Five Steps Of Satire
In today s society, it is very common for people to make fun of certain events or people online or
through media, known as satire. Satire can be defined as, the use of irony, sarcasm, ridicule, or the
like, in exposing, denouncing, or deriding vice ( satire ) to expose the faults of humanity, institution
or society. Satirists use literary techniques and elements of satirein order to communicate a message
to the reader. That message can be conveyed through the five steps of satire. First is to determine
the object of satire; this usually pokes fun at someone or something resulting in laughter. Next,
determine the underlying message the author is trying to get across. Then, figure out the type of
irony which is being used: situational, verbal,

Differences Between The Obedience Experiment And The...
The Milgram Obedience Study was an experiment conducted by Stanley Milgram in 1963 to
observe how far people would obey instructions that resulted in harming another individual. The
experiment consisted of a learner engaging in a memory task and a teacher testing the learner on
the task, administering electrical shocks to the learner each time an incorrect answer was given;
the electric shocks started out small from 15 volts, labeled as SLIGHT SHOCK , all the way to
450 volts, labeled as X X X of course, that was what the participant was told. The true purpose of
the experiment was not disclosed until after the experiment and the random selection of who
would be the teacher or learner was rigged so that the participant was always the teacher and the
learner was always an actor. The shocks, naturally, were never given to the learner , and the learner
gave responses that were scripted, both in answers to the questions and in responses to the shocks.
Prior the experiment, Milgram polled fourteen Yale University psychology major seniors to predict

Compared to the Milgram Experiment, one could easily argue that the prisoners suffered from far
more anxiety and trauma that the teachers who instituted electrical shocks. However, as one might
hate as much to admit, but the results of the Stanford Prison Experiment outweigh the risks. Not
only did it bring to light many natural tendencies and moral issues of human beings, but also that it
was this experiment, along with the Milgram Experiment, the revolutionized the ethical guidelines
of human experimentation. While these two experiments may be considered among the darkest
experiments in the history of psychology, it is important to acknowledge what they have also

Ralph Waldo Emerson And Individualism
Do people in need have a right to be assisted by people who have the means necessary to help; is it
better for the recievers to be aided, or to solve their problems by themselves? Many philosophers
throughout human history have analyzed and constructed arguments for and against helping the
needy and poor, as well as arguments for charitable isolation. Peter Singer is an Australian
philosopher who wrote Famine Affluence and Moralityin Philosophy and Public Affairs to
convince people of rich societies that giving charity to those in need is not generous, but is rather
morally obligatory to people that have the resources to help
Ralph Waldo Emersonwas an American philosopher that contributed to the concept of
individualism. As part of a series of essays, Emerson wrote Self Reliance to explain his personal
worldview of individualism, a moral philosophy that judges people based on their individual
personality traits, values, experiences, and values. The main idea of Self Reliance is that people
should not conform to morals and values of other people, but should instead let their values be
shaped by the life that they lead.
Garrett Hardin on the other hand, was an American philosopher and ecologists that wrote Lifeboat
Ethics in Psychology Today to differentiate a world that has a single authority leading it, from a
world that has multiple authorities without a supreme captain to dictate right from wrong. Hardin
further explains how distributing resources based on

Film Comparison
Comparison of Great Expectations (1946) and Pride Prejudice (2005)
Introduction
Films are not only made to entertain, but also discuss social issues surrounding the society. It
serves as the mirror of the society in depicting its culture, traditions, and social conditions. It is
interesting how films are used to show the viewers the different problems revolving around the
country whether it is about love, life, friendship, relationship, marriage, or aging. British films are
using films to illustrate the problems and conditions of their society as they deal with male and
female conflicts, social class, and marriage. Through the years, these issues are still discussed and
explored in the films. The purpose of this paper is to compare two films ... Show more content on

Like Lean s film, Wright s movie also use nonconventional characters, especially Elizabeth who
does not easily comply with the opportunities provided to her. Darcy is also a different kind of
man who does not boast his wealth as he shows discomfort in front of other people. In the film
adaptation, Darcy is shown uncomfortable in society due to his dislike of social interactions.
He prefers the comfort of his solitude to the nuisance of interacting with people and is shown to
find most conversations tiresome, even if the partner is a familiar character like Miss Bingley
(BorbГ©ly, 2011, p.2). This shows that Darcy is a different kind of man because he is not happy
being in front of many people showing his wealth and fineness. This kind of depiction shows that
men evolve not merely based on their generation, but through the way they see life. The depiction
of Darcy is a significant illustration of how men today are not actually looking at their wealth, but
merely on the reality of life and finding someone who can have the same perspectives as

