1. How To Change A Quote In An Essay
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of altering a quote within an academic piece poses a
multifaceted challenge. At its core, this task demands a delicate balance between maintaining the
integrity of the original quote and seamlessly integrating it into the essay's narrative.
Firstly, one must possess a profound understanding of the quote's context, ensuring that any
modifications made align with the author's intended message. This requires meticulous research
and critical analysis to grasp the nuances embedded within the quote.
Furthermore, altering a quote necessitates a thorough comprehension of citation rules and
academic conventions to ensure compliance with scholarly standards. Properly attributing the
modified quote while adhering to formatting guidelines adds another layer of complexity to the
process.
Moreover, the task demands a keen eye for language and syntax to ensure that any alterations
made seamlessly blend with the surrounding text, maintaining the essay's coherence and flow.
Striking the right balance between preserving the essence of the original quote and integrating it
harmoniously into the essay's argument is no small feat.
Additionally, addressing potential ethical considerations surrounding quote manipulation adds
another dimension of complexity to the writing process. It requires careful consideration of the
implications of altering someone else's words and the responsibility that comes with accurately
representing external sources.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of modifying quotes within an academic context
requires a comprehensive understanding of the quote's context, proficiency in citation
conventions, linguistic finesse, and ethical awareness. Successfully navigating these challenges
demands a high level of skill and precision from the writer.

2. It s No Secret That Anti Americanism Is Rampant Around...
It s no secret that anti Americanism is rampant around the world. One of the reasons
is America s continued use of the death penalty. We re seen as a violent, vengeful
nation for such a policy. This is pretty much the same view that Europeans had of
America when we continued the practice of slavery long after it had been banned in
Europe.
Evidence:
M We as a society have to move away from the eye for an eye revenge mentality if
civilization is to advance. The eye for an eye mentality will never solve anything. A
revenge philosophy inevitably leads to an endless cycle of violence (ACLU, 2012).
E Capital punishment is an intolerable denial of civil liberties and is inconsistent with
the fundamental values of our democratic system (The American Civil Liberties
Union, 2012).The death penalty system in the US is applied in an unfair and unjust
manner against people, largely dependent on how much money they have, the skill of
their attorneys, race of the victim and where the crime took place (ACLU, 2012).
People of color are far more likely to be executed than white people, especially if the
victim is white (ACLU, 2012).
A The death penalty is uncivilized in theory and unfair and inequitable in practice
(ACLU, 2012). Life in prison is a worse punishment and a more effective deterrent.
For those of you who don t feel much sympathy for a murderer, keep in mind that
death may be too good for them. With a death sentence, the suffering is over in an
instant. With life in
3. The Power Of Words In Richard Wright s Black Boy
Southern Summer Nights
Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will hurt forevermore. Words
hold power, they are the key to success and the bomb to downfall. Throughout
history, only the words of victors are remembered while the voices of the lost are
forgotten throughout the ages. A simple piece of literature, such as the Diary of
Anne Frank, can cause millions of people to see their world in a new light. From a
young age, Richard Wright discovered the power behind the words he spoke and
heard; the strength that bleeds through the inked characters of the forbidden books he
read, and the influence that a book written ages ago had on his family and others.

In short, things happened that resulted in a change of home and environment.
Exposed to a young lady by the name of Ella, he learned the influence between the
written words that morphed obscure and abstract thoughts into a series of clips that
became one long, detailed, movie. His imagination [was] blazed (39) and his
interest in the story of Bluebeard and His Seven Wives clutched desperately onto
his senses as she read aloud. Despite the book being the Devil s work (39), at least to
his grandmother anyway, Richard found that he hungered for the sharp, frightening,
breathtaking, almost painful excitement that the story (40) offered him. He stole
books and attempted to read them despite not knowing more than a handful of
words. Although the words alone had no value to Richard, the words became a
gateway to a forbidden and enchanting land (40). Series of magazines and books
later, Richard himself got to give meaning to inked characters by writing a short story
himself. His classmates asked in awe if he really wrote it himself in which he
replies with a simple yes. Having written a piece of literature himself, Richard knew
how influential the written word could be, especially if it was the word of

I grew up watching my father advance himself to the rank of Colonel in the Marine
Corps. It was because of him I developed a strong desire to be part of a

received my associate s degree and continued onto the University of South Florida,
where I received a bachelor s degree in Criminology.
Before joining PCSO, I was employed at the Best Buy electronics store in Brandon

