Essay Bachelor Degree Required
Bachelor Degree Required
Seeking advancement in my company seems to have the term Bachelor Degree Required assigned
to it. Without a degree it s not impossible to be promoted, but it s more of an exception than the
norm. At times, should the applicant have sufficient years of equivalent experience and be known
by the group hiring, the requirement can be waived. With the constant change in company policies,
the equivalency option may be removed. Then what am I going to do? With so many younger
people entering the work place with degrees in hand, it is more and more prevalent that I complete
my education.
A college degree combined with several years of experience should help ensure my personal
marketability. There are more jobseekers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I need to understand the aspects of critical thinking, and how to apply it. Being able to question
who, what, where, when, why and how is just the beginning. Taking the answers to these questions
and learning how to applying them towards the improvement of business or product is the harder
part. For some change is a hard thing to accept. The problem of implementing a change is often
more human than technical. How to install changes and have the changes accepted is a skill I need
to improve upon.
In management you must have the ability to correctly identify the personality traits of others.
Identifying these traits helps identify the type of management that will be required. Understanding
the tendencies of your staff will help in the management of them. Having a good blend of
personality traits working one project will be more beneficial than having to many of the same
type. The adage To many Chiefs and not enough Indians applies throughout the work place.
Overall, I am seeking knowledge that will help me be a competent manager.
How do you anticipate the program helping you in your current position, and what will be your
ambitions/goals once you complete our program?
The education received from Phoenix University will provide the stepping stones to life long
learning abilities. Many of the leaders in today s market place have forgotten to learn. They need to
remember that just because they did it this way before does not mean it is the way to

The Power and Genius of Alexander Pushkin s The Queen of Spades
In Alexander Pushkin s The Queen of Spades, many aspects of the short story have made for
considerable debate among scholars. Pushkin fills an integral role in Russian literary history, and
there are abundant research sources to use in analyzing and interpreting his texts. Pushkin is often
referred to as the Father of Modern Russian Literature, but until just recently much of the criticism
on Pushkin focused on Pushkin himself as the author, the innovative simplicity in his prose, or the
political relationship between Pushkin and the Russian aristocracy. Pushkin s personal life was
often the subject of public debate among his readers and the Russian aristocracy, ... Show more

Evelyn Bristol reviewed Greenleaf s book and determined the thesis stated that Pushkin s works
were endeavors to define and express himself in segments or fragments in romantic style (Bristol
127). In another review by Caryl Emerson, Greenleaf s argument is defined as a complete
opposite of Bristol s interpretation. From Greenleaf s investigation, Emerson expounds that
Pushkin attempted to portray nothing of himself in his writing for fear of the honor code that
dictated everyday life. It is described as pre psychological age of Russian literature in that Pushkin
did not at all illustrate any characteristics of himself in his writing including personal documents
and correspondence with family and friends. The inverse deductions of Greenleaf s thesis are
hardly sporadic. New scholars are unable to determine the best sources of intellectual research
when the research that is available is contradictory. Neil Cornwell s Pushkin s The Queen of Spades
is another article that has received mixed reviews from audiences. In Victor Terra s review of the
study, he congratulates Cornwell on a commendable analysis. He describes Cornwell s piece as
objective and patient. Terras commends Cornwell for his use of the basic

How Technology Has Changed The World And How Things Are Done
3 D printing is an emerging technology, that if properly done, has the potential to change the
world and how things are done. Although there have been many advancements over the years,
with further research and development this technology can become less expensive, easier to
make, and bring us things like household products and printed pizza. The Oxford dictionary
defines 3 D printing as a process for making a physical object from a three dimensional digital
model, typically by laying down many successive thin layers of a material (Definition of 3D printing
in English).
3 D printing has existed for decades and has morphed from a simplistic technology into a
complex one. It all started in 1984, when Charles Hull came up with the idea of a 3 D printer.
The online book Where are you from? states that, It first started with The Charles Hull s invention
of stereo lithography, which gave engineers and designers the ability to create 3 D models of their
designs by printing them . The printers use lasers and materials like plastics and polymers, that scan
back and forth making objects that were previously designed on a computer and then uploaded onto
the printer.
Now deciding what type of 3 D printer to buy can be the hardest thing. In certain cases, 3D
printers are better bought either fully assembled or self assembled. A lot of places go ahead and
buy a printer that is fully assembled and that can work as soon as they take it out of the box.

The Little Rock Crisis Essay
The Little Rock Crisis
Research Paper Imagine for a moment being put in the president s shoes and having to make a
decision that affects the whole country. Imagine that the decision you made is not very popular
and that you get criticized and scoffed at for it. During the term of each president, there are
many difficult decisions that must be made. Making these types of decisions may be difficult,
but they are necessary to the benefit of the country. President Eisenhower was faced with a very
difficult decision. While facing his decision he wanted to uphold the Constitution and the laws,
but also avoid a difficult confrontation with people who had very high emotions. Eisenhower did
not want to be criticized by those who felt he did not ensure civil rights, as well as those who
believed he had gone too far in asserting federal power over the states. The difficult decision that
Eisenhower faced to send in Federal Troops to Little Rock, Arkansas showed his support for the
Constitution, and for the protection of the people, even though it was not popular and went against
his own personal beliefs.
History
In the South, complications arose over the separation of Negro and white students in schools. In
1953, President Eisenhower had appointed former California Governor Earl Warrento Chief Justice
of the Supreme Court. The next year, the Supreme Court made its historic decision declaring the
separation of racial groups in school unconstitutional (Cannon, 1990, p. 205). The

Fluoridation it is when Fluoride is put into the water system. In this context, it is worth noting that
dental health remains a major issue for much of the New Zealand population, and that economically
and from the equity perspective fluoridation remains the safest and most appropriate approach for
promoting dental public health. Community water fluoridation is a safe and effective way of
preventing tooth decay at a low cost. And fluoride is the top 13th most abundant element created in
the earth. Yet fluoride is not found in its pure form in nature only combined with other elements

The intake of fluoride in excess can contribute to health issue known as fluorosis, which could be
unethical due to adverse effects Severe cases can be caused by exposure to water that is naturally
fluoridated to levels well above the recommended levels, or by exposure to other fluoride sources
such as brick tea or pollution from high fluoride coal. On the other hand, however it can cause
negative effects such as tumour, thyroid damage, bone issues and effects to the mental wellbeing.
Fluoride has been shown to be toxic and affects the brain and kidney when ingested. Rats fed for
one year with 1 ppm fluoride in their water, using either sodium fluoride or aluminium fluoride, had
morphological changes to their kidneys and brains, an increased uptake of aluminium in the brain,
and the formation of beta amyloid deposits which are characteristic of Alzheimer s disease.
Fluoride allows aluminium a heavy metal to cross the blood brain barrier which can therefore cause

