Graphic design is a creative and demanding career. To be successful in this profession you must
be willing to delicate the time and effort required for success. The main role of the graphic
designer is to determine what message they want to portray for a specific audience, as well as
designing and/creating visuals that represent the message. The graphic designerdevelops the overall
layout of the project using a wide variety of creative tools to communicate a message. Throughout
the paper, I will discuss various aspects about graphic designand the designers themselves. On
average, a graphic designer will make between $40,000 and $50,000 per year. Salary is determined
by a number of factors such as, experience, size of company and location of employer. Larger
companies, like Bell and Rogers, will usually pay more than smaller clients like libraries. Bell and

Compare And Contrast Walt Whitman And I Too Sing America...
How are you known? A last name is what defines them, it tells their past. It tells what they should
be like in relation to ancestors. When the word amerca comes to mind do you consider it part of
you? Walt whitman was a man that was born in New York, he knew what america came from.
Whitman wrote a poem called I Hear America Singing. In this poem he tells of citizens doing their
job or daily duty while singing America. Later on in history a man named Langston Hughes, he was
an African americanpoet during the Harlem Renissance. This was a time period that allowed
Afican Americans Poetry to be taken seriously. Langston wrote a poem that struck the hearts of
all people, it is called I, Too, Sing Amerca, this poem expands on how hard Africna Americans
had it. They had to take care of everything for their meals, and after all of that they were sent to
eat their shares in the kitchen away from everyone. This poem was thought to be a response to
whitmans poem. in these poems that have some of the same characteristics, one of which is what
people do to be an american, another is the structure or outline of the poem, finally they also
explain how proud people are to be an American.
Support 1:
One comparison of the two poems is describing what people do to be an American. Whitman
describes different people and how they show living like an american. One example from his
poem is, The shoemaker singing as he sits on his bench, the hatter singing as he stands, He tells of

The Industrial Revolution Caused A Major Development...
The Industrial Revolution caused a major development in social history with major changes in
manufacturing, transportation, and agriculture that had an intense effect on socioeconomic and
cultural conditions in Europe that then spread to North America and eventually around the world,
influencing almost every aspect of everyday life and society. Looking through sources from the
time period, it is easy to see how lives were changed due to the advancements in technology that
improved manufacturing, agriculture, and transportation. After intently studying these phenomena,
many Historians agree that all of these major changes were the main effect of the Industrial
Revolution, but they may disagree on the causes of this event.
Most historians, such as T.S. Asthon and David S. Landees, can agree that the Industrial Revolution
brought on a huge change in society. It changed the way in which people thought, worked, and
performed their everyday activities. However, a number of historians debate over what the actual
cause of the Industrial Revolution was, what it actually impacted and how it did. They also debate
over the actual starting date. Many historians argue that the thing that started off the revolution
occurred when England began to trade with foreign countries. The first time this kind of trade was
seen at a large, impacting scale, was the Triangular Trade. This new trade set up with England,
Europe, Africa, the Americas and the West Indies caused a boom in the economy for

Nature of South China Sea Disputes
The issues on South China Sea disputes are inherently complex and are compounded by conflicting
interpretations from the claimant states. In attempting to dissect this conundrum, Dutton (2011)
propounds a framework to explain the three facets to the disputes territorial sovereignty, jurisdiction
over sea zones, and control over military activities. The argument on territorial sovereignty
premises on the notion of complete state authority over part of, or all of the islands in the South
China Sea, in particular the Paracel and Spratly Islands. Common to both, China is the only state
that has made sovereignty claims over both clusters of islands. It is noted that since 1949, the
Zhou Enlai government has published maps with nine dashes forming a U shape line in the South
China Sea demarcating its maritime boundaries (Nguyen, 2012). In late 2012, China even
published maps with the U shape line in its new passports (Anderlini amp; Bland, 2012).
Separately, Dillon (2011) posits that Beijing s territorial assertion in the South China Sea stems
from the historical tributary system with its vassal kingdoms that span from Japan and Korea in the

