How To Write A Scholarship Essay Format
Writing an essay on the topic "How To Write A Scholarship Essay Format" can be a challenging
task that requires careful consideration and attention to detail. The difficulty lies not only in
conveying the necessary information but also in structuring the essay in a way that effectively
communicates your ideas. Here are some of the challenges you might encounter:
1. Research: Before you start writing, you need to conduct thorough research to
understand the key elements of a scholarship essay format. This involves looking into
successful scholarship essays, understanding the specific requirements of the scholarship
you're applying for, and gathering relevant information about yourself.
2. Clarity of Purpose: It's essential to clearly convey why you deserve the scholarship and
how it aligns with your goals. Striking the right balance between humility and
confidence can be challenging, as you want to showcase your achievements without
coming across as arrogant.
3. Structuring Content: Organizing your thoughts and experiences coherently is crucial.
Creating a logical flow from introduction to conclusion while addressing all necessary
components, such as academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and future goals,
requires careful planning.
4. Conciseness: Given the often limited word count for scholarship essays, expressing
yourself concisely while still providing all essential information can be a difficult task.
You need to prioritize the most impactful details and avoid unnecessary information.
5. Originality: Scholarship committees read numerous essays, so standing out is a
challenge. Finding a unique angle or personal story that sets your essay apart from others
is essential to making a lasting impression.
6. Grammar and Style: The essay must be well-written with proper grammar and style. A
poorly written essay can detract from the content, no matter how compelling your story
may be.
Despite these challenges, mastering the art of crafting a compelling scholarship essay format is a
valuable skill. It not only increases your chances of securing financial aid but also hones your
ability to communicate effectively in writing.
In conclusion, writing an essay on this topic necessitates a combination of research, self-
reflection, and effective communication skills. Remember, seeking assistance or examples from
reliable sources can guide you in the right direction. If you find the task overwhelming, there are
resources available that can provide further support.

Persuasive Techniques In Bowling For Columbine
A documentary is a genre of film that provides a factual report on a particular story,
viewpoint, message or experience. In this essay, two documentaries, Bowling for
columbine by Michael Moore and Made in Bangladesh by CBC news will be
explored to show how persuasive techniques are used to make an audience feel a
particular way.
Firstly, Bowling for Columbine Moore s addresses the issue of gun violence in
America following a school shooting. On the other hand, Made in Bangladesh by
CBC news focuses on the issue of sweatshops and maltreatment of workers in
Bangladesh after the collapsing of an uncertified sweatshop. These two documentaries
effectively and successfully use persuasive techniques to present a confrontational
message on social justice. Also, they position the audience to sympathize with the
victims and in turn want to do something about the issue. These techniques include
the use careful selection of material, the use of cinematography, music and sound
effects, sequencing and editing. Although the two documentaries have different
content they equally manage to persuade viewers that the content is meaningful. The
impact that the documentaries had on me or other audience members was that of
sympathy and outrage about the incidents that fell upon innocent people featured in
these documentaries.
Both documentaries were careful about the material which was used and the that
information was included and excluded. One similar trait that both documentaries

Examples Of Code Of Ethics In Counseling
Ethics: (noun) moral principles that govern a person s behavior or the conducting of
an activity.
As a professional, licensed counselor we have tons of rules to follow, and the Code
of Ethics is the most important. Before you can even become a licensed counselor,
you must understand each part of the code of ethics. You may not break these terms
without receiving formal punishment, some of which may include loss of licensure.
The ACA Code of Ethics serves six main purposes: 1. The Code sets forth the
ethical obligations of ACA members and provides guidance intended to inform the
ethical practice of professional counselors. 2. The Code identifies ethical
considerations relevant to professional counselors and counselors in training. 3. The
Code enables the association to clarify for current and prospective members, and for
those served by members, the nature of the ethical responsibilities held in common
by its members. 4. The Code serves as an ethical guide designed to assist members in
constructing a course of action that best serves those utilizing counseling services and
establishes expectations of conduct with a primary emphasis on the role of the
professional counselor. 5. The Code helps to support the mission ... Show more

For example, if a client describes abusive behavior toward their children, the
therapist is mandated to file a report with social services. Clients, themselves, need
to be aware of both the requirements and the limits of confidentiality. (College of
Saint Benedict, Saint John s Uni, 2014.) However, you should always get a second
opinion on what to report before you do it. You can never be too careful when it
comes to Ethical Codes and laws of counselors. You must protect confidentiality and
thoroughly discuss it with your client. Never leave them unknown to their rights,
laws and responsibility of a
Economic Development And Economic Growth
Economic development has the potential to transform regions as it creates an
enabling environment for economic growth. Economic development is also
associated with expanding the capacity of individuals and communities to maximize
the use of their available resources. The extent of economic growth depends on the
type of the additional products that the economyproduces from its investment
projects. It has been an instrumental aspect in the growth of Cincinnati. Cincinnati is
comprised of a diverse and thriving business ecosystem. Economic developmenthas
been essential in ensuring that Cincinnati has a prosperous economic future. It has
urbanized at a much more rapid pace than most other states. The Uptown area of
Cincinnati is one of the most vibrant areas of the city, including the neighborhoods of
Mt. Auburn, Avondale, Fairview, Clifton, Corryville and Clifton Heights. Sectors,
such as health care, have experienced steady growth trends to an extent that they have
become consistent contributors to the economic growth of Cincinnati community.
With one of the lowest costs of doing business in the U.S., Cincinnati has become a
global business center with more than 450 foreign based companies. Economic
benefits have resulted from investment in infrastructure that has generated a
sustainable flow of services valued by Cincinnati users.
Analysis of Economic Development in Cincinnati
Cincinnati has been one of the fastest growing regions in the U.S. for all the metro
economies.

Los Banos Unified School District
The Los Banos Unified School District enrolls about 11000 students in Kindergarten
through the 12th grade. The School District supports nine elementary schools, two
junior highs, two high schools and one alternative high school. The School District is
led by seven members of the Board or education. The School district employs five
hundred and seventy five certificated employees and four hundred and twenty five
classified employees. The schools are all currently full, with many residential
divisions currently being built in Los Banos. More schools will need to be built and
many new jobs will be created, bolstering the population and local economy. I

He was once a teacher at the high school and resigned quickly when allegations of
sexual misconduct were made. He eventually ran and won for mayor. About 20
years ago, a police officer stopped him and found drugs in his car. He was arrested
but blamed it on himself giving juveniles rides and that they left it in the car. The
case was dismissed and he return to work as mayor. Eventually he was voted out of

school board, he got into trouble with the contractor and bribery charges. He
refused to step down from his position even after the arrest, claiming innocence. He
eventually was voted out of his position. Interestingly, research suggests that power

liberates people to focus inward and thus come to place greater weight on their goals

Coincidentally, they hired the first African American male to be there superintendent.

