Franz Liszt Contribution
Franz Liszt (1811 1886) Liszt was not only a principal figure in the Romantic Period but also a
composer of enormous originality and arguably the greatest piano virtuoso of his time. As a
composer, he radically extended the technique of piano writing, extended the harmonic language,
and later developed chromatic harmony which led eventual breakdown of tonality, revolutionizing
the music of the era. As a pianist, Liszt was the first to give complete solo recitals, and he did a
great deal to encourage the performance of music by Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, Berlioz, Wagner,
and Robert Schumann by transcribing their works for piano and playing them in his concerts at a
time when they were insufficiently appreciated. He also helped younger composers, and he taught a
number of pupils who themselves became famous virtuosos. Franz Liszt, one of the greatest pianist,
was a living legend and admired by some of the most accomplished musicians in the world. His
skills captivated his audience and impressed many musicians of his time. When Franz was five
years old, he was already attracted to the piano and was soon given lessons by his father, Adam
Liszt. He began to show interest in both church and Gypsy music. Franz began to compose at
the age of eight and at only nine years old, he made his first public appearance as a concert pianist.
He gave several concerts in Vienna, with great success. Liszt moved with his family to Paris in
1823. Liszt s Paris debut on March 7, 1824, was

Juvenile Crime
Imagine two innocent young children; one girl, age seven and the other, a boy, age nine. The
two are playing video games inside on a snowy, frigid day. After, the young girl s father, Richard
Ratti, ended the festivities a seven year old, Jessica Ratti went outside to ride a snow mobile
with her best friend. The nine year old boy, identified as Cameron Kocher, enraged at his parents
for not allowing him to participate stormed home, unlocked his father s gun cabinet, and stalked to
a window where he delivered the shots that ended Jessica Ratti s life. Cameron, who showed no
remorse for his previous wrong doings, was interchanged from juvenile and adult court, at least
once. However, the judge denied the transfer of his case into the juvenile... Show more content on

Following a steady decline since 2006, the Juvenile violent Crimes Index arrest rate reached a new
historic low point in 2014. However, crime rates in the 1980 s was comparatively lower than the
recent years. The arrest rate may have lowered, but this could mean that children are becoming
more efficient criminals. Which is why we need to reinforce the juvenile justice system. A quote
from Hanna Chiou further fortifies this statement. ...if our justice system uses mental incompetency
as the reason juveniles have their own separate and more lenient court, why aren t 40 year olds
with the mind of a 10 year old prosecuted in the juvenile justice system... (Chiou 130).Another
quote from Chiou expresses the same fact: ...fully competent and mature juveniles are fully capable
of committing the same crime as a competent adult. (Chiou 141). Why is it that in the eyes of
society even children with high intelligence, who are fully competent, that have malignant motives
for committing these vehement crimes receive gentle treatment, or a mere pop or the wrist? Why
is it that age means automatic innocence? Children who commit these crimes have obviously
chose so. Remember: Young people have to obey the same laws as adults. ( Juvenile Crime 167).
So why exactly would you not treat a well functioning child how he or she should be

Land Title System In Canada
The potential industrial/commercial property being examined as a possible business location is
located in St Pierre Jolys, Manitoba (near Winnipeg, Manitoba). It is important to note in which
province in Canada the property is located because some provinces use a different system for land
ownership and transfer than others. For example, in the Atlantic provinces of Canada and parts of
Ontario, the registry system is used, and in most of Ontario, the western provinces, and the
territories, the land titles system is used. In Manitoba, the land titles system is now used in the
entire jurisdiction (reference). Therefore, the location of the property is important in terms of the
steps to be taken in real estatesales in Canada because based on whether the registry or land titles
system is used, the steps, precautions, etc. That need to be taken vary. As an example, with the
registry system, a transfer of ownershipmust be registered, whereas with the land titles system, the
transfer must be filed. Additionally, the registry system does not provide the same protection from
interests that the land titles system does, and as such, requires more risk management steps to be
taken.
There are a magnitude of distinctive concerns that a purchaser would have regarding the property
in question. First of all, since the purchaser would want to change what the property is being used
for, the one would need to know that they can make the necessary changes to the operation of the
land and that

Marketing Strategy Of Vodafone
Telecommunications: Company Vodafone
Vodafone is a British multinational telecommunications company which operates its own networks
in 26 countries and has partner networks in over 50 countries. Such a wide range of markets
makes Vodafone apply different marketing strategies to satisfy customers needs and make profits
from it. This chapter of the essay will focus on EU s and Indian marketing strategies of Vodafoneto
prove the importance of having different marketing strategies in different markets.
The market in the EU is relatively mature compared with the Indian market. In a mature market
of telecommunications the number of consumers of a mobile network is relatively steady. On
Financial Times website, in Daniel Thomas s (2014) article Vodafone continues its evolution and
widens European foothold , he describes the marketing strategy of Vodafone in EU specifically.
Now the main strategy in EU is about expending Vodafone s business to other fields including
the broadband and TV markets. In order to realize the business expending Vodafone began to
purchase other companies like Ono of Spain, Cable Wireless Worldwide in the UK and Kabel
Deutschland in Germany which provide such service to customers. Also Building Vodafone s own
network in Italy, Spain and Portugal is another strategy used for business expending. Daniel
Thomas (2014) mentioned Mr. Colao CEO of Vodafone describes the strategy of Vodafone in EU s
market as the next chapter . Mr. Colao also pointed that

New And Alternative Sources Of Energy
Today s society uses enormous amounts of energy. *The shadow of our presence on this planet is
a result of generations upon generations of production and utilization of energy*. New and
alternative sources of energy are being developed to replace the declining accessibility of coal and
fossil fuels. Use of renewable energyis a key component in combatting the climate change that has
become a major issue in the 21st century. Reducing our impact on the climate as a result of
greenhouse gas emissions will not only benefit our generation, but countless generations after
us. This technology is not only affordable, but is within reach. With the ever increasing
population of 255 global births per minute ( How Many Babies... ) the demand for energy grows
substantially each day. There are many different sources of energy that are naturally available
throughout the world in different forms. This energy can be categorized into two main sources:
1) renewable and 2) non renewable sources. Energy sources are considered non renewable if they
cannot be replenished or made again in a short period of time. Non renewable sources come out
of the ground as liquids, gases and solids ( Nonrenewable ). Non renewable sources are limited,
not environmentally friendly when being extracted from the ground or when being used. They can
also be a direct cause of inflation in the economy due to increases and decreases in production.
Renewable sources are generated from natural resources that

