Human Resources And Human Resource Practices
Regardless of the size of a business or whether it is a multi million dollar software
distributor or a productive trucking company, there is one thing that most all
companies have in common. Every company needs to have efficient human resource
practices. According to Mayhew (n.d.), human resources plays an essential role in
developing a company s strategy as well as handling the employee centered activities
of an organization (para. 1). If the employees are the backbone of an organization then
the human resource department is the brain stem. It can be the glue that holds an
organization together, or the hammer that breaks the organization apart. There are
many issues that companies face when dealing with human resources. Things such as
payroll disputes and disgruntled employees are fairly common, but for the most
part they are easy to overcome. The major issue that companies have to face when
it comes to human resources is a double edged sword. It is both a blessing and a
hindrance at times. This issue is how to handle the ever changing diversity within the
organization. In order to be a successful human resource department of an
organization that treats their diverse workforce in a fair and equal manner, one must
first understand how the workforce demographics are changing, what problems may
arise due to these changes, and how to overcome these problems. It is a delicate
dance that must be done on a daily basis.

Managing And Securing Unstructured Data
With a massive growth in Internet, there has been an enormous increase in the
amount of information generated and shared in social networking sites and across
various industries. This has led to storing and access issues with regards to
unstructured data.
Firstly understanding what unstructured data is of primary importance before trying
to handle it. In simple terms unstructured data can be understood as data that can t be
stored in the form of rows and columns. It can be anything including email files, text
documents, presentations, image and video files.
Studies carried out by IDC and EMC forecasts that data will grow to 40 zettabyes (1
ZB = 1 billion TB). As of now more than 80% of all stored data in organizations is
unstructured and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also backup and restore will take a lesser time
Major disadvantage is that storing unstructured data will significantly increase the
size of databases which will lead to more time for backup and restore of these
databases and can cause performance issues with I/O subsystems
The big disadvantage of this approach is that we have to create and maintain manual
links between database and external file system files which can potentially go out of
sync. Also since data is stored outside the system the backups are not consistent and
unstructured data is not a part of the transaction.
Hybrid Approach: To overcome the disadvantages of the methods discussed above,
another method was the Hybrid Approach, which proposes Database engine to
support a new data type filestream . Filestram help consolidates the profit of getting
to BLOBs specifically from the NTFS document framework with the referential
integrity and simple entry offered by the conventional social database engine. In SQL
Server, BLOBs can be standard varbinary (max) information that stores the
information in tables, or filestream varbinary (max) protests that store the information
in the document framework. The major advantage of this approach is BLOB s are
under database transactional consistency. By carrying out research with different
datasets, it was clearly observed that hybrid and filestream data type approach is faster

20th Century Death Portrayal in Art Essay
The 20th century was a time period lasting from January 1, 1901 all the way through
December 31, 2000. Commonly known as the modern era, this century was nothing
less than contemporary in every aspect throughout the world. Art in itself has always
been a widely known and incorporated feature around the world since the beginning
of time. As centuries came and went, eras within art and certain portrayals were
heavily integrated and became best known as being used within certain centuries.
From visual arts, to music, theatre, literature, and architecture, there has never been a
dull moment. As modern as the 20th century was though, a very evident theme
seemed to stand out among others within many forms of art. This was the portrayal
of death.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The woman portrayed is Florence Owens Thompson and her children. She and her
children were hungry and desperate at the time while they were in this state of
destruction. She had sold everything and had nothing and Lang s attempt when she
took the photograph was to demonstrate a photographs capability to display
emotional powers. The look of death on the mothers face was meant to make
emotional connections with the viewer as a cry for help. Last, when it comes to
paintings, Frida Kahlo was a legend in her own time. On a constant basis, her art
demonstrated how expressionism can be based on life scenarios (Wood, 1998).
Kahlo was well known for her self portraits displaying her uni brow and an
imperious expression. Her art was personal and every piece was an attempt to let
the viewer know that art is not always based on world events, but sometimes
personal event too. In 1943, Frida Kahlo painted Thinking About Death. With a
vegetation background and another domineering facial expression, Kahlo painted a
skull and cross bones across her forehead. Her attempt was to portray her mental
state based on her preoccupation with morality and events that were going on in her
life. These events included her diagnosis of polio, her near fatal bus accident
leaving her unable to conceive a child, and her miserable relationship with artist
Diego Rivera. Before this piece though, another death portrayal was set forth in

Essay Contrasting Images in Things Fall Apart and Heart...
Contrasting Images in Things Fall Apart and Heart of Darkness Joseph Conrad s
novel Heart of Darkness portrays an image of Africa that is dark and inhuman. Not
only does he describe the actual, physical continent of Africa as so hopeless and so
dark, so impenetrable to human thought, so pitiless to human weakness (Conrad 94),
as though the continent could neither breed nor support any true human life, but he
also manages to depict Africans as though they are not worthy of the respect
commonly due to the white man. At one point the main character, Marlow,
describes one of the paths he follows: Can t say I saw any road or any upkeep, unless
the body of a middle aged negro, with a bullet hole in the forehead, upon which I...

Darkness is everything that is unknown, primitive, evil, and impenetrable. To
Conrad, Africa is the very representation of darkness. Marlow often uses the phrase,
We penetrated deeper and deeper into the heart of darkness (Conrad 68), to
describe his progress on the Congo. By traveling farther and farther down the
Congo, Marlow and his crew get closer and closer to the epicenter of this
foreboding darkness, to the black heart of evil. Because of Africa s physical
immensity and thick jungles, it appeared to be a land of the unknown where the
silence . . . went home to one s very heart its mystery, its greatness, the amazing
reality of its concealed life (56). This portrayal of Africa as both a romantic frontier
and a foreboding wilderness continues to dominate in the minds of Westerners even
today. Conrad depicts Africa as a land where the prehistoric has been preserved. He
describes the journey up the Congo as something similar to a trip on a time
machine: Going up that river was like traveling back to the earliest beginnings of
the world, when vegetation rioted on the earth and the big trees were kings . . .
There were moments when one s past came back to one, as it will sometimes when
you have not a moment to spare to yourself; but it came in the shape of an unrestful
and noisy dream, remembered with wonder amongst the overwhelming realities of

How Technology Through Consumer Applications Can
Increase...
The rapid changes in technology and access to knowledge are transforming how
Healthcare is delivered. This expansion of knowledge and technology at ones
fingertips does not only affect healthcare providers but also has impact on the patient
and their behavior. How can those in healthcare capitalize on these changes to
transform patient behavior to improve their adherence to therapies and apply the
expanded knowledge to achieve greater healthliteracy to ultimately achieve better
health outcomes? In spite of what we know and how technology can enhance our
access to obtaining relevant data on the task at hand we are ultimately still faced with
how engaged the patient is in their prescribed therapies and how well will they adhere
to those therapies. Optimization of outcomes and care for patients is contingent on
finding the sweet spot of balancing technology, knowledge, patient provider
interactions with the capability and willingness of the patient. I believe Consumer
Health Informaticscan lend a hand in elevating the level of patient s knowledge and
engagement in their health. This paper will look at how technology through
consumer applications can increase patient literacy and engagement to better adhere
to therapies prescribed as well as obtain better outcomes.
The American Medical Informatics Association defines consumer health informatics
as a field devoted in part to patient focused informatics, health literacy and consumer
education. The focus is on information
Optimism In Romeo And Juliet
Being optimistic is being hopeful and having a positive attitude about the future.
One can be optimistic in any situations with any emotions, it depends on the view
and personality of the person in mind. In William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet,
two individuals from different worlds find a way to come together even in the face
of their families altercations to find true love. The play, Romeo and Juliet,
expresses a rather optimistic view of life. In the play, the two lovers try to keep
their lives positive despite what is going on in their personal lives. Juliet is in
disbelief when she learns that her love Romeo is a montague and she is not allowed
with him. While at the feast in the Capulet house, Juliet talks to the nurse after

