Chartres Cathedral Analysis
Chartres Cathedral
Chartres Cathedral is one of the most significant achievements of all the historical architecture.
Additionally, it is entirely preserved with its original details. The unique features of the cathedral
are intact, and thus when one visits the place, he or she is likely to encounter the authentic
architecture work as it was done many years ago. Chartres Cathedral symbolizes an atmosphere of
awe and holiness (Katzenellenbogen, 2). As such, it was built for religious purposes. However, it
attracts the nonbelievers as well. As a holy building, it has many glass windows to light the
building. Due to its height, a double flying buttresses is used to support the high nave. The
cathedral was the first building in history that used buttresses since it was considered as necessary
for the peoples culture and as a sign of authority. It was built to reflect a symbol of power since the
religious leaders engaged in politics too. The cathedral has many statuses that represent the Biblical
aspects such as Elijah, Isaiah, John the Baptist, Jeremiah, and Simeon (Katzenellenbogen, 9). The
standings portray the Christian faith that was used by the architectures while building the cathedral.
The interior floor stands thirty six meters high and is one hundred and twenty eight meters wide.
The sizes show how vital it is and it can host many peoples who visit for religious functions.
The Great Ziggurat
The architecture work is unique in its design and construction material. Up to

History Of Internet On The World

History of Internet
Before the the Internet was created, linking the world, human beings were already thinking with
a connected mind. While messages obviously were unable to be transferred electronically,
humans invented different ways to trade information and news with other people. Firstly was
the post. In order to send a friend a message, a letter would have had to been written and mailed.
Mailing messages was a long process, often taking days to get one message to another person.
This method (still used today) was not the most convenient because there is no urgency or speed
in mailing a letter. Luckily in the mid 1800 s the telegraph was invented. Sent for the first time in
1838, the telegraph was the first instance of sending a message (4). A telegraph is defined as the
transmission of textual or symbolic messages without the physical exchange of an object. This is
the first instance of a message being sent in a virtual sense (2). While messages could be delivered
through the mail within a matter of days, a telegraph could be transmitted live. At the time this was
quite a feat. When studying the creation of the internet, it is important to remember that not one
single man directly created the web that we know today. Rather, many brilliant minds, over time,
added and refined the experience for the greater good. Originally, the earliest version of the internet
was constructed as a tool for US warfare. The United States

In early 1990 Somalia was going through a civil war. Their dictator Mohammed Farrah had
order the closer of all food transportation that entered the country. His goal was to kill his own
people by starving them to death. About 300,000 civilians had died of hunger. In response, the
united States send troops to Somalia to capture Mohammed Farrah, the self proclaimed president
of Somalia. They soon found out that the best strategic was to capture Omar Salad Elmi and
Abdi Hassan Awale Queybdiid, two of Mohammed top advisers. The special mission was to be
done by experienced man as well as new recruits. The operation was supposed to have taken about

Salad Elmi and Abdi Hassan Awale Queybdiid, two of Mohammed top advisers. After arriving at
their target building, they capture both of the advisors. As they departed, everything started to

they departed the target building to head back to the military base, both ground and air support,

the black hawk. Soldiers had to walk to the crash site, which was a very dangerous mission to go
through since enemies were all over Mogadishu. As soldiers were on their way to crash number

In life, there is a set of questions that causes people to question their purpose in the world. These
questions were designed to be simply that; questions. They have no answer and once the answer
seems to become apparent, it changes into a defining moment, according to Jim Tilley. These
defining moments that were once questions are the things that document our lives and how far we
have come. Jim Tilley wrote the poem The Big Questions to talk about and parallel these things
with everyday life. The big questions are big only/ because they have never been answered (line 1
/2). Jim Tilley begins his poem The Big Questions, by posing a philosophical statement in which the
audience begins to ponder what these questions might be. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Some may say that it was by chance while others may say that it was fate. Tilley chose to end line
9 with the phrase can t because that is a phrase that constantly floats around the pessimistic mind. It
wrestles with the fact that there are always situations in which one feels as though they can t .
However, the answer to that question is clear to the bear who has determined that you are going to
be his lunch.
The grizzly bear is a metaphor for a problem encountered in life. The three options used to
rationalize what to do when encountering a bear also parallel to what to do in a tough situation.
When faced with a problem, everyone has a different rationalization to deal with it. The options
are a constant that can be applied to any circumstance in life: run away, confront it or sit aside and
wait. What we do in tough situations directly correlates to our response in previous life
experiences. In the past, these tough situations were big questions that made us wonder the typical
why did this have to happen to me? Tilley refers to these as defining moments.
These defining moments are the things that further our experiences and what help to shape us. So
this can be a defining moment, /but not a big question... (Line 20/21). Tilley seems to make a point
that the big questions will all ultimately turn into defining moments. As anyone would realize while

English Colonial Women In Colonial America
The land of the freedom for new settlers from England and Europe was for many seen as an
opportunity to open new frontiers of prosperity, and land to own. The strong clash of culture,
customs, religion and language was without a doubt a challenge not only for new settlers, but also
for natives Americas in how to live from then on. English colonial women faced also this
challenge when some of the women were abducted by Natives Americans and some of them
decided to stay, due to the lack of rights, husband s oppression, illiteracy, the inequality of jobs and
genderroles.

