomes illegal when a property is purchased and resold frequently at an
artificially inflated value. Multi lien fraud occurs when multiple loans for the same house are
secured

The Conquest Of Hawaii Essay
Before reading this article it never occurred to me that Hawaii wasn t always a part of the United
States. Hawaii was always just one of those locations I knew existed, but seemed a lot like a
fantasy. After reading this document, my eyes were opened to how this land was stripped away
from the natives that once called it home. This theft of land all began when Captain James Cook
first arrived on the island on January 19, 1778. Cook first arrived in the Hawaiian Islands on 19
January 1778. He as in command of two ships the Resolution and the Discovery ( The Conquest of

American History Retells World War II
American history retells World War II (WWII) stories about heroes, and their contribution to the
success in ending the conflict between Japan and the United States (U.S.). The U.S. Military s
attempt to seize key islands in the South Pacific seem futile as Japanese Imperial Intelligence Teams
(JIIT) monitored U.S. communications systems. Messages intercepted by the JITT compromised
U.S. Military synchronization activities, putting their efforts and the lives of American Soldier s at
risk. The Navajo Code Talkerprogram is the U.S. Marine Corps solution to secure communications.
World War I (WWI) introduced the concept of securing lines of communication with a foreign
language not used by both sides during the war. Innovative combat Commanders utilized Native
Americans and their language within their ranks to send secure message. These Native
transmissions had flaws. The messages transmitted in the native language did not have a coded
format. Military terms for rank, weapons, and vehicles also did not exist in the Native vocabulary.
At the conclusion of WWI, the Germans identified the Native American tribes by their language
used during the war, exploiting and deterring any further similar attempts to secure messages. The
U.S. Military ceased further improvements into the augmentation of native languages and radio
communication.

Analysis Of Contractarianism And Animal Rights Essay
Mark Rowlands in his article Contractarianism and Animal Rights focuses on John Rawl s social
contract argument. Rowlands writes that Rawls liberal egalitarian version of contractarianism is
more than capable of assigning a direct moral status to non human animals. This essay will set out
Rowlands views with reference to philosophers and academics writing about the rights of non
human animals. Contractarianism is generally thought a theory that alleges only individuals who
can understand and choose to take part in an agreement or social contractcan have moral rights
(Rowlands, 1997). As Tom Regan points out animals, since they cannot understand contracts,
obviously cannot sign; and since they cannot sign, they have no rights (Regan, 2009, p.843).
In, what Rowlands calls, the conceptual heart of Rawls contractarianism, is his idea of an original
position and a veil of ignorance . Rawls describes the original position as the appropriate initial
status quo which ensures that the fundamental agreements reached in it are fair (Rawls, 1973, p.17)
A person finds themselves in the original position under a veil of ignorance deprived of certain
facts about themselves, for example, their conception of good and their socio economic position in
society. All occupants of the original position are conceived of as rational . Rowlands doesn t insist
that all non human animals are classified as rational agents, but rather that there is nothing in

A common way to cope with bipolar disorder is through the use of alcohol. While some people

Bipolar Disorder is a disorder when a person who suffers from it can have moments of depressive

Serotonin is the reason for the mania in bipolar disorder whereas the other two chemicals is
what creates depression and bipolar disorder. There are different ways to cope with bipolar
disorder and the feelings that one feels when going through episodes. There are many ways to
cope with bipolar disorder, some more effective than others. Ways that people with bipolar
disorder cope are through psychotherapy, medications, substance abuse, electric shock therapy
and more methods that are not mentioned above. Psychotherapy is a way of coping through
talking with a counselor; this is able to help because the patient is able to talk about what is
bothering them and the way that one is feeling at the time. However, bipolar disorder needs more
then psychotherapy since it is a chemical imbalance. Bipolar disorder can be helped with
medications that can help fix the imbalance. Pharmacotherapy is still the essential treatment for
the acute mania in bipolar disorder. The only drugs that were approved by the FDA were lithium

My Reflection Of The History Of Portland
Throughout this course, the history of Portland was discussed and I found it extremely
interesting. In my high school I took only one class on history our side of my state and it was the
simple world history and we never covered the histories of other states within the United States.
With in the Hawaiian culture, our history is so important and we study it constantly because we
feel that it is information that is crucial to knowing who you are and where you come from. So
when I came to Portland and I learned that this state has a history too it surprised me a little
because I realized how much we as highschool students were sheltered from the rest of the world
and their histories. Though learningthe history of Portland and how it became the beautiful city
that it is today really was exciting. Learning about all of the events and obstacles a city faces to
create such a diverse environment like this is truly humbling and made me appreciate the journey
so much more.
I was really impacted by the bi weekly reading responses. These responses when you are doing
them seem to be nothing and almost information that is cool to read but doesn t really apply to
what you are learning in the class, but as you start to do the bigger assignments I found my self
referencing and pulling knowledge that I learned from the responses all the time. The responses
also really encouraged a lot of different ideas and perspectives to be pushed out into the class
discussions and they really made me

