Exercise Intervention
Exercise interventions:
An exercise intervention could be used especially because people who are depressed feel a sense of
worthlessness (as in the definition of depression, DSM V ) . A pilot study by Nadine McGale et al
(2011) investigated the effectiveness of a team based sport with an individual exercise and a control
condition of young men. This study included a 10 week randomized control trial and an 8 week
post intervention follow up. A group of 104 sedentary males (exercise once or less per week) aged
between 18 and 40 years were randomly assigned to the three groups namely the team based sport,
individual exercise and the control group (that received no intervention). The participants
completed the Becks Depression Inventory 2nd ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the studies showed that a combination of exercise and counseling was more effective than
counseling alone (Rueter et al. 1982). Martinsen et al (1985) divided a group of 23 participants
with clinical depression into two groups (i) a control group of 14 patients and (ii) a exercise
group of 9 patients who were given TCAs (Tricyclic antidepressants) to augment treatment. It was
seen that both the group showed similar improvement in depressive symptoms. This does show that
exercise has an impact that is as good as medication to lower depressive

Essay about Todd Gitlin Summary on Media
Michael S. Earl Ms. Welch Eng 111 4177 Essay 2 10 March 2011 Gitlin s View Todd Gitlin is a
notable author born in New York City. He attended the University of California at Berkeley,
where he received a PhD in sociology and was heavily involved in the Students for a Democratic
Society group. Gitlin is now a professor at New York University where he teaches culture,
journalism, and sociology. Gitlin s selection, Supersaturation, or, The Media Torrent and
Disposable Feeling, comes from his book Media Unlimited: How the Torrent of Images and
Sounds Overwhelms Our Lives (2001). In this selection, Gitlin describes how private lives and
domestic spaces have evolved from the seventeenth century until now. He feels as though our once

We have become immune to true feelings for individual images and stories, and thrive on the
idea of the next gossip that will follow. In this selection of the book, Gitlin discusses a
seventeenth century Dutch painter by the name of Vermeer. Vermeer was known for being able
to fr[ee]ze instants, but instants that spoke of the relative constancy of the world in which his
subjects lived (Gitlin 558). People collected Vermeer s paintings for display throughout their
homes. Gitlin sees Vermeer as the seventeenth century version of the media. In that time, the
images painted were relative to the people s era and private world. In today s world Vermeer
would be the equivalent to a celebrity photographer or movie director. If Vermeer, or any other
artist of his time, were to see today s households, they would find that the once private space
inside the home is now much more dominated by images of the outside world than what would
have been possible in the 1600 s. As mentioned in Gitlin s research, statistics show that, watching
TV is the dominant leisure activity of Americans, consuming 40 percent of the average person s
free time as a primary activity [when people give television there undivided attention] (Gitlin 560).
Even the wealthier parts of poor worlds have access to some sort of media. It would take someone
from a third world country to be stunned by the fact that our lives are constantly portrayed through
television, radio, internet

The Effects Of Coal Mining On The Health Of The Body
Coal mining has several negative effects on the health of the body that often times go unrecognized
or just simply ignored. Many people have died from mining for various reasons such as the collapse
of the mines as well as respiratory diseases caused by mining. Governments across the globe
continue to implement regulations for the miners and populations surrounding the mines, but they
have failed to eliminate health risks related to mining, which is nearly impossible. Mining permits
used to be easy to obtain but under the Obama administration, the United States Environmental
Protection Agency began conducting more reviews and now they have issued comprehensive
guidance which was designed to strengthen requirements regarding mountain top removal (MTR)
and other surface mining products (Holzman 2011). The more an organism is exposed to coal
mining, the more health problems they will face. Simply being in the mines for certain duration
of time can lead to several diseases such as dust disease otherwise known as Pneumoconiosis.
Miner s lung is a very large problem that is evident in British coal mines. Coal mining areas tend
to be more at risk of a socioeconomic disadvantage, higher risk of health problems, and
deconstruction of the environment in comparison to non coal mining areas (Mclour 2008). In
Mclour s study of miners lung , the quality of life is briefly covered and discussed. Due to the lack
of studies on injuries and illnesses in the workplace, awareness of

Gender Norms In William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
In the epilogue, the audience is reminded that the character Rosalind is played by a boy actor
when she says the lines; If I were a woman, I would kiss as many of you as had beards that
pleased me, complexions that liked me, and breaths that I defied not (Epi. 17 20). Based on the
gender norms during this era, this line would cause discomfort among the audience because the
boy actor is saying that he would kiss the men in the audience if he was truly a woman. During
Shakespeare s time it was okay for a man to have feelings for another man for a short period of
time as long as he never acted on it because this shows that the man has not yet matured. He will
only truly mature into an adult when he has taken a wife for himself and forget about

Teen People Magazine Essay
Teen People Magazine
The Teen People, September edition, is a magazine designed to appeal to young female readers. Its
content features well known celebrities, use of bright and flashy colors, and an organized layout
that attracts an upbeat, young readership interested in high quality appearance and style. Although
the magazine s main focus may appear to insure a great fashion sense, it also concentrates on a
philosophical orientation by covering a more diverse readership that includes all colors, sizes, and
shapes of females. Teen People also expands its audience by recognizing both visual and text
oriented audiences. To appeal to the more visual oriented audience, the magazine uses exotic
photography in the advertisements for Self ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, the advertisement on page sixty four of the magazine uses an angelic/fairy tale theme
to introduce Secret Deodorant to the visually stimulated audience. In the center of the page, a
fairy like woman stands in the midst of a very surreal setting with stars and a light blue sky. By
using a woman who personifies a fairy, Secret manages to connect the new brand of Secret Violet
Dazzle with a mystical theme. The bright hues of purple and the naturalistic atmosphere, once
again, attract very young viewers to the product. Secret pictures a frail, flawless female to suggest
that varying types of women may use their product and still resemble the pure and enchanting
image. Thus, they incorporate the text When you re strong, you Sparkle, to show that by using their
product, one can eliminate the fear of smelling and sparkle with confidence. The advertisement
itself is very striking to the human eye. It s busy layout and choice in colors captivates those who
enjoy striking photography.
Unlike the Self Esteem and Secret Deodorant advertisements, which project a flirtatious and
heavenly attitude, Ralph Lauren s advertisement for the new scented hair collection portrays a
model with a sexually suggestive attitude. Ralph Lauren, a clothing line known for its natural yet
sexy look, attracts young females with the desire to be well known. Although the photography
appears rather simple and plain, the readers

