No Electronic Theft Act
No Electronic Theft Act (NET) BIS/220 Introduction to Computer Application and Systems April 2,
2013 Copyright infringement has become a serious issue in today s world. Owners of this material lose
money every time an image or any material is used illegally. The Internet has brought about more
opportunities for someone to steal copyrighted material. An Internet user can simply copy and image,
save it, and use it for their own gain while the holder of the copyright of that image gets nothing. This
situation was becoming an issue so in 1997 the United States government enacted the No Electronic
Theft Act to help stop this from occurring. Description of the Act The No Electronic Theft (NET) Act
was enacted on December 16, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the right click did not work they could screen shot a page, drop it in Photoshop or any editing
program, and snip out the picture. Pictures were not the main culprit however. Music and movies are big
business and people were discovering ways to pirate these without paying for them. Peer sharing of
music and movie files were costing studios, record companies, artists, and actors a large amount of
money. Sharing these files is easy back in the mid 1990s and even easier today. Whether it be via PTP, e
mail, instant messaging, saving to a CD/DVD, or saving to a flash drive it is easy to give someone a
copy of a CD, DVD, or a single song. These advances in technology required something be done to
protect copyright holders from infringement. The Act was established for this reason. Conclusion The
No Electronic Theft Act was put into place to stop copyright infringement on all forms of electronic
media. These infringements cost copyright holders millions of dollars per year. The Act enables
prosecution for infringements even if they are not meant for financial gain. Since inception the Act has
been used to prosecute both people seeking gain and those who were not. The Act was necessary
because of the simplicity of sharing copyrighted materials and people s willingness to do so. The theft
of copyrighted material will likely never end but laws such as NET can help

How Does Natasha Romanoff Present The Russian Language In...
As the first female Avenger, Natasha Romanoff s physical attractiveness and her Russian heritage have
been emphasized most in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the beginning of The Avengers, she is
interrogated by Russian thugs in a Russian warehouse. Donned in a short, revealing black cocktail
dress, Romanoff slyly gains information from the thugs, while feigning ignorance. Thus, the film
suggests that she is untrustworthy because she can easily trick others. In addition, Romanoff s spoken
Russian in this scene reflects the misrepresentation of the Russian language in The Avengers. For a
woman born and raised in the Soviet Russia, Natasha Romanoff has a notably American accent in
comparison to the thug speaking Russian. Minor, yet explicitly antagonistic and foolish Russian
characters are cast with Slavic actors who can properly speak the language, yet when ... Show more

Therefore, The Avengers uses the vilified Russian identity for entertainment. Furthermore, the scene
emphasizes Romanoff s characterization as a Russian beauty. During the conversation, the thug
comments on Romanoff s beauty: she is just a pretty face. Romanoff appears to question this statement,
with a quipped retort: You really think that I m pretty? However, the visual depiction of an ensuing fight
suggests that the one of the most important components of Romanoff s characterization is her attractive
face and bust. As she throws punches, including one seemingly from her bright red hair, the camera
angles frame to flaunt Romanoff s upper body. The final shot of the fight features her glistening face
and bust in the middle of the frame. Just as the dialogue suggests, Romanoff s physical beauty is
emphasized. Therefore, being a distinctly Russian woman in The Avengers entails the highlighting of an
appealing visual aesthetic, the misrepresentation of language, and an ability to trick

Government Intervention John Micklethwait
Market failures exist when the private enterprise cannot efficiently produce goods and services arising
from externalities, limitation of market, transaction costs and asymmetrical information. Just as the
private sector in the free economy has produced market failures, government intervention is necessary
to address these failures because there is no invisible hand that could instinctively fix the situation.
Mindful of Milton Friedman s disapproval for costly government intervention and John Micklethwait s
qualified favor for such public action, my principles of government or nonprofit intervention are built
upon the essence that the government must protect the democratic values of liberty, equality, equity and
public welfare of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inherently, self interest motivates market producers to pursue their economic goal of profit
maximization even at the expense of their competitors, an illustration of prisoner s dilemma. Businesses
have used production inputs that permanently damaged common natural resources such as petroleum
reserves, earth s atmosphere and biodiversity. Other effects include global warming and depleted
resources for future generations. Privatization of the common pool goods does not guarantee that the
market can avert the phenomenon. The government will have to inevitably assign specific property
rights over renewable natural resources. Alternatively, the state can also adopt policies that encourage
private enterprise or individuals to develop or use green energies as alternative to the traditional energy
sources in the case of the Environmental Protection Agency. Lastly, the government can complement
with nonprofits in implementing programs that address market failures. Nonprofits are not bounded by
profit distribution thereby facilitating them to adopt missions to sustain social value and continuously
pursue opportunities to innovate, learn and adapt. As an example, World Wildlife Fund has a mission of
environmental conservation and implements activities to protect the global natural

Mehmet Oz uses his religion in his practices of medicine to bring help to the sick. He has a different

energy healing, and massage. He wants patients to heal themselves so to speak instead of relying on
drugs to do the work. His medical practices ties into his religions of Sufism and his study of

Holcomb, Kansas In Truman Capote s In Cold Blood
Out there is the phrase used to describe Holcomb, Kansas in the story In Cold Blood by Truman Capote.
Capote paints a picture of a small, run down, and insignificant western town using imagery, careful
attention to detail, and diction. Upon reading, readers are immediately transported to the prairie, where
things will soon become far more eventful. Using imagery, Capote make the slow town of Holcomb
more than a name. He sketches a mental picture starting from a distance and slowly working its way in.
The town is masterfully illustrated as a desolate wasteland. From the stark old stucco structures to the
flaking gold paint, Capote makes it very evident that Holcomb, Kansas is no in the running for America
s Most Beautiful Town award.

Randolph Hearst Case Study
Part B: i) Describe the rise to prominence of William Randolph Hearst
William Randolph Hearst was an influential figure in the late 19th and early 20th century through his
domination of the American media for almost half a century. Through his use of sensationalistic and
yellow journalism, Hearst successfully built his news corporation, Hearst Communications, which at its
height of prevalence owned over 30 American newspapers, 18 magazines and several radio stations.
William Randolph Hearst s privileged upper class upbringing was a significant influence and factor in
his rise to prominence in the American media during the late 19th and early 20th century. Before being
expelled, Hearst was inspired by Joseph Pulitzer s New York World newspaper and worked as an editor
for the Harvard Lampoon at Harvard university. At age 24, his multimillionaire father bestowed his
failing San Francisco Examiner newspaper to him in hope that it would reform his delinquent
behaviours. The social problems of the Gilded Age (1870s 1900) created a social dynamic in the
American public which Hearst was able to successfully build his newspaper the San Francisco
Examiner into the most widely read newspaper in San Francisco. He adopted a sensational brand of
reporting, which later was referred to as yellow journalism which used hyperbolic and misinformed
speculations and half truths which headlined the front page of the paper. Through his use of
sensationalistic and yellow journalism William

Epstein Barr Research Paper
Epstein Barr Virus, also known as human herpesvirus type 4, is a common infectious virus that will
affect greater than 85% of the population at least once in their lifetime. The virus was first discovered
by, and named after, Sir Michael Anthony Epstein and Yvonne Mr. Barr in 1964 in the midst of
researching a case of Burkitt s lymphoma. The Epstein Barr virus is predominately found in a host s
saliva, and is transmitted through direct and indirect contact with the infected person s bodily fluids.
Epstein Barr virus (EBV) is responsible for numerous infections that can take place throughout the
body, most commonly acute infectious mononucleosis. Infectious mononucleosis, simply referred to as
mono, is an illness that is directly caused by the Epstein Barr virus and can frequently affect toddlers,
teenagers, and adults. EBV, along with infectious mononucleosis, is primarily spread from person to
person orally through the following acts: kissing, sharing food and drinks, and coming in contact with
contaminated objects, such as toothbrushes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Antibiotics are not usually prescribed to those infected because they are considered an ineffectual
treatment of Epstein Barr virus and its secondary virus, mononucleosis. However, over the counter
medications such as acetaminophen can be taken, but will only reduce fever and pain associated with
symptoms and will not treat the virus itself. Those in the recovering stage will be instructed by a
physician to get a sufficient amount of sleep, stay hydrated, and use pain relievers for any pain and
fevers that may arise. Confirmation of Epstein Barr Virus can come from a mono spot test and complete
blood count (CBC) testing if the mono spot test produces a negative result. Typically, a physician will

