Bill Of Right At The International Level
Bill of rights
The idea of a bill of right at the international level was conceived at the time of framing the charter of
the U.N.at the San Francisco conference in 1945, at which the organization was established. President
Truman of the US in his closing speech to the conference stated that under the charter we have good
reason to expect the framing of an international bill of rights, acceptable to all the nations involved.
That bill of rights will be as much part of international life as our own bill of rights is a part of our
constitution. (1) International bill of human rights consists of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF
HUMAN RIGHTS (UDHR), the international covenant on civil and political rights along with its
protocol and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also emphasized the need for international protection of human rights. The conscience of human
beings worldwide was shocked by Mussolini s fascist government of Italy, the Spanish civil war and
the Franco regime. The most significant formulation of this vision of a new international legal order
was the message to the US congress, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in January 1941 in which he
referred to the four freedoms : freedom of speech and expression, freedom of worship, freedom from
want and freedom from fear which were among the foundations upon which planning for the united
nation was started. In 1945 at the San Francisco Conference, where the UN Charter was finally
drafted, several actors contributed to the greater emphasis on human rights. Although the suggestion
of creating a commission on human rights was controversial among the great powers, the US finally
achieved its adoption. Thus, a commission on human rights was the only one explicitly mentioned in
the UN charter, and consequently, the human rights issue had got a flying start within the United
Nations. United nation was formally established on 24th October 1945.Human rights issue were
assigned to the economic and social council (ECOSOC), at the first session of which the nuclear
commission on human rights was set up. This commission met in April/May 1946 and made
recommendation on composition and terms of reference. These matters were finally decided by the
ECOSOC s second session, in which full

Liberal Democratic Party
Dating back to its establishment in 1955, the Liberal Democratic Party (L.D.P) had dominated Japan s
political scene. One of S.C.A.P s more noteworthy modifications to the old Japan was the shakeup of
political power to which the L.D.P had dominated for so many years. Allowing for not only more
diversity in terms of political parties, but also a better representation of what a functioning democratic
state embodies. While, as you can imagine, this liquidation of the L.D.P left all associated with the
party in a rather shaky state of mind. As this desired change was attempting to implemented, those
within the L.D.P circle began to get tighter and tighter. Even with this desired change, those within the
party prided themselves on the idea of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it might seem as if I m bias toward being American and the plethora of opportunities this
country has granted me with, we still have a long way to go in terms of gender equality, both
domestically and in Japan. While the level for women s representation and participation in politics
remain low in the United States, it remains substantially lower in that of Japanese politics. The
percentage of female members of the Lower House, the Upper House and local assemblies make up
only 7.4% and 14.6% respectively. This percentage of representation of women lags far behind that of
Japan s Western counterparts, and even ranks relatively low in comparison to the lowest groups of
European Union states. While trying to pinpoint one specific reason for such low numbers, Eto has
presented us with a handful of her personal opinions in her reading Women s movement in Japan: the
intersection between everyday life and politics revolving around the main points of emphasis on the
single member district electoral system and Japans socio cultural facilitators. As presented to us on
page 313, Eto states that a proportional representation system would allow more female candidates to
be elected than does a single member district system in which

The Simple Art Of Masquerade
The Simple Art of Masquerade Centuries ago, long before the thoughts of man were transcribed into
words, drawings were used to convey the thoughts and ideas, each telling a story like no other, with an
even greater discord between the accurate meanings of the story and meaning which the reader
garnered from the tale. Fast forward a few centuries to a time where stories were ultimately being
shared by word of mouth, altering a bit from the original thoughts and ideas of the author who
formerly spoke the tale. Traveling yet a few more centuries now to a time where stories are now
written and transcribed, not only by hand but also, finally, by printing press. This illustrious invention
paved the way for those who wished to share their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it is not only the authors portrayal of the characters that is important, but the interactions
amongst the characters themselves. It is within Raymond Chandler s The Big Sleep that he presents
each character through the eyes of Philip Marlowe, and is able to present who they are trying to be,
who they are, and the moral issues which arise in each. Chandler manipulates costumes and setting to
show who Carmen Sternwood s character is trying to be, who she really is and the moral issues
associated with each of these as seen through the eyes of Philip Marlowe. Since countless of the
characters throughout The Big Sleep do not show their true colors until the end of the book or
characters life, which the latter seems to be sooner than the former, the literary clues given by
Chandler to determine who they are trying to be as well as who they truly are is uniquely important.
She tries to portray herself as an innocent little girl, in order to woo Marlowe, but to no avail. For
example, in the first encounter with Philip Marlowe, she wore pale blue slacks, with the pale blue
color associated closely with that of a newborn baby, showing that her character is one that is trying to
give off a sense of childishness (5). Not only is she seen constantly giggling but she also uses
elementary words such as cute, furthering her agenda of trying to act like a little girl.

Conservative Judaism Vs Liberal Judaism
One basic belief of Judaism is the belief in one god who is responsible for the creation of the universe,
and who is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent. Another belief that Jews hold, which is
somewhat unique among monotheistic religions is the belief that god does not have a body. This
means god is neither male nor female, which can make god more relatable. Jews also strongly believe
that god listens to every person, and is interested in every person. Attached to this belief is the belief
that god speaks to humans, sometimes in ways one would not expect.
2. The religion of Judaism is not evangelizing religion and the bar to entry is significantly harder than
practically every other religion. Judaism does not seek to convert people ... Show more content on

I shall begin with the points of congruence (of which there are few). Both segments are unorganized,
and do not have a centralized religious authority at their core. In fact, the term orthodox is an umbrella
that encompasses many different orthodox movements within Judaism. Liberal Judaism shares this
lack of monolithic movement or philosophy, with all congregation being independent. This creates a
diversity within these two particular sects that is richer than in other strands of Judaism. Found within
both Orthodox Judaism and Liberal Judaism is a disapproval of interreligious marriage. Orthodox
Judaism is outspoken and very explicitly in opposition to interreligious marriage. While it takes a
more low key approach to the question, Liberal Judaism shares this view. As an example, Liberal
rabbis in the United Kingdom do not conduct mixed marriages. The final case of similarity between
Liberal Judaism and Orthodox Judaism is their mutual celebration of religious holidays. Those of the
Liberal Jewish persuasion observe the same Jewish festivals and celebration as Orthodox Jews. While
Liberal Judaism does stray from Orthodox Judaism in regards to theology and some liturgy it is
important to recognize that they celebrate the same holidays and retain many of the same rituals as