NASHVILLE They were born into it. But, what was once a 20 cow operation has grown into
150 cows and 700 acres. Spring Walk Farm, the name of which comes from the land and the
spring by which they would have to walk to get to the barn, was established just north of
Nashville in the late 1800s by William Wachtel. It s now run by the father son team of Bill and
Kurt, who inherited it from William s son and Bill s father, Floyd. Floyd was born in 1918 to
William and Lena, who lived down the road from today s main farmhouse. It s the same home
into which Bill and his two sisters and Kurt and his two sisters were born. Bill and wife, Beverly,
to whom he was married in 1963, moved into the main farmhouse when their children were
young. Originally, William Wachtel milked all his Guernsey cows by hand. It was Floyd who
introduced portable milkers, which were carted from stall to stall, with milk captured in buckets
transported by hand to cans stored in a cooler in the milk house. By this time, the number of
cows milked on the farm had doubled. In the 1950s, a milking parlor was constructed and it s in
there, with pipelines running from each stanchion to bulk tanks, the milk makes its way to await
transfer into a cooler truck, which will haul it away. And, while the job was getting more
streamlined, it didn t make adjustment to farm life any easier for Beverly, who grew up as a city

Does The Truth Really Matter Essay
Does the Truth Really Matter?
In today s world, there are plenty of news articles and gossip floating around all over the place
for people to get their hands on. Have you ever thought to yourself that the article you just read
or the ad you just watched was fake? Currently, there are tons of falsified information being
placed on the internet or TV for us to see. We begin to think it s nothing and just shrug it off, but
what we do not realize is that fake news is taking over, and we no longer can tell what is true, or
what is false. Is the truth important in today s world?
While doing research, I discovered that people tend to follow a confirmation bias. The confirmation
bias is when someone is constantly searching for the truth. For ... Show more content on

If you are the leader of this study, you would assume that the results your peers give you are 100%
true. Falsifying information/ results for something as important as this study could lead to horrible
things. It is very wrong to lie about things, especially if it puts a person s life at risk. But, there are
some cases where lying could help in a situation, or protect someone.
Lying in some instances, is not always bad. There are many ways a little white lie is good every
now and then. Your friend asks you if this dress looks cute on her, and you say ooo yes girl it
looks great . But, you think it does not look that good on her. You said that to protect her
feelings. That is one example of how telling a white lie is not that bad. People also tell white lies
for happy occasions too, like a surprise party. Lying can also get you out of a situation. For
example, someone you really do not like approaches you and asks for your phone number. You
could say that you do not have a phone. In that case it wouldn t really harm anyone.
If you really think about it, lying does more harm than good. We need to stop spreading lies and
hate. Lying is morally and ethically wrong, and it does not get you anywhere in life. Have you
ever heard of the Boy who cried Wolf ? The little boy cried wolf several times, and the people
believed him until they got tired of running to him

Apartheid In South Africa Dbq
During the period of Apartheid in South Africa between 1948 and 1994 the reactions of the South
African citizens towards the legal separation of races varied depending on race, ideals and time
period. After gold and diamonds were fud inSouthAfrica both the dutch and British wanted the land
to themselves, leading to the Boer War from which the Dutch farmers emerged victorious.
Following the Boer War and the creation of the Union of South Africain 1910, the Dutch Boers
gained control over the majority of the land in the previously British Cape Colony along with the
settlements they had already built, the Transvaal and the Orange Free State. Blacks in South Africa

Archbishop Desmond Tutu was one of these people and Doc 7 showed a 1984 speech to the
United Nations Security Council where he addressed the possibility of a new society for all
people in South Africa. 1984 was the year P.W. Botha became president and began his police
state and South Africa was still yet to see the worst atrocities of the Apartheid struggle. Tutu
believed that the only reason the whites in South Africa were cruel to the blacks was because
they were scared; they were outnumbered and after the ancestors of the white population had
fought against the natives for decades their fear was only reinforced through stories of the
barbaric Africans. They were also scared that if given the opportunity the blacks would drive
them out of South Africa and out of their land of birth. Tutu suggested a new nation in which all
people were equal as they were created in the image of god and where the government was truly
democratic. Because Desmond Tutu had lived through the entire period of Apartheid and was a
leader of the back christian community in South Africa he would have seen and understood the
feelings the people of South Africa had toward Apartheid. He would have also strived to implicate
Christian beliefs of equality back into the hearts of the white people and end the use of violence.
One year before Desmond Tutu s speech a new political party formed called the United Democratic
Front. This party was a non racial and anti Apartheid organization which specifically opposed the
Tricameral parliament which allowed coloured and asian south Africans minimal representation
while the black population was still excluded. The Poster for the United Democratic front shown in
Doc 9 gave an image to the blacks in South Africa that

Comparison Of Jane Austen s Sense And Sensibility
On December 16, 1775, Jane Austen was born in Steventon, Hampshire, England. She was born
into a middle class family. Her father was Reverend George Austen, a member of the clergy, and
her mother was Cassandra Leigh who came from a higher social rank. Jane was the second
daughter of a family of eight, and she was closest to the eldest sister Cassandra. From this
information alone, there is a pattern present in Jane s work. She tends to write romance fiction
novels about middle class England. Her characters in Sense and Sensibilityare generally from the
middle class, and the main characters are females and siblings. Likewise, the eldest sister has
amiable traits, and the younger sibling admires her as Jane views her eldest sister in real... Show

Inheritance is a very important topic in Sense and Sensibility since Jane stresses how Mr. John
Dashwood acquires all of Mr. Dashwood s money after his death while his sisters get nothing.
Jane s cousin, Elizabeth Hancock, married a French aristocrat by the name of Jean Capotte. In
Sense and Sensibility, marriage is a highly relevant factor in society, for marriage determines
stability and wealth. Hence, Willoughby marries Miss Grey rather than Marianne, the woman he
loves, due to Miss Grey s fortune. Meanwhile, Mrs. Ferrars abandons her son, Edward Ferrars,
after he marries a woman without fortune. Although Jane almost married Harris Big Wither, Jane
and Cassandra both remained unmarried. Additionally, there are aspects of Jane s life that may
have contributed to her career as a writer. Anne Lefroy was an important friend of Jane Austen. Also
known as Madam Lefroy, she was a writer, fond of literature, and kind to the poor (Kelly).
Subsequently, she encouraged [Jane s] intellectual development and may have influenced Jane s
occupation as a writer (Kelly). Within the Austen household, reading was a common way to
pass the time, so one family member would read aloud to the rest. A person s ability to read
aloud was considered a valuable skill. In the same way, Jane s characters in Sense and Sensibility
compare and judge each other by skill set, which includes one s ability to read with passion and
style. The characters may also judge

