Propaganda And Doublespeak And The World Of Doublespeak
The language of propaganda and doublespeak have an extended history, going back to the earliest
civilizations. Propaganda and doublespeak are the use of verbal exchange to have an impact on the
emotions, attitudes, and opinions of human beings. To try to get them to approve on a particular
political, religious, or economic point of view, or even to start a war. It is suspicious manipulation of
the opinions of the societies to a large extent by their government. In the effort to manage the nation s
thought process, the government has used the language of mass propaganda and doublespeak for
selling war.
In the essay, Propaganda: How Not to be Bamboozled, and The World of Doublespeak, both writers
discuss and explains the unusual types of propaganda and the misleading types of doublespeak. First,
Donna Woolfolk Cross labels the structures and the detailed methods propaganda presented in our day
by day life, and how to avoid being tricked. Also Cross thinks that it is important for people in a
democratic society to be well knowledgeable about propaganda due to how people get manipulated
into simply doing something except thinking. Additionally, Cross explains for us as readers the
different sorts of propaganda and how we view the topics in a positive way. She highlights in her
essay that propaganda is not continually negative; however, it also used in significant ways. Cross
presents in her essay that there are thirteen different types of

Summary Of Remembering My Childhood On The Continent Of...

Journal Entry #2
David Sedaris s Remembering My Childhood on the Continent of
Africa Journal Response In the comparison and contrast essay, Remembering My Childhood on the
Continent of Africa, by David Sedaris, the author talks about the jealousy he feels towards the
excitement present in his friend Hugh s life. David Sedaris explores the contrast in the dullness of his
own childhood with the adventurous lifestyle of his friend s childhood. Using descriptions, personal
experiences of his friend and himself, and language, Sedaris explains why he takes satisfaction in
passing his friend s stories as though they were his own since the stories were more interesting. The
field trips, environment, and activities all contribute in the development of the difference in lifestyle
between them. The subject of Sedaris s comparison and contrast in this essay is to show the aspects of
both Hugh and the author s childhood, that would cause the author to feel proud using his friend s
stories as his own. For instance, the author states that, When I was young I went to the theater at the
nearby shopping center and watched a movie about a talking Volkswagen... Like me, Hugh saw the
movie by himself on a weekend afternoon. Unlike me, he left the theater two hours later, to find a
dead man hanging from a telephone pole at the far end of the unpaved parking lot (Sedaris 182). The
quote above indicates that the author is being naĂŻve and childish. No boy or child who is as young as
he was should feel pleasure in seeing a dead person. The thesis of this essay is as follows, Certain
events are parallel, but compared with Hugh s, my childhood was unspeakably dull. When I was seven
years old, my family moved to North Carolina. We had a collie and a house cat. When he was seven
years old, Hugh s family moved to the Congo. They had a monkey and two horses named Charlie and
Satan. I threw stones at stop signs. Hugh threw stones at crocodiles (Sedaris 181). This clearly informs
the reader that the author is envious of Hugh s childhood since his was extremely boring. Additionally,
the thesis is stated and not implied because the author openly asserts that, When I m told such stories,

Descriptive Essay Monologue
Chicken, yeah I ll show you chicken. In case you haven t been stalking me as of fifteen seconds ago, I
was just dared to go hit on this girl because I may or may not have been checking her out. I mean what
do you want me to do she is pretty attractive. Taking my stroll over to the beautiful girl s table, I
definitely began to have second thoughts. Moving closer and closer I could see every bit of detail in
her hair, her skin, everything. She had a face of an angel. I was definitely having second thoughts I
should probably retreat or just run far far far away. As I looked back the guys were watching like a
hawk watches its prey. Well you probably heard Scottie s point of view on her well the book is pretty
popular. Anyway this ain t about him this is about me. Wow that sounds very self centered of me to
say but this is my story. Either way I just walked over to her and well I did feel something weird,
almost as if my legs were vibrating and well bad things happened. I almost threw up, however I
resisted the urge to regurgitate all over the floor and become the laugh of the year. Well luckily no
body fluid came out of me. Well, this was a situation I did not enjoy being in I made a noise that
sounded something like hello, did I fool you no, look I am not Scottie I can talk to girls. I simply said,

The Eiffel Tower
Just three hundred meters of nothing but iron. It stands tall, France s largest attraction, which is
frequented by millions of visitors each year. It has become its trademark. Everyone in the world,
automatically associate Paris with an Eiffel Tower, its icon. Everyone s imagines being on top, looking

It also received a lot of criticism for its design and was even called metal asparagus .
It took 132 workers 2 years, 2 months and 5 days to complete the project. Despite the riskiest design
to construct, due to all the safety measures being taken, only 1 man died, during the installation of the
elevators, which travel at a 60 degree curve. The men used 18,038 pieces of wrought iron and 2.5
million rivets to build the 1023 ft. height monument which weighs 10,100 tons . The base pillars of the
tower are oriented with the four points of the compass. It was the tallest building in the world for over
40 years, before the Chrysler Building in New York City was built in 1930. The original design
housed an apartment for Gustave Eiffel at the very top of the tower. McCollum writes, The sky high
hideaway had plush rugs, oil paintings, and even a grand piano (22). The paint on the tower gets
changed every 7 years and weighs as much as 10 elephants. During different weather conditions, the
tower can sway 5 inches and during the intense heat, can grow up to 7 inches in height. It takes
exactly 1665 steps to climb to the top of the tower. The lifts operating the tower travel over two and a
half times the circumference of Earth per year.
Until the 1909, the tower was lit exclusively by the gas lamps only and today it is being lighted by
over 20,000 light bulbs and 336 spotlights. It s important to note that this architectural wonder was