Evolution Fact Gould
In the Evolution as Fact and a Theory, Gould stated the differences between a fact and a theory and
gave examples that supported evolution. There are misunderstandings between a fact and a theory. A
fact and a theory are not in the same group of certainty and theories are used to explain facts.
Gould explains how Evolution is a theory and a fact. Evolution is a fact but how evolution happened is
a theory. Darwin s theory of natural selection as an example of how evolution happened. Creationists
deny evolution. Creationists believes in a supernatural creator of plants and animals. They believe that
science would never discover how the creator created creations. Gould believes that Scientific
creationism is a meaningless phrase because it s

The Second Movement Of Poignant Song
The second movement, Poignant song displays a new sensitive character. Husa describes the mood to
be tragic, with his inspiration from the movement being the sun setting. Like the growing ray of
vibrant tones and colors in a sunset, the movement features an additive process that develops from the
stagnant beginning. Husa achieves this effect through his treatment of interval classes in combination
with growing and shrinking dynamics. If the beginning and ending of the movement are meant to
represent the calmness before and after sunset, it is rational to consider their relationship to be the
transformational goal of the movement. Both plainly highlight interval class two, with the clarinetist
instructed to play the notes with as little sound and movement as possible. In comparison, the two
dyad figures are inversionally related, being flipped across pitch class 9.5 (Example 7). Throughout
the movements, the interval class two that defines the gentle beginnings and endings becomes a
pivotal marker melodically. The movement takes advantage of several tetrachords from the chromatic
collection (0123), however, when considering their orientations, the dyad relations become the most
contingent. This expansion of the hollow (02) dyad highlights the mirror effect Husa creates, by being
utilized as either a beginning or ending of a motive. Comparing the first instance in measure 4 and the
final in the second to last system, a noticeable connection is made. When a decay of

Three Basic Job Evaluation Methods
Job Evaluation Methods
There are three basic methods of job evaluation: (1) ranking, (2) classification, (3) factor comparison.
While many variations of these methods exist in practice, the three basic approaches are described
here.
Ranking Method
Perhaps the simplest method of job evaluation is the ranking method. According to this method, jobs
are arranged from highest to lowest, in order of their value or merit to the organization. Jobs also can
be arranged according to the relative difficulty in performing them. The jobs are examined as a whole
rather than on the basis of important factors in the job; and the job at the top of the list has the highest
value and obviously the job at the bottom of the list will have the lowest ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
Pay will be assigned in this method by comparing the weights of the factors required for each job, i.e.,
the present wages paid for key jobs may be divided among the factors weighed by importance (the
most important factor, for instance, mental effort, receives the highest weight). In other words, wages
are assigned to the job in comparison to its ranking on each job factor.
The steps involved in factor comparison method may be briefly stated thus:
Select key jobs (say 15 to 20), representing wage/salary levels across the organization. The selected
jobs must represent as many departments as possible.
Find the factors in terms of which the jobs are evaluated (such as skill, mental effort, responsibility,
physical effort, working conditions, etc.).
Rank the selected jobs under each factor (by each and every member of the job evaluation committee)
independently.
Assign money value to each factor and determine the wage rates for each key job.
The wage rate for a job is apportioned along the identified factors.
All other jobs are compared with the list of key jobs and wage rates are determined.
An example of how the factor comparison method works is given below:
Table: Merits and Demerits of Factor Comparison Method
Merits
Demerits
Analytical and objective.
Reliable and valid as each job is

Compare And Contrast Mesopotamia And Indus River Valley...
Ishaan Sarfani The two ancient river valley civilizations of Mesopotamia and the Indus River valley
civilization, prior to 600 BCE had many things that remained stagnant in terms of their cultures but
also they had just as many changes. Due to New advances and by influence from other civilizations
such as the Indus over Mesopotamia and vice versa this increased the amount of change a lot. As these
river valley civilizations grew and developed they began to gain influence from other surrounding
ones. In both societies religion played a crucial role in politics. Although there is no solid evidence to
state that there was a formal style of governance in the ancient Indus civilization it is theorized that
there was because of the mass amounts of public works that there are present which are found in the
ruins of their civilization. So it is believed that the Brahmins is had some role to play in government.
As the story goes in India there was a god named purusha who sacrificed himself in order to cease the
caste system. Purusha s mouth became the people of the top caste called the Brahmins. These people
were the priests. Next came the warriors known as Kshatriyas. They made up purusha s arms. This
system followed and continued as such all the way down to purushas legs where the artisans and
craftsman were. In Mesopotamia there was a similar system to that of the Indus civilization s the code
of Hammurabi which shows us a glimpse into the Mesopotamians version of the case

historical era of Folk, Country, Rock and Rock, and Blues protest genres.
Overall, practice was required to ensure the presentation of each musical piece showcased music
competencies from advanced to virtuoso. According to PMs, developing their music competencies has
been a lifelong journey they enjoyed and will continue to enjoy.
Emotional memories linked to repertoire. Beginning with the maestros of Western Classical music,
composers have intentionally written in modulating key scales, inversions, and tempos to evoke
imagery and emotions to motivate listeners (Bonds, 2006). Therefore, PMs were asked which
repertory affected them the most over their lifetime. Participants reported Western Classical repertoire
and 20th century genres not only evoked emotions and imagery, but also the event at the time of

Kenneth Grahame s The Wind in the Willows Essay
Kenneth Grahame s The Wind in the Willows
Kenneth Grahame s The Wind in the Willows is a satirical reflection of the English social structure of
the late nineteenth century, during a time of rapid industrialization throughout Europe. Also
considered a children s story, this novel conveys Grahame s belief in the ability of one to live an
unrestrained and leisurely life, free of the obligations of the working class, and entitled to this life
through high social status and wealth. The River Bank characters, especially Toad, represent those
who live this idle life of the upper class. In contrast, the stoats and weasels of the Wild Wood resemble
the proletariat, and an animosity between these two classes existed. The lower classes of the ... Show

It is these types of qualities that seem to define the character of Toad as more memorable than the
others are, and outline the typical image of those people from the upper class. His self centeredness is
blatantly displayed in the songs Toad sings to himself while returning home (117 and 121). His
ignorant and judgmental attitudes are recurring. To the lady kindly giving him a ride, after she
discovers his lies, he shouts, You common, low, fat barge woman! Don t you dare talk to your betters
like that! (112). He also thinks very lowly of the washerwoman in prison, who ironically saves his life
(84 5). He assumes a great many things and, perhaps innocently and unknowingly, insults people
whose opinions differ from his own, as is the case in speaking with Rat on page 16:
Now, you dear good old Ratty, said Toad imploringly, don t begin to talking in that stiff and sniffy sort
of way, because you know you ve got to come. I can t possibly manage without you, so please
consider it settled and don t argue it s the one thing I can t stand. You surely don t mean to stick to
your dull fusty old river all your life, and just live in a hole in a bank, and boat? I want to show you
the world! I m going to make an animal out of you, my boy!
These characteristics of Toad stand out to make him the most memorable because there is some
element of comic relief present while Toad remains oblivious to it himself, not

