Essay on How Pyrotechnics and Explosives Have Changed the...
Since man s first experiences with fire we have longed to control it and we wished to will it to do our
bidding. For very long we failed mostly, and we still do sometimes, but with the trials and experiments
we have done and died doing, we succeed now, mostly. The first formula that is still written down of
an explosive or pyrotechnic composition are the three examples of gunpowder in the 1044A.D.
Chinese military guide Wujing Zongyao which showed a few uses of this powder they had
experimented with for near a hundred years. The most used formula from it was approximately 50%
KNO3, also known as Saltpeter in those times, and formally called Potassium nitrate today, ~25% S,
Sulfur, and ~25% carbonaceous matter (mostly charcoal and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Pyrotechnics and explosives have changed the world, us ourselves, and our knowledge of chemistry
and what we learned from it. Chinese gunpowder is the first written and still standing formula of a true
explosive, or pyrotechnic composition. It was first discovered by someone trying to mix life
elongating elixirs, somehow he or she must have lit it up, or dropped it in fire and noticed the flash
and quick burn. It obviously spread decently throughout China because within 100 years or so the
Wujing Zongyao (1044A.D.) was written and it, as stated previously used gunpowder as a military
weapon. Also it was a commonplace to see fireworks of some kind at New Years, celebrations, and
also used to warn away evil spirits by 1000A.D. The Tang Dynasty had plenty of gunpowder trade in
China and on the Silk Road (Harmon 82) and their fireworks would bring in some currency for the
economy. Because they were the first to make gunpowder, the grandfather of all modern pyrotechnics
and bombs, except nuclear, biological, and chemical, they are extremely popular within the
pyrotechnic and explosives communities. They are known for quality powders, amazingly colorful
display mixtures, and going for crazy sized everything pyro related. They used different chemicals to
attain these different colors, not chemicals to add to the boom, or burn, only the color. Our

I Am Not One Standard Belief
I am not one to limit myself of one standard belief. I believe that anybody could offer their opinion
and change my whole mind set on an issue. Therefore, there needs to be a party that accepts change
and new and fresh opinions on certain issues. My party name will relate with the definition of having
multiple opinions on one or more subjects and develop in different directions, divergence. The beliefs
that my party holds are subject to change due to the opinions and ideas of others. This party s ideas
and beliefs can change over time. This is what makes my party so significantly different as the views
of the people will be different but the decisions will be compromises. The views of my party are not
set in stone because greater ideas can shape my party in a different direction, but the purpose of my
party is to reach the people who have multiple opinions and ideas that will help keep America strong,
liberated, and great with a compromise. The political beliefs behind the party Divergent may be
considered contradicting, but will have a set of rules behind each issue. For example, the issue and
beliefs on abortion. Women should have the choice based only on the situation of rape. The woman
did not choose to become raped she has the choice to not have the child, however they will still be
pushed to have the baby and will be given options for after the child is born but the sole decision is up
to the women. People do not understand the amount of traumatic stress a rape can

Blues Music Is Still Based On Emotional Pain
In the beginning of its existence, blues music was a way of expressing ones feelings that they were not
allowed to speak about in mixed company. This was music that expressed from the heart and soul of
painful experiences that continued on throughout the course of living in a divided, unequal society.
Blues music is still based on emotional pain, still the most wonderful way to express tears and
heartache in a catchy sounding musical format. This is the music that touches people in a deeper
manner and helps appease the pain that one has endured. Every blues song produced is a symbol of
past experiences of the writer of the song and its performer. This allows each song to be uniquely
impactful. Many blues songs used racial inequality as a common theme because many black
Americans were suffering from this in their daily lives. The following songs were structured to help
raise support to put an end to the racial inequality that occurred. First, we talk about James Brown s
Say it Loud ( I m Black and I m Proud) . As the title suggests, this song is about black pride. Brown
was a leader in the black community, and encouraged his people to stand up for their rights. The 60 s
were a tumultuous time for race relations in America, and this song became an anthem for the black
power movement. I feel this song is a representation of blues music because James Brown uses this
song for a more than just entertainment. He uses it as an inspiration to help black Americans to rise

The Feast Of The Goat Book Analysis
The Feast of the Goat by Mario Vargas LLosa
Much like Bolano, LLosa s book is also character driven It was speculation when I first started
reading Feast of the Goat but the further into the book I read, the more I come to know more about the
traumatic experiences taking place. The characters were driven with fear: the assassins who killed
Trujillo and Urania who recalled her experiences at her young during her encounter with Trujillo. For
example, in chapter twelve, Salvador spoke with Father Fortin about his mission to kill Trujillo. On
one hand, there was a side of him knowing the consequences of caring out the assassination and as he
put it, wondering once he killed a man if he would go to hell. On the other hand, there was a side of
him that drove him into understanding why Trujillo had to die. During his conversation with Father
Fortin, he spoke of Trujillo and his actions: What they re doing to the bishops, to the churches, that
disgusting campaign television, on the radio, in the papers (LLosa 184). He knew right away that he
had to cut off the hydra s head (184). Upon the issue regarding Urania, she and her Aunt Adelina recall
her father Agustin Cabral (Egghead) and about the letter in The Public Forum that lead to her dad
falling into disgrace. However as the story goes on the timeline does shift its course and ends up back
and forth between the events that occurred before and after what took place at the Mahogany house.
For example, chapter fourteen

Reflective Reflection On Hinduism
Ranjeet Chaudhari

Dr. Salgado
Hinduism Reflection
Hinduism is a major world and oldest extant religion with a billion followers which started in the
Indian subcontinent. It has a variety of systems of philosophy, belief, and ritual, characterized by the
belief in reincarnation one absolute being of multiple manifestations, the law of cause and effect,
following the path of righteousness, and the desire for liberation from the cycle of births and deaths.
Hinduism refers to rich tradition of texts and practices, some of which date back to the second
millennium BC or possibly earlier. In the early 21st century, Hinduism had nearly one billion
adherents worldwide and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I do not want to make a case for either the monotheistic or polytheistic imagination and say that one is
better than the other. In healthy people both can fruitfully coexist, and both have their drawbacks. The
downside to the monotheistic imagination is a tendency toward one sided absolutism. It is crazy that
there are millions of Gods in Hinduism, but Christianity has only one. Hindus are encouraged to relate
to god in the way that suits them best, like worshipping many deities who are believed to be
manifestations of God. I think people believe in multiple Gods because just like an organization that
has different people who take up different roles, different Gods have different responsibilities.
Because gods aren t supported by evidence, people have to use their imagination to interpret their will,
which due to the absence of evidence, will vary from person to person, and nobody can demonstrate,
with evidence, that one person s imagined god id any more real than anyone else s imagined god. As
everyone knows that god is everywhere and watches us, and in Hinduism also they believe that god is
everywhere and in everything. So, the polytheistic imaginations in Hinduism makes sense since they
believe God is everywhere, Hindus worship pretty much everything like Stones, directions, plants,
animals