The Nurse acts like a messenger for Juliet and is out of breath from having to walk
through Verona. After receiving good news from Romeo the Nurse heads back to
the Capulet home and says to Juliet, I am aweary. Give me leave awhile. Fie, how
my bones ache! What a jaunt have I! (2.5.25). This represents that the Nurse has
become tired and needs to relax after Juliet s requests for her to speak with Romeo.
Though the nurse feels weak and needs some time to settle down a bit but instead
she explains all of what happened to Juliet. This is an example of staying calm and
happy when you are stressed or down. Romeo s new love interest brings a sense of
distress to the Friar. As Romeo tells Friar Lawrence he is in love with the
forbidden the Friar says, But come, young waverer, come, go with me, In one
respect I ll thy assistant be, For this alliance may so happy prove To turn your
households rancor to pure love (2.3.85). The Friar is aware of the feud between the
families, but instead of becoming worried about this situation the Friar although
feeling stressed agrees to marry the two. The Friar has hope that the marriage
could reunite the Capulet and Montague. He always keeps his hope throughout the
play. The Friar acts as a friend to Juliet when Romeo was exiled. When Friar
Lawrence hears the news that Romeo has been exiled he comes up with a plan for
Juliet and says, Hold. Get you gone. Be strong and prosperous In this resolve
(4.1.126). The Friars only son like figure has been sent away indefinitely and still
instead of being full of anger he simply helps Juliet without a thought of his own
feelings. Friar Lawrence sees only the good in every situation and figures out way to
make it better, like giving Juliet the potion in hopes of bringing Romeo back so they
can run away. Through all of the stress the Friar and the
Accounting Is The Preeminent And Complex Dialect Of
Business
As an aftereffect of monetary, mechanized, and technological advancements, diverse
concentrated fields in accounting has developed, wherein accounting is the
preeminent and complex dialect of business. According to the Committee on
Terminology of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA),
Accounting is the art of recording, classifying and summarizing in a significant
manner and in terms of money, transactions and events which are in part at least, of a
financial character, and interpreting the results thereof . To make it more simpler,
accounting is the act of recording, classifying, summarizing the monetary terms of the
business in a substantial manner in order to achieve the output that aids in decisions
making process, creation of policies and for the expansion of the entire organization.
Currently, the accounting field of study has enhanced its area from number crunching
to the other relevant areas that influence the organizations in an exceptionally
remarkable manner. It is evident that the organizations are not just concerned in
finding the financial position of the business but as well the effect it exercises on the
society all in all. This has lead to the emergence of corporate social responsibility
(Sustainability accounting) wherein an organization is responsible not only for its
financial outcomes but also how it deals with the society, environment and the
economy. Numerous studies have been performed keeping in mind to develop certain
Similarities Between Macbeth And Julius Caesar

men that were a millennium apart are similar but yet so different in their actions.

Greatest military minds the Romans ever saw. The other a King of Scotland in the

they gained this great power it corrupted them by giving them grief and madness.

the importance of this quote is that it is showing Macbeth going insane with guilt
and grief . This noticeable by finding out that Macbeth is the only one able to see
the ghost of Banquo. Macbeth feels this guilt over the killing of Banquo because
of the close friendship that they shared for many years, they had an warrior s bond
due to them fighting side by side with each other. Caesar felt guilt over the death of
his ex son in law s death. Pompey the great was a member of the first triumvirate,
the members of that group were Crassus, Caesar, Pompey, to further this alliance
Caesar gave his daughter to Pompey to take as his wife. This alliance started to fall

so that he could equal Caesar conquest of Gaul. What put the final nail in the coffin
is that Julia, who was Caesar s daughter died in childbirth. This severed the last bond

A supermarket chain focuses on cost and quality, with some specialty chains
adding flexibility by carrying a broader range of products that may be targeted
towards customers interested in organic products or ethnic cuisine. Implied demand
uncertainty for a supermarket chain tends to be low; shoppers are typically repeat
customers and have a constant demand level. The supermarket supply chain must be
responsive by receiving produce quickly to ensure freshness and have a high service
level. Supermarket supply chains tend to be well established and can improve
strategic fit by emphasizing speed to maintain freshness, hence perceived quality.
Auto manufacturers have extremely complicated supply chains that are increasingly
focused on flexibility and lean operations. Implied demand uncertainty for auto
manufacturers varies considerably by target market and manufacturer. Automotive
supply chains among the big three in the United States have made great progress

Things to consider when buying essential oils
Before you find out where to buy these oils and start looking for them, there are two
things you will have to consider:
What do you want to use the oil for?

What Grade of Essential Oil do you need?
It is recommended that you use only therapeutic grade essential oils that are 100%
pure if you intend to use the oils for your animals, children and your family. You will
also have to make sure that you are buying pure therapeutic oils if want to use the
oils for healing or alternate health practices.
No solvents are used when producing therapeutic grade oils, which are strictly
distilled and tested. Producing them is an expensive process so the number of high
quality suppliers is quite less. So, along with determining where to buy essential oils,
you should also make sure the ones you are buying are 100% pure and therapeutic
grade.
When you are in search of these oils, which company is reputable and the
availability of wholesale programs, are among the things you should consider. If you
intend to use a large volume every month, then you could save a lot of money

Interpretations Of Heritage In Everyday Use By Alice
Walker
Guided By My Heritage ( In Search 243) Interpretations of Heritage In Everyday Use,
Alice Walker uses relics from Dee s past to demonstrate the importance of heritage
through the understanding of inheritance and ancestry. Heritage in this story is
understood as recognizing from where a person has originated. Walker
correspondingly compares inheritanceto art, something which should be used daily
and passed on to future generations. Heritage and inheritance both have the same
French root word: heriter meaning inherit, implying that for one to truly realize and
grasp their heritage they must first accept what they have inherited, in this case the
quilts, and utilize them. In the story, being aware of one s heritage is a significant
conflict that troubles the characters. At the end, Mama and Maggie are the ones that
carry on their tradition in the present and truly understand the true meaning of
heritage. Throughout the story exists an overlying theme of comprehension of one s
heritage and ancestry. In contract to this theme, Dee is viewed as hypocritical when
claiming she is reconnecting to her African roots, her supposed heritage, because
numerous times she contradicts her beliefs and principles she is to uphold. If she is
truly connected to her African roots, then she would essentially adopt all parts of the
culture and religion. Considering that she has married Hakim a barber, who declares
the Islamic greeting Asalamalakim, my mother and sister (Walker
The Road Not Taken By Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood and sorry I could not travel both. This is the
first line of the opening stanza of Robert Frost s poem, The Road Not Taken. The
traveler in this story has been walking down a path and come to two diverging
roads. Thus, creating a situation in which the traveler must make a decision. This
poem is often misinterpreted by readers and critics. The poem is entertaining, but it
is not as deep and profound as many people believe. I interpret the poem as a
reflection of the uncertainties of life, but in a humorous way.
Frost was born in San Francisco, California on March 26, 1874. He was named
after the famous Confederate general, Robert E. Lee. Robert Lee Frost lived in San
Francisco until he was eleven. At the age of eleven, his father died of tuberculosis,
and Frost moved in with his paternal grandparents. Shortly after his father s death, his
family relocated to Lawrence, Massachusetts. Frost attended school at Lawrence High
School and graduated in 1892. He graduated as class poet and shared co valedictorian
honors with his current girlfriend and future wife, Elinor White. After high school, he
attended Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. It was there that he got a
job as a newspaper reporter.
Frost was recognized for his literary talent in 1894 when he published his first poem,
My Butterfly which earned him $15. After this poem was published in New York
Independent, he made a copy to show his fiancГ©e Elinor. Her reaction
Everyday Use Essay
RR: Everyday Use
My Sister, My Enemy
Often siblings are brought up in the same environment and turn out completely
different. This is the case in Alice Walkers, Everyday Use . Although two sisters,
Maggie and Dee, are raised by the same woman and in the same home, their
similarities end here. Both are different in their appearance, personalities, and ideas
about family heritage. Each having opposing views on value and worth of the
various items in their lives. Walker uses this conflict to make the point that the use of
an object and of people, is more important than style.
As the story begins, Walker introduces Mama . She, the narrator of the story,
describes herself as a large, big boned woman with rough, man working hands ...

