Charge Of The Light Brigade Comparison Essay
COMPARE AND CONTRAST THE ATTIDUES TOO WAR IN TWO OF THE POEMS YOU
HAVE STUDIED
Poem Dulce et decorum est written by Wilfred Owen tells us about gas attack and deaths of
soldiers. Poem The Charge of the Light Brigade written by Alfred Tennyson tells us about battle of
Balaclava in particular about charge of the light brigade during which one because of one mistake
many soldiers died. These poems both about one aspect of the war however they show the war
other way round.
The poem Dulce et decorum est shows that war is extremely violent and scary. We can tell this after
triple drowning, guttering, choking . This triple suggest that soldiers in the battlefield were
suffering. And these word also create nasty and horrible atmosphere. The author also used ... Show

We can tell this after repetition Honour the charge they made, Honour the Light Brigade . The
author tells the readers to honour the light brigade because of their bravery when they fought in
war. The author tells us this idea of soldiers and their bravery throughout the poem. One more
example is the line While horse and hero fell the author names the soldier hero. In addition, the
author tells us similar idea through hyperbole: All the world wondered . This hyperbola
exaggerates the world`s reaction. And emphasises idea that all people know and care about
soldiers who fought and died in war. However, Wilfred Owen tells us that war is horrible. The
author described how person was dying in mustard gas how that soldier was drowning in it. Also
Wilfred Owen used simile: Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud . This simile shows that mustard
gas affects body of the soldier like cancer. And two most important lines in the poem The old
Lie: Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori . This two lines are allusion to work of Horace. This
allusion tells us that it is lie that it is sweet and glorious to die for one s

Foraging Behavior Observation Report
Dr. Janzen,
I was glad to receive such a hearty and informational response. I really appreciate you taking the
time to reply. I do have some research under my belt, I have been working with Dr. Jon
Davenport at Southeast Missouri State for about the last year just helping where I can. This
spring I led an experiment with spotted salamanders (A. maculatum) regarding foraging behavior
in response to predator kairomones. We hope to have the results figured out and go to a few herp
conferences in the early fall semester, and to have the paper out for review by the end of the year.

others it s at about a 3.45 I m actively trying to get it into that 3.5 range because I know that 3.5 or
above is where most people would like to see prospective students at.
As far as the assistantships and fellowships go what you have mentioned sounds like a great deal
of $2000 per month it is more than I expected to be honest. I for the most part understand how
assistantships work, but must admit I am unsure how fellowships do through Iowa State I haven t
been able to find real clear information on how the application and acceptance process works. I m a
first generation college student with no siblings so everything for me has been a kind of figure it
out as you go when it comes to how scholarship, financial aid, and things of that nature.
I would definitely like to stay in contact with you I am very interested in your work and the
possibility to work in your lab in the future. Thank you for your time and consideration and I hope
to hear from you soon!

Tacitus And Nero Summary
Article title: Tacitus and Nero s Persecution of the Christians
In the age of Nero, Christian persecution occurred. Tacitus is the authority over the fire that affected
Christianity. Christian writers reasoned that Nero s victims were because of their faith. On the
other hand, pagan writers reasoned that Nero persecuted because of his mere incendiarism.
Furthermore, Nero and Tacitus were wickedly anti religion. Therefore, they started a devastating
fire and arrested confessing Christians. Another reason that people have presented is that Nero used
Christians as scapegoats, as examples, of his own incendiarism.

Paul had to present the Gospel to people of other faiths. These people were of other faiths because
during the Pax Romana, they encountered multiple religions. They were open to different beliefs
and thoughts. Plenty of individuals upheld certain beliefs. Therefore, when the early church
evangelized, they evangelized to people with different beliefs. However, these people were open as
they were with the religions during Pax Romana. Thus, they were willing to hear what Paul and the
early church had to say.

Article title: God and the Shah : Church and state in Sasanid Persia
At the Council of Chalcedon in 451, church leaders condemned Monophysitism. Subsequently, a
major doctrinal development occurred. Particularly, these councils and the rejection of
Monophysitism affirmed the dual nature of Jesus Christ. Today, the doctrine that emerged from the
Council of Chalcedon is present in the belief systems of the Greek Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and
Protestant Churches. The Copts in Egypt, the Ethiopians, and the Armenians adopted the
Monophysite. Because certain groups did not adhere to the conclusion of the Council of Chalcedon

Further, medication adherence is especially necessary with antiretroviral therapy, in which a 5% to

professionals need to understand the value of each profession toward improving patient outcomes.
The Institute of Medicine suggests that significant improvements in communication among health
care providers is necessary to reduce unexpected medical events.22
Methods
All third year pharmacy students (n 92) and all secondyear osteopathic medical students (n 115) at

Privacy in the Workplace
Explain where an employee can reasonably expect to have privacy in the workplace.
Privacy in the workplace is very hard to get. Advancements in technology have been made that
allow companies to monitor every aspect of an employee use of their systems. This is very
evident if you have a job that involves you to be on the telephones. Companies are able to listen
to each phone that is made, see every website that you have visited and read any email you have
received. For example, I used to work at AMEX call center, and they were able to monitor each
call through a system called N.I.C.E.. Through this system the company was able to monitor my
calls for quality control reasons. However, if I made a phone call for personal reasons they ... Show

Electronic surveillance is almost a way of life in the United States. Everything from law
enforcement, military, government, banks, parking facilities and etc use electronic surveillance. It
is usually put into place to enhance the security for people and property, detect wrongful or lawful
activities or the interception of information that if let out to the public could be harmful and
embarrassing to the company. The only place within a company that I know of that you can t have
surveillance is in the restrooms. So, I think that Herman s use of surveillance is sufficient. In
business you have to keep your competitive advantage and if an insider who knows your business
workings lets it out, that business could quickly be at a disadvantage.
Explain to what extent an employer can engage in electronic surveillance of employees.
An employer can engage in surveillance of employees at almost any extent possible. As I mentioned
earlier an employer surveillance can include keystroke monitoring, reviewing emails, reviewing
instant messages, monitoring of conversations, monitoring time spent on the phones as well as the
numbers called, video surveillance, drug testing and satellite technology to monitor use of company
cars, and cell phones. As long as an employee is using their networks and their systems, cars, cell
phones and credit cards, the company can monitor you.

Deontological And Teleological Ethics
Introduction This essay will include the background and development of deontological and
teleological ethics. Also, it will compare and contrast the absolute and relative ethics. Finally, it
will contain the ethical issues which can affect the operational activities of the business. In
order to support the points, it will also include the real life examples. AC 1.1 Background and
development of ethical approaches Teleological ethic this describes an ethical theory which
judges the rightness of an action in terms of an external goal or purpose. So, according to a
teleological theory, consequences always play some part, be it small or large, in the
determination of what one should or should not do. Not all teleological theories are
consequentialist. John Rawls theory of justice is teleological, but not consequentialist because
it claims that consequences are only part of what must be considered when determining what
policy is morally just. For example, animal testing is the moral choice to put animal through
pain or not. The reason behind defining animal testing in a make up factory it is for a greater
good as if the animal gets hurt now, people are saved later as people will be able to use the
products that are developed and safe to use later. This is teleological because the moral choice
was decided upon the probability of a good outcome: the animal is tested upon, people would be
able to get a safe makeup products. A consequentialist action is one where the being

Democracy In Law Enforcement
People talk about law enforcement need training on how to talk to traffic violators and
individuals in general. Police face obstacles daily during and after work. The news media is part
of the issue police face. Example: officer shot an unarmed suspect for no reason. The police
should have talked to the person before he killed him. The news report half of the stories that are
not true, but the news personnel never apologize. Democracy is people s sovereignty. (Szelely, C.
2016). In the public eyes, the first impression is to prejudge the officer. The most important rule of
the day for officers is to save someone life and return home to your family. The policeand the public

