Assess The Impact Of Transnational Cinema
Being an island nation makes us a trading nation, which is an obvious connection between borders.
How we trade with each other allows for transnational cinema to be present and is the basis for an
understanding, which connects people across geographical borders. Following the recent European
referendum it is relevant to mention how this will affect the UK s filmindustry regarding trade. The
MEDIA Scheme/Creative Europefunding will be stopped, co productions with different countries
will be harder to achieve in the short term, British/European co productions may need new
legislation, and fewer UK films will be shown in European cinemas as well as many other negative
outcomes (Follows, 2016). However this shows how much transnationalism affects UK trade,
company distribution and future films success as well as the impact which politics has upon the
film industry. This shows how not only cast/crewmembers nationalities, the location and the
storyline matters in transnational cinema, but the trade and distribution after the film is made all
enhance the transnationality of the piece.
Interestingly, it seems when discussing terrorism in cinema, filmmakers more often than not make
films about terrorism that has happened in their own country. Hollywood cinema noticeably has an
absence of terrorism, whereas European films in contrast have far more. ... Show more content on

Eliminating distance, a film made in a different place to another can be seen as showing different
viewpoints, whether that be from the filmmakers perspective or through the innate customs of the
characters. An Irish film viewed in England could be seen as transnational due to the difference in
country, therefore allowing audiences to understand different traditions. Transnational cinema
includes the national, rather than declining

Keynes’s Analysis of the Stock Market and Identifying the...
Keynes s analysis in Chapter 12 of the General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money suggests
that capitalism is inherently unstable due to its financial structure .
Discuss outlining Keynes s analysis of the stock market and identifying the related policy
conclusions he reaches.
In Chapter 12 of the General Theory of Employment, John Maynard Keynes focused on examining
the stock market and how it functions, in the sense of its structure and how it is affected by the
behavior of investors because he believed the behavior of the stock market affects the aggregate
demand, hence the rest of the economic system. He is most interested in the fluctuations of the
rates of investments in the stock market that consequently affect ... Show more content on

Keynes (1936, p155 56) describes the stock market using an analogy between professional
investment and newspaper beauty contest: Professional investment may be likened to those
newspaper competitions in which the competitors have to pick out the six prettiest faces from a
hundred photographs, the prize being awarded to the competitor whose choice most nearly
corresponds to the average preferences of the competitors as a whole...It is not a case of choosing
those which, to the best of one s judgment, are really the prettiest, nor even those which average
opinion genuinely thinks the prettiest. We have reached the third degree where we devote our
intelligence to anticipating what average opinion expects the average opinion to be. And there are
some, I believe, who practice the fourth, fifth, and higher degrees. The Stock Market decisions work
based on conventional values too, where each is not concerned with determining the real stock
value, but the market value the community will place on the stock, before everyone else does.
Keynes observes some other features of this situation within the stock market. This type of liquidity
not only leads to future fluctuations in physical asset investment, but also creates fluctuations of the
daily profit on investments which further influences the market. One of the key themes Keynes
observes is that there is plenty of

Pros And Cons Of Senior Care Texas And Companionship
Senior Care Texas and Companionship
As we age, there are many positive events that happen in our lives. We get to witness the marriage
of our children, the birth of our grandchildren or great grandchildren, and hopefully enjoy the fruits
of our labor during retirement. There are some negative parts to aging as well. Friends and family
pass on or move away, the excitement of the workforce is replaced with endless numbers of
unscheduled days, and even your closest allies, such as a spouse, may move on in divorce or death.
The result of these changes, despite the many positives, is loneliness.
According to studies by the University of California at San Francisco, nearly half of seniors report
having regular feelings of loneliness. Surprisingly, half of those seniors ... Show more content on

The University of Rochester Medical Center found that social interaction is important for health,
and loneliness leads to medical problems. One study found fewer colds, lower blood pressure, and
lower heart rates in seniors with strong social ties. Statistics show that marriage, perhaps the
strongest tie, adds years to life expectancy. And suicide, mental illness and alcoholism rates are
much lower when people feel a sense of belonging.
Studies at UC San Francisco support the Rochester findings. They found that seniors over 60
who experience prolonged bouts of loneliness have a 45 percent increase in their risk of death.
They were also nearly 60 percent more likely to have mental and physical problems develop as a
result of the loneliness.
Supporting the idea that more people does not necessarily resolve loneliness, Dr. T. Byram
Karasu Albert Einstein College of Medicine s chair of psychiatry and behavioral sciences found
that Even when they re being taken care of by family caregivers, there is often little attention paid
to deep, engaging communication between a senior and the rest of the family. The result is a
feeling of being pushed aside and chronic

Visual Imagery In Homer s Odyssey
In this passage, Odysseus resists the urge to comfort his grieving wife, which would have caused
him to give away his cover. He knows that in time he would be reunited with his wife. However, he
is still deeply moved by his wife s expression of love for him. As the disguised Odysseus describes
to Penelope his encounters with Odysseusin Crete, she breaks down into tears, sobbing
emotionally. Homer s use of visual imagery and poetic language adds color to his work, bringing
the text to life.
As she listened on, her tears flowed and soaked her cheeks as the heavy snow melts down from
the high mountain ridges, snow the West Wind piles there and the warm East Wind thaws and the
snow, melting, swells the rivers to overflow their banks so she dissolved in tears, streaming down
her lovely cheeks, weeping for him, her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Odysseus s heart went out to his grief stricken wife but under his lids his eyes remained stock
still they might have been horn or iron his guile fought back tears (XIX.236 245). Homer
displays visual imagery by using the words flowed and soaked. In one s mind, this creates an
image of Penelope s tears running, like a river of endless sorrow, and drowning her cheeks in
them. Homer then proceeds to use the simile of comparing her tears to the heavy snow that
melts and comes pouring down from the highest peaks, piled there by the West Wind. By the use
of the word heavy, it pictures Penelope as bursting with tears, streams running down her face. In
addition, by saying that, the warm East Wind thaws and the snow, melting, swells the rivers to
overflow, Homer provides us with more kinesthetic imagery, as you can feel as well as see
Penelope s sorrow. One can see her eyes filling to the brim with tears, as slowly, drip by