Paleo Pros And Cons
Vegan vs Paleo has been an ongoing, emotionally charged feud in the health community for quite
some time, especially between youtube personalities.
It s important to acknowledge that Vegans, Vegetarians, Paleo and Primal eaters alike make
conscious decisions about their diets, which is always going to be superior to making no decisions
(eating refined carbs with sick animals.)
We commend people for taking responsibility for themselves and their impact on the world.
That being said, the truth is that this ongoing food feud isn t fruitful for the overwhelming majority
of us. Most people s ideal diet falls somewhere between Veganismand Paleo, or High Carb and

Paleo
The Good: Paleo, Primal, and other low carb diets address the chronic carbing that has become an
issue for our society.
The Bad: A lot of Paleo diet recommendations underplay the importance of plant foods.
The Reality: Americans are eating an absurd amount of carbohydrates, and most of the time these
carbohydrates (White Flour, White Sugar, etc. ) have been predigested by machinery and
processing, leaving them a demineralized blood sugar bomb. They spike insulin and send you on a
roller coaster of energy highs and lows.
The Science:
When you eat carbohydrates, your pancreas secretes Insulin into the bloodstream. Insulin shuttles
nutrients into cells and stores excess energy as fat.
A lot of bad stuff happens when you spike Insulin with high glycemic foods like grains or sugar.
These foods are considered high GI because they re very easily digestible, and so they affect your
blood sugar rapidly. Even more so when they re refined with processes that strip the minerals and
other nutrients, leaving plain sugars or starches. These fast acting carbs have been shown to be
even more addictive than

The Consequences Of The Oscar Pistorius Trial
The Oscar Pistorius Trial Everyone is prone to making errors of expression and perspective in our
everyday lives. However, at times these mistakes can be more costly. One such case is the Pistorius
trial, where Oscar Pistorius committed the errors of contradiction, appeal to emotion, and
unwarranted assumptions. In addition, his lawyer Barry Roux also committed the fallacyof appealto
emotions to completely mitigate his client of any responsibly. Moreover, the Judge Masipa in this
case committed the error of unwarranted assumption by over sympathizing with Oscar Pistorius,
which lead to the sentencing he received. Therefore, one need to think critically about the
consequences of this actions. According to the BBC News Mr. Pistorius claimed in the trial, that
on February 14, 2013 he accidently killed his girlfriend. In the trial BBC news reported that Mr.
Pistorius and his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp had dinner at 7:00 p.m. Then, they went to sleep
around 9:00 or 10:00. p.m. Sometime, in the early morning hours his girlfriend had woken up and
asked him, if he was having trouble sleeping. Mr. Pistorius indicated that he had trouble sleeping
and went to get some fans from the balcony. Upon reentering he heard noise coming from the
bathroom and he thought that someone was trying to break into their home. Furthermore, this is
when Mr. Pistorius said he called to his girlfriend to get out and call the police. Then, he reached

The Lottery By Shirley Jackson And The Sisterhood Of The...
In the stories The Lottery written by Shirley Jackson and The Sisterhood of the Night by Steven
Millhauser both talk about the consequences that someone or the entire village can go through
by going against the rules and regulations of a tradition. Observing a tradition is a form of
togetherness among every individual and it must be practiced in the right way. Tradition plays
an important role in the lives of villagers and it also shines light on how customs and tradition
should be practiced according to the way our ancestors have done it in the past. However, it is
not one person or a group of people s idea, it is a laid down rules and laws that can never be
changed by anyone regardless of what the situation might hold on to. Most people tend to invent
laws that some traditions do not allow, which can lead to conflict and disorderliness in such
land. Just like the way at the village square. But not knowing that the majority of the villagers

Hidden Homelessness, A Study By Sheffield Hallam...
INTRODUCTION TO THE RESEARCH QUESTION
Hidden Homelessness, a study by Sheffield Hallam University for Crisis, surveyed more than 400
rough sleepers revealing more than 1/5th of those interviewed had committed an imprisonable
offence in order to get off the streets for the night (THE GUARDIAN 2010).
Niven and Stewart s 2005 research indicates 30% of people released from prison are homeless and
offenders who are homeless prior to custody had one year reconviction of 79% compared with 47%
for those in accommodation (MOJ 2010).
Williams et al (2012) for the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), indicated three fifths (60%) of prisoners
believed having a place to live was important in preventing future reoffending. The Prison Reform
Trust, reported in 2013 that 68% of prisoners considered being in employment on release was an
important factor in reducing reoffending.
The aim of this research is to establish how and why homeless people come to find themselves in
prison and factors that may influence their likelihood of reoffending in future. Furthermore it
questions whether homeless offenders are being adequately supported for their release whilst in
prison by housing, health, probation, welfare and education services. It will consider previous
empirical research in the field from Salem et al (2013) as well as McFarland and Blair (1995) and
Pleace (2013). It will establish whether there is a disconnect between services commissioned by