New Calendar Dbq Essay
The reasons for then new calendar in revolutionary France during 1789 1806 argued that with this new
calendar it would help with the three goals of the revolution, Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity.
Although they thought that to be true the reaction of a person and reactions of a group prove the new
calendar to be a mistake. With the revolution in mind the leaders during this time wanted to achieve a
sense of Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity. With the Equality part in mind Gilbert Romme, head of the
reform for the new calendar, in his speech Report on the Republican Era, gave us a couple reasons of
why the old calendar should change. He stated that it was used to mark fanaticism, persecution, and all
the bad things related to virtue, talent, and philosophy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

limiting these there would be less worship of God. (Doc 1) Others of course still argued against it,
farmers were getting first hand experience on what working for nine days in was like, and wanted to

production but was weakening it. (Doc 6) A government newspaper, Gazette de France, actually

Why Hazing Should Be Allowed In College
College life brings many thoughts to mind friendships, football , pizza, late nights, parties,
fraternities, sororities, as well as racial discrimination, binge drinking, hazing and dying. The latter
part of this list may not come naturally to most people, but they are frightening realities of the Greek
system. Parents send their children to college assuming they will be in a safe, educational environment
while enjoying all the benefits campus life has to offer, including fraternities and sororities. They do
not expect a phone call in the early hours of the morning notifying them of their child s death. Since
March of 2000, over 60 people have died in events associated with fraternities, alcohol and/or hazing
(Marklein p. A3). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A national survey of college students by Harvard researchers found that nearly half of males and more
than a third of females engage in binge drinking. Among Greek students the numbers skyrocket: 86%
of fraternity members and 80% of sorority members living in chapter houses are likely to engage in
binge drinking (Marklein). The frequent focus fraternities and sororities place on alcohol encourages
excessive consumption, unfortunately causing the development of alcoholism and incidents of alcohol
poisoning. The term hazing is defined as any conduct or method of initiation into any student
organization, whether on public or private property, which willfully or recklessly endangers the
physical or mental health of any student or other person (UMass). Whipping, beating, branding, forced
calisthenics, exposure to the weather, forced consumption of food, liquor, beverages, , brutal
treatment, extended isolation, sleep deprivation, and forced physical activities that adversely affect
physical health and safety are just some known acts of hazing that Greek members may force their
brothers and sisters to undergo. Imagine getting an update from your college student. Your freshman
son calls home, reporting he has just made the lacrosse team and is excited to receive his fraternity pin
the next day. The following morning the phone rings, but it is not your beloved child. A policeman
calls to inform you that your son had just died of

Prior Restraint A government preventing material from being published; this is a common method of
limiting the press in some nations, but it usually unconstitutional in the United States according to the
First Amendment and as confirmed in the 1931 Supreme Court case of Near v. Minnesota. o This issue
was actually challenged though in court and was upheld in Near v. Minnesota. o However, it does
depend on who the group is that was to do the actual publishing. o For example, college students will
most likely be given more restrictions compared to official working newspaper or magazine
corporations. Many organizations are even allowed to press and report on topics that even regard

One particular group, led by Osama bin Laden, used these funds later to form Al Qaeda, a terrorist
organization which has been an ever present thorn in the side of the US since the 90s.
These consequences, among others, demonstrate the consequences of a society driven by fear. This is
reflected in the world of Blade Runner, where people live in fear and paranoia of the replicants,
creating tests to find these replicants and creating a police force for killing them. It even got to the
point where replicant life spans were shortened to prevent them from developing emotion. Like the
US government, the people of the world of Blade Runner ignored how the discrimination would affect
those discriminated against.

Conflicting Parties Case Study Analysis
Conflicting Parties Case Study Analysis
When working in tight quarters, there are countless ways of unintentionally impeding on a colleague s
work habits. Due to a shared office, Brian and Jon are no exception. While striving to complete work
tasks through the means each is comfortable with and accustom to, each individual s work style habits
imposes on the other s. Unfortunately due to space limitations, separating Brian and Jon to two
separate offices is not a possibility. However, through thoughtful conflict resolution, Brian and Jon can
negotiate the means to more forward working together, without continuing to distract the other with
their own work style.
Conflict Resolution In broad terms, conflict resolution refers to the process two or more individuals
utilize in order to reach an agreement to a dispute or debate (Miall, Ramsbotham Woodhouse, 1999).
While there are many specific components to conflict resolution, the application of each facet is
strongly tied to the specifics of each individual conflict. In the case of Brian and Jon s office space
conflict, the pair should examine the relevant concepts of fractionation, framing, reframing, and
common ground. Ultimately, if the two colleague s cannot reach an agreement(s) on how to move
forward working together, mediation can be utilized as a last resort.
Fractionation
As one of the many components of conflict resolution, fractionation is a concept which should be
utilized early in the conflict resolution

No-No Boy Essay
In the novel, No No Boy, John Okada provides an ideological perspective of a young Japanese
American during the aftermath of World War II that gives the reader an insight into the racial
discrimination towards a race that is rarely acknowledged in United States history. The author uses the
past of Ichiro to determine the effect it has on his family to guide the story and appeal to the reader s

Mental And Physical Effects Of Marijuana
Mental and Physical Effects of Marijuana
Marijuana also named weed, hash, pot, Mary Jane, and many others is, according to the National
Institute on Drug Abuse, the number one used illegal and addictive drug around the globe
(Williamson, Buckland, Cunningham, 2013). Users of the psychoactive plant range anywhere from
adolescents to senior citizens, and from all social and economic classes. It has, in recent years, gained
approval by the FDA for use as a medicine to help treat symptoms of various illnesses both mental and
physical. Thousands of individuals are now using marijuana, and numbers are likely to increase, as the
drug may be on the verge of being legalized nation wide. Surveys from the United States show large
support in using marijuana for recreational purposes 56% and support for its use as medicine 70%
(Gonzalez Swanson, 2012). Though multitudes of people use the drug for its effects and potential
benefits, not many know exactly how it achieves these things within ones bodies or their minds.
People, whether using the drug or not, need to know what marijuana is, how it interacts with the body
and brain, and the effects that are produced from this interaction.
What is Marijuana?
Marijuana is actually a plant called Cannabis sativa or more specifically, its leaves and flowers. These
sections of the plant are removed, dried up, rolled into cigarettes, and smoked (Fackelmann, 1993).