A Father s Absence
A father is a very important figure in a child s life. They help raise and guide their child so they
can have a successful life in the future. Father s always want what s best for their kids and most
of the time they will sacrifice what they have for their children. Without fathers, children today
would be out of control and running amok. This is evident in the present and is becoming more
prevalent around the world. Fathers are needed in child s life so they can help educate their
children on a respectful lifestyle. There are long term consequences when a father a is not there for
their child.
A father does not have to be dead to not be their for his child, he just needs to be absent from their

The girl is on her knees praying for her father because he is in depression and she wants her old
dad back. Her father being away from her has emotionally affected her negatively and if he does
not get out of depression, could emotionally damage her for a long time.
If fathers made a conscious decision to be around their child, that can lead to negative emotional
consequences later in life. In Third Bank of the River JoГЈo GuimarГЈes Rosa writes I was deeply
distressed and felt the need to do something more. (Page 357). In the story, the Father leaves the
son as he goes on river with his boat and stays away from civilization. He stays like that for the
most of his son s life and that sentence demonstrates that his son has been affected by his father s
absence which can lead to future consequences.
In the story Third bank of the River JoГЈo GuimarГЈes Rosa also writes No, we could never put

how his father left him like he did. This horrible memory could come into play when wants to have

Improving Blood Circulation Research Paper
elthammyo.com.au Myotherapy for Improved Blood Circulation
Myotherapy is a combination of massage and other techniques that relaxes and heals the body in a
number of different ways, including increasing blood circulation. The myotherapist analyses each
patient before taking action to ensure that he or she works on the specific trigger points that will
alleviate the patient s tension, pain or other issue. At times, patients have an injury that requires
attention to speed healing in the area in order the patients to be able to return their normal lives.
Our topic today is on the fact that you can rely on myotherapy for improved blood circulation.
How Myotherapy Increases Blood Flow
As the myotherapist massages the necessary trigger points, the muscles release their tension, and
this in turn relaxes the veins and arteries that transport the blood to and from the heart and other
parts of the body. The therapist is then able to move the blood through the area with his or her...

The cells require these elements to perform their functions in the proper manner. On top of this,
when an injury is present, it often requires an additional supply of these elements in order to heal
properly. A series of myotherapy sessions keep the blood flow at optimal levels for healing.
Since the myotherapy relaxes even the heart muscles, your blood pumps through your body at a
normal rate, which results in lowering your blood pressure. This reduces your risk of heart
problems along with other health issues.
Your thinking will be clearer when the rate of your blood circulation increases since it will deliver

The Pros And Cons Of Hitachi
I. Introduction
In this decade, design thinking has been captured attention from innovation scholars. Design
thinking, originated from basic practices of designers, is a series of activities and attitudes toward
bringing innovation [3][26]. This idea does not claim a necessity of being a designer, but designers
may have a high potential to be an innovator in a various occasion.
In fact, recent management studies discovered that industrial designers contribute to innovative
scientific research in the natural science field [5][29]. These studies clearly illustrate how industrial
designers tactfully set a demand pull goal and facilitate consensus building among research project
members.
They are also likely to achieve technological innovation in the industry sector. Reference [27] found
their superiority in setting a consumer oriented goal. Indeed, a versatile entrepreneur and industrial
designer, James Dyson, invented a novel vacuum technology to resolve a suction problem, which

Analysis Of The Book The Scarlet Letter
As I began my summer reading assignment I wasn t too amused at the beginning chapters
of the Scarlet Letter, With Hawthorne throwing around words like quietude I wasn t sure if
it was truly the difference in his old English speech, or if he was tossing in obscure words just to
send people looking through their dictionaries to find out if he had, in fact, made the word up, or
not. But, as I delved deeper into Hawthorn s work I found a brilliant story with some of the
richest characters I had ever had the pleasure of reading about. Of the four major characters in
the book, I empathized with Arthur Dimmesdale the most. Dimmesdale is man of God
imprisoned by his own beliefs, and because of this he lives his life wallowing in guilt, despair,
and pain. Dimmesdale wants to be a father to Pearl, but to do so it would jeopardize his social
standing in the Puritan culture and his career. In his confliction, Dimmesdale feels that he
should punish himself; he takes away what little humanity he has left just so he can feel he has
appeased God. I can t help but feel sorry for a man who lives in such a heartbreaking pool of
despair and self loathing.
Where Dimmesdale s character really shines, though, is in the Election Day sermon scene
and the scenes leading up to the Election Day sermon. After leaving the forest Dimmesdale is
filled with new life and motivation. He now has purpose, something to live for. Later, in the
third scaffold scene, Dimmesdale

Examples Of Grit In Nursing
There are a lot of different ways people could think of grit. My concept of grit would be having
the passion and perseverance to accomplish something. My goal is to one day be a travel nurse.
There are alot things that come with nursing, becoming a travel nurse will be challenging but
with courage, follow through and excellence rather than perfection you can achieve that goal. To
become a travel nurse you need to obtain a bachelors of science in nursing and have no less than
one year of experience in the the speciality applied for. To get your bachelors of science in
nursing you have to go through a five semesters of nursing classes and then pass the NCLEX
exam. To get through five semesters you will need a good bit of courage. There is one quote In
the passage 5 characteristics of grit: how many do you have? that stands out to me the most.
Perlis states, While courage is hard to measure, it is directly proportional to your level of grit.
More specifically, you ability to manage fear of failure is imperative and predictor of success.
(perlis 3). This quote to me says, the level of gritienst will determine how much fear you have of
failure. For me i am pretty scared to fail but in reality that will push me to continue and be
successful. Courage will not only help me obtain my degree but it will also help me in the field of...