Was Mahatma Gandhi Justified Analysis
The Assassination of Mahatma Gandhi: Was It Justified? On January 31, 1948, Mahatma
Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Godse which was one of the most tragic events that
occurred in India. On the day of Gandhi s death, he was running late to prayer which was
strangely unusual to many people. Godse said a couple words to Gandhi before shooting him 3
times in the chest with a gun. Gandhi s assassination was not justified because it (his death) was
mourned worldwide by many followers and citizens, the government is still having issues to this
day from his case and his death changed the hearts of many people entirely. Some people may
think war is easier to approach or Gandhi s political and religious views might not have been
agreeable, but taking someone s life, someone who had inspired millions, is very difficult to
justify. People all around the world was heartbroken from the fact that a precious idol has been
murdered by someone so heartless. Then i heard 4 small, dull, dark explosions... I remember that
he grew pale in an instant. Not the Mahatma! Then i knew (eyewitnesstohistory.com, paragraph
7). This proves that his death had shattered so many people when they heard of his death or
knew of it. Another example from the text states, Inside my own head there occurred a wave like
disturbance which I can only compare to a storm at sea wind and wave surging tremendously back
and forth. (paragraph 8) This also proves that people on the site of the assassination were
immediately going through so many mixed emotions that they felt sick to their stomachs.
Assassinatinating a bright figure like Gandhi had so many people in shock and despair. It was
uncomparable how much they were feeling. The government to this day have issues about his
death case; they are so unsure whether they should open it once more or leave it be. In the text it
states, Today, 68 years after that event a petition in supreme court claims that the identity of Apte
remains mired in doubt and seeks reopening of the investigation into Mahatma Gandhi s
assassination. ( NDTV. com, paragraph 2) This shows that even today, the government ( or supreme
court) are indecisive in whether the case should be opened again. ...raised

For my cultural event, I visited the J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center in Los Angeles,
California on Thursday, December 11, 2014. I had originally planned to visit the National Museum
of Art and History in Washington D.C., but I found myself in Los Angeles due to the birth of my
Grandson. I attended the museum by myself. The Getty Museum was originally started in 1954 in
J. Paul Getty s home in Pacific Palisades. After Getty s death, the Getty Trust took over the museum.
The collection eventually outgrew the site and the Getty Center was built in the Santa Monica
Mountains above interstate 405.

The hallway walls were constructed of glass, allowing me to take in the fantastic views. At that
moment, I felt inspired and grateful that one extremely wealthy man had left such a glorious place
for future generations to enjoy. Luckily for me I ended up in the North pavilion, where Italian art
before 1700 is housed.
The first piece of art I focused on was the painting titled Allegory of Fortune by Dosso Dossi.
Dosso painted it around 1530 in Italy. The painting depicts a man and a woman, the man is
sitting with a robe over his lap and the woman is sitting with her breasts exposed and her body
positioned such that you can t see full frontal nudity. The woman represents fortune, and she is
holding a cornucopia, representing the bounty she may bring. She is sitting on a bubble which
denotes that her favors are fleeting. The man in the painting represents chance. He is looking
longingly at fortune as he deposits lottery tickets into a golden urn. During the time of the
painting, civic lotteries were becoming popular in Italy. It is believed that the painting s probable
patron was Isabella d Este, Marchioness of Mantua. Isabella s emblem included a bundle of lots,
signifying her personal experience with varying fortunes. One interesting fact about this painting is
that it was found and purchased for a modest sum at a flea market. The seven foot painting was
strapped to the top of a car and taken to Christie s

Economic Crisis
Stabilization in the Wake of Economic Crisis Perhaps the most significant reason Pittsburgh was
able to recover from the collapse of steel was the decision, made early on by city officials and local
developers, to seek out new industries rather than cling to the vestiges of the old. Beginning in
1981, the Allegheny Conference (ACC), a non profit coalition of local business and political
leaders, made economic diversification their primary goal. The conference established a committee
whose sole task was to promote new industries. The committee s chairman said, at the outset, we
must diversify...this time we must build new industries, new jobs. Over the next decade, the ACC
helped secure financing for development projects throughout the... Show more content on

Symbolic of the success of that initiative, in 1990, Pittsburgh succeeded in capturing a $370 M
investment in from the Sony Corporation to build their two newest television manufacturing plants.
Overall, these measures to stabilize Pittsburgh s economy were remarkably successful. Between
1982 and 1990, Pittsburgh s employment rate dropped 12.6% (from 17% to 4.6%). For the
remainder of the decade, the unemployment rate hovered В±0.5% compared to the national average.
Thus, the successes of the late 1980s gave Pittsburgh had the breathing room to pursue longer
lasting, economically sustainable reform. New Pittsburgh (1986 Present) Much of the success of
the mid/late 1980s were the result of massive economic stimulation measures rather than organic
growth. Therefore, after the city recovered from the collapse of the early 1980s, city officials and
local developers continued their plans for further economic development. City officials used the
successes of the late 1980s as a springboard to create the highly diversified economy necessary for
sustained economic growth. Since 1990, the focus of economic growth in Pittsburgh has been in
three largely codependent sectors: education, healthcare, and high technology. Higher Education

