Plagiarism And GMU Honor Code
Many people especially college student have of the term Plagiarism either one or many times in
their classrooms. This term can be defined in many ways however most of the definition contain
the words such as steal, cheat, discredit. These words can be used a synonym for term plagiarism
because they are associated with it. Plagiarismcan be defined as stealing someone s ideas without
giving them proper credit. This action is essential cheating because it appears as if all the person
present work fully completed it without any outside influence, source or idea. Many of these
websites such as the papermills site offer paper for students to help them brainstorm. Paper mill sites

Some of the similarities include the statements about plagiarism, its unethicality, and unacceptance.
Both type of websites claims that plagiarism it unethical and do to not approve of it. Some of the
difference are the manner in which the statement was written, the amount of detail provided, the
given permission to use purchase paper. The GMU honor bolded the important phases, provide
more detail compare to the other sites, and does not allow student to buy papers. On the other hand,
the paper mill thrives off the purchase of the paper, doesn t provide much information on
plagiarism, and one wrote certain words and phase its disclaimer in capital letter. In conclusion,
plagiarism is a problem which frequently occur and it is important to take all the precautionary
actions to avoid

Essay On The Reconstruction Plan
After the Civil War there was nothing for the soldiers to do so they went back home. In doing so
Lincoln announced his Reconstruction plan called the Ten Percent Plan, which needed ten percent
of the Southern states to take an Oath of Loyalty in order to be admitted back into the Union. This
aroused some disagreement between the Republicans and the President. The North wanted Lincoln
to punish the South severely for their acts but he denied them and said that he was going to forgive
and forget and acted like they never had seceded from the Union. The Republicans were angered
when they heard that the South basically got off free without a punishment and wanted the South to
have to do more than just take an Oath in order to be part of the Union... Show more content on

With the North in power the South could do nothing but try to regain their freedom, when Abraham
Lincoln was killed by John Wilkes Booth they noticed that it was going to be even harder since
there was no President on their side anymore. When Andrew Johnson came into power the North
were happy because they thought that he was anti South, but he was not. Johnson went along with
Lincoln s Ten Percent Plan giving the South some support. The North at this act planned to
impeach Johnson from Presidency but the farthest that they got was limiting his power. Johnson
did not get impeached but instead was saved by the Seven Martyrs who took the risk of being
shunned by friends and family. The North now having a lot of power decided to help the freed
slaves by passing the Fourteenth Amendment which prevented high confederate officials from
holding office. They also insisted that the South give the freed slaves the right to vote. The North
being mostly Republicans had power of the South and wanted to have the strong hold on the
Reconstruction plan. This was a hard time for the South but a great time for the

Getting You Yes, By Roger Fisher And William Ury
In the novel, Getting to Yes, Roger Fisher and William Ury articulate that [A]ny method of
negotiation may be fairly judged by three criteria: It should produce a wise agreement if agreement
is possible. It should be efficient. And it should improve or at least not damage the relationship
between the parties. 1 In academia the concept that Fisher and Ury describe is known as integrative
negotiation a win win process, based on pursuing interests, that focus upon an ongoing relationship
between negotiating parties. 2 Although this concept appears simplistic, its efficient outcome is
rarely achieved. Far too often negotiators fall quarry to distributing resources, instead of using
creativity to expand the pie . However, the ability to negotiate, like any skill, can be improved. Over
the course of six business negotiation simulations, students, Katelyn Burke and Emilie
Croonenberghs, aimed to advance their negotiation skills. Each case provided an opportunity to
discover the key fallacies associated with negotiation and, more importantly, how different factors
can affect bargaining. By implementing scientific research and applying formal knowledge the
students aimed to reflect on each business simulation starting with Biopharm Seltek and concluding
with Mexico Venture. Negotiation 1: The Biopharm Seltek Negotiation is the interpersonal decision
making process necessary whenever [individuals] cannot achieve their objectives single handedly. 5

Mul The American Comedy And Action Film Produced By Walt...
Mulan is a 1998 American comedy and action film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios

Huns, the emperor of China asks for one man from each family to join the Chinese army. In
order to save Mulan disable father from getting drafted, she secretly goes in his place and

manages to defeat the Huns and restore her honor. Mulan from the Disney movie Mulan
character is ported as a stereotypical woman who was being prepared to be chosen as a bride to
become a wife, which was the best thing she can do during that time as women to bring honor to
her family but contrast to any other Disney movie it breaks the genderroles society portray women
to be. In the beginning of the movie, Mulan s father volunteer himself to join the Chinese army

to beg him to let her father out of it because he is disable because of the previous battles and that
if she had to she would take his place. Before she even finishes her sentence the man recruiting

Cancer
Cancer is defined as a disease cause by the uncontrolled division of abnormal cells inside a part of
the body. Mutations to specific genes or regions of DNA contribute to the presentation of these
abnormal cells as well as the ability for these cells to divide uncontrollably throughout the body. For
many years, the standard route of treatment for those who have been diagnosed with canceris to use
chemotherapyor radiation therapy. Although these therapies have been considered to be the
standard of care for cancer treatment for many decades, the toxic side effects that are also
associated with these therapies can be just as devastating as the disease itself. The onset of targeted
therapy for the treatment of cancer has brought on a new... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other formulations of TKIs include erlotinib (Tarceva), canertinib, vatalanib, dasatinib, and
sorafenib to name a few. This manuscript will be discussing Imatinib Mesylate in further detail
and reviewing many of the pharmacological and antitumor and anticancer properties of the drug
in more detail. The use and increased acceptance towards targeted cancer therapies is not without
its imperfections. As with any medication or therapy, not every individual is the same and the
overall response rates may change from person to person and from population to population. As
more research is done, the introduction of new inhibitors as well as the improvement of current
inhibitors will help to increase the overall response rate in patients as well as help to increase the
ability for patients to receive even more selective and specific care for their disease.
To gain a better understanding and overall appreciation for the creation and implementation of
targeted therapies, it is important to look at previous standards of care for the treatment of cancers
and tumors. Conventional chemotherapy, when directed in the direction of specific cells in the
body, does not do a very good job at being able to discriminate between normal, healthy dividing
cells and tumorigenic cells. This can lead to many different toxic side effects ranging from fatigue
and anemia to excessive vomiting, hair loss and in some

The Positive Importance Of The Halo Effect
Managers or coaches should know that sometimes their expectations can be formed by the Halo
effect (a psychological phenomenon that allows a general opinion of someone, to be gathered
from only one element). Despite the fact that influence of the Halo effect, as well as any other
perceptual effect, can have both negative and positive consequences, initial elimination of them
will do managers more objective. The race, gender, age, educational level and class biases, which
are rooted in stereotypes, also, influence the level of expectations that leaders have for employees.
Another factor that has its influence on the result of this conception is employees acceptance or
resistance. People tend to respond positively to a manager s high expectations and confidence in
their abilities. Although, some employees are resistant to the Pygmalion effect, especially, when
they receive biased feedback. Of course, this doesn t mean that managers should always seek for
employee s acceptance. Careful consideration of target personality and a possibility of resistance
can alter employee s behaviour and trigger powerful effects. Some employees, particularly with a
strong sense of their own, often strive to disprove inaccurate/unappealing expectations by inspiring
imaginative and creative thinking. As usual, this happens when targeted employees are to discount
negative expectations and use other sources such as from peers or other co workers to form their
perceptions of how competent or

To Kill A Mockingbird Society Analysis
In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee uses Jem, Scout, and Dill to help the reader view
certain aspects of society in a different way by using social class, being a woman, and racism.
Children are more open minded than adults, so they view the world in a distinct way compared
to them. Most of society is stuck in their ways and are only able to see the world in one
perspective, while the kids are are trying to develop their own view of the world . The kids morals
are unlike many people s in the town, so this gives the reader a different perspective of Maycomb
/society.
For instance, one way that Jem helps the reader see a new aspect of society that would not
normally be seen is, how unfair the social classes in Maycomb are. All the ... Show more content on