Essay On Test Data Generation
2. Related works
Some of the recent work related to the automated test data generation is listed below:
Search based approaches have been extensively applied to solve the problem of software test data
generation. Yet, test data generation for object oriented programming (OOP) is challenging due to
the features of OOP, e.g., abstraction, encapsulation, and visibility that prevent direct access to
some parts of the source code. To address this problem Abdelilah Sakti et al. [26] have presented an
automated search based software test data generation approach that achieves high code coverage for
unit class testing. The test data generation problem for unit class testing to generate relevant
sequences of method calls were described at first. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A set of search heuristics targeted to OCL constraints to guide test data generation and automate
MBT in industrial applications was proposed. These heuristics for three search algorithms: Genetic
Algorithm, (1+1) Evolutionary Algorithm, and Alternating Variable Method were evaluated.
Empirically evaluated the heuristics using complex artificial problems, followed by empirical
analyses of the feasibility of our approach on one industrial system in the context of robustness
testing.
A feature model is a compact representation of the products of a software product line. The
automated extraction of information from feature models is a thriving topic involving numerous
analysis operations, techniques and tools. Performance evaluations in this domain mainly rely on
the use of random feature models. However, these only provide a rough idea of the behaviour of
the tools with average problems and are not sufficient to reveal their real strengths and weaknesses.
Sergio Segura et al. [28] have proposed to model the problem of finding computationally hard
feature models as an optimization problem and solved it using a novel evolutionary algorithm for
optimized feature models (ETHOM). Tool and an analysis operation were given in ETHOM
generated input models of a predefined size maximizing aspects such as the execution time or the
memory consumption of the tool when performing the

Alfred Hitchcock s Vertigo
Often times, throughout many of Alfred Hitchcock films, I find myself very intrigued to the
development of how the story unfolds. The difference between Vertigo (1958) and the other films
that we have watched, is that this film has more unanswered questions and a darker meaning.
Personally, I did not really like how the story of Vertigo was filmed. And of course this is just my
own opinion, which can be argued based on your own experience with the film. For instance,
throughout the majority of the film, all we see is John Scottie Ferguson (James Stewart), follow
Madeleine Elster (Kim Novak) all around the San Francisco area. For me this repetitive act of
scenes caused me to unconsciously drift away. Although, I did enjoy the pure cinema... Show more

Some of the major forms of experimentation that I noticed throughout the film was in the lighting,
camera shots, and movement. A perfect example where Hitchcock experimented with
cinematography of lighting within a scene was inside the Empire hotel. Hitchcock really played a
lot with the colors of the neon light coming into Judy Barton s (Kim Novak) hotel room. A more
specific scene of his intense use of lighting was when Scottie transforms Judy into Madeleine. In
fact, Alfred Hitchcock, really felt that the lighting was very important aspect that helped shape
the meaning of the scene. According to Vertigo s screenwriter, Samuel Taylor, he mentioned that
Hitchcock never really liked to see the story in a full view. Instead Hitchcock was more focused
on viewing each scene like a mosaic. In order to view the full story, he believed he had to first
complete each part of the mosaic. Hitchcock creates each scene as a form of artwork. As seen in
several scenes throughout Vertigo, we clearly see how he creates scenes by focusing on every
aspect of cinematography to tell a deeper sinister narrative through each characters. An exaggerated
and personally one of my favorite scenes within Vertigo s cinematography was based on the
lighting and special effects used in Scotty s nightmare scene. I can imagine how

Kurt Cobain s Suicide Like It Was Yesterday
Karen McKay recalls the day of Kurt Cobain s suicide like it was yesterday. McKay remembers
Kurt Cobain as an inspiring and loved artist. Kurt Cobain was an accomplished lead singer and

of the fame and glory that was bestowed upon him. He was greatly admired and a great inspiration

the pain of his past haunted him until the end. Thus leading to that tragic day on the 5th of April

made me a big fan of his and Nirvana, Karen McKay stated, He created this new type of music

agonizing voice, incomprehensible singing, and his style of clothes set Cobain and Nirvana away

We all knew that he was going through stuff and that the fame and attention bothered him. I just

him feel better. As a result to his troubled youth with his family, he found solace

Melting Point and Recrystallization
Recrystallization and Melting Point of Benzoic Acid
Organic Chemistry 1
10/4/12
Abstract Recrystallization was done to remove impurities from the sample. The percent recovery
of benzoic acid during recrystallization is 23.02%. The difference between the pure and impure
samples was observed by comparison of melting points. It was found that impure sample had a
lower and wider melting point range of 120.1 122.2 (C). The pure sample melting point range was
121.3 122.5 (C). These ranges helped determine purity by comparing the known melting point of
pure benzoic acid.

If the solute melts prior to the boiling of the solvent, recrystallization will not be able to occur.
For example, if you wanted to purify a sample of Compound X which is contaminated by a small
amount of Compound Y, an appropriate solvent would be one in which all of Compound Y
dissolved at room temperature because the impurities will stay in solution and pass through filter
paper, leaving only pure crystals behind. Also appropriate would be a solvent in which the
impurities are insoluble at a high temperature because they will remain solid in the boiling solvent
and can then be filtered out. Finally, the solvent should be volatile enough as to evaporate from
the surface of the compound and be of low financial cost. Impurities can be removed by adding
charcoal to the solution and hot gravity filtration. Adding charcoal provides a charged surface that
is able to absorb impurities. The impurities that were absorbed by the charcoal were trapped in the
filter paper during hot gravity filtration. Hot gravity filtration is the process by which the solution is
filtered while on top of a heat source, such as a steam bath. This will remove any insoluble
impurities (like charcoal used to remove the methyl orange) from the solution while maintaining the
high temperature and high solubility coefficient of the solution. This prevents the solid from
crystallizing from the solution while within the filtering apparatus.

A hero is a man to be admired. Every civilization throughout history has always had a hero. The
model of a hero has always changed throughout history. A hero essentially embodies the valued
characteristics of a society. In ancient Greece, the Greeks had heroes who embodies the morals and
values that are significant to their culture. Ancient Greeks had two kinds of heroes that are
reflective of their culture. The first type of herois an Epic hero, who is a brave and honorable

The Iliad and the Odyssey are believed to be written down around 800 700 BC. Before then, the
stories were told orally. The poem the Iliad tells the story of Achilles, his anger, and his slaying
of the Trojan Hero Hector. The poem the Odyssey tells the story of Odysseus, and his decade
long journey back home after spending ten years in the Trojan war that lasted a decade. Though
the events of the Iliad took place during the Greek Bronze age, the culture portrayed is mirrored
after the Dark Ages. The Dark Ages, dated around 1000 800 BC, was a result of the fall of the
Mycenaean civilization which is dated between 1600 1000 BC. The cause of the decline of the
Mycenaean civilization is unknown, but the fall of the society caused social instability, creating a
need for protection. This created a society that relied heavily on the warrior class. During the Dark

we call bruises, blisters, blood, bedazzled costumes, competitive competitions, and a family of
beautiful dancers who share the same passion as you. I found my talent at the age of five when I

What Is Dedication Essay
In order to excel, you must be completely dedicated to your chosen sport. You must also be
prepared to work hard and be willing to accept constructive criticism. Without one hundred
percent dedication, you won t be able to do this. Willie Mays. This quote is a perfect example of
dedication because it informs the reader that dedication is required to accomplish a task.
However, dedication does not only have to be connected to a sport (as stated by the quote), but it
can apply to any type of goal, passion, or task. Dedication can be described as putting extra time
and effort to reach a goal that someone is striving towards, and it can be seen in people that have a
passion that they wantto achieve.
Dedication is what drives people to become ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, dedication is not slacking off. This means people may keep pushing off a task to do it later,
or they may be taking a rest or not doing their job while at work. Slacking off may be easier than
all the effort that needs to be put into being dedicated, but that goal people are striving towards
will never be accomplished. Dedication is not just being mediocre or going through the motions
in life. Many people to get a job done will just do the task they were assigned very quickly and
sloppily. After finishing that task they will not look for work to do. They may sit around and wait
to see what their manager tells them to do next. That is not how be dedicated towards something. If
people want a goal to be accomplished they need to be completing that task quickly and correctly.
Then after finishing that task they need to be looking to see what they can do next. They cannot
be sitting around waiting to be told what to do next. Finally, Dedication is not giving up or
quitting on a task that is trying to be completed. Completing a task or striving towards a goal
may be difficult, but the answer is never to give up or quit. That just shows that people have no
interest or do not care about what they are doing. If people are dedicated they should reach that
goal, and there is no excuse to not reach it. Even if failure happens, part of being

