Transformers Movie Pros And Cons
The Transformers franchise has been in existence since the 1980 s when both its cartoon and comic
series first came out. Since then, multitudes of various television series, comic series, and films are
produced continuously to this day. Though each series stories and characters come in a variety of
darkness, storyline, continuity, and such, the battle between the divided factions of Autobots and
Decepticons lead by Optimus Prime and Megatron, respectively, remains evident between nearly all
of the variations (Fred). Despite all the changes and differences, the fans remain loyal to the Hasbro
owned franchise. Its continued relevance today is most likely thanks to Transformersfranchise s
perfect formula of fantastical escape, well developed writing, and opportunism that, to this day,
continues to retain its popularity on medias of all kind.
As with any form of entertainment, Transformers is a place that fans choose to escape to from
reality, or at least, better cope with it in some cases. Often set in a post war scenario where both
sides are left to abandon their home planet of Cybertron and take providence on Planet Earth, the
variations often deal with themes such as alienation, unfamiliar territories, the effects of war and
the politics behind it (Pirrello). Even while many of the cartoon series may water down the severity
of the situation, the reality remains the same between all of them, and the familiarity they provide
can make it easier to understand, also. It is a

Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ( Gaap ) And...
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board
(FASB) exist to make financial reporting consistent while reducing fraud and material errors.
Because GAAP guidance is crucial for public and private companies depend heavily upon it to make
financial decisions. Through GAAP, the entity understands how to properly carry out the accrual
accounting process and most importantly when to recognize revenue. However, what happens
when GAAP guidance is not sufficient or non existent in its interpretations of gray areas? Here lies
the question that accountants and the crypto currency community of bitcoin has requested answers

Most entities do not have the technological capability to keep track of up to date bitcoin market
prices at the time of bitcoin exchange. Providers such as BitPay or Coinbase have effectively
made it easy to account for bitcoin by immediately transforming bitcoin into a legal unit of
currency. For this reason, the business that accepts bitcoin are transferring bitcoin to a third party
and the third party is transferring legal tender. Traditional accounting systems can then classify
and record the transaction. Due to bitcoins nature and the legality of it the IRS has classified it
as property and not currency for U.S. federal tax purposes. General tax principles that relate to
property transactions apply to transactions using bitcoin and other virtual currencies. The IRS
states virtual currency has an equivalent value in real currency, or that it acts as a convertible
virtual currency (AICPA 2014). Bitcoin is a legal, financial investment and legal for trade and
exchange into United States Dollars (USD) under IRS guidance. When receiving bitcoins as
payment the coins are computed to gross income by using the fair market value of the virtual
currency on that date. Gains or losses are classified as ordinary income or loss depending on
whether the virtual currency is a capital asset in the hands of the taxpayer. A payment made using
virtual currency is subject

The Medico Religious Plants Of Assam, India
The Medico Religious Plants of Assam, India The following is a study into the various plants
for both medical and religious use in the area of Assam, India. The following peoples will be
compared in this study: the Hajong, the Mishing, and the Tiwas; just three of a vast array of
tribes located on the state of Assam in India. Assam has been found to be a wealth of information
on Ethnobotanicals: starting with plants used in socio religious practices; restrictions and taboos
on certain sacred plants; plant associations with deities; sacred plants that are repellents for gods
and evil spirits that cause diseases; and plants used in divination for the recovery of lost items.
These plants are regarded as sacred for social, cultural and religious purposes; to the Assamians all
surrounding vegetation is considered religious ground. The research for this study will include
discovering the types of holy plants used, what parts of the plants are used and what is the purpose
of the plant within the performance of a ritualor other ceremony? Also with the three peoples
being studied, what are the differences in use of plants for each group? What are the similarities?
Are there any variations on the type of plant species used, or variation on the performance of ritual
or ceremony, with similar plant usage? By the conclusion of this paper it is believed all these
questions will be

Grass Roots Activism Analysis
According to an article title Grass Roots Activism by Garry Crystal, grass root activism is a
group of people who feel strongly enough about an issue to actively make a difference . These
groups of people are not involved in political parties; they just want change as a result of their
contribution. According to dictionary.com astroturfing is, a PR tactic used in politicsand advertising
in which actors are paid to display overt and apparently spontaneous grassroots support for a
particular product, policy, or event . So unlike Grass Roots Activism the people involved in
astroturfing don t actually feel strong about a particular issue they just pretend because there are
incentives involved.
The AIDS activism has been in affect for years.

Byzantium Feudalism Essay
Though initially economic development of Byzantium was defined by that the emperor was the
supreme owner of land and the state had a considerable fund of the lands belonging only to the
state treasury. These lands were so extensive that the peasants living on them could not always
process them. As a result, the state and imperial lands surrendered in long term rent. The state
widely used practice of grant of lands for service military or state. As a result, in Byzantium there
were feudal forms of land tenure which reminded feudal possession in Western Europe. Also we
should consider the Byzantine feudalism analyzing history of social processes in the country and
changes in the lower class of the population. For example, In Western Europe development

Antigone Vs Duccio
The most important difference between MaestГ and Antigone is the message that each portrays to
society. Duccio di Buoninsegna s series of individualized paintings depicting the Virgin Mary
display her as a central figure that is respected and possibly worshiped by both men and women.
Sophocles play on the other hand displays female oppression through his main character and the
lack of dedication to religion by men. I think this is an important differencebecause each work of art
exposes the beliefs that each artist conveys about their individualized society. Even though there are
many distinctions between Duccio s MaestГ and Sophocles Antigone, I believe that the most
important difference is the message that each... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For starters, Antigone was created in 441 BCE Athens, a city state in Ancient Greece, where the
only thing more powerful than a man s pride in Athens political system was preserving their
egos. During this time, it was evident that the women were firmly wedged underneath the thumb
of Athenian men. The playwright s tragedy encompasses this several times through his
characters. He writes, As far as she s concerned, we bear no guilt. But she s lost her place living
here with us, (Sophocles Excerpt 4). In this quote Antigone s uncle, King Creon ostracizes his
niece because she disobeyed his demands when she performed a burial custom for her brother,
Polyneices. This quote assists in proving that one of the major messages of Sophocles play is the
domination of Athenian men over women. During Sophocles life, Athenian females were not able
to attend the plays, defend themselves in court, choose who they would marry, or spend their
money freely. This idea was reinforced in his play by showing the harshness of Antigone s
treatment by King Creon, exhibiting that females were not equal and certainly did not have the
same liberties as men did. The

St. Thomas Aquinas Influence On Religion
Both in the times of St. Thomas Aquinas and in our times, there are many other religions. To avoid
an everlasting war many chose to accept those of the different religions. The Catholic Church
teaches that it is the true Church and that salvation cannot be found outside of the Catholic Church
(Catechism of the Catholic Church, 816). When St. Thomas Aquinas speaks of unbelievers he
speaks of those who are not Catholic. Even though Aquinas is addressing Catholics, his views can
be used today to address other denominations of Christianitythat did not exist in his time.
Unbelievers are very different from heretics. While the Church tends to treat unbelievers the same
as they have for many years, it no longer treats heretics in the way they once... Show more content

The sharing of many of these opposing views allows for questions to arise of who could possibly
be excommunicated. In the twenty first century most, excommunications have occurred due to
an individual s stance on the topics of abortion, homosexual marriage, or for the ordination of
female priest. Four prominent figures in today s time have used social media to convey their
opinions and their opinions have had many people calling for their excommunications. Nancy
Pelosi, Joe Biden, and Tim Kaine are all public speakers who have exclaimed views different
from Church teachings while claiming to be Catholic. These views can include abortion,
contraception, homosexual marriage, the ordination of women priest, of many other issues. Fr.
James Martin is also known for his views that oppose the Catholic Church. Fr. James Martin has
often spoken out and interpreted the Bible in ways many would call heretical or he has referred to
the Holy Spirit with feminine pronouns. Fr. Martin has also promoted transgenderism in children
and the lack of chastity in same sex relationships (The Vortex). These four Catholics have used
social media as an outlet to oppose the Catholic Church and through undermining them, they have
been viewed as heretics by many. Their use of social media has made it even more dangerous to
the souls of others because their heresy is quickly spread and

