Developing A Strong Classroom Management Style
There are many factors that affects a student s ability to learn and achieve. Classroom management
plays a major role in the effectiveness of education and paves the way for the teacher to engage
students in learning. Classroom management creates a set of expectations, routines, rules, and
consequences. Through my experience at Olson Elementary, I have had the privilege of observing Ms.
Mason, her students, and how she addresses classroom management. Every teacher has their own
approach on classroom management, but essentially instills and models and principles of instills the
goals and structure that meet the needs of their students.
A key factor in developing a strong classroom management style is having engaging instruction. Ms.
Mason creates a motivating environment by using a variety of teaching methods and tools. She uses a
document camera and projector to display teaching lessons to the class. She does assignments with the
students, which engages the students and allows them to move at a pace that better suits them. She
also incorporates the use of videos, current events, and different activity stations. She also has a
compelling nature about her when speaks and interacts with her students; she is animated, sincere, and
captivating. In my future classroom I would also use different teaching methods because students have
different learning styles. I would incorporate more kinesthetic and hands on learning activities. I
would want to emphasize Ron Clark s approach

Operation Overlord Essays
Operation Overlord On June 6, 1944 the largest amphibious assault in history took place. On the
morning of the Invasion of Normandy, beaches in the area of Cotentin, France, were bombarded with
over 5,000 tons of bombs, destroying German defenses and de mining many areas. Following the
bombardment over 100,000 soldiers swam ashore, and 11,700 paratroopers were dropped to secure
Normandy Beach. After two months of battle, Allied troops marched into Normandy on August 24th,
1944. The Invasion of Normandy not only was the turning point of the World War II, but also directly
led to the liberation of Western Europe from the Nazi regime. Deception of the Germans was an
important factor in the preparations for D Day. Although the actual attack ... Show more content on

This work practically destroyed the French transportation system, removing the Germans ability to
send reinforcements for the attack. The night before D Day, three airborne units, the 101st and 82nd
American Airborne Divisions and the 6th British Airborne Division were meant to be deployed to
areas south of the beach. Their mission was to clear the way for the troops by eliminating various
obstacles. However, due to the weather the mission was not fully successful. The 82nd, to be dropped
near the town of Sainte Mère Eglise, were scattered throughout the countryside. The 101st s mission
was to drop south of Utah Beach to secure roads and bridges at Carentan. Unfortunately, many of the
paratroopers were dropped into the water and drowned. However, the troops were able to regroup to
complete most of their objectives, thanks to the efforts of the French Resistance. Because the
Resistance had cut phone lines, the German chain of command was disrupted, and they could not get a
firm hold on the battle. At 7:00 am, the time appointed as H Hour, the amphibious invasion began. The
bombardment was to end and the invasions begin at the same time. The bombers finished on time, but
the landing equipment ran late, giving the Germans a little bit of time to prepare for the invasion. Juno
beach was invaded by the Canadian 3rd Infantry and their success there is a matter of great Canadian
national pride.

The Five States of Chronic Kidney Disease
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a long term condition characterized by presence of kidney damage
or a decrease of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) less than 60ml/min/1.73m2 for 3 months or longer
periods (Levey, Bosch, Lewis, 1999). Kidney disease always being neglected as it was asymptomatic
in the early stage. Chronic kidney disease was divided into 5 stages and according to its severity. The
staging system is based on the estimated GFR and remaining kidney function. In each stages of
chronic kidney disease, there is certain medical action and investigation need to be carry out to
monitor the progression of disease. Medical practitioners can use this as basis guidelines to monitor
the deterioration of kidney disease. Patient will increase severity of uremic and suffer from clinical
manifestations of azotemia when GFR drop to less than 25% of normal (Schrier, 2010). When GFR
drop to less than 15ml Stage 5 CKD patient need to be undergo renal replacement therapy, either
dialysis or renal transplant in order to avoid complication such as uremic and fluid overload.
Whenever there is an injury occurs to the kidney, reduction of nephron number will be result from
compensatory of glomerular haemodynamic changes. The remaining nephron will be undergoing a
process call hypertrophy, with the increase in glomerular blood flow. Intraglomerular pressure and
amount of filtrate formed by each single nephron rise. Angiotensin II being activated and cause the

Case Study On Singapore Airlines
1. INTRODUCTION
The project requires the student to carry out a research, analysis and discussion on how a Singapore
listed company can access to the country s financial system and how it benefits the company in
achieving its business objective. The research will cover the various types of financial services offered
by financial intermediaries whom the corporation can access to.
Singapore Financial System is one of the world s largest financial systems. According to Mishkin
(2009), Financial System refers to a system that consists of the markets and institutional units that
interact for the purpose to provide facilities such as payment and transfer systems and organizing the

And as discussed above, their major clients are people who came from different country and which
mean that SIA is also receiving foreign currencies from their customers. This shows that sometimes
they might experience surplus and also deficit in this area based on the fluctuations in SGD. Foreign
currency transactions are converted into SGD at exchange rates, which follow bank rates prevailing at
dates of transactions. This year they lose $15.3 million because of the effect of the exchange rate
changes.
As can be seen in Singapore Airline Cash Flow Statement, the net cash of SIA operating activities is a
surplus as there is an increase from year 2013/14 to year 2012/13. Even tough their profits before

Anatomical Script of the Squat Technique Essay
Introduction
The squat technique is described as the King of all exercises (Bompa, 2002) as it is an effective
exercise that works a variety of muscles including the gluteals, hamstrings, quadriceps and
abdominals. This report focused on the lower limb muscles only. Understanding different types of
movement is important for sport and exercise to help rehabilitate injuries of athletes. Coaches and
trainers may find understanding the squat a good way to prevent injuries as it is an excellent way to
build the muscles of the lower limbs.
The four main phases of the squat technique are the starting phase, the downward phase, the holding
phase and the upward phase. The aim of this report was to fully understand the squat technique. This

The hamstrings contract eccentrically acting as the synergist and help the flexion of the hip to occur.
The Rectus femoris of the quadriceps contract eccentrically to help flex the hip, they are co
contracting with the hamstrings. The hip flexors may contract rapidly to stabalise the body on the way
down if there is a loss of balance (Wynsberghe et al., 1995). The adductor longus, adductor brevis and
adductor Magnus contract isometrically to prevent adduction and abduction. The Sartorius muscle
contracts eccentrically to cause flexion and abduction at the knee. The sartoris originates from the
anterior superior iliac spine and inserts onto the tibia. The adductor and abductor muscles at the hip
joint contract to prevent movement that may cause injury (Tortora and Derrickson, 2009).
Knee
On the downward phase flexion occurs at the knee, stopping at about 90 °. Both quadriceps, acting as
the agonist to flex the knee, and hamstrings, which mainly stabilizes the knee, act as an antagonistic
pair and co contract eccentrically to allow flexion. The hamstring is also acting as the synergist for the
hip joint (Tortora and Derrickson, 2009). The Sartorius acts as the synergist and also contracts
eccentrically to cause flexion at the knee (Wynsberghe et al., 1995).
Ankle
On the downward phase dorsiflexion occurs at the ankle, the tibialis anterior acts as the synergist in
this movement and contracts concentrically (Seeley et al., 2003). The extensor halluces

Kant Ethical Theory
B. The categorical imperative is the foundation of morality. Do you agree? Discuss with reference to

Ans; The categorical imperative has two important formulations .The formulation from universal law
of nature .It states that act only in accordance with that maxim through which you can at the same

The Effects of Antibiotics on Bacterial Growth
The Effects of Antibiotics on Bacterial Growth
Biology II 1996
Bacteria are the most common and ancient microorganisms on earth. Most bacteria are microscopic,
measuring 1 micron in length. However, colonies of bacteria grown in a laboratory petri dish can be
seen with the unaided eye.
There are many divisions and classifications of bacteria that assist in identifying them. The first two
types of bacteria are archaebacteria and eubacteria. Both groups have common ancestors dating to
more than 3 billion years ago. Archaebacteria live in environments where, because of the high
temperature, no other life can grow. These environments include hot springs and areas of volcanic
activity. They contain lipids but lack certain chemicals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This antibiotic acts by limiting normal protein synthesis.
Streptomycin is effective against E. Coli, gram negative bacilli, as well as many cocci.
Neomycin an antibiotic derived from a strain of Streptomyces fradiae.
Neomycin effectively destroys a wide range of bacteria.
Kanamycin an antibiotic substance derived from Streptomyces kanamycetius. Its antibacterial action
is very similar to that of neomycin. Kanamycin works against many aerobic gram positive and gram
negative bacteria, especially E. coli. Protracted use may result in auditory as well as other damages.
Erythromycin is an antibiotic produced by a strain of Streptomyces erythreaus. This antibiotic works
by inhibiting protein synthesis but not nucleic synthesis. Erythromycin has inhibitory effects on gram
negative cocci as well as some gram positive bacteria.
Chloramphenicol is a clinically useful antibiotic in combating serious infections caused by certain
bacteria in place of potentially hazardous means of solving the problem. In lab tests, it has been shown
that this medicine stopped bacterial reproduction in a wide range of both gram positive and gram
negative bacteria. The inhibition of cell reproduction caused by Chloramphenicol takes place through
interference with protein synthesis.
An experiment was conducted in order to determine which antibiotics are most effective in inhibiting
bacterial growth. First, the different bacteria were placed on agar

