How Do You Define Success Essay
Writing an essay on the concept of success is no easy feat. Success is a multifaceted and
subjective notion that can vary greatly from person to person. Defining success requires careful
consideration of various perspectives, cultural influences, personal experiences, and societal
norms. Crafting a coherent and insightful essay on such a broad and abstract topic demands
thorough research, critical thinking, and introspection.
One of the primary challenges in writing about success is the lack of a universally accepted
definition. Success can encompass achievements in career, education, relationships, personal
development, and more. Moreover, success is often intertwined with notions of happiness,
fulfillment, and purpose, adding layers of complexity to its interpretation. Attempting to
encapsulate all these dimensions within the confines of an essay requires precision in language
and depth of analysis.
Additionally, navigating the balance between objectivity and subjectivity poses a significant
challenge. While it's essential to provide evidence and examples to support one's definition of
success, it's equally important to acknowledge the diversity of perspectives and experiences.
What may constitute success for one individual or culture might not hold the same significance
for another. Acknowledging and addressing these differences while presenting a coherent
argument can be demanding.
Furthermore, writing about success necessitates self-reflection. It's challenging to explore the
concept of success without examining one's own values, aspirations, and biases. This
introspective process can be uncomfortable and requires honesty and vulnerability. It's not
merely an intellectual exercise but also a personal journey of understanding one's own beliefs and
motivations.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of success is a complex endeavor that demands
careful consideration of various perspectives, critical analysis, and self-reflection. It requires
navigating the ambiguity of the concept while maintaining coherence and relevance. However,
despite its challenges, delving into the intricacies of success can be a rewarding intellectual and
personal exploration.

Self Identity In Renaissance Plays
Self identity is a prominent notion in many Renaissance plays. Most of these plays
are concerned with deceit and change of identity. Oftentimes, the devious characters
are the ones who show a part of themselves at a certain point in the play and as the
story progresses they unveil a different side of them. In most of the Renaissance
dramas that were discussed, almost all the plays have at least one character with
questionable identity. This notion of identity is one of the most important themes in
Thomas Middletonand William Rowleys The Changeling. Fluid identity is seen in
characters such as Beatrice; however, De Florez s identity is more ambiguous and
should be analyzed differently. When a person s personality is solid and they are...

Bosola is one of the few characters that are so ambiguous that it is difficult to place
him into any type of mold. More specifically, his identity is one big question mark
because it can be seen very differently from different perspectives. At the beginning
of the play, in one of Bosola s first speeches, he portrays a secure character that sees
the two brothers for what they truly are. Bosola describes them as plum trees that
grow crooked over standing pools (1.1.49 50). Bosola s description leads the
reader to think of him as someone with a strong character who will not be pushed
around and dominated by the brothers who seem to be in control of every other
character s lives. Bosola s moral security is again reinforced when Ferdinand offers
him gold to spy on the duchess, but Bosola refuses, claiming that he will not be
bought, Take your devils, which hell calls angels! These cursed gifts would make you

Essay on Merck Case Study
Introduction to the Case First established in 1668 in Darmstadt, Germany, Merck is
currently (in 1978) one of the largest prescription drug producers in the world. After
coming off a 10 year drug drought in the late 1970s, Merck put a large amount of
money into research to continue its dominance in the prescription drug industry. The
research first approach worked and since then Merckhas increased sales
significantly. Merck s mission was well stated by founder George W. Merck. We try
never to forget that medicine is for the people...not for the profits (Bollier 3).

Cambell puts Merck in a difficult situation. First, Merck must choose a course of
action that is ethically responsible and is consistent with its mission of making
drugs to help people. Second, the option must address the reality that businesses
must make a profit to stay open, so it should also offer some type of benefit for the
company financially. One option for Merck is to proceed only with the drug
Ivomec for animals and not to develop a drug for river blindness. There is simply
not a large enough market that could afford any potential drug to help with river
blindness. A significant amount of research has already been put into Ivomec and
there is a high probability that Ivomec will be a financially successful product for
the business. This option would maximize the business profits and minimize its
risks. On the other hand, it is hard to justify such a course of action with the
mission of the business. Millions of people would continue to suffer from river
blindness. This option puts profits before the people and it could possibly result in
a negative backlash from the media. If Merck were to pursue such a route, measures
could still be taken to potentially help the victims of river blindness. Merck could
release its research on ivermectin to other drug companies, allowing them the
Analysis Of Sophocles Play Antigone
Throughout history, many cultures from around the world have set standards for
women to follow. In ancient Greece, women had just about the same rights and
freedom as slaves. A women would always live under the control of her father,
husband, or any other male relative at the time. Women did not leave the household
but instead they took care of it. Only wealthy women and that s not even half the
amount of the ladies that didn t have to work and just supervised slaves. The
treatment of males and females are not always equal. Equality is the matter of people
treating each other equally. Genderis a range of characteristics associated with males

Throughout the character of Antigone, women finally get to present real life
viewpoints about their character. The feminist movement has strongly been sought
equality between sexes of females and males. At certain times of the play of Antigone,
there are many points that an individual must analyze when considering themes.
There are many distinct actions going on at once and they all blend together to form
a strong story. Some of the main topics that are discussed in the play are pleasure, the
struggles of individuals, the threat of tyranny and a gender battle which the most
important part, dealing with the situation of women in society. Antigone wants
women to have as many opportunities as men and a woman s life should not be
predetermined because of her sex. Antigone starts the play with the idea of going
against men s rule over women, and later takes her plan into action, leading to the
death of Creon authority due to his inability to be flexible. For example, in the
play, Antigone is used as an example to show how the roles of women were heading
to change in society in a feminine perspective. A good way of saying it is like when
a dictator dies, his image and popularity dies with him, but when an individual that is
self sacrificing and independent dies, their legacy just begins. This statement could be

The Concepts Of Mental Models And The Fiedler
Contingency...
Following the theme of job dissatisfaction from the prior two discussion board
posts, this paper will address again the same topic, this time integrating the
concepts of Mental Models and the Fiedler Contingency Model. This will be done
through examining how these two concepts pertain to job dissatisfaction,
particularly what impact the presence or absence of these concepts has on the
satisfaction levels of employees in the workplace. Mental Models As a Marine, I
can speak without any lack of sincerity that we are an organization of Type A
personalities. As such, we find it difficult to participate in a task without being
somewhat OCD about its completion, both in regards to the speed and quality of
the results, with a particular emphasis on the speed factor. (Kroeger, Thuesen
Rutledge. 2002) With this quality in mind, one might assume that any working
group of Marines would be so task oriented that we would care more about the
completion of the mission, rather than the shared economy of labor between
individuals sharing that task. But even in a work group like ours, there is still
room for mental models of labor to impact the level of satisfaction individual
Marines have with their jobs. From my own experience as a leader, I can tell you
that one of the most frequent complaints from this group of type A warriors, is that
someone on their team isn t doing their job. Mental models can be thought of as the