Staff Training Research Paper
Personnel Shortages
The need for highly trained intelligence personnel has never been more important. A personnel
shortage at the Intelligence Training Branch has a negative impact on the Coast Guard. The effects
of this shortage are resulting in signs of burn out within the staff, the graduates are not receiving the
highest quality of training, and the instructor billets are becoming harder to fill. From a chief s
perspective staff burn out is a high priority issue. With the exception of the School Chiefs and
Deputy School Chief all instructions for both A and C School come from the same central pool.
IS A School is the only school on site designed this way. We are billeted for six petty officers.
However, we currently only have two. That leaves two chiefs and two petty officers to complete
81 training weeks per year. Some of these trainings are road shows and require two people to
travel. In addition to the regular work schedule, the chief s must be duty IS and OOD qualified. The
petty officers must be duty IS qualified. This is currently putting us in a one and four rotation for
duty IS. Unfortunately, this leaves minimal time for leave resulting in staff burn out. Due to the
demands of the training and duty schedule the curriculum is suffering. We are in a state of

not get the time to take sufficient leave. The busy training schedule also eliminates time to improve
the curriculum. This results in graduating intelligence professionals that are not as effective as they
should be. Sending them into the fleet does a disservice to them and the Coast Guard. Since it has
been such a rough year the petty officers do not have many positive things to say when prospective
instructors call asking about the billet. As the chief, I know it

Essay on A Short Story About an Evil Barber in Ring...
In Ring Lardner s short story Haircut , the narrator is a straightforward barber, who goes by the
name Whitey. The story is about Whitey tells a customer about the well liked regular at the local
barbershop, Jim Kendell. At first the barber makes it seem that Jim is a good old fella, but
depending on some peoples views, and on Jim s actions towards people, they will quickly discover
that Jim is a selfish jerk. Keeping this in mind there are two important questions that are brought
up throughout the story, which are if Jim s life actually matter to the town and was Jim an evil
person; personally, I believe that Jim was not a completely evil person and that the town did not
value his life.
Jim was known as the town s practical joker, even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the story when Jim s wife is mention, Whitney would said As I say, she d of
divorced Jim, only she seen that she couldn t support herself and the kids... However, I believe
this wasn t the real reason why Jim s wife wouldn t divorce him. I think she was afraid of what
he would do if she tried, there was cases where he didn t get he s way he would slash out by
playing a cruel joke on someone, and besides after Jim lost his job with the Carterville people he
only did little paid jobs around town and use the money to buy gin. Whitney mentions that the only
reason why the children didn t starve was, because the stores in town were supporting them; also
Jim s wife was trying to make money by making clothing. Therefore, she wouldn t divorce him for
financially reasons, but for safety of the family.
Now keeping this all in mind, did Jim really matter to the town, or was he just the town s biggest
joke? The conclusion I have about this is that the town was just keeping Jim around just for the
stories, so they would have something to talk about. There was a man named Hod Meyers who
was also known for his jokes around town, but he wasn t as cruel or as famous as Jim, therefore
the town didn t like Jim solely for him. Also, by the way Whitney talks about Jim at the end of the
story by saying He certainly was a card! Comb it wet or dry? leaves the reader with the thought
that Jim was just another one of Whitney s ways entertain the passers by who

Summary Of Stephen Levitt s Freakonomics
When you think of economics, you imagine the business field of finance and commerce; however,
reading Freakonomics you can see that this book defies that stereotype by distinguishing between
how the world works and how we think it should work. Freakonomics, shows the unconventional
ways that the world must operate in its everyday life. Throughout the book Stephen Levitt discusses
how we as humans are driven by incentives daily. Levitt explains the concept of correlation does not
prove causation to show that one thing happening might not have any correlation to the thing it
may cause. For example, he disputes that the more money a candidate uses on his/her election, the
more likely that candidate is to win elections. In the first chapter of Freakonomics, Levitt begins to
tell how if people are given incentives, more times out of none... Show more content on

