The Red Lilies By Claude Monet
First and foremost I wanted to thank you for the opportunity you gave us by going to the Legion
of Honor, I have to be honest I didn t know what to expect exactly but I was truly amazed at the
art work we were able to tour and receive information on. It was truly a breath taking experience
and I wanted to thank you for that. While all the pieces we were able to encounter were amazing I
was truly memorized by two of the paintings, the first one was The Annunciation by Master of the
Retable of the Reyes Catholics which was Renaissance and Water Lilies by Claude Monetwhich
was impressionism. It was really hard to pick but I choose to write about the Water Lilies by
Monet because I had a connection with the piece and I went back to it about five times.
Impressionism art can be considered the first distinctly modern movement in painting, it was
developed in Paris in the 1860 s but wasn t first exhibited until 1874. Impressionist art turned away
from the fine finish and detail that artist during the same time aspired to create. Impressionist
captured or at least tried to capture momentary, and sensory effect of a scene. Impressionist didn t
rely heavily on realistic depictions of an object or scene, they loosed the brushwork and lightened
their palettes to include intense pure colors. They didn t follow the traditional linear perspective
and clarity that previous art forms depicted to lesser ones. Many critics during the time faulted the
impressionist paintings because of that

Essay On Casablanca Movie
Casablanca Film Critique In the film, Casablanca, director Michael Curtiz uses screenplay,
cinematography, music and sound, and acting performances to highlight the pitfalls of
neutrality in both love and war. Humphrey Bogart (portraying Rick Blaine) and Ingrid Bergman
(portraying Ilsa) had an onscreen chemistry that just clicked. Through performance, I was able to
identify with Bogart because in life everyone will be given different ultimatums given on the
different life choices. People just have to learn which choice is the right one. Every time the
camera was on Bogart, he almost always looked ill/ or was sweating when he was faced with
making a difficult choice. Aside from Bogart sweating a lot, the audience would see Ilsa crying in
at least every other scene. Both Bogart and Ilsa got the audience to feel sadness and fear while the

The climatic scenes in the movie surround those moments when the characters are presented
with a choice. The ultimate final scene when Rick has to choose whether to be with Ilsa or
sacrifice his happiness for the greater good. Rick was telling Ilsa that you may not regret it now
but soon you will if you don t leave. The dialogue conveys this point as well when he tells her
that she needs to leave. Had the movie ended with Rick getting on the plane or with him
withholding the passes with Ilsa, it would ve been a letdown. The screenplay s use of flashbacks
heightens the plot by demonstrating how much Rick really loves Ilsa even though he pretends
to put up with her. Rick is conveying to Ilsa what he has learned in the final scene that you ve
got to sometimes make a choice when it is hard. The script in the dialogue was very genuine
because Rick is a cynic and his dialogue makes him seem like he knows it all and that he doesn t
get attached to anyone and it was really just a front for him being a soft

Essay On Forest City Basin
Abstract The Forest city basin is located in northwestern Missouri, northeastern Kansas,
southwestern Iowa, and southeastern Nebraska. The Forest City basin is represented mainly by
shales deposited as the sea withdrew (regressed) westward, although there are small isolated areas
in northern Missouri in which a marine limestone formed. A few locations in west central
Missouri have sandstone channels attaining a thickness of as much as 30 ft. within the Mine
Creek Shale (Manos). Introduction The Forest City basin is a bowl like feature in the subsurface
rock layers in northwest Missouri and adjacent portions of Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas. Some areas
bare oil and gas. The Forest City basin is a cratonic basin of Pennsylvanian age underlying adjoining
portions of southwestern Iowa, southeastern Nebraska, and northwestern Missouri. The... Show

These deposits were formed from vegetation that once grew along the edge of a brackish sea. It
took about 10 feet of vegetation to ultimately form about 1 foot of coal. All of the coal found in
eastern Kansas is bituminous, which is slightly softer and able to produces less energy than
anthracite coal (Sefton). The forest city basin contains substantial coal resources in numerous beds
too deep and thin to be mined by conventional methods. However, these coal beds have the potential
to produce commercial quantities of coalbed methane

Good vs Bad in a tale of two cities Essay
Good vs. Bad In the novel, A Tale of Two Cities Charles Dickens opens with an anaphora, about
how the world is throughout the novel. A reoccurring theme throughout this story is the battle
between good and evil. Most of the novel is about the struggles each force has and how most of
the time good triumphs over evil. In A Tale of Two Cities
, the triumph of love, the death of the
Marquis, and the contrast between Sydney Carton and Charles Darnay shows how good triumphed
over evil.
Throughout the novel, the power of love triumphed over evil. When Miss Pross fights Madame
Defarge to protect Lucie it shows Miss Pross s love towards Lucie. Miss Pross is like a mother to
Lucie and has been taking care of her for some time. Miss Pross ... Show more content on

Plus he does not want to share his wealth with anyone just like when a poor woman asks to have
a little money to buy her husband a head stone he just passes her like it is nothing. He shows no
regard for human life and that is why he needs to die. He rides his carriage through the streets
fast so he can see the peasants run and avoid being hit, and because he was doing this he ran over
a child. He acted like the child s life meant nothing and threw the father a few coins and kept
going. The cruelty and evil he delivered would die with him, and for the good of the people in
the town his death was an example how good triumphed over evil. Lastly, good did triumph over
evil in Sydney Carton. Sydney Carton is a drunk who hates Darnay because if Carton was not a
drunk he would have everything Darnay has, like the love of Lucie Manette. Carton is seen as
the darkness because of the disparity he has and how low he has fallen. Whereas Darnay is seen as
light or the good guy due to how his life is going. In the end when Sydney gives up his life for
Darnay it shows how Sydney is transferring from being sad and dark. His selfless act proved that
the bad Sydney Carton has saved Darnay and kept Lucie, Cartons love, happy.
The triumph of love, the death of Madame Defarege, and the triumph of Charles Darnay in trial
shows how good triumphed over evil. The theme of

and leave the classroom, but she resisted. Then, Deputy Ben Fields, a white officer, was called to
the scene. In a video of the confrontation between the police officer and the student it is obvious
that the force used in this incident was not appropriate. Deputy Ben Fields is shown grabbing the
girl forcefully, grabbing her with a choke hold and then tossing her desk aside. He then promptly
pulled her out of the desk and is shown sitting on her repeatedly saying Gimme your hands . An

The Deranged Mind In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
A creature is born, and thrust out into the world. With no evil in his heart, he is feared and
outcasted by society for only his repulsive image. He held an innocent soul and a pure heart at birth,
however the isolation and hatred he endured from others transformed him into a murderous demon.
This impaired soul is the abandoned monster created by Victor Frankenstein. Mary Shelley offers
insight into the emotions and mind of a man forced to become a fiend through betrayal in her
novel Frankenstein. Shelley s literary work of a deranged mind allows Sigmund Freud s
psychoanalysis theory to be applied in order to understand the torment that causes a once pure man
to go insane. In order to properly judge the innocence and purity of a man made... Show more

the harm he inflicted onto others weighed in his heart. Despite being equal to his human