Virginia Woolf s Theory Of Criticism, Poststructuralism...
Virginia Woolf seemed to think that something changed forever in society and in all of us after the
Great War. She claims nothing had changed; nothing was different. [...]Before the war, people would
have said the same things, but they would have sounded different (Woolf, 1929). She couldn t be more
right: most of the concepts that had hold the western world together for centuries were drastically
altered during the 20th Century, and Literature, as a reflection of the deepest fears and desires of our
human heart, changed with it. Around the year 1915, with Einstein s theory of relativity, the ideas of
time and space were subjectivized. From its cultural impact, this theory of Relativity expanded to the
moral realm opening the door to Relativism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Postructuralism claims that the person is not an independent entity, introducing the notion of the
dissolved or constructed subject; that is, that an individual doesn t make him/herself: their Identity is
shaped by social and linguistic intertwined forces. Derrida argues that by deconstructing our
intellectual universe we obtain a universe with no absolutes, a decentered or relativistic Universe.
From this moment, since the new Relativistic Society cannot define us, Identity becomes an inner
process of negotiation where each individual develops their own image of themselves. Decaux
supports this idea with his conception of Identity as one s definition of the self. On the other hand,
Harré (Yardley Honess, 1987) defends the idea of the self as a mode of personal organization
constructed through the grammatical properties of language, mode that is however not subjective or
belonging to an individual order but to a social or moral order. To him, person is a social concept and
self is the inner unity to which all personal experience belongs as attributes of a subject . Self structure
is, therefore, a social

Literary Devices Used in Albert Camus The Plague
A book of horrors, fear and death. The Plague is a book by Albert Camus which weaves these
emotions and events into one suspenseful tale. Each paragraph and section is written and structured in
such a way as to give the reader insight into the feelings of the victims of the plague, and to show
somewhat of a theme. The passage from section 4, part 4, line number 1 to line number 35 gives us a
glimpse of the melancholy of the people of Oran to their dead loved ones to the extent that they do not
attend All Souls Day, for they were thinking of them too much as it was. Albert Camus fills this
passage with figurative devices, including, diction, personification, pathetic fallacy, metaphors, irony
and a turning point. The first two paragraphs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diction is seen to be used greatly in conveying the suitability of the town for All Souls Day. Pathetic
Fallacy is also used to portray the message by Albert Camus. Also, the cool wind , big clouds...trailing
shadows , glossy and oiled clothing give the impression of a cool, damp shadowy day, with clothing
mimicking this, portraying the psychology of the people of Oran when they are in melancholy for their
loved ones. However, from around the third paragraph onwards, a turning point is seen. As previously
suggested, it was a suitable time of the year for mourning and All Souls Day, but ironically this did not
occur. Albert Camus devices and literary intelligence make it very clear that the melancholy of the
town was to the extent that All Souls Day was neglected. It is seen by a turning point, But these
familiar aspects of All Souls Day could not make us forget that the cemeteries were left unvisited .
This turning point suggests that All Souls Day did not occur as it was previously suggested through
earlier devices, mainly due to the already prevalent grief towards the dead. Albert Camus metaphors
clearly clarifies this, they (the dead) were no longer the forsaken to whom...you came to justify
yourself and they (the dead) were intruders whom you would rather forget .Also, these metaphors give
insight to the attitude of the townspeople towards their dead, that the extended period of thinking and
grief over their dead has caused them not

Hester Prynne In D. H. Lawrence s On The Scarlet Letter
In his essay On the Scarlet Letter, D.H. Lawrence criticizes society s perception of Hester Prynne.
Hester is the protagonist in Nathaniel Hawthorne s novel The Scarlet Letter, and Lawrence regards her
relationship with Arthur Dimmesdale as morally inacceptable. Lawrence also condemns those who try
to condone her sinful behavior. In order to create an effective criticism of Hester Prynne s portrayal,
D. H. Lawrence uses powerful syntax, an ironic and critical tone, and insightful allusions. D. H.

Lawrence uses many insightful allusions, allowing readers to make connections and better
comprehend his argument. Not all readers can immediately understand Lawrence s criticism of Hester
because he uses many unfamiliar arguments. However, by tying in references to books, mythology,
and religion, Lawrence makes his meaning more clear, as readers may be familiar with the cultural
aspects he refers to. The connections the readers make allow Lawrence to better persuade them that
Hester is unworthy of the praise she receives. First, he refers to James Fenimore Cooper s The
Deerslayer, a book about a frontiersman whom Lawrence compares Hester s lover, Dimmesdale, to.
He writes, Deerslayer refused to be seduced by Judith Hutter. At least the Sodom apple of sin didn t
fetch him. Although Lawrence s main criticism is of Hester Prynne, he also expresses disapproval of
Dimmesdale. Lawrence effectively uses Deerslayer to prove that Dimmesdale actively chooses to be
seduced by Hester. He establishes a stark contrast between Dimmesdale and Deerslayer, showing that
Dimmesdale could have turned down Hester but chose not to. By doing so, Lawrence also emphasizes
the sin Hester committed in seducing Dimmesdale. Later, Lawrence references a more commonly
known character, the Greek mythological hero Hercules. He claims that when Hester seduced
Dimmesdale, Dimmesdale s response was along the lines of seduce me, Mrs. Hercules. While
Hercules is remembered for his immense

Why We Should Abortion Be Illegal
Abortion must be illegal in order to save the lives of the unborn. Nobody deserves to be killed by
cause of an unwanted pregnancy. Can you imagine a world without no babies being born? We will
have nobody to love us unconditionally . The process of an abortion leaves the woman with the
feeling of neglect and regret. Nobody should let a baby die, that s why they could give them up for
adoption. Abortion is the definition of murdering, there s many solutions and other ways out that could
help you eliminate abortion. Even though abortion is ending with innocent children s lives, nobody
actually cares how this situation is developing. A large number of countries ban abortion while others
institutions fight against it, in order, to end the usage of abortions, everyone should understand the

The Effect Of Tsunami On Politics And Summer
Is there a connection, if not causality, between tsunami in politics and summer? No one seems to have
carefully studied the association or no one has bothered to post their findings on google. My google
search returned anything but this association. But something must be there to explain as to why
political activities reach their crescendo in the warm season.
July appears to be the month of political turmoil across the world this year. Not every turmoil has
manifested in July, though. Some appeared before the month, but left behind a trail of perilous
aftereffects for July. Some occurred in this very month. All of them have serious consequences, some
for their countries and the wider world and others largely for their respective countries. Some political
convulsions will emerge in the remaining days of this summer.
The most earthshaking tsunami has culminated in the United States. Started early this year, the
presidential primaries have reached their apex. The Republican Party has coronated Donald Trump
reportedly a nativist, xenophobic, Islamophobic, Mexicophobic, and isolationist bigot and real estate
tycoon with frequent records of bankruptcies and bullying as its official candidate in its quadrennial
convention in Cleveland last week.
The United States and the world have much to fear of global economic and political instability from
the Manichean Donal Trump if he wins the presidential election in November this year. Even the fear
of a Third World War is being