Although a child s name does not have any impact on the economic success of the child. Levitt
chose to contrast name that black and white parents chose for their children. The name a child is
given at birth seems to be a predictor about who the parents are rather than what the child will
become in their future. A lot of names were also seen to show socio economic status and how
they tend to cycle through higher and lower strata s over time. Another thing we learned was
that many of the names given to a child, despite being white or black, tend to be very dissimilar.
In this chapter, I tended to be more drawn in because I never would have thought that that a child
s name could have any affect (which is does not) on the success of a child. Many people with the
same name, I have learned are not all going to be as smart or as well off as the other. Many
names seem to have good or bad reputations. There was said to be studies found that showed
people with unusual name to drop out of school and become more isolated in

Greek God Apollo Research Paper
Greek God Apollo Research Paper I guess darkness serves a purpose: to show us that there is
redemption through chaos. I believe in that. I think that s the basis of Greek mythology , Brendan
Fraser once said about the idea of all Greek Gods and myths. The people of ancient Greece would
look up to various gods, depending on what they were seeking. Apollos name translates to strength ,
as he displayed this trait throughout his lifetime and had to be emotionally and physically stronger
at times for the people of Ancient Greece. Apollo was a man of trust who excelled and supported
all of the fine arts of the Greek civilization such as music, art, and poetry (God Apollo). One of
the most underestimated traits of Apollo was his healing powers, in which he helped out many
Greeks in desperate times, like the Trojan War (Cartwright). The Greek God Apollo was the most
influential among Greek people because of his recognition for music, the truth, and healing powers.
Apollo was born on the Greek island of Delios, from his parents Zeusand Leto (Regula). Zeus was
the god of the Olympians who also controlled lightning and thunder, and Leto was the goddess of
motherhood (Atsma). Apollo was a god who had a clear idea of what was right from wrong and
lived with the idea of that the Greek society could live under peace and harmony and follows the
laws that were put into motion, especially after the Trojan War (The Story of Apollo). Apollo
demonstrated importance to the people of

Asylum Seekers Oral Persuasive

In my opinion I strongly believe Refugees should always be welcome in Australia, everyone
deserves a safe and comfortable place to live and grow up in. Many in our society disagree on
Refugees and asylum seekers coming into Australia, but others would say everyone deserves
something. Imagine being in a refugee or asylum seekers shoes , imagine being sexually abused or
living in a poor, unhealthy environment, you d want to come to Australiato wouldn t you?
Everyone deserves something that makes them look forward to tomorrow
My first reason to why refugees should always be welcome is, how badly some get sexually
abused or assaulted, how poorly they are treated and are seen as things instead of humans.

Child Labour And Its Effect On Children Essay
Child labour, in the Western tradition, evokes a negative connotations of dangerous work being
committed by children, and while child labour that causes physiological or psychological damage
to children, or inhibits their ability to gain an education is reprehensible, not all child labour is
detrimental. However, child work, which is difficult to differentiate from child labour, is an
acceptable even beneficial to the child and their family. This is especially true in agriculture.
However, certain industries should prohibit all children from working such as working
domestically outside of the child s home or within mining. While children are working in all these
industries it become a question of why. There are several reasons including: poverty, which is
associated with an inability to receive an education, the cultural context of a society, family
breakdown, and a lack of government enforcement and resources. In order to address the underlying
causes of child labour it is imperative that implement policies that reduce and eliminate child labour,
additionally there must be cultural enjoyment to better educate the populace on what the
obligations the state has signed on too, also education needs to be free in its entirety to ensure
everyone has equal opportunity for advancement, finally there needs to be greater government
resources invested in reducing the sources of poverty. Due to the loose categorization of children s
economic rights set out in the Convention of the

Trends in Nursing Practice
Trends in the nursing practice Job opportunities for RNs (registered nurses) are expected to
continue growing faster with their salaries also growing. However, the opportunities vary by the
employment setting and their available geographical setting. In fact, estimates of nursing industry
experts project that close to 600,000 new jobs will be generated. The reason for this growth is as a
result of the technological advances in the care of patients. This has permitted more healthproblems
to be treated and has increased the emphasis that is being placed on preventive care. Additionally,
the number of old people is increasing that the number of younger people. In hospital health care
which is the largest industry, however, employment is expected to grow more slowly. With the
intensity of nursing care also increasing, there are more nurses that are required per patient and the
number of inpatients is also increasing. Discharge of patients is happening earlier and there are
more procedures that are being conducted at the outpatient departments. Therefore in hospitals, the
growth is expected in the outpatient departments such as rehabilitation, chemotherapy, and same
day surgery. Moreover, there are many procedures that are being conducted in physicians offices
and other places such as freestanding ambulatory centers and emergency centers. Therefore, growth
in employment is expected in these places. Employment in home care facilities such as nursing

