Book Of Esther Summary
The book of Esther is a book of history that takes place in Persia around 464 BC to 495 BC. It is
a story of Gods redemptive plan using a courageous Jewish woman born Hadassah which means
hidden that is what she would become among the group of Persian women that was brought
before the Persian Emperor Xerxes so he could select his new queen. Xerxes had a Persian queen
Vashti whom he divorced because she disobeyed him and publicly. Xerxes was a careless a
foolish ruler who allowed his right hand man Haman to rein and rule the kingdom without
overseeing his affairs himself. Now there was young Jewish orphan who was raised by her cousin
Mordecai a servant to the king. When news spread that all beautiful women be brought before the
king. Mordecai... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One day as Mordecai was passing by Haman he did not bow this angered Haman. Knowing
Mordecai was a Jew, Haman sought to kill all the Jews in Persia. He persuaded the king to pass a
law to genocide of all the Jews in the land. Mordecai sent word to Esther go into the presence of
the king to plead with him on behalf of her people. Mordecai and Hamman pass by each other in
the streets Mordecai refuses to bow this enrages Hamman. He ordered special gallows to be
built in which to hang Mordecai by. Earlier Mordecai had learned of plot by Hamman to kill the
king he informed Queen Esther who informed the authorities. One evening the king had
requested that the kingdom events be read to him this is where he learns of the unsung hero.
The next day when Hamman came to visit the king concerning his plans for Mordecai. The
inquired of Hamman what he should do to for a man he wanted to honor. Hamman answered the
question with a proud an puffed up response because he perceived it was him to be honored. The
queen had prepared a second feast for king and Hamman was invited it was there Esther told the
king of Hamman plan to kill her and her people. The king was so enraged that he ordered Hamman

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Singlehood
Singlehood, which is defined as the state of being single and especially unmarried, is a rapidly
increasing relationship state in America. In fact, Statistics show that the 102 million single
people in the country make up about 44 percent of the entire population and those numbers are
steadily rising, (Garder, 2013). Though depending on what type of environment a person grew
up in, they may think being single is a waste or a sad situation, but they re just unaware of the
benefits of that type of life. Based on both research and my personal experiences I can conclude
that singlehood, while it may have its drawbacks, can defiantly benefit people in many ways.
While most teenage girls would beg to differ with the particular insight of the advantages of
being single outweighing the disadvantages, they cannot argue with the facts. There are a
number of studies that have found that being single can actually contribute to success in many
parts of one s life. For one, people who are single tend to stay in touch with their families and
socialize with the neighbors more than married people do and it s said that they also get the
most out of life. A great deal of single people stated that they feel as if their life has been a
continuous process of learning, changing, and growth and that they think it is important to have
new experiences that challenge how you think about yourself and the world. When comparing
that to the constant complaining and regret voiced by married individuals, one can t really help
but admit which situation is preferable. Singlehood also gives an individual more time to
accomplish personal tasks, such as shopping, volunteering or merely relaxing after a long day at
work. Single people aren t, for lack of a better word, chained down, to anyone, so if they need to
spend more time focus on their career or personal enjoyment, they can. Due to this, single people
usually do become more successful and productive in their jobs because they don t have to
stress or compromise the quality of their work as those who have a partner or family do. These
individuals are also able to manage their money more carefully and when they only have their own
expenses to worry about, it s easier to get ahead of bills

Male Gaze In The Gaze
The gaze is an important part of any literary work in that it defines the viewpoint from which the
reader sees the rest of the story. The gaze, however, is also much more than a particular point of
view. It is a conveyance of power, and a way in which a narrator is able to completely shape the
way readers understand other characters in the story, imparting their own standards and beliefs onto
an often unrealizing audience. The gazehas a very clear relation to power in the sense that it is
what shapes how an audience sees certain things. An example of this is through the institution of
white supremacy in media via the gaze of the mass media in the mid 20th century. As Bell Hooks
explains, when black people in the United States first had the... Show more content on

Whether it be the console game or the video, the gaze conveys the same image: the woman is an
object, there for the male to act upon, but without any input onto her surroundings of her own.
Let us take, for example, the role of Mary Jane in the Spiderman franchise. This is especially
important because Spiderman is primarily marketed towards a younger audience, thus imparting
the male gaze upon young people who may never realize that they are being influenced. Mary Jane
is the object of affection of not only Spiderman, but also of Harry Osborn, who becomes the villain
Green Goblin.
Here, we see Mary Jane as the object of desire for both hero and villain, and is subsequently
captured and used to lure the hero into battle, where Spiderman must come to her rescue and save
the day. And then, once rescued, of course, Mary Jane falls for her heroic savior, despite the
obvious danger that his existence has placed her in throughout the course of the tale. But think, for
a minute, what things would be like if they were portrayed from the female gaze, by way of Mary
Jane. The story would be entirely different, with the men involved all becoming villains in their own

Coral Ocean Warfare Research Paper
A New Breed of Warfare a New Breed of Tactics World War II brought some of the most dramatic
changes in naval warfare. New technology such as aircraft have been modified for air to air and
air to land combat. Battle ships are more powerful than ever and a new vessel, the aircraft
carrier, bring a whole new element to the battle field. The battle of Coral Sea stopped the
Japanese offence and was the first ever aircraft carrier battle. In the Battle of the Coral Sea, the
allies used experimental tactics in offence, defense, and intelligence. The Allies in the battle of
Coral Sea used experimental tactics in offense. The use of the airplane brought about dive
bombers. Dive bombing is a plane that is armed with a bomb or torpedo on the underbelly of the
plane that s dives toward its target gaining speed and making a u like sweep towards the ship.