Lord Of The Flies Mask Analysis
Life is a costume party in which some are tricked and others are treated. Imagine a
world where one s true self was hidden behind a series of masks, each mask hiding
an individual s specific character flaw, personality trait or even a desire to do harm.
Against the backdrop of World War II, uniformed soldiers presented themselves to
an enemy as a single mass of camouflaged danger. Each similarly dressed and trained
to killor capture an enemy without feeling any remorse. William Golding s own
involvement during World War II allowed him to experience wearing his own mask
while tremendous violence was occurring as he was aboard a Royal Navy boat in
1940. Further, his involvement in the battle of Normandy(France) and the epic
struggle on its beaches is reflected in his writing in the lives of young boys who
similarly try to maintain order on their own island. Therefore in the same way that
a soldier s uniform provides anonymity, the characters in William Golding s Novel
The Lord of the Flies wore masks to conceal their true identity, shown when Jack
who is civilized put on a mask to become a savage, and when Roger took off his
civilist mask to reveal his inherently present inner savage.
Golding exemplified how decorous Jack was without his face painted and hidden in
the ending of chapter one. This was the first time the boys went out and had to
figure out how to hunt in order to survive by themselves. Jack along with Ralph and
Simon came across a piglet snarled in the

Mount Scopus, Har Hatsofim in Hebrew, translated as Mount of the Watchmen, is a
natural elevation of 2700 feet over the sea level. It is located in northeast Jerusalem,
overlooking the Temple Mount, the new City and the Judean desert. On the clear
day a visitor can see as far as Dead sea.
Mount Scopus is mentioned by ancient historian Josephus Flavious in his famous
work The Jewish War. It describes the arrival of Roman general Titus to the gates
ofJerusalem.
The first time Roman general Titus saw Jerusalem was from the Mount Scopus. He
marched there from Caesarea with two of his legions and immediately began setting
up a camp. Mount Scopus offered a panoramic view of Jerusalem and provided Titus

In 636CE, the conquiring Arab armies besiged Jerusalem but were not in the position
to penetrate the city walls. After six months Bysantine Patriarch Sophronius agreed to
surrender the city and pay tax of submission but only if the safety of Jerusalemites
was personally guaranteed by Caliph Omar, Commander of the Believers.
Omar traveled all the way from Mecca to Jerusalem to meet the Patriarch. The first
time Omar laid his eyes on the Holy City was from the Mount of Scopus. The legend
has it that he prayed, changed his clothes and rode the white camel into the city to
meet the Sophronius.
During his short stay in Jerusalem, Omar ordered to clean up the Temple Mount as it
was used as a garbage dump by Bysantine authorities. He also permitted the Jews to
worship there.
In 1902 a weathy English laywer, sir John Gray Hill and his wive began building

ABSTRACT
This project deals with the calculation of the energy meter billing with prepaid
facility by using Smartcard based on the load consumption with GSM
communication . The microcontroller calculates the rupees that will be consumed
by the loads as per the amount inserted in prepaid recharge card ,which acts as
input and displays it on the 16X2 LCD interfaced with the microcontroller. This
project thesis is also covers the recharge option on every insert of card in smart
module and the power is continued to process. This project is powered by an on

How Did The Civil War Affect Women
During the Civil War many people were affected by it. Not only did it affect
soldier and saves (African Americans) but women and children as well. It caused
many major negative and very little positive impacts. For some people the war
gave them the courage to make something better for themselves. Good or bad, it
changed not only the way we think, but act as well, The Civil war was not only
remembered as the war against ourselves, the North versus the South. While the
Civil war was going on, women decided not to stand around and not do anything,
they took action into their own hands. Some stood up and fought right alongside the
men in the war. While the men did not know it, women secretly disguised
themselves as men and altered their names to be in the army. Some women acted as
spies against their side to feed their own side information about battle plans and
strategies for the war. For the women that didn t fight in the war, they took up jobs
that the men regularly had to earn... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only a small part was truly about slavery. On January 1st, 1863, Abraham Lincoln

Surprised the South by allowing African Americans to be a soldier in the army and
fight. This created the 54th Regiment, an entire battalion (group or soldiers) of
African Americans. The south, then decided to force slaves to be serve in the
Confederate army. The south not only gave African Americans bad battle training,
but terrible and poor equipment as well. African Americans were in fact not the
only people to be affected by the Civil war. Many groups were affected and for
them it was an opportunity to do something great. Since then we have been careful in

The Worldly Struggles Of The Sun Shines Essay
The Worldly Struggles The sun shines in the window of a modest house located in
Indiana and pierces the eyes of a young couple. Groaning, the tired man struggles
to his feet and stumbles out the room. As he is walking, he suddenly feels sharp,
intense pain coming from his left shoulder, like someone snuck up behind him and
stabbed his shoulder. Concerned, he rushes to the bathroom mirror to examine his
left shoulder. As he takes off his shirt, he notices that half of his arm is black and
blue. When he looks closer, he sees a tiny and badly infected claw scratch that his
cat, Garfield, gave him three weeks ago. How did this happen? he thought to himself
as he sprints out the door, gasping for air. He enters his car and flies down the road to
the hospital. After months of multiple tests with the doctor, he found out that he has
leukemia and blood cancer at the age of thirty six. Similar infections from injuries,
like in this situation, were quite common in Japan. Since the Atomic bombings of
Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Korean and Japanese people have been struggling to
recover, both mentally and physically. In this paper, I will discuss the issue with
nuclear weapons by explaining the events in history leading to the Atomic bombings,
the victims struggle to recover from the bombings, and the action people are taking
from the bombings in today s society. The tension between the United State and Japan
have? been around since the early 1900s. Though the United States and

What Are The Distinguishing Factors Of New Imperialism
1. The distinguishing factors of new imperialism from the earlier forms of European
expansion was that now the Europeans would penetrate the lands that they wanted to
conquer rather than just setting up a trading post on the coast like they previously
would have done. Unlike old imperialism, they Europeans would use their colonies
for political gains by setting up governments and protectorates in the areas that they
imperialized. Rather than just taking advantage of the trading post, they would
exploit the colonies and their people, unlike previously done before. They no longer
cared about cooperating with the previously existing governments in the land that
they would imperialize because they planned to set up their own governments there.
Europeans nations were now looking to expand their empires by acquiring these
territories, unlike before, distinguishing new imperialism from earlier forms of
expansion.
2. The Europeans found ways to open up trade with China and Japan in spite of
opposition in each country by forcing them with war or with the threat of war. In
China, Britain was selling opium to pull out silver from the ... Show more content on

The factors that prompted the Berlin Conference were King Leopold II of Belgium s
actions in central Africa of signing unfair treaties with African chiefs and planting
the Belgium flag. He did this for his own personal gain, not even for his gain of his
country, and that frightened the French causing them to have to sign a treaty with
the chief of the Teke tribe to establish a protectorate. This threatened the balance of
powers and kicked off the African fever, so to prevent further complications and to
set basic rules, the Berlin Conference was called. The results were that no imperial
power was allowed to claim a territory in Africa unless it was really in control of the
territory and that the slave trade in Africa was stopped. A country had to exert
complete control over the land and its government before claiming it as their
Differences Between Eukaryotes And Eukaryotes
All living things are made up of cells. Cells are the basic building blocks for all
units of life and can be characterised into two distinct types: Eukaryotes and
prokaryotes. Prokaryotes are the oldest and most primitive forms of life and can be
distinguished from eukaryotes as they lack a distinct nucleus. Prokaryotes can be
further classified into two domains: bacteriaand archaea. Together, bacteria, archaea
and eukaryotes make up what is known as The three domains of life which divides
all cellular life on Earth. Even though bacteria and archaea are both classified as
prokaryotes, there has been recent evidence claiming that archaea and eukaryotes are
more closely related to one another than either is to bacteria. This essay will examine
and investigate the differences between eukaryotes, bacteria and archaea and contend
that archaea share greater similarities with eukaryotes than bacteria which implies a
stronger evolutionary relationship. Eukaryotes are multicellular cells which are
distinctly larger to prokaryotes, have a true defined nucleus, linear pieces of DNAand
divide by mitosis or meiosis (in sex cells). Eukaryotes also contain specialised parts
with specific functions called organelles . Various distinctive organelles can be found
inside different types of plant and animal cells and each has its own particular role,
such as producing energy or manufacturing proteins. It has been theorised that the
mitochondria, plastid and chloroplast were once