Limu Kohu Research Paper
Asparagopsis taxiformis or limu kohu is a highly valued m¬¬arine red alga found in Hawaiʻi; it
normally grows on reef edges in areas of constant water motion. It was so prized by the Hawaiians for
its peppery flavor that only ali`i (Hawaiian royalty) were allowed to eat it (Abbott 1984; Bolton et al.
2011). It is still considered a favorite and can fetch up to $30 a pound at some markets. The economic
value of limu kohu has made it vulnerable to overharvesting in Hawaii s coastlines. However, the alga
is found throughout the world in tropical marine environments and is regarded as an invasive species
in the Mediterranean and South Africa (Andreakis et al. 2007; Zanolla et al. 2018). The chemistry of

The Chocolate War is a novel about a freshman boy named Jerry Renault going against the normalcy
of school life and deciding not to sell the chocolate bars. Jerry was given this assignment by a boy
named Archie Costello. Archie is a member of The Vigils, a group that makes assignments for a
certain person or group of people to do based on who they are and how they act. The odd thing about
Archie telling Jerry not to sell the chocolates is that Archie earlier told Brother Leon that The Vigils
would support the chocolate selling activity.
Brother Leon and the other students are clearly shocked by this, due to a student never refusing to do
so before. But eventually people realize that it was an assignment given by The Vigils. At first Brother

Archie makes plans to get back at Jerry and get some kind of reward out of all the help he put into the
chocolate sales. He creates an assembly where only students can participate to raffle off the tickets.
The raffle is a special one though which puts Jerry in a fight against the school thug, Emile Janza.
Students who buy raffle tickets get to write a boxing move on them, which Jerry has to do to Janza, or
vice versa, and where to hit them. During the fight, Jerry and Janza are hitting each other as the papers
say to. Janza is a lot stronger, and his punches have much more power even though Jerry is able to
land a few good hits of his own into the fight. A member of The Vigils draws a raffle ticket that says
for Janza to hit Jerry in the groin. Jerry, however, blocks the punch, and the fight becomes more
violent. Janza decides not to follow the rules of the fight, and repeatedly punches Jerry. Finally, once
Jerry falls to the ground, the lights in the stadium turn off. Brother Jacques is there to stop the fight.

Essay Dimensional Fund Advisors Case
Dimensional Fund Advisors Case 1. Describe the investment strategy employed by DFA. Does DFA
consider itself an active or passive manager? What aspects of its strategy are active? What aspects are
passive?
DFA s investment strategy was centered on academic research, specifically on the findings of Banz
size effect and Fama and French s book to market effect. In Banz research, he found that small stocks
consistently outperformed large stocks over the entire history of the stock market from 1926 through
the late 1970s. See Exhibit 1 for overview of growth between large and small cap stocks.
In the Fama amp; French paper, they found that: 1) stocks with high beta did not have consistently
higher returns than low beta stocks; 2) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
DFA s founders believed in two principals (outside of efficient markets): the value of sound academic
research, and the ability of skilled traders to contribute to a fund s profits even when the investment
was inherently passive. By working closely with the academic world, DFA is able to exploit
opportunities generated from academic research before others are able to; this creates opportunities for
short and long term excess return. Also, working in stocks that other mutual funds do not participate
(micro, small cap) allows DFA to exploit opportunities in otherwise illiquid stocks. By having a large
presence in this market, the company is able to take advantage of trading opportunities with
counterparts (liquidity discounts from block purchases).
5. What level of market efficiency does DFA accept? Why this level and not any other?
DFA accepts the semi strong form efficiency of the market. DFA feels that on average the market price
correctly incorporates all public information. Its concern is merely that there is no negative private
information known to the seller but not to the market. If DFA did not have concern of negative
information known by the seller and not the market, the strong form of efficiency would be
appropriate (this version of the efficient market hypothesis is quite extreme).
The semi strong form of efficiency

Freak The Mighty Friendship Quotes
A best friend is someone who you can talk to, who won t judge you, loves you for you, and most of all
makes you feel like you are worth something. Anonymous. This shows that, in the novel Freak the
Mighty, Max and Kevin demonstrated a strong friendship. Likewise, they accepted each other without
judgement and made each other feel like the belonged. In fact, Friendship is important because having
a good friend can help you through hard times.
Many people agree that trust is needed in friendship. One instance, of Freak and Max s trust is when
Tony D attacked them and they ran into the pond. This took a great deal of trust. Freak gave the
directions and without hesitation Max followed the directions. He was able to keep Freak safe.
Another example, of their trust is they are always there for each other. An example of that is, Max was
there for freak at the hospital. Max always wanted to be right by freaks side at the hospital. Which

hospital. Freak guided Max to the hospital which was far away. Freak showed Max where he was
going to get his new body. A lot of their adventures were based on knights and medieval times. Freak
liked to use a lot of the medieval language, which caused him to have a very odd vocabulary. For

Troy University Case Study
Troy University has grown and it needs to be able to sustain that growth. In order to do that it needs to
resolve the issues it encounters along the way, one prominent complaint among the student body and
professors is the need for improvements with the parking availability at the university. I believe the
university will fail the students and faculty by not providing anything and focusing on other areas
instead. The university is focused more on improving the revenue flow than the experience of students
and faculty that provide its revenue.
As the school has grown into what it is today there has not been enough of a focus on providing

The sheer volume of students the university has exceeds the number it can provide housing for, thus
making housing a priority over parking. With a limited budget the issue could take longer to resolve
fully, another issue could be the space required for a lot or garage. Troy University also has a bus
system that helps off campus students with transportation but the times they arrive can vary greatly.
The university is exceeding what it can be expected to support and with that all aspects of student life
can be at risk. Even campus involvement suffering because so many are forced off campus for
housing. If the school were to resolve both issues it could see a happier populace.
The university has options to fix the issue, but will likely neglect the issue as it does not directly
contribute to the university financially instead they will prioritize new dorms and a new recreation
facility. One option that the university could implement is a freshman driving ban, this would likely
add strain on the bus system and demand a rework of it, but the buses are not used by a majority of
students and a rework of it could see demand rise which would be beneficial and maybe even justify
an expansion of it. The university could see backlash in response to such a policy, but campus
involvement would likely improve. This solution would also see the space that the university needs to
expand be available for other projects and not used by massive lots or garages,

Ultrasound Is Sound Based Imaging Technique
Introduction
Ultrasound is acoustic energy with a frequency at about 20kHz which is above the capability of human
hearing. It is more commonly used in the medical field than food industry. In the medical field, the
most significant usage of ultrasound is in sonographic scanners. As these scanners work at 2 18MHz,
it produces smaller wavelength which is able to make sonogram of smaller details. As such, ultrasound
sound based imaging technique is used to visualize body structures and tissues (Carovac, Smajlovic,
Junuzovic, 2011). Ultrasound contributes to the food industry via its acoustic cavitation in food and
dairy processing. For example, extraction using ultrasound technology has shown to increase yield of
high value food ingredients while emulsification produces food emulsions with smaller droplet size
(Chandrapala, Oliver, Kentish, Ashokkumar, 2012). In the dairy industry, ultrasound was proved to
enhance heat stability of dairy proteins and is used to separate fat from milk (Grieser, 2015). Although
most of the reported benefits of using ultrasound in food industry was done in the laboratory, major
advances have been made in recent years to utilize ultrasound in commercial processes (Patist Bates,
2008).
Mechanism?
The intrinsic mechanism of crystallization under the influenced of ultrasonic irradiation was not well
understood though there are many researchers working on this topic for the past few years. In spite of
that, the two recognized mechanism that

Main Features of A Mosque
Ai) Describe the main features of a mosque
A mosque is mainly used as a place of worship for Muslims to pray to Allah. Not all mosques are the
same, they vary from place to place. Some mosques are big and expensive whilst some other mosques
are small and cheap. All mosques are different but are yet similar in some ways for example; all
mosques are a place of worship.
Some mosque have a tall minaret in which the Muezzin uses it to call the Adthaan, informing nearby
Muslims that the time of prayer has come and they must quickly start their prayer. This is one of the
most important features of a mosque because without the minaret the Muezzin would not be able to