The fleet used a defensive weapon, a shell called flak. Flak was fired as a protective screen to
deter enemy pilots from coming closer to the fleet. When fired, the flak burst in the air
spreading shards of shrapnel, tearing up enemy fighters. Ships will fire this in a wide u
formation protecting their planes and carrier. Hoyt (1975, 61) quotes, The night was lit up like
the Fourth of July fireworks . . . star shells arcing across the fleet and tracers burning red and

The Negative Effects Of Urbanization
When we speak of the term urbanization the outward expansion of human population from the city
centre, many feel the sense of triumph about the current living conditions, and are enlightened to do
great works on the planet. Of course, it is not wrong if one feels this sense of triumph at first, but
the ambiguity comes when the environmental aspect is placed in the talk. In this capitalistic world
where money and status are worshiped, many negative effects associated with urbanization are
being forgotten or dismissed. Luckily, David Suzuki, a Canadian environmental activist reminds the
current generation about the danger of damaging the environment, as well as the intriguing wonders
that natureprovide, and most importantly that parents should encourage children to move away
from the indoors and enjoy the beauty of nature through his essay Hidden Lessons . I, however,
certainly do not experience much taste of triumphant over this matter. Undeniably, urbanization has
gifted me a comfortable home to live in, a reliable transportation to get around town, and a superb
education under the name of Agincourt Collegiate Institute. Yet, none of these would be available
if it weren t for the ultimate sacrifice of our wild friends on this planet. It overwhelms me when
Suzuki claims that there is something obscene and frightening about the disappearance of another
species at our hand in his essay (Suzuki). This is especially true over the past couple

In our view, sensors are the magic of the IoT. The sensor market is enormous, with Analog Devices
estimating it to approach $100 billion annually, much of which is not related to semiconductors at
all. The sensor market applicable to semiconductor vendors includes micro electromechanical
systems (MEMS) based sensors, optical sensors, ambient light sensors, gesture sensors, proximity
sensors, touch sensors, fingerprint sensors and more. These chips effectively detect changes in the
environment, creating the information that is ultimately transmitted via a wireless chip and
interpreted through application software to create an IoT solution. Sensors or sensornetworks (Smart

The major application for automotive MEMS is for sensing when to deploy airbags. In this
market MEMS sensors are replacing sensors such as fiber optic gyroscopes and ring laser
gyroscopes. Additional applications are in electronics stability control, tire pressure measurement
and, going forward, using the sensor to track location while in a structure such as a parking garage
where a GPS signal cannot reach.
Of course air deployment is not really something that can be categorized as part of the Internet
of Things. However, the connected car seems to be a reality that is approaching rapidly. Once
the car is connected to the Internet via one of the wireless technologies mentioned here or one
that is coming specifically for automobiles, and software like iOS or Android gets installed, we
expect the car to see a significant increase in the use of the sensor information. For example, the
MEMS sensor could indicate that a tire is flat and then with location based services, a nearby
garage could be suggested. Similarly, the adoption of MEMS into the car to determine position
while satellites cannot reach the GPS can also be used to tie into location based services. Also,
airbag deployment and associated g force readings from the MEMS accelerometer taken during a
car crash could send a signal to local emergency services to send police and an ambulance. The six
year CAGR forecast for MEMS sensors in the

Black Lives Matter Controversy
In recent years, there has been a variety of events that have occurred which caused people to
realize the inequality that still happens in modern day society. Between gay marriage becoming
legal in 2015 and the recent presidential election, there have been many situations that have
caused a form of division between the people of the United States. A major group that has shed
some light on the inequality that occurs in modern day society is the Black Lives Matter
(BLM) movement. The BLM website states that this they label themselves as a group of 50+
organizations that have come together with a renewed purpose to spread a common vision and
agenda. Although many people view them as a great step toward furthering equality amongst all
people, there is a select group of people who disagree. The Black Lives matter website also states
that their common vision is to continue to move towards a world in which the full humanity and
dignity of all people is recognized. While doing this, BLM also intends to include other groups of
people who experience oppression. Such as the LBGTQ community, women, Muslims, people who
were previously or currently undocumented and much more. One of the major arguments of the
Black Lives Matter movement is to end the war on black people. There have been many situations
in the last two years that have been brought to light through both social media and news
broadcasting as well. The events that are causing a wide controversy between set

When it comes to being a parent there are many ways a parent can raise their child or children, for
example there are four types of parenting styles which are authoritative, authoritarian, permissive,
and uninvolved. The authoritative parent are characterized by having reasonable demands and high
responsiveness. Authoritative parents are strict on their children, but they are very loving,
warming, and supportive towards their children by listening to their child opinions, encouraging
independence, expressing warmth and nurturance, and encouraging their child to discuss options.
(Reference: Rathus S.A. (2014).Psych.GengaqeLearning) Authoritarian parents are like