Fetus Lead Contamination
My company has consistently tried to reduce lead exposure to its employee s. In fact, they are
the ones that initiated programs to decrease the lead exposure to its workers. Whenever
employees receive a doctor s report stating that his or her lead blood levels are high, they would
be transferred out with benefits. It s been proven that lead is toxic and can have ill effects on an
unborn child, and these effects may not manifest themselves immediately at birth. In addition to
that, lead levels that may be safe for a fully grown adult are still toxic to a developing infant fetus.
The policy established in 1977 did not result in protecting women and their children from excess
lead levels. During the beginning stages of conception, the ill effects... Show more content on

In any realm of the world, it is always better to be safe than sorry. The decision made should be
that the company change it policy and implement the one that requires complete exclusions of
women with childbearing capacity from high lead exposure positions. According to the law book,
Consequentialism deals with the ethics and morality of the consequence of actions instead of the
actual actions themselves, so in other words, lying itself is not unethical, but the results of lying
may indeed be unethical. While it may not be fair or necessarily ethical to exclude women from
those toxic environments, the end result of the policy change would be ethical because it would
prevent the lead from ever having the chance of affecting the potential unplanned child. The
potential unborn child is the most affected from the policy change and stands to gain the most out
of it; by implementing the policy, it would give the children of any unplanned pregnancies the
opportunity to live a normal life without any defects due to the absence of toxic lead levels. The
end result of a healthy baby justifies the means of potential unethical exclusion of women from a
toxic even if they want to environment. In order to enforce and monitor the policy, any potential
eligible women who wish to work in the toxic lead environment would be subject to a medical
examination in order to confirm that the woman is

skin agers is. BEAUTY MYSTERY SOLVED By isolated people they deemed to look younger than
they actually were without undergoing cosmetic surgery, they found that genes have a lot to do
with looking young. Could this solve the mystery confronting thousands beauty conscious people
across the globe? Ageless people seem to express differently the approximately 20,000 genes, which
focus on cell energy, skin formation, and antioxidant production differently. Interestingly, that

The Problem Of Drugs And Drug Abuse In Israel
America is not the only country in the world that struggles with drug abuse; Israel has similar
problems. It wasn t until the 80 s that drug use in Israel became a central problem. Israel has
developed into a society that is copied after our modern western society. With the reflection of
our western society, Israel received many good points, as well as many bad ones; a drug issue
being a negative effect. The issue of drug abuse mostly effects kids starting in Elementary
school. Unfortunately, drugs are not hard to obtain due to the large black market operations.
Drug dealers in Israel are very business minded and know how to achieve repeat customers.
Their tactics include giving out free drugs to first time users, getting them addicted, and then
charging them. This problem leaves many kids broke and looking for other means to make
money many times resorting to illegal activities. Approximately 300 thousand people in Israel
are drug users. Of the 300 thousand, 70 thousand are children between the ages of 12 18. This is
11% of the age group in Israel. 25 thousand are addicts. Heroin, cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy, and
LSD are the drugs of choice in Israel. Users usually need about three doses a day. 100 tons of
marijuana is smuggled into Israel through the Egyptian border. 3 4 tons of heroin and cocaine
come through the Lebanese and Jordanian borders. A cool 20 million tablets of ecstasy and LSD

Ten Traits Of Highly Effective Teachers Chapter 1 Summary
In the book, Ten Traits of Highly Effective Principals: From good to Great Performance, McEwan
discusses the facilitator in chapter 4 (2003). She describes the facilitator as a leader with abilities
to build strong relationships with parents, teachers, and students. One principal in the book, Bill,
thought the students would learn more if their teachers are understanding, caring, and genuine as
opposed with students who were taught by teachers that were not. This idea was tested and their
findings were placed in a book entitled, Kids Don t Learn From People They Don t Like (Aspey
Roebuck, 1977). The results of the study described the book perfectly. They found the students who

Newman greets teachers most mornings with a smile on his face and says, We are going to
have a great day today. While we are signing out in the afternoon, he says, Today was great, but
tomorrow our day is going to be even better! Most of us need encouragement on a daily basis.
Not only is Mr. Newman encouraging us but is including himself in the group when he uses the

years, there is no I in the word team. The phrase not only applies to a sports team but to a team of
educators as well. Students are not only taught by a set of teachers but the entire school staff.
According to benchmark 4.11, celebrating is a part of the facilitator s responsibility. In the

parties, ice cream parties, and other celebrations. These celebrations help build a positive morale
among everyone involved. It is not always easily done but the rewards are great. This past year,
Mr. Newman allowed the student with the most reading points during the first nine weeks of
school to pour green slime over his head. Everyone meeting their reading goal was able to watch

weeks reward was a pizza party with the principal. More students met their goal than before. By the

