Rupert Family s Pet Phony Report
This article was written on September 9, 2015 by Bonnie Shelton. It is called Rupert family s
pet pony dragged by vehicle, abused . The subject is based on an abused animal in Southern
Idaho. In Rupert, Idaho, a pet pony, named Patches, was taken from the Lopez yard around 10
p.m. this last Saturday. The pony was believed to be tied to a vehicle and dragged down a road
for a mile or so. Patches was found the morning after still alive but severely hurt. The pony s eyes
looked like they had been punched or hit by an object. Patches had a wound the looked like it
was stabbed right above the left flank, which is between the ribs and hips the pony s knees were

The Importance Of Work Place Culture And How It Has A...
People will typically be more enthusiastic where they feel a sense of belonging and see
themselves as member of a community, in comparison to a workplace in which each person is
left to their own devices Kohn (1999 pg. 188). This outlines that when people have a sense of
belonging they will thrive, and demonstrates the importance of work place culture and how it has
a large influence on if a business is successful, in the same way that Cameron and Quinn
explained (2011) that some of today s successful firms have developed a distinctive culture that is
identifiable by its employees, for example Disney. In early years settings this sense of belonging is
shared through having a uniform, a defined set of values, policies and... Show more content on

Another major factor is how the individuals will play a role in how the communication is received,
for example their role within the setting. This is supported by Tylor and Van Every (2000) when
they stress that with clear and concise communication between employees an organisation can
emerge and grow. Schins (1985) explained in his model that there are three basic levels of
elements for culture , described as layers. One of these is artefacts which are the visible
elements like uniform worn by staff and children which shows a group presence and aides
belonging, providing a sense of family, furthermore there is organisational structure, the manager
leading the setting with their values which are fed down through the deputy to the early years
practitioners, through strategies and goals set by the manager, and any policies and procedures
the setting follows. One of these is what the setting stands for which is for all children to be
happy and to achieve, another one is where the setting aims to be in the future. Which in the case
of early years is striving to achieve the highest grade with OFSTED, if staff feel valued and
confident in their work this will influence a more positive attitude in their behaviour and
feelings, and will want to achieve more as a whole.
Hofstede (1980) suggested that settings need to consider the individual values of the employees
and their personal values and they should be encouraged and not criticised to make a

Korissa GozdziakSummer Reading Project Activity #1: Take 100% responsibility for your life.
This principle is all about the fact that no one can change your future but you it s all in our own
hands to decide where we want to go. Excuses and blaming other people won t get you anywhere.
On page 14, it says, You either create or allow everything that happens to you. I m starting to
learn that this is true. Almost everything that happens to me both positive and negative happens
because of something I did in the past. It s my job to think about what my actions today will
cause tomorrow, because no one else can change things in my life except me. Believe it s possible.

Explain How Mcdonald And KFC
Overview
The objective of the report is to convey the information gathered about strategies and plans used by
Mcdonald s and Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). This report starts out with a brief introduction
allocated to each of the company. Initially, we begin by explaining the planning strategies used by
Mcdonald s and KFC and then compare the plans against each other. After that, we briefly
explained the importance of planning for both the companies. Following that, we explained and
compared the leadership behaviour of both company s CEO and the types of power he uses to
influence others and the organisational results. We then described the 5 Maslow s Hierarchy of
Needs for both the companies and suggested how the CEO can further motivate his people. Lastly,
we defined the managerial roles played by the CEOs and did a final comparison based on these ...

Participative style is where the leader and the subordinates shares their views and opinions in
decision making process. This can be seen in Roger Eaton where he provides group of interactive
sessions and open conversations. This is to enhance open communication and give employees the
opportunity to express concerns and their ideas.
Comparison:
Steve Easterbrook, CEO of Mcdonald s, adopts the selling style. Steve believes in managing the
people in his company by using both directive and supportive behaviour. He displays his supportive
behaviour towards his employees by motivating them to further increase their self confidence level.
In addition to this, he also shows directive behaviour by paying attention to his employees and
make sure they carry out tasks correctly and under supervision.
Roger Eaton on the other hand adopts a participative style. He entrusts tasks to his employees and
involves them in decision making process for KFC and encourages them to delegate other
employees to get things done instead of him supervising everyone all the

Steve Jobs And The World
Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs does that ring a bell well it should, as he is the reason for most of the gadgets in your
pocket and hands. Steve Jobs is the founder and was the CEO of Apple. With out him most of you

revolutionized technology and Communion throughout the world. His importance To me is that
with out him I would not be typing and my normal days would be extremely different. Those are
the reasons why he is important to both me and the world.

Atari In 1976, when Jobs was just 21, he and Wozniak started Apple Computer.
Family
Before Steve got married, he was committed to his work. He was at work the whole day and only
came home to have a quick dinners and a short nights at his home, but this habit stopped as soon
as he married Lauren Powell. In 1990 he spent much more time with his son named Reed, and
his 2 daughters Erin and Eve who were born latter. His other teenage daughter Lisa, a daughter he
had with his old girlfriend Chris Ann Brennan, was taken into the family. Steve s life was
changed when he became a father. He cared a lot about his children and their education. Some
examples of him caring for his children is he attended their parent/teacher meetings, did not
allow them to watch TV or use devices and had them eat healthy. Steve Jobs often talked about
how he would try to balance his life of being a father, and his work. This is a quote Steve Jobs
said in a interview about his life, which included his family: That was one of the things that came

Realism In Richard Wright s The Man Who Was Almost A Man
In his short story, The Man Who Was Almost a Man, Richard Wright uses realism to illustrate Dave
s struggle to come to terms with his identity, as well as the intricacies of adulthood. After
convincing his mother to let him buy a gun, he inadvertently shoots and kills his work mule the
next day. However, the ways in which Dave handles his various predicaments are immature and
juvenile approaches that detract the maturity he desires. Instead of confessing to accidentally
killing his work mule, Dave invents a dubious tale to avoid the consequences of his actions. Later
that night, when he goes to retrieve the gunfrom its hiding place, Dave considers but quickly
dismisses the idea of shooting at Mr. Hawkins s house, a rather immature way of redeeming

