Malala Women s Rights
Malala is probably the most famous girl activist who is in favor of girls education, but she s not the
only one that s changing the way the world views girls education and women s rights. These other
activists come from all over the world and they are passionate about making the way women and girls
are treated, better. They have come over the barriers that are between them, such as religion and
culture and haven t stopped until they reached their goals. Women s rights and girls education are
issues that affect many women and girls around the world. We need to take an initiative and help these
people who are in need of a voice against these injustices. Here are a few.

different communities by getting education all around the globe. In the project there will be 7,000

projects that help girls go to school and help them stay in school as stated in the article 15 women
leading the way for girls education by GPE Secretariat on the website for Global Partnership for
Education. Girls are our change makers our future doctors, teachers, and entrepreneurs Michelle
Obama states at the launch of this program in the White House. They re our dreamers and our
visionaries who could change the world as we know it . In a post on Twitter, she says I want to use my
time and platform as First Lady and beyond to make a real impact , which is attached to a picture of
the board that has her message 62 million girls around the world are not in school. The Let Girls Learn
initiative will help break down barriers to girls education so they can build healthier families, stronger
communities, and a brighter future . The way Michelle Obama supports this cause truly is inspiring

The Pros And Cons Of Postal Service Reform
Throughout the past eleven years, the Post Office is accumulating massive amounts of debt and is
failing to turn a yearly profit. While is it being addressed by certain members of Congress one should
desire to diagnose exactly why USPS s budget has a prolific shortcoming. Many people suggest that it
is simply the changing times of the market, with more and more people using electronic email and
fewer people sending letters in the mail. However, Postal Unions point out that the major problem is
the burden of pre funding retirement healthcare plans, also pointing out that is the only government
agency is required to do so. In order to fix this growing problem, people have suggested numerous
options from changing the mail delivery system to privatizing ... Show more content on

756), is the slow removal of door to door delivery and a steady increase in the amount of curbside
delivery and cluster boxes. Based on certain figures, door to door delivery is by far the most expensive
at about $353 per stop($278 in rural areas), while curbside and cluster methods cost roughly $224 and
$160, respectively ($176 and $126 in rural areas). If door to door delivery were eliminated altogether,
about $4 billion would be saved. The idea behind this would save the amount of time needed to
deliver mail, instead of walking to each individual household, a postal worker could deliver all of the
mail for an entire street at one stop, and then simply move on to the next one. This overall would
reduce the amount of time and people needed to deliver the same amount of mail. However, this
would not necessarily work for all methods of mail, for example, large packages, so some door
deliverly would be needed. Overall, it would be relatively easy to pass as long as Congress would
decide to put it to a vote, but the Postal Reform Act of 2016, a bill identical to this one, did not even
get put up for a vote in either the House or the

How Was The X-Ray Diffraction Spectrum Of All Sulfurized...
3.1 Structural properties
Figure 1 showed the X ray diffraction spectrum of all sulfurized Co doped FeS2 films. The
comparison with JCPDS 01 071 1680 indicated a pure cubic FeS2 structure for all these samples. The
ratio between peaks from each sample demonstrated a poly crystal structure. Also, no clear
preferential growth direction could be observed for each sample. The peaks of all Co doped films were
very close to the pure iron pyrite peaks. No clear peak shift could be observed. This indicated that
shallow cobalt doping had little impact on the crystal structure of FeS2.
Scherrer equation, as shown in equation 1, was applied to estimate the average crystallite size of these
sulfurized films. . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As more electrons were introduced, the net carrier concentration started to decrease until the electrons
became the majority carriers. This process may explain the change of conduction type and carrier
concentrations. The carrier mobility, however, decreased gradually from 6.52 cm2/V*s to 4.30
cm2/V*s as cobalt doping increased from 2 at% to 6 at%. This phenomenon could be explained as the
decreased mean free path of charged carriers because of the larger size of the incorporated cobalt ions
than the original iron ions. After switching to n type, the increasing carrier concentration may also
contributed to the reducing of carrier mobility. As a consequence, cobalt doping served well as an n
type dopant after 3 at% doping level.
3.2.2 Temperature Dependence
Figure 2 showed the relationship between the reciprocal of resistivity to the reciprocal of temperature,
graphed as a logarithmic plot. The resistance change of the Co doped FeS2 samples with Al electrodes
were collected from room temperature (25oC) to 140oC. From Fig.2, the resistance of all samples
decreased while heating. This showed a general semiconductor behavior of these Co doped FeS2
films. The data in Fig.2 showed a linear dependence for each sample. The fitting lines could be
described by Arrhenius equation as shown in equation 2: . (2)

The Edict Of Hamurabi And The Code Of The Salian Franks
Civilization has continued to exist and grow because of the many institutions that exist within most
individual cultures, such as art, religion, ethics, etc. I believe that the most important factor in the
development of civilization and the biggest aid to the success of past societies is law. Law exists in
every society that we have seen throughout this semester, whether it be from the earliest examples of
written law like in The Code of Hamurabi, or in the most recent example we have seen in The Code of
the Salian Franks. I will seek to analyze the examples of important laws that we have seen throughout
developing society, and how they were integral to the growth of the civilization they were created in,
including: The Code of Hamurabi, The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Enacted in 313 A. D. by Constantine Augustus, this law was made and established to prevent the
persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire, and was a huge step forwards for society for a number
of reasons. Firstly, the law was a very early example of tolerance and acceptance of religious
practices. This law was put in place to bring peace, but more so than just peace it helped set a
precedent for future civil issues and how they could be solved. among other things which we saw
would be for the good of many, those regulations pertaining to the reverence of the Divinity ought
certainly to be made first, so that we might grant to the Christians and others full authority to observe
that religion which each preferred; whence any Divinity whatsoever in the seat of the heavens may be
propitious and kindly disposed to us and all who are placed under our rule (Edict of Milan, Page 1)
The second, and arguably most important advancement this law promoted was a turning point for the
development of civilization through the vast growth of Christians following the edict. While the
Roman Empire had once been a Polytheistic worshipping society, once Christians were granted the
right to free worship, we see a very large shift in the number of Christians compared to other forms of
religion within the empire. However, not only were Christians the majority in Rome, they quickly
became the dominating religion in the world, and because they became the biggest and most
influential religion in the world, their choices in early history are ingrained in our own society today.
We typically measure time in history by suffixing years with either BC or AD, which stand for Before
Christ and anno domini ; The latter being Latin for The year of our Lord . So through this law, we see
civilization not only getting its first taste of civil liberties, but also inadvertently affecting the way in
which we

Productivity Improvement in Srew Type Biomass Briquetting
In spite of very good potential for using biomass as a renewable source of energy the practice is in
very early stage and limping. There are many factors which contribute their parts in making the
process unsuccessful. The major ones are seasonality of the raw materials, shortfalls in logistics,
absence of proved manufacturing systems, lack of skilled workers and very many technical factors.
Considering technical factors for the screw type of briquetting the biomass, the life of the screw and
the mould contribute the highest percentage of hindrance to the production process and hence the
highest chance of improving the total productivity. A successful process of producing quality
briquettes is very essential in using ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To produce low ash, high Btu briquettes form coal fine and timber wastes research works were done in
the University of Kentucky. More than 70 million tons of coal fines are dumped at the abandoned site
near the Appalachian coal fields. Combining the coal fine with the wastes from nearby timber
industries briquettes were made and tested for various parameters. It was concluded that the briquettes
were of premium quality and that offers near term practical solutions to generate green energy
utilizing existing equipments [1]. There are works going on in designing energy management methods
in biomass applications, as at least 15% of energy is wasted in drying the biomass before using in
boilers or any other heating system. The typical moisture content of biomass varies from 50% to 63%
by weight in most of the situations including the seasons and types of biomass. A low initial moisture
level could utilize most of the energy released during combustion and it will make larger boiler
unnecessary. Utilizing exhaust gases to preheat the input biomass to a lower level of moisture can
conserve the energy significantly [3]. Though briquetting of biomass as a green fuel is a necessary
solution, the primary importance of any biomass should be for feeding animals. In Mexico the
excesses residues of corn, sugarcane, sorghum and wheat are briquetted and sent to livestock growing
regions to handle dry seasons. There were other advantages like homogeneous