However, the state of Texas could not legally allow her an abortionbecause it wasn t a life or death

(History in dispute) In addition, middle class Americans were still debating whether married
women, let alone teenage girls, should use contraception. This illuminates how little information
was provided at this time, and how an unwanted pregnancy might yield confusion and controversy.
(History in dispute) Abortion, as it still is presently, was a controversial action for one to take.
Many believed in the idea of immediate animation , where when the first fetal movement is felt, it
has been infused with a soul (Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113). It is very much apparent why killing a
fetus infused with a soul might render one to disapprove. Terminating a pregnancy is killing
unborn human life, and this concept inspired people to Those who believed in ideas like this
would advocate against giving women access to abortion, or at least disapproved them doing so.
The Feminist Movement in the United States carried over to the 1970s, and took a prominent role
within society. The fiftieth anniversary of the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment to the United

Loss Oriented Stressors
Death has always been and will be a topic that just a few want to talk, but since time immemorial
man has worshiped their dead, and this is reflected in the various rituals and forms of burial. The
anguish of death has been considered the deepest anguish of man. Death is the inevitable
companion of life, is the final stage. It can occur at any age, suddenly or after a long illness.
Despite knowing that someday we will have to die the deathof a loved one is a terrible fact, very
difficult to accept, that affects everyone around the deceased person. When the link with the
deceased breaks, the suffering is so great, that they put into question the fundamentals of being, of
human existence and our deepest beliefs, affecting significantly the basic familyand social
relationships.
The process model of coping with bereavement identified two types of stressors related to
bereavement: loss oriented stressors and restoration oriented stressors. Loss oriented stressors are
essentially those that relate directly to the death and the feelings associated with it. These types of
stressors include ruminating on the emotions associated with the deceased, concentrating on how
life had been prior to the loss, and focusing on the actual circumstances surrounding the death.

support and comfort in this difficult time of the end of life. Numerous Researchers now for many

Global Warming And Its Impact On The Environment
As technology continues to advance, and as the population continues to grow and the individual life
expectancy becomes longer, the global environment is being negatively impacted by various human
and natural activities that are detrimental to the environment. Unfortunately there are many global
environmental issues that need the attention of world leaders today, and have become undisputed
environmental issues in today s society. However, the most important public health, environmental
issue I would like to address in my discussion is global warming. Furthermore, global warming
influences a great amount of climate changes in the global arena. Hence, its befitting to say that,
most issues associated with climate changes around the world and global warming or increased
atmospheric temperature are intertwined. According to Friis (2012), Global warming is the
increase in the near surface temperature of the earth; the increased temperature is due to the
increased emission of greenhouse gases. It has been postulated by scientists that earth s surface
has been warming up by approximately one degree Fahrenheit every year for the past 140 years; a
consequence of the emission of gasses such as carbon dioxide, methaneand Nitrous Oxide from
sources such as fossil fuel combustion. For example, fossil combustion that is coal and petroleum
based fuels. Other sources of these gases are deforestation, which also results in increased
atmospheric carbon dioxide,

Paul Harvey s Speech So God Made A Farmer
The Man of Steel On his talk show Paul Harvey had one famous speech So God made a Farmer.
In the speech he describes a farmer as firm but caring, He says, . . . It had to be somebody who d
plow deep and straight and not cut corners; somebody to seed, weed, feed, breed and rake and
disc and plow...So God made a Farmer. John Deere has helped farmers accomplished many of
those things he listed seeding, weeding, and plowing. Plowing might be last on the list for Paul
Harvey, but it is the first accomplishment of John Deere which turned into to a big and
outstanding company. John Deere created the first steel plow in a little blacksmith shop in
Illinois. Farmers had a great deal of problems when it came to plowing. The plow would try to
get through the dark and rich dirt. Then in a matter of moments, the plow would be full of dirt
that farmers would have to quit plowing and scrape off the dirt (OH, DEERE). The black soil is
what caused the plow to get full of wet dense dirt which that called Gumbo (John Deere, That s

The Minnesota Zen Meditation Center is not an exception to that guideline. From the public garden,

center to benefit our environment while also reaching out to the community. The idea of a public
garden is great because it not only creates a better environment around us, but it also attempts to
influence many people to do the same. Additionally, the garden includes a bike rack. The bike rack
further suggests the center s commitment to environmentally friendly activities. The garden is one
of the most apparent traits of the center that makes it unique from other congregations that I have

how the seasons of the year could impact a book. Although many people may associate weatheror

yellow leaves,or none, or few, do hang upon those boughs which shake against the cold: bare,
ruined chords, where late the sweet birds sang. The man is comparing his life to the falling
leaves on the tree. They both were so full of life, but now they are not. The leaves falling are is