Reflecting on Personal Identity and Global Citizenship
The importance of educating others on global citizenship is a very important factor to consider
when it comes to human rights for all. This type of subject is an important subject, especially
when it comes to educating others on global citizenship. Each and every individual should be
educated on global citizenship in a such way to bring about a world of greater justice. Global
citizenship is a voluntary association with a concept that signifies ways of thinking and living
within multiple cross cutting communities cities, regions, states, nations, and international
collectives. This is all due to the practice of global citizenship. According to Hans Schattle
(Schattle, 2009, p. 3), perhaps more than any other concept, the idea of global citizenship has
emerged since the late 1990s as a key strategic principle in higher education.
According to Marisa Mealy Walter G. Stephan (Mealy Stephan, 2010, pp. 476 478), ingtergroup

Core Principles Of An Ideology
Core principles of an ideology allows for the ability to the concepts to be put into use. The ideas
of their core principles give a step by step booklet to ensure that there is a direct course of action

principles are the reasonable for them. For Hitler and the Nazi s such way of thought when
making sure they could effectively carry out their plans. The core principles of the Nazi s would

completely eliminate them. In a way if not for the core principles of ideology it would have
been impossible for Hitler and Nazi forces to being able to commit such crimes against the
Jewish people. In order to allow of Hitler and the Nazi s to put an effective ideology together to
use against the Jews they would need an opportunity to take control of Germany. World War I and

With the rapid development of the society, a large number of factories are built to meet the demand

Meanwhile, Flint is in uneven development situation and need to rebuild the infrastructure system.

The harmfulness of environmental racism exists in the relationship between community residents

Typically, the muscle weakness will affect a limb, and nasal or slurred speech will soon develop.
If the patient is limb onset ALS, the symptoms will first occur in the arms and legs. They may
have difficulty with dexterous tasks such as writing or opening a door. If the lower limbs are
affected, they may notice trouble walking and experience tripping or stumbling. Dropped foot, as
demonstrated in the above case study, can also develop from muscle weakness and can cause the
individual to drag his or her foot. Limb onset ALS is more typical than all other types, occurring in
about 75% of diagnosed individuals. The other 25% may present symptoms described as bulbar
onset ALS. These patients may first notice difficulty with proper speech and swallowing. Patients
will often lose their voice and have difficulty forming words, caused by a loss of tongue mobility. In
rare cases, patients might demonstrate respiratory onset ALS where the intercostal muscles are

Essay about Ronald Dworkins Liberal Morality
Dworkin begins by roughly defining liberalism according to the New Deal: It combined an
emphasis on less inequality and greater economic stability with more abundant political and civil
liberty for the groups campaigning for these goals. Dworkin states that such a definition is
inadequate and goes on to elaborate on liberalism in more depth. The liberal, in economic policies,
demands that the inequalities of wealth be reduced through social programs such as welfare and
other redistributionfinanced by a progressive tax. Liberals also take a Keynesian policy toward the
governments stabilizing intervention in the economy, such as controlling inflation and
unemployment. And liberals support freedom of speech, racial equality and are... Show more

The conservative protects the commodity of liberty, valued for its own sake, more effectively than
the liberal. But unlike liberty, equality is a concept that can be shown, and because of this, it can be
stated that conservatives do in fact favor equality less and liberals more.
Two concepts of equality must be distinguished according to Dworkin: the first is that the
government should treat all its citizens, or all those that are in its charge as equals, and the second
principle of equality requires that the government treat all of those in its charge equally in the

idea of equality. The conservative feels that, treating citizens as equals, as the liberals see equality,
would amount to treating the citizens in fact as unequal. The most efficient means of helping the

But then what does it mean for the government to treat its citizens as equals? The first supposes that
government must be neutral on what might be called the good life, and the second one supposes
that government cannot treat its citizens as equal human beings without a theory of what human

For instance, Southwest Airlines believe that the payment in salary would bring the workers to

attention to the workers and keep them content/satisfied as well.
Southwest Airlines felt as if the workers who actually went out of their way to aid customers, did

Dangers of the Internet Essay
Dangers of the Internet
There are many pitfalls and perils on the Internet. Some of them are easy to avoid while other are
not so obvious. Some of the Pitfalls and perils are annoying, while others are deadly to your
computer. Still others are humorous and entertaining. There are many dangers on the Internet. This
paper will try to cover some of them.
The biggest dangers of the Internet are virus. Viruses are small programs that infect computers.
Most viruses are made to steal and or destroy data stored on the infected computer. Viruses, that

Classical Period Research Paper
During the Classical period, it was common for music to be louder, faster and not written for the
church like it had been written in the Baroque or Renaissance period. Instead of the music being
performed in churches, it was performed in concert halls or in the palace. Some of the most
recognizable artists during that time were Mozart, Beethoven, and Hayden. A lesser known artist,
Muzio Clementi, an Italian born pianist, who was alive during 1752 to 1832 and lived most of
this life in England during the Classical period. Even though, his music was not as successful as
some of the other artists of this time such as Mozart, he was considered the the father of the piano.

We can relate some of Beethoven s symphonies that we learned about in class like symphony
number five to Muzio s symphonies because they both consisted of four movements and were
both written in an allegro form. The instruments that were used in the two symphonies are
similar; they both use string instruments like violins and cellos and percussion instruments.
Usually, symphonies consist of string, brass, percussion, and woodwind instruments, but do not
have to use every instrument that is in those categorizes they just use a few or none at all for
each. They also do not just use one violin or one flute there is usually a couple of each
instrument so that there can be variety of sounds. For instance, if the piece calls for a certain
instrument to be played multiple ways then they would use more than one of those instruments,
so that all the pressure would not be placed on one performer. For the Great National, Clementi
used a variety of instruments that would be typically used such as violins, the piano, and
trombones. We also learned about absolute music which is music that does not have a written
story to it like most modern songs do today that have lyrics to it, but in absolute music its more
about the instruments and the music itself. Clementi s symphony is considered to be absolute
music because there are no words and does not make up a story, the music itself coveys a power
story. It was their intent that the music would be able to be strong by itself to create a sort of
story that did not need words to convey a powerful message. That is similar to anyone s
symphonies like Hayden s or Mozart s that we studied in