The General Behavior Model Is Developed By Ludwig Brenner...
GEBMO or the General Behavior Model was developed by Ludwig Brenner as a way to predict
hazards before they happened. Brenner devised a system of scenarios that could occur with
multiple factors for each element. The system is basically designed on a cause effect relationship.
One thing happens because of another which leads to a result (Haight, 2012). This model was used
to develop an emergency action plan for a small community surrounding a gas station.
The first step to any emergency action plan is to conduct a hazard assessment and the best way
conduct to do that is to conduct a walk through of the facility or area (Haight, 2012). In this
scenario, our facility is a service station with fuel holding tanks and convenience store items
which is located in close proximity to the center of town, a housing development, an elementary
school, playground, baseball field, and wooded area. The nature of the business makes it a hazard,
the location of it makes it a hazard to the community. Using the General Behavior Model, possible
hazards and their reactions, as well as ways to prevent them are discussed.
When working with fuels such as gasoline and diesel, physical hazards to humans are possible.
Gasoline is highly explosive and flammable, while diesel is flammable. The use of GEBMO is to
prevent or reduce the number of fires and explosions. GEBMO is broken down into seven steps.
The first step is to predict a stressing event such as a fire when a tanker is

Stanley Kubrick s The Shining
Although the movie I have chosen to argue as the greatest film of all time to me is not currently

Kubrick is one of the most talented filmmaker s in history. He has made several great movies and
his vision stands out. He is regarded as one of the greatest and most influential directors of all time.
His films are noted for their unique cinematography, attention to detail in realism. Kubrick was also

The Shining pushed the camera s uses even further, Stanley Kubrick made use of the camera to
shoot a scene barely above the floor. The inventor of the Steadicam, Garrett Brown was quoted
saying that One of the most talked about shots in the picture is the eerie tracking sequence
which follows Danny as he pedals at high speed through corridor after corridor on his plastic Big
Wheel tricycle. The soundtrack explodes with noise when the wheel is on wooden flooring and
is abruptly silent as it crosses over carpet. We needed to have the lens just a few inches from the
floor and to travel rapidly just behind or ahead of the bike . There are many examples of
innovative camera shots and the Steadicam was used in the maze scene as well.
Kubrick put so much effort into making this film it s incredible. It was originally supposed to be
shot in 17 weeks but ended up taking 46 weeks. This film to me is one of the best examples of

Cultural Awareness And Characteristics Within The...
Cultural Awareness and characteristics within the Afghanistan culture. There are five major
characteristics that define a culture; they are learned, shared, symbols, integrated, and dynamic.
Culture is learned. It is not biological; we do not inherit it. Much of learning culture is
unconscious. We learn culture from families, peers, institutions, and media. The process of
learning culture is known as enculturation. While all humans have basic biological needs such as
food, sleep, and sex, the way we fulfill those needs varies cross culturally. Culture is shared.
Because we share culture with other members of our group, we are able to act in socially
appropriate ways as well as predict how others will act. Despite the shared nature of culture, that
doesn t mean that culture is homogenous (the same). The multiple cultural worlds that exist in any
society are discussed in detail below. Culture is based on symbols. A symbol is something that
stands for something else. Symbols vary cross culturally and are arbitrary. They only have meaning
when people in a culture agree on their use. Language, money and art are all symbols. Language is
the most important symbolic component of culture. Culture is integrated. This is known as holism,
or the various parts of a culture being interconnected. All aspects of a culture are related to one
another and to truly understand a culture, one must learn about all of its parts, not only a few.
Culture is dynamic. This simply means that cultures

Canada is widely known as the first country in the world to adopt multiculturalism; being supportive
of all ethnicities and races, while encouraging a peaceful community and promoting cultural
education. However, there is a major gap in the country s history that hides one of the most
controversial issues to date the cultural genocide of the Indigenous community. Public information
regarding this topic remains limited and insufficient, providing little insight on the discrimination
and inequality the Indigenous community has faced, and continues to face today. Particularly, the
issue lies in the failure to provide information on Child Welfare and its related causes, including the

Of those, fewer than half about 44 per cent lived with at least one foster parent who identified as
Indigenous. Provinces with a higher proportion of Indigenous children also had more Indigenous
kids in foster care (Yukselir, 2016). The remainder lived in a situation where they were a transracial
adoptee, meaning they were placed in a household with parents that had a different racial or ethnic
group from their own. While transracial adoption usually concludes with positive adjustment
outcomes for adoptees, for Aboriginal transracial adoptees, adoption tends to result in consistently
negative outcomes. Many transracial adoptees of the Sixties Scoop era where Aboriginal children
were apprehended in disproportionate numbers throughout Canada and adopted into non Aboriginal
homes in Canada, United States and overseas, now adults, have contacted Aboriginal child
welfare agencies as they aim to reunite with their birth families. A large proportion of former
adoptees first point of contact is through addiction services and street agencies (Gilchrist, 1995).
Many adoptees are facing identity issues because of being socialized and acculturated into a
middle class white society (Hall, 1995; Gilchrist, 1995; Richard, 1998). For transracial adoptees,
identity issues are exacerbated by the factors that arise in seeking out birth family and cultural
ties (Fournier Crey, 1997; Hall, 2003). According to Bagley (1993), the core of the issue for
adoptees is being reacquainted with the most marginalized and oppressed group within Canadian
society . This, he argues, aggravates the already problematic identity issues that Aboriginal
adoptees experience. Finally, transracial adoption causes poor socio economic factors, as well as
psychological, emotional, and mental factors that confront the adoptee as an adult, as well as

Class Conflict In Grapes Of Wrath

In the Midst of Hopelessness
John Steinbeck s novel, The Grapes of Wrath, takes place during the Great Depression, a time
when troubled and distressed American men and women lived; a time of poverty and an economic
crisis. When change is thought upon, it is to be thought of new life and new experiences. The Great
Depression is the kind of change that replaces a part of American living with Somepin s
happening. I went up an I looked, an the houses is all empty, an the lan is empty, an this whole
country is empty ( Steinbeck 94). In his work, Steinbeck presents the hardships that Americans had
to go through by being mindful of particular aspects which makes the reader understand the
characters distress. For example, the landscape of the farm lands. Even though the land has its
brutality, it grows to be the scenery for humans to be able to recognize and consider their troubles
about work and life in general. With these concerns, there are differences between the people who
are accustomed to the landscape and admire it, and those who do not agree with it. In the novel,
Steinbeck uses attributes of class conflict and injustice as a way of presenting and socially
commenting that the Great Depression brought attention to more problems beyond the idea of
poverty.
The class conflict between the poverty stricken migrants and the settled, assured business occupied
Californians make for a powerful analysis

he made his career but at the same time ruined it because everyone knew who he was and he was

the actor, he was tied to the identity Luke Skywalker for a few different reasons such as facial

weight of the mice throughout the first 42 days of their development to determine their health. In
mice that have had their SMN1 gene returned to normal by CRISPR Cas9, their weight should
follow the blue trend indicated in Figure 6. However, if the mice have a significantly lower body
weight, shown in orange in Figure 6, it may suggest the mice still have a form of SMA.

