Vacation In Myrtle Beach Essay examples
Last summer my friends and I packed up and took a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The
excitement of the strip and the relaxation of the beach allured me to this particular vacation spot. If
you are looking for an entertaining and relaxing way to spend the hot days of summer, Myrtle Beach
has plenty to offer.
Myrtle Beach stretches up the coast of South Carolina and North Carolina. The drive takes
approximately six hours from East Tennessee State University. Our trip during the summer made for a
great vacation, the temperature stayed between the 80 s and 90 s, perfect sun tanning weather. The
friendly smiles and southern hospitality mixed well with the warm climate.
Teenagers and young adults occupy Myrtle Beach more than any ... Show more content on

Myrtle Beach has many hotels and resorts to chose from. Most of them sit either right on the beach or
across the street. The rates usually run weekly from Sunday to Saturday. A week s stay always gives
me enough time to do and see all I want. The inexpensive hotels, as stated earlier, can be found on the
strip. These hotels normally run about $180 a week for a room with two double beds. The resort areas,
however, cost around $400 a week depending on where you stay. I recommend the place that I stayed
when I was a child, the Breakers Resort. The Resort includes an oceanfront view, two pools, a hot tub,
poolside bar and restaurant. Wherever you decide to stay you are sure to enjoy the atmosphere and
excitement of Myrtle Beach.
Restaurants in Myrtle Beach appear almost as plentiful as the hotels. Where you eat may depend on
how much money you want to spend. My friends and I, as typical college students, did not have much
money to spend. So we ate at the local fast food restaurants, such as, Burger King, Taco Bell and
McDonalds, for the majority of the trip. We found, however, that the River City Café had good food
for a great price. If you would like to eat a more cordial dinner, the Calabash Seafood restaurant has
sensational seafood entrée s.
With all the hotels nestled along the coast, the most obvious attraction is the beach itself. The beautiful
water and clean beach makes for a

How Did The Middle Class Affect Latin America
The rise of the middle class had a potent impact on Latin America. The middle class consisted of a
high percentage of the intellectuals, authors, teachers, and journalists and also they had the most
influential voice in the late 19th century (Charlip Burns, 177). One of the most important points about
the middle class was that they were not only the true nationalists in Latin America but also they
regarded the United States as their model, thus they tried to learn something beneficial from the
United Sates for their nation s prosperity and citizens. For example, the middle class was impressed by
the high North American literacy rate and also considered the high literacy rate seemed to provide the
proper preparation for an industrial society

Women Entrepreneurs And Social Incubators Essay
In this chapter literature on women entrepreneurs and social incubators is discussed. It also explains
the conceptual framework and conceptual map of the study..
2.1 Concept of Women Entrepreneur
Women or a group of women who initiate, organize and operates a business enterprise is defined as
Women Entrepreneurs . The Government of India has defined women entrepreneurs as an enterprise
owned and controlled by women having a minimum financial interest of 51 per cent of the capital and
giving at least 51 per cent of the employment generated in the enterprise to women. Women
Entrepreneur is a person who accepts challenging role to meet her personal needs and become
economically independent (Meenu Goyal and Jai Prakash, 2011, pp. ). In India, these entrepreneurs
are part of the larger sustainable development strategy employed by the policymakers. Evidence
shows that Women entrepreneurship has already contributed to the economic growth across the world
and women led enterprises are increasing in every country.. These enterprises also created a large
number of job opportunities in their respective economies. Apart from this, these enterprises also
created new business solutions for the pressing social problems.Further in whole enterprises scenario,
number of enterprises owned by women is very less compared to men. Government of India has
implemented various schemes for development of such enterprises but impact is yet to be seen. Over
the past few decades role of

Compare And Contrast Ben Franklin And The Lightning Rod
the lightning rod was not made by Benjamin Franklin. As this paper has mentioned earlier, Benjamin
Franklin has contrived some electrical phraseologies that are still widely used today even though his
theories are now outdated or proved to be wrong. For instance, even ordinary people who have no
previous experiences with physics use the terms, including positive charge , negative charge , plus ,
minus and battery even though they might not know the meanings of the words accurately. In the era
of Benjamin Franklin, people likely to believe that the charges have similar properties as the fluid.
Their theories are now called as the fluid theory. At the same time, at the era of Benjamin Franklin,
majority of people believed that two charges, positive charge and negative charge , were different
entities. This theory was called as the two fluid theory. On the other hand, Benjamin Franklin at that
time had a different idea. He believed that two opposite charges are not separate entities. He observed
that rubbing into different materials made them charges either negatively or positively. At that time,
Benjamin Franklin made a theory that excessive electric fluid makes an electric positively and less
electric fluid makes electricity to charge negatively. On the other hand, both fluid theories, including
the two fluid theory and the one fluid theory from Benjamin Franklin are now considered as outdated
theory. We know now that what makes charges either positively or

Hepatitis A Case Studies
Hepatitis A is an infectious disease caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV). Hepatitis A affects the liver
and may cause inflammation of the liver and affect the liver s functioning. This disease can be spread
by eating or drinking contaminated food or water. This disease can also be spread by close contact
with infected individuals. If one does not wash their hands properly before preparing food or drink,
they run the risk of contaminating the food with the hepatitis A virus (National Institute of Diabetes
and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, 2017).
One risk factor for hepatitis A is never having been vaccinated for hepatitis A. Some of the risk factors
include: poor hygiene and sanitation and lack of access to safe water. This is due to the ... Show more

Department of Health and Human Services (2006), receiving the hepatitis A vaccine is the best way to
prevent hepatitis A. There are two vaccines that help protect individuals against hepatitis A: the
hepatitis A vaccine and the hepatitis A and B combination vaccine. The hepatitis A vaccine protects all
age groups against hepatitis A, while the combination vaccine only protects adults. The hepatitis
vaccine is given in two doses. It is recommended that children get vaccinated at 12 to 23 months and
again at 2 to 4 years. Adults who were not vaccinated as children can get vaccinated at any time so
long as they get each dose 6 to 18 months apart. Some people should not get the hepatitis vaccine,
such as those who are allergic to the vaccine ingredients and immune compromised individuals. If you
are sick, you should wait until you feel better to get the vaccine. The vaccine can also be given as post
exposure prophylaxis (after one contracts hepatitis A), to help fight the disease. Additionally, other
preventive measures for hepatitis A are improved sanitation, such as proper hand washing, and food
safety measures The hepatitis A virus can live on surfaces for months and can be killed with household
cleaning products that contain bleach. Additionally, heating food to above 185 degrees Fahrenheit with

Essay on The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy
quot;The Mayor of Casterbridge quot;
In The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy, a person s future lies in the hands of his or her past
actions. The intelligent or ignorant decision that they make places an immediate or long term effect on
the rest of person s life. Michael Henchard, whose interactions with the people of Casterbridge lead to
his demise, is only one of the people who decide their own destiny through their actions. The
decisions that the residents of Casterbridge make affect the rest of their lives. The good and evil
characteristics which society possesses determine their fate.