This question has been central to comparative political economy for many years. However, most
answers to it focus on institutions in a single sphere of the political economy. In economics, there
are large but separate literatures on labor and financial markets. One explores the impact of labor
regulations, social regimes, and trade unions on growth or unemployment (Nickell 1997; OECD
1994; Calmfors/ Driffil 1988). The other considers the effects of accounting standards, the legal
standing of owners or creditors, ownership patterns, and equity or bank based finance on levels of
investment or growth (Carlin/Mayer 1999a, 1999b; LaPorta et al. 1998a; Huang/Xu 1999; Mayer
1996). A similar separation is evident in political science. Although neocorporatism can be defined
in broad terms (cf. Katzenstein 1985; Schmitter/Lehmbruch 1978), analyses of its economic impact
usually focus on the organization of the trade union movement, considering its interaction mainly
with the partisanship of governance (Cameron 1984; Alvarez et al. 1991; Garrett 1999).1 An
entirely different literature examines the structure of financial systems (Verdier 2000; Cox 1986;
Zysman 1984).2 However, there are good reasons to expect interaction effects among institutions
across spheres of the political economy. In recent years, significant interaction effects have been

For centuries, production and absorption of carbon dioxide was in balance with the ecosystem
however, in the last century, human activity has caused detrimental effects to the earth s
atmosphere due to the consequential changes in earth s natural feedback mechanism. This problem
ultimately originated from the industrial revolution in the 18th century where as a result caused the
constant production and burning of fossil fuels which has presently caused the warming of earths
surface. This is ultimately a result of by the greenhouse effect ...which is caused by the interaction
between earth s atmosphere and incoming radiation from the sun. Greenhouse gases primarily
consist of carbon dioxidehowever others such as ...water vapour, methane, and nitrous oxide... are
also associated to the greenhouse effect. Scientifically, solar radiation passes through the

Changes And Effects Of The Hundred Years War
The Hundred Years War is the seventh longest war in history lasting one hundred and sixteen
years in which there were 3.5 million deaths. The Hundred Years War was between France and
England from 1337 to 1453 over the succession to the French throne. When Charles IV of France
died without sons in 1328, his closest male relative was King Edward III of England. Isabella of
France claimed the French throne for her son, but the French rejected it. Philip of Valois, first
cousin of Charles IV, succeeded the throne as King Philip VI of France. For about nine years the
English had accepted the Valois succession to the French throne but finally they rejected it and
Edward III claimed the throne. Englandpoured all of its resources and manpower into... Show more

There were many different weapons, some old behind established and some new and created by
the kingdoms. The creation of the longbow changed the course of the war, giving a distinct
advantage to the English. This weapon was utilized to its full potential because it changed the
feudal armies to small archery based troops. There were also developments of other weapons
that the English and French did not create but used the weapons for the first time in the location.
The effect changed the way they traded and with whom they traded. New places began to trade
with France and England so they were exposed to different cultures and societies. France and
England took these new weapons and made advancements to them like adding a spear to the end
of the gun or creating stronger bullets.21 New believes began to develop throughout France and
England including the belief of nationalism throughout the society. This new belief changed
society drastically and made for a strong and powerful monarch in both France and England.
Because of these new believes army sizes grew which in turn caused more deaths but also
increased manpower for the king. These believes solved the crisis because the king needed troops
and the commoners needed money. It also caused France and England to believe that their country
was superior to all others and therefore more powerful

The Controversial Issue Of Child Labor
Throughout the past decades, child labor has been a controversial issue. The term Child labor is
defined as work or employment done by the children against the national and international laws.
Light and limited work is not a part of the child labor. But heavy and over work in early age effect
their health and safety and their growth. It also deprived them of the education. Children used to
work at factories, fields, domestic work and the service sector in the 20th century. Poverty and the
industrial development increase the level of child labor. The causes of the child labor in todays

kind of laboring is done illegally by hiding away from the inspectors that look for child labor

Bohemian Rhapsody Literary Devices
Bohemian Rhapsody Queen The song can be interpreted to that of a youthful man has to come
face to face with his actions after confessing to shooting another man. The song follows a young
man that has confessed to murdering another man. During the song you hear all of the emotional
pain he goes through as he faces the penalties of his wrong doing. Halfway through the song the
culprit pleads for no sympathy as he receives his final fate. Towards the end the man rebels against
his final fate before accepting it and going forward with it. In the introduction of the song the
culprit questions his life and the choices he has made. But the truth is that we cannot close our eyes

But towards the end of it he is then referred to as a man. Throughout the song a transformation
has happened to the boy where he has metaphorically committed suicide and in return become
older and a man. During this metaphorical transformation he has also changed himself from the
evil life he was living and become a good person. The Catholic Church believes that: 1755 A
morally good act requires the goodness of the object, of the end, and of the circumstances
together. An evil end corrupts the action, even if the object is good in itself (such as praying and
fasting in order to be seen by men ). The object of the choice can by itself vitiate an act in its
entirety. There are some concrete acts such as fornication that it is always wrong to choose,
because choosing them entails a disorder of the will, that is, a moral evil. The Catholic Church
believes that for someone to be considered good they must be a good person that demonstrates a
good behaviour, good thoughts and good morals. For someone to be classified as evil they can be
a good person demonstrating evil thoughts, evil acts and evil morals or an evil person

Beatles Influences
When one thinks of The Beatles, some concepts that usually come to mind are the hippies,
psychedelic drugs such as marijuana, and their timeless classics such as Blackbird, Yesterday, and
Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. While these associations are founded in truth, the
Beatles are also closely connected with the politics of that time. Their song lyrics advocate for
peace and harmony in a world that was at war. The way they dressed, and the length of their hair
showed a disdain for the social norms of the time. Their greatest influences were famous for straying
away from the normal to find art in the unventured. The Beatleswere created in a time of
unpredictability, but their music will outlive them.
Prior to The Beatles, there were numerous precursors with different styles of music that existed that
came together to set the stage for the Beatles to become successful throughout the world and
throughout popular music. When the Beatles first became popular, rock and roll was only about
fifteen years old at that point, although they did have iconic musicians who they looked up to and
aspired to be like. John Lennon stated himself in an interview saying, If there hadn t been an
Elvis, there would not have been The Beatles. The band even did a cover of one of Elvis popular
songs All shook Up. The group also adopted other influences into their music such as using a sitar in
some of their songs. The sitar is not an instrument commonly

Essay on The Trial of Socrates
Socrates was accused of being a sophist because he was engaging in inquiries into things beneath
the earth and in the heavens, of making the weaker argument appear the stronger, and teaching
others these same things. (Apology, Plato, Philosophic Classics page 21) Socrates is also accused
of denying the existence of the gods, and corrupting the youth. Socratesgoes about trying to prove
his innocence. The jury that Socrates was tried by was made up of 501 Athenian citizens of all
classes of society. While he fails to convince the Athenian jury of his innocence, he does a
wonderful job in this effort. I personally believe that Socrates is innocent, and that the Athenian jury
made the wrong decision.