Afterlife In The Odyssey
Afterlife
People are always questioning whether Hell and Heaven are real or not. The thought of an afterlife is
something every human thinks about. In Core 3 we read many books, one being Virgil s The Aeneid,
and another being Homer s The Odyssey. Both books have to do with men attempting to complete a
journey. Both books involve the Trojan War and journeys across roaring seas. During each book, the
men enter the afterlife with a guide to help them through Hell, and each author gives their own
thoughts depicting how it might appear. This year in Core 4 we read Dante s Inferno, a book about
Dante going to the afterlife guided by Virgil, a Roman poet. The authors all have some similarities in
their interpretations of Hell. However, there are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All the stories describe what Hell might be like, just from three different perspectives. There are also
differences when comparing the three. In Dante s first Canto, we learn that large beasts guard the gates
of Hell and, to get up to heaven, you must pass through Hell and Purgatory. The large beasts at the
front gates are similar in both Homer s and Virgil s idea of what the front gate could be like. Dante has
Virgil to guide him, Odysseus did not really have a guide but Aeneas had the Sibyl. Dante, like Aeneas
and Odysseus, performed rituals before he entered Hell. When Dante enters hell he is very scared
knowing that very few people who are alive that ever enter Hell and also come back. In all three
stories the living are not welcomed into Hell. Aeneas had the golden stick, Odysseus had permission,
and Dante was allowed because Virgil acquainted him, who was helped from above. All three
characters, when coming up to the gate of Hell, hear cries of the tortured souls and understand this is a
place for torment. In the Aeneid, to enter Hell, you must cross a river, but not in the Odyssey. The
Odyssey does mention some rivers, but does not get into detail about them. Dante is taken across this
river by Cheron. He runs the ferry and takes the doomed souls across the Acheron. The river is filled
with souls trying to escape, but they cannot; this is similar to the

Theme Of Discrimination In Native Son
Discrimination: Past and Present In the United States, there is an immeasurable amount of hate. Ever
since our ancestors came to the United States from England, we search only for differences in each
other. These differences can be anything from the color of one s skin, religion, sex, or expression of
his or her gender, even political beliefs. Consequently, generally one will treat another differently due
to characteristics that they have lack control over. As a human being, one can only tolerate treatment
of this kind for so long, and the subject will eventually retaliate. Yet, when an individual does retaliate
due to poor treatment, there is no thought given into why they did so. Several characters from Native
Son experience this mistreatment which people are still experiencing today. In Richard Wright s novel
Native Son, the characters are treated unjustly. Due to his skin color and socioeconomic status, Bigger
Thomas misses countless opportunities in life. Almost every minority during this era is born with
some disadvantages, identical to Bigger s. For example, Bigger wants to attend aviation school and fly
an airplane, but cannot because of the color of his skin. Bigger says: I wanted to be an aviator once.
But they wouldn t let me go to the school where I was suppose to learn it. They kept all of the colored
boys out (Wright 353). Moreover, Bigger not only misses getting a proper education to have

Field Recording History
One of numerous terms imperative to the scope of this document is field recording. A literal
interpretation (i.e., to record in a field) falls short of what is encompassed. In contrast to the type of
recording with which many musicians may be familiar, within a highly controlled space exhibiting
minimal extraneous sound, field recording is audio recording conducted outside a recording studio.
This comes without exception, acquiring sounds produced by life, nature, or anything else present.
Noted field recordist and ecologist Bernie Krause (b. 1938) categorized the diverse sounds one may
record into three categories. Geophony refers to non biological sounds produced by the earth (e.g.,
wind, water). Sounds made by the species of the recorded area are classified as biophony, while
human generated sounds of any kind are referred to as anthrophony.
Field recording, recording ostensibly in the field in contrast to the studio, provides discernible
explanation. That said, one may frequently find phonography used to describe the same activity.
Phonography, quite literally sound writing , purposefully alludes to ... Show more content on

extensive field recordings for archival. Modern field recording finds an array of uses, including
documentation, research, artistic, and otherwise. The degree to which these recordings are altered
varies among artists, with those that fully delve in phonography exhibiting little tangible
transformation of the acquired material. Some example of this will be illustrated later in discussing

Individual Privacy vs. National Security
Individual Privacy vs. National Security
Individual Privacy vs. National Security is something that many people have argued for years. Many
people have forgotten what a disturbance September 11, 2001 was to everyone in America. This was
the day that 2,992 lives were stolen in the attacks by the Taliban on U.S. soil. Due to this attack the
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) along with the Federal Government has put in place
many new security regulations. Many people have lost touch with why these regulations were put in
place. As well, many people have lost touch with why TSA is using full body scanners and other
security devices. On September 11, 2001 19 members of a global terrorism network called al Qaeda in

America. Even though these full body scanners were recognized by security experts as being better
and more effective at detecting prohibited items than the ordinary metal detectors that had been in use
for decades passengers objected to the new scanners, because they are able to take images through the
subject s clothing, and their alternative, a physical pat down inspection by a TSA security officer
similar to what police officers use to search subjects when they are taken into custody. Critics claim
AIT scanner images and pat downs violate the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which
guarantees the right of citizens to be protected from unreasonable searches, but those same critics have
not offered viable alternatives that would safeguard the traveling public from attacks like those of
Abdulmutallab. In other words, some activists became more focused on safeguarding their personal

Michonne pressed her lips together trying not to give him the indication that he was right on target.
She learned to ski at a ski resort in the Swiss Alps. Maybe.
Are you serious Tipsy? He shook his head. The Swiss Alps.
She threw her hands up defensively. My dad was the ambassador to Switzerland and I ve attended four

I can honestly say, I ve never had a friend like you. I feel like an uncultured hillbilly.
Oh stop. She cut her eyes to the entrance of the stables. So, are you going to show me around or not? I

Religious Expression In Public Schools
For many years, schools have struggled to decide on whether to give students the freedom of religious
expression at school. This difficult topic is especially prevalent in many public schools today. Most
public schools comply with the separation of church and state by instating rules against any kind of
religious expression, essentially mandating conformity among students in terms of religious
expression. Some schools, however, have decided to place no restrictions on religious expression. This
serves to promote individual freedom among students. Even if it may seem that schools strongly differ
when it comes to religious expression, schools do have something in common pertaining to this issue.
They all believe that the unique decision they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After all, it is the school s job to educate our future generation so they are equipped for a world
containing a multitude of religious aspects even if doing so in an indirect manner. Providing students
the freedom to practice whichever religion they choose restricts feelings of pressure to withhold their
religious expression; something they would have to withhold in the name of conformity at some
public schools. As students become inevitably educated about religion through religious expression
around them, they steadily become less intolerant of other religions besides their own. The students
become accepting of the reality that we live in where many different religious beliefs exist among
people in all areas of life. This effect closely mirrors the attitude that these students will have towards
religion in the real world. Not only does exposure to religious expression benefit the students and the
school, but it furthermore benefits the world as a whole by moving the future generation away from
religious intolerance. This creates a world where people can be comfortable and sure in their religion
due to the lack of intolerance directed towards them. Currently, however, religiously motivated hate
crimes are on the rise. In 2004, about 10 percent of all hate crimes were religiously motivated−
compared to 28 percent today (Jackson 1). This is an example of religious intolerance in today s world
which can be remedied by educating the future generation about religion through allowing religious
expression at school. The religious tolerance that is subsequently developed among these students is
what this world so desperately

An Example of a Case Study Analysis
Case Study Analysis Example
1. Executive Summary
The case study that will be analyzed in this report presents the case of an American woman who has
been living and working in Bangkok, Thailand for three years. It comes without saying, that her life in
Bangkok has not been easy. She does not speak Thai language and many of Thais do not speak
English, this poses a communicational barrier. She does not own a car and does not have access to the
corporate car, this poses a navigation barrier. Moreover, she had to face some differences in the
approach to work in within Thai people. It came as a surprise for her that while Americans are usually
ready to fulfill the tasks on the short notice, Thais are more laid back and are not willing to rush ...

