Attending The Alcoholic Anonymous Meeting At Holy Trinity...
I chose to attend the Alcoholic Anonymous meeting at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church on the
north side of Chicago. I chose to visit a church because I wanted to see if there was a religious
aspect thrown into the session. The name of the session was called Big Book Stop Study. This
session occurs every Monday at 7:00pm, as an open meeting. The meeting lasted for an hour. The
session was led by three members, Kyle, Tamara, and Melissa. There was fourteen participants
within the group. I was very apprehensive about attending a meeting because I didn t want to be
seen as an alcoholic. For that very reason, I understand how hard it may be for some to admit to
their alcoholism, due to the negative connotation that comes with the name. To some, that may
seem like a short span of time. However, upon visiting this particular session I saw progression in
each participant. I was very pleased with what I witnessed as a visitor.

The research question that I am interested in answering is whether a combined prolonged
exposure (PE) and cognitive processing therapy (CPT) approach is useful in treating veterans
with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The ideal study would include four groups: one to
receive PE, one to receive CPT, one to receive both PE and CPT, and one that does not receive an
intervention. The groups would consist of an equal 50/50 male to female ratio (half of the
participants would be male, half would be female) to control for gender. The participants would be
contacted based on information gathered about veterans with PTSDby the local U.S. Department of
Veteran s Affairs offices in Orange County, California.
In this scenario, the independent variable is the type of treatment and the values are the treatment
groups. The dependent variables are the patient s measurable PTSD symptoms, including frequency
of dissociative reactions, recurrent distressing dreams, negative alterations in cognitions and mood,
and marked alterations in arousal and reactivity (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). The

When I took the first discovery questionnaire I reflected on what image or metaphor I would use
to describe myself. One image that kept coming to mind was one of rescuer. I have this image of
myself that I am here to save everyone that I can. This is not true only of my personal life trying

a very strong and determined individual that refused to give up her beliefs and ideas to receive
her freedom. When she was incarcerated, treated like an animal, beaten to a bloody pulp and
lost all basic human rights, she only grew more stronger and determined. Shakur was a political
prisoner and suffered because of her Black Panther Black Liberation Army affiliation. She spent
six years in prison for crimes that she was not proven to have done or had any connection to.

I think that the reading was worth my time. Most readings that I am forced to read do not peak my
interest. This work on the other hand was enjoyable because it was filled with information
regarding the work of communism. This book has to be considered one of many famous literary
works. It is hard to argue that the text is not worth reading. I don t believe in the ideas expressed
in the text, but I respect the impact that the novel has had on society. Communism was viewed as
such a scary topic for most of history and it was interesting to read about it. I am not sure why the

resistance to. In addition to this the Europeans considered themselves superior to the Native
Americans. Despite this, the Europeans and Native Americans, both had things the other wanted
and so they often engaged in trade with each other. However, the Native Americans thought that,

In this case, the rights of the casual worker were breached by his manager in the workplace and
those rights were Anti Discrimination and Unfair Dismissal which are considered as legal

Standards which are rights that are entitled to employees. This report also lists the rights of a

In this one sentence Flaubert not only gives example of how the works are repetitive, with
similar plots, and dying horses on every page, but he also manages to capture the clichГ©d,
melodramatic style of romance novels that makes them all seem the same. The repetitiveness
extends into real life as well, as Emma s love affairs constantly lose their fire and begin to
become routine, or, as Rodolphe notes, the charm of novelty, falling down slowly like a dress,

The feeling of superiority that the lathe gives Binet fits more obviously with Emma s action and
character. He uses his lathe with the jealousy of an artist and the egoism of a bourgeois (60). He
feels that his craftsmanship and dedication to the lathe make him superior to those deprived souls
that do not have one. We see these feelings firsthand when Binet suggests to Leon that he should
take up the lathe as a solution to his problems. When Leon admits that he knows nothing about
lathes, Binet replies That is true, and strok[es] his chain, with a look that mingle[s] disdain and