Reflection Paper On Powerlifting Moment
Powerlifting Progression
After enduring months of intense conditioning, the time came for us to see if our work paid off.
It was testing week for varsity football and bench press day had arrived. I maxed out at 335
pounds at the beginning of the year and I was looking to make some gains. I did my dynamic
warm up and static stretches and hit a few reps of 300 pounds to stimulate blood flow. Routinely
reaching for my weightlifting belt, I arrived at a dilemma. The belt evidently grew a conscience
of its own and decided not to function. Presented with a chance to test the nature of my raw
muscle, I had to visualize lifting 365 pounds without the aid of a weightlifting belt. I sat down
and performed my normal pre lift rituals to gain composure. Gradually lying backward, I grasped
the bar as I adjusted my back to the bench. With a deep breath, I un racked the bar and claimed the
strongest bench press in the history of the school. This record, however, was not the only accolade
I acquired from powerlifting.
As a powerlifter, I am continuously prompted to assess my physical condition at any given time.
This awareness is very crucial because it has helped me balance the degree that I increase the
intensity of my workout to get stronger with the appropriate recovery time that allows my muscles
to recuperate. As the complexity of my workout progresses, my overall physical development
follows suit. Knowing that advancement in the weight room is enhanced through awareness, I
greatly utilize this understanding of growth when considering my intellectual progression.
If I want to become stronger in a particular lift, I start by highlighting details in individual
segments of that lift that can be improved. I make similar observations in regards to my
intellectual state; for example, stability exists as the foundation of my outlook on the world. From
the atmosphere of my upbringing as a homeschool student, to my pastimes as a powerlifter and
critical thinker, stability gives meaning to many properties that comprise my character. Being the
third of eight children, most of the things I do have already been done before at least once in my
family. I am often tasked with an expectation to succeed solely because of this precedent,

Walt Disney Company is famed for its creativity, strong global brand, and uncanny ability to take
service and experience businesses to higher levels. In the early 1990s, then CEO Michael Eisner
looked to the fast food industry as a way to draw additional attention to the Disney presence
outside of its theme parks its retail chain was highly successful and growing rapidly.
A fast food restaurant made sense from Eisner s perspective since Disney s theme parks had

This strategy is usually associated with charging a premium price for the product often to reflect the
higher production costs and extra value added features provided for the consumer. Differentiation is
about charging a premium price that more than covers the additional production costs, and about

As Walt DisneyCompany is famed for its creativity and strong global brand, Disney appear to

Compare and Contrast Between Rwanda and Darfur Genocide,...
The analysis of the genocides that took place both in Rwanda and Sudan s Darfur region exhibit
some similarities as well as differences. The character of violence was similar in both cases, but in
Rwanda the violence was more intense, participatory, and extraordinary. The violence in these two
places took place in an environment that had experienced civil wars. It was a period of political
transition which was further aggravated by ethnic nationalism and a conflict of ethnic populations
that were living in close proximity. However, in the Rwandan genocide, the state is more
centralized, compact, and effective. This is what explains the intensity and variation. The

In Rwanda, the IC was not concerned with stopping the genocide just like in Darfur. This makes the
two cases similar. These comparative claims are accurate although the claims need some close
scrutiny. For instance, the comparisons do not provide the degree of similarity and differences in
the two instances. Form the international perspective, we are not able to tell in what way the
response in Rwanda is different or similar to what took place in Darfur (Straus).
Why the US and the UN what are the similarities and differences of how they acted in each
situation.
The UN and the US government are accredited for deploring conflict situations as well as
contributing humanitarian aid, and this is what these two organizations did in Rwanda and
Darfur. However, the UN did not do anything to punish or prevent the genocides that took place
in these two countries. The US government promised to support the peace talk s agreement in
Darfur and hold the perpetrators accountable for their acts. It never kept that promise since
nothing has been done. So far, the UN s Security Council has also failed in its peace keeping
mission effeorts, and is instead pressuring Sudan with words only. No solid steps have been made
to bring the wrong doers into justice (Shapiro).
In Rwanda, in 1994, the United Nations ignored the call to act fast, and only stepped up after
hundred days, after close to 800,000 people had lost their lives.