Permissive parents are the easy going parent that usually spoil their children by never saying no to
their child or always give in to their child demand. The permissive parent generally let their child
do whatever he or she wants because this type of parenting style usually try to avoid confrontation
situation, and also this style of parenting lacks communication with their child and the parent
rarely, if ever discipline their child. (Reference: Rathus S.A. (2014).Psych.GengaqeLearning) The
uninvolved parent are basically not involved with their children and the uninvolved parent usually
do not show little or no concern for their children which lead to the child doing poorly in school
and the child is more likely to be involved in criminal

3.4LITHIUM NICKEL MANGANESE OXIDE or LNM (LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 ):
The Lithium Nickel Manganese oxide battery is still in its experimental stages. It consists of a
25% nickel substituted in a LiMn2O4 spinel. This is because Manganese will have 4 electrons in
its valence shell which will avoid the Jahn Teller distortion caused due to the Mn3+. Due to the
oxidation or reduction of Nickel ions which leads to the transfer of electrons which corresponds to
electric current. LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 takes shape in two conceivable crystallographic structures
concurring the cationic sub lattice: the face focused spinel (S.G. Fd3m) named as cluttered spinel
furthermore, the straightforward cubic stage (S.G. P4332) named as requested spinel . This

The doping iron increases the capacity of batteries, but this diminishes with extensive cycling. The
detrimental effect of iron can be avoided by annealing. Ruthenium is another transition metal which
can be used as a dopant which enhances the stability of the crystal structure. It also increases
conductivity and improve performance of the battery. Chromium is another transition metal that can
be used as a dopant. It reduces the ordering of lithium ions in LiMn2O4 spinel and this stabilizes the
spinel structure. It also increases capacity retention during cycling. Zinc is used as a dopant in
cathode materials as it has a stabilizing effect on the crystal structure. Addition of Zinc oxide also
prevents reaction between the electrode and electrolyte. Titanium along with cobalt also acts as a
stabilizer and also reduces dissolution of electrodes. Zirconium reduces reactivity levels between
the electrode and the electrolyte and performs the same function as titanium by stabilizing the
crystal structure. Aluminium is one of the most commonly used dopants in cathode materials. It
performs the function of increasing capacity of the electrodes. The addition of aluminium improves
electrode kinetics, structural modifications and microstructural effects. Some of the other dopants
include Magnesium and Lathanum which increases the lattice parameter and improves the stability
of the crystal structure and also

A Study On The Sustainability Cluster Essay
At one point in life, one must decide on what one would like to do in their future. My studies
would focus on detail studies in the sustainability cluster. Nowadays, sustainability is a topic
which research is still maturing and design relative new. My research would emphasize in
ruralization of current urban cities that would help increase innovative design presented in urban
environment in Japan. Many major cities in the US and around the world have developed such
that much of the land has been converted into urbanized areas. With an estimated 3 million
people and greater living in those urban areas, people have exhausted the land usage and have no
choice but to rely on high rise buildings. Many modern architects and landscape architects focus
their careers on trying to create sustainable cities, but are still limited by the maximum space they
can work with. Others emphasize in the incorporation of biophilic medium to solve the problem.
As land space in some countries are limited and most are reaching its capacities, architecture
should focus on innovating designs that can create an environment that would allow the people to
benefit from its agricultural and urban function. Many cities have become overpopulated, leading
to people to live in high rise complexes. Minimal spacious rooms are designed to accommodate
single families that reside in many urban cities. Families of three or four members settle to dwell
in rooms where the size is compared to those of a single living

How Is Beowulf And Grendel Alike
Beowulf is an old Anglo Saxon story of a terrifying monster Grendel, Grendel travels to the
Danes mead hall Heorot and while the danes expect it least he attacks killing countless men
purely for the joys of doing so. Hrothgar king of the Danes calls for a warrior to fight this unruly
beast. After 12 long years of grendelattacking Hrothgar s calls are answered and the great warrior
Beowulfcomes to killGrendel. Beowulf travels to the land of the Danes from across the seas and
in the first night he kills Grendel. Sadly for Beowulf Grendel has a mother that now seeks
revenge for her son s death and Beowulf is asked to kill Grendel s mother as well. Beowulf goes to

In the beginning of the story the plot stays the same for the most part... other than Beowulf being
motivated by other things than glory or pride. When Grendel is killed in the movie they
introduce his mother, they don t show her face but they hint to her being very seductive by the
way she talks. Grendel s mom doesn t really seek revenge in the movie but Hrothgar asks
Beowulf to kill her because of a prior incident (Grendel is actually Hrothgar s son) with Grendel
s mom. Beowulf obliges and goes to kill G s mom but when he enter her den he is almost
instantly taken away by her beauty, this causes Beowulf to have a lapse in judgement and
impregnate G s mom. This is very different from the book because in the book he kills G s mom
in a battle to the death then cuts the head off of Grendel s dead body as illustrated Armless,
exactly as that fierce fighter had sent him out from Herot, then struck off His head with a single
swift blow (542). Also after Beowulf was seduced he goes back to Hrothgar and lies to him and
the Danes saying that he has killed Grendel s mother. This is the major plot difference in the
movie and the book. The overall theme/message is also different from the book to the movie.
For example in the book the book the theme is good vs. evil, Beowulf being good and Grendel
being. This however is not the case in the movie, the theme in the movie is more like don t cheat
on your spouse and don t lie to the people you rule or else it will come back to haunt you. This
quite the difference, but I believe the writers of the movie did this to make a point or to send a
message to the people watching