The Things They Carried ( 10 )
The Things They Carried (10).
The things they carried were largely determined by necessity. Among the necessities or near
necessities were P 38 can openers, pocket knives, heat tabs, wristwatches, dog tags, mosquito
repellent, chewing gum, candy, cigarettes, salt tablets, packets of Kool Aid, lighters, matches, sewing
kits, Military Payment Certificates, C rations, and two or three canteens of water (11).
As PFCs or Spec 4s, most of them were common grunts and carried the standard M 16 gas operated
assault rifle. The weapon weighed 7.5 pounds unloaded, 8.2 pounds with its full 20 round magazine.
Depending on numerous factors, such as topography and psychology, the riflemen carried anywhere
from 12 to 20 magazines, usually in cloth bandoliers, adding on another 8.4 pounds at minimum, 14
pounds at maximum (13).
He was dead weight. There was no twitching or flopping. Kiowa, who saw it happen, said it was like

the dead guy rolls around and does fancy spins and goes ass over teakettle not like that, Kiowa said,
the poor bastard just flat fuck fell. Boom. Down. Nothing else (13, 14).
The things they carried were determined to some extent by superstition. Lieutenant Cross carried his
good luck pebble. Dave Jensen carried a rabbit s foot. Norman Bowker, otherwise a very gentle
person, carried a thumb that had been presented to him as a gift by Mitchell Sanders

Racial Disparities Within Nursing Home ( Nh ) Care Quality...
I. Introduction
There exist significant racial disparities in nursing home (NH) care quality. Although some
improvements have been made in recent years, Blacks are still more likely to receive suboptimal care
in this setting, compared to Whites (1). Blacks are also more likely to be admitted to poorer quality
NH s than Whites (2). There also tend to be racial disparities in psychosocial well being among NH
residents, as determined by lower social engagement among Blacks versus Whites (3). These findings
are particularly alarming provided that the proportion of Blacks aged 65 and older who live in NH s
has increased dramatically, while the number of Whites in NH s has declined (4).
Multiple factors contribute to the disparities between Blacks and Whites in NH care quality. One such
factor is the lack of regulatory practices to curb racial discrimination in this setting. This paper will
propose a policy that aims to enforce and penalize Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
funded NH s that are in violation of current anti discriminatory laws. The proposed policy would be
passed and implemented at the federal government level, however it would also require cooperation
from public, state agencies.
II. Analysis of the Problem
When Title VI of the Civil Rights Act prohibited segregation in 1964, NH s were not prioritized for
enforcement of desegregation (1). NH s were not inspected for civil rights violations, nor were they
required to provide information on the

plays they make, and what can benefit their team the most. Not only that, but when there is something
that they don t like, they trust their instinct and just fight. Unlike other sports where injuries are faked,
hockey players don t complain and rarely get an injury during a fight. They might sustain a black eye

The goalies are backbone of the team, they are what keeps the team and game together. They have cat

recently advanced the Stanley Cup Finals in their inaugural season!), have Marc Andre Fleury, one of
the best goalies in the NHL. Without Fleury, the Golden Knights would have never made it to the
Finals even if they have some of the league s best players. I think that part of the reason that Fleury is
league s best goalie is because he was on the Pittsburgh Penguins for almost 14 years (my favorite

Use of Attics in Literature Essay
The Phenomenology of Space Attic Memories and Secrets
Since Gilbert and Gubar s The Madwoman in the Attic, critics have assumed that attics house
madwomen. But they use that concept as a metaphor for their thesis, that women writers were isolated
and treated with approbation. In most literature, attics are dark, dusty, seldom visited storage areas,
like that of the Tulliver house in The Mill on the Floss a great attic under the old high pitched roof,
with worm eaten floors, worm eaten shelves, and dark rafters festooned with cobwebs a place thought
to be weird and ghostly. Attics do not house humans (not even mad ones) they warehouse artifacts that

Attics make us think of history, interesting artifacts, old toys, books, clothes, linens, jewelry, and other
treasures but, most of all, of deep, dark, and significant family secrets. It was in the attic of the house
that I grew up in that, as a snooping teenager, I found the packet of letters from my mother to her first
husband. Her FIRST husband. I had never dreamed that she had had but one husband my father. And
had I not ferreted out those letters, I probably still would not know. Then, that night, my father took
me aside I m sure at my mother s urging and confessed that he too had been married and divorced
before he met my mother. Whether particular attics hide such secrets hardly matters. What matters is
that psychologically we believe that they do. In fact, attics frequently house just the sort of
information I unearthed facts that one is too attached to to throw away, but which one very much
wants to remain secret.
Before a discussion of attics can begin, it is essential to define what is meant by attic and to
distinguish attics from upper rooms. Not all third floor spaces are attics, because many larger houses
have and had third floor rooms that were normal living spaces, sometimeshaving bedrooms and
sometimes having a huge, finished room used for balls and other parties. Such rooms were furnished,
and comfortably habitable. Such is the case with a room that is often cited as an attic that incarcerates
a madwoman, the upper room in The

The Causes Of Obesity And Obesity
Aaron Heiden Robert S. Pilsner WR 121 17 March 2013 The Causes of Obesity Many people
speculate that obesity is genetic, but is it? Is childhood obesity caused by a lack of exercise, an
unhealthy diet, or both? Obese people, or more commonly referred to as fat people or overweight
people, are defined as adults who s BMI (body mass index) is over 30 percent. There have always
been overweight people in human society, but the rate of growth for this percentage of our population
has been steadily rising in the last few decades. When it comes to the topic of obesity, most of us will
readily agree that it is a problem. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of
why it is happening. Whereas some are convinced that this trait is genetic, others maintain that people
become obese simply due to diet and lack of exercise. In discussions of overweight children, one
controversial issue has been who is at risk. On the one hand, A. Cattaneo argues that ...excess
adiposity is a key risk factor for many chronic diseases. On the other hand, Reilly, J. J. contends that
there is a ...need for practical, objective, methods that both identify the fattest children and adolescents
adequately, and identify those who are at greatest risk of the co morbidities of obesity. Others even
maintain these traits are genetic and obese people are not more at risk than others. My own view is
obesity is not inherited genetically, and that maintaining a proper diet and exercising can

The Nacirema Culture
Anthropologists are familiar of many cultures that spread across the world. They are usually not
surprised when it comes to bizarre cultures such as the Nacirema. The Nacirema is a North American
group, although it suggests that they came from the East little is known about their origins.
What makes the Nacirema so interesting are their beliefs and rituals, within their culture it is believed
their body is ugly, and has a tendency to be weak and attract diseases. This belief has led them to have
a shrine within each household dedicated to reverse these beliefs they have about their body; inside a
shrine is a charm box, potions, and holy water. Each charm serves a purpose to an illness they are
trying to cure, and is not disposed of until it fulfills it s duty. The charm box is usually filled; if not
overflowing, and they will usually forget what the charm was there to begin with. Ingredients for the
potions are decided by the medicine men, who receive gifts from their clients as payment. Holy water