setting up self determination for the black comunity. Harris touches on Classical Black Nationalism
and Contemporary Black Nationalism. Traditional Black Nationalism is essentially as slave

instructive, religious, social and also progressive patriotism. The Black Panther Party, a standout
amongst the most well known progressive patriot associations, held the conviction that the

Twelfth Night Gender Roles
Throughout the course of the quarter we read various novels in which the issue of gender arose
significantly, whether it was opposing or accepting gender normalities, cross dressing, or a
patriarchal society, the topic was present. In William Shakespeare s, Twelfth Night, gender is
presented in two ways: the first way is Viola, who cross dresses as a man to hide her identity and
wealth and the second, is when the women in the play go after what they desire, even if it goes
against the normalities of gender in the Elizabethan Era. In Frances Burney s, Evelina, women give
into the expected subordination towards men as it expected in the novel s patriarchal society. But
in Virginia Woolf s novel, To the Lighthouse, we see a shift in that Lily

But why should I allow myself to be humbled by a man who can suffer his reason to be thus

hearsay? (268) Evelina argues to Mr. Villars that women should not be flattered at the fact that
men come up to them and initiate the conversation, giving into the subjectivity of submission.
Mrs. Selwyn s actions are frowned upon because her directness and savviness is seen as
masculine. And as usual, giving into the patriarchal society she was brought up in Evelina turned
to Mr. Villars for advice, as she cannot handle most social situations as women were not taught to

Wolfpacket Job Application Essay
I would like to be Editor in Chief because frankly, I ve been wanting this since freshman year.
Over the past three years, I have become really passionate about the Wolfpacket. I aim to increase
my commitment to the paper, and by working in this higher position I would put even more time
and energy towards the paper.
I think I am the most qualified for the position because I am a good leader. I work well with
others, have a good relationship with the editors and writers on staff, and do not shy away from
making important decisions, such as whether to run a controversial article or not. I am an efficient
worker; I always have my pages done before Late Night because I try use my time in class wisely.
Finally, I am creative. This past year, I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would be a big leap from how we have done things in the past, but I believe it is a necessary
step. When we come out only once a month, most of the ideas that were relevant at the time of
story ideas are stale and old news by the date of distribution. By coming out more often, we
would be able to avoid this problem. For this idea to work, we would shorten the length of each
individual Wolfpacket issue to 6 pages instead of 12 (i.e. A E being one page instead of two.)
We then divide editors into teams and then alternate section responsibilities every issue, like a
block schedule of sorts. To illustrate what I m saying, let s apply this bimonthly publication
practice to the Opinions section. In this example, I would create the Opinions page for the first
publication of the month, and Ohana would create it for the second. Editors and reporters would
both have the same amount of work per month as we do with the current press schedule as there
would be the same total pages made and articles written. By dividing up monthly 12 page issues
into bimonthly 6 page ones, the Wolfpacket would be able to address more pressing and current
issues within a reasonable time frame without demanding much extra work from the

Metaphors In Ralph Ellison s Invisible Man
Metaphors in Invisible Man
Ellison uses many examples of metaphors in his novel to convey invisibility, especially with
references to music, imagery, and the use of a nameless character. With literature that challenged
the accepted ideals surrounding that time period, Ellison expresses his thoughts by comparing an
invisible man to various relatable subjects in life. When the narrator firsts starts on his journey and
gets constantly bumped, he states that You constantly wonder whether you aren t simply a phantom
in other people s minds (4). It draws a connection between the unknown emotions of an invisible
man and the empty, invisible image of a phantom. Ellison employs a common idea to convey to the

He portrays his vulnerability by comparing himself to a bird plucked of his feathers and ridiculed
for his devoted admiration of Bledsoe. According to Leon Forrest in The Critical Response to
Ralph Ellison edited by Robert J. Butler, the song mocks and thereby instructs him that each person
must constantly die, or shed the skin of his innocence, in order to grow (64). The narrator grows by
reflecting upon himself and throughout the novel, his character develops to understand his
invisibility. He claims Perhaps you ll think it is strange that an invisible man should need light,
desire light, love light. But maybe it is exactly because I am invisible. Light confirms my reality,
gives birth to my form (6). The light represents his own acknowledgement and self respect for his
own identity, that allows him to discard his desire for approval from society. The narrator
represents the many African Americans that learned to find their individual identity and black
identity. Most importantly, Ellison s use of a nameless character contributed greatly to his literary
work. The story is told by the narrator, who s name is never revealed throughout the book and
represents a metaphoric invisibility. Ellison s decision to withhold the main character s name
maintains the idea of an ever changing

Health Benefits Of Daily Physical Activity
Rationale 1.Purpose: The general purpose for this presentation is to inform the audience about
health benefits of daily physical activity. The audience will be able to list two benefits of daily
physical activity after this presentation. The central idea is that physical activity should be
implemented daily to promote a happy and healthy life. 2.Audience: The ideal audience for my
presentation would be school age children and teens; although, the topic of this presentation
would be appropriate for a broader audience. Ideally, school age children and teens would benefit
more from this presentation because the sooner they are informed on the subject the better.
3.Significance: It is important for students to know how to live a healthy and happy lifestyle.
Children at this age are becoming more self aware, self conscience, and dealing with body image
issues. They have more opportunities to participate in daily physical activities, such as sports. If
they are informed now of the benefits of daily physical activities, they may want to change their
lifestyle and have a chance to live even longer. Introduction: 1.Attention getting opening: How

Silica aerogels are transparent, highly porous substances consisting of tiny spheres of bonded
silicon and oxygen atoms joined into long strands. The strands are separated by innumerable air
spaces. Although they are solids, aerogels have remarkably low densities, appearing almost like
frozen wisps of smoke. They are one of the lightest known solids. They also have the highest
thermal resistance of any solid ever tested and thus could have important applications as high

Alcohol Summary
* Executive Summary
In 2001 spirit makers ended a long standing volunteer policy against aggressive alcohol advertising
(Steiner and Steiner, 2009). Since that time, there has been an unprecedented shift toward increased
alcoholic advertisements in an effort to increase market share and raise profits. This shift brings
into light the challenge alcoholic companies face in balancing their fiduciary duties to their
shareholders and their corporate and social responsibility to society.
This report focuses on the issues surrounding Anheuser Busch s Spykes beverage and the corporate
and social issues similarly faced by other alcoholic beverage companies.