The Similarities Of Charlemagne And The Medieval Age
During the time period of 400 A.D to 1500, otherwise known as the Medieval Age,
there lived a variety of important people to history, ranging from political characters
to simple yet dangerous travelers. Of all these important people, the political
character Charlemagne and the cultural icon Geoffrey Chaucer stand out as having
many similarities and a few differences that are worth describing in detail to really
see how alike people in the Medieval Age really were.
One similarity between Charlemagne and Geoffrey Chaucer is that they were both
the Father of something. This title meant that the person of interest played a big part
in a change that became the new norm for the rest of history. Charlemagne was
known as the Father of Europe and Geoffrey was known as the Father of English
Literature . Charlemagne was the former king of the Franks, king of the Lombards,
and was the first Roman emperor for the Holy Roman Empire. One of his reigns were
the Franks, which were a Germanic tribe in Belgium, France, Luxemburg, the
Netherlands, and western Germany. One of his main goals were to unite all Germanic
tribes under one kingdom and convert them to Christianity. It was because of
Charlemagne that Christianity remained relevant in the west because of all his
efforts. Another one of his main goals was the Carolingian Renaissance, which he
wanted to be a cultural and intellectual revival of Europe. This meant that he wanted
Europe to become fuller of culture and intellectual
Sitting In Chairs And A Little Marching Band
This concert was not like any other I have attended. Two groups known as Sitting
in Chairs and A Little Marching Band were linked together to create the Mucca
Pazza. Before going to see this concert, I expected to see another group of musicians
dressed in tuxedos and dresses while playing classical songs with violins and cellos.
However, I was shocked to see the attire they wore, and I was surprised to hear the
musicthey played. Both groups performed several songs that amounted to an
enjoyable and entertaining show. Because the groups performed a total of twenty
songs, I will go into detail about a few of which I thought were the most engaging
and amusing. Right off the bat I found Octopus Plus One , by Ronnie Kuller,
enjoyable. This song was performed by Sitting in Chairs. The joke one of the
musicians made about how it was music? was what peaked my interest. In the
beginning, the tonality is established right away as being mysterious and suspicious,
with a moderate amount of energy. As the song evolved, the tonality became more
jittery and energetic. In addition, the tempoincreased significantly from Andante at
the beginning to Allegro or even Vivace during the climax. Near the end of the song,
the tonality returned to being suspicious and mysterious, and the tempo slowed back
down to Adante. Concluding the piece was a finale that left the audience feeling
happy and upbeat. Because of the contrasting tonalities and the climax that occurred
in the middle of the work,

What do you think will be your greatest challenge?
On this trip, I anticipate communicating with people of a different culture may be a
challenge. Although I do not speak Brazilian Portuguese, I know that we will have a
bilingual interpreter with us as well as NJMS students who speak both languages and
thus, I know that the language barrier will not be a big challenge. More than the
language, I want to be contentious on this trip regarding acknowledging my
privileges and that I need to understand the Brazilian approach to medicine in the
context of their culture as well as the resources available to them. Furthermore, I
understand that I have limited knowledge and skills as a first year medical student
and so can only provide basic medical services at this time. Therefore, I am most
apprehensive about effectively understanding and communicating with the Brazilian
community and recognizing that currently I am only able to provide a limited amount
of aid to these communities.
4.How do you plan on financially supporting this endeavor? (Are you willing to
fundraise as a team, as well as apply to the available scholarships?)
I fully intend to apply to any available scholarships in order to fund this trip. I am
also looking forward to working with other students going on this trip in order to
organize fundraisers such as bake sales and raffles. I also intend to start a GoFundMe
page as well as seek out local businesses for sponsorship. Finally,

The greatest start to the best speech is a good topic. The topic needs to be modern,
up to date, interesting and fun. All of this is depending on your audience as well,
so you wouldn t want to give a speech on the first phones invented to fifth graders.
The topic should appeal to the audience, and since most of my speeches will be
done in my communication class my audience will be current college students just
like myself. This makes it a little easier preparing a speechbecause I am a college
student as well, so I have a bit of an idea of what may or may not appeal to my
audience. There are many things that I need to consider before giving a speech,
things like, how to be fully prepared with my information, how to not bore my

And being a college student myself I know how easy it is to lose attention on
something. So I need to make sure during my speech to make it interesting and bring
a visual aide because I know that, that may help me share my information better with
students who learn better with visual aids as well as I do. As stated in our Frealeigh
and Tuman textbook If you want audience members to actively listen to your speech
and ignore everything else going on you must motivate them to focus on what you re
saying. By selection supporting materials that appeal to your listeners interest, you
sweeten the odds that they will pay attention to you. So with this I feel that by getting
something that most of my classmates or audience can connect with, will make them
feel the need to pay attention to what I m saying and actually have their full attention
the entire time.
I feel like also learning what my classmate s interests are may help me grab and
keep their attention longer. Learning how to connect my topic to things they may
like, for instance sports, famous people, or politics may help me peek their interest
and keep their mind on me and what I am saying rather than looking around or look

The Sacred Space And Sacred Spaces Forged By The Divine
Since their creation, humans have sought to find meaning from the mundane
existence of mortality. This quest for answers has motivated many to seek out the
divine and sacred spaces forged by the divine. Biblical scholar and historian Mircea
Eliade argues that, man becomes aware of the sacred because it manifests itself
[and] to designate the act of manifestations of the sacred [is the] proposed term
hierophany (Eliade 1959: 11). In other words, a hierophany exists when the divine
chooses to reveal himself, by defining a space or object as sacred through the divine s
presence. After a hierophany occurs, the chosen object or space is deemed an axis
mundi. Eliade defines axis mundi as, a universal pillar which at once connects and
supports heaven and earth and whose base is fixed in the world below (Eliade 1959:
36). Using a comparative analysis of biblical texts and scholarly articles, this paper
will discuss how a sacred space, specifically Jerusalem, manifests itself through God
s choosing. Therefore Jerusalem is the holy dwelling place of the divine, because
God chose it through his application of multiple hierophanies and his establishment
of axes mundi within the city s walls. Jerusalem as a sacred dwelling place is
reflected though its similarities to the Garden of Eden, where God created the first
human beings on earth. In Genesis 2, God had planted a garden in the east, [and] a
river watering the garden flowed from Eden, there it was separated into four

* Summarize three primary reasons that turn is so high in this is industry.
1. One reason for the high turnover rate of hospitality staff is the fact that many
hospitality jobs do not pay well. Personnel usually begin at a lowest wage rate or
below which does not fascinate top eminence long term employees because these
employees are always looking for a better paying position. Situations that pay below
tiniest net depend entirely on customer satisfaction and liberality. Tips . Around the
world, the average beginning wait staff personnel is paid $2.15 per hour by their
employer. The rest of their revenue is based pay on the urge of their customers.
Monetary turn downs mean fewer consumers, which in turn shrinkage is wage
potential. Add this to the fact that many hospitality positions are seasonal and it is not
hard to see why hospitality staff turnover can reach high rates quickly.
2. The second reason for high rates of hospitality staff turnover include deficiency
of plentiful doles such as company provided health insurance, retirement benefits,
vacation pay, sick leave, additional schooling or exercise programs and other
peripheral benefits which are so often perks of other industries. Since the labor pool
for a large portion of hospitality jobs is so poor and turnover is so high, a majority
of hospitality companies are unwilling to capitalize in programs which would

Yes, it can be the best tools to have more than one independent variables as there is
no limitation for a single variable to be affecting entirely on the dependent variable.
It is thus, the way to manage and check more than one variables for which one is

Night Shift Nursing Research Paper
Developing a Staff Recognition Program for Night Shift Nurses
Nurses are some of the hardest working individuals on the planet. They work
tirelessly to help those who come through the hospital doors. Often, their hard work
goes unnoticed and unappreciated. This is especially true for nurses who work the
night shift.
Fortunately, there are many ways that HR managers can show their appreciation to
the hard work that these individuals offer to the hospital. One of the best ways to do
this is by setting up a staff recognition program. Here are a few ways that HR
managers can show their appreciation to the nurses of the night shift.
Gift Cards
These are possibly one of the most valuable things that a person can receive. By
giving gift cards to nurses, HR will be providing them with a unique benefit. With
these gift cards, the nurses will be able to reward themselves in a way that will be

great way to reward hardworking night shift nurses. Not only will this allow the

Daytime Outings
Another concern that many HR managers deal with when looking to improve the
morale of night shift nurses is the fact that many deal with feelings of isolation. Since
they are not able to participate in many events that are geared more towards daytime
workers, nurses may find that they miss out on many activities. One way to
counteract this situation is to set up outings that night shift nurses can participate in
while they are not working. This could be a company provided meal or fun activities
that the nurses can do together.