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder ( Ptsd )
Abstract Individuals that show to have Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) are significantly
affected both mentally and emotionally due to the exposure to a traumatic event. PTSD is a life
long disorder that is being seen diagnosed more and more among returning soldiers and sexually
violated individuals. Because of its increased detection, the importance of constructing effective
treatments for individuals living with PTSD is becoming increasingly recognized. Although
effectively treating PTSD has shown to be rather difficult and complicated, there have been
potential breakthroughs, and a large amount of research is still being devoted to discovering
treatments for this disorder. The purpose of this paper is to review the literature that... Show more

The first criterion, exposure to a traumatic event, is central to PTSD. One has to be exposed, either
directly or indirectly (e.g. learning about a traumatic event), in order for them to acquire PTSD.
Only being exposed to a traumatic event is not enough to acquire this disorder, though, indicating
that the acquisition of this disorder is associated with both environmental and genetic causes. The
rest of the criteria for PTSD are direct consequences of this first criterion (Friedman, 2013).
Intrusion symptoms are those such as recurring memories, dreams, and flashbacks of the traumatic
event that are distressful and unwanted. Intrusion symptoms also include psychological and
physiological responses when exposed to reminders of the traumatic event (Friedman, 2013).
Avoidance symptoms are the avoidant actions an individual takes to counter the intrusion
symptoms. Since these intrusion symptoms are of a distressful nature, an individual might
consistently and determinately attempt to avoid all things (memories, dreams, flashbacks,
environmental reminders) related to the traumatic event (Friedman, 2013). The fourth criterion,
negative alterations in cognitions and mood,

Illegal Trafficking Is A Source, Transit, And Destination...
According to the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime, Bangladesh is a source, transit, and
destination for human trafficking involving women, men, and children (1). Bangladeshi men and
women are lured into work under false pretenses within their own country or into neighboring
countries (2). A large proportion of cross border trafficking in Bangladesh is due to migration in
search of employment. Most are subjected to forced labor or forced prostitution(3).
Thousands of unreported children are trafficked from Bangladesh to other countries every year
(2). Children who are taken by traffickers often come from impoverished or isolated regions. The
parents are promised that their children will have a well paid job or a nice marriage (4).
Impoverished and desperate, they trust the offers, which ultimately lead their children to be
exploited through trafficking (7).
3)If this is a destination country and/or if there is internal human trafficking, which forms of
trafficking are common in this country? (If you think that there are no forms of trafficking
happening within this country, provide citations about that and some reasons why it is not
happening. The reasons don t have to be proven, but they must be plausible.)
Within the country, trafficked people are subjected to sex trafficking, domestic servitude, or forced
and bonded labor (7).
Girls are commonly trafficked into sexual exploitation or bonded servitude. The sexual exploitation

Rhetorical Purpose: 2 One reason it is so important to understand how the rhetoric of popular

The Importance Of The Charter Of Rights And Freedom
The Charter of Rights and Freedom is a part of the Canadian Constitution which is a set of laws
with basic rules that run our country. Before the Charter was established, the Canadian society
was corrupt and unjust, but with the addition of it, Canada grew into a renowned wealthy, free,
and equal country. The Charter puts in place rights and freedoms that are necessary for a
balanced democratic society and it involves laws and rules that keep citizens protected and safe. It
also provides opportunities for social and economic success for not only the people of Canada, but
for Canada as a whole. The establishment of the Charter by Queen Elizabeth II on April 17, 1982
was truly the start of a positive, social and legal revolution for Canada that would continue to
benefit us and the country even today (Canadian 1; sec. 3, para. 8).
The Charter is divided into categorized sections that have different sets of rights or freedoms, but
they all come together to complete one job and that is ensuring every Canadian s rights and
keeping everyone safe. The greatest impact of the Charter has always been in the area of criminal
law. Charter protected legal rights mean more prominent protections for accused people, including
the right to speak to a lawyer, to not be detained subjectively, and to be free against unreasonable
search and seizure (Significance 1; sec. 5, para. 1). These things really makes Canada a fair and just
country. But, although the greatest impact of the Charter has been

Similarities Between Orangutans And The Great Apes
Within the world of primates, the family Hominidae includes the primates known as the great apes.
These primates, are then broken down into two subfamilies. One subfamily contains the primates
chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas and humans, while the other subfamily, Ponginae, only contains the
species Pongo, commonly known as the orangutan. Orangutans, although closely related to the
other great apes, represent a lot of extremes in biological parameters (Campbell, C. J., 2011). One
of the most drastic extremes is that orangutans are the largest primary arboreal mammal in the
world. This is a result of special evolutionary adaptations that allow these primates to mechanically
function in an arboreal lifestyle. Unlike the other great apes,... Show more content on

This book included a large section of information on orangutans with observations about basic traits
as well as mechanical and social behaviors. It is interesting to note that the section also notes the
various methods these orangutans were being hunted, killed or used by its enemies. It concludes
describing an old misconception of how an orangutan s great strength and ferocity render them
dangerous. We now know that these animals are actually very rarely aggressive, but rather solitary
social creatures. The common theme of primates being dangerous and monsters can be across
various historical writings. Orangutans, endemic now only in the southeast rainforests of Asia,
were once found throughout Asia (Campbell, C. J., 2011). Since 2001, there have only been two
species of orangutan identified, the Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo abeli) and the Bornean Orangutan
(Pongo pygmaeus) (Nater, A., et al. 2017). However, recent research, to be published later this
month, has identified a new third species of orangutan, Pongo tapanuliensis. This species of
orangutans, found south of Lake Toba, was once grouped with the Sumatran Orangutans, however,
recent genetic testing has identified them as a completely different species from those orangutans
found north of Lake Toba. Orangutans all face major issues in terms of numbers with all species
marked as either endangered or critically endangered due to hunting pressure and habitat
destruction. The palm oil industry has greatly

Freedom, Protected By The First Amendment In The Bill Of...
Freedom is a basic human right. We use it in every aspect of our lives. With family and friends,
we demonstrate our thoughts to each other about the world around us. Our privacy is shrinking

necessary to subdue freedom because we are scared. The belief of freedom includes the choice of
religion or absence of it if you choose to do so. The rightsand choices we make can go as far as we

With increased security, we have lost a lot of our privacy. Security from our defense systems,
such as the military, NSA, CIA and other government agencies, protect us everyday by
monitoring threats and online activities. The security measures in place at public areas, such as
full body scanners at airports and metal detectors at courthouses and some schools, are all in
place to protect the general population. As a consequence of improved security we lose some of
our privacy with the invasive searches of our person and our belongings. One of the former
president Barack Obama s last executive orders gave intelligence agencies the ability to have
weaker filter on the data from the Internet. With less of a filter, more information can be
collected about threats to the nation. CIA, FBI and other agencies will be able to access
surveillance on foreigners abroad, including information identifying Americans they may be in

suspicious tendencies not in the United States. This choice over freedom is not the way to go.