One person who has a very different opinion from Scout s is aunt Alexandra, who says a woman
should be prim and proper. In the text it says I could not possibly hope to be a lady if I wore
breeches; when I said I could do nothing in a dress, she said I wasn t supposed to be doing
things that required pants. (262) Scout is so used to her tomboyish ways of dressing/acting that
it is very foreign to her when she has to act like Alexandra s vision of a lady. Aunt Alexandra was
always persistent about Scout being a certain type of lady with a bunch of strict rules, but Scout
was not going down without a fight. Also when Jem says, You know she s not used to girls, said
Jem, leastways, not girls like you. She s trying to make you a lady. Can t you take up sewin or
somethin ? (232) This hits Scout harder than when Alexander tells her to be a lady because
Scout had always been Jem s little sidekick. The kids were close, but when he pushed her away
like this it hurt Scout emotionally. Being called a girl was considered an insult, but now that s
what Jem wants Scout to be now. Finally Scout learns that sometimes it is commendable to be a
lady, such as when her father told her and the other women that Tom had died. Scout pulled it
together like the rest of the women and made it so that no one in the missionary society ever knew
anything was ever wrong. Jem still

The Ethics Of The Corporate Veil
Introduction
The corporate veil is a term that refers to the concept of treating a corporation as a separate legal
entity from its shareholders and thus bestowing upon it separate rights, obligations and liabilities.
In the landmark case of Salomon v Salomon, the court stated that the liability of company
shareholders is limited only to the extent of their capital contributions. The court also explained that
since companies are separate legal entities from shareholders, they are separately liable for debt and
obligatory responsibilities.
However, there have been special circumstances where English courts have found it necessary to
lift the corporate veil for the sake of delivering justice. Although such instances are rare, the
possibility of lifting the corporate veil has generated controversy. Such controversy primarily
revolves around the uncertainty of circumstances in which lifting the corporate veil is necessary.
This paper provides a critical analysis of instances in which lifting the corporate veil is necessary.
The analysis applies examples and evidence from English case law, statutes and other applicable
legal principles.
Lifting the corporate veil
Fraud (avoiding existing obligations)
The most prominent instance in which English courts allow lifting of the corporate veil is when
individuals establish companies to commit fraud. Fraud, in this case, means avoidance of existing
obligations resultant of contracts or legal provisions. The Salomon case is

Google s Legal And Ethical Controversy
Defining Google s Legal and Ethical Controversy
Just Google it a saying that has become an integral part of everyday vocabulary. The worlds
most popular search engine can provide people, worldwide with access to information that
otherwise would not be available. Whether you re looking to find pictures of the Holi celebration
in India or find a local NYC eatery where you can have brunch, with just a click of a button, Google
always has an answer.
Despite the greatness that Google has brought to the world, on April 15, 2015 the European Union
filed an Antitrust lawsuit against Google. The European Commission addresses four main areas of
concern in Google s operation: potential bias in Google s search results, scraping content from
rival websites, agreements with advertisers that may exclude rival search advertising services and
contracts that limit marketers from using other platforms . I feel that Google has the legal right to
favor its own search results over its competitors and that it is ethical for Google to use its
dominance of the search engine market to its advantage.
Situation Analysis
Google is a technology company operating on a global level. It employs 32,000 employees and
generates annual revenues of about $38 billion .
Google first came underfire for unfair competition concerns in the U.S. during 20132. Before the
FTC conducted a through investigation, Google pledged to alter its business practices. Google s

Book Study Update
Book Study Update The book that was chosen for my book study was Blythe s(1999), Akenfield:
Portrait of an English Village. I have chosen this book because of my many connections to
England. Several years ago, I was provided the opportunity to undertake graduate studies at
Westfield House, and attached House of Fitzwilliam College which is part of Cambridge
University. During my time in Cambridge, I was able to travel the country and visit many of
the places my ancestors called home. Having a cousin who still resides in Kettering, due North
of London, and parents who have just retired from living in Wales, I have a long appreciation for
the people and heritage of this small country. It is these appreciations that have lead me to my
choice of Blythe s (1999) book. After having ordered the book through Amazon, I finally received
my copy on Friday. I have been able to navigate through the introduction and first two chapters of
the book. Akenfield, is not the name of an actual village, but is rather a pen name given to this
East Anglian village as a means of protecting the identities of those involved in the study (Blythe,
1999). Blythe describes his book as quest for the voice of Akenfield, Suffolk through a talk that

Death Of A Salesman Quote Analysis
To begin, in the book Death of a Salesman, written by Arthur Miller, three symbols were used to
depict Willys feelings and how lost Willy is at times. Miller wrote about stockings, which is a
symbol of betrayal and letting down his family due to the affair. You gave her Mama s stockings
(Miller 94). This quote displays how let down Biff was when he found out that Willy gave the
random woman a piece of his mother s clothing. The stockings were the start of Willy s downfall.
Furthermore, the other symbol used in Death of a Salesmanwas seeds.

Environmental Issues Of The American Automotive Industry
In conversations globally the environment is a hot topic. Issues with the ozone layer, depleting
natural resources, and health risks associated with emissions and changes in climate coupled with
its resulting natural disasters; have pushed conservation issues into the spotlight. The
environmental issues presented today are not the result of one country, one type, or one industry
actions but a communal failure of a mixture of several. With that said many countries and industries
are going through policy changes to combat environmental issues that will hopefully benefit the
environment, the consumer, and industries.

The lower the miles per gallon (mpg) a vehicle has the greater the amount of fuel needed to reach
destinations. Armed with this knowledge, the United States government, through various agencies,
set forth a plan regulation to be followed by the industry in an attempt to lower vehicle emissions.
On the heels of the 2011 fuel standards Cash for Clunkers that called for a reduction of emissions in
heavy duty vehicles, the Obama Administration has introduced new fuel and emissions regulations
and standards for the whole American Automotive Industry. These regulations, on light duty and
heavy duty vehicles, that have been passed by the administration are a joint effort by the National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), The National program for greenhouse gas
emissions (GHG) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Though there are various
procedures the meat of the regulation is that by 2025 fleets of vehicles would need to get an
average of 54.5 mpg. By doing this greenhouse gas emissions will be cut by almost 6 billion
metric tons by 2025. This agreement was the first of its kind and garners support from 13 major
automakers, which account for almost 90% of the auto producers in the U.S. The auto producers
get a set national fuel standard and the nation gets less emissions. But as with all changes there are
those who are happy and those who are not. Those encouraging the

In John Milton s Paradise Lost, the parallelism between Satan and Eve s fall is strong in that they

from his free will leading to his rebellion against God and, ultimately, his great fall. He is known as
the one who introduces sinto Adam and Evethe first humans to ever exist. His plan to go against
God is the beginning of a whole new world to the universe and a whole new significance of

However, craving independence from God ferociously backfires on Satan when he finds out that
even after leaving hell, he cannot escape it, which way [he] [flies] is Hell, [he] [himself] is Hell,
(IV, 75). Satan finds his way to revolt against and separate from God to overrule Heaven and
become king, instead however, he takes on the role of the representation of all evil which is
evidently seen in his interactions with Eve. Eve s hunger to become independent from Adam
and all she is commanded to do is similar to Satan s situation in that their yearn for power and

Analysis Of The Book From The Brain By Tobias Wolff
Perhaps we do not realize the impact of the petty things we have experienced when life itself
flashes before our eyes. Even though our lives are composed of countless moments to remember,
sometimes we do not understand how they slowly shape who we are and how we see the world.
This is what Tobias Wolff suggests in his short story, Bullet in the Brain . The story focuses on the
internal journey of a man named Anders when his life comes to a close. A well crafted look into
the memories of Anders gives readers distaste for all he takes for granted and demonstrates his lack
of sympathy. The story begins with Anders in line at a bank. After one of the tellers closes her line
and all the patrons become impatient, two bank robbers with guns enter the bank. The robbers
cuff the security guard and begin demanding money from the tellers. Anders makes too many
sarcastic and critical comments, and as a consequence, one of the bank robbers shoots him in the
head with a pistol. The entire second part of the short story focuses on the thoughts Anders
experiences as the bullet travels through his brain. The narrator begins to discuss many seemingly
irrelevant memories from his life, and surfaces how he does not think about or remember any of
those moments as his life comes to a close. Instead, the narrator ends the story with Anders
recalling a time from his childhood where him and his friends were playing baseball, and tells how
a particular phrase his friend uses makes him feel aroused.