The Migration From Magnetic Stripe And The Europay...
The migration from magnetic stripe to the Europay MasterCard Visa (EMV) chip standard
promises enhanced credit card security, and the opportunity to offer loyalty and reward
programs to cardholders (Peterson, 2004). EMV chips are finally gaining a strong momentum in
the United States banking system. The promise of enhanced security and benefits is a hit with
banks and consumers alike. The United States is very late to the game though; Europe and Asia
have implemented the EMV technology since the early 2000s. Within Asia Pacific, Visa has
issued more than 20 million Visa EMV cards, and globally this figure is in excess of 100
million. Since January 2003, every new point of sale terminal deployed in the region is required
to be EMV compliant. By 2008, we expect over 90 per cent of all terminals to be EMV enabled
(Peterson, 2004). Credit unions and banks have finally begun rolling out the EMV chip enabled
debit cards to customers. The adoption percentage will hit the low 70s, far lower than countries
that have had the technology already. A low adoption percentage of EMV shows how the current
banking system is slow to adapt to change. If the banking system wants to be current and keep
cost low they need to start embracing new technology as soon as it becomes available. The issue
banks/credit unions will face is; any fraud that occurs on customer s accounts with debit cardwill be
their responsibility. Our current banking system needs to adopt the new EMV technology faster,

Analysis Of Bureaucracy By James Wilson
In Bureaucracy, James Wilson examines government agencies in comparison to the private sector.
The portion we read is centered around both the individual (operator) and the organization as a
whole. The idea that bureaucracies are inefficient based solely on red tape is discredited with this
piece. There is no simple solution to improving the bureaucracy. Finally, Wilson demonstrates that a
great deal of variables and ideas contribute to bureaucratic inefficiency.
Wilson s discussion began with the conditions that influence an operator s behavior. Operators can
be thought of as the front line workers of the bureaucracy. An example would be a police officer or
a teacher (Wilson, 33). Rather than the incentives at work in an organization, ... Show more content

If the penalties outweigh the rewards for expressing a certain behavior, in most cases individuals
will not express that behavior (54). In addition, jobs which are weakly defined (lacking clear rules
or incentives for enforcing the rules) will allow an individual to be influenced by their attitudes or
beliefs (55).
An individual s prior experiences can influence an organization. This is most common when
organizations are first developed or created. As most organization are created out of pieces of
previous ones, individuals bring with them prior experiences which help shape the mission, and
goals of an organization (55). Professional norms also impact the actions of an organizations. While
it can be very difficult to change an organization from the outside, individuals from a certain
background can be hired to impact the organization from within. The author provides the example
of the NHTSA. When administrators wished to implement more requirements for driver safety,
more crash engineers were hired to change the internal viewpoint of the organization which led to
increased vehicle safety requirements (62). A third individual attitude which can affect an
organization is political ideology. Similar to previous experiences, political ideology is most likely
to influence an organization at its creation. This is due to the fact that partisan legislatures usually
appoint partisan individuals to start an organization (67). This is

What it evolved into wasn t a second battle of Sidney Street as the Daily Mail claims because
Craig was the only one shooting, until a police officer fired three warning shots into the air.
Leaving out bits of information such as how Craig jumped from the building after shooting the
police officer stops people from feeling sorry for the bandits and making up excuses for them like
saying that if he jumped he can t have meant it.
By writing about the gangsters as if they were shooting at everyone and not just to scare the police
away, the media have created an interesting story that people will want to read and find out how the

Stalin authorized the covert operation but did not interfere with the details. Part of the reason for its
success was due to this unified command. Stalin, in contrast to Hitler during this period, listened to
reasoned arguments. He surrounded himself with a small group of competent advisors, listened to
the advice of field commanders and usually accepted it. The Red Army strategically out
maneuvered and virtually annihilated the Axis force during the operation but they were also helped
by excessive German ambitions and in cohesive military strategies.
Hitler concentrated too much of his military strength on Stalingrad. The capture and destruction of
the city was of more symbolic value than strategic advantage. The military high command was in
disarray due to a combination of disagreements and dismissals. Hitler frequently interfered in
detailed operations overriding the decisions of his military commanders. This caused confusion
throughout the chain of command and resulted in a distinct lack of unity. One consequence was
the existence a long and vulnerable flank along the Don River manned by troops from Hungary,
Italy and Romania. These troops lacked motivation and were left ill equipped, making the task of
the Red Army an easier one. It is interesting to speculate that had Hitler kept out of military

morphologic characteristics and kinetic features of malignant and benign lesions caused improper
classifications. In an attempt to increase diagnostic efficacy, mainly the specificity of breast MR,

included 25 patients without restricted diffusion
(74%) and G.II. Included 9 patients with restricted diffusion
(26%). The mean ADC value was significantly lower
(0.5 0.9 10_3 mm2/s) for malignant lesion in comparison with that of benign lesions (1.7 2.7 10_3
mm2/s).
Out of 10 patients with malignant lesion of our study 6 patients showed restricted diffusion and out
of 21 patients with benign breast lesions 19 patients showed non restricted diffusion.
In our study we found significant difference between
ADC values of malignant and benign breast lesions, assuming a threshold of 1.2 10_3 mm2/s.
Similarly an 2014 by Nogeria et al. (23) study, proved DWI with complementary ADC values to be
useful for the detection and characterization of breast lesion where mean ADCs of 1.99 В± 0.27
10_3 mm2/s,
1.08В± 0.25 10_3 mm2/s, and 1.74В± 0.35 10_3 mm2/s, were obtained for normal tissue,
malignant, and benign lesion respectively. Our study reported a raised specificity from 81% to
90.5% and a slightly improved PPV from 75% to 77.8% after combining DWI to DCE MRI
without any improvement in sensitivity (53.8%). NPV was 76% and accuracy was 76.5%.
These results agreed with Kul et al. (19) who reported an improved specificity (86.5%), sensitivity
(91.5%), PPV
(89.6%), NPV (88.9%) and accuracy (89.3%). An older study by Sonmez (24) shared nearly the
same results.