The Observation Of Elephants
What species performs burials, has the ability to cry, and form many complex relationships
throughout their lives? Elephants. Since many individuals might have guessed humans or primates
first, this one question shows the complexity of this species. Transition This paper tries to answer
one main question: How does elephantbehavior, both in captive and wild settings, provide data that
can lead to evidence based practices for building captive enclosures, daily activities, and help with
conservation practices, both in captivity and in the wild. For this discussion, I am going to focus on
the family, Elephantidae, as a whole. Though some might argue that the genus Loxodonta (African)
and Maximus (Asian) should be analyzed separately, I find the... Show more content on

It is hard to create and provide hard evidence to support this ideal when there is not a linguistic way
to communicate between humans and other species. For the purposes of this discussion I will use
Breed and Moore s definition: Cognition is the ability of an animal to separate itself from the
moment in which it is living and to contemplate the past, predict the future, and act accordingly
(2016). Cognition experiments on elephants did not begin until the late 1950 s, starting with
Rensch s study on memory. Since than scientist s have tested/ studied problem solving, rituals,
emotions, deception, casual reasoning, tool making, and tool use within elephants with many
having positive results (Plotnik et al., 2010). One aspect of cognition that has been tested in many
primates in the recent years is the mirror self recognition test; this is considered the basic level of
cognition. Plotnik and colleagues completed this test with three female elephants at the Bronx Zoo
(2010). This test involves three stages, where each shows a level of recognition. Though none of the
elephants passed the mark part of the test, they showed many other characteristics that indicated self
recognition (that was in other species like chimpanzees and bottle nose dolphins). However, the
discrepancy could be due to the way elephants identify one another: through touch, sounds, and
smell, which a mirror cannot replicate (Plotnik et

Plot Summary of Remember the Titans Essays
Remember the Titans is a film from 2000 displaying a true story of a racially divided football
team from the 1970s. The movie highlights the relationships of the black and white people, and
how they learned to interact with each other in a time when this was not the way of life. It brings
up a number of questions throughout, of what is right and what is wrong, and really challenges
the characters, making it a very interesting movie to watch. I have seen this movie many times,
and each time I feel like I get something new out of it. It is a movie that can be used as a teaching
tool, it does a great job of interpreting not only what was happening in the United States of America
at that time, but social psychologyconcepts through real life... Show more content on

The text explains that, They may label each other as enemies, view their own group as morally
superior, draw the boundaries between themselves and their opponents more firmly, and, under
extreme conditions, may come to see the opposing group as not even human (Baron
Branscombe, 2012). I would not say that the characters in the movie took this idea as far as the
text explains, but there were many examples of this happening. The first example would be
between the coaches. Coach Boone was given Coach Yoast s coaching position, and offers him
an assistant position for the team. Coach Yoast accepts the position, only for his players, but
ensuring that his old assistant gets a job as well. Now that the teams have integrated, there really
is not enough room for all the coaches, and it seems like each group is looking out for their own.
Coach Boone also has his assistant working with him, so now this makes four different coaches
for T.C. William s football team. With all of this happening the two white coaches and the two
black coaches are not 100% getting along. They do not agree with one another s ideas and have
clear prejudices about one another, displaying the realistic conflict theory. They all want to be
doing the same thing but there were not enough spots, so they think negatively of each other and
often butt heads. This same idea moves onto the players. Each player, black and white, had their
spot on their old team where they were

this amount, Kasich is ranked 12th out of all the 2016 presidential candidates and was close to

However, after an independently wealthy celebrity and two established federal candidates were

wait for the opportunity to strike and make his presence known, but he is just being outspent and is
getting outpaced (Everett 2016). Not everyone, especially potential donators, share Kasich s
optimism and do not want to spend money on a perceived lost cause. Especially, with Trump
dominating the election and media cycles enhancing his first place lead. With that being said,
Kasich and his campaign managers are being exceptionally frugal and cost efficient with their
limited funds (Levinson 2016). Their budgeting skills and ability to save money for ads in New
Hampshire and in the Super Tuesday states may be a source of Kasich s optimism. They were
acutely aware from the beginning that they would not receive money on the level of Clinton or
Cruz until Super Tuesday at the earliest. So, they have done an exceptional job keeping Kasich in
fourth place on a twelfth place budget.

Reasons For Green And Blue Spaces
The number of people living in urban areas is dramatically increasing across the world. Currently,
75 % of people live in cities in the developed world, (Bernhardt E.S. and Palmer M.A, 2007)
despite such high percentage many do not get access to the green and blue spaces available, in other
words cannot interact with nature. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency
green spaces are land that is partly or completely covered with grass, trees, shrubs or other
vegetation (Environmental Protection Agency, 2014) This includes community gardens, parks as
well as cemeteries. (Environmental Protection Agency, 2014) On the other hand, blue spaces
include rivers, canals and lakes. (Sally, M, 2010) As urbanisation increases, it will pose a greater
threat to nature such as pollution, habitat destruction, erosion and colonisation of native species.
There are various ways to engage with nature. However, one reason for green and blue spaces not
being utilised effectively by people may be due to people being unaware of the values that these
have and the crucial functions they undertake in the ecosystem such as recycling nutrients and
controlling the hydrological cycle.
This essay will explore the social, ecological and economic values of green and blue spaces as a
whole as many of the values interrelate and describe some of the approaches being used to
improve access to nature. These approaches will be classified into three main categories: river

Summary Of China Simulation
To preface, my group did a simulation based on the Communist Chinese communes in the 1950s.
What went well with our simulation was that it was engaging. Due to the timed component of each
corn harvesting season, there was a race against the clock mentality which ultimately, required a lot
of focus and attention to the activity. In addition, since there are two communes competing against
each other, it helped bring out the competitive nature of our participants. One way that they
simulation could have been improved would be by adding more background information about
China during this time and talking more about the definition of a commune. One comment that was
made was that this activity was very fun, but it felt more like a farming game... Show more content

In other words, the results of implementing a simulation can be multi faceted. One could say a
simulation could improve skills such as public speaking, looking at and synthesizing evidence,
communication skills, working together and collaboration, etc. One could also say a simulation can
improve student s ability to remember concepts such as economic principles, historical events, parts
of the brain, etc. It truly depends on the class that one teaches and the age group that determines
which learning goals to focus on. Another strategic use of simulations is to allow time at the end of
the simulation for discussion and debrief. At the teacher panel, one teacher mentioned how he had a
simulation but didn t allow time for a discussion, which ultimately was harmful. My goal would be
to allow time for discussion to not only allow students to take a breather but to also talk about how
the simulation connects to things learned in the

The Importance Of Elementary Writing
Writing in a horizontal line is essential for students in the elementary setting. Writing first begins in
preschool, within the following year student s knowledge of words increases greatly. A student s
writing and reading skills only continue to grow as he/she reaches middle and high school. Students
use writingin a variety of different ways especially in the elementary setting. Writing may be used to
describe a picture, how the student is feeling, to share information and more. It is essential that
students are given the opportunity to demonstrate strong writing skills throughout elementary
school. Although writing is essential in the development of students, many students lack the
foundational writing skills needed to be effective. Only 25% of students in the National Assessment
of Educational Progress were classified as competent writers (Persky, Daane, Jin, 2003).
The purpose of this study is to assist the student (Jaden) with writing in a horizontal line across the
page when forming sentences. Jaden can write complete sentences without the assistance of
teachers, but his sentences are never in order. Jaden tends to write words within the sentence
anywhere when provided with a sheet of paper. Being able to form sentences correctly across the
page is important for the student to understand what he is writing. When asked to read back what
he wrote, the student is often unable because of his inability to form sentences correctly across the
page. The task is when given

Brutus Was The Noblest Roman Of Them All
This was the noblest Roman of them all . This quote was said by Antony, one of the characters in
the play Julius Caesar. This quote was said about Brutus, friend of both Mark Antony and Caesar. I
believe Brutus was the noblest of them all because not only was he highly respected in the very
beginning of the play, but because he was honest in his thoughts and actions.
Brutus is considered the noblest of them all because of a few reasons. One of the reasons is that
he was very reluctant to kill Caesar. Brutus was the only person out of the group, which included,
Cassius, and Casca who did not envy Caesar. Brutus did not have a vendetta against Caesar. The
only reason why Brutus chose to aid in the murder of Julius Caesar was because he thought it was
for the good of Rome. He did not assassinate Caesar for personal gain, nor for any bad intentions,

Deaf People In The 1800s
Americans have little understanding what it s like to be deaf. Deaf people can be found in every
ethnic group, region, and even economic class. Deafness can be hereditary, or even be caused by
accident. What matters is the person get s the education they need in order to survive a society that
is dominated by hearing. In the 1800, hearing people seen deafnessas a horrendous thing. They were
isolated in rural areas away from other deaf people and could barely communicate, because of
lack of education in sign language they had no idea what they could do. As well as deaf parents
having deaf kids they had no idea what their children could achieve without proper education.
Hearing people believed deaf people couldn t be educated at all.