The Steam Engine and Electricity Powered the Industrial...
The Steam Engine and Electricity Powered the Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution was an extremely important historical process in which the societies and
cultures in the West, and then throughout the world, transformed under the influence of
technological and scientific progress. The Western world, as industrialized as it is today, is the final
result. Two major inventions, the steam engine and electricity, were both crucial parts of the
technological progress that turned the wheels of the Industrial Revolution.
According to World History From 1500 by J. Michael Allen and James B. Allen, the Industrial
Revolution could not have happened without a new, reliable source of power (144). The steam
engine became such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1765 a brilliant Scottish inventor James Watt made a major improvement to the Newcomen s
engine; the resulting new engine required 75 percent less fuel. According to the History Channel
presentation, Money and Power, the new invention got immediate attention of a Scottish
businessman Roebuck, who bought two thirds of the patent. Later, unfortunately, the partnership
fell apart, and Watt found a new partner in 1774, Matthew Boulton. Together they built a new
water pump engine in five months, and by 1776 a few of the pumps were already in service. The
new engine was far more affordable and efficient than Newcomen s engine and greatly improved
the production in the areas it was used. But more tasks were awaiting the steam engine; new
machines in various branches of industry needed power. As Egon Larsen writes in A History of
Invention, Boulton badgered Watt to think of ways and means to convert the reciprocating
movement of the engine into a rotary one for use in factories and, later perhaps, for vehicles and
ships (37). Watt produced at least five different solutions. So, in the last quarter of the eighteenth
century, Watt s engines were running all over Britain and abroad serving as pumps, blasting
furnaces, and driving machinery in factories. As a result of these applications, In 1800 Great
Britain was producing more coal and iron than the rest of the world combined: 12 million tons of

Winston Churchill played a huge roll in World War II as well with his strategic ways and his
actions against Adolf Hitler himself. His background, legacy as a Prime Minister, and his
participation in World War II all show the legacy of Winston Churchill
.
Winston Churchill, whose full name is Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill, was born the 30th of

While he was in Cuba, he mainly reported the Cuban War and the Spanish Army for the Daily

The Pros And Cons Of Apartheid Schools
Although there is no apartheid law in place in the United States, there are still schools that
follow the same tradition. According to Tractenberg, Orfield, and Flaxman, every major city
examined by a federal court was found to have a long history of illegal public actions and
decisions which fostered segregation . As modern citizens, we should thrive for a diverse world
in which our students are not segregated whether by the color of their skin or social economic
status. Unfortunately, apartheid schools are prevalent in New Jersey which ranks 3rd in holding
black students and 5th in holding Latinos in apartheid schools. Although apartheid schools make
up 8% of all schools in New Jersey, they still hold 26% of black students and 13% of Latino s.
Most of apartheid schools are often in urban areas. In New Jersey, 12 districts that are 100%
segregated from other cultures and social economic status are Essex which holds three, two in
Hudson, and one each in Camden, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Passaic and Union. According to
the article, school segregation in New Jersey is worse than residential segregation . This statement
presents a strong representation of the segregation in school. Many would think that apartheid
schools are the result of the neighborhood however, that is not the case. Even white students who
live in poor neighborhood do not attend an apartheid school. The many factors that contributes to
segregation is residential segregation, racial differences, and

Role Of Punishment In Roman Times
INTRODUCTION During Roman times crimes were taken very seriously, much like they are
today. However the consequences of some of these crimes were much more severe than in
modern times. I will be showing you different punishments given to both types of crimes and
how they have changed since these times. The laws of the 12 tables is the earliest code of law
made by the romans and is also an early and surviving source of literature from Romans.
2THEFT The city of Rome was very busy so it was easy for people to steal. This crime was also
rarely committed by the wealthy as the poor were said to be more likely to take the things they

way as everyone else. 3MURDER Murders happened a lot in Rome. Roman emperors were often
killed. Another type of murder that had a terrible punishment was Patricide (killing your On this

The Book of Jonah Essay
It is thought that Jonah, the fifth of the Minor Prophets, lived during the reign of Jeroboam II,
when the kingdom was divided. (Lockyer, 198) Although the Book of Jonah is quite short, just
two and one half pages, it is not short on themes. Because there are so many themes it is hard to
classify or to determine its primary message. (Anchor 936 and New Interpreter s 490) These
themes range from running away, praying, second chances, anger, and God s compassion and
mercy, to name a few. The following will provide a brief explanation of each theme, previously
mention, as it relates to the Book of Jonah.
The first theme, running away and its consequences can be found in Chapter 1:1 2:1. Jonah is

Verse 5 states that each sailor cried to his god, which tells the reader that the sailors were pagans;
therefore, the later interpretation is more likely. (New Interpreter s 496) The sailors cast lots to
see whose fault it is for this situation. Using chance to find the perpetrator insinuates that it took
divine intervention to single out Jonah. (New Interpreter s 498) The sailors ask Jonah who he
was and where did he come from and Jonah s answer was I am a Hebrew. He also stated I
worship the Lord, the God of heaven who made the sea and the dry land. The sailors believe that
Jonah has brought the storm to them and asks What have you done? and What shall we do with
you? (New American 1011) Feeling the weight of his guilt of running away from God, Jonah tells
the sailors to throw him overboard. They comply unwillingly. Now the Lord still had a mission for
Jonah and so he sent a large fish to swallow him up, which is where he stayed for three days and
three nights. Certainly, the safest and simplest thing Jonah could have done would have been to go
to Nineveh and preach against the city; therefore, running away is never a better answer.
The second theme, prayer, occupies the majority of Chapter 2, specifically verses 3 10, the Psalm
of Thanksgiving . This is thought to have been a later addition to the story, due to the fact that
Jonah had not been saved yet. (Anchor 939) However,

Pharmacy Service Improvement at CVS
Rhiannon Graham

Redesign the Pharmacy Service Process at CVS Customer Value Store (CVS) is one of the
largest retail drugstores in the United States. CVS has over 4,000 stores and generated revenue of
24.2 billion dollars in 2002. CVS grew at the same rate as other major pharmacy chains, but
continued to lose millions of customers due to service issues. These problems led to the
implementation of the Pharmacy Service Initiative (PSI). In observations of various stores, as well
as interviews with employees, 67 major problems were identified. The steps in the service process
include drop off, data entry, production (prescription fulfillment), quality assurance, waiting for
pickup, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following data entry is the production or fulfillment step. This is the step where pharmacists
actually fill the prescriptions. The major problem encountered in this step is not having sufficient
inventory to fill a prescription. This can be frustrating for the pharmacist and the customer. A
possible solution to this problem is to fill the prescription in part; enough to get the customer
started on their medication, and then when new shipment arrives fill the remaining portion of
the prescription. This would require an entry to the customer s record so that employees know
the prescription was only partially filled. Also in order to implement this process, we would
need our suppliers to expedite shipping of our restock orders. As a market leader, CVS should
have no problem in getting its suppliers to work with them. Perhaps the most critical step in the
process occurs after the fulfillment step. This is the quality assurance step (QA). This is where the
pharmacists review the prescription to make sure the correct medication/dosages have been used in
filling the prescription. This step, though time consuming, is critical, and there are no changes that
should be applied to this step because of the extremely low margin for error. The last step in the
process is the pickup. This step is most likely the most frustrating one for customers, because often
when they come to pick up their prescriptions they are not ready yet. Much of this

Optimal Dh And Temperature Conditions Lab Report
Optimal pH and Temperature Conditions Comparative studies show that the optimum pH of
LDH from rabbit muscle ranges from pH 6.2 to 7.8 [6]. A pH rate profile graph in a study by
Fritz [6] reflects the results obtained in Figure 1, where the optimum pH was found to be 7.5 for
LDH extracted from rabbit muscle. This is further supported by the optimal pH of rabbit muscle
LDH obtained by another study [7], in which the pH is determined to be 7.5. Thus the results
obtained in Figure 1 fall consistent with literature values. In a study by Buhl et al., the optimal
temperature of LDH from skeletal muscle of aa human was 37oC[4], suggesting that denaturation
characteristics of the enzyme would be observed beyond this temperature condition [1].... Show