Emotional Abuse In Australia
Emotional abuse is when a caregiver fails to support a child and supply them with the
security and love they need. Emotional abuse also establishes whether the child s
relationship with the caregiver and the environment they are in is troubled,
intimidating or whether they cannot support the child s healthy development. There
are currently 16,093 children in Australia s society today that are emotionally abused
by caregivers and adults.
11,194 children and neglected and are negligently treated in their homes in today s

Silk soon became an imperial monopoly, and through this way, the trade of luxury
items became the Byzantine s main source of income. The location of Constantinople
also aided in military conquest and defence, for the empire s naval headquarters
were located along the shores, and had access to the Black Sea and Mediterranean.
Because of the Empire s location, all but overlapping the fallen Roman s territory, the
Byzantine Empire was greatly affected by these Roman s past traditions and ways of

The Roman Empire influenced the Byzantine Empire s culture, mainly through the
religion of Christianity. Christianity first appeared in the Roman Empire, with the

it s arrival, Christianity was not tolerated and Christians were mainly, and most often
brutally prosecuted. However, with Constantine s Edict of Milan, Christianity was
officially tolerated, and under Theodosius, it became the official religion of the
Roman Empire. The Byzantine Empire inherited this relatively new religion,
continuing to follow the beliefs and traditions of the church, as well as spreading the
word of Jesus Christ and the message of god. Churches sprung up in the empire, such
as the mighty Hagia Sophia. Located in Constantinople and built by Justinian, this
church especially exemplified
Difference Between Rule Based Approach In Accounting

Alcoholism Essay
Alcholism
There are several different ways to describe substance abuse. So many people think
that substance abuse only pertains to alcoholism. There is several other substances
that may cause someone to be diagnosed with substance abuse disorder. Some of
those things include: marijuana, alcohol, stimulants(cocaine and amphetamines),
Hallucinogens, Inhalants, sedatives, and even nicotine. Even though some people
may not see some of these things as things that may become addicting they are. More
and more people are becoming addicted to the smallest things such as alcohol. For
hundreds and thousands of American citizens alcoholism is become far too common.

Additionally, like many other drug abusers, alcoholics often drink hoping to drown
anxious or depressed feelings. Some alcoholics drink to reduce strong inhibitions or
guilt about expressing negative feelings.
Social and cultural factors play roles in to establishing drinking patterns and the
development of alcoholism. In some cultures, there is conflict between abstaining
and accepting the use of alcohol as a way to change moods or to be social, thus
making it difficult for some people to develop stable attitudes about and moderate
patterns of drinking. Society tends to aid in the development of alcoholism by
making alcohol seem glamorous, showing that by drinking, you will become more
popular, more glamorous and more worthy of respects from others.
The physical effects of alcoholism are somewhat gruesome. Excessive in take and
prolonged use of alcohol can cause serious disturbances in body chemistry
Many alcoholics exhibit swollen and tender livers. The prolonged use of large
amounts of alcoholism without adequate diet may cause serious liver damage, such
as cirrhosis of the liver (McCarthy 505). Alcoholism also causes loss of muscular
control.
The condition delirium tremens, known primarily to heavy drinkers, causes
hallucinations along with loss of control of muscular functioning. When this
condition develops and the alcoholic slows their drinking, withdrawal
The Color Purple Analysis
Thinking Ahead of Her Times
Treating women properly with dignity and respect has commonly been an issue
because it has been a constant struggle for them to gain it throughout history. This
controversy goes way back to the early twentieth century and in The Color Purple
by Alice Walker, we clearly see how women are not given the respect or dignity they
deserve. Although people seem to not recognize it as a problem, this issue must be
addressed. In The Color Purple one definitely sees how Celie represents a repressed
woman and how she learns to fight back over time to overcome her struggles in life.
In The Color Purple, Celie a young black girl who lived in Georgia was very bright
and wrote countless letters to God. These letters contained horrid experiences Celie
went through. She was constantly subjected to abuse and told she was ugly. So
these letters became an outlet for her to cope with her situation. The letters also
show how Celie has pulled through numerous struggles she endured starting from
the age of 14 and ending up into her mid forties. Although Celie has her doubt that
God even takes her concerns into consideration, these letters serve as a type of
therapy to help her ease her suffering. Having gone through countless unbelievable
troubles, Celie feels she can express her private thoughts and feelings freely. Celie
knows that Nettie, her dear sister is not receiving the letters as Mr. _____ hides them
from Nettie so that she cannot receive them.

The Consequences of Noncompliance Introduction This paper is about the changes
in the HIPAA Privacy and Security rules and its impact on the health care industry,
this paper will show how the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) is increasingly
modifying the Act to match the technological advancements within the health arena.
The paper will also elaborate on some of the consequences of violating HIPAA and
some case examples are cited in this paper. The last section of this paper enumerates
how this course has allowed me to reflect on the Benedictine Hallmarks of
Conversatio which hinges on forming and transforming oneself. Finally, an informed
conclusion is drawn from my research on the consequences of violating HIPAA in
the healthcare industry. The Consequences of Noncompliance with HIPAA The
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) was enacted in 1996
to protect employees health insurance coverage when they lose or change jobs. It
also has provisions that ensure the privacy and confidentiality of identifiable health
information. According to the HHS web page (2016), the major goal of the Privacy
Rule is to assure that individuals health information is properly protected while
allowing the flow of health information needed to provide and promote high quality
health care, and to protect the public s health and wellbeing. Therefore, to
appropriately enforce and regulate HIPAA, certain protocols and noncompliance

Social Stereotypes In Zootopia
Quote: Because he s a sloth he can t be fast
This quote is a great example of a stereotype. Judy made an incorrect statement about
a sloth just because of what type of animal he was. This statement was later proven
not true, as the sloth was speeding throughout the streets of Zootopia.
Concepts
Stereotypes: Generalized (sometimes accurate but often overgeneralized) beliefs
about a group of people. Throughout the movie, there are a lot of stereotypes
evident. The main one is that predators are bad, and prey is good. Many believed in
the movie that the predators could not be trusted after all the attacks that were
happening, but that was not true. The rare cases of a predator going savage was due
to toxic flowers.
Discrimination: Unjustifiable negative behavior toward a group or its members. In
Zootopia, an act of discrimination is seen in a flashback when Nick Wilde is joining
the Ranger Scouts. In this scene, the members of the scouts put a muzzle on him just
because he is a fox and They cannot trust a fox .
Situational Attribution: Believing the cause of a behavior is based on the person s
situation, not their attitude. An example of this in the movie was when Judy found
out the reason for predators going savage was due to the flowers, not due to their
attitudes or genetics.
Dispositional Attribution: Believing that the cause of a behavior is based on the
person s attitude, not situation. In the scene where Nick Wilde was trying to buy a
popsicle for his son , Judy assumed that he was a great father. However, he was just
trying to hustle her out of a free popsicle to sell later.
Conformity: Adjusting one s behavior or thinking to coincide with a group standard.
In the movie, when Judy said that she though that the predator s attacks were due to
genetics, everyone conformed to this idea. The prey started to separate themselves
from the prey and conform to this idea.
Normative Social Influence: Influence resulting from a person s desire to gain
approval or disapproval. In the movie, Judy Hopps works extra hard while on parking
duty to get approval from Chief Bogo and get more interesting cases.
Deindividuation: The loss of self awareness and self restraint occurring in group
situations that foster
Differences Between Wesfarmers And Woolworths
Bond valuation is a technique for determining the fair value of a particular bond
and includes calculating the present value of the bond s future interest payments
and the bond s value upon maturity (Investopedia , 2017). After calculations,
Wesfarmers Limited bonds were valued at $120.38 whereas Woolworths Limited
bonds was valued at $117.93 within three years based on a par value of $100.00.
See Appendix C, Figure I for workings. Both Wesfarmers and Woolworths bonds are
premium because they are worth more than their face value which means anytime the
yield to maturity is less than the coupon rate, you have a premium bond. According
to Titan et al, bond ratings are assessments of the creditworthiness of the bond issuer
(Times, 2017, p. 619).
Theme Of Inequality In One Foot In Eden
A problem that many couples in America face today is infertility. Infertility is the
inability to conceive children. More than 6.1 million Americans are currently
declared infertile this account for 10% of Americans in the child bearing age
(Cooper Hilbert). This is not only a problem in our world today but also in the
book One Foot in Eden by Ron Rash this is a problem that affects many of the
charters. In the book it discusses the backgrounds of each character and talks about
what problems they face, and infertility is one of them that shows up more than once.
In the book the Sheriff and his wife are affected by infertility because their marriage
will never be the same. Also, the main charters Amy and Billy are affected by
infertility because of the way other people will view Billy and Billy will now see
Amy differently.
Infertility is a big topic in the book One Foot in Eden by Ron Rash. This affects
many charters in the story like the Sheriff and his wife. The sheriff and his wife are
happily married but the moment that changed them forever was the night the
sheriff s wife woke up bleeding. The sheriff s wife had a miscarriage and was told
that she was infertile. This made them very distant from each other This is the
same case with Amy and Billy but a different scenario. Billy is told that his sperm
count is to low to have kids and is declared infertile. Doctor Wilkins looked under the
microscope... He finally took his eyeball off the microscope and said I can t find a
Differences Between The Indian National Congress And
The...
Apart from religious and sectarian tensions between Hindus and Muslims, an
ideological difference between the Indian National Congress and the Muslim League
is another key factor which led to the partition.
Differences between the Muslim League and the Indian national congress can be
traced back till The Indian National Congress founded in 1885. Originally Indian
National Congress was founded to elevate economic changes and to influence the
policies of the British rule. Through forming the Indian National Congress by western
educated Hindu aristocrats, gave birth to a lot of resentment and dissatisfaction
among the Indian Muslims. The relationship between Muslim and the Congress saw
many disruptions sometimes they cooperated and sometimes they stood on
completely opposite sides. The relationship between Congress and the Muslim league