Drugs in United States
Drugs are a complex problem with widespread political, economic and social implications for
producing, transit, and consumer nations. In the area of foreign policy, political and economic
instability in drug producing areas around the world and particularly in Latin America is an epidemic
that cannot be ignored. The objective of this paper is to asses the past issues, current status, and future
prospects of the US war on drugs in Latin America specifically Panama. It begins with a brief

Drugs are a problem of epidemic proportions. They kill and destroy lives. In the 5 years leading up to
the trial of Manual Antonio Noriega, cocaine related deaths increased nationwide by 500 percent, and
heroin related deaths in the United States increased 64 percent[4]. Drugs are also a major cause of
infant fatalities and birth defects. A study of 95 children who died before the age of 5 shows that in
three quarters of those cases, at least one of the parent?s abuse drugs. In 1987, the New York?s Harlem
Hospital, one of the few hospitals in New York Sate to keep detailed figures declared that over 400
babies tested positive for drugs at birth[5]. In addition, it was estimated that in one day, 5,000
Americans will use cocaine or crack for the very first time and at least 20 million Americans have
already tried cocaine while at least 1 million Americans are addicts.
As a result of statistics such as those presented above, President Reagan declared a ?war on drugs? in
the early 1980?s. In 1983, Congress enacted the Rangel Gilman Hawkins amendment. This
amendment requires the State Department annually to report on the efforts of major drug exporting
countries. In theory, these reports would act to curtail production. If a country fails to make reasonable
efforts at curtailment, the sanction is the loss of economic aid. In March of 1988, the State Department
reported to the President as the act required, however, the report only recommended three

The Spice Girls At the height of the Spice Girl s fame, the Spice Girls sold 85 million records and

Analyse Rembrandt Self Identity
I think that a work that Rembrandt painted to satisfy an inner need is Self Portrait with Two Circles,
from 1666 1669. It is unlike some of his other self portraits or face studies because it really represents
how he saw himself in relation to painting. In his face studies where he uses himself as a model he is
not trying to represent himself to others although he does play with light and composition. In his
formal self portraits he is shown with garments and jewelry that elevate his status.
His earlier self portraits from 1636 38 and 1640 show emphasis on his gold chain and the luxury of the
fabric of his hat and clothes. He is youthful, only slight wrinkles and no grey hairs. They contrast to
his Artist in His Studio, 1627 28 an early work ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He presents himself in costume, with a painters stick and hat. His older age is shown in his wrinkles
and greying hair. Rembrandt is still showing dominance of painting with his stance and fantastical
costume, as though he is a deity of painting. However, in his Self Portrait with two Circles there is a
change in how he represents himself to the viewer and the relationship he has with painting has also
changed. There is more light showing his grey hair and the extravagance of his clothes and jewelry has
diminished. Although, he is still wearing a gold chain it is not given the same attention as his chains in
his earlier portraits. He is wearing a basic painters hat and smock with brushes and palette in his left
hand. His identity has moved from master to servant of the art of painting. Rembrandt is no longer
hiding behind shadow and objects. I think that Rembrandt had always tried to paint his relationship
with painting but in this last self portrait he is able to surrender to his ego as an artist. He goal was to
simply paint himself, similarly to The Artist in His Studio. This work satisfies his inner need to
represent himself and the act of painting. He has been able to do that without creating a tailored and

Genetically Modified Organisms And Its Effect On The Consumer
For soy and sugar beet [crops], in 2013 genetically modified varieties represented over 90% of the
total [of American soybean and sugarbeet crops]; for maize and cotton it was exactly 90%. Genetically
modified organisms, or commonly abbreviated GMOs, are plants that have had their DNA genetically
altered to create amicable, or abolish undesirable traits. As previously said in the statistic sourced from
gmo compass.org, GMOs are dominant to their counter product, organic foods. On the topic, many
effects are produced from GMOs, not only health effects upon the consumer, but economic effects,
and inflated population rates. Elaborating upon the the economic, as well as population effect, GMOs
are modified to have a higher production rate per plant, making them cheaper to produce, and
inevitably cheaper in market stocks. Populations tend to increase dramatically from a higher food
supply accommodating the demands for a constant flow of food, and expansion of that flow.
Alternatively, many concerns come from the beneficiary health and risks that accompany manipulated
organisms. Two key consternations derive from allergies developed from GMOs, and linkage to
disease in humans. Other external arguments concur with the controversy of adjusted genes. Examples
of this is questioning the morality of permuting natural substances for the selfishness of mankind, as
well as the destruction of biodiversity. Theoretically, with support from a variety of different sources,

Ramzi Yousef s Terrorism Goes Global
Introduction
When the term Terrorist is the topic of conversation in businesses or social gatherings, images of
individuals wearing mask or head gear come to mind. However, todays terrorist is hard to pinpoint
because of their ambiguous character/feature. Unlike traditionally armed, and uniformed soldiers,
terrorists may be any person representing any country around the world. Once considered uneducated,
cladded middle eastern attire, or a rogue demeanor depicted by a lack of grooming standards. Most
Americans view middle easterners involved in terrorist activities to look like Osama Bin Laden or
somewhat similar.
One coincidental and sure fact that is known about terrorism, is that it has in fact gone global .

Ramzi Yousef found no satisfaction in his successful assault on the WTC, he wanted to send the
message early on that he could reach his reign of terror to as Far East as the United States and its allies
reached. Unfortunately, next on his hit list was Manila, plotting another airline disaster, and by doing
so, Ramzi Yousef was no longer a local terrorist, but acquired the status of an international terrorist.
To exacerbate matters, Ramzi Yousef was captured and arrested in Pakistan in 1995, yet planning
more terror attacks targeting Asia. Paul Pillar s article, points out several key elements and what
characterized Yousef and the team that carried out the successful attack in 1993. First, he identified all
members of the WTC attack as unaffiliated to any known terrorist group. Each came together for one
purpose, and all had the freedom to travel from one point to another undetected. Additionally, a
vulnerability on passport checks at international borders was clearly established and identified that

is because of these things that I will carry a strategy audit of Venice Golf and Country Club. In my
audit I will analyze the club value position, market position, competitive advantage, external
environmental scan, the five forces facing the club, internal environmental assessments, and SWOT
analysis and strategy scorecard. By carrying out all the aforementioned analysis, I will be able to
identify some of the strategic issues facing the club and recommend some of the ways to tackle these
issues. In developing the recommendations for addressing each of the strategic issues, I will look at
the club product portfolio, structure, culture, value chain as well as the performance measures.