These numbers may be assumed to be relevant today. Chauvinism is, in fact, one of the only points
that cannot be tolerated. While some of Racela s integration problems can be solved or at least
negotiated, the chauvinism that is enrooted in the culture is impossible to cope with for a Western
person.
When coming to analyze the positive aspects of Racela s life in Thailand we see that they are also
valuable. To begin with nothing broadens the horizon the way travelling, and not only travelling but
attempt for integration does. Racela mentions that she has become a totally different person and this is
noticeable to everyone. This change had occurred in Racela because over the course of the last three
years she got a chance to learn loads of facts about a totally new country. Moreover, she met people
whose culture and behavior was so different from what she has used to, she has seen poverty, the latter
made her realize that there are many things she must appreciate. So, to cut a long story short, looking
back at the last three years we cannot but define them as meaningful and contributive to Racela s
character formation.

Analysis Of Sherman s The Battle Of The Sea
4 Sherman s March To The Sea
Sherman s March to the Sea is the name commonly given to the Savannah Campaign by Maj. Gen.
William Tecumseh Sherman taking place from November 15, 1864 to December 21, 1864. which
followed the successful Atlanta Campaign. After leaving the decimated city of Atlanta on November
16, Sherman led his troops on a destructive campaign which concluded with the capture of the port
city of Savannah on December 21. It is known for its boldness as well as the sheer destruction
inflicted on the south, both to its industry as well as military targets, effectively destroying the
Confederate s capacity to wage war.
Efforts to forestall Sherman s operations in central Georgia began in late September 1864, when
President Jefferson Davis personally visited the threatened front. On September 25 he reached
Palmetto, Ga., some 25 miles southwest of enemy occupied Atlanta. Palmetto was then headquarters
for General John B. Hood, commanding the Confederate Army of Tennessee.
Just two months earlier Davis had bumped Hood up the seniority ladder to take over the army after
General Joseph E. Johnston had failed to stop Sherman s march from Chattanooga to the outskirts of
Atlanta. Hood quickly launched a series of fierce offensive strikes at the Union forces enfolding the
city. None succeeded in halting the enemy, however, and Atlanta was abandoned on September 1.
Hood did have another plan, which, considering his situation, was about as good as could be expected.

Banishment In The Knight s Tale
The Knight s Tale is a section of the famous Canterbury Tales written by Geoffrey Chaucer. The
Knight s Tale starts out with the description of the king of Athens and former Minotaur slayer,
Theseus. Now, Theseus was a man of great respect, and he helped whomever he could, including
comforting women at the beginning of the story who were weeping over the loss of their children to
the Minotaur years ago. He was also described as having a great prison, where he help two former
princes Palamon and Arcite. These prisoners also happened to be cousins. One day, while looking out
the prison window Palamon saw the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, and it made him give a
scream of joy, for he was in love. Arcite, who had been sleeping at the time buzzed to life and the

Sweeney Todd Analysis
Sweeney Todd 2005 Review Sweeney Todd is composed by the spectacular Stephen Sondheim, and
this production was directed by John Doyle in 2005. This Musical is about a barber Benjamin
Barker/Sweeney Todd who s sent away by Judge Turpin because he wanted Todd s wife. Todd is told
by his friend Mrs. Lovett that his wife died and his daughter Johanna is being kept by Turpin who is
planning to marry her. Todd vows that he will take revenge on The Judge. As Sweeney awaits his
revenge, he works as a barber and kills his clients while Mrs. Lovett runs a meat pie shop and uses the
people Todd kills for the pies. I will be discussing the performances and the way the pieces are
written. Therefore, I will not be able to talk about each track.

Lovett has just told Todd what had happened to his wife and daughter, and Todd is incredibly angry
and ready to kill the judge. After, Mrs. Lovett gives a case of Todd s old razors to him and says you
could be a Barber again . The song starts with a repetitive, hypnotic motion in the piano. Also vocally
this is awfully rigid and has a whispery quality to it. Todd goes into a trance like state and the only
entity he can focus on is the razors. As the song goes on Mrs. Lovett chimes in with telling Todd how
she fancies him, but Todd remains fully invested in his razors almost as if they were another human
being. The number closes with Todd in immense triumph as he states at last my right arm is complete
again . The performances in this number are okay, Michael Cerveris has a fine grasp of this character.
The joy is heard in his voice towards the conclusion of the song when he s talking about what he will
achieve with the razors. Yet throughout the song he s incredibly staccato on his sections where he
should be legato, it s fairly distracting. While Patti LuPone has an odd way of shaping her vowels, this
makes it difficult to hear her text. Also the speed in the section where Todd and Lovett are singing
together is too slow. It s a point in immense joy for both of them and the music should be faster
because of that. Overall the track isn t the best version of My Friends out there, however it s still
enjoyable to hear with the new

Covenant Village Of Cromwell Is A Retirement Community Essay
Introduction
Covenant Village of Cromwell is a retirement community that is a subsidiary of Covenant Village
Retirement Communities, which hosts fourteen retirement locations throughout the United States. The
location I worked for has several departments, such as nursing, independent living, housekeeping, and
dining services. It houses hundreds of residents in three main categories: independent living, semi
independent living, and assisted living. There are approximately 300 staff members that work across
campus in a variety of roles, such as nursing, maintenance, activities, housekeeping, and aides. I
worked within dining services, where there were about 50 staff members with two main dining rooms
on campus. The dining rooms were responsible for providing meals to the residents: either breakfast,
lunch, or dinner, depending on each resident s individual needs. In assisted living, the main dining
room was named Pineview, and in semi independent living, the dining room was referred to as the
Village. There were two dining room managers and four floor supervisors, so each side and one
manager and two supervisors. Within the kitchens, there were three different divisions, which were the
cooks, the wait staff, and the utility staff. Within my division, wait staff, there were also trainers, who
were tasked with watching over and training new staff. There were also three different roles within
wait staff, including the hosts, the runners, and the servers.

Peace Unreachable In Israel And Palestine
Peace Unreachable in Israel and Palestine
Peace in Israel and Palestine has been unreachable for a long time. They have been fighting since the
end of World War 1 when the British promise both these countries the same land. And still to this day
the two countries are fighting. These two countries haven t made peace in over 103 years so I doubt
they will anytime soon.
The war between Israel and Palestine started when the British promise both of them the same land.
This promise has caused many wars between Israel and Palestine making it almost impossible for
them to make peace again. This promise made by the British was called The Balfour Declaration,
made in November 1917 by the British Government. (If Americans Knew.) The Balfour Declaration ...

