Essays On Dowry
Crafting an essay on the topic of dowry is undeniably a challenging endeavor. This subject
delves into a complex web of social, cultural, and economic dimensions, demanding a nuanced
understanding and a delicate touch in articulating thoughts. The difficulty arises not only from
the need for thorough research but also from navigating the sensitive nature of the topic.
To begin with, one must delve into the historical roots of the dowry system, tracing its evolution
through different societies and cultures. Understanding its implications on gender dynamics,
family structures, and societal norms is crucial. Simultaneously, a comprehensive examination of
the legal frameworks surrounding dowry, coupled with statistical data on its prevalence and
impact, adds layers of complexity to the research process.
The challenge lies in presenting a balanced perspective that encapsulates the multifaceted nature
of dowry. Addressing the sociocultural aspects requires careful consideration of traditions,
societal expectations, and the role of gender in shaping these practices. At the same time,
acknowledging the economic factors influencing dowry, and the financial burdens it may impose
on families, adds depth to the analysis.
Moreover, expressing these intricate ideas in a coherent and engaging manner demands skillful
articulation. Navigating the fine line between academic rigor and accessible language is essential
to ensure that the essay resonates with a diverse audience. Furthermore, handling the emotional
aspects tied to the topic with sensitivity requires a thoughtful approach to avoid perpetuating
stereotypes or oversimplifying the issue.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the subject of dowry necessitates a blend of research acumen,
cultural sensitivity, and effective communication skills. It is a task that goes beyond the mere
compilation of information, urging the writer to navigate through layers of historical, cultural,
and social intricacies. Only through a meticulous and thoughtful exploration can one hope to do
justice to the gravity of the topic.

Ethos Pathos And Logos
A parent will never know what goes on in the mind of their child, all a parent can do
is shield the child from the negatives of life and hope negativity never enters their
mind. Author Bruno Bettelheim wrote The Uses of Enchantment, published in 1976,
the book contains an essay called Fairy Tales and the Existential Predicament, in
which Bettelheim presents a psychological perspective of the impact that traditional
fairy tales have on children. Bettelheim begins his essay with personal knowledge,
rhetorical appeals (pathos and, logos) and textual evidence. In his essay, Bettelheim
sets the stage by reaching out to to his audience, he writes overcoming narcissistic
disappointments, oedipal dilemmas, sibling rivalries; becoming able to relinquish...

Essay on Self-Analysis
Self Analysis
Before taking this course my writing styles and habits were very different. I was the
typical procrastinator because I would wait until the night before a paper was due to
start it. This did not allow me enough time to properly proofread everything, which
resulted in getting points deducted for simple grammatical errors that could have
been avoided if I would have had the time to proofread. My writing styles have many
strengths and weaknesses and I have been able to improve my writing because of
them. I have learned from my strengths and weaknesses how to become a better

I can write a thesis that will give an overview about what main topic of the paper is
and what other elements will be addressed in the paper. From taking this course I
have been able to improve many of my weaknesses, but there are still some that I
need to work on. Overall I am becoming better at not procrastinating as much as I
used to. This class has helped me to learn to take the little steps along the way
because then there will not be as much work to do towards the end. This has also
made me realize that the final product of my writing will turn out better because it
will have had more time to develop, which means that there would have been more
opportunities to proofread. I think by learning many styles of writing, such as
paraphrasing, summarizing, analyzing, and researching; it has enabled me to be
able to write more broadly. By knowing how to correctly use all of these kinds of
writing styles, it will help me in the future for other classes because I will have the
knowledge that I need to write these types of papers. I still procrastinate sometimes,
but not as much as I used to. I will be able to improve on this as time goes along
because I will become more motivated by seeing the end result, which usually would
be better grades.
Overall I think that my most of my writing habits have improved and for the ones
that have not I know what they are and what I need to do to improve them. My

Introduction . In High Acute Settings, Such As Intensive
Introduction
In high acute settings, such as intensive care units essential nursing care such as oral
care is very vital to prevent life threatening complications such as nosocomial
acquired, Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP), and also most patients in intensive
care are on oral intubation, and medications such as anticholinergics,
antihypertensives, which may lead to xerostomia (dry mouth). One of the challenging
nosocomial infections is VAP, and a leading cause of mortality in hospital patients in
high acuity settings (Jones, 2007). The development of VAP is occurred due to
mechanical ventilation, longer ICU stays and longer intubation periods, increasing
the mortality of ICU patients to as high as 70 per cent (Jones, 2007). Good ... Show

Which may further lead to prioritising oral care as a less priority for nurses than other
aspects of care (H. Jones et al., 2004). In turn, even the tapes that are used in the
fixation of the tube quickly become heavily contaminated with the bacterium in the
existence of salivary secretions and the hitches associated with cleaning the mouth
(Abidia, 2007). So, they have greater susceptibility to nosocomial acquired infections
such as ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP) (Zurmehly, 2013). Patients who are
intubated are also forced to keep their mouths open which leads to xerostomia,
caused due to dryness of oral mucosa (Miranda, de Paula, de Castro Piau, Costa,
Bezerra, 2016). Furthermore, patients who may have some medical conditions have
oral manifestations such as diabetes, Crohn s disease, Leukaemia (H. Jones et al.,
2004). In order to prevent these life threatening complications, it is important to
prioritise oral care as an essential nursing priority in high acuity settings by doing
appropriate and more frequent oral assessments followed by mouth care with an
evidence based approach.
Oral Assessment
To initiate interventions, patients oral care requirements are to be identified. To
process and evaluate, assessment needs to be performed. Evidence suggested oral
assessment should be performed using a checklist within the 24 hours

is not whether you re going to land the part or not, is to prepare yourself to become
this character!