Capital Structure theories
Capital Structure Theories
Capital Structure
Capital Structure is the proportion of debt, preference and equity capitals in the total financing of
the firm s assets. The main objective of financial management is to maximize the value of the equity
shares of the firm. Given this objective, the firm has to choose that financing mix/capital structure
that results in maximizing the wealth of the equity shareholders. Such a capital structure is called
as the optimum capital structure. At the optimum capital structure, the weighted average cost of
capital would be the minimum. The capital structure decision influences the value of the firm
through its cost of capital and can affect the share of the earnings that pertain to the equity ... Show

This approach also says that the overall cost of capital is independent of the degree of leverage.
Features of NOI approach:
1. At all degrees of leverage (debt), the overall capitalization rate would remain constant. For a
given level of Earnings before Interest and Taxes (EBIT), the value of a firm would be equal to
EBIT/overall capitalization rate.
2. The value of equity of a firm can be determined by subtracting the value of debt from the total
value of the firm. This can be denoted as follows:
Value of Equity = Total value of the firm Value of debt
3. Cost of equity increases with every increase in debt and the weighted average cost of capital
(WACC) remains constant. When the debt content in the capital structure increases, it increases the
risk of the firm as well as its shareholders. To compensate for the higher risk involved in investing in
highly levered company, equity holders naturally expect higher returns which in turn increases the
cost of equity capital.
Example:
Let us assume that a firm has an EBIT level of $50,000, cost of debt 10%, the total value of debt
$200,000 and the WACC is 12.5%. Let us find out the total value of the firm and the cost of equity
capital (the equity capitalization rate).
Solution:
EBIT

Reflective Essay On Spiritual Disciplines
Throughout the semester I have developed an understanding for the spiritual disciplines; silence,
solitude, and Sabbath; which has taught me how to live an intention Christ centered life. The
disciplines have not only helped my personal daily life, but they have also helped me better
understand Christ himself. I can, without a doubt, say that I know that Godgave us the gifts of
spiritual disciplines to help guide us in the crazy culture we live in. I have gained a new
appreciation for the maker of our world as He has gone out of His way to love on us, and all He
asks us in return to practice disciplines and grow closer to him. The disciplines have have taught
me that seeking God is about more than just saying a prayer before bed. Instead, it is practicing
the disciplines and seeing His faithfulness through the actions. My practice of silence has taught
me that the world is a loud place full of so many distractions. This specific practice has helped
me seek God, in a deep way, by committing to listening to him in silence rather than wondering
why I could never here him in the midst of the crowds. My practice of solitude has become a sort
of Bible study time for me. A time to be alone and remember all the good our King has done and
will continue to do for us. My practice of Sabbath has helped me start of each week with a positive
outlook. Surprisingly it has also given me a deeper understanding of academics as well as it forces

In 1917, Susan Glaspell rewrote her 1916 Play, Trifles, into a short story called A Jury of her
Peers. They both depict a group of townspeople investigating the murder of Mr. Wright. It is
suspected that Mrs. Minnie Wright, his wife, is the murderer. As the story goes on, the women in
the group figure out she committed the murder but decide to hide evidence to keep her from being
convicted. Susan Glaspellwrote a short story titled A Jury of her Peers mirroring a previous play
that she had written titled Trifles. There are slight changes and variations between these two that
make them surprisingly different. By comparing the characters point of view, the way the story is
introduced, and the plot we can point out key differences between... Show more content on

The titles of the two help set up the point of view that particular story is going to be told in. The
story named A Jury of Her Peers was named that because Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters, her peers,
basically decided the fate of Minnie. They both decided not to turn in the evidence and, in doing
so, more than likely kept her out of prison. The term jury used in the title is appropriate because
the whole story is depicting a group of townspeople who are investigating the murder scene to
decide her fate. Typically, a group of people deciding someone s fate is called a jury. In the play
,
Trifles, Mr. Hale states that women are constantly worrying over trifles (Glaspell 561). Yet, these
are the same trifles that if the men paid attention to they would be able to get plenty of evidence
against Minnie. The introductions to the stories are also very different, in the story it starts way
before they get to Mrs. Wrights house. It actually starts at Mr. and Mrs. Hales house as the
sheriff s buggy stops to pick them up. This allows us to get a feel for the relationships between
each of the characters. It also allows us to understand why the women are there in the first place,
the sheriffs wife, Mrs. Peters, is there to get some of Mrs. Wrights things for her, and Mrs. Hale
is there simply to keep Mrs. Peters company. It states, and then the sheriff came running in to say
his wife wished Mrs. Hale would come too adding, with a grin, that he guessed she was getting
scarey and wanted another woman along (Glaspell 568). The story also gives a very descriptive
view of the Mrs. Wrights home, and namely her kitchen. This differs greatly from the play in the
fact that the only description of the setting that we get in the beginning of the play is a short scene
description before the character dialogue starts. There is no information to connect the characters in

Personal Narrative-A Beer Me
A Beer please. I recited to the bartender, sliding into a creaky old stool. I kept going over

