Analysis of Judith H. DobrzynskiВґs High Culture Goes...
Judith H. Dobrzynski s article, High Culture Goes Hands On, suggests that the museums current
trend of providing visitors with an experience threatens the current model of providing solace and
inspiration (Dobrzynski 3). However, I disagree with this conclusion. Interactive experiences and
contemplative approaches can co exist just so long as museums adjust in response to how our ever
evolving culture receives it. Transitioning from museums elitist paradigm is critical to creating a
more accessible community conscious design. Dobrzynski, on the other hand, views these
differences as shedding the very characteristics that made [art museums] so special (1), a
pessimistic sentiment that shows her contempt towards development.
Before we can assess the roles of a museum, what exactly is the institution? Didier Maleuvre
explains museums as, devoted to the protection, preservation, exhibition, and furtherance of what a
community agrees to identify as works of art (Maleuvre 9). As we develop new modes of interaction
and technological advancements, are museums that provide interactive experiences and art works
not included in this explanation? I certainly do not think so. Audience engagement should not be
feared but promoted; the trouble, though, is finding the right balance. Maleuvre also believes that it
was the museum s responsibility to challenge the status quo, and its own cultural identity, which,
provides further cause for change as museums have moved away from

Advantages and Disadvantage to being A Art Director
Michael Temple Professor Sigmon RWS 305 11 a.m. 14 October 2014 Need for Visual
Communication Art has been much more than just a hobby or a way of expressing ones feelings,
it was long before there was any proof of a verbal language; art was a key form of communication.
Artists create art to communicate ideas, thoughts, or feelings. They use a variety of methods such
as painting, sculpting, or illustration. Also an assortment of medians, including oils, watercolors,
acrylics, pastels, pencils, pen and ink, plaster, clay, and computers. Artists works may be realistic,
stylized, or abstract and may depict objects, people, nature, or events. Art today is the key form of
the world around us, from advertisement too architecture,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Through my research, artist can struggle to find a job they want or find it hard to sell their art.
Those artists who do not versatile in the different media s of art, their opportunities can be
limited due to keen completion in both salary jobs and freelance work. This is mainly due to the
number of qualified workers/artist exceeding the number of available openings in the career
field. As I stated earlier, there are some requirement to becoming an art director, and fulfilling
those requirements can be difficult. You have to at least find a job and keep it competitively to
sustain an income. In a Houston Chronicle article online by Megan Torrance mentions painters
like me have trouble finding work and commissions, ...the BLS reports that the number of
charitable donations has been declining in recent years. In spite of this, interest in the
occupation has remained steady and led to a larger pool of qualified candidate... the BLS
projects the market will remain competitive from 2010 to 2020 (Chron.com). The artist
occupying the art and design field is increasing while the number of jobs openings is staying at a
steady rate. This is why it is important to be versatile in multimedia of art, so that you have more
opportunities at different jobs in the art field. To be an art director you pretty much have to be
versatile in the different media s and have a few different positions under your belt to qualify for
the position. Another disadvantage to be

Advancing the Individual s Knowledge of the Holocaust Essay
By comparing, analyzing and questioning the validity of Maus I and II, Night, Night and Fog,
nonfictional historical accounts and a poem, called Already Embraced by the Arm of Heavenly
Solace, found in Europe in the Contemporary World, Schindler s List and the Return to Auschwitz
we may determine to what degree these sources serve to advance humanity s understanding of the
holocaust. The holocaust can be explained as the historical event in which the Nazi s, who came to
power in Germany in January 1933, and its collaborators murdered and persecuted approximately
six million Jews. This came about because of the German belief that they were racially superior and
the Jews were an alien threat to the German state. For humanity to advance in... Show more content

The conclusions of the various sources, brought on by the analysis of the issues above and by
comparing these sources to each other, determined that overall these sources have a high degree in
serving to further man s understanding of the holocaust.
By categorizing the two movies, Night and Fog and Schindler s List, together we are able to
better analyze and contrast the two similar yet different sources. First off, both these sources can
be deemed accountable because they use more than one source. The documentary, Night and Fog,
uses two different survivors of the holocaust as well as various other sources. Schindler s List also
relied on more than one person s account of the situation to write the movie s script. This is unlike
the sources such as Return to Auschwitz, written by the first hand account of Kitty Hart , and
Night, written by Elie Wiesel who also had first hand experiences , that depend on one person s
account or report of the situation to tell the story. However, the written work isn t used for
entertainment purposes, like Schindler s List is, and therefore is less likely to be changed to draw
attention or gain financially. Schindler s List is a famous movie used to

while you sleep. Since your last meal or snack, your body s supply of blood sugar (glucose) has

keep you going. Without breakfast, some people become less able to do physical work in the late
morning hours and some students do not perform well in the classroom.