Before her name change, she frowned on the items in her home because of their
lack of beauty and style. However, when she becomes Wangero, she now sees the
same items, such as a dasher and butter churn, as part of her family heritage. She
insists on taking these items because she plans to use the churn top as a centerpiece
for the alcove table (359). Sadly, she fails to consider that she is taking away her
mothers butter churn, a useful item, for selfish use instead.
Unlike Dee, Walker s description of Maggie is seen as an unattractive and
awkward girl. Her mother notes good looks passed her by (355). Furthermore, she
carries herself with low self esteem, chin on chest, eyes on ground (355). Besides
her appearance, when Maggie is first introduced in the story, Mama points out that
she is nervous about her sister s visit and will stand hopelessly in corners, homely
and ashamed of the burn scars down her arms and legs, eyeing her sister with a
mixture of envy and awe (355).
However, the one thing both sisters have in common are the family quilts. These
quilts are described by Mama as being made from family members who have passed,
which enhance their value. Maggie values the quilts because she learned to quilt from
her grandmother and aunt. She hints that she sees the quilt as a reminder of them
when she mentions, I can t member Grandma Dee without the quilts (360). Dee,

Analysis Of To Every Thing There Is A Season By Alistair...
Children everywhere wish to follow in the footsteps of Peter Pan and never grow
up. Unfortunately, this phenomenon is found only within the confines of fiction. In
the short story, To Every Thing There Is a Season , by Alistair Macleod, the
protagonist craves just that, to not grow up. He holds on to his belief in Santa Claus
as tightly as he can. Alistair is on the cusp of maturity, and not quite ready to take the
leap. The theme in this short story is that while some cling to childhood, there is no
escaping growing up. This is revealed through the symbolism of Santa, the character
Alistair, and the plot of this story. The theme that growing up is inevitable is revealed
through the symbolism of Santa Claus, who represents the innocence of
Literary Analysis Of Joyas Voladoras By Brian Doyle
Brian Doyle is a writer that composed an analysis essay on the story Joyas
Voladoras. Doyle was born in 1956, and is the editor for Portland Magazine at the
the University of Portland, which is located in Portland, Oregon. A numerous
amount of Brian Doyle s essays have made appearances at the Best American
Essays series. Doyle s essays gained more exposure by being showcased at the
American Scholar, Harper s Orion, Atlantic Monthly, Commonweal, and the
Georgia Review. In Joyas Voladoras, Doyle shows the elegance and character in his
style of writing as he gets deeper and explores the hummingbird. Almost as if it is a
riddle, or an enigma. Others say he expands beyond the meaning of life, he mentions
metaphors about hearts, humans, blue whales, other animals, and of course, the
humming bird. Basically, Doyle informs his audience through metaphors about
hearts, life, pain, love and multiple living things, but he also gives us facts about
hummingbirds, as if he was praising them, like if he was giving them the love and
appreciation that they don t see to get. This is could have been done to get a
message across, but not just a simple message, something with a deeper meaning,
that i myself or anyone cannot exactly pinpoint. One is left to just wonder and
assume, make what they can out of it through trying to understand what Doyle was
getting at or to comprehend by making it personal. Doyle wrote this essay to explore
life and compare, and to get a point across. Those
Examples Of Narrative In The Thousand Faces Of Night
CHAPTER IV
Narrative technique in Githa Hariharan s The Thousand Faces of Night:
Narration is the telling of a story, and Narrative is the way you tell stories. It s the
glue that ties your creators to the to the plot events in your story. As well as elements
like scene setting, narrative includes description, so we ll deal with these features
together.
A storyteller uses narrative to tell the story _to relate what s fashionable, give a point
of view, and explain events, characters , responses, and so on. Narrative exists above
and beyond the plot and characters, though in a film or novel for example, narrative
can tell us things that the characters themselves do not know.
Hariharan, the internationally acclaimed Indo English writer has secured an enviable
position for herself among ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But it is not Devi s description alone that finds experience in it; the novelist has
entrenched so many other stories which are related to real life, to mythical page
(told by her grand mother, pati), to the life of musicians and about the females
ideal role (told by her father in law) as well. The variety of stories does not create
any harm to the meaning of the story and the aim of the novelist because the
skilfully interwoven plots give each other considerable meaning. The revolving
point of the story is Devi s life with all the mythical stories. All these are
inseparable part of the novel as all these stories and the real stories (connected with
these mythical narrations) present a glimpse of what will go on in the life of Devi
and put in the picture the truth of females fate in the patriarchal society. The novel
causes the readers encounter with the truth that how so ever the female get
educational capacities, how so ever the society may become modernised; but the
females will be exploited in all the ages and their condition will remain as still as it
was years ago during the mythical

Leadership Assessment
1. Analyze the leadership styles(s) of a senior executive (CEO, CFO, COO, Director,
ect.) in your current or previous organization who made a positive or negative impact
on you.
In a previous organization I had a platoon sergeant by the name of Staff Sergeant
Hardy. He was a very strategic leader who had the ability to anticipate, envision,
maintain flexibility, think strategically, and works with others to initiate changes that
created a positive future for our platoon/company (Williams, 2012).
He was terrific at reacting to crises and fixing them. He worked his magic in our
first deployment to Iraq. Sergeant Hardy took over two hundred soldiers to ... Show

3. Evaluate the performance of your selected leader based on his ethical conduct and
effective communication to determine if this leader was successful in motivating and
empowering you to improve on your work performance. Explain you answer.
Sergeant Hardy knew what he valued. He also recognized the importance of ethical
behavior. He exhibited both values and ethics in his leadership style and actions.
Sergeant Hardy ethics and values were very visible because he lived them in his
actions every single day. He lived true to all seven United States Army core values
and everyone in his presents followed his lead. As a leader, Sergeant Hardy
chooses the values and the ethics that were most important to him, the values and
ethics he believed in and it defined his character. Living his values was one of the
most powerful tools available to him that helped him lead and influence others in
the workplace. He knew the vital aspect of the workplace is working well with
others. That included everyone from peers to supervisors. He knew not all
employees will not always like each other, but knew they needed to set aside their
personal or even work related differences to reach a larger goal. In many instances,
those who are not considered team players could have faced demotion. On the other
hand, those who work well with others often advanced on that aspect alone, in the
Narrative Structure Of Unforgiven
Almost all movies have characteristics that categorize them in two or more genres.
A great example of this being Unforgiven. The film s dark and cynical characters
occasionally resemble that of a film noir while its overall narrative structure depicts
itself as a classical western style film. While there is an argument to call Unforgiven
a film noir, it is hard to deny the idea that the film is mainly a film of the western
genre. The basis of this idea, mostly relies on the portrayal of the lead protagonist,
and the end of the film. While it would be easy to use setting, lighting, camera angles,
etc to manifest the idea, it would not do it justice. By using these narrative tropes, it
becomes coherent that Unforgiven is just another well made film that uses the
structure of a western to construct its plot.
Clint Eastwood s character, William, is a perfect example of the western classic
hero. For example, the character is unknown to both the viewer and to the society
in the film. In The Structure of The Western Film, the author describes the second
similarity found in a western film as The hero is a stranger to this society (41).
One of the first scenes in Unforgiven shows William living in a small home
accompanied by his kids far away from the rest of civilization. His dirtied appearance
gives the audience the interpretation he is just an ordinary farmer trying to make a
living and support his family. However, he has an unknown past that is not fully
discussed till much

Demonstrating understanding elements of design report by Monica Prakash91053
My previous experience I have been investigating print media selections when
advertising tourist attractions in the city of Auckland. I have created a design of a
double sided, bi fold, 3 panel brochure. I have learnt the elements and principles of
design that are vital to this type of outcome. I have also learnt how to apply the
elements of design which can be applied to any digital outcome. Important Elements
/Principles of Design There are a variety of elements to be considered while
developing a print media outcome. Colour is an important design element when used
in print media because it creates visual interest towards the viewer. It determines
whether the brochure is noticeable enough. This comes into consideration which is
used to determine the quality of a design within print media. Colour can generate
emotions as well as depict feeling. Alignment is also an important design element
formerly used in print media because it creates a distinct, more orderly design. When
aligning elements this allows them to create a visual connection with either font text,
images, or shapes. It tightens up the design and eradicates the haphazard. This
element prevents items of being randomly placed in a design. Alignment is one of the
most basic and important principles of design. It acknowledges us to create order and
organisation in a design. Proximity is another important design
Media s Influence On Society
Over the many years media has had a tremendous impact on society. Media has been
responsible for shaping the culture for generations through music, movies and
television. It
seems logical that since the media has an influence on society s norms when the
media promotes
violence and crime the audiences become more likely to imitate those behaviors. The
media has
been known to contribute to the violent culture through music, art, television and
movies (action,
suspense and horror); Movies and music where the dominant violent roles were
occupied by men
and when they involved women they were often accomplices or accessories to the
crime.
Although they may be amusing they are also exposing the audience to stereotypes of
race and
gender that dominate the culture. Even with gender roles becoming more diverse and
women s
roles in crime evolving, common culture stereotypes still flourish and the media
continues to
contribute. In most forms of media the criminal is almost always painted as a
masculine villain,
which causes the stereotype that men are only capable of being bad guys and woman
are always
the sweet innocent victims who need to be rescued. It contributes to the idea that
woman are
supposed to be loving and affectionate, so when women commit any deviant acts it is
less
socially acceptable than it would be for men. In result this image portrayed by media
instills a
false bias that women are minuscule in a larger scale of crime.