The low Vmax could be due to an incomplete reaction. However, despite the large difference in
Vmax between experimental and literature values, Figure 3 reflects similar data obtained in
similar studies [9]. Michaelis Menten graphs depicted by Figure 4 and Figure 5 show that all
concentrations of oxalic acid (0M, 0.01M and 0.03M) and oxamic acid (0M, 0.0200M and
0.0600M) ) seemingly saturate at the highest lactate concentration which was 95mM. In both
figures, LDH saturates the fastest in the absence of inhibitors, followed by 0.01M oxalic acid
and 0.0200M oxamic acid, and 0.03M oxalic acid and 0.0600M oxamic acid having the slowest
reaction rate respectively shown in Figure 4 and Figure 5. These results reflect the Michaelis
Menten graphs reproduced by experiments under similar conditions as explained by Powers et
al [9]. As predicted, Km and Vmax values obtained from the Michaelis Menten graphs in Figure
4 and Figure 5 do not correspond with Km and Vmax values obtained in the Lineweaver Burk
plot of LDH in Figure 3. The Vmax obtained in Figure 4 and Figure 5 were both 10.6ВµM/min in
the absence of inhibitor whereas the Vmax in the absence of inhibitor was 0.34 ВµM/min in
Figure 3. Lineweaver Burk plots allow for an accurate derivation of an enzyme s Km and Vmax
through an extrapolation of reciprocal values as opposed to the Michaelis Menten graph which
indicates a direct correlation of an enzyme s substrate

Comparative Analysis Of Strategies And Views Of Katha...
In this paper, comparative analysis of strategies and views of Katha Pollitt and Aaron Devor,
about the determinants which define roles of genders in a society will be discussed. The central
idea of the paper is that gender has specific roles which are defined through their innate
characteristics and social constructs. Since the start of feminist movements, a debate has arised on
the behaviors and roles of genders. Feminist movements were purposed to achieve, the rights of
women based on their roles equal to men in the society. Which led to debate over differences
between abilities and preferences of genderthat are the basis of different and unequal roles of males
and females.
Girls and boys have different preferences and divergent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to that people around that child will justify these sterotype behaviors by defining them
as natural roles which result from differences in hormones and genes. As she says, we are told that
the source of these robust preferences must lie outside society in prenatal hormonal influences,
brain chemistry, genes and that feminism has reached its natural limits. (Pollitt,1).
According to Devor, all female were biologically destined to have role of maternity and
household. There is a reason behind certain differences between biological structures and
cognitive behaviors of males and females. Hence, females were predisposed to have role of
maternity and children care while males do not have this role. He believes in hierarchical
appraisals of natural roles of males and females. If an individual performs duties which are
naturally attributed to opposite gender, that individual will not receive encouraging response from
society (Devor,674). Girls and boys are born different because of biological evolutions and gene
differences, thus different gender attributes start before birth. There are several biological
differences in physical structure as well as cognitive processes and intellectual traits of males and
females. These cognitive differences exist due to presence of some particular hormones in gender.
If these particular hormones are removed from an individual, he will no longer display
characteristics

Rendon was discussing a teacher s class that was in the meeting and reviewing the teachers data,

shocked that the new teacher wasn t offended or embarrassed, and accepted the help. I then
realized there was a great amount of trust that the teachers had with Mrs. Rendon. The teachers felt
supported and understood when Mrs. Rendon asked what the teachers needed, she was genuinely

Japan Women
To understand all modern or early modern states in a general sense is almost impossible; therefore,
a narrowing down is necessary here. This paper discusses solely about Japan and China, assumed as
early modern in this specific context, and the position of women, particularly prostitutes, within
them. Drawn from Amy Stanley s Selling Women and Matthew H. Sommer s Sex, Law, and
Society in Late Imperial China, it addresses the differences and similarities between the women of
China and Japan in sex trade to elaborate how women were subject to the gendered order along
socio economic changes. At the first glance, women in China and Japan in the early modern stage
were strikingly dissimilar. One of the most conspicuous differences lies in... Show more content on

Chinese women, if a commoner, were required to follow the social system which endowed sexual
monopoly of the husbands over the wives, whereas the situation of their Japanese counterparts is
similar in that the praising of indentured prostitutes who supported their families was a discourse to
help strengthen the patriarchal status system in early Tokugawa period. Certainly, the society
changed over time and so was the position of women within it. This is clearly seen in the expansion
of sex trade in Japan since the eighteenth century and the emancipation edict of jian status in 1723
in Qing China. However, this does not mean that women were freed from the gendered social cage.
As Sommer contends, the edict reinforced the gendered stratum, implicated in that as all women
were categorized as commoners, they were ultimately evaluated by their sexual history . In the
Japanese case, Stanley argues that Japanese prostitutes were never really autonomous in economic
terms. This accusation of being economic autonomous agents by the local elites and peasants
precisely evidences the patriarchal anxiety to maintain the gendered order

Essay On Natural Immunity Against Malaria
Natural Immunity against malaria:
Natural immunity against asexual stage parasites develops with repetitive exposure to malaria
parasites and thus forms the basis of clinical immunity against malaria (Baird, Jones et al. 1991,
Day and Marsh 1991, Trape, Rogier et al. 1994, Baird 1995, Baird 1998, Hviid 2005). Though
clinical immunity to malaria has been shown to develop in individuals, it does not prevent
reinfection due to several factors including the complex life cycle of the parasite and insufficiency
of the magnitude of effective antibodies. Susceptibility to P. falciparum was shown to be
independent of the number of years of exposure to the parasite, and age dependent protective
immunity developed over a two year period of repeated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

gametocytes are observed in the blood. These newly formed gametocytes developing as
intraerythrocytic stages present several new antigens to the human immune system during each
infection cycle. These immunologically identifiable forms are clear targets for the host immune
system and both innate and adaptive immune responses are expected to become active against
them. Naturally acquired antibodies against gametocytes exist (Graves, Carter et al. 1988, Paul,
Vengesai et al. 2016, Bansal, Vengesai et al. 2017, Gebru, Ajua et al. 2017) and may play a role in
controlling transmission by limiting the gametocyte development in the circulation or by
interrupting gamete development and fertilization in the mosquito following ingestion. In particular
antibodies against Pfs48/45 and Pfs230 gametocyte proteins effectively target male and female
gamete surface and block mosquito stage development of the malaria parasites.
Analysis of investigations carried out in areas of different malaria endemicity have shown wide
variation in the frequency and prevalence of these antibodies (Bousema and Drakeley 2011).
Studies have demonstrated that while natural immunity does develop against sexual stages, little is
known about age dependent pattern of the antibodies. Age dependency of the humoral response can
be associated with repetitive exposure to the parasite (Graves, Wirtz et al. 1988,

The Worst Sort Of Husband By Daniel Defoe
The Worst Sort of Husband Daniel Defoe
The Worst Sort of Husband by Daniel Defoe was written to explain the different types of husbands
women deal with and their personalities. This analysis goes in depth on how diverse husbands can
be. There are five different husbands described in the analysis: the Drunken Husband, the
Debauched Husband, the Fighting Husband, and the Extravagant Husband. Each husband
described was a male s point of view of men for a sober woman s knowledge on who she wants to
marry. The author, Daniel Defoe was an English writer that lived in the 1700s. Daniel Defoe did
not always have this name because he changed his name to something that he personally thought
was professional. Defoe wanted his name to sound more like a gentleman s name and that is the
name he chose. Defoe was a very famous writer in the 1700s in London, England and was
acknowledged by all his written work. Personally, I believe Daniel Defoe wrote this article out of