Harvey Milk And Its Impact On The Gay Community
A man by the name of Harvey Milk has left a mark on those in support of and the community of
lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) worldwide. Harvey Milk served as the first
openly gay individual to be elected into public office. Harvey Milk left a positive impact on the
gay community and the Castro district of San Francisco through his contributions in politics and
stance as an openly gay man. He can also be attributed to being the most influential gay individual
to hold political office in United States history.
Harvey Milk was born in Woodmere, New York to a Jewish family. He played football and
enjoyed opera in high school, however he hid his love for opera from his friends (Shilts 1982:

everyone else. He attended the New York State College for Teachers in Albany where he majored
in Mathematics and minored in History. Upon graduation, Milk entered the United States Navy
serving during the Korean War. He served the nation for four years and was then discharged from
the Navy as a junior grade lieutenant for suspicion of homosexuality.
Homosexuality was looked down upon in this time period. A person could be arrested, even on
suspicion of homosexual status. A homosexual risked a police raid by going to a gay bar during
the 1950s. The fear and anxiety of being raided by the police, pushed many into nearby parks and

Islamic Law And Islamic Politics
The role of Islamic law in the modern secular state is central to any discussion of Islam and
politics and is as crucial today as ever. In his article Islamic Constitutionalism, Said Amir
Arjomand describes three models Muslim societies have taken in attempting to address Islam to
secular forms. One approach, taken by Saudi Arabia and Iran, seeks to implement [t]he vision of
the Islamic ideological state whose primary function was the execution of Divine Law. (Arjomand:
123). The second approach attempts to bridge Islamand secular modernism by turning the shari a
into a theoretical limitation on government and legislation, as in Egypt, Iraq, and Jordan, which
hold the shari a up as the source of all law but not in any practical sense above the state and its
secular forms. (Arjomand: 136). The third variant disowns the myth of the Islamic state and accepts
democracy and the legal modernization of the mid twentieth century, thereby making the principles
of the shari a not the source of all constitutional and ordinary legislation but one constitutional
principle that should act as a limitation to government and legislation . . . alongside other
constitutional principles. (Arjomand: 136 137).
In this short paper, I propose to engage with the work of an Islamic legal thinker of the early
twentieth century, Ahmad Safwat, who endeavored to suggest a model for situating traditional
Islamic law within the framework of a modern secular state. My aim in this paper

The New Industrial Revolution And The Digital Age
Unfortunately, the rash of external mandates such as transitioning to the Common Core,
delivery of PARCC testing and implementation of HIB legislation has overshadowed what an
exciting time it is to be in education. The Digital Age has ushered in an ever expanding digital
infrastructure where access and the ability to connect is becoming ubiquitous. Furthermore, the
democratization of the web offers individuals opportunity to not only act as critical consumers

Robert Frost Ambiguity
The Ambiguity on Robert Frost s The road not chosen
The road not chosen is a beautiful poem written by Robert Frost, which raises the metaphor of life
as a journey in which alternatives force us to choose which path to follow. When we come to a
fork, a crucial point of the journey, we must make a decision. We know that the future will depend
on that choice. We can choose the most traveled road, the one that most people would choose (by
habit or comfort) and therefore , will be easier since the path is marked, or venture down the road
less traveled and build our own path, make our way before the difficulties, face obstacles and
unforeseen events.
The poet walks in the forest, has the option to choose between two roads that fork in a path of a
yellow forest. The poet chooses the least traveled, but thinks about the possibilities that would have
implied having taken the other path, the unelected one. He is aware of the difference, that this
choice and this non choice will be perpetuated in the causal chain of his life. Live this feeling as a
slight feeling of loss, rather than as a full anguish that would be the certainty of its unfathomable
finitude. The poet concludes that he would have taken any path, since they ... Show more content on

A misleading immediate context can give false sense to the GenMe, while a positive immediate
context can give solutions to problems. When saying immediate context , Gladwell claims it as
Specific and relatively small elements in the environment (162). These small elements, or
signals, are serving as tipping points, which shows that changes are always possible if we can
simply change the immediate context. That is, we should always notice the both sides of
immediate context. For example, when the crime rate was extremely high in the New York,
David Gunn realized that graffiti in the subway system is one of the small elements that send

most of the GenMe misunderstand the meaning of high self esteem because they received wrong
signals from the immediate context. Twenge lists some examples of the educational immediate

has been killed by his power thirsty uncle who has now taken over the throne. Hamlet struggles with
the idea of revenge throughout the entire play, knowing he must kill his uncle to avenge his father,
while simultaneously failing to take action with every opportunity that presents itself. Throughout