Abstract
The relative stability and possibility of electronic, magnetic, structural properties and NBO analysis of
doped fullerenes were examined based on density functional theory calculations. The bond angle and
exciton binding energy of doped fullerene interacting with L Alanine generated a more stable structure
compared to fullerene C20. The doped fullerene interacting with amino acid is discussed in terms of
bond length, bond angle, dipole moment, Energy gap, global reactivity descriptors, NBO and NMR
analysis. The dissociation energy (∆E) value of C19Si L Alanine is more stable compared to fullerene
C20 structure. These results show that Si doped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The molecular surface of doped fullerene can interact with amino acids or biomolecule to give strong
surface properties. The interacting metals lower the energy gap values which promote the interaction
of the compounds. The metal ion increases and chemical interactions are also increasing. Vibrational
frequencies have determined the minimum energy structure and not a transition state. Optimized
structure resulting from the position of the metal with respect to the doped fullerene cage ensures the
global minimum reactivity descriptors, Mulliken and NBO atomic charges. It suggests that the

The Use Of Chant Therapy Help Increase And Avoid The...
This study was done on the use of chant therapy to help decrease and avoid the symptoms of vocal
fatigue in public school teachers. Vocal fatigue includes two main symptoms; there is a continuous
increase in phonatory use and effort and then a loss in phonation. This condition is often recognized in
other professional voice users such as singers and actors. However, vocal fatigue in teachers has not
been as well known and has only recently been addressed to the public. Reports from public school
teachers indicated symptoms of vocal fatigue shortly after they started teaching. Coaches, drama, and
music teachers are educators that are more susceptible to vocal fatigue. However, any teacher that has

All four teachers reported vocal fatigue after a few years of teaching. Teachers were excluded from
this study if they were already in voice training and if they had any organic or acute vocal pathologies
seen on an ear, nose and throat (ENT) evaluation or endoscopic exam. The goal for this study was to
use chant therapy to decrease the individuals fatigue by making it a habit for them to use differential
muscle activity. To meet this goal the authors focused on finding a normal speaking pitch, increased
prosodic accent and a better standard deviation for their fundamental frequencies. A Voice Range
Profile (FRP) was used to find a more efficient speaking pitch. The pitch targeted was characterized
by being in the individual s lower range where the largest loudness gain was found in the semitone
below it. The individuals were taught this pitch and it was used as the mediation note for chant
therapy. The researchers also implemented a placebo therapy. It included the same amount of non
effortful speech as the chant therapy and there were no environmental or behavioral changes
implemented. Each individual was paired with another and was told to speak to each other in a normal
voice for one hour, which was the same amount of time as the chant therapy. They were then given an
end of the session questionnaire and 3 of the 4 subjects stated that they thought the placebo therapy
was beneficial. The chant and placebo therapy included six

Garibaldi Unification Essay
The background on Risorgimento and Giuseppi Garibaldi s role in the unification of Italy sparked my
curiosity about the impact unification had on national and regional identities in Italy, and the effect
these identities have on the way the world perceives the people of Italy as opposed to the way they see
each other. It seems to me that Garibaldi and the unification process must have had a profound effect
on the people of Italy and the way they see themselves fitting into the nation state as a whole. I would
imagine that many of these questions do not have clear answers, but rather complicated explanations
that lead to even more questioning. With Garibaldi s movement spreading across the regions of Italy, I
can imagine that not all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another interesting way of looking at Italian identities from an international perspective is examining
the way other nations see Italy as having either distinct regional differences or a larger collective
identity. If there are so many different regional identities, where did the Italian identity known in the
United States come from? If each region has their own culture, how can we claim to know Italian
food, music, art, or any other cultural element? I would imagine that much of the food in an area of
Italy is dependent on what is produced in that region of the nation, and therefore could not be
encompassed by the umbrella of Italian food. I know that many Italian foods are named after the
region where they are produced, such as parmigiano and Marsala wine, thus preserving some of the
regional identity in the name. So where did this larger culture come from, is what we know as Italian
food really the food from a specific region or something else entirely?
It would be interesting to study how this national identity emerged over time, and does its presence

The Green Table By Kurt Jooss Essay
The Green Table, choreographed by Kurt Jooss and composed by Fritz A. Cohen, first premiered in
Paris, France and won first place in the Paris choreographic competition held by the International
Archives of the Dance in early July of 1932 (Martin 155). Kurt Jooss (1901 1979) was a German
choreographer and dancer, as well as a visionary for his time. Fritz A. Cohen (1904 1967) was a
German composer, who worked closely with Jooss to create this piece, which has been interpreted by
John Martin as a statement against war. The ballet Der GrĂŒne Tisch, subtitled, A Tatentanz, achieved
praise, not only in Paris and Germany, but also Amsterdam, Brussels, London, and America (Martin
155). As Martin sums up, In eight loosely connected scenes...it pictures the bitter futility of war (155).
In other words, Jooss explores the ineffectiveness of violence through a series of scenes depicting
battle and woe. The New York stock market crash in 1929 sparked a worldwide economic crisis (
Hitler Comes to Power ). By June of 1932, six million people were unemployed in Germany and the
economic distress led to a rise in the support of the Nazi party; consequently, the Nazi party won the
votes of almost 40 percent of the electorate in the German parliament elections of July 1932 ( Hitler
Comes to Power ). However, by November of 1932, the Nazi party lost two million votes from the
previous July ( Hitler Comes to Power ). Adolf Hitler formed an alliance with the conservatives and

she shows that she truly understood the circumstances, and the powerful emotional effect dope had on
a person. Her use of non typical old school word choice, and metaphors really tie together her poem
into a strong statement that stands out on its own. Sonia s slang, arrangement and metaphors only
further demonstrate the simple yet elegant grand scheme behind the emotional ride of understanding
the use of dope. The poem by Sonia Sanchez Summer Wordz of a Sistuh Addict begins with her
talking to herself, and how she speaks on her first experience shooting dope on a Sunday after she

The Bohemian Scandal
In Conan Doyle s short story A Scandal in Bohemia (1888), Sherlock Holmes can tell that the stranger
possess great wealth before he speaks a single word. Sherlock Holmes analyzes everything when it
comes to people. He uses their appearance, how they carry themselves, and what kind of objects they
have on them. The author uses descriptive words to describe the way the stranger looked. This essay
will prove that Sherlock Holmes is so observant of everyone, that he can tell who you are before
speaking to you. In the short story A Scandal in Bohemia Mr. Sherlock Holmes receives a letter of the