Anyone can be an Imam but they all have to go through this process. Women, on the other hand, can
be Imams but can only lead the prayers for women and act as women congregates. In Islam, it is
prohibited for a woman to lead men in prayers but Islam does not prohibit a woman from teaching
men about Islam.
Aiii) The role of the Mosques
Mosques are also used as community centres where people can get married as you can in a church but
they will have Islamic vows rather than Christian traditional vows although they may be very similar.
Mosques sometimes hold evening schools sp that particularly children may have Islamic education in
an non Islamic country ( E.g. learning to read and write Arabic and understanding the teachings of
Islam and the Qu ran ). During the month of Ramadan an area of the Mosque is set aside for people
who cannot afford to buy food, break their fast with food provided by the Mosque, the breaking of fast
is called Iftar. In many Mosques there are charity boxes for Muslims to donate Zakah to either the
Mosque or to the poor. All Muslims are obliged to donate at least 2.5% of their wealth in order to help
to develop the Mosque so that more people can attend the Mosque for prayer and for education on
Islam.
Another role of a Mosque is to provide Islamic education so that the younger generation can be
educated on Islam. This is to ensure that when older

Identity And Discrimination In Rudali
Review a work of fiction that helped/challenged/encouraged you to reflect on questions of identity and
discrimination . The work of fiction that challenged and encouraged my perceptions on identity and
discrimination is a piece of short fiction called Rudali , written in Bengali by Mahasweta Devi and
translated to English by Anjum Katyal. This text serves as an epitome of class, caste and gender
subalternity in the historic context of brahmanical patriarchy. The protagonist individualises the
discrimination exerted on low caste communities via the triple oppression faced by them under these
structures of society (i.e caste, class and gender) and tries to subvert these hegemonic structures from
within. The title of the book, Rudali ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although in many ways this text can be seen as a radical feminist text, but Devi dismisses the idea as
she is not a feminist. She feels that it is a mere coincidence that some professions are gendered and
doesn t regard women as a separate entity but treats their oppression as linked to a wider oppressive
structure controlled by caste. She thinks that to ignore the latter in the shadow of the former, is a
denial of history . But Usha Ganguli in her introductory text Metamorphosis of Rudali presents a
different view and says that in many ways this could be read as an enabling feminist text with the
empowerement of Sanichri, the bonding between the two characters, the importance given to
household chores, the common experiences of discrimination of women along class lines and the rare
sensitivity expressed by the author towards women in general. Through this novella, Devi discusses
and rethinks questions of class, caste and gender and how such structures affect women by giving a
powerful voice to the gendered subaltern and thus rescuing them from the dark recesses of third world

Tax On Gross Transportation Income Essay
Today, Section 883, Exclusions from Gross Income, is still the life rath that cruise companies cling to
save and protect their income from standard U.S. taxation. Since its inception,
(a)(1) Ships Operated by certain foreign corporations.
Gross income derived by a corporation organized in a foreign country from the international operation
of a ship or ships if such foreign country grants an equivalent exemption to corporations organized in
the United States.
Since, Section 883 ultimately provides a safe harbor for cruise companies, Section 887 at least
captures some taxes with the Imposition of tax on gross Transportation income of Nonresident Aliens
and Foreign Corporations. This section of the Code provides, When there is a nonresident individual
or foreign corporation that has United States source gross transportation income for such taxable year,
there shall be a 4% tax.
883(a)(5) provides for a special rule that does not take into account any failure of a foreign country to
grant an exemption to a corporation organized in the United States if the corporation is subject to tax
by the foreign country on a residence basis pursuant to provisions with the foreign law. Simply put, if
a foreign country neglected to tax a United States corporation who qualifies to be a resident of the
country, it is not factored into the tax treatment from the United States.

Argumentative Essay On Energy
Energy is not free! Our homes contain many, many systems that need energy. These systems come
with tons of costs that we may now have become used to. Energy has been costing us so much money
that we may not even notice it anymore. Every year, much of the energy the U.S. consumes is wasted
through transmission, heat loss and inefficient technology costing American families (U.S.
Department of Energy). We have heating systems, cooling systems, water heating systems, appliances,
and machines that all use the energy that costs us so much. It doesn t have to be that way; if we
learned to use our energy sources and their systems more efficiently we could save ourselves tons of
money. We have heating systems that cost us. These heating systems are designed to heat our entire
house. In many homes like mine we use heating systems powered by natural gas. Other homes may
have heating systems that run off of energy sources like wood, oil, sunlight, electricity, or propane.
The most common used sources of energy for heating systems include natural gas and electricity.
Systems that use natural gas or electricity to carry out their jobs include electric resistance heating,
furnaces, and boilers. These systems use the electricity or natural gas we provide them with every time
they are in use. Because all of these systems use energy there is room to save, we can make sure that
we use them only when we need to and are keeping them up to date with the latest energy saving

Investigating The Process Of Game Developers Use For Make...
For Research Project I have chosen to investigate the process that game developers use to make a
video game. Games have been around since 1951 when the first game Pong was invented, which took
to an international stage (Pong Story, 2013). Since then technology has evolved, which has allowed
game designers to make more sophisticated and technical games, which gives the players a more
realistic experience. What kind of software are used to make game? After designing the game s
concept, as well as the characters and environments; the next step is to make it digital , (Tim Crosby,
2008). There are many software packages available for beginners to experienced designers. Depending
on how skilled a designer is; they are able to get software packages that range from drag and drop
functions to, software that will need coding skills to make the game. Most software packages come
with tools to make two dimensional (2D) and three dimensional (3D) games. Software that you can
use to make a 2D game. Software that can be used to make a 2D, which is recommended, by both my
secondary and primary source is Game Maker. Game Maker has many of the tools that a game
designer would need, all in the one software. It allows you design many different types of games and
has in built game engine. It also supports game development for multiple platforms including
Windows, Mac, Android, IOS, Windows Phone, HTML5, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (YoYo Games,
2016) Software that you can use to make a 3D

Life Of A First Generation College Student
My time spent at Cogswell Polytechnical College has been one of a great experience thus, making me
more appreciative of the financial hardships my family continues to endure in order for me to attend
such a prestigious university. There is no one in my family to have made it this far academically as I
am living the life of a first generation college student. Now, being the only person out of my other
nine siblings to identify as a college student raises a lot of concern from the adults of the family as
well as intrapersonal stress. The annual income my family lives off of could be considered at poverty
level, therefore financials are allocated properly by priority with my education not being one of them.
Just as society views eighteen to be the threshold of adulthood, so do my parents. Consequently, I am
attending college strictly on my own and this is what makes me suitable candidate for the Dragon
scholarship. Simply put, anything to financially assist in my schooling would definitely relieve the
stress of wondering if Cogswell will just one day become too expensive for me to attend. When
furthering my education, problems within my family didn t only occur at the idea of myself attending
college but the logistics of doing so. It was this conflict of, in a way, restarting life as my hometown is
Vallejo and commuting to San Jose was just not an option. Nonetheless, San Jose was first foreign to
me, but thanks to the short journey from my

The Symbol of the Tower of London
Ever since its creation by Gundolf in 1078, the Tower of London has served many purposes. Whether
it was a royal residence or prison and torture chamber, most importantly, it has been a significant
symbol and monument of English history and architecture. A small, modest building, many tourists are
surprised to see the Tower of London, as it is not the magnificent, tall tower they were expecting. For
some years, the Tower of London was used as a royal residence where monarchs would stay for a
night before departing to continue their journey the next day. More interestingly, it was used as a
prison, torture chamber, and execution grounds.
Although, from the outside, the Tower of London is not very lavish when compared with the majestic,
grand, and intricate buildings in England, it was once a desired place for royals to stay whether for one
night or longer. During the time it was used as a royal residence, it was referred to as The White
Tower, and was quite an alluring place. The Tower of London (or The White Tower) consisted of
several buildings surrounded by a wall and mote. Later on after the construction was completed,
Richard the Lionheart, Edward I, and Henry VIII enlarged the complex.
Colorful, pretty, and comfortable, the Tower of London during its time as a royal residence contained
more than just stone buildings it was a center of life. Bustling servants, tradesmen, and court
attendants would hurry around the lively tower, going in and out of the huge kitchen,

Machiavellian and Kantian Analysis of Buddy Fletcher and SEC
Machiavellian Analysis Buddy Fletcher was able to use his financial success and philanthropy to win
respect and power. His high esteem combined with his ability to deliver strong profits lead to blind
deference. As Machiavelli wrote, he who is highly esteemed is not easily conspired against 11 (Ch.
19). In the beginning of his career, Fletcher embodies the spirit of a Machiavellian leader by
commanding influence through his success. However, in the spirit of Kant, he seems to adhere to
strong moral principles, such as not lying and using others as merely means to his end. However, as
details of his success were revealed, his moral character becomes increasingly questionable. Firstly, he
did not disclose the methods by which he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This large scale deception is a clear violation of the principle of universality. If every financier acted
like Fletcher, financial systems throughout the world would be destroyed. Trust is a key component
and without trust, these systems would lose all their credibility. Fletcher made an exception of himself,
violating the maxim of not lying, and took advantage of a trusted system and naive individuals.
Fletcher shows his lack of integrity, a quality Kant believed central to his moral theory12 (pg. 155).
This lack of integrity only further demonstrates Fletcher s immorality. Buddy Fletcher s actions were
motivated by selfish desires that he attempted to justify through outlandish philanthropy. Lacking pure
motivations, Fletcher used others to suit his own end. Exercising extreme moral hazard, Fletcher lied
his way into millions of dollars12. When his fund turned out to be insolvent, it is the individuals
pension funds that suffer, not Fletcher himself. This is a clear violation of the humanity principle. The
humanity principle states that one must never use others as merely a means to their own end. He took
pension funds from unwitting individuals and used them for personal needs, such as funding of his
brother s failed movie10. Not only did he lie to investors about the success of the fund, but he used
their investments for personal use. He completely violates the humanity principle, using

Life Coaching Essay
Although I am often referred to as a life coach, I believe perspective coach better describes what I
offer my clients.
I like the word perspective because it means a particular attitude toward something; a point of view.
A life coach is traditionally characterized as someone who counsels and encourages clients on matters
having to do with career or personal challenges; counseling often defined as a form of advice.
Although timely advice can be useful, many of us already have a number of well meaning people
lined up in our lives who are more than eager to dispense their vault of wisdom about the right way for
us to live a happy and successful life.

