6.3 Amyloid Theory
6.3 Amyloid theory The most commonly supported hypothesis for the cause of AD relates to a protein
expressed in many cells, of unknown function and implicated in familial AD due to mutations in the
gene that code for it(Wisniewski, Wisniewski Wen 1985). Although its function is not completely
understood, amyloid precursor protein (APP) is suggested to be critical for neuron growth(Turner et
al. 2003, Vasto et al. 2008, Priller et al. 2006), signalling, and may also function as an
antioxidant(Crouch 2007) and a metalloprotein, modulating copper transport and metabolism(Turner
et al. 2003, Priller et al. 2006, Kong et al. 2007). The parent protein, the 695 770 amino acid APP, in
most cell types undergoes the non amyloidogenic pathway. Cleavage of the APP protein can occur at
many sites within the cell, including the trans Golgi network, ... Show more content on

The amyloidogenic version of the pathway involves cleavage by secretase followed by the secretase
(see figure 6), releasing the 40 43 amino acid amyloid beta (A) peptide, thought to cause the
neurodegenerative disease(Selkoe 2001, Findeis 2007). The enzymatic action of secretase leaves a C
terminal fragment known as APP CTF or
C99, within the membrane and releases APPs into the extracellular space. After A peptide generation
by secretase from the C99 fragment, the A peptide is extracellularly secreted(Rogaeva et al. 2007).
Most of the A peptides produced are 40 amino acids long, however it is thought in the diseased state
the usual 10% of A peptide production increases, causing havoc within the cell and the surrounding
environment(Vasto et al. 2008). This longer form
(A

) is more hydrophobic and fibrillates more easily, and is also controversially thought to be more
neurotoxic than the A peptide(Selkoe 2001, Findeis

Compare And Contrast Male And Female Relationships In The...
Relationships in the 1800 s are very different from a typical relationship in the present day. In the
1800 s, when a male and female came together to form a relationship, the male was always superior to
the female. During that time, the formation of a relationship gave the male utter control over his
partner. Nora and Torvalds relationship was established during a time where all women accepted their
fate of being inferior to males. Since then, women have been challenging that stereotype and
demanding equality. One of the prominent difference between a typical relationship now and Nora and
Torvalds s relationship is equality. In a typical relationship now, the man and female are partners and
share equal responsibilities within their home. Today, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It seems that for most of Nora s life she s been under the thumb of a man. Another noticeable
difference that bounces off equality is the inability of Nora to work or do as she pleased. In a typical
relationship now, it is expected that both the male and female work to provide for their family, as
today s society has adapted to allowing the male to not feel a constant pressure to provide as the
responsibility is shared. In the present, research shows that more and more men are becoming stay at
home husbands, working from home and raising their children at the same time. A man that stayed at
home whilst the woman worked was unheard of during the time of Nora s and Torvalds relationship.
Whereas during the time of Nora and Torvalds s relationship, it was expected that the female took care
of all the home keeping, whilst the male worked to support the family. Unlike a typical relationship in
the present day, Nora had to go behind her husband s back to work. In the novel, she mentions how
she found work to do that occupied her late until night, even when tired she would work as it gave her
pleasure to sit there working and earning

Impacts of Accountability and Data Driven Models for Special Education Teachers and Students
Teachers, services provisions, and accountability have impacted special education in similar and
different ways. In my paper I will look at the impact each area has on the students, parents, and the
teachers. There are links from all three topics to the NCLB act, which has had some recent changes. I

c) Formal Analysis
First Movement
Although a typical first movement form has features that are very close to a sonata form, the analysis
shown in Appendix traces through the keys and theme areas with respect to the necessary T1, S1 etc
terminology that invokes the 1st movement form which is an extended version of a da capo aria or a
rounded binary form. However, presented below, is a rough guideline for seeing which measures
would correspond to a sonata form outline:
T1 S1 T2: 1 111 227
Exposition
S2: 249
Development
(288 308 as re transition)
T3 S3 T4 (first section up to the cadence): 309 318 403
Recapitulation
(Cadenza)
T4: 417
Coda
Theme wise, the first movement is mostly bases itself on the opposition of two themes, one military in
character (denoted hereafter by a and its variants a1, a2 a3 etc)
and another lyrical theme, (denoted hereafter by b). It is clear when one looks at the outline of the
themes with respect to their placement, theme a is transformed into 8 different versions throughout the
composition s first movement, and an additional type, that we will call (a) which utilizes C G C G C
timpani like motive. This one, namely (a) and a derivative called a6 will play primary roles in
identifying and linking structurally important keys and harmonic motions related to changes into
different subsections (eg. Timpani theme appears from 288 295 into T3/S3 on minor v,

Pop Art In The 1960s
Years following World War II, the United States enjoyed an unprecedented period of economic and
political growth. The Vietnam War incited mass protests, the Civil Rights Movement sought equality
for African Americans, and the women s liberation movement gained momentum. Entertainment
stepped into the new level with the monumental super stars such as Elis Presley led the emergence of
Rock and Roll, Marilyn Monroe was a reigning film star, and television replaced radio as the
dominant media outlet. Yet by the late 1950s and early 1960s, a cultural revolution was underway, led
by activists, thinkers, and artists who sought to rethink and even overturn what was, in their eyes, a
stifling social order ruled by conformity. Following the transformation to popular of the world, the
new art movement had occurred, Pop Art. Pop artists began to look for inspiration in the world around
them, representing and, at times, making art directly from everyday items, consumer goods, and mass
media. When it emerged in the 1960s, Pop art was not just about bold colors and celebrity culture; it
brought the popular world from cartoons and advertising to apples and bananas into the realm of high
art, turning taste on its head in the process. It was in this climate of turbulence, experimentation, and
consumerism that a new generation of artists emerged in Britain and America in the mid to late 1950s.
They did this in a straightforward manner, using bold swaths of primary colors, often

German Culture Vs American Culture Essay
Coming from a German culture, my family stays traditional in the way we celebrate holidays and eat
food. The differences between German and American culture are very evident in their holiday
traditions and meals, but there are also some similarities, such as language, that are often overlooked.
When I think of the differences between German and American culture, one of the first things that
comes to mind is how Christmas is celebrated. In Germany, it is always celebrated on Christmas Eve.
Instead of Santa, children are told that if they behave well, Kris Kringle or Christkindl , meaning
Christ Child, will leave presents for them under the tree. While waiting for the presents to come, the