Argumentative Essay On Evolution
Madison Wenig
Mr. Kellerman
Honors Biology 2

Evolution
There always has been a controversy whether evolution really did happen or not. Many
evolutionists, philosophers and biologists have presented sufficient evidence that evolution is true.
Yet there is still debate about this contentious topic. With the facts and findings of fossilrecords of
earlier species, ideas of initial theorists, and our own genetics and DNA, evolution can be hard to
prove wrong. Evolution is not just a change over time, but that all life on Earth shares a common
ancestor. This process is occurring in our lives right now. What exactly is evolution? Evolution is
the process through which the characteristics of organisms change over successive generations, by
means of genetic variation . (What is evolution) Simply, descent with modification. Charles Darwin
was the first person with the acceptable explanation of evolution. Although his theory gave forth
too many tremendous advances, he did not build this theory on his own. He learned and built off
earlier theorists, like Jean Baptiste Lamarck, who indorsed linear evolution . (evolution) As well as
Aristotle, a Greek philosopher, with his concept of Scala Nature. These early theorists served as a
foundation for Charles Darwin s theory. Although Darwin s theory was important, a greater
attribution to evolution was founded. That is the uncovering of fossils. Fossils are significant to the
evolution because they show how life on Earth was

Boom Of The U.s. And World Economies
Boom and Bust in the U.S. and World Economies
New business and production methods along with progressive business philosophies allowed
manufacturers to boost turnover and to make large profits which they plowed back into new
factories and wage rises. Department store and service station chains used massive buying power
and operating efficiencies to lower prices while increasing service and choice, helping wages to
go further. Henry Ford used his huge buying power to setup discount grocery stores selling cheap
groceries for his employees, much to the annoyance of local store owners.
Increased incomes, along with the introduction of credit funded a huge increase in consumer
spending. Only some of the increased affluence found its way into insurance as a provision for
retirement.
There was an economic recession in 1921 but it was allowed to run its course without political
interference and as a result it was over in 18 months. As the economy picked up, easy credit and
speculation created stock market and property bubbles that had devastating effects when they
eventually ended.
People living in the cities and areas of industry benefited most from the increased prosperity
although there were arguments to the contrary. Those living in rural areas did not benefit to the
same extent, and this was made worse by widespread drought. This encouraged population
movement from rural areas to cities, a trend which has continued down to the present day. In 1926

when it comes to the three main features education, transportation, and domestic life. Houston and
Hong Konghave distinct differences in education. On the one hand, the weekly duration and the
amount of hours spent in school vary. The mandatory requirements for Houston students is going to
school for five days a week and spending seven hours a day at school. The school days for students

school hours. On the other hand, it is mandatory in Hong Kong that students attend school six days
a week and spend ten hours a day at school. Students are required to attend school Monday through

schooling. When it comes to curriculum within the schools they have great contrast. Houston
schools center their curriculum on Science, Math, English, History, and Sports. Sports is the
number one centered curriculum in Houston, which consists of football, basketball, soccer, and

Still no liveness testing or tamper resistance is required.
The biometric authentication is sufficient authentication.
A traditional authentication method as a sufficient authentication method is offered only in the case
of biometric system malfunction. Systems on level two offer a certain level of security and still
remain relatively cheap. Some of the easiest attacks are eliminated, but the systems still can be
tampered with or cheated with faked biometric characteristics.
C.Level 3 Intermediate systems
Level three systems already do have some kind of liveness test. Exposed components of the system
(typically the biometric input device) must be guarded or tamperresistant against moderate attacks.
The communication must be authenticated and encrypted. The biometric authentication is
sufficient, and the system never offers traditional authentication as a sufficient authentication
method. Such biometric systems will be able to resist moderate attacks.
Advanced tampering methods or advanced faked biometric characteristics, however, will still be
able to cheat the biometric systems.

How Great Was Nicholas To Blame For The 1905 Revolution...
Was Nicholas Completely to Blame for the 1905 Revolution of Russia?
In the year 1905, Russia experienced an attempted revolution through the means of its people. It
could be argued that the tsar, Nicholas, was to blame for this revolution due to the amount of upset
and discontent he brought not only within his country, but many others such as Poland and Finland
too. It could be argued that Nicholas overall attitude towards being a ruler and to his people
encouraged the revolution of 1905 as he made no attempt to stop it but only encourage it.
The initial issue that Nicholas faced was the many opposition groups that attempted to thwart his
rule. Incidentally however, the Mir, which caters for peasant/farmers lives by dividing land and
food, had poor menials of maintaining land and improving it so that its people s food grew better
and the land was more easily farmed, allowing peasants to make extra food so that they could go
on to sell it instead of making just enough food to maintain their life. However, Nicholas cannot be
fully blamed for this through the fact in the north of Russia, there was poor soil originally making it
harder to grow crops on and maintain. Additionally, there was a small amount of time of growing
season for the peasants meaning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Lilybank Lodge
Lilybank Lodge Nestled in the high country of New Zealand s South Island is a getaway
adventure playground aimed unashamedly ac the world s very wealthy. Presidents, playboys, and
other such globe trotters are the prime targets of this fledgling tourism business developed by
Lilybank Lodge. The lodge offers this exclusive niche the opportunity of a secluded holiday in a
little known paradise. Guests, commonly under public scrutiny in their everyday lives, can escape
such pressures at a hunting retreat designed specifically with their needs in mind.