Positive And Negative Effects Of Social Networking
Like all revolutions, the social networking revolution is accompanied by concerns and questions
about whether the changes have wrought something better or something worse. (Szumski and
Karson В¶ 4) The social networking revolution has come a long way in its accessibility and
effectiveness and has become a great resource for many people. But with its benefits come more
serious downfalls that need to be acknowledged and dealt with. While social networking can be
used as a clear, accessible source, for communication, social networking also has several negative
effects on a person in ways such as socially, mentally, and physically; by limiting internettime,
restricting the accessibility, and monitoring what kids are doing, social networking... Show more

It not only affects the user, but also the people around them, and the effects are more serious
than most people know. In a article written by Shivani Jain, Rakesh Sharma and Sushil they
explain that By using social networking in the wrong way can cause behavior or a narcissistic
and antisocial behavior in children. (Jain and Sharma et al. В¶ 18) A problem comes when
people create relationships over the internet and beleive that it is a true genuine relationship. In
a study done by The Royal Society Open Science Organization, they found that social network
users only feel as though 27.6% of their onlines friends are people that would be there for them
in hard times like a real friends. (Dunbar В¶11) Children have a hard time understanding that
social networking is not always real and accurate. As awesome as it is that we can meet new
people on the internet that we would likely not meet in person, unfortunately it cannot be certain
exactly who it is we are making a connection with. In an article from Gale Cengage Learning, a
columnist for the Times, Eleanor Mills exclaims that the skills that create long lasting friendships
needed in life by everyone are not being portrayed by social networking sites. She continues to
explain that the relationships developed and maintained on the internet should not be taken as
seriously as the relationships in real life. (Mills В¶) By not teaching kids what it takes to make

Vocal Styles Expressive sincerity, authenticity, and intimacy in vocal music require a significant
connection between the voice, vocal music and the text itself. This analytical essay will
investigate this statement using Franz Schubert s Erlkronig and a contemporary song: Instant

Austrian composer Franz Schubert in 1815. One of the special features of this piece includes one

During the father s lyrics, the right hand of the piano uses unison octaves and block chords. In
contrary, the left hand plays single semibreves. (Bars 112 130) The key then modulates to a new
key D minor. The context of the lyrics state that if the boy won t go willingly with the Erlkronig,
he will have to take him by force. The boy who is terrified, screams out loud and shortly passes
away. During the Erlkronig s part, the melody moves in chromatic steps which expresses the
idea that Erlkronig has lost patience and will take the boy by force. This is the climax of the
song from pianissimo (pp) to fortississimo (fff). (Bars 130 147) The key returns to the original
key signature of G minor. Also, the narrator returns and states the father riding like the wind on
his horse and finally reaching the safety he was seeking. His son is dead in his arms. This final
section has the largest range starting at D below the staff rising the G above the staff then moving
back to D below the staff which is the dominant of the current key signature, G minor. The piece

Summary Of Rent Seeking And The Making Of An Unequal...
Ninety Nine Percent Supporting and Rooting for the One Percent In today s society, the rich get
richer and the poorer get poorer. Why is it that our land of opportunity society is so filled with
so much inequality? The poor are often the ones with losses. According to Joseph E. Stiglitz, the
author of Rent Seeking And The Making Of An Unequal Society , individuals of society are
made to believe that: The poor, in this land of opportunity, have only themselves to blame.
Millions of individuals in our society are losing jobs daily, but the one percent of the top class is
not losing their jobs. As a result of this inequality, an egocentric and a society filled with
inequality has formed. In Robert Thurman s essay, Wisdom , Thurman claims that a society
filled with inequality is formed as a result of giving importance to the self. However this claim
can be falsified by comparing it to the text by Martha Stout, When I Woke up Tuesday Morning, It
Was Friday . In Martha Stout s text her patient, Julia is extremely successful. Along with her
successes Julia does not give much importance to her self. Julia often disassociates from reality is
unsure of her self, so she cannot give much importance to her self. Considering this it is accurate to
hypothesize that our society filled with inequality is not resulting from individuals giving
importance to the self. However , it can be justified to blame the top one percent for the inequality
in our nation. The selfish behavior

Isadora Duncan And Modern Dance
Isadora Duncan was born on May 26th 1877 in San Francisco, California. She became a known
dancer and instructor, and she influenced dance techniques today. She was one of the people who
came up with dancing in a natural way, unlike modern ballet, allowing the performer to feel right.
She didn t believe that danceshould be unnatural to the person s body. She was a great influence to
modern dance.
After her birth in 1877, her father lost his job at a bank in California. Not shortly afterwards, her
parents divorced around 1880. Isadora was raised by her mother Dora who was a piano teacher.
This probably made her feel the music more because she would move her body to the music
while they practiced and didn t have a teacher at that time. Their family not long after moved to
Oakland, California where her mother struggled with making money as a piano instructor. Isadora
s dad returned later and provided a home for his ex wife.
When Isadora was a little girl she studied ballet like Delsarte technique and she studied Burlesque
and automatically fell in love with dance. She didn t like traditional ballet so she made her own
style that was more comfortable. She believed ballet had too many rules. When she was six she
began teaching kids in her neighborhood how to dance. Word was spreading about her class and
around age ten her classes became bigger.
Eventually she dropped out of school at a young age so Duncan and her sister Elizabeth could earn
extra money from teaching a dance

During all the confusion, while the handyman went for help, Mrs. Borden was completely

Sex And The City Motherhood Essay
Motherhood in America is something that takes a lot of work and dedication and can be
considered a full time job. Sex and the City, black ish, and Jane the Virgin are three examples
that present motherhood in different lights. In the movie Sex and the City portrays motherhood
as something no women can do alone. In black ish it shows a dream world where a mother can
work a full time job and still be able to be around for her kids. Compared to these unrealistic
forms of media, Jane The Virgin shows the true struggles of raising a baby. It shows how it takes a
village to raise a baby and how motherhood is not always sunshine and rainbows. Using Radical
Cultural Feminismand Materialist Feminism, displays ways in which motherhood is depicted in
these three films in order to reveal the struggles and overall rewarding experience of being a

One view of the Materialist Feminist is that women are taught to see their bodies as
commodities. This is very true in Jane The Virgin concerning Petra. They would have liked that
Petra uses her body to get what she wants and to get where she wants to be. Her mother is always
mentioning about how her beauty is what is important and what will get her through life. In
Season 1 episode 5 Petra s mother says about how her skin is so dry and that she needs to take
care of it. She then tells Petra that your beauty is your weapon. Petra has been raised to use her
body has a commodity. The system of Petra using her body as a commodity to get ahead is bad.
But, she is never alienated from her intellectual processes and abilities. Materialist Feminists
believe that women alienate themselves by seeing their bodies as commodities and not trusting
their intellectual abilities. Petra may use her body to get what she wants, but she is never put