Deaf culture is culture like any other. Deaf people share a language, rules for behavior, values,

preceded it. Deaf history greatly affects how deaf people live their lives today. And not only do
deaf people have a history, they have a culture.

Company Overview Of Kia Motors Corporation
Company overview: Kia is one of the leading automobile manufacturers based in South Korea.
They manufacture and sell a broad line of automobiles such as commercial, passenger and
recreational vehicles. They also contributed in the technology making of eco friendly cars such as
the hybrid electric vehicles. In South Korea, Kia has six research and development centers and

In 1944 Kia Motors was incorporated as Kyungsung Precision Industry but soon changed their
name to Kia Industrial Company (much easy on the ears). Kia listed its shares in the Korean
Stock Exchange in 1973. In 1990 the company name was changed to Kia Motors Corporation. Due

Brutus as having the flaw of possessing an overpowering sense of obligation to abide by the will
of the Roman people. Consequently, Cassius appeals to this quality of Brutus in his recitation of
the praise for Brutus that has been spoken by many of the best [respected people] in Rome who

College Tuition Should Be Free
College Tuition Should Be Free
The rising college tuition fees have been a controversial issue in recent times. The impact of this
phenomenon on the education levels amongst the populations in nations all over the world is a
matter of fact. Most of the affected individuals have been unable to complete their courses because
the fees often become exorbitant and therefore deny them the chance to finish. Some studies even
note that college tuition has risen sharply, reaching record highs, and college graduates are
increasingly finding themselves saddled with debt from student loans used to finance their education
(Abel Deitz, 2014). Other surveys affirm that Socioeconomic Gaps in college enrollment and
attainment have widened over time, despite increasing returns to postsecondary education and
significant policy efforts to improve access (Page Scott Clayton, 2016). This situation has, however,
been argued to be reasonable and economically viable by those who oppose any valuable monetary
reductions. These quarters say that the fees are representative of the apparent economic issues
around the world and therefore should not be an issue of concern what with the financial imbalance
around the world. College tuitions should be free to enhance education dissemination and
encourage the growth of educational advancement.
College tuition should be free to encourage the completion of college degree courses. The
acquisition of college degrees at the moment is below the required

Analysis of Clean Coal Technology
A Report on Clean Coal Technology in Today s Society
As the world we live in today continues to become more focused on going green and doing more
to protect the environment, clean coal technology is one of the key focal points to look at. In 2003,
each person in the United States consumed, on average, 3.7 tons of coal (Ristinen, and Kraushaar
19). This number has obviously increased year by year, and today it looms as a massive number.
Coal usage has some well documented detriments to the environment. Atmospheric problems,
sulfur dioxide and acid rain, and global warming issues all can be directly linked to the heavy
usage of coal burning. We Americans use massive amounts of coal each year, so naturally finding

This allows for the coal which is burned up and used to provide energy to be filled with much
less of the harmful toxins that affect people and the environment. One simple way that this can
be done is by crushing the coal into tiny particles upon arrival at the power plant. After this,
simply washing the goal will do the trick and remove many impurities from it. This method
causes what is called the pyritic sulfur to be washed out. During the washing process, specks of
iron are sent through the coal, bonding with this pyritic sulfur, which can then be easily disposed
of (United States Department of Energy). Usually, during the actual washing process, larger
chunks of coal are placed into a massive water tank. The coal will rise to the top of the water,
whereas some of the other common impurities, namely sulfur, will sink to the bottom. Facilities
around the country which clean coal in this manner are referred to as coal preparation plants
(United States Department of Energy). While some methods, such as the two explained above, are
effective in removing impurities like sulfur from the coal, some sulfur simply cannot be taken out.
This is what we call organic sulfur, which actually is chemically combined with the carbon
molecules in coal. This will prevent any aforementioned cleaning processes from taking out this
sulfur. The only feasible way that this sulfur would be able to be removed is through a chemical
reaction, but so far experiments with this type of

Impact of Technology on the Animation Industry Essay
Impact of Technology on the Animation Industry
In 1988, the live action and animation hybrid Who Framed Roger Rabbit introduced a whole new
way of making animation movies (Elkins, 2003). The three dimensional rendering and the
interaction between live actors, animated figures and environment was revolutionary at that time
(Elkins, 2003). Three years later, in 1991, Beauty and the Beast was an Oscar nominee for best
picture, which showed how popular this genre had become (Elkins, 2003). Since then, rapid
technological changes have improved the quality of animation movies. The use of computers sat a
new standard for animating, with the first computer animated feature released less than ten years
ago (DreamWorks, 2004). This essay... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is not possible to rush art, as they argue, and the process goes through several stages before the
movie is finished. After the art department has added colour and visual looks on figures and
surfaces, three dimensional models are made on computers. This is done by either creating a
sculpture which is scanned or by direct modeling using computer software. Hinges are added to
move the figures, and a character like Woody in Monster Inc. has as much as a hundred hinges in
his face. After the models are made, they are dressed, to make a proper visualization. When making
the shots, virtual cameras are used to record different scenes. Without the aid of the new technology,
it would be impossible to achieve the same results.
After the decision has been made on which virtual camera shot to use, the figures are animated to
create the scene (Pixar, 2004a). At Pixar, they do not paint or draw the figures in the final stage, but
use the ones already made. By using the hinges, the figures are controlled like puppeteers, creating
movement and different emotions. This provides the movie makers with options they would not
have without the new technology. Then, shadows and lighting are added, before the information is
put together to a film in a computer system. This process adds motion blur to the animation. Each
frame of 1/24 seconds screen time takes at least six hours of processing,

Gun Fire Research Paper
The development of weapons is a never ending race driven by fear of another country out gunning
you in a war. It is what countries spend a large portion of their budgets on sometimes upwards of
500 billion dollars. Before supersonic jets or nuclear bombs the advancements in guns and firearms
were revered as breakthroughs that would slaughter hundreds. A big leap in western guntechnology
came during the American Civil War as each side struggled to get the upper hand in the war. Born
through this fire of combat came the riflemusket and the miniГ© bullet. What made the weapon so
effective was its ability to fire at a decent distance and actually stand a chance at hitting its target.

Rimfire bullets are crushed from the side where a chemical called primer lines the edges. This
chemical ignites the gunpowder inside the casing and fires the bullet. The problem with this
method is that the casing has to be skinny enough to be crushed but still funnel all the energy of
the gunpowder into the bullet without breaking. The centerfire was meant to fix that while it was
louder you could have a much more powerful round but having a small circle of primer stick out
the back of the casing. The firing pin would hit just the primer igniting the gunpowder without
crushing the casing. This meant you could have a thicker casing to fire a larger bullet.
Along with centerfire bullets and guns came another advancement that we still use to this day in
almost every common military rifle. The vertical fed magazine at first they were integrated into
the gun itself. Meaning you loaded the bullets from the top of the gun into the magazine that was
attached. This was very common during WWI and was even seen into WWII. The advantage of
these vertically fed magazines was at first not recognized. The tube magazine was still the most
prevalent for quite a while even after the invention of vertical

1920s America s Ignorance
America during the 1920 s is often described as a time of prosperity and change that allowed the
United States to peak. However, what is commonly overlooked is that this era was conflict filled in
which society was blinded by luxurious lifestyles and the entertainment industry; preventing any
solutions from being formed that could deal with the various issues. It was the people s ignorance
and the problem filled cities that slowly pushed America into the great depressionwithin a decade.