Socrates Views On Socrates
To question what no man has questioned before, that is what we praise Socrates for. Socrates
Philosophies grew out of his questioning of the social norm. Using this technique, he seems to
always focus on three main aspects: justice, virtue, and morality. Socrates claims that he has no
wisdom. He states, I know I have no wisdom, great or small. The world has an infinite number of
possibilities and anything he declares understanding, is extremely minimal compared to the
possibilities that exist in the world, there is so much out there that hasn t been exposed yet.
Socrates had many thoughts and ideas over things people never even took time to think about. He
thought differently and always more intensely than others. Socrates says that knowledge is essential
to a person. He concluded that a person s evil and wrong actions come from their ignorance and
their failure to investigate. He was also convinced that no one knowingly does wrong, if a person
does not know what is right, then that person will do wrong, but in the other hand, if the person
knows what is right, they will most definitely do right. He once mentioned that the unexamined life
is not worth living introducing the idea of Universal Definitions, meaning although individual
things may vary and be constructed differently the definitions of how they are similar, are
permanent. The most important thing about Socrates was the fact that he was a teacher. He taught
anywhere and everywhere, he even went up to people,

The Crucible Summary Chapter 6
During this unit, Pontius Pilate questions Jesus as the final decision maker in this trial. In verse 11
he asks Are you the king of the Jews? in which Jesus replied You have said so. Pilate continues the
interrogation after the elders and the high priest have concluded their testimonies against Jesus. An
element of irony is introduced as Pilate is amazed that Jesus made no rebuttal against such claims.
Pontius Pilateprobes further in verse 13 and asks Don t you hear the testimony they are bringing
against you? Ironically, Jesus gave no response. Why was Jesus remaining silent? Possibly, due to
the crowd s obvious people power there was no response that would have satisfied the hostile
climate. Furthermore, Jesus predicted his death many... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Once the crowd had demanded the release of Barabbas, Pontius Pilate gives the remaining

this point, the governor has completely lost his authority and his weakness is shown in verse 23
where he questions the crowd and does not get a response to the prosed question. Instead the crowd
neglects the question all together and demands for Jesus to be crucified. In verse 23 Why? What
crime has he committed? asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, Crucify

Essay on Bio Warfare
Biological warfare is war waged with deadly chemicals, biological agents, or radioactive
materials (CBR). They can be used to kill large amounts of people, destroy food, or just
temporarily stun them for a matter of time so troops can come in and torture them or do whatever
troops led by an manipulative tyrant who destroys everything. Using CBR, allowed you to kill
everything and leave the buildings standing instead of nuclear weapons which destroy everything,
put fallout in the air, and have radioactivematerials wash into the ground and streams. Using deadly
chemicalsin war has been going on since the early 1900 s during World War I (1914 1918).

The Hague Conference of 1899 made an attempt to outlaw projectiles carrying poison gases; the
agreement to this effect lasted only until W.W.I. In Geneva in 1925 a League of Nations
protocol against chemical and biological war was signed; it was not, however, ratified by the
United States until 1975. The treaty outlaws the first use of such weapons in warfare, but nations
generally reserve the right to use them in retaliation. Agreements totally banning chemical
warfare have proved difficult to achieve. A treaty totally banning biological warfare was drawn
up by the Geneva Disarmament Conference in 1971 and approved by the United Nations General
Assembly. Some 80 nations signed the Biological Weapons Convention, which the United States
ratified in 1974. This treaty is unique because it outlaws a whole class of weapons by most of the
world. Its effectiveness, however, is still questionable; progress in genetic engineering has also
complicated this issue. At the Bush Gorbachev summit in June 1990, a treaty was signed providing
for both the United States and USSR to reduce stockpiles of chemical weapons. In May 1991, 19
industrial nations including the United States commited to adopt controls on the export of 50
common chemicals used to manufacture these weapons. Anthrax is a contagious disease of warm

Essay about Relationships in Geoffrey Chaucer s The...
Throughout literature, deep relationships can often be discovered between a story and the author
who writes it. Relationships can also be found in stories about a husband and wife. In Geoffrey
Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales many of the characters make this idea apparent with the stories
they tell. In The Pardoner s Tale , a distinct relationship can be made between the character of the
Pardoner and his tale of three friends. Also, the Wife in The Wife of Bath s Tale boldly declares
her relationship towards her husband.
Throughout The Pardoner s Tale , the main character teaches about greed, gambling, desecration,
and drinking, but in the beginning he admits to committing these sins himself. One of the portrayals
of hypocrisy, in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The irony of the Pardoner is based on his hypocritical actions. The fact that he does not care about
the souls of those he has tricked, says a lot about his character. Near the end of his tale, the friends
begin to reveal their true personality. All three of them turn on each other trying to steal the
treasure for themselves. All of the trust, which they had promised, was a lie and no loyalty
remained. The supposed faithful friends display their true cruelty and expose their hypocrisy in
relation to the Pardoner s character.
One main theme in The Wife of Bath s Tale is female dominance and equality. In the tale, the wife
portrays her dominance through her own experience. For example, the image of the whip sets her
role as master, and she tells everyone that she is the head of her household. Despite her claim that
experience is her sole power, the Wife of Bath evidently feels the need to create her authority in a
more scholarly manner. She mimics the habits of the scholars and churchmen by supporting her
claims with quotations from antique works and scripture.
The Wife of Bath apparently attempts to emphasize female dominance over men. She contradicts
many of the harsh customs and declares her own haughty assessment of women s function in
society and in relationships. In the story, Chaucer explains that what women want is sovereignty
over their husbands. According to the tale, women desire to be treated as masters over their love.
The story also suggests that

Advertising And The Emotional Response Of Advertising
One very prevalent demographic that advertisers appeal to are parents. People are able to relate
with these family oriented ads more than any other type of advertisement out there. From cars, to
toys, to baby products, and more, many consumer items are something that parents will need to
buy. With parents being one of the largest possible groups of consumers in our world today, its
no wonder these companies are targeting them. I looked at and analyzed 4 different commercials
from 3 different companies; Lego, Huggies, And Coca Cola. All of them were specifically
tailored to parents. I found there to be an incredible amount of similarities almost as if they were
following a specific formula. In addition there were also some differences in... Show more content

To start off, the colors in the scenes were always very soft, almost like they were straight out of an
award winning Sundance festival film. Also, in every ad the main scenery was a very realistic
home; the type of house that the ideal modern, middle class family would own. The houses were
not too fancy but not too worn down. This shows that they were specifically appealing to America
s middle class, which most parents fit into. The characters were very happy, normal looking
children and young parents, across the board. All of these visual details tie into the emotional
response that they are trying to get out of the potential consumers. Creating a very sentimental and
well written dialogue is equally important, if not more than how the footage is presented. The other
main similarity that you will notice, is the insightful and thought provoking speech and sentiment
that is portrayed, as well as the music used in the commercials. In every single ad either the child
or the parent was supposedly narrating the entire clip. The goal was to create very meaningful
dialogue to go along with the equally meaningful scene. This is another way that the advertisers can
tap into the consumers brain and evoke a powerful emotional response that creates a lasting
memory. The main thing that was highlighted in the dialogue was the special bond that occurs
between mother and child, as well as father and child. While both dads and moms

Memorable Moments in America in Flags of Our Fathers by...
Flags of Our Fathers by James Bradley is the chronicle of one of the most memorable moments
in America s military history. James Bradley achieves to capture in this book, moments of
sadness, sorrow, majesty, and immortality of these six boys that raised the flag at Iwo Jima. The
picture that immortalized that moment tells a story that represents all men that survived and
died for America in that island. James Bradley s quest for answers, for knowledge and for
keeping the honor of these man alive, makes this book a true American History testimony. It was
only the replacement of a flag but it became the most famous picture in military history. James
Bradley s mission to bring these boys back to life, and forever keep them in the country s
memory makes this book an entertaining and horrifying war tale. The flag raisers as they were
called, were just six boys dreaming with the glory of war and the honor of combat. Unfortunately
none of that was found in 1945 when they landed in the sulfur island of Iwo Jima. Horror and death
were the only common themes in the lives of the men that fought for thirty five days against a ghost
enemy.
The boys made heroes were, John Doc Bradley, Rene Gagnon, Harlon Block, Franklin Sousley,
Mike Strank and Ira Hayes. When the war ended and John Bradley left the island back to his
home, he did not want to talk about Iwo Jima, the boys, the war or the raising of the flag. Much