History And History Of Math
History of Math in Egypt We use math almost daily in our lives, but how many of us think about the
history of math? Math began with early humans in the form of scratches and was carried into ancient
Egypt and Greece (Mastin).Today, Egypt s population is roughly 94 million (The World Factbook).
However, back in 3000 BC, scholars estimate that between one to four million people lived in the Nile
River Valley. The Egyptians called this region Kemet which translates to Black Land (O Connor and
Robertson; Lesko 135 44). As society began to be more complex and people began to trade for
services and goods, a need for a counting system arose (O Connor and Robertson). At the time, the

Twenty five problems are written on the papyrus and these were translated by Egyptologist Vasily
Vasilievich Struve. These problems use algebra as well as geometry (Gardener). The Egyptians used
and created many forms of math that we still use today. Their advancements in both writing forms and
mathematics help people today in more ways than they could have imagined. Also, numerous things
were discovered when Jean François Champollion in 1822 translated hieroglyphs for the first time
(Lesko 135 44). Lastly, we no longer write in picture symbols that few people can decipher and still
use a base ten counting system. Math in Egypt and Today The Egyptians utilized many forms of math
in their daily lives. Among these were various algebra and geometry problems(Gardner). Around 2700
BC, a base ten counting system that used different symbols such as a stroke for the number one, a heel
bone symbol for 10, a coil of rope for 100, and a lotus plant for 1,000 was developed (Mastin). Base
ten is a numbering system that uses a decimal for any number smaller than one. Once a number
exceeds nine it moves to the next place (the tens place) (Russel). Furthermore, the Egyptians could
also estimate the area of a circle by guessing that if the area of a circle with a diameter of nine units
was close to the area of a square with sides of eight units, that the area of that circle could be
calculated by multiplying the diameter by 8⁄9 and then squaring it (Mastin). In order to find the

Analysis Of The Hand Tool And Cutlery Manufacturing...
On first glance of the Hand tool and cutlery manufacturing industry one might think narrow minded
and say this industry is for construction and construction only. At least that is what came to my mind
upon randomly selecting the industry from a basket in my advanced marketing management class.
However, upon researching into this industry one will realize how vast this industry is and for this
report we will focus on this industry in the United States. For instance, in everyday life we use or at
least own things that make up a part of this industry such as vacuums, lawnmowers, kitchen knives,
and even jewelry to name a few. Yes, it also includes power tools and yes construction company s do
play a big role as buyers in this industry but they are not the leading players and consumers. So who
are the major players that purchase from this industry? Well big time company s such as Home Depot,
Walmart, and Sears play a vital role in the success of the hand tool and cutlery manufacturing industry
and losing one of these top dogs would certainly impact the companies that make up the industry
which leads me to my next discussion in the introduction. Who makes up the industry? Who are the
key suppliers? When looking into the industry s major players in the US I turned to Ibis World.com
and they stated The Procter and Gamble Company, Stanley Black and Decker Inc., Edgewell Personal
Care Co, and Snap on Inc. These are the power houses in the industry. The remainder of this report

In order to establish an architecture for a system, we need to know the purpose and scope of the
application, its importance and relationship to the overall strategic goals of the organization based on
known requirements of the system being developed. However in an Agile environment where the
requirements are groomed iteratively and change is constant, establishing architecture and design
would be a daunting task. Especially if the system being developed is large enterprise level solution,
iterative architecture and design could result in a lot of rework and redundancy. If there are many
integration points and functionality spans across multiple applications, defining enterprise level
architecture helps the software being developed to align with strategic goals of the enterprise, helping
business capabilities to be shared across organizations. But establishing such architecture in an Agile
environment would be challenging. This paper addresses this issue and establishes a process for
architecture development for enterprise level applications. The paper defines a process to develop a
software solution which spans across multiple legacy applications using Agile principles . The
approach explained in the paper has been adopted for the development of software which modernizes
legacy data capture and is intended to establish a framework for enterprise level services in the future.
The solution spans across 6 legacy software systems.

The Rosewood Hotels Resorts
The Rosewood Hotels Resorts is a private hotel management company founded in Dallas, Texas by
Caroline Rose Hunt Trust Estate in 1979. The company had been adopting an individual branding
positioning strategy, for which it managed a collection of hotels across continents under individual
property names. This positioning strategy had helped differentiate Rosewood from corporate chain
like competitors in the same industry. Prior to 2003, Rosewoods focused mainly on acquiring and
renovating properties, building 12 unique and distinctive hotels globally. This strategy proved
successful, despite the fact that the John Scott, the company s CEO and Robert Boulogne, the COO
were concerned that the company was missing out the opportunity for potential growth in brand
recognition. However, after 25 years of operation, in the year of 2004, the company encountered some
business challenges that became barriers in raising brand awareness and customer retentions.
Issue Statement
Rosewood s individual brand strategy was consistent with their brand concept: A sense of Place ,
which was the underlying standards Rosewood capitalized upon when developing their properties.
This concept implies that each hotel needed to be tailored in a way such that the unique features and
characteristics of a specific location were emphasized and prominent, in respect of interior designs,
services and amenities. This positioning strategy was sufficient to generating considerable revenues