A man with luxury would have an area where he can get exercise regularly and would be well
nourished. Watson describes his clothing as rich but bad in taste. In many countries being gaudy is a
sign of having wealth. It is a way of expressing that they have more money than everyone else. The
stranger has bands of astrakhan on his sleeves. Astrakhan is fur from a young lambs coat. People with
money tend to wear fur that no one else can afford. He was wearing a cloak with flame coloured silk.
Silk is a precious material that only the rich could trade for. His brooch had a single flaming beryl. A
beryl is a gem, and gems were used as jewelry. The beryl was most likely a rare gem because Watson
described it as a flaming beryl. It was intensely passionate to the eye. The boots were trimmed with
rich brown fur. Notice that he did not describe the fur as just fur. He stated that it was a rich brown fur.
As stated before, most likely an animal s fur that is rare. The man had his face covered with a black

recognized would wear a mask. The man made sure that Holmes could not see his face because his
hand was still raised to ensure it was covered. This was to ensure his identity was concealed. Watson
described his face of having strong features and to have a length of obstinancy. The man knows what

Breastfeeding Is The Optimal Form Of Feeding And Should Be...
According to the World Health Organization, If every child was breastfed within an hour of birth,
given only breast milk for their first six months of life, and continued breastfeeding up to the age of
two years, about 800,000 child lives would be saved every year. Breastfeeding has been shown to
provide the mother and especially the newborn with many vital health benefits after birth, though even
today mothers do not always use it consistently as the sole form of feeding for the first six months
after birth. In order to understand attitudes surrounding breastfeeding, societal examinations should be
done. Breastfeeding is the optimal form of feeding and should be done if at all possible for the first
year of the newborns ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oxytocin has positive effects on the mother s gastrointestinal system, along with decreasing the risks
of hypertension (Moberg, 2013, p. 202 203).
The release of oxytocin that occurs during breastfeeding does not only have a favorable effect on the
mother physiologically, but also psychologically. According to Moberg (2013), oxytocin functions
rather like a system activator and often influences the release of other signaling substances such as
opioids, serotonin, dopamine and noradrenaline (p. 201). These neurotransmitters can have a positive
effect on a new mother s disposition. They have been shown to decrease the amount of stress that a
new mother goes through after giving birth, increases pleasant mood, and also contributes to the
bonding experience that mothers and newborns can have while breastfeeding. Some other
psychological benefits include less feelings of anxiety and higher levels of interaction with others.
Moberg (2013) describes the kind of benefits that a mother can obtain from the anti stress affects
found through the releasing of oxytocin through breastfeeding. Statistics show that women who have
breast fed are less likely to develop stress related disease such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular
disease (p. 204). In addition to all of these benefits breast feeding mother also have lower chance of
developing post partum depression after giving birth.

The Health Care Reform Act
The Health Care Reform Act was designed to benefit the citizens of the United States. Thanks to the
Affordable Care Act, 3.1 million more young adults have health insurance on their parent s plan, three
million seniors have received a 50 percent discount on their prescription drugs, and millions of
Americans now have access to no cost preventive services to help them stay healthy. Abusive
insurance practices are becoming a thing of the past. Additionally, the Affordable Care Act helps small
businesses with the cost of providing health insurance for their employees and helps doctors and other
health providers care for their patients more effectively.

signed these two bills, they became Public Law. The purpose of the ACA is to make health care more
accessible to all residents of the United States by three means: mandating all U.S. residents to select a
health insurance plan, forbidding insurers from denying coverage based on a pre existing condition,
and expanding program. The ACA states that the federal government will pay 100% of the cost of a
newly enrolled Medicaid participants until 2016 for all states that expand their Medicaid program up
to 138% of the federal poverty level and will pay90% by 2020 (Kincaid, 2013). Other concerns
include whether the federal government will give state enough flexibility to manage Medicaid
program, whether hospitals will receive adequate compensation to care for more patients and whether
the physician workforce can accommodate the increased demand for care (Kincaid, 2013). The ACA is
affected by two things, one is payments of hospitals and providers. The ACA does not provide fee for
service towards a bundled payment. This type of payment, a set amout is paid for all services rendered
and treatment related sickness. The ACA emphasizes pay per performance, meaning that the providers
will not receive payment based on the patient outcome. For example, if the patient has shown no
improvement there will be penalties. Also, there will be penalties if the patient has to be hospitalized

Wicca and Wiccan Practitioners Essay
Wicca one of the most recognizable pagan religions today in the USA and Great Britain is also
unfortunately, like many pagan religions, still greatly misunderstood by the general population: mainly
due to the media s often inaccurate or highly skewed presentation of Wicca and Wiccan practitioners.
This inaccurate depiction of Wicca and Wiccans often leads to people lumping Wiccans together with
occultists and Satanists and all the negative connotations that surround those words. Luckily, Wiccans
are neither occultist nor Satanists. Instead Wiccans are part witch part pagans whose unique beliefs,
traditions, and practices set them apart from other witches and pagans.

However, this does not mean we are all witches; in order to be a witch one must self identify as a
witch. Other types of magic can include healing, protection, divination, etc. Also it is important to note
that while all Wiccans are witches, not all witches are Wiccans as witches can be of any faith.
Another key aspect of being a Wiccan is being a pagan or neopagan. As defined by Prudence Jones
from the Pagan Federation International, pagan is a term used to describe a follower of a polytheistic
or pantheistic nature worshipping religion, while neopagan is a term used to describe those whose
religions, as Eric A. Powell states in his article Solstice at the Stones, consist of modern beliefs
inspired by ancient religious practices (36). According to Jones, the term neopagan is also used to
describe all those [religions] who are recognisably [sic] Pagan, but who do not adhere to any of the
standard [pagan] traditions. However, since most pagans today are actually neopagans as Powell
explains, modern pagans are more interested in evolving and cultivating their own practices rather
than trying to emulate traditional, ancient practices (41) often neopagans are simply referred to as
pagans.
According Jones, besides finding nature sacred, many pagan religions are polytheistic with many
believing in at least a god and a goddess. Again it is important to note that while all Wiccans are
pagans, not all pagans are Wiccans. For example, according to the

Greek and Roman Military Influences in Modern Warfare
Current militaries have benefitted from the principles of ancient Greek and Roman warfare by
studying the ancient battles, tactics, and use of supplies to develop effective military plans. Current
militaries study and debate historical turning points of the ancient battles to understand how the
leaders planned and executed battles. The empires growth was due in part to the might and successes
of their military. The strength of their militaries came from many factors including their use of armor,
weapons, and military tactics. The empires leaders used these three advantages to create the superior
armies of their time. An important contributing factor to an army s success is armor for defense. An
army can have skilled soldiers, but cannot be successful without the right armor. Roman and Greek
armies wore similar types of armor. The Roman and Greek foot soldiers wore a square breastplate on
their torso. While the Romans only wore one greave on their left leg, Greeks wore greaves on both
legs. A greave was a sheet of metal worn to protect the legs (Horsepower: Harnessed...). Soldiers wear
greaves even in current day. Recently, the greaves have been upgraded to protect the legs from
Improvised explosive devices, such as those in Iraq (Frost, Quad Guard). Roman soldiers wore a
helmet that protected the neck, and came around to protect their face. The Greek s helmets were more
full and protective than the Roman helmets. Greek helmets covered their entire head and only left

Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Good Teacher
One of the most essential exercises when in comes to professional development as an instructor is to
continuously reflect on your perspective, methodology, instruction and behavior within your
profession. Doing so ensure that you a growing and improving on teaching skills and building on old
strengths to benefit you as an instructor but especially the students that you serve. What is a good
teacher? What the educator does in teaching is to make it possible for the students to become
themselves. 1A teachers objective should not be to shape the students as a reflection of that educators
image, instead they should see themselves as the medium of which the information in communicated,
they should see themselves a person who elevates that students to higher concepts of learning,
aspiration and liberation. A good teacher must recognize the strength and weaknesses in skills of the
individual and class and reflect on how to leverage strength amongst learners to become successful. A
good teacher plans with intention with all these things in mind to communicate the content of lesson to
the psyche of the learner. A good educator is transforms themselves and those they serve to reach their
loftiest goals. Strengths and Weaknesses The biggest strength I have is to be creative with the situation
that I am given. This in not only a skill that suggest that one can synthesize material to give it a sense
of authenticity, but also can adapt and accommodate in the moment. Even the best planners can have a
poor classroom dynamic; the rigidity of these classes is what prevents them from engaging students in
the moment. I genuinely believe in effective planning and mythology but I also believe in breaking
from the script and to accommodate the needs of learners in creative ways. The biggest weakness I
have is how I present direction of material. I believe that I am an effective communicator but there is
always room to grow on communication especially in a classroom that is foreign and does not speak
the language taught. Clear, concise instructions are key in building a classroom that functions and
transitions smoothly from one activity to another, or one piece of information to the next. If a student

Formal Analysis of Raging Bull Essay
Formal Analysis of Raging Bull Martin Scorsese s film Raging Bull is considered by many to be one
of the greatest sports films of all time. The plot focuses on the professional and personal life of boxer
Jake LaMotta. In the opening sequence, the film uses narrative, mise en scene, cinematography,
editing, and sound to provide a framework for the rest of the picture. These elements also help to
establish the film s themes of nostalgia, isolation, loneliness, and suffering. In addition to setting up
the film s themes, these elements also help to create two distinct personas of the main character Jake

Occasionally, the scene will be interrupted by the sudden appearance of flashbulbs penetrating the
smoky air. This not only lends a feeling of authenticity for the setting and time period, it also reflects
the sudden outbursts of violence prevalent throughout the rest of the film. LaMotta himself is
shrouded in his robe and shadows, making his face impossible to see, however his gloved fists are
easily seen as he gracefully throws jabs and stalks the left side of the ring. This introduces his fists as a
motif that is repeated throughout the film. For example, LaMotta sees his hands as being too small,
later he abuses them against a cell wall, and most obviously are a symbol of his livelihood. His fists
are a tool, which he uses to punish others, as well as himself. The scene cuts to a sign, in the middle of
the screen, that reads An Evening with Jake LaMotta and the audience hears the voice of LaMotta for
the first time, which will lead to the next scene. The use of the word evening signals the transition that
is about to take place. The audience has seen LaMotta early in his career and now are about to witness
him in his career s twilight. This short scene ends when a man crosses in front of the sign, creating a
swiping effect. Now, the third scene begins. The viewer is presented a medium shot of an older,
overweight, and sloppy LaMotta. Juxtaposing the composition of the opening scene where LaMotta is

Argentina was flourishing due to its exportation of valuable goods, this small sectored economy
ultimately was the first factor that set the tone of economic depression in Argentina, as the economy

The decline was driven by tariff barriers and high transpiration costs, resulting in the Consumer Price

weakening of its major economic sector and there saw an increase in social inequality along with a
decline in the well being of the lower classes. Then between 180 and 1816 Argentina broke away from

Love Poetry By Edna St. Vincent Millay
Courtly Love Poetry
Whenever modern poetry is mentioned, there is an overwhelming consensus that it involves an
onslaught of free verse with irregular structure Modern poetry was seen as not rhyming, even when it
did rhyme; as obscure and difficult, even when it was at its most lucid and limpid (Schmidt, 3). There
is also a stereotype that traditional forms of poetry that were popular in the past were abandoned.
However, when looking at examples of modern poetry, it becomes clear that this is not the case.
Whilst it is true that many modern poets have embraced the free verse form of poetry, others have
adopted classical poem forms. Tweaking them slightly so that can adapt to the modern world. Thus
reviving these forms and making them more fresh and relevant. American poet Edna St. Vincent
Millay can be seen to fit into this category. She is particularly well known for her sonnets. This essay
will analyse one of Millay s sonnets in to context of the evolution of courtly love poetry. The history
of the sonnet will also be examined to demonstrate how Millay has faithfully refashioned her poems.
However, whist Millay has kept the construction of sonnet pure she has differed in the message it
portrays. Hence this essay will also deconstruct Millay s poem and discuss how its tone differs from
traditional courtly love poetry.
According to Burt and Mikics (6) the origins of the sonnet can be traced back to France and the courts
of Sicily in the thirteenth century. It is

Sigmund Freud, Women and Child Abuse

Sigmund Freud has been called the father of psychotherapy. His studies and views on how personality

questions. These two questions are; did Freud sexually abuse children and did Freud have a personal
vendetta against women?
Life and Times Sigmund Freud was born in 1856 to a Jewish Family and grew up in Freiberg,

Many people believe Freud engaged in sexual abuse of children as a part of his studies. His studies on
the theories of personality are based upon five stages of development in a child from birth until
adulthood. All the theories are centered on specific erogenous zones or particular body parts that are
sensitive to sexual stimulation (Stevenson, 1996). Needs, as noted by Freud, which need to be met
during each of these stages of development are present from the moment of birth. If the needs are not
met or if the needs are overly met, the child will experience frustration or overindulgence issues
(Stevenson, 1996). In addition to the issues of frustration or overindulgence, should the child become
fixated upon a particular stage the methods the child uses to obtain satisfaction for that stage will
affect the child throughout adulthood (Stevenson, 1996). How did Freud identify these theories? Did
Freud sexually assault his young patients? From studies that have been conducted on Freud s research
the findings show that Freud abandoned his seduction theory when he began to realize that the
accounts of sexual abuse by parents were not true. In fact, Freud noted that these accounts were most
probably due to the patient s repressed sexual desires for the