From society s perspective, any activities conducted by the alcohol beverage companies to remove
alcohol related problems like violence, decreased morality and intoxication related problems like
drinking driving are seldom advertised and marketed. In this sense, society is only seeing
advertisements related to increased consumption leading to increased profits. Accordingly alcohol
industries fail to fulfill their ethical duty to be informative and truthful in their advertising efforts.
At present, alcohol beverage companies create a brand image by sponsoring sports and cultural
activities that attract drinkers, first starting as a social drinker and then becoming regular drinkers
(Munro amp; De Wever, 2008). The current alcohol advertising regulatory system in Australia
should aim to minimize exposure and appeal to children (VAADA, 2010).
In Australia, advertising activities are regulated by legislation and a code of practice such as the
Advertiser Code of Ethics and Alcoholic Beverages Advertising Code (ABAC). This code is
based on a voluntary system of self regulation which is funded and administered by the alcohol
beverage companies. Currently there are no penalties for non compliance (Jones, Hall amp; Munro
2008). Additionally, the organisation is partly funded by alcoholic beverage companies. This
presents a conflict of interest as in most instances, their fiduciary duties are act in the best interests

Write An Essay On Cataracts In Children
Cataracts are an eye condition that results in the clouding of the lens that distorts or makes one
vision hazy. It becomes a visual impairment when it interferes a with the normal functioning of
daily task and activities. Cataracts can be unilateral meaning it affects one eye or bilateral(both
eyes). This eye condition is seen in both children and adults. The age of onset can be congenital( at
birth) or acquired later in life. The location, size, and thickness of the cataractcan determine the
significance of vision loss. Although there are four general types of cataracts, there are two that can
progress to total blindness. Early intervention is key in a better vision prognosis. O Neill (1980)

Self-Acquaintance And John Winthrop s City Upon A Hill
For our second week of school, we learned about the different Puritan ideals and how they
influenced our society today. In this essay, I will discuss one of those many ideals and provide
evidence to defend that it is, indeed, a Puritanical ideal that can be found in many early colonial
pieces of literature, such as Self Acquaintance by William Cooper, Here followes some verses
upon the burning of our house, July 10th, 1666 by Anne Bradstreet, and John Winthrop s City
Upon A Hill, 1630. Loyalty to God, or faith, is a Puritanideal.
Faith is a Puritan ideal as shown in many early colonial works. In Self Acquaintance by William
Cooper, the speaker begins to question his faith before stating, Oh, cleanse me in a Saviour s
blood,/Transform me by thy pow r,/And make me thy beloved abode,/And let me rove no more.
As he begins to wander from his faith, he cries out to God, his Saviour, to cleanse him from the sin
of doubting his faith. In Anne Bradstreet s Here followes some verses upon the burning of our

A Study Into Their Feeding Preferences
The importance of bees to our agriculture merits a study into their feeding preferences. Bees
pollinate a large proportion of crops and without them there would be a rapid decline in crop
production. The connection between bee feeding preferences and flower pigmentation is examined
using Viola cornuta. Three color variations were used including dark violet, light violet, and white
flowers. Each variation was observed for ten minutes in one minute intervals and this was repeated
in ten different trials starting at 1:00PM at Tallahassee Nursery. The trend resulting from the data
showed strongest preference for the most pigmented dark violet flowers and weakest preference for
the least pigmented white flowers. There are many factors to take... Show more content on

On the spectral range chart for bees a large portion of their visual range is shades of blue and purple
(Riddle, 2016).
The aim of this study is to observe how color affects the feeding preferences of bees in the wild.
The spectral range of the bee suggests that bees will prefer violet colored flowers and more
specifically highly pigmented violet flowers. Due to this it is suspected that bees will prefer to
feed on dark purple colored Violas cornuta over the light purple and white varieties of Viola
cornuta. It could also occur that bees will feed equally across dark purple, light purple, and white
Viola cornuta color groups.
Methods Three pigment levels of Violas cornuta including dark violet, light violet, and white flower
variations were used. In an outdoor nursery setting the plants were studied in five by five rows of
plants and the plots were located next to each other. A total of thirty minutes was spent observing
the plants at the set time of 1:00PM. Each pigment variation was observed for ten minutes in one
minute intervals. The number of bees that land and feed on the particular variant being observed
was recorded. The mean number of bees on each pigment variation after ten observation periods
was calculated. A one tail ANOVA and a post hoc Tukey test was used to analyze the data.
Results The total number of bees present on a color variation (dark violet, light violet, and white)
observed across ten trials is shown in Figure 1. The

Results: The artists included painters, sculptors, dancers, etc. There were also quite a few people
there on behalf of organizations, like one against animal cruelty and one to help sea turtles. The
artists seemed to be more diverse than the walkers, but only by a little bit. The walkers looked

places. I also saw this in the demographic differences, since, like I mentioned in the observation

some with a few other friends. So those who looked alternative seemed most at home; others
were there in passing, observing the culture, enjoying the music and perusing the art. As someone

Cons Of Social Media In The Classroom Analysis
In the article, Pros and Cons of Social Media in the Classroom, writer Karen Lederer informs
readers about the continuous debate on the role social media should play in education. She states
using social media as an educational tool enriches the learning experience in schools by allowing a
new way for students and teachers to interact. Social media like facebook allow users to dialog,
exchange ideas, and find answers to questions. Lederer lists the cons of having social media in
classes, which are it enhances student engagement, improves communication among students and
teachers, and prepares students for successful employment. Due to students being fluent in the web
and social networking, teachers can create an environment online that students can be comfortable
in. Also, it would engage and create opportunities for students who are intimidated or shy by
allowing them to surface ideas on the web instead of raising their hands, which Lederer... Show

Why Proctoring Is Important
Proctoring is the process of watching someone taking an examination, and enforces discipline in
a school. An example is when students take their SAT s the adults there are acting as proctors.
They are there to make sure no is cheating, but also them to assist students in time keeping for the
finals. Uopeople uses proctoring for a very simple reason, honesty is not always guaranteed.
When a test is taken in a classroom there are plenty of people watching for cheating. When a test
is taken at home you need someone to do this for the school. One item that proctoring is there to

Television is especially influential on the children of today. Thirty years ago, not every home had