Preludes J Alfred Prufrock
In compliance with Jeanette Winterson s perspective, the struggle for resolution and meaning within
the Modern world due to the rapidly changing social context of the era is underscored through the
judicious use of poetic rhythms and images which has contributed to the enduring value of poetry. The
internal struggles due to the contradicting desire for relationships and the desire for solidarity, and the
uncertainty that underpins the search for spiritual fulfilment are encapsulated in T.S. Eliot s poetry.
This notion can be seen particularly through the thorough examination of Eliot s poems Preludes
(1917) and The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock (1915) as the audiences over time are exposed to the
complexity of the human psyche which illuminates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eliot displays these stresses of Modern Urban life through the dramatic monologue of the protagonist
Prufrock in his poem The Love Song of J.Alfred Prufrock which the speaker embarks on a journey to
try to overcome the powerful sense of meaninglessness in the world that has lost its religious faith.
The poem opens up with Prufrock constantly repeating the phrase Let us go which is an invitation for
the reader to travel with Prufrock as tries to find meaning in life. This is due to the epigraph presented
earlier whereby it alludes to Count Guido who is trapped in Hell and must endure the same limited
experience for eternity. This intertextual reference acts as a mirror to Prufrock s psyche, asserting his
dour thoughts on how his life is stalling and meaningless. Prufrock states how he has measured out my
life in coffee spoons which captures the unfulfilling and boring nature of Prufrock s life. This
metaphorical comparison crystallises how his life is carefully calculated and lived in small and
measured amounts, affirming the banality of his life. Thus Prufrock embarks on an active search for
meaning as evidenced by the line Let us go .... Streets that follow like a tedious argument if insidious
intent to lead you to an overwhelming question ... do not ask What is it let go make our visit . Despite
the modern society suggesting there is no answer to the overwhelming question he can t help but
pursue it because it is purely instinctive. However, nearing the end of the poem Prufrock states even
though he has wept and fasted, wept and prayed he exaggerates that he is stretched on the floor which
reveals how his spiritual journey has tore him apart as there was no

Ellen Kirschman, author of I Love a FireFighter, suggests proven ways to treat cases of traumatic
stress that is experienced while on the job. Her suggestions include cognitive behavioral therapy,
exercise, medications, and eye movement and desensitization reprocessing, commonly known as
EMDR. In addition to these professional coping options, other coping mechanisms include expressing
yourself and sharing your fears and experience, creating a mission for your life to create meaning, and
distracting yourself which can provide a little temporary relief with something new and engaging to
occupy your thoughts. (p.189) I believe based on this information, it may be more helpful for a
firefighter and other emergency responders to cope via the latter mentioned mechanisms because they
focus more on the individual s fears, experiences, and emotions. Creating meaning in your life and
finding enjoyable hobbies to distract from work can help to unload much of the stress from the job.
Furthermore, researchers tend to agree that expressing your emotion is beneficial for dealing with
stress. According to the authors of the paper Trauma exposed Firefighters , Firefighters and other first

There are many ways that soldiers lives are the same and different from the civil war and the wars that
we fight today. Soldiers back in the older wars had very hard times dealing with injuries and going
home after the. We still have that problem today with our soldiers but we have better ways to deal with
it. Today for soldiers we have people that soldiers can come and talk to about what happened while
they were over there and to help them feel better. Also we have trainers that will come to homes to
help them get back on their feet if they were injured in the war. There are so many more ways to help
out these days then there was back when the civil war and vietnam war were going on. The people
back home also support there troops a lot. So

The Challenges Of King Arceus I And The Midgard Empire
Thousand of years ago, the world was in chaotic where there were two empires fought to spread their
influences and territory. The empires had fought for a long time since their ancestors. The Satanic
Empire was known for its barbarous, merciless prevail while its foe, the Midgard Empire, was known
for its equality, harmonic reign. Even though both empires had different ways of ruling, they both had
arisen a great and superior civilization of all time. Nevertheless, they never reached a consensus for a
peace. Dissent and political understanding to prevent peace talks between them had led them to war
for thousand of years. Until then, King Arceus I, who was appointed to succeed his father, had brought
the Midgard Empire to triumph when he has successfully completed the 100 Crisis War against the
Satanic Empire. Thus, giving room to great civilization lasting for 2000 years, beginning from King
Arceus I and ended with the reign of a king who has weak governance, filled with fraud and
corruption as well as the division of powers in the region under Midgard Empire caused by the

Mr. Grudem s Argument Against Racism
I ve read this and been thinking about it. Here is my response to this the editorial. First of all, OF
COURSE Christians should try to influence elections... so should everyone else! My concern about
the focus is that so often it seems that the Christians Mr. Grudem is trying to influence try to tie their
political opinions, policy positions, and those whom they support with their religion. I very rarely see
this link as being positive; typically it is short sighted and replaces critical thinking of far sighted
potential ramifications of a policy to blind obedience to a faith based system of thought. That is not
healthy, and it is certainly not Christianity. So I agree with the principle, but I am reading something
sinister between the lines. Paranoia on my part? Possibly, but recent history of certain religious groups
selling out to a certain political party suggest otherwise.
His basis for voting for flawed candidate is, in fact, a good one in my opinion. Since all people are
flawed in many respects, then it is incumbent to look at the flaws and decide if one person may be
more beneficial to the life of a nation than the other flawed candidate. Honestly, who ... Show more

Grudem then cleverly dismisses some of Trump s accusations as... the printings of a hostile media! In
an incredible sleight of hand, he offers up his business conduct as a defense against racism (forget
about what he says... really?), being anti immigrant (hell, he has been in trouble for hiring illegal
immigrants in the past, and don t worry, walls solve everything anyway), and misogynistic (again,
Trump has expounded in great detail his contempt for women (at least those who stand against his
ideals), but don t listen, look at his business deals.) I think we should look at his business deals, but
when they show what we would expect to see from a person who is egotistical, bombastic, brash,
vindictive, and unfaithful, Mr. Grudem will simply do a little gymnastics and explain why this shouldn

cookie dough, 32 pounds of icing, enough oven space for 140 dozen cookies, and 15 hours for
preparation time. As for the solution to your little situation, with 75 plain and 50 iced dozen cookies
you can expect a topping profit of $212.50. To achieve this you will need to use 110 pounds of cookie