According Vermeulen, most new strategies are implemented. One of the chief reason for lack of
implementation of these strategies is that new strategies are usually not strategies at all. A real strategy
involves a clear set of choices which define what the organization is going to execute and those which
isn t going to execute. Therefore, most strategies are never put into actions despite the ample efforts of
hard working individuals since they doesn t represent a set of clear choices (Vermeulen, 2017). To
improve your strategy you must ensure that there is a clear communication of the strategy to the
implementers who are the employees as well as all the people in the enterprise. Communicating your
logic will be very important in answering some of the why questions that your employees have.
Answering such questions will help in persuading the employees that the new strategy is valuable. For
effectiveness of the strategy, it should be issued from the top down and supported from the bottom up.
This means that lower level workers must be empowered so that they can think of their own initiatives

One Benin girl stood at the shinny bared glass window looking out at the luscious green trees and
bright grass. She itched and itched and itched, all the while looking out at what she could not have.
The doctor came in saying, I m sorry but you just can t go outside. With your Buruli Ulcer case, you
could die within minutes by an infection. There was nothing she could say, so she just nodded. His
footsteps echoed as he walked out of her stainless white room, with a sullen expression on his face.
She knew that he just wanted to help her but every time she heard those footsteps it crushed her heart
because there was always bad news. With her arms bare of skin she sat down on the bed and lay ...

One hypothesis is that since it is so easy to transmit to animals this may be why so many people have
gotten BU.
Even though BU has been reported in 33 countries there are only 15 that have been documented as
having a significant amount of cases. In those 15 countries there have been between 5,000 6,000
reported/documented cases of BU (Mycobacterium, www.who.int). Most patients, with this disease,
are younger than 15 years old (Buruli Ulcer, Nigeria). In Benin over half of the BU patients are
children.
There are so many poor families in Benin, and that makes it hard for them to take their children to
hospitals, which is why a lot of the patients that go to the hospitals have already had the disease for 2
4 months (Small). If the patient was caught in the early stages of the disease then about 80% of those
patients could be cured by a combination of antibiotics (Mycobacterium, www.who.int). For poor
families it isn t only that they may not have insurance but it is also the traveling that is an issue. In

more preventative care would occur, and thus cut down on the expensive costs that occur when a

Posada
Mexico celebrates christmas from Dec. 12th to Jan. 6th. From the 16th to christmas eve some of the
children perform a reenactment called the Posada . If you didn t know Posada is Spanish for Lodging
or Inn. They have nine Posadas. When they get into the Posadas they decorate with moss, evergreens,
and paper lanterns. Each Posada children get a board and candles. They have them to hold painted
figures of Mary and Joseph riding on a donkey. They go down the streets and sing songs to each
home. The song they sing when they go to the houses is about mary and joseph asking for a room in
the Posada. The children are told that there is now room so they must go away. Soon after they are told
there is room so they are welcomed in. Once they enter they say prayers and celebrate by having a
party with food, games and fireworks. Each night a different house holds the Posada party. On the last
night of Posadas there is a whole bunch shepherds on a board. When the posada is done there is a
figure of baby jesus in a manger on the board and then there is a church service. After the church ...

A piñata is a decorated clay or papier mùché jar filled with sweets and hung from the ceiling or tree
branch. The piñata is often decorated like a ball with seven peaks around it. The spikes represent the
seven deadly sins . Piñata s can also be in the form of an animal or bird.To play the game, children are
blindfolded and take turns to hit the piñata with a stick until it splits open and the sweets pour out.
Then the children rush to pick up as many sweets as they can! As well as the posada s, another type of

Promiscuity In Sula
Steve Maraboli wrote, Incredible change happens in your life when you decide to take control of what
you do have power over, instead of craving control over what you don t. While perceptions towards
female sexuality have become more and more liberal over time, they still tend towards an expediently
bigoted dynamic in which women are only encouraged to be sexual to an extent. The idea of women
being self confident, even single minded, in cultivating rousing sex lives is still often looked upon as
immoral and impure. In Toni Morrisson s novel Sula, not only is female sexuality lopsidedly
categorized, it is seen as worthy for castigation. Missing from the main conceptualization is the blunt
acknowledgement that female promiscuity can be empowering. A woman can derive power from her
sexuality. By realizing what she s been gifted with, she can gain her freedom. Sexual empowerment
for her involves recognition of her sexual being, embracing that power, and exhibiting it confidently
without fear of disrepute. By embracing the body she is born into, understanding the power it wields,
and displaying total command in making choices regarding her body, she holds the power to not be
castigated for craving and loving sex. Neither is she belittled with abusive words for not keeping her
body as a holy shrine, allowing only one man entry. A sexually assured woman, conscious of her own
desires, and confident in her allure can claim sex solely on her own terms.

Al Qaeda, or Al Qaida, is a global militant Islamist organization. It was agreed upon as a terrorist

On May 2, 2011, bin Laden was shot and killed by Navy SEALs of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare
Development Group. After the body of Bin Laden was ctaken to Afghanistan for identification, it was
buried at sea. Al Qaeda confirmed the death of bin Laden on May 6th and vowed to seek revenge
against the United States. Ayman al Zawahiri, former Deputy Operations Chief of Al Qaeda, took the
role of commander of Al Qaeda in place of bin Laden.
Al Qaeda is most known for their terrorist attacks. They have had six major attacks and four of them
were towards America to seek revenge. The first terrorist attack was on December 29, 1992. They
detonated two bombs in Aden, Yemen at the Movenpick Hotel and Goldmohur Hotel in hope of
eliminating the American soldiers that were on their way to Somalia. Fortunately, no Americans were
killed but some were injured.
In 1993 there was an attack on the World Trade Center in New York City. There was a truck bomb and
the plan was to break the foundation of one of the towers so that it will fall onto tower two, bringing
the entire complex down, and in hope that it would kill about 250,000 people. The towers shook and
swayed but only killed six people and injured 1,042 others. After the attack, Ramzi Yousef, the one
behind the attack, fled to Pakistan and moved to Manila, Philippines. He also developed plans to
destroy and cause trouble to a dozen other American airlines, to assassinate Pope John

Does Memory Decline With Age
Does Memory Decline with Age Once you reach a certain point in your life how do you just forgot? Is
there a certain point in your life where your memory is affected? The common question going around
is does your memory decline with age. One reason this is important because it will affect all of us. We
will all get old and this can greatly affect our health. The research can show how our older age will
affect our memory. Human memory loss is an effect that we all will have to deal with. Numerous
studies show age related decline in episodic memory. (Naveh Benjamin and Kilb, 2014) The initial
research done has shown that indeed your memory will decrease. There are many reasoning for why
this happens but one of the main points refers to associative memory. One of the explanations for ...