Food service director Karen Rubin said, if you don t eat foods for long hours, the brain thinks
that you are going to starve, as a result the body consumes more cholesterol and fat for storing

My Genocide Class Summary
My Genocide class senior year introduced me to the idea that everything a person does is
selfish. The idea of being construed as selfish creates a defensive feeling in many people, as the
class demonstrated with the introduction of the idea. After this class introduced me to the idea,
it became a strong belief of mine, but is it a fact that nothing we do as a species is completely
selfless? Or did it just appeal to me as a fact as a result of my friend presenting the idea? Or was
it just an obvious explanation for some people s actions? Or was I, as Mooney would say,
rationalizing [my] prior emotional commitments (Made Up Minds, Mooney)? Bacon created a
method to explore the truth of a claim like this, for, he believed that Man, being the

Banning Alcohol From Mainstream Consumption
Let s travel back in time, for a second, to the 1840 s. Hundreds upon thousands of Americans
flocked to the western half of the country, fleeing their homes and risking their very lives for a
chance to strike it rich. Some were triumphant, others failed, and everyone learned a little
something along the way... Now, fast forward a few decades to the twentieth century. The United
States government just enacted an amendment into the Constitution, banning alcohol from
mainstream consumption. A collective of citizens grew irate and resisted, beginning a
movement that would effect the country for years to come. So what do the Gold Rush and
Prohibition have to do with the Internet? Well, they re essentially what the Internet has been like
for me. As both a creator and consumer, cyberspace has turned making and viewing art into both
a prospect and, in some instances, a protest. Five, even ten years ago, nobody could have
imagined the kind of force the digital age would usher. As information was exchanged, people
soon figured out that they had a virtual library at their fingertips. I don t even have to think
about leaving the house to find out which watercolor brand was the best money could buy a
quick Google search could yield plenty of answers to that question. (About 1,040,000 results, to
be exact!) I see myself a miner, and the Internet gives me the tools I need to create my works. It s
no coincidence creators have made it this way. I could conduct research for a concept

The Fruit Of Taste Buds
Research
Taste buds Taste buds are sensory organisms that are found on your tongue. They allow you to
experience tastes that are sweet, salty, sour and bitter. The bumps that are located on your tongue
is called papillae, which contain taste buds. Taste buds have extremely sensitive microscopic hairs
called microvilli. Microvilli send messages to the brain about how something tastes, so you can tell
if something is sweet, salty, sour, or bitter. The average person has around 10,000 tastebuds, and
they are replaced every two weeks or so. As a person ages, those taste smells do not get replaced
so, an older person might have only 5,000 working taste buds(The Nemours Foundation, 2015).
Smoking also can reduce the number of taste buds (Greene, 2011). The taste buds are not the
only thing that makes you be able to taste foods. Olfactory receptors, which are located in the
uppermost part of your nose, contains special cells that help you smell. These receptors also send
messages to the brain. While you are chewing, the food releases chemicals that immediately travel
up into your nose. These chemicals trigger the olfactory receptors inside the nose. So your nose
and your taste buds work together to send messages to the brain to determine if something is
sweet, salty, sour, or bitter. If you have a cold or allergies, and your nose is stuffy, you notice that
your food seems not have much flavor. That is because the upper part of your nose, containing the

The Goal Chapter 1 Summary
Writing in the Workplace In Chapter 1 of Eliyahu Goldratt s book The Goal, we are introduced
to Alex Rogo a mere plant manager, whom going into work that early morning is already faced
with issues. While the reading continues we are introduced to a group of frustrated characters
including, Dempsey, Ray, Martinez, and an hourly worker Tony. Bill Peach the vice president
of this plant has decided to come in early causing a ruckus in the plant. Peach is frustrated
because customer order 41427 is late and decided to take matters into his own hands, by
threatening Tony s job in which he has no power of doing so. Rogo now has to face the problem
and handle it himself. As the chapter continues we see many different types of writing in the
workplace mentioned and how it is utilized. Chapter 1 of The Goal shows us how purchase orders,

The purchase order is the root to the problems in the plant that morning. Peach is incredibly
upset because the order is not only seven weeks late but the order 41427 is for one of the biggest
clients of the plant. Rogo starts to see the issue on page 3 of our text when Peach sits down and
tells him the customer had complained very angrily the night before. Promising the customer his
word he set out to disrupt the plant this morning to get the order shipped out. According to
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution a purchase order is a legally binding document between a
supplier and a buyer. It details the items the buyer agrees to purchase at a certain price point. It
also outlines the delivery date and terms of payment for the buyer. The reason the purchase order
is so important is because it keeps track of what was bought and the agreement the company has
with the buyer. When the agreement is not met like a late delivery it has cause to make the buyer
upset such as our buyer in the