Rio Grande And South Padre Island Case Study
I am pessimistic about the human race because it is too ingenious for its own good. Our approach to
nature is to beat it into submission. We would stand a better chance of survival if we accommodated
ourselves to this planet and viewed it appreciatively, instead of skeptically and dictatorially. ― E.B.
White. In accommodation to the environment, the liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants that are being
planned to be built in between Brownsville and Port Isabel should be cancelled to keep the Rio Grande
and South Padre Island a highly admired tourist site. Liquefied natural gas is natural gas in a liquid
form, produced by cooling the gas to 259°F through a process called liquefaction. Even though there
is a low percentage (5% 15%) LNG will catch a fire, the LNG s vapor can explode when hemmed in a

Additionally, the beautiful tourist South Padre Island is at bay, and the tourists who come by to take in

how one of the interventions could be applied.
Paul s Case The case study includes the following information. Paul is a 45 year old man from
southern West Virginia who has been recently been laid off from his lifelong job in the coal mines. At
18, he graduated from high school and immediately went to work in the coal mines. Because of mine
shutdowns or slowed production, he has experienced multiple layoffs. However, he always was able to
draw unemployment, which never lasted more than six months, at which time he was always hired
back at a nearby mine. Because of multiple mine shutdowns in the area, this recent layoff has lasted
for almost a year. Due to his wife s urging, Paul has enrolled in a local community college, but has no
idea what to major in, let alone what classes to take. He has come to the career center at the
community college hoping to get some direction in his career search. Savickas Career Construction

Comparative Religion Essay
Comparative religion is a relatively new discipline in theology. Comparative religion is the branch of
theology that is concerned with the systematic comparison of the different religions of the world. Two
religions that have been at the forefront of media attention in recent years are Islam and Christianity.
These two religions have been constantly criticized by individuals who may have some knowledge of
these religions, but have not dove into the depths to fully understand the origins and beliefs of these
two very different religions. Before one can make claims and judgments on religions one must know
the origin and belief systems of the religion.

main focus is a garden that contains plants and flowers. The garden is hidden from the most people
and only a few have ever seen it. It was made by a famous doctor, Signor Giacomo Rappaccini. The
only thing that outshines the plants and flowers is , Beatrice Rappaccini, the doctors daughter. The
doctor distils the plants and garden into medicines. There is one large shrub with purple blossoms set

breathing in poisons from the garden and that she is in a lot of danger from the plants. However, her
life ends in a different way.
Giovanni finds a small living quarters with a single window. This window overlooks the garden. He
sees the pretty young, Beatrice. Lisabetta, an old woman who showed him a room, when he first
moved to the city, showed him a secret entry way to the garden There he meets Beatrice. She denies
knowing her father s science, and ask him to believe only what she sees with his eyes.
A friend of Giovanni Father, Professor Baglioni, met with him and warms him of Signor Rappaccini.

when it came to civil rights movement. During the time of the Civil Rights schools were segregated
and Ruby Bridges were one of the children that helped the movement.
Ruby Bridges was born on September 8, 1954. New Orleans was a place for opportunities Ruby and
her family lives changed for the better they thought as parents. In New Orleans Ruby went to a
segregated elementary school. In 1954 a lot was happening when it came to deciding on whether
schools should stay segregated or if they should be desegregated. Brown vs. Topeka Board of
Education pushed the issue to the edge and decided to segregate al schools.

Explain Why Some Presenters Avoid Eye Contact
Why do some presenters avoid eye contact? How does that make you feel as an audience member?
Some presenters avoid making eye contact during their presentation because of the following reasons:
Presenters who don t know their content avoid eye contact because they lack confidence that they can
deliver their speech successfully. They feel nervous for not being fully prepared and any negative
reaction from the audience will make them feel more uneasy.
Presenters who memorize their presentation avoid eye contact because they don t like to see any
negative expressions from the audience that might make them lose focus and forget what they are
about to say. Staring at the ceiling or wall helps them to concentrate and remembers what they need

Covetousness Of God In Amadeus
Moreover, Mozart s music in Amadeus is attributed to survey intricate relationship between God and
humans. Through Salieri s powerful jealousy of Mozart s music and his intense blame on God, the
movie proposes the issue of human s incomplete belief in God and the question about the existence of
God. Salieri, in the beginning part of the movie, is presented as the profoundly religious human. He
believes that God grants his faithful wish to be a successful composer so he tries to devote to his God
earnestly. However, after the appearance of Mozart in his life, Salieri starts to distrust God and commit
blasphemy. Throughout the movie, Salieri s strong covetousness of Mozart s talent and his blame on

with ears for listening to the voice of god truly. (207) However, Salieri in Amadeus does not realize
his own talent and only abominates Mozart and God. Salieri s emotion of detestation for God resulted
from the severe jealousy of Mozart leads him to revenge for God and to break officially his tie with
God in the end. The revenge for God and his incarnation Mozart begins in the scene that Constanze
the wife of Mozart visits Salieri again in a late night to request his recommendation for her husband to

Biological Science In Mary Roach s Packing For Mars
The novel Packing for Mars is a novel written by Mary Roach. She is an author known for her many

who wishes to someday be sent off of planet earth. Packing for Mars was published in 2010, with the
intent of having numerous young adults read the novel, along with any adult space enthusiasts who
crave to learn about space, and the life that people have to endure as astronauts. In this novel, it is
stated that the genre is biological science. In my own opinion, this book is more of an informational
text or a documentary rather than biological science. However, the genre of this novel could easily be
perceived as a biography because every test and observational practice was discussed in such
excruciatingly precise detail that the author must have been present to have had the ability to describe

Philip Zimbardo s Father Of The Stanford Prison Experiment
Philip Zimbardo: Father of the Stanford Prison Experiment
Philip Zimbardo is known for his famous prison experiment that revealed some important facts about
human nature. This type of experiment had never been done before. The Stanford prison experiment
was designed to find out whether the brutality reported among guards in American prisons was due to
the sadistic personalities of the guards or had more to do with the prison environment (McLeod 1).
Zimbardo was influenced by the Milgram experiment, which was a study of the power of the situation.

students who took part in the experiment were randomly assigned their role as guards or prisoners.
Zimbardo choose his participants to be normal, intelligent, bright, and college students in order to

individuals in the current society. Zimbardo also spent a great deal of time with the details such as the
appearance of the prison and the cells, the uniforms of the guards, and the entry process for the
prisoners on the first day. All of these components were planned by Zimbardo to create the most
realistic prison environment. He consulted the guards in such a way: You can create in the prisoner s

Comparing The Grateful Dead And The Good Earth
In October 1973, The Grateful Dead, an American rock band, released Wake of the Flood, featuring
the song Let It Grow , written by John Barlow and Bob Weir. Nearly forty years earlier, Pearl S. Buck,
an American feminist writer who was raised mostly in China, published her best selling historical
fiction novel, The Good Earth, which she won the Pulitzer Prize for in 1932 and the Nobel Prize for
Literature in 1938. Page 29 of Buck s novel, in describing a scene between the protagonist and his
wife, is an effective exemplification of the major theme of the novel. Both literary works examine the
inherent excellence of hard work and labor and the elegance of the cyclic nature of the natural world.

Buck effectively achieves her purpose through her masterful use of diction and syntax. The couple
working on the land is described as a perfect sympathy of movement , implying that there is a faultless
harmony and order to their work. Then she details how everything comes from and returns to the earth
and how everything undergoes a cycle of life and death. Buck makes sure to repeat the phrase over in
order to emphasize the cyclicity of this process. She utilizes commas to separate parts of the sentence,
lengthening the sentence, developing a calm attitude at least on part of the writer. Following that, the
word so is used to display the inherent inevitability of this process. The short, terse sentence Each had
his turn at the earth contrasts with the lengthy descriptive sentences previous to it to display what the
author feels is the essence of the cycle. Similarly, in Let it Grow , the songwriters express the cyclicity
of nature when he describes how the plow cuts round and round ; how the the ground is becoming to
the next season ; and how the black dirt [is] live again . The cycle is briefly described when the
songwriter says Seasons round, creatures great and small, up and down as we rise and fall . In essence,
both excerpts explore the natural cycle of life. However, the excerpt from the novel discusses
cooperation. A subtle metaphor is created where O lan represents the Earth and the production of a
child is likened to the cultivation of the land. Thus, the necessity of the emphasis on Wang Lung and O
lan working together. Additionally, another distinction is evident when analyzing the two prosaic
works: Let It Grow utilizes personification when referring to the natural world, which is notably
absent in the excerpt from The Good