The Case Of Belize V Belize Telecom
CONTRACT LAW ASSESSED ESSAY QUESTION 2015 2016 Implied Terms Student ID 1620923
Word Count 1,999 Introduction In Privy Council decision Attorney General of Belize v Belize Telecom
(Belize thereafter), Lord Hoffmann in delivering the leading judgment, assimilated the implication of
term and contractual interpretation resulting in the well known traditional tests: business efficacy and
officious bystander merely as auxiliary role in discovering the the objective intention of the contract.
Even though the Belize test has long been accepted by the English and the New Zealand courts,
Singapore court seems to have reservations. A great deal of debate surrounds the issue as to the roles of
the Belize test to be afforded to two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second part will base on the observation in first argument and argue that implication of term is part
of the process of interpretation. Along the argument, author will strive to argue that the criticisms
towards Lord Hoffmann s are unconvincing. Argument One How Should We Understand the Necessity
The author argues that the operation of Belize test should be understood as: A term has to be fit in either
of the traditional test, but before the implication, it has to be checked by Belize that is in congruence
with the reasonable interpretation of the contract as a whole. However, there are some fears that the role
of necessity has been trumped by reasonableness in Belize that will consequently lead to the court
making the contract for the parties. The preliminary issue is how should we understand necessity . Some
say it is necessary to make the contract work. Some others propose that it is meant to give effect to the
intention of the parties. To uphold the principle of freedom of contract, the court must give effect to
what the contractual parties intended therefore the court does not inquire into the subjective intention of
the either party. In Liverpool City Council and Philips both stress the importance of necessity. Yet we
should be careful in both cases they did not nevertheless totally eliminated the role of reasonableness.
The difficult here lies in how the court could

The Basketball Association And The Nba
The National Basketball Association, or the NBA, is a men s professional basketball league in the USA.
The National Basketball Association was born in 1949 after the Basketball Association of America and
the National Basketball League merged as one. Maurice Podoloff was elected head of the new league
that consisted of seventeen teams which came from cities and towns all across the country. The NBA
did not have a great start with its teams dwindling to only eight teams in the 1950s. At this point, the
league transformed the game with the addition of the shot clock. The shot clock in the NBA is 24
seconds, meaning the offensive team has 24 seconds from the time they inbound the ball until the ball
hits the rim on their side of the court. This addition increased the pace of the game and made it more fun
for fans to watch. Their transformation worked, and the league returned to a financially stable one in the
1960/70s. Today, the NBA has millions of fans from all walks of life, all over the world. The league
now consists of 30 teams from various states in North America as well as one team from Canada. The
teams are divided into two conferences and then three divisions of five teams each. To play the sport of
basketball there are players; five on the court at a time, coaches, a basketball, two hoops, high top shoes
to protect player s ankles, and a court with specific lines painted out to represent boundaries.
As a league, the NBA makes roughly 5.18 billion dollars

Gender and Movie Selection Essay example
Gender and Movie Selection
Introduction:
A very diverse, broad, and extensive industry is the filmmaking industry. However, the unique aspect of
the industry is that it is so expansive in all of the different categories and types of movies, but yet each
film is individualized. A certain characteristic of a movie may appeal to one person and not another.
Such characteristics may not only appeal to an individual but to a certain group of people. Could it be
that characteristics of a film appeal to either the male gender or the female gender? Is there a difference
in the category of movie that a male chooses as opposed to one that a female chooses? Such questions

During the observation, I observed ten males and ten females in the video section of Giant Eagle at
7:00pm on a Friday night. All of the twenty subjects were of college age and appeared to be at the store
alone. I specially looked for the type of movie each person would select. By doing this observation, I
anticipated to see what people really choose. Since the subjects were unaware that I was watching them,
they had no pressure to select a certain type of movie and could chose freely. In other ways of collecting
data such as a survey or interview, people may be reluctant to be honest about some details. Through
observation, there were no doubts if the subject was being dishonest because they freely chose the
movie without even realizing I was watching them.
A second route that I chose to collect data was to administer a survey to ten college age people. Of these
ten people, five of them were females and five of them were males. The survey was given to these
people while they were in their college dorm rooms. There were six questions on the survey, including a
gender question, how many movies does the subject watch in an average month, and what are these
movies classified as, adventure or romance/romantic comedy. The final two questions dealt with who
the subject mostly watches movies with and if they normally get to choose the movie when watching

19th Century Industrialization Essay
19th Century Industrialization Nineteenth Century Industrialization During the second half of the
nineteenth century, the United States experienced an urban revolution unparalleled in world history up
to that point in time. As factories, mines, and mills sprouted out across the map, cities grew up around
them. The late nineteenth century, declared an economist in 1889, was not only the age of cities, but the
age of great cities. Between 1860 and 1910, the urban population grew from 6 million to 44 million.
The United States was rapidly losing its rural roots. By 1920, more than half of the population lived in
urban areas. The rise of big cities during the nineteenth century created a distinctive urban culture.

mark of nearly 9 million in the first decade of the new century. The numbers declined to 6 million in the
1910s and 4 million in the 1920s, after which official restrictions cut the flow of immigration down to a
negligible level. (Tindall, 938) Immigrants thought of America as a land of opportunity and felt that

11. A. Ionic bonds are formed when elements give up their outermost electrons to another element or
atom, resulting in an ion , according to the Biological Molecules and pH lab. An example of this, is
when one atom becomes a negatively charged anion from taking a negative electron from another atom,
that other atom becomes a positively charged cation. These two atoms attract each other because they
have now become oppositely charged.
B. Covalent bonds are formed when two atoms share electrons. The amount of bond (single, double,

amount of electrons needed in order to fill the outer shell. For example, if the outer shell of hydrogen
contains 5 electrons, than that hydrogen atom can form 5 possible

The membership economy is growing and with it comes a shift in revenue generation and consumer
demands. Adapting to these changes isn t optional. It s a requirement for all companies seeking to stay
in business.
From software to healthcare, multiple industries are adjusting from standard one time purchases to
recurring pricing models. Customers would rather subscribe to on demand Internet streaming providers,
instead of purchasing a DVD.
As new competitors emerge, this model will influence consumer expectations and market behaviors.
Brands will engage customers through marketing campaigns, leading to long term relationships.
So, how will these changes affect you? Let s discuss how your company can thrive with a recurring

Then, create a strategy to monetize these relationships.
Make your customers lives better, and they will be less reluctant to make the shift from owner of
products to subscriber of services.
Why Recurring Pricing Makes Sense
Companies adopt the recurring pricing model to create strategic business opportunities. A study by
Ventana Research shows that the primary business drivers for using such a model are increasing the top
line, enhancing the customer experience, and increasing customer loyalty.
Source
Generating a steady cash flow reassures executives and keeps investors profitable. Recurring pricing
gives companies a clear outlook on next month s income; no more relying on revenue estimations.
Moreover, businesses can plan for growth. A stable revenue source means you don t have to secure one
off contracts just to make payroll. Time and energy can be directed toward expansion, like hiring new
employees.
However, in the membership economy, companies must continually offer value to their consumers to
succeed. How do customers when with this model?
Recurring pricing offers reliability to consumers. In developed countries, most people expect running
water to be available 24/7. It s a given. This mindset is expanding to Internet access. We expect every
grocery store, coffee shop, and hotel chain to offer Wi Fi.