There were several conflicts that arose, but the three that had the most negative impacts upon the
United States would have to be the effects of the Red Scare, the return of the KKK, and the
increase of organized crime. In the midst of World War I, Russia and Germany signed a peace
treaty known as the Treaty of Brest Litovsk, in which Russia agreed to exit the Great War and deal
with issues back home. Shortly after this occurred, Vladimir Lenin led the Bolshevik Revolution.
This caused the Czar of Russia to be overthrown, in which Lenin became the new ruler of Russia
and set up the very first communist regime. Communism was determined to be capitalism s rival
and abolish it within the world economy, sparking a wide spread panic among the United States
known as the Red Scare. Americans were scared of communist spreading throughout the United
States in the form of spies or invasion. This caused the government to take rash, unconstitutional

Intervertebral Disk Disorder
Intervertebral Disk Disease (IVDD) is one of the most common spinal cord disorders in small
animals. It is the degenerative process of the intervertebral disk which causes bulging or
herniation into the spinal cord, the disk acts as a cushion and shock absorber for the vertebrae.
Treatment for animals that had severe IVDD with paralysis and no deep pain perception used to
be surgery but recent studies show that surgery might not be the best way to go.
Electroacupuncture sends small electrical signals to the central nervous system and has few
adverse effects. If there is another way to help canines who suffer from IVDD rather than going

How Does Raskolnikov s View Of Religion
Religion has been perceived through various eyes and interpreted in many different ways. Some
people strike against it altogether and do not believe in any of its concepts. In his novel, Crime and
Punishment, Fyodor Dostoevsky reveals a few certain underlying connections between religion and
a person s actions through two main characters, Rodion Romanovitch Raskolnikov and Sofya

firm believer and advocate for God. Corresponding to Dostoevsky s novelare the works of Georg

into the matter of religion, its concepts, and its possible connections. Raskolnikov s nihilistic views

Miller (1994) suggests that species value cannot be properly assessed until a species economic
value is established within a community. Economic value can be focused on two main
categories: use values and non use values. Use values can further be dived into direct and
indirect use values. Direct use defines what resources a particular organism can be used for alone
or systematically while indirect use refers to the benefits that are attributed to the organism when
left in it s natural habitat. There are currently no record of harvesting or selling that can be listed

Marcus Tuly Research Paper
Marcus Tullius Cicero or commonly known as Cicero, was a major Roman philosopher in late
50 BC. Cicero, or Tully as some refer to him as, was a lawyer, politician, orator, poet and so
much more during his era(Wikipedia). Tully was born January 3rd, 106 BC, in Arpinum of the
Roman Republic. Arpinum is currently Lazio of Italy, Tully and his younger brother Quintus was
raised by their mother Helvia and father, Marcus Tullius Cicero It is common to see sons named
after their fathers at roman time(TheFamousPeople). As far as geniuses go, Cicero is perhaps the
greatest noble of the Roman Republic in his time.

But Cicero believed that money had no value, the only thing that was important was proper
pleasure, reason and virtue. Power and approval meant nothing to Marcus and the stoic
teachings he read. These teachings were somewhat based off of Democritus s theory, that
everything was made up of atoms and no God existed(Clayton, Edward). Edward Clayton also
mentions that Cicero made six paradoxes. The beliefs discussed are as follows: moral worth is
the only good; virtue is sufficient for happiness; all sins and virtues are equal; every fool is
insane; only the wise man is really free; only the wise man is really rich (Clayton, Edward).
These writings are his arguments on his views of Stoicism. Though Cicero didn t believe in a
Godly figure he does mention why religion is healthy. Religion was useful because it helped to
control human behavior and could be used as a tool for public policy; and in this context
divination could be useful too (as when an unwise political decision was prevented by the
announcement that the omens were unfavorable)(Clayton Edward). To a surprise, Cicero
believed in free will, but never on fate. When circumstances arrive, and his stoic beliefs, he
acknowledges that humans have a divine right to free will; even as stoic teachings clearly state
that its followers must overcome emotions. Assumptions were proven true as free will seems to be
a second strength for Roman civilization. Marcus took kindly to his growing ambition and support
as time flew by. The iconic dreams and knowledge was not to last for dear Cicero, Mark Antony
despised him as Cicero s proud outspokenness finally caught up to him. December 7th, 43 BC,
Cicero was sentenced to suicide by his own hand, his body parts of his head and hands were later
displayed by Antony. By this time Tully had already divorced two wives and had two children;

Cyber Espionage
ABSTRACT
The aim of this report is to examine the topic of cyber espionage. Incidents and threats of
espionage committed using software tools have become frequent headlines in news stories in
recent years, thus the existence of cyber espionage is undeniable. This report begins with an
introduction of the topic, followed by a literature review. Moving on, two case studies specifically
involving the use of Trojans and sniffers to commit espionage will be discussed. The scope of these
case studies includes the attack mechanisms used and the countermeasures that could plausibly be
adopted, as well as a discussion of each case. 1.0 INTRODUCTION Cyber espionage is the use of

An attacker can run malicious commands on an infected system to delete important files from the
victim system, or format the entire disk. Attackers can also infect systems with a Trojan and use it
to attack another pre defined third party system.
Some Trojans have inbuilt keylogging capabilities to record keystrokes made by the victim on the
infected system. These Trojans can be configured to automatically covertly email the log file
containing the recorded keystrokes to a pre defined email address. It is further possible to
configure an autodestruct feature in the Trojan, so that it automatically gets destroyed at a pre
specified date, and hence leaves few traces behind.
Such Trojans are capable of:
Stealing the contents of sensitive emails and documents
Recording passwords, credit card numbers, account information etc.
Stealing software programming code
2.3.2 Sniffers
Sniffers are recording softwares that record and store data packets being sent across a network.
Typically, sniffers can be used to capture, interpret and store data packets being sent across the
network. These captured data packets can be studied and analyzed to understand solve network
problems and keep track of network traffic. In espionage, sniffers are used to capture sensitive data
being sent across the target network. Common espionage threats associated with sniffers include:
Passwords, bank account

Robespierre, The French Revolution And The Symbol Of Evil...
Those people of the past that are studied as historical figures major and minor make up a virtually
insignificant portion of the people that have inhabited the earth since the beginning of civilization.
And yet to die without a memorable legacy is much more desirable a fate than to be remembered
with enduring hatred for what one accomplished and stood for during life. Certainly, there are
many who deserve to be remembered with spite people whose beliefs and actions were
unacceptable whether evaluated in a modern context or that of their own period. And yet still some
are hated for centuries, mainly due to having made powerful enemies while alive. Maximilien
Robespierre, who is often regarded as the leading figure of the French Revolutionand the symbol of
violent excess during that period, was one such person. Although the view of Robespierre within
the historical community has softened (to a certain degree), he remains a personification of evil
in the public mind. For example, the first result of a quick Google search for most evil people
includes a list of 25 historical figures, with Robespierre at no. 17, ahead of others such as Adolf
Eichmann, Heinrich Himmler, and Osama bin Laden. While this website is by no means a
scholarly source, it serves to underline the way in which the average person views Robespierre in
a grossly inaccurate fashion. The legacy that was created for Robespierre by political opponents
who used him as a scapegoat is not at all one that