Land Rights In Indigenous Australian History
Arguably one of the most notable cases conducted in the Australian High Court, Mabo and others v
Queensland (No2) (1992), or shortened to Mabo 2, holds prominent significance in Indigenous
Australian history as being the first legal recognition of land rights for Indigenous Peoples under the
common law system. Despite the court ruling in favour of Mabo, and additional legislation protecting
First Peoples native title claims, little buffer presently exists to prevent land claims from being
extinguished. The recent McGlade v Native Title Registrar (2017) decision stands to counter

Positive Youth Development Programs
A positive youth development program is designed to help young adults overcome their challenges
and live up to their full potential. Youth development is emphasized through different activities which
helps the youth emotionally, physically, and socially. Youth development programs are basically used
to help them regain confidence, and how to bounce back to a normal life. My program name is
Helping Hands, which will be based on abused youth in African American public schools. The motto
for my program is Not all hands are helpful, but our hands are guaranteed life changers. When
organizing a program knowing the population, how it works, and its essentials are mandatory for a
successful youth development program. The name of my youth development program is called
Helping Hands. This program will focus on abused youth in African American public schools, grades
9th 12th. This program will focus on these grades because a lot of the youth feel like they can deal

The Value Of Chinese Language
The value of Chinese Language The knowledge of Chinese language opens many new perspectives for
the people who have good command of this language. First of all, Chinese language opens the way to
different important fields. These include: Chinese politics, economy, history or archaeology. The
knowledge of Chinese language can help to study the unique culture of the ancient civilization. At the
heart of Chinese civilization is its rich heritage of novels, short stories, poetry, drama, and other pieces
of literature.
One should also not to forget about the fact that language itself reflects the values, the struggles, the

The dominant language in the country is Mandarin language. This language is spoken by the most
influential Chinese communities of Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, the Philippines,
and Mongolia. At present, China has achieved the major dominance in the world.
Chinese Language
In this part of my paper I want to draw your attention to some surprising facts that pertain to the
Chinese language. The research shows that the Chinese language has a relatively uncomplicated
grammar. Contrary to French, German or English, Chinese has no verb conjugation (in other words
tense inflection). Also, this language has no noun declension, including gender and number
distinctions. While learning Chinese you do not have to memorize different verb forms of
tell/told/told. Under such circumstances, all you have to remember is just one word: kan. Also, while
learning English a person has to distinguish between hat and hats . In Chinese we have a totally
different situation. The only form that is present in this language is the word mao.
The basic word order of Chinese is subject is the verb object. The object exists just in the same form
as it exists in English. The research proves that there is quite a number of the key terms. These are

Power And Control In The Visit By Frank Durrenmatt
Well known writer, Friedrich Durrenmatt, in his drama, The Visit, conveys the idea in which Claire
Zachanassian embodies aggregate power and control, and she uses those features to dehumanize the
people of Gullen throughout the play. Durrenmatt s purpose is to illustrate that money can buy power,
and power is what leads to all disorder and chaos. He adopts a striking and staggering tone in order to
express how humanity is so easily purchased by mere paper. Claire Zachanassian symbolizes power
by frightening and intimidating the people of Gullen into doing her bidding and dirty work. Claire
holds herself throughout the play as though she is better than any, and everyone around her, and that is
continuously publicized throughout the entirety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Claire, and Koby and Loby are talking to the butler about what happened to the two men, they
stated, The lady tracked us down, the lady tracked us down. She gave us to Toby and Roby. She gave

doing this, Claire shows that her money can justly buy anything, literally. Because The Pair lied to the
court many years before about falsely sleeping with her, she decided to make them pay. When she
figured out she was pregnant, she was confused and helpless. Alfred Ill, supposedly, put Koby and
Loby up to a bet offering the two money if they lied and said that they slept with Claire. When this
statement from the two men was put into question, everyone in town turned against Claire and
shunned her. She was forced to leave town and hide from the shame everyone thought she should have

Truman Capote s Cold Blood
In Cold Blood by Truman Capote is considered one of the first novels to establish a new genre. Capote
combined fictional elements to a real crime story that set the groundwork for future true crime novels.
The foundation of the story is the tragic murder of the Clutter family, Herbert, Bonnie, Nancy, and
Kenyon, and the effect it had on small town of Holcomb, Kansas. In Cold Blood is a journalistic novel
that has the credibility of fact, the immediacy of film, the depth and freedom of prose, and the
precision of poetry, . Throughout the novel, Capote switches between the perspective of the killers, the
victims, and those who live in the town. This creates a unique and at times truly staggering parallel
that ultimately forces the reader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This contrast can first be seen in the descriptions of Herbert Clutter, the father of the Clutter family,
who was cut a man s man figure. His shoulders were broad... his square jawed confident face retained
a healthy hued youthfulness, (Capote 6) and Dick Hickock, his face, which seemed composed of
mismatching parts... the lips were slightly aslant, the nose askew, and his eyes not only situated at
uneven levels but of uneven size, (Capote 31) and Perry Smith, his chunky, dwarfish legs, broken in
five places and pitifully scarred, still pained him so severely, (Capote 31). Mr. Clutter, in perfect health
condition, was considered to be traditionally handsome . Whereas Dick and Perry both are scarred by
prior vehicle crashes with some part of their body maimed and permanently changed for the worse as
a result. As well as littered with tattoos across their face and arms, they are, in a sense, the exact
opposite of Mr. Clutter. Due to Mr. Clutter being described with positive traits the reader is more
likely to trust, and therefore sympathize with him. In direct opposition to how Dick and Perry were
described with mostly negative traits. The reader is less likely to trust them, but instead pin them as

Creationist Argument Against Creationism
As seen from the infographic, Creationism meets absolutely none of the requirements to be considered
a science; for instance, Creationism has no physical evidence, is not repeatable, and has no backing
from any other branch of science. In this specific instance, evolution is the comparative to
Creationism. Unlike its counterpart, evolution can be repeatedly tested because it is still happening to
this day while the beliefs of Creationism seem to have occurred only once. Additionally, if
Creationism was to have any evidence, it would probably be the Bible, but not even that has scientific
backing. Along with this Creationism cannot be backed by any branch of science, due to the fact that it
does not follow the scientific method. Due to this, Creationism cannot be considered a science and in
turn cannot be taught in place of a science curriculum. Despite this, Creationists still press for some
form of their religious beliefs to be taught in the public school system. Fundamentalist Creationists do
not stop at just asking for Creationism to be taught in public schools, as mentioned before, sometimes
they turn to extremes. First, it is beneficial to understand the basis on which Creationists attempt to
discredit science. One of the most common misconceptions from Creationism is that it is a suitable
scientific alternative to the evolutionary theory. This is simply not true, as evident from the
aforementioned infographic. Using this as the foundation for their argument,

My Life After A Volunteer At The Emergency Department
I was never fully able to wrap my mind around how one discovers their vocation in life. It was not
until last summer that I was able to uncover my passion. My novel discovery would take place during,
one of the most scorching months of August I ever recall experiencing. It would be during this
amplifying heat that I would conclude to go to Mercy Hospital and become a volunteer at the
Emergency Department. This day would not only come to symbolize an inflection point in my life due
to the fact that I had recently emigrated from Spain, but a realization of my calling in life.
As if it was yesterday, I remember I had to wake up punctually that day. My father, a draconian man in
his fifties, would have to drop off my mother first at her office, and afterward, come back home to
pick me up. Weak sunbeams shone through the blinds of my dusty window, taking with them a
sweltering tangibility that would congest my silent room. I suddenly got up, breathing heavy as if the
flaming spears of the sun had pierced my lungs.
Soon after I dashed to take an encouraging shower. Promptly, I put on a red polished polo with
hospital miniature logo. I added blue cargo pants, which I thought would fit better for the unknown
tasks waiting for me at the hospital. Since the first moment I exited the bed, my mind had generated
persistent feelings of inquietude. With the smell of brand new clothes still hovering in the air, I
believed myself to possess a health professional when my juvenile figure

The Effects Of Russian Culture On Military Operations
The Effects of Russian Culture on Military Operations in That Region
Introduction
Understanding a country s culture as it pertains to military operations is highly important in the
modern era. Dictionary.com defines culture as the behaviors and beliefs characteristic of a particular
social, ethnic, or age group . There are many examples throughout history that show the negative
consequences of ignoring or misunderstanding the cultures of other countries. The most recent
example is our long sustained operations in the Middle East. We have operated in the Middle East for
the better part of two and a half decades. Through our own successes and failures, it is obvious how
important cultural awareness can be. The mistakes we have made have created more animosity
towards our military and our country in general. Over the last decade, our government has worked
continuously to understand and teach those lessons to our service members. Through those efforts, we
have been able to win over many of the hearts and minds that we lost during the early part of the 1990
s and 2000 s. Continuing these practices in the future, with countries such as Russia, will allow us to
overcome many of the mistakes and problems we have encountered in the past.