These wars have been going on since the British made the promise to the two groups. Although some

war Israel won and gained control over the West Banks, the Gaza Strip, the Sinai Peninsula, and the
Golan Heights. By 1967 Israel controlled all of Palestine. (Crash Course, John Green) By the late
1980s Palestine Launched its first intifada. This began with boycotts of Israeli products and services
and refusing to pay Israeli taxes. These boycotts also caused the the first suicide bombing against
Israel in 1993. (Course Hero s) Another example of a major war that made it hard for the two
countries to make peace again happened on March 11, 1978. Nearly a dozen armed Palestinian
terrorists landed their boats near a major coastal road in Israel. There they hijacked a bus and sprayed
gunfire inside and at passing vehicles, killing thirty seven civilians. All of these wars have made it
hard for the two countries to make peace, even mosts of the Palestinians don t believe there will be
peace any time soon. This can be proven by a quote found on wikipedia.org The expansion of Israeli
settlements in the West Bank has led the majority of Palestinians to believe that Israel is not

Sophie Neveu And Chicago Robert Langdon
If this story was relocated to modern Chicago Robert Langdon would have been brought in for

Sophie Neveu wouldn t have been able to rescue Langdon from the crime scene. They would have to

Relationship Between Intelligence And Creativity
What is the relationship between intelligence and creativity?
In this essay I will explore the correlation between intelligence (IQ) and creativity (DT), and whether
one is influenced or can be predicted by the existence of the other. The relationship between IQ
(intelligence quotient) and creativity has been an anchor point for psychological research. Numerous
amounts of psychologists have carried out research in order to find evidence to support this idea of a
correlation or evidence to disprove the hypothesis that IQ and creativity could be related.
IQ is defined as a measure of intelligence that shows the ratio of an individual s mental age to their
chronological age, this is then multiplied by 100 (Cattel 1972). Creativity cannot be measured by
undertaking an IQ test, creativity is subjective and the simplest way of defining it is the ability to
create original, useful and surprising new things. However, over the years pioneering research has
inspired psychologists to devise tests to measure creativity. The most famous Divergent Thinking test
is Guildfords Alternative Uses Task established in 1967. This test proposes that the individual
involved should think of alternative uses for a common item such as a brick. This way of measuring
Divergent Thinking is universally used in contemporary testing of creativity.
In order to analyse and examine whether or not creativity and IQ have a relationship and whether its
influential on each other, I looked at the founding

Compare and contrast the two main figures of the European...
Napoleon s tragedy was that his ambitions surpassed his capacities; Bismarck s tragedy was that his
capacities exceeded his society s ability to absorb them. The legacy Napoleon left for France was
strategic paralysis; the legacy the Bismarck left for Germany was unassimilable greatness (statement
made by Henry Kissinger) is in my opinion a correct statement. This statement can actually be
separated into two parts. The first parts relates with the capacities, ambitions and successes of
Bismarck and Napoleon. The second part is about the final result of their reign and how their reigns
could be taken over after such changing of Europe.
Bismarck main objective was to bring together the German states and to form a powerful great

He wanted to create division in Europe, therefore he created crisis here and there, but couldn t control
the outcomes afterwards! Time and again, he would encourage a crisis now in Italy, now in Poland,
later in Germany only to recoil before its ultimate consequence (P.107 Kissinger) or Napoleon made
himself the prisoner of crisis he had himself engineered (P.107 Kissinger). Those crises would finally
result in Italy and Germany as Unification and new difficulties for Napoleon to cope with. His foreign
affaires always came out to be failures and to finally work against him.
Napoleon destroyed by many ways all the other alliances that were made between France and other
great powers, by supporting conflicts that wouldn t even benefit France. He supported the Italians in
the war against Austria, this laid to Italian Unification which made one more power to deal with
afterwards. He finally concluded an armistice with Austria ... without informing his Piedmontese allies
(P.111 Kissinger), creating hatred among the Italians towards his country. Austria was considered by
Napoleon as repugnant , therefore he wouldn t try to collaborate with them: As a Bonaparte,