Human Nature And Nature In The Ecotone By James Clifford
Human actions do not disturb the pristineness of nature but add into the pristineness by enhancing
nature. Artificial structures, such as the landfills and flood control gates aid in protection of
property, but cause destruction of certain animal habitats. However, artificial structures in the Bay
Area have an ecotonal relationship with nature. Building the floodgates sacrifice the habitatin place
of the floodgate, but in the long term, protects more habitats. In The Ecotone by James Clifford,
Clifford shows the university has a symbiotic relationship with nature. In Man, the Dominant
Animal by RatCliffe, RatCliffe introduces how human actions go through a cycle of aiding and
destroying peregrine life. Landfills help reduce the contamination of toxic chemicals with nature.
Floodgates protect buildings against nature s floods, which create millions of dollars in damage of
trees and animal habitat. In the Bay Area, cities, such as Milpitas debate if a floodgate is more
beneficial or damaging, and San Francisco debated how to remove the contamination from the rust
of old war ships. In my interview with MetCalfe, MetCalfe claims that human machines help nature
dispose of waste through the use of anaerobic digesters. Artificial structures have an ecotonal
relationship with nature because the relationship consists of a mergence between the two
communities. This is important because humans must create artificial structures in a way that will
not harm nature. In the writing, In the Ecotone by Jim Clifford, Clifford argues that the composite
environment is always being assembled and reassembled with friction and difficulty (Clifford 7). In
other words, the intersection between human made structures is a natural event of nature because
nature continually consists of rearrangement of members. Gathering from Clifford, artificial
structures, such as buildings, do not disturb nature but are a part of the natural ecotone. This view
is important today because many have a one sided, negative view of construction of buildings. In
San Francisco protest that the new skyscraperdestroys the beauty of the city by blocking the sun.
However, the skyscraper is part of the developing city and creates many habitats for eagles

The use of mercenaries dates back to medieval ages, where kings and queens frequently hired
them to fight battles in their name, and handle revolts and rebellions. However, the industry of
hired soldiers was driven underground, and became nothing more than a whisper on the tongues
of those who sought to use them for small conflicts and issues. Ironically, the development of
drones and high tech weaponry has caused a revolution in the world of soldiers of fortune, and
their presence in the battlefield is not unheard of in these violent times. So, knowing that they re
back, why haven t we employed them globally? Well, the answer is that it s simply hard to trust
these combatants; after all, mercenaries have a notorious history of abandoning their original
contractors for a higher bidder. Furthermore, having to keep them in check is a hassle; the US
typically prefers for these corporations to abide by a ruleset on what they can and cannot use
during armed conflicts. The issue with this is that we would be handicapping our own soldiers,
and the risk of letting them use banned military equipment is simply too much. Don t be
mistaken, however; these armed mercenaries are far from weak, and they typically employ the
best of the best. They also hold possession over numerous weapons, ranging from M4 carbines to
armored vehicles that have been sold by various countries. To restate, the standard PMS is too
costly, and too risky to deploy over our own armed forces, despite having a solid foothold in the war
economy.

Examples Of Silence In Fahrenheit 451
Montag lives in a selfish society where everyone thinks solely about themselves. When Montag
says this is the age of the disposable tissue, he is not really referencing the handkerchief someone
would blow their nose with. He is enlightening the reader on how people in his society only
utilize other people for the goods and services they contribute. Someone in his society would be
friends with another person merely because they could benefit them in some way. An example
from the book that would prove he is correct is when Mildred uses Montag for the money he is
able to provide her with. When he threatens to quit his job, she leaves him and calls the fire
department exposing his secret stash of books. He is implying that this is an unacceptable way of
life. Montag used to act this way and think nothing of it. Then he met Clarisse and she... Show more

Being alone in a silent room with only my thoughts makes me feel uncomfortable. My mind has
free roam in silence to go wherever it wants. I never truly have silence because I fill it with other
things. The things vary, from homework to music on my speaker, to Netflix on my TV. It has
become hard for me to complete simple household tasks without some sound to fill my brain. I
have been taught since I was young that silence is bad, it s awkward, it s not desirable. Filling
my time with things to do is a much better use of the limited time I am allowed on this earth. I
think this is because my phone is always there with me, buzzing, ringing, chirping, and pinging.
It doesn t allow silence to creep its way in. It keeps me engaged all the time leaving no time left
for me. I see that my mom enjoys silence and so does my older sister, but somehow I do not. I
see what my phone does but somehow I am addicted. It s worse than a drug because I can not go
without it. It has changed the lives of people in my generation and there is no going back.
Technology ruined silence and will ruin our

UNIVAC 1 was created to process data like Herman Hollerith s tabulator over 50 years before,

between the late 1930s and the early 1950s. Not all of them were invented by the mathematician or
physician. Among those machines were pioneering computers put together by english academics
notably Manchester/Ferrenti Mark 1, built at Manchester University by Frederic Williams and
Thomas Kilburn. And the EDSAC, Electronic Delay Storage Automatic Calculator built by
Maurice Wilkes at Cambridge University. The microelectronic revolution started when they were

2000 times as much electricity as the modern laptop. Not just that, the modern term for a problem
that holds up a computer program is a bug . Popular legend has it that this word entered the
vocabulary of computer programmers sometimes in the 1950s when moths, attracted by the
glowing lights of vacuum tubes, flew inside machines and caused a short circuit. In order to create
more advance computer, would have needed hundreds of thousands or even millions of tubes,

That s why they have to act as a bridge between a given project and how that project fits into the
broader context. Architects make presentations to clients, discuss design programs and problems
and alternative solutions, appear before public bodies and are frequently referring, explaining,
teaching and persuading (6 essential skills for an architect, 2005). One of the major benefits that an
architect has to bring to the enterprise is to integrate the solution for a particular project with the
business domain, enterprise concerns, industry standards, established patterns, and best practices.
Next, architects have to analyze the data that they have collected accurately and deeply to know
every single detail about their project. The analysis consists of knowing the key elements of the
problem and the solution to find the relationship between them and to notice how they can be
combined together to provide a higher value. As Daigneau said, Finally I reluctantly answered
stating that I thought architects should have a good understanding of the business problem domain
including its general strategies and tactics (Daigneau, 2005). Once the overall is

Family Culture In Powder By Tobias Wolff
Culture is a product of the human mind and it is defined through language. The language and
culture related because language shows an expression of the culture. Therefore, when we learn
language, we also need to learn about the culture of it. This paper aims to discuss a cultural point
like family life and relationship in the story Powder by Tobias Wolff and compare it with the one
similar to that of our culture.
We know that not all of the children can have a good family, live with their parents, smile and
laugh together. Every family has their own problems and sometimes the children have to live
separate with their father or their mother. However, it is not a bad life if there is still a relationship
among the member of a family like in the story Powder by Tobias Wolff which tells about the
relationship between father and son with broken home situations. This story has some cultural
points of family life and relationship that will be explained including young adulthood, family roles,
promptness, future time.
The first cultural point is young adulthood. In this story, we know that the father try to pass the
road with full of snow around although there is a barricade which blocking the road. He also ask
his son to move the barricade, so they can go. However, the father says to his son to never try ...

Indonesian family. Children in Indonesia is asked to be open minded and have a wide knowledge,
but still the parents control and monitor the children activities. Sometimes, young adulthoods

The Pros And Cons Of Supreme Court Justices
At present, all federal judges have lifetime tenure; it has been this way since the drafting of the
United States Constitution. Many contend that when the Constitution was drafted, the life
expectancy then was less than half of what it is now in the 21st century. One of the major
criterion for selection was the expectation that the candidate had a longer life expectancy. In other
words, the candidate must be young enough to serve for several decades. By limiting the term of
Supreme Court Justices to that of eighteen years, doing so would provide the potential for an
increased sensibility to modern politics and life. If we were to continue to adhere to the verbiage
of Article III, Section 1 of the Constitution, justices could continue to hold the position provided
each exhibits good behavior. The question remains whether the pros would outweigh the cons of
bringing new life and younger insight into the Court and would it tip the scales and force our
legislators to apply term limits.
What then would be the benefit of limiting the term of a Supreme Court Justice? The reasoning for
the limitation begins with the level of contention that becomes present in the United States Senate
when a vacancy evolves. For the purpose of enlightenment, we can reflect back to the ... Show more

The premise in the aforementioned statement is not indicative of the inability to remove a Justice if
their mental capacity becomes an issue. Prior to impeachment proceedings, judges could and
should, encourage their colleagues into retirement rather than experience the embarrassment of an
impeachment proceeding. The removal process for a Justice would not change; it does not hold
sufficient weight in the debate because if limits were placed on a Justice s tenure, if their actions
become questionable, impeachment proceedings would still be

A Brief Note On Companies And The Largest Ever Consumer...
Case Study #2: Maxxed Out: TJX Companies and the Largest Ever Consumer Data Breach
There are five components to the operations security process that companies use to analyze. These
five modules provide a company a full analysis of the risks, vulnerabilities, and threats of their data
and how to mitigate them. This process identifies all the critical information the company or
organization have such a credit card information like TJX had on their main server. Identifying this
information is crucial so the business knows what valuable assets, or data is being stored. If a
company does not recognize this material, the material is unprotected.
Once the information has been identified, the organization or enterprise will complete an analysis ...