The Azusa Street Revival By William J. Seymour

HISTORY OF CHRISTIANITY II:
THE REFORMATION AND MODERN CHURCH
HIST 0562
INSTRUCTOR: REV. DR. RON KYDD 13th April 2015
Mail Box # 344
The Azusa Street Revival was a historical Pentecostal revival meeting that occurred in Los Angeles,
California and is the beginning of the Pentecostal movement. It was run by William J. Seymour, an
African American minister. It started with a meeting on April 9, 1906, and proceeded until about 1915.
The revival was portrayed by euphoric spiritual encounters joined by miracles, speaking in tongues,
inter racial socialising during worship services. The members were criticized by media and
theologians for their behaviour as it was considered as outrageous and unorthodox, particularly at the
time. Today, the restoration is considered by historians to be the essential push for the spread of
Pentecostalism in the 20th century. This paper will aim to analyze how history may have unfolded if it
had not happened, it will be examining the event and setting it in context that how it has impacted the
history of Christianity for the reformation and modern Church. It will analyze how this event impacted
the historic Pentecostal movement. Being born and bought up in Christian Orthodox Church, for a
long time I could not understand the real meaning of Pentecostalism, but things changed dramatically
in my life, and so did my theology about Church. Throughout the year I have learnt a

It s Time To Reduce Food Waste In Sub-Saharan Africa
Introduction
In Sub Saharan Africa 30% of the population are starving, but in many first world countries ⅓ of all
food produced is wasted before it can be eaten. If the amount of food waste is not reduced Earth will
be unable to support the estimated population growth. Food waste has become a larger problem in the
United States due to over portioning and the mishandling of food, but this problem can be reduced or
even eliminated through making consumers aware of reducing food waste and properly handling the
food they do waste. Transition
Description of Problem Not only does food waste lead to starvation in other parts of the world, but it

While it doesn t have a perfect answer there are simple changes that can be made to reduce food
waste, Cutting down on food waste across the country is a challenge because losses happen at every
stage of the supply chain, experts say. The problem starts on farms with excess crops. It extends to
supersized restaurant portions, grocery stores quick turnover, and Americans tendency to overbuy. To
keep produce from farms from going directly to the trash, there has to be an increased focus on quality
of produce rather than appearance, Another top contributor to food waste in the U.S. is farms, says
Bloom. Agricultural producers regularly leave misshapen vegetables and discolored fruits to rot on the
ground. Why? The food industry has strict standards for produce s shape, size, and color. Harvesting
fruits and vegetables that don t meet those standards can be financially draining for farmers. Pickers
skip over other crops if they suspect the produce will no longer be at peak freshness by the time it
reaches stores. For food that does end up wasted there are ways for people to dispose of it differently.
One way that keeps food out of landfills is composting, Composting is an alternative to disposing of
food in a landfill. Certain elements of foods can be turned into compost to feed and nourish the soil,
helping to cultivate new growth. Park and recreation agencies, like those in Lansing, Michigan, have
utilized composting bins to re purpose the food for their community gardens. This provides the
additional benefit of educating youth about the process of how food is grown. Finally consumer have
to take it upon themselves to only buy what they will eat and to use all leftovers instead of tossing
them into the

Surfactant Respiratory Essay
There is different methods to diagnose respiratory distress in the neonate. Diagnoses can be based on
breath sounds, medical history, physical exams, arterial blood gases, chest x ray, CT scan, heart
sounds, and too much fluid in the body. The arterial blood gas will determine if the infant has enough
oxygen in the blood. The chest x ray will probably show atelectasis, reduce lung volumes, air
bronchograms, and increase lung opacification. The patient will experience abnormal breath sounds.
The infants will have shallow breathing, sharp pulling in of the chest below and between the ribs,

However breathing support from the ventilator or nasal continuous positive pressure is also widely
use. Surfactant helps our lungs stay inflated and prevent them from collapsing. Deficiency of
surfactant can lead to atelectasis. Another condition that can cause surfactant deficiency is reduce
pulmonary blood flow that may cause pulmonary ischemia. Pulmonary ischemia damages the type II
cells so it reduces surfactant production. Surfactant replacement therapy is given to infants as soon as
their born. Surfactant is given to infants to prevent or treat respiratory distress syndrome. Surfactant
decreases the mortality rate caused by RDS. They stop administering surfactant until the infants can
start producing its own. The most common technique used to administer surfactant is through a
breathing tube. A popular treatment that they provide a mother during pregnancy is corticosteroids
therapy. Corticosteroid therapy helps prevent respiratory distress syndrome. Corticosteroids helps the
speed of surfactant to prevent RDS. If for any reason the infant is not producing surfactant on its own,
mechanical ventilation must be provided. Mechanical ventilation is weaned until the infant is able to
produce surfactant. However, nasal continuous positive pressure therapy is more commonly used for
RDS. The nasal CPAP provides a steady smooth flow through the nose. It is usually used for patients

Examples Of Dark Elements In The Castle Of Otranto
What is the meaning of the notion Gothic? This word is generally used in relation to dark elements. In
the Word Histories and Mysteries From Abracatadabra to Zeus is stated clearly that:
...Gothic is related to the name Goth used for one of those invading Germanic tribes. The word
Gothic, first recorded in 1611 in a reference of the language of the Goths, was extended in sense in
several ways, meaning Germanic , medieval, not classical , barbarous and also an architectural style
that was not Greek or Roman. Horace Walpole applied the word Gothic to his novel The Castle of
Otranto, a Gothic Story (1765) in the sense medieval, not classical . From this novel filled with scenes
of terror and gloom in a medieval setting descended a literary genre still popular today; from its
subtitle descended the name for it ( 115).
The Gothic evokes feelings of mystery, leading simultaneously to the dramatic as well as the
sensational, such as incest.
Furthermore, the sublime is considered the most prominent characteristic of the Gothic. There are
certain general features applied to create the necessary atmosphere, and by which a narration might be

The Hacked World Order Summary
The world as we know it is becoming more and more interconnected technologically. A mere decade
or so ago, the internet and the idea that people would spend much of their lives on it was an alien
concept, only floated by nerds and futurologists. However, as the internet and computers came into
their own, the brief, almost carefree toward computer and the internet faded quickly, to be replaced by
a more measured and cautious attitude of realism. This is because, like every other piece of
technology, every nation in the world immediately took computers and started attempting to
understand how to use them for their own personal/national gain. In The Hacked World Order, the
author, Adam Segal explores how nations incorporate computers and the technology of the 21st
century into their arsenal and utilize them both against and for each other. Segal does this way that
appeals to the average person, but if approaching the book from an academic standpoint an extremely
cautious attitude is in order when exploring the different arguments the book makes. ... Show more

It is modernized with computer systems instead of steam gauges. What I think makes the C 130 in
general momentous, is the number of international countries that are using this airframe. Over 60
countries are using this aircraft and it is no surprise since it has been in operation since the 50 s! ( Air
Force Technology (2011, May 5)). A big contribution to this outstanding airframe has to be given to
the developers, the company Lockheed or Lockheed Martin. An astonishing fact is that the same
company has made this aircraft for over 50 years; this just shows that Lockheed knows how to design
and manufacture lasting aircraft to persevere with modern technology. I would say that the years this
aircraft has been in service is enough in itself to say how it impacted the aviation industry, giving it
new means of how to create lasting aircraft for the high demand for its operations.
A few decades ago, the military needed an upgrade on its cargo and troop carrying capabilities. In the