Comparing The Final Girl In Psycho And A Nightmare On Elm...
Lastly, the use of the final girl in both films are very different. In Psycho, Hitchcock uses both
Marion and Lila as his final girls. Though both hold different characteristic traits, and one character
dies early in the film, Hitchcock also has a male character save the final girl against the villain
rather than having her face him alone. This differentiates against the filmA Nightmare on Elm
Street because Nancy finds her inner demons and faces Freddy Krueger alone in her dreams. She
not only grows the strength to put her fears aside but she kills him with the satisfaction that he
finally means nothing to her and that he is worthless. Craven s depiction of the final girl is much
more closely related to how this character is portrayed in slasher films now a days.
As for the similarities, both films hold a similar storyline. There is a group of young adults who are

The Philosophy Of Quality Management
1.0 Introduction
Quality management is defined as management activities and functions involved in determination
of quality policy and its implementation through means such as quality planning and quality
assurance (including quality control), which also called total quality management (TQM) (Business
Dictionary). Total Quality Management(TQM) is a comprehensive and structured approach to
organizational management that seeks to improve the quality of products and services through
ongoing refinements in response to continuous feedback. (Search CIO)
Philosophy of quality management
W Edwards Deming placed great importance and responsibility on management, at both the
individual and company level, believing management to be responsible for 94% of quality
problems. His fourteen point plan is a complete philosophy of management, that can be applied to
small or large organizations in the public, private or service sectors. (Deming, 2000). Deming s

Eukaryotic Chemotaxis Lab Report
Delving into the Process of Eukaryotic Chemotaxis The mechanism in which cells move either
towards, or away from a stimulus is referred to as chemotaxis (1). Chemotaxis is initiated in
eukaryotic cells when the cells first sense an external chemotactic gradient (2). The presence of
this gradient is sensed by a class of receptors, called 7 transmembrane heterotrimeric G protein
coupled receptors (GPCRs) (2). As the name implies, these proteins are located in the plasma
membrane of eukaryotic cells. This external gradient triggers an intracellular Phosphatidylinositol
(3,4,5) trisphosphate (PIP3) gradient to form (2). PIP3 is a phospholipid that is located in the
plasma membrane of eukaryotic cells (3). This PIP3 gradient induces a signaling... Show more

mirrored by neutrophils, which extend pseudopodia rhythmically towards positive chemotactic

Sweatshops Argumentative Essay
Thanksgiving Day dinner is a time for family celebration, but also a time for discussion, which
often seems to lead into a debate (at least in my family). However, when cousin Steve and Aunt
Jenny are having this argument, it s hard to determine a clear winner because the morality of
international trade and outsourcing is complex and often times inconclusive. There are great
benefits and costs to society and this topic needs to be looked at through all lenses. One of the
more heated debates regarding free tradeis sweatshops. I would generally define sweatshops as a
business that due to lack of respect, places employees in hazardous and unhealthy conditions for

Business are constantly compelled to cut costs, increase revenues, and overall increase the value
and profit of the company. Relocating production sites to non industrialized regions proves to be
cost effective for these companies due to the significantly lower labor costs, the ability to better
transport products to global markets, and the considerable lack of labor laws compared to the
United States. This drastic cut of expenses makes it much easier for businesses to charge less for
their products due to the large profit margin. Furthermore, some of these underdeveloped nations
need more jobs coming into the country to help boost their economy. Although international
workers are being paid significantly less than Americans, their jobs in these sweatshops provide
a steady income for their families. For instance, in Honduras the average sweatshop worker earns
about $13 a day whereas agricultural farmers live off of $2 per day (The World Counts, 2018).

We can also see the use of black shades to create a hole at the bottom part of the rock. With his
excellent use of colors, we can identify the good, healthy and green grass from the bad,

separate the sky from the land in the background creating a solid form of perspective on the
painting. He also uses colors to create water forms as seen behind the young character. Now, for
the sky, he uses shades of white to magnificently differentiate the thick clouds from the light

Evolution Of Physical Discipline In The United States
Ninety five percent of all toddlers in the United States have been physically disciplined at some
point in their short lives (Magnuson, Waldfogel, 2005). There exists a conflicting message from our
country s systems around how we protect and rear our children. Physical forms of discipline
including, hitting or slapping, spanking, hitting with an object, or other forms of physical contact
[for behaviormodification] (Magnuson, Waldfogel, 2005, p. 178), are not allowed in non parental

Forehand and McKinney (1993) believe that US families are still floating around in this ocean
of uncertainty around discipline today. Looking at this evolution more in depth, parents relied
heavily on religion to guide their attitudes and discipline behaviors in the 1700 s. As God fearing
Puritans, it was paramount that children honored and obeyed their parents so as not to face the
wrath of god and be sent to Hell. In defense of their children s mortal souls, parents and
communities utilized severe forms of physical discipline to modify behavior and punish
children. The beatings were often done in the center of town for all to see and children were
forced to divulge their negative behaviors and be publicly shamed. As many of the church s
teachings were geared toward obedience, this kind of extreme physical punishment was not only
accepted but expected. Physical discipline was mainly carried out by the father of the household
(Forehand, McKinney, 1993). People are creatures of their environment. Children were seen as
inherently evil and full of sin and so there were no agencies set up to study the development of
children or advocate for their rights. The beatings and public humiliation were seen as an act of
love and spiritual protection on the part of the parents. Perhaps the model of separating church and
state played a role in the dividing of the cultures and increase in child

Police Power In Achieving Justice In The Law Enforcement...
The criminal justice system is effective in achieving justice, in relations to police power and

California Budget Process
Introduction
The budget process is the most important aspect of fiscal decision making in Public Administration.
Smith and Lynch (2004), argues that Public budgeting is an activity that many people view from
their own perspectives and, thus, they do not comprehend the full complexity of budgeting (p. 34).
Similar to the contextual definition of complexity in budgeting process, a classic example was the
State of California s budget impasse for the year 2010 2011. This essay examines and analyses the
concerns that lead to passing a late budget in the State of California. It further goes into details
regarding the reasons, resolutions, and consequences faced due to the budget Impasse.