The Between Dance And The Self
Within Fish Tank, performance serves a multitude of functions. For one, characters in the film
define themselves in relation to dance, and performance as a whole is presented as an outlet and a
means to attain freedom. Yet, the relationship between dance and the self is also antithetical as,
whilst individual characters escape social definition through the act of dance, the act itself defines
them. This can be seen especially in relation to the female identity that is imposed with sexual
objectivity through dance. However, dance also operates in a figurative sense, Mia, dances with the
idea of reinvention, escape and of learning the steps to life. Overall, dance is presented as being

However, Mia s lack of talent for dancing establishes a sense of futility regarding her escape.
Nonetheless, Mia s desire to dance reflects her broad desire to express herself creatively.
Mia s desire to escape social constraint is further revealed through her attempt to connect to the
Black American culture. Mia s dance moves and music choices create an interesting dynamic to
her self expression, for example, Mia s burgeoning connection to Connor is revealed through her
choice to dance to his favourite song. Further, as Mia dances in front of the television in her
kitchen, she does so to an African American pop song, featuring street dance (0.13.19). Mia s
copying of the dance moves is emblematic of her attempt to re construct and re define her identity.
The..cultural..messages..that..she..receives from the television, dance and music therefore, are
presented as being key in Mia s process of self discovery. Connor s comment You dance like a
black is intended as a compliment, yet reveals further Mia s attempt to construct her identity out of
cultural fragments. Broadly, through dance, and performing aspects of African American street
culture, Mia s powerful desire to escape societal constraint is made apparent. Mia s attempt to
connect with a world different to her own, is emblematic of Mia s attempt to seek freedom.
Whilst allowing Mia to escape, dance allows Mia to reconcile the conflict within her life,
particularly in her family

The Crash Of The United States
On December 13th, 1982 one of the most memorable plane accidents happened on Fourteenth
Street bridge which happens to cross over the Potomac River. On a cold and snowy day just
after 4 o clock a 737 Boeing airplane crashed into the river near Washington D.C. The flight was
supposed to return to Ft. Lauderdale, however, snow in Washington briefly closed the airport.
When the airport reopened, the plane was de iced, but still had difficulties once it got into the air
due to the ice. Seventy four passengers and five crew members were on the plane and
unfortunately seventy three of them died. When the plane crashes, it struck multiple vehicles and
then hit a section of the bridge. On the bridge four people were killed and another four people
were injured. The main reason so many perished were due to the extreme cold of the water, the
snow stormconditions and the heavy traffic, which prevented firefighters from reaching the site of
the crash, and the failures of Air Florida s flight crew. The water temperature in the Potomac at the
time was around thirty four degrees Fahrenheit. According to Amanda Ripley s The Unthinkable ,
humans have a low tolerance for extreme temperatures and cannot spend long periods of time in
those ranges. After a certain amount of time heart rates start to lower, blood vessels constrict which
causes pain. Blood would begin to abandon extremities to frostbite, choosing to save your heart
instead . All three of these conditions lead to a higher death

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Limited Liability Companies
Limited liability companies
Generally, the liability of company s members is limited. Where the company is limited by
shares, the liability of a member is limited to the extent of the nominal value of the shares held
by him in so far as this has not already been paid by him. If the shares are fully paid up in such
case the liability of members of company is nothing. However, in case of company limited by
guarantee each member is liable to contribute a specified amount to the assets of the company in
the event of its being wound up. In J.H. Rayner (Mincing Lane) Ltd. v. Deptt. Of Trade and
Industry, the House of Lords observed that where the subscribers, opted to register the company
with limited liability, the members liability becomes limited. ... Show more content on

If, in the span of the winding up of an organization, it appears to the court that any business of the
corporation has been carried with intention to defraud creditors of the organization or creditors of
any other individual, or for any deceitful purpose, anybody involved in the business can be called
upon to contribute to the debts of the organization. In Morphitis v Bernasconi and others the court

carrying on a business that the business was being done with goal to defraud creditors.
S 214 of the insolvency act 1986
The section says that at some time before the organization entered insolvent liquidation there will
have been a point where the directors knew it was wrong and the corporation could not trade out of
the circumstance. The sensible director would stop at this point continue trading. If he still

Essay On Physical Education
The Margaret Eaton School (MES) played an important role in Canadian physical education
during a period of time known as the golden age for women s sport in Canada. This essay will
discuss how Margaret Eaton School came to be and why it is considered one of the leading
schools in the development of women s physical educationin Canada in 1901, with the help of
Emma Scott Raff and Margaret Eaton. The school started out as The School of Expression focusing
on theatre and physical culture, and later (1925) shifted its views to focus solely on physical
education. I plan to argue that from 1901 to 1942, the Margaret Eaton School played an innovative
role in Canada in the development of physical education by offering women a comprehensive...

through in order to concentrate solely on physical education was discussed. MES held a leading
role in the development of physical education in Canada with the help of influential leaders such as

MES played an innovative role in the development of physical education by offering women both a
teacher and counsellor training programs, creating the CPEA with the help of Mary Hamilton, the

High Schools And Public Schools
Growing up in a district area is much more different in many ways than growing up in a big city,
where people have more guidance and facilities in almost every part of life than people living in
any small town or district. The part of the country where I grew up had separated schools for girl
and boys. Co educationwas not common. The population was between 0.2 million to 0.3 million.
There were few elementary public schools and public high schools. Peoples education was
really effected by the social culture, and by a lot of authorities negligence of the law. A part of
the district area where I grew up is called Hangu. It was a man dominated society. It was the
notion that an education is more important for a man than a woman. It was the traditional belief
that education is more important for men then a women because men need to have an education
to get a job, to establish his own business, to understand and deal with the people, and to take
care of his family. It was a dominated traditional belief that women should have a direct in social
life and be in charge of the house, doing chores, and raising up children. However, it was also the
notion that women should have an enough education to read and write and understand what is
right and wrong, so that they help and involve in their children education and produce better, well

The Consequences of the Age of Exploration Essay
The Age of Discovery, also known by others as the Age of Exploration , was a period starting in
the 15th century, lasting for over 200 years, and was conceived by the pioneer Portuguese and
Spanish explorers in their search for precious metals and very costly spices, such as saffron and
cardamom. Although the expansion of knowledge about the world was a good intention, it
ultimately turned out be have extremely severe consequences, which its effects are still being
suffered to this day! First of all, Why were there consequences? . During the Age of Exploration,
there were corrupt governments and inside them, corrupt officials. These greedy, nefarious
bureaucrats were responsible for the driving force behind searching not only for... Show more