Two Main Types Of Therapeutic Cloning
Argumentative Writing Rough Draft There are two main types of cloning that are known about,
therapeutic cloning and reproductive cloning. Therapeutic cloning is when you take a small sample of
DNA and insert into an embryo to make the embryo to have healthy parts. The parts are accepted by our
body because they are from your DNA. Therapeutic cloning does not happen naturally in nature and it is
asexual. Reproductive cloning is another type of cloning and unlike therapeutic cloning is sometimes
occurs in nature. An example of natural reproductive cloning is meiosis and plants. This is asexual as
well since it is an exact replica of DNA from one sample. Cloning may have many benefits but it has
downsides. Cloning is a crude science that should not be researched upon because of its ... Show more

Reproductive cloning is when you get an offspring asexually that has a copy of your DNA and has the
same features as you. Some may argue that a clone would not know it is a clone until it is told. This
logic according to others also are the same for people who segregate clones. Clones can not be
identified unless you are told they are a clone, however if a person looks identical to their parents and
has the same behavior patterns it is most likely a clone. It does not take a scientist to figure that out.
Even if clones were integrated into society and they are not segregated they could become criminals or
possibly have a genetic mutation. If regular humans can resort to crime so can a clone. Clones being

advanced computer technologies in communication between hardware control systems and in decision
making processes on various tasks. Many advanced studies have been achieved under the name of ITS,
and they include the application of Artificial Intelligence, such as Knowledge Based Expert System
(KBES) which will be dealt with in this report.
KBES has implemented in limited fields of transportation; it is mainly used in pavement management
system including road maintenance and road rehabilitation. Previous implementation of KBES in
transportation field are briefly reviewed in the following section. In addition, potential applications of
KBES are discussed by focusing on the Traffic Adaptive Signal Control System, which is under the ITS
project and is suggested to be designed to use KBES by many researchers.
III. Discussion
KBES is an intelligent computer program that uses the knowledge and inference procedures of human
experts to solve difficult problems, and it is not robustly studied in the field of

Steroids Damage both Athletes and Sports Essay
Athletes have passed or failed many tests in their life time. Either on the field or off the field it s safe to
say it would be better if they pass. Failing a test in the class room just means a bad grade. Failing a test
in the sports world means an athlete can lose their job, get suspended, lose money, and lose their loyal
fans and much more. Athletes can be drug tested for basically anything whether it is illegal drugs or
performance enhancing drugs. Steroids are obviously the most well known drug in sports. There are
three different types of steroids. Anabolic steroids are chemically derived from testosterone. They are
seen in growth and thickening of the body s non reproductive tract tissues and have a decrease in body
fat. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Roughly 100 players tested positive for performance enhancing drugs in 2003, the first year of testing.
(Tomase par 2) Of those 100 names that tested positive, one very important name that sticks out is Barry
Bonds. Barry Bonds is the all time leading home run hitter with 762 home runs. Bonds is charged with
10 counts of making false declarations to a grand jury and one count of obstruction of justice. ( Bonds
personal trainer S03) Greg Anderson was his personal trainer who collected urine samples from Bonds.
After spending a year in jail, Anderson is considered a vital witness for the government as it tries to
prove Bonds lied to a grand jury investigating steroid use by athletes. ( Bonds personal trainer S03)
Another big name on that list is former league most valuable player Alex Rodriguez who is arguably the
best player in baseball the past couple seasons. He tested positive for two different anabolic steroids.
The mentality of needing to hit a 3 run homer with nobody on base. It s that pressure that drove him to
experiment with banned substances. (Roberts and Epstein par. 3) Alex Rodriguez says I felt like I had
all the weight in the world on top of me and I needed to perform and perform at a high level everyday.

Drug testing athletes has sizeable amounts of benefits. One of those benefits is catching athletes using

Importance of Grammar Essay
A. Introduction
It is not uncommon to say that grammar instruction plays an important role in language teaching.
Regarding the status and importance of grammar teaching, a variety of opinions have been made.
Batstone (1994) states that language without grammar would be chaotic: countless words without the
indispensable guidelines for how they can be ordered and modified (p. 4). More vividly, Wang (2010)
makes two similes. She compares grammar to the frame of a house, which is a decisive factor to ensure
the solidness of it. Additionally, she regards grammar as a walking stick, whose function is to help and
support students to learn English. Thus, the nature of grammar instruction manifests its own
significance as it helps students ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the third part, three pedagogical implications will be presented. In addition, a grammar activity and
its theoretical rationale will be respectively reported in the fourth and fifth part before the final
conclusion is displayed.
B. Evaluation of Miss Wong s Teaching Approach
B(1). Teaching philosophy
It is teachers beliefs rather than their knowledge that have a greater influence on their instruction
(William Burden, 2000). Meighan suggests seven kinks of teachers beliefs about learners: resisters,
receptacles, raw materials, clients, partners, individual explorers and democratic explorers. Unlike the
first three concepts which focus on teachers, the last four require learners active involvement (as cited in
William Burden, 2000). In Miss Wong s teaching approach, a PPP model (i.e., Presentation, Practice
and Production) is generally adopted. She firstly presents target grammatical structure of passive voice.
Then students do some exercises along with teacher s answer checking. However, it seems the final
production step is omitted, resulting in students lacking opportunities to apply the knowledge into other
contexts. From her instruction, we can see Miss Wong tends to regard her students as receptacles that
are required to absorb the items she transmits. What the instruction concerns is whether students can
transform sentences from active to passive or vice verse from a structural level, which is a typical
example of a

Facts About The Best Evidence Rule
The best evidence rule is a rule that applies when someone wants to admit some form of evidence that is
a document but the actual original document is not available for admission. Unfortunately, when this
happen the party that wants to admit the evidence has to give an acceptable excuse to why the original
documents are unavailable or absent. Therefore, the courts has to decide if the excuse is acceptable and
allow the party to use their secondary evidence in order to prove their case or that the content of the

Therefore, the U.S. court system implemented this rule but if one party suspects that the copy or copies
have been altered or it s a fraud than this comes into play for that case.
The rationale behind its application was to find the best evidence within a case but due to fraud and the
mishandling of evidence this rule was created. It helps to prevent anyone from trying to mislead or even
lie about a certain piece of evidence. Furthermore, it eliminates anyone from having to guess if in fact
that the evidence is from the actual original copy of if some part of the evidence had been changed at
some point in order to get a guilty or innocent verdict in the case.
After reviewing each the case of Olmstead v. United States, Nardone v. United States, Goldman v.
United States, Berger v. New York and Katz v. United States I have found that each one of these case
dealt with wiretapping and whether it was legal for the police or government to tap into their phone
lines and use the evidence found in tapping in court as evidence in order to get a guilty verdict. For
example, in the case of Olmstead v. United States individuals were convicted of liquor related crimes to
include conspiracy. Now the main person in the conspiracy was the general manager of the business
which was Olmstead. The business had main office was in

The Causes Of Short Stories
Unease. Thrilling. Surprise. These are simply three feelings tossed at the reader in a one page story.
Short short stories often have the effect of making the reader feel uneasy. When stories are short, a
writer tends to jump directly into the story with something interesting or alarming to grab the reader s
attention. Quite often, the more uneasy the writing, the more it leaves an effect on the reader. Sudden
Fiction is a book filled with a collection of short stories from different authors; the maximum length of
a story is three pages long. This not only causes the reader to feel ???? with the content, but also
uncomfortable with the title of the literary work. Without a doubt, the short story that made me feel the
most uneasy was Reading the Paper . On the other hand, the story that I felt more comfortable reading
was The Reunion .
First of all, Reading the Newspaper is about a women s average day, or at least it seems to be average
from the way the writer portrays it. When she is talking to several people about the death of her family
members, who had died the previous night, she is washing the blood stains out while doing her the
laundry. This becomes shocking to a reader to read that someone is functioning as if something horrific
did not happen. Typically, someone who has lost their family members, like this character, would not be
in the right state of mind to do her laundry. One could assume that she is clearly traumatized. In addition
to that, another