The 28,000 hectares of original farmland that made up the retreat and backed onto the South Island
s Mount Cook National Park were converted into a big game reserve. All merino sheep on the
land were sold, and deer, elk, chamois, and wapiti were brought in and released. This was a
carefully considered plan. Olde Olthof, the former conservationist, believed that financially and
environmentally this was the correct decision. Not only do tourists, each staying for one week and
taking part in safari shooting, inject as much cash into the business as the station s annual wool clip
used to fetch, but the game does less harm to the environment than sheep. Cattle, however, once
part of the original station, were left to graze on lower reverflat areas.
For those high flying customers seeking less bloodthirsty leisure activities, Lilybank developed
other product line extensions. Horse trekking, golfing on a nearby rural course (with no need for
hordes of security forces), world class photographic opportunities, helicopter trips around nearby
Lake Tekapo, nature walks, and other such activities formed part of the exclusive package.
While still in the early stages of operation, this retreat has already attracted a steady stream of
visitors. To date the manager has relied solely on positive word of mouth, publicity, and public

The Birchbark House Summary
The Birchbark House is a story that portrays the life of a young Ojibwa Native American girl,
Omakayas. During the cycle of the four seasons, Omakayas comes to a greater understanding of
life, herself, and the relationship between the two. Throughout the year s events, the spiritual
connection between humans and nature, the necessity of confronting ones fears and the values:
courage, and loyalty are all explored. The story starts out with a short prologue that describes
how a baby girl is abandoned by a group of fur traders because they are afraid of being infected
with smallpox, a disease that killed everyone else in the Ojibwa community. One of the fur traders
imagines that if anyone were to come back and rescue the little girl, it would... Show more content

Omakayas anger at her brother Pinch, the narrative shifts to Pinch s point of view: It was hard

Political Action Committees ( Pacs )
Political action committees (PACs) have gained influence throughout political history. However,
their gain of influence does not play a role in their acceptance from political parties. People
believe political action committees influence the legislature. Political action committees raise
money for political campaigns and other political issues. As Elizabeth Drew said, The process by
which Congress is supposed to function have been distorted, if not overwhelmed, by the role of
money. The ability of even the best of legislators to focus on broad questions, to act independently,
or to lead has been seriously impaired. This leads to people believing political action committees
influence political official s views on issues in the government. The increase in political action
committees are said to influence and help the political officials that are going to run for office
again, because they want to get more money from the political action committees for their next
political campaign. However, the supporters of political action committees say they allow average
citizens the right to let their voices be heard in the political process. Another argument political
action committees express is the First Amendment. The people who support certain candidates
believe that donating money is an act of Freedom of Speech. Still many people oppose them. There
is a bipartisan consensus on the dislike of political action committees. It may be said that political
action committees are a

La Leyenda Negra: Myth or Reality.
La Leyenda Negra also known as the Black legend is propaganda about the Spaniards and their
empire. It is a term that gathers all accusations against Spain and it indicates the unfavorable image
of cruelty and basically embodies a belief that Spaniards are evil, greedy and fanatical people. La

This isn t a place for personal opinions so I ll simply tell this in a completely unbiased manner.
So, everyone asks why isn t Islam the majority religion of the Philippines? Just look at it, it s in a
group of islands inhabited by Muslims. It s semi surrounded by Muslim island nations. Prior to
the arrival of the Spanish, the Philippines was an Islamic state for the most part. Various Muslim
empires ruled the Philippines, like for example Mindanao and Visayas were ruled by Malays.
Luzon, was ruled by Arabs. Other parts were Hindu and Buddhist empires. The Spanish, had just
finished off a Muslim kingdom that had once ruled the Iberian Peninsula, both Spain and
Portugal. When the Spanish got to the Philippines, they were disgusted by the presence of
Muslims. So, they converted 90% of Filipinos to the Roman Catholic faith. So why wasn t
Malaysians and Indonesians converted to Christianity? This is because the British and Dutch
didn t care about convering people. So the Malays got to practice their faiths freely. Muslims are
still a minority in the Philippines, but they often face social discrimination and social persecution.
Which is why, a lot of the Filipino Muslims flee to Malaysia or Brunei down south. Some
Muslims in the Philippines also want independance. That is why I see it a negative aspect, because
religious hatred exists in the Philippines. But I m not a Muslim, I don t agree with Islamic
principles either, I loathe