The Ancient Egyptian History And Culture
The history of Ancient Egypt is one of the most highly admired and studied cultures of all the
past world civilizations. The fascination of the sphinx and the questioning of the pyramids have
typically led archeologists to devote their time and efforts into unraveling the mysteries and
figuring out the ways of the Egyptian culture. However, some may argue that the alluring aspect
of the Ancient Egyptian history and culture is mummification. Some people bury their dead in
the ground so that their soul can carry on to heaven while their body turns to dust. Others chose
to burn the body and reduce it to ashes that are either kept in memorial or are dispersed. The
Egyptians, on the other hand, believed in a different way of life after death and the burial of the
body. They desired to preserve the remains as a basic element for survival after death, as well as
the journey into the afterlife. With such exotic funerary process, the Egyptians created a view as
being a morbid, death obsessed society. Mummification played a major role in Ancient Egyptian s
religious belief of life after death, but the process of this unique burial and display of the corpse
differed depending on the time period the ritual was performed. EVOLUTION To the Egyptians, the
preservation of the body was a fundamental asset to the continuation of life after death. The process
of mummification evolved over many decades, becoming more of a dominate ritual in their ancient
culture. The beginning of

Analysis Of The Fox s Hollow
In the Fox s Hollow
Foxes are known for their cleverness and their ability to overcome obstacles in creative ways.
Quick, agile, and focused, outsmarting others comes easily to them. The similarities between
these intelligent creatures and Mrs. Amy Fox goes far deeper than their name. Amy Fox is an
English instructor, her class is not one to scoff at and anyone looking for and easy A, should
look the other directions. For, any grammatical error, any inconsistencies in an argument, Fox
will weed them out. With sharp eyes and numerous college degrees at her back, nothing gets past
her. To pass her class one must also become a fox; clever enough to overcome large workloads
without becoming overwhelmed, quick enough to spot errors in their own papers before turning
them in, and focused enough to maintain presence in the classroom despite other things that
maybe going on. No, Fox s class is not easy, it forces students to overcome bad habits, but also
provides the correct tools to do so, if the student is willing to do the work. Mrs. Fox s English 101
class is challenging because it calls for time managements skills, demands attention to details, and
requires flexibility.
Mrs. Fox s class calls for time management, especially outside of the classroom. Most of the work

Research Paper On Larpool Viaduct
Whether your interests lie in history and culture, vampires and Goths, or just fish and chips this
walk ticks all those boxes. It begins with a leisurely stroll along a former railway trackway to
cross the River Esk at the Larpool Viaduct. After exploring the many attractions of Whitby, a
bracing walk along the Cleveland Way returns us to Hawsker. The village of Hawsker consists of
two parts, known as High and Low, and it originally had a cobbler, tailor, blacksmith and a
windmill. Of these only the mill at Low Hawsker remains. The mill, built c.1861, stood 64 feet

the upper storeys removed in 1960. Standing in an enclosure further along... Show more content on

Captain Cook, Dracula and Whitby Abbey have each played a part in Whitby s fame and

navy apprentice with Quaker shipowners, John and Henry Walker, ferrying coal between the
North East and London. The Captain Cook Memorial Museum is in a seventeenth century house
in Grape Lane on the harbourside. According to long standing Whitby tradition, this is where
Cook lodged during his apprenticeship when he was not at sea. (For more on Captain Cook see

Church Stairs. Every tenth step and the last one has a small brass plate denoting the step number
so there s no need to count them! The stairway leads to the East Cliff and St. Mary s Church
where there are panoramic views back over Whitby. The Abbey ruins stand next to St Mary s

Jimmy Carter s Foreign Policy Analysis
Before Jimmy Carter, President Gerald Ford had taken over the country in August of 1974 when
President Nixon had resigned the same year. As the first unelected president in United States
history, Ford offered an inflation to those who struggled with the economy and issued amnesty to
Vietnam draft dodgers. Pardon was given along with conditions to serve two years and pledge their
allegiance to the United States. But there had been economical issues and the energy crisis had
taken place. When Carter was running for president as a Democrat in 1976, a close race resulted
in 55% of electoral votes and 50% of popular vote. Then later in 1980 when running for a second

Energy Administration and other energy related government programs into a single cabinet level

when, the United States started the Manhattan Project to develop the atomic bomb. It was under
the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers supervision and then after the war in 1946, the Atomic Energy
Commission was created to control the progression of the project. It created structure in order to
make a plan that would help save energy and stop the energy crisis of 1970. This act called for an
entirely new department and it helped develop new energy technology, a central energy data

The Duty Of Care Services
A duty of care is a legal obligation to protect wellbeing and prevent harm within the health and
social care sector. The duty of care is very important as it does not only protect the service users but
the service provider s as well. There are 7 principles all care workers must follow in order to care
for the service users effectively. I will be investigating the quality of care given by service
providers in both a child and adult health and social care settings. if the duty of care is not

Tree roots are the most common unpreventable cause of sewage backup. The tree s roots move
towards sources of moisture, and as a result, they rupture the underground pipes. Older pipes can
also cause an issue with raw sewage because the materials used often include: clay or soft metals.
When it comes to a sewage backup, heavy rain has sometimes been the culprit. For example, the
overflowing water, leaves and tree branches can leave debris that causes flooding and clogging
of your sewage system. How can Business Owners and Homeowners Handle This? The best
method is to leave the overall cleanup to the professionals. However, you are the first to take

The notion of inclusion is progressively being accepted as a vital method of learning in our growing
school systems. I believe that every student, those with and without exceptionalities, have the right
to be included in a general education classroom. Students with learning, social and behavioral
exceptionalities or varied abilities deserve the right to be provided with the same opportunities as
any other students in the regular general education classroom. The information that I have acquired

Both children with and without exceptionalities learn with and from each other. Also, since both
children with and without exceptionalities are expected to learn to write, read, and do math; higher
expectations can be set and with good instruction children with exceptionalities can excel in these
academic skills.
I also believe that a key element of inclusion is maintaining a close relationship between me and the
special education teachers and paraprofessionals that I will be working with. If it is at all possible
to work together in one classroom, I believe that this will benefit all my students.
I hope to embrace all parts of every student and include all different types of learners as I create
my future classroom. As future and hopeful elementary education teacher I want to give every child
the opportunity to be a part of my classroom.
A Plan to Identify Social, Emotional, and Academic needs
The first part in having a successful inclusive classroom is to identify the social, emotional and
academic needs of all students and meet them. The first thing I would do is to review the student
file to see what has been done or not done in the past. This will give any indication if past needs
or behaviors have been identified or if they have just started. Collecting data will be important here
because I will need a complete and clear picture of students strengths and challenges, so that

spreading non violence, gaining independence from Britain, and developing unity between Hindus