Dick Hebdige Analysis
When words fail, music speaks. This saying is commonly used to support the power that humans
give music over words, to the point that they are represented better by song lyrics then their own
voice. This leads to the rise of certain styles of music that a group of individuals can relate to and
find comfort in. Throughout history it has been evident how certain genres of music have been
associated with a type of culture because it represents their struggles and voices their thoughts.
However, music does not always speak the correct way for everyone. People also tend to take
lyrics and interpret them differently than what the original artist intended them to mean.
Misinterpretation can cause a lot of controversy, especially if the meaning of a song opposes a
certain culture, or individual. By comparing Dick Hebdige s article The Meaning of Styles and
Macklemore s song White Privilege, one can analyze how music can be appropriated by other
ethnicities. Hence, one can further understand the controversy that arises... Show more content on

Furthermore, this song causes a great amount of controversy and backlash to Macklemore,
especially from whites who felt offended by his lyrics. Thus, the controversy that arose caused
people to overlook the meaning behind White Privilege. They viewed this song as one who
focused solely on targeting the lifestyle of white, instead of viewing the original meaning which

Phoenicia Downfall
The Phoenicians were a group of people who thrived on the western side of the Fertile Crescent.
They first originated from Bahrain. They were the most wealthy and powerful traders in 1100 B.C.
Their first cities were next to the Mediterranean Sea in the area of Lebanon. Although the
Phoenicians did not control a grand empire, they were able to become rich through trade.
Eventually, they were able to spread their area all around the Mediterranean Sea. The Phoenicians
started their road to riches in a funny way. Around one of their cities on an island called Tyre,
tons of snails from the ocean were swept onshore by the ocean waves. The Phoenicians tried to
make use of these snails, and they discovered they could indeed make use of these snails. By
squeezing the poor snails, the Phoenicians could extract a very rich purple dye. This production
of purple dye led them to be called the purple people. However, the process was slow and tiring, as
making only one pound of this dye required the squeezing of 600,000 different snails. However,

Language Planning and Language Development
LANGUAGE PLANNING AND LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT
Language is a typically human phenomenon. In moving from the natural being of animal existence
to the cultural being of human existence, language plays the decisive role. Language gives a sense
of identity to an individual as well as a social group and, in the process, creates multiple identities.
The maintenance, merger, clash and change in identities based on and reflected in the language
change has prompted linguists, philosophers, psychologists, sociologists, anthropologists and
political scientists to study language in its multifarious dimensions. Since economic and societal

5. Illiteracy is a major problem of the country (Pattanayak 1974). Out of 800 million illiterates in
the world, India is credited to have 400 million . if in eradicating illiteracy the intention is to move
from a culture of silence to a culture of thinking participation and the emphasis is on the creation
of an intelligent task force for economic and industrial development, then, urgent and bold steps
need to be taken in this area. Literacy in a multilingual must be based on the expressed needs of a
people3. Secondly, the language of literacy has to be determined keeping in view the various
contexts of language use and strategies linking the languages of literacy with that of education and
administration.
It would thus be quite clear that whether it is in the field of language use in education, language
use in administration or in mass media, there is a constant need to weigh alternatives and plan
action. The examples cited above are as true of any multilingual country as they are of India. Such
examples not only establish the necessity for language planning, but also the need to analyse its

Before talking about language planning, one must understand the motivation and mechanisms of

Virtual Work
Definition:
Our textbook defines virtual work as, employees use information technology to perform their jobs
away from the traditional physical workplace. The most common form of virtual work, called
telecommuting or teleworking, involves working at home rather than commuting to the office
(McShane Von Glinow, 2010, p. 22).
Summary: In his article, Unilever Moves Employee Telecommutingto a New Level, Gary M. Stern
writes about how most employers today offer telecommuting and some go beyond that. Unilever is
a consumer goods company that in 2010 launched a program titled Agile Working that allows its
employees to telecommute anytime anywhere. With a 30% participation rate, employees are
encouraged to work as long as they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research has shown that supervisors and managers will automatically recall these employees
that are in the office positively. However, those who telecommute or do other virtual work away
from the office don t get this advantage. Adams does believe it s possible to make this time up
and offers some advice for employees who need to make up face time (Adams 2012). In addition
to telecommuting from home more and more employees are using programs like the company
Unilever to work remotely. In her article, Your Next Office: At Home? Rachel Emma Silverman
describes how 84% of workers who worked remotely...did so at least once a week, up from 72%
in 2008 (Silverman 2012). She writes of how this trend has truly grown and even expanded into
new fields of work. The same advantages and disadvantages that our textbook writes of are included
in this article. But, she doesn t name employees needing face time and taking heed to some advice
to make some changes on their end. Silverman instead states that management not the virtual
working employees should be the ones leading better outcomes (Silverman 2012).

Methods and tools for studying children
This essay is a continuation to a previous assignment which discussed how attitudes towards
studying children have changed. In this child participation, child voice and consent were identified
as three key principles researchers should aspire to when studying children. This essay therefore
intends to extend upon these principles by identifying an approach and researchtool which will
effectively incorporate all principles within a research study.
The context of the research study is a male adult and male child sat at a potter s wheel modelling
clay. The aim of the study is to observe and assess the child s level of cognitive development
during an interactive period with an adult who is using the technique of scaffolding (Wood, Bruner,
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To overcome this problem the child will be encouraged to pause the video at intervals they
wished to talk about, thus the recording becomes more representable of a learning story; as the
child could help to produce still images of the video and place their comments under the
individual pictures. Although time consuming this process is very important as it not only
encourages child participation and strong voice of the child, it also reinforces the authenticity of
the overall research as the perspective of the child is being gained. This is an important factor as
observers do not always interpret observations correctly as people see and interpret things
differently (Hobart and Frankel, 2004) and although it is said the camera never lies, it may be
distorted (Sharman, Cross and Vennis, 2006)
By blending the method of a written narrative with aspects of the mosaic approach not only will a
detailed observation be obtained but arguably an observation with substance; as professionals do
not have to take the evaluation of the observation at face value, the data is there and available for
them to examine. The child actively engaging with the research study also adds another dimension,
as the actual views and actions of the participant are documented, arguably when research is
conducted via surveys, questionnaires and even interviews the data collected is constrained to the