Compromise of 1877 was written to settle the result of the election of 1876 and ended
Reconstruction. Republicans agreed to get rid of troops in the South and give money to build
railroads for the South. Electoral Count Act was formed by 15 men to resolve such dispute and
the compromise worked. David Davis was the one who broke the tie and the Republicans
abandoned racial equality. Civil Rights Cases (1883) made the Civil Rights Act of 1875
unconstitutional and made African American s life harsher. 5. Great Railroad Strike of 1877 cut
wages of railroad workers by 10 percent, so the workers stopped working. President Hayes sent
troops to stop the workers from stop working and more than 100 people dead. This event was the
start of the conflict between workers and owners. The conflict between the Irish and Chinese in
labor caused terrorization of the Chinese. Chinese Exclusion Act then was passed to restrict
Chinese immigration until 1943. 6. James A. Garfield was the Republican candidate in the

Impact of GSP Plus Status on Pakiston s Economy Essay
IMPACTS OF GSP PLUS STATUS ON PAKISTAN S ECONOMY
During last days Pakistan succeeded to secure the long awaited duty free access to the European
markets for four years, by winning Generalized Scheme of Preferences (GSP) Plus status with an
impressive count of votes.
The EU s Generalized Scheme of Preferences (GSP) gives developing countries a vital access to
EU markets and contributes to their economic growth by allowing their exporters to pay lower
duties on their exports to the EU.
GSP PLUS status will allow 20 per cent of Pakistani products to enter 27 EU countries without any
tariffs and 70 percent on preferential rates. This would enable Pakistan to export more than one

Further government needs to formulate a comprehensive policy to salvage the textile industry
because exporters and manufacturers will not benefit from GSP Plus trade facility if facing the
problems like chronic energy shortages, high cost of production, , worsening law and order and
uncompetitiveness in international markets.
Pakistan have to overcome complacency, inefficiency, corruption, bureaucratic bottlenecks,
infrastructure problems and energy crisis to fully exploit the potential of the GSP plus status that
has recently been given to it by the European Union, said Syed Jawaid Iqbal, Chairman, SouthAsia
Forum.
The status quo also raises questions over the country s ability and preparedness to meet the
demand for textile products of EU countries and benefit fully from the GSP Plus status. Cotton s
local demand is expected to be increasing as Domestic Textile industry may require additional
quantity of million cotton bales during the year. Cotton prices are also increased to Rs.100/Munds
in the local market. These prices might further increase due to restoration of gas supply to Punjab
base textile mills. Cotton production for the next year is also estimated as 13millions bales against
the need of 15million bales to meet post GSP Textile export targets. In Faisalabad almost 50% of
the textile units in textile have been shut down due to cuts in gas

Should Renewable Energy Be A Better Choice For Poor...
Third World Going Green In the article, Sorry, Bill Gates, But You re Wrong on Renewable

Gates says that cheap electricity should be distributed to poor countries to protect them from indoor
air pollution that comes from burning dung, or anything else to cook. Shah reiterates by saying, and
backs up, that investing into renewable energysources are the better choice for poor countries. Not
only for them because of its reliability but cheaper for us, the audience, to invest in for them. Even

His other clear objective from this article is displaying Gates as an idiot for suggesting coal
consumption and siding with a scientist, Bjorn Lomborg, who is made clear to be a terrible
person. The blog by Bill Gates on Gatesnotes titled Two Videos that Illuminate Energy Poverty
gives us, obviously, two videos from Bjorn Lomborg only after a small disclaimer from Gates. In
the post, Gates argues that developed countries should discover ways to make green energy
cheaper or make nonrenewable energy cleaner. Individuals in developed countries are trying to set
usage limits on third world countries when it is completely hypocritical. Energy assists the
country to elevate themselves out of poverty and help save lives. Gates attached videos of
Lomborg s to backup how big of a difference energy has on poverty levels. Also, Gates
specifically says, I certainly don t agree with Bjorn on everything, but I always find him worth
listening to. Shah attacks Gates for agreeing with everything this crazy scientist says when Gates
clearly states that he does not.
Being an article in Time, the majority of the audience is going to be older people. Time is a news
magazine, and news is often directed at older people because, generally, they want to be informed
about the world around them more than younger people. This article, in particular, is targeting an

In Memory Of Wb Auden Analysis
Representations of perspectives, notions, and circumstances embody political principles and
their repercussions, often emphasising the disconnect between societies and their leaders. This
idea is particularly evident in WH Auden s poems, In Memory of WB Yeats (1939) and
September 1 1939 (1939) which portrays a Modernist s opinions on political events and
personalities while acting as vehicles for expounding political opinions. Similarly, Malala
Yousafzai s Speech to the United Nations (2013) explores the importance of free speech when
subjugated, to regain freedom. Hence, both texts offer a socio political insight into the necessity
of an unconstrained voice in breaking through unjust institutions that suppress and erode our free
will. In In Memory of WB Yeats, Auden parallels historical and political events and personalities,
using the legacy of WB Yeats to represent the necessity of powerful literature in influencing
political perspectives. He presents the poem in the form of an elegy to show his admiration of
Yeats influence despite his death as explicated in words of a dead man are modified in the guts of
the living . The juxtaposition of dead and living pronounces the power of poetry and its
timelessness. The metaphor For poetry makes nothing happen ... it survives, a way of happening, a
mouth, exemplifies the immortality of poetry and its ability to revolutionise politics through the
ideas spoken by people. Auden presents that the individual voice can shift