Socrates tells a story in an attempt to explain this. It starts with a man named Chaerephon, a well
respected citizen of Athens, who had died recently. Chaerephon goes to the Oracle at Delphi and
he asked if there was anyone wiser than Socrates. (Apology, Plato, Philosophic Classics, page 23)
The Oracle, of course, says that there is no man wiser than Socrates. When Socrates heard of what
the Oracle said, he begins to wonder what riddle is hidden in those words. He knows that he is not a
wise man, so he knows that he cannot be the wisest of men. Not knowing what then Oracle truly
meant, he goes out to investigate this. He went to a man who was reputed to be very wise. He
thought that he would find a man who is wiser than himself, and thus point out to the Oracle its
mistake. Socrates finds that this man actually knows nothing that is worth knowing. When Socrates
tries to point this out to the man, he and the bystanders become angry. Socrates says that he is wiser
than this man because, while they both know nothing, Socrates realizes this. The other man thinks
he knows things that he does not, while Socrates knows that he knows nothing. Socrates claims that
he has done this with many men, and that each time, he came to the same result: the man knows
nothing and thinks he knows everything, and Socrates has made the man angry. In continuing to do
this, Socrates made many men angry, and that anger turned into

The New House Construction Of Rylai Enterprises Near...
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report assesses two available locations for the new house construction of Rylai Enterprises
near University Malaysia Pahang (UMP). After reviewing the background, these two sites are the
best for the new house construction. The strategic and the features at both locations are the reason
I chosen both of them. However, I recommend we choose Taman Tas as our site for Rylai House
Construction.
1.1 Background
Rylai Enterprises is a well known company and has the consistent performance in international
level. So, this is the huge opportunity for the company to run their business well by constructing
single storey terraced house. By the feedback we received, there are some UMP students people
nearby requesting a new house lot for their staying. Moreover, people who are working at UMP
having a hard day to find the house. Even worse the only available house is too far away for
them. As you know, house nowadays is so difficult to get because of the land available decrease
year by year, yet the landlord of both locations is willing to sell the land at low price and I m sure
Rylai Company can afford any one of them. We are planning to construct affordable house for the
fresh graduate students and for the adults these days. The house type is single storey terraced house
with a newest design by the architect Mr Tan Kai Jun. According to Mr Tan, every single house is
complete with systematic drainage system to prevent flood. In addition, the project cost should not

Pros and Cons under the 8th Amendment
1.
Introduction
The U.S. Constitutional Rights are laws that guarantee the basic rights for the citizens. There are
twenty seven Constitutional Amendments in total, but 10 of them represent The Bill of Rights.
The Bill of Rights ensures the basic individual protections such as freedom of speech and religion.
The Bill of Rights became part of the Constitution in December 15, 1791 by George Mason.
In my opinion, the 8th amendment is important because this amendment gives people the right
against excessive bail, fines, or cruel and unusual punishment. No citizen of the United States
should be subjected to cruel or insane punishment, and they shouldn t have to pay a bail amount
that is too excessive for the crime. This Amendment was added to the Bill of Rights to ensure
greater stability and was a compromise between the legislature election in the original non party
elections and the new president. The Amendment s Bail Clause is a result of injustices perpetrated
in England, were judges often abused their power in determining whether bail should be allowed to
suspects. After a number of unsuccessful attempts at reforming the law, the English Bill of Rights
in 1689 specifically outlawed excessive bail. The U.S. supreme court s held in 1987 that the eighth
Amendment s Bail Clause had only one meaning that bail conditions, when compared with the
magnitude of

Bowl Of Goldfish Essay
The work of art that I chose for my project is a painting called, Bowl of Goldfish by Childe
Hassam. It was created in 1912 with oil on canvas. The subject of the painting is a woman inside
of a house looking outside of an open window into a field of grass and flowers. While she is
staring a bowl of goldfish swim around in a bowl on the middle of a table next her while on the
opposite side of the table on a chair, rests a garment. The overall painting showcases the beauty
of a calm and peaceful morning. The overall scene of the painting presents the idea of peace. The
depiction of the woman who is the focus of painting has a very relaxed pose. When looking
upon her figure, her shoulders are rested, one of her hands rest lazily placed by her side while the
other rests on the top of an orange box. Though we do not see her face because of the way she is

The brush strokes in Bowl of Goldfish show off a sense of calm control in the painting. When
you look up to the painting and see the brush strokes the first thing that you notice is that all of

unorganized shifting going in different directions it seems as though the composition has no focus.
There is a blue stokes on the trunk of the tree. Reds and blues appear in the brown windows.
Brown strokes appear in the table. It seems as if Hassam painted it without a care. However, it s
when you step back and see how every stoke blends, how each placement contributes to the whole

Structural Factors Of Homelessness
Homelessness: Individual and Structural Factors Influencing This Wicked Problem According
to recent research, homelessness affects between 150,000 and 300,000 Canadians a year
(Cherner et al. 2017, 219; Gandermann et al. 2014, 341; Piat et al. 2015, 2367). This increase in
homelessness began in the 1980 s following economic changes as well as shifts in government
policy that lead to a reduction in supports for low income families as well as a decrease in
affordable housing available across Canada (Gaetz 2010, 21; Piat et al. 2015, 2367). Though
proving a national problem, a concrete solution for homelessnessdoes not exist, making it a wicked

However, in order to eliminate homelessness as a crisis in Canada, these individual factors must be
analyzed alongside the structural influences that lead to homelessness. According to the literature,
structural risk factors that contribute to homelessness are: transitioning from an institutional
placement into the community, social policies such as a lack of affordable housing and the
dismantling of national housing strategy, transferring the responsibility from federal to
provincial governments, and discrimination (Gaetz 2010, 22; Piat et al. 2015, 2368). By
acknowledging these structural risk factors as contributing alongside individual factors, a social
ecological viewpoint proves effective in preventing homelessness (Piat et al., 2379). As the
literature suggests, the social ecological perspective provides a lens for understanding
homelessness in Canada as a complex social issue that warrants a coordinated response across
sectors, levels of government, and society (Piat et al., 2380). By considering the issue of
homelessness across all levels of society, we are better prepared to formulate a proper and effective
solution towards the national

Pursuit Of Knowledge In Frankenstein
In the gothic novel, Frankenstein, written in 1818, author Mary Shelley tells a blood chilling story
of Victor Frankenstein and his monstrous creation. Many of the main concepts in the Romantic
literary movement are prevalent throughout the novel. Some of these concepts include nature as

complex psychology. Victor s monstrous creation can be categorized as a romantic hero because
of his continuous rejection from all forms of society. On the surface level the novel is of suspense

The birth of the modernist movement in American literature was the result of the post World War I

His actually education only goes as far as one year at the University of Mississippi. After leaving
Oxford and living in New Haven, Connecticut for a few years, Faulkner joined the British Royal
Flying Corps. He never served active duty, as the war ended before his training did. Faulkner
returned home and began writing poetry. But his early writing was more of the traditional style a
mix of Shakespeare, Victorian, and Edwardian. It wasn t until a trip to New Orleans in 1925 that
he began to fiddle with his writing style, after a friend encouraged him to write more Southern
based prose. His style also grew as he began reading James Joyce, a high modernist writer, and
Sigmund Freud, and also took a trip to Europe the center of modernist writing. With these
influences, Faulkner began writing novels about Southern society, with an emphasis on the
psychology of the characters. For example, in his novel The Sound and the Fury, Faulkner writes
from four different points of view; the first three sections are of each of the three brother s point of
view, and the last section is omniscient. His writing also plays with chronology, not always
following a specific timeline. The disjointedness of time is very prominent in As I Lay Dying.
About the death of a mother, the 59 inner monologues and fifteen characters make the book more
about the characters psychology rather than a

Symbol Of Knowledge In Alphaville
In Jean Luc Godard s Alphaville, a secret agent, Lemmy Caution, infiltrates a city controlled by a
super computer called Alpha60. He is sent to Alphaville posing as a journalist to investigate its
residents and encounters a conflict of human emotion versus logical machines.
The weapon of choice for both man and machine is knowledge that the other does not possess. This
knowledge is marked throughout the film by Caution s observations as he deciphers how Alpha 60
reinforces logical thinking by eliminating emotional ideas. These observations are Godard s
epistemological representation of what can only be known to humans and never grasped by
computers.
Caution has knowledge of poetic language important in his defense against Alpha60 s interrogation.