Silence In The Short Story No Name Woman
Silence Parents confide in their children about many things. They might talk to their children about
their friends, family, or anything that they can t share others. When parents start to tell their child

Why did you and dad separate? Why is he not living here anymore? When she finally gave me
the answer it was not the answers to the questions I asked all the tim. It was the answer to a
question that I had never asked. She went into the story of how my dad told her that he was
divorcing her. My dad had left a note in the bathroom saying that he had ran away with my
stepmom to Mardi Gras. This was all the information that I was given. Don t let your father
know that I told you (569). She told me the exact words that Kingston s mom told her. My
mother would get very upset when I brought up their divorce, because of this I felt like I couldn t
ask her all the questions running through my head. Instead of asking questions I started to create
stories in my head of what happened. The stories consisted of how my dad had met my stepmom.
Why they decided to run away to Mardi Gras. Why my dad specifically left the note in the
bathroom. Over time the stories changed my mind of how I viewed my new stepmom. Because of
my mom confiding in me I hated my stepmom, because she was the one that ripped apart my

John Philip Sousa was an American composer and conductor of the late Romantic era. Sousa was
born in Washington, D.C. on November 6, 1854, to John Antonio Sousa and Maria Elisabeth
Trinkhaus. Born of both Portuguese and Bavarian ancestry. His father was Portuguese, and his
mother of Bavarian ancestry. Sousa started his music education by playing the violin as a pupil of
John Esputa and George Felix Benkert for harmony and musical composition at the age of six. At
this time he also began studying voice, violin, piano, flute, cornet, baritone, trombone and alto horn.
He was found to have absolute pitch. When Sousa reached the age of 13, his father, a trombonist in

Sousa wrote 136 marches, published by the Sam Fox Publishing Company beginning in 1917 and

Some of the most popular marches Sousa wrote included Semper Fidelis (1888) (Official March of

Tyranny In The United States Essay
The United States democracy is an effective system of government carefully crafted by the
founding fathers to ensure that nobody can gain too much power over the rest. When the founding
fathers were drafting the constitution they were referring to a person or a group when referring to
Tyranny . Unfortunately tyranny has arisen in the United States, but not in the way anyone
expected, race has become a form of tyranny. The tyrannical white majority has been a large
influence in the United States ever since inception and have been substantially prevalent around
events in the US like reconstruction, civil rights movement, and the election of the first african
american president of the united states. Many have identified and have tried to counteract the
problem of tyranny of the white majority, but to no avail. Democratic reform like the Voting rights
act, civil rights act, brown v board of education, and the election of president obama have failed to
help counteract the problem of tyranny of the white majority seen in the United States. The tyranny
of the white majority doesn t have one specific definition, but it is ever prevalent in society. The
definition has been reformed over time with changing times. The tyranny of the white majority is a
system of oppression in the us government where the whites in the united states have stronger
influence over laws and the general government giving the minorities less power in the government.

Diabetes Jensen Case Summary
Surgery always comes with a number of risks and when you compound that with any pre existing
medical conditions it often creates a host of post operative complications that the body has to now
try and compensate for. When this stress response kicks in its main goal is to preserve the body s
vital resources to ultimately keep the individual alive by regulating blood pressure, heart rate,
electrolytes, oxygen output, respiratory rate, blood volume distribution, coagulation, blood sugar
and urine output. Mr Jensen was diagnosed with Diabetes Melitus (Type II) 2 years ago and a
history of Hypertension which would create extra burden to regulate the above mentioned vital
resources which could potentially be life threatening. A major factor that... Show more content on

Stress is displayed in many forms, so aside from the physical trauma the body has to deal with,
anxiety and emotions also add to Mr Jensens stress which typically causes a rise in heart rate and
blood pressure and a reduction of pain tolerance. Post operatively Mr. Jensen s blood pressure has
dropped which through a series of signaling pathways indirectly activates the sympathetic nervous
system to release catecholamine, glucagon and inhibition of insulin thereby resulting in retention
of sodium and water, a rise in blood pressure and blood sugar and ultimately leading to renal
dysfunction through the disruption of the renin angiotensin system. The presence of hypotension
from the injury and post surgery has led to Mr Jensens hypovolaemia. Less blood in his body
means that he has less oxygen carrying capability. Mr. Jensen s oxygen concentration is nearing
critically low which may then cause cardiovascular implications however his blood pressure post
surgery was low. The decrease in arterial blood flow or oxygen tension then decreases the
chemoreceptor oxygen extraction, decreasing venous

Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia ( All )
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), a malignant disorder of lymphoid progenitor cells, is the
most common hematological malignancy affects children, accounting for 25 30% of all
childhood cancers with peak prevalence between the ages of 2 and 5 years [1]. The causes of
pediatric acute leukemias are still not well known, the identification of causes and prevention/early
intervention is clearly a worthwhile goal [2]. Previous studies have demonstrated that the
interaction between genetic background, lifestyle, and these environmental factors play a critical
role in the development of ALL in children [3]. MicroRNAs are a class of small (17 25
nucleotides) single stranded noncoding RNAs that function as a sequence targeted modifiers of gene
expression through translational repression [4]. The miRNAs are important key regulators of
normal hematopoiesis and their disruption could lead to leukemogenesis [5]. Mutations like single
nucleotide polymorphisms located in microRNA binding sites can cause disruption in microRNA
target interactions, leading to deregulation of the target gene expression [6]. One of these SNPs is
the one found within the miR 502 binding site in the 3′ UTR of the SET8 gene. SET8 (also
known as PR SET7; located on chromosome 12q24.31) encodes a histone H4 Lys 20 specific
methyltransferase which plays an important role in cell cycle dependent transcriptional silencing
and mitotic regulation [7]. There are about 129 variants of the SET8 gene

Baseball Field, Track, And Weight Room
A popular saying around every gym, field, track, and weight room is that it, no matter what activity
it is that a sportsman is participating in, is ten percent physical and ninety percent mental. For the
kids who hear this daily, it is nothing more than a hollow statement a coach says to make them feel
better about being physically subordinate to their opponents. I have heard this mantra throughout
my life on the baseball field, football field, track, gymnasium, in the weight room, and on the
wrestlingmat. Just like those poor aforementioned kids being yelled at by their coach, this
statement just bounced off me, never finding a sticking place among all my doubt and insecurity.
Nowhere was this more true that on the wrestling mat; Coach Jaimez has told my teammates and I
this countless times, and not once throughout my first four years of wrestling did this ever sink in.
I am ashamed of this, as those athletes in the know, whether they be in High School or draped in
their nation s flag competing for a gold medal, know that this statement could not be more true for
the sport of wrestling. Wrestling is a mental sport that is determined by a competitor s decision to
focus on himself rather than his opponent and the competitor s confidence in himself and his
potential to succeed.
There I was, standing in the locker room at Enka High School, dressed only in a pair of
compression shorts, shivering among seventy three other High Schoolers as we weighed in before

