This caused a shift towards a fast growing consumer society. Slowly the Chinese began to be able
to buy more consumer goods due to their increased revenue. However, the dawn of the 80 s
made Deng question the growth of China. A fear for two much freedom and inflation made
Deng re polarize and backtrack, slowly limiting spending. This form of rising expectations met
by failed expectations from the young and growing consumer market ultimately led to the fatal

The Giver: Analyzing Characters and Topics The character in the story that I was most fascinated
by was the Giver. This character has many admirable qualities. He is resilient against the painful
and hard memories he has seen and he is loving. He and Jonas are the only two characters in the
story that are even capable of loving. While reading this story, I felt as though the Giverand Jonas
were lucky because they get to understand and feel love, but on the other end of the spectrum,

inception in 1776 ever this has evolved from personnel, to rank structure, even the uniforms but the
one piece of equipment that has seen the most change has been the weaponry; more specifically the

Abstract The little ice age gave us a glimpse as to how climate change can affect our society. This is
especially important today as we stand on the brink of another environmental catastrophe. The
acceleration of greenhouse gas output has irrevocably changed how mankind affects the
environment. The lessons that we can learn from studying the little ice age may lead us to
understanding what we can do stop this process.

It removes the time needed for adaptation and causes a great loss of life in the process. Globally,
millions due to the direct and indirect influences of the little ice age. Every major death event
and war during this period from the black plague to Napoleon s failed campaign into Russia, the
French revolution, and the Irish potato famine are tied to the little ice age. The little ice age was
preceded by a warmer wetter period that allowed people to become reliant on certain crops and
weather patterns for their survival. Several events occurred within a short period of time to start
this cooling period that lasted 500 years. The warm period called the medieval maximum actually
set events in motion. It is hypothesized that this warm period melted global ice packs, introducing a
large volume of fresh water into the ocean interrupting the thermohaline flow. This stopped warm

sunspots. This results in less radiation reaching earth and less warmth available. The third event was

Science should be taught as a verb as well as a noun. Performing science is a compelling as well
as an effective way to learn. It is through the process of exploration, creation and invention that
theories are applied, ideas are tested and knowledge is synthesized.

factors that affect the properties of these gases and so the laws of gases which help to do so. Now

When do you actually become an adult? There are legal terms that qualify someone as an adult, but

My Writing That I Did Not Know Before
Over the course of this class I have learned many things about writing that I did not know before,
because I never had any great instruction before i came to college. In Grade school and high
school, when I got back a graded paper there would just be words crossed out, or punctuation
corrections. There would never be any explanation as to why I need to correct this, or why this
is wrong. I would go over the corrections and wonder how this is wrong and why does a comma
go there but why doesn t a comma go here. When reading the corrections and notes you made on
each of my papers this year, I more easily understood why something was wrong. I might not have
made the same corrections in the next paper, but each paper I got back I understood what was
wrong, and what I needed to do to correct it. I think I understood more about writingwith each
paper that I wrote this year. I might not have shown it with each paper because I seem to always
make the same errors. I always get mixed up when using singular and plural nouns, using the
same adjective throughout the paper, and not being descriptive. I knew after you made the
corrections why something is wrong, but I never seemed to make the corrections myself, because
I have a habit of making those same mistakes, and because it sounds like it is right to me because
I speak that way myself. Those errors I made in each of my papers seemed to be right at the time