The road s surface will generate stormwater that will contain contaminants such as
hydrocarbons and heavy metals. The stormwater will be treated and directed into 6
wetlands, where the contaminants will be diluted and discharged directly into the
Marine environment. Although the contaminants will be diluted, the concentrations
of them in the receiving environments will gradually increase. There is likely to be
adverse effects on the affected environments due to the new source of contaminants.
The amount of contaminants has not been evaluated and the effects will be

could potentially result in the loss of some susceptible macroinvertebrates (Boffa

7. Body Image And Dissatisfaction Of The Thin Ideal
Body Image and Dissatisfaction The media s interpretation of the thin ideal has
caused people to modify their personal perception of body image, which is defined
as the internal representation of one s own outer appearance reflecting physical and
perceptual dimensions (Borzekowski; Bayer). This notion is akin with self esteem
and self concept possibly resulting in individuals having an inadequate body imageas
well as low self esteem.
The term body dissatisfaction is defined as a negative subjective perception of one s
own self image. According to psychologists Grabe, Hyde, and Ward approximately
50% of women who do or do not suffer from an eating disorder have feelings of
body dissatisfaction (2008). People who have unrealistic expectations of their own
body image are also at a greater risk of being discontent with their body because of
the sustained depiction of the thin ideal by the media. Body dissatisfaction is also
directly correlated with critical physical and heath problems because of the negative
affect eating disorders have on people (Grabe; Hyde; Ward, 2008).
Trends The media has induced society to accept that being thin is the quintessential
embodiment of beauty that everyone should consider vital in physical
attractiveness. This results in a conflict of interest amidst being the ideal body
image verses being considered fat . Those who are skinny ordinarily have a more
superior prestige in social class ranking in comparison to

Barbara Tuchman s book, The Guns of August begins in 1910, at King Edward VII
of England s funeral. At the funeral there are nine European kings there to pay their
respects. One of the kings is his nephew, German Kaiser Wilhelm. Wilhelm resented
how England softened Germany s rise as a European power, affiliating instead with
France, Russia, and Japan. Wilhelm desired power and acknowledgment and used
Edward s funeral to begin calculating. Over the years, Germany prepares for war,
making plans to attack Belgiumand widening the Kiel Canal. France and England
feared the possibility of ear with Germany. They feared that Japan s 1910 defeat of
Russia might boost Germany to carry out the conflict, but Russia is still a major
power. France still depended on Russia to help win any German attack. Germany
tries to convince Belgium that France is planning to invade their country to attack
Germany. King Albert of Belgium snubs Germany and goes to France and England
for help. In England, the country worries about whether to go to war, but after
Germany invades Belgium, England enters the war. Turkey struggles to choose
which country to support. They weren t welcoming with England, but also not
willing to back Germany. Turkey was nervous of the outcome if Germany lost the
war. German ships end up in Turkey, gaining control of the country and bordering
countries such as Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, and Greece. The Germans begin their

Toward a Recovery of Nineteenth Century Farming Handbooks
While researching texts written about nineteenth century farming, I found a few
authors who published books about the literature of nineteenth century farming,
particularly agricultural journals, newspapers, pamphlets, and brochures. These
authors often placed the farming literature they were studying into an historical
context by discussing the important events in agriculture of the year in which the
literature was published (see Demaree, for example). However, while these authors
discuss journals, newspapers, pamphlets, and brochures, I could not find much
discussion about another important source of farming knowledge: farming
handbooks. My goal in this paper is to bring this source into the agricultural literature
discussion by connecting three agricultural handbooks from the nineteenth century
with nineteenth century agricultural history.
To achieve this goal, I have organized my paper into four main sections, two of which
have sub sections. In the first section, I provide an account of three important events
in nineteenth century agricultural history: population and technological changes, the
distribution of scientific new knowledge, and farming s influence on education. In the
second section, I discuss three nineteenth century farming handbooks in connection
with the important events described in the first section. I end my paper with a third
section that offers research questions that could be answered in
10. Contributions Of Confucianism
Confucius was a great Chinese philosopher, but he was also a teacher, editor, and
politician. He was born on September 28, 551 BC, and died in 479 BC. He was
most well known as Confucius, but his real name is Kong Qiu. After his death,
Confucianism became the official imperial philosophy of China. Later after his
death, he was regarded as a sage who deserved greater recognition, and his teachings
became more popular. He accomplished many great things in his life, and died a
successful man. Confuciusenvisioned a type of government where people strived to
succeed. He thoughtthat how you go about trying to achieve something, is more
important that actually achieving it. He once said, Good government obtains when