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is something that has plagued the military for years. Coined as Shell
Shock during World War I, symptoms included fatigue, tremor, confusion, nightmares and impaired
sight and hearing (Dr. Edward Jones 2012, 2). Very similar to the modern PTSD victim, these
symptoms can quickly turn life altering. Many things can strike a PTSD flashback, an unexpected loud
noise, and a familiar smell, pent up stress, even something such as driving down the road. According
to the Department of Veterans Affairs, over 1.8 million men and women have deployed in support of
the War on Terror, and since it s begging, over 300,000 service members have been treated for Post
Traumatic Stress. This totals approximately 18% of all returning veterans. As shocking as this number
is, this only reflects the amount of veterans that have sought treatment. Many more turn to other
sources to deal with their problems. Substance Abuse is a very real problem within the Armed Forces.
Whether it be alcohol, prescription pills (legally obtained or illegally), or tobacco, they have made
their way inside the ranks. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration records show
that more than 11% of all Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom veterans suffer
from a Substance Use Disorder (4). Once again, these records only reflect how many service members
have admitted they have a substance abuse problem. Many service members

Grooming CFOs to be CEOs
CFO as CEO Introduction Given the increasing complexity of business and the need to financially
quantify risk and opportunities so options are clearly understood while also operating in uncertainty,
the progression of CFOs to CEOs will continue to accelerate. Reviewing the two articles How a CFO
can graduate to CEO (Brewis, 1999) and Do CFOs really make good CEOs (Picker, 1989) illustrate
foundational points to support the contention that CFOs will continue to be promoted and excel in
their roles as CEOs. How CFOs are Prepared to become CEOs One of the most interesting articles in
the series read to complete this analysis is Do CFOs really make good CEOs (Picker, 1989). This
article highlights how critical it is for a CFO to understand the organizational structure of their
business, while also understanding how best to create a teamwork framework that can enable the
accomplishment of complex objectives (Picker, 1989). This article shows how D. Wayne Calloway
was able to save PepsiCo as a business by having in depth knowledge of operations and the financial
trade offs critical to keeping them operating. He also was able to transform many of the most costly
operations in the company while reducing investments in fixed assets (Picker, 1989). The article also
points to how well Robert Crandall interpreted the impact of deregulation on the airline industry,
while also making the transition from CFO to CEO. Robert Crandall was one of the most effective

United States Immigration Policy Analysis
America has the largest illegal immigrant population in the world. As a country we are not doing
much to stop it. According to the Pew Research Center, there were approximately 5.7 million
undocumented immigrants living in the U.S. in 1995. As of 2014, there are around 11.3 million living
in America. Immigration is vital to this country. Unless you are 100% full blooded native, somewhere
down your family s history you immigrated to this county. It is evident that something needs to be
done to fix our immigration system, but what? Strengthening our borders, and deporting illegal
immigrants are not long term solutions to the United States problem. By passing legislation and

The Court Of A Public Telephone Booth
On the date of February 4th, 1965, believing that the Petitioner had been using public pay phones to
transmit illegal gambling wagers from Los Angeles to Miami and Boston, the Federal Bureau of
Investigation began their surveillance into the life of the Petitioner, Charles Katz. Fifteen days later on
February 19th, 1965 FBI agents working the case against the Petitioner had gained access to a phone
booth within a set of phone booths that the petitioner frequented on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles,
and summarily recorded the petitioner s side of conversations he was having on the phone within a
booth nearby. This surveillance lasted until the 25th (excluding February 22, as no evidence was
obtained due to technical difficulties) the date of the petitioner s arrest, which took place immediately
after he exited the same set of phone booths (Brief for Respondent 3). In this case there are two major
constitutional questions which need to be addressed: (1) whether evidence obtained by attaching an
electronic listening and recording device to the top of a public telephone booth used and occupied by
the Petitioner is gathered in violation of the Fourth Amendment, and (2) whether the search warrant
used by the FBI officers in this case violated the Fourth Amendment to the constitution in that the
warrant was (a) not founded on probable cause; (b) an evidentiary search warrant and (c) a general
search warrant. While the Petitioner would like the answer to be yes in both cases,

Claude Mckay s Life During The Harlem Renaissance
During The Harlem Renaissance, artists and writers of the time period would express themselves
through the experiences that they gain from the streets of Harlem. Claude McKay s writings from the
Harlem Renaissance demonstrates life during that time period by showing the Renaissance as defined,
and defied the boundaries of The Harlem Renaissance.
On September 15, 1889, Festus Claudius McKay was born in Sunny Ville Jamaica. His father was
Thomas Francis McKay, and his mother was Hannah Ann Elizabeth Edwards. His parents embraced
their Malagasy and Ashanti heritage and taught Claude at a young age to embrace his African pride.

Vaccine For The West Nile Virus
Herd immunity is the form of immunity that directly occurs as a result of individuals who are
vaccinated versus those who are not. In a given naive population, the west nile virus can spread
randomly throughout individuals, with the contact of each other only accelerating the spread. In a
population where half has randomly received some form of vaccination, certain barriers between those
that are vaccinated can protect specific individuals who have not been vaccinated against the spread of
the virus (Vaccines Today, 2015). In all, the percentage of infected individuals is much less in a
somewhat vaccinated population than in an entirely naive population. Herd immunity can develop in
the initial stages of the use of the west nile virus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The amount of people in a given population that would need vaccine immunization in order to achieve
herd immunity with the west nile virus would vary within given populations and location most
importantly, as the virus itself is more prevalent in certain parts of the world . The idea itself of a
population that could receive vaccinations to protect individuals and to protect even more vulnerable
members of their communities by reducing the spread of the disease enough to further the
development of the west nile virus, which can so easily affect any individual prone to some form of
interaction with mosquitos.
The vaccination process would not be a simple administered injection because of the underlying fact
that each mosquito can potentially transmit a different type of west nile virus lineage. The vaccine
would have to be specific to that west nile virus lineage, as transmitted per mosquito. In the ideal
clinic, a blood sample of an infected individual would be collected and analyzed for the formation of
antibodies against the specific virus lineage. This would ensure that that the correct virus lineage
would be targeted in the vaccine. The proteins to be further administered with the west nile vaccine
would originate from a serum sample collected afterwards with the specific virus strain. Multiple
intravenous and intradermal injections of the plasmid DNA proposed vaccine