So why do we struggle to change?
We don t see things as they are, we see them as we are.

Each of has a very unique perspective of the world we see. Some of us see the macro while others

Our point of view is neither right nor wrong, it just is, but what we see is what is ultimately going to

Our attitudes are not based on what we think about a situation, but how we feel about it, and those

Compensation Cases and Their Impact on China and Japan
History and the notion of compensation are two key aspects in the study of Sino Japanese relations.
During the 1980s, the opening up by the People s Republic of China s government about war atrocities
led a number of victims to seek reparations and apologies from Japan. Compensation cases were
brought forward from the 1990s and broke the silence about what had truly happened during the war.
Moreover, the rapid spread of new information about the past prompted increased tensions between
the two countries that had previously ignored the issue in order to privilege economic and diplomatic
cooperation. To date, the affiliation between China and Japan seems to have deteriorated significantly

The creation of these Sino Japanese groups emphasizes the fact that the problem of compensation was
just as important for both sides and signified that the history issue hadn t been dealt with properly. The

The Mission Of The Rocket Mission
The Rocket Mission The year was 2515. I walked into a nearby old antec shop where they sold mini
Empire State Buildings, Pyramids, and Eiffel Towers. I went in there to collect a mini Eiffel Tower
that the shop brought in, it had been a tradition that one person in my family would buy an Eiffel
tower each year as a remembrance of my family s story of the Tower, and this year was my year. After
I had walked into the shop and was greeted by a funky scent. It smelled like a mixture of dirty old man
and dust. It didn t take me long before I figured out what the smell was, a small, wrinkly, old man
walked up to me, greeting me with what looked like a bowl filled with dusty candy that must of been
there for 20 years. Trying to be polite I took a candy and shoved it into my pocket knowing that I
would never eat it anyway. The old man must of recognized me because before I had said anything, he
slowly hobled to the back of the shop and came back with something in the basket on his walker. You
must be a member of the Ferguson family, the old man had said in a raspy quiet voice. In reply I said,

The most popular brand in the world was made that way by one man: Jake Burton. His vision to make
what was once thought of as a passing fad into the most popular extreme sport in the world was really

Good And Evil During Ww2
Like the current days of the world, good and evil are very big things compared to the world we live in.
Good and evil are displayed throughout the book through the three different situations. The three
situations are the society as a whole during WWII, the eight people in hiding, and the character of
Anne. As a Jew, Anne suffered lots of evil like her family being taken away from her, torture, and
many other acts. In WWII times, the society was dead and the world around Germany was also.
First of all, the society as a whole during WWII was both good and evil because there was a growth in
the economy due to the mass production of war material. During this time, the president ended
segregation giving many different races great new benefits. Also, the United States became a world
power. Plus the atomic bomb gave other nations a different thought of how the United States operated.
The society as a whole during WWII was both good and bad. Many people of this time believed that
everything was bad during this time including the many Jews that were killed in the Holocaust.
Second, of all, the eight people in hiding were both good and bad because they were blessed to have
one survivor, Otto Frank, but were also compromised. Otto survived Auschwitz and got Anne s diary

An Investigation of a Language Profile of a Mother-Tongue...
1. Introduction As 50% or more of the world s towns and cities are bilingual or multilingual
communities (Pennington et al. 1992), quantities of research studies have been carried out on language
behavior or choice of a certain ethnic group in a bilingual or multilingual community. This research
focuses on the language behavior of a mother tongue Mandarin speaker who is having graduate study
in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is a typical metropolis immersed in multilingualism, since there are
considerably diverse ethnic groups in this area (2011 Census Office, 2012). According to the report of

Though there has been a much wider tolerance of Mandarin speaking in different contexts in Hong
Kong (Chen, 2012), Mandarin speakers experience language alternation in this triglossic community.
Many studies have been conducted to examine the language behavior of a specific ethnic group.
Gibbons (1987) and Pennington et al. (1992) carried out empirical studies on investigating code
switching and code mixing of HongKongers in different communicative contexts in Hong Kong and
their attitudes towards language alternation. Pannu (1994) focused her research on Indian ethnic group
in Hong Kong, which explored their language repertoire and perception of their language use. As
Pennington et al. (1992, p.3) described, the ultimate goal of those investigations is to model language
choice of different groups in Hong Kong by presenting their language use. As previously
demonstrated, mainland Chinese students have taken up the major proportion of non local tertiary
students in Hong Kong, and it will probably be an evitable tendency in the following years (Yeung,
2012). Nonetheless, little study has been undertaken to shed light on language profile around
sociolinguistic question of who speaks what language to whom, when, where and why (Fishman,

the brilliant architecture of the city s buildings. Several temples dot the landscape, two of which

The people who whisked Paul from Berea took him to Athens, and that is where we find him in the
situation we formerly described (Acts 17:15). Upon arriving in Athens, we see Paul finding the
idolatry of Athens disturbing as we did (Acts 17:16). Paul undoubtedly traveled around the city, but
the idols he saw deeply troubled him. Luke states that Paul was provoked, or stirred as the King James
Version renders it, in his spirit. This stirring was directly caused by the idolatry. But what does it mean
to provoke someone s spirit? We tend to view provocation as negative, because when someone is
provoked, he is angry, and that is usually bad news for us. We should not view the provocation of Paul
negatively; rather, we should view it as honest anger (Kittel 5: 856). Though the same author who
provides this viewpoint does not believe the provocation drove Paul to preach, the text indicates
otherwise. The very next verse informs us that he reasoned in the synagogues and in the marketplaces
as a result of what he saw (Acts 17:17). Paul s preaching, caused by the provocation we just discussed,
afforded him incredible opportunities. He discussed Christ with the Jews, the Gentile worshipers, the
frequenters of the marketplace, and even some philosophers (Acts 17:17 18). Though many of the

Producing the First Atomic Bomb
Introduction Uranium is a dense radioactive metal that is used in nuclear reactors. It is found in nature
and has two large isotopes, U 235 and U 238. The energy that is produced in nuclear reactors is from
the splitting or fission of the U 235 atoms. It releases energy in most cases in the form of heat; U 235
is the main splitting isotope of uranium. Uranium enriched is required to be in light water reactors,
which allows controlled nuclear reaction.
Processes for Uranium Enrichment When producing the first atomic bomb, scientists from the
Manhattan Project thought about multiple processes for uranium enrichment, now we have a few that
we use which is Gaseous Diffusion also known as Effusion, Gas Centrifuge, and Laser separation.
Gaseous diffusion is a technology that produces enriched uranium by forcing uranium hexafluoride
through pipelines and then pumped through filters called barriers. This makes it where there is a slight
separation between molecules, which contain uranium 235, and uranium 238. There are hundreds of
barriers because one barrier isn t enough to make uranium hexafluoride gas contain enough U238 that
can be used in reactors. We only have on plant left and it is located in Paducah, Kentucky. The Gas
Centrifuge was made to replace Gaseous Diffusion, it is a device that performs isotope separation of
gases and it s the preferred way because it takes less time, and takes less energy. We have these plants
in New Mexico, Idaho and Ohio. Laser separation is

With roots in the Church of the Brethren, it is easy to trace where the organizational culture gets its
roots. In fact their mission statement is to provide Christian educational opportunities, facilities, and
programs for all ages in an inviting woodland setting; encouraging the formation of Christ centered
living, leadership, and stewardship of creation, leading toward wholeness in the kingdom of God
(Brethren Woods, 2017). These Christian beliefs are explicit in each camp week as the organization
values events including bible study, vespers, and morning watch. They can also be seen in the
expectations for employees from the dress code to the housing rules. Brethren Woods also gets much
of their funding from Brethren churches surrounding the area. As stakeholders, these churches keep
the camp accountable to their values because they do not want to put their money into an organization
that does not align with their beliefs. All of these elements of the camp s organizational culture led to
the way the handled the problem with their staff. First off, one of the elements of their mission is to
form leaders in Christ. With their leaders exhibiting behaviors contrary to these values, something had
to be done. Next, there was a culture set by the executive director and two co program directors that