Confucius said, The progress of the superior man is upwards. He wanted their
leaders to better their government, so he took control, and told the leaders how they
should act. Teaching leaders how to behave was important to Confucius, because
he wanted to bring order to society, and he wanted good people who could do that.
He wanted the rulers to not be cruel anymore. Confucius said, The man, who in the
view of gain, thinks of righteousness; who in the view of danger is prepared to give
up his life; and who does not forget an old agreement however far back it extends:
such a man may be reckoned a complete man. This was his real idea of a good
leader. Confucius did not want the leader to be selfish, and he wanted them to
keep true to their word. His opinion was that the superior man s words should never
be incorrect. He wanted the leaders to be truthful to the people, and not tell them
lies. Another thing Confucius thought made a good leader was when someone who
is in conduct of himself maintains a sense of shame, and does not disgrace his
prince s commission, deserves to be called an officer. This means that he thought if
a man had these qualities, he was considered a good officer. He thought good
leaders should maintain order by making sure what he said was carried out
appropriately, as it is said in the Analects. He also said that in intercourse with others,
be strictly sincere. Confucius did not want
11. My Adulthood Memories And Memories Of A Childhood
Home
Places are more than less often full of memories. Rooms have narratives that can be
told through the items and furniture they contain. These narratives are often
overlooked and not thought about, especially in places where one does not want to
spend a particularly large amount of time. Rooms speak, even though we often don t
want to listen, or don t want to know. Basements are often like this, full of broken
thing and memories, knee deep castaways, childhood toys and holiday lights. The
basementin my childhood home is this way, completely divided into then and now;
simply, entirely, depressing. This room is split into two distinct halves. The stairs
are creaky and off white, stained grey and black from soda spills, muddy shoes,
snow slush and dirty dog feet. Clumps of dog hair sit in the corners of each step,
wrapped up into dust balls. At the bottom, to the immediate left, is where a
playroom used to be. There are drawings and old bits of paper stuck up on the
walls, hinting as to what this space used to contain. Now, a large, professional grade
ping pong table sits in the middle of the room. Once loved, the table is now stacked
high with towels and laundry. On the wallparallel to the length of the table is a child
s growth chart, drawn in Sharpie on the rigid wall that ruined many a marker tip.
Starting in June 2004 and ending in June of 2017, about 18 lines with corresponding
dates mark the growth of a child. On the adjacent wall, farthest from the
12. Socrates Holiness
What exactly is holiness? This is a question that was brought up in Plato s infamous
Euthyphro , which addresses the question of what is holy and unholy through the
interactions and conversation between Socrates and Euthyphro. Before diving into
the analysis and evaluation of the conversation that occurs between the two, it is
necessary to first develop a background between the characters. Euthyphro can be
classified as an arrogant and somewhat idiotic priest who is awaiting a trial to
prosecute his own father for the murder of a slave. It is at the entrance of the law
courts that Euthyphro encountered Socrates, a well recognized interpreter of religion
and theology. Socrates notices Euthyphro and converses with the man. Socrates has
one main goal that he hopes to achieve through this conversation: To discover the
definitionof the holy. It is from this point onward that the essay will cover analysis of
the conversationin greater detail, uncovering the philosophy of holiness. To begin, the
holy must have the form of the holy. Form is often an expression of something s
essence, and essence is usually categorized as the original defining characteristic of
an item. If you were to remove the essence from something, then it would simply
cease to exist as that thing. So, if the holy must have the form of the holy, then this
then informs us that the definition of holiness must capture/attain everything in total
that is holy. It is similar to the idea of all or nothing .

Final Examination
Aristotle s definition of the soul is the substance in the sense which corresponds to
the definitive formula of a thing s essence. Aristotle thought that the soul is the Form
of the body. The soul is basically all of the operations of a human being. Aristotle
believed that there are levels of living things. He stated that plants only have a
vegetative soul, animals are above plants because they have senses and appetites,
and humans are above animals because it has the power of reasoning and
knowledge us. Aristotle tries to explain the difference between the body and the soul

He argues that because of this, there is growth, deterioration, and reproduction.
Aristotle says that plants only have this type of ability. To obtain this, it is
important to have a soul. The next level is sensation. Because of this quality, the
feelings of pain and pleasure arises. Aristotle says that animals have this quality.
For a soul to have sensations, vegetation must be there as well. In other words, if
sensation is a characteristic of the soul, its vegetative ability is added as well. The
next capacity that can be developed is appetite, which is very much related to
sensation. After the soul is able to feel, there is a rush of desires. Some desires go
along with what we physically need like thirst and hunger and other desires that we
do not need like emotions like anger. The next step is motion, which is movement
from place to place and rest. As said before, in order to have this ability, it is essential
to have the previous ones, building up on the soul. For motion to be possible,
appetite, sensation and vegetation must also be there. The last level is understanding;
which Aristotle thinks is the most unusual. This involves reasoning using thought and
intelligence. In this category, humans would most likely be found even though
Aristotle states that some people are guided only by imagination and not intelligence.
Again, to have this quality, all of the characteristics stated before must be