Dewey s Rational Problem Solving Process
When it comes to conflict in the workplace, it is not a question of if it will occur,
but rather a question of when. There is also a question of how well managers will
deal with this conflict and if it will become constructive or destructive (Hynes, 2010,
p. 237). John Dewey recommends using a 6 stage process that reasonable individuals
can use to solve a problem (Hynes, 2010, p. 311). Dewey recommends first defining a
problem, analyzing a problem and then brainstorming possible answers to the
problem (Hynes, 2010, p. 311). He then recommends identifying the parameters of
what must occur to eliminate a problem, choosing the best solution from identified
options and then implementing the chosen solution (Hynes, 2010, p. 311).
Dewey s Rational Problem Solving Process The conflict described in Case 10 1 is a
classic case of a non managerial employee being pulled in multiple directions by
managerial employees. Rankin, a non managerial employee in the Credit
department, often helps Sims, the manager of Accounting (Hynes, 2010, p. 238).
However, sales have been increasing so Rankin has not been able to help Sims as
often as she previously had been because she has also needed to assist the Sales
department (Hynes, 2010, p. 238). As a result, Sims approached Martinez, the
manager of Sales, and told him that she needed Rankin s assistance more than he
needed her help in assisting the Sales department (Hynes, 2010, p. 238). Basically, a
conflict over a resource ensued

The Descriptive and Symbolic Conceptions in Social Studies
1)Symbolic forms are of vital importance in the social studies not only as an object
and/or occurrence, whether naturally occurring or not, but it is also of significance
in the socio contextual situation in which it is received. These symbolic forms can
appear as actions and expressions, conversations, a variety of artifacts artifact being
defined as an object made by a human being, typically holds cultural or historical
significance and texts. (Thompson, 1990, pg. 122) (http:/
/www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/artefact) Everyone makes use of
these symbolic forms on a daily basis to express themselves and their emotions in
any variety of ways, while conforming to commonly accepted means of expression
within that individuals society. By interpreting the reaction they evoke, they develop
an understanding of the connotations associated with the symbols. Once they have
learned the social context of the symbols they further their knowledge of each social
background and its construct. For example the symbol of a crucifix and of a red rose
are both simple items, with individual associations under different contextual
situations which determine what relevance that item holds. The crucifix is an artifact
holding religious significance, whereas a red rose is a naturally occurring object
which has been assigned its association with love within specific societies. The
associations attached to symbols is entirely dependent on its socio cultural context in
which it is
Against School Vouchers
School vouchers are a waste of public dollars in private school because as economist
Milton Friedman said , it divides support for all student. In this essay, it will be
explaining three things of why school vouchers shouldn t continue to go on in private
schools. Those three things are one that vouchers pull money meant for public
schools to tuition run schoolinstead of improving school that need it. Second, it s
the parents responsibility to pay for their child to stay in school. Third, it takes
away from the schools budget to do things for the school as to pay for lunch, trips,
and more. My position in this essay is going against school vouchers. Vouchers house

So that s why I think school vouchers shouldn t be running in any private school
anymore. Because sooner or later the private schools won t be able to support
every student they have in their school because of how much money they re
paying to keep the students on that school. And it s like the parents aren t even
supporting their child at the school that they signed their child up for. That doesn t
make any sense because that s like you sign your child up for something that cost a
lot of money and the company that supports that program has to pay for your child
to stay in that program. But the parents don t do anything. And who knows when
there will be a time when something important breaks, or something to be payed for,
but the school s budget is low because of the payments they made for all of the
students. This also leads to how many kids are in a school because it s not there s
going to be at least 80 kids in one school. Because there s going to be a lot more
than that. And guess what, the school has to pay for them to stay in school. Why
should schools have to pay for your child when that s the parent s responsibility. If
the parents can t afford it, then they need to send them to a public school so they don
t have to pay a

Pokemon And Pop Culture
For years, Pokemon have been a large part of pop culture with highly acclaimed
games, popular television shows, extensive merchandise, and many movies, so it is
safe to assume nearly everyone interested in pop culture knows what a Pokemon is.
However, some people may have no clue what one is, so ,simply put, a Pokemon is a
colorful monster that in the handheld video gameseries can be raised by the player to
fight other Pokemon that are either wild or raised by characters in the game. To
progress through any of the games, Pokemon must be caught, and catching one is a
simple and easy process, the player must encounter a wild Pokemon, the player then
needs to weaken the Pokemon, and lastly the player must throw a Pokeball at the

Compare And Contrast Art And Renaissance Art
When one ponders the significance of the artwork that was produced during the
Renaissance, Baroque and
Rococo stylistic periods, advancement in scientific understanding during these
periods may seem to be nothing more than an afterthought. For centuries, the quest
for scientific knowledge and understanding by the artisan community had been
smothered by the Christian church who fulfilled the role of main patron of art during
the Middle Ages. However, the
15th to 18th century experienced a turning point, not just creatively, but also in
relation to artisans inculcating an every increasing scientific knowledge base into
their creative works (The Art Institute of Chicago, 2003). The Renaissance in

The intent of this short essay is to illustrate how one work of art from each of the
following stylistic periods demonstrated the deepening relationship between art and
scientific knowledge:
Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo. During the Renaissance, one of the most
influential artists, Leonardo Da Vinci, embodied the spirit of the
Renaissance due to his multifaceted expertise in numerous fields outside of art.
Leonardo Da Vinci had a passion for scientific exploration, specifically relating to the
anatomy and physiology (A P) of the human body (The Art Institute of
Chicago, 2003). Da Vinci was passionate about learning as much as he possibly
could about A P so that he can accurately and precisely portray the human body in his
artwork (The Art Institute of Chicago, 2003). Numerous sketches have been found in
the pages of Leonardo s journals with vividly detailed sketches of the skeletal system,
muscular system, and organ systems of the human body. One work in particular
entitled sketch of Uterus and Foetus brilliantly illustrates how Leonardo melded
science and art. On first glance, the eye is immediately drawn to the detailed
Summary Of How To Tell A True War Story By Tim O Brien
Tim O brien, an American novelist, has a complex, but creative meaning in his story
How To Tell a True War Story . My interpretation of the story is that the person
telling a story has the power to create the connection between the reader s opinion,
emotion, and the story being told. Throughout the text O brien proves this by making
statements to support his claim, but then contradicts himself afterwards. In this story
O brien uses a war story because of the conflicting information giving from the story
and what actually had happened. To make a connection between the reader s opinion
and the story Tim O brien uses examples of what he is trying to interpret within the
story. Starting off the story he states This is true (O brien 67), later... Show more