My audition wasn t believable; I think during the middle of my journey it looks like
I ve become apathetic, especially during a time where I should ve shown how much I
wanted this girl.
When I got out of my character (when I disconnected) I stopped listening because I
became nervous: like I stopped acting and all the sudden was aware that I had all
these stage lights cameras on me.
I didn t use my environment.
When I m re watching film, I couldn t see myself being authentic in those moments,
like that s not how I would act; knowing myself, I think I d come off as more shy
and awkward during this date.
I got lost in the page.
My Criticism: Take everything personally! What s your need! If you re feeling
overwhelmed with remembering the technicalities of preparing for your cold read, as
well as taking stage direction, just focus on the need. Knowing your need is the most
important thing that can help you prepare for an audition.
Maybe to help you better associate yourself with the character, remember three

Essay about The Pride of Othello
The Pride of Othello
In Shakespeare s Othello, Othello s pride prevents him from finding the truth,
eventually leading to his demise. Initially, Othello and Desdemona are deeply in
love, despite her father s disapproval of their marriage. However, when Othello
promotes Cassio instead of Iago to Lieutenant, Iago has his revenge by convincing
Othello that Desdemona cheats on him with Cassio, destroying the marriage between
Othello and Desdemona. Othello grows to meet his downfall when his trusted friend
Iago causes him to think that his wife Desdemona is unfaithful.

Othello s and Desdemona s love holds true. They cannot stand living apart for a
long period of time. Brabantio also knows that Desdemona will only show her
loyalty to Othello, so he would rather have her away with Othello than home with
him. Much later, Othello and Desdemona again show each other their love. Othello
plans revelry for the evening in celebration of the defeat of the Turks and in
celebration of his marriage to Desdemona. Once the celebration begins, Othello
leaves Cassio on guard and departs to consummate his marriage: Come, my dear
love, / The purchase made, the fruits are to ensue; / The profit s yet to come `tween
me and you (II.iii.9 11). Othello only wishes for the best from his new marriage
with Desdemona. He shows no sign of any desire for anything bad to happen.
Othello s and Desdemona s marriage stays free of problems because their love for
each other stays strong.
However strong Othello s and Desdemona s marriage seems, it begins to deteriorate
as a result of Othello s self pride. At first, Iago convinces Othello that Desdemona is
unfaithful. Iago suggests to Othello that Desdemona slept with Cassio. Iago uses a

Essay on Majestica Hotel in Shanghai
MAJESTICA HOTEL IN SHANGHAI?
On March 20, 2005, Richard Roy, executive vicepresident of Majestica Hotels Inc.,
was in China, for negotiations with Commercial Properties of Shanghai Limited
(CPS). They were discussing a possible management contract under which Majestica
would be the operator of a new luxury hotel there owned by Shanghai Industrial

Majestica Hotels Inc. was one of the world s leading operators of luxury hotels. The
expansion into mainland China had been on management s agenda since 1999. The
opportunity emerged in late 2003 when a close friend of Majestica s chief executive

While Majestica expanded quickly in North America, it adopted a gradual
expansion strategy in Asia. This gradual expansion strategy shifted when the
opportunity arose to acquire a major competitor in Asia in 1998. This acquisition
made Majestica one of the world s largest operators of luxury hotels and resort
properties. More importantly, it provided Majestica with a much expanded
position in Pacific Asia and an immediate presence in the greater China area.
Majestica continued its international expansion by amassing a select portfolio of
medium sized luxury hotels in the world s commercial and financial centres. By
the end of 2004, Majestica managed 40 properties in 15 countries with
approximately 20,000 employees. The contribution of Majestica s properties in North

The report states that there is a correlation between increased daily temperatures and
increased deaths, illnesses and hospitalizations and that living in urban areas
increases vulnerability to heat exposure. These higher temperatures in urban areas are
attributed to a lack of vegetation, waste heat from vehicles and buildings and the size
of the city. Low income neighborhoods are especially vulnerable as they lack the
resources to adapt to the heat. The study reports that green projects reduce exposure

Causes And Effects Of Overpopulation
When the human population rises to an extent exceeding the carrying capacity, it is
called Overpopulation. In an environment that is overpopulated the number of people
may be more than the resources available for survival such as water, shelter, and food.
Overpopulation contributes greatly to environmental damages, poor quality of life or
disintegration of the population. This paper will talk about the main factors of
overpopulationand the effects it has on the planet. Population continues to grow
around 81 million yearly, a big contributor to this is decline in mortality rates
medical breakthroughs, increased birth rates and education, this can lead to
overcrowding and poor quality housing. Overpopulation is the basis of most
problems we face worldwide today, like global warming and world famine. A major
problem in cities is crime rate. Overpopulation contributes greatly to crime rates as
overcrowding leads to poor living conditions, young adults in particular may take
desperate measures and turn to crime and drugs. Overpopulation may be the single
greatest threat to our planet, to the environment and to our resources. Many
developing countries are experiencing this currently Every day it is a struggle
for the people to find food, water and shelter. They live in poor conditions; their main
goal is to survive.
The survival of humans on earth depends on a sustainable supply of resources,
especially fresh water and food. If they are not available in sufficient
Theme Of Desire Under The Elms
This thesis is written in an attempt to analyze the symbolic meanings of the elms in
Desire Under the Elms from possible angles. The two elms show up at the very
beginning of the play, impressing us with a sinister maternity in their aspect, a
crushing, jealous absorption. (O Neill, 1925:1)
One of the themes in this play is the Oedipus complex coined by Freud, revealed
through Eben s obsession with his mother. His addiction to her even brings about the
hatred for both his father and brothers, who all seem to be responsible for his
mother s death from Eben s point of view. It is exactly the Oedipus complex deeply