Altering reality can be done, mentally, physically, or emotionally, it is changing
what you see, hear, feel or believe is real. Because altering reality can be created in
so many ways artists from the turn of the 20th century have been altering reality in
magnificent art works, telling the untold, speaking the unspeakable and
transferring the viewer to a mythical imaginable universe where anything can
happen. They created a way to escape the real world, to pretend that the world was
a nice place, so that society would relax or have somewhere to go to feel peaceful.
Two amazing and well known artists that alter reality are Salvador Dali and Alex
Andreev. Dali s well known surrealism art works appeared in the late 1920 s and
are iconic for this period. Hegelian Dialectic said that Surrealism would advocate
the idea that ordinary and depictive expressions are vital and important, but that the
sense of their arrangement must be open to the full range of imagination. (Ades, D,
2001) Andreev s art works are a contemporary twist on surrealism and are
contrastingly bright and energetic. Both are successful in altering reality as they
manipulate the audience s reality physically and mentally as they use out of place
objects, mentally impossible themes and intriguing meanings. After WWII many
people had no art or literature of any sorts that was not purely educational, the people
craved for something to ease their minds from the sorrow and suffering and reality of
war. The

16. Eyewitness In The Criminal Justice System
Human memory is a complex system that encodes, stores, and retrieves information.
Encoding involves two types of rehearsal: maintenance rehearsal, which is reciting
the information, and relational or elaborative rehearsal, which is thinking about what
the information means and how it relates to what you already know (Reisberg, 2016).
Active encoding helps short termmemorytransfer to long term memory. Next, storage
involves holding the information until it is needed, which brings us to retrieval.
Retrieval happens when you remember the information; it requires first finding the
information in storage and then bringing it to the surface. Errors in any one of these
processes can result in error in memory which has large implications for eyewitness
identification in the criminal justice system. During a criminal investigation, the
police seek out eyewitnesses to better understand what happened and who committed
the crime. The eyewitness may assist in making a sketch of the assailant and might

Since the Supreme Court is the highest and most powerful court, it can overrule any
of the other court s decisions. A great example of this was the Brown v. Board of
Education of Education of Topeka that schools segregated by race were
unconstitutional (US History 1). In this case, it overruled the decision made in 1896
in the Plessy v. Ferguson case where the separate but equal idea was made legal. This
shows how important the power the Supreme Court has is. If the separate but equal
case was never unconstitutional, the African Americans might still be suffering from
injustice in the society. On the other hand, there has also been other cases that have
been ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. For instance, in the U.S. Supreme
Court s 1989 decision in Stanford v. Kentucky, which held that executing minors was
not unconstitutional, was no longer valid (Roper v. Simmons 1). This decision has
brought y many benefits to the minors that have been convicted to a crime since it
gives them longer time to prove their innocence. Furthermore, the idea of executing
minors is still considered too brutal and inhumane. So the power that the Supreme
Court possess can help the country abolish some of its unjust

him to be so enticing.
Throughout the novel, Larson repeatedly expresses Holmes wicked, yet, alluring
nature through figurative language. In order to convey Holmes twisted feelings

Larson uses a simile to compare the sensation to a warm languor (148) one would
obtain from sitting too long in front of a hot stove. (149) This association tends to
make the reader think of happiness and fullness, as many link it with warmth, making
them feel a similar emotion to Holmes. Later, with the purpose of expressing
Holmes proneness to psychoticness, Larson writes of a simile comparing the office
Holmes built for himself to the corner of a room where the gaslight could not reach.

A trait of a psychopath is detachment and dissociation, and the fact that Holmes has

22. Analysis of the Graduate Essay
The Graduate is a great example of a film where lens and camera choices were
used effectively to convey the director s point of view. It seemed like every choice
made by the director Mike Nichols director and the director of cinematography Bob
Surtees was justified. The outcome of each shot played an important role in shaping
the message of the film. The cinematography of Bob Surtees is very complicated and
thoughtful but at the same time seems poetic and spontaneous.
All of Mrs. Robinson and Benjamin s scenes pass in a musically backed montage
sequence, a segment that uses rapid editing, special effects and music to present
compressed narrative information. This shows the endless pass of time. One scene is