From the start congress had shown interest to safeguard the rights of Hindus only.
The prediction of Sir Sayed Ahmed Khan seemed to be proven to Indian Muslims
that, Hindus and Muslims are two different nations who have different Ideologies. 1
So the several events strengthened the desire of the Indian Muslims to organize
themselves as a Separate Community like Urdu Hindi controversy, partition of
Bengal and its which gave Birth to the All India Muslims Leagues on 30th December
1906. The objectives of the Muslim League were; to safeguard the rights of Muslims
and to bring muslins in the notice of the government, to prevent the rise of prejudicial
feelings among the Muslims against other communities of India and the last one was
to create the feelings of loyalty towards the British Government among the Muslims.
So overall this phase was the inception of both parties which believed in
Memory Foam
If you are thinking about purchasing a memory foam mattress and really do not
know anything other than what you have heard through television ads, then you
will first need to understand exactly what memory foam is and how it works to
ensure that you pick the best mattress for you. Memory foam, in its primitive stage
was first used by NASA in the 1970s for space missions. The prototypes were thin
in appearance and over time, cracked. But they served the purpose in providing
comfort to the astronaut while on space missions. Over time, memory foam has been
transformed and manufactured by several companies, all of which proclaim their
version to be the best. These mattresses are now quite durable and thick, yet very soft
and spongy to the touch.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not all memory foam mattresses are the same, though. There are certain aspects
that you have to look for, one being the density range. Since memory foam is a soft
surface you will need something supportive at the base. The entire mattress should
never be solely memory foam. Memory foam by itself is too soft and will not
provide adequate support. Added over a firm material, however, it creates the
perfect combination for a good nights rest. Two other features that you will want to
look for are temperature and filling. A lower temperature will result in a firm
surface while higher temperatures result in a softer surface. If you do not want to
buy a full mattress, you can buy a mattress topper that comes in a variety of
temperatures. Filler should be quality and not cheap. Some manufacturers fill the
mattress with sand so be sure to find out what the filler is prior to purchasing. The
best memory foam mattress should also have a depth of three to five inches as any
less or more will result in less support. Remember that cheaper is not always better.
Some of the cheaper models are filled with sand rather than a high quality filling,
ensuring your
Essay On Acid Base Imbalance
Alkalosis is a medical condition in which the body s acid base ratio is thrown out
of balance because there is excess base in the body. On the other end of the
spectrum, acidosis is a medical condition in which there is too much acid in the
body, which also causes an acid base imbalance. For this assignment, I will be
explaining two types of each acid base imbalance, including the following conditions:
respiratory acidosis, metabolic acidosis, respiratory alkalosis, and metabolic alkalosis.
In respiratory acidosis, there is a characteristic PCO2 level of above 45 mmHg and
a pH below 7.35. Common causes for this condition include: diseases of the airways
(such as asthma and emphysema), diseases of the chest (such as scoliosis),
pulmonary edema, severe obesity, obstructive sleep apnea, and other diseases that
compromise the muscles and nerves used to promote inhalation and exhalation
(Medline Plus,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In metabolic alkalosis, there is a characteristic HCO3 level of above 26 mEq/liter and
a pH above 7.45. Common causes for this condition include the use of diuretics,
excessive intake of antacids, severe dehydration, and the loss of gastric secretions
through vomiting. Respiratory compensation through hypoventilation may bring blood
pH into the normal range (Tortora Derrickson, 2013). Medical treatment includes IV
fluids and, in more severe cases, hemodialysis or hemofiltration. Homeopathic
treatments for both respiratory acidosis and metabolic acidosis include eating
raisins, spinach, and tomatoes because all three of these fruits and vegetables are
alkaline in nature and will help increase the alkalinity of the blood and neutralize
acids in the body (Natural Home Remedies, 2013). Homeopathic treatments for both
respiratory alkalosis and metabolic alkalosis include breathing into a paper bag,
eating citrus fruits, drinking cranberry juice, and sipping a mixture of salt and sugar
in water (Home Remedy List,
Ecological Benefits Of Forest Fires
Forest Fires Forest fires are part of nature that will always keep on occurring, and
they can be very disastrous. In fact most forest fires are started by humans, when
they don t know it. However, forest fires are necessary for plants health, by offering
many ecological benefits. There are also actual forests fires that are permitted to
burn that are not fought for that purpose. Then again, if forest fires occur and are
not permitted, firefighters need to take action in their many ways. Therefore,
forests fires often start by humans, has many ecological benefits, and are fought in
many ways. Ecological Benefits Many people think of forest fires as bad and
disastrous as figure 1 shows, but what they don t know is that forest fires have
great benefits to the environment. Some say that large forest fires are like shots
of adrenaline that stimulate biodiversity (Robbins). Without these fires many
plants would not be able to grow in their natural way. Those fires recycle nutrients,
and create substances that plants need for growth. Fires also clear trees and some
vegetation that can prevent new tree growth. In fact, some species of Pine and Oak
trees grow best when forest fires occur (Parker). Also, some tree species need very
high temperatures for their seeds to sprout (Cooper). Foresters can actually permit
certain forest fires to occur due to all the ecological benefits. These fires are set by
firemen in safe conditions far from human life with low winds and high humidity
Being Original Is More Important Than Fitting In Essay
Lauren Willcox ,a famous writer, once said, Being original is more important than
fitting in, especially if you have to change to fit in. This quote demonstrates how
fitting in and being original is a daily struggle amongst people. Along with fitting
in many people judge others before looking at their point of view or learning the
struggles they may be facing. Taking a walk in someone s else s shoes or seeing
their point of view may turn a negative situation into a positive one. A past
experience of mine has resurfaced in my head and allowed me to realize the other
person s perspective on the situation.
It all started on a sunny day in August three days before my freshman year in high
school. The pure fear and anxiousness of high school had kept me up all night. A
transition from middle school to high school is no joke and the thought of 1,000
plus students tore me apart. My parents have always taught me to work hard for
what you want because things aren t going to come free. I was unlike most students
my age, because I didn t have the newest technology and that scared me even more. I

reference. For an example, I learned that fitting in doesn t matter because being

learned that putting your parents up against each other causes family tension and
makes you the bad person. I gained a new understanding of how hard parents work
to provide for their children and always tell your mom even if you may not get the
answer you want. At the end of the day I still have my Iphone today but if I waited
a few more months I could ve had an Iphone and my Ipod
Interview With Pascal Robidas
For my interview, I was fortunate enough to get ahold of a man who works for a
major local news station known as RDI or Radio Canada. His name, Pascal
Robidas, a thirty six year old television news reporter. I met him through my uncle
who lives in the same triplex as him. Throughout our fascinating forty five minute
long interview, I learnt so much more about his life and job than by reading a book
on the subject.
Pascal was born in 1980 in Macao, China. At fourteen months old, he was given up
for adoption. The family that took him home was the Robidas from Kingsey Falls,
Quebec. Kingsey Falls is a town thirty km east of drummondville au centre du