The Foundation of Orthodoxy and the Canon
God is the Divine Author of a set of books, songs, narratives and letters that were written as a way for
man to draw nearer to Him through His loving Son Jesus the Christ. God s Word is an expression of
who God is and who His Son is. J. Scott Duvall and J. Daniel Hays wrote a book called Grasping God
s Word. Within this book, the authors inspire their readers by giving a detailed reason why we study
the Bible. They say, The reason we study the Bible is that we want to hear God s Word to us. They go
on to say, The Bible was written by numerous human authors, but the divine aspect of it is inseparably

Those declared inspired were of two basic categories of both eyewitness accounts of the Messiah (the
Gospels), and letters from key witnesses written to various groups of believers (the Epistles).
Concentrated effort was made to establish the authoritative collection of inspired books of the Bible
into the Canon during the fourth century; however, there had been earlier attempts to list the
acceptable books. The Muratorian Canon had listed all the books of the Bible except for 1 John, 1 and
2 Peter, Hebrews and James around A.D. 180, and the Syriac Version of the Canon lists all of the
books except Revelation in the third century. The apocryphal writings were seen as less than inspired
by the fourth century, and many of the books previously held in high regard were beginning to
disappear, as the formal establishment of Canon began. Both the East and the West Churches
established their Canons in the fourth century on the criterion of maintaining a connection to the
apostles or their immediate disciples in the collection of writings. Athanasius of Alexandria listed the
complete 27 books of the New Testament for the Eastern Church, while Jerome listed just 39 Old
Testament books with our present day 27 New Testament ones for the West Church. The resulting
Vulgate Bible, translated by Jerome to Latin, was used throughout the Christian world. The Synods of
Carthage confirmed the 27 books of the New Testament of

Wendy s Crisis Management
On March 22, Wendy s has faced a crisis after a 39 years old woman, Anna Ayala, allegedly claimed
that she had bitten down on a human fingertip in a spoonful of Wendy s chili at a San Jose location.
Within 24 hours, media had the entire story published and broadcasted causing Wendy s to face the
issue of recovering its brand image since then. At the beginning, the police was still unable to identify
whose the finger was and was uncertainty about whether the finger came from a dead or live person.
However, the police was able to initially identify that the object was assumed to be from a woman
because of its long and manicured nail. Furthermore, the gruesome was preserved enough to draw a
sample of DNA and fingerprints.

For 35 years, Wendy s has served the highest quality food that is safe and wholesome. We re going to
continue to do just that, selling hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, salads and other great products.

One mission that Wendy s have to focus on after it became clear that Wendy s was wrongly accused is
to inform the public that Wendy s wasn t the suspect but it was the victim in order to get its customer
back. After the announcement, Wendy s launched a couple new campaigns as part of its efforts to
repair its image showing its customer appreciation. The first effort was that 100,000 Frosty shakes
would be given to its customer around San Jose area on April 23 and 24, the weekend after Ayala had
been arrested and other local efforts were direct mail offers, customer appreciation events, and radio
promotions. Diane Weed, the Wendy s Pacific division vice president, convinced that he want
everybody to remember that Wendy s is the same Wendy s that it s always been. The giveaway is how
Wendy s thanking its loyal customers and reassuring people who may have some doubt or concern.
From every passing day that the mystery of the finger goes unsolved, Wendy s confronted with the lost
of business, 20 to 50 percents of the sales, among northern California locations while national sales
was lost only 2 to 2.5 percents (New York Times, April 29, 2005). The stock market didn t get serious