Raiders Of The Lost Ark Film Analysis Essay
Raiders of the Lost Ark The film Raiders of the Lost Ark was directed by Steven Spielberg in 1981.
It is the first film in a series of films that follow the adventures of archaeologist and professor
Indiana Jones. Some proclaim the Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of the best action/adventure
movies of all time. Since its release, the film has grossed $389 million worldwide and is ranked #40
on the top rated movies list on IMDB.
Mise en Scene:
Raiders of the lost Ark takes place in 1936. When comes down to the settings, lighting, music,
costumes and the way everyone acts in this film, everything works together to get an overall feel
that the time really is the 1936. The costumes look like outfits people would really wear during that
time and the music sounds right for that era.
In the very beginning of the film, viewers see Indiana Jones walking through the jungle with some
men. Although his face is not shown for the first couple of minutes you can tell that the man in
the fedora is an important character. It s never specifically mentioned that it is a jungle but there
are animal noises and plants in the background. Also, the lighting looks natural almost as if the
sun is shining through a thick canopy of trees. All the men look a little tired and their faces and
clothes look dirty. From the way the music sounds and the way they all look you can tell that they
are on some kind of quest, searching for something for what seems like a while.

Characteristics And Characteristics Of The Mineral Lazurite
There are a myriad of minerals, gemstones, and rocks throughout the world with each having select
features and characteristics that differentiate one another. When selecting a mineral to conduct a
research report on, one could be drawn to Lazurite for a multitude of factors whether it be the
aesthetically pleasing appearance or the various ways it has been incorporated throughout history.
Therefore, one can define such a magnificent mineralby characteristics and historical application
for which humans have tended to gravitate towards. First and foremost, the mineral Lazurite has
many scientifically definable features. For example, in terms of hardness on the Mohs scale,
Lazurite falls within the range of 5 5.5 which is about the halfway point between the weakest
minerals and the strongest. As for another feature of Lazurite, the color usually falls in an array of
blues from light to dark and sometimes green or even violet. When Lazurite is ground into a
powder formally known as a streak, it brings forth the true color of the mineral and blueseems to be
the case. When referring to the luster, one can define three different characteristics such as a
vitreous, greasy, and waxy appearance. The luster is an illumination of the reflected light upon
the surface space of the mineral. Therefore in terms of luster, it would be classified as a
nonmetallic due to vitreous (glassy) or greasy appearance. According to the article Guide to
Minerals, Rocks, and Fossils, Lapis Lazuli is

Case Study Of Dollar General
DOLLAR GENERAL Dollar General has become the go to place when in need of small items and
groceries without having to enter a supermarket. Dollar General, like most other companies send
their stores inventory each week to replenish supply. But unlike some of those other companies
after working for Dollar General I realized that the way they handled stock supply and inventory
shipment wasn t very efficient compared to some of those other companies using inventory
technologies.
PROBELEM
I feel as if that Dollar General has the right idea by keeping their stores well stocked with supplies
but if customers can t even get around to shop the items due to those items blocking aisle then the
purpose of the entire supply is pointless. After doing some research I discovered what I think is
actually occurring at Dollar General stores when it comes to shipment of inventory. The line chart
below provided by ScienceDirect (Quansheng, 2015), shows how inventory replenishment
effectiveness rates impact retailer s cost. I think that Dollar General is experiencing a destroyed
rate, as shown on the chart as the top line. Which is leading them to suffer a large impact on their
internal costs. They have flooded their stores with inventory and continue to each week when stacks

Not once did I use any type of handheld device and scan inventory before or while putting it away.
They should incorporate a whole inventory system at each store using RFID tags, barcodes, and

containers. ScienceDirect states (Quansheng, 2015), RFID technologies provide a real time
communication with numerous objects, reported after using RFID tags, Procter Gamble and Wal
Mart reduced inventory levels by 70%, and improved service levels from 96% to

Osmosis Lab Report
First you must define what diffusion is, diffusion is when molecules in a solute spread from high
concentrated areas into lower concentrated areas, without outside forces acting upon it. Diffusion is
affected by molecular kinetic energy, diffusion can also occur in all three states of matter. Now you
must define osmosis, osmosis is similar to diffusionbut is when water molecules pass through a
semi permeable from the less concentrated solution to the more concentrated solution. In cells
osmosis is not only affected by the concentrationof the solute but also by the resistance of the water
movement. The words hypertonic, hypotonic, and isotonic are used to describe the different
concentrations in these membranes. .A hypertonic solution has... Show more content on