Leotard Research Paper
Leotards are a fundamental clothing item used many sports, mainly dance and
gymnastics, which allow the athlete to perform at their peak ability without
restrictions. A leotard allows for fluidity of movement and should also be light
weight, stretchy, durable, and conform to the athlete s body (1). Upon their first
appearances in the sporting community, leotards were manufactured from stretchy
wool (1). However their increasing popularity later led to modifications in the
choice of material; leotards being made from cotton and spandex (1). Spandex, also
known as lyrcra or elastane, is a synthetic fibre which is produced from a long chain

This remarkable characteristic is due to the chemical composition of the polymer,
as the fibres are made of many polymer strands (8). These strands are comprised of
two segments of a long, amorphous segment and a short, rigid segment (8). The
amorphous segments allows for the elastic properties of spandex where the material
can be continuously stretched and then return to their original shape and size (8).
This polymer also has useful features of being light weight, easily dyed, abrasion
resistant, and is unaffected by the harsh effects of perspiration, body oil, and
detergents (8). These attributes of spandex makes it a popular choice of material for

English Language Lab helps the teachers to teach enthusiastically by remotely

a sort of tireless teacher s Aid that could drill the mechanical aspects of language,
freeing the teacher for more creative activities (Underwood, 1984 34). A large
number of teachers considered English lab as an effective tool for teaching;
therefore, the lab was seen as the center of language teaching, with the teacher
assisting the lab operation and adjusting to it (Lado, 1965 173). Students can practice

A Psychoanalytic Possession
Murder is often an occurrence in the novels of Agatha Christie and have plots that
change the views of the characters as well as the reader. But how does she do it? In
two of her most famous novels And Then There Were None and Murderon the Orient
Express compare to each other through an overpowering psychoanalytic possession
of many people at once. Psychoanalytic possession creates the characters to do what

Not only do they lie to the other passengers of the train and the reader, but also to
the great detective Herlcule Poirot. Lies and again lies. It amazes me, the amount
of lies we had told to us this morning... There are still more to discover. (Christie
MOE 61). The ego of the passengers and isolation are in sync to the theory as they
are all in small space with so much hatred towards the man that it drives them
enough to kill him. Being so tight in a small compartment leads them to all kill
Ratchtte for what he did to the little girl of Daisy Armstrong together and knew
what they were doing. The passengers have it set in their mind that they want to
kill him in which they do but never speak a word of it to Poirot. If ever a man
deserves what he got, Ratchett... Is the man... I m Rejoice I was end. Such a man

guests on the island and train committing a murder, lie about themselves, and hold
inner disires that only the reader learns to find out. Through psychoanalytic theory,
the mind likes to play a lot of games on the victim such as dreams of reality, poems
and riddles of the past, and isolation creating the best and worst out of them. Upon the
first novel, dreams take control of the mind to unleash the most inner desire. An

Elementary School Narrative
After the interesting time that was elementary school, the change to the
intermediate school was not an unwelcome one. In fact, I was rather excited to
pass on to the newly redone and recently renamed Lincoln Intermediate school. It
was a time of change and that was exciting and terrifying. The first year of band,
me newly on my trombone with only a few lessons of experience from the summer,
four times as many kids my age for me to get to know, and a larger school. Needless
to say it was a time to feel anxious. Perhaps the most immediate change that came out
of the switch to intermediate was my best friend. Throughout what I remember of

Stereotypes Of Religion Essay
Can you be religious in today s society without being stereotyped? Can you bring
up your beliefs in an everyday conversation without being ridiculed? The answer to
that is simple, no. In today s society, people are strongly opinionated. Certain
individuals believe religion is a filthy word. Should you avoid talking to those types
of people about your religion? Should you change what you believe to appease
others? Religion has a vast definition. When I think of religion, I think of faith. When
I think of faith, I think of our Lord and Savior. Does that mean everyone else in the
world comes to the same conclusion? No, not at all, because we all have different
beliefs. I have been going to church ever since I was a child. My beliefs have

in order to reassert control. In its return to irrationality and superstition, the hypocrisy
of the state is highlighted.
3. Religion and Authority
Religion prominently wields its power over characters and sociological conditions in
the three novels, and is therefore used to unite, divide and control.
The appeal of religion seems to be at its greatest when man is at his most savage, and
that is perhaps why religion can wield much authority. In dire circumstances, religion
is a tool for the state in The Wanting Seed to supervise the population both
psychologically and numerically. Despite the repugnance of cannibalism, Burgess
leads us to grudgingly admit that the consumption of soft, properly cooked man is an
absurdly practical self regulating mechanism for curbing overpopulation.

Along with dealing with diversity future teachers will have to collaborate and

Participating in collaborative activities will prepare students for being effective

Assessment of performance is paramount in the workplace and the framework helps
faculty ensure they are teaching students to be able to effectively engage in reflection

Not only must students learn this necessary skill, but faculty must also reflect on
their instruction and assess their performance so they can implement strategies on

The Articles By Menger ( 1998 ) Essay
In this paper, we are critically appraising the articles by Menger (1892), Goodhart
(1998), Rogoff (2014) and Yermack (2013) respectively. The first two papers focused
on the origins of money and the theory behind this while the second two papers
focused on the future of money. We will be comparing the conclusions of each author
in their papers and giving commentary on them.
Menger (1892) argues that money didn t originate because of government
introduction, but instead that it emerged organically because the market required it.
This is a direct contrast to Goodhart s (1998) view that money was given authority by
government and without this, trade would revert to barter, which aligns with
Yermack s (2013) conclusion that the privately generated Bitcoin is not a currency.
Menger (1892) claims that trade would not exist without money because of the
excessive search costs to find a double coincidence of wants and therefore barter was
too inefficient to have ever occurred.
He uses the term saleableness repeatedly in his paper when describing money and
commodities and we must interpret what he means by this. He uses it to describe
how a difference exists between all commodities in how easily one can trade with it.
He talks about the almost infinite saleability of money and how this is a one off
occurrence.
Menger (1892) goes into detail of how some commodities are more or less saleable
than others and this is where the paper gets very interesting. He gives examples of
United States Senator For Florida
United States Senator for Florida, Marco Rubio once stated, The Hispanic
community understands the American Dream and have not forgotten what they were
promised that in the U.S., a free market system allows us all to succeed
economically, achieve stability and security for your family and leave your children
better off than yourselves. Every year Hispanics search the regions of Texasin search
of this very opportunity to better themselves and especially their youth. One such
region is the poverty stricken region that is the Rio GrandeValley. It is a region that
has begun to accept its current role as nothing more than a region of widespread
poverty and undervalued skill, but there is one man who will not sit idly by and
watch as this region and the Hispanics who inhabit it are characterized by
benighted stereotypes and filled with cruel insults. There is one man who will
work diligently to better the region. That man is Eric Garza. Garza believes, Future
opportunity exists for Hispanics to excel and advance themselves and their families
(Garza). He sees that a disheartened culture has suddenly sprung up and is on the
cusp of something greater than what people believe they can achieve. Eric Garza, a
prominent figure in the RGV and State of Texas, has been working to better the
welfare of Hispanics since he was a teenager, through his work with The Libre
Initiative and his various involvements in local and statewide communities. Garza s