Pro Choice Vs. Pro-Abortion
All I m going to say is there is a difference between pro choice and pro abortion. Pro choice is
understanding that you have no control over what another woman does with her body. Pro choice is
understanding that people make their own decisions based on their life. Pro choice is not necessarily
approving of abortion, it s allowing people to make decisions, which is why it s called pro CHOICE. If
you are pro life, you are saying an unborn fetus is equivalent in value as a born child. If a fire was
destroying a building which an unborn fetus and a living baby we re trapped inside, and you could only
save one, which one would you choose? A pro life person would find it impossible to choose, because

Malcolm X Contributions
A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything (Lawrence A. Mamiya) is a quote said by Malcolm
X. The quote means that those who do not have strong values or opinions, may be influenced easily. Or
if you do not stand up for yourself you will be taken advantage of. Malcolm X was an important and
influential figure in history that had a positive impact on the world because, of his ability to state his
believes and to critic the public and government about important, real life issues. Malcolm X was born
on May 19, 1925 in a large city in Nebraska called Omaha. Malcolm s father was a Baptist minister and
a follower of a black nationalist leader named Marcus Garvey. In the earliest stages of Malcolm s life,
his family moved around a lot because of racism. They were often threatened by the Klu Klux Klan, and
at one point their house was burned down. Unfortunately Malcolm s father was found dead on the street,
many family members had suspicion and said that he was killed by whites but the police denied. A few
years later Malcolm and his 10 siblings were separated in foster homes, due to their mother being sent
to a mental hospital. For a while Malcolm lived with his half sister, he was described as a studious boy.
But at one point he lost interest when a teacher told him he should become a carpenter instead of a
lawyer. In 1940, he dropped out of high school at the age of 15. After that he was known as Detroit Red

Corner Of Bitter And Sweet
I am going to be reflecting on the book Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet in this essay. I
definitely enjoyed this book because of the story being told and the way it transitions chapter to chapter
between old Henry and young Henry. I also am myself very interested in the World War 2 era in history
and it is very interesting to see the war from a Chinese or Japanese Americans perspective as opposed to
an only American perspective. (On page 12) I don t like that Henry s parents make him speak in only
English, especially because Henry s parents don t (for the most part) know how to speak English. I
would understand if Henry s parents made him speak only English in public, but I think he should be
able to speak in Cantonese to his parents. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I also think the way Henry describes this is great because, in a way it might not be old news, it might
just be that people are not talking about because of fear or sadness because old news is also something
that people don t talk about. Henry woke to the sound of a police cruiser (Page 61) I don t like that this
young boy has to wake up the sound of police sirens. Usually, young boys wake up to toys or a pet to
play with but not Henry today. Even for a boy of Henry s age, it would be scary to wake up to sirens. I
would be scared today at the age of fifteen to wake up to sirens. I ll be here where am I going to go
(Page 164) I think it is very sad that Henry has to see his friend like this locked up in a cage like an
animal or criminal. A twelve year old boy should not have to deal with such an experience in his young
life. In closing, I think the book is awesome and I really enjoyed reading it. The dialogue was writing
amazingly and the characters traits and beliefs were on key. I also really enjoyed the relationships

Zoologist Dr. Weizhi Ji theorizes that this technology will be used to extend the human lifespan (481).
Extending lifespans is an example of unneeded editing, and would increase the tremendous pressure on
the already strained healthcare systems of the world, as well as the social security system in the United
States. Likewise, removing genetic diseases would remove some pressure from the world healthcare
systems; those that would be born with diseases would be born without them and any treatment they
would have needed would be futile. Editing genes brings along with it a whole new set of benefits and
drawbacks, by only allowing edits for genetic diseases and birth defects the amount of drawbacks is
reduced drastically. Gene editing is brand new and there is no way to see all of it s effects, but starting
by only allowing the most vital edits the world is given a small but sufficient platform to analyze the
effects of this new technology.
Evolution is when an organism develops a trait which is useful to it in it s environment, and then passes
it onto its offspring. These traits give that organism an advantage over other organisms of it s species,
and usually in the wild it leads to the demise of the other, now separate, species. Gene editing is similar
to evolution, but it will not likely lead to the extinction of unaltered humans. It can, however, create a
divide between two distinct species. Humans

Now a days everyone has some sort of social media page including the younger generations, however
anyone under the age of 18 has to lie on their page because it s not meant for kids. Because of the
expanding popularity of social media I believe that kids are growing up faster than they need to. When I
was younger I was still playing with my Barbie dolls into 8th grade so around 13/14 years old. My
cousin has a 13 year old daughter to constantly posts on facebook how she is going to be alone forever
and that she will never meet a good guy. At 13 years old she should not be concerned about boys,
especially not finding the one she is going to spend the rest of her life with!
This all being said I think that the popularity of social media is taking away from young girls being
young which is causing them to stray away from childhood toys like Barbies and Bratz. Also with the
popularity of an internet meme taking the Barbie and Bratz image and suggesting things in a mature
manner causes people to look at them in a manner aside from being a child s play thing. 4. Do you think

A Domestic Dilemma Character Analysis
Carson McCullers usage of literary elements, including setting, character, and conflict, contributes to
the overall development of the theme of patience that is present throughout the book. Martin Meadows,
the protagonist in the story, is portrayed as a hardworking and persevering man with a great amount of
love for his family; the story recounts a day when Martin arrives home from work to a mentally absent
wife who is supposed to be taking care of the children. McCullers grants Martin Meadows the gift of
patience in order to cope with the conflict and his drunk wife. Without the usage of these details and
elements, the ideas presented in the story would not have been as powerful. A Domestic Dilemma is a
story that is remembered and the purpose is made clear through McCullers usage of setting, description
of character and development of conflict. The changing setting helps articulate a message of patience
and perseverance, especially when describing how the setting affects the characters of Martin and
Emily. Both Martin and Emily find themselves going through a similar adjustment, but they have
different ways of coping with the change. Martin has to relocate his family due to changing
circumstances in his job, and he doesn t realize until after his company transfers him to New York that
his wife is suffering. Emily then turns to alcohol to cope with her discomfort; this leads to issues within

Essay on Aristotle s Concept of Tragedy Applied to Hamlet
Aristotle s Concept of Tragedy Applied to Hamlet
Aristotle s concept of a well written tragedy is that it is ...an imitation of an action that is serious,
complete, and of a certain magnitude, in language embellished with each kind of artistic ornament, the
several kinds being found in separate parts of the play, the form of action, not of narrative, through pity
and fear effecting the proper purgation of these emotions (McManus). According to Aristotle, the plot is
the soul of the tragedy from which the other parts such as characters, diction, thought, spectacle, and
melody stem (McManus). Shakespeare skillfully applies Aristotle s concept of tragedy, to Hamlet in

(Shakespeare 1.5.40), as he realizes the deception, betrayal, and his painful present and future. This
marks the beginning of the cause and effect chain that turns into catastrophe with the death of Polonius
and Ophelia, which eventually leads to the tying up or the final scene of suffering with four dead bodies
on the stage. Another anagnorisis within the plot is when Hamlet receives confirmation that what his
father s spirit told him was true as he observes his uncle s reaction while watching a band of actors
performing a crime scene similar to that of his father s murder. This scene would not only prove to be
important only to anagnorisis, but would also intensify Hamlet s misery and further the development of
his tragic flaw. Once more meeting the expectations of Aristotle s theory of tragedy.
Every Aristolian tragedy must contain a protagonist of high estate who falls from prosperity to misery
through a series of reversals and discoveries as a result of a tragic flaw (McManus). Hamlet, the prince
of Denmark, is born into nobility. This position in the social hierarchy would definitely qualify as one of
high estate. Shakespeare also made Hamlet s intellectual capacity apparent. Hamlet often debates many
theological issues, thus revealing his superior mind and education.