Creativity And Imagination And Creativity
Creativity is a form of problem solving that needs to be applied in cases in which neither the form
of the solution nor the path to it are clear (Grolier Educational 143). Creativity surrounds everyday
life because it is innovation and ability to learn the unknown. Although creativity and imagination
are a necessity in society, not everyone can be creative . Certain factors play a role in determining
whether a student could be creative; however, these factors could be unpredictable and not
completely guarantee a child s creativeness. Psychologist have created tests that are able to
understand creativitybetter and study creativeness. Even though results can be inconsistent, patterns
have arose that have interested psychologist trying to determine what factors into creativity. For
example, intelligence does seem to play a role in creativity; however, there is no clear ratio for
someone s intelligence to their creativity, and only a certain amount of intelligence is required to be
creative. Studies have proven that that people with mental illnesses have a higher chance of being
creative than someone who does not. Although, studies have also come to determine that students
in a judge free and diverse environment increased chances of having creativity and imagination.
Even though creativity presents a difficult task of pinning what contributes to the creativity in
students, patterns have discovered that having a mental illness and being exposed to a independent
environment

Also, at night if Atticus wakes up, he will more than likely get up and check on Jem and Scout.
An example of Atticus is very protective is that Atticus always does his best to make sure his
kids are happy and safe. One way to show that is when it was very cold outside; Atticus put more
coal in the fire and put blankets on Jem and Scout to warm them up. Atticus also asks multiple
questions before or after Jem and Scout do something like where they were, or what they were
doing to make sure they are staying out of trouble. Lastly, Atticus always keeps a very close eye
on his kids, especially Scout because they are really all he has,and Atticus would like to always
keep them safe. Another asset of Atticus parenting skill is that he disciplines Jem and Scout in a
way that if very effective, and helpful. The reason why his parenting is effective is that he uses
his words, never violence. Jem said that he has never gotten spanked, so Atticus probably does not
like using violence on Jem and Scout. Also, Atticus yells at his kids if they are doing anything bad
to get them to realize what they are doing wrong. Lastly, when Atticus gets mad, he is strict enough
to get Jem and Scout to listen to him, but not too strict that it is mean. Atticus is also a very wise
man, so whenever he has the opportunity to share something with Jem and Scout, he does, and it is

Artificial Neural Networks ( Ann )
CHAPTER 5 Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) 5.1 Machine Learning In machine learning,
systems are trained to infer patterns from observational data. A particularly simple type of
pattern, a mapping between input and output, can be learnt through a process called supervised
learning. A supervised learning system is given training data consisting of example inputs and
the corresponding outputs, and comes up with a model to explain those data (a process called
function approximation). It does this by choosing from a class of model specified by the system
s designer. [Nature. ANN 4] 5.1.1 Machine Learning Applied to the Air Engine The rapid growth
of data sets means that machine learning can now use complex model classes and tackle highly
non trivial inference problems. Such problems are usually characterized by several factors: The
data are multi dimensional; the underlying pattern is complex (for instance, it might be nonlinear
or changeable); and the designer has only weak prior knowledge about the problem in particular,
a mechanistic understanding is lacking. [Nature, ANN 4] 5.2 Overview of ANN Artificial Neural

Philosophy Of Rene Descartes
In modern philosophy, reality is viewed in a twofold manner: the immaterial mind on the one hand
and the extended body on the other. Also, we think of reality and divided between the I subject
and an external world of objects. This line of thinking is attributed to Rene Descartes, widely
credited as the father of modern philosophy. Descartes was a proponent of metaphysical dualism. He
believed that the mindand the body are distinct substances. To Descartes, we can reach certain
knowledge about the mind and consciousness through introspection. He reasons that we cannot
doubt our existence as thinking things because the fact that we think is undeniable. However, we
tend to be fooled by our sensory experience of the world around us, so it is possible to put the
world outside of our minds into doubt. To Descartes, philosophy is about attaining certain
knowledge. We look upon the world as knowing subjects. Descartes believed that we cannot
properly philosophize without first establishing certain principles to guide our investigation. We
must doubt everything that can be doubted, and only when we reach a position that cannot be
doubted can we begin our quest to understand reality. Since we begin with the thinking thing, the
Cogito, the mind has ontological precedence over the body. From Descartes onwards, the ultimate
questions of philosophy were viewed as being epistemic in nature. The big questions in philosophy
were about the relationship of the thinking subject to the

As Ultima is dying she tells Tony, Always have the strength to live. Love life, and if despair

does she tell Tony to love life, but she also tells him that she will always be with him and if he
needs her comfort she will be there. An example of Tony relying on Ultima for comfort is, My

Difference Between The Oud And The Oud
The ancestor of the guitar, the oud, has not evolved into the guitar but only inspired its creation and
together became two popular instruments used in various parts of the world. The guitar is mostly
associated with western countries while the oud has been traditionally used in the Spanish and Arab
countries.
Classified as string instruments both the guitar and the oud have a few similarities. To be held and
played in the same way their physical appearance resembles one another in terms of shape, materials
and the use of strings to produce their acoustic sound. The wooden neck on both guitars allows one
to play by plucking the strings attached and transmitting the energy from the strings vibration into
the air producing sound.