The Gender Wage Gap In Film And Television

Gender Wage Gap in Film and Television
The gender wage gap and glass escalator are worldwide problems that permeate through a multitude
of occupations, and no industry perpetuates these more blatantly than film and television. The gender
wage gap is the continual disparity between the average salary of a male worker and the average
salary of a female worker with the same or similar jobs or ranking of job. The glass escalator refers to
the idea that women and minorities progress up the hierarchical ladder in their job fields slower than
men do. In the film and television industry, the gender wage gap and glass escalator can be seen most
prominently between actors and actresses in both leading and supporting roles; however, this gap can
also be seen between male and female directors. It is also not limited to just one country or continent,
spanning across both North America and Europe. Actresses and female directors across the globe
deserve to be compensated as much as the actors and male directors they work with because it benefits
the industry financially and creatively.
Across many American industries, the gender wage gap has been proven to be a major financial issue.
There is no clear and concrete reason for its existence, but researchers have found that lowered
perceived competence and commitment to the job, lack of negotiation, and general employer sexism
all contribute to the prolongation of the

The Modest Proposal By Jonathan Swift
Ireland in 1729 was a dark and horrific time period for all civilians. Extreme poverty surrounded the
country along with overpopulation. Satirist, Jonathan Swift was sincere with his proposal, and
continued to approach the problem with creating a solution he thought seemed fit. To begin, he
recognized the concern of poverty, the future of young children, and accomplished his proposal on
how to decrease the population, backing up his idea with statistics and reason. As Swift saw the
melancholy everyday while walking the streets, The amount of poverty in Ireland were at their worst.
The streets, crowded with female beggars, followed by five or six children, all in rags, and
importuning every passenger for an alms (P1). Due to the children burdening their mothers, this
restricted the parents to find an honest living, forcing them into this lifestyle. Using statistics to
explain further how serious this problem was. To acquire this information, Swift did a census to
calculate the population, which proceeded to research more saying there was thirty thousand couples

Inventory Systems Paper
Inventory Systems Summary
Inventory control systems are used so that companies can track materials or products. Before
technology was so readily available, employees of companies had a harder time tracking inventory.
Today one can go into a large retailer and ask an employee to check if an item is in stock and all the
employee would have to do is check a little hand held device. The four types of inventory systems that
Team A decided to research and discuss were: Advanced Tracking System (ATS), Perpetual Inventory
System, Periodic Inventory System, and Just In Time Inventory System.
Advanced Tracking System (ATS)
Advanced Tracking System, or ATS, is a system that operates standalone or front end that interfaces
with almost any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also well suited for the type of industries where there isn t much processing to do, so the
inventory exists at only one level (for sale) rather than at three levels (raw materials, work in progress
and for sale) (Kulkarni, 2010).
Periodic Inventory System A periodic inventory control is a system with no continuous record of
changes. Inventory is only tracked periodically instead of per the transaction. At the end of a specific
period, usually an accounting period; quarterly or monthly, the ending inventory is found by a physical
count. The cost of each item is computed and deducted from the sum of purchases and the beginning
of the inventory to calculate cost of goods sold (Business Dictionary, 2010). The periodic inventory
system keeps the inventory balance at the same value that it was at the beginning of the period. The
inventory level is not updated after purchases, for accounting purposes; this system uses an account
called purchases at the end of the period, rather than debiting inventory.
Just In Time (JIT) Inventory System
Just In Time inventory system known as JIT is one of inventory systems used in companies to deliver
a finished product to customers quickly to reduce the overall ordering and inventory holding cost
(Atkinson, 2005). The system proves to be most effective for companies that lose money for holding a
product in its inventory for an extended period of time and

Jesus And Hahnukkah Research Paper
Jesus and Hanukkah
Yeshua, (Jesus) did not spend a lot of time in Jerusalem. Most of His ministry is recorded to be around
Galilee. He would have made His pilgrimage to Jerusalem on the following appointed feast days:
Pesach or Passover
Shavuot or Pentecost
Yom Kippur or The Day of Atonement
Rosh Hashanah, Yom Teruah or Jewish New Year
The Feast of Trumpets
Sukkot or The Feast of Tabernacles.
He is however found in Jerusalem on the 25th of Kislev. Kislev is the ninth month on the Biblical

The Jews surrounded Him and wanted Him to identify Himself as the Messiah. He more or less told
them that He had already done that, but they did not believe Him anyway.
It was here in Solomon s porch that Jesus had identified Himself as the Light of the World at another
time. Jesus is indeed the Shamash, our servant, the eternal light that sheds light in a world of darkness.
Unfortunately, He was not welcome there in the Temple and they began to stone him for what they
perceived to be blasphemy.
What is the lesson of Hanukkah that we can learn for today? As our world becomes darker and darker,
and the laws of our land have become in direct opposition to the laws of God, we need to guard
against assimilation into this world s system. We like the Maccabee s need to stand up against
unrighteousness, even to the point of losing our lives if necessary.
Even when the odds are against us, if we are on Gods side then we have a majority. The Holy things of

from you the treasure that is hidden there. They can take your life, but your light is

The Importance Of Environmental Consciousness
In recent days, certainly, the term environmental consciousness is one of the most utilized in various
degrees in our society. It being in a conference of international leaders or a local neighborhood
meeting, the matter of being environmentally and ecologically conscient became a mandatory
measure. In a general sense, being conscious towards environmental issues is described as the ability
to comprehend the environment one habits in, the actions and relationships among it, and the impacts
the caused by a short or long term. Such consciousness is only felt as complete once the perception
that such actions are much greater than a local, it impacts the planet and the environment in question.
In order to diminish the human environmental impact, we need to rethink our actions and its possible
consequences.
Additionally, another aspect of acquiring such consciousness is the search for information. After all,
awareness and knowledge are subjects profoundly interrelated. For instance, in recent days it is
brought to the fact that cars are released pollutant gases, as industries.Yet that the most developed and
consumerist countries are the ones that release most pollutant gases that contribute to the greenhouse
effect. The understanding that the amount of waste produced is also a major issue and it produces
affects the environmental balance.
However, being aware of such knowledge does not mean being environmentally conscious. Such can
have minimal utility when not transformed

Mentoring
Mentorship Module
In this essay I aim to reflect and critically analyse my completion of the learning development plan
and to identify how the skills and knowledge that I have gained as a mentor will enable me to lead
learning in my area of practice. I will be using the What model of reflection (Driscoll 2000)
throughout this essay.
What? As part of the mentorship module I was required to complete a Learning Development Plan
(LDP). Part of the LDP involved writing a lesson plan which was then taught to a student under the
supervision of my mentor. A copy of the lesson plan can be found within the LDP. An assessment plan
was then used to evaluate the learning that had taken place and to assess the competency of the