Analysis Of The Book The Lottery Essay
When I think of the lottery, I think of a game basically where they choose one number and
something or something gets chosen.
* Setting can best be defined as: B. Thy physical location, time, and social environment in which
a story takes place. In the first paragraph, the setting is described as a beautiful sunny day that is
during the summer. Everything is in bloom and the grass is green. Basically, during this first
paragraph, the author describes it as a perfect day which shows how nice it is and making the
reader not realize what the townspeople are actually going to do, which is the opposite of how this
day really is. This sets a peaceful and happy tone and atmosphere throughout the beginning of the
story.
Mood can best be defined as: A. The emotional effect or feeling that a text creates in a reader. The
mood that the villagers seem to be in is a happy and normal mood because they feel that the lottery
is just another normal day. They are neither sad nor angry, just content and used to the tradition of
doing the lottery. They act like nothing is wrong and do not care who dies. I can tell that they are
in a content mood because they don t care about doing the lottery and feel that it is an important
part of their lives. The type of event that the lottery seems to be is a gathering where they chose to
kill one person by stoning them to death.
The possible reason why the people hesitated to help Mr. summers with the box is that they don t

The Genetic Code Essay
In the year of 1920 a theory created by two different scientists was born, Russian Scientist/Chemist
A.I.Oparin and an English Geneticist J.B.S both developed this theory known as The Primordial
Soup Theory . This theory basically states that all life 3.8 3.5 billon years ago came from a tiny
puddle filled with amino acids and elements from Earth s atmosphere. An experiment to test this
theory was called Miller Urey experiment courtesy of scientist Stanley Miller and Harold Urey. In
this experiment the two used electric shocks/charges and were able to birth organic mixtures
(compounds).Oparin and J.B.S both stated that a solution of methane, hydrogen, vapored water,
and ammonia could be conjoined and made into amino acids.... Show more content on

Anyways this RNA world theory claims that RNA is the origin of all living organisms on planet
earth. Even though there is no experiment to back this hypothesis there is however research and
claims in Carl Woese s book by the name of The Genetic Code . RNA is a protein also known as
ribonucleic acid, both RNA and DNA house tons of our (human beings) genetic codes. Seeing
that the theory says that it might not be the exact origin of life on earth it stilled played a part in
evolution. Also recent cells and those that came before it were said to have evolved and bonded
with enzyme compound to make a unit. Enzymes bonded with RNA were stated that they made
a system which stored and created life and evolved. Community Clay Hypothesis states that
biological (living) organisms have ties to being evolved from clay. Hyrdogel clay (water
substance clay) was believed to have formed over billions of years consisting chemicals that were
confined and begun to produce biological matter of dioxyribose nucleic acid (DNA) and forms of
proteins. These chemicals were said to have had evolved and to have made complicated biological
structures/materials. Sadly there s no evidence in the form of experiment to back this claim up but
further studies are showing that this theory might have some potential in the

Integrative Genomic Analysis In Cancer Essay
Other methodologies for integrative genomic analysis in cancer have been studied previously. The
review presented in cite{kristensen2014principles} summarizes a number of different tools and
algorithms used in this area. The paper classifies these methods into statistical, machine learning,
gene set, network, and other analysis techniques. Many work has been done to perform an
integrated analysis using genetic and geneexpression data. In cite{xiong2012integrating}, the
authors illustrated that joint analyses of genomic data increase the power to detect real associations
when compared with gene set methods that use only one genomic data type. They developed a

The authors of this paper integrated high dimensional genetic and proteomic data in a cohort of
subjects in which a portion experienced an adverse event (AE) after primary immunization with
Aventis Pasteur smallpox vaccine. They modelled the AE risk using 1442 single nucleotide
polymorphisms as genetic variables and 108 serum cytokine concentrations as proteomic variables.
They employed the Random Forests (RF) method to filter the most important attributes to be used
in the building of a final decision tree model. After that, they built a comprehensive model of AE
development by integrating information from previous studies with the genetic and proteomic
attributes identified by RF. The biological factors included in the model support their hypothesized
mechanism for the development of AEs involving prolonged stimulation of inflammatory pathways
and an imbalance of normal tissue damage repair pathways.
A novel approach was presented in cite{zhong2010integrating}. This approach uses information
from genetics of gene expression studies to investigate biological pathways enriched for expression
associated genetic loci related with disease in publicly available Genome wide Association Studies
(GWAS) results. The authors of this paper, first identified SNPs in population based human cohorts
that associate with the expression of genes (eSNPs) in the metabolically active tissues liver,

Public Schools Should Not Be The Place For Religious...
One of the many foundations of the United States as a nation was religion. When people fled their
homes in search of a new place, one of the many reasons was due to religious freedom. Almost
immediately conflicts arose between religions, and their belief systems. No problems seem to arise
with teaching religionto children in school until the 1900 s. That is when the courts decided
religious instructions in public schools would be deemed unconstitutional. Court cases started
around the country with people fighting against religious instruction in public schools, many
accusing teachers of putting their beliefs in their teachings. The young, and impressionable
minds of children should not be exposed to another persons religious beliefs because they can
easily be swayed in a certain direction. This is why religious practices, such as prayer, and the
teachings of creationism should not be allowed in public schools. Public schools should not be
the place for religious practices for many reasons. Firstly, there a several different ways in which
having those practices in public schools goes against the Constitution, and the Establishment
Clause, which does not allow public schools to endorse any religion. Secondly, as children are
minors in age, so are their minds. Children can easily be swayed in a certain direction if they
witness an authority figure expressing a certain belief. Having religious practices in public schools
also goes against many science classes with the

connection with nature at an early age, and most likely thought as highly of her as he did nature.

Text Messaging
Text messaging is a very controversial subject in our society, possibly even in other cultures.
Some complain that texting is overused and abused while others praise the most recent
developments and upgrades of texting. The pervasive use of text messaging in today s society
has many facets; however, the bad is said to outweigh the good. Any individual s perspective on
the issue will most likely depend on their age group or social class. For example, a fifteen year old
would appreciate the convenience and speed of text messagingbut a fifty year old would most likely
not need the texting function on their cell phone; therefore, the speed and convenience of text
messaging would become irrelevant. Mobile based coordination, as Ling calls... Show more content

The scarcity of understanding among the groups can cause tension, fighting, and even
resentment. The majority of text message conversations are built on forming a response as soon
as you can. No one really notices that the hidden idea behind this general statement can actually
lead to a need for instant gratification. Not only does this necessity cause severe impatience, it
also causes an absence of attention to many things such as school or one s communal life. When
I text during a math or science class where something has to be explained in steps, I lose all of
my focus and do not understand what the teacher is explaining. This most likely occurs in other
types of situations such as business meetings or even dinner dates. Texting while driving has
become the most prevalent cause of traffic accidents in America today. The general finding here
is that the mobile telephone increases reaction time and that it demands that better could be
afforded driving (Ling 49). Those who take the risk of texting and driving have a subconscious
belief that they can avoid a car accident even though they are more focused on the cell phone
rather than driving. This belief has killed approximately 2,600 people a year and caused six percent
of all traffic accidents (txtresponsibly.org). Lawmakers saw the consequences of these actions and