One of the oldest instruments known to man, the Oud is living proof that even the most ancient of
objects can be brought to life by a modern touch. The Oud is one of the oldest musical instruments
known to man. However, the legacy of the Oud, unlike that of many other ancient traditions,
continues till today. The earliest proof of the existence of an instrument like the Oud can be found
in an excavated cylindrical seal from the Uruk Period in Mesopotamia, which dates back almost
5000 years.
Since then, the Oud has been revered as the King of Instruments, telling the stories of its time
through its melodious music. Even today, the beautiful sounds of the Oud have the power to
transport the listener to another time. History is full of stories about the Oud. According to Abu
Nasr Muhammad Ibn Muhammad Al Farabi, the 10th century Islamic scholar and philosopher,

the death of his son, Lamech hung his body from a tree. The first ever Oud was thus inspired by

What Is Gender Force Upon American Society
Gender: Forced Upon American Society Growing up, many Americans childhood consisted of
playing tag outside, having cooties, and experimenting with as many toys as possible. Hundreds
of thousands of toys flood kid stores such as Toys R Us, Baby Depot, and KB toys. With
imagination, kids are able to become doctors, presidents, and princesses during the contents of one

Cell Phone Addiction Essay
The cell phone has become a centerpiece of everyday life as cell phones are evolving and have
been increasing their functionalities. Today, we use them today for many others reasons than
what cell phones were originally designed to do. People are using them so often that they are
becoming dependent on their phones that they have even become addicted to them. Those who
are addicted to their cell phones struggle to stay away from them for a certain period of time and
become so indulged in all of the unique things they can provide. With cell phone addiction comes
many problems or issues that can occur in an individual s life. Cell phone addiction has lead to

Luigi Gallimberti, et. al discusses in their article Problematic Cell Phone Use for Text Messaging
and Substance Abuse in Early Adolescence (11 to 13 year olds), that problematic cell phone use

insomnia, and thoughts of suicide (356). The overuse of cellphones can really detriment a
person mentally and could cause them to arrive at one of these issues stated. An issue also arises
when a person with a cell phone addiction is in school. They tend to remain unfocused while on
their phones and they don t participate during class. In a sample, the students who had better test
grades were less likely to have a problematic cell phone addiction (Gallimberti, et. al 360). This
finding confirms the positive association between cell phone addiction and poor performance in
school. In schools, it was concluded that this overuse of cellphones was positively connected with
deficient school performance in teens with an average age of 15.7 years old (Gallimberti, et. al

The And Talent Retention Is Happiness And Workplace...
In any work environment, it is important for all levels of management, including executives and
owners, to consider the working environments for those within the organization or company. The
unofficial secret to longevity and talent retention is happiness and workplace satisfaction. There are
many ways for organizational leaders to promote happy, healthy working environments; the trick is
finding the right combination that works for their particular group of workers and their particular
workenvironment. Different methods work for different industries and people so it is a matter
of trial and error to find the right fit. There are employment laws in place to ensure fair work
practices occur however, employers should go the extra mile to take care of those who make their
business succeed. According to the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland (2009),
responsibility rests with each employer to provide and promote a good and harmonious working
environment (p. 3). Making sure workers are happy can only have positive effects for the company
but it is a multistep process that requires commitment from ever manager involved. Coming up
with ways to increase worker satisfaction is only part of the work; implementing these policies and
making it come to life is the challenge and the greatest responsibility. For example, employers
creating a diverse environment can lessen feelings of discrimination. Any opportunity to represent

The Importance Of A Liberal Arts Education
When I applied to college, one aspect when applying which was very important to me was to go
to a liberal arts school. There were many reasons why this was important to me, from having
heard about it from my counselors to finding it important to have a broad education. I chose Hope
College as the school I wanted to go to because it brought together the importance of God and
Christianity and it also is a liberal artsschool. When arriving at the school, I began to find out more
about how important a liberal arts educationis to increase your knowledge. The first part of a
liberal arts education that stood out to me, was having general education requirements. An
important part of developing as a person for me is to increase my knowledge and intelligence as
much as I can and in as many different areas as I can. A liberal arts education helps me achieve
this goal of widening my horizons. By having general education requirements, I can explore
different curriculum like religion or social sciences. By doing this I am broadening my
knowledge on topics I am never learned about before. As well as doing that, I also can find out
which new topics I enjoy. As a freshman, I am unsure of where I want to end up in life and what
I want to major in, but by having access to a liberal arts education, I have an opportunity to see
what new subjects I am passionate about. This semester I took Introduction to Sociology and I