Dramatism Review on Revenge

The Golden Globe nominated television show Revenge, debuted in 2010. Revenge was produced and
created by Mike Kelly. The drama television series is about Emily Thorne who is really Amanda Clarke,
whose father was framed for treason when she was a little girl. After a lengthy trial, he was imprisoned

Hamptons as an adult to get revenge on those who wronged her father. Not only is Revenge entertaining
it also pushes the norm to see how far you will go for someone you love. I will dissect this television
series into five different elements act, agent(s), agency, scene, and purpose. In Revenge the act is Emily
pushing for revenge against the Grayson s. The agent is Emily Thorne (Amanda Clarke). The agency is
her background on the Grayson s, Nolan Ross, and her background in martial arts. Nolan Ross is
basically her sidekick and guardian angel. He keeps her grounded and watches her back. He keeps her
on track and points out her options. The scene is set in the Hamptons with Emily planning her revenge
against the people who wronged her father. Family, honor, duty, and love (Amanda goal is to clear her
father and she shows no bounds for which she will go to do this) are the purpose for this show. After

The Concept Of A Naval Battle
The concept of a naval battle has been around since approximately 1210 B.C.E. However, it would be
several thousands of years before its most important and revolutionary changes would be brought about.
The idea of a submersible ship has been around since the Revolution, although its success was minimal
at best. The first modern submarine would be developed in the late 19th century and would be first used
successfully in warfare by the Germans in World War 1. It arguably led to the American s victory over
Japan in World War II. Since their development submarines have paved the way for the evolution of
strategy, revolutionary new tactics, as well as playing a vital role in the nuclear triad, redefining war.
No longer would the Mahanian strategy of a decisive battle be the norm, nor considered the best way to
fight naval battles. With the advent of the submarine, navies could now look into denying their enemies
the sea rather than struggling to control it (Hughes, n.d.). A contributing aspect of this sea denial is the
ability to greatly extend coastal defense. Coastal defense can not be looked at in a traditional sense.
These ships are not looking to simply defend the coast, but rather are cruising thousands of miles of
shore to sink as much of the enemy fleet as possible, thereby crippling their ability to attack
(Lautenschlager, 1987). Submarines also introduce a new element to psychological warfare. As stated in
Karl Lautenschlager s publication for International Security,

The Supreme Court Of India
1. INTRODUCTION
Most social movements in India since the 1970s have actively used the Courts especially the Supreme
Court as a part of their struggles. This has been possible because of the higher Courts activism,
especially under the guidance and action of Public Interest Litigation. Through the instrument of Public
Interest Litigation, the Court liberated itself from traditional constraints in the legal system so as to
reach out to the weaker sections of Indian humanity.
The Supreme Court of India has adopted a forward looking approach since last few years, particularly
having regard to the socio economic conditions prevailing in the country. In fact there are two kinds of
approaches which characterise the functioning of the highest Court in every democracy. Either the Court
adopts an activist approach or resigns itself to passive role. In a country like India, judges adopt an
activist approach to bring about social and economic change and to improve the life conditions of the
people and make basic human rights available to them. The Supreme Court has revolved a new doctrine
of judicial activism with a view of making basic human rights meaningful and effective for the deprived
and exploited sections of humanity.
Judiciary is the third wing of the Government empowered to administer justice to the people of India.
The Courts are protectors of an individual s Fundamental and Legal Rights when they are violated. But

Although plant stanols and stenols are extracted naturally from plant based sources that are considered

Treat Heartburn
How to treat Heartburn
Heartburn is actually a symptom of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), and is caused by acid
refluxing back into the esophagus. Risk factors include those that increase the production of acid in the
stomach, as well as structural problems that allow acid reflux into the esophagus.
Despite its name, heartburn has nothing to do with the heart. Some of the symptoms, however, are
similar to those of a heart attack or heart disease. Heartburn is an irritation of the esophagus that is
caused by stomach acid. This can create a burning discomfort in the upper abdomen or below the breast
bone.

A Research Study On New Key Markets
Studying more deeply the geographic population, finding new key markets ready to be pierced by a new
identifiable group with specific needs, is something I want to do. Being an entrepreneur that is studying
carefully the rising market of elderly people seeking to upgrade their standard vehicle to a mobility
vehicle and selling it to them is something I am looking forward to. This segment of the population is
rising, now that the baby boomers are in their retirement years.
The article is old (10 years old), but the information is still relevant and the currency does not matter in
the sense where we shouldn t pay attention to this potential market because the elderly population is still
raising ...and by 2020 that number is expected to double, surpassing 40 million. (said Guyette p.24).
This article could be considerate even as recent since the baby boomers ended in the mid 60s and the
market is still rising.
It is also relevant to a potential career as a Marketing researcher and in entrepreneurship, as it explains
the low implication of dealerships to sell mobility vehicles and insurance company repairing the
potential damages made inadequately. Also, collision shops seem unprepared to repair these issues.
These issues are caused by unprepared people towards this market, which is relevant to the challenges I
will face.

Pros And Cons Of Drinking And Driving Essay
If you just got your license, all of your focus when you drive should be on the road. That is easy to do
when you are the only person in the vehicle. However, if you have to transport other people s children
now that you have a license, it can be a little more challenging to give the road your undivided attention
when you have kids in the vehicle with you. Here are a few tips to help you drive with kids in your
vehicle.
Prepare In Advance
Make sure that you are prepared in advance to have young kids in your car. If they still require car seats
or booster seats, make sure that you know how to install them in your vehicle before you put the
children in your car.
If you are going to be transporting young children, try to provide them with something to do so that the

Make sure that their car and booster seats are secured and properly installed in your vehicle.
Additionally, make sure that the children are properly buckled up.
Pull Over If The Children Need Assistance
Your primary job when driving with children in your vehicle is to keep your focus on the road. You can
glance back in your rear view mirror to check on them, but you should be focused on the road and
traffic around you.
If an emergency arises, do not try to turn around and address it while you are driving.Pull over as
quickly as you can, put on your hazard lights, and address the issue. Trying to take care of the children
and drive at the same time could result in a serious accident.
When driving with children in your vehicle, make sure that you know where you are going so your not
distracted looking for road signs while driving. Make sure that the children are safe and secure in their
seats, and have something to entertain themselves with, while you are driving. Prepare the kids first and
make sure that are safe and secure before you turn on your vehicle and get on the

The Causes Of High School Students
It s not stress that kills us, it is our reaction to it. Hans Selye. Today s high school students are more
stressed out than ever, according to the American Psychological Association (APA Survey). However, it
is what we do about this stress epidemic that will decide the future of today s students. High school
students need a break during the school day, to decrease stress, improve cognitive function, and improve
the overall mental health of students. It may not be well known, but high school students are under
copious amounts of stress. With extensive workloads, difficult classes, and extracurriculars, today s
students are encumbered. Some students handle it better than others, but stress can be very debilitating
for anyone. An NYU study says there is growing awareness that many subgroups of youth experience
high levels of chronic stress, to the extent that it impedes their abilities to succeed academically,
compromises their mental health functioning, and fosters risk behavior (NYU Study). Student s mental
health is being negatively impacted by such a big part of their life. Education is important, so what do
we do about this stress epidemic? Recess. Not the kind of recess where the kids all go outside and play
tag and do the monkey bars. However, high schoolers do need a break at some point throughout the
day. They should be given, at least 15 minutes, where they are able to partake in different activities that
are unrelated to homework or tests. Some activities could