Analysis Ontological Argument
Many different philosophers have argued the existence of God in the form of ontological
arguments. The first philosopher to make such argument is Saint Anselm of Canterbury. St. Anselm
argued that God is something than which nothing greater can be imagined (Barnes). He believed
that there was nothing in this world whose existenceand understanding could be imagined to be
greater than the existence of Godand that even a fool would agree that there is something in this
universe in which nothing can be greater than. Another philosopher who argued on the existence of
godis Guanilo. Guanilo argued that if the greatest of something (he gave the argument of an island)
can exist in the mind, then it must have to exist in reality. If there is something... Show more content

This is because Plantinga s premises only work if someone already believes that there is an
entity somewhere in some world that is the greatest of all. Plantinga could have a better
ontological argument if his key points were focused on attracting an audience that is skeptical on
the existence of god. Maximal greatness is hard to argue about because everyone has a different
definition for what is great and not great; this is another reason why I oppose Plantinga s
ontological argument. While I personally do believe in god myself, the ontological argument of
Plantinga does not emphasize my belief on the existence of god or emphasis that god does exist
because his argument does not seem strong to

Moses Cooper In A Separate Peace
Moses is an ordinary farmer, and is one of the leader in the revolutionary activities. He is a very
opinionated man and likes to argue. He is proud of his Protestant heritage as a people of the Book,
and he scolds his son Adam for superstitious behavior, telling him the Coopers have been proud of
their literate and educated tradition. Moses helps a lot of people especially his neighbor Joseph
Simmons. Moses helped Simmons draft the statement on the rights of manas a basis for negotiating
with the British for independence. Moses is hard on his son Adam until he hears that Adam
does not think that he loves him. Hate him? My father exploded of all the crazy notions, of all
idiotic ideas. There is a boy, my first born son why would I hate him. (Page 45) He tells him he
is too young for the Committee but at the last minute allows his son to sign up for the muster on
the Common because he sees in Adam s eyes that he will lose his son if he does not recognize
him as a man in front of the other men. In the book, Moses Cooper is portrayed as a very
opinionated, religious, and an enraged man but behind all of this he is a very emotional person.

Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman.
In the book Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman, the central thesis that he
tries to point out is that emotional intelligence may be more important than I.Q. in
determining a person s well being and success in life. At first I didn t know what
Goleman was talking about when he said emotional intelligence, but after reading the
book I have to say that I agree completely with Goleman. One reason for my acceptance
of Goleman s theory is that academic intelligence has little to do with emotional life. To
me, emotions can be just as intelligent as your I.Q. In this book report I hope to provide
sufficient evidence to show why I agree with Goleman s thesis on emotional intelligence.

I.Q. people are the caricature of the intellectual, adept in the realm of mind but inept in
the personal world. And all of this is just for the men. Goleman states, The profiles
differ slightly for men and women. High I.Q. women have intellectual confidence, are
fluent in expressing their thoughts and have a wide range of intellectual and aesthetic
interests. Goleman also does point out that these are extremes and that everyone mixes
I.Q. and emotional intelligence in varying degrees. But this does give us an instructive
look at what each of these dimensions adds to a person s qualities.
In the book, Emotional Intelligence , Goleman talks about two psychologists
(Sternberg and Salovey) who have taken a wider view on intelligence and give terms of
what they think it takes to lead a successful life. They mention five domains they think
lead up to high emotional intelligence. These domains are: knowing one s emotions,
managing emotions, motivating oneself, recognizing emotions of others, and handling
relationships. If you think about it, these domains are big keys to life. I mean if you
don t have any self awareness, you are missing a key element of emotional intelligence.

Analysis Of Frankenstein By Mary Shelly
One of the most popular formats for literature is a hero faced with seemingly insurmountable
struggles who is able to overcome these obstacles and live happily ever after . However, some of
the most famous books in literature have an extremely different structure to their stories. These
books center on characters of questionable moral integrity, who through their own poor decisions
bring about their own misery and often ultimate demise. When examined this theme of self
destruction can be seen in many of what are considered the greatest books in western
civilization. One of the books where this theme can be seen is in the popular horror story
Frankenstein written in 1816 by Mary Shelly. Another place this can be seen is in many of the
writings of Edgar Allen Poe, especially in his physiological thrillers. An additional place this can
be seen is in the play written in 1890 by Henrik Ibsencalled Hedda Gabler. In all of these stories it
is the main characters own choices that lead to the destruction of their happiness. Frankenstein is
one of the most famous classic horror stories in today s culture, having been retold and reimagined
countless times. However, when one reads the original book by Mary Shelly, Frankenstein may be
seen as not quite the sympathetic character some more recent renditions lead one to believe. The
book indicates that the main reason Frankenstein is lead to create his monster is because of his
desire for academic prestige and to control and manipulate

Portrayal Of A Woman Associated By Thomas Hardy
Novelist Thomas Hardy voiced many strong opinions through his writing about the crushing power
of Victorian society and the rules and regulations concerning marriage. Contradicting the
expectations of society was something Hardy delighted in, but Hardy s reader response began to
suffer. As his career progressed, his novels became increasingly more pessimistic and his readers
heavily criticized his last two novels. After writing Jude the Obscure, he resolved to not write any
more novels because of the negative feedback he kept receiving for this and his previous novel.
However, Hardy was able to expertly incorporate his beliefs into his narratives and reflect his views
upon his characters. This results in the rebellious characters described in Jude the Obscure,
particularly the character Sue Bridehead. This character has been described as the first fiction
portrayal of a woman associated with the feminist movement (Boumelha, 135). In the novel Jude
the Obscure, Hardy present his thoughts on marriageand divorce in the nineteenth century in a way
that was radical for his time. Hardy did not believe in the happy ending, instead he found it to be
misleading (Morgan, 111). In this particular text he refers to marriage as an ugly business, no
matter who is involved (Davis, 65). Hardy held the belief for a long time that marriage should be
easy to get out of and it appeared throughout many of novels, not just Jude the Obscure (Davis,
123). In this novel, he references the