The root of the elm buries itself deeply in the ground and reaches out for anything
that will satisfy its need, symbolizing the concealed part of the unconscious mind,
the instinctual drives and the source of desires and impulses. In the story, the
protagonists are all seized by the strong and ungovernable desire. Eben s half
brothers expects freedom and the chance to leave the land and head for California.
Eben indulges himself in maternal love, for which the departure of his mother
leads to his anxiety and insecurity as well as his obsession with her possession, the
land and the parlor. Abbie pursue a complete control of the farmhouse as well as
Eben s love. And it is her id entices her to murder the baby in order to win back
Eben s love, blinding her guilt and her love for her own baby. Cabot shows an
ambition of achieving something great, hoping to acquire both wealth, love and
respect, with an eagerness to run away from terrible loneliness. All of the portrayals
of these characters accord closely with the title: Desire Under the Elms. Those
desires are intangible. However, through the conflicts of the story, we are able to feel

Oglethorpe founded Georgia to give people that owes debts to be given a chance
to earn money after being released from jail. Oglethorpe ran for parliament in after
the Turkish war and won to be a member. He then decided to reform jails all over
London because his friend Robert had to share a jail with someone who had
smallpox; Robert contracted smallpox and then died. Oglethorpe need somewhere
for the prisoners to go after they have been released because of the lack of job and
opportunity. The government allowed him to form a new colony and sailed to

Plantations usually ranged from 500 to 1000 acres that produce about 5000 plants.
The main colony that do plantation are the southern colonies, Maryland, Virginia,
South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. The reason the south did more of
plantation is because the geography and climate is just right for planting and
harvesting. Georgia has great geography because there are hilly plains, fertile soil,
forest, along rivers, and swamps. What the plantation owner does is sell crops to
make a profit; a plantation owner harvests tobacco, rice, sugar cane, and indigo are
all called cash crops. Cash crops are worth a lot of money. Plantation owner has
little trouble transporting crops because there are many waterways and southern
colonies have docks which makes it easy to tie ships to the port. Harvesting crops
and making lots of money require lots of labor work, and that is why plantation

Meditation Reflection
Ever since I was a little girl my parents made it clear that I needed to do this or that
because it reflects what type of family I was raised into. My family is very well
known in a small little town in Northern Michigan. Anything that I did that was
against my parents expectations was corrected in private, and then expected next
time we went out. My family was persistent on being represented well. They valued
things like respect. My mom grew up in a family where they all went to a catholic
church every Sunday so it is viewed as a ritual that my she always took part in.
Therefore, if she was to go to church, then I was too. From the time that I was a
baby until I was 16 I never had the choice to choose what I wanted or what I
believed. So how was I supposed to understand other religious views that people held
if I wasn t able to learn about them? The day I questioned my own religionwas the day
that I became myself. I started reading. I started learning. I started meditating. I
explored the unknown natural surrounding that had never been exposed to me....

What is meditation? Meditation is a conscious state of breathing techniques to
enhance our mind, focus on something, and create a sense of awareness of one s
environment. In essence, it s like the nervous system; interpreting signals throughout
the body to relay information to the brain, and being aware of what s going on
around us. With this comes equanimity: composure and an evenness in a difficult
situation. Equanimity is something that I ve learned from meditation. As your
meditating you should feel very calm and composed, this is how we would like to
feel all the time. Unfortunately, our bodys have fight or flight responses to react
quickly to the environment. So by training our body and brain to react to situations
that are out of our control as calm and composed, it will help you make better
decisions in future

An Examination of the Music of Garth Brooks Essay
For generations, singers and songwriters of country music have been working to
evoke emotions in listeners by performing and writing songs that the listeners will
be able to relate to. Country music traditionally reveals stories of life, love, death,
and values, all of which can be seen in the works of great singers and songwriters
like George Strait, Alabama, Brooks Dunn, and Alan Jackson. One artist in particular,
Garth Brooks, forever left his stamp on country musicand on the hearts of his

is a strong presence of the fiddle and steel guitar in the song which helps direct
emotions, that is to say it helps guide how listeners should feel. The tempo of the
song varies throughout, starting high, turning lower, and then returning high. The
vocals of the song also vary, as Garth Brooks utilizes his ability to hit a wide range of
musical notes. Lyrically, the song tells a story that conveys many strong emotions and

Stanley Pinter s Film Character Analysis
Though the present is an outcome of past contemplations and actions, Pinter does
not reveal the past as he wants the audience to think about the various possible ways
in which past can influence the present. Furthermore by leaving the interpretations
open to the audience, Pinter tries to portray that historical archives as storehouses
of narratives of the past, cannot be fully relied upon, as these are narratives written
in accordance to the dictates of those in power and as such are biased in their
interpretations. As the play proceeds, Stanley, in a long monologue, tells Meg of a
concert, he once gave. The concert was a great success and Stanley gives an account
of it: STANLEY: (To himself.) I had a unique touch. Absolutely unique. They

The physical and mental torture meted out to Stanley leaves an indelible scar in
his mind and gives birth to his great fear against all forces that coalesce to form a

secure place and surrounded by familiar, innocuous people like Pete, Meg and

the extent, that Stanley vents out his frustration by madly beating the toy drum
which he gets as a birthday present (though he denies it is his birthday) from Meg.
The savagery of Stanley s reaction on receiving the toy drum is also effected by
Stanley s despair at being treated like a child by Meg. A toy drum is usually gifted
to a child. Meg gifts Stanley a toy drum as he is a musician and also because she
feels the child in Stanley will like the gift. But what she fails to understand is that by
being a mother surrogate to Stanley, she has made Stanley dependent on her to an
extent that is disliked by Stanley himself. Stanley s disgust for the mother er Meg
and his attempt to free himself from her (abject s) clutches is thus reflected in his