A true war story, if truly told, makes the stomach believe (O brien 78), is the point
where I believed the story s meaning lies in the actual story. The reason is, O brien
talks about a feeling that is created after hearing the story. This feeling is an
indicator that the story and emotions had a link that went hand to hand with one
another. It supports the idea that how a story is told can influence a person s
opinion and or emotion regarding the story. In the end the meaning does lie within
your head, but is created based off of what is said in the
Descriptive Essay On Flight 305
Passport please, The man asked, I handed the old wrinkly man my passport.
Your flight 305, it departs in 30 minutes, the old man informed me. I shuffled away
to the waiting area and sat in one of the rough, dry seats. The lack of entertainment
killed me I shut my eyes and listen to the bustling footsteps, and conversations all
around. The smell of late breakfast and old suitcases. All the smells were alien yet
strangely calming. Now boarding flight 305, A womanannounced over the speakers.
I slowly slumped up from my chair checking my phone, Wednesday, April 19. I made
my way to the entrance of the plane where they checked my tickets and let me
through. Soon I found my seat next to a man who looked around 25, he was a
slightly taller man. We talked for a bit and I introduced myself and he introduced
himself, his name was Ethan. I soon got bored of the view from the window. The
warm stuffy air in the plane filled my lungs as I drifted to sleep. I woke up with a
bang, people looked confused and some concerned. The pilots announced they were
having small technical difficulties. Another loud bang came from somewhere on the
left side of the plane. People started asking questions and looking around. The flight
attendants told everyone to remain calm and assured them it was ok. A slight
whistling noise hummed throughout the plane. All the sudden the air rushed out of
the plane, loud sounds of the plane ripping in half were followed by nothing but
blackness.

The Pros And Cons Of Workplace Stress
Nurses face many different stressors in their day to day work life. These stressors
stem from the type of work nurses do (Raftopoulos, Charalambous and Talias, 2012).
Stressors may also be caused by the nurse s social interactions (Rodwell and Demir,
2012), for example strained relationships with colleagues, poor leadership within the
team and underappreciation. The stresscan even be caused by political issues such as
job security (Boya, Demiral, Ergor, Akvardar, De Witte, 2008) and inadequate
staffing leading to an excessive work load (Lisa Y. Adams, 2014). If the nurse is
unable to deal with this stress appropriately it can have negative impacts on his or her
physical and mental health (Marin et al.,2011). An integral aspect of coping within a
stressful environment is having the ability to bounce back and work through issues
despite unfavourable circumstances, this is known as resilience (Courtney. J, 2015).
Nurses can implement strategies to build self resilience, examples of this could be;
ensuring they have adequate social supports (Cross, 2015) and practising mindfulness
(Ludwig Kabat Zinn, 2008).
Nurses are at a higher risk of facing workplace stressors than those who have other
occupations because of the nature of their work (Foureur et al., 2013). Nursing staff
are on the front line of patient care, this allows them to build relationships with
patients and their families (Foureur et al., 2013). Nurses work in close proximity with
patients and therefore build
How To Write A Photo Analysis Essay
The weak fall, but the strong will remain and never go under, stated by Anne Frank.
I settle on this quote because it is significant to the photo that I have chosen. The
photo that I found was searched on Google. When I initially found the photo on
Google, it was an image that was originally from Pinterest. As I looked more into the
photo it was also shown on many other websites of displayed images but had no
information about it. A majority of people ponder about photographs when examined
and have their own perspectives about them. In the photo that I have chosen, it could
imply to the readers that it suggests the simple act of kindness given to individuals
who need happiness.
The photo depicts a young girl and a young boy standing on a wooden dock near the
ocean as the sun is beginning to set along the side of them. There are a group of

This photo looks as if the young girl is offering the young boy help by giving him a
balloon and the benefit from the help given is receiving happiness. Although, the
photo illustrates more than just the simple fact of giving and receiving. The photo
shows the opportunity to help the ones in desperate need. This photo works as a
powerful representation of individuals in need. The young girl has all the
opportunities in life to do what she wants and still gives her time to help the young
boy. That is shown by the illustration of the young girl offering the young boy a
balloon. Everyone needs a helping hand at a certain time in their life. Most
importantly not everyone knows what people go through but the best option is to
offer support whether or not they will accept it. In addition, the worse act that can be
given is to ignore someone, and that certain someone can only learn from the action
of rejection. This thought is invoked because in the photo it is shown that the young
boy does not accept the balloon that is given to him by the young

Lorna was a very accomplished woman but her biggest accomplishments was in

received the Southern Pacific Coast Region of Hadassah Humanitarian Award.
Lorna was a women who took matters into her own hands and showed the people in
Arizona that woman can do anything they set their mind too. Lorna is a woman with
lots of courage and respect here in Arizona. Another man who was artistically
influential that was in Arizona was a star named Alice Cooper. Alice moved to
Arizona from Detroit in the 1960 s. He went to Cortez High School, and he now
currently lives in Paradise Valley. Alice Cooper was a hard core Rock and Roll artist.
Over the course of Cooper s career he has sold more than 50 million records. One
of Alice s most well known song is School s out and I m Eighteen . His music did
not skyrocket until the late 60 s early 70 s. He was famous because his music was
indifferent from all of the other stars that compete alongside him. There were
many Rock and Roll stars that had concerts and shows just as Alice did, but he did
it a little more different. Alice s performance in his concerts were scary and loud.
He wanted to be an artist that sang Rock n Roll, but he wanted to put a more gore
spin on his style. He wanted to have gore and scare into his concerts. His music was a
blend of metallic style and pop blends. Many people went to see him because he was
different and gorey. He always wanted to
The Role Of Technology In American Culture
Technology plays a prominent role in today s society. In fact, an apparent
characteristic of American culture appears to be its reliance on technology, which
is supported by the frequency of which average Americans use electronic devices.
Smart phones, for example, are commonly used for a variety of purposes, such as:
functioning as an alarm clock, to check emails, to send messages and make phone
calls, to observe traffic in their area, to view weather, even to do tasks at work.
Several people argue that this reliance on technologyshould be viewed negatively due
to its impacts on society. It is often believed that, while preoccupied with their
devices, people neglect social interaction or are taught to be indolent. However,