  • 2. Essay on How Pyrotechnics and Explosives Have Changed the... Since man s first experiences with fire we have longed to control it and we wished to will it to do our bidding. For very long we failed mostly, and we still do sometimes, but with the trials and experiments we have done and died doing, we succeed now, mostly. The first formula that is still written down of an explosive or pyrotechnic composition are the three examples of gunpowder in the 1044A.D. Chinese military guide Wujing Zongyao which showed a few uses of this powder they had experimented with for near a hundred years. The most used formula from it was approximately 50% KNO3, also known as Saltpeter in those times, and formally called Potassium nitrate today, ~25% S, Sulfur, and ~25% carbonaceous matter (mostly charcoal and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pyrotechnics and explosives have changed the world, us ourselves, and our knowledge of chemistry and what we learned from it. Chinese gunpowder is the first written and still standing formula of a true explosive, or pyrotechnic composition. It was first discovered by someone trying to mix life elongating elixirs, somehow he or she must have lit it up, or dropped it in fire and noticed the flash and quick burn. It obviously spread decently throughout China because within 100 years or so the Wujing Zongyao (1044A.D.) was written and it, as stated previously used gunpowder as a military weapon. Also it was a commonplace to see fireworks of some kind at New Years, celebrations, and also used to warn away evil spirits by 1000A.D. The Tang Dynasty had plenty of gunpowder trade in China and on the Silk Road (Harmon 82) and their fireworks would bring in some currency for the economy. Because they were the first to make gunpowder, the grandfather of all modern pyrotechnics and bombs, except nuclear, biological, and chemical, they are extremely popular within the pyrotechnic and explosives communities. They are known for quality powders, amazingly colorful display mixtures, and going for crazy sized everything pyro related. They used different chemicals to attain these different colors, not chemicals to add to the boom, or burn, only the color. Our understanding of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. I Am Not One Standard Belief I am not one to limit myself of one standard belief. I believe that anybody could offer their opinion and change my whole mind set on an issue. Therefore, there needs to be a party that accepts change and new and fresh opinions on certain issues. My party name will relate with the definition of having multiple opinions on one or more subjects and develop in different directions, divergence. The beliefs that my party holds are subject to change due to the opinions and ideas of others. This party s ideas and beliefs can change over time. This is what makes my party so significantly different as the views of the people will be different but the decisions will be compromises. The views of my party are not set in stone because greater ideas can shape my party in a different direction, but the purpose of my party is to reach the people who have multiple opinions and ideas that will help keep America strong, liberated, and great with a compromise. The political beliefs behind the party Divergent may be considered contradicting, but will have a set of rules behind each issue. For example, the issue and beliefs on abortion. Women should have the choice based only on the situation of rape. The woman did not choose to become raped she has the choice to not have the child, however they will still be pushed to have the baby and will be given options for after the child is born but the sole decision is up to the women. People do not understand the amount of traumatic stress a rape can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Blues Music Is Still Based On Emotional Pain In the beginning of its existence, blues music was a way of expressing ones feelings that they were not allowed to speak about in mixed company. This was music that expressed from the heart and soul of painful experiences that continued on throughout the course of living in a divided, unequal society. Blues music is still based on emotional pain, still the most wonderful way to express tears and heartache in a catchy sounding musical format. This is the music that touches people in a deeper manner and helps appease the pain that one has endured. Every blues song produced is a symbol of past experiences of the writer of the song and its performer. This allows each song to be uniquely impactful. Many blues songs used racial inequality as a common theme because many black Americans were suffering from this in their daily lives. The following songs were structured to help raise support to put an end to the racial inequality that occurred. First, we talk about James Brown s Say it Loud ( I m Black and I m Proud) . As the title suggests, this song is about black pride. Brown was a leader in the black community, and encouraged his people to stand up for their rights. The 60 s were a tumultuous time for race relations in America, and this song became an anthem for the black power movement. I feel this song is a representation of blues music because James Brown uses this song for a more than just entertainment. He uses it as an inspiration to help black Americans to rise out of ... • 5. The Feast Of The Goat Book Analysis The Feast of the Goat by Mario Vargas LLosa Much like Bolano, LLosa s book is also character driven It was speculation when I first started reading Feast of the Goat but the further into the book I read, the more I come to know more about the traumatic experiences taking place. The characters were driven with fear: the assassins who killed Trujillo and Urania who recalled her experiences at her young during her encounter with Trujillo. For example, in chapter twelve, Salvador spoke with Father Fortin about his mission to kill Trujillo. On one hand, there was a side of him knowing the consequences of caring out the assassination and as he put it, wondering once he killed a man if he would go to hell. On the other hand, there was a side of him that drove him into understanding why Trujillo had to die. During his conversation with Father Fortin, he spoke of Trujillo and his actions: What they re doing to the bishops, to the churches, that disgusting campaign television, on the radio, in the papers (LLosa 184). He knew right away that he had to cut off the hydra s head (184). Upon the issue regarding Urania, she and her Aunt Adelina recall her father Agustin Cabral (Egghead) and about the letter in The Public Forum that lead to her dad falling into disgrace. However as the story goes on the timeline does shift its course and ends up back and forth between the events that occurred before and after what took place at the Mahogany house. For example, chapter fourteen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Reflective Reflection On Hinduism Ranjeet Chaudhari FYI 102 12 Dr. Salgado Hinduism Reflection Hinduism is a major world and oldest extant religion with a billion followers which started in the Indian subcontinent. It has a variety of systems of philosophy, belief, and ritual, characterized by the belief in reincarnation one absolute being of multiple manifestations, the law of cause and effect, following the path of righteousness, and the desire for liberation from the cycle of births and deaths. Hinduism refers to rich tradition of texts and practices, some of which date back to the second millennium BC or possibly earlier. In the early 21st century, Hinduism had nearly one billion adherents worldwide and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I do not want to make a case for either the monotheistic or polytheistic imagination and say that one is better than the other. In healthy people both can fruitfully coexist, and both have their drawbacks. The downside to the monotheistic imagination is a tendency toward one sided absolutism. It is crazy that there are millions of Gods in Hinduism, but Christianity has only one. Hindus are encouraged to relate to god in the way that suits them best, like worshipping many deities who are believed to be manifestations of God. I think people believe in multiple Gods because just like an organization that has different people who take up different roles, different Gods have different responsibilities. Because gods aren t supported by evidence, people have to use their imagination to interpret their will, which due to the absence of evidence, will vary from person to person, and nobody can demonstrate, with evidence, that one person s imagined god id any more real than anyone else s imagined god. As everyone knows that god is everywhere and watches us, and in Hinduism also they believe that god is everywhere and in everything. So, the polytheistic imaginations in Hinduism makes sense since they believe God is everywhere, Hindus worship pretty much everything like Stones, directions, plants, animals ... • 7. Virginia Woolf s Theory Of Criticism, Poststructuralism... Virginia Woolf seemed to think that something changed forever in society and in all of us after the Great War. She claims nothing had changed; nothing was different. [...]Before the war, people would have said the same things, but they would have sounded different (Woolf, 1929). She couldn t be more right: most of the concepts that had hold the western world together for centuries were drastically altered during the 20th Century, and Literature, as a reflection of the deepest fears and desires of our human heart, changed with it. Around the year 1915, with Einstein s theory of relativity, the ideas of time and space were subjectivized. From its cultural impact, this theory of Relativity expanded to the moral realm opening the door to Relativism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Postructuralism claims that the person is not an independent entity, introducing the notion of the dissolved or constructed subject; that is, that an individual doesn t make him/herself: their Identity is shaped by social and linguistic intertwined forces. Derrida argues that by deconstructing our intellectual universe we obtain a universe with no absolutes, a decentered or relativistic Universe. From this moment, since the new Relativistic Society cannot define us, Identity becomes an inner process of negotiation where each individual develops their own image of themselves. Decaux supports this idea with his conception of Identity as one s definition of the self. On the other hand, Harré (Yardley Honess, 1987) defends the idea of the self as a mode of personal organization constructed through the grammatical properties of language, mode that is however not subjective or belonging to an individual order but to a social or moral order. To him, person is a social concept