The Relationship between Organized Crime and Politics in...
Sociological significance of the relationship between organized crime and politics in
the US The Money and the Power is the outcome of five years of study by award
winning investigative journalists Sally Denton and Roger Morris into the founders,
finances as well as unholy associations that transformed a dusty desert crossroads into
the de facto capital of criminal America. Starting with the city s mobster godfathers,
Bugsy Siegeland Meyer Lanskyand their on site representatives and followers like
Texas thug Benny Binion, Denton and Morris expose amazing relationships between
organized crime and revered Nevada and national political figures like Pat McCarran,
Robert Laxalt, Papa Joe, Jack and Robert Kennedy, Arizona s Goldwater family, and
Richard Nixon. However, according to the authors, the sticky sweet entice and
infectious corruption of Las Vegas doesn t end with underground political influence.
Money laundering and defrauds of truly marathon proportions concerning the CIA,
illegal drug cartels, Mormon bankers, the unions, Howard Hughes, substandard
political burgles and apparently failed political assassinations round out an account
of current U. S. history that is forthrightly awful in its implications. Denton and
Morris indicate to explain that Las Vegas is both the symbol and the fruit of a new
American order, a means of life that admits, supports and uses misapprehensions,
diversion, disgraceful shams and the pessimistic operation of a people by their
The Message Of Osama Bin Laden
On May 1, 2011 many Americans received the message we never thought would
come. Every single American was glued to their television sets that evening for a
message we would never forget. It had been previously leaked to the public that
maybe Osama Bin Laden had in fact been killed, but it was still uncertain until
President Obama addressed the nation confirming his death. This ten minute speech
awaited the ears of millions of Americans longing for justice, and that night it had
been served. Barrack Obama was able to convey his message using various rhetorical
devices, making his speech one that was truly effective and memorable.
Our recollection of Osama Bin Laden began on a day that will live in history for
years to come. On September 11th 2011, terrorist hijacked four jetliners. Two
planes were flown in to the World Trade Center towers in New York City, one into
the Pentagon, and the other crashed into a field in southern Pennsylvania. These
terrorist who hijacked these planes and caused the loss of thousands of lives were
part of Osama Bin Laden s terrorist group, al Qaeda. Due to this horrific tragedy,
Americans became emotionally scarred and were scared of the world around them.
Osama became one of the most wanted men alive, and Americans wanted justice.
For ten years we waited for the answer that he was caught, but On May 11th prayers
were finally answered. President Obama s speech was one of the most awaited in
history. His speech restored a sense of confidence in
Allusions In History
Reference to History in Pop Culture
All throughout modern and pop culture there are many different allusions that lead
and reference back to ancient times. Many of these reference are not where you
would expect them to be either while watching a movie, or TV show, or even
listening to music. For example, Achilles Last Stand by Robert Plant of Led
Zeppelin, Moon Knight by Marvel Comics, and Aladdin by Walt Disney Features
Animation all have some type of allusion to the past in the Ancient world. In the song
Achilles Last Stand, Robert Plant writes about many different aspects of Greek
Mythology. He refers not only to the mythological warrior Achilles but he also
describes the Atlas Mountains. But as he describes Atlas Mountain there is a double
meaning behind his lyric The mighty arms of Atlas hold the heavens from the Earth.
While portraying the Atlas Mountains holding the sky up in a physical sense, Plant is
also describing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Moon Knight is based on the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. Before the Moon
Knight became who he is, Khonshu appeared to him in a dream and asked him to
become his earthly avatar. After becoming the Moon knight, he decides to become
a crime fighter. Even though the Comic is not well known it does have influence
from the Egyptian gods. A more common and well known movie that had an
allusion into ancient Rome is that of Aladdin by Walt Disney Features Animation.
During the scene when Genie is transforms Aladdin into a prince he is looking
through his book and refers to a Caesar salad but instead of a salad he gets a guy
with a dagger. This is an allusion to the roman story of Julius Caesar, a roman noble
that was stabbed to death by men of his own. The first person that tried to stab him
missed, and in Aladdin when the arm comes out of the book it misses stabbing the
Genie by a fraction of an

Rhetorical Analysis of Coming to Our Senses
Equipped with our five senses, along with telescopes and microscopes and mass
spectrometers and seismographs and magnetometers and particle accelerators and
detectors across the electromagnetic spectrum, we explore the universe around us and
call the adventure science. Neil deGrasse Tyson
Neil deGrasse Tyson, an American astrophysicist, and director of the Hayden
Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History used this quote to clearly
express his idea in his writing Coming to Our Senses that we need technology with
our senses to fully explore the world. Neil deGrasse Tyson used many different types
of rhetorical devices to convince his thoughts to his audience.
Tyson being an astrophysicist made him more appealing to his audience because they
knew that Tyson knew and understood what he was talking about. When he quoted

He also gives this example the original Star Trek sci fi series, the crew that beamed
down from their starship to the uncharted planet always brought with them a

inanimate, for its basic properties. (pg. 163) He was explaining if that we would we
have great sense but, we would still need other devices to help us explore the world.
This was effective because it took his abstract idea and used an example the many
already knows about to help them understand his idea. This made the audience enjoy
the paper and understand it better with both examples of
Chinua Achebe s Life Of Literature
Chinua Achebe is a renowned Nigeria novelist lauded for his work in literature.
Chinua Achebe has been credited with numerous works of literature ranging from
novels to journals. His work cuts across borders, making huge success and accepted
globally in the world of literature. Even critics had to accept Chinua Achebeis the
greatest our time, such was Charles H Rowell a literary critic issued in Callaloo a
reputable magazine. There was no surprise when Chinua Achebe won the 1972
Commonwealth prize, he obviously deserved it, following his contribution to the
world of literature. He has also been awarded an indefinite number of doctorates in
various educational institutions across the seven continents. (Africa) First, Achebe
was born in the Ogidi eastern part of Nigeria. He was born thirty years before Nigeria
got her independence from the British government on November 16th, 1930. A day
marked historically in African calendar. He was raised in the Christian faith, even
though Christianity as a religion was somewhat new in the community. Achebe, as a
kid was interested in the local religions of the community as those, seem appealing
to him through his friends. He participated in some of the traditional religion
activities such as festivals and parades. Achebe in high school was exposed to the
writings of several authors, most English writers probably due to the colonization of
Nigeria as at that time. He carefully examined the works of Charles Dickens,
Johnathan Swift, and
Dilemma at Devils Den
Susan was working at a snack bar, called The Devil s Den. At the time she was there
she realized that there were some difficulties of the employees doing their job right,
such as thefts that were going on for a long time now. Something else that bothered
Susan was that no one paid attention of the behavior of the night shift employees.
Devil s Den had a contract with the College Food Service (CFS). The employees
from the snack bar took advantage of this situation and they got too loose. They
took food after their shift and gave to their friends these freebies to. Susan s
colleagues took large quantities of freebies but no one ever checked the storage. The
storage room was unlocked all the time and all employees had free access to the food.

It seems that managers don t want to have any particular involvement with none of
the issues that the snack bar may have. The only thing that they know to do best is
to cover it up. This is very bad leadership and they cannot handle a difficult situation.
To be more specific, they don t have the knowledge of a leader.
Susan as a moral person wants all of these problems to end. She has already spoken to
Mack, the student manager of the night shift, about all of the things that were
happening under his supervision. She thought that maybe she could talk to the
morning manager, Bill, who wasn t one of the student managers. She was afraid being
blamed for spoken to one manager that actually cared about the Den. Talking to other
student managers would not benefit of something because they abused the rules like
the other employees. Susan had many potential to become a student manager next
semester. It was something that would give her managerial and leadership skills. The
only thing that she thought about was her future, but she could not work in the Den
in an atmosphere like this one.
Susan s perception like her behavior to had influenced by the annoying freedom of
employees, taking food for them and their friends. Also the weak supervision, lack
of responsibility and lack for respect. The student manager of the night shift didn t do
anything and she was in a dead end to what she
Conflict Between Mrs. Dubois And Mr. Kowalski
1.When looking at the conflict between Miss. Dubois and Mr. Kowalski we the see it
is sexual and being from different social classes. They are from different classes
because of the way they were raised. Mr. Kowalski was born in to a poor or middle
class family whereas Miss. Dubois was born in to a family with money because her
and her families owning Belle Reveand many acres, but after all the deaths she lost
her family home and money. Which is one of the reasons she goes to visit her
sister. Which is when the conflicts start s. I believe another reason for the conflict
is because of their world views Miss. Dubois believes she should be viewed as
royalty where as Mr. Kowalski knows he s polack and common as dirt. Mr.
Kowaslski does not believe Miss. Dubois is as fragile as moth and not so different
from him which is why he treats her the way he does. Miss. Dubois believes this is
an insult to her and her appearance even though she hides her appearance because
she does not want Mitch to see her for what she is an old women and a liar. This is
another reason Mr. Kowalski has so much conflict with Miss Dubois. If Miss.
Dubois would have just told the truth about why she was visiting and why she had to
leave Laurel. Then most of the conflict could have been avoid. The only thing Miss.
Dubois does not lieabout is that she was an English teacher I believe she does not lie
about it because it is the one thing in her life that she had complete control of. I also
believe her
Essay On Siemens Scandal
At first Siemens downplayed the affair saying that it was only a matter of a few
millions Euros. However within a month their own estimate skyrocketed up to an
amount of 420 million Euros. Furthermore Klaus Kleinfeld the then recently installed
CEO, denied awareness or involvement. Siemens first statements were exemplary of
an ill suited cursory attempting to downplay a developing scandal prematurely. This
tactic appeared egoistical and lacked moral responsibility. It also damaged
stakeholders impressions of Siemensintegrity and in general damaged its reputation in
the public eye. Many viewed this defensive acknowledgement as incompetent. Then
however Senior Executives made public pledges to restore the firm s battered
reputation just a month later.Siemens mandated the New York law firm Debevoise