You then take the final mass minus the original divided by the original mass and get the percent
of the mass change. You can then conclude that when the egg is in a hypertonic solution such as
corn syrup, water will leave the cell. You should even be able to see a layer of water laying on
top of the corn syrup to back up your conclusion. One drawl back to this lab is you can break the
egg if you are not careful with it after you take the hard shell off. If it is dropped there is a great
possibility that it will break due to the force of the fall. Also if you didn t want to have uneven
results or have a wide margin of error you would have to make sure that the water, vinegar, and
corn syrup are all the same amounts. You would also want to make sure the eggs are the same
size and same brand. You would also want to make sure the cups you use are uniform, that they
are the same size and same width. The same scale must also be used to weigh the eggs. Also you
would need to make sure that each of the eggs are kept at the same temperature. If you don t do
these things then you could end up with inconclusive results, this is because if you use to many
different things you will have to many variables to keep track of which will get confusing and

Cultural Diversity And Team Performance Essay
The journal paper Cultural diversity and team performance: The role of team member goal
orientation by (Pieterse, Van Knippenberg Van Dierendonck,2013) is to investigate the members
goal orientation in the relationship between performance and cultural diversity. The contribution of
Pieterse, Van Knippenberg Van Dierendonck (2013) is that they have developed and test the theory
under the CEM model on how achievement setting stimulates the teammember goal orientations that
affect performance relationship. Pieterse, Van Knippenberg Van Dierendonck (2013) also stated
that pervious researchers have recognized the performance benefit of diversity could have stronger
creative, problem solving and decision making on more complex task but they missed one
perspective, which is not only the relatively objective task feature may have a role, but also the
motivational orientations that are cause by a given achievement.
Aim of research:
This research is rooted firmly on the categorisation elaboration model. The study can see as the test
of the propositions advanced in the model and can dee as a further development. Therefore, it is the
further step of developing an integrative theory of the team diversity affected by the performance.
Research paradigm and findings:
The paradigm of this research is that there is just single reality or truth because this research is
trying to find out if there is something related or not by building hypothesis, and there is a big

Worldview Of A Christian Essay
Worldview of a Christian
What does the world look like through the lens of a Christian? The answers to this question can be
found directly from the Bible. There are many parts to the Christian Worldview, but the seven main
parts are; what God is like, the nature of the universe, the nature of man, ethics and morality, the
cause of evil and suffering, what happens to man after death, and the meaning of history. The
Biblical Worldview of a Christian is important because it helps us develop our faith in God and
become closer to him. Everyone should have the Biblical Worldview of a Christian.
What is God Like?
God has every excellent attribute. He is infinite, meaning that He never had a beginning nor will he
have an end. This is something ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He wanted man to be a free moral agent; having the choice between right and wrong. Man chose
wrong, which caused pain, suffering, and death entered the world as a result. God has power to
stop evil, but it is because of His everlasting patience and grace towards us that He allows our sins
to continue. God did not want to end sin yet, because He did not want to lose anyone. A 2 Peter
3:9 puts it, The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is
patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
What happens to man at death?
What happens to believers and unbelievers at death is very different. For believers, death is not a
punishment. After a Christian dies, the soul of that person goes into God s presence, where they
wait until Jesus second coming to go to heaven. In Heaven, there is no suffering, death, and grief.
In heaven, the believers worship and praise God forever, and also partake in meaningful work.
After an unbeliever dies, their soul goes to hell. When Jesus returns, they experience the second
death, which is eternal torment. Hell is a place of fire and burning, where unbelievers go through
weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Uloric Case Study Summary
Uloric (Febuxostat) is a xanthine oxidase inhibitor used to control hyperuricemia in patients with
gout. Xanthine oxidase inhibitors inhibit the activity of xanthine oxidase, an enzyme involved in
the metabolism of purines. This medication should not be used for the treatment of asymptomatic
hyperuricemia. Uloric was first FDA approved on February 13th, 2009 for chronic management
of hyperuricemia. Given that this medication is fairly new to the market, it is more expensive
then the other prescription medication in the same pharmaceutical categories, allopurinol. Uloric
comes in two strengths, 40 mg, and 100 mg tablets. Bothe the 40 mg and the 80 mg tablets costs
$310.39 for a 30 day supply (quantity of 30). Allopurinol also comes in 2 strengths, 100 mg, and
300 mg tablets. The cost of 100 allopurinol 100 mg tablets is $37.69 and $76.14 for... Show more

Studies have shown that 80 mg of Uloric was able to get 30% more patients than 300 mg of
allopurinol to a healthy uric acid level ( 6 mg/dL). Even though in the study Uloric seems to be
more effective in managing hyperuricemia, I believe that this is not a fair comparison because 300
mg daily of allopurinol is only given in patients with mild gout. When comparing 40 mg Uloric
with 300 mg allopurinol, the number of patients who reached a healthy uric acid level was
equal. It is shown that patients with mild to moderate kidney problems do not have to take a
lower dose which seems like a major advantage for using Uloric, but in the study only a small
number of patients with severe kidney problems were studied. Patients with kidney problems have
to take a lower dose of allopurinol; the dose of allopurinol is only decreased in patients with a
creatinine clearance (CrCl) of less than 20 mL/minute, which to me seems that the patient is