Response To Nozick s Mental State Theory Of Wellbeig
Hedonism is a form of wellbeing theory about what is best in our interest and what is good for us.
According to hedonism, wellbeing relies solely on pleasure experienced. Although there are some
hedonist theories that values extrinsic pleasure, in this essay we will be looking at hedonism that
values pleasurefelt from inside, i.e., hedonismas a mental state theory of wellbeing. This theory has
met quite a numbers of objections. We will focus on one such popular objection developed by
Robert Nozick. Nozick challenged the mental state theories of wellbeing with his thought
experiment about an experience machine. This objection is sought out as ultimate weapon to
knockdown hedonism (Weijers 2010, pp. 1). There has been attempts made to defend hedonism
from this objection. Few of these responses will be discussed to determine if they are able to
successfully overcome Nozick s objection. Pleasure and pain mentioned will automatically refer to

face the truth and pursue another interest that you are talented at, for it would give you more

Abstract. The article reviewed was Director Overlap, Ethical Financial Reporting, and
Improvements in Disclosure Quality. The key of the abstract is to emphasize the positive influence
of independent audit committee on the ethical financial reporting, corporate disclosure, and
company ethical environment overall (p. 183).
Introduction. The author studies the relationships between the director overlap and financial
reporting quality, and for that purpose, analyzes the compensation measurement system and how it
tights to performance (p. 183). The researcher also focuses on the impact of audit committee on the
reporting and disclosure. The main objective of the research is to examine the impact of director
overlap on earnings, compensation of executives and independence of the audit committee on
financial performance, ethical financial reporting, and disclosure. The importance of the study lies
in analysis of the control issues, equity based measures, interests of shareholders, managers ability
to prevent fraud, independent financial experts, ethics requirement for reporting, and SEC ethics
rule. The author considers two problems: how the level or degree of audit committee independence
affect the quality of financial reporting; and the relationship between cash incentives and
compensation (p. 184).
Literature Review. The author uses a systematic review of literature in the research. The literature
review is categorized into two parts: study the relationships

Coach Carter Hero
When thinking of a hero, the first idea that comes to mind is a person that receives admiration
due to the acts in which they perform. With that said, a person that I personally admire is Ken

experience he gained to become a head basketball coach at Richmond High School, a rough inner
city school filled with below average students. Coach Carter accepted the job hoping to change this
disturbing trend of grades. He turned a disappointing team of young men into superb athletes, but
more importantly better students with the use of his strict coaching technique. I see Coach Carter

Secondary Transfer Effects Of Intergroup Contact

Katharina Schmid, Miles Hewstone, Beate KГјpper, Andreas Zick and, Ulrich Wagner, the
secondary transfer effect theory is tested in eight European countries including France, Germany,
Hungary, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, and The United Kingdoms. The aim of this
study is to test the extent to which the relationship between intergroup contact and attitudes toward
the two secondary out groups is mediated by attitudes toward the primary group (Schmid et all,
2012: 33) which they developed two hypotheses for the results which they tested using a
questionnaire and over seven thousand participants. The two hypotheses were that persons who had
good experiences with immigrants would have positive opinions towards immigrants and that
higher levels of social dominance orientation(Pratto et all, 1994: 741) will be associated with
unfavourable opinions towards homosexuals and Jews (Schmid et all, 2012: 33 35). The authors
found different results between countries, in regards to each hypothesis, and whether or not a
country fell in line with these predictions. The authors found that intergroup contact with
immigrants was by large associated with less negative attitudes toward [the] two secondary out
groups (44). Whether or not the positive opinions of one group will generalize to other groups not
involved with interaction, is an under addressed topic within the contact

process has been a success for the day.
Seasonal Factors Seasonal factors are defined as the amount of correction needed in a time series

How To Calculate Child Support
Child support is not just handed out without a process in the Corona family law sector. There are
guidelines on how to calculate child support and what the non custodial parent and custodial parent
are responsible for when it comes to their minor child s overall care and well being.
Three Common Factors of Calculating Child Support
1)The number of minor (or incapacitated/disabled dependent) children that require financial support.
2)The amount of quality parenting time each of the parents will have with the children.
3)The disposable income of each parent, which is not taken from your gross income, but instead

It is known as medical support. This is another factor that can raise or lower the support amount.
The guidelines are designed so that the insurance amount won t go over five percent of the gross
income of the parent who is carrying it. The parent who pays for the health insurance coverage gets
to use the amount as a deduction on the child support worksheet and is part of the calculation.
What that means is that the amount of actual financial child support will be lowered since the court
considers both incomes, therefore both parents are essentially paying for the health coverage
regardless of which one carries it.
Child support is a complex and detailed process even with the strict calculation guidelines in place.
The parents can agree upon an amount or the court may adjust the amount according to the situation.
Regardless of your situation, you need to hire a Corona divorce attorney to help you come to an
agreement or help settle things in the courtroom. Ideally, the goal is for both parties to come to a
reasonable agreement about child support, but that is not always possible. If litigation is necessary,
you will be pleased that you chose an attorney whether you pay or receive child

Booch and OMT and announced Unified Method 0.8 (UM 0.8) at the conference OOPSLA in

John Stuart Mill Limitations
Freedom of speech has been a controversial topic for many years. It has not been controversial in
the sense of whether or not countries should have it, but whether or not there should be certain
limitations on free speech. John Stuart Mill believes that the Harm Principle should be the only
limitation on free speech. Raphael Cohen Almagor believes that there should be an extension of
the Harm Principle called the Offence Principle. The problem is finding the limitation between the
two of the different principles. I believe that the Offence Principle is a necessary extension of the
Harm Principle, but there needs to be a line between what is considered offensive and what is not.
John Stuart Mill was an English philosopher who wrote On Liberty. In On Liberty, Mill discusses
the importance and the limitations that should be set on free speech. Mill is more tolerant of free
speech and language rights, but he also believes that there should be limitations on free speech so
there is regulation on the actions of people under free speech (Mill John Stuart, 1975).
Mill stated in On Liberty, But the peculiar evil of silencing the expression of an opinion is that it is
robbing the human race; as well as the existing generation; those who dissent from the opinion, still

Feinberg believed that an Offence Principle should be established as an extension of the Harm
Principle that Mills argued. Mills Harm Principle only covered physical harm, but not
psychological harm (Cohen Almagor R, 1993). That is why Feinberg believed there should be an
extension of the Harm Principle. The Offence Principle would not only cover physical harm, but
psychological harm as well. He also believes that offense is a less serious thing than harm, and that
it is not taken into consideration that psychological harm could lead to physical harm or serious

Many famous music artists of today have SoundCloud to thank, like the recent prominent rapper
Willie Maxwell II, known professionally as Fetty Wap. It was April of 2014 when Maxwell II
uploaded the track Trap Queen, which quickly became the anthem of the summer (John). By the
end of summer, Trap Queen had reached eleven million plays on SoundCloud, which led to a record
deal with 300 Entertainment
(Gruger). In addition to Maxwell II, SoundCloud also helped music artists like electronic dance
musician Skrillex, hip hop rapper Post Malone, and house musician Kygo.
In contrast, Spotify s direction is to provide its listeners with songs for everyone of life s moment.
Spotify accomplishes this goal by creating playlists for specific genres and moods. For example,
such playlists include Country, R amp;B, Rock, Holidays, Good
Vibes, Mood Booster, Romance, Workout, and Focus. In addition, Spotify s goal is also to allow
its users to access Spotify from anywhere through the use of mediums like
Davidson 2 computers, smart phones, tablets, home entertainment systems, cars, gaming consoles,
and such.
Being strikingly different from SoundCloud, the music selection of Spotify is of the already famous
musicians of the industry. Therefore, Spotify helps broadcast and promote the already well known
music artists.