Soluble lithium compounds are readily absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract but not the skin;
distribution is rapid to the liver and kidneys but slower to other organ systems

A Summary Of Bayer Aspirin
As a result of the calculations made above the concentration of the pure ASA in the 10.0mL of

Presumably, the mass (in mg) of pure ASA based on the two consecutive dilutions was

due to the overall percent yield, which will be discussed further. Also, according to the same
calculations made in calculation #1, the calculated mass for Bayer Aspirinwas inaccurate as the
calculated value was less than what was said by the company. In other words, the Bayer Aspirin
did not contain 325mg of ASA, instead it actually contained 283mg. The percent purity of ASA
was calculated to be 65.0 % and based on the reaction table, the limiting reagent was salicylic acid

  • 2. Franz Liszt Contribution Franz Liszt (1811 1886) Liszt was not only a principal figure in the Romantic Period but also a composer of enormous originality and arguably the greatest piano virtuoso of his time. As a composer, he radically extended the technique of piano writing, extended the harmonic language, and later developed chromatic harmony which led eventual breakdown of tonality, revolutionizing the music of the era. As a pianist, Liszt was the first to give complete solo recitals, and he did a great deal to encourage the performance of music by Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, Berlioz, Wagner, and Robert Schumann by transcribing their works for piano and playing them in his concerts at a time when they were insufficiently appreciated. He also helped younger composers, and he taught a number of pupils who themselves became famous virtuosos. Franz Liszt, one of the greatest pianist, was a living legend and admired by some of the most accomplished musicians in the world. His skills captivated his audience and impressed many musicians of his time. When Franz was five years old, he was already attracted to the piano and was soon given lessons by his father, Adam Liszt. He began to show interest in both church and Gypsy music. Franz began to compose at the age of eight and at only nine years old, he made his first public appearance as a concert pianist. He gave several concerts in Vienna, with great success. Liszt moved with his family to Paris in 1823. Liszt s Paris debut on March 7, 1824, was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After, the young girl s father, Richard Ratti, ended the festivities a seven year old, Jessica Ratti went outside to ride a snow mobile with her best friend. The nine year old boy, identified as Cameron Kocher, enraged at his parents for not allowing him to participate stormed home, unlocked his father s gun cabinet, and stalked to a window where he delivered the shots that ended Jessica Ratti s life. Cameron, who showed no remorse for his previous wrong doings, was interchanged from juvenile and adult court, at least once. However, the judge denied the transfer of his case into the juvenile... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Following a steady decline since 2006, the Juvenile violent Crimes Index arrest rate reached a new historic low point in 2014. However, crime rates in the 1980 s was comparatively lower than the recent years. The arrest rate may have lowered, but this could mean that children are becoming more efficient criminals. Which is why we need to reinforce the juvenile justice system. A quote from Hanna Chiou further fortifies this statement. ...if our justice system uses mental incompetency as the reason juveniles have their own separate and more lenient court, why aren t 40 year olds with the mind of a 10 year old prosecuted in the juvenile justice system... (Chiou 130).Another quote from Chiou expresses the same fact: ...fully competent and mature juveniles are fully capable of committing the same crime as a competent adult. (Chiou 141). Why is it that in the eyes of society even children with high intelligence, who are fully competent, that have malignant motives for committing these vehement crimes receive gentle treatment, or a mere pop or the wrist? Why is it that age means automatic innocence? Children who commit these crimes have obviously chose so. Remember: Young people have to obey the same laws as adults. ( Juvenile Crime 167). So why exactly would you not treat a well functioning child how he or she should be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Land Title System In Canada The potential industrial/commercial property being examined as a possible business location is located in St Pierre Jolys, Manitoba (near Winnipeg, Manitoba). It is important to note in which province in Canada the property is located because some provinces use a different system for land ownership and transfer than others. For example, in the Atlantic provinces of Canada and parts of Ontario, the registry system is used, and in most of Ontario, the western provinces, and the territories, the land titles system is used. In Manitoba, the land titles system is now used in the entire jurisdiction (reference). Therefore, the location of the property is important in terms of the steps to be taken in real estatesales in Canada because based on whether the registry or land titles system is used, the steps, precautions, etc. That need to be taken vary. As an example, with the registry system, a transfer of ownershipmust be registered, whereas with the land titles system, the transfer must be filed. Additionally, the registry system does not provide the same protection from interests that the land titles system does, and as such, requires more risk management steps to be taken. There are a magnitude of distinctive concerns that a purchaser would have regarding the property in question. First of all, since the purchaser would want to change what the property is being used for, the one would need to know that they can make the necessary changes to the operation of the land and that ... Marketing Strategy Of Vodafone Telecommunications: Company Vodafone Vodafone is a British multinational telecommunications company which operates its own networks in 26 countries and has partner networks in over 50 countries. Such a wide range of markets makes Vodafone apply different marketing strategies to satisfy customers needs and make profits from it. This chapter of the essay will focus on EU s and Indian marketing strategies of Vodafoneto prove the importance of having different marketing strategies in different markets. The market in the EU is relatively mature compared with the Indian market. In a mature market of telecommunications the number of consumers of a mobile network is relatively steady. On Financial Times website, in Daniel Thomas s (2014) article Vodafone continues its evolution and widens European foothold , he describes the marketing strategy of Vodafone in EU specifically. Now the main strategy in EU is about expending Vodafone s business to other fields including the broadband and TV markets. In order to realize the business expending Vodafone began to purchase other companies like Ono of Spain, Cable Wireless Worldwide in the UK and Kabel Deutschland in Germany which provide such service to customers. New and alternative sources of energy are being developed to replace the declining accessibility of coal and fossil fuels. Use of renewable energyis a key component in combatting the climate change that has become a major issue in the 21st century. Reducing our impact on the climate as a result of greenhouse gas emissions will not only benefit our generation, but countless generations after us. This technology is not only affordable, but is within reach. With the ever increasing population of 255 global births per minute ( How Many Babies... ) the demand for energy grows substantially each day. There are many different sources of energy that are naturally available throughout the world in different forms. This energy can be categorized into two main sources: 1) renewable and 2) non renewable sources. Energy sources are considered non renewable if they cannot be replenished or made again in a short period of time. Non renewable sources come out of the ground as liquids, gases and solids ( Nonrenewable ). Non renewable sources are limited, not environmentally friendly when being extracted from the ground or when being used. They can also be a direct cause of inflation in the economy due to increases and decreases in production. Renewable sources are generated from natural resources that ... Posttraumatic Stress Disorder ( Ptsd ) Abstract Individuals that show to have Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) are significantly affected both mentally and emotionally due to the exposure to a traumatic event. PTSD is a life long disorder that is being seen diagnosed more and more among returning soldiers and sexually violated individuals. Because of its increased detection, the importance of constructing effective treatments for individuals living with PTSD is becoming increasingly recognized. One has to be exposed, either directly or indirectly (e.g. learning about a traumatic event), in order for them to acquire PTSD. Only being exposed to a traumatic event is not enough to acquire this disorder, though, indicating that the acquisition of this disorder is associated with both environmental and genetic causes. The rest of the criteria for PTSD are direct consequences of this first criterion (Friedman, 2013). Intrusion symptoms are those such as recurring memories, dreams, and flashbacks of the traumatic event that are distressful and unwanted. Intrusion symptoms also include psychological and physiological responses when exposed to reminders of the traumatic event (Friedman, 2013). Avoidance symptoms are the avoidant actions an individual takes to counter the intrusion symptoms. Before the Charter was established, the Canadian society was corrupt and unjust, but with the addition of it, Canada grew into a renowned wealthy, free, and equal country. The Charter puts in place rights and freedoms that are necessary for a balanced democratic society and it involves laws and rules that keep citizens protected and safe. It also provides opportunities for social and economic success for not only the people of Canada, but for Canada as a whole. The establishment of the Charter by Queen Elizabeth II on April 17, 1982 was truly the start of a positive, social and legal revolution for Canada that would