Selective memory retrieval is research to try and recall events that occurred in your past life. In their
studies, they used sixty four participants between the age of (20 35) for the younger generation and for
the 64 participants their age was over sixty. They then proceeded to show each group certain images to
remember. Both groups showed a very poor retrieval to the images portrayed. For the most part, this
initial test between the young and older ages was unsuccessful. Since, this experiment didn t go as
planned they came up with a new process. That process being to have a much wider group is
participants. Having the participants between the age of (40 85) drastically changed the results of the
experiment. Critically, the size of the beneficial but now the detrimental effect of retrieval decreased
with age and this age related decline was mediated by individuals working memory capacity, as
measured by the complex operation span task. (Aslan, A., Schlichting, A., John, T., Bauml, K. T.,
2015) In this study it showed that there was an early decline in the older generation memory compared

Utility Vs. Income Inequality Analysis
This paper tries to make a contribution by addressing the subjective well being to be a more
comprehensive measure of quality of life rather than income. The SWL and its standard deviation
make this comparison illuminating with a significant negative correlation shown by all the surveys
used in the paper. As a result, it is expected that whatever negative linkage there may be between
income inequality and life evaluations should be stronger for well being inequality. this paper is
providing three sorts of evidence that supports this hypothesis. The choice of satisfaction with life as
an indicator of well being is a wise choice. Another possibility could be happiness, which has emerged
as an alternative indicator of well being. While it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In each case, tests are also repeated controlling for a number of other possibly confounding variables.
The finding is a consistently negative relation between well being inequality and the average reported
level of well being. In all cases the negative relation is stronger than that for income inequality. The
thing that was not really clear to me was why SWL utility function is chosen to be cardinal in the
models since from most branches of economics, the concept of cardinal utility has been eliminated as
redundant because ordinal utility has been found to suffice for doing the job. It would have been better
if the authors explained that Cardinal utility has been kept only in welfare economics to support the
demand for a more equal income distribution. The authors also consider the likely risks that well being
inequality in the regions or countries with higher level of well being may be estimated with a
downward bias. The resulting reduction in the magnitude of estimated coefficients could be best seen
as an upper bound on the part of the correlation that can be ascribed to a mechanical result of how
SWL is reported. However, It is not fully described why they did not use both of the two different
distributions Normal and Logistic in each cluster for the regressions in which they mentioned in the
paper to better compare the

Analysis Of Paris Is Burning
COMPARISON OF PARIS IS BURNING AND HOW TO SURVIVE A PLAGUE
Ava Morrow
History 3220
The United States in the 20th Century
November 13, 2017 Beginning in the mid 1980 s, a number of efforts were initiated to bring
awareness and enlightenment to the actual tragedy of AIDS. Two films that evolved out of these
awareness campaigns were the documentaries Paris Is Burning and How to Survive a Plague . Both
films, although in significantly diverse ways, provide a window into the alternative lifestyles of LGBT
people of the times and the problems and issues they faced. A comparison of these two documentaries
demonstrates the initial fears of the public and affected people and the beginnings of acceptance or at
least tolerance of these alternative lifestyles.
The movie Paris Is Burning is a documentary film exploring race, gender, and sexuality within the
African American and Latino gay and transgender communities of the ball culture of New York in the
mid to late 1980 s. Ball culture is a term used to describe the underground sub culture of LGBT people
who walk or compete for trophies in events known as balls. The film chronicles the ostentatiously
arranged competitions in which participants, within a very specific theme, must walk while being
judged on criteria such as the authenticity and beauty of their apparel and their dancing ability. Much
of the film shows footage of actual balls interspersed with interviews of prominent members of this
drag scene. The film shows people of different gender identities and their varied methods of
expressing themselves while also exploring how they cope with racism, AIDS, poverty, and
homophobia.
How to Survive a Plague is a documentary movie which depicts the early years of the AIDS epidemic
and the efforts of ACT UP and other groups. ACT UP, founded in March 1987, is an advocacy group
which supports legislation and medical research and treatment of AIDS victims. The film used
archived footage of news coverage, interviews, protests, meetings, and conferences to chronicle the
struggles of AIDS activists from the start of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in New York City. It focused on
the efforts of these activists to obtain meaningful responses from medical

The Emotions And Attitudes Of Older Adults
Design
The research question focuses on the emotions and attitudes of older adults residing within a CCRC;
therefore, a qualitative descriptive design was chosen for this study. Qualitative descriptive research
supports the researcher remaining close to the words people use to describe their event or situation
(Sandelowski, 2000). Focus groups will be the method used to answer the question, What are the
emotions and attitudes that prevent residents in a CCRC from accepting the guidance of professional
staff in regard to transitioning to a higher level of care or receiving assistance in their home? Focus
groups, by design, support hearing from a group of people with a specific focus, interest, or
characteristics, and will provide data of a qualitative nature to support answering the question of
interest (Krueger, 1988). The participants will state what their attitudes and thoughts are when facing
the possibility of accepting assistance in their apartment or transitioning to a higher level of care such
as AL or NC. Additionally participants also address what the barriers are through open ended
questions.
Two focus groups will be conducted, with openness to initiating a third and fourth focus group if
needed based upon the information generated in the first two focus groups. The first two groups
generally provide new information, but by the third focus group, there may be redundancy, therefore
eliminating the need for a fourth group (Krueger, 1988). A series of open ended

because it could take sessions before I get all the answers I should be able to help a client, but I may

There is also an unmatched level of speed and versatility when operating the MAGNETOM (
Magnetom espree , 2013).
When making a purchase to improve on many areas of operations there are always factors to take into
consideration. There will be a great amount of capital expenditure for this equipment; however the
potential for higher return on investment is remarkable. The initial cost of purchasing the
MAGNETOM is approximately $ 1 million. There will be an additional cost of $500,000 to operate
and maintain the machine. These costs will be reimbursed within the first eight months of extensive
utilization if the all marketing for the machine is on point. Since we are currently paying a technician
to operate our out of date machinery, there is no reason why this prediction cannot become reality.
There will also be an offset of income inherited by the lack of errors made by the technicians after
they have trained for the new machine . ( Magnetom espree , 2013)
Some other factors of operation to look at are scan times. There will be a significant amount of time
saved when using this new piece of technology. As we know, time is money in any business and the
amount of time saved will be viable in contributing to more income in other departments. Another
point to look at is the enhanced imaging quality. So many times we are losing time and money on poor