Trans Fat
There are two types of trans fats found in food: natural and artificial. Natural trans fat are
produced in the guts of some animal or found in food obtained from those animal such as milk
and meat produce (American Heart Association, 2015). On the other hand, artificial trans fat are
introduced in food through the partial hydrogenation of vegetable oil resulting in a semi solid or
solid fat found in margarine and shortening. (American Heart Association, 2015). Many food
manufacturing companies use artificial trans fat because they are inexpensive, it makes the food
last longer, have better texture and gives food desirable taste (U.S. Food Drug Administration,
2015). This hardened oil are used in making pies, cakes, ready to use frosting, fried food like
donuts and dough The use of trans fat began in 1911 when a German scientist named Wilhelm
Normall added hydrogen to cotton seed oil. It was originally intended for soap but when he
noticed it looked lad, he sold it as Crisco, a brand that sells shortening... Show more content on

This increases a person chance of stroke, and cardiovascular disease, such as Coronary Heart
disease, and myocardial infarction (Robert et al., 2007). Additionally, trans fat increases risk of
developing type 2 diabetics by increasing insulin sensitivity; A study on 80,000 women who
consumes most trans fat shows they had 40% higher risk of getting diabetics (Leech, 2016).
Trans fat also increase weight gain and abdominal fat just like other consumption of fat (Robert
et al., 2007). The objective of this paper is to report the amount of PHF consumed by an average
person for one week, to study the prevalence of PHF in food labels in a super market and the
names used for PHF by food processing industry. The purpose of this study is to show the
implication of PHF food on personal health in the long

Imperialism Annexation
Research Question: To what extent was the annexation of the Philippines a violation of the Teller
Amendment in 1898?
Motives for Imperialism
The conquest of Africa began in 1881 when the king of Belgium sent Henry Morton Stanley to
obtain treaties with the local chiefs to create an imperialized colony triggering various European
nations to follow in the same footsteps.
In the Berlin Conference, the major European nations organized a meeting to split the Africa into
colonies amoungst themselves for economic and political purposes and United States saw
themselves falling behind the imperialist era.
Controversy struck over deciding the status of the Philippines since imperialism could possibly
open doors for new markets and trade possibilities benefiting the economy.
America s Reasons for the Annexation of the Philippines
The U.S. government were stumped with questions on deciding if the Philippines Islands should
be seized or only take the port of Manila as military base leading to major debates of the situation.
According to McKinley, Filipinos were unfit for self government and they would eventually lead
into anarchy and misrule resulting the development of the peace treaty to seize the islands.
McKinley believed the Filipinos needed to be educated and uplifted meaning they needed to be
Christianized which McKinley used as an excuse to annex the Philippines.
Suggestions rose to give back the island to Spain or give it to one of the imperial powers but

The Humane Association At An Animal Shelter
Bitterroot Humane Association

Research Paper
Imagine being a staff member or a volunteer at an animal shelter. Imagine watching day in and day
out as animals passed through your doors, the unmistakeable scent of desolation and grief filling
the room like a tidal wave. Imagine standing in front of the donation jar, counting the measly
offerings, and hoping they added up to at least five dollars. Ravalli County should do more to
encourage adoption of impounded animals, and supply more resources for, the Bitterroot Humane
Association. The BItterroot Humane Association is our local pound that takes in lost, abandoned,
abused, or unwanted companions. They provide pet owners with an outlet should they ever not be
able to take care of their animals. Then, these pets are placed back into loving homes, making
everyone happy. With a limited budget, they have to care for many, many animals. The Bitterroot
Humane Association does not give animals a time limit for being put down. Some shelters in
Missoula, for example, euthanize their residents if they do not find homes soon enough. Many
animals at the kill shelters are very loving and sweet, and deserve a little more time to adjust. At no
kill shelters, such as the Bitterroot Humane Association, they are not put down. Several of the dogs
and cats have been there for a long time, which is definitely hard on them. Finally, the humane
association also helps other animals in

The Importance Of Animal Dissection In The Classroom
Anna Phillips
Professor Mathews
ENGL 1302.P02
10 Sept. 2017
Should Classroom Animal Dissection be Mandatory? Animal dissection is very common in
classrooms and although having hands on experience exploring the anatomy of animals, I want to
look at the bigger picture on this spectrum. Back in high school my favorite part about science class
was defiantly the dissection lesson. I was that one kid who was most excited to make the first cut
into whatever organism we were dissecting that day. I enjoyed learning about different animals
and how their bodies worked. Not once though did I think what I was doing was inhumane or
unnecessary. I m very interested in this issue because I think it is a controversy not really brought
about. Animal dissection in classrooms is a significant topic to discus and should be well
educated to the public in a exposing way. Because I see both sides to this issue along with the little
knowledge I have about this topic, I have yet been able to reach a satisfactory answer. First, I
viewed the supporting argument to get a stronger understanding on why classroom dissection
should be mandatory. The supporters explain how active dissection is the best for students to learn
the anatomy and function of an animal. A recent article published by Infobase says, Actual
dissection is important to science education because it provides students with critical first hand
insight into how organisms function ( Animal Dissection ). As I was reading the supporters in
this article I came to a conclusion that dissection seems to be less confusing when it s right in
front of you. Although this may be true, physical models or computer simulators could be just as
good as alternative means. I skimmed over the opponent s argument to examine the opposing
position. Animal dissection can be looked at as an unethical practice to so many people. The
article then goes on to say, A number of students say they oppose dissection because they have
pets at home ( Animal Dissection ). Fist off people say dissection is unethical and shows a callous
disregard for life ( Animal Dissection ). I noticed in this section of the article I was reading, the
writer focused on the student s emotions towards the animal

The Fall Of The Samurai Analysis
Analysis.
End of Isolationism
One of the most important factors that contributed to the fall of the samurai during the Meiji
restoration was the influx of trade and commerce in Japan at the end of isolationism. The decision
to emphasize trade and commerce during this time period was made by the Japanese government,
the bakufu. However, it marked a weakness that would lead to the downfall of the government and
many high officials, which in turn affected the samurai greatly. During the beginning of the
Tokugawa or Edo period, the Japanese established extreme control over interactions with foreign
neighbors They expelled the Spaniards in 1624, the Portuguese in 1638, and after 1640, all
foreign trade had been eliminated except for a small port that was left open for limited trade with
the Chinese and Dutch under extreme supervision (Norman, 13). Moreover, all foreigners were
required to leave the country. The bakufu believed that the expulsion of foreigners would protect
their ability to trade as well as lead to a society that functioned more ... Show more content on