What Is Crocs Competitive Advantage
Crocs Strategy for Competitive Advantage
With revenue from Crocs shoe sales reaching to $680 million in 2007, it is clear that
the company has developed a successful strategy. Not all of the success can be
contributed to the design of the product. Although their products were in high
demand, there are more underlying factors that have paved the way for Crocs to be
competitive in the shoe market. Crocs supply chain design and use of vertical
integration revolutionized speed and quality of order fulfillment.
Traditionally, the shoe industrywas seasonal and based on projections of future
trends. Retail stores would need to place orders several months before the shoes
would even hit the shelves. As orders were made early in the year, manufacturers
would begin production for shipment later in the year. Since inventory supply
depended on expected sales, stock could not be quickly replenished as it ran out.
The executives at Crocs decided to branch out from the traditional production
schedules and develop a lean production model. As sales increased or decreased,
Crocs managed to speed up and slow down production throughout the year to quickly
replenish depleted inventory. Since the shoes were easily made with the foam mold
design, rapid production and order fulfillment came easily for Crocs. This approach
attracted the attention of many footwear retailers. With Crocs shoes being made to
order, stores could more easily control inventory without worrying about a

An individual s identity is shaped by many aspects of their life, but the ones where
they either experienced hardship or were oppressed are the most prominent in
defining their identity. Individuals who identify as LGBTQ often have to deal with
issues of inequality in their everyday lives, because the dominant group, straight
individuals, create an environment where others feel oppressed. In many situations
the dominant group feels as though anyone not like them needs to change, and
because they believe sexual orientationis a choice, they should just be straight. The
importance of maintaining individualfreedom, even when laws that oppress people

While he was talking about race, the argument still applies to sexuality, and necause
LGBTQ individuals had to endure this injustice it was not only their privilege, but
their right to take action against it. Taking this initiative to create an equal society
was best accomplished through nonviolent resistance. Martin Luther King Jr., a large
proponent of nonviolent campaigns, writes about how there are four basic steps in
creating a campaign. First the collection of the facts to determine whether injustice
exists, which in this case it does based on the definition of an unjust law. Next, self
purification, this is having the confidence to unwaveringly believe in a cause and not
stray from non violence resistance. Third direct action which is used to create enough
tension in the community so that something happens, in this case causing friction
between the government and LGBTQ individuals. Finally, negotiation, where people
worked with the government to change the law so that LGBTQ individuals have the
right to get married. While, this does not have an affect on societal view it at least
makes individuals freedoms legal. Martin Luther King Jr., believe in talking the
initiative to challenge unjust laws that revoke personal freedom and accepted all
sorts of punishment, from the dominant group, for it. This was similar to what
LGBTQ individuals were willing to do for equality, but with regards to sexual
orientation not race. Individual expression is another way that the

The article How Stress Causes Disease explains how I became ill recently
(Carnegie Mellon University, 2012). My boss called with a proposed job status
change for me from full time to part time which would mean a loss of benefits and
50% cut in pay. The thought of losing my job devastated me not only because it
pays my bills, but because I love what I do. Facing this situation has made it
difficult to concentrate and sleep. My appetite diminished and I had a hard time
eating. I cried and my mood was very sad. I fell ill within 3 weeks of receiving the
news of this life altering event. My body was more vulnerable to illness because my
immune system was less sensitive to the cortisol levels over time, allowing the
inflammation to go unchecked, causing illness to attack my body (Carnegie Mellon

A Brief Look at Steven Spielberg
Steven Allan Spielberg is known worldwide as a screenwriter, producer and one of
America s most successful filmmakers. His 20 highest grossing films grossed 8.45

children Stephen, Anne, Sue and Nancy.
In school, he often sat at home and watched TV. The portable 8 millimeter movie

For centuries Classical societies have lent their contributions to art and have
amazed us then and still continue to do so. Art is a broad topic and in order for us
to explain a specific piece of art we must first analyze the artwork precisely. I am
choosing art from Classical Greece, Hellenistic Greece, Etruscan Civilization, Roman
Republic, and Roman Empire society and I will examine a piece of art from each of
those periods. The art works that I have chosen from each period are Polykleitos the

He brought about a mingling of Eastern and Western cultures through his policies and
conquests, he also believed in interracial marriages. He brought people together
through his means as well as their history and their cultures.
The Etruscan Civilization has many artworks that show the type of people they
were. The Tomb of Reliefs was one such piece of art. This type of tomb was used to
bury families and this particular tomb could hold as much as forty bodies. Much like
the Egyptian tombs these tombs were furnished with gold, weapons and vases which
made it a target for grave robbers. The relationship between the art and the culture
shows the value this civilization places on family, that even after death they remain
together. The culture influence that genre of art because this civilization placed pride
in their families and wanted to know that even in death they are comfortable. The

Examples Of Authority In The Truman Show
One of the first ways of thinking that applies to the Truman Show is Authority .
Everything in Truman s life is constructed by a corporation, led by Christof the
director, whose main intention is to make a profit from his reality show. Authority is
a prevalent theme in the film, and comes to the fore through the distribution of media
in Seahaven which attempts to control its viewers through indoctrination. The media
strives to integrate him by governing his personal thoughts and actions leading him to
a sense of what are right and wrong. For example, his middle school teacher had
restricted his dream of becoming an explorer by making him believe that everything
had already been discovered. Within the corporation, Christof is controlling him and
approaches Truman without any real physical or social engagement but only through
external forces such as the actors. In the Truman Show, the actors are like the hands
of Christof and Truman is being moulded and restrained into their ideal form.
The way in which Truman attempts breaks free of the authority that rules his life is

In this heated argument, the characters, Sylvia and Christof strongly represent both
separate sides of individualistic human belief of morality. Sylvia, who was formerly

production of the Truman Show for Christof s own selfishness. On the other hand,
Christof, who believes he has given Truman a chance to lead a new life apart from
the external unpleasant world. The film requires critical distancing from these media
landscape perceptions and not to be manipulated by it in order to understand the

Due to the prevalence of green advertising as a marketing strategy, extensive research