(2010), in the Associated Press also points out that It includes no tax or fee increases but uses a

Psychological Analysis Of The Sniper
The Sniper Analysis
War can bring many disastrous effects to countries, societies, the economy, and the mentality of
those involved in it. In The Sniper, the protagonist is a republican sniper trying to kill the sniper
on the opposing side of the the Irish civil war. At the end of the story the republican sniper
cleverly outsmarts the opposing sniper, unknowingly killing his brother. Liam O Flaherty s The
Sniper conveys the horrors of war not only by presenting its physical dangers, but also by showing
its psychological effects. The short story The Sniper presents to the reader with the physical
dangers of war. The story takes place in a civil war, where a country is essentially at war with
itself. In paragraph nine O Flaherty writes, The sniper raised his rifle and fire. The head fell
heavily on the turret wall. The woman darted toward the side street. The sniper fired again. The
woman whirled around and fell with a shriek into the gutter. The old woman who was shot by
the sniper was an informer for the opposing side. While she did not pose as a major hazard for
the sniper, he believed she was an imminent threat to his safety and kills the old woman. In
paragraph one of the story the author also writes, Here and there through the city, machine guns
and rifles broke through the silence of the night, spasmodically, like dogs barking on lone farms.
These paragraphs show how easily civilians are killed during war. An old woman who was an

College enrollment skyrocketed as a direct result of the expansion of financial aid programs.
Initially, the federal government s involvement was restricted to providing financial aid to veterans
pursuing higher education. By 1965, the federal government solidified its involvement within the
realm of student financial aid by enacting the Higher Education Act. Title IV of the Act provided
for a guaranteed loan program that carried with it the full promise of the U.S. government to repay

In recent years incidence of non melanoma skin cancer and actinic keratosis (AK) has increased.
The tumours are treated with the help of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, and topical therapies
to manage superficial carcinoma and actinic keratosis. This review briefs about skin physiology,
non melanoma skincancer, relationship between actinic keratosis(AK) and skin cancer, different
drugs used in dermal preparations for management of actinic keratosis and novel approaches for
targeting drugs to skin neoplasm and actinic keratosis are discussed.
Introduction :
Development of skin cancer is most commonly seen in Caucasian popoualtion(1) (Bradford PT.,
2009).Damage of DNA due to ultraviolet radiations lead to formation of such type of cancer.
Actinic keratosis (AK) is also called as Solar keratosis or Senail keratosis.
AK severs as a marker for an increase in nonmelanoma skin cancer (NMSC), even in the absence
of any specific lesion progression. The risk for progression of AK to invasive SCC with the
potential for metastasis provides the rationale for treatment(2) (Ibrahim and Brown, 2009). Early

Topical dosage forms deliver most of the drug locally with fewer side effects compared with other
routes of administration.

The World Trade Organization Trading System
In recent years, The World Trade Organization trading system has playing a significant role in
our nations. More and more nations have taken part in this organization for gaining a great
benefit from trading between nations. WTO looks itself as a system that helps trade to flow
smoothly and provide countries with a constructive and fair outlet for dealing with disputes over
trade issues (WTO, 2008). However, there is a drawback for this system such as it does not claim to
be a free market organization. According to the WTO, it is sometimes described as a free trade

Essay On Texas Legislature
Paying them only about $7,200 per year, Texas has what is known as a citizen legislature. They
work for 140+ days every other year(depending on whether or not a special session is called), and
have to try to get everything done in that limited amount of time. They do not get paid much, and
cannot rely on being a legislator for a steady source of income. They have to be someone that is
well off, have a flexible work schedule, and have other sources of income. Due to all of these
requirements, the Texaslegislature does not accurately reflect the demographics of the stateof Texas.

Women are even more underrepresented making up fifty percent of the population but only twenty
percent of the Texas Legislature. This difference in demographic makeup between the Texas
Legislature and its constituencies can cause problems because they may not accurately represent
the population of Texas. Different groups of people can have different ideologies, values, and needs
that may be left unaccounted for due to not having accurate representation. For example, issues on
women s health and laws protecting it are being decided by men. The problem with this is that they
do not have the same experiences and do not know exactly what the women require or need. There
are women in the Texas Legislature, but they are underrepresented to the point where they could
almost be ignored by their fellow male counterparts, that could easily outvote them in legislation
that has to do with things such as birth control or abortion that affect women directly. Another
problem with this is that they may also not take into account these minority groups, and push for
legislation that favors Anglo American males. The Texas Legislature only has 140 days to get
everything that they need to get done, and

However, this change was far more problematic to Russia that similar progress of western European
nations. An examination of the revolutionary period of 1905 presents the inevitability of such a