Bilingual Education Essay examples
Bilingual Education Our school systems play host to dozens of languages in addition to the
standard fare of English. Starting in the late 1960s, partially as a swing off the Civil Rights
Movement, school systems were required by law to provide bilingual education anytime twenty or
more children spoke the same foreign language, and were found to be limited in their English
proficiency. At first, the need for such programs was small, but over time it has been steadily
increasing until now where the need has reached what many consider to be massive. In recent years,
the population of the United States has exploded with many non English speaking students, making
the need for bilingual educationmore urgent. Although this amount is... Show more content on

In Richard Rodriguez s essay entitled ARIA, he explains What I needed to learn in school was that
I had the right and the obligation to speak the public language of los gringos. (Rodriguez 531)
When comfortable that they have the right to learn another language, students gain the positive
attitude, as well as the self esteem that is so badly needed to succeed.
Another unexpected source of support comes from Deborah Tannen in her essay entitled
Conversational Styles. Americans are often proud that they discount the significance of cultural
differences: We are all individuals, many people boast. Ignoring such issues as gender, and
ethnicity becomes a source of pride: I treat everyone the same. But treating people the same is not
equal treatment if they are not the same. (Tannen 549) By discounting the cultural differences such
as language, students are not being treated as equals, as they are not being allowed to learn
English. A perfect example of this is shown every day in the classroom when children slip into
their desks, and pull out their English books.
Also, how much the student perceives the need of the new language can have a great impact on
how willing they are to learn it. In terms of his own advancement in perhaps obtaining a job where
it may be necessary to know English, or meeting some other goal, which is

Outside Influence On The Hawaii
Outside Influences Negatively Impact Hawaii Widely known as paradise , Hawaii is a desired
place to live and vacation. Families, couples, and individuals come to take part in the temperate
weather and beautiful beaches. However, Hawaii now is nothing like it use to be the real history
behind this popular chain of islands is rarely told to visitors. Back in early Hawaiian times, Hawaii
was self sufficient, independent, and gorgeous all around. The number of Native Hawaiians
flourished, and everyone helped contribute to the community. All that changed, however, when
outsiders began to settle here in Hawaii. Although the different outside influences may have
brought some positivity to Hawaii, the negative side of their arrival overwhelmingly defeats it.
Upon his expedition on January 18, 1778, English explorer Captain Cook was the first European
to discover the Hawaiian Islands. While commanding the Resolution and Discovery to explore
the Northwest Passage, Cook and his crew stumbled upon O ahu and Kaua i. Native Hawaiians
did not perceive these British sailors as a threat, and in fact Greeted [Captain Cook] as a sacred
high chief or god ( Captain Cook para 1). However, they were not fully aware of the effects of his
arrival. According to Peter Pirie, a Professor of Geography at the University of Hawaii at Manoa,
...the two Cook visits refer to the problem of venereal diseases among the crews... [to] their
transmission from the newcomers to the Hawaiian population (75).

Piano Critique
The piece opens very quickly, with a quickening of the cello but it is suddenly interrupted with
the piano in a deep key. The opening part of the piece has a significant amount of dissonance,
bringing a sense of anxiety and desire for the piece to end. As it rises, the listener is both anxious
for an ending and a resolution. The piano is this ending. The piece then picks up in a minor key,
entering a more mystical and quiet place. The piano takes precedence with the cello sitting in the
background yet when the listener thinks the pieces will be piano heavy, the cello takes over the
piano withdraws to the background. The deep vibratos of the cello are contrasted with the light
single key of the piano. This leads the listener to associate the cello with a lament and the piano for
hope. The piano always closes the movement with a deep, somber key, suggesting that though hope
is out there, there is still an air of sadness, of melancholy.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When the cello stops, the listener is thrown into a state of tranquility. There is less stimuli and the
sense of anticipation is halted. The return of the cello marks the lament but this time it is in
consonance with the piano, creating a unified piece. The piece, I believe remains in minor the
entire time, which adds to the feeling of despair. Another feature which adds to this despair
(dissonance and minor key) is the presence of commas. Not only does the listen hope for something,

1. Do a search and find at least three (3) different definitions of literacy and/or descriptions of types
of literacy. Only one may come from a dictionary. These must be significantly different from one
another. List these here with sources properly cited (APA).
Literacy has several definitions. It is defined as the ability to read and write (Literacy, 2015,
para. 1), and knowledge relating to a certain subject (Literacy, 2015). In academic terms, literacy
is defined as the proficient ability to read and construct meaning out of literature and content in
school (Torgesen et al., 2007 as cited in Correction to: Literacy, 2016). Whitehurst and Lonigan
(1998) define emergent literacy claiming, early literacy was used to refer to the conceptual
knowledge and skills that are developmental precursors to formal literacy (Whitehurst Lonigan,
1998, p. 608 as cited in Chan, 2015). On the other hand, Lytle and Wolfe (1989) define literacy
through four metaphors: literacy as tasks, reflection, practices, and skills (as cited in Walter,
1999). Digital literacy is defined as the ability to utilize new media and the Internet as a means to
connect and to critically evaluate various kinds of digital

Wiping out medication errors would diminish stumbles and mistakes, however, in the event that

Refugees In Ann Coulter s Essay
Dread, terror, and fear, creeping through the walls, continues to corrupt American morals, minute by
minute. With the onslaught of the Paris attacks, the question of whether or not America should
accept more refugees now governs over American politics, originally a question that does not need
questioning. Recently, Ann Coulter, an extreme conservative, posted an article named Importing
Terrorism and Other American Values regarding America s vetting process and America s
obligation towards refugees. Within her article, she ventures to devalue the vetting process and
denounce refugees and immigrants alike as crimecarriers. Although her argument appears both
logical and reasonable superficially, Coulter not only fails to cite her sources, but also
demonstrates consistent mastery of logical fallacies, misuse of evidence, and shallow knowledge
regarding immigrant and crime statistics. Coulter begins her article quoting President Obama, who
referred to the rejection of refugees as, a betrayal of our [American] values (cite1). She raises
concerns over the lack of protection for American citizens stating, Contrary to Obama s laughable
reference to the universal values that all of humanity share, most of the world does not... Show more

but also discredits herself as a person. Not only so, she blatantly uses outdated and uncredible
evidence, which may work for the general reader who may not have time to research. This cheap
shot by Coulter can not go ignored, and the public must not consider her article as relevant or