Now, more than ever, consumers are displaying a heightened interest in
environmental issues, lending itself to the prominence of green advertising strategies.
In turn, companies are recognizing the value of communicating their efforts to Do no
harm to the environment. As such, these companies are adopting various marketing
strategies to inform consumers that their products are environmentally friendly (for
instance, pesticide free labels), and concerned for the well being of people ( fair trade
labels are an example) (Fisher et al, 2012).
For the purpose of this study, the definition of green advertising will be adapted from
the criteria provided by Banerjee, Gulas, and Iyer (1995). Green advertising is an ad
which meets one or more of the following criteria: explicitly or implicitly addresses
the relationship between a product and the environment; promotes a green lifestyle
through highlighting a product; presents a corporate image of sustainability and
environmental stewardship (1995). Sustainability is the term embodied by companies
who strive to communicate their efforts to satisfy the triple bottom line , which takes
into account the wellbeing of people, planet, and profits (Fisher, Bashyal, and
Bachman 2012).
While research has indicated a consumer preference for environmentally preferable
products, there appears to be a significant gap between environmental beliefs and
action (Gabler, Butler, Adams 2013; Kronrod and Wathieu 2012; Peattie, K. and

(3)OEC s objective
OEC s key objective was to get the major car manufacturers in the US to adopt their
new engine. (3) Key issues Highlights
3.1Two Wise Decision (261)
OEC had made at two wise decisions to get the major car manufacturers to adopt
their new engine in the US. First of all, OEC developed a pricing policy for its
intellectual property at the early stage that it built up a series of licence options for
car manufacturers, such as General Motors, Ford, Fiat, Jaguar and Volkswagen to
evaluate the technology and needs before converting into their final licence
agreement. Kotler et al (2007, pp.318, 590) mentioned that, A method of entering a
foreign market in which the company enters into an agreement with a licensee in the
foreign market, offering the right to use a manufacturing process, trademark, patent,
trade secret or other item of value for a fee or royalty...More and more for profit and
not for profit organisations are licensing their names to generate additional revenues
and brand recognition. This brand recognition of licensing became one of the key
profit generators for OEC.
Secondly, OEC made another wise decision on joint venture with Brunswick
Corporation, the parent of Mercury Marine in January 1995, became METEOR. This
joint venture helped to develop, manufacture, market and sell Orbtal s SEFIS to the
global market for low emission two stroke engines, which was threatened by
Bribri And Kokogi Summary
The Bribri civilization of Costa Rica/Panama and the Kogi civilization of Colombia
were believed to be a secondary area to the Mesoamerican and South American
civilizations. However, differences began to surface that distinguished the Bribri and
the Kogi from civilizations of Mesoamerica. They formed part of the Isthmo
Colombian Area, therefore similarities were expected to exist between the Bribri and
the Kogi. These similarities were understood through the rituals that the Bribri and
Kogi practiced. Nevertheless, there are a few links that tie the Bribri and the Kogi
civilization back to the Mesoamerican civilization. The Bribri and the Kogi share
similar rituals despite belonging to different descendent cultures. First, the Bribri and

A sacred crop that created and nourished human life. Another similarity between the
civilizations of the Isthmo Colombian Area and the Mesoamerican civilization is the
concept of primordial time. In the case Bribri when the shaman was conducting the
healing ceremony he had to wait until night in order strengthen memories of
generations of shaman masters. The day was dedicated to daily activities. We see
primordial time through the change of day and night. The night takes the shaman
back into the memories of previous generations. Similarly, we see this in the Maya a
Mesoamerican civilization. In the case of the Maya we see how time never occurs in
a linear matter in the origin
IIAM Foundation s Scholarship Analysis
Because of my history of academic achievement, I believe that I am a deserving
recipient of the IIAM Foundation s scholarship. Throughout my entire life, I have
always strived for academic excellence, putting in the extra effort needed to rise to the
top. The effort that I have put forth in school has perpetuated my understanding of the
importance of obtaining a quality educationafter high schoolgraduation. Unfortunately
for the individual looking to push forward in his academic career, a bachelor s
degree, while not only generally requiring an additional four years, also requires a
substantial amount of money in order to pay for attendance. This poses an interesting
conflict to the aspiring collegestudent: to pursue continued education and be forced
to pay for college in one form or another or to refrain from attendance. While
college was never an option for me, I have always understood its importance in
helping me build a successful career and never had any intentions not to attend.
However, as I grew older, I began to understand how expensive a degree truly is, and
researched the best ways to bypass post graduation debt. Though it has been time
consuming... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps the most defining feature of my passion to attend college is the ability to
continue learning in a classroom environment. Though I learn everyday outside of
the classroom, the scape of what I learn in the classroom has a unique effect of my
desire to be there. I have always had a longing to know as much about anything as I
possibly could and college continues to teach me about things I would have otherwise
never had the opportunity to know. If I am to receive one of the IIAM Chairmen s
scholarships, the committee can know to an absolute certainty that their recipient has
a passion for learning and that he understands the utter importance of a college degree
on his own
Saving Private Ryan Spielberg
The movie that I selected and watched was Saving Private Ryan, directed by
Steven Spielberg back in the 90 s. It was a pretty frightening movie but overall, a
spectacular movie with great characters like, Tom Hanks and Matt Damon and had
some amazing camera shots and heartwarming and sad quotes. The film starts off
with Captain Miller and most of the American troops start invasion into Normandy,
France attacking the Germans. Some casualties happen with Miller and his troops.
Miller gets a call from the General of the Army ordering Miller to assemble a rescue
team to save Private Ryan and bring him back home to his grieving mother because
all of his siblings passed in the War in separate attacks. So he hires a few troops and
a translator that
High School Track Athlete HIIT Program Essay
With a track athlete they may be performing in various events throughout the day
that require them to cover various distances or the procession of various skill sets.
Events such as sprints may be 400 meters and require incredible speeds that may
only be maintained for short periods of time. They may be involved with relays
where they require coordination and pace matching for the baton to be passed. Or
they could be a hurdler and require wait high leaps on a repeated basis. No matter
the task at hand it will require the combined use of speed, agility and strength in
order for them to be competitive. I have taken some creative liberties for this
discussion considering the detailed description for this discussion is High school track