Aspects Impacts of Porous Pavements Essay
Short Memo: Aspects Impacts of Porous Pavements The purpose of this short memo is to discuss
aspects of use, applicability, and environmental impacts of porous pavements as gleaned from
practical findings and pertinent examples. A porous pavement is one with high enough porosity
and permeability to allow rain and snowmelt to pass through it, thereby reducing the runoff from
a site and surrounding areas. In intensely built up areas, pavements account for more than half of
all the land, and for about two thirds of total built cover (Ferguson, 2005, 2 3). Parking lots, in
particular, account for the majority of paved areas. Pervious paving materials have the capability

1999). This base serves as a reservoir for stormwater runoff where water is allowed to infiltrate
to underlying permeable soils or is redirected through an overflow drain system. Filter fabric is
placed beneath the aggregate subgrade to prevent fine particles from moving into the soil bed.
Essentially, porous pavement infiltrates and treats rainwater where it falls (Ferguson, 2005, 10).
The pore space and aggregate base act as rainwater retention, reducing runoff during storm events.
Further, particles and pollutants are removed from the water flow through the filtration process,
with the underlying soils acting as a second filter treatment area and as a water recharge basin.
Use Applicability Porous pavements are particularly functional as low volume traffic surfaces
and parking areas and have been used for over thirty years. Early installations continue to function
as both parking lots and stormwater management systems. Cahill Associates (CA) designed one
of the first large scale porous parking lots for an office park in a Philadelphia suburb. The design
consists of porous asphalt parking bays terraced down a hillside and connected by conventional
traffic lanes. The site is over 20 years old, has not needed repaving, and has staved off sinkholes in
an area prone to them. CA attributes this to even distribution of stormwater through infiltration and
particularly to the aggregate reservoir below the surface. Through other projects, CA has found that

Pride And Arrogance In Oedipus The King
Throughout the play, Oedipus The King, Oedipus excessive pride and arrogance,
known as hubris, is the first major trait within himself that leads to his tragic demise.
This makes him see himself as being perfect and flawless, on a level with the gods and is
shown as arrogance and an impulsive temper. Oedipus arrogant form of hubris is first
shown in the very beginning of the play when Oedipus says: Here I am, myself, world
famous Oedipus. (6) In this instance, he is very proud of his fame for being the one to
solve Sphinx s riddle. A second example of his hubris is shown when he rejects the
ideas of fate and of gods being in control of lives. When the oracle makes predictions

Tiresias by saying: While you re here you are a hindrance, a nuisance; once out of the

temper is also expressed when he accuses Tiresias of murdering Laius. Oedipus accuses
Tiresias by saying: I am angry enough to speak out...I think that you helped to plan the
murder of Laius yes... (21). After being accused by Oedipus, Tiresias declares Oedipus
to be the one who murdered Laius. Oedipus also frequently shows a short and hot
temper when discussing with Creon. When the two discuss if Oedipus wants Creon

Laius and murderer. Even though there is no evidence of Creon murdering Laius,
Oedipus puts the blame on Creon as he is impatient and frustrated over not being able to

into a global phenomenon. Many companies have started using the Internet with the aim of cutting
marketing costs, thereby, reducing the price of their products and services in order to stay ahead in
highly competitive markets. Customers use the Internet not only to buy the product online, but also

Psychological Analysis Of The Sniper
The Sniper Analysis
War can bring many disastrous effects to countries, societies, the economy, and the mentality of
those involved in it. In The Sniper, the protagonist is a republican sniper trying to kill the sniper
on the opposing side of the the Irish civil war. At the end of the story the republican sniper
cleverly outsmarts the opposing sniper, unknowingly killing his brother. Liam O Flaherty s The
Sniper conveys the horrors of war not only by presenting its physical dangers, but also by showing
its psychological effects. The short story The Sniper presents to the reader with the physical
dangers of war. The story takes place in a civil war, where a country is essentially at war with
itself. In paragraph nine O Flaherty writes, The sniper raised his rifle and fire. The head fell
heavily on the turret wall. The woman darted toward the side street. The sniper fired again. The
woman whirled around and fell with a shriek into the gutter. The old woman who was shot by
the sniper was an informer for the opposing side. While she did not pose as a major hazard for
the sniper, he believed she was an imminent threat to his safety and kills the old woman. In
paragraph one of the story the author also writes, Here and there through the city, machine guns
and rifles broke through the silence of the night, spasmodically, like dogs barking on lone farms.
These paragraphs show how easily civilians are killed during war. An old woman who was an

Surgical Wound Care Case Study
Problem 1
Wound Care
Justification
Dougherty and Lister (2011) stated that it is important to keep post surgical wound free from
infection because the healing of the wound depends on the amount of care being provided. There
are potential complications associated with infected post surgical wound, which includes wound
dehiscence, surgical site infection, and hematomas. These complications often occur within hours
after surgery, so therefore, high priority should be place on wound care for a patient who has had
a resection of recto sigmoid tumor and is left with a laparotomy wound.

Present Day In American Culture
This essay has had a deliberate focus on gnomic, historical quotes in order to emphasise the
importance of the past. In truth, however, so much of history is unrecorded, so many lines of it
unrecorded. Without archaeology, all information on proto historic civilisations would only be from
written accounts, and there would be no information whatsoever on prehistoric civilisations.
Archaeology can even serve to explain modern trends. The present day has been influenced so
much by the pastthat the two are inextricably linked, and learning about the past can tell so much
about the present today. Equally, so much about the past can be explained using present rituals.

Modernists promote the rationale of managerial control because they view the members different

Comparing The Battle Of Waterloo And The Battle Of...
Drill and discipline, are what make it possible for a victory in battle. If warriors going into battle
are not accurately trained in the practice of drill and discipline it can result in a mere senseless

1415 is was a battle between King Henry V of England whom wanted to reclaim lands both won
and lost during the previous century from France which was under the rule of King Charles VI

the chaos in battle must have put pressure of numbers and desperation [which evenly] caused the
French to spill from their columns resulting an unorganized and disastrous attack against the
English. In the battle of Waterloo there are noticeable changes compared to the battle of Agincourt
besides the change in weapons. The first is the size and organization of military units on the field
as show in John Keegan s diagram, cavalry and infantry are spread throughout the field with
artillery placed within infantry units, this is has created a spread out line rather than a tight knit
line used in the battle of Agincourt, allowing more movement and opportunity to inflict more

The United States Legislative Branch Of Government
The United States legislative branch of government is best described as bicameral meaning of two
houses where two governing bodies separately but functionally unitedly oversee the law making
duties of the country. The two houses of the legislative branch are the Senate and the House of
Representatives which both have distinct but crucial duties regarding key decisions affecting
anywhere from individual districts to the United Statesas a collective entity. Members of the House
of Representatives and the Senate (altogether called Congress ) belong to one of the two main
American political parties; republicans or democrats. While a third party does exist they are
substantially irrelevant in the current governing system. The third, independent, party does not
achieve the popularity to be a representative heuristic of the people of America. By nature a
democracy should reflect upon the needs and wants of the citizens of that democracy therefore
bureaucrats in the House of Representatives and the Senate are appointed their seats in congress
through direct election. The House of Representatives serves as a representation of the population
of a single district; a district being an area of a state divided evenly among other districts in the
state based on population results from the U.S. Census. Districts can be reapportioned every ten
years depending on the current population in a certain geographical area in a state. In a simplified
form, larger states are given more seats