Why were spices used and valued so highly? First recorded around 1200 B.C. with the Egyptians,
spices were used for a variety of purposes. The Romans and the Jews used spices for burial,
which helped preserve corpses. Others, like the early Anglo Saxons in modern Great Britain,
used them to cover the bad taste of spoiled food. With this extreme demand, the number of spice
traders and sailors grew exponentially over time. Beginning in 1419, Prince Henry of Portugal,
also known as The Navigator , began financing sailors, mapmakers, and shipbuilders that were
devoted to finding new lands. These men were from different nationalities, ranging from Italy,
Arabia, and Germany. Their primary focus was to sail around Africa, and land in India.
Although at first they failed to go to India, they were successful in sailing down the west African
coast, which was the beginning for one of the worse trades in the history of mankind, which is
slavery. In 1444, the first 200 slaves from Africa were shipped to Portugal. Later, in 1488,
Portuguese captain Bartholemeu Dias sailed around Africa, passing by the Cape of Good Hope.
One decade later, Vasco de Gama went farther than Dias and came back to Portugal loaded with
spices from the East. Then the Spanish came along. Unlike Portugal, that based its empire off of
naval capabilities, the Spanish based theirs off conquest and colonization. There were many Spanish
conquistadors, but the most famous of them all is Christopher

The Everyday Is Important For Sociological Research
This essay will argue that the setting of the everyday is important for sociological research.
Through its investigation it becomes evident how various types of social structures and institutions
have an ability to influence behaviours and emotions of individuals. The sociological research of
the everyday covers a diverse range of theories, as individuals live and conduct themselves by
various standards, contexts, and structures (Heller, 1984, p. 3), and it is this kind of interaction that
is taken for granted and thus in need of exploration. It is through the examination of the
socialisation occurring in the everyday between individuals, institutions, rules, and culture, that it
becomes evident that the obvious is often not so obvious (Newman et al., 2013). This essay utilises
the sociological imagination to express this importance of the everyday through the exploration of
three aspects of socialisation, these being employment, mass media, and social deviance. It is these
kinds of socialisations occurring in the everyday that illustrate how social structures and institutions
influence behaviours and emotions, and hence also prove the everyday as an important setting for
sociological research.
Have you ever wondered whether your thoughts and feelings are your own?
(Gavin Smith)
It is through the sociological research of the events and happenings in the everyday that this
important question can be and is addressed quite repetitively. First, however in order to

Essay on Kinghthood
Knighthood
Knighthood and chivalry. The terms are often confused, and often pointlessly distinguished. The
term knighthood comes from the English word knight (from Old English, servant or boy) while
chivalry comes from the French chevalerie, from chevalier or knight. In modern English, chivalry
means the ideals, virtues, or characteristics of knights. But in actuality, the phrases quot;orders of
chivalry quot; and quot;orders of knighthood quot; are essentially synonymous.
Succinctly, a knight was a professional soldier. Professional armies had replaced the old citizens
armies of the distant past. This trend was reinforced by the appearance in the 8th century of the
stirrup, which made mounted men much more powerful and turned ... Show more content on

On the contrary to this not so balanced father, son relationship, heredity enters the knightly class in
the 13th century. The son of a knight is automatically a squire, thus making him eligible for
knighthood on the basis of his ancestry.
Men who were free provided military service, either personally or (if they were rich enough)
using others services. Thus, a man who held his estate in knight s fee owed service as a knight to
his lord. A more sizeable vassal, when called by his liege, would summon his knights and form a
contingent in his liege s army.
In the late 13th century, a decision of the Parliament in Paris forbade the count of Artois from
making unfree men into knights without the king s consent; interesting to note, the two men who
had been so knighted were allowed to remain knights subject to the payment of a fine. Knighthood
did not become a hereditary class in England, and instead the knightly class (those eligible to be
knights) became the nucleus of the gentry.
As a military institution, knighthood was on the wane from the late 13th century on. The end of
feudal society meant that sovereigns gained a monopoly on war making, and the old form of
military service owed to one s immediate lord became obsolete. Kings still summoned their knights
for wars, but increasingly they turned to other sources of manpower, namely mercenaries whose
use became common in the 14th

The Automotive Sector in Italy
The Automotive Sector in Italy I.Introduction: Sector Analysis Part A: Out of all the countries I
have visited in my life, Italy is definitely my favorite. Italy is located in southern Europe
bordering countries such as France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia. With a population of over
sixty million people, Italy has a capitalist market with high GDP per capita and a well developed
infrastructure. According to the International Monetary Fund, it is the eighth largest economy in
the entire world and third biggest in Europe. After analyzing the National Institute of Statistics
(ISTAT), the GDP of Italy expanded by 10% in the fourth quarter of last year. From 1960 2013,
the GDP growth rate averaged 63% per year. Their main industrial base is driven by producing
high quality consumer goods. The main sectors in Italy are tourism, iron and steel, machinery,
textiles, food processing, shoes, clothing (fashion), and one of the biggest being the auto sector.
Italy joined the European Union in 1952, and between then and now, their country has gone through
growth rates well above 4%. However, after 1992, Italy s expansion rates fell below the European
Union average. Ever since then, Italy s government has been trying to revive their economy by
increasing the amount of public spending. In result, the public debt and budget deficit have attained
unsustainable levels and the country has recently gone through a tough recession. Now in 2014,
Italy has actually returned to growth after

Blindspot Stereotypes
These seemingly disparate demographics and, subsequently different portions of NBC s flow are
not as disjointed as they seem at first glance. There remain thematic threads and subtextual audience
assumptions that create coherence and flow as it now functions. The imagery of the jeopardy
opening, in which the camera soars over CGI oceans, islands and San Franciscan monuments,
evokes a theme of travel and adventure that is sustained throughout the portion of the schedule
analyzed, which actually builds off of this same theme created by the slow preceding it, Wheel of
Fortune which was giving out exotic trips as prizes. This sense of adventure establishes a slightly
more ambiguous demographic which can include younger viewers who, for a half hour, live
vicariously through the contestants, getting the same rush when answering questions as the
contestants do. This sense of adventure is upheld in the advertisements as well. The Taltz ad (V)
depicts happy consumers enjoying themselves in the great outdoors under blue skies, and the
various car commercials depict their vehicles offroading in the mountains of a wintry climate, (VI,
XIX, XXIX, XXXI). This pandering to those who would consider themselves adventurous continues
into the next program, Blindspot, and its advertisements. The plot of Blindspot provides a large
portion of the feeling of adventure... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