It will require the beginning of the development of very specific capacities while
allowing the maintenance of other physical achievements made during previous
phases of training.3 This HIIT program will be fun but will require continuous
demands from the whole body repeatedly and will only be repeated once per week
for a 4 weeks cycle. Each part of the session requires an explosive movement of
some type. Research has shown that incorporating explosive exercises will benefit
the athlete by yielding maximum or near maximum rates of force development.3
By Phases 3 and 4 of this session the athlete, if truly putting forth the effort
required, will be gaining greater maximal cardiovascular and peripheral
adaptations.1 As these various physiological parameters are being pushed the
athlete will begin to see quicker adaptations and stronger correlations with their
performance.3 By creating the musculoskeletal strains, and pushing their
cardiovascular workload, they will be achieving neuromuscular overloads that will
force adaptations to occur. By manipulating these various variables within the HIIT
session their body will be forced to respond. 1 To begin the schools athletes always

they were listed on my financial aid worksheet they divided no financial means for

Child Labor Rights
Mother Jones, Cesar Chavez, and Malala Yousafzai all fought for the rights that
they believed in. They all were leaders part of a big picture. Although these three
individuals used different methods to get their point across, they all had courage
to speak out about injustice and improve human rights. Mother Jones was a lady
who stood up for all of the children who were mistreated because of child labor.
When trying to get her point out, Mother Jones went to newspapers for public
articles on what was happening to these working children. Unfortunately, the
factories owned the newspapers so they wouldn t publish her position on the
subject, so she made her own form of publicity by forming a march of children and
parents. (Josephson). She was an activist for the abolishment of child labor.
Mother Jones had a lot of courage to speak out even though not a lot of people
listened. After publicly marching to Sagamore Hills, Judith Pinkerton Josephson
states, Within a few years, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and other states
did pass tougher child labor laws. The federal government finally passed a child
labor law (part of the Fair Labor Standards Act) in 1938 thirty five years after the
march of the mill children. Mother Jones was persistent on getting her message out in
public because so many people were clueless on what was happening to the children.
She would most definitely say that defending all human rights is a necessity because
even though this particular issue
Examples Of Epigraph In Fahrenheit 451
The epigraph of Fahrenheit 451, If they give you ruled paper, write the other way,
points to how Guy Montag follows this suggestion. Beginning the novel with this
quote reflects the tone and theme that Montag helps exemplify through the strictness
of society. By Bradbury inputting this quote as the epigraph, it emphasizes the
individuality that Montag embodies. If they give you ruled paper, write the other
way and do not become distracted by the parading, disillusioned world. This quote
states that when people try to force compliance on another, then there lays a choice
that involves going in the opposite direction, paving a desirable future from a new
path. Just like Montag discovers, people blindly follow the overarching beliefs that
Essay on Japanese Internment in Canada
The core of the Japanese experience in Canada lies in the shameful and almost
undemocratic suspension of human rights that the Canadian government committed
during World War II. As a result, thousands of Japanese were uprooted to be
imprisoned in internment camps miles away from their homes. While only a small
percentage of the Japaneseliving in Canada were actually nationals of Japan, those
who were Canadian born were, without any concrete evidence, continuously being
associated with a country that was nothing but foreign to them. Branded as enemy
aliens , the Japanese Canadianssoon came to the realization that their beloved nation
harboured so much hate and anti Asian sentiments that Canada was becoming just as
foreign to them as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The initial reaction to Pearl Harbor was to take cautious emergency actions to avert
civil unrest. Soon, the Canadian government passed the War Measures Act. It gave
permission to intern all undesirable Japanese, tie up every Japanese owned fishing
boat in British Columbia, close all Japanese language schools, forbid the publishing
of newspapers in Japanese, and seize all Japanese property. All of which were
subsequently carried out. In 1941, there were twenty three thousand five hundred
Japanese persons in Canada, residing mainly on the coast of British Columbia. Of
that, six thousand seven hundred were Canadian born, seven thousand were
naturalized citizens, and the rest were nationals of Japan. However, nothing could
make any difference. To the typical, white British Columbian, the Japanese were all
lower class citizens. Five hours after the attack on Pearl Harbour, forty eight Japanese
planes bombed Hong Kong where two Canadian battalions were stationed, and were
inflicted with heavy casualties. The problem of the resident Japanese in British
Columbia was then quickly set into the mainstream focus. Prior to declaring war on
Japan, Mackenzie King had stated that the enemy country had wantonly and
treacherously attacked British territory, and that Japan s actions [were] a threat to the
defence and freedom of Canada.
The Slaughter Of Humans And Contemporary Animal
Slaughter
Hung upside down by their feet, their throats are slit to drain the blood. This is an
image that appears in most every slaughterhouse across the globe. John Ajvide
Lindqvist s novel, Let the Right One In, similarly portrays these scenes of slaughter
with one difference: the victims of slaughter are humans not animals. Set in the
suburbs of Stockholm, Lindqvist s novel tells of a young and severely bullied boy,
Oskar, who befriends a centuries old child vampire named Eli. Because of her
childlike body, Eli requires her older male companion, HГҐkan, to procure blood for
her. As he hangs his victims by their feet and slits their throats to collect the blood,
HГҐkan s process of obtaining human blood is clearly evocative of contemporary
Western practices of animal slaughter. However, the difference between HГ
Ґkan s
slaughter of humans and contemporary animal slaughter is not merely the victims
species but is, more importantly, the space in which these acts occur. Despite meat
consumption s widespread acceptance, meat production by means of slaughter is still
visually disturbing and thus, in order to be socially tolerable, must not be seen.
Indeed, since the 19th century, the slaughterhousehas been spatially located at the
edges of urban space in order to render its violent actions socially invisible. What
happens, then, when the slaughter occurs within the urban space as HГҐkan s acts of
slaughter do? By comparing animal slaughter to the novel s scenes of human
slaughter in terms
Starwood Swot Analysis
Starwood Hotels Mission and Current Performance A) A vision statement needs to

vision is vague. They are not in the Life Style business, nor strongly in the Consumer
Products business. Their business is the hospitality business and it is not emphasized
properly. Starwood lacks a mission statement. As so they do not address the nine

but it does sets the standard for the culture the company wants to establish. B)