Ambiguity of American Gothic Anxieties
Since the 19h century, American Gothic fiction started to exist independently from the British type. In
fact, the latter was marked by its use of fantastic, externalized and metaphysical elements as opposed
to the boundaries of American Gothic fiction in which were expressed by historical, internalized,
racial and psychological characteristics. (Edwards, XVII) In Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven, Fall of the

In many gothic fictions, Native Americans are the villains of the story, as white American writers have
projected their sense of evil upon the native inhabitants. (Crow 137) This negative image towards this
group is the reality of the 19th century anxiety of miscegenation, and the fear of wilderness. A
shadowed forest, the possibility of an Indian lurking in the dark ready to attack and the unknown are
features of the wilderness in which created boundaries from the civilized town to the savage forest,
from consciousness and waking to unconscious and dreaming. In Hawthorne s Young Goodman
Brown, the feeling of dread and the unknown draws itself into Brown s mind as he journeys into the
gloomy forest. Brown, like most Americans, drew negative images of Native Americans and their land
of wilderness as he spoke: There may be a devilish Indian behind every tree. (Hawthorne, 606)
Moreover, when Brown reaches the witch meeting, he sees Indians or powwow priests interacting in
the evil ritual with people who follow puritan beliefs. The hypocritical aspect of Goodman Brown s
community is still seen as less demonic than that of the Indians, as they are always portrayed as the
lesser breed . Goodman Brown attest that the natives who had often scared their native forest with
more hideous incantations than any known to English witchcraft (Hawthorne 612).

The Story Of Fun With Dick And Jane
The story of Fun with Dick and Jane is one about a very up and coming business man who loses his
job as a result of his employer s economic difficulty. Consequently, these circumstances leave his
family not only in a financial crisis, but in clear and utter hopelessness. From the grass literally being
pulled out of their front yard to their home foreclosure, Dick and Jane faced tragic difficulties that
many others faced in the recent foreclosure crisis. Dick and Jane felt so desperate that they decided the
most appropriate solution was stealing what they needed to feed their family. This sense of desperation
is what all those recovering from a foreclosure feel. Often times if families survive the immediate
hardships of foreclosure, then there are lasting ramifications such as poor credit, emotional stress, and
the loss of their home that they must face. In addition, they will struggle with obtaining future loans,
be subject to higher interest rates, and subject to higher security deposits for utilities. These
circumstances make it entirely difficult to recover from foreclosure and next to impossible to own a
home once again. However, among these trials there are methods those recovering from a foreclosure
can use to obtain a home such as a land contract. A land contract is a way to purchase a home with
financing through the seller rather than a bank. There is also a time period in which monthly payments
are made, and at the end of that time the buyer must pay for the home.

The most important thing about the B.E.O.s is the time. Because there are so many events that happen
one after another, one event usually requires all hands on deck. To me, teamwork and communication
is the most important thing in the banquet department because everybody has a role in making sure
that the event is flawless all while exceeding the guests needs in any situation. The Food Beverage
jobs vary from location to location but can range anywhere from an entry level to an executive level.
Depending on the position in Banquets, Catering, or Convention Services, Hilton offers top notch job
training, leadership skills, and support. The Hilton s values as a company are in its name itself. They
are hospitality, for giving the guests an extraordinary experience, integrity by doing the right thing, all

Landscaping In Painting Industry
Hiring a contractor from another industry that just happens to offer power washing services can be
something you end up regretting. Many painting companies, landscape crews, and do it all handymen
offer power washing services on the side. Power washing is not as simple or easy as some unethical
contractors would like you to believe. The fact is, many surfaces can be easily damaged by an
inexperienced operator such as vinyl siding, wooden decks, and asphalt shingle roofs. You are much
better off to hire a painter for painting services, a landscape company for landscaping, and obviously a
professional power washing contractor for power wash services. Someone is an expert in something
but no one is an expert in everything. Hiring a full time

Congressional Term Limits Essay
While Donald J. Trump was at a campaign event in Colorado Springs, he said that if he was elected
president he would call for congressional term limits. He began by saying that he has plans to drain
the swamp of Washington, DC. As apart of this statement, he promised to push for a constitutional
amendment to impose term limits on congressional lawmakers. Not only will it end our government
corruption, but we will end the economic stagnation that we are in right now , stated Trump. What
Donald Trump is talking about is directly connected to the United States Congress and would have
huge impact on Congress if gone through with.
This is of considerable significance due to the fact that Congress is a fundamental part of the United
States government. And changing it, would lead to major changes in how our government functions.
Limiting congressional terms might have some unforeseen complications. For example, some states
have placed term limits on their state legislatures, and have found that newly elected legislators tend to
be more partisan and ideological than their more seasoned colleagues. Long serving lawmakers often
become more understanding of the rival party and learn how to find workable compromises. While
novice legislators, fresh from the campaign trail, often see the other party as an enemy. Which can
greatly inhibit the coalition building needed to pass budgets and meaningful laws. On the other hand,
some people believe that term limits will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I agree that term limits may help with the corruption problem, however I also believe that term limits
may create a Congress of little experience. In reality, there is almost no possibility that congressional
term limits will be enacted. Even if Donald Trump proposed these term limits, such a change would
require a two thirds vote from both chambers or a constitutional convention. And neither the House
nor the Senate would agree to placing term limits on

Narrative Essay About Titanic
Titanic, the HMHS Britannic, RMS Lusitania; what do these names all have in common? That s right,
they all were boats that sunk. Relating to my story, I was in a tropical paradise that looked as if it was
the kind you see on calendars and default backgrounds on computers, the kind you thought never
really existed. Never had I seen such beauty before. My family and I walked the soft sanded beaches
for hours on end every day, soaking in all of the burning sun s rays and exploring everything the island
had to offer. I fell in love with the warm, clear, turquoise waters and the smell of salt water in the air
wherever you go. As soon as I stepped off the plane, I knew that Turks and Caicos was a once in a
lifetime opportunity, one to be cherished forever. But no trip would be memorable if there wasn t a
moment of action and adventure. So in order to make this the greatest trip of all time, my family and I
decided to go against the wishes of the resort and go where no tourist dared to go. This could ve been
the vacation getaway talking, but we rented mini boats from off resort merchants, unsure of the
dangers that were to come.
My family of six loaded into 3 mini boats fit for two kids. With all of us being over the age of 12, it
was bound to be a tight squeeze. I started off driving one of three mini boats across the choppy waters
with my sister right by my side. Gone in a flash, my brothers went whizzing by with the sound of their
engine roaring a high pitched roar. The resort

THEORIES OF THE ORIGIN OF THE UNIVERSE
1. Steady State Theory #8211; based on the perfect cosmological principle that the universe looks the
same from any location at anytime. This theory holds that the universe is unchanging, it has no
beginning and no end.
2. Big Bang Theory #8211; presupposes that the vast universe grew out of something where all matter
and energy were compressed to infinite density and heated to trillions of degrees (a beginning which
was an immensely small particle of high density state. The four basic forces of nature #8211; gravity,
electromagnetism, strong and weak atomic forces #8211; were unified in that tiny particle. This

Here is where the star leaves the main sequence. This collapse begins to create more and more
pressure inside the star until it is sufficient to have the fusing process of helium begin in the core,

carbon and oxygen. The star swells, and depending on its size, either becomes a red giant or a red

THEORIES OF THE ORIGIN OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM
The Accretion theory
This assumes that the Sun passed through a dense interstellar cloud and emerged surrounded by a
dusty, gaseous envelope. It thus separates the formation of the Sun from that of the planets thus losing
problem 1.
The problem which remains is that of getting the cloud to form the planets. The terrestrial planets can
form in a reasonable time but the gaseous planets take far too long to form. The theory does not
explain satellites or Bode s law and must be considered the weakest of those described here.
The Protoplanet theory
This assumes that initially there is a dense interstellar cloud which will eventually produce a cluster of
stars. Dense regions in the cloud form and coalesce; as the small blobs have random spins the
resulting stars will have a low rotation rates. The planets are smaller blobs captured by the star. The
small blobs would have higher rotation than is seen in the planets but the theory accounts for

To become the very best, we have to determine what that means in the world of Pokemon Go. Does it

Automatic Active phase selector
Abstract:
Phase absence is a very common and severe problem in any industry, home or office. Many times one
or two phases may not be live in three phase supply. Because of this, many times, some electrical
appliances will be on in one room and OFF in another room. This creates a big disturbance to our
routine work.
This project is designed to check the availability of any live phase, and the load will be connected to
the particular live phase only. Even a single phase is available, and then also, the load will be in ON
condition.
The aim of this project is to construct a single phasing monitor and prevention system using 8bit

Management Functions And Functions Of Management Essay
Assessing Management Functions
List the four functions of management and provide an overview of their purpose for the organization.
The four functions of management are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. The planning
function establishes a way to attain the desired objectives, resolve issues and facilitate action. The
purpose of the planning function is to align the vision, culture, employees and the organizational
structure with the strategies, and this involves multiple levels across the organization. Ultimately,
planning is a needed function for business success (Huff 2009).
The leading function of management assists the managers in administering and overseeing the
performances of the staff. Leading allows management to give help to the employees by guiding them
towards achievement of the organization s goals and also pursuit of their personal and career goals
(Fontaine).
The purpose of the organizing function of management is to identify the best people, design a
structure and provide the needed resources to ensure the success of the organizational plans. The
controlling function of management focuses on the specific tasks of overseeing work pertaining to
company standards and rewarding superior performances. This is one of the tools I/O consultants can
use to devise a system that will identify, support, measure, assess, enhance, and reward employee
performance (Argosy University Online, 2016).