The former is the Russia of our intellectuals and of the people; the other is an anachronism, deeply
rooted in the past, and defended in the present by an omnipresent bureaucracy. The one spells
liberty; the other, despotism.
Throughout the history of Russia, its people have had the increasingly prevalent problem of
representation. The peasant commune was essentially the only bastion of representative
government in Russia. However, the peasant commune had little influence in any political forum
above that of the village or farming community. The divining difficulty of Russia in this period
was the power of Tsar Nicholas II. His ideals were rooted in the distant past of autocrats and
despots. Though he wished his nation to modernize in its production and industrialization
processes, he refused to accept political change. He continued to impose his will on a vast empire
of some 129 million people through a small imperial bureaucracy, which served at the sovereign s
pleasure. These ancient political views were circumspect in a nation attempting to modernize and
improve its status within the world community. Russian history has been characterized as an
enduring line of revolution and reaction. In efforts to maintain the power of the autocracy,

  • 3. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Singlehood Singlehood, which is defined as the state of being single and especially unmarried, is a rapidly increasing relationship state in America. In fact, Statistics show that the 102 million single people in the country make up about 44 percent of the entire population and those numbers are steadily rising, (Garder, 2013). Though depending on what type of environment a person grew up in, they may think being single is a waste or a sad situation, but they re just unaware of the benefits of that type of life. Based on both research and my personal experiences I can conclude that singlehood, while it may have its drawbacks, can defiantly benefit people in many ways. While most teenage girls would beg to differ with the particular insight of the advantages of being single outweighing the disadvantages, they cannot argue with the facts. There are a number of studies that have found that being single can actually contribute to success in many parts of one s life. For one, people who are single tend to stay in touch with their families and socialize with the neighbors more than married people do and it s said that they also get the most out of life. A great deal of single people stated that they feel as if their life has been a continuous process of learning, changing, and growth and that they think it is important to have new experiences that challenge how you think about yourself and the world. When comparing that to the constant complaining and regret voiced by married individuals, one can t really help but admit which situation is preferable. Singlehood also gives an individual more time to accomplish personal tasks, such as shopping, volunteering or merely relaxing after a long day at work. Single people aren t, for lack of a better word, chained down, to anyone, so if they need to spend more time focus on their career or personal enjoyment, they can. Due to this, single people usually do become more successful and productive in their jobs because they don t have to stress or compromise the quality of their work as those who have a partner or family do. These individuals are also able to manage their money more carefully and when they only have their own expenses to worry about, it s easier to get ahead of bills ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Male Gaze In The Gaze The gaze is an important part of any literary work in that it defines the viewpoint from which the reader sees the rest of the story. The gaze, however, is also much more than a particular point of view. It is a conveyance of power, and a way in which a narrator is able to completely shape the way readers understand other characters in the story, imparting their own standards and beliefs onto an often unrealizing audience. The gazehas a very clear relation to power in the sense that it is what shapes how an audience sees certain things. An example of this is through the institution of white supremacy in media via the gaze of the mass media in the mid 20th century. As Bell Hooks explains, when black people in the United States first had the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whether it be the console game or the video, the gaze conveys the same image: the woman is an object, there for the male to act upon, but without any input onto her surroundings of her own. Let us take, for example, the role of Mary Jane in the Spiderman franchise. This is especially important because Spiderman is primarily marketed towards a younger audience, thus imparting the male gaze upon young people who may never realize that they are being influenced. Mary Jane is the object of affection of not only Spiderman, but also of Harry Osborn, who becomes the villain Green Goblin. Here, we see Mary Jane as the object of desire for both hero and villain, and is subsequently captured and used to lure the hero into battle, where Spiderman must come to her rescue and save the day. And then, once rescued, of course, Mary Jane falls for her heroic savior, despite the obvious danger that his existence has placed her in throughout the course of the tale. But think, for a minute, what things would be like if they were portrayed from the female gaze, by way of Mary Jane. The story would be entirely different, with the men involved all becoming villains in their own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Negative Effects Of Urbanization When we speak of the term urbanization the outward expansion of human population from the city centre, many feel the sense of triumph about the current living conditions, and are enlightened to do great works on the planet. Of course, it is not wrong if one feels this sense of triumph at first, but the ambiguity comes when the environmental aspect is placed in the talk. In this capitalistic world where money and status are worshiped, many negative effects associated with urbanization are being forgotten or dismissed. Luckily, David Suzuki, a Canadian environmental activist reminds the current generation about the danger of damaging the environment, as well as the intriguing wonders that natureprovide, and most importantly that parents should encourage children to move away from the indoors and enjoy the beauty of nature through his essay Hidden Lessons . I, however, certainly do not experience much taste of triumphant over this matter. Undeniably, urbanization has gifted me a comfortable home to live in, a reliable transportation to get around town, and a superb education under the name of Agincourt Collegiate Institute. Yet, none of these would be available if it weren t for the ultimate sacrifice of our wild friends on this planet. It overwhelms me when Suzuki claims that there is something obscene and frightening about the disappearance of another species at our hand in his essay (Suzuki). Of course air deployment is not really something that can be categorized as part of the Internet of Things. However, the connected car seems to be a reality that is approaching rapidly. Once the car is connected to the Internet via one of the wireless technologies mentioned here or one that is coming specifically for automobiles, and software like iOS or Android gets