It makes sense, therefore, that before we explore how we teach, we understand how people learn .
From discussion with my student prior to the lesson I learnt that she too had a more activist learning
style and I felt that this match would provide a more harmonious learning environment between
myself and the student. Whilst there is validity in attempting to match teaching styles with learning
styles (Quinn amp; Hughes 2007) there is also research to show that by moving the student outside of
their dominant learning style will stimulate learning and the challenge will promote more creative
learning (Tennant 1997 and Partridge 1983).
I was aware of my student s dominant learning style and my lesson on Intubation was a practical one
which would be more suited to her, however, I felt that in order to teach the subject effectively, the
lesson in part would have to have a theoretical approach in order to cover the aspects of airway
anatomy and physiology, rationale for intubation and the hazards, precautions and complications of
the procedure. Once I had completed my lesson plan, I was concerned that it was weighted far more to
a reflector or theorist style of learning and that my student would become bored and de motivated.
This is also argued by Gopee (2008) who states that the mentor should endeavour to develop
awareness of their mentee s learning style to see if they can adapt to them to make their teaching more
effective . Gopee

America Has Benefited The Field Of Education
Teach for America has benefited the field of education. Teach for America provides an education for
children in low income communities by recruiting a diverse group of members who desire to expand
their educational opportunities. The program provides an intense training, support and career
development to assist members in increasing their impact and deepen their understanding of what it
takes to provide an excellent education for students. Teach for America has also produced members
that now work at various levels of education, policy, and other professions, to ensure all children
receive an excellent education (Teach for America, 2012). Teach for America has had its share of
controversies. The organization has placed TFA corps members into positions previously held by
veteran teachers. Some districts are laying off veteran teachers and replacing them with TFA to ease
budget issues. The practice of laying off veteran teachers and replacing them with TFA has been
reported in Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, and Washington, D.C. (Heilig Jez, 2010). Veteran
teachers are having to compete with Teach for America recruits for teaching positions despite their
lengthier training because TFA recruits are cheaper than teachers with experience or advanced degrees
(Hootnick, 2014). Another controversial issue surrounding Teach for America is the placement of its
core members. All of the state s TFA teachers are placed based upon teacher shortages by subject area.

Achilles
During the Illiad, Achilles is seen as a man of strength and virtue while being regarded as the best
Greek warrior of the Trojan War. While Achilles seems to have no weakness within him or inside him,
his heel is the only body part that is not completely protected and his ill temper seems to be a downfall
of this great fighter. Encompassed by his many great outward qualities, the actions of a man from his
inside shows what his true character is. Among his true inner characteristics, the main ones that show
in the play are his pride, his unpredictability, and his rage. Achilles demonstrates his pride in many
different situations throughout the Illiad. The first example can be seen in the beginning of the story
when Achilles war prize, Briseis, is taken away from him. His pride is hurt not only because of the
taking away of a woman he is fond of, but his pride takes a hit because of Agamemnon embarrassing
him in front of the other warriors which leads to Achilles withdrawing himself from the Greek army.
Without the greater warrior in the Greek army, Agamemnon swallows his pride and offers Achilles
three gifts. Shortly after, the pride of this great warrior is shown when he rejects the gifts of
Agamemnon because of the damage done in the beginning of the ... Show more content on

Rage is a key component that is paramount throughout the Greek epic shown through the warrior. For
example, the death of Patroclus becomes a burden to avenge in the heart of his protector, Achilles.
Through many battles, Achilles shows his rage at the hands of many deaths of mortals, including
Hector. Achilles rage is directed toward all the Trojan army as he tries to deny the burial rights of their
leader for their wrongdoings toward his friend. His anger makes Achilles who he is and makes him the
fighter that is respected, but his rage sometimes blinds him to some of the more important things in

Admittedly as an outdoorsman, it is hard to distance myself emotionally or sentimentally from any
hypothetical scenario of being able to invest in Cabela s. I will also admit that I am not overly
concerned with the SEC investigation, as many similar investigations were launched during the
current political administration into conservative business organizations. Cabela s is also bringing in
new leadership, as they recently announced in February of this year with an 8 K form filing
(Economics Week, 2016) that Scott Williams has been appointed as president of the organization. Mr.
Williams has previous experience with Wal Mart and Sam s Club, as well as Fanatics (Castner, 2016),

From the 1920 s up until his death Joseph Stalin was the leader of Russia. What ensued under Stalin s

lived in constant fear because of an epidemic within their own country, genocide of Stalin s own
people by Stalin himself. From 1934 up until 1939 a period of mass fear swept over Russia and at the

of him also had to praise him; Stalin s grasp over Russia was so strong that wherever you were his

Strengths Of The Immune System And Ayurveda
Immune system and Ayurveda
What is Immune system:
The immune system is made up of a network of cells, tissues, and organs that work together to protect
the body. One of the important cells involved are white blood cells, also called leukocytes, which
come in two basic types that combine to seek out and destroy disease causing organisms or
substances.
What cause immune system to weaken:
Anything that weakens your immune system can lead to a secondary immunodeficiency disorder. Low
consumption of protein in your diet can weaken your immune system. Your body also produces
proteins when you sleep that help your body fight infection. For this reason, lack of sleep reduces your
immune defenses. There are several other factors too which cause the weakness of immune system.

The Concept Of Time In Roberto Bolano s Amulet
Time is a wonderful part of the world and our lives. Time allows us to learn, grow, make memories,
feel emotions, teach, and meet new people, just to name a few. Sometimes, we may not think we have
enough time for our various goals because of numerous distractions. The concept of time can be hard
to understand because it is a cycle but something we cannot return or get back. In Amulet, time plays a
large factor in the way that Auxilio tells her story.
The character Auxilio in the book Amulet, is a unique character who is engulfed in the writing and
poetry of Mexico. She calls herself the mother of poetry because of all the ties she has with the
various artists in Mexico including Arturo Belano (Roberto Bolano s alter ego in the book). Amulet
describes her experiences with these artists over the course of the book as she tries to find herself ,
find her meaning in life. Time plays a very large role in how she depicts this story and how she
describes her relationships with these writers. The unit of time is a part of the setting in the story. It
helps describe the era and provides context for the reader. Setting is very important to a good story,
therefore so is time. Roberto Bolano understood this, which is why he uses the word time , in multiple
variations, 175 times over the course of Amulet. Here are some examples of how Bolano uses the term
in the book with Auxilio. At one point Auxilio says, Let me stretch time out like a plastic surgeon

A Brief Note On The First Time Or Recreational Paddler
For the first time or recreational paddler there is perhaps nothing scarier than having your canoe or
kayak capsize. Sometimes it is caused by the incautious tilting their boat a little further than it is meant
to go, but very often it is caused be a force beyond your control. Waves or wake caused by wind,
swell, or boats very often lead to a capsized boat and possibly a paddler in distress. There are a few
techniques to help prevent this so you can enjoy your day on the water. Boat position or angle is a very
important factor in whether you will be knocked over or the wake will roll passed you. When a wake