Safety Exposed In Albert Marrin s The Triangle Fire
Did you know that this awful tragedy killed 146 workers and most of them were young, female
immigrants of Jewish and Italian descendants? Albert Marrin uses implicit and explicit evidence
to tell the reader, in the early 1900 s fire safety was inadequate to protect people, which led to the
awful tragedy, The Triangle fire. Explicit evidence means to be stated clearly and in detail. Implicit
evidence means to be implied though not plainly expressed. As you can see, Albert Marran uses
Implicit evidence throughout the excerpt to show how in the 1900 s they didn t value fire safety

Albert Marran also gives evidence about who s the problem even caused by the awful tragedy.
There were two different people, the owner s fail or the builder s fail. In paragraph 2 it states,
The hose had not been connected to the standpipe. This is a building fail because if they built
the building correctly, then they could use the hose to collect water to stop the fire from
spreading. In paragraph 6 it states, There were no lights in the stairway, so they had to grope
their way in darkness. This is the owners fail because they should have taken the time and money
to put up lights in the stairway for safety. In paragraph 7 it states, This was not unusual, as
employers often locked doors to discourage latecomers and keep out union organizers. This is the
owner s fail because it caused a hazard for the workers if there was an emergency. Human life

Explaining Hydrogen Cyanide
December 2013, in the middle of intersection of Interstate 25 and 80, a tanker hauling Hydrogen
Cyanide overturns. This scenario can prove to be a tricky one, if it is not properly handled.
Explaining ways to clean up this spill is best put in step by step instructions.
The first thing we need to know about is the chemical itself. Hydrogen Cyanide can be extremely
dangerous depending on which state of matter it is in. Liquid form is highly absorbable; meaning
once it touches a surface (i.e. human skin), it is absorbed at once. From changing Hydrogen Cyanide
to gas, it will take a minimum temperature of 79В°F to bring it to a boiling point (Occupational
Health Guideline for Hydrogen Cyanide, 1978, pg. 2). In the gaseous form, Hydrogen Cyanide is
more dangerous if inhaled and it also happens to be more flammable and explosive. If a person is
exposed to Hydrogen Cyanide gas in concentrations of 100 300mg/pps, death can happen between
10 60 minutes; inhaling 2,000 parts per million can cause death in little than a minute (Enviroment
Health Effects, n.d.).
Thus explaining Hydrogen Cyanide, it shows that the situation is more dangerous than what it
appears. The intersection of I 25 and I 80 is busy; you not only have people driving to different
parts of Cheyenne, you also have drive thru traffic heading to Denver, Casper, Laramie, Nebraska,
etc. Traffic is not the only problem though. An overturned tanker can cause a huge fire hazard;
adding that to the Hydrogen Cyanide,

The early 1920s heralded a change of strategy for Italy as they began to gradually extend inland,
expanding the boundaries of Italian Somaliland. The arrival of Governor Cesare Maria De

sultanates into the boundaries of La Grande Somalia. Italy initially had access to these areas
under successive protection treaties, but no direct ruling of them. Governor De Vecchi began
the takeover of the north eastern sultanates and planned to nullify all treaties. To carry out his
plan, he gathered Italian troops with support from the old Somali police corps as a colonial

I intend to use this table to show that adopted children are represented at the same level as any

A City In Winter And A Complicated Kindness Analysis
The Necessity of Sacrifice in the Lives of the Innocent
The innocence of youth is often romanticized as being has days filled with laughter and energy;
it is oblivious of the stress and responsibilities of this world. In such a picturesque world,
however, it becomes easy to forget the many limitations of youth:. nNo right to vote, to make
decisions, to own property or to even stay up past a specified bedtime. The idyllic life of a child is
easily disagreeable to those youth who want know what they want; to those youth with great
aspirations. Many children both real and in fictional literature experience great struggles while
trying to achieve goals by their own accord. Western North American authors Mark Helprin and
Miriam Toews effectively portrayed this plight of a willful child in their novels A City in Winter
and A Complicated Kindnessrespectively. Mark Helprin s A City in Winter is the tale of an
extraordinary young girl reclaiming her kingdom. Yet even with her wit, charm and innocence,
her progression is ultimately unsuccessful until her surrogate father swoops in quite literally to
save the day knowing it is at the expense of his life. Likewise, Miriam Toews A Complicated
Kindness is about a young girl who knows exactly what she wants, but lacks the moral strength and
maturity to obtain it. Her father, who is both morally strong and mature, must eventually sacrifice
his comfortable way of life for his daughter. In both novels the girls lack power due to