War s Effect On American Children In America
Children were largely effected by the war and they were to grow up fast to cope with their surroundings.
Even though the war was not fought on American soil, American children were still affected as their
fathers and brothers left to go fight, and as their mothers were off to go to work in a factory. The
children were left with new responsibilities that many had never experienced before the war. Many were
to care for their siblings and take on more household chores. Children in America were very a lot
fortunate than other children across the Atlantic. In Britain, children had to grow up fast and become an
adult. As technology advancements grew more dangerous Britain worried that there mainland would be

William Berkeley In The 1676 Analysis
In the 1670s, dissent from small farmers and frontiersmen marred the leadership of William Berkeley.
Reasons, such as restrictions on the right to vote, high taxes, low tobacco prices, aristocratic leadership,
and inadequate security against Native American attacks caused the dissent. Nathanial Bacon, a relative
of William Berkeley, relocated from England in 1673 and became part of the administration in Virginia.
Over time, the two disagreed on the issue of Indians (Rice, 2012). It was at this point that emigrants of
English descent were conquering land through force.
Some leaders in the Virginia governorship administration opposed this idea by preferring negotiations.
In 1676, a civil war erupted because of disagreement among the colonists. Nathanial Bacon emerged as
a leader of the people who lived on the frontier to protect them from attacks by Native Americans. It
was evident that Nathanial Bacon was fighting the colonial government by urging poor farmers to
express dissent by fighting the Native Americans and colonial government (Rice, 2012). Consequently,
the victims of the 1676 rebellion included the Pamunkey and the Occoneechee tribes.

However, William Berkeley was focused on establishing peace with the Native Indians. The rebellion
grew whereby African Americans joined the frontiersmen demanding better treatment from the colonial
government. The colonial government soldiers became vigilant by suppressing Bacon s forces; hence,
restoring the colonial rule in the Virginian colony. The unification of poor farmers and African
Americans was seen as a potential threat to the colonial government. As a result, the colonial
government implemented measures to toughen racial labor for purposes of preventing any further
resistance (Rice,

Compare And Contrast Essay On African Americans And Inner...
I cringe every time I hear it. Also, it brings mixed emotions because historically it has not worked out to
well for my people. If anything, it exacerbated the situations that plagued the lives of many citizens who
are making an honest living and wanting to be a good citizen. Oh, if you did not know what I was
talking about here it is, Trump s problematic talk of fixing the carnage in the inner cities that affect
African Americans. True, it is a problem in the inner cities, but there are reasons for that. Let us look at
the poor education, lack of good job opportunities, and the historical marginalization of minorities for a
simple explanation. However, Trump wrongly conflates African Americans and inner cities. Elizabeth
Kneebone, a fellow at Brookings Institution Metropolitan Policy Program complied data relating with
the geography of the African Americans population. The results would shock some. According to
Kneebone, 39 percent of African Americans live in the suburbs, 36 percent live in cites, and the other 25
percent lives either in small metropolitan areas or in rural communities. ... Show more content on

However, that is where I draw the line. Trump s dystopian viewpoint of African Americans in inner
cities is wrong. He continues to report about the country s crime and wants to bring back law and order
back. Yeah, whatever that means, you mean the huge number of minorities in prisons, or the unfair
criminal laws such as the infamous 100 1 sentencing disparity for people caught with crack cocaine vs.
powder cocaine. He may be referring to that, and I defiantly say no. In addition, I am going to continue

Observation Of Student Entrepreneurs
I attended the panel of student entrepreneurs from Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute. We had the privilege
from hearing from five different students who have started their own business. We heard from a girl
who had come up with equipment so that people who were sick could check their vitals at home, instead
of having to go to the doctors. The patient would then plug the information into an app on their phones
and it would be set to their doctors and nurses. There was a girl who had created a solar heating device
that turns aluminum and other materials into hot air, which can be used to help the homeless population,
lower heating bills as well as help the environment. We heard from a student who started a tech app and
a mother student who had his own DJ business called Andries Entertainments. There was also a student
who started her own photograph business as well as a few non profit businesses. All of these students
had great advice about how to start a company, how to keep it going, how to enjoy what you are doing.
All of these students had one thing in common when it came to there business. They all found that there
was a need for their product or service and they had a and passion for it. Some of the students had
interest in there products. They had grown up loving photography and music and decided to try and turn
their passion into a business. For others the opportunity suddenly arose and they decided to give it a
shot. Some also recognized that their was a problem and

2 Host to Host Sales Order System
IS (includes its information technology components) plays major role in today s business world. IS
helps enterprises improve business processes, drives revenue growth, helps them achieve cost efficiency
and more importantly, maintaining a competitive edge in the market place
Through period of time Pertamina implements numbers of IS to address various corporate s business
activities. Instead of gaining cost efficiency, these numbers of IS actually require company to put more
budget in order to operate and maintain the systems. At this point ERP system comes as solution to this
problem.
Such as ERP s objective which is to integrate business processes across enterprise by using a single IS
(Wagner and Monk, 2008; Laudon and Laudon, 2012), Pertamina also manage to integrate all its
business IS into one main system using ERP. Since 2003 ERP systems is used as Pertamina s core
platform where other business applications developed on top of it.
Regardless of the implementation of ERP system has been covered all business activities in the
company, Pertamina s sales order activity is still being served through limited point of sales. Pertamina
s point of sales spread throughout 7 regional offices across the country (Pertamina, 2013). This make
sales activities less efficient, moreover it cannot meet customers expectations.
To address this challenge, by using new information technology availability, Pertamina develop new IS

South Afric A Country Found At The Southern Tip Of Africa...
Background Information
South Africa is a country found at the southern tip of Africa that boasts of a relatively rich history.
Dutch traders arrived at the south most tip of present day South Africa in 1652 and built a stopover
point on the path that was used to transport spice between Holland and the Far East, consequently
instituting the town of Cape Town. After the British captured the Cape of Good Hope area in 1806,
many of the Dutch residents fled to the north to institute their own republics in areas taken from the
indigenous African populace (Beck, 2014). The exposition of gemstones and silver stimulated
prosperity and immigration and increased the subjugation of the local population. The Afrikaners
opposed English encroachments but were beaten in the Second South African War (1899 1902);
nonetheless, the English and the Afrikaners, continued to rule over South Africa in 1910 under the
Union of South Africa. Following a whites only referendum, South Africa became a republic in 1961
(Thompson Berat, 2014).
In 1948, the National Party, which was widely Afrikaner dominated, was elected into power and
implemented a protocol of apartheid the individualized growth of the races which highly privileged the
white colored community at the cost of the Africans who ironically represented the majority. The
African National Congress (ANC) led the resistance to apartheid and many top ANC pioneers and
leaders, such as Nelson Mandela, were captured and spent a long time in South