Essay on Occupy Wall Street Movement
The Occupy Wall Street Movement that began in New York Sept. 17 and has since spread like wildfire
across the world has made an undeniable impact on the social and political climate of the Upper
Midwest. | With various Occupy protest committees continuing to spring up across Minnesota and
North Dakota, many working people in the region who, previously, might not have come together on
other political issues say they have found common ground in the Occupy Movement.
Union, non union, white collar, and unemployed workers are learning to work together towards
severing, what protesters describe as, a dangerously cozy relationship between Wall Street and

This diversity of grievances expressed in various Occupy locations has drawn criticism from some as
evidence of a lack of focus within the movement. | |
Its obvious what we re about, responds Nathan Ness of St Paul, an OCW activist who has participated
in Occupy Movement actions in Minneapolis, Duluth and California. The Occupy Wall Street
Movement is a movement protesting corporate greed. Corporate greed has many tentacles that people
in the Occupy movement are focusing on. However, most of us agree that human beings, not
corporations, should have the rights of personhood.
Dave Bicking of Minneapolis, a former Green Party candidate for Minneapolis City Council, agrees:
Over the years, we ve conducted countless demonstrations, lobbying efforts, boycotts you name it,
trying to get specific demands addressed. The problem is: nobody is listening at the top. The system is
completely rigged against us.
There is a diversity of ideas in the Occupy Wall Street Movement concerning how, exactly, to deal
with the corporate take over of our democracy. We don t always agree on every issue. But, the Occupy
Wall Street Movement is about changing the fundamental way our system operates. We all seem to
agree on that.
In Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Mel Thoresen of Occupy Grand Rapids reports that, from his

Reviewing Waltz s Man, The State, And War
Brittany Griffin
POLS 6850
Book Review

Reviewing Waltz s Man, the State, and War
Throughout the years, scholars have attempted to solve the complex puzzle of why states make and
refrain from making war (Sjoberg, 2012, p. 1). Kenneth Waltz uniquely approaches the puzzle through
three levels of analysis, or as Waltz calls them, images: within man, within the structure of separate
states, within the state system (Waltz, 1959, p. 12). To describe how each image approaches the causes
of war, Waltz pulls from the work of prominent scholars, analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of
each argument and image. Ultimately, Waltz contends that the third image, or the international system,
is the most cogent explanation of the recurrence of war but that the three images are interrelated and
all hold significance for advancing knowledge of the causes of war.
First Image: Within the Nature of Man Waltz explains that the first image of international relations
uses the nature and behavior of man to account for the important causes of war, consistent with the
basic tenants of Classical Realism. Wars result from selfishness, from misdirected aggressive
impulses, from stupidity, Waltz states. Other causes are secondary and have to be interpreted in the
light of these factors (1959, p. 16). If the first image is correct in identifying the primary causes of
war, then he asserts that it leads one to believe that men must be uplifted and enlightened if war is to

Core Principles Of Chiropractic Care
What is chiropractic care? If you asked this question to hundreds of people, only a few dozen would
know what it really is. Most think of it as a doctor that only addresses back and neck pains and
nothing else. Chiropractic care is so much more than that; it s an alternative to modern day medicine
for many different pains and diseases. Chiropractic care has been around for much longer than most
people realize. Unlike modern medicine which has been evolving and changing for the past hundred
or so years chiropractic care has relatively remained the same for thousands of years. Chiropractic
care has been used for an extensive period of time, Chiropractic types of treatment have been
employed since antiquity (Barbara Wexler). The core ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus chiropractic care has various social, economic, political and aesthetic benefits.
Chiropractic care benefits people s social lives in more ways than most seem to realize. The affects
can be massive, like allowing you to go on more vacation you previously couldn t because of pain, or
in little ways, like allowing our older generation to be more active with their friends and family. In a
person s everyday life, pain can be a deterrent to doing many everyday activities. People with back
and neck problems can t participate with family, friends, or their community when being active causes
them great pain. Once fun times become a distant memory with the present filled with caution and
anticipation for pain. These people take medications and are referred to surgeries by their doctors to
try and improve their everyday life, when in reality all that medication and surgeries are just masking
the problems. What chiropractic care does is addresses the problem at the source. Though chiropractic
care may not fix a person 100%, it allows the person to do more in their lives with less pain. People
can t just focus on the amount of pain they re in, Instead of focusing on pain, note how much more
you can do. Improvement in activities in daily living is a more valid measure of progress than pain

Deep Ecology Essay
Whether its watching a whale jump up in the air and seeing him crashing back into the water, or
looking at all of the trees leafs changing colors in the fall time; nature is a beautiful thing. In the past,
traditional Native Americans once cared about the land. The grass, trees, rocks, and everything else
had value. Nowadays most people are moving away from these ideas and moving towards a capitalist
mindset, only caring about their own personal gain. Deep ecology is defined as an environmental
movement and philosophy that regards human life as just one of many equal components of a global

This could potentially lead to the human population becoming extinct. I m not saying this is going to
actually happen or be an immediate result of our actions but this is what the world is coming to. The
companies are the indirect problem in this issue. It s the population s demand that keeps these
companies going which makes us the direct source to the problem. Almost everyone is caught up in
the capitalist mentality, only caring about themselves and seeing how much money they can make.
And when that happens they go out and buy more products which have negatively affected the
environment. It s a vicious cycle that doesn t seem like it is coming to a stop anytime soon.