(France) because the British Celts had been tough to beat. Only a year later he came back stronger
and with an even bigger army. Caesar had made his mark, but not wanting a long war, he returned
to Rome and never came back. Although he could not invade Britain, about a hundred years later in
the year AD 43, Emperor Claudius had invaded Britain on instruction to do so by Aulus Plautius,
who was to be the first consular governor in command of Great Britain. This second attempt to take
over Britain would last about four hundred years, to around the 5th century AD.
These invasions were about more than obtaining land for the Roman Empire, but there were also
minerals and agricultural fields to gain more income. Since money and wealth were a big
motivation for them, Roman militaries often were eager to defeat new lands in order to attain the
wealth they desired and pay for their armies. During the early years of this conquest, it was the
initial and main fight for the takeover of most of Britain. The fast growing Romanization of these

The Romans had brought over their methods of agriculture, construction, technology, and mining.
Also, they had implemented their successful economic and government system, bringing in new
laws and ideas. Great Britain had started to become like Rome, adapting their ways of life by using

Romans coming and going, so did some of these inventions and

Comparing The Terms Of Moral Relativism And Various Cultures
In order to compare ethics in the terms of various cultures and moral relativism; one must
understand Moral Relativism and various cultures. Moral Relativism is the view that moral
judgments are true or false only relative to some particular standpoint and that no stand point is
uniquely privileged over all others. (Westacott) As an example for better understanding if a person
says you have your way, I have my way; as for the right way, it does not exist. That is moral
relativism.
We live in a world where the person next to us is not the same and the pattern of human behavior is
different. This can include language, thoughts, communications, actions, customs, beliefs, values,
and institutions of racial, ethnic, religion, gender, gender identity/expression and sexual orientation.
These different views and culture adaptions make norms and ethical standards. (Kraft) ... Show

If people became tolerant and learned of different ethical views and culture of one another this
would require moral relativism.
This would mean that a person would not cast judgement so quickly on other cultures and there
ethical values. A person would be more accepting, if not that tolerant or understanding; though that
would be in a perfect world. Within an individual s culture there are differences and subcultures
that don t always agree on things such as polygamy, gay rights and abortion. The non agreement on
issues within a culture makes it difficult to come up with a set of norms and values that prove
which ethical value is correct.