The Discovery Of The Logarithm
The Contributors of Logarithms
The discovery of the logarithm is a great mathematics breakthrough made by John Napier and Joost
Burgi. These two mathematicians had different concepts of the logarithms and its present use
today. John Napier s logarithms were published in 1614, while six years later, in 1620, Burgi s
logarithms were published (A REVIEW OF LOGARITHMS 2016). Both Napier and Burgi invented
logarithms in order to simplify mathematical calculations. To reach their goals, they used two
different methods; Napier used the algebraic method and Burgi used the geometric method.
Although these two men had discovered logarithms, they did not have the concept of a logarithmic
base. The current definition defines a logarithm as the power ... Show more content on

Originally, the exponent notation was not used, but was a further developed method to explain
Burgi s concept. In conclusion, Burgi s discovery of relating geometric and arithmetic series is the
reason why he has a great contributor to the development of logarithms.
The other important contributor to the development of logarithms in 1614 was John Napier, a
Scottish mathematician. His incentive was to help in the multiplication of sine quantities. The
entire sine was the value of the side calculated of a right angle triangle with a large hypotenuse. In
participation with the English mathematician Henry Briggs, Napier transformed his logarithm into
its present day shape. The comparison of logarithms is between an L point moving consistently
minus infinity, and an X point moving from zero towards infinity at a speed proportional to its
distance from zero. Napier s discovery made a general relation between the arithmetic and
geometric series; i.e., multiplication and rising to a power of the values of the X point correspond
to addition and multiplication of the values of the L point, respectively (John Napier and
logarithms 2016). For instance, in order to limit the L and X motion, the requirement is that L=1 at
X=10, additionally to that condition that X=1 at L=0. The change had contributed to the logarithm
known as the Briggsian at that time (Logarithms: The Early History of a

Comparing The Body And Spirit
Daoist Body In Daoism the body and spirit are seen as the same continuum of the Dao. Each is
equally important in the transformation to an immortal body. The challenge for Daoist is to
transform the entire body spirit continuum to a higher level and to experience themselves as one
with the Dao. With this in mind we can see that to Daoist the human body is viewed as a
collection of the cosmic energy qi (Kuhn, 2). Qi, is the fundamental energy at life s source. Like
the Dao there is only one qi. At conception a tiny bit of Heavenly qi is given to the human body. It
maintains life and growth, supports reproduction of life, and declines with age. At the time of
death, the qi is completely gone (Furth,21). There are two major types of qi,... Show more content

Five Phases (wu xing), Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. These Five Phases, when applied to
the human body, explain the dynamic relationships and bodily affinities of five basic systems of
visceral function (zang) and are associated with Liver, Heart, Spleen, Lung, and Kidney (Furth,23).
Inner Alchemy Neidan е…§дё№ (inner alchemy) is a collection of physical, mental, and spiritual
practices that Daoist use to create an immortal spiritual body that will survive after death. There is
no clear date for when neidan was first established. However, many scholars have found many

theory, Buddhist soteriology and Confucian moral philosophy are all a part of neidan. (Pregadio

practice. Jindan 金丹 (Golden Elixir) was

In young people, bone is created faster than it is broken down, so bone mass increases and bones
strengthen. In older people, however, this balance is reversed. Bone strength generally peaks at
about the age of 30. As bones weaken with age, people develop osteopenia, a reduction in bone
mass. If the process continues, people develop osteoporosis. Osteopenia and osteoporosis can
occur at any age, but it is most common among people older than 50. Women are four times more
likely than men to develop osteoporosis. As a woman s levels of the hormone estrogen declines
(such as during menopause), her risk of bone loss significantly increases.
With no obvious symptoms, osteopenia and osteoporosis often go undetected until a diagnosis
from a healthcare professional. Untreated, a person can continue living with osteoporosis for
many years. The risk of a fracture during this time, however, increases significantly. Fractures are a
significant issue for older people. One study of postmenopausal women with osteoporosis reported
that 10.9 percent had a vertebral fracture and 2.5 percent had a hip fracture during a three year
period.3
The main way to diagnose osteoporosis was with a bone mineral density (BMD) test. The primary

However, the costs of installing new versions of this web server are high. In addition, its restriction

The No Child Left Behind Act Of 2001
There were a fair number of interesting topics in this Political Science 2 class session of the Fall
2016 semester. A few that stood out to me, personally, were the topics of laissez faire economics,
separate but equal issues, and the viewpoints of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. From the
tenth edition of the course book We the People, Texas Ed. by Benjamin Ginsberg and Unit 2 of
the lecture; a policy developed by the efforts of the late philosopher and economist, Adam Smith,
laissez faire economics essentially means that the government should play a basal role in
government. Also from the same book and in Unit 1 of the lecture; the topic of separate but equal
was discussed. This notion dictates that African Americans be treated equally by being allowed to
exercise fundamental rights as human beings, but still must use separate facilities. This mandate
came from the case now known as Plessy vs. Ferguson in which an African American challenged
the Jim Crow laws that were set within the public transportation policy. And lastly, in the same
fashion, from Unit 3 of the lecture; the act known as No Child Left Behind was also discussed in
the class.
The No Child Left Behind act mandated, by federal law, that new measures be taken place to hold
elementary and secondary schools in all states accountable for student education and growth and
must meet a certain requirement in order to receive federal financial assistance. But one must ask

Examples for that are customizing products or services they need. Customers interact with the
market in a critical way in order to optimize it in an economic functional and also cultural way.
Generally, consumers engage in different activities that boost the market value of any company s
offer on the market. There are different types of activities: positive (co creation), critical
(resistance), intangible (appropriation) and tangible (product information). The second
characteristic is that consumers interact with each other and even company staff while producing
value. Associations of individuals who work together create innovations and provide cultural and
social capital (ibid.). The process of cultural value creation and consumer agency is based on
social interaction and even companies sometimes participate in this process as partners (Cova,
Dalli, 2009: 325). Direct interaction is possible between consumers and also companies due to new
technologies. The third factor that describes consumer productive activity is that consumers seek
personal purposes, such as pleasure, satisfaction, commitment and others. According to Walker
(2008), the wish of consumers to cooperate with a company or brand is a reaction of helpless,
disconnected and uncounted feelings. Consumers work for the purpose of feeling gratified,
satisfied and at times socially recognized (Cova, Dalli, 2009). The fourth characteristic is that

isolated land of picturesque vistas used to often describe Canada s rugged landscape. The lived
Canadian environment reflects a regional perspective that does not encompass the true reality of the
country as a whole. The North links the diversity of Indigenous peoples to the land they have
occupied for centuries, a place where they have built their own distinct culture, language and
identity. Those ideals have been increasingly challenged in the twenty first century, in spite of the
imagined sense of Canadianness in the North but because of the transitioning economy and
environment in the North. This paper will explore the challenges facing Canadas northern resource
economy and the socio cultural implications on the regions Aboriginal population.
Historically, the national psyche of the Territorial North uses the region to define the country to
citizens and the world, with 80% of Canadians linking their national identity to the North (Cric
Papers 4). Canadians have come to see the North as an idea, not [a] location; a myth, a promise, a
destiny (Francis 152). The North serves as a land of imagination and a physical challenge for
adventurers, epitomizing the North as a romanticized region (Francis 154) which links the
landscape and environment to an imagined sense of Canadian culture and identity. Beyond the
depths of the imagined North lie three very distinct