overview and aim of the band and its EP and a strategy for the potential seven areas involved in
the release of any musical product. Additionally, this plan will produce a timeline and elaborate
on a budget to bring the aforementioned theory into practice. Project Bongo is an independent
five piece band from Utrecht, The Netherlands. Comparing themselves to Two Door Cinema
Club, MGMT and Phoenix, the band uses electronic beats, synths and guitars mixed with pop
songs and edgy hooks to complete their sound (Facebook, 2016). Having won several local
awards including Best Live Act 2014 (3voor12 Utrecht, 2014), supporting The 1975 in the
Netherlands and performing at the Sziget Festival in 2014 (3FM, 2014), Project Bongo s potential
appears evident. After the release of their debut EP Dancing Monkey in April 2014, the band has
released their second EP called Weekends on March 30th, 2016.

The Scientific Method Of Science
The first lab I ever did in Biology 101 was about the scientific method. The scientific method is
used to solve everyday problems. I learned about all the steps it takes to carry out the scientific
method completely. This lab taught me the basics of how any scientific experiment is performed.
The first part of the scientific methodis to begin making observations and asking questions about
different situations. It is important to always check accumulated sources of scientific data to gain
information about any situation that s being observed. The next part of the scientific method that
should completed is formulating a hypothesis. In other words, a hypothesis is what will lead to the
formation of a statement that can be tested. Usually when a hypothesis is being tested, a controlled
experiment is the type to use. Before any experiment can be tested, all the required materials need
to be gathered together. Then, a reasonable procedure should be written out to be able to perform
the experiment. In a controlled experiment, every factor is held constant except for the single
experimental variable. The single experimental variable is the one that is manipulated, while the
dependent variable is the one that is constantly watched and measured. When designing an
experiment, I learned it is important to include two groups of test subjects. The experimental group
and the controlled group. This is the basis for comparison. Once the experiment is performed,
making conclusions and

Harriet Tubman And The Underground Railroad
The underground railroad is a secret network for helping slaves escape from the South to the

neither underground, or a railroad, the system worked in a similar fashion to a railroad( Fast Facts

Intellectual Property Laws Of Australia Essay
Intellectual property is a broad term that is used to refer to the rights that the owner of an invention
or an artwork enjoys. An example of intellectual property law is the Trade Related Aspect of
Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPs), which gives individual rights such as patent, designs, and
trademark. Intellectual propertyis contained in the Article 2(viii) of the convention, which led the
establishment of the World Intellectual PropertyOrganization (WIPO). Literary works, inventions,
discoveries, trademarks, and industrial designs are among the rights that are provided in WIPO.
Intellectual property in Australia has a strong judicial support.
Introduction An effective system of intellectual property is important in facilitating innovation as
well as economic growth within a country and across all its borders (Davidson, Monoti, Wiseman,
2012). The current global economy is concentrating more in the invention of ideas that are original,
other than in manufacturing of machines. To enhance and protect these ideas, there ought to be
effective intellectual property laws. The government of Australia has prioritized the protection of
original ideas from individuals through copyright, patent, and trademarks among other intelligent
property laws, which give the inventor a temporary period to enjoy the financial benefits of his or
her original idea. The major purposes of intellectual property laws can be contested; therefore, they

Summary Of The Crisis No. 1 By Thomas Paine
The Reasoning behind The Crisis No. 1 by Thomas Paine As an anonymous author Common Sense,
Thomas Paine wrote the first pamphlet in the colonies to urge immediate independence from
Britain. After writing Common Sense, he then wrote the first of sixteen pamphlets titled The
Crisis. The first Crisis paper ( These are the times that try men s souls ) was read to Washington s

Paine motivated the troops to keep their eyes on what really mattered throughout the war. The

or delayed too long, I will not now enter into as an argument; my own simple opinion is, that had

Christopher Columbus s Voyage Preparations And His...
Christopher Columbus lived during the early modern period, more precisely the Renaissance
(Boucher). At the time, the pre modern worldview that once dominated Europe since antiquity
(existence to 476 C.E) began to vanish due to new intellectual way of thinking, which ultimately
mature in the modern way of thinking (Boucher). While Columbus contributed to this
momentous shift, there is evidence that one might argue that between Columbus voyage
preparations and his religious beliefs, the iconic Genoese explorer harbored many pre modern
convictions. The chronology of Europeans exploration dates way back before Columbus and
the Age of Exploration in the 15th century. In actuality, the Age of Exploration started with the
iconic Venetian explorer Marco Polo and his own exploration in the East. Evidence indicates
that in the late Middle Ages, the Venetian explorer Marco Polo voyaged to Asia (1271 1290) in
hopes of discovering a route into Asia s silk and spice trade. During that era, the spice and silk