In a canoe you have the ability to lower your center of gravity by dropping from your seat and
kneeling on the floor. These techniques will help your paddling abilities and give you an enjoyable
experience on the water rather than a terrifying one. It is also important to plan ahead and be cautious
of where you travel to avoid large waves and wake all together. Make sure to get a weather report. As
a novice paddler it is also important to avoid heavily trafficked boat channels. On windy days paddle
in sheltered coves and creeks, and always where a life jacket.
It s amazing to think that what started as a functional and vital form of transportation, is today one of
the world s most popular water sports and an Olympic activity. But that s exactly how canoeing and
kayaking has evolved. Ms that a canoe in your pocket or are you simply pleased to see me? No, it s a

kayak has a closed deck (apart from the hole you sit in) and is powered using a double bladed paddle.
A canoe, on the other hand, is an open boat in which you can either stand up or kneel, and is powered
using a single bladed paddle. Many people use the term canoeing to describe the general sport, not to
define what type of boat is used, so that s what we ll do here. Canoeing s popularity is probably due to
the huge range of activities available within the sport. It caters for

Finding Nemo
Finding Nemo has a lot of hidden meaning in the story. Most people can interpret stories in different
ways than others, especially children. I interpret that, in Finding Nemo, Marlin not only wants what is
best for Nemo, but what is best for the both of them. Don t be stubborn and not listen to your parents
because they always know what s best for you. I think Marlin s definition of what s best for them is a
little different than most. He wants to rebuild their colony by repopulating. As a child I viewed this as
just a regular movie, like every child would. No kid is going to know the reproductive process of
clown fish. I used to think that it was about friendship between Nemo and Dory, and that if you re in
times of need, there will always be a friend that will help you, no matter where you are. It was my
favorite movie due to these reasons: it made me happy that Nemo wasn t going through it alone.
Everyone views things differently.
Most people interpret Finding Nemo in a whole entirely different way. It is meant to be portrayed as
expressing the type of things a father would go through to save his son. The theme of this movie is to
not be stubborn and listen because your parents always know what s best for you. Most people would
picture it this way, but there is an entirely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In Should Gamers Be prosecuted for Virtual Stealing? by Alex Weiss, the author attempts to argue
against a Dutch jury s decision on a case involving virtual theft. The essay discusses a Dutch court
case involving a thirteen year old who stole something from another person inside of a video game.
The author then proceeds into telling readers about stories from a game called EVE. He talks about the
value that the time is worth and his past experiences in EVE. I have found that the author was unable
to write an effective argument. The author showed weak pathos, bad ethos, and crude logos. The
author s pathos was weak in the sense that there was so little of it. He told a story of how he was once

Victim Impact Statement Pros And Cons
Victim Impact statements (VIS) give the person or family the chance to state how they feel about the
offender and the acts that they committed. VIS can challenge the 8th amendment; however it helps the
jury to make a decision on if the person should get life or the death penalty. Most victim statements
are not all negative. The victim gets the chance to let the accused understand the hurt that they cause
the family or them. Consequently depending on the criminal they may or may not care. The writer will
report on what they believe to be the purpose and reasoning behind victim and execution impact
statements. The question is why is there so much controversy surrounding the use of victim impact
statements during trial? The writer will address the issues that make some think VIS should or it
should not be admitted in the court. The pros and cons of VIS will be demonstrated with sources to

Principle Of The Hygiene Hypothesis
Evan Gaglione Sept 10, 2017 Hygiene Hypothesis Bio 220 The hygiene hypothesis is an educated
guess that states a lack of early childhood exposure to infectious agents, microorganisms, bacteria,
virus, and parasites increases weakness to allergic infections, according to the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA). In particular, the lack of exposure to these infections is thought to lead to
defects in the growth of immune tolerance. According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), the
decreasing occurrence of infections in Western nations and more recently in developing nations is at
the heart of the decreasing incidence of both autoimmune and allergic diseases. The hygiene
hypothesis is at both based upon epidemiological data, particularly migration studies. Display that test
subjects migrating from a low incidence for autoimmune and allergic disease to a high incidence
nation acquire the immune disorders with a high incidence. However, the data started showing a
correlation between high disease frequency and high social financial status, but it doesn t prove a
perfect link between infections and immune disorders. The principle of the hygiene hypothesis maybe
be connected to animals but of lesser degree but over generations and generations the autoimmune and
allergic disease get more intense. These autoimmune and allergic disorders affect homeostatic factors
and immune regulation, by decreasing the involving T cell subsets and Toll like receptor stimulation.

Robert Frost s The Tuft Of Flowers And After Apple Picking
Intense and meaningful discoveries are often not anticipated, instead being sudden and unexpected.
The potential catalysts for discoveries are often unforeseen, resulting in unpredictable, confronting,
and challenging discoveries and ramifications. These outlooks are exemplified in Robert Frosts s
poetry works, The Tuft of Flowers , and After Apple Picking , and are also demonstrated in the
Challenger Disaster Speech delivered by Ronald Reagan to the USA in 1986. We see in both these
texts the potential complex ramifications brought forward by unexpected discovery upon an
individual. Robert Frost s works explore the unexpected nature of discovery and its catalysts, the
complex outcomes they bring forth, and the profound impact of discoveries upon a person. As seen in
the dramatic monologue The Tuft of Flowers , the persona is shown to be a farm worker, who goes to
a field after the mower to turn the grass. Together, the shared jobs come together to work as a larger
agricultural process, but the workers do their jobs individually. In the beginning of the poem, the
persona muses on the absence of the other worker, first Looking for him behind an isle of trees; then
Listening for his whetstone on the breeze . The persona seeks the company of the worker, but then
comes to the conclusion; And I must be, as he had been, alone . The hyphen within this line is used as
a caesura to highlight the loneliness of the worker. Due to this observation, the narrator states in a
resigned tone All as must be, I said within my heart, Whether they work together or apart . The use of
interior monologue, by the persona speaking within his heart highlights his isolation and brings forth
the first discovery of the poem, the worker is doing his job alone. The worker s search for company is
then mirrored in the appearance of a bewildered butterfly , seeking the flowers of yesterday. The
seemingly insignificant occurrence of a butterfly flying past the worker becomes important as it acts
as a catalyst for the key meaningful discovery of the poem. The butterfly searching for a flower to
land upon draws the attention of the persona to a tuft of flowers, purposefully untouched by the scythe
of the mower, in an act of