Therefore this honest diagnosis was met with internal resistance, and it was not until
the following year that the most serious revelations came to light. This resulted in the
departures of the CEO and Chairman, and the decision by the newly appointed CEO,
Peter Löscher, to announce a month long amnesty for employees to come forward,
explicitly excluding, extending the scandal s reach into the previous management
Board. What was especially remarkable was the fact that not individual but systemic
elements contributed to this scandal. These include: a too aggressive growth strategy
that portrayed bribes as a tempting short cut to hitting though performance targets;
minimal oversight from HQ due to the fact that the de centralised, matrix like
structure allowed divisions to effectively run themselves above all, it is a well known
fact that Siemens corporate culture at the time which seemed openly tolerant of such

Nonexistent hoods and inadequate hoods should be replaced and installed
immediately. The low on nonexistent fpm s produced by these hoods are in
violation of OSHA regulations. Putting garage doors on the equipment doors
should be done after this. The free flow of lead from POS to other parts of the
plant is of great concern to everyone s health. Keeping the lead in the POS
department would make it much easier to control. The installation of a wind tunnel
between POS and COS should be installed in the next couple years. A large sized
capital improvement investment will be required for this construction. Personal
hygiene, facility sanitation practices, and employee dietary needs should be
instituted immediately. These changes have very little cost and do not require
much labor downtime. Conclusion The blood lead levels in the Holland, Ohio
facility are the worst not only in the United States, but the world as well. In order
to lower these blood lead levels each changes and improvements must be made in
all six categories outlined in this report. The changes range from simple policy
changes that at little or no cost, to engineering controls that will be fairly expensive.
I look forward to meeting with you and other plant leadership to discuss this study,
and how to we should move forward with these recommendations to reduce blood

The Power Of Speech In Jane Austen s Persuasion
At face value, Anne s speech in the published ending of Jane Austen s Persuasion
seems to not quite follow with her quiet nature throughout most of the book. In the
original unpublished conclusion to this book, Anne retains her standard silence that
is her signature characteristic. However, with a modest amount of studying one will
find Anne s remaining silent would not follow suit with her character s progression
through the story. The reason though for her continued growth towards comfort in
speech I believe to be directly tied to her continued growth back towards Captain
Wentworth. Reading through this book we become accustomed to Anne being the
silent character, leading us to feel like something is wrong when she begins to speak
more and more. Due to this we are naturally drawn to question why Anne is speaking
so much.
More than this we must wonder, why Anne did not speak before this point?
Throughout this book we are given enough information to see that Anne speaks
much less in comparison to all the other characters, however we are never given
anything to say why she is this way. One possible explanation that we find in
Chapter 1 is this description of her relationship with her father and sisters, her
word had no weight; her convenience was always to give way; she was only Anne.
(Austen, 1817) This seems like quite enough to keep someone from speaking up as
much, knowing that they would always get automatically shut down for being
considered only Anne . This seems like a strange way for Anne s own family to treat
her. Given, Sir Walter is not known for being the father of the year, but he at least
treats his other two daughters with some form of fatherly love. The flaw in this
though is that in the very last published chapter it is said that Sir Walter, indeed,
though he had no affection for Anne, and no vanity flattered, to make him really
happy on the occasion, was very far from thinking it a bad match for her. It is clearly
stated that Sir Walter did not even have any affection towards his daughter Anne.
This all lets us deny the idea of Sir Walter s view of his daughter affecting her
reason for silence. The next possibility would be in her own sister s treatment of
Anne. We see in the last
Sun Observation Grid Report
Purpose
This study recorded the position of the Sun over the course of a day, on three
different occasions each one month apart. Then compare how the daily motion of
the Sun changes throughout the course of a year. To measure the course of the
Sun a roofing nail is placed on a paper and the end of the shadow is recoded over
the length of the day. Starting the recording at approximately 10am and ending
around 6pm. Methodology The site choosing was a lot near my apartment. It was
chosen because it had a lot of open area, flat land, and there were not a lot of trees or
people around to obstruct the view of the sky. The open area made it easier to find a
flat area to lay my paper on. The flat land helped so that there would be fewer

This is represents the shortening of the daylight and the early setting of the Sun as it
gets closer to winter.
1.How do the tracks observed for the three different days compare?
a.They all have a similar pattern, but the length of the observations between hours
gets shorter through the months.
2.From what you know about the path of the Sun across the sky, can you explain the
differences between the paths of the Sun on the horizontal sundial for the three
observations?
a.When the Sun is directly above the nail it makes a smaller shadow. When the Sun
is low in the sky shadows become longer. Since winter is coming the shadows
recorded become farther away from the nail and shorter in length from hour to hour
because of the loss of daylight and the time its recorded.
3.How would changing of the location where the observations are made (for example
Caracas, Venezuela) affect the path of the Sun on the horizontal plane Sundial?
a.Caracas, Venezuela is near the equator. The daylight time does not change near the
equator. All year round the amount of daylight, and night time are the same. This
would make every observation nearly the same instead of mine which are different
from each

An American Economy Essay
An American Economy
Globalization is a very pressing issue in the American culture today. Within any
economy, globalization will cause many problems while at the same time solving
many others. This is true because there are many factors involved with globalization,
one of the most important being job outsourcing. While at first glance and from what
the media reports, job outsourcing is definitely not healthy for the economy. However
on upon closer inspection, the reverse may be true. Job outsourcing, though initially
stressing on the workforce, is helpful in creating a strong economy.
Job outsourcing creates an initial job loss to the area in which it concerns. This
happens because in a global economy, the idea is to move ones ... Show more content

The media and politicians attacked IBM for its un American policies, the other event
was IBM s high second quarter profits that allowed for a one third reduction to their
lay offs. Though that may not seem like a big deal, it is considering that when they
announced their 5,000 layoffs, they also announced their addition of 5,000 other
American jobs to the payroll. No one heard their second announcement through all
the fuss over the companies outsourcing. With that taken into consideration however,
IBM actually increased the number of American workers, making a healthier
economy. The attack of the media and politicians on IBM is not even close to new.
Any company with plans to cut costs by moving jobs over seas is seen as an evil
monster creating a permanent job loss.
The permanent job loss is an idea that has been around for some time. In the
eighties and early nineties, there was a lot of doubt over our economies ability to
recover from the departure of our manufacturing jobs. Then, starting in the mid to
late nineties was the panic over e commerce and dot.com companies destroying old
economy jobs. The fact is, our economy is always changing and there will always
be a permanent loss of jobs. That s what happened when the US changed from an
agricultural economy to an industrial one and from an industrial one to a
technological one. Now it is happening again as we change from a mostly local
economy to a very global one. In order to keep the