The Outsiders Differences Between Book And Movie
The Outsiders
Books and movies have many similarities and differences, this is some similarities and
differences in The Outsiders. The similarities in the books are they all have the same lesson
/theme. In the book and movie the lesson or point is the split between gangs and how they also
have the same problems on both sides of town this makes the story more reliable than not to have
the same theme. In the movie and the book the themes are very apparent in the split between
social groups which makes the story have the same feeling as the book. In the movie in the book
and movie Johnny is abused by his parents. This is important because in the book Johnny is the

Some of the more apparent differences in the book and movie is that in the book Johnny is a very
shy and soft spoken yet on the movie johnny is more talkative. This affects the plot greatly by
saying that Johnny is beaten and is on the verge to kill yet in the movie the feeling of being abused
is not here. This leads me to believe that Johnny doesn t have the strength to kill Bob Sheldon.
Another difference is that in the book is that Johnny in the hospital was on a bed but in the movie
Johnny is is on a high tech bed which is built for his injury. This is important because in the movie
the specialized bed gives the feeling that he is in critical condition which makes the audience more
emotional than the book with Johnny in a common bed which does not give the feeling of a critical
condition. That is some of the many differences in the book and movie of The

First Three Laws Of Nature By Thomas Hobbes
The first three laws of nature according to Thomas Hobbes were a way to put an end to the state
of war. These laws are based on the idea of a social contract between two human beings that
involves mutual rights between parties. In this answer I will describe how these laws can bring
about peace in society.
Since all of these laws are brought together through peace, according to Hobbes the first law
deals with seeking out peace where war is not an option. Hobbes believes that in order for man
to preserve life he must seek out peace and if peace is achieved this will prevent us from the state
of war. In today s society our goal is to advance the global peace system by supporting and
collaborating with peacebuilding efforts.
The second law of nature deals with the surrendering of our natural rights in order to achieve
peace that we are seeking. If a person does not give up their natural right, they are considered a
threat to the existence of peace among a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This law is the foundation for human justice but because of the human desire for power, there is
always an incentive to break this contract despite the logic of the third law and the natural mandate
to preserve our own lives (Hobbes; Leviathan Chapter 14 16). Other natural laws and eventually the
concept of sovereignty must come into play in order to preserve functionality of this third law
(Hobbes; Leviathan Chapter 14 16).
According to Hobbes if all individuals follow these three natural laws there is a greater chance of
peace in society. In a social contract between individuals, there is an agreement to give up their
natural rights. Hobbes uses this theory to explain the relationship between individuals and others in
society and how they can live free from constant conflict and maintain the peace in

Reflection Paper On Domestic Violence
On Monday, December 25, 2017, at approximately 1308 hours, I responded to 1032 Worthington

observed Mr. Elijah Morris committed battery by grabbing Mr. Riley Morris in the area of his

but was unable to do so during the physical altercation. When the physical altercation started, Ms.
Iverson called the sheriff s office for assistance. The two brothers were separated and Mr. Elijah

Measuring Gross Income Data Is A Measure Of Economic Welfare
Evaluate the extent to which Gross Income Data is a measure of economic welfare.
Morven Chan
Economic welfare is defined as the level prosperity and financial satisfaction of participants in an
economy. Economic welfare can often be assessed through statistics such as the level of
employment. National income statistics is defined as the value of goods and services produced in
an economic system over a period of time. National Income can be broken down into four different
parts which include Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Gross National Product (GNP), GDP per
capita, and GNP per capita. National Income is used for variety of purposes in our economy. Firstly,
national income statistics are important in that most of the government s future ... Show more

Therefore as is shown through the expenditure method, the equation for GDP becomes:
GDP=C+G+I+(X M)
Looking at the equation we can see that the issue arises that from the equation, there is
absolutely no calculation which addresses the economic welfare of the people and thus, as an
economic indicator GDP excels, but as a welfare indicator, this could suggest that it may not be
the best choice. Gross national product of a specific country is the sum of the goods and services
produced by citizens of a country domestically and the output from external sources which are
owned/part of the specific country. The symbol used to represent gross national product is GNP
and the equation for the GNP can be simply written as:
GNP=GDP+Net property income from abroad
GNP and GDP per capita are the values for GDP and GNP divided by the population of the
country. They give an average value for the output of product per individual in the country. Before
looking at the cons of national income statistics, we must first note that there are redeeming points
to using national income. For one, national income does a very good job of representing growth in
the economy. However as we know economic growth is not necessarily always a positive thing.
The issue with wealth distribution is one of the many reasons why national income

Prosperity In The Swimmer, By John Cheever
The meaning of a happy and prosperous life can take on different forms based on the value and
belief of an individual. For Neddy Merrill, the main character in The Swimmer by John Cheever,
prosperity is solely associated with wealth and social standing. In this essay, I will argue that
contrasting images of the public and private pools, encountered by Neddy swimming across his
upper class neighbourhood, reflect his obsession with material and social success, which
ultimately deserted him in desperation at the end of the story. In The Swimmer , the private pools
owned by Neddy s neighbours are associated with pleasant images, which serve to highlight Neddy
s obsession with affluence and high social standing. For instance, when Neddy arrives... Show more

In addition, the gather[ing] of prosperous people (Cheever, 175), including Neddy himself, by
the private pool, suggests that Neddy s life is centered on material and social success, which
solely constitute his definition of prosperity. In contrast, the public swimming pool at the
Reaction Center is linked with more unpleasant images to demonstrate Neddy s distaste for
lower socioeconomic classes. Neddy initially compares the public pool to a sink (Cheever, 177).
The word sink carries a negative connotation, as its common function is to hold dirty dishes. By
comparing the public pool to a sink , it also likens public pool users to dirty dishes, revealing that
Neddy is looking down on people who cannot afford a private pool. Moreover, as Neddy entering
the public pool, he remarks on his longing for the sapphire water and thinks that he might
contaminate himself damage his own prosperousness and charm by swimming in this murk
(Cheever 177). Unlike the private pool, the water in the public pool is described as a murk , a
term with a negative connotation, which reinforces Neddy s aversion to the public pool.
Meanwhile, Neddy s belief of being

Symbolism In Fences By August Wilson
The idea of a fence is simple. We set up a border with the hope that we can keep things about. The
same idea even transferred over to August Wilson Fences as we see the main character Troy try
to build a fence around his yard to keep what he loves in and what s not needed out. Although
this is the standard use of a fence what was the main metaphor of Fences that kept the storyline
going? I believe that the fence Troy Maxson built a fence between death, his wife, and his
children by pushing them away which led him to him nothing to protect on the inside of his
fence to follow up with his death several years later. Throughout the play, Maxon has the fear
that death will end his life and take those he loves away, so he builds up a fence around his life
to keep death away. Even when Troy saw death approaching him and hopping over the fence it
took him so long to build he did not allow him to get away with doing him dirty as he fought
death for three days and three nights. (Wilson. I.1. 897). with the final result of him winning and