In the mid 1400 s, people collected novels and spent hours reading in their libraries
(Unwin). The same effect occurred with the printing of the newspaper in the late
1600 s (Breig), and again with the development of stationary and portable gaming
systems in the mid 1900 s (Kudler). Causes of social issues change with each
generation. Therefore, it is imperative to understand that future generations will be
brought up in a different world than the last had. With each new generation, there
will be new technology, different issues, and dissimilar methods of upbringing,
however none of this is should be viewed negatively; this change throughout time
indicates progression of society towards sophistication and worldliness. Although it
may appear as though the youngest generation is excessively reliant on technology,
they and future generations will learn to use technology in moderation as past
generations have. Moreover, it is ironic to blame technology for the lack of social
interaction in this day and age when social media is such a popular concept;
particularly, when social media is in the form of an app and can be accessed at any
moment from a smart phone. Countless individuals are able to communicate with
friends with whom they haven t spoken to in five or more
The Natural, Because My Passion Is Sports
I chose the book, The Natural, because my passion is sports. I also heard that The
Natural was a blockbuster in the cinemas so I decided this had to be my choice.
This book did not completely match my expectations. Before I started reading I
expected that The Natural would tell the story of a baseball legend s career and
achievements. The story was almost the exact opposite. Roy Hobbs, a young,
talented, and ambitious baseballplayer goes to Chicago to try out for the Cubs. He
meets a girl, Harriet, on the train to Chicago whom he immediately falls in love
with. Things quickly go wrong as she shoots him when he visits her hotel room in
Chicago. This not only seriously injures him, but also keeps him from playing
professional baseball for 15 years, putting him past his athletic prime. After Roy
enters professional baseball in his thirties, he has a few short years in the league
and eventually cracks up and beats up his coach and manager. He would end up
jobless and never be able to play baseball again. Nothing goes right for Roy and the
baseball gods looks to be against him. The Naturalisn t a story of an athlete s glorious
career as I expected, but a talented player s career and life going to waste. The story
also shows the dark side of sports such as cheating and match fixing. I am undecided
about recommending this book. This story s plot is depressing but reflects the sad
reality of many sports stars past their prime. I would not recommend this book to

Jill Greenberg End Times Summary
Photography, just like many other art forms, is commonly used as a tool for self
expression, social commentary and political activism. Jill Greenberg is no
stranger to using photography in such a way, and eventually became quite
controversial for some of her works. While a quick glance at Greenberg s website
shows how diverse her work is, she got a lot of attention for End Times, her series
of photos publicized in 2006 that showed crying toddlers, including her own two
children. This series was inspired by her unhappiness with the then current Bush
administration. While it s very commonplace for people to disagree with each other
for political reasons, a lot of the criticism Greenberg got for End Times was due to
uncertainty about why the children were crying, and speculation that the children
may have been abused. While child abuse is obviously unethical, Greenberg has
explained the process and emphasized that these children were not being abused or in
any sort of pain, so it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In her words, the controversy came a few weeks later, when a pseudonymous
photo blogger a banker by day discovered the work online and wrote that I should

claims often come from emotional origins, and the blogger was likely very
concerned about the wellbeing of the children in Greenberg s photos, there doesn t
seem to be any evidence of child abuse and the accusation seems entirely
unsubstantiated. On the phone with Paper Mag, Greenberg said It was really hurtful

critics felt the emotion in the image but were unable to tie the emotion to her political

Persuasive Essay On Banning Campus Violence
Banning Campus Violence The results of the illegal actions performed by the campus
members lead to the increasing number of victims of the violence at campus. The
paper investigates the necessity to elaborate the necessary measures and methods to
stimulate the process of reducing and further banning of the violence on campus. The
essence of this approach is on the reasons, which should motivate the education
institutions management to reduce the number of cases of violence on campus.
Therefore, the essential measure to ban the campus violence is the establishment of
the legal framework and controlling procedure over the students members of the
campusesas the cases of the violent actions have recently become frequent enough
and lead to the negative consequences for the students health and life. However, not
all the scholars have a conviction that there is a need to fight for the ban of violence
on campuses. The audience of this paper can be diverse: from the students to the
employees of the educational institutions. The paper s structure applies the appeals
of ethos, pathos, and logos to make the reader s perception of the problem more
serious and profound. The paper comprises the statistics of the violent actions on
campus which serve as a consequence of alcohol and drug abuse by the students as
well as the results of the lack of the gun control. Hence, the research given represents
a set of reasons, arguments, and counterarguments in terms of the campus violence
banning
Pros And Cons Of Marching Band
Marching band is a very hard activity. It s fun but takes a lot of hard work,
concentration and devotion. You have to have talent and the ability to follow
directions when asked the first time. You have to follow instructions as if you
were in the military. They also follow directions like a military unit. For example
the conductor says stand straight and your shoe is untied. You cannot tie your shoe
until told to do so. You have to wake up early in the morning to perfect the routines.
You have to avoid greasy foods, wear sunscreen, and adjust to the heat, if you don t
you may get sick and/or burnt. Caitlin, another band member, quickly learned to
follow band director Mrs. Brooks s tips for adjusting to the heat. She also knows to

Interview With with a Grunt Sergeant
I sat down with a former Grunt Sergeant, Jake Stone, on a calm, sunny, Saturday
November morning, to ask about his experience in the Marine Corps. Mr. Stone is
a rather frail looking man in a wheelchair that you can tell used to be a powerful
man despite his age which is approaching late seventies. I learned a lot from him.
For example, Mr. Stone was a training officer during the Vietnam War. He was
stationed in California teaching hand to hand combat, bayonets, pistols, rifles, hand
grenades, flamethrowers, just a wide assortment of deadly weapons. He led ninety
men in a strike team that was prepared to be deployed at any time. They were to be

sitting on the base talking with a good friend of his when suddenly there was a
large impact next to him that made him jump. A boom from a crane had fallen and
crushed his friend s skull. He describes it as an inch and a half thick . When asked
about the best aspect of his military career he responds with, Self confidence,
learning to be a good adult ad stay out of trouble... preparedness But his amazing
war experiences didn t end in the military, he was also a postal worker for the
USPS for forty four years, longer than anyone in Michigan. I guess the military
also trains in dedication. Mr. Stone says part of the job was looking for trouble to
prevent and boy did he ever find it. On a day like any other, he walked into a bank,
everything seemed normal and he wasn t really paying attention at first. He noticed
everyone had their hands in the air above their heads. He also say someone backing
toward him facing the tellers with a sack over his back. Seconds later he noticed the
gun. The thought process was instantaneous. He decided to intervene and he did. His
training took over instantly. He knocked the gun out of the guy s hand and attempted
to pin him. After a struggle for

There are environmental factors impact the spread of infectious diseases, and the
main aspects are water supply, hygiene services, food, and climate. An absence of
safe water, a lack of sanitation facilities, loss of living situations, and insecure food
would cause suffering or possible death. Instances of epidemics are Obesity, HIV,
Cholera, and Malaria (Peterson, 2002). Malaria is caused by parasites, which are
organisms live on or in a host, and get food from the same host, and the main
affection come along by mosquitoes. Additionally, not all type of mosquitoes can
cause that transfer of bugs to people of bite them. Only one type of female
mosquitoes called Anopheles mosquitoes, which transmit parasite called
Plasmodium from infected people due to blood needed to grow their eggs (WHO,

Moreover, when a mosquito goes for the next bite, the parasite injected into another
human blood as a second host. The growth of the parasite multiply quickly at the
infected human liver, and then moved back to the red blood cells. In a short period,
approximate one or two weeks some of the malaria symptoms are starting to illustrate
like vomiting, headache, and fever. At that situation, patients should be treated
rapidly with actual medicines, or that massive spread of the parasites can destroy the
red blood cells, which cause blocking the

Analysis Of Barclays Ceo Bob Diamond
Introduction In June 2012, Barclays CEO Bob Diamond went before the Treasury
Select Committee in the U.K. House of Commons admitting that his company
manipulated the LIBOR (the London Inter Bank Offered Rate). LIBOR has been
used since 1969 as a reference rate in the operations of international financial
markets and become the basis for trillions of dollars of financial transactions. This
case study gives background and overview on the events that lead to and who were
all involved with what happened. Ethical challenges are ever present here with one
institution dealing with corruption and perceived cheating with all parties involved.