Arguement For Animal Cruelty

commit animal cruelty. There are currently laws that prohibit animal cruelty, some of them being fins,
and some face jail time. There are many people that do get punished at all for committing even the
worst of animal cruelty. My proposal would be that everyone would get punished based on the crime.
Most animal suffering is unrecognized. The punishment should be just like a person would get
punished if they committed the same crime against another person. I am also a nurse, and have worked
in a public health department where I saw a lot of parents that did not vaccinate their child because of
one reason or another. I would make it a law that

  • 2. Bill Of Right At The International Level Bill of rights The idea of a bill of right at the international level was conceived at the time of framing the charter of the U.N.at the San Francisco conference in 1945, at which the organization was established. President Truman of the US in his closing speech to the conference stated that under the charter we have good reason to expect the framing of an international bill of rights, acceptable to all the nations involved. That bill of rights will be as much part of international life as our own bill of rights is a part of our constitution. (1) International bill of human rights consists of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS (UDHR), the international covenant on civil and political rights along with its protocol and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It also emphasized the need for international protection of human rights. The conscience of human beings worldwide was shocked by Mussolini s fascist government of Italy, the Spanish civil war and the Franco regime. The most significant formulation of this vision of a new international legal order was the message to the US congress, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in January 1941 in which he referred to the four freedoms : freedom of speech and expression, freedom of worship, freedom from want and freedom from fear which were among the foundations upon which planning for the united nation was started. In 1945 at the San Francisco Conference, where the UN Charter was finally drafted, several actors contributed to the greater emphasis on human rights. Although the suggestion of creating a commission on human rights was controversial among the great powers, the US finally achieved its adoption. Thus, a commission on human rights was the only one explicitly mentioned in the UN charter, and consequently, the human rights issue had got a flying start within the United Nations. United nation was formally established on 24th October 1945.Human rights issue were assigned to the economic and social council (ECOSOC), at the first session of which the nuclear commission on human rights was set up. This commission met in April/May 1946 and made recommendation on composition and terms of reference. These matters were finally decided by the ECOSOC s second session, in which full ... • 3. Liberal Democratic Party Dating back to its establishment in 1955, the Liberal Democratic Party (L.D.P) had dominated Japan s political scene. One of S.C.A.P s more noteworthy modifications to the old Japan was the shakeup of political power to which the L.D.P had dominated for so many years. Allowing for not only more diversity in terms of political parties, but also a better representation of what a functioning democratic state embodies. While, as you can imagine, this liquidation of the L.D.P left all associated with the party in a rather shaky state of mind. As this desired change was attempting to implemented, those within the L.D.P circle began to get tighter and tighter. Even with this desired change, those within the party prided themselves on the idea of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While it might seem as if I m bias toward being American and the plethora of opportunities this country has granted me with, we still have a long way to go in terms of gender equality, both domestically and in Japan. While the level for women s representation and participation in politics remain low in the United States, it remains substantially lower in that of Japanese politics. The percentage of female members of the Lower House, the Upper House and local assemblies make up only 7.4% and 14.6% respectively. This percentage of representation of women lags far behind that of Japan s Western counterparts, and even ranks relatively low in comparison to the lowest groups of European Union states. While trying to pinpoint one specific reason for such low numbers, Eto has presented us with a handful of her personal opinions in her reading Women s movement in Japan: the intersection between everyday life and politics revolving around the main points of emphasis on the single member district electoral system and Japans socio cultural facilitators. As presented to us on page 313, Eto states that a proportional representation system would allow more female candidates to be elected than does a single member district system in which ... • 4. The Simple Art Of Masquerade The Simple Art of Masquerade Centuries ago, long before the thoughts of man were transcribed into words, drawings were used to convey the thoughts and ideas, each telling a story like no other, with an even greater discord between the accurate meanings of the story and meaning which the reader garnered from the tale. Fast forward a few centuries to a time where stories were ultimately being shared by word of mouth, altering a bit from the original thoughts and ideas of the author who formerly spoke the tale. Traveling yet a few more centuries now to a time where stories are now written and transcribed, not only by hand but also, finally, by printing press. This illustrious invention paved the way for those who wished to share their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, it is not only the authors portrayal of the characters that is important, but the interactions amongst the characters themselves. It is within Raymond Chandler s The Big Sleep that he presents each character through the eyes of Philip Marlowe, and is able to present who they are trying to be, who they are, and the moral issues which arise in each. Chandler manipulates costumes and setting to show who Carmen Sternwood s character is trying to be, who she really is and the moral issues associated with each of these as seen through the eyes of Philip Marlowe. Since countless of the characters throughout The Big Sleep do not show their true colors until the end of the book or characters life, which the latter seems to be sooner than the former, the literary clues given by Chandler to determine who they are trying to be as well as who they truly are is uniquely important. She tries to portray herself as an innocent little girl, in order to woo Marlowe, but to no avail. For example, in the first encounter with Philip Marlowe, she wore pale blue slacks, with the pale blue color associated closely with that of a newborn baby, showing that her character is one that is trying to give off a sense of childishness (5). Not only is she seen constantly giggling but she also uses elementary words such as cute, furthering her agenda of trying to act like a little girl. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Conservative Judaism Vs Liberal Judaism One basic belief of Judaism is the belief in one god who is responsible for the creation of the universe, and who is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent. Another belief that Jews hold, which is somewhat unique among monotheistic religions is the belief that god does not have a body. This means god is neither male nor female, which can make god more relatable. Jews also strongly believe that god listens to every person, and is interested in every person. Attached to this belief is the belief that god speaks to humans, sometimes in ways one would not expect. 2. The religion of Judaism is not evangelizing religion and the bar to entry is significantly harder than practically every other religion. Judaism does not seek to convert people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I shall begin with the points of congruence (of which there are few). Both segments are unorganized, and do not have a centralized religious authority at their core. In fact, the term orthodox is an umbrella that encompasses many different orthodox movements within Judaism. Liberal Judaism shares this lack of monolithic movement or philosophy, with all congregation being independent. This creates a diversity within these two particular sects that is richer than in other strands of Judaism. Found within both Orthodox Judaism and Liberal Judaism is a disapproval of interreligious marriage. Orthodox Judaism is outspoken and very explicitly in opposition to interreligious marriage. While it takes a more low key approach to the question, Liberal Judaism shares this view. As an example, Liberal rabbis in the United Kingdom do not conduct mixed marriages. The final case of similarity between Liberal Judaism and Orthodox Judaism is their mutual celebration of religious holidays. Those of the Liberal Jewish persuasion observe the same Jewish festivals and celebration as Orthodox Jews. While Liberal Judaism does stray from Orthodox Judaism in regards to theology and some liturgy it is important to recognize that they celebrate the same holidays and retain many of the same rituals as ... There are misunderstandings between a fact and a theory. A fact and a theory are not in the same group of certainty and theories are used to explain facts. Gould explains how Evolution is a theory and a fact. Evolution is a fact but how evolution happened is a theory. Darwin s theory of natural selection as an example of how evolution happened. Creationists deny evolution. Creationists believes in a supernatural creator of plants and animals. They believe that science would never discover how the creator created creations. • 7. The Second Movement Of Poignant Song The second movement, Poignant song displays a new sensitive character. Husa describes the mood to be tragic, with his inspiration from the movement being the sun setting. Like the growing ray of vibrant tones and colors in a sunset, the movement features an additive process that develops from the stagnant beginning. Husa achieves this effect through his treatment of interval classes in combination with growing and shrinking dynamics. If the beginning and ending of the movement are meant to represent the calmness before and after sunset, it is rational to consider their relationship to be the transformational goal of the movement. Both plainly highlight interval class two, with the clarinetist instructed to play the notes with as little sound and movement as possible. In comparison, the two dyad figures are inversionally related, being flipped across pitch class 9.5 (Example 7). Throughout the movements, the interval class two that defines the gentle beginnings and endings becomes a pivotal marker melodically. The movement takes advantage of several tetrachords from the chromatic collection (0123), however, when considering their orientations, the dyad relations become the most contingent. This expansion of the hollow (02) dyad highlights the mirror effect Husa creates, by being utilized as either a beginning or ending of a motive. Comparing the first instance in measure 4 and the final in the second to last system, a noticeable connection is made. When a decay of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Three Basic Job Evaluation Methods Job Evaluation Methods There are three basic methods of job evaluation: (1) ranking, (2) classification, (3) factor comparison. While many variations of these methods exist in practice, the three basic approaches are described here. Ranking Method Perhaps the simplest method of job evaluation is the ranking method. According to this method, jobs are arranged from highest to lowest, in order of their value or merit to the organization. Jobs also can be arranged according to the relative difficulty in performing them. The jobs are examined as a whole rather than on the basis of important factors in the job; and the job at the top of the list has the highest value and obviously the job at the bottom of the list will have the lowest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pay will be assigned in this method by comparing the weights of the factors required for each job, i.e., the present wages paid for key jobs may be divided among the factors weighed by importance (the most important factor, for instance, mental effort, receives the highest weight). In other words, wages are assigned to the job in comparison to its ranking on each job factor. The steps involved in factor comparison method may be briefly stated thus: Select key jobs (say 15 to 20), representing wage/salary levels across the organization. The selected jobs must represent as many departments as possible. Find the factors in terms of which the jobs are evaluated (such as skill, mental effort, responsibility, physical effort, working conditions, etc.). Rank the selected jobs under each factor (by each and every member of the job evaluation committee) independently. Assign money value to each factor and determine the wage rates for each key job. The wage rate for a job is apportioned along the identified factors. All other jobs are compared with the list of key jobs and wage rates are determined. An example of how the factor comparison method works is given below: Table: Merits and Demerits of Factor Comparison Method