The Size Of Multimedia Is Increasing And The Need For Its...
Introduction 1.1BigData In today s world, the size of multimedia is increasing and the need for
its fast retrieval. Nowadays there are lot of social networking like Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn
which upgrade and generate huge volume of data. BigData has three Characteristics Volume For
example Facebook alone generates 10 Tb of data (each day), twitter generates 7 Tb which is
very huge volume of data being generated and upgraded. Previously the data was maximum
considered in gigabytes but nowadays data is generated in Terabytes to Petabytes and sometime
in future it will reach to Zettabytes which huge volume of data if we consider social industry and
if take other industry like finance where the data makes a big difference like the stock market
which is globally hundreds of stock exchanges there are other data like company s fundamental
data, this is also generating GB/TB of data in volume which is collectively in TB/PB. Variety
Other than volume if we consider there is another characteristic with the BigData which is variety
that is the data generated is structured, semi structured and unstructured. Structured data is any data
which can be stored, accessed and processed in fixed format like tables etc. UnStructured Data is
any data with unknown form or structure like audio files, video files and images etc. Processing of
this unstructured data is difficult. Semi Structured Data is that contains both the forms of data like
blogs, emails. Velocity Velocity defines how fast

The Roles Of Children And Youth Actors Essay
Theatre feels like it is fading away from relevancy. Often times, theatre is dismissed at all levels,
whether it is from just community theatre or reserved for in laws and tourists. This means that
theatre has got two options. It will either become a completely rigid institution that loses its force
and relevance, or it needs to change and be able to become a powerful voice again. I think that what
the theatreneeds is already available and in the theatre, but not used correctly. I feel that children
are some of the most important aspects of theatre and are overlooked because of archetypal child
stars. Now, this does not mean I endorse productions like Rent adapted for high schools or
having twelve year old s performing Spurt of Blood. Those sorts of plays are not appropriate and
should be performed by adults. However, that also means that they should be limited to Annie. I
think that children and youth actors are so beneficial because they offer the commitment,
creativity, willingness, and camaraderie that is needed to change theatre into an influential
strength. Children in the theatre have a lot of flaws. It is something that is impossible to
overlook, so it must be acknowledged. They do not always have the willpower not to look for
family members in the audience or grab at costume pieces that are uncomfortable. If it is a play
that s cast is primarily children, they can quickly become rowdy and run rampant backstage. When
in the audience, they can become bored and

The Marshmallow Effect
Marshmallow Effect Scientists often attribute adaptive and goal directed human behavior to an
intellectual control system that organizes, monitors, and alters the settings of lower level
perceptive processes. This allows people to suppress or replace impulsive, habitual, or
inappropriate actions. The Marshmallow Effect is an experiment conducted by psychologist Walter
Mischel in the 1970 s to study self control in children (Walter, 2013). This experiment is a simple
but effective when it comes to the modern study of the human ability to delay gratification. The
studies are about achievement situations and what influences a child to reach his or her choice.
The ability to delay gratification has commonly been seen in large part as an issue... Show more

When a person take his time to do the right things at right time and follow a course that takes a

Temptations to throw in the towel come in many forms along with the emotional appeal of the

The Montgomery Bus
December 1, 1955 was a day that I will never forget because it marks the anniversary of the
Montgomery bus incident. On that date, I had gotten on a city bus to head home after a long day
working at the tailor shop, and I was later arrested. At this point, my mind was focused on why
equality is deserved and how I should defend my spot on the bus. I had been sitting in a seat in the
back half of the bus where I was supposed to go. During a certain point in the ride home, there
had been an excess amount of people getting on compared to the usual 5 10 passengers. Therefore,
some of us blacks had been told to give up our seats to the white peoplewho deserved it more. Me,
being African American was one of the lucky ones who was told to let... Show more content on

It was a normal day, and I was at work until I had to go. Then everything took a turn once I had
sat down on the bus and was asked to give up my seat to a more deserving person than I. The way
I reacted was by deciding that standing up for myself was the best way to go. So, I stayed on the
bus until the bus driver had called the police to come and get me. They eventually had shown up
to where I was on the bus and handcuffed me, and I was then arrested sitting in a cop car. At the
start of the day, I had foreseen a nice, normal day without having big problems to worry about
such as this one. As soon as this had all happened, and I was arrested and put in jail, my whole
day was turned around. This being said, jail was a very different experience compared to
everyday normal routines. It was so isolated, and you were put in a cell with very little places to
sit or things to do. Jail was not a place I would call nice, but once you re there, you start to think
about what you did to end up there in the first place. Even with those thoughts, I still had the gut
feeling, wondering why segregation was a rule that had to be made. The idea of separating
people for the color of their skin was just a way of discriminating race against people. Many
African Americans were living in poverty and ended up in desperate need for simple, everyday
items because they weren t allowed to have good jobs to pay for those costs. I myself grew up in
a family where everyone, no matter what the age, as long as you could walk and talk, had to
work a job to earn money. There were times in my life, when my family and I barely had enough
to keep our house. This just goes to show that everyone matters, and nobody should have to live in

Np Role
Tara Butts Georgia College and State University The role of the Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the
U.S. is one that has undergone numerous changes over past years. When the first NP program
was developed in 1965 at the University of Colorado by a pediatrician by the name of Henry
Silver and a master s prepared public health nurse by the name of Loretta Ford, the role was
primarily meant to train nurses to provide care to poor, rural, children in Colorado. (Joel, 2013)
By the 1970 s, it was clear that the NP could fill the country s need for healthcare providers and
the number of programs providing NP education rose to 178 by 1977. (Joel, 2013) At this point in
time there were no clear guidelines in regard to curriculum and evaluation standards, that is until
the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners was developed in 1985, bringing with it an
abundance of political support for the NP role. (Joel, 2013)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

With the implementation of the Consensus Model for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
(APRN) in 2008, great strides have been made in APRN s gaining legal authority, prescriptive
authority, and reimbursement mechanisms. (Joel, 2013) Educational requirements for the APRN
NP remain the same throughout the US in that all NPs must be master s degree prepared. The
National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) has set forth core NP
competencies in which all NP program curriculums are based upon. This ensures that the NP is
trained to serve as a provider, direct caregiver, client advocate, teacher, consultant, researcher, and
educator. (Faculties,