Emotional Intelligence And Professional Success
Emotional Intelligence in Nursing
Introduction
Emotional Intelligence 2.0 brings about the idea that the more someone is aware of their own
emotions and other peoples emotions they will have a significant increase in personal and professional
success by applying strategies from the four core emotional intelligence skills: self awareness, self
management, social awareness, and relationship management. The idea of emotional intelligence was
first proposed in 1964 and since then other physiologists have added their insights and broken it down
into four to five different categories. Emotional intelligence (EQ) was recently defined as one s ability
to recognize own emotions and other people s emotions and applying this understanding to manage
your behavior and relationships (Bradberry Greaves, 2009). With application to the nursing world,
having high EQ knowledge will improve roles and functions of nursing, teach fellow coworkers
techniques to lead, and help individuals grow in identifying emotions and further understanding one s
self.
History of EQ Micheal Beldoch first introduced the idea of EQ in 1964, in Sensitivity to Expression of
Emotional Meaning in Three Modes of Communication, a paper that examined three modes of
communication: vocal, musical and graphic, to identify non verbal emotional expressions (Beldoch,
1964). It was hypothesized that, like intelligence, emotional sensitivity might be characterized by a
general factor which operated in a variety of media,

Summary Of The Yellow Wall-Paper
To be effective means to be successful in producing a desired or intended result. According to
Aristotle, the most effective way to construct the plot of a story is to have a clear beginning, middle,
and end with certain aspects included between each major part to form a complex plot. In the short
story The Yellow Wall Paper , the author, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, follows Aristotle s schema for
constructing an effective plot by drawing the readers emotionally to the characters; including reversal,
recognition, and suffering; and having a complex plot. Charlotte Perkins Gilman emotionally draws
readers to the characters in The Yellow Wall Paper. The unnamed protagonist of the story persuades
readers to pity and empathize with her from the beginning of the story when she talks about her
husband/physician, John, and her depression. She talks about how John is helping her by putting her
on rest cure and keeping her locked in a room with no stimulation from the outside world when she
says, I get unreasonably angry with John sometimes. I m not sure I never used to be so sensitive. I
think it is due to this nervous condition (Gilman 315). When she describes her husband and blames
her sensitivity on her condition, it is hard to read because everyone else can see that she should be
angry with John and he is the main reason that she is in the mental state that she is in. What she
characterized as help from her husband is clearly seen by the audience as harmful and

It was an event that changed the course of socialism on a global scale. It was the unfortunate result of

Cuban Revolution, which began in 1953 and ended in 1961, was led by revolutionist Fidel Castro and

Cuba and setting up a communist party, Castro began a set of land reforms and nationalized all foreign

Fernando becomes worried when the government announced that citizens can no longer have any
holdings... Look at this. Me, a banker, hiding money underneath my home because I can t trust my
own bank... [not only are] we limited to how much money we can legally have, we can t even own

many people s earnings, there is no accountability that money was hid underneath the floorboards of
many homes to prevent the wealth from being distributed. Fernando s character is a metaphor for the
working class, who were nervous that they would give up the savings that they rightfully earned
through their labor. By introducing Fernando as the voice of capitalism , the change and continuity
element of the book becomes present. It takes literary elements and archetypes and combines them
with the perspective of those living during the Cuban revolution, creating characters that insinuate
different aspects of the revolution as a whole.
The Communist Revolution of Cuba didn t just impact the working class, but rather also affected the

  • 2. 6.3 Amyloid Theory 6.3 Amyloid theory The most commonly supported hypothesis for the cause of AD relates to a protein expressed in many cells, of unknown function and implicated in familial AD due to mutations in the gene that code for it(Wisniewski, Wisniewski Wen 1985). Although its function is not completely understood, amyloid precursor protein (APP) is suggested to be critical for neuron growth(Turner et al. 2003, Vasto et al. 2008, Priller et al. 2006), signalling, and may also function as an antioxidant(Crouch 2007) and a metalloprotein, modulating copper transport and metabolism(Turner et al. 2003, Priller et al. 2006, Kong et al. 2007). The parent protein, the 695 770 amino acid APP, in most cell types undergoes the non amyloidogenic pathway. Cleavage of the APP protein can occur at many sites within the cell, including the trans Golgi network, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The amyloidogenic version of the pathway involves cleavage by secretase followed by the secretase (see figure 6), releasing the 40 43 amino acid amyloid beta (A) peptide, thought to cause the neurodegenerative disease(Selkoe 2001, Findeis 2007). The enzymatic action of secretase leaves a C terminal fragment known as APP CTF or C99, within the membrane and releases APPs into the extracellular space. After A peptide generation by secretase from the C99 fragment, the A peptide is extracellularly secreted(Rogaeva et al. 2007). Most of the A peptides produced are 40 amino acids long, however it is thought in the diseased state the usual 10% of A peptide production increases, causing havoc within the cell and the surrounding environment(Vasto et al. 2008). This longer form (A 42 42 ) is more hydrophobic and fibrillates more easily, and is also controversially thought to be more neurotoxic than the A peptide(Selkoe 2001, Findeis ... • 3. Compare And Contrast Male And Female Relationships In The... Relationships in the 1800 s are very different from a typical relationship in the present day. In the 1800 s, when a male and female came together to form a relationship, the male was always superior to the female. During that time, the formation of a relationship gave the male utter control over his partner. Nora and Torvalds relationship was established during a time where all women accepted their fate of being inferior to males. Since then, women have been challenging that stereotype and demanding equality. One of the prominent difference between a typical relationship now and Nora and Torvalds s relationship is equality. In a typical relationship now, the man and female are partners and share equal responsibilities within their home. Today, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It seems that for most of Nora s life she s been under the thumb of a man. Another noticeable difference that bounces off equality is the inability of Nora to work or do as she pleased. In a typical relationship now, it is expected that both the male and female work to provide for their family, as today s society has adapted to allowing the male to not feel a constant pressure to provide as the responsibility is shared. In the present, research shows that more and more men are becoming stay at home husbands, working from home and raising their children at the same time. A man that stayed at home whilst the woman worked was unheard of during the time of Nora s and Torvalds relationship. Whereas during the time of Nora and Torvalds s relationship, it was expected that the female took care of all the home keeping, whilst the male worked to support the family. Unlike a typical relationship in the present day, Nora had to go behind her husband s back to work. In the novel, she mentions how she found work to do that occupied her late until night, even when tired she would work as it gave her pleasure to sit there working and earning ... A Formal Analysis on Beethoven s Piano Concerto No.3 in C minor , Op. 37 a)The Beethoven Concerto s and Op. 37 s Placement in the Genre and as a continuation of Mozart s Style b)Reception of the concerto specifics of the concerto in a broad view c)Formal and musical analysis with respect to the Concerto Form in the Classical Style (As a precursor of Romantic Age) d)Conclusions a)Beethoven Concertos According to commonly agreed placement of this concerto among others, the way that it still carries features of a classical concerto but with a few innovations that look forward and that will be influential, this concerto is a middle period Beethoven work. However, presented below, is a rough guideline for seeing which measures would correspond to a sonata form outline: T1 S1 T2: 1 111 227 Exposition S2: 249 Development (288 308 as re transition)