Voltaire Candide
Francois Marie Arouet de Voltaire was the French author of the novella Candide, also known as
Optimism (Durant and Durant 724). Voltaire s Candide is a philosophical tale of one man s search
for true happiness and his ultimate acceptance of life s disappointments. Candide grows up in the
castle of his uncle, a German baron, along with his optimistic scholar, Pangloss, and his young,
beautiful cousin, CunГ©gonde. When Candidefalls in lovewith CunГ©gonde and his uncle sees
them kissing, Candide is thrown out of his home and enrolls in the Bulgar army. After being

Voltaireuses Pangloss and a contrasting character, Martin, to point out the shortcomings in Leibniz
s philosophy.
A contrast to the views of Pangloss is the character Martin. Martin, a pessimist, is a friend and
advisor to Candide whom he meets on his journey. Martin continuously tries to prove to Candide
that there is little virtue, morality, and happiness in the world. When a cheerful couple is seen
walking and singing, Candide tells Martin, At least you must admit that these people are happy
(80). Martin answers Candide s comment with the reply, I wager they are not (80). Martin suggests
that Candide invite the couple to dine at his hotel. As the young girl, now found to be Paquette, tells
her story, Martin takes pleasure in knowing he has won the wager.
Another contrast to this best of all possible worlds is Eldorado. Voltaire describes Eldorado as an
extremely peaceful and serene country. Eldorado, a place that is impossible to find, has no laws,
jails, war, or need for material goods. Voltaire uses Eldorado as an epitome of the best of all
possible worlds. It contrasts the real outside world in which war and suffering are everyday
occurrences.
Another example of how Voltaire ridicules Pangloss optimistic philosophy is the mention of the
Lisbon earthquake and fire. Even though the disastrous earthquake took over 30,000 lives, Pangloss
still upheld his