  • 3. Human Resources And Human Resource Practices Regardless of the size of a business or whether it is a multi million dollar software distributor or a productive trucking company, there is one thing that most all companies have in common. Every company needs to have efficient human resource practices. According to Mayhew (n.d.), human resources plays an essential role in developing a company s strategy as well as handling the employee centered activities of an organization (para. 1). If the employees are the backbone of an organization then the human resource department is the brain stem. It can be the glue that holds an organization together, or the hammer that breaks the organization apart. There are many issues that companies face when dealing with human resources. Things such as payroll disputes and disgruntled employees are fairly common, but for the most part they are easy to overcome. The major issue that companies have to face when it comes to human resources is a double edged sword. It is both a blessing and a hindrance at times. This issue is how to handle the ever changing diversity within the organization. In order to be a successful human resource department of an organization that treats their diverse workforce in a fair and equal manner, one must first understand how the workforce demographics are changing, what problems may arise due to these changes, and how to overcome these problems. Managing And Securing Unstructured Data With a massive growth in Internet, there has been an enormous increase in the amount of information generated and shared in social networking sites and across various industries. This has led to storing and access issues with regards to unstructured data. Firstly understanding what unstructured data is of primary importance before trying to handle it. In simple terms unstructured data can be understood as data that can t be stored in the form of rows and columns. It can be anything including email files, text documents, presentations, image and video files. Studies carried out by IDC and EMC forecasts that data will grow to 40 zettabyes (1 ZB = 1 billion TB). As of now more than 80% of all stored data in organizations is unstructured and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also backup and restore will take a lesser time Major disadvantage is that storing unstructured data will significantly increase the size of databases which will lead to more time for backup and restore of these databases and can cause performance issues with I/O subsystems The big disadvantage of this approach is that we have to create and maintain manual links between database and external file system files which can potentially go out of sync. Also since data is stored outside the system the backups are not consistent and unstructured data is not a part of the transaction. Hybrid Approach: To overcome the disadvantages of the methods discussed above, another method was the Hybrid Approach, which proposes Database engine to support a new data type filestream . Filestram help consolidates the profit of getting to BLOBs specifically from the NTFS document framework with the referential integrity and simple entry offered by the conventional social database engine. In SQL Server, BLOBs can be standard varbinary (max) information that stores the information in tables, or filestream varbinary (max) protests that store the information in the document framework. The major advantage of this approach is BLOB s are under database transactional consistency. By carrying out research with different datasets, it was clearly observed that hybrid and filestream data type approach is faster

  • 6. 20th Century Death Portrayal in Art Essay The 20th century was a time period lasting from January 1, 1901 all the way through December 31, 2000. Commonly known as the modern era, this century was nothing less than contemporary in every aspect throughout the world. As centuries came and went, eras within art and certain portrayals were heavily integrated and became best known as being used within certain centuries. From visual arts, to music, theatre, literature, and architecture, there has never been a dull moment. The look of death on the mothers face was meant to make emotional connections with the viewer as a cry for help. Last, when it comes to paintings, Frida Kahlo was a legend in her own time. On a constant basis, her art demonstrated how expressionism can be based on life scenarios (Wood, 1998). Kahlo was well known for her self portraits displaying her uni brow and an imperious expression. Her art was personal and every piece was an attempt to let the viewer know that art is not always based on world events, but sometimes personal event too. In 1943, Frida Kahlo painted Thinking About Death. With a vegetation background and another domineering facial expression, Kahlo painted a skull and cross bones across her forehead. • 7. Essay Contrasting Images in Things Fall Apart and Heart... Contrasting Images in Things Fall Apart and Heart of Darkness Joseph Conrad s novel Heart of Darkness portrays an image of Africa that is dark and inhuman. Not only does he describe the actual, physical continent of Africa as so hopeless and so dark, so impenetrable to human thought, so pitiless to human weakness (Conrad 94), as though the continent could neither breed nor support any true human life, but he also manages to depict Africans as though they are not worthy of the respect commonly due to the white man. At one point the main character, Marlow, describes one of the paths he follows: Can t say I saw any road or any upkeep, unless the body of a middle aged negro, with a bullet hole in the forehead, upon which I... Marlow often uses the phrase, We penetrated deeper and deeper into the heart of darkness (Conrad 68), to describe his progress on the Congo. By traveling farther and farther down the Congo, Marlow and his crew get closer and closer to the epicenter of this foreboding darkness, to the black heart of evil. Because of Africa s physical immensity and thick jungles, it appeared to be a land of the unknown where the silence . . . went home to one s very heart its mystery, its greatness, the amazing reality of its concealed life (56). This portrayal of Africa as both a romantic frontier and a foreboding wilderness continues to dominate in the minds of Westerners even today. Conrad depicts Africa as a land where the prehistoric has been preserved. He describes the journey up the Congo as something similar to a trip on a time machine: Going up that river was like traveling back to the earliest beginnings of the world, when vegetation rioted on the earth and the big trees were kings . . . There were moments when one s past came back to one, as it will sometimes when you have not a moment to spare to yourself; but it came in the shape of an unrestful and noisy dream, remembered with wonder amongst the overwhelming realities of this strange world of

How can those in healthcare capitalize on these changes to transform patient behavior to improve their adherence to therapies and apply the expanded knowledge to achieve greater healthliteracy to ultimately achieve better health outcomes? In spite of what we know and how technology can enhance our access to obtaining relevant data on the task at hand we are ultimately still faced with how engaged the patient is in their prescribed therapies and how well will they adhere to those therapies. Optimization of outcomes and care for patients is contingent on finding the sweet spot of balancing technology, knowledge, patient provider interactions with the capability and willingness of the patient. In William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, two individuals from different worlds find a way to come together even in the face of their families altercations to find true love. The play, Romeo and Juliet, expresses a rather optimistic view of life. In the play, the two lovers try to keep their lives positive despite what is going on in their personal lives. Though the nurse feels weak and needs some time to settle down a bit but instead she explains all of what happened to Juliet. This is an example of staying calm and happy when you are stressed or down. Romeo s new love interest brings a sense of distress to the Friar. The Friar has hope that the marriage could reunite the Capulet and Montague. He always keeps his hope throughout the play. The Friar acts as a friend to Juliet when Romeo was exiled. When Friar Lawrence hears the news that Romeo has been exiled he comes up with a plan for Juliet and says, Hold. Get you gone. Be strong and prosperous In this resolve (4.1.126). Interpretations Of Heritage In Everyday Use By Alice Walker Guided By My Heritage ( In Search 243) Interpretations of Heritage In Everyday Use, Alice Walker uses relics from Dee s past to demonstrate the importance of heritage through the understanding of inheritance and ancestry. Heritage in this story is understood as recognizing from where a person has originated. Walker correspondingly compares inheritanceto art, something which should be used daily and passed on to future generations. Heritage and inheritance both have the same French root word: heriter meaning inherit, implying that for one to truly realize and grasp their heritage they must first accept what they have inherited, in this case the quilts, and utilize them. In the story, being aware of one s heritage is a significant conflict that troubles the characters. At the end, Mama and Maggie are the ones that carry on their tradition in the present and truly understand the true meaning of heritage. Throughout the story exists an overlying theme of comprehension of one s heritage and ancestry. In contract to this theme, Dee is viewed as hypocritical when claiming she is reconnecting to her African roots, her supposed heritage, because numerous times she contradicts her beliefs and principles she is to uphold. At the age of eleven, his father died of tuberculosis, and Frost moved in with his paternal grandparents. Shortly after his father s death, his family relocated to Lawrence, Massachusetts. • 24. Narrative Structure Of Unforgiven Almost all movies have characteristics that categorize them in two or more genres. A great example of this being Unforgiven. The film s dark and cynical characters occasionally resemble that of a film noir while its overall narrative structure depicts itself as a classical western style film. While there is an argument to call Unforgiven a film noir, it is hard to deny the idea that the film is mainly a film of the western genre. The basis of this idea, mostly relies on the portrayal of the lead protagonist, and the end of the film. While it would be easy to use setting, lighting, camera angles, etc to manifest the idea, it would not do it justice. By using these narrative tropes, it becomes coherent that Unforgiven is just another well made film that uses the structure of a western to construct its plot. Clint Eastwood s character, William, is a perfect example of the western classic hero. For example, the character is unknown to both the viewer and to the society in the film. In The Structure of The Western Film, the author describes the second similarity found in a western film as The hero is a stranger to this society (41). One of the first scenes in Unforgiven shows William living in a small home accompanied by his kids far away from the rest of civilization. His dirtied appearance gives the audience the interpretation he is just an ordinary farmer trying to make a living and support his family. Media has been responsible for shaping the culture for generations through music, movies and television. It seems logical that since the media has an influence on society s norms when the media promotes violence and crime the audiences become more likely to imitate those behaviors. The media has been known to contribute to the violent culture through music, art, television and movies (action, suspense and horror); Movies and music where the dominant violent roles were occupied by men and when they involved women they were often accomplices or accessories to the crime. Although they may be amusing they are also exposing the audience to stereotypes of race and gender that dominate the culture. Even with gender roles becoming more diverse and women s roles in crime evolving, common culture stereotypes still flourish and the media continues to contribute. In most forms of media the criminal is almost always painted as a masculine villain, which causes the stereotype that men are only capable of being bad guys and woman are always the sweet innocent victims who need to be rescued. It contributes to the idea that woman are supposed to be loving and affectionate, so when women commit any deviant acts it is less socially acceptable than it would be for men. The first two papers focused on the origins of money and the theory behind this while the second two papers focused on the future of money. We will be comparing the conclusions of each author in their papers and giving commentary on them. Menger (1892) argues that money didn t originate because of government introduction, but instead that it emerged organically because the market required it. This is a direct contrast to Goodhart s (1998) view that money was given authority by government and without this, trade would revert to barter, which aligns with Yermack s (2013) conclusion that the privately generated Bitcoin is not a currency. Menger (1892) claims that trade would not exist without money because of the excessive search costs to find a double coincidence of wants and therefore barter was too inefficient to have ever occurred. He uses the term saleableness repeatedly in his paper when describing money and commodities and we must interpret what he means by this. He uses it to describe how a difference exists between all commodities in how easily one can trade with it. Dubois believes this is an insult to her and her appearance even though she hides her appearance because she does not want Mitch to see her for what she is an old women and a liar. This is another reason Mr. Kowalski has so much conflict with Miss Dubois. If Miss. Dubois would have just told the truth about why she was visiting and why she had to leave Laurel. Then most of the conflict could have been avoid. The only thing Miss. Dubois does not lieabout is that she was an English teacher I believe she does not lie about it because it is the one thing in her life that she had complete control of. I also believe her
  • 51. Essay On Siemens Scandal At first Siemens downplayed the affair saying that it was only a matter of a few millions Euros. However within a month their own estimate skyrocketed up to an amount of 420 million Euros. Furthermore Klaus Kleinfeld the then recently installed CEO, denied awareness or involvement. Siemens first statements were exemplary of an ill suited cursory attempting to downplay a developing scandal prematurely. This tactic appeared egoistical and lacked moral responsibility. It also damaged stakeholders impressions of Siemensintegrity and in general damaged its reputation in the public eye. Many viewed this defensive acknowledgement as incompetent. Then however Senior Executives made public pledges to restore the firm s battered reputation just a month later.Siemens mandated the New York law firm Debevoise and Plimpton LLP and several... This resulted in the departures of the CEO and Chairman, and the decision by the newly appointed CEO, Peter LГ¶scher, to announce a month long amnesty for employees to come forward, explicitly excluding, extending the scandal s reach into the previous management Board. What was especially remarkable was the fact that not individual but systemic elements contributed to this scandal. These include: a too aggressive growth strategy that portrayed bribes as a tempting short cut to hitting though performance targets; minimal oversight from HQ due to the fact that the de centralised, matrix like structure allowed divisions to effectively run themselves above all, it is a well known fact that Siemens corporate culture at the time which seemed openly tolerant of such