continue to benefit us and the country even today (Canadian 1; sec. 3, para. 8). The Charter is divided into categorized sections that have different sets of rights or freedoms, but they all come together to complete one job and that is ensuring every Canadian s rights and keeping everyone safe. The greatest impact of the Charter has always been in the area of criminal law. Charter protected legal rights mean more prominent protections for accused people, including the right to speak to a lawyer, to not be detained subjectively, and to be free against unreasonable search and seizure (Significance 1; sec. 5, para. 1). We now know that these animals are actually very rarely aggressive, but rather solitary social creatures. The common theme of primates being dangerous and monsters can be across various historical writings. Orangutans, endemic now only in the southeast rainforests of Asia, were once found throughout Asia (Campbell, C. J., 2011). This saying is commonly used to support the power that humans give music over words, to the point that they are represented better by song lyrics then their own voice. This leads to the rise of certain styles of music that a group of individuals can relate to and find comfort in. Throughout history it has been evident how certain genres of music have been associated with a type of culture because it represents their struggles and voices their thoughts. Sousa wanted a tuba that could sound upward and over the band whenever its player was seated or marching. Sousa wrote 136 marches, published by the Sam Fox Publishing Company beginning in 1917 and continuing until his death. Of these 136 marches, Sousa wrote marches for several American universities, including University of Illinois, University of Nebraska, Kansas State University, Marquette University, and University of Minnesota. Some of the most popular marches Sousa wrote included Semper Fidelis (1888) (Official March of the United States Marine Corps), Stars and Stripes Forever (1896) (National March of the United States), Hands Across the Sea (dedicated to the band of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets the Highty Tighties) (1899), U.S. Field Artillery (1917) (Modified version The Army Goes Rolling Along is the official song of the U.S. Army), and Salvation Army March (1930) (dedicated to The Salvation Army s 50th anniversary in the USA). On December 30, 1879, Sousa married Jane van Middlesworth Bellis (1862 1944). They had three children together: John Philip, Jr. (April 1, 1881 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Tyranny In The United States Essay The United States democracy is an effective system of government carefully crafted by the founding fathers to ensure that nobody can gain too much power over the rest. When the founding fathers were drafting the constitution they were referring to a person or a group when referring to Tyranny . Unfortunately tyranny has arisen in the United States, but not in the way anyone expected, race has become a form of tyranny. The tyrannical white majority has been a large influence in the United States ever since inception and have been substantially prevalent around events in the US like reconstruction, civil rights movement, and the election of the first african american president of the united states. Many have identified and have tried to counteract the problem of tyranny of the white majority, but to no avail. Democratic reform like the Voting rights act, civil rights act, brown v board of education, and the election of president obama have failed to help counteract the problem of tyranny of the white majority seen in the United States. The tyranny of the white majority doesn t have one specific definition, but it is ever prevalent in society. The definition has been reformed over time with changing times. The tyranny of the white majority is a system of oppression in the us government where the whites in the united states have stronger influence over laws and the general government giving the minorities less power in the government. • 27. Diabetes Jensen Case Summary Surgery always comes with a number of risks and when you compound that with any pre existing medical conditions it often creates a host of post operative complications that the body has to now try and compensate for. When this stress response kicks in its main goal is to preserve the body s vital resources to ultimately keep the individual alive by regulating blood pressure, heart rate, electrolytes, oxygen output, respiratory rate, blood volume distribution, coagulation, blood sugar and urine output. Mr Jensen was diagnosed with Diabetes Melitus (Type II) 2 years ago and a history of Hypertension which would create extra burden to regulate the above mentioned vital resources which could potentially be life threatening. Stress is displayed in many forms, so aside from the physical trauma the body has to deal with, anxiety and emotions also add to Mr Jensens stress which typically causes a rise in heart rate and blood pressure and a reduction of pain tolerance. Post operatively Mr. Jensen s blood pressure has dropped which through a series of signaling pathways indirectly activates the sympathetic nervous system to release catecholamine, glucagon and inhibition of insulin thereby resulting in retention of sodium and water, a rise in blood pressure and blood sugar and ultimately leading to renal dysfunction through the disruption of the renin angiotensin system. The presence of hypotension from the injury and post surgery has led to Mr Jensens hypovolaemia. Less blood in his body means that he has less oxygen carrying capability. Mr. Jensen s oxygen concentration is nearing critically low which may then cause cardiovascular implications however his blood pressure post surgery was low. The decrease in arterial blood flow or oxygen tension then decreases the chemoreceptor oxygen extraction, decreasing venous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia ( All ) Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), a malignant disorder of lymphoid progenitor cells, is the most common hematological malignancy affects children, accounting for 25 30% of all childhood cancers with peak prevalence between the ages of 2 and 5 years [1]. The causes of pediatric acute leukemias are still not well known, the identification of causes and prevention/early intervention is clearly a worthwhile goal [2]. Previous studies have demonstrated that the interaction between genetic background, lifestyle, and these environmental factors play a critical role in the development of ALL in children [3]. MicroRNAs are a class of small (17 25 nucleotides) single stranded noncoding RNAs that function as a sequence targeted modifiers of gene expression through translational repression [4]. The miRNAs are important key regulators of normal hematopoiesis and their disruption could lead to leukemogenesis [5]. Mutations like single nucleotide polymorphisms located in microRNA binding sites can cause disruption in microRNA target interactions, leading to deregulation of the target gene expression [6]. One of these SNPs is the one found within the miR 502 binding site in the 3′ UTR of the SET8 gene. SET8 (also known as PR SET7; located on chromosome 12q24.31) encodes a histone H4 Lys 20 specific methyltransferase which plays an important role in cell cycle dependent transcriptional silencing and mitotic regulation [7]. There are about 129 variants of the SET8 gene ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Baseball Field, Track, And Weight Room A popular saying around every gym, field, track, and weight room is that it, no matter what activity it is that a sportsman is participating in, is ten percent physical and ninety percent mental. For the kids who hear this daily, it is nothing more than a hollow statement a coach says to make them feel better about being physically subordinate to their opponents. I have heard this mantra throughout my life on the baseball field, football field, track, gymnasium, in the weight room, and on the wrestlingmat. Just like those poor aforementioned kids being yelled at by their coach, this statement just bounced off me, never finding a sticking place among all my doubt and insecurity. Nowhere was this more true that on the wrestling mat; Coach Jaimez has told my teammates and I this countless times, and not once throughout my first four years of wrestling did this ever sink in. I am ashamed of this, as those athletes in the know, whether they be in High School or draped in their nation s flag competing for a gold medal, know that this statement could not be more true for the sport of wrestling. Wrestling is a mental sport that is determined by a competitor s decision to focus on himself rather than his opponent and the competitor s confidence in himself and his potential to succeed. There I was, standing in the locker room at Enka High School, dressed only in a pair of compression shorts, shivering among seventy three other High Schoolers as we weighed in before the match. I ... The first philosopher to make such argument is Saint Anselm of Canterbury. St. Anselm argued that God is something than which nothing greater can be imagined (Barnes). In the book Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman, the central thesis that he tries to point out is that emotional intelligence may be more important than I.Q. in determining a person s well being and success in life. At first I didn t know what Goleman was talking about when he said emotional intelligence, but after reading the book I have to say that I agree completely with Goleman. One reason for my acceptance of Goleman s theory is that academic intelligence has little to do with emotional life. To me, emotions can be just as intelligent as your I.Q. High I.Q. women have intellectual confidence, are fluent in expressing their thoughts and have a wide range of intellectual and aesthetic interests. Goleman also does point out that these are extremes and that everyone mixes I.Q. and emotional intelligence in varying degrees. But this does give us an instructive look at what each of these dimensions adds to a person s qualities. In the book, Emotional Intelligence , Goleman talks about two psychologists (Sternberg and Salovey) who have taken a wider view on intelligence and give terms of what they think it takes to lead a successful life. They mention five domains they think lead up to high emotional intelligence. These domains are: knowing one s emotions,

