Affordable Care Act Case Study
The fertility rate is an important factor when evaluating the health of the public. Despite the United
States having one of the best healthcare systems in the world, approximately 13% of women
between the age of 18 44 have trouble conceiving. Although the US has implemented the Patient
Protection and Affordable Care Act, a landmark policy, assisting millions of Americans in obtaining
health insurance, unless altered, the policy could hurt the 3 out of 20 women who struggle with
infertility. After evaluating the core essential benefits of the Affordable Care Act, the views of
stakeholders, and the state mandates, an easy solution can be established to assist those suffering
from impaired fecundity.

Some states cover In Vitro Fertilization and other medically aided insemination procedures, while
other states only cover pharmaceutical therapy. Some of the states who offer the use of advanced
reproductive technologies, places limits on lifetime attempts, similarly states who only offer drug
therapy limit the approved list of drugs. Infertility coverage varies from state to state, even in states
with a mandate.
The level of coverage tends to reflect the views of the individual state, and their constituents. States
who are highly influenced by the religious facets of society often put limits of the list of approved
interventions. In 2009 the Catholic Church stated The church has compassion for couples suffering
from infertility and want to be of real help to them. At the same time, some reproductive
technologies are not morally legitimate ways to solve those problems. Many other religious groups
have similar opinions, and advocate for a limitation in the approved procedures.
The religion argument does not really work I would take this out bc so far you have been

Industrial and Organizational Psychology
INTRODUCTION Effective Communication is significant for managers in the organizations so as
to perform the basic functions of management, i.e., Planning, Organizing, Leading and Controlling.
Communication helps managers to perform their jobs and responsibilities. Communication serves
as a foundation for planning. All the essential information must be communicated to the managers
who in turn must communicate the plans so as to implement them. Organizing also requires
effective communication with others about their job task. Similarly leaders as managers must
communicate effectively with their subordinates so as to achieve the team goals. Controlling is not
possible without written and oral communication. Managers devote a great part of... Show more

Any change in plans might be communicated with the employees in advance so that resistance may
not come from them. Communication helps the organization in this regard by supplying
information to the employee. CHARACTERISTICS OF COMMUNICATIONS: Segmented: Even
in small organizations, it is wrong to assume that all employees will have the same needs, interests
and desires when it comes to business communication. Effective business communication is
segmented to meet the needs of specific audiences. Employees working in an administrative setting,
for instance, will have different needs and different access to information than employees working
in a manufacturing environment. Specific: Generic business communication doesn t meet the
needs of anyone. Effective business communication is specific. The more specific communication
is, the more it meets the needs of its audience. Accurate: When information is inaccurate it loses its
credibility. The sender of the information also loses credibility. Effective business communication is
accurate in terms of the content conveyed and in terms of simple things that include grammar,
spelling and punctuation. Timely: Employees need to know what is going on in their organizations
and in the external environment that impacts them. Today s technology driven environment makes
it more challenging than ever before for businesses to communicate with employees in a timely

The Contribution of the Supernatural to Richard III Essay
The Contribution of the Supernatural to Richard III
During the Renaissance period people were very superstitious and England on a whole was an
extremely religious country; people believed in both God and the Devil and Heaven and Hell.
They also believed in prophecies, supernatural and curses. A modern audience would have reacted
very differently to the play than a Shakespearean audience. The events contained within Richard III
must have seemed very real to a Shakespearean audience as it depicts the historical events of the
rise and fall of Richard III. For a Shakespearean audience these events happened only a century
earlier. To a modern audience it is viewed as what it is, a dramatisation of a... Show more content

Richard III is a play based upon the dramatisation of history.
The supernatural is an event that depends upon the superseding of the laws of nature, an event
which cannot occur naturally in our world under any circumstances with or without the assistance
of any natural being. Only God, or the Devil, has the power to cause supernatural events to occur.
Richard III deals with supernatural elements such as curses, devils, dreams and witchcraft. I
believe supernatural elements were included in Richard III to add a sense of dread that matches
the malice of Richard, to show that divine nemesis exists. Shakespeare created Richard as a
machiavellian who takes delight in governing through fear and force. He is a character of sheer
evil; however Shakespeare provides a contrast to Richard s villainy via the voices of the female
characters. Margaret and Anne contribute by predicting the dire consequences of Richard s acts;
they also express their intense hatred through curses.
The most common use of supernatural by Shakespeare within Richard III is curses. Curses are
magic spells placed upon people with the intention of harm. The desired affect of curses can range
from illness to death. Curses are commonly associated

The Importance Of Bilingual In Deaf Culture
My feeling was a bit surprised and complicated when I first hear that deaf parents want to
conceive a deaf baby. Because if I have not taken any classes about deaf culture or prior to
reading Candy and Sharon s story, I would normally think it is unfair to the children to be born
with disabilities, especially when the parents are already deaf who sure know the difficulties and
obstacles that a deaf child will have to experience in the future. What if the child grew up and
blamed the parents to make the decision for him depended on personal preferences and inflicting
hardship on him? Because even though the deaf community exists, the majority of the population is
living in the hearingworld. There is still some inconvenience for the deaf people today. However,
after I took CSD courses and read the article, I have changed my viewpoint about deafness. Now I

Deaf people are not limited by hearing loss and are able to achieve what the hearing people can
achieve. Some deaf people are proud of being deaf not from the medical perspective, but from
the linguistic perspective. Since ASL is capable of supporting the highest levels of abstract
mind to mind communication, it is considered to be a rich language. From the linguistic point,
the deaf people are viewed as bilingual in ASL and English. Unlike others, their first language is
ASL instead of English. There are so many deaf people out there that are teachers, writers,
lawyers, doctors, etc. Sharon and Candy, the deaf couples who want their children to be deaf in
the article A World of Their Own by Liza Mundy, all performed well academically and are
graduates from universities. They see how successful deaf people can be as well as the
capabilities of their deaf child. Parents always want to give the best to their children. If Candy and
Sharon searched around and worked so hard to get a deaf baby, I am sure that this is what they
think the best for that

Hmax Model Paper
Final Project: Research about HMAX model
Seok Hee Lee
Abstract In this paper, I investigated some of the models of computational neuroscience used in
the face recognition field. The model to be discussed is HMAX model. The paper contains what
HMAX model is, how it is derived in terms of biological background, and how it is being used for
facial recognition. Also, I simulated the simplified version of the model in MATLAB. The
simulation of the simplified version verified one cell in the highest hierarchy covers the entire
retinal space of the given image. INTRODUCTION First of all, I looked into the paper written
by Riesenhuber and how HMAX model is derived from a biological concept of a visual cortex. It
begins with the power of cells found in macaque inferotemporal cortex (IT). The cells in IT are
considered as essential cells for recognizing an object and IT is the highest area in the ventral
visual stream. They are tuned to views of complicated objects, for instance a face of human. Their
response remains almost the same when scale or position of an object changes, and it is one of
the characteristic of these cells. This raises a question: how can these cells distinguish similar
faces? In the other words, this paper talks what mechanism these cells use to respond differently
from the similar inputs. This question is related to the model proposed by Hubel and Wiesel. In
this model, simple cells with neighboring receptive fields feed into higher hierarchy cell and this

Digital camera market has enjoyed tremendous growth since it was introduced in the photographic
industry. Starting in 1998, price has been falling rapidly. In addition, the development of CMOS
allowed digital camera to not only capture professional market, but also enter consumer market. It
was estimated that in 2006 forecast would peak with 63% penetration rate for digital cameras in
the US. After 2006, the growth rate was expected to fall negative.
Product lives for digital cameras had been shortened. While an average life was between 17 and 22

Before, the concept of demand forecast was to serve the key functional groups in achieving their
own interest. Facing the new challenges, forecast needed to be more accurate. And therefore it
needed a new concept that is to have a consensus forecasting that would accurately reveal market
demand and align the needs of key actors in the forecasting process. Leitax implemented two
specific changes in forecasting process. The first one is to switch the focus from sell in to sell
through and second one is to ignore capacity constraints.
QUESTION 3
The mission of the Forecast Re Design Team was to reduce expenses and risks associated with
production and costs of procurement, inventory, quality control and technical infrastructure.
According to Fowler, there were four objectives: (1), to reduce inventory levels across the supply
chain; (2) to increase velocity and accuracy of planning information throughout the supply chain;
(3) to increase supply upside and downside flexibility; and (4) to improve on time performance to
customers.
The projects require individuals who have good technical skills and forecasting and industry
knowledge. But more importantly, it needs people who could help implement the new changes. To