Also, TJX did not apply counter measures in place of those defined vulnerabilities or threats which
costed the company huge losses. If the company implemented the WPA securityprotocol, the risks
could have been small.
There are multiple methods to improve the security at TJX to prevent future breaches. The network
wireless system should be upgraded to Wi Fi Protected Access2, WPA2, from WEP. WPA2
provides the most secure protocol that is available on a wireless network. WPA2 uses Advanced
Encryption Standard to encrypt all the data when the data is in motion. AES encryption takes a
hacker months, even years to break. If the company wants customers to have free Wi Fi then have
two separate networks in which one is has a network password and other just requires a login with
terms and conditions.
For the wired/wireless connections, TJX can institute a virtual private network, or VPN, to connect
with the servers that have sensitive information. This allows the connection between the servers
and device to be secure but the data is not. VPN does have limitation such as devices, but is an
alternative to WPA2 and better than WEP. VPN is ideal for documents such as sales reports,
inventory, and strategies. TJX must implement these standards on all of the retail locations to
safeguard all the data being processed throughout the business day.

Essay on Womens Roles in Society
Women s roles have changed so much within the last couple of centuries. In the older years,
women were the sole responsibility of taking care of the children, doing housework, and pretty
much taking care of their husbands. The Story of an Hour, by Kate Chopin, A Doll s House,
Henrik Ibsen, and The Yellow Wallpaper, by Charlotte Gilman are all literature pieces talking
about the roles women have in society. In The story of an Hour, the main character is not happy in
her marriage, and she finds out that her husband got killed, and she felt very free. In A Doll s
House, the main character is not happy with her marriage, because she feels that she is being
treated like a childish, playful doll, and does not get any respect from her... Show more content on

The conflict in the story is that Mrs. Mallard is way too happy about her husband dying. After