  • 2. Chartres Cathedral Analysis Chartres Cathedral Chartres Cathedral is one of the most significant achievements of all the historical architecture. Additionally, it is entirely preserved with its original details. The unique features of the cathedral are intact, and thus when one visits the place, he or she is likely to encounter the authentic architecture work as it was done many years ago. Chartres Cathedral symbolizes an atmosphere of awe and holiness (Katzenellenbogen, 2). As such, it was built for religious purposes. However, it attracts the nonbelievers as well. As a holy building, it has many glass windows to light the building. Due to its height, a double flying buttresses is used to support the high nave. The cathedral was the first building in history that used buttresses since it was considered as necessary for the peoples culture and as a sign of authority. It was built to reflect a symbol of power since the religious leaders engaged in politics too. The cathedral has many statuses that represent the Biblical aspects such as Elijah, Isaiah, John the Baptist, Jeremiah, and Simeon (Katzenellenbogen, 9). The standings portray the Christian faith that was used by the architectures while building the cathedral. The interior floor stands thirty six meters high and is one hundred and twenty eight meters wide. The sizes show how vital it is and it can host many peoples who visit for religious functions. • 3. History Of Internet On The World Josh Margolis EMF140 November 2, 2015 History of Internet Before the the Internet was created, linking the world, human beings were already thinking with a connected mind. While messages obviously were unable to be transferred electronically, humans invented different ways to trade information and news with other people. Firstly was the post. In order to send a friend a message, a letter would have had to been written and mailed. Mailing messages was a long process, often taking days to get one message to another person. This method (still used today) was not the most convenient because there is no urgency or speed in mailing a letter. Luckily in the mid 1800 s the telegraph was invented. Sent for the first time in 1838, the telegraph was the first instance of sending a message (4). A telegraph is defined as the transmission of textual or symbolic messages without the physical exchange of an object. This is the first instance of a message being sent in a virtual sense (2). While messages could be delivered through the mail within a matter of days, a telegraph could be transmitted live. At the time this was quite a feat. When studying the creation of the internet, it is important to remember that not one single man directly created the web that we know today. Rather, many brilliant minds, over time, added and refined the experience for the greater good. Originally, the earliest version of the internet was constructed as a tool for US warfare. They have no answer and once the answer seems to become apparent, it changes into a defining moment, according to Jim Tilley. These defining moments that were once questions are the things that document our lives and how far we have come. Jim Tilley wrote the poem The Big Questions to talk about and parallel these things with everyday life. The big questions are big only/ because they have never been answered (line 1 /2). Some may say that it was by chance while others may say that it was fate. Tilley chose to end line 9 with the phrase can t because that is a phrase that constantly floats around the pessimistic mind. It wrestles with the fact that there are always situations in which one feels as though they can t . However, the answer to that question is clear to the bear who has determined that you are going to be his lunch. The grizzly bear is a metaphor for a problem encountered in life. The three options used to rationalize what to do when encountering a bear also parallel to what to do in a tough situation. When faced with a problem, everyone has a different rationalization to deal with it. The options are a constant that can be applied to any circumstance in life: run away, confront it or sit aside and wait. What we do in tough situations directly correlates to our response in previous life experiences. In the past, these tough situations were big questions that made us wonder the typical why did this have to happen to me? Tilley refers to these as defining moments. These defining moments are the things that further our experiences and what help to shape us. So this can be a defining moment, /but not a big question... (Line 20/21). Many evolutionists, philosophers and biologists have presented sufficient evidence that evolution is true. Yet there is still debate about this contentious topic. With the facts and findings of fossilrecords of earlier species, ideas of initial theorists, and our own genetics and DNA, evolution can be hard to prove wrong. Evolution is not just a change over time, but that all life on Earth shares a common ancestor. This process is occurring in our lives right now. What exactly is evolution? Evolution is the process through which the characteristics of organisms change over successive generations, by means of genetic variation . (What is evolution) Simply, descent with modification. Charles Darwin was the first person with the acceptable explanation of evolution. Although his theory gave forth too many tremendous advances, he did not build this theory on his own. He learned and built off earlier theorists, like Jean Baptiste Lamarck, who indorsed linear evolution . (evolution) As well as Aristotle, a Greek philosopher, with his concept of Scala Nature. These early theorists served as a foundation for Charles Darwin s theory. Although Darwin s theory was important, a greater attribution to evolution was founded. That is the uncovering of fossils. Just look at it, it s in a group of islands inhabited by Muslims. It s semi surrounded by Muslim island nations. Prior to the arrival of the Spanish, the Philippines was an Islamic state for the most part. Various Muslim empires ruled the Philippines, like for example Mindanao and Visayas were ruled by Malays. Luzon, was ruled by Arabs. Other parts were Hindu and Buddhist empires. The Spanish, had just finished off a Muslim kingdom that had once ruled the Iberian Peninsula, both Spain and Portugal. When the Spanish got to the Philippines, they were disgusted by the presence of Muslims. So, they converted 90% of Filipinos to the Roman Catholic faith. So why wasn t Malaysians and Indonesians converted to Christianity? This is because the British and Dutch didn t care about convering people. So the Malays got to practice their faiths freely. In Memory Of Wb Auden Analysis Representations of perspectives, notions, and circumstances embody political principles and their repercussions, often emphasising the disconnect between societies and their leaders. This idea is particularly evident in WH Auden s poems, In Memory of WB Yeats (1939) and September 1 1939 (1939) which portrays a Modernist s opinions on political events and personalities while acting as vehicles for expounding political opinions. Similarly, Malala Yousafzai s Speech to the United Nations (2013) explores the importance of free speech when subjugated, to regain freedom. Hence, both texts offer a socio political insight into the necessity of an unconstrained voice in breaking through unjust institutions that suppress and erode our free will. In In Memory of WB Yeats, Auden parallels historical and political events and personalities, using the legacy of WB Yeats to represent the necessity of powerful literature in influencing political perspectives. He presents the poem in the form of an elegy to show his admiration of Yeats influence despite his death as explicated in words of a dead man are modified in the guts of the living . • 37. Explaining Hydrogen Cyanide December 2013, in the middle of intersection of Interstate 25 and 80, a tanker hauling Hydrogen Cyanide overturns. This scenario can prove to be a tricky one, if it is not properly handled. Explaining ways to clean up this spill is best put in step by step instructions. The first thing we need to know about is the chemical itself. Hydrogen Cyanide can be extremely dangerous depending on which state of matter it is in. Liquid form is highly absorbable; meaning once it touches a surface (i.e. human skin), it is absorbed at once. From changing Hydrogen Cyanide to gas, it will take a minimum temperature of 79В°F to bring it to a boiling point (Occupational Health Guideline for Hydrogen Cyanide, 1978, pg. 2). In the gaseous form, Hydrogen Cyanide is more dangerous if inhaled and it also happens to be more flammable and explosive. If a person is exposed to Hydrogen Cyanide gas in concentrations of 100 300mg/pps, death can happen between 10 60 minutes; inhaling 2,000 parts per million can cause death in little than a minute (Enviroment Health Effects, n.d.). Thus explaining Hydrogen Cyanide, it shows that the situation is more dangerous than what it appears. The intersection of I 25 and I 80 is busy; you not only have people driving to different parts of Cheyenne, you also have drive thru traffic heading to Denver, Casper, Laramie, Nebraska, etc. Traffic is not the only problem though. This second attempt to take over Britain would last about four hundred years, to around the 5th century AD. These invasions were about more than obtaining land for the Roman Empire, but there were also minerals and agricultural fields to gain more income.