  • 37. Analysis Of Frankenstein By Mary Shelly One of the most popular formats for literature is a hero faced with seemingly insurmountable struggles who is able to overcome these obstacles and live happily ever after . However, some of the most famous books in literature have an extremely different structure to their stories. These books center on characters of questionable moral integrity, who through their own poor decisions bring about their own misery and often ultimate demise. When examined this theme of self destruction can be seen in many of what are considered the greatest books in western civilization. One of the books where this theme can be seen is in the popular horror story Frankenstein written in 1816 by Mary Shelly. Another place this can be seen is in many of the writings of Edgar Allen Poe, especially in his physiological thrillers. An additional place this can be seen is in the play written in 1890 by Henrik Ibsencalled Hedda Gabler. In all of these stories it is the main characters own choices that lead to the destruction of their happiness. Frankenstein is one of the most famous classic horror stories in today s culture, having been retold and reimagined countless times. However, when one reads the original book by Mary Shelly, Frankenstein may be seen as not quite the sympathetic character some more recent renditions lead one to believe. The book indicates that the main reason Frankenstein is lead to create his monster is because of his desire for academic prestige and to control and manipulate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Portrayal Of A Woman Associated By Thomas Hardy Novelist Thomas Hardy voiced many strong opinions through his writing about the crushing power of Victorian society and the rules and regulations concerning marriage. Contradicting the expectations of society was something Hardy delighted in, but Hardy s reader response began to suffer. As his career progressed, his novels became increasingly more pessimistic and his readers heavily criticized his last two novels. After writing Jude the Obscure, he resolved to not write any more novels because of the negative feedback he kept receiving for this and his previous novel. However, Hardy was able to expertly incorporate his beliefs into his narratives and reflect his views upon his characters. This results in the rebellious characters described in Jude the Obscure, particularly the character Sue Bridehead. This character has been described as the first fiction portrayal of a woman associated with the feminist movement (Boumelha, 135). In the novel Jude the Obscure, Hardy present his thoughts on marriageand divorce in the nineteenth century in a way that was radical for his time. Hardy did not believe in the happy ending, instead he found it to be misleading (Morgan, 111). In this particular text he refers to marriage as an ugly business, no matter who is involved (Davis, 65). Hardy held the belief for a long time that marriage should be easy to get out of and it appeared throughout many of novels, not just Jude the Obscure (Davis, 123). A Summary Of Bayer Aspirin As a result of the calculations made above the concentration of the pure ASA in the 10.0mL of NaOH in mg/mL, based on the Beer s Law plot found in figure 1.0 was 0.0978mg/mL. Presumably, the mass (in mg) of pure ASA based on the two consecutive dilutions was approximately 97.8 mg this value is unsuccessfully proven to match the associated theoretical value due to the overall percent yield, which will be discussed further. Also, according to the same calculations made in calculation #1, the calculated mass for Bayer Aspirinwas inaccurate as the calculated value was less than what was said by the company. In other words, the Bayer Aspirin did not contain 325mg of ASA, instead it actually contained 283mg. The percent purity of ASA was calculated to be 65.0 % and based on the reaction table, the limiting reagent was salicylic acid and manipulations were made with the actual and theoretical yield which gave an overall percent yield of 53.4%. Furthermore, since this value is less that 100%, it is considered to be a small percentage yield, this is an indication that the actual yield was less than the theoretical yield. The reason for such a small value can include the incompletion and/or loss of sample during each part of the experiment. Beer s law was involved in the calculations in order to solve for the concentration of the pure ASA when using the absorbance reading of the prepared ASA in table 3. This method was helpful in terms of solving for the unknown concentration in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