Alas, we could not find out solution through there, not only would it take a while trying random
numbers, but we wouldn t have a way to check if it were the maximum. We instead got better use of
those equations through finding inequalities that d be plotted. We were able to find all solutions that
would work through a feasible region the intersections of the lines created in the graph. (see visual).
You may ask (I know I did), with all these solutions how ever would we find the best solution ? An
accurate response to that would be through an optimal expression. We took the profit expression and
made it equal to a certain profit, $310. After solving, (see visual) the points received were 80, 100. We
then used the line from these two points (by moving it upward) to find further higher profits within the
feasible region, giving us the idea that we could estimate the highest possible profit by taking our line
to the last stretching corner of the feasible region. Although confident with this answer, we chose not
to simply rely on the graph. We found the exact coordinates through solving the equations of the two
lines intersecting at the last stretching corner. (see visual) We isolated one variable, found its value and
used that value to and find the other and thus our solution was

A Career In Nursing
There are many factors that attribute to my desire to pursue a career in nursing. My personal
experiences in health care settings, both as a patient and as a volunteer, brought to my attention my
strong desire to live a life that will impact others in a positive way. A career in nursing is a perfect
channel through which I can fulfill this desire to make a difference in the lives of others.
Throughout my life, I have seen nurses that went above and beyond to help the patient, as well as
those that did the bare minimum required of them. I have seen how a nurse has the potential to either
ease the anxiety in a room or worsen it. I have always greatly respected the nursing position and

I volunteer at the Kennedy Health Care Center, and as a volunteer, I am directly involved with the

interacting with confused and scared individuals because many of the residents at the facility have
some form of dementia. I will never forget one specific interaction that taught me a valuable lesson on
the impact of those working in healthcare. There was an elderly resident in the facility that was known
to be difficult to deal with. She would incessantly cry out Save me! although there was nothing wrong.
Because this was typical behavior for the women, the people around her would often pay little
attention to her. One afternoon I saw that this women s cries were irritating the other residents in the
dayroom. I went up to the women and began talking to her to try to calm her down. I was able to get
her to realize that there was nothing wrong. Once she was calm I asked her if she would like me to

entire mood change. Instead of shouting, she spent the rest of the afternoon showing off her newly

The Hilarious Entertainment Of Max And Uncle John Putting...
The hilarious entertainment of Max and Uncle John putting together the Doughboy swimming pool a
distant memory, they now felt like they were the envy of the neighborhood to get such a luxury item.
Not being tall enough to touch the bottom of the pool, Sam, Susan, and Beth each had to wear a bright
orange life jacket which kept them afloat, but prevented them from learning how to swim before going
on the family vacation to Camp Livingstone. The fact that Susan did not know how to swim would be
the prelude to one of the most embarrassing and traumatizing events in her life.

Now that is music to my ears, embarrassing and traumatizing.

Camp Livingstone, an amazing family campground, was packed with fun filled activities from sunup
till sundown. There was something for everyone: swimming, canoeing, water bicycles, arts and crafts,
and nightly canteen parties for the teenagers. One of the family rules while vacationing at Camp
Livingstone was to be paired off in groups of two or more at all times. No one was ever allowed to
wander off alone.
On the first day of their weeklong stay, Millie and Susan were paired off. They walked from their tent
to the lake, about the distance of two football fields. The event s coordinator announced a swimming
contest would begin on the shoreline and end at the square platform 100 yards away.
Millie pressured Susan, Come on, Sue. Let s do the race.

How Does Frost Use Figurative Language In Birches
The poem, Birches written by Robert Frost, depicts author s personal desire to escape the normality of
life through the mirage of climbing a birch tree. With distinctive use of diction, imagery, and
figurative language, Frost manages to indirectly understand his way of perceiving life. His view of the
normality and repetition that exists everyday is hidden within words written.
When seeing Birch trees, bent by the cumbersome snow of the long winter, Frost likes to imagine a
boy s been swinging them (Frost, 3). This is a portrayal of his desire to escape the mundane
characteristics of everyday life, and enjoy himself by imagining the boy riding them down over and
over again (29). Life can be laborious and stressful, and there are always going to be hard
uncertainties that can strain the individual s mind, and using figurative language helps the author show
this by comparing it to a worn branch. Frost shows his internal feelings with, They are ... Show more

separates the norm with the abnormalities. However, he knows that life is like a play, carefully
constructed and set for a reason; the author acknowledges this, May no fate willfully misunderstand

Electronic Conveyancing ( E Conveyancing )
Electronic conveyancing (e conveyancing) was born as an inspired idea of the Land Registry back in
the early 2000s. Prior to that, with the ever increasing presence of technology in our day to day lives,
as well as business dealings, paper based Land Registry details had begun to be computerised. Almost
all registered titles of land had been entered on to a computer based system by roughly the year 1995.
There was a basic, rather rudimentary, usage of computer systems. A system of direct access to a
computerised register was introduced in 1995, called the Land Registry Direct. (One of the tasks that
were thus enabled, for example, was being able to notify the registry of a discharge of a registered
charge, or applications to a register.) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Land Registry came to the conclusion of employing a comprehensive system of e conveyancing.
The report produced a detailed outline of the anticipated model of e conveyancing. The problems of
paper based conveyancing as several. England s traditional conveyance system stands upon multitudes
of paper documents and a heavy reliance on the standard mail. Both parties to the the transaction,
buyers and sellers, are subject to many possible problems within the conveyancing process. A primary
concern is the registration gap. This is the time between the transfer of drawn up and agreed up
contracts and the actual registration of the property unto the new owner. Particular issues with the
registration gap is the fact that in any transaction there are too many parties involved, length of
transaction is too long and the transparency/opaqueness is questionable/questioned. One of the
original few problems identified within the previous system by the LR was the issue of overriding
interests. These are third party interests that continue to bind the estate and are enforceable against the
purchaser, while not appearing on the register at all. This makes it impossible to fully rely on the
register, as it produces an actual risk to the purchaser. The inevitable solution is to still do the
investigation (enquiries and inspection). The LR