Essay on European and Native American Relations
Beginning in the sixteenth century, Europeans made the voyage to a new world in order to achieve
dreams of opportunity and riches. In this other world the Europeans came upon another people, which
naturally led to a cultural exchange between different groups of people. Although we commonly refer
to European and Indian relations as being between just two very different groups of people, it is
important to recognize this is not entirely true. Although the settlers of the new world are singularly
referred to as Europeans, each group of people came from a different nation and with different
motives and expectations of the new world. Similarly, the Indians were neither a united group nor
necessarily friendly with each other. Due to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Verrazano speaks kindly of these courteous and generous groups, he also speaks of encounters
with people he deems full of crudity and vices. He claims that interaction with these groups was
difficult. He describes their attempts to trade with this group; they sent us what they wanted to give on
a rope, continually shouting to us not to approach the land. This description provides us some insight
into the feelings of the Indians towards these new European invaders. Their actions seem to be based
on fear and apprehension towards these unknown men (Voices of Freedom, 9). Much of European
criticism of Native American was based on differences in religion, land use, and gender relations.
Most Europeans reasoned that Indians needed to be converted to the true religion of Christianity (Give
Me Liberty, 11). In fact, Verrazano concluded that the Indians had no religion or laws (Voices of
Freedom, 10). The Europeans did not understand the Indians use of the land and thus justified
overtaking it, reasoning that they did not truly use it. Some Europeans criticized gender relations,
claiming that women lacked freedom due to their work in the fields (Give me Liberty, 12 13). Others,
like Verrazano, criticized the Indians for having absolute freedom in which they did not abide to any
laws due to ignorance (Voices of Freedom, 10). Regardless of

Medea Vs Jason
Throughout literature, main characters are used to generate the action of a story, and engage the reader
s interest and empathy. In majority of literature, there is always a protagonist and antagonist, in which
the protagonist is the hero or heroine. In the play Medea by Euripides, it can be said that Medea is the
heroine of the story, but her foul acts cannot justify her as a genuine heroine. Her evil minded deeds
can be compared to that of Jason who is considered to be the antagonist of the play. The cruel acts
committed by both Medea and Jason make it difficult for the reader to have a clear distinction as to
who is the true protagonist and antagonist, but they provide insight to the view of humanity portrayed
by Euripides in Medea. Humanity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before having married, Jason was trying to retrieve the Golden Fleece and here Medea fell in love
with him and promised to help him. She helped him retrieve it and she killed her brother to sail away
with Jason. They got married and settled in Corinth with their children. But Jason betrayed his sons
and [Medea], and takes to bed a royal bride. (Euripides, 22 23). This brings up the theme of deceit and
treachery as Jason deceitfully leaves his family for fame and fortune. Jason is a betrayer of [the]
marriage bed (Euripides, 205) as he disrespected his marriage to Medea for fame and fortune from the
princess. Euripides portrays relationships and marriage in a negative way as they are used as symbols
for deceit and fury in Medea. Relationships are depicted as a sign of love, and communion but when
adultery comes into play these aspects are taken away and manipulated into hatred, antagonism, and
pain. Instead of writing a play on the ten years that Jason and Medea were happily married, Euripides
chooses to focus on the times where the couple has feelings of hatred and disgust towards each other.
Euripides deliberately chooses to write about the worst part of the relationship because he wants to
focus on his negative perspective of humanity and also because he enjoys writing tragedies. Euripides
s cynical outlook on society and portraying it negatively allows the playwright to excel in tragedies
such as Medea. Ultimately, acts of deceit like Jason leaving his family for fame and fortune are the

A Lady in a Machine-Shop Essay
In A Lady in a Machine Shop, Susan Bivin Aller uses creativity, determination, and confidence to
demonstrate how they led Margaret Knight to succession as an inventor. Knight and her family moved
to Manchester, New Hampshire when she was at a young age. At the age of twelve, Knight witnessed
a mill worker injured by a steel tipped shuttle. This motivated her to create a safety mechanism, her
first invention, to prevent any further injuries in cotton mills.
Knight s mind was built with creativeness and that helped her succeed. As Knight grew up with her
brothers, she invented sleds, kites, and other playthings that?were the envy of all the boys in town.
Knight often had a smile on her face when making new items for her brothers. She ... Show more

She yearned for helping people and improving the way of life.
Aller also used statistics that demonstrated determination in Knight. At the paper bag company that
she was currently working in, Knight was determined to develop a better paper bag, so ?she completed
a wooden model and made thousands of trial bags in the factory? to help her. Before she had time to
register a patent for the paper bag, a man named Charles F. Annan ?had been spying?he had it copied?
patented in his name.? Annan stole Knight?s model and took the credit, after knowing about Knight?s
past inventions. Because of Knight?s determination, she tried her best to win her side. After all she
have done for her brothers, cotton mills, and the Columbia Paper Bag Company, Knight has built up
willpower and courage. When Knight died, ?she held patents for twenty two inventions and?sixty
more?? Even though Knight invented a wide range of items, many more were waiting to have a patent,
but never had the chance.
Lastly, the most important thing that led Knight to success was confidence in herself. Knight had self
assurance when she was inventing a machine that produced an improved paper bag and ?No one had
been able to make such a machine.? When Annan was on his way to get a patent for the model he stole
from Knight, ?she hired an attorney, and armed with witnesses, documents, drawings,

Essay Desertification And Deforestation
Desertification And Deforestation
The Amazon Rainforest is probably the most important region that is threatened by deforestation. With
over four million squared kilometers it is roughly the size of the United States. The Amazon spreads
across nine South American Countries and contains one fifth of the Worlds fresh water and one third
of the known living species. The land is home to hundreds of indigenous groups and is considered by
many to be the lungs of the planet .
Most of the Amazon is still pristine, but the region is being destroyed at an alarming rate. Over 8
million acres of the rainforest are lost every year. Between 1978 to 1996, 12.5 percent of the
irreplacable rainforest was destroyed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The logging industries punch new roads into pristine forests, invade indigenous lands, parks and
preserves, and murder those who stand in their way. Brazil does not have the means to fully regulate
the logging industries however, the Asain logging companies were fined over one million dollars for
illegal logging last year. The loggers have cut more than 3,000 miles of roads into the intact forest
regions.
The Rainforest Action Network (RAN) has taken action against these loggiing industries. Their
Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) and letter writing campaign
has led the Brazilian National Congress to put mahagony logging on hold for the next two years. Also,
President Cardoso has introduced a measure to stop deforestation as a result of farming and ranching .
This would limit clearing to twenty percent rather than fifty. RAN has also convinced thousands of
U.S. architects, builders and lumber yards to stop seling and using old growth redwood. The are now
calling upon the U.S. to stop all imports of Mahagony.
The biggest threat to the Amazon Basin are the Mega Projects . The goal of these projects are to create
new economic and geographical links between nations. The plan is to criss cross the region with
highways and waterways to access the Amazon s natural resources for commercial trade. These
projects are already underway. The Northern Border Highway is a mega project that will span

The Father Figure Archetype In John Steinbeck s Of Mice...
The archetype that I chose is the father figure archetype. The father figure archetype is a person often
of particular power or influence who serves as an emotional substitute for a parent. The character that
I have chosen is George Milton from John Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men. George fits into the father
figure archetype because throughout the story he fills in as the father figure to Lennie. In the first
chapter of the story we get a look into how George cares for Lennie, Sure we are, if you gather up
some dead willow sticks. I got three cans of beans in my bindle. You get a fire ready. I ll give you a
match when you get the sticks together. Then we ll heat the beans and have supper. From this part of
the story the reader can already get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
George Milton displays the father archetype where Katniss Everdeen displays the rebel/misfit
archetype. Although these characters don t share the same archetype there are still very similar to one
another. In the Hunger Games Katniss is forced at such a young age to take on more responsibility
than the other teenagers in her district as well as other districts, Katniss isn t locked into gender. She
has assumed her dead father s responsibility as family provider and is also a mother for her sister,
Prim. George was also forced to take on a father like role to Lennie once his aunt Clara died. Neither
of these characters expected to be put into the role of care giver for another person but despite the
setback they both overcame and did what they had to do to care for those who needed them. In the
Hunger Games Katniss is considered something new and unheard of. She stands out as a strong female
not afraid to do what she needs to do to strive and care for herself and the needs of others, and make it
out of the game. She s the character in the story that leaves you wanting to know more, She s active,
she s strong and she s the girl who motivates the story. George is different, he isn t fighting to the
death in a game he proves his strength in other ways. George is not only forced to do his daily tasks

Competition In Hesiod s Work And Days
In Hesiod s Work and Days, competition is frowned upon if it gets too strong, but in Homer s pieces,
even petty, mostly unconstructive competition is encouraged. Hesiod proposes that there are actually
two kinds of strife in his society, so one [kind of strife] fosters evil war and battle, being cruel: her no
man loves...But the other [kind of strife makes] a man grow eager to work when he considers his
neighbor (Readings in Greek History 16). In Work and Days, Hesiod argues that so called good strife
is beneficial for human society, but that this strife should have a limit and should stop when it
becomes irrelevant. Hesiod s good strife involves friendly competition, for example, if a man sees his
neighbor being more successful than he is,