1.1 Background
Macmillan English Dictionary defines recycling as the process of treating waste materials such as
newspaper and bottles so that they can be used again . Beside paper and bottles there have lots of
recyclable items such as aluminum cans, scrap metals, plastic and printer cartridges. Recycling
saves energy and reduces pollution and would help slow down global climate change.
The history of recycling is started nearly 4000 years ago, there was a recovery and reuse system of
bronze scrap in operation in Europe and there is evidence that composting was carried out in China.
In 1898, The Association of Cleansing Superintendents is established, which today has evolved into

2003, p.306). Solid domestic waste is one of the major environmental problems faced by most
municipalities in the country particularly in urban areas. The generation rate of waste is 1.0kg
/day per person and 80 percent of the 230 landfills in the country have only two years of lifespan
left. Despite rigorous campaigns of recycling, the attainment of recycling rate has increased from
1 2 percent in 1997 to merely 5 percent in 2001 (Aini et al. 2002, cited in Said et al. 2003, p.306).
Studies have shown that the most significant factor affecting nature is not the official government
policy but public awareness (Chukwuma 1998, cited in Said et al. 2003, p.306) or public concern
for environment and the readiness to bear the cost of minimizing the adverse impacts of their
activities (Ramsey and Rickson 1976, cited in Said et al. 2003, p.306).

Accordingly, various policies and strategies are currently developed and implemented by the

environmental problems are related to human activities, consumption and production patterns, many
of which are unaffected by environmental policies. Studies by various scholars have demonstrated
that the quality of the environment depends

pitcher or 2 liter bottle. Stir or shake the solution until it is dissolved. This will produce a 1% salt

7. Tape the strip to a pencil and rest the pencil on top of the jar so that the strip hangs into the jar.
The goal is to have the end of the chromatography strip just touching the surface of the solvent

not come in direct contact with the liquid in the bottom of the glass.

Dog Heart Colonialism
In Dog Heart by Diana McCaulay, aspects of colonialism are apparent throughout the book; even
though Jamaica is an independent nation and is no longer under British Colonial rule, colonialism
has embedded itself deep within the framework of the country, politically and culturally. The most
notable act of colonialismin Dog Heart was the policing of language; the assimilation of the
Jamaican people to Standard English and the condemnation of speaking Patois. By writing Dexter s
point of view in Dog Heart in Jamaican Patois, McCaulay challenges the misconception, created by
colonialism, of Jamaican patois being the language of the undesirable.

McCaulay shows us through Dexter s point of view, which is all in Patois, that people s view
him isn t necessarily reflective of who he is as a person, and the stereotypes held by Jamaicans
about certain aspects of Jamaican society, like patois equating to incompetency, are just a
product of colonialism; this understanding wouldn t be available to us if we only had Sahara s
point of view. Caribbean literature can help, and I believe is helping, strengthen cultural
competency, while also improving how Caribbean s view themselves and their history, and serves
as a force of resistance to the colonial standards that fixed itself into Caribbean society. Slowly, this
newfound self awareness and cultural pride that comes from knowing and accepting Caribbean
roots can lead to building stronger Caribbean identity where languages such as Jamaican Patois can
be appreciated and be considered a standard language

A Streetcar Named Desire Analysis
Avila, Bryan
Lang and Lit Year 2

Written Task 2
Title of the text for analysis: A Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams. 2004.
Part of the course to which the task refers: Part 4 Literature, a Critical Study
Prescribed Question: How and why is a social group represented in a particular way?
My critical response will:
в—ЏShow how the males are portrayed in the text
в—ЏShow how Stanley is the alpha male and what his role is
в—ЏShow how Mitch is the omega male and what his role is
In A Streetcar Named Desire, men are the social groups represented with these roles alpha, beta,
omega. Males are portrayed as a big part in Tennessee s book, which shows the respect and rights
they hold. The men are shown this way to give off their looks and personality. The way things are
set up in the book shows the understanding of each male characters and where they stand.
The top dog Stanley is the alpha, Pablo and Steve are betas and Mitch is the omega. For
example,in the book the author writes, Stanley doesn t give me a regular allowance; he likes to
pay bills himself. (pg 78) . Making it seemed as if Stanley is the man and has it all under control .
The author wants the audience to know that Stanley has the money so he is the one in charge and
what he want has to be done, and done his way. But on the other hand the author introduces Mitch
as a very soft, awkward man that is a mamas boy .The book quotes, Hurry back and we ll fix you
a sugar tit. (pg 48). The quote refers that Mitch is as a man who can t do anything on his own
and he still is a baby and lives off his mom and has her do things for him. Tennessee used
different reference to show how the men are described in, A Streetcar Named Desire. Alphas are
always the first or leaders in the group. While betas back the alphas up and got their backs. And
last are omegas they are the loser. Betas are more anti and careless of what others care, they don t
care what others think. Steve and Pablo are kind and they try to not interfere in much of what goes
on which are characteristics of a beta. Stanley is forced, pinioned by the two men, into the
bedroom. (pg 63).
In A Streetcar Named Desire, Stanley is to be seen and known as to the most dominant