1.1 Data Encryption Standard
Data Encryption standard was one of the predetermined symmetric algorithms for the encryption of
data. DES was developed in early 1970s at IBM and based on an earlier design by Horst Feistel.
DES is one of the most and significant modern symmetric encryption algorithm, for many years DES
was known as secret code making . The algorithm was developed in early 1970s, but due to some
controversies the algorithm was published in January 1977 as an algorithm to be used for the

Key mixing: the expansion word is XORed with a round key constructed by selecting 48 bits from the
56 bits secret key, a different selection is used in each round.
Substitution: the 48 bits result is split into eight bit words which are substituted in eight parallel 6 * 4
bit S boxes. All the S boxes, are different but have the same special structure.
Permutation (P): the resulting 32 bits are reordered according to a fixed permutation before being sent
as the output.
1.3 ALGORITHM
[1] In the first step, the 64 bit plain text block is handed over to initial permutation (IP) function.
[2] The initial permutation is performed on the input plain text.
[3] The initial permutation results in two halves of permuted block: LBlock and RBlock.
[4] Each of LBlock and RBlock goes through 16 rounds of the encryption process, each with its own
key.
[5] From the 56 bit key, a different 48 bit sub key is generated using the transformation.
[6] The 48 bit is XORed with the 48 bit RBlock and the resulting output is given in the next step.
[7] Using the S box substitution procedure the 32 bit from 48 bit input.
[8] These 32 bit are permuted using P box permutation.
[9] The P box output 32 bits are XORed with the LBlock 32 bits.
[10] The result of the XORed 32 bits is become the RBlock and the old RBlock becomes the LBlock.
This process is called swapping.

Analyzing Financial Statements of Mandrake Motorcycle
When companies have an interest in partnering, it is prudent for each to conduct a financial analysis
ensuring that both parties are making a sound investment. The purpose of the financial analysis is to
scrutinize the profitability and financial stability of a company, while addressing any concerns
(Jiambalvo, 2014, p. 535). In the case study, Bob Sherman founder of Mandrake Motorcycle
manufacturing made a proposal to Marty Monk Fisher, a motorcycle dealer. Fisher proposed that
Monk be the sole dealer for his motorcycles in the state of Ohio. Before investing, Mr. Sherman must
do a financial analysis on Mandrake Motorcycle to insure that there are no financial concerns. This
paper will analyze Mandrakes Motorcycle s balance sheet, and income statement calculating the ratios
for 2015 and 2014. The calculated ratios will include, return on assets, gross margin percentage,
receivables turnover, days sales in receivables, inventory turnover, days sales in inventory, debt to
equity, and times interest earned. In addition, the paper will highlight areas of concern, and discuss
what is the best decision for Monk based on the analysis. Finally, the paper will ascertain whether the
financial analysis was indicative of future financial issues for Mandrake Motorcycles.

The Cause of the Asian Financial Crisis
This is a review of the political reasons that caused the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997. The review is

Introduction
The Asian Crisis of 1997 and 1998 affected many of the East Asian and South East Asian countries
surprised many. This was due to the fact that in the early and mid 1990s these same countries were
lauded as model economies with high Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Yet within a space of a few
months in mid 1997, the currency crisis become a financial/economic crisis as many of these countries
currencies were greatly devalued resulting in the contraction of their economies. However, the
severity of the Asian Crisis was not uniformly felt.

Due to this, their states were strong for their struggle to industrialize but weak because of the web of

The end of the cold war meant that America no longer had to rely so much on Japan and Korea to safe
guard against the advancement of communist in South East Asia. Therefore from early 1990s,
America has pushed for these countries to adopt multilateral economies (i.e. be more open to accept
American goods and investment). However, Japan and Korea were resistant to this new form of
economic policy.
Though no actual action by American was provided in the paper that resulted in the Asian Crisis, the
author does state that the crisis allowed America, through the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to
implement their economic model to Korea. This was done to maintain American s hegemony in Asia,
which before the crisis may have shifted to Japan. That is one of the reasons provided by the author on
why America was firm in its refusal to allow the Asian Fund proposed by Japan to materialise.

Louis Armstrong
Louis Armstrong was the greatest of all Jazz musicians. Armstrong defined what it was to play Jazz.
His amazing technical abilities, the joy and spontaneity, and amazingly quick, inventive musical mind
still dominate Jazz to this day. Only Charlie Parker comes close to having as much influence on the
history of Jazz as Louis Armstrong did. Like almost all early Jazz musicians, Louis was from New
Orleans. He was from a very poor family and was sent to reform school when he was twelve after
firing a gun in the air on New Year s Eve. At the school he learned to play cornet. After being released