What I Learned From The Chief Officer Of The Largest...
When offered a seat on a rocket ship, don t ask what seat just get in Sheryl Sandberg. This quote from
the chief operating officer of the largest social media sites reinforces what I have been taught since I
was young. Taking the chance to do something you could possibly never have the chance to try again
is worth the risk rather than playing it safe and wishing you could have done it. One of my earliest
memories was when I was still living in Robbinsdale. My dad was, and still is, the type of guy that
will let his kids take risks if he knows a lesson could be learned from the outcome. That is exactly
what he did in this situation. I thought is was a good idea to try and climb up a slide at a busy
playground, consequently, there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Normally I would have never tried this at all, not even thought about it, but something that day pulled
me to try it so I did. Going back and thinking about it now it was a really bad idea because I could
barely water ski in general! The pain was immense, the amount of stinging I was feeling was like
nothing I had ever experienced. I was up and doing pretty well for about 40 feet. Then my toe caught
the water and I went face first into the wake of the boat. As I swam up to the surface of the water i
started laughing uncontrollably, I was laughing so hard I thought I was going to inhale water. When I
reached to surface my lungs were burning, it felt like I had gone without air for hours. The boat circled
back around and a lot of my friends were doing the same thing I was doing. Through the laughing and
the that was awesome dude I became addicted to trying new things and taking risks. I began to try
more and more, than, an opportunity came up to do a 13 day hiking trip in the very small town of
cimarron new mexico at the foothills of the rocky mountains, I definitely took the chance to do that.
Through all of the money I spent on gear and all of the training I put in so I would survive the trip was
definitely worth it. Prior to this trip I never would have thought it possible for me to climb an actual
mountain. Looking over the world at over 12,000 ft is the most exhilarating experience I have had the

The Situation Of The Iran Hostage Crisis
On November 4, 1979, an angry mob of some 300 to 500 supposed students who called themselves
Imam s Disciples, laid siege to the American Embassy in Tehran, Iran. The mob held 66 U.S. citizens
and diplomats as hostages. Women and African Americans were released a short while later, but 52
hostages still remained for 444 days. The president took precautions to ensure the safety of the
hostages as well as U.S. relations in Iran. This terrorist act triggered the most profound crisis of the
Carter presidency and began a personal ordeal for Jimmy Carter and the American people. The events
in the Iran Hostage Crisis demonstrate how bad the president at the time, Jimmy Carter, can handle
such a horrible situation. Several negotiations were held between President Jimmy Carter and the mob
at the Embassy even if they weren t taken as good with the mob. First off, Carter imposed sanctions
and applied diplomatic pressure to encourage negotiations for the release of the hostages. Carter then
cancelled oil imports from Iran, expelled a number of Iranians from the U.S., and freezing about $8
billion of Iranian assets in the U.S. The Iranian government denied any responsibility for the incident,
but their failure to take action against the hostage takers belied the denial. This was one of the first
mistakes; making the enemy mad, therefore giving them a stronger spring to bounce back on when
you go attack or invade in their land.

Aspirations In A Raisin In The Sun
In 1959 A Raisin in the Sun debuted on Broadway, marking the debut of the first black playwright.
Four years later in 1963 Martin Luther King Jr not only helped organize spoke during the March on
Washington which up to this point marked one of the largest gatherings of non segregated people in
peaceful protest ever. Both of these incredible and influential works of writing were firsts in their
respective media due to their focus in discussing how America has given the Negro people a bad
check; a check which has come back marked insufficient funds. (King 2). A Raisin in the Sun has
many important and progressive themes but one of the larger themes in the book is dreams and people
s aspirations, as the main characters struggle to deal with institutionalized oppression that rules their
lives. The title of the play is a reference to a poem by Langston Hughes that he wrote about dreams
that were forgotten or put off. He writes about what will happen to people s dreams will they let them
shrivel up like a raisin in the sun. (Hansberry title page) Every member of the Younger family has a
separate, dreams Beneatha wants to become a doctor, for example, and Walter wants to have money so
that he can feel like he can provide for them. The Youngers struggle to obtain these dreams throughout
the story, and many of their ups and downs as a family and individually is directly related to their
attainment of, or failure to attain, these dreams. For example Beneatha The March

Analysis Of The Film Gibber Eidolon
Greetings from the Abyss. The name s Charles Chadwick, and for the last 7 years I have poured
thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of labor into my film Gibber Eidolon. The film is shot
entirely on black and white Super8 film, and uses a myriad of techniques. From hand painted film, to
video generation loss, to hand processing, to found footage and traditionally shot sequences.
The title of the film roughly translates to Babbling Ghost. Babbling from fear or shock. The Gibber
Eidolon is a being that is not quite there because it is suffused with terror. Its perspective is of diffused
chaos.
Concretely, the film is a tour of various San Francisco Bay Area graveyards; almost all of them have
residents going back to the 18th and 19th centuries. Also, the film contains live footage of historic
computer technology, both operational and not. Found footage/archival footage in this same vein is
used as well, in addition to appropriated visual material whose subject matter differs...used mainly for
metaphoric illustration. The work contains footage shot over the last 15 years, as well as found
footage acquired over a period of roughly 13 years.
This movie is first and foremost diaristic. It contains my life: the places I ve been and the way I ve
responded to them, and the ideas I ve had along the way. It is a work of spirit.
The film also is a collaboration between myself and my dear friend Matthew Bambas, who I ve been
working with both on films and music for nearly

Ttc Vision Statement
Introduction There are three things organizations cannot succeed without: vision, mission and qualities
articulations. When they are utilized appropriately, it can turn into a solid apparatus to create and
enhance the business. Leaders of organizations ought to make propelling words for the workers to
unmistakably help them to remember the fundamental motivation behind the firm. By putting forth
inspiring, and mindful proclamation, it is less demanding to speak with representatives to ensure they
know the objectives of the organization. Representatives of an organization with a clear vision,
mission and esteem articulations will more probable work with higher feeling of pride and inspiration
in light of the fact that without purpose and vision, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
vision statements are future based and are meant to inspire and give directions to the employees of the
company, not anyone outside the company...and mission statements are present based statements
designed to convey a sense of why the company exists to both members of the company and the
external community (Kandampully Solnet, 2016) With this in mind, TTC s vision is to create a transit
system that makes Toronto proud, and the mission is to provide a reliable, efficient and integrated bus,
streetcar and subway network that draws its high standards of customer care from our rich traditions
of safety, service and courtesy (TTC corporation, 2013). Making Toronto proud of TTC can only be
accomplished when customers and the riders feel the convenience in our everyday travel with TTC.
No special advertisement, trademarks and no purge political showy behavior can supplant real
conveyance. Equally important, to provide a reliable, efficient and integrated transportation, the TTC
faces a real challenge because pride and loyalty from customers are not achieved from best looking
and cleanest transit vehicles, it comes from how reliable they are and personally the TTC is lacking on
reliability due to frequent delays and lanes closing for construction (Ferreira, 2016). In contrast, transit
organization in Korea, Seoul Metro focuses on safety, service and smart as values and the vision is to
dream bigger by communicating with customers (Seoulmetro, 2016). Seoul Metro s vision and values
do not have the word reliability in it, I trust that it is on account of Seoul Metro has as of now
accomplished faithfulness from clients for being solid and stable. Then again, different from TTC,
Seoul Metro has visions on carrying out cultural projects to make subway stations into warm,
welcoming spaces for cultural and the arts...as well as building an era of ubiquitous access to the
digital world on trains through