Access control is used in determining whether or not to grant or deny access to these resources
or services to an employee, group of employees or to an entire department. There are four
commonly used types of access control methods; however for a smaller company without many
employees at this point in time Discretionary Access Control (DAC) would be good starting
point for ZXY Inc. Discretionary access control allows the owner of the service or resource to
determine who is granted and who is denied access to certain resources. The owner of each
resource and service will be given full authority on granting and denying permissions over what
they have ownership of. ZXY Inc. does need to make sure that it does not make just one
employee the owner of every resource and service. This is done in order to make sure that one
potential bad employee doesn t harm the entire company s information security network with
malicious acts. In regards to user accounts and passwords, a few steps should be taken in order to
safeguard company information and protect company data. Each individual employee should be
given a unique username that will be used as part of the employee s network log on. Each unique
username will then be used by the IT department and DAC owner s in order to grant and/or deny
permission s. By having unique user names for each employee, the owners

Gloria Steinem Analysis
The picture of Gloria Steinem and Dorothy Pitman show elements of women equality, solidarity and
unity. The picture shows two women with a serious look and making eye contact with the camera,
this shows alludes to a fight of women rights. In the picture both women are holding a fist in the air,
this signifies strength and solidarity. The third essential element highlighted is the filter of the
picture, the filter being black and white shows unity as human beings and every race. The picture
represents three main topics which are women rights, strength and unity
The first important detail of the Gloria Steinem picture is the one that stands out the most, the two
women. This iconic photograph is of both Gloria Steinem and Dorothy Pitman Hughes with their
fist in the air while staring into the camera. Gloria Steinem and Dorothy Pitman were both feminist
activist so seeing both in this photograph portrays them as standing up for women s rights and
equality. Around when Gloria began attempting to make an impact towards feminism was around
the 1960s. This was a time where women were not seen as equal to men or had as many
opportunities. There was an expectation of women that they were to be stay at home mothers and
take care of their children and husband as shown in this article about women barriers in the 60s A
woman was expected to follow one path: to marry in her early 20s, start a family quickly, and

does the law mean when that contract is signed by a minor? Or better yet, what does the Bible
say about honoring commitments for the believer and unbeliever? ?As a general rule, parents
are not liable for the contracts entered into by their minor children? (Kubasek et al., 2016, p.

between 14 and 18 years of age given the assumed insufficient psychological magnitude to
exercise legal rights (Cercel, S., Scurtu, S., 2015). Despite the fact that my son was turning 18
soon and irrespective of Marshall?s awareness to my son?s age, my son was only 17 and was not
authorized to act on my behalf. Marshall misrepresented the importance and neglected to expound
upon the legal ramifications before executing an agreement with my son. First, grossly minimizing
that his contract would be a formality and implying that I was aware of the terms and conditions
disclosed. As an unbeliever, I can only assume that he either intended to deceive or has no
appreciation for the impact his words would have had on my son. Third, implementing such an
agreement would force an unjustified and indefinite reliance to work together. Lastly, an agreement
of this nature would impede my ability to do business (i.e. sell my company to avoid loss of

Each chapter in the book is a different event that Ellis looks at in attempt to prove his thesis. One
of the arguments Ellis uses is from the chapter The Dinner. During Thomas Jefferson s dinner
party, Madison agreed to permit the core provision of Hamilton s fiscal plan to pass; and in
return Hamilton agreed to use his influence to assure...the national capital would be on the
Potomac River (Ellis 49). Hamilton did what had to be done and gave Madison the location of the
capital, in return for his plan being passed. It was not morally correct for Jefferson to broker this
compromise. In fact later Jefferson himself concluded that...the bargain made...with Hamilton was

evident how ABC news attempts to address political stories positively and negatively; while,

Subsequently, in the research, ABC news and Univision displayed a further difference in
coverage by how their quality of writing was ranked regarding factual detail, hoopla, and fluff.
Throughout the six week research study, ABC news political stories were mainly factual detail
and hoopla because it both exaggerated its findings and stated simply facts in its political
stories. Factual detail appeared evident when it covered stories about how Trump s travel ban
was blocked, Trump declared an opioid crisis, and the President is not visiting the DMZ. Hoopla
occurred when it covered stories about other politicians calling Trump bizarre, politicians
criticizing another over Twitter, and Trump s endless statements about engaging in conflict with
other politicians. Additionally, Univision produces hoopla in its top political stories, where it
overemphasizes Trump s mistakes and his administrations mistakes as well as how his efforts are
negatively impacting people. After completing research on the two news sources, ABC news and
Univision, there appeared several significant findings from it. By comparing ABC news and

Theories of Motivation Essay
Theories of Motivation
According to Greenberg (1999) motivation is defined as a process of arousing, directing and
maintaining behaviour towards a goal. Where В‘directing refers to the selection of a particular
behaviour; and В‘maintenance refers to the inclination to behave with consistency in that manner
until the desired outcome is met.
Motivation is therefore the force that transforms and uplifts people to be productive and perform in
their jobs. Maximising an employee s motivation is necessary and vital to successfully accomplish
the organisation s objectives and targets. However this is a considerable challenge to any

Pleasant working conditions and annual recognition of the В‘Best salesman of the year and В‘Best
employee of the year , also enticed productivity and motivation.
On the other hand В‘Extrinsic motivation is related to tangible rewards such as salary, fringe
benefits, job security, promotions and conditions of work. (Mullins, 2002:P490). Therefore
extrinsically motivated behaviours are those carried out to achieve some tangible rewards or
compensation.
Once again my employers excelled in designing an ideal incentive system, in their effort towards
employee motivation. They already offered very competitive wages, of course on the belief that
the more positive the reward the more likely the employee will be highly motivated and the better
the performance (Vroom, 1964). They later introduced a perpetual cash bonus scheme for the
junior staff, where every year instead of bonuses being paid out, they would be retained in the
company s employee fund. A bonus was typically a third of their net salary and with every
completed year of service their bonuses would grow.
However if the employees engaged in activities detrimental to the organisations operations, such as
pilfering, they would thus loose their accumulated bonus. This proved very effective in not only
retaining employees but also motivating them to work towards and within the organisational
parameters at maximum productivity. It also encouraged a sense of belonging and loyalty to the
organisation.

The Historical Period Of Chinese Art Essay
The 20th century is a historical period for Chinese art history. It is the time period where China
was ruled by Mao Zedong (1942 1976) and Propaganda Art was introduced.
Propaganda art is not just a fine art. It is an information transmission art that contains clear
meaning, and the most popular political vehicle for propaganda in the 20th century of China.
Propaganda art must have considerable artistic appeal to mobilize image, color, composition,
form and other factors to form a strong visual effect. Its screen often has a strong visual center,
unique artistic style and design characteristic. However, during that time, the public did not have
awareness of collecting art work. Thus, little Propaganda art still exists today even though many
of the propaganda posters were reprinted over and over, and pasted in various streets during that
time. Propaganda art played an important role in the spiritual and cultural life of the Chinese
people. As propaganda art has a special social status during the Revolutionary War and Socialist
Construction period of China, it has attracted many successful artists to engage in the creation of
posters. This resulted in different forms of propaganda art being produced. As a result, propaganda
art had become an indispensable form of Chinese artistic creation in the 20th century.
From the artistic point of view, there are numerous different types of propaganda art during the
different time periods. The main forms of propaganda art are woodcuts,