Daimyos, who had previously prospered due to the land they owned and the rice they earned by
farming on these land, became less important and less influential since people were moving
towards cities. Thus, in July 1869, the practice of daimyos were abolished, and in 1871, the land
that they owned was returned to the emperor. This had a huge impact on the lives of the samurai
because the samurai relied on the daimyos as their lords and to earn a living for themselves. They
were the people that the samurai followed, and without them, there would be no one to pay them.
Due to this, many samurai lost their respective jobs due to a lack of a lord, hence causing them to

might be thirsty. CapriSun appeals to the need for nurture which is achieved by children
enjoying their time outside. In the background of this advertisement it shows a large desert like
area. This area has few small trees towards the back of the picture. The trees are desert trees. Up

Tomography Critique
Article Critique #1
Authors of the article Computed Tomography An Increasing Source of Radiation Exposure
commend the diagnostic advantages of computed tomography (CT), but declare there is
evidence and concern of the discipline s overuse in various patient populations, especially
pediatrics. Of the more than 62 million CT scans per year, almost 16% of these exams are
performed on children (David Hall, 2007, para. 1). The article s title and abstract clearly pinpoint
the dilemma. With the rising number of CT procedures, the authors cause for concern is three fold:
radiation doses received by the patient, cancer risks tied to ionizing radiation exposure and potential
for latent effects in the general public (David Hall, 2007). Unfortunately, the article s abstract is
lacking as it did not summarize what methodology is utilized or state a conclusion of the author s
findings.
The authors begin defending their stance by providing several reasons for the recent surge of CT
procedures: rapid technological advances, convenience to the patient and cost effectiveness (David
Hall, 2007). The calculated dose a patient receives from a CT procedure is only an estimated
exposure dose. To date, a patient s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and acknowledge that CT is often overused. The authors provide the percentages of CT procedures
performed and study conclusions, but they did not reveal their methodology and instrumentation
approaches. The content in the article is significant, but the authors data collection lacks evidence

Study Abroad Personal Statement
From an early age, I had the desire to give back to my community. This desire was likely instilled
in me by my mother, who as a school teacher, went to great lengths to help her students achieve
academically. To better do this, she created at Tupelo Middle School in Mississippi, the Mermaids
and Argonauts Program, which allowed students to travel on extended schooltrips to locations
where they were able to have hands on experiences at zoos, science labs, colleges, museums, and
more across the country. As her child, I was able to tag along on many of these trips, which fueled
my desire to learn about and interact with my environment. It left me with the great hope that
someday I would be able to have such experiences abroad, in order to better learn about the people
and cultures with which I interact. For this reason, I hope to study abroad this summer in Pachuca,
Mexico.

Addiction Is Not Necessary An Addiction
A study was conducted by Caroline Davis in 2014, in which she suggests, that food addiction, is
not necessary an addiction. Unlike other addictions like tobacco, gambling and drugs, food in
required for the human body to survive, where the other types are a pleasure centre for the brain in
affect, and is not necessary for humanto survive.
An addiction is in which the brain responds to a stimulus, or multiple stimuli, that triggers a respond
to the brain, and releases, dopamine to the person creating a reward system to the user, thus
increasing the mood of the person. Therefore, allowing the brain to learn by teaching it to
respond to increased levels of dopamine, by the stimulus (pp.131). For example, the more a
person gambles and wins, the better they feel. Even so, there is a low point for people that
gamble or takes drugs, but the need for that persons is to increase their chances of winning, or
getting a fix, where they could combine a mix of food, alcohol, drugs and tobacco (pp.131).
Which would make them feel good again, as once again, as dopamine is released into the system.
According to Davis (2014) that food should not be thought of as addictive, as food is essential
for human survival and with a proper diet with all the vitamins and mineral that the body require
humans can live a healthy life (pp. 129). But even so food can be addictive as the process foods
have many compounds added to everyday foods that rewards the brain for eating it, therefore, a
person will