  • 2. Developing A Strong Classroom Management Style There are many factors that affects a student s ability to learn and achieve. Classroom management plays a major role in the effectiveness of education and paves the way for the teacher to engage students in learning. Classroom management creates a set of expectations, routines, rules, and consequences. Through my experience at Olson Elementary, I have had the privilege of observing Ms. Mason, her students, and how she addresses classroom management. Every teacher has their own approach on classroom management, but essentially instills and models and principles of instills the goals and structure that meet the needs of their students. A key factor in developing a strong classroom management style is having engaging instruction. Ms. Mason creates a motivating environment by using a variety of teaching methods and tools. She uses a document camera and projector to display teaching lessons to the class. She does assignments with the students, which engages the students and allows them to move at a pace that better suits them. She also incorporates the use of videos, current events, and different activity stations. She also has a compelling nature about her when speaks and interacts with her students; she is animated, sincere, and captivating. In my future classroom I would also use different teaching methods because students have different learning styles. I would incorporate more kinesthetic and hands on learning activities. I would want to emphasize Ron Clark s approach ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Operation Overlord Essays Operation Overlord On June 6, 1944 the largest amphibious assault in history took place. Following the bombardment over 100,000 soldiers swam ashore, and 11,700 paratroopers were dropped to secure Normandy Beach. This work practically destroyed the French transportation system, removing the Germans ability to send reinforcements for the attack. The night before D Day, three airborne units, the 101st and 82nd American Airborne Divisions and the 6th British Airborne Division were meant to be deployed to areas south of the beach. Their mission was to clear the way for the troops by eliminating various obstacles. However, due to the weather the mission was not fully successful. The 82nd, to be dropped near the town of Sainte Mère Eglise, were scattered throughout the countryside. The 101st s mission was to drop south of Utah Beach to secure roads and bridges at Carentan. Unfortunately, many of the paratroopers were dropped into the water and drowned. However, the troops were able to regroup to complete most of their objectives, thanks to the efforts of the French Resistance. Because the Resistance had cut phone lines, the German chain of command was disrupted, and they could not get a firm hold on the battle. At 7:00 am, the time appointed as H Hour, the amphibious invasion began. The bombardment was to end and the invasions begin at the same time. The bombers finished on time, but the landing equipment ran late, giving the Germans a little bit of time to prepare for the invasion. Juno beach was invaded by the Canadian 3rd Infantry and their success there is a matter of great Canadian national pride. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Five States of Chronic Kidney Disease Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a long term condition characterized by presence of kidney damage or a decrease of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) less than 60ml/min/1.73m2 for 3 months or longer periods (Levey, Bosch, Lewis, 1999). Kidney disease always being neglected as it was asymptomatic in the early stage. Chronic kidney disease was divided into 5 stages and according to its severity. The staging system is based on the estimated GFR and remaining kidney function. In each stages of chronic kidney disease, there is certain medical action and investigation need to be carry out to monitor the progression of disease. Medical practitioners can use this as basis guidelines to monitor the deterioration of kidney disease. Patient will increase severity of uremic and suffer from clinical manifestations of azotemia when GFR drop to less than 25% of normal (Schrier, 2010). When GFR drop to less than 15ml Stage 5 CKD patient need to be undergo renal replacement therapy, either dialysis or renal transplant in order to avoid complication such as uremic and fluid overload. Whenever there is an injury occurs to the kidney, reduction of nephron number will be result from compensatory of glomerular haemodynamic changes. The adductor longus, adductor brevis and adductor Magnus contract isometrically to prevent adduction and abduction. The Sartorius muscle contracts eccentrically to cause flexion and abduction at the knee. The sartoris originates from the anterior superior iliac spine and inserts onto the tibia. The adductor and abductor muscles at the hip joint contract to prevent movement that may cause injury (Tortora and Derrickson, 2009). Knee On the downward phase flexion occurs at the knee, stopping at about 90 °. Most bacteria are microscopic, measuring 1 micron in length. However, colonies of bacteria grown in a laboratory petri dish can be seen with the unaided eye. There are many divisions and classifications of bacteria that assist in identifying them. The first two types of bacteria are archaebacteria and eubacteria. Both groups have common ancestors dating to more than 3 billion years ago. Archaebacteria live in environments where, because of the high temperature, no other life can grow. Its antibacterial action is very similar to that of neomycin. Kanamycin works against many aerobic gram positive and gram negative bacteria, especially E. coli. Protracted use may result in auditory as well as other damages. Erythromycin is an antibiotic produced by a strain of Streptomyces erythreaus. This antibiotic works by inhibiting protein synthesis but not nucleic synthesis. Erythromycin has inhibitory effects on gram negative cocci as well as some gram positive bacteria. Chloramphenicol is a clinically useful antibiotic in combating serious infections caused by certain bacteria in place of potentially hazardous means of solving the problem. In lab tests, it has been shown that this medicine stopped bacterial reproduction in a wide range of both gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Students who buy raffle tickets get to write a boxing move on them, which Jerry has to do to Janza, or vice versa, and where to hit them. During the fight, Jerry and Janza are hitting each other as the papers say to. Janza is a lot stronger, and his punches have much more power even though Jerry is able to land a few good hits of his own into the fight. A member of The Vigils draws a raffle ticket that says for Janza to hit Jerry in the groin. Jerry, however, blocks the punch, and the fight becomes more violent. Janza decides not to follow the rules of the fight, and repeatedly punches Jerry. Finally, once Jerry falls to the ground, the lights in the stadium turn off. What aspects of its strategy are active? What aspects are passive? DFA s investment strategy was centered on academic research, specifically on the findings of Banz size effect and Fama and French s book to market effect. In Banz research, he found that small stocks consistently outperformed large stocks over the entire history of the stock market from 1926 through the late 1970s. DFA s founders believed in two principals (outside of efficient markets): the value of sound academic research, and the ability of skilled traders to contribute to a fund s profits even when the investment was inherently passive. By working closely with the academic world, DFA is able to exploit opportunities generated from academic research before others are able to; this creates opportunities for short and long term excess return. Also, working in stocks that other mutual funds do not participate (micro, small cap) allows DFA to exploit opportunities in otherwise illiquid stocks. By having a large presence in this market, the company is able to take advantage of trading opportunities with counterparts (liquidity discounts from block purchases). 5. What level of market efficiency does DFA accept? Why this level and not any other? DFA accepts the semi strong form efficiency of the market. DFA feels that on average the market price correctly incorporates all public information. Its concern is merely that there is no negative private information known to the seller but not to the market. If DFA did not have concern of negative information known by the seller and not the market, the strong form of efficiency would be appropriate (this version of the efficient market hypothesis is quite extreme). In order to do that it needs to resolve the issues it encounters along the way, one prominent complaint among the student body and professors is the need for improvements with the parking availability at the university. I believe the university will fail the students and faculty by not providing anything and focusing on other areas instead. The university is focused more on improving the revenue flow than the experience of students and faculty that provide its revenue. The sheer volume of students the university has exceeds the number it can provide housing for, thus making housing a priority over parking. With a limited budget the issue could take longer to resolve fully, another issue could be the space required for a lot or garage. Troy University also has a bus system that helps off campus students with transportation but the times they arrive can vary greatly. The university is exceeding what it can be expected to support and with that all aspects of student life can be at risk. Even campus involvement suffering because so many are forced off campus for housing. If the school were to resolve both issues it could see a happier populace. The university has options to fix the issue, but will likely neglect the issue as it does not directly contribute to the university financially instead they will prioritize new dorms and a new recreation facility. One option that the university could implement is a freshman driving ban, this would likely add strain on the bus system and demand a rework of it, but the buses are not used by a majority of students and a rework of it could see demand rise which would be beneficial and maybe even justify an expansion of it. The university could see backlash in response to such a policy, but campus involvement would likely improve. This solution would also see the space that the university needs to expand be available for other projects and not used by massive lots or garages, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Ultrasound Is Sound Based Imaging Technique Introduction Ultrasound is acoustic energy with a frequency at about 20kHz which is above the capability of human hearing. It is more commonly used in the medical field than food industry. In the medical field, the most significant usage of ultrasound is in sonographic scanners. As these scanners work at 2 18MHz, it produces smaller wavelength which is able to make sonogram of smaller details. As such, ultrasound sound based imaging technique is used to visualize body structures and tissues (Carovac, Smajlovic, Junuzovic, 2011). Ultrasound contributes to the food industry via its acoustic cavitation in food and dairy processing. For example, extraction using ultrasound technology has shown to increase yield of high value food ingredients while emulsification produces food emulsions with smaller droplet size (Chandrapala, Oliver, Kentish, Ashokkumar, 2012). In the dairy industry, ultrasound was proved to enhance heat stability of dairy proteins and is used to separate fat from milk (Grieser, 2015). Although most of the reported benefits of using ultrasound in food industry was done in the laboratory, major advances have been made in recent years to utilize ultrasound in commercial processes (Patist Bates, 2008). Mechanism? The intrinsic mechanism of crystallization under the influenced of ultrasonic irradiation was not well understood though there are many researchers working on this topic for the past few years. The work of fiction that challenged and encouraged my perceptions on identity and discrimination is a piece of short fiction called Rudali , written in Bengali by Mahasweta Devi and translated to English by Anjum Katyal. This text serves as an epitome of class, caste and gender subalternity in the historic context of brahmanical patriarchy. The protagonist individualises the discrimination exerted on low caste communities via the triple oppression faced by them under these structures of society (i.e caste, class and gender) and tries to subvert these hegemonic structures from within. Although in many ways this text can be seen as a radical feminist text, but Devi dismisses the idea as she is not a feminist. She feels that it is a mere coincidence that some professions are gendered and doesn t regard women as a separate entity but treats their oppression as linked to a wider oppressive structure controlled by caste. She thinks that to ignore the latter in the shadow of the former, is a denial of history . But Usha Ganguli in her introductory text Metamorphosis of Rudali presents a different view and says that in many ways this could be read as an enabling feminist text with the empowerement of Sanichri, the bonding between the two characters, the importance given to household chores, the common experiences of discrimination of women along class lines and the rare sensitivity expressed by the author towards women in general. Energy has been costing us so much money that we may not even notice it anymore. Games have been around since 1951 when the first game Pong was invented, which took to an international stage (Pong Story, 2013). Since then technology has evolved, which has allowed game designers to make more sophisticated and technical games, which gives the players a more realistic experience. What kind of software are used to make game? After designing the game s concept, as well as the characters and environments; the next step is to make it digital , (Tim Crosby, 2008). Good and evil are displayed throughout the book through the three different situations. The three situations are the society as a whole during WWII, the eight people in hiding, and the character of Anne. As a Jew, Anne suffered lots of evil like her family being taken away from her, torture, and many other acts. In WWII times, the society was dead and the world around Germany was also. • 33. An Investigation of a Language Profile of a Mother-Tongue... 