Comparing A Sorrowful Woman By Gail Godwin, And A Secret...
Children, Marriage and Love are the three main factors of the two short stories, A Sorrowful
Woman by Gail Godwin, and A Secret Sorrow by Karen van der Zee. Two relationships at risk
because of children. Neither of them know what to do but try to find solutions to solve their
problems. They end up having different outcomes.
In both stories both women face a major issue. In Godwin s story the main female character is
suffering depression and always feeling sad and tired from being around her child and taking care
of him and her husband. However, Faye in van der Zee s story is struggling with her reality of not
being able to have children and she s afraid of marrying her boyfriend, who is madly in love with
her, because she s afraid of disappointing him. Both women are unsure how to handle their problem
and their first instinct is to keep their distance and avoid their issues. Communication also played a
huge role in both situations. In A Secret Sorrow Kai wouldn t let Faye just walk away from him
without knowing what was wrong and wanted an explanation. That was the main key for their
breakthrough. In A Sorrowful Woman the husband would just agree with whatever his wifesaid and
would abide by her commands no matter how much it hurt him. If the husband would ve tried to
figure out why she was so sad and sick; things might ve gone differently.
In van der Zee s story Kai made Faye s tragedy his tragedy and made sure to let her know they

these epiphanies characters in Dubliners experience do not bring new experiences and possibility
of reform that epiphanies usually have. Joyce s epiphanies allow characters to better understand
their circumstances, generally full of sadness and grief. After these revelations, characters go back
to their lives with acceptance but frustration. Dubliners fail to see their situation fully, which is the
reason they lacked reaching their full potential. Dubliners is full of characters in lethargic
positions that Joyce saw as the fate of all Dubliners. In each story, he gave each individual the
possibility of an epiphany, but often the characters failed to break through and see their ability to
change their situations, because of this, some of these epiphanies occur only on the narrative level,
showing the reader that the story s character missed their epiphany. In fact, in The Dead , the scene
is set on/around January 6th, which is the Feast of the Epiphany. The Feast of the Epiphany
celebrates the manifestation of Christ s divinity to the Magi. The Dead is also Joyce s last chance
to make clarity of an epiphany. Will this

Palliative Pain
Pain management in palliative care has been inadequately addressed and treated by clinicians in
recent years (Wilkie and Ezenwa, 2012). This paper will identify and explore a few of the many of
the contributing factors to the inadequate management of pain as it relates to palliative care,
including the impact of painmanagement, inadequate education, and misconceptions. In an effort to
understand the underlying themes and corresponding actions to address this disparity, it is first
necessary to understand fundamental definitions and differences between palliative care and end
of life care. Wilkie and Ezenwa suggest that though palliative and end of life care both address the
pain and symptom management, of disease; palliative care specifically... Show more content on

Part of the WHO goal is to educate providers, clinicians and public on the proper assessment,
pharmacological, and non pharmacological approaches. This type of knowledge of pain
management is crucial to the multidimensional aspects and symptoms associated with common
co morbidities in palliative care (Wilkie and Ezenwa, 2012). The most commonly used tool
suggested by the WHO is the WHO Pain Relief Ladder which includes adult and child variations
that progress from non opioid with adjuvant to opioid medication (Lowe, Hanchanale and
Hurlow, 2014). The WHO ladder has been successful in providing adequate pain control in 96%
of renal failure patients and 45 100% of cancer patients on palliative care (Lowe, Hanchanale and
Hurlow, 2014). In addition to a lack of knowledge of treatment options, many individuals are
confused to the roles of specialists and non specialists in palliative care (O Brien, 2013). In order
for substantial change to occur and ultimately promote reform in palliative care pain management,
education must be initiated with the person experiencing pain. An individual s experience can be
improved if the patient is educated about the impact of pain, its consequences, and are able to play
an active role in managing their own care (Pizzo and Clark,

The Tale the Heart Tells
Poe s use of the first person point of view and a suspenseful tone, present in the mind of the
narrator, illustrates his distressed mental state to show the overpowering effects of insanity, which
influences the narrator s perception of the old man as his double. Immense insanity influences the
narrator s identification with the diseased old man, and one night he relates their moans of terror:
I knew the sound well. Many a night, just at midnight, when all the world slept, it has welled up
from my own bosom, deepening, with its dreadful echo, the terrors that distracted me. I say I knew
it well. I knew what the old man felt and pitied him although I chuckled at heart (Poe 2). The
narratorsees the man as his double through such an emphasis on their similar features, which later
becomes crucial as the narrator feels the need for the displacement of his fear. The fact that the old
man s fear is warranted due to his existence in actual physical danger serves to show that the
narrator s feeling of an association with the man through a bond of recurring paranoiais unjustified
due to such sane and normal feelings of apprehension in only this circumstance. His perceived
association with the man and constant feelings of fear, lead to his logical conclusion based off of
his own feelings of self loathing and self hatred that he would actually be doing the man a great
service by killing him, an action in which he also temporarily soothes his own agitations through a
transference

Unix Based Operating Systems System
UNIX based operating systems are very popular, and they are being used everywhere from
computer science research labs and universities to technology firms like Google, Facebook, and
IBM. There are many different types UNIX based operating systems, some of them being Mac

Windows operating system is different from Mac OS or Ubuntu or any other operating system,
and it takes a considerable amount of time for an individual to get used to a different operating
system. According to stackoverflow [3], an online community for programmers, 26% of
programmers use Mac OS as their operating system, and 21.7% use Linux as their operating
system. Companies want to hire computer scientists familiar with the technology stack of the
company, and having experience in the company s operating system is a very valuable skill. Also,
using a UNIX based operating system build a certain set of skill sets, such as experience in using a
UNIX terminal, that companies consider a must have skill for computer scientists. By having
Windows as the operating system for computer science labs, NCUS is not providing the opportunity
for students to experience using a different operating system, that might be operating system they
use after graduation. Unfamiliarly with the work computer s operating system, not knowing how to
perform simple tasks fast enough could have a significant effect on the programmer s work and the
overall productivity of the company. Therefore, addressing this issue will make the transition
between university and working at a technology firm smoother, and help students build a skill set
that will be useful in the future. Background Many companies are switching from Windows to

Minority Populations
Throughout Austin s history, minority populations were isolated through political acts such as A
City Plan in 1928, which wanted to make Austin beautiful so that involved removing minorities
from the area surrounding the capital. In addition, schools for minorities were restricted to just the
East side to force minority populations to move there. By the 1990 s, Austinwas branded with the
title Live MusicCapital of the World. This title gave rise to an economic and social boost to
Austin, but by doing so, it diluted the native culture into a hipster culture. In 1991, Austin was
awarded the title Live Music Capital of the World due to the fact it has the largest number of
music venues for population. According to Baker s article, Austin has 1 music venue for 4,125
people while the mainstream cities like New York City and Los Angeles has only 1 music venue

Ethical Dilemma And Moral Dilemma

1 Ethical/Moral Dilemma: Defination Ethical dilemma or moral dilemma is a scenario in which
a person has to make choices/decisions depending on the situation or by keeping the net
happiness in his mind. He also thinks about the consequences of the decision he will make. In
this scenario, I will be describing an ethical dilemma that I faced when I worked with an IT firm.
My team leader was stealing from the company. He used to steal the network cable and other
networking tools from the company storage unit. I started to dig this matter and I came to know
that after stealing, he was selling that tools into local market. It was his side business and he
was earning pretty good. But one day, there was a surprise inventory check conducted by our
manager. In that report a huge amount of losses were there. So a notice was issued to all
employee regarding the inside stealing and we were asked to give the other person name and
our name would be not disclosed. At that point of time I faced an ethical dilemma, whether to
give the name of my team leader with a fear of losing my job or whether to keep quiet and let
him steal more stuff till no one catches him. Part 2 Philosophical model: To solve my ethical
dilemma, I will be using Deontology as my philosophical model. Deontology is a Greek word
originated from Deon meaning obligation/morality or duty. It is

Informed Decision Making
Data is very important and critical to any organisation, so is in the telecommunication industries.
Information that can be easily used must be available so that the decisions makers within an
industry can make informed decisions based on visible facts projected by the data available. If this
is not the case, decision making processes can become extremely challenging and, in some cases,
impossible. The flow of information within an organization is critical to the success of that
organization (Davenport Prusak, 1998). Organizations struggle in collecting data, retrieving
information and making decisions based on the extracted information. A decision making process
consists of making judgments based on the qualitative data. There are several different types of
systems like Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and Enterprise Resource Planning
(ERP), which are being used by organizations to make decision processes. These systems have
progressed tremendously in the last few years by making large amounts of information accessible
using data marts and data warehouses (Wixom Watson, 2001). The above mentioned systems and
many more that are not mentioned above allow managers to analyse data depending on the business
requirements, to make better informed decisions. These systems have made the decision making
processes easy to a certain point, when used properly. If this system are not used effectively, they
can prevent optimization of the decision making process. Humans are the once who make decisions
in any organisation/industry and not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Film Safe Haven
In the romantic and drama/thriller film Safe Haven it has an unexpected twist in the final few
minutes of the movie. One of the main characters reads a letter that s giving advice and is full of
mixed emotions to the audience. However, the letter contains a surprising detail that no one saw
coming, it contained a shocking reveal about another characterin the story. Not only that but we see
flashbacks to support the twist we never saw coming, basically to show the audience of how insane
and surprising the twist was.