Foundations of Western Culture Essay 2
A journey is the act of traveling from one place to another and in the case of Aeneas and Augustine,
it was taken to accomplish a goal. Aeneas and Augustine both take distinctive journeys in the works
written by Virgil and Augustine. Virgil opens The Aeneid with stating his subject of warfare and a

different, there are a number of similarities between the two. The physical journey of Aeneas and
Augustine were similar in the sense that they both had the same goal in mind of uncovering

  • 2. Analysis of Judith H. DobrzynskiВґs High Culture Goes... Judith H. Dobrzynski s article, High Culture Goes Hands On, suggests that the museums current trend of providing visitors with an experience threatens the current model of providing solace and inspiration (Dobrzynski 3). However, I disagree with this conclusion. Interactive experiences and contemplative approaches can co exist just so long as museums adjust in response to how our ever evolving culture receives it. Transitioning from museums elitist paradigm is critical to creating a more accessible community conscious design. Dobrzynski, on the other hand, views these differences as shedding the very characteristics that made [art museums] so special (1), a pessimistic sentiment that shows her contempt towards development. Before we can assess the roles of a museum, what exactly is the institution? Didier Maleuvre explains museums as, devoted to the protection, preservation, exhibition, and furtherance of what a community agrees to identify as works of art (Maleuvre 9). As we develop new modes of interaction and technological advancements, are museums that provide interactive experiences and art works not included in this explanation? I certainly do not think so. Audience engagement should not be feared but promoted; the trouble, though, is finding the right balance. Maleuvre also believes that it was the museum s responsibility to challenge the status quo, and its own cultural identity, which, provides further cause for change as museums have moved away from ... Advantages and Disadvantage to being A Art Director Michael Temple Professor Sigmon RWS 305 11 a.m. 14 October 2014 Need for Visual Communication Art has been much more than just a hobby or a way of expressing ones feelings, it was long before there was any proof of a verbal language; art was a key form of communication. Artists create art to communicate ideas, thoughts, or feelings. They use a variety of methods such as painting, sculpting, or illustration. Also an assortment of medians, including oils, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, pencils, pen and ink, plaster, clay, and computers. Artists works may be realistic, stylized, or abstract and may depict objects, people, nature, or events. Art today is the key form of the world around us, from advertisement too architecture,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through my research, artist can struggle to find a job they want or find it hard to sell their art. Those artists who do not versatile in the different media s of art, their opportunities can be limited due to keen completion in both salary jobs and freelance work. This is mainly due to the number of qualified workers/artist exceeding the number of available openings in the career field. As I stated earlier, there are some requirement to becoming an art director, and fulfilling those requirements can be difficult. You have to at least find a job and keep it competitively to sustain an income. In a Houston Chronicle article online by Megan Torrance mentions painters like me have trouble finding work and commissions, ...the BLS reports that the number of charitable donations has been declining in recent years. In spite of this, interest in the occupation has remained steady and led to a larger pool of qualified candidate... the BLS projects the market will remain competitive from 2010 to 2020 (Chron.com). The artist occupying the art and design field is increasing while the number of jobs openings is staying at a steady rate. This is why it is important to be versatile in multimedia of art, so that you have more opportunities at different jobs in the art field. To be an art director you pretty much have to be versatile in the different media s and have a few different positions under your belt to qualify for the position. Another disadvantage to be ... Advancing the Individual s Knowledge of the Holocaust Essay By comparing, analyzing and questioning the validity of Maus I and II, Night, Night and Fog, nonfictional historical accounts and a poem, called Already Embraced by the Arm of Heavenly Solace, found in Europe in the Contemporary World, Schindler s List and the Return to Auschwitz we may determine to what degree these sources serve to advance humanity s understanding of the holocaust. The holocaust can be explained as the historical event in which the Nazi s, who came to power in Germany in January 1933, and its collaborators murdered and persecuted approximately six million Jews. This came about because of the German belief that they were racially superior and the Jews were an alien threat to the German state. For humanity to advance in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The conclusions of the various sources, brought on by the analysis of the issues above and by comparing these sources to each other, determined that overall these sources have a high degree in serving to further man s understanding of the holocaust. By categorizing the two movies, Night and Fog and Schindler s List, together we are able to better analyze and contrast the two similar yet different sources. First off, both these sources can be deemed accountable because they use more than one source. The documentary, Night and Fog, uses two different survivors of the holocaust as well as various other sources. Schindler s List also relied on more than one person s account of the situation to write the movie s script. This is unlike the sources such as Return to Auschwitz, written by the first hand account of Kitty Hart , and Night, written by Elie Wiesel who also had first hand experiences , that depend on one person s account or report of the situation to tell the story. However, the written work isn t used for entertainment purposes, like Schindler s List is, and therefore is less likely to