Dumpster Diving Summary
Lars Eighner begins by recalling a time from before he began to dumpster dive as an attempt to
reveal to his readers that his fondness for garbage cans was not something forced upon him. He
quickly transitions to the time when he began to dumpster dive and describes the overall
experience of it. Once he has completed his general description, the essay takes a detailed turn into
what dumpster divingthrough the years has taught him: everything from determining good food
from the bad, how wasteful students in college can be, making sure drinks are safe, the stages a
beginning dumpsterdiver goes through (self disgust, curiosity, realization, and possibly the
dangerous hoarding), and how dumpster diving has a hand in gained weight. Further

We have become immune to true feelings for individual images and stories, and thrive on the idea of the next gossip that will follow. In this selection of the book, Gitlin discusses a seventeenth century Dutch painter by the name of Vermeer. Vermeer was known for being able to fr[ee]ze instants, but instants that spoke of the relative constancy of the world in which his subjects lived (Gitlin 558). People collected Vermeer s paintings for display throughout their homes. Gitlin sees Vermeer as the seventeenth century version of the media. In that time, the images painted were relative to the people s era and private world. In today s world Vermeer would be the equivalent to a celebrity photographer or movie director. If Vermeer, or any other artist of his time, were to see today s households, they would find that the once private space inside the home is now much more dominated by images of the outside world than what would have been possible in the 1600 s. As mentioned in Gitlin s research, statistics show that, watching TV is the dominant leisure activity of Americans, consuming 40 percent of the average person s free time as a primary activity [when people give television there undivided attention] (Gitlin 560). Even the wealthier parts of poor worlds have access to some sort of media. • 5. The Effects Of Coal Mining On The Health Of The Body Coal mining has several negative effects on the health of the body that often times go unrecognized or just simply ignored. Many people have died from mining for various reasons such as the collapse of the mines as well as respiratory diseases caused by mining. Governments across the globe continue to implement regulations for the miners and populations surrounding the mines, but they have failed to eliminate health risks related to mining, which is nearly impossible. Mining permits used to be easy to obtain but under the Obama administration, the United States Environmental Protection Agency began conducting more reviews and now they have issued comprehensive guidance which was designed to strengthen requirements regarding mountain top removal (MTR) and other surface mining products (Holzman 2011). The more an organism is exposed to coal mining, the more health problems they will face. Simply being in the mines for certain duration of time can lead to several diseases such as dust disease otherwise known as Pneumoconiosis. Miner s lung is a very large problem that is evident in British coal mines. Coal mining areas tend to be more at risk of a socioeconomic disadvantage, higher risk of health problems, and deconstruction of the environment in comparison to non coal mining areas (Mclour 2008). In Mclour s study of miners lung , the quality of life is briefly covered and discussed. Due to the lack of studies on injuries and illnesses in the workplace, awareness of ... Spring Walk Farm, the name of which comes from the land and the spring by which they would have to walk to get to the barn, was established just north of Nashville in the late 1800s by William Wachtel. Bill and wife, Beverly, to whom he was married in 1963, moved into the main farmhouse when their children were young. Originally, William Wachtel milked all his Guernsey cows by hand. It was Floyd who introduced portable milkers, which were carted from stall to stall, with milk captured in buckets transported by hand to cans stored in a cooler in the milk house. By this time, the number of cows milked on the farm had doubled. In the 1950s, a milking parlor was constructed and it s in there, with pipelines running from each stanchion to bulk tanks, the milk makes its way to await transfer into a cooler truck, which will haul it away. Your friend asks you if this dress looks cute on her, and you say ooo yes girl it looks great . But, you think it does not look that good on her. You said that to protect her feelings. That is one example of how telling a white lie is not that bad. People also tell white lies for happy occasions too, like a surprise party. Lying can also get you out of a situation. Archbishop Desmond Tutu was one of these people and Doc 7 showed a 1984 speech to the United Nations Security Council where he addressed the possibility of a new society for all people in South Africa. 1984 was the year P.W. Botha became president and began his police state and South Africa was still yet to see the worst atrocities of the Apartheid struggle. Tutu believed that the only reason the whites in South Africa were cruel to the blacks was because they were scared; they were outnumbered and after the ancestors of the white population had fought against the natives for decades their fear was only reinforced through stories of the barbaric Africans. They were also scared that if given the opportunity the blacks would drive them out of South Africa and out of their land of birth. Tutu suggested a new nation in which all people were equal as they were created in the image of god and where the government was truly democratic. Because Desmond Tutu had lived through the entire period of Apartheid and was a leader of the back christian community in South Africa he would have seen and understood the feelings the people of South Africa had toward Apartheid. He would have also strived to implicate Christian beliefs of equality back into the hearts of the white people and end the use of violence. One year before Desmond Tutu s speech a new political party formed called the United Democratic Front. This party was a non racial and anti Apartheid organization which specifically opposed the Tricameral parliament which allowed coloured and asian south Africans minimal representation while the black population was still excluded. • 14. Summary Of Rent Seeking And The Making Of An Unequal... Ninety Nine Percent Supporting and Rooting for the One Percent In today s society, the rich get richer and the poorer get poorer. Why is it that our land of opportunity society is so filled with so much inequality? The poor are often the ones with losses. According to Joseph E. Stiglitz, the author of Rent Seeking And The Making Of An Unequal Society , individuals of society are made to believe that: The poor, in this land of opportunity, have only themselves to blame. Millions of individuals in our society are losing jobs daily, but the one percent of the top class is not losing their jobs. As a result of this inequality, an egocentric and a society filled with inequality has formed. In Robert Thurman s essay, Wisdom , Thurman claims that a society filled with inequality is formed as a result of giving importance to the self. However this claim can be falsified by comparing it to the text by Martha Stout, When I Woke up Tuesday Morning, It Was Friday . In Martha Stout s text her patient, Julia is extremely successful. Along with her successes Julia does not give much importance to her self. Julia often disassociates from reality is unsure of her self, so she cannot give much importance to her self. The fascination of the sphinx and the questioning of the pyramids have typically led archeologists to devote their time and efforts into unraveling the mysteries and figuring out the ways of the Egyptian culture. However, some may argue that the alluring aspect of the Ancient Egyptian history and culture is mummification. Some people bury their dead in the ground so that their soul can carry on to heaven while their body turns to dust. Others chose to burn the body and reduce it to ashes that are either kept in memorial or are dispersed. These two mathematicians had different concepts of the logarithms and its present use today. Both Napier and Burgi invented logarithms in order to simplify mathematical calculations. The other important contributor to the development of logarithms in 1614 was John Napier, a Scottish mathematician. His incentive was to help in the multiplication of sine quantities. The entire sine was the value of the side calculated of a right angle triangle with a large hypotenuse. In participation with the English mathematician Henry Briggs, Napier transformed