A sample size equaling 50 + 8m is required to do a multi linear regression, where m is the number

Attractive Packaging and Product Display
Most impulse buying occurs because of product display, and attractive packaging plays an
important role in product display (Ghani and Kamal, 2010). Point of purchase decisions
heighten the potential for product packaging to communicate information to consumers and
influence product choice (Clement, 2007). Silayoi and Speece (2007), Venter et al. (2011),
Honea and Horsky (2012) stated that visual packaging is key to gaining consumer in store
attention. Visual elements can be related more to the influential side of decision making like
attractiveness which includes of size, shape, graphics. Graphics can be such as layout, color
combination, typography, and product photography. Silayoi and Speece (2004), suggested that
visual package elements play a major role in affecting consumer purchase decision, especially in
low involvement products which is an item that is habitually purchased and so this requires
little effort to decide. The same researchers conducted a free list research in order to identify the
most important food package design attributes and they find out that the most important for
consumers are colour, shape, picture and the design of the label (Ares Deliza 2010a). The existence
of graphics (images) is one of the factors that influences consumers preferences the existence of

Animal Performers Research Paper
The Truth Behind Animal Performers If someone was repeatedly hit, stabbed and whipped for the
sake of entertainment, would we sit and watch? If someone was snatched from his family and
home, for the sake of entertainment, would we promote it? If someone s well being, happiness
and health was ignored for the sake of entertainment, would we allow it? These are the conditions
thousands of animals have to endure everyday. If they aren t acceptable for humans, they aren t
acceptable for animals. While many may believe animals in entertainment attractions are well taken
care of, they are abused daily and are forced to perform.

negatively affected ( Global Scale 2015). However, it is possible for these depressing numbers of
abuse to decrease. If more of us are aware of the exploitation of entertainment animals, we can either
advocate for better treatment or shun such entertainment. This could cause the demand for such
shows to decrease. It would also motivate show owners to stop using animals, eliminating unfair

Introduction. Throughout The Course Of One’S Academic And
Introduction
Throughout the course of one s academic and professional career, one will be required to create,
present, and receive needed information via numerous presentations which utilize slide deck
software such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Apple s Keynote. In this project, I will
discuss the effective use of these applications to create presentations which effectively utilize
elements of visual design to effectively communicate with an audience. My interest in this topic
comes from my experience as both a student and a professional. In these capacities, I have regularly
experience both the audience and the presenter side of slide shows and I have seen how this method
of disseminating information can both excite and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Technology has given anyone with basic computer knowledge the ability to create multimodal
blended structure slide decks, and then distribute this media throughout the internet. I utilized The
Non Designer s Design Book because it emphasizes the four basic principles of good visual design,
which can easily be applied to create slide based presentations. These four principles include
contrast, repetition, alignment and proximity. The proper implementation of the principles are key
to the creation of an effective slideshow presentation. Another influential reading from our course
which I am able to apply to my project is Visual Language for Designers. The main points I take
from this reading, which are applicable to this project are the idea of minimalism in a low fidelity
visual and the idea of reducing the quantity of elements in a visual.
For this project, I also utilized other sources which dealt directly with the effective use of visual in
presentations. One valuable project resource was a 2014 TEDx talk given by David JP Phillips
entitle How to Avoid Death by PowerPoint. The main points taken from this source include the
limitation of one topic per slide, the importance of the size of visuals in presentations, the ability to
capture the attention of an audience with the effective use of