1. Introduction As 50% or more of the world s towns and cities are bilingual or multilingual communities (Pennington et al. 1992), quantities of research studies have been carried out on language behavior or choice of a certain ethnic group in a bilingual or multilingual community. This research focuses on the language behavior of a mother tongue Mandarin speaker who is having graduate study in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is a typical metropolis immersed in multilingualism, since there are considerably diverse ethnic groups in this area (2011 Census Office, 2012). According to the report of 2011 Census Office (2012), the number of mother tongue Standard Mandarin (hereafter, Mandarin) speakers in Hong Kong has displayed an increase in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though there has been a much wider tolerance of Mandarin speaking in different contexts in Hong Kong (Chen, 2012), Mandarin speakers experience language alternation in this triglossic community. Many studies have been conducted to examine the language behavior of a specific ethnic group. Gibbons (1987) and Pennington et al. (1992) carried out empirical studies on investigating code switching and code mixing of HongKongers in different communicative contexts in Hong Kong and their attitudes towards language alternation. Pannu (1994) focused her research on Indian ethnic group in Hong Kong, which explored their language repertoire and perception of their language use. As Pennington et al. (1992, p.3) described, the ultimate goal of those investigations is to model language choice of different groups in Hong Kong by presenting their language use. As previously demonstrated, mainland Chinese students have taken up the major proportion of non local tertiary students in Hong Kong, and it will probably be an evitable tendency in the following years (Yeung, 2012). Nonetheless, little study has been undertaken to shed light on language profile around sociolinguistic question of who speaks what language to whom, when, where and why (Fishman, 1972) on mother tongue ... You find yourself in one of the greatest cultural and philosophical centers of the world, making it comparable to a visit to Boston or Oxford (Mare 196). Though its glory has gradually faded since its founding, the city retains its beauty. Certainly the lush, green trees and the rocky outcrops in the city would be attractive to you. But what draws your focus the most is the brilliant architecture of the city s buildings. Several temples dot the landscape, two of which demand your attention: the Hephaesteum, a building dedicated to the god Hephaestus (or Vulcan), and the Parthenon, a building dedicated to Athena (Arnold 384). The people who whisked Paul from Berea took him to Athens, and that is where we find him in the situation we formerly described (Acts 17:15). Upon arriving in Athens, we see Paul finding the idolatry of Athens disturbing as we did (Acts 17:16). Paul undoubtedly traveled around the city, but the idols he saw deeply troubled him. Luke states that Paul was provoked, or stirred as the King James Version renders it, in his spirit. This stirring was directly caused by the idolatry. But what does it mean to provoke someone s spirit? We tend to view provocation as negative, because when someone is provoked, he is angry, and that is usually bad news for us. We should not view the provocation of Paul negatively; rather, we should view it as honest anger (Kittel 5: 856). Though the same author who provides this viewpoint does not believe the provocation drove Paul to preach, the text indicates otherwise. The very next verse informs us that he reasoned in the synagogues and in the marketplaces as a result of what he saw (Acts 17:17). Paul s preaching, caused by the provocation we just discussed, afforded him incredible opportunities. He discussed Christ with the Jews, the Gentile worshipers, the frequenters of the marketplace, and even some philosophers (Acts 17:17 18). Though many of the individuals in the last group labeled ... • 35. Producing the First Atomic Bomb Introduction Uranium is a dense radioactive metal that is used in nuclear reactors. It is found in nature and has two large isotopes, U 235 and U 238. The energy that is produced in nuclear reactors is from the splitting or fission of the U 235 atoms. It releases energy in most cases in the form of heat; U 235 is the main splitting isotope of uranium. Uranium enriched is required to be in light water reactors, which allows controlled nuclear reaction. Processes for Uranium Enrichment When producing the first atomic bomb, scientists from the Manhattan Project thought about multiple processes for uranium enrichment, now we have a few that we use which is Gaseous Diffusion also known as Effusion, Gas Centrifuge, and Laser separation. Gaseous diffusion is a technology that produces enriched uranium by forcing uranium hexafluoride through pipelines and then pumped through filters called barriers. This makes it where there is a slight separation between molecules, which contain uranium 235, and uranium 238. There are hundreds of barriers because one barrier isn t enough to make uranium hexafluoride gas contain enough U238 that can be used in reactors. We only have on plant left and it is located in Paducah, Kentucky. The Gas Centrifuge was made to replace Gaseous Diffusion, it is a device that performs isotope separation of gases and it s the preferred way because it takes less time, and takes less energy. With roots in the Church of the Brethren, it is easy to trace where the organizational culture gets its roots. In fact their mission statement is to provide Christian educational opportunities, facilities, and programs for all ages in an inviting woodland setting; encouraging the formation of Christ centered living, leadership, and stewardship of creation, leading toward wholeness in the kingdom of God (Brethren Woods, 2017). These Christian beliefs are explicit in each camp week as the organization values events including bible study, vespers, and morning watch. They can also be seen in the expectations for employees from the dress code to the housing rules. Brethren Woods also gets much of their funding from Brethren churches surrounding the area. As stakeholders, these churches keep the camp accountable to their values because they do not want to put their money into an organization that does not align with their beliefs. All of these elements of the camp s organizational culture led to the way the handled the problem with their staff. First off, one of the elements of their mission is to form leaders in Christ. With their leaders exhibiting behaviors contrary to these values, something had to be done. Next, there was a culture set by the executive director and two co program directors that they wanted to perpetuate. They could not allow the culture to morph into something against their mission. A shadowed forest, the possibility of an Indian lurking in the dark ready to attack and the unknown are features of the wilderness in which created boundaries from the civilized town to the savage forest, from consciousness and waking to unconscious and dreaming. In Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown, the feeling of dread and the unknown draws itself into Brown s mind as he journeys into the gloomy forest. • 38. The Story Of Fun With Dick And Jane The story of Fun with Dick and Jane is one about a very up and coming business man who loses his job as a result of his employer s economic difficulty. Consequently, these circumstances leave his family not only in a financial crisis, but in clear and utter hopelessness. From the grass literally being pulled out of their front yard to their home foreclosure, Dick and Jane faced tragic difficulties that many others faced in the recent foreclosure crisis. Dick and Jane felt so desperate that they decided the most appropriate solution was stealing what they needed to feed their family. This sense of desperation is what all those recovering from a foreclosure feel. Often times if families survive the immediate hardships of foreclosure, then there are lasting ramifications such as poor credit, emotional stress, and the loss of their home that they must face. In addition, they will struggle with obtaining future loans, be subject to higher interest rates, and subject to higher security deposits for utilities. These circumstances make it entirely difficult to recover from foreclosure and next to impossible to own a home once again. However, among these trials there are methods those recovering from a foreclosure can use to obtain a home such as a land contract. A land contract is a way to purchase a home with financing through the seller rather than a bank. There is also a time period in which monthly payments are made, and at the end of that time the buyer must pay for the home. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He began by saying that he has plans to drain the swamp of Washington, DC. As apart of this statement, he promised to push for a constitutional amendment to impose term limits on congressional lawmakers. Not only will it end our government corruption, but we will end the economic stagnation that we are in right now , stated Trump. What Donald Trump is talking about is directly connected to the United States Congress and would have huge impact on Congress if gone through with. This is of considerable significance due to the fact that Congress is a fundamental part of the United States government. And changing it, would lead to major changes in how our government functions. Limiting congressional terms might have some unforeseen complications. For example, some states have placed term limits on their state legislatures, and have found that newly elected legislators tend to be more partisan and ideological than their more seasoned colleagues. Long serving lawmakers often become more understanding of the rival party and learn how to find workable compromises. The four functions of management are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. The planning function establishes a way to attain the desired objectives, resolve issues and facilitate action. The purpose of the planning function is to align the vision, culture, employees and the organizational structure with the strategies, and this involves multiple levels across the organization. Ultimately, planning is a needed function for business success (Huff 2009). The leading function of management assists the managers in administering and overseeing the performances of the staff. Leading allows management to give help to the employees by guiding them towards achievement of the organization s goals and also pursuit of their personal and career goals (Fontaine). The purpose of the organizing function of management is to identify the best people, design a structure and provide the needed resources to ensure the success of the organizational plans. Reviewing Waltz s Man, The State, And War Brittany Griffin POLS 6850 Book Review 14 November 2014 Reviewing Waltz s Man, the State, and War Throughout the years, scholars have attempted to solve the complex puzzle of why states make and refrain from making war (Sjoberg, 2012, p. 1). Kenneth Waltz uniquely approaches the puzzle through three levels of analysis, or as Waltz calls them, images: within man, within the structure of separate states, within the state system (Waltz, 1959, p. 12). To describe how each image approaches the causes of war, Waltz pulls from the work of prominent scholars, analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of each argument and image. Ultimately, Waltz contends that the third image, or the international system, is the most cogent explanation of the recurrence of war but that the three images are interrelated and all hold significance for advancing knowledge of the causes of war. First Image: Within the Nature of Man Waltz explains that the first image of international relations uses the nature and behavior of man to account for the important causes of war, consistent with the basic tenants of Classical Realism. Wars result from selfishness, from misdirected aggressive impulses, from stupidity, Waltz states. Other causes are secondary and have to be interpreted in the light of these factors (1959, p. 16). If the first image is correct in identifying the primary causes of war, then he asserts that it leads one to believe that men must be uplifted and enlightened if war is to be ...