At times, should the applicant have sufficient years of equivalent experience and be known by the group hiring, the requirement can be waived. With the constant change in company policies, the equivalency option may be removed. Then what am I going to do? The problem of implementing a change is often more human than technical. How to install changes and have the changes accepted is a skill I need to improve upon. • 4. The Power and Genius of Alexander Pushkin’s The Queen of... The Power and Genius of Alexander Pushkin s The Queen of Spades In Alexander Pushkin s The Queen of Spades, many aspects of the short story have made for considerable debate among scholars. Pushkin fills an integral role in Russian literary history, and there are abundant research sources to use in analyzing and interpreting his texts. Pushkin is often referred to as the Father of Modern Russian Literature, but until just recently much of the criticism on Pushkin focused on Pushkin himself as the author, the innovative simplicity in his prose, or the political relationship between Pushkin and the Russian aristocracy. Pushkin s personal life was often the subject of public debate among his readers and the Russian aristocracy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Evelyn Bristol reviewed Greenleaf s book and determined the thesis stated that Pushkin s works were endeavors to define and express himself in segments or fragments in romantic style (Bristol 127). In another review by Caryl Emerson, Greenleaf s argument is defined as a complete opposite of Bristol s interpretation. From Greenleaf s investigation, Emerson expounds that Pushkin attempted to portray nothing of himself in his writing for fear of the honor code that dictated everyday life. It is described as pre psychological age of Russian literature in that Pushkin did not at all illustrate any characteristics of himself in his writing including personal documents and correspondence with family and friends. The inverse deductions of Greenleaf s thesis are hardly sporadic. New scholars are unable to determine the best sources of intellectual research when the research that is available is contradictory. Neil Cornwell s Pushkin s The Queen of Spades is another article that has received mixed reviews from audiences. In Victor Terra s review of the study, he congratulates Cornwell on a commendable analysis. He describes Cornwell s piece as objective and patient. • 6. How Technology Has Changed The World And How Things Are Done 3 D printing is an emerging technology, that if properly done, has the potential to change the world and how things are done. Although there have been many advancements over the years, with further research and development this technology can become less expensive, easier to make, and bring us things like household products and printed pizza. The Oxford dictionary defines 3 D printing as a process for making a physical object from a three dimensional digital model, typically by laying down many successive thin layers of a material (Definition of 3D printing in English). 3 D printing has existed for decades and has morphed from a simplistic technology into a complex one. It all started in 1984, when Charles Hull came up with the idea of a 3 D printer. The online book Where are you from? states that, It first started with The Charles Hull s invention of stereo lithography, which gave engineers and designers the ability to create 3 D models of their designs by printing them . The printers use lasers and materials like plastics and polymers, that scan back and forth making objects that were previously designed on a computer and then uploaded onto the printer. Now deciding what type of 3 D printer to buy can be the hardest thing. In certain cases, 3D printers are better bought either fully assembled or self assembled. A lot of places go ahead and buy a printer that is fully assembled and that can work as soon as they take it out of the box. Although some people feel that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Little Rock Crisis Essay The Little Rock Crisis Research Paper Imagine for a moment being put in the president s shoes and having to make a decision that affects the whole country. Imagine that the decision you made is not very popular and that you get criticized and scoffed at for it. During the term of each president, there are many difficult decisions that must be made. Making these types of decisions may be difficult, but they are necessary to the benefit of the country. President Eisenhower was faced with a very difficult decision. While facing his decision he wanted to uphold the Constitution and the laws, but also avoid a difficult confrontation with people who had very high emotions. Eisenhower did not want to be criticized by those who felt he did not ensure civil rights, as well as those who believed he had gone too far in asserting federal power over the states. The difficult decision that Eisenhower faced to send in Federal Troops to Little Rock, Arkansas showed his support for the Constitution, and for the protection of the people, even though it was not popular and went against his own personal beliefs. History In the South, complications arose over the separation of Negro and white students in schools. In 1953, President Eisenhower had appointed former California Governor Earl Warrento Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. The next year, the Supreme Court made its historic decision declaring the separation of racial groups in school unconstitutional (Cannon, 1990, p. 205). The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The General Behavior Model Is Developed By Ludwig Brenner... GEBMO or the General Behavior Model was developed by Ludwig Brenner as a way to predict hazards before they happened. Brenner devised a system of scenarios that could occur with multiple factors for each element. The system is basically designed on a cause effect relationship. One thing happens because of another which leads to a result (Haight, 2012). This model was used to develop an emergency action plan for a small community surrounding a gas station. The first step to any emergency action plan is to conduct a hazard assessment and the best way conduct to do that is to conduct a walk through of the facility or area (Haight, 2012). In this scenario, our facility is a service station with fuel holding tanks and convenience store items which is located in close proximity to the center of town, a housing development, an elementary school, playground, baseball field, and wooded area. The nature of the business makes it a hazard, the location of it makes it a hazard to the community. Using the General Behavior Model, possible hazards and their reactions, as well as ways to prevent them are discussed. When working with fuels such as gasoline and diesel, physical hazards to humans are possible. Gasoline is highly explosive and flammable, while diesel is flammable. The use of GEBMO is to prevent or reduce the number of fires and explosions. GEBMO is broken down into seven steps. The first step is to predict a stressing event such as a fire when a tanker is ... • 13. Cultural Awareness And Characteristics Within The... Cultural Awareness and characteristics within the Afghanistan culture. There are five major characteristics that define a culture; they are learned, shared, symbols, integrated, and dynamic. Culture is learned. It is not biological; we do not inherit it. Much of learning culture is unconscious. We learn culture from families, peers, institutions, and media. The process of learning culture is known as enculturation. While all humans have basic biological needs such as food, sleep, and sex, the way we fulfill those needs varies cross culturally. Culture is shared. Because we share culture with other members of our group, we are able to act in socially appropriate ways as well as predict how others will act. Despite the shared nature of culture, that doesn t mean that culture is homogenous (the same). The multiple cultural worlds that exist in any society are discussed in detail below. Culture is based on symbols. A symbol is something that stands for something else. Symbols vary cross culturally and are arbitrary. They only have meaning when people in a culture agree on their use. Language, money and art are all symbols. Language is the most important symbolic component of culture. Culture is integrated. This is known as holism, or the various parts of a culture being interconnected. All aspects of a culture are related to one another and to truly understand a culture, one must learn about all of its parts, not only a few. Culture is dynamic. This simply means that cultures ... While transracial adoption usually concludes with positive adjustment outcomes for adoptees, for Aboriginal transracial adoptees, adoption tends to result in consistently negative outcomes. Many transracial adoptees of the Sixties Scoop era where Aboriginal children were apprehended in disproportionate numbers throughout Canada and adopted into non Aboriginal homes in Canada, United States and overseas, now