Marriage Is The Sacrament Of The Church
Marriage is one of the sacraments of the Church. The Catechism of the Catholic Church points out
that Christian marriage becomes an efficacious sign, the sacrament of the covenant of Christ and
the Church. An efficacious sign not only symbolizes or signifies something, but makes present what
it signifies. Marriagesignifies and makes present the love of Christ to the baptized spouses; a love
by which Christ formed the Church as his spouse.
The image of the relationship between bridegroom and bride used to explain the relationship
between Christ and the Church in the scriptures are appealing to a natural human relationship. The
Scripture however shows that Christ s love for the Church surpasses natural human love. Christ s
love for the Church is a love of complete self giving expressed in his death on the Cross. In this
same vain, Christian marriage too aspires not only for natural human love, but also to Christ s love
for the Church:

In addition, for marriages that are celebrated within the Latin Catholic Church, canonical form
requires, among other things, that an authorized bishop, priest, or deacon ask for and receive the
spouses consent as the Church s official witness of the marriage celebration. For marriages of
members of the Eastern Catholic Churches, the assistance and blessing of an authorized bishop or
priest is required. The Holy Spirit binds the spouses together through their exchange of promises in
a bond of love and fidelity unto death. Their marriage covenant becomes a participation in the
unbreakable covenant between Christ the Bridegroom and his Bride, the Church. The same love
that defines the Church now defines the communion between the two spouses: authentic married

Before I get into the really good stuff, let me say that this isn t about being one of those cheeseballs
with really lame hypnotic language patterns. Very far from it.
To give you a bit of a chuckle, here s an example of what I mean by lame hypnotic patterns:
I once had a student of one of my NLP Training programs tell me that he had a great technique he
learned from his Pickup Artist Guru , and he asked if he could share it in front of the class.

It could work, because he had enough confidence to dare to try something so incredibly lame.
It s the confidence that would work. Not the lame language pattern.
Anyway, here are 5 tips you can actually use that WILL work and will dramatically enhance your
experiences in the bedroom...
1. Learn how to anchor peak states (both emotional and physical). If you don t know what an
anchor is, in the simplest terms, it s an external stimulus that creates a consistent internal response.
For example, it s like when you hear a special love song, and it makes you think about your partner
in a romantic way.
That s just one example of many different kinds of anchors.
Anchors can be set via any, and or all, of our 5 senses, meaning visually, auditorilly, kinestheticlly
(meaning touch), smell, and or taste.
One of many great ways to create a powerful anchor is to gently touch your partner s ear, or ears

Essay about An Ethical Theory Applied to Business...
The object of this essay is to establish whether there is an ethical theory that can be successfully
applied to business organizations. In order to answer this question, it is necessary first to define the
major ethical theories, which are utilitarianism, deontology and virtue ethics, before determining
whether there are any other options. After that, the ethical needs, problems and limitations of work
organizations will have to be examined so that the different theories can be evaluated in this
context. It will also be important to draw a distinction between the terms accurate and useful as
these actually result in two different questions the answer to which need not necessarily be the
same. Another essential part of this discussion... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to this it has the property of universalisality in that the right action will be right for
everyone. However, as a pragmatic and functional system of moral analysis, Utilitarianism has a
number of difficulties. One of the major problems is the fact that it is extremely difficult to
quantify happiness, and if it is not possible to decide which of several available actions produces
the most happiness, it follows that it is not possible to decide which action is the right one. Also
a particular action generating a high degree of happiness may have unforeseen consequences
that have the opposite effect. Can it be morally right to have a completely innocent and well
person killed if two seriously ill people could be saved by an organ transplantation? Is an action
always and incontrovertibly right because it gives greatest happiness to the greatest number of
people? Brady(1999) refutes this: the majority vote is not an ethic; it is a social choice technique.
Deontology as promoted by Kant on the other hand denies that the right action is the one that
produces the best consequences. It is based on a set of moral rules, and the right action is
supposed to be the one that conforms with these rules, whereas certain other types of action are
morally forbidden. Deontology seems to appeal to common sense as duties include special
obligations to family and

The Case Of Brown V. Board Of Education
Education is a valuable service in society that strengthen a workforce, a nation and bring forth
awareness. Why should this be limited based on race or because of economic reasons, the quality
should represent where the schools are located, if they are public? The Public School system

Brown v. Board of Education, a case which continues to have a great impact to this day, taking
into consideration what was occurring at the time is how this case can be fathom. Today,
equality is flawed, but far from the injustices of the 50s. However, steps such as the case of