and self is the inner unity to which all personal experience belongs as attributes of a subject . Self structure is, therefore, a social ... • 8. Literary Devices Used in Albert Camus The Plague A book of horrors, fear and death. The Plague is a book by Albert Camus which weaves these emotions and events into one suspenseful tale. Each paragraph and section is written and structured in such a way as to give the reader insight into the feelings of the victims of the plague, and to show somewhat of a theme. The passage from section 4, part 4, line number 1 to line number 35 gives us a glimpse of the melancholy of the people of Oran to their dead loved ones to the extent that they do not attend All Souls Day, for they were thinking of them too much as it was. Albert Camus fills this passage with figurative devices, including, diction, personification, pathetic fallacy, metaphors, irony and a turning point. The first two paragraphs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Diction is seen to be used greatly in conveying the suitability of the town for All Souls Day. Pathetic Fallacy is also used to portray the message by Albert Camus. Also, the cool wind , big clouds...trailing shadows , glossy and oiled clothing give the impression of a cool, damp shadowy day, with clothing mimicking this, portraying the psychology of the people of Oran when they are in melancholy for their loved ones. However, from around the third paragraph onwards, a turning point is seen. As previously suggested, it was a suitable time of the year for mourning and All Souls Day, but ironically this did not occur. Albert Camus devices and literary intelligence make it very clear that the melancholy of the town was to the extent that All Souls Day was neglected. It is seen by a turning point, But these familiar aspects of All Souls Day could not make us forget that the cemeteries were left unvisited . This turning point suggests that All Souls Day did not occur as it was previously suggested through earlier devices, mainly due to the already prevalent grief towards the dead. Albert Camus metaphors clearly clarifies this, they (the dead) were no longer the forsaken to whom...you came to justify yourself and they (the dead) were intruders whom you would rather forget .Also, these metaphors give insight to the attitude of the townspeople towards their dead, that the extended period of thinking and grief over their dead has caused them not ... • 9. Hester Prynne In D. H. Lawrence s On The Scarlet Letter In his essay On the Scarlet Letter, D.H. Lawrence criticizes society s perception of Hester Prynne. Hester is the protagonist in Nathaniel Hawthorne s novel The Scarlet Letter, and Lawrence regards her relationship with Arthur Dimmesdale as morally inacceptable. Lawrence also condemns those who try to condone her sinful behavior. In order to create an effective criticism of Hester Prynne s portrayal, D. H. Lawrence uses powerful syntax, an ironic and critical tone, and insightful allusions. D. H. Lawrence uses powerful syntax to develop an effective critique of Hester Prynne s character. Lawrence uses many insightful allusions, allowing readers to make connections and better comprehend his argument. Not all readers can immediately understand Lawrence s criticism of Hester because he uses many unfamiliar arguments. However, by tying in references to books, mythology, and religion, Lawrence makes his meaning more clear, as readers may be familiar with the cultural aspects he refers to. The connections the readers make allow Lawrence to better persuade them that Hester is unworthy of the praise she receives. First, he refers to James Fenimore Cooper s The Deerslayer, a book about a frontiersman whom Lawrence compares Hester s lover, Dimmesdale, to. He writes, Deerslayer refused to be seduced by Judith Hutter. At least the Sodom apple of sin didn t fetch him. Although Lawrence s main criticism is of Hester Prynne, he also expresses disapproval of Dimmesdale. Lawrence effectively uses Deerslayer to prove that Dimmesdale actively chooses to be seduced by Hester. He establishes a stark contrast between Dimmesdale and Deerslayer, showing that Dimmesdale could have turned down Hester but chose not to. By doing so, Lawrence also emphasizes the sin Hester committed in seducing Dimmesdale. Later, Lawrence references a more commonly known character, the Greek mythological hero Hercules. He claims that when Hester seduced Dimmesdale, Dimmesdale s response was along the lines of seduce me, Mrs. Hercules. While Hercules is remembered for his immense ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Effect Of Tsunami On Politics And Summer Is there a connection, if not causality, between tsunami in politics and summer? No one seems to have carefully studied the association or no one has bothered to post their findings on google. My google search returned anything but this association. But something must be there to explain as to why political activities reach their crescendo in the warm season. July appears to be the month of political turmoil across the world this year. Not every turmoil has manifested in July, though. Some appeared before the month, but left behind a trail of perilous aftereffects for July. Some occurred in this very month. All of them have serious consequences, some for their countries and the wider world and others largely for their respective countries. Some political convulsions will emerge in the remaining days of this summer. The most earthshaking tsunami has culminated in the United States. Started early this year, the presidential primaries have reached their apex. The Republican Party has coronated Donald Trump reportedly a nativist, xenophobic, Islamophobic, Mexicophobic, and isolationist bigot and real estate tycoon with frequent records of bankruptcies and bullying as its official candidate in its quadrennial convention in Cleveland last week. • 13. Afterlife In The Odyssey Afterlife People are always questioning whether Hell and Heaven are real or not. The thought of an afterlife is something every human thinks about. In Core 3 we read many books, one being Virgil s The Aeneid, and another being Homer s The Odyssey. Both books have to do with men attempting to complete a journey. Both books involve the Trojan War and journeys across roaring seas. During each book, the men enter the afterlife with a guide to help them through Hell, and each author gives their own thoughts depicting how it might appear. This year in Core 4 we read Dante s Inferno, a book about Dante going to the afterlife guided by Virgil, a Roman poet. The authors all have some similarities in their interpretations of Hell. There are also differences when comparing the three. In Dante s first Canto, we learn that large beasts guard the gates of Hell and, to get up to heaven, you must pass through Hell and Purgatory. The large beasts at the front gates are similar in both Homer s and Virgil s idea of what the front gate could be like. Dante has Virgil to guide him, Odysseus did not really have a guide but Aeneas had the Sibyl. Dante, like Aeneas and Odysseus, performed rituals before he entered Hell. When Dante enters hell he is very scared knowing that very few people who are alive that ever enter Hell and also come back. In all three stories the living are not welcomed into Hell. Aeneas had the golden stick, Odysseus had permission, and Dante was allowed because Virgil acquainted him, who was helped from above. All three characters, when coming up to the gate of Hell, hear cries of the tortured souls and understand this is a place for torment. In the Aeneid, to enter Hell, you must cross a river, but not in the Odyssey. The Odyssey does mention some rivers, but does not get into detail about them. • 15. Theme Of Discrimination In Native Son Discrimination: Past and Present In the United States, there is an immeasurable amount of hate. Ever since our ancestors came to the United States from England, we search only for differences in each other. These differences can be anything from the color of one s skin, religion, sex, or expression of his or her gender, even political beliefs. Consequently, generally one will treat another differently due to characteristics that they have lack control over. As a human being, one can only tolerate treatment of this kind for so long, and the subject will eventually retaliate. Yet, when an individual does retaliate due to poor treatment, there is no thought given into why they did so. Several characters from Native Son experience this mistreatment which people are still experiencing today. In Richard Wright s novel Native Son, the characters are treated unjustly. Due to his skin color and socioeconomic status, Bigger Thomas misses countless opportunities in life. Almost every minority during this era is born with some disadvantages, identical to Bigger s. For example, Bigger wants to attend aviation school and fly an airplane, but cannot because of the color of his skin. Bigger says: I wanted to be an aviator once. A literal interpretation (i.e., to record in a field) falls short of what is encompassed. In contrast to the type of recording with which many musicians may be familiar, within a highly controlled space exhibiting minimal extraneous sound, field recording is audio recording conducted outside a recording studio. This comes without exception, acquiring sounds produced by life, nature, or anything else present. Noted field recordist and ecologist Bernie Krause (b. 1938) categorized the diverse sounds one may record into three categories. Geophony refers to non biological sounds produced by the earth (e.g., wind, water). Sounds made by the species of the recorded area are classified as biophony, while human generated sounds of any kind are referred to as anthrophony. Field recording, recording ostensibly in the field in contrast to the studio, provides discernible explanation. That said, one may frequently find phonography used to describe the same activity. Even though these full body scanners were recognized by security experts as being better and more effective at detecting prohibited items than the ordinary metal detectors that had been in use for decades passengers objected to the new scanners, because they are able to take images through the subject s clothing, and their alternative, a physical pat down inspection by a TSA security officer similar to what police officers use to search subjects when they are taken into custody. Critics claim AIT scanner images and pat downs violate the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees the right of citizens to be protected from unreasonable searches, but those same critics have not offered viable alternatives that would safeguard the traveling public from attacks like those of Abdulmutallab. This difficult topic is especially prevalent in many public schools today. Most