Utilization Of Drones
In today s world, there has been leaps and bounds as far as advancements in technology. Smart
phones, artificial intelligence, self driving cars, and drones. Technology itself is rather
controversial to some. Some say that cell phones are brainwashing people, artificial intelligence
will take over the world. Self driving cars just can never be safe. When it comes to drones, an
entire new root system of controversy sprouts. Drones are remotely piloted airships that can
carry cargo or video cameras long distances, while the pilot sits at a stationary location. Drones
have been used to drop explosives overseas into war zones, and this is where the argument starts.
Should drone strikes be allowed abroad? Studies say, Sure, why not? The utilization of drone
strikes has vastly lowered the civilian death, or collateral damage, in war zones. Previous
weaponry, such as bombs, tanks, or mortars, have been the cause of forty to sixty seven percent of
the deaths of civilians. Since introducing drones, these percentages have dropped to eight to
seventeen percent. The accuracy of the strikes has greatly depleted the rates of civilian... Show more

Drones minimize the need for ground soldiers, and airplane pilots. Sending a ground crew can
raise the danger of a firefight, and sending in an aircraft pulls the risk of anti aircraft missiles.
Drones, of course, are still subject to these defense mechanisms, but if there s no one acting as a
live pilot, there is no way for it to be any danger for our military. Other threats eliminated in the
utilization of drones include weather, environmental conditions, land mines, and virtually anything
that could hinder or harm soldiers. Drones negate the danger of all of these, given the fact that
they are inanimate objects. To risk a simple piece of machinery is far preferable over risking a

attention. The villagers of Shiveria had begun to assemble at the center of the villagewhere the

would probably take less than 3 hours. The children ran from their homes, as they had the day off
from school because of the lottery. Bryan McCabe, a boy about 13, collected stones and filled up
his entire backpack with them. When they reached the villagecenter, they placed all their rocks in a

again since his son Alex won 25 years ago. After his 14 year old son won, he realized the faults
of the lottery and begged everyone to stop the tradition, but nobody listened. Everyone called
him insane for wanting to stop the lottery and claimed he was betraying every tradition they had.
He realized it was no use trying to protest and became quiet but deep inside he still silently despised
the lottery. Soon, Mr. Falls, the mayor of the village, took out a five legged wooden stool and

Alexander The Great Of Alexander Essay
Alexander became king of Macedonia after his the passing of his father, King Philip II. Within
this essay, the information of Alexander will come from three different sources, and be
compared to find the similarities in the history of Alexander amongst them. Alexand lived from
356 B.C.E. to 323 B.C.E., dying at the age of thirty two. The three sources used have many
similarities and broaden the history of Alexander, as they include more into the timeline of his
life. Referring to the textbook, the assassination of Philip II led to twenty year old Alexander
becoming the King of Macedonia. He is commonly referred to as Alexander the Great . He, like
his father, had a dream of invading the Persian Empire. The textbook mentions that Alexander
had claimed to be descended from the Greek Hero, Heracles. Alexander also mentioned that he
was pharaoh of Egypt. Going in order of the timeline, Alexander gained control into Asia minor
whenever he defeated Persian king Darius III at the battle of Issus 333 B.C.E. From there he he
extended control over Syria, Palestine, and Egypt. Another battle with the Persian led to victory,
whenever he fought at Gaugamela in 331 B.C.E.. The next move was to take over the Persian
treasuries in Babylon. Darius had fled and Alexander was on a quest to find him, but Darius III
was killed by his own men. With the control of the persians, he pushed his boundaries into

Legalization of Marijuana on the economy
If one were told that the United States had all of the answers to their economic issues growing
within their country wouldn t people take advantage of it? Even if the solution was currently
considered as an illegal substance. George Shaw stated, If history repeats itself, and the unexpected
always happens, how incapable must Man be of learning from experience. Mr. Shaw s wisdom
particularly applies to the current debate on the legalization of cannabis, and if it should be legal
state or nationwide. The present day prohibition on marijuana is not any different than the past
prohibition on alcohol in the roaring 20 s. The legalization of marijuana, similar to alcohol not only
means more money for the government, but also more revenue, jobs, and savings. The debate can
be tough to follow with all of the political jargon. Americans must keep in mind that is substantial
to find a solution to the lingering question, should marijuana be legalized? It is vital for the United
States to end the expensive and uneconomical prohibition. Besides the infinite reasons for
legalization such as ending panic over drugs, lowering crime rate and ending drug related pollution
there is one clear motive for legalization, the money. The Huffington Post reported The government
would save an estimated $13.7 billion on prohibition enforcement costs and tax revenue by
legalizing marijuana. How is it

Analysis Of The Letter Letter From The Holy Spirit
Letter to Utinger This letter is Zwingli s efforts of defending himself and dispelling false rumors
about him having inappropriate relations with a daughter of a high official. After saying how
he has taken a vow of celibacy and that studying theology and Scripture weakens any sensual
desires, he does concede that he had relations with her in a time of temptation. So, he denies the
rumors that he seduced her (and possibly raped her) and says that not only was the decision
mutual, but also that the entire town of Einsiedeln knew about it and did not care. Of the
Freedom of Choice in the Selection of Food After some of his friends broke the Lent fast by
eating some sausages, Zwingli used the opportunity to preach on this matter in 1522. He says
that the decision to fast or not to fast does not matter, so long as Christians are given a choice to
decide for themselves in the first place. His argument comes from the desire to listen and receive
guidance from the Holy Spirit. Besides, he says, the fasting of Lent and other seasons is yet
another form of works, and therefore does not matter in regards to salvation as only the grace of
God can save a person. Petition to the Bishop of Constance In light of his own relationship with
Anna Reinhard and the fact that other members of the clergy are taking wives for themselves,
Zwingli writes to the bishop to beg him not to oppose or interfere in the matter of married clergy.
Vows of celibacy are for the very few, Zwingli

The Indian Independence Movement
The history of the Indian Independence Movement against the British in the 20th Century was
evidently influenced and motivated by the underlying differences and perceptions of communal
identities. The freedom struggle in essence was also an assertion of the interests and aspirations of
the diverse communities of the Indian subcontinent. The Indian National Congressand the Muslim
League were the two big powers that sought to mobilize public sentiments in the quest for
Independence. While the Muslim League (formed in 1906), stood as a symbol of Islamic
nationalism, the INC on the other hand was seen as pro Hindu (with a strong influence of radical
groups like the Hindu Mahasabha).
Mohammad Ali Jinnah, initially a Congress nationalist, joined the Muslim League in 1913 in order
to align the views of the two communities in their collective struggle for freedom. The result was
The Lucknow Pact which laid down the constitutional framework of seat and power sharing
arrangements for elections to the Provincial Legislative Councils. Muslims were provided with
separate electorates and one third representation in the Central government. Congress that claimed
to fight only for secular goals and considered religion as a private matter of individual granted the
separate electorates for Muslim went against their very own ideologies. This lead to the settlement

Gay cites Bill Cosby and Don Lemon to illustrate this problem. Bill Cosby had long been
respected and often seen as a father figure too, in the black community. At a 2004 NAACP
ceremony, Cosby made a similar speech to his op ed for the New York Post, admonishing the
working class black community and essentially blaming them for their financial dilemmas,
dubbed as the Pound Cake Speech . Don Lemon is the second special case cited; Lemon attempts
to shame black men for sagging their pants by making a farfetched claim that the act is linked to
prison homosexual intercourse. Lemon is a gay black man but still, through his views, shows that
he sees the white heterosexual male as the cultural ideal. The rest of Lemon s comments reiterate
the same dialogue of respectability politics Cosby used, that if black people worked harder and
presented themselves better they would gain acceptance from White America. These black men,
like many other black people, have bought into this same If one then all logical fallacy about racial
oppression; that if they managed to bypass white supremacy, then other black people have no

ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS
1. Cash normally consists of coins and currency on hand, bank deposits, and various kinds of
orders for cash such as bank checks, money orders, travelers checks, demand bills of exchange,
bank drafts, and cashiers checks. Balances on deposit in banks which are subject to immediate
withdrawal are properly included in cash. Money market funds that provide checking account
privileges may be classified as cash. There is some question as to whether deposits not subject to
immediate withdrawal are properly included in cash or whether they should be set out separately.
Savings accounts, time certificates of deposit, and time deposits fall in this latter category. Unless
restrictions on these kinds of deposits are such that they cannot be converted (withdrawn) within
one year or the operating cycle of the entity, whichever is longer, they are properly classified as
current assets. At the same time, they may well be presented separately