The film would ve been a lot more tense if it had shown greater details in that aspect.
The opening scene was powerful and dramatic, and has a beautiful visual, especially with the
sets, and cinematography. The actor Julianne Hough was very engaging in the film and played
her role outstanding. The role Julianne played is very important because it shows what a woman
in an abusive relationship goes through, and a person who watches the film and is in an abusive
relationship can possibly open their eyes and help them realize that they can escape out of that
unhealthy/abusive relationship. Furthermore, the musical and cinematography of the scenes
helped orchestrate each moment of the film in a unique and exceptional way. In the role being
played by David Lyons, his skills of acting seemed very realistic and captures the attention of the
audience, and were a highlight in every scene he was featured in. Another key downfall that the
audience may notice is the age difference between actor Josh Duhamel and actress Julianne
Hough. Besides the age difference between the actors, Josh Duhamel played an excellent role as a
father to his two kids. Compared to most romantic movies, this film seemed to have its own unique
love story and a shocking twist.

Examples Of Reversal Of Motive
2.2 Reversal of Motive
According to Worley the second type of twist is the reversal of motive (2014). The following part
will introduce what is meant with a motive twist by means of two movies.
The first example is Gone Baby Gone, in which a child with a drug addict mother goes missing
(cf. Heerum 2010: 37). Two private detectives provide assistance with the on going police
investigation in order to bring the truth to light. As the plot unfolds, it turns out that the kidnapping
was only faked and that the little girl is very well. The police captain is raising the child with his
wife giving her a happy alternative than living with her mother (cf. Heerum 2010: 38). This thriller
has a very concealed twist; the kidnapping case fabricated by the police captain definitely exceeds
the viewers expectation as his real motive comes true.
A further movie with a very complex plot is Lucky Number Slevin. The main character, Slevin is
mistaken for somebody else, who owes debts to two mafia bosses. Lurking on the fringes of the
story an international assassin is hired by both bosses to kill Slevin after he delivers the money. In
the end it turns out that Slevin is out for reaching the men responsible for his parents death and
kills the two bosses. He manages is with the help of the assassin, who ... Show more content on

The House by The Railroad
Edward Hopper is a renowned American painter. In the poem the house by the Railroad, he tries
to portray a picture of a house erected beside the railroad. This poem seems to bear a lot more
than what its simple title indicates. He has used the railroad to emphasize the rift between the
viewer s world and the picture space. The more one tries to penetrate the depths of his paintings,
the more difficult it becomes. Hopper s artistic vision was in line with his view of the
contemporary world and nature. This piece of art symbolizes loss that is felt when present progress
leaves behind an agrarian society the central theme being the Alienation of modern life.
In this picture, Victorian style house stands alone in the field. A railroad track cuts through the
foreground. There is a bare sky behind the house with no secondary objects in the immediate
surroundings of the building. this enables us to keenly focus on the articulation of the building and
its relationship with its environment.
This picture can be broken down into two basics: the house and the train line. However, this is not
really what Hopper is trying to convey to us. Life in this country is made of pure isolation in nature.
The presentation of the train cutting across the land conveys how the train serves those in the
country different from those in the city.
In the use of light to depict the mood of the situation, Hopper uses intense light

The Effects Of Sleep On Respiratory Diseases
Introduction
Almost half of children s life is spent asleep. Therefore, it is important for the clinicians to know
the effect of sleep on respiratory diseases. (Marcus, 2001) Sleep disordered breathing may lead to
serious and miserable complications such as sleep fragmentation, cognitive and behavioral changes,
growth retardation, pulmonary hypertension and cor pulmonale. Unfortunately the prevalence of
sleep related breathing disorders is high (3 12% of pediatric population); obstructive sleep apnea
syndrome alone affects 3% of children.(Church 2012) Before the development of sleep studies,
pediatricians mainly depended on history and physical examination for the diagnosis of sleep
disorders. Researchers have tried to formulate clinical score questionnaires as an alternative to
polysomnography. For the first time in 1984, the role of history and physical examination in the
diagnosis of OSAS was assessed by Brouillete. However, several studies have demonstrated that
clinical presentation alone cannot differentiate sleep related breathing disorders such as primary
snoring from OSAS. Brietzke SE (Brietzke, Katz et al. 2004) showed that only 55.8% of patients
were identified by clinical presentation as OSAS; were confirmed by polysomnography later. This
unreliability could be caused by several factors; the most significant one is inaccuracy of history as
some parents may overestimate difficulties in

Short Essay On The Reconstruction Era
The Reconstruction Era began in 1865. This time period consisted of rebuilding the United
States after the Civil War. Slaves were set free and did not have the slightest idea on how to
survive on their own. Blacks were never legitimately free, with lack of resources and racist laws,
the slaves had no choice but to return to their masters. Blacks were set free, but their freedom
was extremely limited due to the strictness of racist laws. The laws were keeping blacks from
bettering themselves to be able to survive on their own without having to depend on whites. The
laws were completely controlling freedmen s liberty and lives. Curfews were set in order to
keep slaves from getting together and forming groups. The racists whites wanted to keep blacks
from being able to protest or march for blacks rights. The Louisiana Black Codes stated that no
freed man who was not in the military could not have any firearms or weapons of any kind.
Without guns blacks would not be able to protect themselves. Blacks would go hungry because

Commodities are defined as things that are bought and sold in a social system of exchange.
(Sturken Cartwright, 2009, p. 279 ) The concept of commodity culture is intricately allied with the
idea that we construct our identities through the consumer products that inhabit our lives (Sturken

Not only does it allow the development of a broader social context of devaluing labour, making it
hard for workers to take pride in their work but it also allows consumers to remain ignorant of
working conditions. (Sturken Cartwright 2009, p. 280) This image is an example of commodity
fetishism because it is essentially a process of mystification that not only empties commodities of
the meaning of their production but also fills them with new, appealing meaning. (Sturken
Cartwright 2009, p. 279) The process of making something seem more appealing is used to
promote and sell the product. Consumers purchase Calvin Klein jeans because they are a
designer label and are promoted as being fashionable and worn by celebrities. Consumers are not
purchasing the Calvin Klein jeans because they were mass produced in a different country or
because of the people who produced them. This example relates back to the Frankfurt school
theory that commodities are hollowed out objects that propagated a loss of identity and erode our
sense of history. (Kaplan 2006, p. 105)
Image two is the front cover of a book. It shows chocolate and has been chosen as an example of
commodity fetishism. Chocolate is associated with desire and is a form of pleasure in people s
lives. Chocolate is also a popular gift to give loved ones for birthdays and special occasions.
Chocolate is a symbol of love and comes in many shapes and forms which can suit a variety of
occasions. It is

Abuse of Power in the Handmaids Tale
Within the totalitarian society created by Margaret Atwood in the Handmaid s Tale, there are
many people and regimes centred around and reliant on the manipulation of power. The laws
that are in place in the republic of Gilead are designed and implemented so as to control and
restrict the rights and freedom of its inhabitants. In the republic of Gilead, there are many rules
and restrictions within all levels of the community, wives, econowives, common men and
handmaid s included, which limit the goings on of the people. These rules were all created by
the men in charge, going by the name of The sons of Jacob and are forcefully implemented by the
angels, the male soldiers and protectors . The roles of those in charge all belong to a... Show more

This may not be the most horrendous crime she could have committed but it portrays a disregard
for the laws and an opinion that she is above such petty restrictions. As it was her husband who
wrote these laws, it is deceitful for her to be in possession of items deemed unsuitable for
society. Apart from illegal substance possession, Serena and some of her fellow wives were
revealed to have organised secret liaisons between their handmaids and fertile men, hurrying the
procreation process. This was often done without the knowledge of their husbands, many of
whom were suspected to be sterile in any case. However, despite the unlikelihood of any
offspring produced by the husbands, it is not right by Gilead and its ideals, for the wives to be
taking steps to defy the laws set down for the good of the people and the nations survival. These
wives are acting for their own gains and desires, not for the good of the handmaids. The
handmaids are placed in a household with the assurance of protection from the wife. The wives
are supposed to act as mentors and guardian angels, shielding and caring for the handmaid under
their roof, not throwing her at the closest man with the highest viable sperm count. The wives
have a strong desire to have children, even via other women, so as to feel power or superiority
over fellow women of equal stature. They ensure the provision of a child by setting up