The image seems very flat. The viewer cannot focus on anything but the characters
faces. The depth of field and depth of focus are very small. One of the reasons why
this scene was shot like that was because of the rain. Mike Nichols wanted this scene
to take place on a very rainy day. Of course no one would ever think about waiting
for real rain in Beverly Hills during the summer so they had to create it by
themselves. The crew set up a rainmaker over the car in which the actors were
riding. They shot from alongside and from in front using a 500 millimeter telephoto
lens which threw the background so far out of focus that it was impossible to tell
whether it was pouring in the distance or not. This was a great example of a
practical use of lenses. The Graduate, however, was rich in many experimental uses
of the camera that were mainly chosen to more directly describe the characters state
of minds.
Thinking that confessing the truth to Elaine will solve everything, Benjamin makes a
major miscalculation. He rushes towards the house with Mrs. Robinson pursuing
close behind. Here again, the scene of Ben running towards the house was shot with a
telephoto lens. This lens was chosen to create an illusion that rain is present
everywhere, not only over Ben s head. The use of the telephoto lens and the
movement of the camera created another very interesting effect. The moment when
Ben is running was shot from a farther distance. One can notice that the camera
23. Female Circumcision Or Female Genital Mutilation
Female circumcision or Female Genital mutilation is a term utilized to describe a
wide range of traditional practices in relation to female circumcision. This study
addresses the practice within the Maasai communities of Tanzania and Kenya, Africa.
This study will address this practice by looking at the historical and cultural context
of the people, procedure, the various beliefs in the world, and within the community.
Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background:
Female Genital Mutilation refers to several manners of conducting operations of
women and girls, involving the partial or total removal of external genitalia. This
practice is considered a traditional practice amongst many people and communities
throughout the world. While the practice has been ongoing for centuries it has been
deemed a human rights violation on the grounds that it inflicts harm on females,
including damaging them in a physical, sexual, and psychological manner. These
rights violations fall under The Convention of the Rights of the Child, the Convention
on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and Protocol to the
African Charter on Human and People s Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa.
1.2 Statement of the problem:
Female Genital Mutilation has been executed over generations due to the social
dynamics which have made it difficult for girls, and their families to abandon the
practice. The practice has no health benefits; rather it is damaging the health of the
women. These

25. I Am A Big Deal
For some, turning thirty is a big deal. For Opera Atelier turning thirty is an
outstanding accomplishment few companies could ever compare or measure up to.
Moreover, retrofitting Purcell s Dido and Aeneas seven times in the companies
history is a creative feat unto itself. I first became familiar with OperaAtelier in the
1990 s. A time when it was still considered to be an indy opera company .
Fortunately, that label has changed and I ve been able to witness the companies
progression. I have attended three of their Dido productions and must admit, this was
not my favorite for a number of reasons.
So, how does a company like Opera Atelier reinvent a period piece that was
initially staged in the basement of an all girls school, at a time when the gods were
a part of recent history, and music so boring it could send one to sleep?
Perhaps it would be best to understand OA s genetic makeup. The artistic directors
are just as passionate about their company as they were twenty years ago. Not only
was their joy for storytelling effervescent but their commitment to the aesthetic vision
even more. On a warm Saturday afternoon, the theatre fills with an impressive
audience. A number of tourists catch a last minute performance, parents, children,
adults, students, and the Tafelmusik Orchestra s dedicated fans (some of which
appeared in period dress). Toronto s Elgin could not be a more fitting environment to
stage Dido, for the gilded ceilings, ornate wrought iron gold leaf
26. The Case Of Medical Specialist Company
1.Referring to the case of medical specialist company, there were a couple of
strength of the training needs analysis is that the HR professional was able to
conduct training programs in order to improve the required skills of employees
for the new system. This was a very important factor because most of the
employees could only work with the old system, which was a system with only
simple design and running window 98. In the training needs analysis, the HR
professional was able to use on the job training method and business games training
method to conduct the training programs to train the employees. These were
effective plan for letting employees to obtain new knowledge and skills to work.
The weakness of the training needs analysis was that they had to spend money to
conduct training programs for those who were illiterate and were not able to
operate the new updated system (Mc Call, 1970). I would recommend the HR
professional of the medical specialist company to prepare training needs
assessment for all employees regularly, such as every six months once or once a
year. This would be helpful for updating the employees knowledge. According to
Denby (2010), the training programs that is provided by company should not be
just simply focus on teaching employees how to perform a certain job but also
focus on guiding them how to do jobs better. Therefore, providing training needs
analysis for all employees would be able to let the HR professional know that what

contributed to its careful integration between commercial and social elements.