All this information, along with the set LIBOR rate is published daily. Once this
rate is set various transactions begin to take place all around the globe. Its
importance lies in being an indicator of world financial health especially dealing
with derivatives which are methods of pricing complex financial transactions. Far
Reaching Effects Each country and government has a stake in the LIBOR rate.
Between 2005 and 2008, staffs at Barclays acted inappropriately by manipulating
the process for the submission of rates. The manipulation allowed for the company
to generate millions in profit and/or reducing costs. This false representation had
far reaching effects particularly in America and the sub prime mortgage rate.
Many cities and municipals in the US had LIBOR based rate loans and bonds.
With the manipulations of derivatives by Barclays, one of the lead banking
institutions, that gave false rates for global transactions, it called into question the
reputation of the city of London being a world financial center. Public outcry due
to greed called into question the methods and process of banks as it pertained to
LIBOR rate. Barclays, specifically, involved a rogue group of derivative traders
along with other bankers influencing the final rate for greater profits and/or
reduction in loses. This showed evidence of collusion among traders as if this
practice was widespread if not encouraged or at least tolerated. Illegal or morally
The Woman Warrior by Maxine Hong Kingston Essay
In the novel The Woman Warrior Maxine Hong Kingston uses ghosts to represent a
battle between American and Chinese cultures. The two cultures have different
views of what a ghost is. The Chinese believe the ghost spirits may be of people
dead or alive. Chinese culture recognizes foreigners and unfamiliar people as ghosts
because, like American ghosts, they are mysterious creatures of the unknown.
Americans view ghosts as spirits of the dead that either help or haunt people.

Sufism Research Paper
Sufism Sufism, or tasawwuf as it s called in Arabic, can be describe as a Islamic
belief and practice in which followers try to have direct and personal experiences
with Allah. It is not fully known where Sufism originated from, but there is two
ways people perceive the religion began. The traditional view states that it began in
the beginnings of the first centuries following the life of the Prophet Mohammad.
However, the other view claims that Sufism existed from the very start of human
creation. Which in turn makes any human founder of Sufism impossible. In Sufism,
the love of God for man and the love of man for God is very important. The root

Dhawq is a tasting in which Sufis try to get direct knowledge of invisible realities or
God. The knowledge gained from the experience is invalid, however, if it contradicts
the Qur an. The Qur an is the Islamic sacred book, and is believed to be the word of
God as dictated to Muhammad. All Sufis tend to stress the importance making
personal experiences with god. Sufis distinguish themselves among other Muslims by
their insistence that experiences with Allah can be achieved in the mortal life. This
belief, and many others, made some Sufis sometimes receive great persecution from
other Muslim groups. Sufism has died out little thorough out the years. Even with
Sufism history and significant impact on Muslim culture, Sufis only represent one
percent of the Muslim community. Most Sufis today can be found in Sub Saharan
of Africa according to the data from the PEW Research Center. Out of the 11 of 15
countries PEW Research Center surveyed in the region, more than a quarter of
Muslims say they belong to a Sufi order . Even though Sufism is pretty small in
Muslim community, it is still a popular religious expression in some Southern parts of

The Practice Of The Eucharist
Part A
1.The practice of the Eucharist in the Catholic Church is usually called the Liturgy
of the Eucharist, Holy Communion or the Lords supper. The Eucharist usually
occurs near the end of the mass, firstly it begins with the preparation of the gifts
and the altar, and once this has been done volunteers of the community bring
forward the bread and the wine to the Priest at the Altar. Then the priest blesses the
bread and wine. After that the priest breaks the bread and says Take this all of you
and eat it this is my body which will be given up for you he holds up the chalice of
wine and says Take this all of you and drink from it for this is my blood which has
been given up for you . The Priest then places the gifts on the altar in sacrifice, and
volunteers then come up to the altar and takes the gifts to share with the community.
Initially the Eucharist is ended with the Prayer after Communion which is asked for
us to remember the Eucharist throughout our day.
2.The nature and meaning of the Eucharist is quite significant in the Catholic Church.
The Eucharist for Catholics was an inspiration from the bible mainly from the
passage of the Last Supper Jesus shared with his disciples.. For Catholics they
usually receive Eucharist during Mass, for Catholics the Eucharist is a symbol of
Jesus body and blood (bread and wine). For Catholics the Eucharist is a main
sacrament which is based around Catholics daily lives, the Eucharist is a reminder of
Jesus and a
An Overview and Commentary on Course Objectives Essay
Note to the reader: This essay is somewhat of an experiment. I am well aware of
the standard guidelines within which a student must present and argue ideas, and
the implications of nonconformity. However, if I have learned anything in this
course, it is that genres and forms are continually under scrutiny, being molded and
changed, discarded and exchanged, for sake of efficacy, veracity, adherence to
ideology, or in reaction to otherwise unforeseen forces. Consider this as just such a
reaction; more accurately, it is my only recourse. In setting out to write this essay, I
had a clear objective. My task was to critically engage materials that were covered
this term, and where possible reflect, compare, contrast, and analyze those theories...

In a contemporary sense, there is an involvement between the reader and the text.
This denies the Formalist stance that the text is the sole source of meaning.
Proponents of this theory fall onto a spectrum, where at one pole the interpretive
strategy of the reader entirely determines the text (Stanley Fish), at the other pole
is what falls into the realm of Formalism (text dominant), and in between is a bi
active stance, where the reader is both active and passive during the reading
process (Wolfgang Iser). Iser talks of an actual reader and an implied reader. The
actual reader is one who brings to the text all their knowledge and experience, what
Barthes would term their dГ©jГ lu. The implied reader is one which text itself
attempts to shape or condition. For Iser, the reading process is one which is
gradually unfolding. The reader assimilates various facets of the text, and through
this process dictates (in part) the essence of the text. However, unlike some of Fish
s earlier works where the reader is effectively in creative control, Iser states the text
imposes some constraints upon the reader. The reader cannot make the text mean
what they like, as the text provides a skeleton of meanings, norms, and values that
shape and control the reader s response. Thus, the convergence of text and reader
brings the literary work into existence (Iser 189). He goes on further to state that the
text provokes certain expectations which in
The Marriage Ceremony Of India Essay
Just imagine the person you will spend the rest of your life with waiting for you at
the altar. Once you wed, life together begins. The phrase, Welcome to the rest of
your life , is often heard when a couple becomes engaged. Marriage is defined as the
union between two individuals that make a permanent and exclusive commitment to
each other (Kavya, CN and Pavan Kumar 531). Essentially, when to people get
married their hearts and mind unify as well. Historically, marriagewas a union with no
ceremony. The Bible mentions several couples being married but does not mention
any ceremony. The actual union is more important than having an enormous
celebration. However, as time went on, many cultures formed traditions that are part
of the marriage ceremony. India is one of the most populated countries in the world
and one of the oldest. Indian marriage celebrates Dharma. Dharma is essential
guidelines in order to live a fulfilling life and afterlife. The Southern Hindu wedding
lay emphasis on three essential values: happiness, harmony, and growth (Knott 10).
Each step of the marriage process outlines each value.
DATING, MATCH MAKING, AND LOVE COURTSHIP In Hinduism marriage is
considered the most sacred commitment. This is a commitment of the souls and
minds, not just physical bodies. Many Hindus enlist the help of someone called a
match maker. The match maker observes and examines all single individuals in the
village. Typically, the family sits down with the match maker and
How Did Andrew Carnegie s Impact On American Society
During the mid nineteenth century, two symbolic icons of industrial growth and
entrepreneurial finesse, Andrew Carnegie who built an enormous steel corporation,
and John D. Rockefeller creator of Standard Oil, both dominated their respective
industries and impacted American society in terms of supplying necessary goods like
steel and petroleum, employment opportunity, philanthropic causes which set
precedents not only for significant strides of government oversight on big business,
but also toward fair labor practices.
Andrew Carnegie, a poor Scottish immigrant at the age of 12 in 1848, wasted little
time engaging his talent for success. Beginning as a bobbin boy in a textile mill, he