  • 2. Assess The Impact Of Transnational Cinema Being an island nation makes us a trading nation, which is an obvious connection between borders. How we trade with each other allows for transnational cinema to be present and is the basis for an understanding, which connects people across geographical borders. Following the recent European referendum it is relevant to mention how this will affect the UK s filmindustry regarding trade. The MEDIA Scheme/Creative Europefunding will be stopped, co productions with different countries will be harder to achieve in the short term, British/European co productions may need new legislation, and fewer UK films will be shown in European cinemas as well as many other negative outcomes (Follows, 2016). However this shows how much transnationalism affects UK trade, company distribution and future films success as well as the impact which politics has upon the film industry. This shows how not only cast/crewmembers nationalities, the location and the storyline matters in transnational cinema, but the trade and distribution after the film is made all enhance the transnationality of the piece. Interestingly, it seems when discussing terrorism in cinema, filmmakers more often than not make films about terrorism that has happened in their own country. Hollywood cinema noticeably has an absence of terrorism, whereas European films in contrast have far more. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Keynes’s Analysis of the Stock Market and Identifying the... Keynes s analysis in Chapter 12 of the General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money suggests that capitalism is inherently unstable due to its financial structure . Discuss outlining Keynes s analysis of the stock market and identifying the related policy conclusions he reaches. In Chapter 12 of the General Theory of Employment, John Maynard Keynes focused on examining the stock market and how it functions, in the sense of its structure and how it is affected by the behavior of investors because he believed the behavior of the stock market affects the aggregate demand, hence the rest of the economic system. He is most interested in the fluctuations of the rates of investments in the stock market that consequently affect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Keynes (1936, p155 56) describes the stock market using an analogy between professional investment and newspaper beauty contest: Professional investment may be likened to those newspaper competitions in which the competitors have to pick out the six prettiest faces from a hundred photographs, the prize being awarded to the competitor whose choice most nearly corresponds to the average preferences of the competitors as a whole...It is not a case of choosing those which, to the best of one s judgment, are really the prettiest, nor even those which average opinion genuinely thinks the prettiest. We have reached the third degree where we devote our intelligence to anticipating what average opinion expects the average opinion to be. And there are some, I believe, who practice the fourth, fifth, and higher degrees. The Stock Market decisions work based on conventional values too, where each is not concerned with determining the real stock value, but the market value the community will place on the stock, before everyone else does. Keynes observes some other features of this situation within the stock market. This type of liquidity not only leads to future fluctuations in physical asset investment, but also creates fluctuations of the daily profit on investments which further influences the market. One of the key themes Keynes observes is that there is plenty of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Pros And Cons Of Senior Care Texas And Companionship Senior Care Texas and Companionship As we age, there are many positive events that happen in our lives. We get to witness the marriage of our children, the birth of our grandchildren or great grandchildren, and hopefully enjoy the fruits of our labor during retirement. There are some negative parts to aging as well. Friends and family pass on or move away, the excitement of the workforce is replaced with endless numbers of unscheduled days, and even your closest allies, such as a spouse, may move on in divorce or death. The result of these changes, despite the many positives, is loneliness. According to studies by the University of California at San Francisco, nearly half of seniors report having regular feelings of loneliness. Surprisingly, half of those seniors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The University of Rochester Medical Center found that social interaction is important for health, and loneliness leads to medical problems. One study found fewer colds, lower blood pressure, and lower heart rates in seniors with strong social ties. Statistics show that marriage, perhaps the strongest tie, adds years to life expectancy. And suicide, mental illness and alcoholism rates are much lower when people feel a sense of belonging. Studies at UC San Francisco support the Rochester findings. They found that seniors over 60 who experience prolonged bouts of loneliness have a 45 percent increase in their risk of death. They were also nearly 60 percent more likely to have mental and physical problems develop as a result of the loneliness. Supporting the idea that more people does not necessarily resolve loneliness, Dr. T. Byram Karasu Albert Einstein College of Medicine s chair of psychiatry and behavioral sciences found that Even when they re being taken care of by family caregivers, there is often little attention paid to deep, engaging communication between a senior and the rest of the family. The result is a feeling of being pushed aside and chronic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Visual Imagery In Homer s Odyssey In this passage, Odysseus resists the urge to comfort his grieving wife, which would have caused him to give away his cover. He knows that in time he would be reunited with his wife. However, he is still deeply moved by his wife s expression of love for him. As the disguised Odysseus describes to Penelope his encounters with Odysseusin Crete, she breaks down into tears, sobbing emotionally. Homer s use of visual imagery and poetic language adds color to his work, bringing the text to life. As she listened on, her tears flowed and soaked her cheeks as the heavy snow melts down from the high mountain ridges, snow the West Wind piles there and the warm East Wind thaws and the snow, melting, swells the rivers to overflow their banks so she dissolved in tears, streaming down her lovely cheeks, weeping for him, her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Odysseus s heart went out to his grief stricken wife but under his lids his eyes remained stock still they might have been horn or iron his guile fought back tears (XIX.236 245). Homer displays visual imagery by using the words flowed and soaked. In one s mind, this creates an image of Penelope s tears running, like a river of endless sorrow, and drowning her cheeks in them. Homer then proceeds to use the simile of comparing her tears to the heavy snow that melts and comes pouring down from the highest peaks, piled there by the West Wind. By the use of the word heavy, it pictures Penelope as bursting with tears, streams running down her face. In addition, by saying that, the warm East Wind thaws and the snow, melting, swells the rivers to overflow, Homer provides us with more kinesthetic imagery, as you can feel as well as see Penelope s sorrow. Her father being away from her has emotionally affected her negatively and if he does not get out of depression, could emotionally damage her for a long time. In Third Bank of the River JoГЈo GuimarГЈes Rosa writes I was deeply distressed and felt the need to do something more. (Page 357). In the story, the Father leaves the son as he goes on river with his boat and stays away from civilization. He stays like that for the most of his son s life and that sentence demonstrates that his son has been affected by his father s absence which can lead to future consequences. In the story Third bank of the River JoГЈo GuimarГЈes Rosa also writes No, we could never put father out of our mind. (358). So if the son can never forget his father, then he will never forget how his father left him like he did. Design thinking, originated from basic practices of designers, is a series of activities and attitudes toward bringing innovation [3][26]. This idea does not claim a necessity of being a designer, but designers may have a high potential to be an innovator in a various occasion. In fact, recent management studies discovered that industrial designers contribute to innovative scientific research in the natural science field [5][29]. • 9. Analysis Of The Book The Scarlet Letter As I began my summer reading assignment I wasn t too amused at the beginning chapters of the Scarlet Letter, With Hawthorne throwing around words like quietude I wasn t sure if it was truly the difference in his old English speech, or if he was tossing in obscure words just to send people looking through their dictionaries to find out if he had, in fact, made the word up, or not. But, as I delved deeper into Hawthorn s work I found a brilliant story with some of the richest characters I had ever had the pleasure of reading about. Of the four major characters in the book, I empathized with Arthur Dimmesdale the most. Dimmesdale is