Again the word conscience is uttered from the book that was hidden under Dickson s pillow. As
she begins to learn these words she becomes confused and emotional, a state of being punished in
Alphaville. The more emotional Natasha becomes, the less logical her thinking is and the more
Caution understands Alpha60 s control over her.
The books, in the context of Alphaville, contain a language known only to the secret agents and are
a symbol of knowledge. In order for Caution to save Natasha from Alphaville he must reveal their
poetic meaning. Another book, the dictionary, which replaces the bible in every hotel room, is
Alpha60 s way of censoring language and controlling thought.
The dictionary also marks knowledge as something found in a language of exact definition, a form
of linear or logical thinking. This contrasts knowledge found in the poetic use of language where
words take on abstract forms and meaning. As Natasha says, the writers of books such as the

A Doll s House
A Doll s House, by Henrik Ibsen, is a well written play portraying women s struggle for
independence and security in the nineteenth century. The drama revolves around Nora, a
traditional housewife, who struggles to find a way to save her husband s life while battling
society s norms. Her decision to forge a check to help her husband, Torvald, went against the
patriarchical laws of that time: her plan was to borrow money and save her ill husband s life.
Krogstad, the antagonist, discovers her deceit and threatens to expose her lies. As a result, the
protagonist is torn between telling the truth to her husband or attempting to cover it up to save her
marriage. In the following analysis, I ll discuss Torvald and Nora s... Show more content on

Darkness at Noon Essay
The Russian Revolution and the purges of Leninist and Stalinist Russia have spawned a literary
output that is as diverse as it is voluminous. Darkness at Noon, a novel detailing the infamous
Moscow Show Trials, conducted during the reign of Joseph Stalin is Arthur Koestler s commentary
upon the event that was yet another attempt by Stalin to silence his critics. In the novel, Koestler
expounds upon Marxism, and the reason why a movement that had as its aim the regeneration of
mankind, should issue in its enslavement and how, in spite of its drawbacks, it still held an appeal
for intellectuals. It is for this reason that Koestler may have attempted not to solve but to expose the
shortcomings of this political system and by doing so... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rubashov s character vacillates between embracing the individualistic traits of his nature to the
pull exerted on him by the indoctrination of the ideology of the greater good, even at the expense
of individual liberty and freedom. Rubashov, during his time in prison though shows a propensity
to acknowledge the failure of the glorious tenets of the Revolution, for he has seen the horror of
the totalitarian system in the purges carried out by the party leaders under the pretext of filtering
traitors. In an acknowledgement of the folly of his and the Party s ways, Rubashov states ...we are
doing the work of prophets without their gift. We replaced vision by logical discussion... and it is
this acceptance of their shortcomings that shows the transformation of Rubashov. Rubashov, though
a committed Marxist, during his time in the prison seems vexed by the notion that the end justifies
the means because he has himself seen that the final result is often not what is seen in the present
moment but the truth that becomes apparent only in the light of retrospective thought. Rubashov
realizes that it is only history that can pass judgment and thus, the shooting of B. and thirty
others by No. 1 will be decided later He who is in the wrong must pay; he who is in the right will
be absolved. That is the law of historical credit;

Discussing Charlie Sheen And Mental Health
For this paper, I was very interested in discussing Charlie Sheen and mental health. Charlie
Sheen, born Carlos Irwin Estevez in New York City, is 49 years old with 5 children and has been
divorced three times. I chose him for two reasons. First, I enjoy him as an actor and watching
what he stars in. Second, there are a lot of speculations as to what is actually wrong with him in
terms of his psychological health. I want to find a clear diagnosis for his problems and state of
mind. I am diagnosing Sheen with Bipolar disorder which is categorized as an Axis I disorder, in
the DSM V. Bipolar disorder affects approximately 7.5 million people eighteen years or older in any
given year (Mohr, 2013). Of the three types of bi polar disorder, I am diagnosing him with type I
bipolar disorder, which is characterized by alternating depressive episodes and one or more manic
episodes. Manic episodes are periods of abnormally and persistently elevated, expansive or irritable
mood (Mohr, 2013). During maniasomeone exhibits extreme mood swings with irritability and
sudden outbursts of misplaced rage, work output is decreased, and they may go on spending
sprees or engage in promiscuity (Mohr, 2013). He must exhibit at least three of the following
symptoms in order to be correctly diagnosed with the disorder. The symptoms for type I bipolar
disorder are: decreased need for sleep, inflated self esteem or grandiosity, distractibility, more

The State Of Discipline Essay
The State of the Discipline History cannot be changed, but as time goes on different discoveries,
interpretations, issues, and concerns for the discipline arise that cause historians to analyze the
state of the discipline. To investigate these concerns, I read articles from Perspectives on History,
particularly the October 2017 issue. During this research, I discovered that some of the ideas,
topics, and debates that are occupying historians right now are: student enrollment, the preservation
of history, and the rewriting of history via alternative facts. One major concern currently for
historians is how to revive history in the classroom. In almost every month so far in 2017, there has
been at least one article concerning low numbers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An important aspect of these monuments are that they are beginning to memorialize all the victims
from the Holocaust, such as the Jews, handicapped, and homosexuals. Another issue concerning
historians is the idea of alternative facts popularized by the United State s current president, Donald
Trump. The author, Robert Blackey, makes his opinion about alternative facts clear: they are
detrimental to history and are not alternative, but false. An important distinction he makes is that
alternative facts are not synonymous with alternative interpretations. Historians (and students of
History 200) learn how to formulate historical narratives. As discussed in the last paper, certain
aspects can deviate and focus on various factors that ultimately shape the narrative. However, there
are always facts and evidence supporting every claim. Alternative facts are a lie, and it believe so as
a historian is to betray history, and this is why it is an important issue plaguing the nation. In order
to prove a point or save face, individuals are undermining history and facts.
The topics that are being presented in this article are present issues that have been influenced by the
past. When individuals decide on a stance on the issue of confederate monuments, it is important
that they investigate the past for the context, and this article specifically encourages individuals to
do so. For background information of why Berlin is currently in

Critical View Into Philip Zimbardo s Stanford Prison...
Student Name: Course Title: Instructor: Submission Date: Critical view into Philip Zimbardo s
Stanford Prison Experiment Zimbardo s prison experiment continues to receive a lot of critics
from the manner in which it was carried out to the results that its portrayed. Some people believe
that as a psychologist, Zimbardo should have done a better job in trying to show how good can
turn into evil through the said experiment. The research also demonstrates the interaction between
the reality and the illusion which is also the concepts that Plato portrays in his analogy of light in a
cave. As both of the experiments sometimes describe fantasy is more believable than the reality.

Slowly the prisoners lost their identities as a person to their new identities and were content to
replace their names with prison numbers. As the experiments continued the guards fit into their
roles as the sadistic people well, the prisoners even turned against each other. However, a few
inmates could not adjust to the new lives in prison and had to drop out of the experiments.
(Martyn, 2008) The first critique is the claim in the findings of Zimbardo that in some very harsh
circumstances that good can turn into evil. Zimbardo goes further and questions what the real life
prisons do to the guard and prisoners who go in without the best idea as to the life they are
starting. From his observation, the experiment showed the changes in the behaviour of the guards
from their day of entry to the end. The previously compassionate and non violent people turn into
the authoritative figures that the prisoners fear. The deduction may have been wrong since even
the experiments may not have portrayed the human nature since the guards later indicated that
they only played the roles given and did what the warden expected of them. Unlike in Plato s case,
the sight was not a role played only the confinement but the observations of the analogy are far
more accurate since it is the sight and reaction to the light and shadows and the people s view that
entailed the observation. (Martyn, 2008) The criteria for choosing the