Without a doubt, in current times the public school s roster reflects the demographic makeup of its
neighborhoods; racial and culturally, and these are the results of economics, more than a racial
circumstance. That said, in continuing to change there will be more court cases on isolated
discrimination and beyond the school system to allow changes needed. Currently, being able to

Methods For Sustainable Agriculture From Http
Summarize, in YOUR own words (do NOT copy from the website) two of the methods for
sustainable agriculture from http://www.ucsusa.org/food_and_agriculture/science_and_impacts
/science/sustainable agriculture.html (including all hyperlinks used).
Cover crops is the first method I will cover. Cover crops are essentially an alternative crop that
get planted between growing cycles. There can be a number of positive reasons for doing so. A
cover crop can hold the soil together ad reduce erosion. If ploughed into the soil or mowed and
left as cut material, this provides a more natural revitalisation of organic material and therefore
nutrients to the land. This is a more healthier alternative to manufactured strong fertiliser to
replenish nutrients to the soil for the next crop. Certain crops can also act as detergents to pets
and diseases. Another use of cover crops is to act as a cover crop and feed for livestock meeting
dual needs.

The stately white columns the interior for The Arkansas capital lead to the executive office
occupied by William J. Clinton only 30 years ago. After a successful college career at an elite

and practiced law through court appointments. Eventually her husband would successfully run and
become Arkansas s Attorney General, then Governor. As Hillary continued to practice law, her
focus would eventually shift to early childhood education and health. Rodham wasn t what
Arkansas envisioned for a first lady at the time. She was a working wife, who refused to take her
husbands last name, and didn t seem to fill the role as a traditional homemaker. Still, her husband
remained fairly popular after his rebounding election in 1982. In 1992 and 1996, Clinton easily
carried the state, although that was the last time a Democrat would take the six electoral votes
from Arkansas. Now in a matchup with New Yorker Donald Trump, it is highly unlikely Arkansas s
former first lady will come close to Trump in the Natural State. Racial distribution, religion,
education, a large rural population, and indications from previous elections, all point toward a

Who knows when evil matters will come the poem At The Gates talks of a man dealing with the

theme displayed in African Literature and are used highly in Kofi Awoonor s At the Gates. The
loss of one man s life in battle and his ascent to Heaven above is largely what At the Gates talks

First of all being It is Akpabli Horsu who sent me (Awoonor 38) used to show the author s
perspective on the murder of a man being simplified into the man being delivered to Heaven by the
man they were killed by. My daughter death called her (Awoonor 39) the author describes the
death of a man s innocences as the loss of his daughter, and uses this as deeper meaning to show
that the man s innocence has been killed by those of all he trusted who had sent him to fight in
the first place. It is an evil god who sent me (Awoonor 39) death is seen as sent by an evil God
who wishes the loss of life upon a man and sends them to Heaven above or to to Hell below
judging them. Diction is used to help show an author s theme and the tone they use throughout the
story to help show a deeper meaning or a message through the story.
Symbolism is a literary device used to give an object an entirely different meaning which is
deeper and more significant to the story. The supposed daughter of the man of the story is the
man s innocence taken from him by the men he trusted the elders and chiefs who sent him to war

Child Labour In Ethiopia Essay
Introduction
Child labour is a very real problem in the world today, and although it is declining, progress is
happening at a slow and unequal pace. Child labour by the International Labour Organization is
defined as work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity, and that
is harmful to physical and mental development (Diallo, Etienne, Mehran, 2013, p. 2). In the most
extreme forms of child labour it could account for child enslavement, separation from their
families, exposure to serious hazards and illnesses and being left to fend for themselves on the
streets (Dinopoulos Zhao, 2007). In order for certain types of work to be included as child labour

provided the push for countries to acknowledge the problem of child labour and create actions to
fix it. This paper will be divided as follows: firstly I will provide a brief background on child
labour in the world; secondly I will provide the situation in Ethiopia; thirdly I will present the
actions that the government has placed to combat child labour in accordance with my argument;
lastly, I will give my recommendations regarding the implications of the actions of the Ethiopian
government.
Child Labour in the World Today
In 2008, there were approximately 215 million child labourers, aged 5 17, in the world. According
to the International Labour Organization, the number of child labourers globally fell by 3% from
the years of 2004 2008 which is slower in comparison to the 2000 2004 period that had an 11%
decrease (Diallo, Etienne, Mehran, 2013).There has also been a 15% decrease in the number of
girls in child labour in contrast to boys who are having their work increase (United Nations, 2013).
Among them, 115 million children were in hazardous work which includes: prostitution,
agriculture, mining, militia, construction, manufacturing, service industries, hotels, bars, and
domestic service (Cigno, Rosati, Guarcello, 2002). The terms hazard and risk are often used with