  • 2. No Electronic Theft Act No Electronic Theft Act (NET) BIS/220 Introduction to Computer Application and Systems April 2, 2013 Copyright infringement has become a serious issue in today s world. Owners of this material lose money every time an image or any material is used illegally. The Internet has brought about more opportunities for someone to steal copyrighted material. An Internet user can simply copy and image, save it, and use it for their own gain while the holder of the copyright of that image gets nothing. This situation was becoming an issue so in 1997 the United States government enacted the No Electronic Theft Act to help stop this from occurring. Description of the Act The No Electronic Theft (NET) Act was enacted on December 16, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the right click did not work they could screen shot a page, drop it in Photoshop or any editing program, and snip out the picture. Pictures were not the main culprit however. Music and movies are big business and people were discovering ways to pirate these without paying for them. Peer sharing of music and movie files were costing studios, record companies, artists, and actors a large amount of money. Sharing these files is easy back in the mid 1990s and even easier today. Whether it be via PTP, e mail, instant messaging, saving to a CD/DVD, or saving to a flash drive it is easy to give someone a copy of a CD, DVD, or a single song. These advances in technology required something be done to protect copyright holders from infringement. The Act was established for this reason. Conclusion The No Electronic Theft Act was put into place to stop copyright infringement on all forms of electronic media. These infringements cost copyright holders millions of dollars per year. The Act enables prosecution for infringements even if they are not meant for financial gain. Since inception the Act has been used to prosecute both people seeking gain and those who were not. The Act was necessary because of the simplicity of sharing copyrighted materials and people s willingness to do so. The theft of copyrighted material will likely never end but laws such as NET can help ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. How Does Natasha Romanoff Present The Russian Language In... As the first female Avenger, Natasha Romanoff s physical attractiveness and her Russian heritage have been emphasized most in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the beginning of The Avengers, she is interrogated by Russian thugs in a Russian warehouse. Donned in a short, revealing black cocktail dress, Romanoff slyly gains information from the thugs, while feigning ignorance. Thus, the film suggests that she is untrustworthy because she can easily trick others. In addition, Romanoff s spoken Russian in this scene reflects the misrepresentation of the Russian language in The Avengers. For a woman born and raised in the Soviet Russia, Natasha Romanoff has a notably American accent in comparison to the thug speaking Russian. Minor, yet explicitly antagonistic and foolish Russian characters are cast with Slavic actors who can properly speak the language, yet when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, The Avengers uses the vilified Russian identity for entertainment. Furthermore, the scene emphasizes Romanoff s characterization as a Russian beauty. During the conversation, the thug comments on Romanoff s beauty: she is just a pretty face. Romanoff appears to question this statement, with a quipped retort: You really think that I m pretty? However, the visual depiction of an ensuing fight suggests that the one of the most important components of Romanoff s characterization is her attractive face and bust. As she throws punches, including one seemingly from her bright red hair, the camera angles frame to flaunt Romanoff s upper body. The final shot of the fight features her glistening face and bust in the middle of the frame. Just as the dialogue suggests, Romanoff s physical beauty is emphasized. Therefore, being a distinctly Russian woman in The Avengers entails the highlighting of an appealing visual aesthetic, the misrepresentation of language, and an ability to trick ... • 4. Government Intervention John Micklethwait Market failures exist when the private enterprise cannot efficiently produce goods and services arising from externalities, limitation of market, transaction costs and asymmetrical information. Just as the private sector in the free economy has produced market failures, government intervention is necessary to address these failures because there is no invisible hand that could instinctively fix the situation. Mindful of Milton Friedman s disapproval for costly government intervention and John Micklethwait s qualified favor for such public action, my principles of government or nonprofit intervention are built upon the essence that the government must protect the democratic values of liberty, equality, equity and public welfare of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inherently, self interest motivates market producers to pursue their economic goal of profit maximization even at the expense of their competitors, an illustration of prisoner s dilemma. Businesses have used production inputs that permanently damaged common natural resources such as petroleum reserves, earth s atmosphere and biodiversity. Other effects include global warming and depleted resources for future generations. Privatization of the common pool goods does not guarantee that the market can avert the phenomenon. The government will have to inevitably assign specific property rights over renewable natural resources. Alternatively, the state can also adopt policies that encourage private enterprise or individuals to develop or use green energies as alternative to the traditional energy sources in the case of the Environmental Protection Agency. Lastly, the government can complement with nonprofits in implementing programs that address market failures. Nonprofits are not bounded by profit distribution thereby facilitating them to adopt missions to sustain social value and continuously pursue opportunities to innovate, learn and adapt. As an example, World Wildlife Fund has a mission of environmental conservation and implements activities to protect the global natural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Upon reading, readers are immediately transported to the prairie, where things will soon become far more eventful. Using imagery, Capote make the slow town of Holcomb more than a name. • 7. Randolph Hearst Case Study Part B: i) Describe the rise to prominence of William Randolph Hearst William Randolph Hearst was an influential figure in the late 19th and early 20th century through his domination of the American media for almost half a century. Through his use of sensationalistic and yellow journalism, Hearst successfully built his news corporation, Hearst Communications, which at its height of prevalence owned over 30 American newspapers, 18 magazines and several radio stations. William Randolph Hearst s privileged upper class upbringing was a significant influence and factor in his rise to prominence in the American media during the late 19th and early 20th century. Before being expelled, Hearst was inspired by Joseph Pulitzer s New York World newspaper and worked as an editor for the Harvard Lampoon at Harvard university. At age 24, his multimillionaire father bestowed his failing San Francisco Examiner newspaper to him in hope that it would reform his delinquent behaviours. The social problems of the Gilded Age (1870s 1900) created a social dynamic in the American public which Hearst was able to successfully build his newspaper the San Francisco Examiner into the most widely read newspaper in San Francisco. He adopted a sensational brand of reporting, which later was referred to as yellow journalism which used hyperbolic and misinformed speculations and half truths which headlined the front page of the paper. Epstein Barr Research Paper Epstein Barr Virus, also known as human herpesvirus type 4, is a common infectious virus that will affect greater than 85% of the population at least once in their lifetime. The virus was first discovered by, and named after, Sir Michael Anthony Epstein and Yvonne Mr. Barr in 1964 in the midst of researching a case of Burkitt s lymphoma. The Epstein Barr virus is predominately found in a host s saliva, and is transmitted through direct and indirect contact with the infected person s bodily fluids. The Case Of Belize V Belize Telecom CONTRACT LAW ASSESSED ESSAY QUESTION 2015 2016 Implied Terms Student ID 1620923 Word Count 1,999 Introduction In Privy Council decision Attorney General of Belize v Belize Telecom (Belize thereafter), Lord Hoffmann in delivering the leading judgment, assimilated the implication of term and contractual interpretation resulting in the well known traditional tests: business efficacy and officious bystander merely as auxiliary role in discovering the the objective intention of the contract. The second part will base on the observation in first argument and argue that implication of term is part of the process of interpretation. Along the argument, author will strive to argue that the criticisms towards Lord Hoffmann s are unconvincing. Argument One How Should We Understand the Necessity The author argues that the operation of Belize test should be understood as: A term has to be fit in either of the traditional test, but before the implication, it has to be checked by Belize that is in congruence with the reasonable interpretation of the contract as a whole. However, there are some fears that the role of necessity has been trumped by reasonableness in Belize that will consequently lead to the court making the contract for the parties. The preliminary issue is how should we understand necessity . Some say it is necessary to make the contract work. Some others propose that it is meant to give effect to the intention of the parties. To uphold the principle of freedom of contract, the court must give effect to what the contractual parties intended therefore the court does not inquire into the subjective intention of the either party. In Liverpool City Council and Philips both stress the importance of necessity. Yet we should be careful in both cases they did not nevertheless totally eliminated the role of reasonableness. • 11. The Basketball Association And The Nba The National Basketball Association, or the NBA, is a men s professional basketball league in the USA. The National Basketball Association was born in 1949 after the Basketball Association of America and the National Basketball League merged as one. Maurice Podoloff was elected head of the new league that consisted of seventeen teams which came from cities and towns all across the country. The NBA did not have a great start with its teams dwindling to only eight teams in the 1950s. At this