In the case of Eva s Phoenix, one solution to reduce the conflict would be to reinstate
their mission statement. This mission statement will serve the purpose of a
communication tool. It will communicate to employees, customers, investors and
other stakeholders the purpose of the organization, which is the maximization of
profits, social causes and environment friendly initiatives/actions. The conflict will
be reduced when the purpose is reinstated and employees are told that they are
working towards mutual goals. Once the common goals are indentified they can
work as a team and there will be less conflict as they are trying to achieve the exact
same goals. Another way to reduce conflict would be the separation of commercial
and social departments, to divide the departments into two functions. When they work
together there is conflict, as production wants efficiency and social department wants
to take the time to train the youth, so that they can acquire life lasting skills. Their
conflicting views will create problems; therefore to avoid conflict their roles need to
be divided with accountability, this will allow each function to work separately, but
towards achieving common goal. Regardless of their separation the department
should not work as silos and become integrated to share information, this help will
them overcome the challenge of separation. Hiring street
28. Ecg Research Paper
Doctors are able to view a patient s heart activity through the use of an
electrocardiograph or ECG. The ECG is configured with 3 leads that measure
changes in electrical voltage; these changes are associated with specific parts of the
cardiac excitation process. Doctor s often look at these ECGs to determine if the heart
is functioning properly. A standard sinus rhythm contains P, Q, R, S, and T waves
that all occur at specific points and form a defined shape. When there is an
abnormality in these waves, physicians know the heart is not functioning correctly
and they attempt to diagnose the problem. One abnormality is called sinus arrest.
Sinus arrest means the SA node is not firing the initial action potential to depolarize
the rest of the heart.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ECG of someone undergoing sinus arrest will lack a P wave. Another type of
ECG abnormality is atrioventricular block. A patient is said to have this when their
SA node is depolarizing but they lack a QRS complex. This lack of a QRS
complex means that there is a failure in the passing of depolarization from the atria
to the ventricles. The third type of excitation failure is a premature ventricular
contraction or PVC. This happens when the QRS complex occurs before the SA
node fires an initial depolarization. Patients who experience PVCs often say that
their heart skipped a beat. In reality, the heart did not skip a beat, the ventricles just
contracted earlier than normal which results in a so called compensatory pause to
readjust timing. This pause ends with the next sinus beat that arrives exactly when it
should in the cycle (Hammond, 1984). Some patients will just experience one or two
PVCs, but others will experience multiple. The repetition of three or more PVCs is
called ventricular tachycardia and often results in palpitations and fainting. Another
type of abnormality is ventricular fibrillation. This is when a patient has completely
abnormal depolarization and there is no
29. Southwest Airline Case Analysis
Southwest Airline s Strategies:
Southwest Airline s successful strategy consists of three complementary qualities
which are focus, divergence and compelling tagline. This short haul airline believes
that by focusing on friendly service, speed and frequent point to point departures, its
low pricing is able to compete against car transportation. While other competitors try
to delight customers by investing in meals, airport lounges and seating selections,
Southwest chooses to eliminate or reduces investments in these industry s
competitive factors. As a result, Southwest s low prices are unbeatable making them
the preferred airline in the industry. With a divergence element in Southwest s
strategy, it is able to innovate and stand apart ... Show more content on

The first source of competitive advantage is its low price tickets. After the terrorist
attacks in Sept 2001 where most of the airlines were making losses due to a decline
in air travelers, Southwest was still in a good shape due to its low cost model. Most
of the travelers are willing to give up comfort such as in flight entertainment and
fancy seats for a cheaper ticket. Secondly, cost advantage for Southwest plays a huge
part in its competitive advantage. Only Boeing 737s are used and only coach seats
are offered. This leads to the competency of Southwest s crews on 737 which helps to
achieve faster turnaround time on the ground. Company cost of training, maintenance
and inventory decreased significantly as well. The third competitive advantage is the
cultural values that are instilled in Southwest s organization. Employees are placed
first and are armed with tremendous information that assists in understanding the
company s mission, customers and competition. Happy employees lead to satisfied
customers through excellent customer services.
Southwest Airline s Strategic Issues:
While Southwest s excellent strategy should be applauded, there are a few strategic
issues that can weaken its position in the face of various potential challenges. The
first strategic issue lies in the challenge of preserving cultural values with Southwest s
growth. This Southwest culture was designed to work in a small
30. Compare and Contrast Ottoman and Mughal Empires Essay
The Ottoman and Mughal empires were two of the greatest and most successful
empires to ever form in history. However, they both had some similarities as well as
differences. Both empires went through tough periods of time, but at some point they
also went through times of growth and prosperity. Although the Ottoman and Mughal
Empireboth did not force conversions into Islam, the Ottoman s development relied
on their tough military force, while the decline of the Mughal Empire was caused
by Aurangzeb s policy of religious persecution and high taxes. Because of the
Ottoman and Mughal Empire being tolerant of other beliefs, people of all religions
living in the empire lived in peace. The Ottomans granted freedom of worship to...