  • 2. The Red Lilies By Claude Monet First and foremost I wanted to thank you for the opportunity you gave us by going to the Legion of Honor, I have to be honest I didn t know what to expect exactly but I was truly amazed at the art work we were able to tour and receive information on. It was truly a breath taking experience and I wanted to thank you for that. While all the pieces we were able to encounter were amazing I was truly memorized by two of the paintings, the first one was The Annunciation by Master of the Retable of the Reyes Catholics which was Renaissance and Water Lilies by Claude Monetwhich was impressionism. It was really hard to pick but I choose to write about the Water Lilies by Monet because I had a connection with the piece and I went back to it about five times. Impressionism art can be considered the first distinctly modern movement in painting, it was developed in Paris in the 1860 s but wasn t first exhibited until 1874. Impressionist art turned away from the fine finish and detail that artist during the same time aspired to create. Impressionist captured or at least tried to capture momentary, and sensory effect of a scene. Impressionist didn t rely heavily on realistic depictions of an object or scene, they loosed the brushwork and lightened their palettes to include intense pure colors. They didn t follow the traditional linear perspective and clarity that previous art forms depicted to lesser ones. Many critics during the time faulted the impressionist paintings because of that ... • 3. Essay On Casablanca Movie Casablanca Film Critique In the film, Casablanca, director Michael Curtiz uses screenplay, cinematography, music and sound, and acting performances to highlight the pitfalls of neutrality in both love and war. Humphrey Bogart (portraying Rick Blaine) and Ingrid Bergman (portraying Ilsa) had an onscreen chemistry that just clicked. Through performance, I was able to identify with Bogart because in life everyone will be given different ultimatums given on the different life choices. People just have to learn which choice is the right one. Every time the camera was on Bogart, he almost always looked ill/ or was sweating when he was faced with making a difficult choice. Aside from Bogart sweating a lot, the audience would see Ilsa crying in at least every other scene. Both Bogart and Ilsa got the audience to feel sadness and fear while the side... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The climatic scenes in the movie surround those moments when the characters are presented with a choice. The ultimate final scene when Rick has to choose whether to be with Ilsa or sacrifice his happiness for the greater good. Rick was telling Ilsa that you may not regret it now but soon you will if you don t leave. The dialogue conveys this point as well when he tells her that she needs to leave. Had the movie ended with Rick getting on the plane or with him withholding the passes with Ilsa, it would ve been a letdown. The screenplay s use of flashbacks heightens the plot by demonstrating how much Rick really loves Ilsa even though he pretends to put up with her. Rick is conveying to Ilsa what he has learned in the final scene that you ve got to sometimes make a choice when it is hard. The script in the dialogue was very genuine because Rick is a cynic and his dialogue makes him seem like he knows it all and that he doesn t get attached to anyone and it was really just a front for him being a soft ... The Forest City basin is represented mainly by shales deposited as the sea withdrew (regressed) westward, although there are small isolated areas in northern Missouri in which a marine limestone formed. A few locations in west central Missouri have sandstone channels attaining a thickness of as much as 30 ft. within the Mine Creek Shale (Manos). Introduction The Forest City basin is a bowl like feature in the subsurface rock layers in northwest Missouri and adjacent portions of Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas. Some areas bare oil and gas. • 5. Good vs Bad in a tale of two cities Essay Good vs. Bad In the novel, A Tale of Two Cities Charles Dickens opens with an anaphora, about how the world is throughout the novel. A reoccurring theme throughout this story is the battle between good and evil. Most of the novel is about the struggles each force has and how most of the time good triumphs over evil. In A Tale of Two Cities , the triumph of love, the death of the Marquis, and the contrast between Sydney Carton and Charles Darnay shows how good triumphed over evil. Throughout the novel, the power of love triumphed over evil. When Miss Pross fights Madame Defarge to protect Lucie it shows Miss Pross s love towards Lucie. Plus he does not want to share his wealth with anyone just like when a poor woman asks to have a little money to buy her husband a head stone he just passes her like it is nothing. He shows no regard for human life and that is why he needs to die. He rides his carriage through the streets fast so he can see the peasants run and avoid being hit, and because he was doing this he ran over a child. He acted like the child s life meant nothing and threw the father a few coins and kept going. The cruelty and evil he delivered would die with him, and for the good of the people in the town his death was an example how good triumphed over evil. Lastly, good did triumph over evil in Sydney Carton. Sydney Carton is a drunk who hates Darnay because if Carton was not a drunk he would have everything Darnay has, like the love of Lucie Manette. Carton is seen as the darkness because of the disparity he has and how low he has fallen. Whereas Darnay is seen as light or the good guy due to how his life is going. In the end when Sydney gives up his life for Darnay it shows how Sydney is transferring from being sad and dark. His selfless act proved that the bad Sydney Carton has saved Darnay and kept Lucie, Cartons love, happy. The triumph of love, the death of Madame Defarege, and the triumph of Charles Darnay in trial shows how good triumphed over evil. The theme of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Steam Engine and Electricity Powered the Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution was an extremely important historical process in which the societies and cultures in the West, and then throughout the world, transformed under the influence of technological and scientific progress. The Western world, as industrialized as it is today, is the final result. Two major inventions, the steam engine and electricity, were both crucial parts of the technological progress that turned the wheels of the Industrial Revolution. According to World History From 1500 by J. Michael Allen and James B. Allen, the Industrial Revolution could not have happened without a new, reliable source of power (144). In 1765 a brilliant Scottish inventor James Watt made a major improvement to the Newcomen s engine; the resulting new engine required 75 percent less fuel. According to the History Channel presentation, Money and Power, the new invention got immediate attention of a Scottish businessman Roebuck, who bought two thirds of the patent. Later, unfortunately, the partnership fell apart, and Watt found a new partner in 1774, Matthew Boulton. Together they built a new water pump engine in five months, and by 1776 a few of the pumps were already in service. The new engine was far more affordable and efficient than Newcomen s engine and greatly improved the production in the areas it was used. But more tasks were awaiting the steam engine; new machines in various branches of industry needed power. As Egon Larsen writes in A History of Invention, Boulton badgered Watt to think of ways and means to convert the reciprocating movement of the engine into a rotary one for use in factories and, later perhaps, for vehicles and ships (37). Watt produced at least five different solutions. So, in the last quarter of the eighteenth century, Watt s engines were running all over Britain and abroad serving as pumps, blasting furnaces, and driving machinery in factories. As a result of these applications, In 1800 Great Britain was producing more coal and iron than the rest of the world combined: 12 million tons of coal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Tractenberg, Orfield, and Flaxman, every major city examined by a federal court was found to have a long history of illegal public actions and decisions which fostered segregation . As modern citizens, we should thrive for a diverse world in which our students are not segregated whether by the color of their skin or social economic status. Unfortunately, apartheid schools are prevalent in New Jersey which ranks 3rd in holding black students and 5th in holding Latinos in apartheid schools. Although apartheid schools make up 8% of all schools in New Jersey, they still hold 26% of black students and 13% of Latino s. Most of apartheid schools are often in urban areas. In New Jersey, 12 districts that are 100% segregated from other cultures and social economic status are Essex which holds three, two in Hudson, and one each in Camden, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Passaic and Union. According to the article, school segregation in New Jersey is worse than residential segregation . This statement presents a strong representation of the segregation in school. • 12. Role Of Punishment In Roman Times INTRODUCTION During Roman times crimes were taken very seriously, much like they are today. However the consequences of some of these crimes were much more severe than in modern times. I will be showing you different punishments given to both types of crimes and how they have changed since these times. • 13. The Book of Jonah Essay It is thought that Jonah, the fifth of the Minor Prophets, lived during the reign of Jeroboam II, when the kingdom was divided. (Lockyer, 198) Although the Book of Jonah is quite short, just two and one half pages, it is not short on themes. Because there are so many themes it is hard to classify or to determine its primary message. (Anchor 936 and New Interpreter s 490) These themes range from running away, praying, second chances, anger, and God s compassion and mercy, to name a few. The following will provide a brief explanation of each theme, previously mention, as it relates to the Book of Jonah. The first theme, running away and its consequences can be found in Chapter 1:1 2:1. Jonah is called by God to go to Nineveh and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Verse 5 states that each sailor cried to his god, which tells the reader that the sailors were pagans; therefore, the later interpretation is more likely. (New Interpreter s 496) The sailors cast lots to see whose fault it is for this situation. Using chance to find the perpetrator insinuates that it took divine intervention to single out Jonah. (New Interpreter s 498) The sailors ask Jonah who he was and where did he come from and Jonah s answer was I am a Hebrew. He also stated I worship the Lord, the God of heaven who made the sea and the dry land. The sailors believe that Jonah has brought the storm to them and asks What have you done? and What shall we do with you? (New American 1011) Feeling the weight of his guilt of running away from God, Jonah tells the sailors to throw him overboard. They comply unwillingly. Now the Lord still had a mission for Jonah and so he sent a large fish to swallow him up, which is where he stayed for three days and three nights. Certainly, the safest and simplest thing Jonah could have done would have been to go to Nineveh and preach against the city; therefore, running away is never a better answer. The second theme, prayer, occupies the majority of Chapter 2, specifically verses 3 10, the Psalm of Thanksgiving . This is thought to have been a later addition to the story, due to the fact that Jonah had not been saved yet. (Anchor 939) However, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cvs Pharmacy Pharmacy Service Improvement at CVS Rhiannon Graham PID: 3634552 Redesign the Pharmacy Service Process at CVS Customer Value Store (CVS) is one of the largest retail drugstores in the United States. CVS has over 4,000 stores and generated revenue of 24.2 billion dollars in 2002. CVS grew at the same rate as other major pharmacy chains, but continued to lose millions of customers due to service issues. These problems led to the implementation of the Pharmacy Service Initiative (PSI). In observations of various stores, as well as interviews with employees, 67 major problems were identified. Following data entry is the production or fulfillment step. This is the step where pharmacists actually fill the prescriptions. The major problem encountered in this step is not having sufficient inventory to fill a prescription. This can be frustrating for the pharmacist and the customer. A possible solution to this problem is to fill the prescription in part; enough to get the customer started on their medication, and then when new shipment arrives fill the remaining portion of the prescription. This would require an entry to the customer s record so that employees know the prescription was only partially filled. Also in order to implement this process, we would need our suppliers to expedite shipping of our restock orders. As a market leader, CVS should have no problem in getting its suppliers to work with them. Perhaps the most critical step in the process occurs after the fulfillment step. This is the quality assurance step (QA). This is where the pharmacists review the prescription to make sure the correct medication/dosages have been used in filling the prescription. This step, though time consuming, is critical, and there are no changes