his logarithm into its present day shape. The comparison of logarithms is between an L point moving consistently minus infinity, and an X point moving from zero towards infinity at a speed proportional to its distance from zero. Napier s discovery made a general relation between the arithmetic and geometric series; i.e., multiplication and rising to a power of the values of the X point correspond to addition and multiplication of the values of the L point, respectively (John Napier and logarithms 2016). For instance, in order to limit the L and X motion, the requirement is that L=1 at X=10, additionally to that condition that X=1 at L=0. With this in mind we can see that to Daoist the human body is viewed as a collection of the cosmic energy qi (Kuhn, 2). Qi, is the fundamental energy at life s source. From the tenth edition of the course book We the People, Texas Ed. by Benjamin Ginsberg and Unit 2 of the lecture; a policy developed by the efforts of the late philosopher and economist, Adam Smith, laissez faire economics essentially means that the government should play a basal role in government. Previously the data was maximum considered in gigabytes but nowadays data is generated in Terabytes to Petabytes and sometime in future it will reach to Zettabytes which huge volume of data if we consider social industry and if take other industry like finance where the data makes a big difference like the stock market which is globally hundreds of stock exchanges there are other data like company s fundamental data, this is also generating GB/TB of data in volume which is collectively in TB/PB. Variety Other than volume if we consider there is another characteristic with the BigData which is variety that is the data generated is structured, semi structured and unstructured. Structured data is any data which can be stored, accessed and processed in fixed format like tables etc. UnStructured Data is any data with unknown form or structure like audio files, video files and images etc. Processing of this unstructured data is difficult. • 41. The Roles Of Children And Youth Actors Essay Theatre feels like it is fading away from relevancy. Often times, theatre is dismissed at all levels, whether it is from just community theatre or reserved for in laws and tourists. This means that theatre has got two options. It will either become a completely rigid institution that loses its force and relevance, or it needs to change and be able to become a powerful voice again. I think that what the theatreneeds is already available and in the theatre, but not used correctly. I feel that children are some of the most important aspects of theatre and are overlooked because of archetypal child stars. Now, this does not mean I endorse productions like Rent adapted for high schools or having twelve year old s performing Spurt of Blood. Those sorts of plays are not appropriate and should be performed by adults. However, that also means that they should be limited to Annie. I think that children and youth actors are so beneficial because they offer the commitment, creativity, willingness, and camaraderie that is needed to change theatre into an influential strength. Children in the theatre have a lot of flaws. It is something that is impossible to overlook, so it must be acknowledged. They do not always have the willpower not to look for family members in the audience or grab at costume pieces that are uncomfortable. If it is a play that s cast is primarily children, they can quickly become rowdy and run rampant backstage. When in the audience, they can become bored and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. The Marshmallow Effect Marshmallow Effect Scientists often attribute adaptive and goal directed human behavior to an intellectual control system that organizes, monitors, and alters the settings of lower level perceptive processes. This allows people to suppress or replace impulsive, habitual, or inappropriate actions. The Marshmallow Effect is an experiment conducted by psychologist Walter Mischel in the 1970 s to study self control in children (Walter, 2013). This experiment is a simple but effective when it comes to the modern study of the human ability to delay gratification. The studies are about achievement situations and what influences a child to reach his or her choice. The ability to delay gratification has commonly been seen in large part as an issue... • 44. The Montgomery Bus December 1, 1955 was a day that I will never forget because it marks the anniversary of the Montgomery bus incident. On that date, I had gotten on a city bus to head home after a long day working at the tailor shop, and I was later arrested. At this point, my mind was focused on why equality is deserved and how I should defend my spot on the bus. I had been sitting in a seat in the back half of the bus where I was supposed to go. During a certain point in the ride home, there had been an excess amount of people getting on compared to the usual 5 10 passengers. Therefore, some of us blacks had been told to give up our seats to the white peoplewho deserved it more. Me, being African American was one of the lucky ones who was told to let... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was a normal day, and I was at work until I had to go. Then everything took a turn once I had sat down on the bus and was asked to give up my seat to a more deserving person than I. The way I reacted was by deciding that standing up for myself was the best way to go. So, I stayed on the bus until the bus driver had called the police to come and get me. They eventually had shown up to where I was on the bus and handcuffed me, and I was then arrested sitting in a cop car. At the start of the day, I had foreseen a nice, normal day without having big problems to worry about such as this one. As soon as this had all happened, and I was arrested and put in jail, my whole day was turned around. This being said, jail was a very different experience compared to everyday normal routines. It was so isolated, and you were put in a cell with very little places to sit or things to do. Jail was not a place I would call nice, but once you re there, you start to think about what you did to end up there in the first place. Even with those thoughts, I still had the gut feeling, wondering why segregation was a rule that had to be made. The idea of separating people for the color of their skin was just a way of discriminating race against people. Many African Americans were living in poverty and ended up in desperate need for simple, everyday items because they weren t allowed to have good jobs to pay for those costs. I myself grew up in a family where everyone, no matter what the age, as long as you could walk and talk, had to work a job to earn money. There were times in my life, when my family and I barely had enough to keep our house. This just goes to show that everyone matters, and nobody should have to live in ... • 45. Np Role Tara Butts Georgia College and State University The role of the Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the U.S. is one that has undergone numerous changes over past years. When the first NP program was developed in 1965 at the University of Colorado by a pediatrician by the name of Henry Silver and a master s prepared public health nurse by the name of Loretta Ford, the role was primarily meant to train nurses to provide care to poor, rural, children in Colorado. (Joel, 2013) By the 1970 s, it was clear that the NP could fill the country s need for healthcare providers and the number of programs providing NP education rose to 178 by 1977. (Joel, 2013) At this point in time there were no clear guidelines in regard to curriculum and evaluation standards, that is until the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners was developed in 1985, bringing with it an abundance of political support for the NP role. The National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) has set forth core NP competencies in which all NP program curriculums are based upon. • 46. Dumpster Diving Summary Lars Eighner begins by recalling a time from before he began to dumpster dive as an attempt to reveal to his readers that his fondness for garbage cans was not something forced upon him. He quickly transitions to the time when he began to dumpster dive and describes the overall experience of it. Once he has completed his general description, the essay takes a detailed turn into what dumpster divingthrough the years has taught him: everything from determining good food from the bad, how wasteful students in college can be, making sure drinks are safe, the stages a beginning dumpsterdiver goes through (self disgust, curiosity, realization, and possibly the dangerous hoarding), and how dumpster diving has a hand in gained weight.