Social Media Wellness, By Ana Homayoun
Ana Homayoun, author of Social Media Wellness: Helping Teens and Tweens Thrive in an
Unbalanced Digital World, wrote an article in The New York Times about the conflicts parents
face with allowing their children to have smartphones. She gives insight on how to minimize the
risk of smartphone addiction by establishing guidelines and monitoring children s use. Reasons
for Concern In Homayoun s article, she cites a study done by Common Sense Media in 2016
which found that half of teenagers felt addicted to their smartphones, 78 percent checked their
devices hourly, and 72 percent of teens felt pressured to respond immediately to social media
messages, texts, or any kind of notification. Homayoun also cites another study done by Pew
Research in 2015 which found that 74 percent of teenagers from 13 to 17 year olds had
smartphones and a quarter of them felt like they were online continuously. Distinguishing

The Hero s Journey Defined is an article written by Joseph Campbell. In the article, Campbell
writes about the characteristics a hero possesses and the stages of his journey. The author also
writes about the different challenges the hero must overcome, as well as the the aftermath of the
journey. In the article, Campbell talks about the heros call that initiates his journey. The hero
normally begins his journey for a number of different reasons including the fight for a certain
cause, the sacrifices for a beloved person, or a call to find something that was lost inside the hero
himself. The call to adventure is a key event in a hero s journey because it ignites the passion in

Analysis Of The Dogs Could Teach Me By Gary Paulsen
(T) Out of the three stories, The Dogs Could Teach Me, The Sniper, and The Flowers, The Dogs
Could Teach Me by Gary Paulsen best demonstrates description. (I #1) This is so because
Paulsen consistently describes situations, feelings, and scenery throughout the entire story
unlike The Sniper. (Q E #1) Paulsen begins The Dogs Could Teach Me by writing, There was a
point where an old logging trail went through a small, sharp sided gully a tiny canyon...It might
have been a game trail that was slightly widened or an old foot trail that had not caved in.
Likewise, Liam O Flaherty starts out The Sniper by writing, Dublin lay enveloped in darkness
but for the dim light of the moon that shone through fleecy clouds, casting a pale light as of
approaching dawn over the streets... However, by the third paragraph of The Dogs Could Teach
Me Paulsen continues the same pattern of writing saying, Later I saw the beauty of it, the falling
lobes of blue ice that had grown as the water froze and refroze, layering on itself, while O
Flaherty scrivens, He was eating a sandwich hungrily. He had eaten nothing since morning. He had
been too excited to eat, by the third paragraph. (A #1) Even though the very beginning of The
Sniper was much like the very beginning of The Dogs Could Teach Me, in the sense that both of the
authors started out with very strong descriptions, Paulsen s portrayals end up turning out more
powerful because of how consistent they are. Between

Woodrow Wilson and The Presidency Essays
Woodrow Wilson and The Presidency
From the beginning of the 1912 election, the people could sense the new ideas of Woodrow
Wilson would move them in the right direction. Wilson s idea of New Freedom would almost
guarantee his presidential victory in 1912. In contrast to Wilson s New Freedom, Roosevelt s New
Nationalism called for the continued consolidation of trusts and labor unions, paralleled by the
growth of powerful regulatory agencies. Roosevelt s ideas were founded in the Herbert
Croly s novel, The Promise Of American Life written in 1910. Although both
Wilson and Roosevelt favored a more active government role in economic and social affairs, Wilson

The new Federal Reserve
Board, appointed by the president, oversaw a nationwide system of twelve regional re served
districts, each with its own central bank. The final authority over these banks was granted to the
Federal Reserve Board, which guaranteed a substantial measure of public control. The board was
also empowered to issue paper money called quot;Federal Reserve Notes. quot; The amount of
money in circulation could be swiftly increased as needed for the legitimate requirements of
business.
In 1914, Woodrow Wilsontried to tame the trusts. Again making a personal ap pearance to address
Congress with his propositions helped dramatize the situation and sway the support towards his
ideas. Congress responded with the Federal Trade Commis sion Act of 1914. The new law
empowered a presidentially appointed commission to toughen regulations on interstate commerce.
This was supposed to crush monopolies by wiping out unfair trade policies. Next came the Clayton
Anti Trust Act of 1914, which was meant to further strangle the major monopolies. It lengthened
the list of business practices deemed objectionable in the Sherman Act. Now, price discrimination
and inter locking directorates were gravely forbidden.
Wilson had caught the attention of the public by conquering the quot;triple wall of privilege. quot;

Herbal Remedies Should Not Be Legal
A pill for this and a pill for that seems to be all I hear. I say, No, no, no, give me options! It s my
health, and I want choices! Considering herbal remedies have been recorded for thousands of
years for medicinal purposes, I do not understand why I am not given choices for my health
therapy. Herbal remedies should not only be an option in the past, but should be considered and
option made accessible to everyone today. Using herbal remedies and supplements has changed
and restored my health, as I was able to cure my serious health issue without the use of
prescription medication. Herbs and herbal remedies have a long history with favorable results,
learning from my personal experience I believe people should be informed, and offered herbal
remedies as an alternative to avert, or possibly even cure some health issues. Although, herbal
remedies may not be the solution to all health problems, taking into consideration of the history
recorded, alternative remedies should be considered as an option for preventative care and
treatment. To be given information on the historical uses of herbs and herbal remedies, with
regards to our health, would be beneficial to us all as this would give people choices. Plants have
been used for medicinal purposes long before recorded history. Ancient Chinese and Egyptian
papyrus writings describe medicinal uses for plants as early as 3,000 BC. Indigenous cultures (such
as African and Native American) used herbs in their healing

Relationship Between The Crc And The Optional Protocol
1.The relationship between the CRC and the Optional Protocol is supplemental, being that the CRC
is the binding/ruling international law on children s rights and the Optional Protocol expounds and
expands upon issues that the CRC did not address sufficiently. The Optional Protocol is a separate
convention that expands on three issues: armed conflict, sale of children, and communication.
States that choose to ratify the Optional Protocol, do so by the same methods as the CRC, thus
superseding the CRC provision on that issue. Under the CRC, article 28, age fifteen was the only
age that could be agreed upon for children to participate in armed conflict, therefore, that is the
minimum age; however, the Optional Protocol convention stated that age fifteen was too low and
decided that age eighteen should be the minimum for participation in armed conflict. The Optional
Protocol on the sale of children expands on the CRC s stance on the exploitation of children. The
Optional Protocol made specific provisions on the sale of children in the sexual context such as
prostitution and pornography. It outlines the measures that States should take in protecting children
rom sexual exploitation. The Optional Protocol on communication is fairly new and it recognizes
children s rights to bring grievances on the violation of their rights to the committee. It also outlines
ways that States and governments can help children submit their claims. 2a.Haiti reported that

Insurance, 2016).
If an insurer is employed, employers must file wage reports through (Form W 2) with the Social
Security Administration showing the wages paid to each employee during the preceding year, at
the beginning of February. The W 2 form will be shared with the IRS. If an insurance holder is

connection with their Federal income tax return. Information from self employment income
reports is sent by IRS to SSA. These reported earnings are placed in the worker s record at SSA

Analysis Of Mr. Hyde By Robert Louis Stevenson
For as long as man has learned to fear, whopping frights have existed. Some of these were
entirely born from fables, others based upon biased knowledge of the world. Legends of many
ancient beasts survive for a multitude of generations. Of course we realize these humongous
horrors are as real as fairy tales, but they serve a greater purpose than to ignite terror in people they
mean to educate. While mere folktales, such as the bogeyman, keep toddlers in bed at night, authors
for mature audiences use hellions to teach more valuable lessons. From astronomic leviathans, such
as IshirЕЌ Honda s Godzilla who educate about great responsibility, or the plesiosaurus of Ray
Bradbury, who give windows into the minds of the lonely, to the horrors of the subconscious,
exemplified by Robert Louis Stevensons Mr. Hyde, horrors have deeper concepts to them that
educate in an allegoric fashion. Human nature has always presented a natural love for fantastic
stories, and many elders use these parables to disarm listeners and scare the message into them.
In IshirЕЌ Honda s original movie, Godzilla: King of the Monsters , destruction of major cities
represents how humans should exercise caution with great power. IshirЕЌ Honda develops this
theme with a narrator s dramatic tone and heinous mood. Godzilla existed as a remnant of the
cretaceous era, a theropod known as a Godzillasaurus. An infamous kaiju who rises from the Pacific
and levels buildings (sometimes battling other gigantic mammoths),