Police Officers And Police Officer
There is enough evidence to show that police officers are using an excess of force, and in some
occasions, lethal force in their daily routine. It is now normal for people to get scared when they
are in the presence of a police officer. It is not a coincidence because these police officer have
created their own reputation. Recent incidents involving policeofficers shooting innocent people
are raising doubts about how police officers are trained, and the credibility in the Unites States
Justice System. Ginger Otis in Police Still Have a License To Kill , a Year After Eric Garner Was
Choked to Death, Says His Mother, shows many controversial cases such as Eric Garner s case
where he was choked to death by a police officerin New York city. Also, Michael Brown an
unarmed black teen that was shot to death in Ferguson, MO, or Tamir Rice a 12 year old boy

of the Grand jury on some of the cases where only two officers were charged. The discomfort of
the community became present and they started movements like Hands Up, Don t Shoot in the
Brown s case and I Can t Breath in the Garner s case. Unfortunately, this issue has not stopped,
and people still get hurt by police officers. Decisions of the Grand jury are putting in danger the

Looking Back: Interpreting in Antiquity (Hermann)
Alfred Hermann, a German Egyptologist, is credited with writing the earliest overview on the topic
of interpreting. In this work, published in 1956, Hermann gives an overview of the history of
interpreting.
Hermann s work begins with the ancient Egyptians, who believed that they were superior to all
other races, referring to themselves alone as humans and to all others as barbarians. Ancient
Egyptian inscriptions never depict the literal words of these so called barbaric foreigners. The
foreigners are always shown requesting mercy, and their speeches are always from the point of
view of the Egyptians illustrating Egyptian prejudices. Egyptians utilized interpreters as early as the
fourteenth century and then from the seventh century forward. Egyptians relied on interpreters in
the Province of Elephantine, in the mining region of the Sinai Peninsula, and in their central
government. Hermann indicates that interpreters became so necessary that Phararoh Psammetichus
selected Egyptian boys to learn the Greek language from the Hellenic settlers in the Nile Delta

Assessment Of The Residents Of Cliff Terrace
The aim of this dissertation is to assess whether residents of Cliff Terrace, Treforest are reassured
by neighbourhood policing in their community. This aim will be achieved by carrying out primary
research in relation to feelings of reassurance amongst the residents. Evidence collated by Tuffin et
al in 2006 suggests that certain acts when carried out by the policecan significantly reduce fear of
crimeand increase levels of reassurance amongst the public. This evidence will be applied to the
residents of Cliff Terrace to examine its effectiveness. In theory those who have witnessed, or
experienced evidence of reassurance policing, for instance high visibility policing or a problem
solving approach from the police etc. should have higher levels of reassurance than those who have
not experienced or witnessed these acts (Tuffin et al, 2006). In order to meet this objective one must
explore the relevant themes and literature surrounding neighbourhood policing and reassurance
policing.
This section will attempt to review literature on a recent policing strategy neighbourhood
policing (NP), with specific reference to reassurance policing (RP). The first element will focus
on community policing (CP) which is regarded as the predecessor to NP; this section will explain
the history of CP and its transition from the USA to the UK. The review will then move on to
discuss the Signal Crime Perspective (SCP) developed by Innes (2004) which encouraged the

1) How does Lizzie (Christina Ricci) describe her depression?
Lizzie describes her depression in various ways to herself and others. She says that she felt as if
she was, drowned by some kind of black wave. This wave overpowered her. Also, she talked
about how she was always exhausted when she woke up, because her mind was running wild all
night; she had clear sleep deprivation. She shows the depression symptom of suicidal thoughts
when she says, I m in more trouble than I m worth. With this, we can apply that she does not feel
as though she is worth anything in this life at this moment. Continuing, she describes her
depression more so as I m falling and I m dead [inside]. We can truly see the sadness that is inside
her.
2) How do Lizzie s friends and family react to her depression?
Lizzie s friends and family reacted in various ways to her depression. The most common trend
that seemed to happen was that everyone wanted to help her, but they did not know how. One
instant that her friends helped her was when they brought her to therapy. But her friends
abandoned her throughout the movie, because they were worried and got upset with her behavior.
Her mom was very worried about her and cried a lot. However, her Mom did tell her that she didn
t have to change herself at all. All in all, the reactions ranged from isolation to supportive.

Female Characters In And Then There Were None
Women. They are a complete mystery, said the revolutionary physicist Stephen Hawking. In the
novel And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, it is apparent that the female characters are
portrayed in a manner that is both derogatory and stereotypical. Whether the incidents include a
fellow character or the author directly using offensive insults, portrayals of hysteria or weakness
compared to the males, or downright treating the femaleprotagonists like objects or things, they are
sometimes cruel and unnecessary. Throughout And Then There Were None, the female characters
are described through hurtful stereotypes, objectification, and psychotic behaviors that may not be
appropriate for impressionable young minds to be reading about, despite others suggesting
otherwise. One of the largest problems with And Then There Were None is the use of offensive and
hurtful stereotypes while referring to the women in the novel, as well as indirectly stating that all
women should be homemakers who cook and clean. With a pioneering female writer such as
Agatha Christie, you would not necessarily expect such blaring misogyny, but it remains all the
same. On a broader note, the three main female characters are each stereotypes of the crazy woman
one following under her husband even for cruelty, one being bible crazy, and one being so in
love she is willing to literally kill anyone who stands in her way. More specifically, when William
Blore is analyzing the death of Mrs. Rogers, he

becoming my high school band s drum major. During my sophomore year, I signed up to try out
for drum major. There were five of us total, and only one of us could be the next drum major. The
audition was during band camp, and we have trained all summer for it. Unfortunately, I did not
succeed in becoming the next drum major. From this experience, I have learned that failure can be
a valuable teacher, to commit to areas where I find the most passion and to manage my tasks at
hand more effectively. My lessons started with failure. First, I learned that even in failure, there are
still lessons we can all learn. Instead of blaming someone and thinking nothing can be done, one

While I was training, I did not think much why I wanted to become a drum major. I only wanted
the attention from being a drum major, and this became clear during my audition. My frequent
embarrassing mistakes revealed my degree of dedication and everyone knew I lacked the
interest and the skill to become the next drum major. Realizing trying out for drum major was
not what I really wanted, it felt I have wasted my whole summer. Steve Jobs once said, The only
way to do great work is to love what you do . This quote accurately described my situation
because becoming a drum major was not something I loved. It was simply a way to achieve
something else I loved, and this ultimately costed me at the end. Now while applying to college to
become a veterinary doctor I can confidently say I am pursuing what I find truly empassionating.
However, instead of panicking and rushing to finish my applications all at once, I am facing them
one at a time with dedication. It is because the last lesson I learned has to do with time

Behind Closed Doors
Analysis (350 words) The short story, Behind Closed Doors , is about a young girl who is
tricked into getting trafficked by being given the incentive of earning money for her sick father s
treatment. It vividly describes the betrayal by the protagonist s uncle in entering her into this sick
human trafficking trade. Her uncle s communicative behavior and registers show that at times bad
things must be done for a good reason. First, the use of communicative behavior allows us to see
how the uncle appeared as bad at first and we later find that he actually did those things for a good
reason. It shows us that because the buyer could not handle the little girl he actually got out of the
car and helping him take (her) into the deserted house .