Hurricane Mitigation Research Paper
Miami, Florida is located in an area that is exposed to a lot of natural hazards. Hurricanes and
flooding are two of the most prominent natural disasters that this area experiences. Due to the fact
that these natural disasters occur so frequently, mitigation plans have been implemented to decrease
the potential damage. In order to efficiently detect oncoming disasters, weatherradars have been
utilized to track high precipitation that may lead to floods. In addition, hurricane experts study the
past hurricanes that passed through to get a better understanding of when a hurricane may strike.
Other strategies to track future hurricanes include monitoring hurricane patterns from space.
Currently, in Miami, Florida, many mitigation strategies have been introduced to lessen the damage
from hurricanes. The most common ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In result, mitigation strategies have been created to reduce the impact floods have on the entire
community. The Tamiami Canal has been implemented to reduce the damage floods hold. This is a
barrier that pushes storm water out against the ocean, resulting in less water piling up on land.
To educated the public, the city of Miami has distributed hurricane prepare manuals. These manuals
entail information on the proper evacuation routes one should take based on their location. Also,
this information informs the reader of the steps needed to prepare a house before evacuation.
Though there are numerous mitigation strategies implemented already by the city of Miami, I
personally believe that there is room for improvement. The suggestion I have created involves the
the education of the citizens in Miami. I suggest that new citizens of Miami are required to attend a
short seminar on hurricane evacuation. Though this plan seems extreme and inconvenient, I believe
that evacuation strategies are the most important, because the process of evacuation is the least
efficient, and causes the most