Critical Analysis Of The Clash Of Civilization
In The Clash of Civilization, Samuel P. Huntington argues that globalization has united cultures that
were normally very withdrawn. It has increased contact between these cultures, which then led to an
increase in misunderstanding, resentment, and eventually conflict. Huntington also hypothesizes
that the leading factor of conflict in the 21st century will be the differences between cultures. This
will eventually result in the change of dominance within civilizations to different civilizations.
Lastly, he also predicts that the West, Arab nations, such as Saudi Arabia, and China will also have
and an increase in cultural conflict with one another.
Huntington then goes on to hypothesize that the ultimate source of conflict in this world will not
only be ideological or economical but the division between human kind will mostly take place
because of the cultural conflict. He says that The clash of civilizations will dominate global politics.
The fault lines between civilizations will be the battle lines of the future. (82). In order to have a
better and concise understanding of Huntington s Clash of Civilizations? it is necessary to
understand the strengths of his argument. The strengths in his argument are well portrayed through
his division of the world in eight different civilizations and also through his explanation of why
there is conflict between cultures. Also, he portrays that cultural issues tend to be more
complicated to resolve than political dilemmas. These

the culture of America. Because of the two very different cultures, the narrator and her mother have
many disagreements throughout the book. The tension is due to the language barrier that the two

At the beginning of the novel, we are given a tale of an old lady that plans to give her daughter a
swan feather but waits until she is able to communicate to her daughter in perfect English. The
feather here represents the Chinese culture that the mothers plan on passing down to their
daughters. Due to the inability to communicate, however, the mothers are unable to accurately pass
down the life lessons that the stories tell. This is because a handful of Chinese words are unable to
be directly translated to the daughters and the lessons the stories bring will impact the daughters
differently because of the different lifestyles caused by the two cultures. When the narrator
attempts to relay her mother s life story to her step sisters, she is unable tell apart her mother s
stories from what was real and what was figurative. Caused by the cultural barriers, the narrator
states that she knows nothing about the past of her mother. As her aunts hear this, the narrator
describes their feelings: They are

The Service Concept, Servqual Model And Understanding...
For this report I will be looking into conduction a critique piece examining the ideas, theories and
techniques specifically looking into the purpose application and limitation or the service concept,
Servqual model and understanding customer types.
The Service Concept
Application
The service concept can simply be broken down into three different stages which is firstly the
organising idea this is basically when the service is used or bought by the consumer. The next
being the service provided, this is the process in which affects the way their service provider ends
up interacting with their customer base. Last but not least is the service received, now the service
received is the end result of the customers overall experience in particular the emotions that they
then feel towards this posing the question if they were satisfied with the service provide and lastly
was it good value for the money that they ended up paying for it. (Johnston Clark 2008)
A brilliant example of the service concept would be to look at Alton towers concept which is
very good, the organising idea is quite a basic concept which involves having a great day out at
the theme park with over 100 rides for families and amusement park goers and thrill seekers
leaving them with a vast array of options to choose from.
The service provided is free car parking, helpful staff, huge amount off customer toilets, Clean Park,
and generally well run amusement park. With that being said this is what the customer is