Rockefeller set up pools of multiple businesses that fixed prices and production
quotas, and by 1879, had seized 90% of the oil refining capacity. He established the
Standard Oil Trust in 1882 creating an umbrella company which controlled forty oil
companies, and an arrangement of stockholders who held trust certificates. Through
this absorption and cooperative management of rival companies, Rockefeller
controlled the petroleum industry horizontally as well as vertically through control of

Relationship Between Marketing And Customer Value
INTRODUCTION
This paper aims to explain the relationship between marketing and customer value
and their relevance when promoting and ensuring customer satisfaction. It will
discuss marketing as a business philosophy and its importance in organisations. The
concept of customer value will also be examined and its significance to the success of
a product. Throughout the paper, the Apple Watch will be drawn on to further explore
the concepts and to put them into context.
Marketing has been defined in a number of ways. Kotler (1983,p.7) defined
marketing as a human activity directed at satisfying needs and wants through
exchange processes. He felt this encapsulated the fundamentals of marketing and
went on to present the basic concepts of needs, a state of felt deprivation, that are
plentiful and complex, they include basics such as food or clothing, wants which
he described as an expression of human needs, shaped by a person s culture or
individual development (Kotler, 1972, p. 8), demands, wants that are backed by
buyer power, exchanges, the act of obtaining a desired object from someone by
offering something in return. (Kotler, 1972, p. 10), an exchange can also occur
between a person and a television program (Bagozzi, 1975) and transactions, a trade
of values between any two parties. The main aim of Kotler s definition was to
highlight the importance of customer satisfaction, and the significance of needs and
wants.

With the age group consisting of anyone over 21, gambling is a main attraction when
visiting a place like Las Vegas. People tend to spend their money mostly on the slot
machines and multiple poker games taking place in the Casinos around the United
States. These revenues go towards the workers of the Casinos and state taxes which
benefits the other attractions surrounding the casino. The gambling industry has
grown massively in little time, it has grown to make around 40 billion dollars a
year. Generating this money contributes largely to make a better city or state for
visitors or residents to enjoy. These casinos are usually looked down upon but they
offer new horizons for men and women in the United States. The online gambling
push is also coming to a close consideration with legality and within the next ten
years should be completely legal (Bonesteel 1). Online gambling provides a
different dimension of many businesses and also sports clubs. Most of the money
from online sports gambling goes towards these sports clubs allowing them to
expand their club and the league as one. As gambling begins to grow considerably
larger in the United States, it is used as entertainment and recreation. As a whole,
gambling allows any given city to grow economically and as whole, it brings in
plenty amounts of revenue which also contributes to state taxes. Gambling slowly
proves it has benefits towards cities and the local
Baby Face Lab Report
The Baby Face activity was an activity that required a coin toss to determine what
appearance a baby face was going to have. This activity helped us learn about the
genetics, traits and characteristics that go behind the scenes to determine the
appearance of an organism. A characteristic is a feature that has a different form in
a population, like hair color or eye color. A trait however, is the different forms of a
characteristic, like brown hair and blue eyes. In the activity, a coin toss determined
what the baby face appearance would look like in the end, and also in the activity, the
coin toss determined the genotype of the baby which affects the phenotype.
Genotype, is the combination of genes, while a phenotype is the actual physical

In this essay, two documentaries, Bowling for columbine by Michael Moore and Made in Bangladesh by CBC news will be explored to show how persuasive techniques are used to make an audience feel a particular way. Firstly, Bowling for Columbine Moore s addresses the issue of gun violence in America following a school shooting. On the other hand, Made in Bangladesh by CBC news focuses on the issue of sweatshops and maltreatment of workers in Bangladesh after the collapsing of an uncertified sweatshop. These two documentaries effectively and successfully use persuasive techniques to present a confrontational message on social justice. Also, they position the audience to sympathize with the victims and in turn want to do something about the issue. These techniques include the use careful selection of material, the use of cinematography, music and sound effects, sequencing and editing. Although the two documentaries have different content they equally manage to persuade viewers that the content is meaningful. The impact that the documentaries had on me or other audience members was that of sympathy and outrage about the incidents that fell upon innocent people featured in these documentaries. Both documentaries were careful about the material which was used and the that information was included and excluded. One similar trait that both documentaries share

Imagine a world where one s true self was hidden behind a series of masks, each mask hiding an individual s specific character flaw, personality trait or even a desire to do harm. Against the backdrop of World War II, uniformed soldiers presented themselves to an enemy as a single mass of camouflaged danger. Each similarly dressed and trained to killor capture an enemy without feeling any remorse. William Golding s own involvement during World War II allowed him to experience wearing his own mask while tremendous violence was occurring as he was aboard a Royal Navy boat in 1940. Further, his involvement in the battle of Normandy(France) and the epic struggle on its beaches is reflected in his writing in the lives of young boys who similarly try to maintain order on their own island. Therefore in the same way that a soldier s uniform provides anonymity, the characters in William Golding s Novel The Lord of the Flies wore masks to conceal their true identity, shown when Jack who is civilized put on a mask to become a savage, and when Roger took off his civilist mask to reveal his inherently present inner savage. Golding exemplified how decorous Jack was without his face painted and hidden in the ending of chapter one. This was the first time the boys went out and had to figure out how to hunt in order to survive by themselves. Jack along with Ralph and Simon came across a piglet snarled in the