  • 2. Transformers Movie Pros And Cons The Transformers franchise has been in existence since the 1980 s when both its cartoon and comic series first came out. Since then, multitudes of various television series, comic series, and films are produced continuously to this day. Though each series stories and characters come in a variety of darkness, storyline, continuity, and such, the battle between the divided factions of Autobots and Decepticons lead by Optimus Prime and Megatron, respectively, remains evident between nearly all of the variations (Fred). Despite all the changes and differences, the fans remain loyal to the Hasbro owned franchise. Its continued relevance today is most likely thanks to Transformersfranchise s perfect formula of fantastical escape, well developed writing, and opportunism that, to this day, continues to retain its popularity on medias of all kind. As with any form of entertainment, Transformers is a place that fans choose to escape to from reality, or at least, better cope with it in some cases. Often set in a post war scenario where both sides are left to abandon their home planet of Cybertron and take providence on Planet Earth, the variations often deal with themes such as alienation, unfamiliar territories, the effects of war and the politics behind it (Pirrello). Even while many of the cartoon series may water down the severity of the situation, the reality remains the same between all of them, and the familiarity they provide can make it easier to understand, also. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) exist to make financial reporting consistent while reducing fraud and material errors. Because GAAP guidance is crucial for public and private companies depend heavily upon it to make financial decisions. Through GAAP, the entity understands how to properly carry out the accrual accounting process and most importantly when to recognize revenue. However, what happens when GAAP guidance is not sufficient or non existent in its interpretations of gray areas? Here lies the question that accountants and the crypto currency community of bitcoin has requested answers too for the last few years. After the release of Internal Revenue Service(IRS) tax... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most entities do not have the technological capability to keep track of up to date bitcoin market prices at the time of bitcoin exchange. Providers such as BitPay or Coinbase have effectively made it easy to account for bitcoin by immediately transforming bitcoin into a legal unit of currency. For this reason, the business that accepts bitcoin are transferring bitcoin to a third party and the third party is transferring legal tender. Traditional accounting systems can then classify and record the transaction. Due to bitcoins nature and the legality of it the IRS has classified it as property and not currency for U.S. federal tax purposes. General tax principles that relate to property transactions apply to transactions using bitcoin and other virtual currencies. The IRS states virtual currency has an equivalent value in real currency, or that it acts as a convertible virtual currency (AICPA 2014). Bitcoin is a legal, financial investment and legal for trade and exchange into United States Dollars (USD) under IRS guidance. When receiving bitcoins as payment the coins are computed to gross income by using the fair market value of the virtual currency on that date. Byzantium Feudalism Essay Though initially economic development of Byzantium was defined by that the emperor was the supreme owner of land and the state had a considerable fund of the lands belonging only to the state treasury. These lands were so extensive that the peasants living on them could not always process them. As a result, the state and imperial lands surrendered in long term rent. The state widely used practice of grant of lands for service military or state. As a result, in Byzantium there were feudal forms of land tenure which reminded feudal possession in Western Europe. • 7. Antigone Vs Duccio The most important difference between MaestГ and Antigone is the message that each portrays to society. Duccio di Buoninsegna s series of individualized paintings depicting the Virgin Mary display her as a central figure that is respected and possibly worshiped by both men and women. Sophocles play on the other hand displays female oppression through his main character and the lack of dedication to religion by men. I think this is an important differencebecause each work of art exposes the beliefs that each artist conveys about their individualized society. Even though there are many distinctions between Duccio s MaestГ and Sophocles Antigone, I believe that the most important difference is the message that each... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For starters, Antigone was created in 441 BCE Athens, a city state in Ancient Greece, where the only thing more powerful than a man s pride in Athens political system was preserving their egos. During this time, it was evident that the women were firmly wedged underneath the thumb of Athenian men. The playwright s tragedy encompasses this several times through his characters. He writes, As far as she s concerned, we bear no guilt. But she s lost her place living here with us, (Sophocles Excerpt 4). In this quote Antigone s uncle, King Creon ostracizes his niece because she disobeyed his demands when she performed a burial custom for her brother, Polyneices. This quote assists in proving that one of the major messages of Sophocles play is the domination of Athenian men over women. During Sophocles life, Athenian females were not able to attend the plays, defend themselves in court, choose who they would marry, or spend their money freely. This idea was reinforced in his play by showing the harshness of Antigone s treatment by King Creon, exhibiting that females were not equal and certainly did not have the same liberties as men did. • 8. St. Thomas Aquinas Influence On Religion Both in the times of St. Thomas Aquinas and in our times, there are many other religions. To avoid an everlasting war many chose to accept those of the different religions. The Catholic Church teaches that it is the true Church and that salvation cannot be found outside of the Catholic Church (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 816). When St. Thomas Aquinas speaks of unbelievers he speaks of those who are not Catholic. Even though Aquinas is addressing Catholics, his views can be used today to address other denominations of Christianitythat did not exist in his time. Unbelievers are very different from heretics. While the Church tends to treat unbelievers the same as they have for many years, it no longer treats heretics in the way they once... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sharing of many of these opposing views allows for questions to arise of who could possibly be excommunicated. In the twenty first century most, excommunications have occurred due to an individual s stance on the topics of abortion, homosexual marriage, or for the ordination of female priest. Four prominent figures in today s time have used social media to convey their opinions and their opinions have had many people calling for their excommunications. Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, and Tim Kaine are all public speakers who have exclaimed views different from Church teachings while claiming to be Catholic. These views can include abortion, contraception, homosexual marriage, the ordination of women priest, of many other issues. Fr. James Martin is also known for his views that oppose the Catholic Church. Fr. James Martin has often spoken out and interpreted the Bible in ways many would call heretical or he has referred to the Holy Spirit with feminine pronouns. Fr. Martin has also promoted transgenderism in children and the lack of chastity in same sex relationships (The Vortex). These four Catholics have used social media as an outlet to oppose the Catholic Church and through undermining them, they have been viewed as heretics by many. Their use of social media has made it even more dangerous to the souls of others because their heresy is quickly spread and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Observation Of Elephants What species performs burials, has the ability to cry, and form many complex relationships throughout their lives? Elephants. Since many individuals might have guessed humans or primates first, this one question shows the complexity of this species. Transition This paper tries to answer one main question: How does elephantbehavior, both in captive and wild settings, provide data that can lead to evidence based practices for building captive enclosures, daily activities, and help with conservation practices, both in captivity and in the wild. For this discussion, I am going to focus on the family, Elephantidae, as a whole. It is hard to create and provide hard evidence to support this ideal when there is not a linguistic way to communicate between humans and other species. For the purposes of this discussion I will use Breed and Moore s definition: Cognition is the ability of an animal to separate itself from the moment in which it is living and to contemplate the past, predict the future, and act accordingly (2016). Cognition experiments on elephants did not begin until the late 1950 s, starting with Rensch s study on memory. Since than scientist s have tested/ studied problem solving, rituals, emotions, deception, casual reasoning, tool making, and tool use within elephants with many having positive results (Plotnik et al., 2010). One aspect of cognition that has been tested in many primates in the recent years is the mirror self recognition test; this is considered the basic level of cognition. Plotnik and colleagues completed this test with three female elephants at the Bronx Zoo (2010). This test involves three stages, where each shows a level of recognition. Though none of the elephants passed the mark part of the test, they showed many other characteristics that indicated self recognition (that was in other species like chimpanzees and bottle nose dolphins). However, the discrepancy could be due to the way elephants identify one another: through touch, sounds, and smell, which a mirror cannot replicate (Plotnik et ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Plot Summary of Remember the Titans Essays Remember the Titans is a film from 2000 displaying a true story of a racially divided football team from the 1970s. The movie highlights the relationships of the black and white people, and how they learned to interact with each other in a time when this was not the way of life. It brings up a number of questions throughout, of what is right and what is wrong, and really challenges the characters, making it a very interesting movie to watch. I have seen this movie many times, and each time I feel like I get something new out of it. It is a movie that can be used as a teaching tool, it does a great job of interpreting not only what was happening in the United States of America at that time, but social psychologyconcepts through real life... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The text explains that, They may label each other as enemies, view their own group as morally superior, draw the boundaries between themselves and their opponents more firmly, and, under extreme conditions, may come to see the opposing group as not even human (Baron Branscombe, 2012). I would not say that the characters in the movie took this idea as far as the text explains, but there were many examples of this happening. The first example would be between the coaches. Coach Boone was given Coach Yoast s coaching position, and offers him an assistant position for the team. Coach Yoast accepts the position, only for his players, but ensuring that his old assistant gets a job as well. Now that the teams have integrated, there really is not enough room for all the coaches, and it seems like each group is looking out for their own. Coach Boone also has his assistant working with him, so now this makes four different coaches for T.C. William s football team. With all of this happening the two white coaches and the two black coaches are not 100% getting along. They do not agree with one another s ideas and have clear prejudices about one another, displaying the realistic conflict theory. They all want to be doing the same thing but there were not enough spots, so they think negatively of each other and often butt heads. This same idea moves onto the players. Each player, black and white, had their spot on their old team where they were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The New Day For America According The Center for Responsive Politics, as of January 31, 2016, Kasich raised a total of $15.3 million across all affiliated campaign committees and has not self financed (2016). Given this amount, Kasich is ranked 12th out of all the 2016 presidential candidates and was close to the national average of $19.3 million (Fugleberg and Thompson 2016). Kasich for America, his official committee, raised $8.4 million with $7.4 million of that coming from large individual contributions (Center for Responsive Politics 2016). However, after an independently wealthy celebrity and two established federal candidates were identified by the voters as frontrunners, the fundraising strategy needed to adjust and aggressively seek donations instead of waiting for them to come. Kasich, like his debate style, chose to lay in wait for the opportunity to strike and make his presence known, but he is just being outspent and is getting outpaced (Everett 2016). Not everyone, especially potential donators, share Kasich s optimism and do not want to spend money on a perceived lost cause. Especially, with Trump dominating the election and media cycles enhancing his first place lead. With that being said, Kasich and his campaign managers are being exceptionally frugal and cost efficient with their limited funds (Levinson 2016). Their budgeting skills and ability to save money for ads in New Hampshire and in the Super Tuesday states may be a source of Kasich s optimism. They were acutely aware from the beginning that they would not receive money on the level of Clinton or Cruz until Super Tuesday at the earliest. So, they have done an exceptional job keeping Kasich in fourth place on a twelfth place budget. Traditional Media Following the New Hampshire primary, Kasich hired Republican media consultant Rex Elsass to assist Fred Davis in overseeing the campaign s television ads ... • 12. Reasons For Green And Blue Spaces The number of people living in urban areas is dramatically increasing across the world. Currently, 75 % of people live in cities in the developed world, (Bernhardt E.S. and Palmer M.A, 2007) despite such high percentage many do not get access to the green and blue spaces available, in other words cannot interact with nature. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency green spaces are land that is partly or completely covered with grass, trees, shrubs or other vegetation (Environmental Protection Agency, 2014) This includes community gardens, parks as well as cemeteries. (Environmental Protection Agency, 2014) On the other hand, blue spaces include rivers, canals and lakes. (Sally, M, 2010) As urbanisation increases, it will pose a greater threat to nature such as pollution, habitat destruction, erosion and colonisation of native species. There are various ways to engage with nature. However, one reason for green and blue spaces not being utilised effectively by people may be due to people being unaware of the values that these have and the crucial functions they undertake in the ecosystem such as recycling nutrients and controlling the hydrological cycle. This essay will explore the social, ecological and economic values of green and blue spaces as a whole as many of the values interrelate and describe some of the approaches being used to improve access to nature. These approaches will be classified into three main categories: river restoration, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Summary Of China Simulation To preface, my group did a simulation based on the Communist Chinese communes in the 1950s. What went well with our simulation was that it was engaging. Due to the timed component of each corn harvesting season, there was a race against the clock mentality which ultimately, required a lot of focus and attention to the activity. In addition, since there are two communes competing against each other, it helped bring out the competitive nature of our participants. One way that they simulation could have been improved would be by adding more background information about China during this time and talking more about the definition of a commune. One comment that was made was that this activity was very fun, but it felt more like a farming game... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words, the results of implementing a simulation can be multi faceted. One could say a simulation could improve skills such as public speaking, looking at and synthesizing evidence, communication skills, working together and collaboration, etc. One could also say a simulation can improve student s ability to remember concepts such as economic principles, historical events, parts of the brain, etc. It truly depends on the class that one teaches and the age group that determines which learning goals to focus on. Another strategic use of simulations is to allow time at the end of the simulation for discussion and debrief. At the teacher panel, one teacher mentioned how he had a simulation but didn t allow time for a discussion, which ultimately was harmful. My goal would be to allow time for discussion to not only allow students to take a breather but to also talk about how the simulation connects to things learned in the ... • 15. The Importance Of Elementary Writing Writing in a horizontal line is essential for students in the elementary setting. Writing first begins in preschool, within the following year student s knowledge of words increases greatly. A student s writing and reading skills only continue to grow as he/she reaches middle and high school. Students use writingin a variety of different ways especially in the elementary setting. Writing may be used to describe a picture, how the student is feeling, to share information and more. It is essential that students are given the opportunity to demonstrate strong writing skills throughout elementary school. Although writing is essential in the development of students, many students lack the foundational writing skills needed to be effective. Only 25% of students in the National Assessment of Educational Progress were classified as competent writers (Persky, Daane, Jin, 2003). The purpose of this study is to assist the student (Jaden) with writing in a horizontal line across the page when forming sentences. Jaden can write complete sentences without the assistance of teachers, but his sentences are never in order. Jaden tends to write words within the sentence anywhere when provided with a sheet of paper. Being able to form sentences correctly across the page is important for the student to understand what he is writing. When asked to read back what he wrote, the student is often unable because of his inability to form sentences correctly across the page. The task is when given ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Brutus Was The Noblest Roman Of Them All This was the noblest Roman of them all . This quote was said by Antony, one of the characters in the play Julius Caesar. This quote was said about Brutus, friend of both Mark Antony and Caesar. I believe Brutus was the noblest of them all because not only was he highly respected in the very beginning of the play, but because he was honest in his thoughts and actions. Brutus is considered the noblest of them all because of a few reasons. One of the reasons is that he was very reluctant to kill Caesar. Brutus was the only person out of the group, which included, Cassius, and Casca who did not envy Caesar. Brutus did not have a vendetta against Caesar. In 2003, each person in the United States consumed, on average, 3.7 tons of coal (Ristinen, and Kraushaar 19). This number has obviously increased year by year, and today it looms as a massive number. Coal usage has some well documented detriments to the environment. This allows for the coal which is burned up and used to provide energy to be filled with much less of the harmful toxins that affect people and the environment. One simple way that this can be done is by crushing the coal into tiny particles upon arrival at the power plant. After this, simply washing the goal will do the trick and remove many impurities from it. This method causes what is called the pyritic sulfur to be washed out. During the washing process, specks of iron are sent through the coal, bonding with this pyritic sulfur, which can then be easily disposed of (United States Department of Energy). Usually, during the actual washing process, larger chunks of coal are placed into a massive water tank. The coal will rise to the top of the water, whereas some of the other common impurities, namely sulfur, will sink to the bottom. Facilities around the country which clean coal in this manner are referred to as coal preparation plants (United States Department of Energy). While some methods, such as the two explained above, are effective in removing impurities like sulfur from the coal, some sulfur simply cannot be taken out. This is what we call organic sulfur, which actually is chemically combined with the carbon molecules in coal. This will prevent any aforementioned cleaning processes from taking out this sulfur. The only feasible way that this sulfur would be able to be removed is through a chemical reaction, but so far experiments with this type of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After the art department has added colour and visual looks on figures and surfaces, three dimensional models are made on computers. This is done by either creating a sculpture which is scanned or by direct modeling using computer software. Hinges are added to move the figures, and a character like Woody in Monster Inc. has as much as a hundred hinges in his face. After the models are made, they are dressed, to make a proper visualization. When making the shots, virtual cameras are used to record different scenes. Without the aid of the new technology, it would be impossible to achieve the same results. After the decision has been made on which virtual camera shot to use, the figures are animated to create the scene (Pixar, 2004a). At Pixar, they do not paint or draw the figures in the final stage, but use the ones already made. By using the hinges, the figures are controlled like puppeteers, creating movement and different emotions. This provides the movie makers with options they would not have without the new technology. The centerfire was meant to fix that while it was louder you could have a much more powerful round but having a small circle of primer stick out the back of the casing. The beliefs discussed are as follows: moral worth is the only good; virtue is sufficient for happiness; all sins and virtues are equal; every fool is insane; only the wise man is really free; only the wise man is really rich (Clayton, Edward). These writings are his arguments on his views of Stoicism. Though Cicero didn t believe in a Godly figure he does mention why religion is healthy. Artificial structures, such as the landfills and flood control gates aid in protection of property, but cause destruction of certain animal habitats. However, artificial structures in the Bay Area have an ecotonal relationship with nature. Building the floodgates sacrifice the habitatin place of the floodgate, but in the long term, protects more habitats. In The Ecotone by James Clifford, Clifford shows the university has a symbiotic relationship with nature. In Man, the Dominant Animal by RatCliffe, RatCliffe introduces how human actions go through a cycle of aiding and destroying peregrine life. Landfills help reduce the contamination of toxic chemicals with nature. Floodgates protect buildings against nature s floods, which create millions of dollars in damage of trees and animal habitat. In the Bay Area, cities, such as Milpitas debate if a floodgate is more beneficial or damaging, and San Francisco debated how to remove the contamination from the rust of old war ships. In my interview with MetCalfe, MetCalfe claims that human machines help nature dispose of waste through the use of anaerobic digesters. Artificial structures have an ecotonal relationship with nature because the relationship consists of a mergence between the two communities. This is important because humans must create artificial structures in a way that will not harm nature. In the writing, In the Ecotone by Jim Clifford, Clifford argues that the composite environment is always being assembled and reassembled with friction and difficulty (Clifford 7). In other words, the intersection between human made structures is a natural event of nature because nature continually consists of rearrangement of members. Gathering from Clifford, artificial structures, such as buildings, do not disturb nature but are a part of the natural ecotone. Scavengers In The Military Humankind has been waging war since the first sword was crafted by the warmongering tribes that sought to overthrow each other, and death upon the battlefield has become a daily routine. A boy grows up, bears the mantle of soldier, and dies for a cause that not even he can fully understand. Meanwhile, the world prepares for the inevitable with rising conflicts, and radical militants striving to bring about a world that follows solely their beliefs. The use of mercenaries dates back to medieval ages, where kings and queens frequently hired them to fight battles in their name, and handle revolts and rebellions. However, the industry of hired soldiers was driven underground, and became nothing more than a whisper on the tongues of those who sought to use them for small conflicts and issues. Ironically, the development of drones and high tech weaponry has caused a revolution in the world of soldiers of fortune, and their presence in the battlefield is not unheard of in these violent times. So, knowing that they re back, why haven t we employed them globally? Well, the answer is that it s simply hard to trust these combatants; after all, mercenaries have a notorious history of abandoning their original contractors for a higher bidder. Furthermore, having to keep them in check is a hassle; the US typically prefers for these corporations to abide by a ruleset on what they can and cannot use during armed conflicts. The issue with this is that we would be handicapping our own soldiers, and the risk of letting them use banned military equipment is simply too much. Don t be mistaken, however; these armed mercenaries are far from weak, and they typically employ the best of the best. They also hold possession over numerous weapons, ranging from M4 carbines to armored vehicles that have been sold by various countries. To restate, the standard PMS is too costly, and too risky to deploy over our own armed forces, despite having a solid foothold in the war economy. When Montag says this is the age of the disposable tissue, he is not really referencing the handkerchief someone would blow their nose with. He is enlightening the reader on how people in his society only utilize other people for the goods and services they contribute. Someone in his society would be friends with another person merely because they could benefit them in some way. An example from the book that would prove he is correct is when Mildred uses Montag for the money he is able to provide her with. Many contend that when the Constitution was drafted, the life expectancy then was less than half of what it is now in the 21st century. One of the major criterion for selection was the expectation that the candidate had a longer life expectancy. In other words, the candidate must be young enough to serve for several decades. By limiting the term of Supreme Court Justices to that of eighteen years, doing so would provide the potential for an increased sensibility to modern politics and life. If we were to continue to adhere to the verbiage of Article III, Section 1 of the Constitution, justices could continue to hold the position provided each exhibits good behavior. The question remains whether the pros would outweigh the cons of bringing new life and younger insight into the Court and would it tip the scales and force our legislators to apply term limits. What then would be the benefit of limiting the term of a Supreme Court Justice? The reasoning for the limitation begins with the level of contention that becomes present in the United States Senate when a vacancy evolves. If the company implemented the WPA securityprotocol, the risks could have been small. There are multiple methods to improve the security at TJX to prevent future breaches. The network wireless system should be upgraded to Wi Fi Protected Access2, WPA2, from WEP. WPA2 provides the most secure protocol that is available on a wireless network. WPA2 uses Advanced Encryption Standard to encrypt all the data when the data is in motion. AES encryption takes a hacker months, even years to break. If the company wants customers to have free Wi Fi then have two separate networks in which one is has a network password and other just requires a login with terms and conditions. For the wired/wireless connections, TJX can institute a virtual private network, or VPN, to connect with the servers that have sensitive information. This allows the connection between the servers and device to be secure but the data is not. VPN does have limitation such as devices, but is an alternative to WPA2 and better than WEP. VPN is ideal for documents such as sales reports, inventory, and strategies. TJX must implement these standards on all of the retail locations to safeguard all the data being processed throughout the business day. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