The narrator stared hard at the shot of the cathedral on the TV. How could I even begin to

who said I had to do it or else (Carver 36). The narrator describes the event before just fine, with
the skeletons and people dressed as the devil, but he struggles with the cathedral. It was
unobtainable for him to do it, he was speechless. This is key because the narrator says he couldn

to Robert because he did not understand it. Not until he closed his eyes could he describe the
cathedral, and start to close this gap between understanding what he can see versus
understanding the meaning behind it. He starts to realize he s always been wrong about things

John Bowlby s Theories of Attachment Theory
John Bowlby had worked with residential school children as a volunteer early on in his career and
had determined that the children who suffered the most from anger outbursts, aggressivity, and
whom her termed affectionless were also the children who had suffered the most maternal
deprivation (). Bowlby advanced that the loss of the mother figure was extremely distressing and
damaging and could influence adults behavior years later. Hence, where psychoanalysishad been
concerned solely with the imaginings of the childish mind, the fantasied pleasures and the
dreaded retributions (Fonagy), Bowlby showed that humans do not develop in a void or as
individual monads but as members of interacting systems. Bowlby developed his theory on
attachment for several decades, and at a time where any dealings with childhood trauma were still
rigorously influenced by Freudian psychoanalysis through the likes of psychoanalysts such Anna
Freud or Melanie Klein. Even Winnicott was revulsed upon reading Bowlby s papers (siegel). It
certainly was a bitter pill to swallow for psychoanalysts who had been repeating since Freud that
the newborn was a little tyrant fighting for oral gratification at the mother s breast and merely
clinging on to fulfil sexual instinctual needs. Bowlby s work was thus eschewed for a considerable
time, despite his involvement with the World Health Organisation and the considerable empirical
weight that was added to his findings by Mary Ainsworths studies in

Lizzie Borden Took An Axe
Lizzie Borden took an axe... Or did she?
Hello, this is my opinion on Lizzie, although the poem says she took an axe, what was John
doing, the maid, and sister? The maid was the only person in the house besides Lizzie and Abbi.
Did they set up the murders? John was out of town, suspiciously, and the sister was out with a
friend. The father was running errands. Lizzie had an attorney and claimed Lizzie was sleeping
during the murders. And if these people did associate with Lizzie, why, they as much to gain as
anyone? Did Andrew choose ,favorites? Was Abbi a bad mother? We may never know.
My last thing to say about Lizzie, is why did she kill her parents? Lizzie had nothing to gain by
killed her parents, so why? If killing her parents did nothing she must have had a different plan.
Maybe Lizzie wanted mental comfort, or revenge on something that may have happened when she
was a child. The house was 300,000 dollars in total estate, which 8 million dollars in modern
society. Due to this Lizzie may have wanted to sell the house, but she remained living in the Borden

The Lost Type Co-Op
As I was searching through various font foundries through Google search I came across one that
piqued my interest the font foundry was Lost Type Co Op. They caught my eye because they have
produced some really great vintage and retro style fonts. I also chose this font foundry because they
have an unusual fontbuying system where they leave their visitors with the choice to pay what
they can afford for the fonts on the site. They left it this way expecting people to have a moral
code and to pay what they felt the font was deserving; as well as giving designers with little
means the ability to purchase fonts to use in their designs. After doing a little digging through
more searches I found the history of how the Lost Type Co Op was founded. It originally started
off as a bet between the co founders Riley Cran and Tyler Galpin after finding a 1940 s Ball glass
jar poster both designers were enamored with the secondary font promoting the glass jars. Cran
bet Galpin that he could produce a full alphabet of the font face in 24 hours; Galpin said if he
could he would make a website for the font. 24 hours and some collaboration later the Font Muncie
was completed. They offered Muncie up to the design community as a completely free typeface.
After some thought they decided to try to make it a go as a font service; and started to call other
design friends who were turning towards creating fonts for their design work. After a few months

blubber was far superior to that of the right whale found around Nantucket, providing a brighter
and cleaner burning light, but its block shaped head contained a much larger reservoir of this
oil. This is where the wealth of the island came from, nowadays Nantucket has a population of
about 20,000 which, during the summer, increases to about 50,000. The evidence of the island s
former glory can still be seen along the upper reaches of the town s Main Street, where the
cobbles dip and rise like the sea and where the houses evoke the humble spirituality of the island s
Quaker past. The whaling business of the 1800 s gave Nantucket it s incredible wealth. An average
house in Nantucket costs more than in other vacation destinations such as Long Island s Hamptons,
with much of the population living there only part time. Nantucket still has a large pull towards

past due to fishing regulations and laws, so without this Nantucketers embrace the island s past and