  • 6. Brief Summary Of Survival In Auschwitz By Primo Levi In Survival in Auschwitz, Primo Levi depicts a life where, under the severe conditions of hunger, cold, illness, and constant fear, men are transformed into beasts, and where justice and morality become insignificant in the fight for survival. Upon entering Auschwitz, families are separated and immediately hundreds are sent to their deaths. Tattooed and given their new identity of serial numbers, many forget their own past and their names. Initially, Levi accepts his imminent death as everyone emphasizes that the only exit from Auschwitz is by way of the chimney. But for the next year, Levi learns to live pragmatically and efficiently under the Nazis continuous brutality. In doing so, he discovers two very different reactions from living in Auschwitz: those that are saved and those that are drowned. The drowned rarely exist in normal society, but in Auschwitz, they are everywhere. For many, the constant cruelty dehumanizes them to the level of animals, where men accept their fate and work themselves to certain death. Conversely, a few manage to push back and use their strength, intelligence, and patience to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Friendships were based on pragmatism and selfish interest. Faced with utter solitude, many prisoners would lose all motivation for survival. Out of the thousands that entered Auschwitz weekly, only a few hundred would survive. These usually included the most valuable of prisoners, such as doctors, tailors, and shoemakers. Levi and many other camp veterans understood this and reacted to make themselves appear useful and not to drown in their detestable conditions. In doing so, the saved depended on the underground art of economizing on everything, on breath, movements, even thoughts. In the process, Levi witnesses how this strategy often leads the saved to social savagery and how the struggle for life is reduced to its primordial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Analysis Of The Book Four Kinds Of Chance By James H.... The Chance to have good or bad Luck. There are times in life that we attribute good luck to our hard work, dedication or talent but there are some other times when we can say that luck is just a chance that we get. As we can see on the work of this two authors James H. Austin the author of Four kinds of chancepublished in Saturday Review and Robert H. Frank author of why luckmatters much more than you think published in The Atlantic (May 2016) they show the reader how chances can influence in different ways. After reading their work I consider Robert H Frank article more effectively fulfills his thesis. Austin article was more dedicated to the general public, students, adults, people who not necessarily needs to have education. In his article he uses a vocabulary that most of the people could understand also he gave us definitions in some of the words like for instance the phrase like a mirage (p.11) he explained with a lot of details what mirage was, by doing this we as a reader can have more knowledge of why he is using that word as an example. He informed us since the begging that he was going to talk about four varieties of chance and the best way to start with the definition of chance. As we continue reading he guides us by referring to the chances as Chance I, Chance II, Chance III and concluding with Chance IV where we realize that he express more and have a detail example on how chance IV works. If we move to the examples we can perceive that he is showing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A fandom is a community of fans, participating in fanac and interacting in some way, whether through discussions or creative works. Some people feel that those in the same fandom as them are like family. We talk to each other, try to make each other happy, support one another, and give advice and suggestions. Before you continue, I highly suggest not looking up any animes, shows, or web comics that I may mention, no matter how awesome I say they are, unless you are okay with staying up until one in the morning because you wanted to know what happens next. Also, you might end up spending a lot of money if you want to cosplayas a character. Auspisticism is probably the furthest from anything humans actually do. Basically, an auspistice mediates between two normal enemies (as opposed to kismeses), in order to prevent it from becoming too violent. Non-Traditional Women In Chaucer s Canterbury Tales Non Traditional Women in Medieval Marriages In Chaucer s Canterbury Tales there are sections that are purely based on marriage, and in these stories a couple of the women are portrayed as being non traditional wives in their marriages. A marriage in medieval England is not like what marriage is today. The wives in both The Wifeof Bath s Tale and The Merchant s Tale are what today s society would expect from a woman or wife. A non traditional wife is someone who wants authority, is outspoken, and sexually active prior to marriage or during marriage; Chaucer s wives do not portray all of these traits. Authors influenced me to wantto become an author myself. After reading a wide range of books by varying writers like Ned Vizzini, J.D Salinger, Natalie Babbit, Mitch Albom, and as I said earlier, John Green, I am determined to leave that evangelical zeal that you get from books, and only books, on my readers the way many books have done to me before. Knowledge is a key aspect when creating the goals that you will pursue because it is extremely beneficial to know which universities you are bound to attend. • 15. Human Nature In Lord Of The Flies Mark Twain once said, Everyone is a moon, and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody . What the 19th century American writer said perfectly captures the state of human nature: there is a bad aspect for every good one. Sometimes, however, the dark side outshines the light of the moon. Nowhere is this more apparent than in William Goldings timeless classic, The Lord of the Flies (1954), where a group of boys are stranded on a deserted island in the absence of adults and must set up society in order to be rescued. As the novelcontinues, the boys progressively abandon society and seek evil deeds, led by the antagonist, Jack. With a lack of society, humans revert to a more primitive and evil nature. The descent in human nature in the boys can be identified from the very beginning. After the boys have found each other on the beach, Ralph decides to take Jack and Simon on a expedition to find out where they are. However, Piggy wants to join them, but Ralph has other plans. You can t come. Piggy s glasses were misted again this time with humiliation (25). Even from the beginning of the novel, the boys evil intentions are clear. Ralph, being the leader, shows the boys that excluding and picking on others is okay, which escalates as the novel progresses. While Ralph s actions can be viewed as childish and simply the result of his upbringing, his immediate willingness to satisfy his pleasure at the expense of Piggy s shows that the boys are willing to commit bad ... Secondly, Kurtz is on a mission to procure ivory and to impose society onto a region of darkness. In his report to his superiors, he scrawls across the bottom, Exterminate all the brutes! Contractarianism is generally thought a theory that alleges only individuals who can understand and choose to take part in an agreement or social contractcan have moral rights (Rowlands, 1997). Rawls describes the original position as the appropriate initial status quo which ensures that the fundamental agreements reached in it are fair (Rawls, 1973, p.17) A person finds themselves in the original position under a veil of ignorance deprived of certain facts about themselves, for example, their