Why use social media: We need to use social media in businesses today because almost everyone
is constantly connected through some sort of social media. Using social media is one of the
fastest ways to reach new and current consumers of any place of business. When using social
media you can upload pictures, videos, and unlimited access to updates and other possibilities for
advertising.
2. Channel: The channels that we are using for our project is Facebook, the Kearney App, and
Twitter. The Flippin Sweet Eatery currently has Facebook and Twitter. Their Facebook page has
4,459 likes. The Twitter page only has 255 followers. However they have not used the Kearney app
yet.
3. Objective: For the Twitter page moving from 255 to at least 500 followers should not be very
hard. The Facebook page has quite a bit of followers, so 5,000 likes would be very attainable.
The Kearney app could be used to increase profits and consumer levels. The way to measure these
goals is to set up the plan with the restaurant, record current levels of goals. Then after 6 months

Perception In The Truman Show
The film The Truman Show portrays an array of the ways of knowing continuously throughout. One
of these ways can easily be deciphered as intuition. The essential gut feeling can swallow up any
other reliable source solely because of a certain unexplainable phenomena pulling the heart and
mind in polar directions. Initially, it is Truman s intuition that over powers his refuting thoughts and
this is demonstrated when Truman explains his theory to Marlon, who then proceeds to invalidate
it. This leaves Truman empty handed and with a lack of reliable sources, except his intuition. The
memory of Sylvia s statement was the bases of Truman s instinctiveness and other events such as
the sight of his dead father further developed this gut feeling. The authenticity of these events cannot

At the start of the film, Truman believes that he has a clear understanding of the reality in which
he is presented, but only through his mere sight. Eyes have a tendency to be deceiving,
therefore, it should take more than one out of the five senses to be reassured of a particular
belief. The film follows Truman as he soon begins to become skeptical of his surroundings, which
in turn become the initial cause of his route to discovering the truth. The doubt that beings to form
within Truman, caused by his sense of sight, could not support him entirely until it merges with
his sense of touch. This is heavily depicted in the duration of the final few scenes where Truman s
ship collides with the sky. Despite Truman seeing the solid plaster wall as a supposed sky, the
moment he touches the wall with his bare hands, his theory is comprehensively validated through
the act of him breaking down into tears with utter shock from realization. Forms of sense
perception were put forth in order to convince Truman of his ignorance to the falsehood of his

Murder Of The American Detective
Murders in the Rue Morgue is one of Edgar Allan Poe s more famous literary works. Arguably. Poe
may be called the father of the American detective story with his trilogy involving Det. Dupin in
Murders in the Rue Morgue, the Purloined Letter, and the Mystery of Marie Roget. Poe uses the
peculiar eccentricities of hero Detective C. Augustus Dupin to make these mysteries enthralling to
the reader. Dupin is purported to be the forerunner to Sir Arthur Conan Doyles genius detective
Sherlock Holmes. Poe created a new genre that captivated the imagination of his readers and
paved the way for both English and American authors to write detective stories. Poe gives his
Detective Dupin the ability to think outside the box to take in every little detail to solve the
problem using the technique of deductive reasoning. Poe describes Detective Dupin of having the
capability of processing a certain kind of genius whose mind combines the qualities of the rational
or analytic with the fanciful or intuition. The narrator is astounded by Dupin s ability to weed his
way through situations with his mysterious usage of observation with only the tiniest of details to
bring him to the solution. In the scene of the alleyway, Dupin uses his surroundings as a guide to
concur what it is that his faithful friend, the narrator, was thinking about. Dupin, said I, gravely,
this is beyond my comprehension. I do not hesitate to say that I am amazed, and can scarcely
credit my senses. How was it possible

IRS Data Warehouse Improvements 1. Why is it so difficult for the IRS to analyze the taxpayer
data it had collected? The very complex process of assessing taxpayer data had increasingly been
compounded by the sheer enormity of tax returns and files requiring assessment. The prodigious
nature of this task is only further confounded by the imperative upon the IRS to subject a dense
set of permutations of taxpayer information to scrutiny. Until the installment of the CDW
system, the use of flat file and hierarchy based database systems made complex user queries on
these multifarious permutations of taxpayer information nearly impossible. The result was both
that individuals likely to require audits had been overlooked and that in many cases individuals
who are otherwise innocent of any taxpayer indiscretions had been subjected to these review
processes. The large scale of data and the somewhat obtuse ways of navigating said data had led
to an impasse of efficiency. 2. What kind of challenges did the IRS encounter when implementing
its CDW? What management, organization, and technology issues had to be addressed? In spite
of this clear impasse, the case study here observes that it can be exceptionally difficult to
convince a government agency that reformation is required. The case study describes agencies as
being risk averse in this regard. This aversion is only magnified by a $2 million price tag on the
data warehousing implementation and by the costs to labor,