T3 S3 T4 (first section up to the cadence): 309 318 403 Recapitulation (Cadenza) T4: 417 Coda Theme wise, the first movement is mostly bases itself on the opposition of two themes, one military in character (denoted hereafter by a and its variants a1, a2 a3 etc) and another lyrical theme, (denoted hereafter by b). • 7. Pop Art In The 1960s Years following World War II, the United States enjoyed an unprecedented period of economic and political growth. The Vietnam War incited mass protests, the Civil Rights Movement sought equality for African Americans, and the women s liberation movement gained momentum. Entertainment stepped into the new level with the monumental super stars such as Elis Presley led the emergence of Rock and Roll, Marilyn Monroe was a reigning film star, and television replaced radio as the dominant media outlet. Yet by the late 1950s and early 1960s, a cultural revolution was underway, led by activists, thinkers, and artists who sought to rethink and even overturn what was, in their eyes, a stifling social order ruled by conformity. Following the transformation to popular of the world, the new art movement had occurred, Pop Art. Pop artists began to look for inspiration in the world around them, representing and, at times, making art directly from everyday items, consumer goods, and mass media. When it emerged in the 1960s, Pop art was not just about bold colors and celebrity culture; it brought the popular world from cartoons and advertising to apples and bananas into the realm of high art, turning taste on its head in the process. It was in this climate of turbulence, experimentation, and consumerism that a new generation of artists emerged in Britain and America in the mid to late 1950s. They did this in a straightforward manner, using bold swaths of primary colors, often ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The differences between German and American culture are very evident in their holiday traditions and meals, but there are also some similarities, such as language, that are often overlooked. When I think of the differences between German and American culture, one of the first things that comes to mind is how Christmas is celebrated. In Germany, it is always celebrated on Christmas Eve. Grooming CFOs to be CEOs CFO as CEO Introduction Given the increasing complexity of business and the need to financially quantify risk and opportunities so options are clearly understood while also operating in uncertainty, the progression of CFOs to CEOs will continue to accelerate. Reviewing the two articles How a CFO can graduate to CEO (Brewis, 1999) and Do CFOs really make good CEOs (Picker, 1989) illustrate foundational points to support the contention that CFOs will continue to be promoted and excel in their roles as CEOs. The Gender Wage Gap In Film And Television Daniel Fare Professor Coffay 902: Gender, Sex, and Science 12 October 2017 Gender Wage Gap in Film and Television The gender wage gap and glass escalator are worldwide problems that permeate through a multitude of occupations, and no industry perpetuates these more blatantly than film and television. The gender wage gap is the continual disparity between the average salary of a male worker and the average salary of a female worker with the same or similar jobs or ranking of job. The glass escalator refers to the idea that women and minorities progress up the hierarchical ladder in their job fields slower than men do. In the film and television industry, the gender wage gap and glass escalator can be seen most prominently between actors and actresses in both leading and supporting roles; however, this gap can also be seen between male and female directors. It is also not limited to just one country or continent, spanning across both North America and Europe. Actresses and female directors across the globe deserve to be compensated as much as the actors and male directors they work with because it benefits the industry financially and creatively. Across many American industries, the gender wage gap has been proven to be a major financial issue. At the end of a specific period, usually an accounting period; quarterly or monthly, the ending inventory is found by a physical count. Whilst there is validity in attempting to match teaching styles with learning styles (Quinn amp; Hughes 2007) there is also research to show that by moving the student outside of their dominant learning style will stimulate learning and the challenge will promote more creative learning (Tennant 1997 and Partridge 1983). Time allows us to learn, grow, make memories, feel emotions, teach, and meet new people, just to name a few. Sometimes, we may not think we have enough time for our various goals because of numerous distractions. The concept of time can be hard to understand because it is a cycle but something we cannot return or get back. In Amulet, time plays a large factor in the way that Auxilio tells her story. The character Auxilio in the book Amulet, is a unique character who is engulfed in the writing and poetry of Mexico. She calls herself the mother of poetry because of all the ties she has with the various artists in Mexico including Arturo Belano (Roberto Bolano s alter ego in the book). Sometimes it is caused by the incautious tilting their boat a little further than it is meant to go, but very often it is caused be a force beyond your control. Waves or wake caused by wind, swell, or boats very often lead to a capsized boat and possibly a paddler in distress. There are a few techniques to help prevent this so you can enjoy your day on the water. It s amazing to think that what started as a functional and vital form of transportation, is today one of the world s most popular water sports and an Olympic activity. But that s exactly how canoeing and kayaking has evolved. Ms that a canoe in your pocket or are you simply pleased to see me? No, it s a kayak... . Many people are confused by the difference between a canoe and kayak. In simple terms, a kayak has a closed deck (apart from the hole you sit in) and is powered using a double bladed paddle. A canoe, on the other hand, is an open boat in which you can either stand up or kneel, and is powered using a single bladed paddle. Many people use the term canoeing to describe the general sport, not to define what type of boat is used, so that s what we ll do here. I interpret that, in Finding Nemo, Marlin not only wants what is best for Nemo, but what is best for the both of them. Don t be stubborn and not listen to your parents because they always know what s best for you. I think Marlin s definition of what s best for them is a little different than most. He wants to rebuild their colony by repopulating. As a child I viewed this as just a regular movie, like every child would. No kid is going to know the reproductive process of clown fish. I used to think that it was about friendship between Nemo and Dory, and that if you re in times of need, there will always be a friend that will help you, no matter where you are. It was my favorite movie due to these reasons: it made me happy that Nemo wasn t going through it alone. Everyone views things differently. Most people interpret Finding Nemo in a whole entirely different way. It is meant to be portrayed as expressing the type of things a father would go through to save his son. The theme of this movie is to not be stubborn and listen because your parents always know what s best for you. Most people would picture it this way, but there is an entirely ... • 34. Virtual Stealing In Should Gamers Be prosecuted for Virtual Stealing? by Alex Weiss, the author attempts to argue against a Dutch jury s decision on a case involving virtual theft. The essay discusses a Dutch court case involving a thirteen year old who stole something from another person inside of a video game. The author then proceeds into telling readers about stories from a game called EVE. He talks about the value that the time is worth and his past experiences in EVE. I have found that the author was unable to write an effective argument. The author showed weak pathos, bad ethos, and crude logos. The author s pathos was weak in