History of the Hollywood Star System Essay
The star system was a method of developing and advancing the popularity of Hollywood movie
stars. The system, which began during the height of the Hollywood studio system era, emphasized
the image of the actor instead on the actual acting. The movie studio s profits were driven by the
popularity of the stars that appeared in their films. According to Rocco, the stars had long term
contracts with the movie studios that paid them a weekly salary, and the stars were identified with
specific types of characters that would often be repeated in many movies. Belton stated that the star
provides the studio with a tangible attraction, an image that can be advertized and marketed,
offsetting the less tangible qualities of the story, directing,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Over time, there were several changes in Hollywood that led to the end of the studio system, but the
star system remained one of the most important aspects of the film industry. The creation of movie
magazines made the actors and actresses more assessable to fans. Belton stated that the power
of today s stars is driven by the amount of focus that is put on them by entertainment journalist
and television shows (90). Entertainment magazines line the shelves of grocery stores and
newspaper stands with the names and faces of stars plastered throughout the pages. Robert
Downey Jr. is one of the most gifted actors of his generation, but he had a tough time finding
stability in his personal life. According to Biography.com, Downey was born in New York City

this period, he was also well known in the media for his substance abuse problems. Downey

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Balanced Scorecard
The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is thoroughly sustainable. Because when the proper management can
be done and when the formulation process can be done impeccably, then the sustainable Balanced
Scorecard (BSC) can be incorporated. There are some sorts of features that may help in maintaining
the sustainability. The perspectives should also be well formulated. The financial and customer s
attitude helps in maintaining the total business organization perfectly and then the internal business
process can be run in a perfect manner so that the sustainability can be measured. Besides, the point
is the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is sustainable universally and it can be used in any moment to

However, the crucial difference between the BSC and TQM is the emphasis of each of tools. The
BSC more emphasizes on financial objects.According to the biggest difference between BSC and
TQM that, BSC takes a holistic view of performance, where TQM tends to emphasize
improvements to internal business processes. Zahirul (2003), concluded that TQM does not

Religion And Religion
The incorporation of religion into a person s life displays how a belief in gods can impact every
facet of someone s life. The entirety of religion is based solely on faith and the willpower of
someone s belief in what has been taught to them. In these teachings, through sacred texts,
manuscripts, or orally transmitted; the basis of many religions is the idea of an object, person, or
building being sacred. The reason something becomes sacred and is then believed to be sacred is
because the sacred manifests itself and makes itself become known to man. This is what separates
the religious man from the profane man, the idea that items can be sacred, and the belief that they
are sacred. Eliade points out that the profane man experiences life uniformly neutral, he does not
have something that shapes his life like religiondoes . The objective of religious architects was to
separate the holy world and the profane world by utilizing sacred space to allow for a relationship
between believers and the cosmos. In many religious systems around the world, there were thought
to be three cosmic levels, heaven (or nirvana, etc.), earth, and hell (or the underworld, land of the
dead, etc.). The religious man believed that the axis mundi , center of the world, linked all three
cosmic levels together. The different religions had different centers of the world, and all of them
were built using various types of architecture, which reflected their own specific culture. In