be changed to draw attention or gain financially. In 1989, these facilities were holding up to 4,500 inmates and the numbers were climbing giving San Diego the dubious distinction of being the most overcrowded system in the country. To determine more effective ways of handling the increasing number of inmates, the county commissioned two external feasibility studies (1985 and 1989), as well as an internal study. The idea of being construed as selfish creates a defensive feeling in many people, as the class demonstrated with the introduction of the idea. After this class introduced me to the idea, it became a strong belief of mine, but is it a fact that nothing we do as a species is completely selfless? Or did it just appeal to me as a fact as a result of my friend presenting the idea? Or was it just an obvious explanation for some people s actions? Hundreds upon thousands of Americans flocked to the western half of the country, fleeing their homes and risking their very lives for a chance to strike it rich. Some were triumphant, others failed, and everyone learned a little something along the way... Now, fast forward a few decades to the twentieth century. The United States government just enacted an amendment into the Constitution, banning alcohol from mainstream consumption. A collective of citizens grew irate and resisted, beginning a movement that would effect the country for years to come. So what do the Gold Rush and Prohibition have to do with the Internet? Well, they re essentially what the Internet has been like for me. As both a creator and consumer, cyberspace has turned making and viewing art into both a prospect and, in some instances, a protest. Five, even ten years ago, nobody could have imagined the kind of force the digital age would usher. As information was exchanged, people soon figured out that they had a virtual library at their fingertips. • 10. The Fruit Of Taste Buds Research Taste buds Taste buds are sensory organisms that are found on your tongue. They allow you to experience tastes that are sweet, salty, sour and bitter. The bumps that are located on your tongue is called papillae, which contain taste buds. Taste buds have extremely sensitive microscopic hairs called microvilli. Microvilli send messages to the brain about how something tastes, so you can tell if something is sweet, salty, sour, or bitter. The average person has around 10,000 tastebuds, and they are replaced every two weeks or so. As a person ages, those taste smells do not get replaced so, an older person might have only 5,000 working taste buds(The Nemours Foundation, 2015). Smoking also can reduce the number of taste buds (Greene, 2011). The taste buds are not the only thing that makes you be able to taste foods. Olfactory receptors, which are located in the uppermost part of your nose, contains special cells that help you smell. These receptors also send messages to the brain. While you are chewing, the food releases chemicals that immediately travel up into your nose. These chemicals trigger the olfactory receptors inside the nose. So your nose and your taste buds work together to send messages to the brain to determine if something is sweet, salty, sour, or bitter. If you have a cold or allergies, and your nose is stuffy, you notice that your food seems not have much flavor. That is because the upper part of your nose, containing the olfactory ... • 13. Creativity And Imagination And Creativity Creativity is a form of problem solving that needs to be applied in cases in which neither the form of the solution nor the path to it are clear (Grolier Educational 143). Creativity surrounds everyday life because it is innovation and ability to learn the unknown. Although creativity and imagination are a necessity in society, not everyone can be creative . Certain factors play a role in determining whether a student could be creative; however, these factors could be unpredictable and not completely guarantee a child s creativeness. Psychologist have created tests that are able to understand creativitybetter and study creativeness. Even though results can be inconsistent, patterns have arose that have interested psychologist trying to determine what factors into creativity. For example, intelligence does seem to play a role in creativity; however, there is no clear ratio for someone s intelligence to their creativity, and only a certain amount of intelligence is required to be creative. Studies have proven that that people with mental illnesses have a higher chance of being creative than someone who does not. Although, studies have also come to determine that students in a judge free and diverse environment increased chances of having creativity and imagination. Even though creativity presents a difficult task of pinning what contributes to the creativity in students, patterns have discovered that having a mental illness and being exposed to a independent environment ... An example of Atticus is very protective is that Atticus always does his best to make sure his kids are happy and safe. One way to show that is when it was very cold outside; Atticus put more coal in the fire and put blankets on Jem and Scout to warm them up. Atticus also asks multiple questions before or after Jem and Scout do something like where they were, or what they were doing to make sure they are staying out of trouble. Lastly, Atticus always keeps a very close eye on his kids, especially Scout because they are really all he has,and Atticus would like to always keep them safe. Another asset of Atticus parenting skill is that he disciplines Jem and Scout in a way that if very effective, and helpful. The reason why his parenting is effective is that he uses his words, never violence. Jem said that he has never gotten spanked, so Atticus probably does not like using violence on Jem and Scout. Also, Atticus yells at his kids if they are doing anything bad to get them to realize what they are doing wrong. • 15. Artificial Neural Networks ( Ann ) CHAPTER 5 Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) 5.1 Machine Learning In machine learning, systems are trained to infer patterns from observational data. A particularly simple type of pattern, a mapping between input and output, can be learnt through a process called supervised learning. A supervised learning system is given training data consisting