Even though Farfrae s now Henchard s enemy, he s willing to overlook his own emotions first,
and put his daughter s first. Henchard leaves town of their wedding day, but once Elizabeth Jane
hears that he has left, she immediately goes looking for him and finds him at a friends house,
near death. Henchard passes and his daughter takes his will, only to read that Elizabeth Jane
Farfrae be not told of my death, or made to grieve. (242) Hardy s use of diction here is important
because Henchard says Elizabeth Jane Farfrae which implies that he has learned to put his past
rivalry with Farfrae aside and accept their love. He also feels that he has caused enough pain in
her life that she does not deserve any more. He s somewhat guilty for all the things he has put
her through. The will continues to say that no man remembers me. and Hardy s use of tone
signifies that Henchard s not doing this for pity, he s true in his words (242). This is a huge
change in Henchard s character because, previously, all he wanted was to be accepted and
thought highly of by everyone, and now he asks that no one remembers him. After reading her
father s will, Elizabeth Jane comes to the realization that he has truly had a change of heart and
that the man who wrote them [the words on the will] meant what he said. (243). Elizabeth Jane s
tone in this sentence suggest that she forgives him for all the pain he has caused her, and she s
willing to move forward. Through Henchard s acceptance of her marriage, he s truly a different
person, because before, he would have only thought of how the situation applied to him but now he
s finally thinking of other people. Henchard s cognizance allowed him to realize that his pride was