These other activists come from all over the world and they are passionate about making the way women and girls are treated, better. They have come over the barriers that are between them, such as religion and culture and haven t stopped until they reached their goals. Women s rights and girls education are issues that affect many women and girls around the world. • 3. The Pros And Cons Of Postal Service Reform Throughout the past eleven years, the Post Office is accumulating massive amounts of debt and is failing to turn a yearly profit. While is it being addressed by certain members of Congress one should desire to diagnose exactly why USPS s budget has a prolific shortcoming. Many people suggest that it is simply the changing times of the market, with more and more people using electronic email and fewer people sending letters in the mail. However, Postal Unions point out that the major problem is the burden of pre funding retirement healthcare plans, also pointing out that is the only government agency is required to do so. In order to fix this growing problem, people have suggested numerous options from changing the mail delivery system to privatizing ... Based on certain figures, door to door delivery is by far the most expensive at about $353 per stop($278 in rural areas), while curbside and cluster methods cost roughly $224 and $160, respectively ($176 and $126 in rural areas). If door to door delivery were eliminated altogether, about $4 billion would be saved. The idea behind this would save the amount of time needed to deliver mail, instead of walking to each individual household, a postal worker could deliver all of the mail for an entire street at one stop, and then simply move on to the next one. This overall would reduce the amount of time and people needed to deliver the same amount of mail. However, this would not necessarily work for all methods of mail, for example, large packages, so some door deliverly would be needed. Overall, it would be relatively easy to pass as long as Congress would decide to put it to a vote, but the Postal Reform Act of 2016, a bill identical to this one, did not even get put up for a vote in either the House or the ... • 4. How Was The X-Ray Diffraction Spectrum Of All Sulfurized... 3.1 Structural properties Figure 1 showed the X ray diffraction spectrum of all sulfurized Co doped FeS2 films. The comparison with JCPDS 01 071 1680 indicated a pure cubic FeS2 structure for all these samples. The ratio between peaks from each sample demonstrated a poly crystal structure. Also, no clear preferential growth direction could be observed for each sample. The peaks of all Co doped films were very close to the pure iron pyrite peaks. No clear peak shift could be observed. This indicated that shallow cobalt doping had little impact on the crystal structure of FeS2. Scherrer equation, as shown in equation 1, was applied to estimate the average crystallite size of these sulfurized films. . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As more electrons were introduced, the net carrier concentration started to decrease until the electrons became the majority carriers. This process may explain the change of conduction type and carrier concentrations. The carrier mobility, however, decreased gradually from 6.52 cm2/V*s to 4.30 cm2/V*s as cobalt doping increased from 2 at% to 6 at%. This phenomenon could be explained as the decreased mean free path of charged carriers because of the larger size of the incorporated cobalt ions than the original iron ions. After switching to n type, the increasing carrier concentration may also contributed to the reducing of carrier mobility. As a consequence, cobalt doping served well as an n type dopant after 3 at% doping level. 3.2.2 Temperature Dependence Figure 2 showed the relationship between the reciprocal of resistivity to the reciprocal of temperature, graphed as a logarithmic plot. The resistance change of the Co doped FeS2 samples with Al electrodes were collected from room temperature (25oC) to 140oC. From Fig.2, the resistance of all samples decreased while heating. This showed a general semiconductor behavior of these Co doped FeS2 films. The data in Fig.2 showed a linear dependence for each sample. The fitting lines could be described by Arrhenius equation as shown in equation 2: . (2) Here σ, k, T means conductivity, Boltzmann constant and temperature, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Edict Of Hamurabi And The Code Of The Salian Franks Civilization has continued to exist and grow because of the many institutions that exist within most individual cultures, such as art, religion, ethics, etc. I believe that the most important factor in the development of civilization and the biggest aid to the success of past societies is law. Law exists in every society that we have seen throughout this semester, whether it be from the earliest examples of written law like in The Code of Hamurabi, or in the most recent example we have seen in The Code of the Salian Franks. I will seek to analyze the examples of important laws that we have seen throughout developing society, and how they were integral to the growth of the civilization they were created in, including: The Code of Hamurabi, The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Enacted in 313 A. D. by Constantine Augustus, this law was made and established to prevent the persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire, and was a huge step forwards for society for a number of reasons. Firstly, the law was a very early example of tolerance and acceptance of religious practices. This law was put in place to bring peace, but more so than just peace it helped set a precedent for future civil issues and how they could be solved. among other things which we saw would be for the good of many, those regulations pertaining to the reverence of the Divinity ought certainly to be made first, so that we might grant to the Christians and others full authority to observe that religion which each preferred; whence any Divinity whatsoever in the seat of the heavens may be propitious and kindly disposed to us and all who are placed under our rule (Edict of Milan, Page 1) The second, and arguably most important advancement this law promoted was a turning point for the development of civilization through the vast growth of Christians following the edict. While the Roman Empire had once been a Polytheistic worshipping society, once Christians were granted the right to free worship, we see a very large shift in the number of Christians compared to other forms of religion within the empire. However, not only were Christians the majority in Rome, they quickly became the dominating religion in the world, and because they became the biggest and most influential religion in the world, their choices in early history are ingrained in our own society today. We typically measure time in history by suffixing years with either BC or AD, which stand for Before Christ and anno domini ; The latter being Latin for The year of our Lord . So through this law, we see civilization not only getting its first taste of civil liberties, but also inadvertently affecting the way in which we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Productivity Improvement in Srew Type Biomass Briquetting In spite of very good potential for using biomass as a renewable source of energy the practice is in very early stage and limping. There are many factors which contribute their parts in making the process unsuccessful. The major ones are seasonality of the raw materials, shortfalls in logistics, absence of proved manufacturing systems, lack of skilled workers and very many technical factors. Considering technical factors for the screw type of briquetting the biomass, the life of the screw and the mould contribute the highest percentage of hindrance to the production process and hence the highest chance of improving the total productivity. A successful process of producing quality briquettes is very essential in using ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To produce low ash, high Btu briquettes form coal fine and timber wastes research works were done in the University of Kentucky. More than 70 million tons of coal fines are dumped at the abandoned site near the Appalachian coal fields. Combining the coal fine with the wastes from nearby timber industries briquettes were made and tested for various parameters. It was concluded that the briquettes were of premium quality and that offers near term practical solutions to generate green energy utilizing existing equipments [1]. There are works going on in designing energy management methods in biomass applications, as at least 15% of energy is wasted in drying the biomass before using in boilers or any other heating system. The typical moisture content of biomass varies from 50% to 63% by weight in most of the situations including the seasons and types of biomass. A low initial moisture level could utilize most of the energy released during combustion and it will make larger boiler unnecessary. Utilizing exhaust gases to preheat the input biomass to a lower level of moisture can conserve the energy significantly [3]. Though briquetting of biomass as a green fuel is a necessary solution, the primary importance of any biomass should be for feeding animals. In Mexico the excesses residues of corn, sugarcane, sorghum and wheat are briquetted and sent to livestock growing regions to handle dry seasons. There were other advantages like homogeneous ... We would stand a better chance of survival if we accommodated ourselves to this planet and viewed it appreciatively, instead of skeptically and dictatorially. ― E.B. White. In accommodation to the environment, the liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants that are being planned to be built in between Brownsville and Port Isabel should be cancelled to keep the Rio Grande and South Padre Island a highly admired tourist site. Liquefied natural gas is natural gas in a liquid form, produced by cooling the gas to 259°F through a process called liquefaction. Comparative religion is the branch of theology that is concerned with the systematic comparison of the different religions of the world. These two religions have been constantly criticized by individuals who may have some knowledge of these religions, but have not dove into the depths to fully understand the origins and beliefs of these two very different religions. Through Salieri s powerful jealousy of Mozart s music and his intense blame on God, the movie proposes the issue of human s incomplete belief in God and the question about the existence of God. Salieri, in the beginning part of the movie, is presented as the profoundly religious human. He believes that God grants his faithful wish to be a successful composer so he tries to devote to his God earnestly. However, after the appearance of Mozart in his life, Salieri starts to distrust God and commit blasphemy. Salieri s emotion of detestation for God resulted from the severe jealousy of Mozart leads him to revenge for God and to break officially his tie with God in the end. The revenge for God and his incarnation Mozart begins in the scene that Constanze the wife of Mozart visits Salieri again in a late night to request his recommendation for her husband to teach Princess Elizabeth. In the movie, when Constanze takes off her dress for a trade with Salieri, the tune of Mass in C Minor K. 427, Kyrie whose lyrics mean Lord have mercy upon us is played. She is an author known for her many books written on the wonders of outer space, as well as the preparation necessary for every astronaut who wishes to someday be sent off of planet earth. Packing for Mars was published in 2010, with the intent of having numerous young adults read the novel, along with any adult space enthusiasts who crave to learn about space, and the