What Are Advantages And Disadvantages Of India
Indian higher education is not only large in scope but complex in its working and evolution. One
indicator is existence of four different types of universities depending on who funds them and
regulates them. For example, Deemed to be Universities come under the purview of UGC and
are mostly funded by private resources. They were also in controversy for corruption and
qualitative deficiencies for profiteering. This also tainted the name of some of the better quality
private Deemed to be Universities. Given the regulatory and media attention to the deficiencies
with Deemed to be Universities, Private Universities gained attraction. This is evident from their
growth from 100 to 140 in less than a year as compared to no growth of Deemed to be Universities
in the same period. The private universities are working hard to attract students away from central
and state universities by offering differentiated courses incorporating features like triple mains,
super specializations, dual degrees, integrated programs, CBCS, and industry... Show more content

The degree certificate hanging on the wall at the end of the programme is no more than a sheet
of paper. What is important that comes out of the MBA is what is in student mind. The
important benefits of the MBA include not just the knowledge that one absorbs while on the
programme, but the necessary learning skills that accompany this. The two are combined in a
single system referred as knowledge management. It is argued that the MBA is a first step in a
process of lifelong learning, and this is a formulative learning experience. The ideas and skills
gained here will affect the students personal and professional life forever after. Many candidates go
into an MBA program seeking a career change. During recruitment season they find that their skills
are fairly valued only by businesses in the industry that they wanted to leave

The Scale Of Trade Credit
Trade credit, as defined by (Paul and Boden, 2008) allows customers to delay payments for goods
or services to a supplier for a specified period of time. Alternatively, Laffer (1970) defines trade
credit as a means through which money is transferred from economic entities possessing idle money
balances to entities in need of additional moneybalances (Laffer, 1970, pp. 242). Globally, the
scale of trade credit is significant such that in most developed countries it exceeds short term bank
credit (Blasio, 2003) and is an important way of financing firms working capital (Peel and Wilson,
1996; Paul and Boden, 2008).
At least 30% of all credit based sales in developed and emerging markets are paid outside the
agreed terms, with fewer paid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They did not, however, explain how their results relate to the theoretical literature on the financing
motive for trade credit.
Summers and Wilson (1999), using data from 655 UK firms, investigated the theoretical
motivations for the use of trade credit by firms for purchases. The demand for credit was modelled
as a function of transaction costs motivations, financing motivations, operational considerations,
seller compliance issues, supplier marketing, and environmental issues, while controlling for firm
characteristics such as size and industry. The results suggest that trade credit is generally perceived
as a cheap financing option, giving support for the financing motive. These findings for the UK
environment seem to contrast with Elliehausen Wolken (1993) who in their study of trade credit
demand in the USA state that sellers that extend trade credit typically offer cash discounts to
encourage early payment.
The most obvious reason as to why customers and indeed businesses use trade credit could be
attributed to the transactional theory. In the absence of trade credit, firms must pay for purchases
upon delivery. Seasonal businesses may demand extended credit terms due to their irregular cash
flows and to achieve balance in their cash conversion cycle (Wilson and Summers, 2002; Paul,
2004). Ferris (1981) when testing the transaction and financing theories

The Trend Of The American Hippie Movement
Introduction
The major trend of the American hippie movement from the 1960s had a major influence on the
way New Zealand used drugs and how international trends still influence drug use today. Drug
use patterns in New Zealand are very similar to other countries in the western world but also
shows how some popular trends of Hard Drugs did not become a huge problem due to the
isolation of New Zealand and how hard it was to bring in illegal drugs such as heroin. How
international trends and ideals reach New Zealand show how easy it is to influence a large
percentage of a population to try drugs, legal or not. The ideals of rebellion highlights the use of
drugs because of the moral values and rules set by mainstream society and the government. It is
and was an easy way to reject mainstream rules if you didn t want to live by them. The 1960s
created a culture of mass following that rejected mainstream life and rules that promoted peace
and love making the use of drugs morally okay because that is what they believed. As society
moved on from hippie culture it introduced drugs that were highly addictive and dangerous, in
comparison to the drugs that were widely used in the 60s and early 70s LSD and Marijuana have
been the safest drugs to use. Popular culture that grew in the 70s and 80s were punk and rock that
are easily recognised with being linked to drugs. Rebellious ideals became popular as it went
against mainstream society but also made a bad guy seem cool. This

Mandatory Minimum Sentencing For The United States Essay
Prison Reform People in The United States have been affected by the prison system, it has saved
many lives, but on the other hand, people have prosecuted for minor crimes, to end up spending
a lot of time in jail, which breaks apart families for far too long, it also creates a big rift between
the people of this fine nation and their distrust of the law. Back in the 1980s, President Ronald
Reagan has issued a law that has cut funding for the mental institutions in the United states as
called the deinstitutionalization of mental health, and to show ways of how we can bring our
mental health system into place. Also in the same era laws have been put in place to put harsher
laws on drug offenders called mandatory minimum sentencing, some people like non violent, first
time drug offender are being treated the same way as a drug lord, and a way that we can fix that is
push laws in congress to loosen minimum sentencing. Not to forget to mention the death penalty,
how tax payers are wasting our money on keep prisoners on death row. Having a poor mental health
system, strict mandatory minimum sentencing, racial bias in our prisons, and death penalty laws
has led people to enter our prisonsystem wrongfully. By fixing those rules we can help our society
grow, and achieve greatness by doing right to our prison system.
Dismantling our mental health has led to an increase of prisoners in the united states. Instead to
putting people mental asylums, we are putting them in prison, and

Genetic Determinism of Human Character Essay
Human character and behaviour are not only shaped by the genes that encompass the individual s
genotype. Human character comprising mainly of personality, sexuality, morality and intelligence
are the products of genetic determinism as well as external environmental factors. Single genes can
have surprisingly strong influences on particular aspects of behaviour. (Frank., 2009)
Genes build the phenotype of humans as well as the underlying genotype. Competition between
cultural genes leads to varied success of genetic determinism. It can therefore be said that learnt
traits such as those espoused within a specific culture, can produce what may seem to be the
genetic genotype of an individual. Genes are not always advantageous in the ... Show more content