  • 2. Charge Of The Light Brigade Comparison Essay COMPARE AND CONTRAST THE ATTIDUES TOO WAR IN TWO OF THE POEMS YOU HAVE STUDIED Poem Dulce et decorum est written by Wilfred Owen tells us about gas attack and deaths of soldiers. Poem The Charge of the Light Brigade written by Alfred Tennyson tells us about battle of Balaclava in particular about charge of the light brigade during which one because of one mistake many soldiers died. These poems both about one aspect of the war however they show the war other way round. The poem Dulce et decorum est shows that war is extremely violent and scary. We can tell this after triple drowning, guttering, choking . This triple suggest that soldiers in the battlefield were suffering. And these word also create nasty and horrible atmosphere. The author also used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We can tell this after repetition Honour the charge they made, Honour the Light Brigade . The author tells the readers to honour the light brigade because of their bravery when they fought in war. The author tells us this idea of soldiers and their bravery throughout the poem. One more example is the line While horse and hero fell the author names the soldier hero. In addition, the author tells us similar idea through hyperbole: All the world wondered . This hyperbola exaggerates the world`s reaction. And emphasises idea that all people know and care about soldiers who fought and died in war. However, Wilfred Owen tells us that war is horrible. The author described how person was dying in mustard gas how that soldier was drowning in it. Also Wilfred Owen used simile: Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud . This simile shows that mustard gas affects body of the soldier like cancer. And two most important lines in the poem The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori . This two lines are allusion to work of Horace. This allusion tells us that it is lie that it is sweet and glorious to die for one s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I do have some research under my belt, I have been working with Dr. Jon Davenport at Southeast Missouri State for about the last year just helping where I can. This spring I led an experiment with spotted salamanders (A. maculatum) regarding foraging behavior in response to predator kairomones. We hope to have the results figured out and go to a few herp conferences in the early fall semester, and to have the paper out for review by the end of the year. As far as the assistantships and fellowships go what you have mentioned sounds like a great deal of $2000 per month it is more than I expected to be honest. I for the most part understand how assistantships work, but must admit I am unsure how fellowships do through Iowa State I haven t been able to find real clear information on how the application and acceptance process works. • 4. Tacitus And Nero Summary Article title: Tacitus and Nero s Persecution of the Christians In the age of Nero, Christian persecution occurred. Tacitus is the authority over the fire that affected Christianity. Christian writers reasoned that Nero s victims were because of their faith. On the other hand, pagan writers reasoned that Nero persecuted because of his mere incendiarism. Furthermore, Nero and Tacitus were wickedly anti religion. Therefore, they started a devastating fire and arrested confessing Christians. Another reason that people have presented is that Nero used Christians as scapegoats, as examples, of his own incendiarism. Bibliography Clayton, F. W. Today, the doctrine that emerged from the Council of Chalcedon is present in the belief systems of the Greek Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Protestant Churches. Advancements in technology have been made that allow companies to monitor every aspect of an employee use of their systems. This is very evident if you have a job that involves you to be on the telephones. Companies are able to listen to each phone that is made, see every website that you have visited and read any email you have received. For example, I used to work at AMEX call center, and they were able to monitor each call through a system called N.I.C.E.. Electronic surveillance is almost a way of life in the United States. Everything from law enforcement, military, government, banks, parking facilities and etc use electronic surveillance. It is usually put into place to enhance the security for people and property, detect wrongful or lawful activities or the interception of information that if let out to the public could be harmful and embarrassing to the company. The only place within a company that I know of that you can t have surveillance is in the restrooms. So, I think that Herman s use of surveillance is sufficient. Also, it will compare and contrast the absolute and relative ethics. Finally, it will contain the ethical issues which can affect the operational activities of the business. In order to support the points, it will also include the real life examples. AC 1.1 Background and development of ethical approaches Teleological ethic this describes an ethical theory which judges the rightness of an action in terms of an external goal or purpose. So, according to a teleological theory, consequences always play some part, be it small or large, in the determination of what one should or should not do. Not all teleological theories are consequentialist. John Rawls theory of justice is teleological, but not consequentialist because it claims that consequences are only part of what must be considered when determining what policy is morally just. For example, animal testing is the moral choice to put animal through pain or not. The reason behind defining animal testing in a make up factory it is for a greater good as if the animal gets hurt now, people are saved later as people will be able to use the products that are developed and safe to use later. This is teleological because the moral choice was decided upon the probability of a good outcome: the animal is tested upon, people would be able to get a safe makeup products. The news media is part of the issue police face. Example: officer shot an unarmed suspect for no reason. The police should have talked to the person before he killed him. • 11. Essay On Test Data Generation 2. Related works Some of the recent work related to the automated test data generation is listed below: Search based approaches have been extensively applied to solve the problem of software test data generation. Yet, test data generation for object oriented programming (OOP) is challenging due to the features of OOP, e.g., abstraction, encapsulation, and visibility that prevent direct access to some parts of the source code. To address this problem Abdelilah Sakti et al. [26] have presented an automated search based software test data generation approach that achieves high code coverage for unit class testing. The test data generation problem for unit class testing to generate relevant sequences of method calls were described at first. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A set of search heuristics targeted to OCL constraints to guide test data generation and automate MBT in industrial applications was proposed. These heuristics for three search algorithms: Genetic Algorithm, (1+1) Evolutionary Algorithm, and Alternating Variable Method were evaluated. Empirically evaluated the heuristics using complex artificial problems, followed by empirical analyses of the feasibility of our approach on one industrial system in the context of robustness testing. A feature model is a compact representation of the products of a software product line. The automated extraction of information from feature models is a thriving topic involving numerous analysis operations, techniques and tools. Performance evaluations in this domain mainly rely on the use of random feature models. However, these only provide a rough idea of the behaviour of the tools with average problems and are not sufficient to reveal their real strengths and weaknesses. Sergio Segura et al. [28] have proposed to model the problem of finding computationally hard feature models as an optimization problem and solved it using a novel evolutionary algorithm for optimized feature models (ETHOM). • 12. Alfred Hitchcock s Vertigo Often times, throughout many of Alfred Hitchcock films, I find myself very intrigued to the development of how the story unfolds. The difference between Vertigo (1958) and the other films that we have watched, is that this film has more unanswered questions and a darker meaning. Personally, I did not really like how the story of Vertigo was filmed. And of course this is just my own opinion, which can be argued based on your own experience with the film. For instance, throughout the majority of the film, all we see is John Scottie Ferguson (James Stewart), follow Madeleine Elster (Kim Novak) all around the San Francisco area. For me this repetitive act of scenes caused me to unconsciously drift away. Although, I did enjoy the pure cinema... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of the major forms of experimentation that I noticed throughout the film was in the lighting, camera shots, and movement. A perfect example where Hitchcock experimented with cinematography of lighting within a scene was inside the Empire hotel. Hitchcock really played a lot with the colors of the neon light coming into Judy Barton s (Kim Novak) hotel room. A more specific scene of his intense use of lighting was when Scottie transforms Judy into Madeleine. In fact, Alfred Hitchcock, really felt that the lighting was very important aspect that helped shape the meaning of the scene. According to Vertigo s screenwriter, Samuel Taylor, he mentioned that Hitchcock never really liked to see the story in a full view. Instead Hitchcock was more focused on viewing each scene like a mosaic. In order to view the full story, he believed he had to first complete each part of the mosaic. Hitchcock creates each scene as a form of artwork. As seen in several scenes throughout Vertigo, we clearly see how he creates scenes by focusing on every aspect of cinematography to tell a deeper sinister narrative through each characters. An exaggerated and personally one of my favorite scenes within Vertigo s cinematography was based on the lighting and special effects used in Scotty s nightmare scene. I can imagine how ... The percent recovery of benzoic acid during recrystallization is 23.02%. The difference between the pure and impure samples was observed by comparison of melting points. It was found that impure sample had a lower and wider melting point range of 120.1 122.2 (C). The pure sample melting point range was 121.3 122.5 (C). These ranges helped determine purity by comparing the known melting point of pure benzoic acid. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the solute melts prior to the boiling of the solvent, recrystallization will not be able to occur. For example, if you wanted to purify a sample of Compound X which is contaminated by a small amount of Compound Y, an appropriate solvent would be one in which all of Compound Y dissolved at room temperature because the impurities will stay in solution and pass through filter paper, leaving only pure crystals behind. Also appropriate would be a solvent in which the impurities are insoluble at a high temperature because they will remain solid in the boiling solvent and can then be filtered out. Finally, the solvent should be volatile enough as to evaporate from the surface of the compound and be of low financial cost. Impurities can be removed by adding charcoal to the solution and hot gravity filtration. Adding charcoal provides a charged surface that is able to absorb impurities. The impurities that were absorbed by the charcoal were trapped in the filter paper during hot gravity filtration. Hot gravity filtration is the process by which the solution is filtered while on top of a heat source, such as a steam bath. This will remove any insoluble impurities (like charcoal used to remove the methyl orange) from the solution while maintaining the high temperature and high solubility coefficient of the solution. This prevents the solid from crystallizing from the solution while within the filtering apparatus. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This question has been central to comparative political economy for many years. However, most answers to it focus on institutions in a single sphere of the political economy. In economics, there are large but separate literatures on labor and financial markets. One explores the impact of labor regulations, social regimes, and trade unions on growth or unemployment (Nickell 1997; OECD 1994; Calmfors/ Driffil 1988). The other considers the effects of accounting standards, the legal standing of owners or creditors, ownership patterns, and equity or bank based finance on levels of investment or growth (Carlin/Mayer 1999a, 1999b; LaPorta et al. 1998a; Huang/Xu 1999; Mayer 1996). A similar separation is evident in political science. Although neocorporatism can be defined in broad terms (cf. Katzenstein 1985; Schmitter/Lehmbruch 1978), analyses of its economic impact usually focus on the organization of the trade union movement, considering its interaction mainly with the partisanship of governance (Cameron 1984; Alvarez et al. 1991; Garrett 1999).1 An entirely different literature examines the structure of financial systems (Verdier 2000; Cox 1986; Zysman 1984).2 However, there are good reasons to expect interaction effects among institutions across spheres of the political economy. When Socrates heard of what the Oracle said, he begins to wonder what riddle is hidden in those words. He knows that he is not a wise man, so he knows that he cannot be the wisest of men. Not knowing what then Oracle truly meant, he goes out to investigate this. He went to a man who was reputed to be very wise. He thought that he would find a man who is wiser than himself, and thus point out to the Oracle its mistake. Socrates finds that this man actually knows nothing that is worth knowing. When Socrates tries to point this out to the man, he and the bystanders become angry. Socrates says that he is wiser than this man because, while they both know nothing, Socrates realizes this. The other man thinks he knows things that he does not, while Socrates knows that he knows nothing. Socrates claims that he has done this with many men, and that each time, he came to the same result: the man knows nothing and thinks he knows everything, and Socrates has made the man angry. • 32. Pros And Cons Under The 8th Amendment Essay Ismael Bernal Ms. Moreh Contemporary Composition, Period 4 6, May 2016 Pros and Cons under the 8th Amendment 1. Introduction The U.S. Constitutional Rights are laws that guarantee the basic rights for the citizens. There are twenty seven Constitutional Amendments in total, but 10 of them represent The Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights ensures the basic individual protections such as freedom of speech and religion. The Bill of Rights became part of the Constitution in December 15, 1791 by George Mason. In my opinion, the 8th amendment is important because this amendment gives people the right against excessive bail, fines, or cruel and unusual punishment. No citizen of the United States should be subjected to cruel or insane punishment, and they shouldn t have to pay a bail amount that is too excessive for the crime. This Amendment was added to the Bill of Rights to ensure greater stability and was a compromise between the legislature election in the original non party elections and the new president. The Amendment s Bail Clause is a result of injustices perpetrated in England, were judges often abused their power in determining whether bail should be allowed to suspects. After a number of unsuccessful attempts at reforming the law, the English Bill of Rights in 1689 specifically outlawed excessive bail. The U.S. supreme court s held in 1987 that the eighth Amendment s Bail Clause had only one meaning that bail conditions, when compared with the magnitude of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The subject of the painting is a woman inside of a house looking outside of an open window into a field of grass and flowers. While she is staring a bowl of goldfish swim around in a bowl on the middle of a table next her while on the opposite side of the table on a chair, rests a garment. The overall painting showcases the beauty of a calm and peaceful morning. The overall scene of the painting presents the idea of peace. The depiction of the woman who is the focus of painting has a very relaxed pose. When looking upon her figure, her shoulders are rested, one of her hands rest lazily placed by her side while the other rests on the top of an orange box. The strokes look so unorganized shifting going in different directions it seems as though the composition has no focus. There is a blue stokes on the trunk of the tree. Reds and blues appear in the brown windows. Brown strokes appear in the table. It seems as if Hassam painted it without a care. However, it s when you step back and see how every stoke blends, how each placement contributes to the whole paintings attitude of calmness. • 35. Structural Factors Of Homelessness Homelessness: Individual and Structural Factors Influencing This Wicked Problem According to recent research, homelessness affects between 150,000 and 300,000 Canadians a year (Cherner et al. 2017, 219; Gandermann et al. 2014, 341; Piat et al. 2015, 2367). This increase in homelessness began in the 1980 s following economic changes as well as shifts in government policy that lead to a reduction in supports for low income families as well as a decrease in affordable housing available across Canada (Gaetz 2010, 21; Piat et al. 2015, 2367). However, in order to eliminate homelessness as a crisis in Canada, these individual factors must be analyzed alongside the structural influences that lead to homelessness. According to the literature, structural risk factors that contribute to homelessness are: transitioning from an institutional placement into the community, social policies such as a lack of affordable housing and the dismantling of national housing strategy, transferring the responsibility from federal to provincial governments, and discrimination (Gaetz 2010, 22; Piat et al. 2015, 2368). By acknowledging these structural risk factors as contributing alongside individual factors, a social ecological viewpoint proves effective in preventing homelessness (Piat et al., 2379). As the literature suggests, the social ecological perspective provides a lens for understanding homelessness in Canada as a complex social issue that warrants a coordinated response across sectors, levels of government, and society (Piat et al., 2380). (Martyn, 2008) The first critique is the claim in the findings of Zimbardo that in some very harsh circumstances that good can turn into evil. • 50. Perception In The Truman Show The film The Truman Show portrays an array of the ways of knowing continuously throughout. One of these ways can easily be deciphered as intuition. The essential gut feeling can swallow up any other reliable source solely because of a certain unexplainable phenomena pulling the heart and mind in polar directions. Initially, it is Truman s intuition that over powers his refuting thoughts and this is demonstrated when Truman explains his theory to Marlon, who then proceeds to invalidate it. This leaves Truman empty handed and with a lack of reliable sources, except his intuition. The memory of Sylvia s statement was the bases of Truman s instinctiveness and other events such as the sight of his dead father further developed this gut feeling. The authenticity of these events cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the start of the film, Truman believes that he has a clear understanding of the reality in which he is presented, but only through his mere sight. Eyes have a tendency to be deceiving, therefore, it should take more than one out of the five senses to be reassured of a particular belief. The film follows Truman as he soon begins to become skeptical of his surroundings, which in turn become the initial cause of his route to discovering the truth. The doubt that beings to form within Truman, caused by his sense of sight, could not support him entirely until it merges with his sense of touch. This is heavily depicted in the duration of the final few scenes where Truman s ship collides with the sky. Despite Truman seeing the solid plaster wall as a supposed sky, the moment he touches the wall with his bare hands, his theory is comprehensively validated through the act of him breaking down into tears with utter shock from realization. Forms of sense perception were put forth in order to convince Truman of his ignorance to the falsehood of his alleged ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Murder Of The American Detective Murders in the Rue Morgue is one of Edgar Allan Poe s more famous literary works. Arguably. Poe may be called the father of the American detective story with his trilogy involving Det. Dupin in Murders in the Rue Morgue, the Purloined Letter, and the Mystery of Marie Roget. Poe uses the peculiar eccentricities of hero Detective C. Augustus Dupin to make these mysteries enthralling to the reader. Dupin is purported to be the forerunner to Sir Arthur Conan Doyles genius detective Sherlock Holmes. Poe created a new genre that captivated the imagination of his readers and paved the way for both English and American authors to write detective stories. Poe gives his Detective Dupin the ability to think outside the box to take in every little detail to solve the problem using the technique of deductive reasoning. Poe describes Detective Dupin of having the capability of processing a certain kind of genius whose mind combines the qualities of the rational or analytic with the fanciful or intuition. The narrator is astounded by Dupin s ability to weed his way through situations with his mysterious usage of observation with only the tiniest of details to bring him to the solution. In the scene of the alleyway, Dupin uses his surroundings as a guide to concur what it is that his faithful friend, the narrator, was thinking about. Dupin, said I, gravely, this is beyond my comprehension. I do not hesitate to say that I am amazed, and can scarcely credit my senses. How was it possible ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 53. The American Internal Revenue System and Computer Discount... IRS Data Warehouse Improvements 1. Why is it so difficult for the IRS to analyze the taxpayer data it had collected? The very complex process of assessing taxpayer data had increasingly been compounded by the sheer enormity of tax returns and files requiring assessment. The prodigious nature of this task is only further confounded by the imperative upon the IRS to subject a dense set of permutations of taxpayer information to scrutiny. Until the installment of the CDW system, the use of flat file and hierarchy based database systems made complex user queries on these multifarious permutations of taxpayer information nearly impossible. The result was both that individuals likely to require audits had been overlooked and that in many cases individuals who are otherwise innocent of any taxpayer indiscretions had been subjected to these review processes. The large scale of data and the somewhat obtuse ways of navigating said data had led to an impasse of efficiency. 2. What kind of challenges did the IRS encounter when implementing its CDW? What management, organization, and technology issues had to be addressed? In spite of this clear impasse, the case study here observes that it can be exceptionally difficult to convince a government agency that reformation is required. The case study describes agencies as being risk averse in this regard. This aversion is only magnified by a $2 million price tag on the data warehousing implementation and by the costs to labor, ... • 54. Atonement and in Memory of W. B Yeats In Memory of C. Tallis and R. Turner In this essay I will discuss the effects of W. H. Auden s poem In Memory of W. B. Yeats upon the tone, and the foreshadowing of plot line of Ian McEwan s novel Atonement. The poem and the novel are both elegiac it is the contribution of the poem to Atonement at the crucial point before the deaths of the characters Robbie and Cecilia that begins to set the tone of elegy within the novel. This acknowledgement of death and mourning brings a sense of impending doom; the love expressed from Cecilia to Robbie by the inclusion of lines from In Memory of W. B. Yeats is matched by the element of tragic loss it also insinuates. The poem, set at a time of great impending disaster within Europe (Norton)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 55. The Importance Of Ford s Theater In American History The United States is a nation of many monuments, historic places, and structures that represent our history both good and bad. One place that tends to be overlooked is Ford s Theater in Washington D.C. It was here that one of the most horrific events in American history had happened, the assassination of our 16th president. President Abraham Lincoln and First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln were also at the theater celebrating the victory, but the joyous celebration would end quickly.