  • 3. Affordable Care Act Case Study The fertility rate is an important factor when evaluating the health of the public. Despite the United States having one of the best healthcare systems in the world, approximately 13% of women between the age of 18 44 have trouble conceiving. Although the US has implemented the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, a landmark policy, assisting millions of Americans in obtaining health insurance, unless altered, the policy could hurt the 3 out of 20 women who struggle with infertility. After evaluating the core essential benefits of the Affordable Care Act, the views of stakeholders, and the state mandates, an easy solution can be established to assist those suffering from impaired fecundity. Introduction Although minimum mandates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some states cover In Vitro Fertilization and other medically aided insemination procedures, while other states only cover pharmaceutical therapy. Some of the states who offer the use of advanced reproductive technologies, places limits on lifetime attempts, similarly states who only offer drug therapy limit the approved list of drugs. Infertility coverage varies from state to state, even in states with a mandate. The level of coverage tends to reflect the views of the individual state, and their constituents. States who are highly influenced by the religious facets of society often put limits of the list of approved interventions. In 2009 the Catholic Church stated The church has compassion for couples suffering from infertility and want to be of real help to them. At the same time, some reproductive technologies are not morally legitimate ways to solve those problems. Many other religious groups have similar opinions, and advocate for a limitation in the approved procedures. The religion argument does not really work I would take this out bc so far you have been discussing the economics and politics of coverage and then out of left field you throw in a paragraph on religion that has no ... • 4. Industrial and Organizational Psychology INTRODUCTION Effective Communication is significant for managers in the organizations so as to perform the basic functions of management, i.e., Planning, Organizing, Leading and Controlling. Communication helps managers to perform their jobs and responsibilities. Communication serves as a foundation for planning. All the essential information must be communicated to the managers who in turn must communicate the plans so as to implement them. Organizing also requires effective communication with others about their job task. Similarly leaders as managers must communicate effectively with their subordinates so as to achieve the team goals. Controlling is not possible without written and oral communication. Managers devote a great part of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Any change in plans might be communicated with the employees in advance so that resistance may not come from them. Communication helps the organization in this regard by supplying information to the employee. CHARACTERISTICS OF COMMUNICATIONS: Segmented: Even in small organizations, it is wrong to assume that all employees will have the same needs, interests and desires when it comes to business communication. Effective business communication is segmented to meet the needs of specific audiences. Employees working in an administrative setting, for instance, will have different needs and different access to information than employees working in a manufacturing environment. Specific: Generic business communication doesn t meet the needs of anyone. Effective business communication is specific. The more specific communication is, the more it meets the needs of its audience. Accurate: When information is inaccurate it loses its credibility. The sender of the information also loses credibility. Effective business communication is accurate in terms of the content conveyed and in terms of simple things that include grammar, spelling and punctuation. Timely: Employees need to know what is going on in their organizations and in the external environment that impacts them. Today s technology driven environment makes it more challenging than ever before for businesses to communicate with employees in a timely manner, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Contribution of the Supernatural to Richard III Essay The Contribution of the Supernatural to Richard III During the Renaissance period people were very superstitious and England on a whole was an extremely religious country; people believed in both God and the Devil and Heaven and Hell. They also believed in prophecies, supernatural and curses. A modern audience would have reacted very differently to the play than a Shakespearean audience. The events contained within Richard III must have seemed very real to a Shakespearean audience as it depicts the historical events of the rise and fall of Richard III. For a Shakespearean audience these events happened only a century earlier. To a modern audience it is viewed as what it is, a dramatisation of a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Richard III is a play based upon the dramatisation of history. The supernatural is an event that depends upon the superseding of the laws of nature, an event which cannot occur naturally in our world under any circumstances with or without the assistance of any natural being. Only God, or the Devil, has the power to cause supernatural events to occur. Richard III deals with supernatural elements such as curses, devils, dreams and witchcraft. I believe supernatural elements were included in Richard III to add a sense of dread that matches the malice of Richard, to show that divine nemesis exists. Shakespeare created Richard as a machiavellian who takes delight in governing through fear and force. He is a character of sheer evil; however Shakespeare provides a contrast to Richard s villainy via the voices of the female characters. Margaret and Anne contribute by predicting the dire consequences of Richard s acts; they also express their intense hatred through curses. The most common use of supernatural by Shakespeare within Richard III is curses. Curses are magic spells placed upon people with the intention of harm. The desired affect of curses can range from illness to death. Curses are commonly associated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Importance Of Bilingual In Deaf Culture My feeling was a bit surprised and complicated when I first hear that deaf parents want to conceive a deaf baby. Because if I have not taken any classes about deaf culture or prior to reading Candy and Sharon s story, I would normally think it is unfair to the children to be born with disabilities, especially when the parents are already deaf who sure know the difficulties and obstacles that a deaf child will have to experience in the future. What if the child grew up and blamed the parents to make the decision for him depended on personal preferences and inflicting hardship on him? Because even though the deaf community exists, the majority of the population is living in the hearingworld. There is still some inconvenience for the deaf people today. However, after I took CSD courses and read the article, I have changed my viewpoint about deafness. Now I start to understand more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Deaf people are not limited by hearing loss and are able to achieve what the hearing people can achieve. Some deaf people are proud of being deaf not from the medical perspective, but from the linguistic perspective. Since ASL is capable of supporting the highest levels of abstract mind to mind communication, it is considered to be a rich language. From the linguistic point, the deaf people are viewed as bilingual in ASL and English. Unlike others, their first language is ASL instead of English. There are so many deaf people out there that are teachers, writers, lawyers, doctors, etc. Sharon and Candy, the deaf couples who want their children to be deaf in the article A World of Their Own by Liza Mundy, all performed well academically and are graduates from universities. They see how successful deaf people can be as well as the capabilities of their deaf child. Parents always want to give the best to their children. • 7. Hmax Model Paper Final Project: Research about HMAX model Seok Hee Lee Abstract In this paper, I investigated some of the models of computational neuroscience used in the face recognition field. The model to be discussed is HMAX model. The paper contains what HMAX model is, how it is derived in terms of biological background, and how it is being used for facial recognition. Also, I simulated the simplified version of the model in MATLAB. The simulation of the simplified version verified one cell in the highest hierarchy covers the entire retinal space of the given image. INTRODUCTION First of all, I looked into the paper written by Riesenhuber and how HMAX model is derived from a biological concept of a visual cortex. It begins with the power of cells found in macaque inferotemporal cortex (IT). The cells in IT are considered as essential cells for recognizing an object and IT is the highest area in the ventral visual stream. They are tuned to views of complicated objects, for instance a face of human. Their response remains almost the same when scale or position of an object changes, and it is one of the characteristic of these cells. This raises a question: how can these cells distinguish similar faces? In the other words, this paper talks what mechanism these cells use to respond differently from the similar inputs. This question is related to the model proposed by Hubel and Wiesel. In this model, simple cells with neighboring receptive fields feed into higher hierarchy cell and this ... It was estimated that in 2006 forecast would peak with 63% penetration rate for digital cameras in the US. After 2006, the growth rate was expected to fall negative. And therefore it needed a new concept that is to have a consensus forecasting that would accurately reveal market demand and align the needs of key actors in the forecasting process. Leitax implemented two specific changes in forecasting process. The first one is to switch the focus from sell in to sell through and second one is to ignore capacity constraints. QUESTION 3 The mission of the Forecast Re Design Team was to reduce expenses and risks associated with production and costs of procurement, inventory, quality control and technical infrastructure. According to Fowler, there were four objectives: (1), to reduce inventory levels across the supply chain; (2) to increase velocity and accuracy of planning information throughout the supply chain; (3) to increase supply upside and downside flexibility; and (4) to improve on time performance to customers. Access control is used in determining whether or not to grant or deny access to these resources or services to an employee, group of employees or to an entire department. There are four commonly used types of access control methods; however for a smaller company without many employees at this point in time Discretionary Access Control (DAC) would be good starting point for ZXY Inc. Discretionary access control allows the owner of the service or resource to determine who is granted and who is denied access to certain resources. The owner of each resource and service will be given full authority on granting and denying permissions over what they have ownership of. ZXY Inc. does need to make sure that it does not make just one employee the owner of every resource and service. This is done in order to make sure that one potential bad employee doesn t harm the entire company s information security network with malicious acts. In regards to user accounts and passwords, a few steps should be taken in order to safeguard company information and protect company data. Each individual employee should be given a unique username that will be used as part of the employee s network log on. The picture shows two women with a serious look and making eye contact with the camera, this shows alludes to a fight of women rights. In the picture both women are holding a fist in the air, this signifies strength and solidarity. The third essential element highlighted is the filter of the picture, the filter being black and white shows unity as human beings and every race. The picture represents three main topics which are women rights, strength and unity The first important detail of the Gloria Steinem picture is the one that stands out the most, the two women. This iconic photograph is of both Gloria Steinem and Dorothy Pitman Hughes with their fist in the air while staring into the camera. Gloria Steinem and Dorothy Pitman were both feminist activist so seeing both in this photograph portrays them as standing up for women s rights and equality. Around when Gloria began attempting to make an impact towards feminism was around the 1960s. This was a time where women were not seen as equal to men or had as many opportunities. There was an expectation of women that they were to be stay at home mothers and take care of their children and husband as shown in this article about women barriers in the 60s A woman was expected to follow one path: to marry in her early 20s, start a family quickly, and devote her life to homemaking . Legal Analysis Of Contract Case Study CONTRACT ANALYSIS8 Running Head: CONTRACT ANALYSIS1 Legal Analysis of Contract Case Study Rachelle Sepich Liberty University Summary of Contractual Issue Marshall and I have an existing business relationship in that I manufacture and supply products that Marshall needs. Generally, the relationship has gone well except for Marshall?s late payments from time to time. Astoundingly, Marshall prepared a contract which was presented as a technicality intended for documentation of commitment between our companies to continue doing business with one another (Kubasek et al., 2016, p. 249). Marshall provided this substantive unconscionability contract to my son with undue influence in his assertions (Kubasek et al., 2016, p. 251). It?s... Or better yet, what does the Bible say about honoring commitments for the believer and unbeliever? ?As a general rule, parents are not liable for the contracts entered into by their minor children? (Kubasek et al., 2016, p. 226). Cercel and Scurtu advised civil law regulates that there is limited legal capacity of minors between 14 and 18 years of age given the assumed insufficient psychological magnitude to exercise legal rights (Cercel, S., Scurtu, S., 2015). Despite the fact that my son was turning 18 soon and irrespective of Marshall?s awareness to my son?s age, my son was only 17 and was not authorized to act on my behalf. Marshall misrepresented the importance and neglected to expound upon the legal ramifications before executing an agreement with my son. First, grossly minimizing that his contract would be a formality and implying that I was aware of the terms and