installed, we expect the car to see a significant increase in the use of the sensor information. For example, the MEMS sensor could indicate that a tire is flat and then with location based services, a nearby garage could be suggested. Similarly, the adoption of MEMS into the car to determine position while satellites cannot reach the GPS can also be used to tie into location based services. My studies would focus on detail studies in the sustainability cluster. Nowadays, sustainability is a topic which research is still maturing and design relative new. My research would emphasize in ruralization of current urban cities that would help increase innovative design presented in urban environment in Japan. Many major cities in the US and around the world have developed such that much of the land has been converted into urbanized areas. With an estimated 3 million people and greater living in those urban areas, people have exhausted the land usage and have no choice but to rely on high rise buildings. Many modern architects and landscape architects focus their careers on trying to create sustainable cities, but are still limited by the maximum space they can work with. Others emphasize in the incorporation of biophilic medium to solve the problem. As land space in some countries are limited and most are reaching its capacities, architecture should focus on innovating designs that can create an environment that would allow the people to benefit from its agricultural and urban function. When Grendel is killed in the movie they introduce his mother, they don t show her face but they hint to her being very seductive by the way she talks. Grendel s mom doesn t really seek revenge in the movie but Hrothgar asks Beowulf to kill her because of a prior incident (Grendel is actually Hrothgar s son) with Grendel s mom. Beowulf obliges and goes to kill G s mom but when he enter her den he is almost instantly taken away by her beauty, this causes Beowulf to have a lapse in judgement and impregnate G s mom. This is very different from the book because in the book he kills G s mom in a battle to the death then cuts the head off of Grendel s dead body as illustrated Armless, exactly as that fierce fighter had sent him out from Herot, then struck off His head with a single swift blow (542). Also after Beowulf was seduced he goes back to Hrothgar and lies to him and the Danes saying that he has killed Grendel s mother. This is the major plot difference in the movie and the book. Capital Structure theories Capital Structure Theories Capital Structure Capital Structure is the proportion of debt, preference and equity capitals in the total financing of the firm s assets. The main objective of financial management is to maximize the value of the equity shares of the firm. Given this objective, the firm has to choose that financing mix/capital structure that results in maximizing the wealth of the equity shareholders. Such a capital structure is called as the optimum capital structure. At the optimum capital structure, the weighted average cost of capital would be the minimum. The capital structure decision influences the value of the firm through its cost of capital and can affect the share of the earnings that pertain to the equity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This approach also says that the overall cost of capital is independent of the degree of leverage. Features of NOI approach: 1. At all degrees of leverage (debt), the overall capitalization rate would remain constant. For a given level of Earnings before Interest and Taxes (EBIT), the value of a firm would be equal to EBIT/overall capitalization rate. 2. The value of equity of a firm can be determined by subtracting the value of debt from the total value of the firm. This can be denoted as follows: Value of Equity = Total value of the firm Value of debt 3. Cost of equity increases with every increase in debt and the weighted average cost of capital (WACC) remains constant. When the debt content in the capital structure increases, it increases the risk of the firm as well as its shareholders. To compensate for the higher risk involved in investing in highly levered company, equity holders naturally expect higher returns which in turn increases the cost of equity capital. Example: Let us assume that a firm has an EBIT level of $50,000, cost of debt 10%, the total value of debt $200,000 and the WACC is 12.5%. Let us find out the total value of the firm and the cost of equity capital (the equity capitalization rate). Solution: EBIT ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The titles of the two help set up the point of view that particular story is going to be told in. The story named A Jury of Her Peers was named that because Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters, her peers, basically decided the fate of Minnie. They both decided not to turn in the evidence and, in doing so, more than likely kept her out of prison. The term jury used in the title is appropriate because the whole story is depicting a group of townspeople who are investigating the murder scene to decide her fate. Typically, a group of people deciding someone s fate is called a jury. In the play , Trifles, Mr. Hale states that women are constantly worrying over trifles (Glaspell 561). Yet, these are the same trifles that if the men paid attention to they would be able to get plenty of evidence against Minnie. The introductions to the stories are also very different, in the story it starts way before they get to Mrs. Wrights house. It actually starts at Mr. and Mrs. Hales house as the sheriff s buggy stops to pick them up. This allows us to get a feel for the relationships between each of the characters. It also allows us to understand why the women are there in the first place, the sheriffs wife, Mrs. Peters, is there to get some of Mrs. Wrights things for her, and Mrs. Hale is there simply to keep Mrs. Peters company. It states, and then the sheriff came running in to say his wife wished Mrs. Hale would come too adding, with a grin, that he guessed she was getting scarey and wanted another woman along (Glaspell 568). The story also gives a very descriptive view of the Mrs. Wrights home, and namely her kitchen. This differs greatly from the play in the fact that the only description of the setting that we get in the beginning of the play is a short scene description before the character dialogue starts. Looking at this evolution more in depth, parents relied heavily on religion to guide their attitudes and discipline behaviors in the 1700 s. As God fearing Puritans, it was paramount that children honored and obeyed their parents so as not to face the wrath of god and be sent to Hell. In defense of their children s mortal souls, parents and communities utilized severe forms of physical discipline to modify behavior and punish children. The beatings were often done in the center of town for all to see and children were forced to divulge their negative behaviors and be publicly shamed. As many of the church s teachings were geared toward obedience, this kind of extreme physical punishment was not only accepted but expected. Physical discipline was mainly carried out by the father of the household (Forehand, McKinney, 1993). People are creatures of their environment. Children were seen as inherently evil and full of sin and so there were no agencies set up to study the development of children or advocate for their rights.