the sense that there was so little of it. He told a story of how he was once a thief in EVE and that he has since changed. This could get people inspired to turn over a new leaf. Weiss also stated that Kotaku said that six years of subscriptions to EVE was equivalent to one thousand ... Weiss shows himself to being bias in the fact that he offers no rebuttal to his argument. The author willingly gave up information in his personal story that proves himself to be dishonest and untrustworthy. Weiss stated that he was in an e relationship with someone who thought he was a girl (729). Weiss did use a good source when it comes to his subject. Principle Of The Hygiene Hypothesis Evan Gaglione Sept 10, 2017 Hygiene Hypothesis Bio 220 The hygiene hypothesis is an educated guess that states a lack of early childhood exposure to infectious agents, microorganisms, bacteria, virus, and parasites increases weakness to allergic infections, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In particular, the lack of exposure to these infections is thought to lead to defects in the growth of immune tolerance. According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), the decreasing occurrence of infections in Western nations and more recently in developing nations is at the heart of the decreasing incidence of both autoimmune and allergic diseases. The hygiene hypothesis is at both based upon epidemiological data, particularly migration studies. Display that test subjects migrating from a low incidence for autoimmune and allergic disease to a high incidence nation acquire the immune disorders with a high incidence. However, the data started showing a correlation between high disease frequency and high social financial status, but it doesn t prove a perfect link between infections and immune disorders. • 40. Robert Frost s The Tuft Of Flowers And After Apple Picking Intense and meaningful discoveries are often not anticipated, instead being sudden and unexpected. The potential catalysts for discoveries are often unforeseen, resulting in unpredictable, confronting, and challenging discoveries and ramifications. These outlooks are exemplified in Robert Frosts s poetry works, The Tuft of Flowers , and After Apple Picking , and are also demonstrated in the Challenger Disaster Speech delivered by Ronald Reagan to the USA in 1986. We see in both these texts the potential complex ramifications brought forward by unexpected discovery upon an individual. Robert Frost s works explore the unexpected nature of discovery and its catalysts, the complex outcomes they bring forth, and the profound impact of discoveries upon a person. As seen in the dramatic monologue The Tuft of Flowers , the persona is shown to be a farm worker, who goes to a field after the mower to turn the grass. Together, the shared jobs come together to work as a larger agricultural process, but the workers do their jobs individually. In the beginning of the poem, the persona muses on the absence of the other worker, first Looking for him behind an isle of trees; then Listening for his whetstone on the breeze . The persona seeks the company of the worker, but then comes to the conclusion; And I must be, as he had been, alone . The hyphen within this line is used as a caesura to highlight the loneliness of the worker. Due to this observation, the narrator states in a resigned tone All as must be, I said within my heart, Whether they work together or apart . The use of interior monologue, by the persona speaking within his heart highlights his isolation and brings forth the first discovery of the poem, the worker is doing his job alone. The worker s search for company is then mirrored in the appearance of a bewildered butterfly , seeking the flowers of yesterday. The seemingly insignificant occurrence of a butterfly flying past the worker becomes important as it acts as a catalyst for the key meaningful discovery of the poem. The butterfly searching for a flower to land upon draws the attention of the persona to a tuft of flowers, purposefully untouched by the scythe of the mower, in an act of ... • 41. Emotional Intelligence And Professional Success Emotional Intelligence in Nursing Introduction Emotional Intelligence 2.0 brings about the idea that the more someone is aware of their own emotions and other peoples emotions they will have a significant increase in personal and professional success by applying strategies from the four core emotional intelligence skills: self awareness, self management, social awareness, and relationship management. The idea of emotional intelligence was first proposed in 1964 and since then other physiologists have added their insights and broken it down into four to five different categories. Emotional intelligence (EQ) was recently defined as one s ability to recognize own emotions and other people s emotions and applying this understanding to manage your behavior and relationships (Bradberry Greaves, 2009). With application to the nursing world, having high EQ knowledge will improve roles and functions of nursing, teach fellow coworkers techniques to lead, and help individuals grow in identifying emotions and further understanding one s self. History of EQ Micheal Beldoch first introduced the idea of EQ in 1964, in Sensitivity to Expression of Emotional Meaning in Three Modes of Communication, a paper that examined three modes of communication: vocal, musical and graphic, to identify non verbal emotional expressions (Beldoch, 1964). It was hypothesized that, like intelligence, emotional sensitivity might be characterized by a general factor which operated in a variety of media, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Summary Of The Yellow Wall-Paper To be effective means to be successful in producing a desired or intended result. According to Aristotle, the most effective way to construct the plot of a story is to have a clear beginning, middle, and end with certain aspects included between each major part to form a complex plot. In the short story The Yellow Wall Paper , the author, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, follows Aristotle s schema for constructing an effective plot by drawing the readers emotionally to the characters; including reversal, recognition, and suffering; and having a complex plot. Charlotte Perkins Gilman emotionally draws readers to the characters in The Yellow Wall Paper. The unnamed protagonist of the story persuades readers to pity and empathize with her from the beginning of the story when she talks about her husband/physician, John, and her depression. She talks about how John is helping her by putting her on rest cure and keeping her locked in a room with no stimulation from the outside world when she says, I get unreasonably angry with John sometimes. I m not sure I never used to be so sensitive. I think it is due to this nervous condition (Gilman 315). When she describes her husband and blames her sensitivity on her condition, it is hard to read because everyone else can see that she should be angry with John and he is the main reason that she is in the mental state that she is in. What she characterized as help from her husband is clearly seen by the audience as harmful and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although the banking crisis in Cuba at the time was a threat to many people s earnings, there is no accountability that money was hid underneath the floorboards of many homes to prevent the wealth from being distributed. Fernando s character is a metaphor for the working class, who were nervous that they would give up the savings that they rightfully earned through their labor. By introducing Fernando as the voice of capitalism , the change and continuity element of the book becomes present. It takes literary elements and archetypes and combines them with the perspective of those living during the Cuban revolution, creating characters that insinuate different aspects of the revolution as a whole. The Communist Revolution of Cuba didn t just impact the working class, but rather also affected the youth living in Cuba as well. Many children fought in the brigades to avoid capital punishment.