Anatomy Of A Kimono Essay
The artwork I choose to write about is relevant to gender, sexuality, women, and gender roles.
The name of my chosen piece is Anatomy of a Kimono. This piece was completed in 1974 by
Canadian American artist, Miriam Schapiro. The art piece was created using a multitude of
fabrics that could be found in traditional Japanese kimonos as well as acrylic paint. These various
forms of media were combined on a canvas. In order to assemble the fabric based materials of her
work, Miriam Schapiro collected scraps of silk and handkerchiefs from the various places that she
visited. The different materials Schapiro used were then assembled into ten, large, Japanese style
panels that resembled abstract expressionism. The fabrics represented women s influence... Show

A large part of Schapiro s goal for this piece was to explain the relationship that women have with
creating certain fabrics and designs and the great deal of skill involved. She described her work
as a collage of the beauty created by women. The piece empowers women and cleverly reveals
them as incredibly intelligent artists who subtly possess the skills required to create extremely
complex works of art and craft that blend in with the everyday life. Another main point of
Miriam Schapiro s message is that women should occupy an equal, if not greater amount of
space in comparison with men. The large size of her piece clearly demonstrates this thought
process. In relation, the content of her piece brings to the forefront, the significant ideas that
women and women alone are pioneering new ideologies in terms of their unique artistic style and
culture. During a time when sexism was still very prevalent in society, women were finding their
own special ways to break the mold and distinguish themselves from men and in turn, explore and
practice new skills that go beyond the abilities of men at the time. In addition to this, the subtle
inclusion of embroidered names of women within the minutiae of the artwork also helps develop a
significant focus on driving away the generalizations of women and establish bold, yet almost
silent ways to prove the individualistic characteristics of every women to the rest of the world.
Furthermore, the inclusion of many vibrant colors and rich textures included in the composition of
The Anatomy of a Kimono help to exemplify the strong personalities of female artists, specifically,
the millions of unknown female artists who worked hard to support themselves and their loved
ones. The art piece does not hold back on its strong theme of women s strength

SAT Testing Research Paper
SAT test preparation might not produce desired results if it does not teach you strategies to solve
problems in the right way. Most students who undergo SAT test preparation are pretty familiar
with the SAT test pattern. Being good at one of the sections does not guarantee a good SAT exam
score. To aid you in your SAT test
preparation let me share with you a few strategies that I also use
in my tutoring.
Let us talk about the Math section first. The SAT test, according to many, carries complex math
problems. This is far from being true. Actually, SAT math consists of basic math questions. Unlike
many other tests, the SAT does not ask questions from pre calculus, calculus or trigonometry. This
does not at all mean that you would encounter

Essay about Mirrors Don’t Lie in Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. s...
Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. s The Lie Mirrors Don t Lie
In The Lie by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., Eli Remenzel is a thirteen year old boy on his way to The
Whitehill Preparatory School with his parents. Little do they know that Eli is keeping a big
secret from them: he didn t get accepted to the school. As the story unfolds Eli finally cracks
under the pressure of the lie as the headmaster informs his parents that he wasn t accepted at
Whitehill. What happens next is a disaster. As I was reading the story I noticed a lot of qualities in
the different characters that are traits I see in myself. Eli, his mother Sylvia, and his father Doctor

I really dislike this trait in myself, so when I read it in Eli I took an immediate disliking to his
character in trying to suppress my own feelings about myself. But this is not the only flaw I noticed
about myself from the story.
Eli s mother Sylvia and I also have a lot in common. Through out the entire story she was enraptured
in talking about how many Remenzels had attended the Whitehill School and what contributions
they had made to it. She stated during one part of the drive to the school:
I look through this catalog, and I see all the buildings named after Remenzels, look through the
back and see all the hundreds of dollars given by Remenzels for scholarships, and I just can t help
thinking people named Remenzel are entitled to ask for a little something extra.
She was, infact, so enthralled by this information and talking of the school that she failed to notice
the strange and awkward behavior of her son. Again, it took reading the story a few times to
understand that this is another unattractive quality that I possess. I have the ability to become
overly involved in things and I forget to pay attention and listen to the people around me. What
particularly stood out in my mind and made me aware of this similarity was Sylvia s excessive
repetition of the word I. To me it represents her attention only being focused on what she

sex friend and a friend to other opposite sex people are shown in Fig.1 (women s rating for
attractiveness of male dates) and Fig.2 (men s rating for attractiveness of female dates). In Fig.1

than 5 out of 10 in the scales, but women never gave men with low willingness such high ratings in
all four categories of attractiveness.

Secession Dbq Essay
During the 1850s, the political climate in America was one of tension, turmoil, and division.
Although there was great opposition for the scandalous Kansas Nebraska Act of 1854, the bill
passed and resulted in the creation of the Republican party. The creation of a new political party
portrayed a division among specific regional states within America. Ultimately, disagreement with
the Union brought forth the topic of secession. In 1861, Texas Governor Sam Houston faced a
difficult decision: to favor or oppose the secession of Texas. Union Sam Houston: The idea of
secession could be an act of defiance, rather than defense. Inherently, our rights are not being
stripped from us. Under the constitution, our rights as individuals and of the state... Show more

The Union wishes to suppress and maybe even outlaw slavery, while we aim to expand slavery.
The Union supported a free Kansas while we proposed for the state to decide whether they
would allow slavery. If we stay in the Union, the desire to abolish slavery may be forced upon us.
Slavery is the backbone of our economy and we must preserve it. Union Sam Houston: On the
other hand, it might just be better to stay together. We are legitimized as a Union and are
recognized by foreign affairs. This impacts our trade which promotes a stabilized economy and
nation. We are stronger together and differences can be worked on through compromise.
Secession Sam Houston: Compromise may be out of the picture because we have experienced
wrongdoings by the Union. For instance, the Union s violation of returning our fugitive slaves
under the Fugitive Slave Law is unacceptable. Additionally, it would be more ideal to have the
ability of setting our own tariffs and slave policy. The idea of compromise is naive and may
continue leading to the suppression of Southern desires. Union Sam Houston: Maybe we are just
not willing to sacrifice our own interests for such compromise. If we voice our interest to work
together, we could avoid violence. Essentially, persisting with secession could lead to a civil

lamb, a more meaty fish such as salmon or tuna. Your dishes can be complimented with black
olives, fresh herbs, mushrooms, berries and dried cherries. A tender, milder cut of beef, such as a
tenderloin makes for an excellent choice when serving a Merlot. I always found it most enjoyable
to take a bite of the tenderloin and then a sip of Merlot and let the flavors just mesh on the palate.
When it comes to choosing a wine to serve with particular meals there are some basics that you
should follow to get the most enjoyment from the wine. Be certain to sample different makers of

theories have been developed and presented in order to lend guidance for purposeful and

The assessment of stimuli, both internal and external, can reveal that which can influence the
adaptive behavior. Nursing process continues with nursing diagnosis, goal setting, interventions,
including a plan of care, and lastly, evaluation of the intervention and how it relates to the nursing
goals established (Nursing Theory, 2013). Applying Roy s Theory in Nursing Practice To support
excellence in nursing practice, Roy s Adaptation Model (RAM) guides nurses in developing
effective care through the use of reasoning, critical thinking, and decision making. With a focus on
adaptation, RAM can be utilized as a framework to conceptualize and plan individualized patient
care or may be applied in a limited context to develop interventions for distinct clinical populations
(Senesac, 2013). Through the nursing process, patients are assisted in adapting, or coping, to
changes within their environments. The process begins with an assessment of the patient s adaptive
behavior as well as stimuli in the external and internal environments. Based on these evaluations,
the nurse develops nursing diagnoses and interventions to guide goal setting and increase successful
adaptations or coping mechanisms (Chitty Black, 2007). Simply stated, the nurse modifies the
environment to promote and facilitate patient adaptation and restore balance. Adaptation is
observed through modifications in behavior. In the context of RAM, four modes of

Ethical Issues Of Marketing Ethics
Introduction
According to Thomas Donaldson and Patricia Werhane, Ethics can be defined as the study of
whatever is right and good for humans. Ethics are defined as rules of behavior, code of conduct,
ability to distinguish between the good and the bad. In general, ethical marketing is a process
through which an organization or a company sells its products and services by using the fair means
of ethical principles there by creating a strong customer relationship resulting in an increased value
of stakeholders. Therefore, marketing principles includes a fair and true level in marketing
communications, respecting the privacy of its customers, obeying and following the government
regulations in addition to the standards set by the marketers. The U.S.Constitution (Kennedy s
Consumer Bill of Rights 1962) provides protection for basic consumer rights as long as they meet
five basic conditions:
пѓ Right to Safety
пѓ Right to be Informed
пѓ Right to Selection
пѓ Right to Confidentiality