conception of good and their socio economic position in society. • 31. Islamic Law And Islamic Politics The role of Islamic law in the modern secular state is central to any discussion of Islam and politics and is as crucial today as ever. In his article Islamic Constitutionalism, Said Amir Arjomand describes three models Muslim societies have taken in attempting to address Islam to secular forms. One approach, taken by Saudi Arabia and Iran, seeks to implement [t]he vision of the Islamic ideological state whose primary function was the execution of Divine Law. (Arjomand: 123). The second approach attempts to bridge Islamand secular modernism by turning the shari a into a theoretical limitation on government and legislation, as in Egypt, Iraq, and Jordan, which hold the shari a up as the source of all law but not in any practical sense above the state and its secular forms. (Arjomand: 136). The third variant disowns the myth of the Islamic state and accepts democracy and the legal modernization of the mid twentieth century, thereby making the principles of the shari a not the source of all constitutional and ordinary legislation but one constitutional principle that should act as a limitation to government and legislation . . . alongside other constitutional principles. (Arjomand: 136 137). We can choose the most traveled road, the one that most people would choose (by habit or comfort) and therefore , will be easier since the path is marked, or venture down the road less traveled and build our own path, make our way before the difficulties, face obstacles and unforeseen events. The poet walks in the forest, has the option to choose between two roads that fork in a path of a yellow forest. The poet chooses the least traveled, but thinks about the possibilities that would have implied having taken the other path, the unelected one. He is aware of the difference, that this choice and this non choice will be perpetuated in the causal chain of his life. Live this feeling as a slight feeling of loss, rather than as a full anguish that would be the certainty of its unfathomable finitude. The poet concludes that he would have taken any path, since they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A misleading immediate context can give false sense to the GenMe, while a positive immediate context can give solutions to problems. When saying immediate context , Gladwell claims it as Specific and relatively small elements in the environment (162). These small elements, or signals, are serving as tipping points, which shows that changes are always possible if we can simply change the immediate context. That is, we should always notice the both sides of immediate context. For example, when the crime rate was extremely high in the New York, David Gunn realized that graffiti in the subway system is one of the small elements that send disorders to the public. On the one side, The graffiti was symbolic of the collapse of the system (Gladwell 152). On another side, the graffiti also gives a solution to the crime problem that if we clean up the graffiti, signals of disorders will be changes immediately into good orders. Similarly, most of the GenMe misunderstand the meaning of high self esteem because they received wrong signals from the immediate context. Twenge lists some examples of the educational immediate context by saying that, In the United States, office stores have started carrying large stocks of purple pens, as some teachers say that red ink is too scary for children s papers (499). Juxtaposition In Hamlet s Soliloquy William Shakespeare s Hamlet concerns a young boy, Hamlet, who s father, the king of Denmark, has been killed by his power thirsty uncle who has now taken over the throne. When selecting a mineral to conduct a research report on, one could be drawn to Lazurite for a multitude of factors whether it be the aesthetically pleasing appearance or the various ways it has been incorporated throughout history. Therefore, one can define such a magnificent mineralby characteristics and historical application for which humans have tended to gravitate towards. First and foremost, the mineral Lazurite has many scientifically definable features. For example, in terms of hardness on the Mohs scale, Lazurite falls within the range of 5 5.5 which is about the halfway point between the weakest minerals and the strongest. As for another feature of Lazurite, the color usually falls in an array of blues from light to dark and sometimes green or even violet. When Lazurite is ground into a powder formally known as a streak, it brings forth the true color of the mineral and blueseems to be the case. The luster is an illumination of the reflected light upon the surface space of the mineral. • 54. A Streetcar Named Desire Analysis Avila, Bryan Lang and Lit Year 2 11/11/17 Written Task 2 Title of the text for analysis: A Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams. 2004. Part of the course to which the task refers: Part 4 Literature, a Critical Study Prescribed Question: How and why is a social group represented in a particular way? My critical response will: в—ЏShow how the males are portrayed in the text в—ЏShow how Stanley is the alpha male and what his role is в—ЏShow how Mitch is the omega male and what his role is In A Streetcar Named Desire, men are the social groups represented with these roles alpha, beta, omega. Males are portrayed as a big part in Tennessee s book, which shows the respect and rights they hold. The men are shown this way to give off their looks and personality. The way things are set up in the book shows the understanding of each male characters and where they stand. The top dog Stanley is the alpha, Pablo and Steve are betas and Mitch is the omega. For example,in the book the author writes, Stanley doesn t give me a regular allowance; he likes to pay bills himself. (pg 78) . Making it seemed as if Stanley is the man and has it all under control . The author wants the audience to know that Stanley has the money so he is the one in charge and what he want has to be done, and done his way. But on the other hand the author introduces Mitch as a very soft, awkward man that is a mamas boy .The book quotes, Hurry back and we ll fix you a sugar tit. (pg 48). The quote refers that Mitch is as a man who can t do anything on his own and he still is a baby and lives off his mom and has her do things for him. Tennessee used different reference to show how the men are described in, A Streetcar Named Desire. Alphas are always the first or leaders in the group. While betas back the alphas up and got their backs. And last are omegas they are the loser. Betas are more anti and careless of what others care, they don t care what others think. Steve and Pablo are kind and they try to not interfere in much of what goes on which are characteristics of a beta. Stanley is forced, pinioned by the two men, into the bedroom. (pg 63). This is a barrier that pushes storm water out against the ocean, resulting in less water piling up on land. To educated the public, the city of Miami has distributed hurricane prepare manuals. These manuals entail information on the proper evacuation routes one should take based on their location. Also, this information informs the reader of the steps needed to prepare a house before evacuation. Though there are numerous mitigation strategies implemented already by the city of Miami, I personally believe that there is room for improvement. The suggestion I have created involves the the education of the citizens in Miami. I suggest that new citizens of Miami are required to attend a short seminar on hurricane evacuation. Though this plan seems extreme and inconvenient, I believe that evacuation strategies are the most important, because the process of evacuation is the least efficient, and causes the most ...