  • 4. Vacation In Myrtle Beach Essay examples Last summer my friends and I packed up and took a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The excitement of the strip and the relaxation of the beach allured me to this particular vacation spot. If you are looking for an entertaining and relaxing way to spend the hot days of summer, Myrtle Beach has plenty to offer. Myrtle Beach stretches up the coast of South Carolina and North Carolina. The drive takes approximately six hours from East Tennessee State University. Our trip during the summer made for a great vacation, the temperature stayed between the 80 s and 90 s, perfect sun tanning weather. Myrtle Beach has many hotels and resorts to chose from. Most of them sit either right on the beach or across the street. The rates usually run weekly from Sunday to Saturday. A week s stay always gives me enough time to do and see all I want. The inexpensive hotels, as stated earlier, can be found on the strip. These hotels normally run about $180 a week for a room with two double beds. The resort areas, however, cost around $400 a week depending on where you stay. I recommend the place that I stayed when I was a child, the Breakers Resort. The Resort includes an oceanfront view, two pools, a hot tub, poolside bar and restaurant. Wherever you decide to stay you are sure to enjoy the atmosphere and excitement of Myrtle Beach. Restaurants in Myrtle Beach appear almost as plentiful as the hotels. Where you eat may depend on how much money you want to spend. My friends and I, as typical college students, did not have much money to spend. So we ate at the local fast food restaurants, such as, Burger King, Taco Bell and McDonalds, for the majority of the trip. We found, however, that the River City CafĂ© had good food for a great price. If you would like to eat a more cordial dinner, the Calabash Seafood restaurant has sensational seafood entrĂ©e s. With all the hotels nestled along the coast, the most obvious attraction is the beach itself. The beautiful water and clean beach makes for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The middle class consisted of a high percentage of the intellectuals, authors, teachers, and journalists and also they had the most influential voice in the late 19th century (Charlip Burns, 177). One of the most important points about the middle class was that they were not only the true nationalists in Latin America but also they regarded the United States as their model, thus they tried to learn something beneficial from the United Sates for their nation s prosperity and citizens. It also explains the conceptual framework and conceptual map of the study.. 2.1 Concept of Women Entrepreneur Women or a group of women who initiate, organize and operates a business enterprise is defined as Women Entrepreneurs . The Government of India has defined women entrepreneurs as an enterprise owned and controlled by women having a minimum financial interest of 51 per cent of the capital and giving at least 51 per cent of the employment generated in the enterprise to women. Women Entrepreneur is a person who accepts challenging role to meet her personal needs and become economically independent (Meenu Goyal and Jai Prakash, 2011, pp. ). In India, these entrepreneurs are part of the larger sustainable development strategy employed by the policymakers. Evidence shows that Women entrepreneurship has already contributed to the economic growth across the world and women led enterprises are increasing in every country.. These enterprises also created a large number of job opportunities in their respective economies. Apart from this, these enterprises also created new business solutions for the pressing social problems.Further in whole enterprises scenario, number of enterprises owned by women is very less compared to men. Government of India has implemented various schemes for development of such enterprises but impact is yet to be seen. Over the past few decades role of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Compare And Contrast Ben Franklin And The Lightning Rod the lightning rod was not made by Benjamin Franklin. As this paper has mentioned earlier, Benjamin Franklin has contrived some electrical phraseologies that are still widely used today even though his theories are now outdated or proved to be wrong. For instance, even ordinary people who have no previous experiences with physics use the terms, including positive charge , negative charge , plus , minus and battery even though they might not know the meanings of the words accurately. In the era of Benjamin Franklin, people likely to believe that the charges have similar properties as the fluid. Their theories are now called as the fluid theory. At the same time, at the era of Benjamin Franklin, majority of people believed that two charges, positive charge and negative charge , were different entities. This theory was called as the two fluid theory. On the other hand, Benjamin Franklin at that time had a different idea. He believed that two opposite charges are not separate entities. He observed that rubbing into different materials made them charges either negatively or positively. At that time, Benjamin Franklin made a theory that excessive electric fluid makes an electric positively and less electric fluid makes electricity to charge negatively. On the other hand, both fluid theories, including the two fluid theory and the one fluid theory from Benjamin Franklin are now considered as outdated theory. We know now that what makes charges either positively or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is recommended that children get vaccinated at 12 to 23 months and again at 2 to 4 years. Adults who were not vaccinated as children can get vaccinated at any time so long as they get each dose 6 to 18 months apart. • 13. Racial Disparities Within Nursing Home ( Nh ) Care Quality... I. Introduction There exist significant racial disparities in nursing home (NH) care quality. Although some improvements have been made in recent years, Blacks are still more likely to receive suboptimal care in this setting, compared to Whites (1). Blacks are also more likely to be admitted to poorer quality NH s than Whites (2). There also tend to be racial disparities in psychosocial well being among NH residents, as determined by lower social engagement among Blacks versus Whites (3). These findings are particularly alarming provided that the proportion of Blacks aged 65 and older who live in NH s has increased dramatically, while the number of Whites in NH s has declined (4). Multiple factors contribute to the disparities between Blacks and Whites in NH care quality. One such factor is the lack of regulatory practices to curb racial discrimination in this setting. This paper will propose a policy that aims to enforce and penalize Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) funded NH s that are in violation of current anti discriminatory laws. The proposed policy would be passed and implemented at the federal government level, however it would also require cooperation from public, state agencies. II. But they use that concept as a metaphor for their thesis, that women writers were isolated and treated with approbation. In most literature, attics are dark, dusty, seldom visited storage areas, like that of the Tulliver house in The Mill on the Floss a great attic under the old high pitched roof, with worm eaten floors, worm eaten shelves, and dark rafters festooned with cobwebs a place thought to be weird and ghostly. Attics make us think of history, interesting artifacts, old toys, books, clothes, linens, jewelry, and other treasures but, most of all, of deep, dark, and significant family secrets. It was in the attic of the house that I grew up in that, as a snooping teenager, I found the packet of letters from my mother to her first husband. Her FIRST husband. I had never dreamed that she had had but one husband my father. And had I not ferreted out those letters, I probably still would not know. Then, that night, my father took me aside I m sure at my mother s urging and confessed that he too had been married and divorced before he met my mother. Whether particular attics hide such secrets hardly matters. What matters is that psychologically we believe that they do. In fact, attics frequently house just the sort of information I unearthed facts that one is too attached to to throw away, but which one very much wants to remain secret. Before a discussion of attics can begin, it is essential to define what is meant by attic and to distinguish attics from upper rooms. Not all third floor spaces are attics, because many larger houses have and had third floor rooms that were normal living spaces, sometimeshaving bedrooms and sometimes having a huge, finished room used for balls and other parties. Such rooms were furnished, and comfortably habitable. Such is the case with a room that is often cited as an attic that incarcerates a madwoman, the upper room in The ... Is childhood obesity caused by a lack of exercise, an unhealthy diet, or both? Obese people, or more commonly referred to as fat people or overweight people, are defined as adults who s BMI (body mass index) is over 30 percent. There have always been overweight people in human society, but the rate of growth for this percentage of our population has been steadily rising in the last few decades. When it comes to the topic of obesity, most of us will readily agree that it is a problem. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of why it is happening. Whereas some are convinced that this trait is genetic, others maintain that people become obese simply due to diet and lack of exercise. In discussions of overweight children, one controversial issue has been who is at risk. On the one hand, A. Cattaneo argues that ...excess adiposity is a key risk factor for many chronic diseases. On the other hand, Reilly, J. J. contends that there is a ...need for practical, objective, methods that both identify the fattest children and adolescents adequately, and identify those who are at greatest risk of the co morbidities of obesity. The goal for this study was to use chant therapy to decrease the individuals fatigue by making it a habit for them to use differential muscle activity. To meet this goal the authors focused on finding a normal speaking pitch, increased prosodic accent and a better standard deviation for their fundamental frequencies. A Voice Range Profile (FRP) was used to find a more efficient speaking pitch. The pitch targeted was characterized by being in the individual s lower range where the largest loudness gain was found in the semitone below it. The individuals were taught this pitch and it was used as the mediation note for chant therapy. The researchers also implemented a placebo therapy. It included the same amount of non effortful speech as the chant therapy and there were no environmental or behavioral changes implemented. Each individual was paired with another and was told to speak to each other in a normal voice for one hour, which was the same amount of time as the chant therapy. Garibaldi Unification Essay The background on Risorgimento and Giuseppi Garibaldi s role in the unification of Italy sparked my curiosity about the impact unification had on national and regional identities in Italy, and the effect