Marketing ethics has been receiving increased research attention, particularly from the past 10
years. Alen J. Dubinsky Barbara Loken. Ethical issues can be defined as a situation or problem in
which a company or an individual has to decide what the right thing as per ethics is or what is
wrong unethically. These issues can occur in any organization and are very common. The most

The Treatment Of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
The family will typically sacrifice their own needs to take care of the veteran who has returned.
When a family member begins to place the veteran s health, welfare and needs before their own,
they can lose contact with their own needs, desires, and sense of self: becoming co dependent
(Mental Health America). The family has good intentions by taking care of the veteran who is
experiencing difficulty, but the caretaking becomes compulsive and defeating. Co dependents often
take on a martyr s role. The problem is that these repeated rescue attempts allow the needy
individual to continue on a destructive course and to become even more dependent on the
unhealthy caretaking of the family. As this reliance increases, the co dependent... Show more

Delusions In Hitchcock s Psycho
The next symptom of psychosis is delusions. Delusions are unwavering mistaken beliefs.
Specifically, it is beliefs that are widely accepted to be false or are contradicted by facts. The
difficulty in identifying delusions in literature is that every delusional person has their own
mental fallacies. Since it is next to impossible to tell what a fictional character is thinking, much
less what is believed, only the effect of the delusions can be analyzed. Norman Bates from Robert
Bloch s novel, Psycho, later immortalized in Alfred Hitchcock s film by the same title, is a prime
example of the misrepresentation of delusional behaviors. The primary reasons that Norman Bates
is not truly a delusional character is because he accepts that Norma Bates, Mother , is deceased, he
accepts that he has a separate identity than Mother, and most importantly, he has distinct memories
that contradict the beliefs of Mother, therefore, he is able to recall, internalize, and act upon these
memories. As a child Norman was taught by his mother that amorous activities were sinful and
wrong and all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

an extreme fear of something that could never actually occur. The person who is experiencing

symptoms of clinical paranoia. Throughout the novel Dolarhyde knows that the red dragon is not