adults, have contacted Aboriginal child welfare agencies as they aim to reunite with their birth families. Class Conflict In Grapes Of Wrath Kelsie Kimbrough Kleyn AP English Literature/ Period 4 August 2017 In the Midst of Hopelessness John Steinbeck s novel, The Grapes of Wrath, takes place during the Great Depression, a time when troubled and distressed American men and women lived; a time of poverty and an economic crisis. When change is thought upon, it is to be thought of new life and new experiences. The Great Depression is the kind of change that replaces a part of American living with Somepin s happening. I went up an I looked, an the houses is all empty, an the lan is empty, an this whole country is empty ( Steinbeck 94). In his work, Steinbeck presents the hardships that Americans had to go through by being mindful of particular aspects which makes the reader understand the characters distress. For example, the landscape of the farm lands. Even though the land has its brutality, it grows to be the scenery for humans to be able to recognize and consider their troubles about work and life in general. With these concerns, there are differences between the people who are accustomed to the landscape and admire it, and those who do not agree with it. In the novel, Steinbeck uses attributes of class conflict and injustice as a way of presenting and socially commenting that the Great Depression brought attention to more problems beyond the idea of poverty. The class conflict between the poverty stricken migrants and the settled, assured business occupied Californians make for a powerful analysis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yet, the relationship between dance and the self is also antithetical as, whilst individual characters escape social definition through the act of dance, the act itself defines them. This can be seen especially in relation to the female identity that is imposed with sexual objectivity through dance. However, dance also operates in a figurative sense, Mia, dances with the idea of reinvention, escape and of learning the steps to life. Mia s dance moves and music choices create an interesting dynamic to her self expression, for example, Mia s burgeoning connection to Connor is revealed through her choice to dance to his favourite song. Further, as Mia dances in front of the television in her kitchen, she does so to an African American pop song, featuring street dance (0.13.19). Mia s copying of the dance moves is emblematic of her attempt to re construct and re define her identity. The..cultural..messages..that..she..receives from the television, dance and music therefore, are presented as being key in Mia s process of self discovery. Connor s comment You dance like a black is intended as a compliment, yet reveals further Mia s attempt to construct her identity out of cultural fragments. Broadly, through dance, and performing aspects of African American street culture, Mia s powerful desire to escape societal constraint is made apparent. On a cold and snowy day just after 4 o clock a 737 Boeing airplane crashed into the river near Washington D.C. The flight was supposed to return to Ft. Lauderdale, however, snow in Washington briefly closed the airport. When the airport reopened, the plane was de iced, but still had difficulties once it got into the air due to the ice. Seventy four passengers and five crew members were on the plane and unfortunately seventy three of them died. When the plane crashes, it struck multiple vehicles and then hit a section of the bridge. On the bridge four people were killed and another four people were injured. The main reason so many perished were due to the extreme cold of the water, the snow stormconditions and the heavy traffic, which prevented firefighters from reaching the site of the crash, and the failures of Air Florida s flight crew. The water temperature in the Potomac at the time was around thirty four degrees Fahrenheit. According to Amanda Ripley s The Unthinkable , humans have a low tolerance for extreme temperatures and cannot spend long periods of time in those ranges. First recorded around 1200 B.C. with the Egyptians, spices were used for a variety of purposes. The Romans and the Jews used spices for burial, which helped preserve corpses. Others, like the early Anglo Saxons in modern Great Britain, used them to cover the bad taste of spoiled food. With this extreme demand, the number of spice traders and sailors grew exponentially over time. Beginning in 1419, Prince Henry of Portugal, also known as The Navigator , began financing sailors, mapmakers, and shipbuilders that were devoted to finding new lands. These men were from different nationalities, ranging from Italy, Arabia, and Germany. Their primary focus was to sail around Africa, and land in India. • 46. The Everyday Is Important For Sociological Research This essay will argue that the setting of the everyday is important for sociological research. Through its investigation it becomes evident how various types of social structures and institutions have an ability to influence behaviours and emotions of individuals. The sociological research of the everyday covers a diverse range of theories, as individuals live and conduct themselves by various standards, contexts, and structures (Heller, 1984, p. 3), and it is this kind of interaction that is taken for granted and thus in need of exploration. It is through the examination of the socialisation occurring in the everyday between individuals, institutions, rules, and culture, that it becomes evident that the obvious is often not so obvious (Newman et al., 2013). This essay utilises the sociological imagination to express this importance of the everyday through the exploration of three aspects of socialisation, these being employment, mass media, and social deviance. It is these kinds of socialisations occurring in the everyday that illustrate how social structures and institutions influence behaviours and emotions, and hence also prove the everyday as an important setting for sociological research. Have you ever wondered whether your thoughts and feelings are your own? • 48. Essay on Kinghthood Knighthood Knighthood and chivalry. The terms are often confused, and often pointlessly distinguished. The term knighthood comes from the English word knight (from Old English, servant or boy) while chivalry comes from the French chevalerie, from chevalier or knight. In modern English, chivalry means the ideals, virtues, or characteristics of knights. But in actuality, the phrases quot;orders of chivalry quot; and quot;orders of knighthood quot; are essentially synonymous. Succinctly, a knight was a professional soldier. On the contrary to this not so balanced father, son relationship, heredity enters the knightly class in the 13th century. The son of a knight is automatically a squire, thus making him eligible for knighthood on the basis of his ancestry. Men who were free provided military service, either personally or (if they were rich enough) using others services. Thus, a man who held his estate in knight s fee owed service as a knight to his lord. A more sizeable vassal, when called by his liege, would summon his knights and form a contingent in his liege s army. In the late 13th century, a decision of the Parliament in Paris forbade the count of Artois from making unfree men into knights without the king s consent; interesting to note, the two men who had been so knighted were allowed to remain knights subject to the payment of a fine. Knighthood did not become a hereditary class in England, and instead the knightly class (those eligible to be knights) became the nucleus of the gentry. As a military institution, knighthood was on the wane from the late 13th century on. The end of feudal society meant that sovereigns gained a monopoly on war making, and the old form of military service owed to one s immediate lord became obsolete. Italy is located in southern Europe bordering countries such as France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia. With a population of over sixty million people, Italy has a capitalist market with high GDP per capita and a well developed infrastructure. According to the International Monetary Fund, it is the eighth largest economy in the entire world and third biggest in Europe. After analyzing the National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT), the GDP of Italy expanded by 10% in the fourth quarter of last year. From 1960 2013, the GDP growth rate averaged 63% per year. Their main industrial base is driven by producing high quality consumer goods. The main sectors in Italy are tourism, iron and steel, machinery, textiles, food processing, shoes, clothing (fashion), and one of the biggest being the auto sector. Italy joined the European Union in 1952, and between then and now, their country has gone through growth rates well above 4%. However, after 1992, Italy s expansion rates fell below the European Union average. Ever since then, Italy s government has been trying to revive their economy by increasing the amount of public spending.