Pierre Trudeau s Policies On The Economy
Pierre Trudeau s Policies Pierre Elliot Trudeau was the 15th Prime Minister of
Canada. He served as Prime Minister from April 1968 to June 1984. During his time
in office, Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau introduced many new policies. Pierre
Trudeau s policies on the economy, the environment and multiculturalism greatly
benefitted Canada. Pierre Trudeaus policies on the economy benefitted Canada.
Trudeau introduced many new support programs. They included increased
unemployment insurance, benefits for maternity leave, and a youth employment
program. The programs ensured more money for Canadians. Citizens were able to
buy more and the increased spending aided to Trudeau s Just Society. Pierre
Trudeau was able to control foreign investment. The Canada Development
Corporation (CDC) was created by Trudeau to help with the issue of foreign
investment. The CDC bought back companies that were owned by foreign
investors. The Foreign Investment Review Agency (FIRA) was created in 1973.
The organization approved foreign investments of Canadian companies. This
regulated foreign investment which helped more Canadians to continue to own
their businesses. In 1982, Trudeau established the 6 and 5 program. The program
limited federal employees with the amount of wage increase they would receive.
Federal employees would receive a 6% wage increase in the first year, and then a 5%
increase the following year. Pierre Trudeau encouraged provinces and businesses to
follow this policy as
8th Amendment Pros And Cons
The Eighth Amendment is a wonderful thing,
No cruel and unusual punishment, (written to spite Britain s king)
But where does the amendment stand in the world today?
Proud and strong, or thrown in the hay?
To answer this we can t just look at one place,
But first to the world, and then the United States,
We should be thankful for an amendment that prevents us the harm,
Done in other nations to the unarmed,
China punishes religious groups with torture,
And Saudi Arabia s human rights record is a real scorcher,
Russia s prisons are in horrible shape,
While women in Serbian prisons formerly faced rape,
Though the Taliban s human rights problems may be under fire,
Myanmar and Albania s violations are still quite dire,
But in the process of citing

Week Three Course Project
Evaluation of Quickbooks
Section I Overview:
I decided to evaluate Quickbooks Pro 2008 since I already have the program on my
computer and the changes that have been made to the software since then are
minimal. I have been using Quickbooks since 1994. It is a very good program for
small business owners that are not familiar with the rules of accounting. To set up
your business accounting records you just need to know the following information:
company name, address, website, email, tax identification number, bank account
numbers and balances in bank accounts. Quickbooks company set up runs through
interview questions which allow you to select the options they feel best suit your
needs or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now you are ready to start entering your data and you can personalize the forms for
your business. Quickbooks gives you templates of forms for whether you are selling
services or products. You have the ability to customize these forms with your
company logo and the forms can be printed or you can email them directly to your
vendors and customers.
Section II Transactional Processing and Data Management: a. Revenue Cycle:
One of the first things you should do after completing the company setup is to start
entering your customer information. To accomplish this you click on customer center
from the toolbar and then click on new. You fill in the data form with the customer s
name, billing and shipping addresses, email, phone numbers, contacts, if there is an
existing balance and the date of the current balance, how the customer heard about
you (which is great for tracking your advertising), payment terms, sales tax
information, credit limits, and credit card information if they pay by credit card. You
can set up different price levels for different customers which is beneficial if you
have both wholesale and retail customers. If you have a customer that is no longer
active you check the inactive box and they will not appear on any of your customer
reports but their information is still saved in the system.
After entering all of your existing customers I would then recommend setting up your
inventory list. This option is found under Vendors Inventory
Aliens In Area 51 Essay
Most of us have heard about the mysterious Area 51 and the rumors of the Aliens
and UFOs that are hidden within. However, there is not much evidence to show
that these rumors are true. On the other hand, there is a lot of evidence that shows
that there are no aliens in Area 51. Before a reader can understand this essay, they
must know a little background about the subject. For a long time, what went on in
Area 51 was kept top secret. This led to many people speculating that the
government was hiding things such as aliens and crashed UFOs there. These
speculations led to things such as movies and TV shows being made on the subject.
The creation of these led to more people learning about and believing in the rumors
of Aliens and other extraterrestrial beings in Area 51.... Show more content on

Once you figure step 1. .2 out, use your imagination to connect to the character. *Audition tip: When preparing for an audition, don t be nervous because you re worried about acting the part... Remember I m not nervous because I am this character; I feel its emotions, its struggles, its love and hate. The most important thing when waiting for your audition, is not whether you re going to land the part or not, is to prepare yourself to become this character! I didn t use my environment. When I m re watching film, I couldn t see myself being authentic in those moments, like that s not how I would act; knowing myself, I think I d come off as more shy and awkward during this date. I got lost in the page. My Criticism: Take everything personally! What s your need! If you re feeling overwhelmed with remembering the technicalities of preparing for your cold read, as well as taking stage direction, just focus on the need. Knowing your need is the most important thing that can help you prepare for an audition. Maybe to help you better associate yourself with the character, remember three memories that this character had; similar to imagining your other