Babur expanded his kingdom by attacking Afghanistan and conquering Kabul after 21
years of being in power. From that point, he crossed over the mountains into
Hindustan and attacked the Dehli Sultanate, again defeating them and gaining their
land. When he died in 1530 he had conquered all of Hindustan and controlled an
empire that stretched out from the Deccan to Turkestan. These different strategies of
conquering land helped the 2 empires rule throughout Asia and, in the Ottoman s
case, some parts of Europe also. Although the Ottoman and Mughal empires had two
different reasons for decline, both were because of the leaders currently in power at
the time. Even though Suleyman, the ruler of the Ottomans, accomplished social and
cultural achievements, the empire was losing ground. Suleyman made a mistake by
killing two of his sons. His third son, the incompetent Selim II, inherited the throne.
Suleyman set the pattern for the future sultans to gain and hold power. It became
customary for each new sultan to kill his brother. This practice produced a long line
of weak sultans who eventually brought ruin on the empire. Since India was mainly a

An Evaluative Report on Company Fraud
How does a company truly know if they have accurate check and balancing in place to
detect malicious activity that may impact financial statements? The main obligation
for the sufficiency and release in the company s annual statements resides within the
management of the company (Whittington Pany, 2014). It is a critical component, for
management to have a strong financial management system that is documented,
meaningful and well considered accounting policies and procedures manual
(Reineking, Chamberlain, Rudolph, Smith, 2013); this has been demonstrated
through other published audits as company have provided documentation around this
policies and procedures. Additionally, all companies should create operational
internal controls to improve the accuracy and validity of financial data and serve as a
mechanism to defend the company s financial assets, and to prevent fraud. The
success of a company is directly influenced by procedures and policies,
implementation of internal controls, checks and balancing, annual auditing, which all
aid in ensuring that the company is acting in accordance to rules and regulation set
forth, furthermore reflecting in positive results and successful audit reviews.

32. Ecuador, The Republic Of Ecuador
Ecuador, officially the Republic of Ecuador, is a representative democratic republic
in South America located in the Andes mountain range on the equator. Ecuador s
capital is Quito. Due to its mega diversity and natural resources and mild climate,
Ecuador s economy is developed around agricultural products. Oil, shrimp and
bananas are the nation s top export while the manufacturing sector accounts for less
than 7 percent of all export. (Worldmark Encyclopedia) Ecuadoris a small to medium
sized market for U.S. exports. In 2011, U.S. exports to Ecuador increased almost
12 percent to $6.06 billion. The Central Bank s forecast for GDP growth in 2012 is
5.35 percent, for a total GDP of $71.6 billion by year end 2012. (Doing Business in
Ecuador, sec. 1) Ecuador is open to foreign investment but its trade policy has being
unpredictable since the government is currently searching for new ways to improve
its trade balance. In 2009 the government decided to decrease imports and promote
exports through a new Production Code that includes various measures such as
import substitutions, enforcement of standards sanitary requirements and investment
incentives. (Doing Business in Ecuador, sec.1)
Throughout history, Ecuador faces many economic problems typically experienced
by a developing nation. Political instability in the country has affected the national
economy, discouraging international and domestic investment in Ecuador s market

33. Early American Colonization
When the American people first think of colonization of this country, they usually
think back to the old elementary rhyme Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean
blue in 1492 and think of that as the beginning of the colonization. While it was a
first for European exploration to the western world, it was not the first mass
colonization. Nearly 70 years after Columbus Queen Elizabeth the first authorized a
charter to Sir Humphrey Gilbert and his half brother Walter Ralegh for them to
discover, search, find out, and view such remote heathen and barbarous lands,
countries, and territories, not actually possessed of any Christian Prince and people

John White who would also become the colony s governor led the expedition. The
third group arrived in 1587. Entire families came with children 17 women and 11
children accompanied a party of 90 men. That meant the group wanted to settle in
the New World and was not a military excursion, which would have included only
male explorers (Basu, Have We Found the Lost Colony of Roanoke?, 2017). This
expedition would be the final test for England, to see whether or not colonization
is fully possible. If the 117 men and women were to survive, England would send
over more ships of citizens and supplies, if not, then colonization of the Western
World would be put off. As months past, the colonists began to run low on
provisions. They urged their leader, John White, to return to England for
provisions. When he did, the French attacked and the Queen closed all ports
leading to White s delayed return three years later. When he did finally return, his
people were gone and nowhere to be found. Historians have come up with multiple
scenarios of what could have happened to the citizens of this lost colony, as there
has not been much evidence found. Most researchers think the colonists likely
encountered disease caused by New World microbes their bodies had never
encountered before or violence (Basu, et al., 2017). Violence could have been caused