  • 2. Propaganda And Doublespeak And The World Of Doublespeak The language of propaganda and doublespeak have an extended history, going back to the earliest civilizations. Propaganda and doublespeak are the use of verbal exchange to have an impact on the emotions, attitudes, and opinions of human beings. To try to get them to approve on a particular political, religious, or economic point of view, or even to start a war. It is suspicious manipulation of the opinions of the societies to a large extent by their government. In the effort to manage the nation s thought process, the government has used the language of mass propaganda and doublespeak for selling war. In the essay, Propaganda: How Not to be Bamboozled, and The World of Doublespeak, both writers discuss and explains the unusual types of propaganda and the misleading types of doublespeak. First, Donna Woolfolk Cross labels the structures and the detailed methods propaganda presented in our day by day life, and how to avoid being tricked. Also Cross thinks that it is important for people in a democratic society to be well knowledgeable about propaganda due to how people get manipulated into simply doing something except thinking. Additionally, Cross explains for us as readers the different sorts of propaganda and how we view the topics in a positive way. She highlights in her essay that propaganda is not continually negative; however, it also used in significant ways. Cross presents in her essay that there are thirteen different types of ... • 3. Summary Of Remembering My Childhood On The Continent Of... Patrice Tseh E1o1 Professor Jones 10/11/2017 Journal Entry #2 David Sedaris s Remembering My Childhood on the Continent of Africa Journal Response In the comparison and contrast essay, Remembering My Childhood on the Continent of Africa, by David Sedaris, the author talks about the jealousy he feels towards the excitement present in his friend Hugh s life. David Sedaris explores the contrast in the dullness of his own childhood with the adventurous lifestyle of his friend s childhood. Using descriptions, personal experiences of his friend and himself, and language, Sedaris explains why he takes satisfaction in passing his friend s stories as though they were his own since the stories were more interesting. The field trips, environment, and activities all contribute in the development of the difference in lifestyle between them. The subject of Sedaris s comparison and contrast in this essay is to show the aspects of both Hugh and the author s childhood, that would cause the author to feel proud using his friend s stories as his own. For instance, the author states that, When I was young I went to the theater at the nearby shopping center and watched a movie about a talking Volkswagen... Like me, Hugh saw the movie by himself on a weekend afternoon. Unlike me, he left the theater two hours later, to find a dead man hanging from a telephone pole at the far end of the unpaved parking lot (Sedaris 182). The quote above indicates that the author is being naĂŻve and childish. No boy or child who is as young as he was should feel pleasure in seeing a dead person. The thesis of this essay is as follows, Certain events are parallel, but compared with Hugh s, my childhood was unspeakably dull. When I was seven years old, my family moved to North Carolina. We had a collie and a house cat. When he was seven years old, Hugh s family moved to the Congo. They had a monkey and two horses named Charlie and Satan. I threw stones at stop signs. Hugh threw stones at crocodiles (Sedaris 181). This clearly informs the reader that the author is envious of Hugh s childhood since his was extremely boring. Additionally, the thesis is stated and not implied because the author openly asserts that, When I m told such stories, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Descriptive Essay Monologue Chicken, yeah I ll show you chicken. In case you haven t been stalking me as of fifteen seconds ago, I was just dared to go hit on this girl because I may or may not have been checking her out. I mean what do you want me to do she is pretty attractive. Taking my stroll over to the beautiful girl s table, I definitely began to have second thoughts. Moving closer and closer I could see every bit of detail in her hair, her skin, everything. She had a face of an angel. I was definitely having second thoughts I should probably retreat or just run far far far away. As I looked back the guys were watching like a hawk watches its prey. Well you probably heard Scottie s point of view on her well the book is pretty popular. Anyway this ain t about him this is about me. Wow that sounds very self centered of me to say but this is my story. Either way I just walked over to her and well I did feel something weird, almost as if my legs were vibrating and well bad things happened. I almost threw up, however I resisted the urge to regurgitate all over the floor and become the laugh of the year. Well luckily no body fluid came out of me. Well, this was a situation I did not enjoy being in I made a noise that sounded something like hello, did I fool you no, look I am not Scottie I can talk to girls. I simply said, Hi, do you know me? I think we have chemistry together? You get the word play there, no, well she did. She actually laughed at my terrible joke. I had finally won an Olympic gold ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It took 132 workers 2 years, 2 months and 5 days to complete the project. Despite the riskiest design to construct, due to all the safety measures being taken, only 1 man died, during the installation of the elevators, which travel at a 60 degree curve. The men used 18,038 pieces of wrought iron and 2.5 million rivets to build the 1023 ft. height monument which weighs 10,100 tons . The base pillars of the tower are oriented with the four points of the compass. It was the tallest building in the world for over 40 years, before the Chrysler Building in New York City was built in 1930. The original design housed an apartment for Gustave Eiffel at the very top of the tower. McCollum writes, The sky high hideaway had plush rugs, oil paintings, and even a grand piano (22). The paint on the tower gets changed every 7 years and weighs as much as 10 elephants. During different weather conditions, the tower can sway 5 inches and during the intense heat, can grow up to 7 inches in height. It takes exactly 1665 steps to climb to the top of the tower. The lifts operating the tower travel over two and a half times the circumference of Earth per year. The internal struggles due to the contradicting desire for relationships and the desire for solidarity, and the uncertainty that underpins the search for spiritual fulfilment are encapsulated in T.S. Eliot displays these stresses of Modern Urban life through the dramatic monologue of the protagonist Prufrock in his poem The Love Song of J.Alfred Prufrock which the speaker embarks on a journey to try to overcome the powerful sense of meaninglessness in the world that has lost its religious faith. The poem opens up with Prufrock constantly repeating the phrase Let us go which is an invitation for the reader to travel with Prufrock as tries to find meaning in life. This is due to the epigraph presented earlier whereby it alludes to Count Guido who is trapped in Hell and must endure the same limited experience for eternity. This intertextual reference acts as a mirror to Prufrock s psyche, asserting his dour thoughts on how his life is stalling and meaningless. Prufrock states how he has measured out my life in coffee spoons which captures the unfulfilling and boring nature of Prufrock s life. This metaphorical comparison crystallises how his life is carefully calculated and lived in small and measured amounts, affirming the banality of his life. Thus Prufrock embarks on an active search for meaning as evidenced by the line Let us go .... Despite the modern society suggesting there is no answer to the overwhelming question he can t help but pursue it because it is purely instinctive. In addition to these professional coping