  • 3. Essay On The Reconstruction Plan After the Civil War there was nothing for the soldiers to do so they went back home. In doing so Lincoln announced his Reconstruction plan called the Ten Percent Plan, which needed ten percent of the Southern states to take an Oath of Loyalty in order to be admitted back into the Union. This aroused some disagreement between the Republicans and the President. The North wanted Lincoln to punish the South severely for their acts but he denied them and said that he was going to forgive and forget and acted like they never had seceded from the Union. The Republicans were angered when they heard that the South basically got off free without a punishment and wanted the South to have to do more than just take an Oath in order to be part of the Union... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the North in power the South could do nothing but try to regain their freedom, when Abraham Lincoln was killed by John Wilkes Booth they noticed that it was going to be even harder since there was no President on their side anymore. When Andrew Johnson came into power the North were happy because they thought that he was anti South, but he was not. Johnson went along with Lincoln s Ten Percent Plan giving the South some support. The North at this act planned to impeach Johnson from Presidency but the farthest that they got was limiting his power. Johnson did not get impeached but instead was saved by the Seven Martyrs who took the risk of being shunned by friends and family. The North now having a lot of power decided to help the freed slaves by passing the Fourteenth Amendment which prevented high confederate officials from holding office. They also insisted that the South give the freed slaves the right to vote. The North being mostly Republicans had power of the South and wanted to have the strong hold on the Reconstruction plan. Getting You Yes, By Roger Fisher And William Ury In the novel, Getting to Yes, Roger Fisher and William Ury articulate that [A]ny method of negotiation may be fairly judged by three criteria: It should produce a wise agreement if agreement is possible. It should be efficient. And it should improve or at least not damage the relationship between the parties. 1 In academia the concept that Fisher and Ury describe is known as integrative negotiation a win win process, based on pursuing interests, that focus upon an ongoing relationship between negotiating parties. 2 Although this concept appears simplistic, its efficient outcome is rarely achieved. Far too often negotiators fall quarry to distributing resources, instead of using creativity to expand the pie . However, the ability to negotiate, like any skill, can be improved. Over the course of six business negotiation simulations, students, Katelyn Burke and Emilie Croonenberghs, aimed to advance their negotiation skills. Each case provided an opportunity to discover the key fallacies associated with negotiation and, more importantly, how different factors can affect bargaining. By implementing scientific research and applying formal knowledge the students aimed to reflect on each business simulation starting with Biopharm Seltek and concluding with Mexico Venture. Negotiation 1: The Biopharm Seltek Negotiation is the interpersonal decision making process necessary whenever [individuals] cannot achieve their objectives single handedly. 5 Although ... • 7. Cancer Cancer is defined as a disease cause by the uncontrolled division of abnormal cells inside a part of the body. Mutations to specific genes or regions of DNA contribute to the presentation of these abnormal cells as well as the ability for these cells to divide uncontrollably throughout the body. For many years, the standard route of treatment for those who have been diagnosed with canceris to use chemotherapyor radiation therapy. Although these therapies have been considered to be the standard of care for cancer treatment for many decades, the toxic side effects that are also associated with these therapies can be just as devastating as the disease itself. Other formulations of TKIs include erlotinib (Tarceva), canertinib, vatalanib, dasatinib, and sorafenib to name a few. This manuscript will be discussing Imatinib Mesylate in further detail and reviewing many of the pharmacological and antitumor and anticancer properties of the drug in more detail. The use and increased acceptance towards targeted cancer therapies is not without its imperfections. As with any medication or therapy, not every individual is the same and the overall response rates may change from person to person and from population to population. As more research is done, the introduction of new inhibitors as well as the improvement of current inhibitors will help to increase the overall response rate in patients as well as help to increase the ability for patients to receive even more selective and specific care for their disease. To gain a better understanding and overall appreciation for the creation and implementation of targeted therapies, it is important to look at previous standards of care for the treatment of cancers and tumors. Conventional chemotherapy, when directed in the direction of specific cells in the body, does not do a very good job at being able to discriminate between normal, healthy dividing cells and tumorigenic cells. This can lead to many different toxic side effects ranging from fatigue and anemia to excessive vomiting, hair loss and in some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Positive Importance Of The Halo Effect Managers or coaches should know that sometimes their expectations can be formed by the Halo effect (a psychological phenomenon that allows a general opinion of someone, to be gathered from only one element). Despite the fact that influence of the Halo effect, as well as any other perceptual effect, can have both negative and positive consequences, initial elimination of them will do managers more objective. The race, gender, age, educational level and class biases, which are rooted in stereotypes, also, influence the level of expectations that leaders have for employees. Another factor that has its influence on the result of this conception is employees acceptance or resistance. People tend to respond positively to a manager s high expectations and confidence in their abilities. Although, some employees are resistant to the Pygmalion effect, especially, when they receive biased feedback. Of course, this doesn t mean that managers should always seek for employee s acceptance. Careful consideration of target personality and a possibility of resistance can alter employee s behaviour and trigger powerful effects. Some employees, particularly with a strong sense of their own, often strive to disprove inaccurate/unappealing expectations by inspiring imaginative and creative thinking. As usual, this happens when targeted employees are to discount negative expectations and use other sources such as from peers or other co workers to form their perceptions of how competent or ... • 10. To Kill A Mockingbird Society Analysis In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee uses Jem, Scout, and Dill to help the reader view certain aspects of society in a different way by using social class, being a woman, and racism. Children are more open minded than adults, so they view the world in a distinct way compared to them. Most of society is stuck in their ways and are only able to see the world in one perspective, while the kids are are trying to develop their own view of the world . The kids morals are unlike many people s in the town, so this gives the reader a different perspective of Maycomb /society. For instance, one way that Jem helps the reader see a new aspect of society that would not normally be seen is, how unfair the social classes in Maycomb are. All the ... In the text it says I could not possibly hope to be a lady if I wore breeches; when I said I could do nothing in a dress, she said I wasn t supposed to be doing things that required pants. (262) Scout is so used to her tomboyish ways of dressing/acting that it is very foreign to her when she has to act like Alexandra s vision of a lady. Aunt Alexandra was always persistent about Scout being a certain type of lady with a bunch of strict rules, but Scout was not going down without a fight. Also when Jem says, You know she s not used to girls, said Jem, leastways, not girls like you. She s trying to make you a lady. Can t you take up sewin or somethin ? (232) This hits Scout harder than when Alexander tells her to be a lady because Scout had always been Jem s little sidekick. The kids were close, but when he pushed her away like this it hurt Scout emotionally. Being called a girl was considered an insult, but now that s what Jem wants Scout to be now. Finally Scout learns that sometimes it is commendable to be a lady, such as when her father told her and the other women that Tom had died. Scout pulled it together like the rest of the women and made it so that no one in the missionary society ever knew anything was ever wrong. Jem still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Ethics Of The Corporate Veil Introduction The corporate veil is a term that refers to the concept of treating a corporation as a separate legal entity from its shareholders and thus bestowing upon it separate rights, obligations and liabilities. In the landmark case of Salomon v Salomon, the court stated that the liability of company shareholders is limited only to the extent of their capital contributions. The court also explained that since companies are separate legal entities from shareholders, they are separately liable for debt and obligatory responsibilities. However, there have been special circumstances where English courts have found it necessary to lift the corporate veil for the sake of delivering justice. Although such instances are rare, the possibility of lifting the corporate veil has generated controversy. Such controversy primarily revolves around the uncertainty of circumstances in which lifting the corporate veil is necessary. I have chosen this book because of my many connections to England. Several years ago, I was provided the opportunity to undertake graduate studies at Westfield House, and attached House of Fitzwilliam College which is part of Cambridge University. During my time in Cambridge, I was able to travel the country and visit many of the places my ancestors called home. Having a cousin who still resides in Kettering, due North of London, and parents who have just retired from living in Wales, I have a long appreciation for the people and heritage of this small country. It is these appreciations that have lead me to my choice of Blythe s (1999) book. After having ordered the book through Amazon, I finally received my copy on Friday. I have been able to navigate through the introduction and first two chapters of the book. Akenfield, is not the name of an actual village, but is rather a pen name given to this East Anglian village as a means of protecting the identities of those involved in the study (Blythe, 1999). The lower the miles per gallon (mpg) a vehicle has the greater the amount of fuel needed to reach destinations. Armed with this knowledge, the United States government, through various agencies, set forth a plan regulation to be followed by the industry in an attempt to lower vehicle emissions. On the heels of the 2011 fuel standards Cash for Clunkers that called for a reduction of emissions in heavy duty vehicles, the Obama Administration has introduced new fuel and emissions regulations and standards for the whole American Automotive Industry. These regulations, on light duty and heavy duty vehicles, that have been passed by the administration are a joint effort by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), The National program for greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Though there are various procedures the meat of the regulation is that by 2025 fleets of vehicles would need to get an average of 54.5 mpg. In John Milton s Paradise Lost, the parallelism between Satan and Eve s fall is strong in that they were once both the highest before pure perfection. Lucifer is associated with evil, which stems from his free will leading to his rebellion against God and, ultimately, his great fall. He is known as the one who introduces sinto Adam and Evethe first humans to ever exist. His plan to go against God is the beginning of a whole new world to the universe and a whole new significance of himself as the one known for human error and evil. However, craving independence from God ferociously backfires on Satan when he finds out that even after leaving hell, he cannot escape it, which way [he] [flies] is Hell, [he] [himself] is Hell, (IV, 75). Satan finds his way to revolt against and separate from God to overrule Heaven and become king, instead however, he takes on the role of the representation of all evil which is evidently seen in his interactions with Eve. Eve s hunger to become independent from Adam and all she is commanded to do is similar to Satan s situation in that their yearn for power and singular identity lead them to revolt against their creator. Her desire to separate from Adam is first seen when she is introduced to the audience in her state of narcissism. She sees a reflection of herself in a pond and is in awe of her beauty of sympathy and love, (IV, 465) which shows the parallelism to Satan s own arrogant vanity. He catches on to this similarity they share and decides she will be an easy target of persuasion. He quickly takes charge and plans how he will lead her to eat the apple from the Tree of Knowledge, which is the only tree that God prohibited to pick fruit from. • 24. Analysis Of The Book From The Brain By Tobias Wolff Perhaps we do not realize the impact of the petty things we have experienced when life itself flashes before our eyes. Even though our lives are composed of countless moments to remember, sometimes we do not understand how they slowly shape who we are and how we see the world. This is what Tobias Wolff suggests in his short story, Bullet in the Brain . The story focuses on the internal journey of a man named Anders when his life comes to a close. A well crafted look into the memories of Anders gives readers distaste for all he takes for granted and demonstrates his lack of sympathy. The story begins with Anders in line at a bank. After one of the tellers closes her line and all the patrons become impatient, two bank robbers with guns enter the bank. The robbers cuff the security guard and begin demanding money from the tellers. Anders makes too many sarcastic and critical comments, and as a consequence, one of the bank robbers shoots him in the head with a pistol. The entire second part of the short story focuses on the thoughts Anders experiences as the bullet travels through his brain. The narrator begins to discuss many seemingly irrelevant memories from his life, and surfaces how he does not think about or remember any of those moments as his life comes to a close. Instead, the narrator ends the story with Anders recalling a time from his childhood where him