life that people have to endure as astronauts. In this novel, it is stated that the genre is biological science. In my own opinion, this book is more of an informational text or a documentary rather than biological science. However, the genre of this novel could easily be perceived as a biography because every test and observational practice was discussed in such excruciatingly precise detail that the author must have been present to have had the ability to describe each event so particularly. Personally, I found the author s writing style to be somewhat irritating. Concerning sentence structure, Mary Roach uses variation in the length of her sentences by ... The couple working on the land is described as a perfect sympathy of movement , implying that there is a faultless harmony and order to their work. Then she details how everything comes from and returns to the earth and how everything undergoes a cycle of life and death. Buck makes sure to repeat the phrase over in order to emphasize the cyclicity of this process. She utilizes commas to separate parts of the sentence, lengthening the sentence, developing a calm attitude at least on part of the writer. Following that, the word so is used to display the inherent inevitability of this process. The short, terse sentence Each had his turn at the earth contrasts with the lengthy descriptive sentences previous to it to display what the author feels is the essence of the cycle. Similarly, in Let it Grow , the songwriters express the cyclicity of nature when he describes how the plow cuts round and round ; how the the ground is becoming to the next season ; and how the black dirt [is] live again . The cycle is briefly described when the songwriter says Seasons round, creatures great and small, up and down as we rise and fall . In essence, both excerpts explore the natural cycle of life. However, the excerpt from the novel discusses cooperation. A subtle metaphor is created where O lan represents the Earth and the production of a child is likened to the cultivation of the land. Thus, the necessity of the emphasis on Wang Lung and O lan working together. Additionally, another distinction is evident when analyzing the two prosaic works: Let It Grow utilizes personification when referring to the natural world, which is notably absent in the excerpt from The Good ... In this specific instance, evolution is the comparative to Creationism. Unlike its counterpart, evolution can be repeatedly tested because it is still happening to this day while the beliefs of Creationism seem to have occurred only once. Additionally, if Creationism was to have any evidence, it would probably be the Bible, but not even that has scientific backing. Along with this Creationism cannot be backed by any branch of science, due to the fact that it does not follow the scientific method. Due to this, Creationism cannot be considered a science and in turn cannot be taught in place of a science curriculum. There are many examples throughout history that show the negative consequences of ignoring or misunderstanding the cultures of other countries. The most recent example is our long sustained operations in the Middle East. We have operated in the Middle East for the better part of two and a half decades. While it doesn t have a perfect answer there are simple changes that can be made to reduce food waste, Cutting down on food waste across the country is a challenge because losses happen at every stage of the supply chain, experts say. The problem starts on farms with excess crops. It extends to supersized restaurant portions, grocery stores quick turnover, and Americans tendency to overbuy. To keep produce from farms from going directly to the trash, there has to be an increased focus on quality of produce rather than appearance, Another top contributor to food waste in the U.S. is farms, says Bloom. Agricultural producers regularly leave misshapen vegetables and discolored fruits to rot on the ground. Why? The food industry has strict standards for produce s shape, size, and color. Harvesting fruits and vegetables that don t meet those standards can be financially draining for farmers. Pickers skip over other crops if they suspect the produce will no longer be at peak freshness by the time it reaches stores. For food that does end up wasted there are ways for people to dispose of it differently. One way that keeps food out of landfills is composting, Composting is an alternative to disposing of food in a landfill. • 35. The Hacked World Order Summary The world as we know it is becoming more and more interconnected technologically. A mere decade or so ago, the internet and the idea that people would spend much of their lives on it was an alien concept, only floated by nerds and futurologists. However, as the internet and computers came into their own, the brief, almost carefree toward computer and the internet faded quickly, to be replaced by a more measured and cautious attitude of realism. This is because, like every other piece of technology, every nation in the world immediately took computers and started attempting to understand how to use them for their own personal/national gain. In The Hacked World Order, the author, Adam Segal explores how nations incorporate computers and the technology of the 21st century into their arsenal and utilize them both against and for each other. Segal does this way that appeals to the average person, but if approaching the book from an academic standpoint an extremely cautious attitude is in order when exploring the different arguments the book makes. ... • 36. Hercules of the Skies Essay There were many important people, aircraft, and developments, which greatly contributed to aviation development, which ultimately impacted the World. Out of many aviation developments, I will write about an aircraft I take pleasure in seeing and hearing, the C 130 Hercules. I consider this aircraft has made a significant impact in the aviation industry, most in the dependability of the airframe and its illustrious design. Today, this aircraft is used for many organizations such as Military Ops, firefighting, and search and rescue. The military is the primary user of this aircraft, for it uses it for many tactical operations. But what makes this aircraft so grand? What I think makes the C 130 in general momentous, is the number of international countries that are using this airframe. Over 60 countries are using this aircraft and it is no surprise since it has been in operation since the 50 s! ( Air Force Technology (2011, May 5)). A big contribution to this outstanding airframe has to be given to the developers, the company Lockheed or Lockheed Martin. An astonishing fact is that the same company has made this aircraft for over 50 years; this just shows that Lockheed knows how to design and manufacture lasting aircraft to persevere with modern technology. I would say that the years this aircraft has been in service is enough in itself to say how it impacted the aviation industry, giving it new means of how to create lasting aircraft for the high demand for its operations. A few decades ago, the military needed an upgrade on its cargo and troop carrying capabilities. In the 1950 s, the less modern World War II cargo aircraft were the C 190, C 47, and C 46 s. These did not meet the requirements for a continuously modernizing U.S. Military. (Simpson, M. (2011, October 19)). Therefore, in 1951, the U.S. Air Force put out a General Operating Requirement for a new airframe that will meet specifications in the category s of how many passengers or paratroopers it will hold, as well as size ... • 38. Essay on European and Native American Relations Beginning in the sixteenth century, Europeans made the voyage to a new world in order to achieve dreams of opportunity and riches. In this other world the Europeans came upon another people, which naturally led to a cultural exchange between different groups of people. Although we commonly refer to European and Indian relations as being between just two very different groups of people, it is important to recognize this is not entirely true. Although the settlers of the new world are singularly referred to as Europeans, each group of people came from a different nation and with different motives and expectations of the new world. While Verrazano speaks kindly of these courteous and generous groups, he also speaks of encounters with people he deems full of crudity and vices. He claims that interaction with these groups was difficult. He describes their attempts to trade with this group; they sent us what they wanted to give on a rope, continually shouting to us not to approach the land. This description provides us some insight into the feelings of the Indians towards these new European invaders. Their actions seem to be based on fear and apprehension towards these unknown men (Voices of Freedom, 9). Much of European criticism of Native American was based on differences in religion, land use, and gender relations. Most Europeans reasoned that Indians needed to be converted to the true religion of Christianity (Give Me Liberty, 11). In fact, Verrazano concluded that the Indians had no religion or laws (Voices of Freedom, 10). The Europeans did not understand the Indians use of the land and thus justified overtaking it, reasoning that they did not truly use it. Some Europeans criticized gender relations, claiming that women lacked freedom due to their work in the fields (Give me Liberty, 12 13). Others, like Verrazano, criticized the Indians for having absolute freedom in which they did not abide to any laws due to ignorance (Voices of Freedom, 10). Regardless of ... • 39. Medea Vs Jason Throughout literature, main characters are used to generate the action of a story, and engage the reader s interest and empathy. In majority of literature, there is always a protagonist and antagonist, in which the protagonist is the hero or heroine. In the play Medea by Euripides, it can be said that Medea is the heroine of the story, but her foul acts cannot justify her as a genuine heroine. Her evil minded deeds can be compared to that of Jason who is considered to be the antagonist of the play. The cruel acts committed by both Medea and Jason make it difficult for the reader to have a clear distinction as to who is the true protagonist and antagonist, but they provide insight to the view of humanity portrayed by Euripides in Medea. She helped him retrieve it and she killed her brother to sail away with Jason. They got married and settled in Corinth with their children. But Jason betrayed his sons and [Medea], and takes to bed a royal bride. (Euripides, 22 23). This brings up the theme of deceit and treachery as Jason deceitfully leaves his family for fame and fortune. Jason is a betrayer of [the] marriage bed (Euripides, 205) as he disrespected his marriage to Medea for fame and fortune from the princess. Euripides portrays relationships and marriage in a negative way as they are used as symbols for deceit and fury in Medea. Relationships are depicted as a sign of love, and communion but when adultery comes into play these aspects are taken away and manipulated into hatred, antagonism, and pain. Instead of writing a play on the ten years that Jason and Medea were happily married, Euripides chooses to focus on the times where the couple has feelings of hatred and disgust towards each other. Euripides deliberately chooses to write about the worst part of the relationship because he wants to focus on his negative perspective of humanity and also because he enjoys writing tragedies. Euripides s cynical outlook on society and portraying it negatively allows the playwright to excel in tragedies such as Medea. Ultimately, acts of deceit like Jason leaving his family for fame and fortune are the types of stories Euripides looks to write on as they provide evidence to the cynical viewpoint of humanity ...