When there,he noticed several professional television reporters on the other side

accident in 2007 during a lockout when he was invited to work on the show of a
Quebec news icon known as Jean Luc Mongrain at TQS.Only working there for
two short years, he still managed to learn as much about his trade as he could,
while also working next to one of his idols. The most memorable thing about
Mongrain that Pascal remembers was that he was really passionate about his line
of work and told it as it was, never sugarcoating anything. Pascale eventually left the
station momentarily before it s collapse in September of 2008. From there, he
applied, passed the test, and got the job where he has been working at ever since for
eight years at Radio Canada as a television
Cultural Values In Gabriel Garcia Marquez s Chronicle Of
A...
Gabriel Garcia Marques provides a unique platform in his novella, Chronicle of a
Death Foretold (COADF) to analyze facets of traditional Colombian values. The
characters provide context regarding particular sectors of religion, cultural values and
social norms throughout the novel. Marquez highlights a multitude of cultural
juxtapositions throughout all of his novels, however, COADF in particular comments
on the social hypocrisy of religion and the double standards due to gender norms
throughout the novel. In the novella, Angela Vicario s character highlights misguided
principles and helps to understand how women and other groups of people in the
country are maltreated. Common themes throughout the novel often victimize Angela
Vicario, such as sexual identity, alcohol abuse and religious scrutiny. Marquez
conveys these themes through imagery, symbolism, allegory and most especially
periphrasis. This paper will effectively highlight how these factors demonstrate the
cultural discrepancy in allowance of freedoms and the roles of women in the novel,
and broader country. Periphrasis is often considered to be a dreary, poorly written
selection of a novel. Readers often misunderstand its significance; however, Marquez
is able to effectively use the literary device to provide contextual evidence for his
characters. When painting traditional scenes of culture, especially through the magical
realist lens that Marquez utilizes, periphrasis allows for an in depth platform and
Songs That Have Stood the Test of Time and Geography
Part 1 Background and Identification There are quite a number of songs that have
stood the test of time and geography to remain as vital and popular today as they
were when first composed. Perhaps it is because some of these songs simply
transcend time and place and appeal to the core of human emotion. Who cannot feel a
thrill of excitement and humanity at the finale of Beethoven s 9th Symphony, or shed
a tear at a favorite Christmas carol? One song that fits this transcendence is La Vie
En Rose, literally, Life in Pink. This was first made popular in 1946 by French
torch singer Edith Piaf. Translated from the French idiom, the piece means seeing
life through rose colored glasses, rather perfect for Piaff s life and vocal talent, and
even more perfect for a world turned upside down because of World War II. At first,
Piaf s colleagues and team did not think the song would be at all successful, yet it
became a favorite with audiences around the world, and Piaf s signature song (Bret,
2009). The song quickly became so popular it was translated into several languages,
and then the greatest compliment of all imitated by singers in many different
genres. Ironic since the words were almost hastily scribbled on a cocktail napkin
while Piaf was drinking with her friend Marianne Michel at a cafГѓ on the Champs
Elysees (Burke, 2011, p. 118). Also, besides over 50 artists interpreting and
recording the work, it was recently made into a stage play and surprisingly successful
Persuasive Speech For Speech
SUMMER! It s that time of year again and with that comes summer break! , a
phrase that brings joy and a bit of nervousness for parents. As a speech language
pathologist, a question heard often from families this time of year is what can we
do at home? . We love this question, because speech practice can be done from
anywhere! I wanted to share with you a few ideas that can be quick, easy, effective,
and FUN.
1.Chalk
Chalk is a must have for summer days. As a child, I can remember drawing endless
hopscotch mazes in the cul de sac with my neighbors and racing to the finish line.
Let your kids have a great time being creative and creating their own courses on the
driveway, but encourage them to practice their speech sounds. For example, you or
your child could write or draw pictures of speech words in each square of hopscotch,
so that each time they jump on a square, they practice saying the words.
I also love tracing bodies in chalk and decorating them with funny faces, clothes, etc.
This gives your child opportunity to describe the person, label items, or tell a story
about what the person is doing.
2.Scavenger Hunt
Scavenger hunts are so fun and can be so beneficial for speech and language goals.
For a child working on speech sounds, you could hide objects or pictures with their
sound and let them find them as fast as they can! As they find them, they can say the
word 5 times or describe where it is using prepositions ( under the trampoline ).
They can also practice inferences or guess where the next item will be ( I think the
tennis ball will be in the mailbox ). This is also fun as a flash light scavenger hunt .
You can tape your practice words around the house and turn off the lights or hide
objects outside at night time. Hand your child a flashlight and then go find the
words! They can say each word as they find them!
3.I spy
This is a favorite of mine, because it can be easily adapted to match your child s
goals, and you can never go wrong with a game of I Spy . For younger children who
are working on building vocabulary, this will give them a chance to identify and
label objects and actions around the house, playground, beach, outside, etc. This is
also a great time for you to draw their
Reducing Public Services
Yet another set of cuts is now foreseen to our beleaguered local service, just days
after announcements were made regarding consultations on reducing children s
services, school buses and, well, just about anything you can think of which serves
the public basically.
This time the council is proposing reviewing the timetables of a number of bus
services in and around Witney, but also other rural areas of the County. I can t
comment on services in other neighbourhoods, but our 18 and 19 routes are for
many people a lifeline. For the elderly, unemployed, disabled and youths buses are
the one and only form of transport available to them to get them into the main
business centres of Witney and Oxford.
The council is proposing reducing these services from hourly to two hourly. If you
have opened the consultation papers online you would have noticed that this would
save the council at most under ВЈ200,000 a sum which is insignificant in the annual
transport budget of just over ВЈ53 million, but one with severe repercussions for
many.
The view of the Green Party is simple. We can t justify the existence of public
services just on the basis of a crude income and expenditure analysis. In the instance
of transport a proper cost benefit analysis should take into account matters such as
benefit to the environment, sustainability and overall services distribution. In this
context reducing buses in rural areas would clearly make no sense whatsoever.

The Relationship Between Antony And Cleopatra
Shelia Ager s article, Marriage or mirage? The Phantom Wedding of Cleopatra and
Antony, looks to discuss any evidence for a wedding between Cleopatra VII and
Marc Antony and conclude whether this event really happened or if it is a myth.
Cleopatra and Marc Antony famously had an affair, resulting in children. They lived
and planned with one another, presenting themselves as a couple. They attempted to
conquer land with one another, establishing themselves and their children as the
rulers of multiple kingdoms. However, there are disputes over whether a legal
marriageor even a wedding occurred between them. There are no explicit records
from ancient authors about a marriage, and with two highly public figures records
should exist. Ager makes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Romans had laws against foreign marriages and Cleopatra was nearly the
epitome of everything non Roman. Antony and Octavian had a complicated
relationship, ending in Octavian defeating both him and Cleopatra. Antony knew
that marrying Cleopatra before 32 BC was dangerous, as his wife, Octavia, was
Octavian s sister. Having two wives was illegal, but also abandoning a member of
Octavian s family, would have broken the relationship much quicker. There is no
doubt about a relationship between Antony and Cleopatra; they had children
together and presented themselves alongside one another. The coinage of the two
can be seen as them presenting their marriage. On the other hand, it could simply
mean that they had a political relationship more than a romantic relationship. For
some, that would mean that they needed to marry each other. However, for the
power that each person held, a marriage would not have been so heavily enforced.
For people of the upper class, some rules dictated by society did not always apply to
them. Modern and ancient ideals about marriage does not translate to every situation
flawlessly. Ager s main point is that there is no hard evidence for a marriage or a
wedding, dubbing it a phantom

After his death in 1560, the same was handed over to Mehraj. Mehraj s grandson
Mohan was pestered by Muslim Bhattis and he left Bidowali for some time in 1618
and came to the Bathinda area. According to one description, Mohan and his son
Roop Chand laid their lives in 1632 during a fight with Muslim Bhattis. Mohan s
son Kala was also an ardent follower of the sixth Guru. When Shah Jehan s army
attacked the Guru in 1635 at Lehra near Mehraj, Kala along with his clan sided
firmly with him. The Guru ended victorious. A happy Guru Har Gobind asked
Kala Brar to fence as much land he wanted to. By evening, Kala had marked twenty
two villages and put his fence (Morhi) into the ground. The Bhullar Jats, who
considered themselves to be the original dwellers and owners of this area removed
his fence and threw it into a well. When Kala complained against this to the Guru,
he remarked: Bhai Kala, your roots have reached to the other world. Hence, Kala
founded a village and named it as Mehraj.