This being said, there is not a specific gene for a specific trait. Traits are inherited although without
the environmental influence they are not expressed in an individual s phenotype.
Contrariwise, you can find genes under a microscope. They exist in nature. The same cannot be said
of either personality or intelligence. Behaviour, therefore, depends on the interaction of multiple
gene sequences with environmental influences. It has been found that 30 70% of one s personality
traits are genetic and the rest are environmental. (Gil, 2010) Genes are found in the DNA of a human
and genes are expressed through phenotypes (The set of observable characteristics of an individual
resulting from the interaction of its genotype with the environment (Google, 2014)). Each person
has a human genome sequence and the gene segments within ones genome have certain effects on
the body. Gene segments contain hereditary information and therefore certain genes can be and
associated with particular behavioural traits.
Genes and the environment influence behaviour, as there is constantly an interaction between the
two. Genes, via their influences on morphology and physiology, create a framework within which
the environment acts to shape the behaviour of an individual. The environment can affect
morphological and physiological development; therefore behaviour develops as a result of ones
interactions with the environment. Genes create the scaffold for

This outlines that when people have a sense of belonging they will thrive, and demonstrates the importance of work place culture and how it has a large influence on if a business is successful, in the same way that Cameron and Quinn explained (2011) that some of today s successful firms have developed a distinctive culture that is identifiable by its employees, for example Disney. Analysis Of The Book The Lottery Essay When I think of the lottery, I think of a game basically where they choose one number and something or something gets chosen. * Setting can best be defined as: B. Thy physical location, time, and social environment in which a story takes place. In the first paragraph, the setting is described as a beautiful sunny day that is during the summer. Everything is in bloom and the grass is green. Basically, during this first paragraph, the author describes it as a perfect day which shows how nice it is and making the reader not realize what the townspeople are actually going to do, which is the opposite of how this day really is. This sets a peaceful and happy tone and atmosphere throughout the beginning of the story. Mood can best be defined as: A. The emotional effect or feeling that a text creates in a reader. The mood that the villagers seem to be in is a happy and normal mood because they feel that the lottery is just another normal day. They are neither sad nor angry, just content and used to the tradition of doing the lottery. They act like nothing is wrong and do not care who dies. When people fled their homes in search of a new place, one of the many reasons was due to religious freedom. Almost immediately conflicts arose between religions, and their belief systems. No problems seem to arise with teaching religionto children in school until the 1900 s. That is when the courts decided religious instructions in public schools would be deemed unconstitutional. Court cases started around the country with people fighting against religious instruction in public schools, many accusing teachers of putting their beliefs in their teachings. The young, and impressionable minds of children should not be exposed to another persons religious beliefs because they can easily be swayed in a certain direction. This is why religious practices, such as prayer, and the teachings of creationism should not be allowed in public schools. Public schools should not be the place for religious practices for many reasons. Firstly, there a several different ways in which having those practices in public schools goes against the Constitution, and the Establishment Clause, which does not allow public schools to endorse any religion. Secondly, as children are minors in age, so are their minds. Children can easily be swayed in a certain direction if they witness an authority figure expressing a certain belief. The piano takes precedence with the cello sitting in the background yet when the listener thinks the pieces will be piano heavy, the cello takes over the piano withdraws to the background. The deep vibratos of the cello are contrasted with the light single key of the piano. This leads the listener to associate the cello with a lament and the piano for hope. With the onslaught of the Paris attacks, the question of whether or not America should accept more refugees now governs over American politics, originally a question that does not need questioning. Recently, Ann Coulter, an extreme conservative, posted an article named Importing Terrorism and Other American Values regarding America s vetting process and America s obligation towards refugees. Within her article, she ventures to devalue the vetting process and denounce refugees and immigrants alike as crimecarriers. Although her argument appears both logical and reasonable superficially, Coulter not only fails to cite her sources, but also demonstrates consistent mastery of logical fallacies, misuse of evidence, and shallow knowledge regarding immigrant and crime statistics. Coulter begins her article quoting President Obama, who referred to the rejection of refugees as, a betrayal of our [American] values (cite1). These laws are based on the idea of a social contract between two human beings that involves mutual rights between parties. In this answer I will describe how these laws can bring about peace in society. Since all of these laws are brought together through peace, according to Hobbes the first law deals with seeking out peace where war is not an option. Hobbes believes that in order for man to preserve life he must seek out peace and if peace is achieved this will prevent us from the state of war. In today s society our goal is to advance the global peace system by supporting and collaborating with peacebuilding efforts. The second law of nature deals with the surrendering of our natural rights in order to achieve peace that we are seeking. Gross national product of a specific country is the sum of the goods and services produced by citizens of a country domestically and the output from external sources which are owned/part of the specific country. For Neddy Merrill, the main character in The Swimmer by John Cheever, prosperity is solely associated with wealth and social standing. In this essay, I will argue that contrasting images of the public and private pools, encountered by Neddy swimming across his upper class neighbourhood, reflect his obsession with material and social success, which ultimately deserted him in desperation at the end of the story. Assessment Of The Residents Of Cliff Terrace The aim of this dissertation is to assess whether residents of Cliff Terrace, Treforest are reassured by neighbourhood policing in their community. This aim will be achieved by carrying out primary research in relation to feelings of reassurance amongst the residents. Evidence collated by Tuffin et al in 2006 suggests that certain acts when carried out by the policecan significantly reduce fear of crimeand increase levels of reassurance amongst the public. This evidence will be applied to the residents of Cliff Terrace to examine its effectiveness. In theory those who have witnessed, or experienced evidence of reassurance policing, for instance high visibility policing or a problem solving approach from the police etc. should have higher levels of reassurance than those who have not experienced or witnessed these acts (Tuffin et al, 2006). In the novel And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, it is apparent that the female characters are portrayed in a manner that is both derogatory and stereotypical. Whether the incidents include a fellow character or the author directly using offensive insults, portrayals of hysteria or weakness compared to the males, or downright treating the femaleprotagonists like objects or things, they are sometimes cruel and unnecessary. Throughout And Then There Were None, the female characters are described through hurtful stereotypes, objectification, and psychotic behaviors that may not be appropriate for impressionable young minds to be reading about, despite others suggesting otherwise. One of the largest problems with And Then There Were None is the use of offensive and hurtful stereotypes while referring to the women in the novel, as well as indirectly stating that all women should be homemakers who cook and clean. With a pioneering female writer such as Agatha Christie, you would not necessarily expect such blaring misogyny, but it remains all the same. On a broader note, the