and his friends were playing baseball, and tells how a particular phrase his friend uses makes him feel aroused. ... Using this technique, he seems to always focus on three main aspects: justice, virtue, and morality. Socrates claims that he has no wisdom. He states, I know I have no wisdom, great or small. The world has an infinite number of possibilities and anything he declares understanding, is extremely minimal compared to the possibilities that exist in the world, there is so much out there that hasn t been exposed yet. Socrates had many thoughts and ideas over things people never even took time to think about. He thought differently and always more intensely than others. Socrates says that knowledge is essential to a person. He concluded that a person s evil and wrong actions come from their ignorance and their failure to investigate. He was also convinced that no one knowingly does wrong, if a person does not know what is right, then that person will do wrong, but in the other hand, if the person knows what is right, they will most definitely do right. He once mentioned that the unexamined life is not worth living introducing the idea of Universal Definitions, meaning although individual things may vary and be constructed differently the definitions of how they are similar, are permanent. A treaty totally banning biological warfare was drawn up by the Geneva Disarmament Conference in 1971 and approved by the United Nations General Assembly. The supposed faithful friends display their true cruelty and expose their hypocrisy in relation to the Pardoner s character. One main theme in The Wife of Bath s Tale is female dominance and equality. In the tale, the wife portrays her dominance through her own experience. For example, the image of the whip sets her role as master, and she tells everyone that she is the head of her household. Despite her claim that experience is her sole power, the Wife of Bath evidently feels the need to create her authority in a more scholarly manner. She mimics the habits of the scholars and churchmen by supporting her claims with quotations from antique works and scripture. The Wife of Bath apparently attempts to emphasize female dominance over men. She contradicts many of the harsh customs and declares her own haughty assessment of women s function in society and in relationships. Also, in every ad the main scenery was a very realistic home; the type of house that the ideal modern, middle class family would own. The houses were not too fancy but not too worn down. This shows that they were specifically appealing to America s middle class, which most parents fit into. The characters were very happy, normal looking children and young parents, across the board. All of these visual details tie into the emotional response that they are trying to get out of the potential consumers. Creating a very sentimental and well written dialogue is equally important, if not more than how the footage is presented. The other main similarity that you will notice, is the insightful and thought provoking speech and sentiment that is portrayed, as well as the music used in the commercials. In every single ad either the child or the parent was supposedly narrating the entire clip. The goal was to create very meaningful dialogue to go along with the equally meaningful scene. This is another way that the advertisers can tap into the consumers brain and evoke a powerful emotional response that creates a lasting memory. After his 14 year old son won, he realized the faults of the lottery and begged everyone to stop the tradition, but nobody listened. Everyone called him insane for wanting to stop the lottery and claimed he was betraying every tradition they had. Within this essay, the information of Alexander will come from three different sources, and be compared to find the similarities in the history of Alexander amongst them. Alexand lived from 356 B.C.E. to 323 B.C.E., dying at the age of thirty two. The three sources used have many similarities and broaden the history of Alexander, as they include more into the timeline of his life. Referring to the textbook, the assassination of Philip II led to twenty year old Alexander becoming the King of Macedonia. He is commonly referred to as Alexander the Great . He, like his father, had a dream of invading the Persian Empire. The textbook mentions that Alexander had claimed to be descended from the Greek Hero, Heracles. Alexander also mentioned that he was pharaoh of Egypt. Going in order of the timeline, Alexander gained control into Asia minor whenever he defeated Persian king Darius III at the battle of Issus 333 B.C.E. From there he he extended control over Syria, Palestine, and Egypt. Another battle with the Persian led to victory, whenever he fought at Gaugamela in 331 B.C.E.. The next move was to take over the Persian treasuries in Babylon. Darius had fled and Alexander was on a quest to find him, but Darius III was killed by his own men. With the control of the persians, he pushed his boundaries into Northwest India. Winning a brutally fought battle at the Hydaspes river, took a toll on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even if the solution was currently considered as an illegal substance. George Shaw stated, If history repeats itself, and the unexpected always happens, how incapable must Man be of learning from experience. Mr. Shaw s wisdom particularly applies to the current debate on the legalization of cannabis, and if it should be legal state or nationwide. The present day prohibition on marijuana is not any different than the past prohibition on alcohol in the roaring 20 s. The legalization of marijuana, similar to alcohol not only means more money for the government, but also more revenue, jobs, and savings. The debate can be tough to follow with all of the political jargon. Americans must keep in mind that is substantial to find a solution to the lingering question, should marijuana be legalized? It is vital for the United States to end the expensive and uneconomical prohibition. Besides the infinite reasons for legalization such as ending panic over drugs, lowering crime rate and ending drug related pollution there is one clear motive for legalization, the money. The Huffington Post reported The government would save an estimated $13.7 billion on prohibition enforcement costs and tax revenue by legalizing marijuana. How is it ... • 38. Analysis Of The Letter Letter From The Holy Spirit Letter to Utinger This letter is Zwingli s efforts of defending himself and dispelling false rumors about him having inappropriate relations with a daughter of a high official. After saying how he has taken a vow of celibacy and that studying theology and Scripture weakens any sensual desires, he does concede that he had relations with her in a time of temptation. So, he denies the rumors that he seduced her (and possibly raped her) and says that not only was the decision mutual, but also that the entire town of Einsiedeln knew about it and did not care. Of the Freedom of Choice in the Selection of Food After some of his friends broke the Lent fast by eating some sausages, Zwingli used the opportunity to preach on this matter in 1522. He says that the decision to fast or not to fast does not matter, so long as Christians are given a choice to decide for themselves in the first place. His argument comes from the desire to listen and receive guidance from the Holy Spirit. Besides, he says, the fasting of Lent and other seasons is yet another form of works, and therefore does not matter in regards to salvation as only the grace of God can save a person. Petition to the Bishop of Constance In light of his own relationship with Anna Reinhard and the fact that other members of the clergy are taking wives for themselves, Zwingli writes to the bishop to beg him not to oppose or interfere in the matter of married clergy. The freedom struggle in essence was also an assertion of the interests and aspirations of the diverse communities of the Indian subcontinent. The Indian National Congressand the Muslim League were the two big powers that sought to mobilize public sentiments in the quest for Independence. While the Muslim League (formed in 1906), stood as a symbol of Islamic nationalism, the INC on the other hand was seen as pro Hindu (with a strong influence of radical groups like the Hindu Mahasabha). Mohammad Ali Jinnah, initially a Congress nationalist, joined the Muslim League in 1913 in order to align the views of the two communities in their collective struggle for freedom. The result was The Lucknow Pact which laid down the constitutional framework of seat and power sharing arrangements for elections to the Provincial Legislative Councils. Muslims were provided with separate electorates and one third representation in the Central government. At a 2004 NAACP ceremony, Cosby made a similar speech to his op ed for the New York Post, admonishing the working class black community and essentially blaming them for their financial dilemmas, dubbed as the Pound Cake Speech . Don Lemon is the second special case cited; Lemon attempts to shame black men for sagging their pants by making a farfetched claim that the act is linked to prison homosexual intercourse. Lemon is a gay black man but still, through his views, shows that he sees the white heterosexual male as the cultural ideal. This piece was completed in 1974 by Canadian American artist, Miriam Schapiro. The art piece was created using a multitude of fabrics that could be found in traditional Japanese kimonos as well as acrylic paint. These various forms of media were combined on a canvas. In order to assemble the fabric based materials of her work, Miriam Schapiro collected scraps of silk and handkerchiefs from the various places that she visited. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A large part of Schapiro s goal for this piece was to explain the relationship that women have with creating certain fabrics and designs and the great deal of skill involved. She described her work as a collage of the beauty created by women. The piece empowers women and cleverly reveals them as incredibly intelligent artists who subtly possess the skills required to create extremely complex works of art and craft that blend in with the everyday life. Another main point of Miriam Schapiro s message is that women should occupy an equal, if not greater amount of space in comparison with men. The large size of her piece clearly demonstrates this thought process. In relation, the content of her piece brings to the forefront, the significant ideas that women and women alone are pioneering new ideologies in terms of their unique artistic style and culture. During a time when sexism was still very prevalent in society, women were finding their own special ways to break the mold and distinguish themselves from men and in turn, explore and practice new skills that go beyond the abilities of men at the time. In addition to this, the subtle inclusion of embroidered names of women within the minutiae of the artwork also helps develop a significant focus on driving away the generalizations of women and establish bold, yet almost silent ways to prove the individualistic characteristics of every women to the rest of the world. Furthermore, the inclusion of many vibrant colors and rich textures included in the composition of The Anatomy of a Kimono help to exemplify the strong personalities of female artists, specifically, the millions of unknown female artists who worked hard to support themselves and their loved ones. • 54. Apple Iphone Attack Recently, the FBI has asked Apple to create a backdoor into IPhones, allowing the government and anyone with access, to bypass security and access the data in an IPhone. The main reason that this has become such a popular issue is because of the aftermath of the San Bernardino attack. One of the attackers, Syed Farook, had an IPhonethat is believed to have been used to communicate with other ISIS members. The FBI has been unable to open the phone, and is now asking Apple for a backdoor into the phone, which Apple promptly declined. If a backdoor is generated for all IPhones, anyone with the key to unlock the backdoor will have access to the entire world s supply of data on IPhones, ranging from a middle schooler s IPhone to the CEO of a... If Apple wins, then IPhones stay secure, but the IPhones from many criminals will remain locked. If the government wins, they will have access to all the IPhones in the country, but will also be able to use the backdoor in criminal and counterterrorist cases. In this case, Apple winning has a better outcome than the FBI winning, because Apple winning is a win for personal and national ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. The Treatment Of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder The family will typically sacrifice their own needs to take care of the veteran who has returned. When a family member begins to place the veteran s health, welfare and needs before their own, they can lose contact with their own needs, desires, and sense of self: becoming co dependent (Mental Health America). The family has good intentions by taking care of the veteran who is experiencing difficulty, but the caretaking becomes compulsive and defeating. Co dependents often take on a martyr s role. The problem is that these repeated rescue attempts allow the needy individual to continue on a destructive course and to become even more dependent on the unhealthy caretaking of the family. As this reliance increases, the co dependent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bottom line as to why the Union had won was clear and it as because of their ability to cope with the situation in a way that would be realistic and they had more than enough people going to war compared to the South. The North had weapons and men that were able to fight the war with easy access to weapons, the South had weapons but not enough men to fight for them during the war. • 57. Delusions In Hitchcock s Psycho The next symptom of psychosis is delusions. Delusions are unwavering mistaken beliefs. Specifically, it is beliefs that are widely accepted to be false or are contradicted by facts. The difficulty in identifying delusions in literature is that every delusional person has their own mental fallacies. Since it is next to impossible to tell what a fictional character is thinking, much less what is believed, only the effect of the delusions can be analyzed. Norman Bates from Robert Bloch s novel, Psycho, later immortalized in Alfred Hitchcock s film by the same title, is a prime example of the misrepresentation of delusional behaviors. The primary reasons that Norman Bates is not truly a delusional character is because he accepts that Norma Bates, Mother , is deceased, he accepts that he has a separate identity than Mother, and most importantly, he has distinct memories that contradict the beliefs of Mother, therefore, he is able to recall, internalize, and act upon these memories. As a child Norman was taught by his mother that amorous activities were sinful and wrong and all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