A Speech On Women s Rights
I wonder why we take from our women why we rape our women, do we hate our
women? I think it s time to kill for our women (Tupac) this is a line from Tupac s
song titled Keep your head up where he talks about all the wrong men do to
women. Women have always been look at as less than a man and in the 1960 s the
women were at an all time high with being fed up with being looked at as less and
fought for equal rights for women. Shirley Chisholm was one of the biggest leaders
for women s rightsbut not only did she fight women s rights she was a black women
so he was also apart of the civil rights movements. May 21st 1969 Shirley Chisholm
delivered a speech in front of the house of representatives where she points out all the
wrongs that are being done to women in the job force.
Mrs. Shirley Chisholm starts her speech with a very strong point in my opinion by
saying that when a young women graduates from college and goes off to look for
work the the thing that she will be asked is if she can type. Now that question is
obviously disrespectful to a young lady who just put in a lot of work to graduate

Rebellion In John Updike s A P
The story A P by John Updike features a boy named Sammy that seems to rebel
against everything. Sammy is a rebel without a cause Ultimately, because he quits
his job over a situation uninvolved with him. A rebel without a cause is somebody
who seems to rebel against anything without having a reason. Throughout the story
Sammy is watching a bunch of girls in bikinis wander around the store he works in.
While he is watching them, he ignores a person at his register and scans their item
twice. When the person gets angry about this, Sammy explains the situation as if the
customer is in the wrong by calling her a witch and a cash register watcher . This is
the first time Sammy shows pointless rebellion. Later, the store s manager comes
Physics of Karate Essay
The basic ideas behind any style of karate can in general be reduced to the goal of
achieving the most effective movements with the least effort. Specifically, with a
strike such as a punch, kick, knife hand or similar, the karateka attempts to move
smoothly through the strikes, conserving energy towards the impact point. When
thought about in terms of energy, the most common equation is that of rotational
kinetic energy, or KE=(1/2)mv^2 + (1/2)Iω^2.
Another way to think about a strike is to attempt to focus as much force as possible
at the point of impact. In many strikes, this is facilitated by drawing an almost
straight line with the striking tool from the original point of rest to the point of
impact. This is based on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The feet are placed about shoulder width apart, the front leg is bent so that the toes
cannot be seen, the back leg is straight, and there is constant pressure down through
the heel of the back leg. The upper body should be leaned very slightly forward in
preperation of movement, and the torso and hips dropped downwards to ground the
stance.
Because this is a stable stance, the various forces acting on the body must be
equalized somehow. The main force is the one caused by extension of the back leg
into the ground (a). This is held in check by dropping the torso into the stance and
allowing the friction on the front foot from the ground, Ојb + ~(1/3)Ојmg where Ој is
the coefficient of static friction, and b is the force of the body attempting to move
forward due to a, and the tensing of the front leg quads to keep the stance in place.
If the stance is correct, this force is easily released to throw into techniques, either by
using it as a spring to pull the reverse leg forward for a kick, or by rotating the body or
otherwise neutralizing the check imposed by the front leg to throw some other
technique, such as a punch.

A reverse punch is a punch thrown over the back leg. For example, from a front
stance with the right leg back, a reverse punch would be executed with the right arm.

How Do You Define Success Essay.pdfHow Do You Define Success Essay. ️ An essay about success. Essay on Success. 2019-03-01

  • 1. How Do You Define Success Essay Writing an essay on the concept of success is no easy feat. Success is a multifaceted and subjective notion that can vary greatly from person to person. Defining success requires careful consideration of various perspectives, cultural influences, personal experiences, and societal norms. Crafting a coherent and insightful essay on such a broad and abstract topic demands thorough research, critical thinking, and introspection. One of the primary challenges in writing about success is the lack of a universally accepted definition. Success can encompass achievements in career, education, relationships, personal development, and more. Moreover, success is often intertwined with notions of happiness, fulfillment, and purpose, adding layers of complexity to its interpretation. Attempting to encapsulate all these dimensions within the confines of an essay requires precision in language and depth of analysis. Additionally, navigating the balance between objectivity and subjectivity poses a significant challenge. While it's essential to provide evidence and examples to support one's definition of success, it's equally important to acknowledge the diversity of perspectives and experiences. What may constitute success for one individual or culture might not hold the same significance for another. Acknowledging and addressing these differences while presenting a coherent argument can be demanding. Furthermore, writing about success necessitates self-reflection. It's challenging to explore the concept of success without examining one's own values, aspirations, and biases. This introspective process can be uncomfortable and requires honesty and vulnerability. It's not merely an intellectual exercise but also a personal journey of understanding one's own beliefs and motivations. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of success is a complex endeavor that demands careful consideration of various perspectives, critical analysis, and self-reflection. It requires navigating the ambiguity of the concept while maintaining coherence and relevance. However, despite its challenges, delving into the intricacies of success can be a rewarding intellectual and personal exploration. Similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net. Oftentimes, the devious characters are the ones who show a part of themselves at a certain point in the play and as the story progresses they unveil a different side of them. In most of the Renaissance dramas that were discussed, almost all the plays have at least one character with questionable identity. This notion of identity is one of the most important themes in Thomas Middletonand William Rowleys The Changeling. Bosola describes them as plum trees that grow crooked over standing pools (1.1.49 50). Bosola s description leads the reader to think of him as someone with a strong character who will not be pushed around and dominated by the brothers who seem to be in control of every other character s lives. One option for Merck is to proceed only with the drug Ivomec for animals and not to develop a drug for river blindness. There is simply not a large enough market that could afford any potential drug to help with river blindness. A significant amount of research has already been put into Ivomec and there is a high probability that Ivomec will be a financially successful product for the business. This option would maximize the business profits and minimize its risks. On the other hand, it is hard to justify such a course of action with the mission of the business. Millions of people would continue to suffer from river blindness. This option puts profits before the people and it could possibly result in a negative backlash from the media. If Merck were to pursue such a route, measures could still be taken to potentially help the victims of river blindness. Following the theme of job dissatisfaction from the prior two discussion board posts, this paper will address again the same topic, this time integrating the concepts of Mental Models and the Fiedler Contingency Model. This will be done through examining how these two concepts pertain to job dissatisfaction, particularly what impact the presence or absence of these concepts has on the satisfaction levels of employees in the workplace. Mental Models As a Marine, I can speak without any lack of sincerity that we are an organization of Type A personalities. As such, we find it difficult to participate in a task without being somewhat OCD about its completion, both in regards to the speed and quality of the results, with a particular emphasis on the speed factor. (Kroeger, Thuesen Rutledge. 2002) With this quality in mind, one might assume that any working group of Marines would be so task oriented that we would care more about the completion of the mission, rather than the shared economy of labor between individuals sharing that task. But even in a work group like ours, there is still room for mental models of labor to impact the level of satisfaction individual Marines have with their jobs. From my own experience as a leader, I can tell you that one of the most frequent complaints from this group of type A warriors, is that someone on their team isn t doing their job. Mental models can be thought of as the world view