man of God imprisoned by his own beliefs, and because of this he lives his life wallowing in guilt, despair, and pain. Dimmesdale wants to be a father to Pearl, but to do so it would jeopardize his social standing in the Puritan culture and his career. In his confliction, Dimmesdale feels that he should punish himself; he takes away what little humanity he has left just so he can feel he has appeased God. I can t help but feel sorry for a man who lives in such a heartbreaking pool of despair and self loathing. Where Dimmesdale s character really shines, though, is in the Election Day sermon scene and the scenes leading up to the Election Day sermon. After leaving the forest Dimmesdale is filled with new life and motivation. He now has purpose, something to live for. Later, in the third scaffold scene, Dimmesdale ... Reflecting On Personal Identity And Global Citizenship Essay Running Head: GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP1 Reflecting on Personal Identity and Global Citizenship Christopher Shattah GEN499: General Education Capstone Stephen Carter May 1, 2016 GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP2 Reflecting on Personal Identity and Global Citizenship The importance of educating others on global citizenship is a very important factor to consider when it comes to human rights for all. This type of subject is an important subject, especially when it comes to educating others on global citizenship. Each and every individual should be educated on global citizenship in a such way to bring about a world of greater justice. Global citizenship is a voluntary association with a concept that signifies ways of thinking and living within multiple cross cutting communities cities, regions, states, nations, and international collectives. This is all due to the practice of global citizenship. The liberal, in economic policies, demands that the inequalities of wealth be reduced through social programs such as welfare and other redistributionfinanced by a progressive tax. But unlike liberty, equality is a concept that can be shown, and because of this, it can be stated that conservatives do in fact favor equality less and liberals more. Two concepts of equality must be distinguished according to Dworkin: the first is that the government should treat all its citizens, or all those that are in its charge as equals, and the second principle of equality requires that the government treat all of those in its charge equally in the distribution of some resource of opportunity. Liberals sense of equality will fall more into the latter idea of equality. The conservative feels that, treating citizens as equals, as the liberals see equality, would amount to treating the citizens in fact as unequal. The most efficient means of helping the least well off in fact is the free market, and not the government s redistribution of wealth. But then what does it mean for the government to treat its citizens as equals? The portion we read is centered around both the individual (operator) and the organization as a whole. The idea that bureaucracies are inefficient based solely on red tape is discredited with this piece. There is no simple solution to improving the bureaucracy. Finally, Wilson demonstrates that a great deal of variables and ideas contribute to bureaucratic inefficiency. Wilson s discussion began with the conditions that influence an operator s behavior. Operators can be thought of as the front line workers of the bureaucracy. An example would be a police officer or a teacher (Wilson, 33). Rather than the incentives at work in an organization, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the penalties outweigh the rewards for expressing a certain behavior, in most cases individuals will not express that behavior (54). In addition, jobs which are weakly defined (lacking clear rules or incentives for enforcing the rules) will allow an individual to be influenced by their attitudes or beliefs (55). An individual s prior experiences can influence an organization. This is most common when organizations are first developed or created. As most organization are created out of pieces of previous ones, individuals bring with them prior experiences which help shape the mission, and goals of an organization (55). Professional norms also impact the actions of an organizations. While it can be very difficult to change an organization from the outside, individuals from a certain background can be hired to impact the organization from within. The author provides the example of the NHTSA. When administrators wished to implement more requirements for driver safety, more crash engineers were hired to change the internal viewpoint of the organization which led to increased vehicle safety requirements (62). A third individual attitude which can affect an organization is political ideology. Similar to previous experiences, political ideology is most likely to influence an organization at its creation. This is due to the fact that partisan legislatures usually appoint partisan individuals to start an organization (67). This is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Red Army strategically out maneuvered and virtually annihilated the Axis force during the operation but they were also helped by excessive German ambitions and in cohesive military strategies. Hitler concentrated too much of his military strength on Stalingrad. The capture and destruction of the city was of more symbolic value than strategic advantage. The military high command was in disarray due to a combination of disagreements and dismissals. Hitler frequently interfered in detailed operations overriding the decisions of his military commanders. This caused confusion throughout the chain of command and resulted in a distinct lack of unity. One consequence was the existence a long and vulnerable flank along the Don River manned by troops from Hungary, Italy and Romania. • 44. The Importance Of Animal Dissection In The Classroom Anna Phillips Professor Mathews ENGL 1302.P02 10 Sept. 2017 Should Classroom Animal Dissection be Mandatory? Animal dissection is very common in classrooms and although having hands on experience exploring the anatomy of animals, I want to look at the bigger picture on this spectrum. Back in high school my favorite part about science class was defiantly the dissection lesson. I was that one kid who was most excited to make the first cut into whatever organism we were dissecting that day. I enjoyed learning about different animals and how their bodies worked. Not once though did I think what I was doing was inhumane or unnecessary. I m very interested in this issue because I think it is a controversy not really brought about. Animal dissection in classrooms is a significant topic to discus and should be well educated to the public in a exposing way. Because I see both sides to this issue along with the little knowledge I have about this topic, I have yet been able to reach a satisfactory answer. First, I viewed the supporting argument to get a stronger understanding on why classroom dissection should be mandatory. The supporters explain how active dissection is the best for students to learn the anatomy and function of an animal. A recent article published by Infobase says, Actual dissection is important to science education because it provides students with critical first hand insight into how organisms function ( Animal Dissection ). As I was reading the supporters in this article I came to a conclusion that dissection seems to be less confusing when it s right in front of you. Although this may be true, physical models or computer simulators could be just as good as alternative means. I skimmed over the opponent s argument to examine the opposing position. Animal dissection can be looked at as an unethical practice to so many people. The article then goes on to say, A number of students say they oppose dissection because they have pets at home ( Animal Dissection ). Fist off people say dissection is unethical and shows a callous disregard for life ( Animal Dissection ). The decision to emphasize trade and commerce during this time period was made by the Japanese government, the bakufu. However, it marked a weakness that would lead to the downfall of the government and many high officials, which in turn affected the samurai greatly. During the beginning of the Tokugawa or Edo period, the Japanese established extreme control over interactions with foreign neighbors They expelled the Spaniards in 1624, the Portuguese in 1638, and after 1640, all foreign trade had been eliminated except for a small port that was left open for limited trade with the Chinese and Dutch under extreme supervision (Norman, 13). Unlike other addictions like tobacco, gambling and drugs, food in required for the human body to survive, where the other types are a pleasure centre for the brain in affect, and is not necessary for humanto survive. An addiction is in which the brain responds to a stimulus, or multiple stimuli, that triggers a respond to the brain, and releases, dopamine to the person creating a reward system to the user, thus increasing the mood of the person. Which would make them feel good again, as once again, as dopamine is released into the system. According to Davis (2014) that food should not be thought of as addictive, as food is essential for human survival and with a proper diet with all the vitamins and mineral that the body require humans can live a healthy life (pp. 129).