Unlike old imperialism, they Europeans would use their colonies for political gains by setting up governments and protectorates in the areas that they imperialized. Rather than just taking advantage of the trading post, they would exploit the colonies and their people, unlike previously done before. They no longer cared about cooperating with the previously existing governments in the land that they would imperialize because they planned to set up their own governments there. This threatened the balance of powers and kicked off the African fever, so to prevent further complications and to set basic rules, the Berlin Conference was called. Cells are the basic building blocks for all units of life and can be characterised into two distinct types: Eukaryotes and prokaryotes. Prokaryotes are the oldest and most primitive forms of life and can be distinguished from eukaryotes as they lack a distinct nucleus. Prokaryotes can be further classified into two domains: bacteriaand archaea. Together, bacteria, archaea and eukaryotes make up what is known as The three domains of life which divides all cellular life on Earth. Even though bacteria and archaea are both classified as prokaryotes, there has been recent evidence claiming that archaea and eukaryotes are more closely related to one another than either is to bacteria. This essay will examine and investigate the differences between eukaryotes, bacteria and archaea and contend that archaea share greater similarities with eukaryotes than bacteria which implies a stronger evolutionary relationship. Eukaryotes are multicellular cells which are distinctly larger to prokaryotes, have a true defined nucleus, linear pieces of DNAand divide by mitosis or meiosis (in sex cells). Eukaryotes also contain specialised parts with specific functions called organelles . There is also a question of how well managers will deal with this conflict and if it will become constructive or destructive (Hynes, 2010, p. 237). John Dewey recommends using a 6 stage process that reasonable individuals can use to solve a problem (Hynes, 2010, p. 311). Dewey recommends first defining a problem, analyzing a problem and then brainstorming possible answers to the problem (Hynes, 2010, p. 311). He then recommends identifying the parameters of what must occur to eliminate a problem, choosing the best solution from identified options and then implementing the chosen solution (Hynes, 2010, p. 311). The pilots announced they were having small technical difficulties. Another loud bang came from somewhere on the left side of the plane. People started asking questions and looking around. The flight attendants told everyone to remain calm and assured them it was ok. A slight whistling noise hummed throughout the plane. All the sudden the air rushed out of the plane, loud sounds of the plane ripping in half were followed by nothing but blackness. Hey buddy,
  • 25. The Pros And Cons Of Workplace Stress Nurses face many different stressors in their day to day work life. These stressors stem from the type of work nurses do (Raftopoulos, Charalambous and Talias, 2012). Stressors may also be caused by the nurse s social interactions (Rodwell and Demir, 2012), for example strained relationships with colleagues, poor leadership within the team and underappreciation. The stresscan even be caused by political issues such as job security (Boya, Demiral, Ergor, Akvardar, De Witte, 2008) and inadequate staffing leading to an excessive work load (Lisa Y. Adams, 2014). If the nurse is unable to deal with this stress appropriately it can have negative impacts on his or her physical and mental health (Marin et al.,2011). An integral aspect of coping within a stressful environment is having the ability to bounce back and work through issues despite unfavourable circumstances, this is known as resilience (Courtney. J, 2015). Nurses can implement strategies to build self resilience, examples of this could be; ensuring they have adequate social supports (Cross, 2015) and practising mindfulness (Ludwig Kabat Zinn, 2008). Nurses are at a higher risk of facing workplace stressors than those who have other occupations because of the nature of their work (Foureur et al., 2013). Nursing staff are on the front line of patient care, this allows them to build relationships with patients and their families (Foureur et al., 2013). Nurses work in close proximity with patients and therefore build

As I looked more into the photo it was also shown on many other websites of displayed images but had no information about it. A majority of people ponder about photographs when examined and have their own perspectives about them. In the photo that I have chosen, it could imply to the readers that it suggests the simple act of kindness given to individuals who need happiness. This photo looks as if the young girl is offering the young boy help by giving him a balloon and the benefit from the help given is receiving happiness. Although, the photo illustrates more than just the simple fact of giving and receiving. The photo shows the opportunity to help the ones in desperate need. This photo works as a powerful representation of individuals in need. The young girl has all the opportunities in life to do what she wants and still gives her time to help the young boy. That is shown by the illustration of the young girl offering the young boy a balloon. Everyone needs a helping hand at a certain time in their life. Most importantly not everyone knows what people go through but the best option is to offer support whether or not they will accept it. In addition, the worse act that can be given is to ignore someone, and that certain someone can only learn from the action of rejection. This thought is invoked because in the photo it is shown that the young boy does not accept the balloon that is given to him by the young

  • 28. The Role Of Technology In American Culture Technology plays a prominent role in today s society. In fact, an apparent characteristic of American culture appears to be its reliance on technology, which is supported by the frequency of which average Americans use electronic devices. Smart phones, for example, are commonly used for a variety of purposes, such as: functioning as an alarm clock, to check emails, to send messages and make phone calls, to observe traffic in their area, to view weather, even to do tasks at work. Several people argue that this reliance on technologyshould be viewed negatively due to its impacts on society. It is often believed that, while preoccupied with their devices, people neglect social interaction or are taught to be indolent. However, alternative views... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the mid 1400 s, people collected novels and spent hours reading in their libraries (Unwin). The same effect occurred with the printing of the newspaper in the late 1600 s (Breig), and again with the development of stationary and portable gaming systems in the mid 1900 s (Kudler). Causes of social issues change with each generation. Therefore, it is imperative to understand that future generations will be brought up in a different world than the last had. With each new generation, there will be new technology, different issues, and dissimilar methods of upbringing, however none of this is should be viewed negatively; this change throughout time indicates progression of society towards sophistication and worldliness. Although it may appear as though the youngest generation is excessively reliant on technology, they and future generations will learn to use technology in moderation as past generations have. Moreover, it is ironic to blame technology for the lack of social interaction in this day and age when social media is such a popular concept; particularly, when social media is in the form of an app and can be accessed at any moment from a smart phone. Countless individuals are able to communicate with friends with whom they haven t spoken to in five or more

I also heard that The Natural was a blockbuster in the cinemas so I decided this had to be my choice. This book did not completely match my expectations. Before I started reading I expected that The Natural would tell the story of a baseball legend s career and achievements. The story was almost the exact opposite. Roy Hobbs, a young, talented, and ambitious baseballplayer goes to Chicago to try out for the Cubs. He meets a girl, Harriet, on the train to Chicago whom he immediately falls in love with. Things quickly go wrong as she shoots him when he visits her hotel room in Chicago. This not only seriously injures him, but also keeps him from playing professional baseball for 15 years, putting him past his athletic prime. After Roy enters professional baseball in his thirties, he has a few short years in the league and eventually cracks up and beats up his coach and manager. He would end up jobless and never be able to play baseball again. Nothing goes right for Roy and the baseball gods looks to be against him. The Naturalisn t a story of an athlete s glorious career as I expected, but a talented player s career and life going to waste. The story also shows the dark side of sports such as cheating and match fixing. I am undecided about recommending this book. This story s plot is depressing but reflects the sad reality of many sports stars past their prime. I would not recommend this book to anyone who is

Jill Greenberg is no stranger to using photography in such a way, and eventually became quite controversial for some of her works. While a quick glance at Greenberg s website shows how diverse her work is, she got a lot of attention for End Times, her series of photos publicized in 2006 that showed crying toddlers, including her own two children. This series was inspired by her unhappiness with the then current Bush administration. While it s very commonplace for people to disagree with each other for political reasons, a lot of the criticism Greenberg got for End Times was due to uncertainty about why the children were crying, and speculation that the children may have been abused. Iser talks of an actual reader and an implied reader. The actual reader is one who brings to the text all their knowledge and experience, what Barthes would term their dГ©jГ lu. The implied reader is one which text itself attempts to shape or condition. For Iser, the reading process is one which is gradually unfolding. The reader assimilates various facets of the text, and through this process dictates (in part) the essence of the text. However, unlike some of Fish s earlier works where the reader is effectively in creative control, Iser states the text imposes some constraints upon the reader. The reader cannot make the text mean what they like, as the text provides a skeleton of meanings, norms, and values that shape and control the reader s response. Thus, the convergence of text and reader brings the literary work into existence (Iser 189). He goes on further to state that the text provokes certain expectations which in