Right off the bat I found Octopus Plus One , by Ronnie Kuller, enjoyable. This song was performed by Sitting in Chairs. The joke one of the musicians made about how it was music? was what peaked my interest. In the beginning, the tonality is established right away as being mysterious and suspicious, with a moderate amount of energy. As the song evolved, the tonality became more jittery and energetic. In addition, the tempoincreased significantly from Andante at the beginning to Allegro or even Vivace during the climax. Near the end of the song, the tonality returned to being suspicious and mysterious, and the tempo slowed back down to Adante. Concluding the piece was a finale that left the audience feeling happy and upbeat. Because of the contrasting tonalities and the climax that occurred in the middle of the work,

  • 12. The Sacred Space And Sacred Spaces Forged By The Divine Since their creation, humans have sought to find meaning from the mundane existence of mortality. This quest for answers has motivated many to seek out the divine and sacred spaces forged by the divine. Biblical scholar and historian Mircea Eliade argues that, man becomes aware of the sacred because it manifests itself [and] to designate the act of manifestations of the sacred [is the] proposed term hierophany (Eliade 1959: 11). In other words, a hierophany exists when the divine chooses to reveal himself, by defining a space or object as sacred through the divine s presence. After a hierophany occurs, the chosen object or space is deemed an axis mundi. Eliade defines axis mundi as, a universal pillar which at once connects and supports heaven and earth and whose base is fixed in the world below (Eliade 1959: 36). Using a comparative analysis of biblical texts and scholarly articles, this paper will discuss how a sacred space, specifically Jerusalem, manifests itself through God s choosing. Therefore Jerusalem is the holy dwelling place of the divine, because God chose it through his application of multiple hierophanies and his establishment of axes mundi within the city s walls. Jerusalem as a sacred dwelling place is reflected though its similarities to the Garden of Eden, where God created the first human beings on earth. In Genesis 2, God had planted a garden in the east, [and] a river watering the garden flowed from Eden, there it was separated into four

Some alcoholics drink to reduce strong inhibitions or guilt about expressing negative feelings. Social and cultural factors play roles in to establishing drinking patterns and the development of alcoholism. In some cultures, there is conflict between abstaining and accepting the use of alcohol as a way to change moods or to be social, thus making it difficult for some people to develop stable attitudes about and moderate patterns of drinking. Society tends to aid in the development of alcoholism by making alcohol seem glamorous, showing that by drinking, you will become more popular, more glamorous and more worthy of respects from others. The physical effects of alcoholism are somewhat gruesome. Excessive in take and prolonged use of alcohol can cause serious disturbances in body chemistry Many alcoholics exhibit swollen and tender livers. The prolonged use of large amounts of alcoholism without adequate diet may cause serious liver damage, such as cirrhosis of the liver (McCarthy 505). Alcoholism also causes loss of muscular control. The condition delirium tremens, known primarily to heavy drinkers, causes hallucinations along with loss of control of muscular functioning. When this condition develops and the alcoholic slows their drinking, withdrawal

The Color Purple Analysis Thinking Ahead of Her Times Treating women properly with dignity and respect has commonly been an issue because it has been a constant struggle for them to gain it throughout history. This controversy goes way back to the early twentieth century and in The Color Purple by Alice Walker, we clearly see how women are not given the respect or dignity they deserve. Although people seem to not recognize it as a problem, this issue must be addressed. In The Color Purple one definitely sees how Celie represents a repressed woman and how she learns to fight back over time to overcome her struggles in life. In The Color Purple, Celie a young black girl who lived in Georgia was very bright and wrote countless letters to God. These letters contained horrid experiences Celie went through. She was constantly subjected to abuse and told she was ugly. So these letters became an outlet for her to cope with her situation. The letters also show how Celie has pulled through numerous struggles she endured starting from the age of 14 and ending up into her mid forties. Although Celie has her doubt that God even takes her concerns into consideration, these letters serve as a type of therapy to help her ease her suffering. Having gone through countless unbelievable troubles, Celie feels she can express her private thoughts and feelings freely. Celie knows that Nettie, her dear sister is not receiving the letters as Mr. _____ hides them from Nettie so that she cannot receive them. In her

The Consequences of Noncompliance Introduction This paper is about the changes in the HIPAA Privacy and Security rules and its impact on the health care industry, this paper will show how the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) is increasingly modifying the Act to match the technological advancements within the health arena. The paper will also elaborate on some of the consequences of violating HIPAA and some case examples are cited in this paper. The last section of this paper enumerates how this course has allowed me to reflect on the Benedictine Hallmarks of Conversatio which hinges on forming and transforming oneself. Finally, an informed conclusion is drawn from my research on the consequences of violating HIPAA in the healthcare industry. The Consequences of Noncompliance with HIPAA The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) was enacted in 1996 to protect employees health insurance coverage when they lose or change jobs. It also has provisions that ensure the privacy and confidentiality of identifiable health information. According to the HHS web page (2016), the major goal of the Privacy Rule is to assure that individuals health information is properly protected while allowing the flow of health information needed to provide and promote high quality health care, and to protect the public s health and wellbeing. Therefore, to appropriately enforce and regulate HIPAA, certain protocols and noncompliance repercussions were put in

Judy made an incorrect statement about a sloth just because of what type of animal he was. This statement was later proven not true, as the sloth was speeding throughout the streets of Zootopia. Concepts Stereotypes: Generalized (sometimes accurate but often overgeneralized) beliefs about a group of people. Throughout the movie, there are a lot of stereotypes evident. The main one is that predators are bad, and prey is good. Many believed in the movie that the predators could not be trusted after all the attacks that were happening, but that was not true. The rare cases of a predator going savage was due to toxic flowers. Discrimination: Unjustifiable negative behavior toward a group or its members. In Zootopia, an act of discrimination is seen in a flashback when Nick Wilde is joining the Ranger Scouts. In this scene, the members of the scouts put a muzzle on him just because he is a fox and They cannot trust a fox . Situational Attribution: Believing the cause of a behavior is based on the person s situation, not their attitude. An example of this in the movie was when Judy found out the reason for predators going savage was due to the flowers, not due to their attitudes or genetics. Dispositional Attribution: Believing that the cause of a behavior is based on the person s attitude, not situation. In the scene where Nick Wilde was trying to buy a popsicle for his son , Judy assumed that he was a great father. However, he was just trying to hustle her out of a free popsicle to sell later. Conformity: Adjusting one s behavior or thinking to coincide with a group standard. In the movie, when Judy said that she though that the predator s attacks were due to genetics, everyone conformed to this idea. The prey started to separate themselves from the prey and conform to this idea. Normative Social Influence: Influence resulting from a person s desire to gain approval or disapproval. In the movie, Judy Hopps works extra hard while on parking duty to get approval from Chief Bogo and get more interesting cases. Deindividuation: The loss of self awareness and self restraint occurring in group situations that foster

More than 6.1 million Americans are currently declared infertile this account for 10% of Americans in the child bearing age (Cooper Hilbert). This is not only a problem in our world today but also in the book One Foot in Eden by Ron Rash this is a problem that affects many of the charters. In the book it discusses the backgrounds of each character and talks about what problems they face, and infertility is one of them that shows up more than once. In the book the Sheriff and his wife are affected by infertility because their marriage will never be the same. Also, the main charters Amy and Billy are affected by infertility because of the way other people will view Billy and Billy will now see Amy differently. Infertility is a big topic in the book One Foot in Eden by Ron Rash. This affects many charters in the story like the Sheriff and his wife. Memory Foam If you are thinking about purchasing a memory foam mattress and really do not know anything other than what you have heard through television ads, then you will first need to understand exactly what memory foam is and how it works to ensure that you pick the best mattress for you. Memory foam, in its primitive stage was first used by NASA in the 1970s for space missions. The prototypes were thin in appearance and over time, cracked. But they served the purpose in providing comfort to the astronaut while on space missions. Over time, memory foam has been transformed and manufactured by several companies, all of which proclaim their version to be the best. These mattresses are now quite durable and thick, yet very soft and spongy to the touch.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not all memory foam mattresses are the same, though. There are certain aspects that you have to look for, one being the density range. Since memory foam is a soft surface you will need something supportive at the base. The entire mattress should never be solely memory foam. Memory foam by itself is too soft and will not provide adequate support. Added over a firm material, however, it creates the perfect combination for a good nights rest. Two other features that you will want to look for are temperature and filling. A lower temperature will result in a firm surface while higher temperatures result in a softer surface. If you do not want to buy a full mattress, you can buy a mattress topper that comes in a variety of temperatures. Filler should be quality and not cheap. Some manufacturers fill the mattress with sand so be sure to find out what the filler is prior to purchasing. The best memory foam mattress should also have a depth of three to five inches as any less or more will result in less support. Remember that cheaper is not always better. Some of the cheaper models are filled with sand rather than a high quality filling, ensuring your