three main female characters are each stereotypes of the crazy woman one following under her husband even for cruelty, one being bible crazy, and one being so in love she is willing to literally kill anyone who stands in her way. This is evident from their growth from 100 to 140 in less than a year as compared to no growth of Deemed to be Universities in the same period. The private universities are working hard to attract students away from central and state universities by offering differentiated courses incorporating features like triple mains, super specializations, dual degrees, integrated programs, CBCS, and industry... What is important that comes out of the MBA is what is in student mind. The important benefits of the MBA include not just the knowledge that one absorbs while on the programme, but the necessary learning skills that accompany this. The two are combined in a single system referred as knowledge management. It is argued that the MBA is a first step in a process of lifelong learning, and this is a formulative learning experience. The ideas and skills gained here will affect the students personal and professional life forever after. Many candidates go into an MBA program seeking a career change. • 45. The Scale Of Trade Credit Trade credit, as defined by (Paul and Boden, 2008) allows customers to delay payments for goods or services to a supplier for a specified period of time. Alternatively, Laffer (1970) defines trade credit as a means through which money is transferred from economic entities possessing idle money balances to entities in need of additional moneybalances (Laffer, 1970, pp. 242). Globally, the scale of trade credit is significant such that in most developed countries it exceeds short term bank credit (Blasio, 2003) and is an important way of financing firms working capital (Peel and Wilson, 1996; Paul and Boden, 2008). At least 30% of all credit based sales in developed and emerging markets are paid outside the agreed terms, with fewer paid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They did not, however, explain how their results relate to the theoretical literature on the financing motive for trade credit. Summers and Wilson (1999), using data from 655 UK firms, investigated the theoretical motivations for the use of trade credit by firms for purchases. The demand for credit was modelled as a function of transaction costs motivations, financing motivations, operational considerations, seller compliance issues, supplier marketing, and environmental issues, while controlling for firm characteristics such as size and industry. The results suggest that trade credit is generally perceived as a cheap financing option, giving support for the financing motive. These findings for the UK environment seem to contrast with Elliehausen Wolken (1993) who in their study of trade credit demand in the USA state that sellers that extend trade credit typically offer cash discounts to encourage early payment. The most obvious reason as to why customers and indeed businesses use trade credit could be attributed to the transactional theory. In the absence of trade credit, firms must pay for purchases upon delivery. Seasonal businesses may demand extended credit terms due to their irregular cash flows and to achieve balance in their cash conversion cycle (Wilson and Summers, 2002; Paul, 2004). Ferris (1981) when testing the transaction and financing theories ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Trend Of The American Hippie Movement Introduction The major trend of the American hippie movement from the 1960s had a major influence on the way New Zealand used drugs and how international trends still influence drug use today. Drug use patterns in New Zealand are very similar to other countries in the western world but also shows how some popular trends of Hard Drugs did not become a huge problem due to the isolation of New Zealand and how hard it was to bring in illegal drugs such as heroin. How international trends and ideals reach New Zealand show how easy it is to influence a large percentage of a population to try drugs, legal or not. The ideals of rebellion highlights the use of drugs because of the moral values and rules set by mainstream society and the government. It is and was an easy way to reject mainstream rules if you didn t want to live by them. The 1960s created a culture of mass following that rejected mainstream life and rules that promoted peace and love making the use of drugs morally okay because that is what they believed. As society moved on from hippie culture it introduced drugs that were highly addictive and dangerous, in comparison to the drugs that were widely used in the 60s and early 70s LSD and Marijuana have been the safest drugs to use. Popular culture that grew in the 70s and 80s were punk and rock that are easily recognised with being linked to drugs. Rebellious ideals became popular as it went against mainstream society but also made a bad guy seem cool. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Mandatory Minimum Sentencing For The United States Essay Prison Reform People in The United States have been affected by the prison system, it has saved many lives, but on the other hand, people have prosecuted for minor crimes, to end up spending a lot of time in jail, which breaks apart families for far too long, it also creates a big rift between the people of this fine nation and their distrust of the law. Back in the 1980s, President Ronald Reagan has issued a law that has cut funding for the mental institutions in the United states as called the deinstitutionalization of mental health, and to show ways of how we can bring our mental health system into place. Also in the same era laws have been put in place to put harsher laws on drug offenders called mandatory minimum sentencing, some people like non violent, first time drug offender are being treated the same way as a drug lord, and a way that we can fix that is push laws in congress to loosen minimum sentencing. Not to forget to mention the death penalty, how tax payers are wasting our money on keep prisoners on death row. Having a poor mental health system, strict mandatory minimum sentencing, racial bias in our prisons, and death penalty laws has led people to enter our prisonsystem wrongfully. By fixing those rules we can help our society grow, and achieve greatness by doing right to our prison system. Dismantling our mental health has led to an increase of prisoners in the united states. Instead to putting people mental asylums, we are putting them in prison, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Genetic Determinism of Human Character Essay Human character and behaviour are not only shaped by the genes that encompass the individual s genotype. Human character comprising mainly of personality, sexuality, morality and intelligence are the products of genetic determinism as well as external environmental factors. Single genes can have surprisingly strong influences on particular aspects of behaviour. (Frank., 2009) Genes build the phenotype of humans as well as the underlying genotype. Competition between cultural genes leads to varied success of genetic determinism. It can therefore be said that learnt traits such as those espoused within a specific culture, can produce what may seem to be the genetic genotype of an individual. Genes are not always advantageous in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This being said, there is not a specific gene for a specific trait. Traits are inherited although without the environmental influence they are not expressed in an individual s phenotype. Contrariwise, you can find genes under a microscope. They exist in nature. The same cannot be said of either personality or intelligence. Behaviour, therefore, depends on the interaction of multiple gene sequences with environmental influences. It has been found that 30 70% of one s personality traits are genetic and the rest are environmental. (Gil, 2010) Genes are found in the DNA of a human and genes are expressed through phenotypes (The set of observable characteristics of an individual resulting from the interaction of its genotype with the environment (Google, 2014)). Each person has a human genome sequence and the gene segments within ones genome have certain effects on the body. Gene segments contain hereditary information and therefore certain genes can be and associated with particular behavioural traits. Genes and the environment influence behaviour, as there is constantly an interaction between the two. Genes, via their influences on morphology and physiology, create a framework within which the environment acts to shape the behaviour of an individual. The environment can affect morphological and physiological development; therefore behaviour develops as a result of ones interactions with the environment. Genes create the scaffold for ...