  • 10. Compare And Contrast Mesopotamia And Indus River Valley... Ishaan Sarfani The two ancient river valley civilizations of Mesopotamia and the Indus River valley civilization, prior to 600 BCE had many things that remained stagnant in terms of their cultures but also they had just as many changes. Due to New advances and by influence from other civilizations such as the Indus over Mesopotamia and vice versa this increased the amount of change a lot. As these river valley civilizations grew and developed they began to gain influence from other surrounding ones. In both societies religion played a crucial role in politics. Although there is no solid evidence to state that there was a formal style of governance in the ancient Indus civilization it is theorized that there was because of the mass amounts of public works that there are present which are found in the ruins of their civilization. So it is believed that the Brahmins is had some role to play in government. As the story goes in India there was a god named purusha who sacrificed himself in order to cease the caste system. Purusha s mouth became the people of the top caste called the Brahmins. These people were the priests. Next came the warriors known as Kshatriyas. They made up purusha s arms. This system followed and continued as such all the way down to purushas legs where the artisans and craftsman were. In Mesopotamia there was a similar system to that of the Indus civilization s the code of Hammurabi which shows us a glimpse into the Mesopotamians version of the case ... • 12. Kenneth Grahame s The Wind in the Willows Essay Kenneth Grahame s The Wind in the Willows Kenneth Grahame s The Wind in the Willows is a satirical reflection of the English social structure of the late nineteenth century, during a time of rapid industrialization throughout Europe. Also considered a children s story, this novel conveys Grahame s belief in the ability of one to live an unrestrained and leisurely life, free of the obligations of the working class, and entitled to this life through high social status and wealth. The River Bank characters, especially Toad, represent those who live this idle life of the upper class. In contrast, the stoats and weasels of the Wild Wood resemble the proletariat, and an animosity between these two classes existed. The lower classes of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is these types of qualities that seem to define the character of Toad as more memorable than the others are, and outline the typical image of those people from the upper class. His self centeredness is blatantly displayed in the songs Toad sings to himself while returning home (117 and 121). His ignorant and judgmental attitudes are recurring. To the lady kindly giving him a ride, after she discovers his lies, he shouts, You common, low, fat barge woman! Don t you dare talk to your betters like that! (112). He also thinks very lowly of the washerwoman in prison, who ironically saves his life (84 5). He assumes a great many things and, perhaps innocently and unknowingly, insults people whose opinions differ from his own, as is the case in speaking with Rat on page 16: Now, you dear good old Ratty, said Toad imploringly, don t begin to talking in that stiff and sniffy sort of way, because you know you ve got to come. I can t possibly manage without you, so please consider it settled and don t argue it s the one thing I can t stand. You surely don t mean to stick to your dull fusty old river all your life, and just live in a hole in a bank, and boat? I want to show you the world! I m going to make an animal out of you, my boy! These characteristics of Toad stand out to make him the most memorable because there is some element of comic relief present while Toad remains oblivious to it himself, not ... In the 5 years leading up to the trial of Manual Antonio Noriega, cocaine related deaths increased nationwide by 500 percent, and heroin related deaths in the United States increased 64 percent[4]. Drugs are also a major cause of infant fatalities and birth defects. A study of 95 children who died before the age of 5 shows that in three quarters of those cases, at least one of the parent?s abuse drugs. In 1987, the New York?s Harlem Hospital, one of the few hospitals in New York Sate to keep detailed figures declared that over 400 babies tested positive for drugs at birth[5]. In addition, it was estimated that in one day, 5,000 Americans will use cocaine or crack for the very first time and at least 20 million Americans have already tried cocaine while at least 1 million Americans are addicts. As a result of statistics such as those presented above, President Reagan declared a ?war on drugs? in the early 1980?s. In 1983, Congress enacted the Rangel Gilman Hawkins amendment. This amendment requires the State Department annually to report on the efforts of major drug exporting countries. In theory, these reports would act to curtail production. • 17. Analyse Rembrandt Self Identity I think that a work that Rembrandt painted to satisfy an inner need is Self Portrait with Two Circles, from 1666 1669. It is unlike some of his other self portraits or face studies because it really represents how he saw himself in relation to painting. In his face studies where he uses himself as a model he is not trying to represent himself to others although he does play with light and composition. In his formal self portraits he is shown with garments and jewelry that elevate his status. His earlier self portraits from 1636 38 and 1640 show emphasis on his gold chain and the luxury of the fabric of his hat and clothes. He is youthful, only slight wrinkles and no grey hairs. There is more light showing his grey hair and the extravagance of his clothes and jewelry has diminished. Although, he is still wearing a gold chain it is not given the same attention as his chains in his earlier portraits. He is wearing a basic painters hat and smock with brushes and palette in his left hand. His identity has moved from master to servant of the art of painting. Rembrandt is no longer hiding behind shadow and objects. I think that Rembrandt had always tried to paint his relationship with painting but in this last self portrait he is able to surrender to his ego as an artist. Genetically modified organisms, or commonly abbreviated GMOs, are plants that have had their DNA genetically altered to create amicable, or abolish undesirable traits. As previously said in the statistic sourced from gmo compass.org, GMOs are dominant to their counter product, organic foods. On the topic, many effects are produced from GMOs, not only health effects upon the consumer, but economic effects, and inflated population rates. Elaborating upon the the economic, as well as population effect, GMOs are modified to have a higher production rate per plant, making them cheaper to produce, and inevitably cheaper in market stocks. Populations tend to increase dramatically from a higher food supply accommodating the demands for a constant flow of food, and expansion of that flow. Alternatively, many concerns come from the beneficiary health and risks that accompany manipulated organisms. Two key consternations derive from allergies developed from GMOs, and linkage to disease in humans. Other external arguments concur with the controversy of adjusted genes. Examples of this is questioning the morality of permuting natural substances for the selfishness of mankind, as well as the destruction of biodiversity. Therefore, most strategies are never put into actions despite the ample efforts of hard working individuals since they doesn t represent a set of clear choices (Vermeulen, 2017). Promiscuity In Sula Steve Maraboli wrote, Incredible change happens in your life when you decide to take control of what you do have power over, instead of craving control over what you don t. While perceptions towards female sexuality have become more and more liberal over time, they still tend towards an expediently bigoted dynamic in which women are only encouraged to be sexual to an extent. The idea of women being self confident, even single minded, in cultivating rousing sex lives is still often looked upon as immoral and impure. In Toni Morrisson s novel Sula, not only is female sexuality lopsidedly categorized, it is seen as worthy for castigation. Missing from the main conceptualization is the blunt acknowledgement that female promiscuity can be empowering. A woman can derive power from her sexuality. By realizing what she s been gifted with, she can gain her freedom. Sexual empowerment for her involves recognition of her sexual being, embracing that power, and exhibiting it confidently without fear of disrepute. By embracing the body she is born into, understanding the power it wields, and displaying total command in making choices regarding her body, she holds the power to not be castigated for craving and loving sex. Neither is she belittled with abusive words for not keeping her body as a holy shrine, allowing only one man entry. A sexually assured woman, conscious of her own desires, and confident in her allure can claim sex solely on her own terms. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The finding is a consistently negative relation between well being inequality and the average reported level of well being. The thing that was not really clear to me was why SWL utility function is chosen to be cardinal in the models since from most branches of economics, the concept of cardinal utility has been eliminated as redundant because ordinal utility has been found to suffice for doing the job. It would have been better if the authors explained that Cardinal utility has been kept only in welfare economics to support the demand for a more equal income distribution. The authors also consider the likely risks that well being inequality in the regions or countries with higher level of well being may be estimated with a downward bias. The resulting reduction in the magnitude of estimated coefficients could be best seen as an upper bound on the part of the correlation that can be ascribed to a mechanical result of how SWL is reported. Analysis Of Paris Is Burning COMPARISON OF PARIS IS BURNING AND HOW TO SURVIVE A PLAGUE Ava Morrow History 3220 The United States in the 20th Century November 13, 2017 Beginning in the mid 1980 s, a number of efforts were initiated to bring awareness and enlightenment to the actual tragedy of AIDS. Two films that evolved out of these awareness campaigns were the documentaries Paris Is Burning and How to Survive a Plague . Both films, although in significantly diverse ways, provide a window into the alternative lifestyles of LGBT people of the times and the problems and issues they faced. A comparison of these two documentaries demonstrates the initial fears of the public and affected people and the beginnings of acceptance or at least tolerance of these alternative lifestyles. The movie Paris Is Burning is a documentary film exploring race, gender, and sexuality within the African American and Latino gay and transgender communities of the ball culture of New York in the mid to late 1980 s. Ball culture is a term used to describe the underground sub culture of LGBT people who walk or compete for trophies in events known as balls. The film chronicles the ostentatiously arranged competitions in which participants, within a very specific theme, must walk while being judged on criteria such as the authenticity and beauty of their apparel and their dancing ability. Much of the film shows footage of actual balls interspersed with interviews of prominent members of this drag scene. The film shows people of different gender identities and their varied methods of expressing themselves while also exploring how they cope with racism, AIDS, poverty, and homophobia. How to Survive a Plague is a documentary movie which depicts the early years of the AIDS epidemic and the efforts of ACT UP and other groups. Focus groups will be the method used to answer the question, What are the emotions and attitudes that prevent residents in a CCRC from accepting the guidance of professional staff in regard to transitioning to a higher level of care or receiving assistance in their home?