On the other end of the spectrum, acidosis is a medical condition in which there is too much acid in the body, which also causes an acid base imbalance. For this assignment, I will be explaining two types of each acid base imbalance, including the following conditions: respiratory acidosis, metabolic acidosis, respiratory alkalosis, and metabolic alkalosis. In respiratory acidosis, there is a characteristic PCO2 level of above 45 mmHg and a pH below 7.35. Respiratory compensation through hypoventilation may bring blood pH into the normal range (Tortora Derrickson, 2013). Medical treatment includes IV fluids and, in more severe cases, hemodialysis or hemofiltration. Homeopathic treatments for both respiratory acidosis and metabolic acidosis include eating raisins, spinach, and tomatoes because all three of these fruits and vegetables are alkaline in nature and will help increase the alkalinity of the blood and neutralize acids in the body (Natural Home Remedies, 2013). In fact most forest fires are started by humans, when they don t know it. However, forest fires are necessary for plants health, by offering many ecological benefits. There are also actual forests fires that are permitted to burn that are not fought for that purpose. Then again, if forest fires occur and are not permitted, firefighters need to take action in their many ways. Therefore, forests fires often start by humans, has many ecological benefits, and are fought in many ways. Ecological Benefits Many people think of forest fires as bad and disastrous as figure 1 shows, but what they don t know is that forest fires have great benefits to the environment. Some say that large forest fires are like shots of adrenaline that stimulate biodiversity (Robbins). Without these fires many plants would not be able to grow in their natural way. Those fires recycle nutrients, and create substances that plants need for growth. Fires also clear trees and some vegetation that can prevent new tree growth. In fact, some species of Pine and Oak trees grow best when forest fires occur (Parker). Also, some tree species need very high temperatures for their seeds to sprout (Cooper). Foresters can actually permit certain forest fires to occur due to all the ecological benefits. These fires are set by firemen in safe conditions far from human life with low winds and high humidity

Gabriel Garcia Marques provides a unique platform in his novella, Chronicle of a Death Foretold (COADF) to analyze facets of traditional Colombian values. The characters provide context regarding particular sectors of religion, cultural values and social norms throughout the novel. Marquez highlights a multitude of cultural juxtapositions throughout all of his novels, however, COADF in particular comments on the social hypocrisy of religion and the double standards due to gender norms throughout the novel. In the novella, Angela Vicario s character highlights misguided principles and helps to understand how women and other groups of people in the country are maltreated. Common themes throughout the novel often victimize Angela Vicario, such as sexual identity, alcohol abuse and religious scrutiny. Marquez conveys these themes through imagery, symbolism, allegory and most especially periphrasis. This paper will effectively highlight how these factors demonstrate the cultural discrepancy in allowance of freedoms and the roles of women in the novel, and broader country. Periphrasis is often considered to be a dreary, poorly written selection of a novel. Readers often misunderstand its significance; however, Marquez is able to effectively use the literary device to provide contextual evidence for his characters. When painting traditional scenes of culture, especially through the magical realist lens that Marquez utilizes, periphrasis allows for an in depth platform and

Songs That Have Stood the Test of Time and Geography Part 1 Background and Identification There are quite a number of songs that have stood the test of time and geography to remain as vital and popular today as they were when first composed. Perhaps it is because some of these songs simply transcend time and place and appeal to the core of human emotion. Who cannot feel a thrill of excitement and humanity at the finale of Beethoven s 9th Symphony, or shed a tear at a favorite Christmas carol? One song that fits this transcendence is La Vie En Rose, literally, Life in Pink. This was first made popular in 1946 by French torch singer Edith Piaf. Translated from the French idiom, the piece means seeing life through rose colored glasses, rather perfect for Piaff s life and vocal talent, and even more perfect for a world turned upside down because of World War II. At first, Piaf s colleagues and team did not think the song would be at all successful, yet it became a favorite with audiences around the world, and Piaf s signature song (Bret, 2009). The song quickly became so popular it was translated into several languages, and then the greatest compliment of all imitated by singers in many different genres. Ironic since the words were almost hastily scribbled on a cocktail napkin while Piaf was drinking with her friend Marianne Michel at a cafГѓ on the Champs Elysees (Burke, 2011, p. 118). Also, besides over 50 artists interpreting and recording the work, it was recently made into a stage play and surprisingly successful
  • 38. Persuasive Speech For Speech SUMMER! It s that time of year again and with that comes summer break! , a phrase that brings joy and a bit of nervousness for parents. As a speech language pathologist, a question heard often from families this time of year is what can we do at home? . We love this question, because speech practice can be done from anywhere! I wanted to share with you a few ideas that can be quick, easy, effective, and FUN. 1.Chalk Chalk is a must have for summer days. As a child, I can remember drawing endless hopscotch mazes in the cul de sac with my neighbors and racing to the finish line. Let your kids have a great time being creative and creating their own courses on the driveway, but encourage them to practice their speech sounds. For example, you or your child could write or draw pictures of speech words in each square of hopscotch, so that each time they jump on a square, they practice saying the words. I also love tracing bodies in chalk and decorating them with funny faces, clothes, etc. This gives your child opportunity to describe the person, label items, or tell a story about what the person is doing. 2.Scavenger Hunt Scavenger hunts are so fun and can be so beneficial for speech and language goals. For a child working on speech sounds, you could hide objects or pictures with their sound and let them find them as fast as they can! As they find them, they can say the word 5 times or describe where it is using prepositions ( under the trampoline ). They can also practice inferences or guess where the next item will be ( I think the tennis ball will be in the mailbox ). This is also fun as a flash light scavenger hunt . You can tape your practice words around the house and turn off the lights or hide objects outside at night time. Hand your child a flashlight and then go find the words! They can say each word as they find them! 3.I spy This is a favorite of mine, because it can be easily adapted to match your child s goals, and you can never go wrong with a game of I Spy . For younger children who are working on building vocabulary, this will give them a chance to identify and label objects and actions around the house, playground, beach, outside, etc. This is also a great time for you to draw their

Reducing Public Services Yet another set of cuts is now foreseen to our beleaguered local service, just days after announcements were made regarding consultations on reducing children s services, school buses and, well, just about anything you can think of which serves the public basically. This time the council is proposing reviewing the timetables of a number of bus services in and around Witney, but also other rural areas of the County. I can t comment on services in other neighbourhoods, but our 18 and 19 routes are for many people a lifeline. For the elderly, unemployed, disabled and youths buses are the one and only form of transport available to them to get them into the main business centres of Witney and Oxford. The council is proposing reducing these services from hourly to two hourly. If you have opened the consultation papers online you would have noticed that this would save the council at most under ВЈ200,000 a sum which is insignificant in the annual transport budget of just over ВЈ53 million, but one with severe repercussions for many. The view of the Green Party is simple. We can t justify the existence of public services just on the basis of a crude income and expenditure analysis. In the instance of transport a proper cost benefit analysis should take into account matters such as benefit to the environment, sustainability and overall services distribution. In this context reducing buses in rural areas would clearly make no sense whatsoever. Countless previous examples

When thought about in terms of energy, the most common equation is that of rotational kinetic energy, or KE=(1/2)mv^2 + (1/2)Iω^2. Because this is a stable stance, the various forces acting on the body must be equalized somehow. The main force is the one caused by extension of the back leg into the ground (a).