The low on nonexistent fpm s produced by these hoods are in violation of OSHA regulations. Putting garage doors on the equipment doors should be done after this. The free flow of lead from POS to other parts of the plant is of great concern to everyone s health. Keeping the lead in the POS department would make it much easier to control. The installation of a wind tunnel between POS and COS should be installed in the next couple years. A large sized capital improvement investment will be required for this construction. Personal hygiene, facility sanitation practices, and employee dietary needs should be instituted immediately. These changes have very little cost and do not require much labor downtime. Conclusion The blood lead levels in the Holland, Ohio facility are the worst not only in the United States, but the world as well. In order to lower these blood lead levels each changes and improvements must be made in all six categories outlined in this report. The changes range from simple policy changes that at little or no cost, to engineering controls that will be fairly expensive. I look forward to meeting with you and other plant leadership to discuss this study, and how to we should move forward with these recommendations to reduce blood lead levels in the Holland, Ohio facility. The Power Of Speech In Jane Austen s Persuasion At face value, Anne s speech in the published ending of Jane Austen s Persuasion seems to not quite follow with her quiet nature throughout most of the book. In the original unpublished conclusion to this book, Anne retains her standard silence that is her signature characteristic. However, with a modest amount of studying one will find Anne s remaining silent would not follow suit with her character s progression through the story. The reason though for her continued growth towards comfort in speech I believe to be directly tied to her continued growth back towards Captain Wentworth. Reading through this book we become accustomed to Anne being the silent character, leading us to feel like something is wrong when she begins to speak more and more. Due to this we are naturally drawn to question why Anne is speaking so much. More than this we must wonder, why Anne did not speak before this point? Throughout this book we are given enough information to see that Anne speaks much less in comparison to all the other characters, however we are never given anything to say why she is this way. One possible explanation that we find in Chapter 1 is this description of her relationship with her father and sisters, her word had no weight; her convenience was always to give way; she was only Anne. (Austen, 1817) This seems like quite enough to keep someone from speaking up as much, knowing that they would always get automatically shut down for being considered only Anne . This seems like a strange way for Anne s own family to treat her. Given, Sir Walter is not known for being the father of the year, but he at least treats his other two daughters with some form of fatherly love. The flaw in this though is that in the very last published chapter it is said that Sir Walter, indeed, though he had no affection for Anne, and no vanity flattered, to make him really happy on the occasion, was very far from thinking it a bad match for her. It is clearly stated that Sir Walter did not even have any affection towards his daughter Anne. This all lets us deny the idea of Sir Walter s view of his daughter affecting her reason for silence. The next possibility would be in her own sister s treatment of Anne. We see in the last
  • 54. Sun Observation Grid Report Purpose This study recorded the position of the Sun over the course of a day, on three different occasions each one month apart. Then compare how the daily motion of the Sun changes throughout the course of a year. To measure the course of the Sun a roofing nail is placed on a paper and the end of the shadow is recoded over the length of the day. Starting the recording at approximately 10am and ending around 6pm. Methodology The site choosing was a lot near my apartment. It was chosen because it had a lot of open area, flat land, and there were not a lot of trees or people around to obstruct the view of the sky. The open area made it easier to find a flat area to lay my paper on. The flat land helped so that there would be fewer variations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is represents the shortening of the daylight and the early setting of the Sun as it gets closer to winter. 1.How do the tracks observed for the three different days compare? a.They all have a similar pattern, but the length of the observations between hours gets shorter through the months. 2.From what you know about the path of the Sun across the sky, can you explain the differences between the paths of the Sun on the horizontal sundial for the three observations? a.When the Sun is directly above the nail it makes a smaller shadow. When the Sun is low in the sky shadows become longer. Since winter is coming the shadows recorded become farther away from the nail and shorter in length from hour to hour because of the loss of daylight and the time its recorded. 3.How would changing of the location where the observations are made (for example Caracas, Venezuela) affect the path of the Sun on the horizontal plane Sundial? a.Caracas, Venezuela is near the equator. The daylight time does not change near the equator. All year round the amount of daylight, and night time are the same. This would make every observation nearly the same instead of mine which are different from each

  • 56. An American Economy Essay An American Economy Globalization is a very pressing issue in the American culture today. Within any economy, globalization will cause many problems while at the same time solving many others. This is true because there are many factors involved with globalization, one of the most important being job outsourcing. While at first glance and from what the media reports, job outsourcing is definitely not healthy for the economy. However on upon closer inspection, the reverse may be true. Job outsourcing, though initially stressing on the workforce, is helpful in creating a strong economy. Job outsourcing creates an initial job loss to the area in which it concerns. This happens because in a global economy, the idea is to move ones ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The media and politicians attacked IBM for its un American policies, the other event was IBM s high second quarter profits that allowed for a one third reduction to their lay offs. Though that may not seem like a big deal, it is considering that when they announced their 5,000 layoffs, they also announced their addition of 5,000 other American jobs to the payroll. No one heard their second announcement through all the fuss over the companies outsourcing. With that taken into consideration however, IBM actually increased the number of American workers, making a healthier economy. The attack of the media and politicians on IBM is not even close to new. Any company with plans to cut costs by moving jobs over seas is seen as an evil monster creating a permanent job loss. The permanent job loss is an idea that has been around for some time. In the eighties and early nineties, there was a lot of doubt over our economies ability to recover from the departure of our manufacturing jobs. Then, starting in the mid to late nineties was the panic over e commerce and dot.com companies destroying old economy jobs. The fact is, our economy is always changing and there will always be a permanent loss of jobs. That s what happened when the US changed from an agricultural economy to an industrial one and from an industrial one to a technological one. Now it is happening again as we change from a mostly local economy to a very global one. In order to keep the