of example inputs and the corresponding outputs, and comes up with a model to explain those data (a process called function approximation). It does this by choosing from a class of model specified by the system s designer. [Nature. ANN 4] 5.1.1 Machine Learning Applied to the Air Engine The rapid growth of data sets means that machine learning can now use complex model classes and tackle highly non trivial inference problems. Such problems are usually characterized by several factors: The data are multi dimensional; the underlying pattern is complex (for instance, it might be nonlinear or changeable); and the designer has only weak prior knowledge about the problem in particular, a mechanistic understanding is lacking. • 17. Philosophy Of Rene Descartes In modern philosophy, reality is viewed in a twofold manner: the immaterial mind on the one hand and the extended body on the other. Also, we think of reality and divided between the I subject and an external world of objects. This line of thinking is attributed to Rene Descartes, widely credited as the father of modern philosophy. Descartes was a proponent of metaphysical dualism. He believed that the mindand the body are distinct substances. To Descartes, we can reach certain knowledge about the mind and consciousness through introspection. He reasons that we cannot doubt our existence as thinking things because the fact that we think is undeniable. However, we tend to be fooled by our sensory experience of the world around us, so it is possible to put the world outside of our minds into doubt. To Descartes, philosophy is about attaining certain knowledge. We look upon the world as knowing subjects. Descartes believed that we cannot properly philosophize without first establishing certain principles to guide our investigation. We must doubt everything that can be doubted, and only when we reach a position that cannot be doubted can we begin our quest to understand reality. Since we begin with the thinking thing, the Cogito, the mind has ontological precedence over the body. From Descartes onwards, the ultimate questions of philosophy were viewed as being epistemic in nature. The big questions in philosophy were about the relationship of the thinking subject to the ... There were many reasons why this was important to me, from having heard about it from my counselors to finding it important to have a broad education. I chose Hope College as the school I wanted to go to because it brought together the importance of God and Christianity and it also is a liberal artsschool. When arriving at the school, I began to find out more about how important a liberal arts educationis to increase your knowledge. The first part of a liberal arts education that stood out to me, was having general education requirements. An important part of developing as a person for me is to increase my knowledge and intelligence as much as I can and in as many different areas as I can. A liberal arts education helps me achieve this goal of widening my horizons. By having general education requirements, I can explore different curriculum like religion or social sciences. By doing this I am broadening my knowledge on topics I am never learned about before. As well as doing that, I also can find out which new topics I enjoy. As a freshman, I am unsure of where I want to end up in life and what I want to major in, but by having access to a liberal arts education, I have an opportunity to see what new subjects I am passionate about. This semester I took Introduction to Sociology and I found out this is a subject I really enjoy. If I was not required to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I learned about all the steps it takes to carry out the scientific method completely. This lab taught me the basics of how any scientific experiment is performed. The first part of the scientific methodis to begin making observations and asking questions about different situations. It is important to always check accumulated sources of scientific data to gain information about any situation that s being observed. The next part of the scientific method that should completed is formulating a hypothesis. In other words, a hypothesis is what will lead to the formation of a statement that can be tested. Usually when a hypothesis is being tested, a controlled experiment is the type to use. Before any experiment can be tested, all the required materials need to be gathered together. Then, a reasonable procedure should be written out to be able to perform the experiment. In a controlled experiment, every factor is held constant except for the single experimental variable. The single experimental variable is the one that is manipulated, while the dependent variable is the one that is constantly watched and measured. When designing an experiment, I learned it is important to include two groups of test subjects. The experimental group and the controlled group. This is the basis for comparison. Once the experiment is performed, making conclusions and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Intellectual propertyis contained in the Article 2(viii) of the convention, which led the establishment of the World Intellectual PropertyOrganization (WIPO). At the time, the pre modern worldview that once dominated Europe since antiquity (existence to 476 C.E) began to vanish due to new intellectual way of thinking, which ultimately mature in the modern way of thinking (Boucher). While Columbus contributed to this momentous shift, there is evidence that one might argue that between Columbus voyage preparations and his religious beliefs, the iconic Genoese explorer harbored many pre modern convictions. The chronology of Europeans exploration dates way back before Columbus and the Age of Exploration in the 15th century. In actuality, the Age of Exploration started with the iconic Venetian explorer Marco Polo and his own exploration in the East. Evidence indicates that in the late Middle Ages, the Venetian explorer Marco Polo voyaged to Asia (1271 1290) in hopes of discovering a route into Asia s silk and spice trade. During that era, the spice and silk trade was the world s biggest industry: it established and destroyed empires, led to the discovery of new continents, and in many ways helped lay the foundation of obsession for exploration in the 15th century.