public schools comply with the separation of church and state by instating rules against any kind of religious expression, essentially mandating conformity among students in terms of religious expression. Some schools, however, have decided to place no restrictions on religious expression. This serves to promote individual freedom among students. After all, it is the school s job to educate our future generation so they are equipped for a world containing a multitude of religious aspects even if doing so in an indirect manner. Providing students the freedom to practice whichever religion they choose restricts feelings of pressure to withhold their religious expression; something they would have to withhold in the name of conformity at some public schools. As students become inevitably educated about religion through religious expression around them, they steadily become less intolerant of other religions besides their own. The students become accepting of the reality that we live in where many different religious beliefs exist among people in all areas of life. This effect closely mirrors the attitude that these students will have towards religion in the real world. Not only does exposure to religious expression benefit the students and the school, but it furthermore benefits the world as a whole by moving the future generation away from religious intolerance. This creates a world where people can be comfortable and sure in their religion due to the lack of intolerance directed towards them. Currently, however, religiously motivated hate crimes are on the rise. In 2004, about 10 percent of all hate crimes were religiously motivated− compared to 28 percent today (Jackson 1). After leaving the decimated city of Atlanta on November 16, Sherman led his troops on a destructive campaign which concluded with the capture of the port city of Savannah on December 21. It is known for its boldness as well as the sheer destruction inflicted on the south, both to its industry as well as military targets, effectively destroying the Confederate s capacity to wage war. Efforts to forestall Sherman s operations in central Georgia began in late September 1864, when President Jefferson Davis personally visited the threatened front. On September 25 he reached Palmetto, Ga., some 25 miles southwest of enemy occupied Atlanta. Palmetto was then headquarters for General John B. Hood, commanding the Confederate Army of Tennessee. Just two months earlier Davis had bumped Hood up the seniority ladder to take over the army after General Joseph E. Johnston had failed to stop Sherman s march from Chattanooga to the outskirts of Atlanta. Hood quickly launched a series of fierce offensive strikes at the Union forces enfolding the city. This promise made by the British was called The Balfour Declaration, made in November 1917 by the British Government. (If Americans Knew.) The Balfour Declaration ... (Crash Course, John Green) By the late 1980s Palestine Launched its first intifada. This began with boycotts of Israeli products and services and refusing to pay Israeli taxes. These boycotts also caused the the first suicide bombing against Israel in 1993. (Course Hero s) Another example of a major war that made it hard for the two countries to make peace again happened on March 11, 1978. Nearly a dozen armed Palestinian terrorists landed their boats near a major coastal road in Israel. There they hijacked a bus and sprayed gunfire inside and at passing vehicles, killing thirty seven civilians. All of these wars have made it hard for the two countries to make peace, even mosts of the Palestinians don t believe there will be peace any time soon. This can be proven by a quote found on wikipedia.org The expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank has led the majority of Palestinians to believe that Israel is not committed to reaching an agreement, but rather to a pursuit of ... • 32. Sophie Neveu And Chicago Robert Langdon If this story was relocated to modern Chicago Robert Langdon would have been brought in for interrogation immediately. Rather than being summoned to a private seeing at the crime scene to be asked his opinion on the complicated message that Jacques Sauniere could have been portraying. Sophie Neveu wouldn t have been able to rescue Langdon from the crime scene. They would have to face major legal consequences, if she was able to. Since the Holy Grail quest required much traveling outside of the united states their traveling expenses would be through the roof. Possibly putting their whole journey on hold until further notice. In this book there is one point of view. Robert Langdon, Sophie Neveu, Silas, Bezu Fache, Bishop Aringarosa, and Teabing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (pg. 77) Tonight, her best guess was that Robert Langdon, whether he knew it or not, possessed information that she desperately needed. Princesse Sophie, Find Robert Langdon. How much clearer could her grandfather s message be? (pg. 78) The major conflict of the story is Sophie and Robert deciphering Jacques Sauniere s coded message. I would say that this conflict is character vs. nature. Sophie and Robert are trying to figure out a riddle that Jacques Sauniere left them before he died and is leading them on from beyond the grave. Sophie nodded, although she felt a second motivation still burning within her. The truth about my family. (pg. 294) Sophie s minor conflict was finding out the truth about her family. Before Jacques Sauniere was murdered he called Sophie and left a voicemail saying that he needed to tell her the truth about her family. This type of conflict is character vs. self and character vs. character. Sophie has to figure out her family secret that her grandfather has kept from her all these years. Because, she said, stepping toward him, Force s primary suspect in this murder is you. (pg. 65) I m being framed, Leigh, Langdon said, trying to stay calm. You know me. I wouldn t kill anyone. (pg. 263) Bezu Fache falsely accused Robert Langdon of murdering Jacques Sauniere and three others. This conflict is character vs. character and character vs. media. • 33. Relationship Between Intelligence And Creativity What is the relationship between intelligence and creativity? In this essay I will explore the correlation between intelligence (IQ) and creativity (DT), and whether one is influenced or can be predicted by the existence of the other. The relationship between IQ (intelligence quotient) and creativity has been an anchor point for psychological research. Numerous amounts of psychologists have carried out research in order to find evidence to support this idea of a correlation or evidence to disprove the hypothesis that IQ and creativity could be related. IQ is defined as a measure of intelligence that shows the ratio of an individual s mental age to their chronological age, this is then multiplied by 100 (Cattel 1972). Creativity cannot be measured by undertaking an IQ test, creativity is subjective and the simplest way of defining it is the ability to create original, useful and surprising new things. However, over the years pioneering research has inspired psychologists to devise tests to measure creativity. The most famous Divergent Thinking test is Guildfords Alternative Uses Task established in 1967. This test proposes that the individual involved should think of alternative uses for a common item such as a brick. This way of measuring Divergent Thinking is universally used in contemporary testing of creativity. In order to analyse and examine whether or not creativity and IQ have a relationship and whether its influential on each other, I looked at the founding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Compare and contrast the two main figures of the European... Napoleon s tragedy was that his ambitions surpassed his capacities; Bismarck s tragedy was that his capacities exceeded his society s ability to absorb them. The legacy Napoleon left for France was strategic paralysis; the legacy the Bismarck left for Germany was unassimilable greatness (statement made by Henry Kissinger) is in my opinion a correct statement. This statement can actually be separated into two parts. The first parts relates with the capacities, ambitions and successes of Bismarck and Napoleon. The second part is about the final result of their reign and how their reigns could be taken over after such changing of Europe. Bismarck main objective was to bring together the German states and to form a powerful great German ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He wanted to create division in Europe, therefore he created crisis here and there, but couldn t control the outcomes afterwards! Time and again, he would encourage a crisis now in Italy, now in Poland, later in Germany only to recoil before its ultimate consequence (P.107 Kissinger) or Napoleon made himself the prisoner of crisis he had himself engineered (P.107 Kissinger). Those crises would finally result in Italy and Germany as Unification and new difficulties for Napoleon to cope with. His foreign affaires always came out to be failures and to finally work against him. Napoleon destroyed by many ways all the other alliances that were made between France and other great powers, by supporting conflicts that wouldn t even benefit France. He supported the Italians in the war against Austria, this laid to Italian Unification which made one more power to deal with afterwards. He finally concluded an armistice with Austria ... without informing his Piedmontese allies (P.111 Kissinger), creating hatred among the Italians towards his country. Austria was considered by Napoleon as repugnant , therefore he wouldn t try to collaborate with them: As a Bonaparte, [Napoleon 3] never felt comfortable cooperating with Austria, whatever raison d etat might dictate (P.110 Kissinger). Napoleon lost the sympathy of Great Britain by annexing territory and by being repeatedly annoying. Napoleon alienated Great Britain by annexing Savoy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Professional Military Medical Development Professional military medical development is neither the outcome of a series of courses nor the product of a sequence of military assignments. It is a continual process of self assessment and development of common goals to achieve progressive outcomes. Reflecting on my experiences, I recall many influential instances in my medical career. In some cases, I did not realize the impact on my development as a leader until months, or even years later. I have had the opportunity in the military to develop a diverse range of career skills and work experience. Upon entering the military, I knew I had one goal, and that was to help Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airmen. After graduation from residency in 2010, I had many incredible opportunities ...