point, the league transformed the game with the addition of the shot clock. The shot clock in the NBA is 24 seconds, meaning the offensive team has 24 seconds from the time they inbound the ball until the ball hits the rim on their side of the court. This addition increased the pace of the game and made it more fun for fans to watch. Their transformation worked, and the league returned to a financially stable one in the 1960/70s. Today, the NBA has millions of fans from all walks of life, all over the world. The league now consists of 30 teams from various states in North America as well as one team from Canada. The teams are divided into two conferences and then three divisions of five teams each. To play the sport of basketball there are players; five on the court at a time, coaches, a basketball, two hoops, high top shoes to protect player s ankles, and a court with specific lines painted out to represent boundaries. However, the unique aspect of the industry is that it is so expansive in all of the different categories and types of movies, but yet each film is individualized. A certain characteristic of a movie may appeal to one person and not another. Such characteristics may not only appeal to an individual but to a certain group of people. Could it be that characteristics of a film appeal to either the male gender or the female gender? Is there a difference in the category of movie that a male chooses as opposed to one that a female chooses? Such questions prove to be very interesting and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the observation, I observed ten males and ten females in the video section of Giant Eagle at 7:00pm on a Friday night. All of the twenty subjects were of college age and appeared to be at the store alone. I specially looked for the type of movie each person would select. By doing this observation, I anticipated to see what people really choose. Since the subjects were unaware that I was watching them, they had no pressure to select a certain type of movie and could chose freely. In other ways of collecting data such as a survey or interview, people may be reluctant to be honest about some details. Through observation, there were no doubts if the subject was being dishonest because they freely chose the movie without even realizing I was watching them. A second route that I chose to collect data was to administer a survey to ten college age people. Of these ten people, five of them were females and five of them were males. The survey was given to these people while they were in their college dorm rooms. There were six questions on the survey, including a gender question, how many movies does the subject watch in an average month, and what are these movies classified as, adventure or romance/romantic comedy. The final two questions dealt with who the subject mostly watches movies with and if they normally get to choose the movie when watching one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As factories, mines, and mills sprouted out across the map, cities grew up around them. The late nineteenth century, declared an economist in 1889, was not only the age of cities, but the age of great cities. Between 1860 and 1910, the urban population grew from 6 million to 44 million. The numbers declined to 6 million in the 1910s and 4 million in the 1920s, after which official restrictions cut the flow of immigration down to a negligible level. The roads paved with gold theory led to the downfall of the vast majority of immigrants. Ionic bonds are formed when elements give up their outermost electrons to another element or atom, resulting in an ion , according to the Biological Molecules and pH lab. An example of this, is when one atom becomes a negatively charged anion from taking a negative electron from another atom, that other atom becomes a positively charged cation. These two atoms attract each other because they have now become oppositely charged. B. Covalent bonds are formed when two atoms share electrons. The amount of bond (single, double, and triple bonds) depends on the amount of electrons being shared. The number of bonds is based on the amount of electrons needed in order to fill the outer shell. Therapeutic cloning is when you take a small sample of DNA and insert into an embryo to make the embryo to have healthy parts. The parts are accepted by our body because they are from your DNA. Therapeutic cloning does not happen naturally in nature and it is asexual. Reproductive cloning is another type of cloning and unlike therapeutic cloning is sometimes occurs in nature. Regarding the status and importance of grammar teaching, a variety of opinions have been made. Batstone (1994) states that language without grammar would be chaotic: countless words without the indispensable guidelines for how they can be ordered and modified (p. 4). More vividly, Wang (2010) makes two similes. She compares grammar to the frame of a house, which is a decisive factor to ensure the solidness of it. Evaluation of Miss Wong s Teaching Approach B(1). Teaching philosophy It is teachers beliefs rather than their knowledge that have a greater influence on their instruction (William Burden, 2000). Meighan suggests seven kinks of teachers beliefs about learners: resisters, receptacles, raw materials, clients, partners, individual explorers and democratic explorers. Unlike the first three concepts which focus on teachers, the last four require learners active involvement (as cited in William Burden, 2000). In Miss Wong s teaching approach, a PPP model (i.e., Presentation, Practice and Production) is generally adopted. She firstly presents target grammatical structure of passive voice. Then students do some exercises along with teacher s answer checking. However, it seems the final production step is omitted, resulting in students lacking opportunities to apply the knowledge into other contexts. From her instruction, we can see Miss Wong tends to regard her students as receptacles that are required to absorb the items she transmits. What the instruction concerns is whether students can transform sentences from active to passive or vice verse from a structural level, which is a typical example of a ... However, it would be several thousands of years before its most important and revolutionary changes would be brought about. The idea of a submersible ship has been around since the Revolution, although its success was minimal at best. The first modern submarine would be developed in the late 19th century and would be first used successfully in warfare by the Germans in World War 1. It arguably led to the American s victory over Japan in World War II. Since their development submarines have paved the way for the evolution of strategy, revolutionary new tactics, as well as playing a vital role in the nuclear triad, redefining war. No longer would the Mahanian strategy of a decisive battle be the norm, nor considered the best way to fight naval battles. With the advent of the submarine, navies could now look into denying their enemies the sea rather than struggling to control it (Hughes, n.d.). A contributing aspect of this sea denial is the ability to greatly extend coastal defense. Coastal defense can not be looked at in a traditional sense. These ships are not looking to simply defend the coast, but rather are cruising thousands of miles of shore to sink as much of the enemy fleet as possible, thereby crippling their ability to attack (Lautenschlager, 1987). • 37. The Supreme Court Of India 1. INTRODUCTION Most social movements in India since the 1970s have actively used the Courts especially the Supreme Court as a part of their struggles. This has been possible because of the higher Courts activism, especially under the guidance and action of Public Interest Litigation. Through the instrument of Public Interest Litigation, the Court liberated itself from traditional constraints in the legal system so as to reach out to the weaker sections of Indian humanity. The Supreme Court of India has adopted a forward looking approach since last few years, particularly having regard to the socio economic conditions prevailing in the country. In fact there are two kinds of approaches which characterise the functioning of the highest Court in every democracy. Either the Court adopts an activist approach or resigns itself to passive role. In a country like India, judges adopt an activist approach to bring about social and economic change and to improve the life conditions of the people and make basic human rights available to them. The Supreme Court has revolved a new doctrine of judicial activism with a view of making basic human rights meaningful and effective for the deprived and exploited sections of humanity. Judiciary is the third wing of the Government empowered to administer justice to the people of India. The Courts are protectors of an individual s Fundamental and Legal Rights when they are violated. Today s high school students are more stressed out than ever, according to the American Psychological Association (APA Survey). It may not be well known, but high school students are under copious amounts of stress. With extensive workloads, difficult classes, and extracurriculars, today s students are encumbered. • 46. William Berkeley In The 1676 Analysis In the 1670s, dissent from small farmers and frontiersmen marred the leadership of William Berkeley. Reasons, such as restrictions on the right to vote, high taxes, low tobacco prices, aristocratic leadership, and inadequate security against Native American attacks caused the dissent. Nathanial Bacon, a relative of William Berkeley, relocated from England in 1673 and became part of the administration in Virginia. Over time, the two disagreed on the issue of Indians (Rice, 2012). It was at this point that emigrants of English descent were conquering land through force. Some leaders in the Virginia governorship administration opposed this idea by preferring negotiations. In 1676, a civil war erupted because of disagreement among the colonists. Nathanial Bacon emerged as a leader of the people who lived on the frontier to protect them from attacks by Native Americans. Dutch traders arrived at the south most tip of present day South Africa in 1652 and built a stopover point on the path that was used to transport spice between Holland and the Far East, consequently instituting the town of Cape Town. After the British captured the Cape of Good Hope area in 1806, many of the Dutch residents fled to the north to institute their own republics in areas taken from the indigenous African populace (Beck, 2014). The exposition of gemstones and silver stimulated prosperity and immigration and increased the subjugation of the local population. The Afrikaners opposed English encroachments but were beaten in the Second South African War (1899 1902); nonetheless, the English and the Afrikaners, continued to rule over South Africa in 1910 under the Union of South Africa.