Walt whitman was a man that was born in New York, he knew what america came from. Whitman wrote a poem called I Hear America Singing. In this poem he tells of citizens doing their job or daily duty while singing America. Later on in history a man named Langston Hughes, he was an African americanpoet during the Harlem Renissance. This was a time period that allowed Afican Americans Poetry to be taken seriously. Langston wrote a poem that struck the hearts of all people, it is called I, Too, Sing Amerca, this poem expands on how hard Africna Americans had it. They had to take care of everything for their meals, and after all of that they were sent to eat their shares in the kitchen away from everyone. This poem was thought to be a response to whitmans poem. in these poems that have some of the same characteristics, one of which is what people do to be an american, another is the structure or outline of the poem, finally they also explain how proud people are to be an American. • 4. The Industrial Revolution Caused A Major Development... The Industrial Revolution caused a major development in social history with major changes in manufacturing, transportation, and agriculture that had an intense effect on socioeconomic and cultural conditions in Europe that then spread to North America and eventually around the world, influencing almost every aspect of everyday life and society. Looking through sources from the time period, it is easy to see how lives were changed due to the advancements in technology that improved manufacturing, agriculture, and transportation. After intently studying these phenomena, many Historians agree that all of these major changes were the main effect of the Industrial Revolution, but they may disagree on the causes of this event. Most historians, such as T.S. Asthon and David S. Landees, can agree that the Industrial Revolution brought on a huge change in society. It changed the way in which people thought, worked, and performed their everyday activities. However, a number of historians debate over what the actual cause of the Industrial Revolution was, what it actually impacted and how it did. They also debate over the actual starting date. Many historians argue that the thing that started off the revolution occurred when England began to trade with foreign countries. The first time this kind of trade was seen at a large, impacting scale, was the Triangular Trade. This new trade set up with England, Europe, Africa, the Americas and the West Indies caused a boom in the economy for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nature of South China Sea Disputes The issues on South China Sea disputes are inherently complex and are compounded by conflicting interpretations from the claimant states. In attempting to dissect this conundrum, Dutton (2011) propounds a framework to explain the three facets to the disputes territorial sovereignty, jurisdiction over sea zones, and control over military activities. The argument on territorial sovereignty premises on the notion of complete state authority over part of, or all of the islands in the South China Sea, in particular the Paracel and Spratly Islands. Common to both, China is the only state that has made sovereignty claims over both clusters of islands. It is noted that since 1949, the Zhou Enlai government has published maps with nine dashes forming a U shape line in the South China Sea demarcating its maritime boundaries (Nguyen, 2012). In late 2012, China even published maps with the U shape line in its new passports (Anderlini amp; Bland, 2012). • 6. Was Mahatma Gandhi Justified Analysis The Assassination of Mahatma Gandhi: Was It Justified? On January 31, 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Godse which was one of the most tragic events that occurred in India. On the day of Gandhi s death, he was running late to prayer which was strangely unusual to many people. Godse said a couple words to Gandhi before shooting him 3 times in the chest with a gun. Gandhi s assassination was not justified because it (his death) was mourned worldwide by many followers and citizens, the government is still having issues to this day from his case and his death changed the hearts of many people entirely. Some people may think war is easier to approach or Gandhi s political and religious views might not have been agreeable, but taking someone s life, someone who had inspired millions, is very difficult to justify. People all around the world was heartbroken from the fact that a precious idol has been murdered by someone so heartless. Then i heard 4 small, dull, dark explosions... I remember that he grew pale in an instant. Not the Mahatma! Then i knew (eyewitnesstohistory.com, paragraph 7). This proves that his death had shattered so many people when they heard of his death or knew of it. Another example from the text states, Inside my own head there occurred a wave like disturbance which I can only compare to a storm at sea wind and wave surging tremendously back and forth. (paragraph 8) This also proves that people on the site of the assassination were immediately going through so many mixed emotions that they felt sick to their stomachs. Assassinatinating a bright figure like Gandhi had so many people in shock and despair. It was uncomparable how much they were feeling. The government to this day have issues about his death case; they are so unsure whether they should open it once more or leave it be. In the text it states, Today, 68 years after that event a petition in supreme court claims that the identity of Apte remains mired in doubt and seeks reopening of the investigation into Mahatma Gandhi s assassination. Dosso painted it around 1530 in Italy. The painting depicts a man and a woman, the man is sitting with a robe over his lap and the woman is sitting with her breasts exposed and her body positioned such that you can t see full frontal nudity. • 23. Reflection Paper On Powerlifting Moment Powerlifting Progression After enduring months of intense conditioning, the time came for us to see if our work paid off. It was testing week for varsity football and bench press day had arrived. I maxed out at 335 pounds at the beginning of the year and I was looking to make some gains. I did my dynamic warm up and static stretches and hit a few reps of 300 pounds to stimulate blood flow. Routinely reaching for my weightlifting belt, I arrived at a dilemma. The belt evidently grew a conscience of its own and decided not to function. Presented with a chance to test the nature of my raw muscle, I had to visualize lifting 365 pounds without the aid of a weightlifting belt. I sat down and performed my normal pre lift rituals to gain composure. Gradually lying backward, I grasped the bar as I adjusted my back to the bench. With a deep breath, I un racked the bar and claimed the strongest bench press in the history of the school. This record, however, was not the only accolade I acquired from powerlifting. As a powerlifter, I am continuously prompted to assess my physical condition at any given time. This awareness is very crucial because it has helped me balance the degree that I increase the intensity of my workout to get stronger with the appropriate recovery time that allows my muscles to recuperate. As the complexity of my workout progresses, my overall physical development follows suit. Knowing that advancement in the weight room is enhanced through awareness, I greatly utilize this understanding of growth when considering my intellectual progression. If I want to become stronger in a particular lift, I start by highlighting details in individual segments of that lift that can be improved. I make similar observations in regards to my intellectual state; for example, stability exists as the foundation of my outlook on the world. From the atmosphere of my upbringing as a homeschool student, to my pastimes as a powerlifter and critical thinker, stability gives meaning to many properties that comprise my character. Being the third of eight children, most of the things I do have already been done before at least once in my family. Bowlby advanced that the loss of the mother figure was extremely distressing and damaging and could influence adults behavior years later. Hence, where psychoanalysishad been concerned solely with the imaginings of the childish mind, the fantasied pleasures and the dreaded retributions (Fonagy), Bowlby showed that humans do not develop in a void or as individual monads but as members of interacting systems.