As of 10SEP2015 Ayman al Zawahiri, who took over as leader of al Qaeda after
the death of Osama bin Laden, sent a message accusing the ISIS leader and self
proclaimed caliph Abu Bakr al Baghdadi of sedition, and declared all out war against
the Islamic State however no sooner than five days after this statement Al Zawahiri
extended an olive branch saying that all Muslim s should work together against the
common enemy.
So to say the least these two organizations have complicated relations at best. This
current state of hostility has not always been the case though, at one point though
shaky al Qaeda, and ISIS s precursors were allied. To illustrate this I will take us back
in time to the origins of ISIS and al Qaeda s relationship in Iraq. ... Show more

Though al Zawahiri declared war upon Isis declaring al Baghdadis caliphate
illegitimate also extended an olive branch towards ISIS saying they could work
together. This confusing chain of events could be his way of trying to influence
what he sees as an undisciplined and misguided organization to drift towards his
view of how jihad should be fought, possibly trying to turn ISIS back towards al
Qaeda s leadership in the event of Baghdadis death. There is I believe, a certain
amount of personal animosity between al Zawahiri and al Baghdadi which
prevents them from actively agreeing on what is best for the Muslim world and
how that world should be led and because of this makes cooperation between the
two groups unlikely at this point. However having said this, the very fact that al
Zawahiri is attempting cooperation with ISIS is troubling. He realizes that an
alliance preferably under al Qaeda leadership would strengthen his influence for the
greater battle against the west. An alliance such as this could be devastating for the
west as it could give the platform and funding for the jihadists to launch more
frequent larger scale attacks throughout the world and draw more radicalized
followers to their cause. This is currently an unlikely situation in my view because
ISIS and Al Qaeda are actively competing against each

36. Alfred J Prufrock
The Love Song of Alfred J. Prufrock by T. S. Eliot is an excellent short poem about
a man reflecting back on his life and realizing that he is alone and might possibly
die alone. Eliot uses a variety of symbols, metaphors, and great diction to convey
that Prufrock is unsatisfied with his life, especially his love life. Eliot depicts
Prufrock as an older man reflecting back on his life, metaphorically, going through a
midlife crisis. I grow old... I grow old.../I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers
rolled, by this Eliot is getting the reader to visualize as a person grows older, they
grow shorter (120 121). Along with growing shorter Eliot also describes the
significant balding of an old man With a bald spot in the middle of my hair / (they
will say: How his hair is growing thin! ) (40 41). These two lines alone are showing
that Prufrock is very insecure and self conscious with how he looks. Prufrock even
goes as far as asking himself, Shall I part my hair behind? (122) Eliot is trying to
show the reader that Prufrock wants to look his best for the intelligent ladies by
wearing My morning coat, my collar mounting firmly to the chin,/My necktie rich
and modest, but asserted by a simple pin and combing what hair he does have over

38. Corruption In The Great Gatsby
Success, formerly signifying the accomplishment of an aim or purpose, however, it
has become poisoned by the narcissism of humankind which redefines it as the state
of being financially superior to others. In F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great
Gatsby, the outlook on the American Dream during the 1920s was crafted through a
myriad of events and characters depicting this civil dilemma. By definition, the
American Dream is the belief that anyone, regardless of race, class, gender, or
nationality, can be successful in America (wealthy), if they exert the required effort
on their arduous journey. Having said that, the American Dream thus presents an
illusion of an American society that neglects issues such as: systemic racism,
misogyny, xenophobia, and income inequality. Furthermore, it also postulates a myth
of class equality, yet the reality could not be further from this. In the novel The Great
Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgeralddemonstrates how fantasies driven by materialistic
ideologies can lead to inevitable corruption and demoralization in society. Notably,
this is exhibited through the daily struggles of George and Myrtle Wilson, the
conspicuous bigotry of Tom and Daisy Buchanan as well as the ambition and passion
of Jay Gatsby.
Firstly, the characters George and Myrtle Wilson embody those who are pursuing
the American Dream and face the endless challenges of their harsh realities.
George owns an auto repair shop to collect profits while Myrtle pursues wealth and
status through her affair with Tom. With this in mind, it is evident that both are
disempowered due to the lack of money at their disposal. An example supporting
this is when Nick describes the region they live in: This is a valley of ashes...
which screens their obscure operations from your sight. (26). Instead of a bucolic
image of a regular farm, the beauty of the natural world has been transformed into a
horrible hellscape of gray ashes. Moreover, Nick describes the people living there
as ash gray men who swarm like insects, illustrating the grim lives of the lower
class labour workers who are barely surviving. Also, this displays how the rich are
disconnected from their source of wealth and are ignorant towards their privilege. The