Much later, Othello and Desdemona again show each other their love. Othello plans revelry for the evening in celebration of the defeat of the Turks and in celebration of his marriage to Desdemona. Once the celebration begins, Othello leaves Cassio on guard and departs to consummate his marriage: Come, my dear love, / The purchase made, the fruits are to ensue; / The profit s yet to come `tween me and you (II.iii.9 11). Othello only wishes for the best from his new marriage with Desdemona. He shows no sign of any desire for anything bad to happen. The two elms show up at the very beginning of the play, impressing us with a sinister maternity in their aspect, a crushing, jealous absorption. (O Neill, 1925:1) One of the themes in this play is the Oedipus complex coined by Freud, revealed through Eben s obsession with his mother. His addiction to her even brings about the hatred for both his father and brothers, who all seem to be responsible for his mother s death from Eben s point of view. Not all of the success can be contributed to the design of the product. Although their products were in high demand, there are more underlying factors that have paved the way for Crocs to be competitive in the shoe market. Crocs supply chain design and use of vertical integration revolutionized speed and quality of order fulfillment. Traditionally, the shoe industrywas seasonal and based on projections of future trends. Retail stores would need to place orders several months before the shoes would even hit the shelves. As orders were made early in the year, manufacturers would begin production for shipment later in the year. Since inventory supply depended on expected sales, stock could not be quickly replenished as it ran out. The executives at Crocs decided to branch out from the traditional production schedules and develop a lean production model. As sales increased or decreased, Crocs managed to speed up and slow down production throughout the year to quickly replenish depleted inventory. Since the shoes were easily made with the foam mold design, rapid production and order fulfillment came easily for Crocs. This approach attracted the attention of many footwear retailers. Collis October 7th, 2012 For centuries Classical societies have lent their contributions to art and have amazed us then and still continue to do so. Art is a broad topic and in order for us to explain a specific piece of art we must first analyze the artwork precisely. I am choosing art from Classical Greece, Hellenistic Greece, Etruscan Civilization, Roman Republic, and Roman Empire society and I will examine a piece of art from each of those periods. The art works that I have chosen from each period are Polykleitos the Younger, theater, Epidauros, ca. 350 B.C.E, from the Classical Greece period, Portrait bust of Alexander the Great, Roman copy of a Greek ... He brought people together through his means as well as their history and their cultures. The Etruscan Civilization has many artworks that show the type of people they were. The Tomb of Reliefs was one such piece of art. This type of tomb was used to bury families and this particular tomb could hold as much as forty bodies. Much like the Egyptian tombs these tombs were furnished with gold, weapons and vases which made it a target for grave robbers. The relationship between the art and the culture shows the value this civilization places on family, that even after death they remain together. The culture influence that genre of art because this civilization placed pride in their families and wanted to know that even in death they are comfortable. The small round Temple of Vesta was located at the east end of the Roman Forumand this was a holy spot since the earliest times; the temple was rebuilt several times. The shrine contained the sacred heart of the goddess, and its fire had to be re lit by the Vestals each March 1 by rubbing two sticks together. Here the Vestals also kept sacred water
  • 33. Examples Of Authority In The Truman Show One of the first ways of thinking that applies to the Truman Show is Authority . Everything in Truman s life is constructed by a corporation, led by Christof the director, whose main intention is to make a profit from his reality show. Authority is a prevalent theme in the film, and comes to the fore through the distribution of media in Seahaven which attempts to control its viewers through indoctrination. The media strives to integrate him by governing his personal thoughts and actions leading him to a sense of what are right and wrong. For example, his middle school teacher had restricted his dream of becoming an explorer by making him believe that everything had already been discovered. Within the corporation, Christof is controlling him and approaches Truman without any real physical or social engagement but only through external forces such as the actors. It gave permission to intern all undesirable Japanese, tie up every Japanese owned fishing boat in British Columbia, close all Japanese language schools, forbid the publishing of newspapers in Japanese, and seize all Japanese property. All of which were subsequently carried out. In 1941, there were twenty three thousand five hundred Japanese persons in Canada, residing mainly on the coast of British Columbia. Of that, six thousand seven hundred were Canadian born, seven thousand were naturalized citizens, and the rest were nationals of Japan. However, nothing could make any difference. To the typical, white British Columbian, the Japanese were all lower class citizens. Five hours after the attack on Pearl Harbour, forty eight Japanese planes bombed Hong Kong where two Canadian battalions were stationed, and were inflicted with heavy casualties. The problem of the resident Japanese in British Columbia was then quickly set into the mainstream focus. Prior to declaring war on Japan, Mackenzie King had stated that the enemy country had wantonly and treacherously attacked British territory, and that Japan s actions [were] a threat to the defence and freedom of Canada.

This is an image that appears in most every slaughterhouse across the globe. John Ajvide Lindqvist s novel, Let the Right One In, similarly portrays these scenes of slaughter with one difference: the victims of slaughter are humans not animals. Set in the suburbs of Stockholm, Lindqvist s novel tells of a young and severely bullied boy, Oskar, who befriends a centuries old child vampire named Eli. Because of her childlike body, Eli requires her older male companion, HГҐkan, to procure blood for her. As he hangs his victims by their feet and slits their throats to collect the blood, HГҐkan s process of obtaining human blood is clearly evocative of contemporary Western practices of animal slaughter. However, the difference between HГ Ґkan s slaughter of humans and contemporary animal slaughter is not merely the victims species but is, more importantly, the space in which these acts occur. Despite meat consumption s widespread acceptance, meat production by means of slaughter is still visually disturbing and thus, in order to be socially tolerable, must not be seen. Indeed, since the 19th century, the slaughterhousehas been spatially located at the edges of urban space in order to render its violent actions socially invisible. What happens, then, when the slaughter occurs within the urban space as HГҐkan s acts of slaughter do? By comparing animal slaughter to the novel s scenes of human slaughter in terms