that should be applied to this step because of the extremely low margin for error. The last step in the process is the pickup. This step is most likely the most frustrating one for customers, because often when they come to pick up their prescriptions they are not ready yet. Much of this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is further supported by the optimal pH of rabbit muscle LDH obtained by another study [7], in which the pH is determined to be 7.5. In this paper, comparative analysis of strategies and views of Katha Pollitt and Aaron Devor, about the determinants which define roles of genders in a society will be discussed. The central idea of the paper is that gender has specific roles which are defined through their innate characteristics and social constructs. Since the start of feminist movements, a debate has arised on the behaviors and roles of genders. (Pollitt,1). According to Devor, all female were biologically destined to have role of maternity and household. There is a reason behind certain differences between biological structures and cognitive behaviors of males and females. Hence, females were predisposed to have role of maternity and children care while males do not have this role. He believes in hierarchical appraisals of natural roles of males and females. If an individual performs duties which are naturally attributed to opposite gender, that individual will not receive encouraging response from society (Devor,674). Girls and boys are born different because of biological evolutions and gene differences, thus different gender attributes start before birth. Drawn from Amy Stanley s Selling Women and Matthew H. Sommer s Sex, Law, and Society in Late Imperial China, it addresses the differences and similarities between the women of China and Japan in sex trade to elaborate how women were subject to the gendered order along socio economic changes. Chinese women, if a commoner, were required to follow the social system which endowed sexual monopoly of the husbands over the wives, whereas the situation of their Japanese counterparts is similar in that the praising of indentured prostitutes who supported their families was a discourse to help strengthen the patriarchal status system in early Tokugawa period. Certainly, the society changed over time and so was the position of women within it. This is clearly seen in the expansion of sex trade in Japan since the eighteenth century and the emancipation edict of jian status in 1723 in Qing China. However, this does not mean that women were freed from the gendered social cage. As Sommer contends, the edict reinforced the gendered stratum, implicated in that as all women were categorized as commoners, they were ultimately evaluated by their sexual history . In the Japanese case, Stanley argues that Japanese prostitutes were never really autonomous in economic terms. Analysis of investigations carried out in areas of different malaria endemicity have shown wide variation in the frequency and prevalence of these antibodies (Bousema and Drakeley 2011). This theory has met quite a numbers of objections. We will focus on one such popular objection developed by Robert Nozick. Nozick challenged the mental state theories of wellbeing with his thought experiment about an experience machine. While Carter disapproved of this behavior, he knew that if he kicked Cruz off the team that the young man s life would continue to spiral downward. Keeping this in mind, Coach Carter allowed Cruz to stay on the team; however, he continually talked to him about leaving the gang life. Carter s true love was seen when Cruz s cousin who was in the gang with him was shot during a drug deal. Cruz arrived at Carter s house in the middle of the night with blood on his hands asking for help. Rather than leaving the distraught Cruz out in the streets, Coach Carter took him into his house and was able to remove him from the gang life. Later on, Coach Carter helped Cruz play basketball in college, an achievement nobody ever thought would be a part of Timo Cruz s life. The aim of this study is to test the extent to which the relationship between intergroup contact and attitudes toward the two secondary out groups is mediated by attitudes toward the primary group (Schmid et all, 2012: 33) which they developed two hypotheses for the results which they tested using a questionnaire and over seven thousand participants. The two hypotheses were that persons who had good experiences with immigrants would have positive opinions towards immigrants and that higher levels of social dominance orientation(Pratto et all, 1994: 741) will be associated with unfavourable opinions towards homosexuals and Jews (Schmid et all, 2012: 33 35). The authors found different results between countries, in regards to each hypothesis, and whether or not a country fell in line with these predictions. This is another factor that can raise or lower the support amount. The guidelines are designed so that the insurance amount won t go over five percent of the gross income of the parent who is carrying it. The parent who pays for the health insurance coverage gets to use the amount as a deduction on the child support worksheet and is part of the calculation. What that means is that the amount of actual financial child support will be lowered since the court considers both incomes, therefore both parents are essentially paying for the health coverage regardless of which one carries it. Child support is a complex and detailed process even with the strict calculation guidelines in place. A porous pavement is one with high enough porosity and permeability to allow rain and snowmelt to pass through it, thereby reducing the runoff from a site and surrounding areas. In intensely built up areas, pavements account for more than half of all the land, and for about two thirds of total built cover (Ferguson, 2005, 2 3). This base serves as a reservoir for stormwater runoff where water is allowed to infiltrate to underlying permeable soils or is redirected through an overflow drain system. Filter fabric is placed beneath the aggregate subgrade to prevent fine particles from moving into the soil bed. Essentially, porous pavement infiltrates and treats rainwater where it falls (Ferguson, 2005, 10). The pore space and aggregate base act as rainwater retention, reducing runoff during storm events. Further, particles and pollutants are removed from the water flow through the filtration process, with the underlying soils acting as a second filter treatment area and as a water recharge basin. Use Applicability Porous pavements are particularly functional as low volume traffic surfaces and parking areas and have been used for over thirty years. Early installations continue to function as both parking lots and stormwater management systems. Cahill Associates (CA) designed one of the first large scale porous parking lots for an office park in a Philadelphia suburb. The design consists of porous asphalt parking bays terraced down a hillside and connected by conventional traffic lanes. The site is over 20 years old, has not needed repaving, and has staved off sinkholes in an area prone to them. CA attributes this to even distribution of stormwater through infiltration and particularly to the aggregate reservoir below the surface. Through other projects, CA has found that ... Therefore, modernist theorists sought mechanisms such as cybernetic and bureaucratic control for their employees in order for organisation interests to be met and self interest to be minimized (Hatch Cunliffe, 2006). When organisations apply cybernetic theory, it explains how their executives align individual goals and organisational control using performance evaluation, resource allocation and through reward and feedbacks mechanisms (Hatch Cunliffe, 2006). They further stated that positive deviations were rewarded while the negative were used ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 56. Comparing The Battle Of Waterloo And The Battle Of... Drill and discipline, are what make it possible for a victory in battle. If warriors going into battle are not accurately trained in the practice of drill and discipline it can result in a mere senseless blood brawl ending with large amounts of casualties and grave losses. In the battle of Agincourt 1415 is was a battle between King Henry V of England whom wanted to reclaim lands both won and lost during the previous century from France which was under the rule of King Charles VI although the army outnumbered the English, it was in this battle the French suffered many casualties due to poor strategy. In the battle of Waterloo 1815 two hundred years later it was a battle between the English army commended by the Duke of Wellington and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, though their Calvary was great it was foolish to send them off against archers though the men wound not be completely harmed by the arrows horses would be put into a panic and their own men would be trampled by their horses. The French had set themselves up for failure as the chaos in battle must have put pressure of numbers and desperation [which evenly] caused the French to spill from their columns resulting an unorganized and disastrous attack against the English. In the battle of Waterloo there are noticeable changes compared to the battle of Agincourt besides the change in weapons. The first is the size and organization of military units on the field as show in John Keegan s diagram, cavalry and infantry are spread throughout the field with artillery placed within infantry units, this is has created a spread out line rather than a tight knit line used in the battle of Agincourt, allowing more movement and opportunity to inflict more damage on the enemy. The second noticeable difference is the men used in battle, rather than it being aristocratic vassals of the king and their vassals, it was men as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. The United States Legislative Branch Of Government The United States legislative branch of government is best described as bicameral meaning of two houses where two governing bodies separately but functionally unitedly oversee the law making duties of the country. The two houses of the legislative branch are the Senate and the House of Representatives which both have distinct but crucial duties regarding key decisions affecting anywhere from individual districts to the United Statesas a collective entity. Members of the House of Representatives and the Senate (altogether called Congress ) belong to one of the two main American political parties; republicans or democrats. While a third party does exist they are substantially irrelevant in the current governing system. The third, independent, party does not achieve the popularity to be a representative heuristic of the people of America. By nature a democracy should reflect upon the needs and wants of the citizens of that democracy therefore bureaucrats in the House of Representatives and the Senate are appointed their seats in congress through direct election. The House of Representatives serves as a representation of the population of a single district; a district being an area of a state divided evenly among other districts in the state based on population results from the U.S. Census. Districts can be reapportioned every ten years depending on the current population in a certain geographical area in a state. In a simplified form, larger states are given more seats ... • 58. Voltaire Candide Francois Marie Arouet de Voltaire was the French author of the novella Candide, also known as Optimism (Durant and Durant 724). Voltaire s Candide is a philosophical tale of one man s search for true happiness and his ultimate acceptance of life s disappointments. Candide grows up in the castle of his uncle, a German baron, along with his optimistic scholar, Pangloss, and his young, beautiful cousin, CunГ©gonde. When Candidefalls in lovewith CunГ©gonde and his uncle sees them kissing, Candide is thrown out of his home and enrolls in the Bulgar army. After being beaten for wandering from camp, Candide flees to Holland and runs into an ugly beggar, who he is told to be Pangloss. He tells Candide that CunГ©gonde and her family have been... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Voltaireuses Pangloss and a contrasting character, Martin, to point out the shortcomings in Leibniz s philosophy. A contrast to the views of Pangloss is the character Martin. Martin, a pessimist, is a friend and advisor to Candide whom he meets on his journey. Martin continuously tries to prove to Candide that there is little virtue, morality, and happiness in the world. When a cheerful couple is seen walking and singing, Candide tells Martin, At least you must admit that these people are happy (80). Martin answers Candide s comment with the reply, I wager they are not (80). Martin suggests that Candide invite the couple to dine at his hotel. As the young girl, now found to be Paquette, tells her story, Martin takes pleasure in knowing he has won the wager. Another contrast to this best of all possible worlds is Eldorado. Voltaire describes Eldorado as an extremely peaceful and serene country. Eldorado, a place that is impossible to find, has no laws, jails, war, or need for material goods. Voltaire uses Eldorado as an epitome of the best of all possible worlds. It contrasts the real outside world in which war and suffering are everyday occurrences. Another example of how Voltaire ridicules Pangloss optimistic philosophy is the mention of the Lisbon earthquake and fire. Even though the disastrous earthquake took over 30,000 lives, Pangloss still upheld his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