  • 3. Differences Between The Obedience Experiment And The... The Milgram Obedience Study was an experiment conducted by Stanley Milgram in 1963 to observe how far people would obey instructions that resulted in harming another individual. The experiment consisted of a learner engaging in a memory task and a teacher testing the learner on the task, administering electrical shocks to the learner each time an incorrect answer was given; the electric shocks started out small from 15 volts, labeled as SLIGHT SHOCK , all the way to 450 volts, labeled as X X X of course, that was what the participant was told. The true purpose of the experiment was not disclosed until after the experiment and the random selection of who would be the teacher or learner was rigged so that the participant was always the teacher and the learner was always an actor. The shocks, naturally, were never given to the learner , and the learner gave responses that were scripted, both in answers to the questions and in responses to the shocks. Many philosophers throughout human history have analyzed and constructed arguments for and against helping the needy and poor, as well as arguments for charitable isolation. Peter Singer is an Australian philosopher who wrote Famine Affluence and Moralityin Philosophy and Public Affairs to convince people of rich societies that giving charity to those in need is not generous, but is rather morally obligatory to people that have the resources to help Ralph Waldo Emersonwas an American philosopher that contributed to the concept of individualism. As part of a series of essays, Emerson wrote Self Reliance to explain his personal worldview of individualism, a moral philosophy that judges people based on their individual personality traits, values, experiences, and values. The main idea of Self Reliance is that people should not conform to morals and values of other people, but should instead let their values be shaped by the life that they lead. Garrett Hardin on the other hand, was an American philosopher and ecologists that wrote Lifeboat Ethics in Psychology Today to differentiate a world that has a single authority leading it, from a world that has multiple authorities without a supreme captain to dictate right from wrong. Darcy is also a different kind of man who does not boast his wealth as he shows discomfort in front of other people. In the film adaptation, Darcy is shown uncomfortable in society due to his dislike of social interactions. He prefers the comfort of his solitude to the nuisance of interacting with people and is shown to find most conversations tiresome, even if the partner is a familiar character like Miss Bingley (BorbГ©ly, 2011, p.2). At first the barber makes it seem that Jim is a good old fella, but depending on some peoples views, and on Jim s actions towards people, they will quickly discover that Jim is a selfish jerk. Keeping this in mind there are two important questions that are brought up throughout the story, which are if Jim s life actually matter to the town and was Jim an evil person; personally, I believe that Jim was not a completely evil person and that the town did not value his life. However, I believe this wasn t the real reason why Jim s wife wouldn t divorce him. I think she was afraid of what he would do if she tried, there was cases where he didn t get he s way he would slash out by playing a cruel joke on someone, and besides after Jim lost his job with the Carterville people he only did little paid jobs around town and use the money to buy gin. Whitney mentions that the only reason why the children didn t starve was, because the stores in town were supporting them; also Jim s wife was trying to make money by making clothing. Therefore, she wouldn t divorce him for financially reasons, but for safety of the family. Now keeping this all in mind, did Jim really matter to the town, or was he just the town s biggest joke? The conclusion I have about this is that the town was just keeping Jim around just for the stories, so they would have something to talk about. There was a man named Hod Meyers who was also known for his jokes around town, but he wasn t as cruel or as famous as Jim, therefore the town didn t like Jim solely for him. Summary Of Stephen Levitt s Freakonomics When you think of economics, you imagine the business field of finance and commerce; however, reading Freakonomics you can see that this book defies that stereotype by distinguishing between how the world works and how we think it should work. Freakonomics, shows the unconventional ways that the world must operate in its everyday life. Throughout the book Stephen Levitt discusses how we as humans are driven by incentives daily. Levitt explains the concept of correlation does not prove causation to show that one thing happening might not have any correlation to the thing it may cause. For example, he disputes that the more money a candidate uses on his/her election, the more likely that candidate is to win elections. I think that s the basis of Greek mythology , Brendan Fraser once said about the idea of all Greek Gods and myths. The people of ancient Greece would look up to various gods, depending on what they were seeking. Apollos name translates to strength , as he displayed this trait throughout his lifetime and had to be emotionally and physically stronger at times for the people of Ancient Greece. Apollo was a man of trust who excelled and supported all of the fine arts of the Greek civilization such as music, art, and poetry (God Apollo). One of the most underestimated traits of Apollo was his healing powers, in which he helped out many Greeks in desperate times, like the Trojan War (Cartwright). The Greek God Apollo was the most influential among Greek people because of his recognition for music, the truth, and healing powers. If you don t know what an anchor is, in the simplest terms, it s an external stimulus that creates a consistent internal response. For example, it s like when you hear a special love song, and it makes you think about your partner in a romantic way. That s just one example of many different kinds of anchors. Anchors can be set via any, and or all, of our 5 senses, meaning visually, auditorilly, kinestheticlly (meaning touch), smell, and or taste. One of many great ways to create a powerful anchor is to gently touch your partner s ear, or ears (some like tongue, some don t, but almost all like a very very soft touch) during peak emotional and physical experiences. In order to answer this question, it is necessary first to define the major ethical theories, which are utilitarianism, deontology and virtue ethics, before determining whether there are any other options. After that, the ethical needs, problems and limitations of work organizations will have to be examined so that the different theories can be evaluated in this context. It will also be important to draw a distinction between the terms accurate and useful as these actually result in two different questions the answer to which need not necessarily be the same. However, as a pragmatic and functional system of moral analysis, Utilitarianism has a number of difficulties. One of the major problems is the fact that it is extremely difficult to quantify happiness, and if it is not possible to decide which of several available actions produces the most happiness, it follows that it is not possible to decide which action is the right one. Also a particular action generating a high degree of happiness may have unforeseen consequences that have the opposite effect. Can it be morally right to have a completely innocent and well person killed if two seriously ill people could be saved by an organ transplantation? Is an action always and incontrovertibly right because it gives greatest happiness to the greatest number of people? Brady(1999) refutes this: the majority vote is not an ethic; it is a social choice technique. Deontology as promoted by Kant on the other hand denies that the right action is the one that produces the best consequences. It is based on a set of moral rules, and the right action is supposed to be the one that conforms with these rules, whereas certain other types of action are morally forbidden. Deontology seems to appeal to common sense as duties include special obligations to family and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Henchard passes and his daughter takes his will, only to read that Elizabeth Jane Farfrae be not told of my death, or made to grieve. (242) Hardy s use of diction here is important because Henchard says Elizabeth Jane Farfrae which implies that he has learned to put his past rivalry with Farfrae aside and accept their love. He also feels that he has caused enough pain in her life that she does not deserve any more. He s somewhat guilty for all the things he has put her through. The will continues to say that no man remembers me. and Hardy s use of tone signifies that Henchard s not doing this for pity, he s true in his words (242).