conditions disclosed. As an unbeliever, I can only assume that he either intended to deceive or has no appreciation for the impact his words would have had on my son. Third, implementing such an agreement would force an unjustified and indefinite reliance to work together. Lastly, an agreement of this nature would impede my ability to do business (i.e. sell my company to avoid loss of customers and imminent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Thomas Ellis The Dinner Each chapter in the book is a different event that Ellis looks at in attempt to prove his thesis. One of the arguments Ellis uses is from the chapter The Dinner. Hoopla occurred when it covered stories about other politicians calling Trump bizarre, politicians criticizing another over Twitter, and Trump s endless statements about engaging in conflict with other politicians. Additionally, Univision produces hoopla in its top political stories, where it overemphasizes Trump s mistakes and his administrations mistakes as well as how his efforts are negatively impacting people. Where В‘directing refers to the selection of a particular behaviour; and В‘maintenance refers to the inclination to behave with consistency in that manner until the desired outcome is met. Motivation is therefore the force that transforms and uplifts people to be productive and perform in their jobs. They already offered very competitive wages, of course on the belief that the more positive the reward the more likely the employee will be highly motivated and the better the performance (Vroom, 1964). They later introduced a perpetual cash bonus scheme for the junior staff, where every year instead of bonuses being paid out, they would be retained in the company s employee fund. A bonus was typically a third of their net salary and with every completed year of service their bonuses would grow. However if the employees engaged in activities detrimental to the organisations operations, such as pilfering, they would thus loose their accumulated bonus. It is an information transmission art that contains clear meaning, and the most popular political vehicle for propaganda in the 20th century of China. Propaganda art must have considerable artistic appeal to mobilize image, color, composition, form and other factors to form a strong visual effect. Its screen often has a strong visual center, unique artistic style and design characteristic. However, during that time, the public did not have awareness of collecting art work. Thus, little Propaganda art still exists today even though many of the propaganda posters were reprinted over and over, and pasted in various streets during that time. • 22. Analysis Of James Joyce s Dubliners Dubliners Bria LeeAnn Coleman ENG 299 Dr. Mark Facknitz October 12, 2015 Epiphanies in James Joyce s Dubliners Characters in Dubliners experience revelations in their every day lives which James Joyce called epiphanies. Merriam Webster defines an epiphany as an illuminating discovery, realization, or disclosure. While word epiphany has a religious connotation, these epiphanies characters in Dubliners experience do not bring new experiences and possibility of reform that epiphanies usually have. Joyce s epiphanies allow characters to better understand their circumstances, generally full of sadness and grief. After these revelations, characters go back to their lives with acceptance but frustration. Dubliners fail to see their situation fully, which is the reason they lacked reaching their full potential. Dubliners is full of characters in lethargic positions that Joyce saw as the fate of all Dubliners. In each story, he gave each individual the possibility of an epiphany, but often the characters failed to break through and see their ability to change their situations, because of this, some of these epiphanies occur only on the narrative level, showing the reader that the story s character missed their epiphany. In fact, in The Dead , the scene is set on/around January 6th, which is the Feast of the Epiphany. The Feast of the Epiphany celebrates the manifestation of Christ s divinity to the Magi. The Dead is also Joyce s last chance to make clarity of an epiphany. Will this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This type of knowledge of pain management is crucial to the multidimensional aspects and symptoms associated with common co morbidities in palliative care (Wilkie and Ezenwa, 2012). The most commonly used tool suggested by the WHO is the WHO Pain Relief Ladder which includes adult and child variations that progress from non opioid with adjuvant to opioid medication (Lowe, Hanchanale and Hurlow, 2014). The WHO ladder has been successful in providing adequate pain control in 96% of renal failure patients and 45 100% of cancer patients on palliative care (Lowe, Hanchanale and Hurlow, 2014). In addition to a lack of knowledge of treatment options, many individuals are confused to the roles of specialists and non specialists in palliative care (O Brien, 2013). In order for substantial change to occur and ultimately promote reform in palliative care pain management, education must be initiated with the person experiencing pain. The Tale the Heart Tells Poe s use of the first person point of view and a suspenseful tone, present in the mind of the narrator, illustrates his distressed mental state to show the overpowering effects of insanity, which influences the narrator s perception of the old man as his double. Many a night, just at midnight, when all the world slept, it has welled up from my own bosom, deepening, with its dreadful echo, the terrors that distracted me. I say I knew it well. I knew what the old man felt and pitied him although I chuckled at heart (Poe 2). The narratorsees the man as his double through such an emphasis on their similar features, which later becomes crucial as the narrator feels the need for the displacement of his fear. The fact that the old man s fear is warranted due to his existence in actual physical danger serves to show that the narrator s feeling of an association with the man through a bond of recurring paranoiais unjustified due to such sane and normal feelings of apprehension in only this circumstance. His perceived association with the man and constant feelings of fear, lead to his logical conclusion based off of his own feelings of self loathing and self hatred that he would actually be doing the man a great service by killing him, an action in which he also temporarily soothes his own agitations through a transference ... Information that can be easily used must be available so that the decisions makers within an industry can make informed decisions based on visible facts projected by the data available. If this is not the case, decision making processes can become extremely challenging and, in some cases, impossible. The flow of information within an organization is critical to the success of that organization (Davenport Prusak, 1998). Organizations struggle in collecting data, retrieving information and making decisions based on the extracted information. A decision making process consists of making judgments based on the qualitative data. There are several different types of systems like Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), which are being used by organizations to make decision processes. These systems have progressed tremendously in the last few years by making large amounts of information accessible using data marts and data warehouses (Wixom Watson, 2001). The above mentioned systems and many more that are not mentioned above allow managers to analyse data depending on the business requirements, to make better informed decisions. The following part will introduce what is meant with a motive twist by means of two movies. The first example is Gone Baby Gone, in which a child with a drug addict mother goes missing (cf. In the poem the house by the Railroad, he tries to portray a picture of a house erected beside the railroad. This poem seems to bear a lot more than what its simple title indicates. He has used the railroad to emphasize the rift between the viewer s world and the picture space. The more one tries to penetrate the depths of his paintings, the more difficult it becomes. Hopper s artistic vision was in line with his view of the contemporary world and nature. This piece of art symbolizes loss that is felt when present progress leaves behind an agrarian society the central theme being the Alienation of modern life. In this picture, Victorian style house stands alone in the field. A railroad track cuts through the foreground. There is a bare sky behind the house with no secondary objects in the immediate surroundings of the building. this enables us to keenly focus on the articulation of the building and its relationship with its environment. This picture can be broken down into two basics: the house and the train line. However, this is not really what Hopper is trying to convey to us. • 35. The Effects Of Sleep On Respiratory Diseases Introduction Almost half of children s life is spent asleep. Therefore, it is important for the clinicians to know the effect of sleep on respiratory diseases. (Marcus, 2001) Sleep disordered breathing may lead to serious and miserable complications such as sleep fragmentation, cognitive and behavioral changes, growth retardation, pulmonary hypertension and cor pulmonale. Unfortunately the prevalence of sleep related breathing disorders is high (3 12% of pediatric population); obstructive sleep apnea syndrome alone affects 3% of children.(Church 2012) Before the development of sleep studies, pediatricians mainly depended on history and physical examination for the diagnosis of sleep disorders. Researchers have tried to formulate clinical score questionnaires as an alternative to polysomnography. For the first time in 1984, the role of history and physical examination in the diagnosis of OSAS was assessed by Brouillete. However, several studies have demonstrated that clinical presentation alone cannot differentiate sleep related breathing disorders such as primary snoring from OSAS. Brietzke SE (Brietzke, Katz et al. 2004) showed that only 55.8% of patients were identified by clinical presentation as OSAS; were confirmed by polysomnography later. This unreliability could be caused by several factors; the most significant one is inaccuracy of history as some parents may overestimate difficulties in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Slaves were set free and did not have the slightest idea on how to survive on their own. Blacks were never legitimately free, with lack of resources and racist laws, the slaves had no choice but to return to their masters. Identify and analyse three images that demonstrate the way commodity fetishism is impacting on contemporary society and culture. Commodities are defined as things that are bought and sold in a social system of exchange. (Sturken Cartwright, 2009, p. 279 ) The concept of commodity culture is intricately allied with the idea that we construct our identities through the consumer products that inhabit our lives (Sturken Cartwright 2009, p. 279) The idea of a commodity culture has been described by media theorist Stuart Ewen as a commodity self. He believes that we are constructed through our relationship with and use of commodities in our everyday lives. Karl Marx ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only does it allow the development of a broader social context of devaluing labour, making it hard for workers to take pride in their work but it also allows consumers to remain ignorant of working conditions. (Sturken Cartwright 2009, p. 280) This image is an example of commodity fetishism because it is essentially a process of mystification that not only empties commodities of the meaning of their production but also fills them with new, appealing meaning. (Sturken Cartwright 2009, p. 279) The process of making something seem more appealing is used to promote and sell the product. Consumers purchase Calvin Klein jeans because they are a designer label and are promoted as being fashionable and worn by celebrities. Consumers are not purchasing the Calvin Klein jeans because they were mass produced in a different country or because of the people who produced them. This example relates back to the Frankfurt school theory that commodities are hollowed out objects that propagated a loss of identity and erode our sense of history. Relationship Between The Crc And The Optional Protocol 1.The relationship between the CRC and the Optional Protocol is supplemental, being that the CRC is the binding/ruling international law on children s rights and the Optional Protocol expounds and expands upon issues that the CRC did not address sufficiently. The Optional Protocol is a separate convention that expands on three issues: armed conflict, sale of children, and communication. States that choose to ratify the Optional Protocol, do so by the same methods as the CRC, thus superseding the CRC provision on that issue. Under the CRC, article 28, age fifteen was the only age that could be agreed upon for children to participate in armed conflict, therefore, that is the minimum age; however, the Optional Protocol convention stated that age fifteen was too low and decided that age eighteen should be the minimum for participation in armed conflict. The Optional Protocol on the sale of children expands on the CRC s stance on the exploitation of children. The Optional Protocol made specific provisions on the sale of children in the sexual context such as prostitution and pornography. Some of these were entirely born from fables, others based upon biased knowledge of the world. Legends of many ancient beasts survive for a multitude of generations. Of course we realize these humongous horrors are as real as fairy tales, but they serve a greater purpose than to ignite terror in people they mean to educate. While mere folktales, such as the bogeyman, keep toddlers in bed at night, authors for mature audiences use hellions to teach more valuable lessons. From astronomic leviathans, such as IshirЕЌ Honda s Godzilla who educate about great responsibility, or the plesiosaurus of Ray Bradbury, who give windows into the minds of the lonely, to the horrors of the subconscious, exemplified by Robert Louis Stevensons Mr. Hyde, horrors have deeper concepts to them that educate in an allegoric fashion. Human nature has always presented a natural love for fantastic stories, and many elders use these parables to disarm listeners and scare the message into them. In IshirЕЌ Honda s original movie, Godzilla: King of the Monsters , destruction of major cities represents how humans should exercise caution with great power. Last but not least is the service received, now the service received is the end result of the customers overall experience in particular the emotions that they then feel towards this posing the question if they were satisfied with the service provide and lastly was it good value for the money that they ended up paying for it.