these identities have on the way the world perceives the people of Italy as opposed to the way they see each other. It seems to me that Garibaldi and the unification process must have had a profound effect on the people of Italy and the way they see themselves fitting into the nation state as a whole. I would imagine that many of these questions do not have clear answers, but rather complicated explanations that lead to even more questioning. Another interesting way of looking at Italian identities from an international perspective is examining the way other nations see Italy as having either distinct regional differences or a larger collective identity. If there are so many different regional identities, where did the Italian identity known in the United States come from? If each region has their own culture, how can we claim to know Italian food, music, art, or any other cultural element? I would imagine that much of the food in an area of Italy is dependent on what is produced in that region of the nation, and therefore could not be encompassed by the umbrella of Italian food. I know that many Italian foods are named after the region where they are produced, such as parmigiano and Marsala wine, thus preserving some of the regional identity in the name. So where did this larger culture come from, is what we know as Italian food really the food from a specific region or something else entirely? It would be interesting to study how this national identity emerged over time, and does its presence mean that some people no longer care about their regional loyalty? I would expect that as generations become further and further removed from the time before unification, more and more people would identify more with Italy on a national scale rather than their specific regions. Yet, in many places regional pride and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cohen, first premiered in Paris, France and won first place in the Paris choreographic competition held by the International Archives of the Dance in early July of 1932 (Martin 155). Kurt Jooss (1901 1979) was a German choreographer and dancer, as well as a visionary for his time. Fritz A. Cohen (1904 1967) was a German composer, who worked closely with Jooss to create this piece, which has been interpreted by John Martin as a statement against war. The ballet Der GrĂŒne Tisch, subtitled, A Tatentanz, achieved praise, not only in Paris and Germany, but also Amsterdam, Brussels, London, and America (Martin 155). As Martin sums up, In eight loosely connected scenes...it pictures the bitter futility of war (155). In other words, Jooss explores the ineffectiveness of violence through a series of scenes depicting battle and woe. The New York stock market crash in 1929 sparked a worldwide economic crisis ( Hitler Comes to Power ). By June of 1932, six million people were unemployed in Germany and the economic distress led to a rise in the support of the Nazi party; consequently, the Nazi party won the votes of almost 40 percent of the electorate in the German parliament elections of July 1932 ( Hitler Comes to Power ). The release of oxytocin that occurs during breastfeeding does not only have a favorable effect on the mother physiologically, but also psychologically. These neurotransmitters can have a positive effect on a new mother s disposition. They have been shown to decrease the amount of stress that a new mother goes through after giving birth, increases pleasant mood, and also contributes to the bonding experience that mothers and newborns can have while breastfeeding. Another key aspect of being a Wiccan is being a pagan or neopagan. As defined by Prudence Jones from the Pagan Federation International, pagan is a term used to describe a follower of a polytheistic or pantheistic nature worshipping religion, while neopagan is a term used to describe those whose religions, as Eric A. According to Jones, the term neopagan is also used to describe all those [religions] who are recognisably [sic] Pagan, but who do not adhere to any of the standard [pagan] traditions. However, since most pagans today are actually neopagans as Powell explains, modern pagans are more interested in evolving and cultivating their own practices rather than trying to emulate traditional, ancient practices (41) often neopagans are simply referred to as pagans. Greek and Roman Military Influences in Modern Warfare Current militaries have benefitted from the principles of ancient Greek and Roman warfare by studying the ancient battles, tactics, and use of supplies to develop effective military plans. Current militaries study and debate historical turning points of the ancient battles to understand how the leaders planned and executed battles. The empires growth was due in part to the might and successes of their military. The strength of their militaries came from many factors including their use of armor, weapons, and military tactics. The empires leaders used these three advantages to create the superior armies of their time. An important contributing factor to an army s success is armor for defense. An army can have skilled soldiers, but cannot be successful without the right armor. Roman and Greek armies wore similar types of armor. The Roman and Greek foot soldiers wore a square breastplate on their torso. While the Romans only wore one greave on their left leg, Greeks wore greaves on both legs. Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Good Teacher One of the most essential exercises when in comes to professional development as an instructor is to continuously reflect on your perspective, methodology, instruction and behavior within your profession. Doing so ensure that you a growing and improving on teaching skills and building on old strengths to benefit you as an instructor but especially the students that you serve. What is a good teacher? What the educator does in teaching is to make it possible for the students to become themselves. 1A teachers objective should not be to shape the students as a reflection of that educators image, instead they should see themselves as the medium of which the information in communicated, they should see themselves a person who elevates that students to higher concepts of learning, aspiration and liberation. A good teacher must recognize the strength and weaknesses in skills of the individual and class and reflect on how to leverage strength amongst learners to become successful. A good teacher plans with intention with all these things in mind to communicate the content of lesson to the psyche of the learner. A good educator is transforms themselves and those they serve to reach their loftiest goals. Strengths and Weaknesses The biggest strength I have is to be creative with the situation that I am given. This in not only a skill that suggest that one can synthesize material to give it a sense of authenticity, but also can adapt and accommodate in the moment. Even the best planners can have a poor classroom dynamic; the rigidity of these classes is what prevents them from engaging students in the moment. I genuinely believe in effective planning and mythology but I also believe in breaking from the script and to accommodate the needs of learners in creative ways. The biggest weakness I have is how I present direction of material. I believe that I am an effective communicator but there is always room to grow on communication especially in a classroom that is foreign and does not speak the language taught. Clear, concise instructions are key in building a classroom that functions and transitions smoothly from one activity to another, or one piece of information to the next. If a student does ... There is also a stereotype that traditional forms of poetry that were popular in the past were abandoned. Needs, as noted by Freud, which need to be met during each of these stages of development are present from the moment of birth. The law also makes it illegal to retaliate against a person because the person complained about discrimination, filed a charge of discrimination, or participated in an employment discrimination investigation or lawsuit. The law also requires that employers reasonably accommodate applicants and employees sincerely held religious practices, unless doing so would impose an undue hardship on the operation of the employer s business (Laws, n.d.). Born out of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The E.E.O.C. is charged with enforcing the laws that prohibit discrimination of a protected class in all aspects of the employment process. In other words, they ensure employers act fairly in hiring, firing, promoting, giving raises, testing and training (Teaching, n.d.). Since its inception, the power of the E.E.O.C. ... Church History Marcus Parker February 1, 2011 CHHI 301 B02 LUO Professor Michael Mitchell The Foundation of Orthodoxy and the Canon God is the Divine Author of a set of books, songs, narratives and letters that were written as a way for man to draw nearer to Him through His loving Son Jesus the Christ. God s Word is an expression of who God is and who His Son is. J. Scott Duvall and J. Daniel Hays wrote a book called Grasping God s Word. Those declared inspired were of two basic categories of both eyewitness accounts of the Messiah (the Gospels), and letters from key witnesses written to various groups of believers (the Epistles). Concentrated effort was made to establish the authoritative collection of inspired books of the Bible into the Canon during the fourth century; however, there had been earlier attempts to list the acceptable books. The Muratorian Canon had listed all the books of the Bible except for 1 John, 1 and 2 Peter, Hebrews and James around A.D. 180, and the Syriac Version of the Canon lists all of the books except Revelation in the third century. The apocryphal writings were seen as less than inspired by the fourth century, and many of the books previously held in high regard were beginning to disappear, as the formal establishment of Canon began. Both the East and the West Churches established their Canons in the fourth century on the criterion of maintaining a connection to the apostles or their immediate disciples in the collection of writings. Athanasius of Alexandria listed the complete 27 books of the New Testament for the Eastern Church, while Jerome listed just 39 Old Testament books with our present day 27 New Testament ones for the West Church. The resulting Vulgate Bible, translated by Jerome to Latin, was used throughout the Christian world. The Synods of Carthage confirmed the 27 books of the New Testament of ... Concurrently, a cross functional team developed a set of Good Engineering Practices (GEPs) that detailed all of the business processes underlying the Project Services functions of estimating, scheduling, cost, change, and risk management. The GEPs incorporated much of the native knowledge of the Project Management group along with industry best practices. After intensive vetting by an extensive review process, these practices served as the basis for engagement of PCSI. After considering these requirements and implementing a strict bid and award phase, the solutions chosen were Skire Unifier for cost and change management, Primavera and Microsoft Project for project and portfolio planning, Timberline for estimating, and Advisor for benchmarking Figure 2.