options, other coping mechanisms include expressing yourself and sharing your fears and experience, creating a mission for your life to create meaning, and distracting yourself which can provide a little temporary relief with something new and engaging to occupy your thoughts. (p.189) I believe based on this information, it may be more helpful for a firefighter and other emergency responders to cope via the latter mentioned mechanisms because they focus more on the individual s fears, experiences, and emotions. My concern about the focus is that so often it seems that the Christians Mr. Grudem is trying to influence try to tie their political opinions, policy positions, and those whom they support with their religion. • 29. Electronic Conveyancing ( E Conveyancing ) Electronic conveyancing (e conveyancing) was born as an inspired idea of the Land Registry back in the early 2000s. Prior to that, with the ever increasing presence of technology in our day to day lives, as well as business dealings, paper based Land Registry details had begun to be computerised. Almost all registered titles of land had been entered on to a computer based system by roughly the year 1995. There was a basic, rather rudimentary, usage of computer systems. A system of direct access to a computerised register was introduced in 1995, called the Land Registry Direct. (One of the tasks that were thus enabled, for example, was being able to notify the registry of a discharge of a registered charge, or applications to a register.) ... The report produced a detailed outline of the anticipated model of e conveyancing. The problems of paper based conveyancing as several. England s traditional conveyance system stands upon multitudes of paper documents and a heavy reliance on the standard mail. Both parties to the the transaction, buyers and sellers, are subject to many possible problems within the conveyancing process. A primary concern is the registration gap. This is the time between the transfer of drawn up and agreed up contracts and the actual registration of the property unto the new owner. Particular issues with the registration gap is the fact that in any transaction there are too many parties involved, length of transaction is too long and the transparency/opaqueness is questionable/questioned. One of the original few problems identified within the previous system by the LR was the issue of overriding interests. These are third party interests that continue to bind the estate and are enforceable against the purchaser, while not appearing on the register at all. This makes it impossible to fully rely on the register, as it produces an actual risk to the purchaser. The inevitable solution is to still do the investigation (enquiries and inspection). The LR ... • 31. Annotated Bibliography On Data Encryption Standard 1.1 Data Encryption Standard Data Encryption standard was one of the predetermined symmetric algorithms for the encryption of data. DES was developed in early 1970s at IBM and based on an earlier design by Horst Feistel. DES is one of the most and significant modern symmetric encryption algorithm, for many years DES was known as secret code making . The algorithm was developed in early 1970s, but due to some controversies the algorithm was published in January 1977 as an algorithm to be used for the unclassified data. The data encryption standard, as specified is a block cipher operating on the 64 bit data block. DES also uses a key to customize the transformation, so that decryption can be only be performed by those who know the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Key mixing: the expansion word is XORed with a round key constructed by selecting 48 bits from the 56 bits secret key, a different selection is used in each round. Substitution: the 48 bits result is split into eight bit words which are substituted in eight parallel 6 * 4 bit S boxes. All the S boxes, are different but have the same special structure. Permutation (P): the resulting 32 bits are reordered according to a fixed permutation before being sent as the output. 1.3 ALGORITHM [1] In the first step, the 64 bit plain text block is handed over to initial permutation (IP) function. [2] The initial permutation is performed on the input plain text. [3] The initial permutation results in two halves of permuted block: LBlock and RBlock. [4] Each of LBlock and RBlock goes through 16 rounds of the encryption process, each with its own key. [11] The RBlock ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analyzing Financial Statements Of Mandrake Motorcycle Analyzing Financial Statements of Mandrake Motorcycle Scott Giles, Dayne Dickson, Dale Bierman Bellevue University Analyzing Financial Statements of Mandrake Motorcycle When companies have an interest in partnering, it is prudent for each to conduct a financial analysis ensuring that both parties are making a sound investment. The purpose of the financial analysis is to scrutinize the profitability and financial stability of a company, while addressing any concerns (Jiambalvo, 2014, p. 535). In the case study, Bob Sherman founder of Mandrake Motorcycle manufacturing made a proposal to Marty Monk Fisher, a motorcycle dealer. Fisher proposed that Monk be the sole dealer for his motorcycles in the state of Ohio. Before investing, Mr. Sherman must do a financial analysis on Mandrake Motorcycle to insure that there are no financial concerns. This paper will analyze Mandrakes Motorcycle s balance sheet, and income statement calculating the ratios for 2015 and 2014. The calculated ratios will include, return on assets, gross margin percentage, receivables turnover, days sales in receivables, inventory turnover, days sales in inventory, debt to equity, and times interest earned. In addition, the paper will highlight areas of concern, and discuss what is the best decision for Monk based on the analysis. Finally, the paper will ascertain whether the financial analysis was indicative of future financial issues for Mandrake Motorcycles. Calculating the Ratios Return on ... Introduction The Asian Crisis of 1997 and 1998 affected many of the East Asian and South East Asian countries surprised many. This was due to the fact that in the early and mid 1990s these same countries were lauded as model economies with high Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Yet within a space of a few months in mid 1997, the currency crisis become a financial/economic crisis as many of these countries currencies were greatly devalued resulting in the contraction of their economies. However, the severity of the Asian Crisis was not uniformly felt. Many books, research papers and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The end of the cold war meant that America no longer had to rely so much on Japan and Korea to safe guard against the advancement of communist in South East Asia. Therefore from early 1990s, America has pushed for these countries to adopt multilateral economies (i.e. be more open to accept American goods and investment). However, Japan and Korea were resistant to this new form of economic policy. Though no actual action by American was provided in the paper that resulted in the Asian Crisis, the author does state that the crisis allowed America, through the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to implement their economic model to Korea. This was done to maintain American s hegemony in Asia, which before the crisis may have shifted to Japan. That is one of the reasons provided by the author on why America was firm in its refusal to allow the Asian Fund proposed by Japan to materialise. C. Jeffrey A Winters. 1999. His amazing technical abilities, the joy and spontaneity, and amazingly quick, inventive musical mind still dominate Jazz to this day. Only Charlie Parker comes close to having as much influence on the history of Jazz as Louis Armstrong did. Like almost all early Jazz musicians, Louis was from New Orleans. He was from a very poor family and was sent to reform school when he was twelve after firing a gun in the air on New Year s Eve. At the school he learned to play cornet.
